"The most memorable event? You've had your lifetime that you think of now and it seems like just yesterday, but it's a long time ago. The most memorable event to me is good. Think. Oh, I would have to say most memorable event was watching Rod Brendan or lift the Stanley Cup in six hurricanes. How about that one? All right. I think that's a good one joke other than the birth of my three sons and my marriage, But you know, I'll take the hockey one first. Yeah. How troubled out? Hope you why? It's not listen to Joe Thomas. What about you? That stuff? High school. I saw the twin towers fall very sadly on television. That was very, very memorable. Um, Yeah, well, that's a big one. That's one of mine, too. And it just seen it does seem like yesterday. I was in a business meeting and I still coffee on my tie. Check. This was early in the morning, so I went home to change ties. Thomas. Rather than go tireless. And, uh, like I always do. I come home. What is the first thing you do when you come home? You turn the TV on. Of course. Yeah, and I have mine I had still I think it automatically goes to channel 58 on my cable, which is Fox News. And Walking to the kitchen, getting some more coffee, Chuck like I didn't already with my lesson. I don't corner my high I thought I saw a plane into the building. That's right. Yeah, I didn't have the volume on the TV. Use us on that We turn the volume up and it was on very well and I sat on the couch and Thomas. I didn't leave from that place, I said For at least 14 hours. Yeah, the bathroom. There was a day. That was a very tough and everyone married, said. I remember that too. So that's a very memorable and also remember, Chuck, and I'm not gonna be happy about this one. I'm still not happy about it. 1986. Yes, I don't know what they do that because you can still do some damage with many you could you absolutely could kill people in prison with the toothbrush. They could do something with a mini bat. No, you know, Tiger Stadium. We had that, too. Obviously, when they heard the United States beat the Russians, and I was the only one that was probably upset by knowing the results. I want to watch the game. I still watch it anyway. I didn't know that history, but yeah, that makes sense and burning of Atlanta, Okay? You know, you mentioned wanting to take the game. We probably had a cassette tape VHS or something like that Back in the day, right? Yeah. If you wanted it, but they take delayed the broadcast. ABC never show that's right. Because it was different Friday nights, Right? Okay. So the best invention for me as far as saving time was the DVR digital video recorder. Yeah. Now what do you think? I say that Well, because you don't want to sit around because you probably stay up. I know little secrets about Coach beat here. He stays up until about six. In the morning. Washington shows that he DVRs right can watch a lot more shows and a lot less time. Fast forward through commercials, But that's not the main reason. Okay? I don't know anything. It looked like it might be a foul ball within it just completely straightened out from the dugout vantage point. Um and carried and we kind of got the feeling that it was going to be a homer. Yeah, I think we all got the field. It was going to be over the second, he started walking up the line to first days. Barry Bonds style. One more here from Game capital. I think about cap where all the time and all the moments that he has spent in the big leagues and all the great teams. He's been a part of you think about the The 2004 Red Sox game capture was on that roster when Big Poppy shouldn't walk off home runs against the Yankees. Down down three. Oh, he's on that Red Sox bench when Dave Roberts steal second base, and everybody in Fenway Park knows that he's going to steal and they still couldn't get him out or help. Assad is still looking for a for a sharper throw down to second base. Pretty damn pretty damn good throw, but Dave Roberts barely gets in there and and Moe didn't hold him on his as well as maybe he thought he would. Everyone knew he was going and he was safe, anyway, Cap. We're talking about the emotion of This game in his career, saying that as far as games he's been a part of or wins. He's been a part of this one ranks up there as far as feeling good emotionally. Yeah, certainly. Right up there. Um Any any come from behind. When's feel similar. I think this one had an elevated sense of of joy and excitement. Because you you know, we had a Grand Slam home run that put us Put us ahead and I think you know all of us route so hard for you as you prepare so well And he's out a tough season in some ways, and I set you up with some injuries, Sacrifices body for our club, so probably one of the reasons it was gratifying. For all of us, and to your 0.1 of the more exciting victories that we've been a part of it is because yes, was the one who got the job done. And we're really happy for him. She called for this team, man. Somebody just checked in on the Cache Creek text line to, uh nah, I'm trying to find the the texture here. Oh, here it is, a 65 vote says, And for years, Yaz wasn't able to make the powerful stacked Baltimore Orioles 40 man roster that something is just so baffling to me. There were really 40 guys. On that roster for years that were better than Mikey Stransky. Sometimes it takes a change of scenery. Sometimes it takes somebody locking in on something with you to untapped something but Michael Shrimps. He has been a huge part of this giant success over the last few years. We got to take a quick break. We're going to come back with some of the great moments. Great comeback moments over Giants history. I just pulled four or five them here for us to float out towards you were talking. Bobby Bonds were talking Brian Dalam or some of the great big come from behind wins. 2019 Stephen Vogt. Some fun stuff. On my Jastremski is first career Grand slam that helped the Giants come back from a seven Nothing deficit to get a win last night over the Arizona Diamondbacks..

He's a think like a mannequin that rolls over in bed with a man. It looks like he's story. It's Nor what do you give me for? John Hughes is like, sort of like between that and home alone. He sure had a thing for pulleys and strings. Did you do a lot of props? Yeah. A lot of problems. Just gears, pulleys and props to police. They like my comedy. I like my comedy with a lot of police. And then you got coke in with the ropes. Making the doing Yeah. You know, I didn't have like marbles on the floor gumballs gumball. Stern was stepping on Blakeney Christmas bulbs and all that you had Calkin doing The old lighter on the doorknob trick, feather. You sure? Yeah. He was just follower Feather. They will heart failure, feathered passion and not one from flower on your head made. You don't mean that. She took it over getting higher into the face to steal line. Right? Right, right. But I think they're climbing out the window on a road does anyway just like grease on the rope or so you see, that might have been. I think you might be doing a little too much dignity to blur the lines now, materially. Hughes Hughes couldn't stop himself with the props he had no, you know, we need we gotta talk. Other Joe Pesci in this one? Yeah. Talk about the second jump. Passions like I was in raging Bull. Do you know what I mean? Don't some tar on me. You know exactly a bag of flour. You know, one last one here is Dustin Pedroia. Here he goes and copes. By the way, I saw you got a loose on social media and chose put joyous retirement. To launch an attack on Pedroia by propping up Jeff Kent wasn't so much that and I actually don't have a problem with Victoria and all. I've always liked poetry, and I enjoyed his career. I just think that when we started talking Hall of Famer, it's the most like absurd, disrespectful thing ever to talk, Padre as a Hall of Famer went when Jeff can't get no love. I'm saying no to Pedroia. Absolutely not. And I'm also saying in spite of that Jeff Kent should be in the hall. Just statistically, It's so funny even as a giant hunk and everything I still don't like. No, no, no, I like him. I do. I just I kind of get why he's not all of family. And why is that them? He was just one of those guys. He did everything he said. I don't mean he was like like in the Dale Murphy realm. You know that Dale Murphy will Clark, all those guys who didn't make, you know? Yeah, he's he's in that class for May 6 great 100 R B I seasons If I walked into Cooperstown and saw Dale Murphy will Clark and Jeff can I wouldn't have a problem. However, in my mind, I put Murphy and Clark ahead of Kent. That's just me now. Clark. Yeah? Yeah. Dale Murphy, Widely disrespect. No, it's true. And he was around forever to Murphy, much maligned, completely maligned. Hey, here's Pedroia, saying that he played for a year with Big Poppy and Big Poppy never knew his first name. "Oh, Good morning, Ada. How you doing? I'm doing great. Thanks so much for joining us. What is the temperature in New England? Where does this fall people rooting for or against Brady in the Super Bowl. I think most people here are rooting for Brady in Tampa in Tampa's kind of, you know, Underdog story to start with, but the fact that times their quarterback, and there's still so much good feeling about him. And with the pages being long gone, I think a lot of a transferred over to him. I mean, there was a split early on about You're choosing sides. Do you root for the Patriots? You would for Tom etcetera. With the Patriots so far out of it most of the time. There's still a few haters who hate watch Brady want to see bad things happen to him, But that's the diminished group and it's It's been a loser's lament for those who try to do it because he just keeps winning is we see So what has this done to the narrative about Bill Bella check and the Patriots cutting bait with with Brady after last season? Well, certainly bills under a lot of heat right now, the fact that they didn't have a line of succession they didn't have. Ah, Plan B. And we know it wasn't a student because they wouldn't let him play even a gunpoint late in the year when it was obvious they were out of it. Cam Newton was underachieving wildly. So it's not stick him and it wasn't Newton and me. They waited till the last week to bring him in at LoDo, and there'll be else passed on. I mean, we saw why He couldn't throw and you know he was a great soldier and and get all the work and build was pumping his tires all year. I can't imagine they come back to that next year, especially and you know this above all of you, but with everything that's going on out there with Quarterbacks coming and going and I just got to think that whoever the quarterback of the pictures is he's not here right now. Interesting because in your piece about this, you said for Bella check, it feels worse than spy gate. Worse than deflate gate worse than even the Super Bowl losses. Why for Bill Does this feel so kind of cataclysmic? Well, the last couple weekends, you know, with them winning. It was champion winning at New Orleans. And then the Green Day. You know, it's right now. The easy narrative is Bill never won anything without Tom. Look, what time could do. You can put him anywhere and he gets right back where I was was so all of it was Tom. I dispute that. I think the larger share of the credit pie goes to Belichick over the 20 years. I do. This is the NFL the coach of the system that's more important than any one player. In my view. This isn't the end via so I'm hanging on to that. But that's a you know. No one wants to hear right now and certainly You know, Bill's gotta gotta get on the comeback trail. And you know Tom's gonna keep me in time. I'm sure. But yes. Oh, for him right now. It's just It's gotta stick in him a little bit. You know, people interviewing Brady's dad me saying that I was probably on the hot seat up there. I mean, that's just got to really break his chops in a big way. He hates that. And Sean is he joins us from the Boston Globe. Here's one thing that I was thinking about when they drafted Jimmy Garoppolo. They thought that Brady was on the decline, and it's certainly motivated Brady to become a better version of himself. Is it possible that this breed that we're seeing this year would not have happened in New England anyway? Because he needed a kick in the pants again that people didn't believe in him or he had revenge out for the Patriots. Elevate his play the spot well, given what he had here to play with, It probably wouldn't have been a lot better. I think they wouldn't wanna cook more, but they wouldn't be in the Super Bowl. In my view. I mean, he has a lot more talent there. And you know, he got things there that he wasn't allowed to do here. He was not allowed to be coach and general manager here, and he is there And he's having quote unquote fun, You know, And that's the kind of thing that again just goes right up Those key stir, you know, Go have your fun. I mean, wasn't enough fun winning six Super Bowls going to nine. So Yeah, there's there's beyond. Then Tom had a new level of commitment going to the off season workouts and just, you know, plus he had He had better offensive weapons as everybody knows, and that was said as soon as he chose that place. And they underachieved. They were clown show and that got better as it went on, And he saw the weapons even without Antonio Brown at the end, that he just he has so many ways to go, and that wasn't here. He was very proud of the last year to a New England and he didn't have much around him. Yesterday's Hall of Fame vote for Cooperstown once again brings up the question of what do you do with the bonds? What do you do with Clemens? What do you do with upcoming Alex Rodriguez? And of course, Big Poppy is well, you cover the entirety of big poppies career. What will you do with David Ortiz? Next year? Yeah, I'm a no on him on. I understand that won't be popular, but he's going to get in without my little boat. So I'm not worried about. You know, there won't be any controversy about that. But I've Steve. I've been consistent on the steroid guys. I've never been to any of them, and I know there's ambiguity this levels of it. I didn't even vote for Pudge Rodriguez Bagwell or The piazza and there wasn't as much on them. It says some other guys, It's very sketchy with some guys. Do you know that? The only test it Sammy Sosa and failed is the one that Ortiz failed. So I mean, but everybody's like all Sami's dirty look at that body..

Brady Bill Bella Tom Patriots New England Cam Newton David Ortiz Tampa Pudge Rodriguez Bagwell New Orleans Sammy Sosa Alex Rodriguez NFL Green Day LoDo Belichick Jimmy Garoppolo

Brady wants me bad things happen to him, But that's a diminished group and it's It's been a loser's lament for those who try to do it because he just keeps winning is we see So what has this done to the narrative about Bill Bella check and the Patriots cutting bait with with Brady after last season? Well, certainly bills under a lot of heat right now, the fact that they didn't have a line of succession they didn't have. Ah, Plan B. And we know it wasn't a student because they wouldn't let him play even a gunpoint late in the year when it was obvious they were out of it. Cam Newton was underachieving wildly. So it's not stick him and it wasn't Newton and me. They waited till the last week to bring him in at LoDo, and there'll be else passed on. We saw why. He couldn't throw and you know he was a great soldier and and get all the work and build was pumping his tires all year. I can't imagine they come back to that next year, especially and you know this, above all everyone with everything that's going on out there with Quarterbacks coming and going and I just got to think that whoever the quarterback of the pictures is he's not here right now. Interesting because in your piece about this, you said for Bella check, it feels worse than spy gate. Worse than deflate gate worse than even the Super Bowl losses. Why for Bill Does this feel so kind of cataclysmic? Well, the last couple weekends, you know, with them winning. It was champion winning at New Orleans and then the Green Bay. No one wants to hear right now and certainly Bill's gotta gotta get on the comeback trail and you know Tom's gonna keep me in time. I'm sure but yes. Oh, for him right now. It's just It's gotta stick in him a little bit. You know, people interviewing Brady's dad, He's saying that he's probably on the hot seat up there. Is it possible that this bree that we're seeing this year would not have happened in New England anyway? Because he needed a kick in the pants again that people didn't believe in him or he had revenge out for the Patriots. Elevate his play this spot well, given what he had here to play with, it probably wouldn't have been a lot better. I think they wouldn't want a couple more, but they wouldn't be in the Super Bowl. In my view. I mean, there's a lot more talent there. And you know he got things there that he wasn't allowed to do here. He was not allowed to be coach and general manager here, and he is there And he's having quote unquote fun, You know, And that's the kind of thing that again just goes right up. Bill's key stir, You know, Go Have your fun. I mean, wasn't enough fun winning six Super Bowls going to nine. So Yeah, there's there's you And then Tom had a new level of commitment going to the off season workouts and just, you know, plus he had He had better offensive weapons as everybody knows, and that was said as soon as he chose that place. And they underachieved. They were a clown show and that got better as it went on, And he saw the weapons even without Antonio Brown at the end, that he just he has so many ways to go, and that wasn't here. He was very proud of the last year to a new wing on him, and he didn't have much around him. Yesterday's Hall of Fame vote for Cooperstown once again brings up the question of what do you do with Bonds? What do you do with Clemens? What do you do with upcoming Alex Rodriguez? And of course, Big Poppy is well, you cover the entirety of big poppies career. What will you do with David Ortiz? Next year? Yeah, I'm a no on him on. I understand that won't be popular, but he's going to get in without my little boat. So I'm not worried about. You know, there won't be any controversy about that. But I've I've been consistent on the steroid guys. I've never been to any of them, and I know there's ambiguity this levels of it. I didn't even vote for Pudge Rodriguez Bagwell or Papi Ossa, and there wasn't as much on them. It says some other guys. It's very sketchy with some guys. Do you know that? The only test it Sammy Sosa and failed is the one that Ortiz failed. So I mean, but everybody's like all Sami's dirty. Don't look at that body..

"Um, you're right, so it it exacerbates some of your dimensions of your body. But so for Bob for Bonds and Clemens, it's one thing but for Schilling so much of what people are talking about occurred Like after he was done. Yeah, you know, if not all of it, actually, I think yeah, blows a little pain in the ass. But he was a picture, but not this But everybody, You know someone A lot of great stars were pains in the ass when they were playing like Randy Boss. Think is that Fred Johnson was historic. That's right. That's right. He was just mean and Randy Moss was the same way with the NFL. Remember this. He was like he was like a malcontent all the time, and now he's great. He's fantastical television, love my people. You got Boss Great segment. They've turned their perception about him now. But what if he had gone the other way in the NFL had a character clause and he was just like I don't know a recluse and you get off my lawn type. And, you know, talking trash on social media like Curt Schilling does. And you know, a lot of it is because he had that shirt that was like, basically hang the media, the journalist saying the journalists or whatever it may have been, and so people are taking things that happened after They're his playing career and applying applying the character clause to that which as much as I disagree, and Curt Schilling will never enter my popular list ever because of all the things that he's done, and said over the last 45 years, six years, but at the same time, if I'm evaluating him as a baseball player, it's incongruent. And so that that's the challenge with the character clause is that you can apply it, however you want. It's it's such a subjective application. It really is that it makes it unfair to be included, and but the problem is, you can't get away with it right. You can't get you can't do away with it because then guys like Barry Bonds and Clemens They rock the A rod. They get in how marrow so based solely off of accomplishment that changes that changes the whole the whole of fame. But yes, and it's never gonna revert back to that. But back in the day, it was just based solely on accomplishments. So the modern players are being judged by two different scales the back of their baseball card, but also Whether or not you agree with what they spouse whether it's political or otherwise. And by the way, just so rude. J T Realmuto, we're talking baseball. Five years $115 Million Phillies. Nice. Just saw that five years. 1 15 great player. Really good catch or five years of Buck 15 staying with the Phillies were, you know? Listen, you know what? I'm gonna waste anybody's time here and say Bonds and club course. Come on, man. I mean, They were just phenomenal at what they did enhanced medically Sure, no doubt. But to me, no doubt hold of Famers without without a speck. Of liquid from a syringe or a pill Now shillings a little different because shillings career What you're you're evaluating it two different ways. When you look at you say, Well, 216 wins. Not really. That impressive, You know, starts with Baltimore couple of nondescript years with the Phillies then and then in 93 wins the NLCS M v P. And then, of course, he becomes a beast shortly thereafter one of the all time great October legends undeniably, So it is the Yankees his postseason that you're evaluating in a lot of ways. Well, it is, but not totally. He's one of 18 pitches with 3000 strikeouts. He's one of 18 pictures. That's ever played the game with 3000 strikeouts, and by the way in the modern era, he's number one. A lot of people don't references to me. This is an important stat. He's number one in strikeout to walk ratio all time number one ahead of Randy Johnson slightly so It's just not. It's not a highly referenced that that's what that doesn't mean that people are It doesn't mean that it shouldn't be reference. Of course, you know, I mean, three World Series again If you're on three work like Bernie Williams has more than three, but Bernie wins not to hold a favor to me. Because while he was a primary piece of those Yankees dynasties of the dynasty, you know when you're on multiple World Series teams and your VHS or one of the two aces, right? I mean, those world championships feel a little different to me, all right? You wanted M v p in the world. Seriously? Yeah, all the strikeouts maker. Children's the whole thing. But I trust my eyes. I know what I saw was a beast. He didn't want to Cy Young, You know, I know. Um, but you know where he led the league twice. In case you talk about a strikeout. I mean, there are there's an argument against him being in. So the question becomes do does that postseason success, which I guess is included. I'm trying to like, you know, it's not in the 216 wins. It's not. I know I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about just in Perceptually. So if you're if you're a voter, if you're based here in the Baseball writers Association, you Are you? Do you consider the postseason? If you don't, you should never have the right to vote again, Eh? So if you're gonna include the post relinquish it, then he's almost He's almost legend in a lot of weight. That's why I believe he should be in. Yeah, And so that's that's a differentiator. When in. Is that fair all the time? No, Because some guys don't get it. They never get the opportunity. That's right to be and you need the overwhelming numbers, which he doesn't necessarily have within 216 wins. Yes, but somebody like Ernie Banks, who, as I've said many times, never played a single postseason inning, but he's got 500 bombs, so he's got the and most of all, Some came from first base. But ah lot came with shortstop when there weren't many power hitters at that position at all. I mean, their lunch of love, No bump guys and speed guys and You know, defensive players that played shortstop s O so that he hit that benchmark that got him in If Ernie banks had, I'm just throwing out a number like what's the equivalent 216 wins compared to 300. Let's say, let's say he had 300. Cause it's easier to hit a home run that wind could you play a 299 home runs rather than 500 without a single postseason hitting? He's not in it, and I'd be fine with that, too. It's just, you know, it is really, um, I wish it was more simple than this. Harold Baines. The guy got in. I'm not looking to disparage Harold Baines. I watched Harold Baines basically my entire life. Harold Baines was a D H for 70% of his career. I mean, look at the stats. That wasn't that, but wasn't that it wasn't that on purpose, though, because that's how I read it. They put they let Harold Baines because he had bad wheels. Pull that, but they let him be the president. For it. That's what this wave for the D H for them to be the D eight so that big poppy can get in and always, I think I'm just saying, that's just how it's so why should I got you? I see what you're saying. Yeah, um Because before that, there wasn't there hasn't been a D h, right? No, no, no. And then listen. Martinez is great. Edgar Martinez phenomenal. And here's the thing, too. And then obviously the doors open for Poppy. But, you know, Poppy, you know, has regular season numbers bent dwarf. Parable. All you had to do was watch the game like Harold Baines. Yeah, he was like intimidating a big left. Big, lanky, right? Played on some good White Sox teams for the A's. I know lived for a few teams when you're around. Your point is, you could have just waited for big poppy and let you get away. Big Bob, please don't think pop his own personal merit. Big Poppy would have gotten in, um, you know? But I think that the even if nobody gets in tonight, and my cold is that nobody will. Although at this point all three should But if you want to put the ped separate, I believe of the three. If I had to just say one should get in tonight, I would say Curt Schilling. He will not get in tonight, but he should you know, but at least if nobody gets voted in, Keep in Mind T because last year's ceremony was canceled cause the cove it you still have Jeter and Larry Walker this year, so it's not like it'll be an empty stage. It's it's confounding there..

"That would be your time and we do appreciate it, and I was watching a lot of lot of activity. I think you were probably watching a lot of says Well, maybe not. Double barrel baseball action and an NFL game. We're going to start with baseball. Normally, we would start with football, but I need to start with baseball because the Dodgers need some help and who better to help them. Then yours truly eso Freddie Freeman in the NLCS game in Texas, Freddie Freeman, it's the two run homer. The brake what had been a scoreless game for the Braves, who then preceded by the time they were. We're done with that little run had scored the first seven runs of the game. And they had a seven Nothing lead. They ended up holding off late Dodger push for an 8 to 7 win in Game two of the National League Championship Series. So Atlanta is up two games to none on sitting in the catbird seat. Two wins away from a trip to the World Series, and they are just write what you want to be. After two games of a best of seven situation, the Dodgers not so much the Braves are seven and Oh, To start the postseason, and they have proven that it wasn't just playing Cincinnati and the Marlins that got the Braves. All those winds. They have shown that they are legit in these first couple games now, Clayton Kershaw was supposed to pitch. For Los Angeles. He was supposed to pitch. He was scratched by back spasms out. The irony of this is I often have back spasms, watching Clayton Kershaw pitch in the playoffs, So I have that in common now in Clayton's plays Tony Goslin started and he actually I've had pitched pretty well for the first two innings in the game, and he should have ended up with a better stat line. If only Pedro Baez had not puked all over the man when he came in living up to the dodgersbullpen tradition here. It was disgusting. And then the thing that really got me going I don't normally watch these post game shows. But I kept the TV on after the Dodger Braves game on FX one and the Fox postgame coverage. You had a Rod, Big Poppy and Frank Thomas all sitting around the set there giggling like school kids very confident. Big claim, right? Right, the microphone and a camera, And they claimed that the Dodgers, according to a Rod, Big Poppy and Frank Thomas, the Dodgers had taken the Momenta R. Go Moe back because they scored all those runs late in the game, and they had a chance to tie the game in the ninth inning. Even though they didn't actually tie the game. They each one of them agreed with the other ones. That yet that Dodgers got momentum. So let us discuss the question. I think you know the answer. Do the Dodgers now have the Momenta MBE in air quotes in the National League Championship Series? About N to the O. All right. I've got the speed bump McClaren and Stockton and we will combine all these things together now, eh? I don't believe you get anything other than a l next to your name when you don't actually score more than the other team. Are we supposed to give the Dodgers a gold star and maybe an extra juice box is that we're supposed to my God. There's no moral victories were not talking about you sports here stop and this more magnum stuff. You're you're a dummy when you say the moment of its good sportscaster jargon to say, O mentum by its accepted. Unfortunately, it doesn't actually exist. It doesn't exist for the Dodgers. It doesn't exist for the Atlanta Braves. We have waxed poetic. Behind these microphones many, many times over the years about the stupidity off the term mo mentum in sports. Momenta is an abstract idea. You can mould it. However you want. Into just about anything just about anything you want to tell the story you're looking to tell it is simply an after the fact. Explanation. That's an after the fact explosion. So let's call a spade a spade. The reason the Dodgers are in the position they're in. There's a couple reasons the Dodger pitching staff has been bludgeoned. All right. They've been bludgeoned, especially the bull pain, which has let them down Bigley in these first two games, the offense I don't even give the offense that much credit because if you wait to fall behind seven and nothing I'm not impressed that you've been scored a bunch of runs late in the game. Do it early in the game. Put some pressure on the other team. How about that? And this Dodger pitching staff falling apart like wet bread makes me want to puke. Watching these guys who were so good during the regular season, and it's not like we haven't seen this before. From different Dodger teams over the years and as a result, because of this pathetic performance, the first couple of games of the series, the Dodgers are now playing uphill. You want to play downhill, It's much easier to play downhill. The Braves were playing downhill. The Dodgers are now going uphill. Scoring a few runs in garbage time does not change the fact that your offense was anemic for most of the game, all the confidence He's on the side of the Atlanta Braves, Freddie Freeman and Ozzy Alby. He's leading that Atlanta offense that has now scored 13 runs and have 18 hits in two games. 13 runs in 18 hits in two games in the National League Championship Series, and that's against the number one pitching staff in the regular season in professional baseball, the Dodgers this season. We're driving on easy street. They were in a self driving car and it was a Let's have a cup of coffee. We'll listen to some music, and we'll read something on our phones. They feasted on the National League West and the American League West do they played in our league? It was a cakewalk. They had the top record in baseball and this right here against the Braves, the first speed bump That they have faced. Down. Oh, to that is a massive mountain to climb..

"My quick and loan studio when you need certainty in the home buying process with a loan that fits your life Rocket can. Hopefully everybody's doing well on this Thursday around the country here, just trying to adjust a little something with my audio had a little issue your tea King on buddy. All right, All right. Still not working, but they don't. But good. Yeah, I can't complain, man. Even in the rain this morning through in my day to get up and start running running a week. I'm feeling bad about myself. But it's football football Thursday, Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs, a Super Bowl champion city chiefs, said Teo kickoff and let's see how many hours five hours from now. Ah, little bit more with the pre game stuff. 5 15 ish. Something like that. Yeah. Look, let's go looking for it. I can't wait. Now you will not have a less enthusiastic response to the defending world champion Super Bowl champions in in or or world champions in sporting American sporting history. Because there's going to be all these 16,000 people there. So a city that's waited forever. You know, they don't get the shower of this incredible story, this incredible team with the great adulation that they deserve from a year ago. Ah, and it's going to be a very different seasons. You and I have talked about all summer. But here we are. We're a couple of Wei a couple hours away from start this thing up. There's gonna be some tailgaters in lots of that'll lead to the At least the in game. We're not the in game, but the around the game ambience. But 16,000 people, man, that's AH, That's kind of like an old one, double a football match on Saturday where only the alums go. That's some high school football in Texas. Or that you were that places like that. Yeah, it's going to be quiet, but It is what it is. I think we've all accepted this. I think most teams we talkto Joe Judge, and that night. I believe after we talk to him, they were going to do a scrimmage or as as if it was a live game. In the stadium. I think most teams have done that. I know that you know, back when I was playing we used to. We used to go in the stadium often because it was raining. It was Astro turf, and we'd be in there and it's a dead environment. But if you go in there specifically to figure out how to play in a dead environment, I think These guys will be used to it. Once you get hit. I always say this. Once you get hit in the NFL, It's like you get pissed, and it doesn't matter if there's you know 50,000 fans 100,000 fans. There are 500 fans, The emotion will take over and I believe that that's what Well, that's what will happen. Plus, they're gonna have a little bit of that. That Dole whatever that constant little buzz a little a little barely palpable audience. I don't love that. But I guess I mean, look, it is what it is. More importantly, it's football. We have football. That's exactly right. We got football and we've got you know to one great quarterback and the other quarterback who's knocking on the door greatness and In the Shawn Watson, who always plays well as numbers of crazy on primetime stages. So you know you've got that between the absence of fans. What does it do to the home field? Home field advantage will see. There should be some, You know, some spurts of sloppiness, which could lead to some big gash plays which could lead to the over. Who knows? You know, you boys always looking at that's nine. And by the way, Kansas City lay 90 over under 52 a half man that's heavy for you know what I already bet? Watch. I'm going to be Wrong in my first one. I already bet I bet the Texans tonight. I think the nine I don't love the fact that you know Kansas City. Has really been too in their own horn this entire offseason. They're really gonna win, Foregoing five. Do there's gonna do that Guy's Ah, Listen, I love when you know when they knock back some cold ones at the parades. The Pats of the Red Sox were now for that. Back in the day. The team that was called idiots with Big Poppy and Damon a Manny. They would do that. That's fun. I love that engagement. The Eagles did it. But they have been and then maybe I'm wrong. And I don't think this derails. They're season, though it could be a bit of an impediment tonight. Doesn't it seem like the Chiefs of all the recent champions? Have been the ones doing the most yapping the coast maybe losing focus a little bit, but you know why that is the BT. It's because they're still young ish. And even if they have some old players that have been around for some time, they feel young ish, you know, and feel like they got that youthful exuberance. You know, they're not necessarily that young, like Brandon cooks is not me. Not burning cooks up. Tyree Kill is not a young man. Sammy Watkins isn't isn't a young man Travis Kelsey's 30 31 32 31 whatever it is, they've been around, but because of Pat Mahomes. It's almost like we have the we have like the youngest, most successful quarterback in the history of football. Let's be young and use his energy. So it does feel that way. But I don't know if it's a bad thing, especially if you could back it up and over the last couple of seasons BT they've They've backed it up. I mean Holmes as the most touchdowns the most Yards in the since the time he started playing in the National Football League he's got as many touchdowns in his 1st 36 games is Dan Marino had his 1st 36 games, so he's he's on historic trajectory. So you almost kind of let him be. You just hope they can all back it up, especially on the other side of the ball. We'll see. And we'll see. Ah, listen, It's gonna be a lot of fun. There's so many storylines, many of which will obviously probe more deeply tomorrow and think they've already done all summer. I mean, you got the Brady angle when this to a play when this Herbert play at his job or a look, coaches on the hot seat, you know, you and I have both your giant your giant forever. Um You know, I'm just a football guy who grew up in New York and with the Giants aren't good. It's it's It's rare and with the Giants or a little dysfunctional, it's even more rare. You know what I mean? So that Joe Judge seemingly has been hitting all the right buttons you mentioned we've had on this show a few times. I love the guy. I think the giant's going to be interesting. Big year for Dak, There's some big injuries. I mean that there's so much of play but specific to tonight, right specific to tonight. Sure, Watson You know, I've said this a few times your teeth like the word pressure to me is often misused because like If this would be pressure if our bosses like Chris Olive Arrow and carried off came and said, guys, if you don't do a great show today, we're off the air like that. That's pressure. That's right, because even though we have a contract, there's there's consequences, right? Or there could be so the word pressure is, you know, kind of twisted and manipulated and shred etched out. I think in a way that doesn't always fit the situation. But used loosely little hear me out. There's a little pressure beginning to build now on the show. What's really, he paid? That's why safe that's why I say loosely, good man, But he's not good. I got 100 or whatever. What is the total 1? 60? No, I think the total guaranteed like if he did if he craps, I think 70 radio. Yeah, I think it's like seventies three or 70 something like that. Yeah, but keep in mind. I don't have expectations for guys who aren't good, so that that's why And again putting quotes or using the word loosely, the show Watson..

"Everyone in like this? Robin is our friend of the show, Robin Oh, no, My God, look at the red flowing mane of Mr Mai. I wonder one right now with our team's like I just finally turn the game on. I forgot that I could get it on TV. So now I'm like looking at it, and it's like, Oh, my God! Alex studied and I want to say personally. I am sad that somebody defaced your area. I'm not that kind of fan. I'd rather take it out on the scoreboard. I know you're the kind of man that would have actually brought me like a Dodger T shirt or something. Just just Yeah, You're my favorite person to shop for and I go. You know somebody's got to help this franchise. I don't know They need to pay movie. Now he I'll buy a Dodger's shirt and pat look so stunning in it. Well, you are so sweet. He's a rather wild picture. Thank you, and I enjoy that. Either way, So Robin will be joining us as well. New to our baseball prediction show he was the Senate delivers Canoga Park Little League team, please welcome, Greg. Pay everyone is Greg. How are you, buddy? I'm well, Thank you. Just, you know, hanging out in my red Sox gear. Yes. Thinking about smoking a big poppy, You know, since you and I don't do that often enough, but Now you are referring to a cigar? Everyone in case you're wondering, I'm referring to a cigar. By the way on your Red Sox jersey doesn't say cheaters on the front or back. I was just wondering, Is it just for you? I stenciled on the front and Zach you very much is so much for that. So Greg is new to our prediction show and Greg's a big Baseball fan, and we're friends and in cigar, nous and baseball and and in friendship, Speaking of friends, and we've been friends for a long time. What did I just do? Greg called back. How did I drop him? Great. Call me back. I sacrificed Greg or speaking baseball. So that was the sacrifice. Hollaback gentle. I don't know. That just happened. I'm sorry. Great. Billy Bones is our friend who joins us every year in the baseball prediction show. Hey, buddy, how are you, Billy? Hey, I know what happened. You forgot to lock him in. That's right. I did absolutely forgot. You didn't know. Easy Die Mommy! Old technical director. Are you back, Greg? I'm back and back, eh? Sorry about that didnt mean it wasn't gives your team cheated against mine that I locked you out. There was just a complete action. And by the way, you know, I know it's Red Sox hating. Yes. Oh, Bill is back. Robin is back. Greg is joining us for the first time, Kendal I wanna know. Are you going to be playing along this year? Kindled sometimes, but I don't know anything like I like to listen to you guys and I liketo Can I pick for Kendall? I thought if she didn't have a fix that we can all pick Tate, if you want to pick for me, I don't. I thought we could look for her so so amusing if she big for herself. That's what I said. That's what I tried last year. You know what you did very well. She did pretty good. She really did think I just did it because of the animals that I liked you, and that was perfect. Cardinals were good filly like horses. Birds system. Yeah, you did better. And I did right And she pays attention all the time. Yeah, so, you know Don't be hard on yourself. Go rob in his back and then and Bill is back. And here's what and Bobby's back. It is one of the reasons Rai is because they actually paid upon their bets. I figured this year for the second year in a row of people didn't pay upon their bets. They can't come back on the show. Okay, on your back that you can't come back on the show s o this year. What we have. I think it's the same way we've done it every year. The remind me to tell me if I'm wrong, but so because it's an abbreviated year, a 60 games right? So I figured that we could do it like this. We could you all pick four from the national four from the American and then we'll have the championship. Siri's The World Series matchup. And then who's going to win the World Series? Is that sound fair to everyone? Yes. Good. Okay, so absolutely. We kind of need to iron this out, too, Because let's say if Let's say that one of us gets the most teams picked out of the eight to begin with, Okay? So like if one of us gets to know four or five out of the eight, and that's more than everyone else, but someone else still has a team or even two teams in the playoffs and impossible World. Siri's I think we wait until the end. So does if someone picks the World Series winner. I think that trumps everything else Would you agree with that? What if the enemy and if they pick the two World Series participants, then I think that's a pretty good that's like second and then third would be, in my estimation that the championships and then of course, forthe would be the most teams pick. Does that work for everyone? Well, if there's a tie breaker, I thought it would be fun. I had a friend who passed away and he left me one of these baseball little spin games with Oh, yeah, we could just do that play static craft person actually has to play a little TV baseball game like two innings or something. Playoff trivia game. Yeah, I love it. So So all of you hang in there, Kendall, Make sure they're all locked in when we come back. I want here four teams to meet. Here We go breaking news, Traffic and weather on news, 93.1 kfbk..

I don't know what I was thinking. They had a lot fun yesterday doing the show and we'll have more fun. Today is a matter of fact. Kim Jones going to join us? Little bit later, Duke Jim Duquette will join us as well. I think Larry Doby Junior is going to Jonas Jonas, Son of Larry Doby. Great lover knew our his dead on this date. 1947. Of the color barrier in the American League. And what are your names? Career? Great man passed a few years ago. There's good friend. Play football Do play in the minor leagues for awhile. Good guy. Great. Good players, So I'm a little older than you, Dave. So I actually and I started watching baseball. Probably when I was about seven or so. So I do remember Larry Doby. Remember how good a player he Waas Tio. He was trade with the Indians later with white socks, and before he retired, went into the hall. I think, but 20 years ago, so I don't know exactly. But it was about 20 years ago. I think Went into inducted into the Hall of Fame fame is a player 1998 98 22 years ago in back of a careers I look at the number I mean, he made the All Star game from 1949 through 1955 twice led the league in home runs once an R B eyes. Uh, leading slugging once on O P s about player. Yeah. How about this That I mean, nobody paid attention to O P s back in that day, but for three's out of three straight years, he had over a 900 0 ps on number three straight. Yeah, there's 51 or 50 53 52 somebody, but Probably best year was 50 for when they went to the World Series and ended up getting sweat there, but he had a great year that year 32 in 1 26 8 47 Oh, P s. That's that's big time, and I mean he posted to 101 154 games. In those years. He played 153 675 plate appearances. It's the most in his career and officially bees. He had 5 77 So I mean, that's every day. A man you know you got him in the lineup. He was Let's see. 8 76 career. Oh, Pius, hey, was was solid, solid player played every day Hardnosed player. Very good, Very, very good player. I remember when I was young and again, he retired. You know, I was still working like that. And you go up to Boston to say yes. The American looks at it. I did the time I started really paying attention to baseball. The ace had left Philly. So from figured, 1957. I'm figuring that's when I picked up baseball. Actually, a guy named George Anderson play second base on a limited basis because it went on to become a Hall of Fame manager Sparky Anderson. There's some bad Phillie teams, man. They let the What was that the whiskey It's rolled didn't move him and it didn't work out. Robin Roberts toiling and this static is gonna go on headset. You do have a little static on your static in Seattle. Live live from Mars, everybody. Um, yeah, but 1957 I think was here first start really getting looking Baseball aboutthe. Same time for men in love with it Ever since. I listen to. Ah, Louise Ross. Awhile ago, you had a press conference over at Citi Field is the Mets continue to workout to Graham through. Ah, some today. Let's see. What we're going to do is simulate again this afternoon, which is, which is good news. They're going to start that do some sim games. They've been doing live BP, They'll get into that. Um, Ed Rosario, Their shortstop, will get his first workout this afternoon. They have the starter's out there the other day, But human it's Andre Semanas was was subbing for Rosario Church is one of their top prospects. You guys have so many new names. Yeah, well, you know, it's unbelievably mean. It's the same with our club in Seattle. We got a bunch of kids start now, so And if I started running banter, you wouldn't know. Maybe here's Here's old name. That is kind of interesting. According to what Louis said today. Melky Cabrera, who you Well know, man, melt, man. There you go. Switch hitter, but he Ah Louise says that he's he's got a shot for the club, You know, obviously with the expanded rosters to because he is a career to 85 hitter always hit wherever he's been, But he can dhd and they actually said they may try. I'm a little bit of first base, which I thought kind of strange, but Is he's been an outfielder. I don't think he's ever played first base. Maybe he's messed around there a little bit, but it's It's another spot you could. But he's a switch hitter and listen. He can hit and he's versatile. So No one. I don't have a guy like that coming off your bench. You know, I think that helps an awful lot. So hey, signed him. Yeah, they sound in just a few days ago. Just prior to coming in. They can slash with the best of anyone a batting title. I think he did. Yeah, I'd have to check out. I don't remember. But I think it's possible you and you know, how do you feel about this? How do you fit about D h now in the national legal Easter this year? I think it's here for good. My side. Like I've always said that I'm not. I'm not a d h man. I'm just not because I like I like the National League style play, and I like having those decisions put on the manager to, you know, stick with your starter, or, you know, go to your pen. I like that in the game A TTE the same time. I've always said I'm not going to go kicking and screaming. It's going to change. It's gonna happen, and I think I think you put it in now. I don't see them taking it out. Next year. I'll be shocked if they do they do find, but I think it's here and that's that's just the way you go. Yeah, I grew up nationally guy. I've been doing baseball here in the American League now 13 years going into your 14 what? You've got to be used to it by now. Yeah. You know, I don't have a problem with it. And it keeps a guy like Nelson Cruz in the game. Big happy, And you're Martinez of Harold Baines in the Hall of Fame measures in the Hall of Fame. Big Poppy will go in the Hall of Fame. L Nelly may have a shot. I just like the offensive component and knowing that And it's I don't want to say I don't want to equate it to softball or anything like that. But it's nice to know that you got a hammer in the for five or six, but that could drive. That's a run and it's you know, it's all about scoring runs. And and I get free beers on never here when I was at the Daily News, nor Miller late, Great Giants beat writer usedto talking about managerial moves that double switch and he says, Oh, here we go action.
