"They're installing game plans. But they're playing in big stadiums against one another. In quote games that count at the end of the week instead of H is being another practice, which we have usually So I think the committee knows that it's gonna get limited season Mr Limited. For Oregon USC. I mean, they've got five game schedules and the Pac 12 type kid you're gonna put in a team that's six. No or five and one into the college football playoff. I don't think so. That's the breakdown of the college football playoff here and moving into the final couple of weeks of the season. I think the cool thing here, Bogue's Is that usually this is the final weekend of college football. Thanksgiving week in his rivalry weekend, usually and then the weekend after that is the championship Games League championship games. Instead, we've got like a month more of college football. How about that? Month more college football Month Maura of scheduling gymnastics and this growing possibility of like the S E. C championship game happening while other SEC games are being played, just to play them to figure out to finish off the season on the 19th. I mean, there's just There's so much still going on, like, even when you're going through the records like Alabama's played seven games like B Y U's played nine games They played to in a week like it doesn't even say they started that far back that these schools have that many games in the books like it feels The Ohio State being formal like that. That makes more sense in my head, But, yeah, like, so it's it's been going on for a while now, and it's nowhere near being done yet, which is maybe good and bad news. Miami and clubs. They're both seven and one out of the A. C. C. Notre Dame is eight and remember, the SEC played right out of Labor Day. But then they took some weeks off early on, They kind of spaced out and spread out their games. The SEC didn't play until October. They took the entire first month off pushed, too, in October kick off and I've been playing since the Big 10 had canceled the entire season or postponed it and then suddenly said, Oh, wait. The Truth to Shining Brightly & Letting the World See You by Shirley of Daring Living
"The truth to shining brightly and letting the world see you by shirley of daring living dot com. Today i wanna share one truth shining brightly and presenting yourself in this world how it all started and some background into my past. Last weekend i attended a series of events held by mpg. Tgi where house honor to connect with a group of exchange university students from taiwan is a program that was involved in during my graduate years so group that holds very dear to my heart was again at the event. I saw my old self. Who as if. I was back there in the organizing team with them just a few years ago struggling and carrying along with me the overwhelming burden of school. The pressure of meeting up to appearance appearances. Society's expectations the constant struggle to finding my passions and most importantly the desperation to reaching that never ending benchmark of set forward for myself. I was never good enough this time. However i was the bystander with much more communist and openness than before i felt the exchange tunes hopes dreams aspirations for the future also saw their personal struggles of finding themselves searching for a place to belong in this world this experience stirred up a gentle reminder. I think we all deserve to hear about presenting ourselves to this world while also staying true to who we are. You do not have to be in the spotlight to shine in this society and organizations today that a certain type of people that everyone looks up to in order to be successful even during my years in business school in every class we were encouraged. Step onto the stage and take the spotlight own. The room with confidence communicate inspire people with our ideas see. We were taught to be leaders. Not just any type of leader. The extroverted charismatic leaders that were highly valued. Sometimes the idea you need to communicate is so important they have to take the stage to express them to the right people but being the center of the attention is not where everyone thrives for me. It is not where i thrive is not where i can be myself. You do not have to be in the spotlight to shine. If you not feel comfortable leading group or being in the center of attention it is okay was important is you must understand yourself and find the best method and environment that suits you where you can effectively and truthfully express yourself and what you have to offer. I used a model these attention loving sociable charismatic extroverts and thought i had to be them in order to be successful in life but the truth is everyone of our personalities is so different. According to the myers briggs personality test we generally group are personality traits in this world into sixteen different types out of these sixteen half of them are extroverts. Matt of the eight only two of them are considered to have the natural charismatic trait mehan. Tj and ian fj. So what does that mean for. Those of us who do not belong as an emt j. or espn fj. While it means that you simply cannot pretend to be someone you are not and he should not have to be even if you are one of the two leadership type personalities. How much do you understand yourself. Be aware of your strengths weaknesses. Any environment that you are most comfortable in but of course these personality tests are just a start because they are just categories and still don't fully define you dive into your past experiences if think about what you enjoy doing try different hobbies follow your curiosities engage and take part in different groups and communities find out the best way for you to express yourself to the world. Perhaps it is through art through inventions through the internet to writing or through verbal communication. What kind of environment. You thrive in his through one on one conversations or in small groups or in a big stadium with hundreds of people to work better by yourself or a team. We are all different. Don't ever compare yourself in your situation with someone else's focus on yourself work on yourself. That's the only way for you to grow what the world needs while we really need are all types of people portraying different strengths in this world. Q. imagine what it would be like if the world is filled only with allowed charismatic extroverts and actually be pretty scary place to be and nothing would ever get done. We do need charismatic. People in this world to inspiring gather people together a will. We need also are quieter introverted. People and leaders who prefer to stay behind the scenes and are not afraid to let others take the spotlight. Moee need our brave people who choose to believe and follow crazy leaders with visions. What we need are committed people who follow through with what they say and can put words into actions when we need are open minded people who can really lean in and listen first before speaking while we need are kind people who have compassion and can show empathy in this cruel world. What we really need are people who have strong self awareness who are honest and truthful to themselves so that men return they can be their best selves to better serve this world quote. Ask yourself when makes you come alive and go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive
The Murder of Racing Legend Mickey Thompson
"Six weeks before the events of March Sixteenth Mickey Son Danny got a weird phone call from his Dad Mickey told him to be very careful and to make sure his wife Valorea and newborn son Travis were safe. He wouldn't provide any more details fast forward to March, and once again Danny's phone rang this time. It wasn't his dad it was one of his employees. He wouldn't say anything other than that Danny needed to drive to his dad's house in bradberry ASEP Danny got in his car and started driving you turn on the radio. There's a voice announcing some sort of celebrity murder, typical talk radio fodder but then Danny heard the word bradberry and his blood went cold as he pulled up to his dad's house at fifty three woodland drive. He saw that the driveway was blocked off with police tape news helicopters circled overhead Danny got out of his car and looked up the hill towards the house. His father's body surrounded by cops was lying prone on the concrete bloody and still. As, more family and friends learned of Mickey Intruders Murder One name was on everyone's lips. Mike Goodwin like I get that. That's a tough phone call to make. But I feel like the employees Kinda copped out a little bit whereas like, Hey, you should just go your dad's house like why what's wrong? I think maybe Disco Check Out Your Dad tells what's what's The anticipation of hearing bad news or the anticipation of senior DAD's dead body I. Think like paired with the radio and then pulling up in seeing police all around like having a piece of together to me. Seems, pretty rough I think that's I agree like the anticipation is much worse I I need to know like goes wrong. Just tell me I don't. I don't care like. Then you know and you can start dealing with versus like well is I mean it looks like it is but like hopefully, it's not like you still have that hopefully it's not hopefully it's not hopefully it's not and then you kind of have to like live the news, a number of times that way and also like if you don't know what's going on like you could think that your parents are still alive and so you're right. Maybe you're rushing and speeding on the highway, which is also like not great as well. Like if you know that there's like nothing you can do you're not gonNA put yourself in danger getting there. Yet. I can see how an employee would be like. I can't be the one to tell him but I. Yeah. I mean I'm sure that's what it was like. I don't know if it's my place but. It's sort of is if you're the one calling him, I would I would rather I would like preface of like. You need to go to your parents house like. There's been a murder is something. Yeah, how would you even say that like? Are they just say you can go like you're just like, Hey, your mom and dad had been murdered not good news. I Dunno very tough situation before we dive into the details of March sixteenth let's introduce might goodwin a name. You probably haven't heard before by the early eighties Mickey and his wife Trudy were managing Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group or Mt. A motorsports stadium tour that was one of the earliest touring off road racing series in the United. States. If you if you watch stadium trucks today M tag is. Basically the progenitor of that. Data Mickey Thompson basically invented stadium trucks which are one of the. It's one of the coolest forms of racing to watch. Yeah I love. It's like look like just like trucks just going off ramps. Are they like, do they kind of like? They kind of do. The wants today there. They mostly do on or street courses. Where they have the ramps and stuff like that. I mean you'll see him if you go to the Long Beach Grand Prix they're racing on the same course with ramp setup but guys. 'em Tagged Stadium tour was like they would go to places like the l a coliseum or these other big stadiums setup courses that are almost like dirt dirt bike or supercross courses rather, which will also mentioned later in the episode and race trucks inside of a professionals pro sports stadium. So pretty amazing although Mickey already had a successful performance parts company, he loved throwing himself into projects tinkering with. Other. Projects like hydro barriers which are now ubiquitous traffic barriers that can be transported and filled with water to be used on race tracks and highways. Hey, you know I'm thinking about putting water in a barrel. What do you think about that? It'll never work. I've been tinkering. Barrels a lot of water. Yeah. Never Catch people don't want water in their barrels they want barrels for the cement. ooh. However Mickey's true passion as he entered, his golden era was still am tag, which only had a small staff apart from Mickey and Trudy by Nineteen eighty-four, both nicky and his wife were experiencing health issues. Mickey famously subsisted on a terrible junk food diet that was now taking a toll and they finally decided to take off some of the load by partnering 'em Tags Events with a motor sports promoter known as Mike Goodwin.
Indoor Dining Returning to Philadelphia Sept. 8, City Says-With Limitations
"Been five months since Philadelphia ordered restaurants closed because of Corona virus. Now reopening date has been set for indoor dining in this city. It does come with a lot of asterisks, our city Hall bureau chief. Whatever these pat lobe is live with the update pen. That's right. Indoor dining can return to Philadelphia, September 8th the day after Labor Day so they don't get overrun by holiday travelers and Merrymakers. But as you say it won't be back to normal By any stretch. The reopening comes with a slew of rules. Restaurants can operate on ly a 25% capacity with tables, 6 FT apart, and parties of no more than four people and the city will be sending inspectors around. There are limits, of course to their enforcement capabilities. A thousands of restaurants could take them up on this. But Mayor Kenny made an impassioned plea with the restaurants to follow the rules. The rules, he says, got us this far. And in fact, this is a sign of improvement in Philadelphia's cove. In 19 situation, the number of cases is trending down again. On one significant statistic. The percentage of tests coming back positive is down to 3%. And S O with that in mind, officials gave the go ahead to indoor dining and also indoor theaters, whether their movie theaters or concert venues, But they will be restricted to 25 people, regardless of their size. Whether it's a small club or Ah Big Stadium no more than 25 people

"As we celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the passage of title nine, we welcome one of the legends of American soccer, a hall of Famer, one of the key cogs on the ninety nine World Cup championship team that would do so much to advance women's sports in the US and beyond our old friend colleague Julie Foudy Julie Thank. You for being with us, Jeremy Julius it's kind of impossible to talk about the evolution of Women's sports. Sports in the impact of title, nine forty eight years later without talking about nineteen ninety nine, and I know you talk about it all the time and I know you're asked to talk about it all the time but you can't really overstate the significance of what happened that summer. When you think back to it now. How do you place it in the context of all that we've seen in terms of progress women's sports. You know I I take a long heavy side there because when we were in the moment and ninety nine. We felt, and we were very cognizant of the fact that this is going to be the standard that all other women sporting events this fire to and not just women's soccer. That's right like we're very conscious of. We're in the moment. We're setting the standard. We're doing it in big stadium for doing it national. We're not going. Which is what? Fee for wanted us to do go on the east, coast only do regional tournament play and five to ten thousand seat stadiums. We blew up that plan. We said that stupid. We're GONNA. Show the world. What Women's sports should look like what the standards should be so that people understand the potential that they can tap into right, and so it was really got the in that regard actually us soccer I found out later assumed risk because feet, said no. We're not gonNA. Take on that risk to go to big stadiums and do a national footprint so us. Soccer said okay well. Let's do all that risk we're. GonNa do it. And And so in the moment we felt like. Oh, my gosh, this is going to have a lot. Revolutionize the way people. Invest in Women's sports the way they put on events in women's sports because we had a whole local organizing committee that..
Trump dismisses controversy over Tulsa rally, says it will be a 'celebration' of his campaign
"I president trump's campaign is holding its first rally in Tulsa Oklahoma on June eighteenth the date that marks the end of slavery that decision has generated a lot of controversy as racial tensions over police brutality of led to recent unrest president trump told fox news he did not deliberately choose that date tomorrow as a celebration we're starting this in the history of politics I think I can say there's never been any group or any person that's had rallies like edge I go and I just think it was a big stadium and we fill it
Madison Keys on Kindness in Competition
"Everyone John Wartime here is. This week's sports illustrated podcast this week. Talk With Madison Keys. Who apart from being a top player is also the front person for kindest wins which is her initiative and has been for several years which is a very different type of sports philanthropy. This one is basically aimed at making people nicer We're all four. It and Madison is always lovely to To visit with and so here without further ADO is Madison keys. How are you how you doing? I'm good how're hill? I'm alright I got all excited because I saw your press release said Rock Island but that we're going to talk mid West Midwest but you're in Florida right. I am currently in Florida. My mom is in rocket. How have you been have you been? Have you been experiencing this crazy detention? It's been it's been a big change of pace for me. Obviously not being used to being homeless often. But I've been keeping pretty busy and we'd have really nice weather in Florida. We've been lucky to have lots of sunshine in all of that. So just try to keep myself preoccupied. It's your inner optimist. I like that however you can pacing a return to tennis. I mean do. Do you have a imaginer gate in your head. When we're you're going to get back out there. I am trying to stay optimistic. I hope it's sooner rather than later but at the same time. I think I'm trying to not get too far ahead of myself in. Just kind of stay in the moment Hopefully soon I would love to play some tennis this year. So we're back as quickly as can be. It seems clear when you do come back. Stay films probably aren't going to be a big part of this. What are you what do you do that will be like? I think it'll be incredibly hard. I don't think any of us have really experienced being in you know big stadiums or big tournaments or anything like that in have emptiness and not really been there you know to entertain fans live. I think that's part of what we love doing is getting out in front of people and seeing them so excited during matches or postponing definitely going to be something that it would be probably a little bit of a learning curve and how to deal with that but at the same time when I get out there and compete and if we can you know get back on. Tv and people get to enjoy us. That that way I'd be more than happy to get back out there calling your own lives. I think that my opponent's would like if I called my own lines. I am one of the most generous. I'm so calling live but my coach typically when they're standing behind me like that was so far out really doesn't that it was like at least on the Lai at that is to me. That is a great transition to kindness. Wins may twenty. Second is kindness Wednesday. What what does that? I know what that means but what does what does this mean to you. I am incredibly excited about it. It means the world to me that it's a new venture for US obviously branching off of fearlessly girl and now becoming kindness wins and having a little bit of a broader mission but to be able to have kindness. Wednesday is something I really excited about and I think especially in a time right now when a lot of us are a bit more on edge and kind of just looking for some positive things in the world to make a smile. I'm really hoping that kindness Wednesday can be one of those

"Has been postponed that was march eleventh when an announcer called off the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz game. Just before tip off. Most of US remember that day it was the day. President trump announced the travel restrictions from Europe. The day Tom Hanks and read a Wilson said they had tested positive for Kovic nineteen and the day the NBA suspended the rest of the season after Rudy. Gobert the Utah Jazz Center head tested positive for the virus. You may remember go bare as the player who touched all the microphones at a Utah Jazz media event as a prank. He didn't know he was positive at the time and later apologized for it. I'm a huge basketball fan myself so I was crushed when I heard the news of the NBA suspension. But of course public health comes first to me that really was the watershed moment in the entire. Corona Virus Cova nineteen conversation and not just sports but in our culture. Christine Brennan has been covering sports for three decades. She says she hasn't seen anything like this in her entire career. I think it woke the nation and the world frankly up to the significance and the seriousness of the corona virus pandemic after the NBA suspended season. It was like a domino effect. Major league soccer in the NHL have suspended their seasons for now while Major League. Baseball is hoping to open season in May according to ESPN and the NCWA cancelled it spring and winter championships as a wolverine go blue. I love March madness. It's one of my favorite times of the year. I even had tickets to the final four this year so I was really disappointed when that didn't happen but the threat to our health and safety was too great and it wasn't just the safety of the fans it was for the safety of the athletes to eleven thousand. Olympians expected to compete in Tokyo. This summer had their plans. Put on. Hold the Twenty Twenty Summer Games now postponed until twenty twenty one. The Games have been canceled three times before. But this is the first time they've been postponed and of course even a date. That far ahead doesn't come without concerns. Christine Brennan told me well we in the summer of two thousand twenty one. We'll people feel comfortable. Flying on planes overseas will the Japanese fans feel comfortable being in big stadiums and the answer is over and over experts. I've talked to. We have no idea. We just do not know but by that point of course a lot of these. Olympic athletes will have lost months and months of training. I just don't think we know yet and I think that uncertainty is so difficult for athletes. Consider that Olympic athlete. Their whole lives for this one moment. I was hardly know just as we train for for almost a year to two years. Just make the Olympic team. That's odd the beater Amman. An Olympic distance runner twenty twenty was the fifth time he's qualified at forty three. He's also the oldest American to run the marathon in the Olympics. You know before before the device you have a goal does the one thing you have like road races coming up you. Have you have something to get ready for this time? Everything's on the air. I just training just to stay fit and the sports world isn't just waiting on the sidelines. In the midst of the Pandemic Major League Baseball is now participating in a nationwide Corona Virus Antibody Study League employees spouses and players volunteered to participate to help give a better understanding of how prevalent this virus really is so I go is not to get an obese specifically back to work go in our research is really to get a bit of understanding of what the true prevalence looks like across the nation. I spoke with Daniel Lichner. The president and lab director of the Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory. They were great pot down in a great organization because the head nationwide coverage that we could access individuals that were I seem to matic regular part of the general population. You know from team owners all the way down to hotdog vendors and be sales people on Game Day and everything in between you're looking at the MLB it sounds like sort of a microcosm then of the country Representing different demographics of our country. Can Can you talk me through how it was administered? Then in how quickly then did they get results? Some people could do drive-thru program where they have a bunch of their technicians. Physicians trainers and the Individuals with the drive through. Stick their finger out the window get fingerprint can get the result literally in a matter of minutes and it seems like most people would fundamentally want to know. Then am I now essentially immune can I get infected again? I think which too soon to say what that immunity looks like now. The federal government is slowly making plans to reopen the country. As I said earlier president trump has asked major league sports commissioners to be apart of that conversation the commissioners have a tough job. They're weighing a lot of things. In making the decision of how in win to get back to work commissioners work for the owners and their league and and the owners are going to want to start playing. They're going to want to start making money again. They're not liking the losses the financial losses that they're taking of course no one is the commissioners also have to weigh the very significant health risks. Not just for the players and their families and the referees and the coaches and the TV people and the and the media people But also the fans in the stands. And if you're drawing people into a stadium and if it becomes a corona virus hotspot and all of a sudden explodes. That is the fear of every commissioner in every sport you open up too soon you bring people together and all of a sudden you have another corona virus bomb sports says we know it may not be the same for a long time the NFL draft. Which starts tonight. We'll be held. Virtually for the first time as was the WNBA draft last week. The League plans to start its regular season in September and the draft helped set that into motion. Here's NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in an interview with ESPN. Obviously it's a different year for all of us. We had to make modifications in our offseason program We've had to make significant changes to our draft And those are all appropriate and their right to do. And we you know part of what this is about is continued to work from home by-product from home continue to do things we're supposed to do and be prepared. There's also the possibility that spectator less sports will become the new normal Christine Brennan predicts that will happen at the PGA men's golf tournament when it comes back in June and the masters in November. We could see an a masters without spectators. And that's GonNa look very strange to a lot of people. Although my prediction here is that within a couple of days of watching some of these sports events. If you watch a baseball game without spectators day is not gonNA look a strange the next day and by the third or the fourth day. You're going to be totally used and you're just going to be happy. You're watching baseball again. I think sports is walking a very fine line. It's kind of a tight rope. We want sports back. It'll make people happy it'll signal this openness that maybe we're we're coming out of this and yet you don't WanNa move too fast. Olympic runner of the Bearman thinks that the twenty twenty one Olympics will be a history making record breaking year. But I think he's GonNa going to unite us. I'm just GONNA have so much energy like a lot of things. Going every athlete winner represent contract because they know what their country went through so everybody wanted to do when do their best Magic Johnson also remains hopeful America. All of us who live in this great country that we live in. We need sports especially in a time like this but only if everybody is safe

"Makes you famous. No that just makes you a reporter order. I doubt Lindsey Dot. You could walk through thousand oaks without getting mocked you just create a stir. Every time you go through their curiosity it happens every day. I walked through. Ah Nobody even noticed. Because they're intimidated by by. Let's not go down that road right now. Just don't look at her. You know anyway all right. So the rams are they pretending Lindsey that this is still like a real thing that they're going to go make the playoffs and do you notice a difference in how they're talking are carrying themselves this week versus last. Yeah you know I think realities set in Obviously they still know there is a chance they need to win the the next two. They need the vikings to lose the next two But it the tone definitely has changed here Where what? They're kind of just talking themselves into trying to get motivated for this game trying to really talk themselves. Do believing there really is a chance of a run at the playoffs So so it's kind of shifted now air quotes that they practice so by all means I would You Know Eric The guy who tends to shoot US pretty straight But there the different feeling around the facility for sure what was I mean. Now that there's been a few days to digest what happened in Dallas like. How has the team been wrapping their head around the idea that you know not only? Why do they need to win that game? They played so badly in it especially when they seem to have a little bit of momentum. Going yeah you know it. It's kind of deja Vu. ooh from the Ravens game after which Several people said they were embarrassed. And how would how poorly they played and It was kind of a loss. Is it no one saw coming like that. They didn't expect you play like that in this Dallas game is a little bit of the of the same kind of tune But the interesting thing. Is that these these games they're kind of anomalies. There's only been a few games where this team hasn't played as absolute best in proven that they can play among the best. It just happened to be in two obviously very ah on Big Stadium in Dallas gave it a very crucial moment yeah The thing about Lindsay is like when we were at this point where the rams grams needed a win like six in a row or whatever it might be to have a real chance to get in and all that and you look at it and you say well it seems like based on last year that they could and maybe they've won a few where anything maybe by their answer. been a sense like from you over the course of the year that they would have been good enough to pull it off like you understand what sounds like if ah they were in this predicament. Were they ever good enough to win their way out of it. I thought there was. I truly I've covered this team if they return to La in two thousand sixteen and After they won after they beat the cardinals. I was like okay. Well that's kind of gold right there. But then they came to the coliseum and they dominated the Hawks and I don't even think the score that given the twenty to twelve. I don't think that was indicative of how well the Rim played I played the by a greater market. And then even that does that point and it was like okay here. Come the rams Because they have the players to do it they have the coaches to do it But to go out and Kinda late on a wage. Let's even call it. A clunker against the cowboys is really inexplicable given the coaching and the talent that's In this Organization you just mentioned the coaching Lindsay when Lindsay theory covers covers the rams for. ESPN there's been. I know a lot from fans and I would say even some of the media covering this team starting to be more questions about Sean mcvay A and and a game plan. He said this in particular the way. He's used Todd Gurley and questioning it. Have you gotten any sense at all. The players are starting to question. What mcvay's doing this year not on the often decide as well? I mean the most sense you would get maybe players are not quite certain is You Know Todd Gurley who early in the season he's asked you know. Hey how come. You're getting the ball more. How come this is happening and Thomas they will? I don't call the plays And then obviously when they call the idiot a few weeks go as to The reason why todd was getting more touches. You Know Todd Gurley does that. Come to his coaches defense He said well he said it. Not Me so That's it's kind of as much coming up on the on the surface as far as whether His play calling is really been questioned by the team Nobody else is really. This seems really quite good. Good at keeping whatever issues they have or whatever feelings they have that might not be the most positive behind closed. Doors Lindsey theory joining us right now. she covers the rams for ESPN And also ESPN La. It's her voice that you hear every day on our station and standing on the shoulders of giants science. I might add in terms of the of the work. That you're doing here with the RAMS report Just saying anyway Lindsey. When you're welcome Lindsey you in the ground that we paved for you? Yeah thanks guys win rate up when you look at the next like going for. What can the rams do to fix.

"Your competition is a little bit lesser. I just don't know if that makes people on the east coast more likely to watch the PAC twelve football. I think still as I've maintained. It's just about quality at the top. Yeah people will watch Oregon if Oregon's excellent People Watch U._S._C. U._S._C. is excellent. People Watch that might be but but now if U._C._l._a. and Chip Kelly excellent if Washington you know develops into a more exciting offensive Brent Scher people will watch those teams. That's just GonNa take more than where they are right now. So that's where they stand also the Vegas thing. Do you know how the capacity of the stadium is built yet or fully built. The capacity is sixty five thousand big stadium. You think you think you feeling that with like Washington U._S._C.. Maybe do you think you're feeling that with. I don't no I'm I'm trying to be reasonable and realistic here. YOU FILL IN WASHINGTON UTAH like no we had last year. It's a big state half thousands of big stadium. You can thirty K.. It's not big compared to Michigan or Tennessee but right in a more people vegas in Santa Clara absolutely but in a place that doesn't have any kind of deep college football culture. I mean no disrespect U._N._l._V. Sixty five thousands of that's a that's a pretty heavy. It's easy. It's easy to get to hotels at reasonable. People want to go to their right. You know it's going to be warmer than it is in eastern Washington Northern California and the desert so I I understand the move more side. Just you know I have complicated located feelings about Conference Championship Games and the PAC twelve going away from home sites. It's all it's all fine all right so here is the deal on today's show yeah congratulations skippy. You've got mail. You've got mail on the solid verbal. Before we actually get into real hard college football content Dan <hes> can we just come to an agreement here before we start all and this is this is entirely selfish of me okay. Can we come to an agreement no edits tonight. Wow yeah definitely okay who wants no ties day job. Whatever whatever happens happens on this show? I'm not cutting anything being out okay. That's fair if you're confident with that so am I yeah if you're confident with everybody knowing that ties and executive at Crater Jones then I am too sounds good to me all right. Where do you WANNA go first here? The question that lives top our document here okay which is more realistic more realistic not likely more realistic Michigan going undefeated this year or Ohio state losing three games. That's from Andrew. This is an incredibly interesting question. Thank you Andrew. I thought long and hard about this one in here. Here's the dilemma that I have the dilemma is that it's really hard to be undefeated. Mouth Care who you are you could have the easiest schedule in college football and still very very difficult to twelve mile but then you look at Ohio state's roster and there's just so much talent..

"Do on Sunday afternoon as well. I do know those tickets go on sale for the season ticket holders today in the general public tomorrow. But if I had to guess right now, I wonder if the general public, we have a shot at them because those things will so fast. Yeah. That, that, that whole, so it's not a big stadium and yeah. Memorial weekend about getting this now. You got the twins. And the gophers Dong pretty good entertainment, right here in talent. You talked to din heart talk last night on your show. Yeah, she's yeah. Your dad football coach out there. A lot of good athletes come through a couple of minutes, the NFL's from Hopkins in him the weight room through towns up in with him. And she grew up in that family or brother, wasn't half meter systems, or dad was Nath leading. So guess what? She she very poised for only being a freshman in college. He's, he's kinda got to sink figured out in this played that long and hard and on the club teams and everything else and as she was not a it's being of the season. But once you got in, they couldn't get it out because she just hits. And she knows how to hit that ball shit today was, yes. She was the opposite field tells you, she's a pretty good idea what she's going to attempt. She goes up to Jimmy arch, and our producers walking to the skyway yesterday right after the news about Ryan Sanders broke and he ran into Ryan in and said, hey, you going to do quick interview, so I can't say anything right now understandably. He's such a good kid. But anyway, we'll have the new director basketball operations Gershon roses, join us here in just a little while Maxine next half hour, but they have that press conference and you. You call it, man. I gotta give you credit you call this a while back that he would be the guy. Well, you're pretty you're pretty hard to paint a scenario where it wasn't gonna be him with fish when you look at the candidates, if they were interviewing because they were really serious about playing challenge, and they'd be going out and, and, and get some head coaching experience, that they're taught to, and less and less guy said they, we, you know, we, we don't want to look at that job because we don't think it's a good situation or does that happen. Just go is. I'm not going through that because you've already decided in Ryan, Sandra. And I'm not gonna play that game where he just sat up in interviewing have no chance of getting the job. So I don't know what happened on that front. But when he saw that you go. Okay. They're, they're not even trying to find somebody else. They, they definitely want. Ryan some understate have this job, just the way that played out in Gerson says that, you know, he had full authority. But I don't know if you get an Glenn here might have said, just you do the rest of it. Yeah you start with Ryan. It's coaching. Oh from there. I, I don't know that, that that's true or not. That's just Syria out there, Milwaukee Toronto tonight in the NBA hockey, San Jose. Saint Louis golden say wrapped up last night, one nineteen to one seventeen max, you ESPN cameras caught. The gopher women dumping Gatorade on their head coach Jamie Trachsel yesterday, but a little later in the locker room. What you and I learned is a team Puerto box of all Dutch potato chips on her. Head to, to just continue the celebration to the super regional, they did the party fact. Yeah. Well, they were on sale this weekend. Yeah. She didn't see it coming. And. They were managed and then after that, then that, that can getting up top the all the trips giving flavors came fluttering down and different colors for each team that they beat along the way, which I saw a nice touch that people don't think about of sports part, you should know. So now they're gonna use appropriating paint some purple and gold Jake LSU this weekend. And, you know, if you win you enjoy the fruits of your labor, the chips, have your labor, and, yeah, that was quite a scene in obviously unite here about show rations all the time, because of our connection dole. But if people haven't had a chance to experience an old Dutch post game celebration, maybe you're youth coach that you need to work that in. It is a culture thing and it changes the culture of your team. And how many times if? Yeah, we've seen it up here in the upper midwest, especially, but Fargo that one year remember that Hakim thirteen-year-old Aki team won. And they brought the chips in the penalty box and get it. Yeah. Because you have to make penalties still wanna move so many creative ways to do it. Well, we certainly have. And one of the neat things that'll happen for this gopher softball team is this is new territory getting into the super regional Silla. Have the new limited edition salt gourmet popcorn the red pepper homemade potato chips, so sloppy Joes and the creamy chicken chips, because it's a new beginning in who else to teach you about a new beginning, then old Dutch. Yeah. The gourmet popcorn is just perfect sitting outside watching a game. And you take away to whatever game that you're going to hear in the spring and summer and everybody loves popcorn. But you sit there with that is life. Feels good tastes. Good has all those things to say, Minnesota you enjoy a game and like just save a couple bags for post game celebration creative with it. And then you can send some pictures that we've seen them all we think I don't know. Maybe somebody can tap. But I think we've seen the best of all Dutch post game celebrations, and that's the thing when you hear if you're at the game. If you're lucky enough to have a junior, you'll hear Jamie Trachsel Bill Cosby popcorn now up. Yes, that's code word you want popular and you win this game. That's exactly and that's all code and people worked at in part of their pre game pep talk and all that stuff. Remember that coach said bitch give all pep talk with say he should get nothing to say. Behind him three bags old ships, and you stood there. Member seen it on actually we've seen it all. Chip that day. I might have had the other changing the name. Women to close out WrestleMania for first time
"WWE is going to make a little history with wrestlemainia this go around at outta MetLife. Big. It's a big deal. It's a huge deal for the first time ever. It's an all woman main event, it's a three way match, you know, with Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, whose champion were raw women's champions around the rousing shallow flair and Becky Lynch does the freeway match. It would be the main event. Some would call it the final match while from us. Call the main event Seles match. Yeah. So. You know, some folks thought maybe Brock listener. And Seth Rollins will be the main event, it's not universal title. This is for the raw women's championship. And you know. It says a huge deal. This is great not just for the business. It's just for the restaurant business, but it's great for women's wrestling because women's wrestling over the past several years has come such a long way, not just from WWE other companies to and the women aren't just looked at as as it used to be years ago. When it just I candy, he's a legitimate athletes. These are legitimate performance legitimate WB superstars, and these three ladies Shala flare rows and Becky alleged. They're gonna tear it down. It's going to be great. It's going to be great. And to do it at MetLife. Another just we're wrestlemanias. Always at these big big stadiums. Just like the SuperBowl, isn't pack them. Okay. You're gonna have close to eighty thousand people. Okay. At wrestlemainia people from all over WorldCom. And that just makes me so proud like as a former wrestler, a former wrestling broadcaster. You know, how many years it's taken? But it's finally like I was saying during the break to you and Andrew bogusch. Not really awesome. How so many worldwide mainstream sports verticals in sports, broadcasts companies, and and worldwide entertainment companies supporting with w w pro wrestling does on their websites on TV just a little while move says, you know, you're going to have Roman reigns. And all ladies the ladies in the main advantages named ought to be a sports center on ESPN on TV. I mean, so and and they're going to be doing suffered ESPN they did stuff last year too. So I'm just saying I just so it's just so refreshing that it's the the entertainment value is respected by the sports world. And the athleticism is is respected by the bulk of the sports world. So, but this is a huge thing. I mean, this is huge. And it's it's happy for I don't be rude. I'm happy for Charlotte flair and Becky Lynch of these ladies they paid their dues a lot of years. Lot of skin in the game. A lot of. A years. Lots of years, okay before WWE, Rhonda Rousey, she's new to the game. She'd been paid dues and the wrestling business. Great great MMA. She's a UFC hall of Famer. She's a amazing grand champion judoka. Which is a a junior champion. So amazing athlete and she brings massive stop power. But I'm old school wrestling traditionalists, and those two other ladies paid a lot of dues flair and Lynch, but Ronda Rousey is helping draw draw the helps draw the main event, obviously because I'm a stop out. Yes, she does. But not as popular as the other two amongst wrestling fans. No rescue domino. You said and you're right. And the reason is because bring name power put the wrestling fan or fans of Becky Lynn me the reason is because of respect. Yeah. Because they know like I just said the wrestling fan knows that those ladies paid a lot of deuce and Rhonda hasn't. But that's not the main reason she she's her character, which is good. They have for doing this more out of health the fans and a bunch of nerds in their basement. She's going that route which is called cheap. It's easy to do that works. It's fine. So that's helping hurt that helps her as a heel as a bad guy dead girl, get that heat. But the fans also know when she talks on a Mike is just terrible is no juicy. There's no other way to put. She's yes. I'm sorry. She's great, and my disrespecting handing she's done athletically, or what she means in for the WWE attached. But I mean, I just look at I look at the other two is just better overall. When you put everything in place. I, you know, I look at them as better overall women rested. And I just want to say this to like anybody who thinks wrassling. I listen, you watch any stuff leading up to the smack just for example, what Shala flare Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, go on YouTube goal. WBZ's website watch the physicality that's happening with these ladies. Yeah. Okay. Watchhouse fifties kicks and punches are that will watch. And so anybody who thinks any different is a dumb ass. It just doesn't stand and they have this archaic thinking, and it's it's sad because that's kind of like uncalled Alec. It's like wrestling's embraced now. It's it's sitting here on a national sports radio show. And we're talking about this. You'll have you'll have broadcasters here on CBS sports radio. Talk about wrestlemanias that leads to on WFAN here. Locally to know wherever you might anywhere anywhere. You live right, right. Talking about this. Because it like I said they're fixing to be on ESPN. Right. It's it's clearly it's clearly more mainstream and has got more mainstream as we've gone along here. And I, you know, put all that, you know, everything you said is true TASR. I just think you look at the growth of the women are the women's wrestler. The woman wrestler in professional wrestling is just remarkable. Because you mentioned in terms of now, I remember the days of sable, right? And not even not even go back where you know, you mentioned candy and everything was calling that stuff. You know that birthday. We'll see. So. So it's so significantly different the way that they're treated and appreciated now much significant. Yeah. And they've earned it. I mean, and they do a great job. I mean, we've interviewed you know, we interviewed Charlotte all week. That's right special winter, she was doing stuff a special, which is which the WWE designate job their outreach into the communities, and helping those that need it, and she talked about that. And and we know how big of a star Becky Lynch's and Ronda Rousey, she's got some work to do in terms of. I don't know if it's ever gonna get there with her on the Mike, but we know how great of a of a physical specimen. Well, then the thing is I do think like just a my opinion that I think they if if if if something McConnell McGregor happens would w w at wrestlemania guy the table set here, you get this main event here like we said earlier, I talked about this earlier. And I'll talk about more on my podcasts on the tashaun get deeper in the woods on the wrestling. But the thing is like you got you got one of the girls listing Becky Lynch and who's probably gonna win the championship. At wrestlemainia, and for those that don't know harmonica. Her name is she's the man so speculates as you know, Muslim. She's the man that's like the gimmick. And 'cause she's the man, but she's a woman. But it's it's just a gimmick. Right. But anyway, she's from Ireland. Okay. We know Conor McGregor is from Ireland. We know Rhonda rows economy McGregor offer ends. I could see something happened where I would strongly predict if f Conor McGregor gets involved. You know, and everybody's gonna hack this for me on this radio station. Just throw some credit over here to task. I would think that Conor McGregor helps Becky somehow some way maybe if he's involved win the match that'd be cool and win the championship. Because then they could go down the road where Rhonda's pissed at McGregor, and they could do something potentially further down the

"You're right. Once once the key man was hurt. And yeah it was clueless football game. But listen credit VC not just to the team. But to the the whole setting up there. It's a beautiful place to watch football. But in ain't a big stadium. It it really is not a lot of time to white forest, which is a place. I grew up going to all the time. It's beautiful, but you're probably not going to see a whole lot. And it'll be a lot of people there. But man did they show up for game day. And did it got there. Six clock in the morning and didn't leave until one o'clock in the morning. So props to them. And but yeah, it was it was definitely game. Yeah. You go to you. Go BC game in November you better take your mittens with you. You should seen going to say between that and then our SEC nation crew like Marcus spears in those guys were up in Fayetteville where it was like fifteen degrees. Like there was some cold staff members OPEL on ESPN properties. But twenty seven seven Clemson moves on sodas Notre Dame, guys. Forty two thirteen quarterback controversy in south bend. Ceelo is it when Bush Bush is Ian book now the drama? No, I don't think. So chelsea. Yeah. That's what we do sort of sort of Brian Kelly said that even post way, we were having fun, right? No, listen. But it's going back to your point about hurts a minute ago. I think the way this goes down with the media and fans a lot of times is we look at it as controversy and the conversation how Nick save back in August. And he said he said listen Christie says both we need to both the guys win last year somewhere along the way we're going to probably need both of them this year. I think with Notre Dame. It's the same way. They know they've got two guys if books injury. Does it get better if he has reactivated, you know, you got a guy now when Bush came back and played pretty well. This week coaches would always always one hundred percent of the time. Choose that alternates to the other two have two guys especially late in the year. Two guys who've played and one on big stages is you go into this championship type question. Dexter williams. Two hundred yards two touchdowns. And again, wimbush only what had one touchdown in like, I think the last game that he had played responsible for three of them in. It's the first time Notre Dame's ten and oh in twenty five seasons. Of course, it sets up the big game against the fighting, Josh Baccari. Syracuse next. There. It is. That's who they're going to be playing me. She again gun to a tussle with Rutgers in after the first three minutes of the game. It didn't matter anymore. Seven seven at one point McGee, forty two two seven a quiet horrible team just continues to look dominant weekend weekend looks like they're getting stronger shape Patterson. Yeah. There's a question about it. And this is not the team that we saw lose Dame, and we won. And that's that's going to be their entire argument and their entire case to the plow selection committee, assuming that they take care of business over the next two weeks because at the end of the day this team, and Jim Harbaugh will always be measured by how he performs how they perform against Michigan state because state, and then ultimately some sort of postseason game in his record. And all three of those situations has been awful. And now he has knocked off Michigan state Penn State. And now he has Indiana and then the game which is suddenly very quietly while we were all paying attention somewhere else..

"Your kids out to the park you buy 'em acropper jackson and you sing the you know the the southern extraction you'll you bring your son or your daughter in you bring up a glove it says pastime are you joy the game of football is a gladiator sports warrior sport you know people love the big hits a jacked up i know we've moved away from that law a lot nfl now which is the smart way to go the extra fell maybe they exa fell brings that back and get some fans two two to one what some of those hits egg baseball's looked at as a sacred pastime and you mentioned the the statue of baseball so stat oriented eight no sport you compare uh someone who played now to someone who play the toys in 30s like he you'll say you karim heart was as good as as red grains right but it baseball you say oh by trying similar numbers the babe ruth like you don't do that in football you'd seems it seems asinine to to do that in any of the sports with baseball loves our history he mentioned that the than the status well what there's been years when the now has been higher or lower there's been years where where the balls been juiced we saw last year with most hormones hit ever we've seen steroid error we've seen guys party who we see an air of big stadium small stadiums where baseball's an imperfect sport and so the stats are always going to be different for every era answer work if you are a baseball fan you are not acknowledge at berry bontes alltime hamas leader homer leader that don't think pretend it's it's really maisto that that's fine even though i should be here hank aaron she's me thank you earn a but believe take care instead it very bothered the matter but it happened barry bonds hit the most home runs a baseball he had in the record book but asterix it doesn't matter but that's why i think baseball is looked at as this america's pastime of this the sacred sport and that's why people refuse to acknowledge that the steroid ever happen you're listening to locker room on espn radio i have just short alongside dusty divorce at winter switch gears.

"Happens and he's coming in at this angle is coming in hot he fees digs not the ball so he's not making a play on the ball and said he's playing the receiver may be worried about a pass interference call worried about getting their splitsecond too soon and so he jocks underneath digs ducks honor him to avoid contact he dodge is the receiver to avoid making contact the only thing that can happen there digs can't get behind him a digs elevates comes down to the other side of them so digs momentum is carrying him toward the end zone williams is ducking under him going the opposite direction and as an added bonus takes out his own cornerback as so now there's nobody is still standing for the safe and of course to bigs can waltz into the end zone if you haven't seen the video that the vikings posted we re tweeted them from our show account one of them is from the end zone land level from the end zone and the sound the roar inside mit big stadium no us bank stadium the us bank rate sorry got around the first time it's crazy carries you in key and carry stiff on digs the the reaction is unbelievable and you see that the stunned reaction for both the vikings and the states on the field the nfl made them bring their guys back out of the locker room new orleans had to then kinda do this fake light up for what was a kneel down for a twopoint conversion so yeah in that moment so many things happen just mark marcus williams the rookie safety this play that he's going to live and really live over and over and over and over again it's a tough lesson to learn but you can already hear it if a lesson he will never forget he's already looking ahead and he was at his locker crying after the game so when you talk to reporters not only were his eyes red he had a tearstained face a new the situation and.

"Forty nine is at cardinals this was a game that opened the big stadium in the desert now what eleven years ago a week one match up back then the niners were good back then the cardinals were mediocre and now the cardinals are again mediocre and the the forty nine irs arth on the verge of being on the cusp so to speak or on the cusp of being on the verge basically their clothes but these are still some right bananas that they're rolling out there and and you can see things are on course but in this weird in about to be gross analogy all on right bananas do as disappoint you and leave accounts to pay them note to westwood one sales team pitch metamucil and mural x on possible endorsement opportunity for niners their sorry san francisco played basically rock them sock and robots last thursday night against the rams very surprisingly entertaining game witnessed by dozens of fans in santa clara allowing forty one points in that one though pointed out some obvious weaknesses that the niners have defensively dante johnson the cornerback with abuse last week and is gonna be matched up against larry fitzgerald here old man larry just keeps rolling along the even if his even older quarterback is looking all been done 22 catchers two hundred forty four yards already for fitzgerald he says chris carter used to tell him make all the catches you're supposed to make and a few that noone expects you to make an that's back when fitzgerald sign the birth big contract back when he was too young to drink champagne to celebrate having done such a thing last year number eleven ahead and eleven catch game against these guys in in the two games totalled at about two hundred twenty yards and scored twice against have no reason to think that he won't get in the end zone again arizona's got to hope chris johnson can find that same fountain of youth from which fitzgerald has been drinking filling in of ford.

"The writers game like dirt on roll the pages of interest against the giants that within a problem ten years ago today people expect that not to change so as soon as like you're locked into the rams in the chargers and they're bad and jared gotha me watkins is not montana to raise right it's a real problem in so i do think that the national football league is going to fail by the standards we've grown accustomed to define success in los angeles will the rams build a beautiful big stadium will be worth the organization four or five billion dollars won't help is a part of the reason the olympics are going to thousand 28 will host the super bowl and the every other than on earth it will and i think he rams i cannot wait to go to the final four and the super bowl and other every other major event for she'd be a sports outcome at your stadium and i could see la becoming a market like miami miami has great fans is just they have so much fun of miami they watch it it's awesome and harder to get a seat at the bar on south beach watching the game that he game than it is an actual seat in the arena maybe it'll go that route but i think that the nfl is underestimated la's penchant to do something different and overestimated the nfl its own value in that market when it when you talk about a my opic nfl fan people aren't of el fans in los angeles and not the my sample size is huge by a lot of buddies who do a lot of different things in la ron's strict tech strings together because on the sports guy and they blow my phone about how they don't wanna be watching jerry gov on their tv and they don't want be watching the charges on the tv and i think it's a real problem for the nfl i think it's something we'll be talking about for a very very long time all right we gotta monday showing in the boats love doing it appreciate you listen in spending some time with us uh again stewart kovacs on.
