"You know what that means. That means Dwayne will be sitting in for me tomorrow. That's what that means. That means the Browns, the Cleveland Browns, are on Monday Night Football tonight against the Threaded Steelers, and they gotta go play in Pittsburgh. Last time I recall a Pittsburgh game, the Steelers snapped the ball over the head of Terry, not Terry, Big Ben Roethlisberger at the start of the playoff game. That's all I remember about Pittsburgh, but tonight I will be screaming from 8 .15 East Coast time until probably midnight. I don't know how long the games go with the new rules, but whatever, Dwayne's gonna come in and talk to you about the Browns win tomorrow, and then I'll be back on Wednesday. The real reason for that is that we have friends in town that we haven't seen in a couple of years, and we are going to go show them down East. So I'm gonna be down East after I'm up late watching the Browns. So tomorrow morning, if anything bad happens, it's Dwayne's fault. I wanna begin today with a horrible story, and it's every parent's nightmare. If you got little kids in the car, you may not want them to hear this because it's just every parent's worst nightmare. It's a small story, right? With terrible tragedy, involves four children. A baby died after ingesting fentanyl at a New York day school preschool nursery. Three other children from the Divino Nino daycare were hospitalized and treated for opioid. Now, two adults have been arrested for reckless indifference, and two are charged with murder for the death of the one -year -old.

"So, we saluted the life of Jimmy Buffett yesterday, properly so, but boy did we miss a birthday yesterday. Freddie Mercury would have been 77, passed away back in 91, so I had to pick a Queen song, had to pick a Queen record. How about You're My Best Friend for the Mike and Mark segments? Not bad. There you go, buddy. We can sing We Are the Champions because we're the champion of all things mysterious. And topics that need to be explored. We go where few dare go. You shut me down yesterday when I told you about the Delta Airlines flight that was forced to land. But then, of course, you saw it all over Twitter and X and everything, right? Well, I know because everybody's 12 years old. Somebody had a, I don't even want to say it again, somebody had a horrible digestive event on a plane and they had to sandblast the plane for six hours. They had to replace the carpet. I mean, they had to replace the carpet on the plane. That's a true story. Can you imagine being on that plane and the poor pilot, and there's an audio recording of the pilot saying, five, seven, one, Delta heavy. We have a biohazard problem on the plane. The biohazard. Ladies and gentlemen, you may want to look over the left side of the aircraft because that's where we're going to be issuing the parachute so that you can get the hell off this thing before we all die. I'd never fly again. That'd be it. That'd be it. And speaking of flying, didn't you do it yet? Are you in New York yet? Today? No, after the show today, I'm headed to New York where it's going to be 110 degrees. You know, Texas heat is one thing. New York City heat is ghastly because there's no breeze. You're walking up and down. So we're going to see the Eagles in concert tomorrow night. I'm going to see a couple of shows. We've got some meetings. I'm going to go to Philly for a big event. Oh, cool. With Chris Stiegel. Is that our guy? Chris Stiegel and Dennis Prager and Pastor Robert Jeffers from your neck of the woods. That's right. That's so cool. I have a question for you. It's called, for a moment, welcome to Mike's Entertainment Options or Mike's Travel Habits. As we have noted, you are fresh back from the UK. I trust you had a magnificent time. So Mike's on the ground in England for 24 hours, sends me a picture off of his balcony. Was that a CG? Was that a green screen? Because from your balcony, it's like, oh, there's the London Eye, oh, there's Westminster Abbey. Where were you? Well, there's a story behind that. I'm a little reluctant to tell the story. Joey and Peg are my dear friends. Joey's a little more frugal than I am. And he found a hotel. And I'll go ahead and say it. It was a nice Marriott right on the River Thames, right outside that giant monstrosity eye thing. That Ferris wheel. It's a massive Ferris wheel. It's gross. I mean, I think about the River Thames and I think of Mary Poppins floating gently. Big Ben and all these beautiful, and then there's this monstrosity, and Brits don't like it either. Everybody kind of, it's a cool tourist thing and you go up and it's one of those giant Ferris wheels. Anyway, the hotel, this Marriott is right at the Ferris wheel. So not only is the infernal thing beeping every time it moves, and so you hear the beeping in your room, but like you saw, you're right there. I mean, the view is crazy, but not only that, but the deal breaker for me, the AC wasn't so good. Is England like Laguna Beach, California, where we stayed at a beautiful place and it happened to be 82 and they didn't have any AC? I thought I was going to die. Well, you know, again, the UK, they're not really like AC -oriented like we are. They have it, but I said, that's it, I'm out, King Tut needs some AC, I got to have air conditioning. And it wasn't even hot over there, but at night, I don't know, I mean, God forbid if the day ever comes where they yank the rug out from under me and I'm, you know, singing show tunes at a cheeseburger joint on the weekends and I can't afford an air conditioner because I got to have an air conditioner. Anyway, I knew of a place, a much nicer hotel, so we actually checked out. That was a one -day gig, but it was spectacular visuals. And speaking of show tunes, that leads me to my actual really quick question because there is stuff going on in the world. So you sent me, as you always do and I love it so much, it's like, hey, look where I am, hey, look where I am. And on at least a couple of occasions, you were in the front row, shocker, of this magnificent show. I guess it's called Tina or somebody is Tina Turner and wow, was she good. Wow, was she good. It's actually a Broadway show that also went to the West End and there was, I saw a woman named Adrian Warren who played the show, played the part, but yeah, it's a musical about the life of Tina Turner. And on another night you went and saw Les Mis. The best production of Les Mis I've ever seen in the history of going to the theater. I bet it was great. But here's my question and here's where you and I are a smidge different. Okay. You're in London and you go to Broadway for lunch like every day. So there's a whole country outside this theater as you sit in a seat and see something that is admittedly fantastic, but that you could see at some other time a hundred yards from where you're staying. But the West End is London's version of Broadway and they do theater a little bit differently. First of all, I mean, the ticket prices are even more affordable. You know, you sit in the stalls over there. They don't call them seats.

"All right. Now that I lost half my fan base and everyone's really mad at me. I don't know. It's really weird to get, I got some hate, dude. I put that thought on my Instagram story that I wasn't really sad to see Ben go. And again, I don't want my lack of sadness to be. I'm not mad at Ben. I'm just not. I'm not sad. I'm like, oh, kind of. I'm kind of like, oh, good, good riddance. Let's move on and get to the next in Pittsburgh. I put that on my Instagram story. Oh my goodness, dude, I got so many hateful mean angry messages, and by the way from people that clearly like, have followed me for a long time and have sent me a lot of messages before, and I'm very nice. I'm like, apparently I said something there though. Don't attack our quarterback, and they were saying it means stuff about my ex-girlfriend about, oh, I mean, all kinds of stuff. Just like crazy things, I'm like, man, I don't know. I'm really glad to talk about sports for a living because it doesn't really matter. To me, there's so much awful crap going on in the world every day everywhere. I'm just glad I talk about sports, because sports for me are a great escape to focus on when the world feels like The Hunger Games outside. I'm like, okay, you know, at least I can watch the playoffs and enjoy that part of my life. And so I was maybe not surprised, but definitely like, oh, people are really mad about this opinion in that. I'm not going to not share it because it makes people mad, but I think someone's going to agree out there and go, yeah, I kind of feel the same way about Big Ben. And that's the person I'm targeting is the people that have been hearing for weeks about how sad and tragic it is a big bend's leaving. And some people like me are kind of like awesome. Awesome, let's move on to whatever's next in Pittsburgh. Okay. One topic left, let me drink some water real quick first. Water with the good old vitamin C baby. Today I shaved my good like the quick shave where you just shave your neck and above the lip line. I hate, by the way, the worst thing in the world is when someone has like a mustache up of their lip that hangs and curls into their mouth and their mustache is slightly wet because they're always getting the ends of their mustache. It's gross, shave it. Cut it? Get a short little razor, but right across that, you know, it's not that hard and makes a huge difference. The guys who have that mustache that curls into their mouth, gross. I can't do it. I think it's so nasty. Have as much as you want under your mouth. Great. I don't mind the people that have the low hanging massive beard. I think it would drive me nuts because it would itch like crazy, but the one that hangs in your mouth. Like, come on, bro okay. Fix that. That's not a good look in my opinion. And I couldn't imagine kissing someone with tyke. I feel bad for girls. You've got guys who've got that kind of beer that hangs in their mouth. I just think it's nasty. Anyway, now that I'm oh gosh, I'm getting like a sweat, what is it? And whatever, who cares? On Sunday, Jesus can't even talk with team. On Sunday, the Buccaneers beat Philly 31 to 15. And Philly is now out of the playoffs..

"It's not even close. I mean, Tom Brady at 44 just led the NFL in almost every statistical category throwing the football. Ben 39, 5 years younger and the same year looked totally washed up. And Ella key said the right stuff at the end and you gave that speech. I gave it my all. I want you to know I did everything I could every game and I'm a stealer for life and that's great marketing and this PR person told me to say that and good for him. But to me, my impression of Big Ben, especially towards the end, was he never seemed very driven. When you watch, Tom Brady puts out that message over and over, he's clearly working his tail off. And for a few years now, it felt like Big Ben, which was kind of waiting to retire. Like, well, if they're not going to kick me out, I'll still hang out here, but I'm not working that hard. I'm kind of just like I hate taking a shot at his physique, but you're like, dude, what are you doing? So to me, again, the words that come to mind for Big Ben are uncompelling and uninspiring. He had a good start to his career and some good years early on, but the final years of his career were a lot of mediocrity and a lot of like, yeah, it's fine. And I don't want to delve into his history with women, but you're right about that. And you're like, wow, this guy is supposed to be like a hero of the NFL, Big Ben. In fact, if you want to read about Big Ben's history with women, you can. I read it, and I was like, I don't like reading that at all. And it's kind of like, we're going to look at deshaun Watson in the same way when he retires. We're going to go, hey, really talented player who kind of seemed scummy with how he handled women off the field early in his career..

"We don't see a lot of those where a guy get a safety is a truly really good hit on a receiver knocks the ball free and isn't penalized because it wasn't penalty worthy. It was just a really, really good clean it well done by Nick Scott. I haven't seen a hit like that in a long time. That was clean and I was just like, wow, what a play. Anyway, AJ green drops the ball. And it's pretty clearly not a catch to everyone watching I was surprised again, and they ruled a catch live. And cliff Kingsbury was just begging. You know, that's a catch. That's a cat, just begging you sonic doing this motion and the catch signal on the sideline. And the word that comes to mind is desperate. Like he all he wanted was something handed to help them get something going. It was sad. And on the very next play, it's ruled an incomplete pass. So now they're third down. And Kyler throws a horrible awful pick 6. He's holding out of the ball way too long. He makes it throw. He should never throw like kind of as he's following kind of flips it forward, gets caught pick 6, touchdown, give the rams a 21 to nothing lead. It was all bad. And from an Arizona perspective from Buda baker getting hurt to the pick 6 to the horrible stuff I mean, everything you can imagine for an Arizona fan. Their perspective is that the game was ugly, awful and tragic. I mean, JJ watt made it come back that was kind of cool. He made a comeback after hearing his labrum earlier in the year. I respect the effort, but he didn't do very much. And if you're in Arizona fan and here's how I know I'm not biased, I picked the rams to win, but I found myself in my heart rooting for Arizona. I wanted Arizona to win this football game, and I don't know if it's because they were getting killed and I wanted something good to happen to them. I don't know what happened there, but I did find myself rooting for Arizona, watching this game. And even though, and I was like, I hope my prediction is dead wrong. I picked the ram, so I'm like, I want Arizona to win this football game. Didn't happen. Now Matthew Stafford, the rams quarterback had kind of a kind of a weird day. I don't know if it's weird as the right word. He was efficient, he was very good, he had zero turnovers. I love that. No interceptions, no fumbles, played a very clean football game. But he was 13 for 17 passing for 202 yards and two touchdowns. Yeah, 13 completions, 17 total passes thrown. Hey, that's a good day, like well done, but B he only had to throw the ball 17 times. Arizona did not challenge the rams at all. Very, very disappointing because I thought, man, got me Monday night. Got to be wild. Going to be fun. And go watch the game again if you want to. Look at the faces of all of the Arizona Cardinals. They're coaching staff. Their players, as they walked off the field, it was 21 nothing, as they walked off the field that for halftime..

"And then I was very sad to see Ben Ben Roethlisberger on Monday Night Football walk off. It's his last time he's gonna play at Heinz field in Pittsburgh and he's had an 18 year career and not all of it was great, but you know, he's Big Ben. He's had his ups and downs, but he won a Super Bowl and it was touching to see him walk away. They were just a couple of exits the last few days that really got to me. And his emotional as I was last night, I sat up and I watched Big Ben walk off that field. And I watched him talk to the reporter who was trying to encapsulate what he must have felt. And you know, he took a lap around the stadium just to touch people's hands. It was very touching.

"They're like ah. Let's just ignore it. It'll figure itself out no it won't. You have to find a way to win with Big Ben playing badly. Or replace Big Ben. So that's why they're losing. Management in Pittsburgh did not decide to solve the big bend problem. They're like, let's bring them back for one final year. Like, oh. Okay, you guys got sentimental. And I get it. He's a Hall of Fame quarterback is one of two super bowls, fair enough. But they didn't even trade for Gardner to meet you. They weren't like, let's just get a backup quarterback in case. There's no plan for after Big Ben and Pittsburgh. And they had plenty of warning, and they had plenty of opportunities to solve that problem and they didn't do it. If it were me, I'd have a quarterback waiting for after Big Ben. Maybe that's Duane Haskins, although I don't think so he doesn't even dress down for games. Mason Rudolph certainly is not the answer after Big Ben retires. And if you're a steelers fan, I think this whole process is unforgivable. I don't know why people never challenge ownership or never challenge. People yell at the coach. But the ownership is someone that if you want to punish ownership, don't watch, don't buy stuff, don't go to games..

"We blame the quarterback. We blame everybody, but the name and I don't live in New York. I don't know what's being said in New York. But I know that nationally, people always talk about the coach and the quarterback. And this and that, the offensive coordinator, people, I think tend to forget the guy that picks the players often has an impact on how good the football team is. Dave gettleman is the biggest problem the Giants have right now in their franchise. How about Pittsburgh? Things are bad in Pittsburgh right now, too. Things are bad right now in Pittsburgh, they're one and two, they just lost to the Bengals and Cincinnati. Big bend their starting quarterback. By the way, the game I guess was actually technically in Pittsburgh. So they lost in front of their home fans. I remember seeing the here we go, sign in the background. I love that statement. It's beautiful. Big Ben, the starting quarterback of Pittsburgh had two interceptions against Cincinnati last week and week three. He's been very, very frustrating to watch this year in the NFL. And people are quick to call him washed up. I would say like, it's only three games. I don't want to get so caught up in the moment that I forget that the Steelers beat buffalo week one. It was a good win. Big Ben did it up to win that game..

You do not need to draft a running back number two overall. For your running back to make an impact. By the way, Nick Chubb is available in the second round. 34th overall, when they drafted will Hernandez, they could have got Nick Chubb or running back instead. By the way, Nick job is now a star running back in Cleveland. And he was taken 35th overall one pick after the Giants drafted in the second round of 2018. So again, I would take offensive guard Quinton Nelson number two overall instead of saquon Barkley. Then in the second round of the draft in 2018, if I could time travel, I would draft running back Nick Chubb instead of offensive guard will Hernandez. And it's kind of funny. I actually think Dave gettleman had the right idea here. You need to fix the offensive line. You need to draft a running back. Him and I just disagree on the value of offensive lineman, because I would prioritize the offensive line. The O line is more important to be talented than you're running back. Nick Chubb is good enough. Cyclin Barclay is incredible, yes. But the difference between Nick Chubb and sake on Barkley and the gap between will Hernandez and Quinton Nelson is the gap between the two offensive linemen, I just mentioned are way bigger. Quinton Nelson is the guy I would pick and then I'd get another quality running back in the second round. It is actually harder to find a guard that Quinton Nelson than it is to find a running back who can contribute and get a lot of yards..

"I know, if you look at the sheet, you're like, wow, they didn't do very much to get pressure on Trevor Lawrence. The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback. They had a ton of pressure on Big Ben Big Ben's an idiot who holds on the ball way too long and this would not let him play die would not check the ball down. Big Ben is infuriating. And the Bengals are made his life made his life very difficult and week three, but if you look at the box score, you're like, well, the Bengals defensive line, they didn't have a single sack. The only sack was what's his name Wilson, the linebacker. So here's the thing. Trevor Lawrence was running around with keeping plays alive, and he had to leave the pocket constantly because of the pressure that the Bengals defensive line got. And this Bengals defensive line is making a big impact. There was a play, they stopped Jacksonville on fourth and goal from the one yard line, and that stop was the difference in the game. Cincinnati won by three points. If they give up a touchdown there on fourth and goal, ball game over. Shout out to this Bengals defense. They're great. I'm very impressed with them. And the events of line. I knew they were good, but I knew that Sam Hubbard was good. I knew that trae hendrickson was good. BJ hill can sample these guys are emerging and you're like, dude. They're so deep. It's crazy. Now Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson this guy is having an unbelievable stretch of games. In the last three games, Logan Wilson has 33 tackles, three interceptions in a sec, a sack on Trevor Lawrence last night. Do you understand that Logan Wilson last year as a rookie? In 12 games, had 33 tackles, he's had that many tackles in three games this year..

It's kinda like one in that After week three will really become experts again right like we know what to make of the packers getting beat up by the saints and then the saints losing to carolina like oh man i Now we need to see three games right like we didn't know what the bills getting beat by the steelers. Like if the cowboys beat the eagles like okay then like oh we get it. They're like the eagles in week. One against the falcons before we knew how bad they were. They look great. It looks faster than everyone else is making smart decisions then week too. Awful barely scored in that game so We do need this one more game to determine basically nothing we still learn. Yeah week four is my favourite week to bed. I think yeah yeah. 'cause it's like the rock paper scissors magic you brought up the panthers. I think the panthers might be good and you were talking about. How good their defense on thursday. Like even with mccaffrey out. I think people are going to be off in them but that team that teams good. They fly around there fast. They have goods go guys. They're well coached. And now you look back at that saints game in week to were the state. And then the saints. Going to new england and that line is like suspiciously. Only pats by three. Because i think people were the sharps. Were factor in like. Hey carolina's get. The carolina might be a really good team. That's why the saints look bad right. And i think also the saints. Losing seven coaches action. But lastly you have the kansas city chiefs four teams right in the afc. I have over the patriots right now coming here because i love what the patriots did this off season. I particularly love their defense. We spent so much time talking about mac versus cam camac or whatever. Forget about it doesn't really matter who's playing quarterback. This team is a playoff team. And like max. I do believe they are a playoff team. It will be. It'll be because of their defense may get everyone back. Seven is gonna look like some of the old front sevens your from these preseason games again. Everyone's been so obsessed with quarterbacks we have ignored the fact that jude on looks like a perfect fit in the system is ability to dropping coverage his versatility upfront. He's the bill belichick dream. Josh gonna make the leap. I would not be surprised if this is the top five unit in the nfl. But i cannot pick them to win the super bowl when they're not even the best team in their division harry's right the bills are better team. The ravens are a better team. The chiefs are a better team. I'll throw the browns in there as well to at best i view the pats as the fifth best team in the afc again. They are a playoff team. They're going to be Heck of a lot better than they were last year but super bowl. There's just two daughters that are more complete than they are. The best team don't always win the hottest team the healthiest team. The point is if you can if you have a winning formula and you get hot in the playoffs if you acknowledged. They can make the playoffs. I wouldn't rule them out now. I wanna get to harry's point for a second 'cause i think it's a good one about the chiefs. How do you get by the chiefs patriots. Don't have to get by the chiefs necessarily per warren sharp sharp analytics the way to beat the chiefs as by outscoring them right. Like that's why the bills are the best outscoring any team. Yes but you've got to put points on the board when you do when you had thirteen points in the first half the chiefs eleven eight. So they're not much better than five hundred and when you score under thirteen points in the first half you are like one out of thirty four so it's impossible to beat them so that doesn't sound like the patriots to me against the chiefs but someone else can play traffic cop with chiefs like it's the chiefs could lose to someone else. Leaving the path clear for the patriots. I agree you can find teams where people right now say that that team has a better chance but the patriots or one of a handful half doesn't teams you. Look at least. I look at and i go. They have a shot. And i will tell you why more than anything else bill. Belichick is a great coach. Bill belichick with time to gain plan like bill belichick. We can focus all his energy. What was the real difference in the patriots. Obviously tom brady. But no preseason no practice practice facility shuts down for a whole bunch of players. Lost a brand new quarterback and belichick still manage to squeezed seven very nearly nine games out of that. Now you have a preseason. You're going to have practice. You're going to have your practice. You have your defenders back. Meet brought up what they did on defense. You have talent on the offensive side of the ball and you still got chick. Count him out at your own peril. Now mex- i've always been a great listener and listen to everything that you just said and the main thing that you said. Is that the way to beat. The chiefs is by outscoring them. There's no way inhale that you think that the new england patriots is going to outscore the kansas city chiefs. Correct wrong correct. then how. They're going to beat them. But that's what i'm saying. They don't have to beat them. What else can knock off the chiefs and the patriots could match up. Well that team. And i actually think they're going to benefit from all of these light defenses in the league and i love that about the way the strategy they've taken to the season meaning calms. I am so glad you brought up that point. Why because that's who the baltimore. Ravens are the cleveland. Browns are the tennessee. Titans are all the we name over the patriots. Well point exactly see you gotta worry about the defense and the other two. You don't have to worry about the defense. They make moves in the off season. We'll defense we'll see. The point is the i would say. I'm not thinking on tennessee. Having a very good defense. I would say the patriots. Ravens and browns will have good defenses to one degree or another. But i would say yeah. The browns are live. The ravens are live and the patriots are live. And you know what all these teams have that. The patriots don't have certainty at the quarterback position because we'll two hundred center in new england. And i'm going to hold off super bowl judgment until we've got some certainty about that but certain ti- like right if we knew that cam newton was what he once was even even. If you can't trust the passing consistently whatever we wouldn't be having the same conversation right now time cam. Newton's best receiver was tight end. His best receivers both tight ends now and he was his own running back right. So that's that's gonna get better there for cam newton. I also have mentioned earlier. When you're talking about career you have to consider where. The players ended up honestly destination. It's destiny half the time when it comes quarterbacks in the nfl. And i love the coaching staff in new york. I love corey. Davis and the more i also think. Trevor lawrence has a really excellent underrated group of skill players in jacksonville with shark and marla. Marvin jones and i have concerns about the coaching staff. But i'm not going to throw out. Trevor lawrence his entire college career in which he proved he. He showed us the tools that made him the undisputed number one after two preseason game one in his case like lettuce exercise some patients. When i'm looking at these guys. I'm considering their entire body of work. And trevor lawrence's entire body of work in college was more impressive change absolutely but at this point i'm riding with the guy who was number one overall pick for reason and that reason was his arms and his legs. You can't argue against luther. Is i have no idea who's the best out of these guys. Especially the top four guys right and that jones looks good to god more guys. I don't know who's going to be the best. I will say this. There are some drafts in different sports. Where you're almost happy to be drafting second. you know. it's like that choice the choice that you would. There's no one who could have passed on. Trevor lawrence because he checks every single box and it's not just like checks every box the way sam darnold did in a way that that baker mayfield didn't it's that he checks it at a crazy elite level. You can't pass on them. And that's why i was kind of i if i were the jets. I'd be psyched about drafting second because of all the guys. I saw that. I really wanted if i was that wilson based on what i saw he was the guy that reminded me the most of the two guys who i think are the best that i've ever seen mahomes and aaron rodgers. I think the jets may have. I don't know but maybe they did lockout because that decision was taken off their plate imax. I had guys tell me that. They wouldn't take. Zach wilson over a lot of these other quarterbacks right but i watched a film and i dived into the field and i told them the fall back a little bit. I say fall back a little bit. Because he was decisive. He knew what he wanted to do with the football he was orchestrating things but the off platform throws that right there. You can't get from. Everybody can make those two guys. You're going to see them that you're going to see them just at six six. It should make it more impressive. Somehow it's like yeah. NFL suspends all activities for Titans after positive COVID-19 cases
