What's the big deal? We'll just charge a few more million for the next movie. The next Snickers commercial. Whatever it is We can afford anything they throw at us. Yes, of course you interfere with them. And their mansions in Malibu and Beverly Hills and then my God, none of Then you got big tech. Tech. Big tech relies on big government. Not only for sales, why do they rely on big government for special protections? The federal government were to say today. Hey, no more business with Communist China. My mom downtown cleveland so she went to catch a bus and my dad drove off to work and we had plans to go to mike. Graham's for lunch around ten fifteen walk to my grandma's house and we've stopped by her hearing it and a loaf of bread. We probably got there around eleven. They're washington set. My grandma's hear me at lunch with her and definitely called her friend. Barbara and they solidified their plans. Barber would come to house between one one thirty and the two of them would walk. Marches mutual friend. None at twelve. Thirty when beverly left mike. Grandma's neighbor cold her son who just finished the job interview downtown. That definitely really liked and wanted to get six for my great grandma the jeweler said about worth fixing and then she had a friend. "But i can't say exactly what the thought was back then but what they were thinking or what they had. They investigate every single lead every single chip that came in and if there were kids by in rope six counties away they went out to that hardware store. Just see who did it. I mean that's how thorough they work. And then cleveland. To i mean cleveland back in the sixties with sl you jus- coming together. They were top notch as far as fingerprints crime scene. That was the best that they had back then so they had those guys there to helping them but when they interviewed him. I don't know. I can't say cause i wasn't there but i don't know i. I wish i had a crack at them but i don't know how to answer that i just wasn't there so i don't know didn't law enforcement. Recover any trace evidence. I can't really get into that. I'm sorry about that. I am sure he would have left something behind if the killer stab beverly forty times with a knife it would be really slippery and i know it is easy to cut yourself with a knife. And if his hand got what then he most likely cut himself blood at the scene and likely even has a few scars on his cutting hand from all those years ago. Yeah i wouldn't disagree with you at all on that but the crime scene itself and they was a little disorganized. You could tell. Obviously a struggle happened. And whatever. But i believe bud that barbara heard that she said something like furniture was actually that was beverly body fallen off the bed onto the floor and you can tell by some of the splatter and good blood that that's exactly what happened so in your opinion. Is this case going to be solved. Well i'll tell you what this is. Where i put on my hope since when i first got a detective bureau. "Would start off sleeping in that bedroom and then in the spare bedroom. It was just too hard for me to be thinking about what happened though. I mean it was just like they're a lot. I don't know if i could have. I would have been comfortable shunned dorm. Staying out was a reason why your parents didn't sell the house and move or did they wanna stay if feel close to your sister. What was the rationale. We actually looked at houses like brecksville and other areas. I think my dad he found her and i was so hard on him may found her and he always felt like he wanted to be there. There's some kind of resolution would be solved if they needed something from house and he stayed there he died in two thousand twelve so he was there two thousand eight. He wanted to nursing home in two thousand eight but he stayed there the whole time. My parents were divorced. Oldest son was born and they got divorced at. They were all we. My father pick up my maternal grandparents and then they go to breakfast. Pick up my mom who had condominium there and then they come to my house every sunday unless it was snowy air whatever that was for many years and my mom took care of him before he went into the nursing home fixing him foods and stuff and they were very cordial from honor. Stand when parents lose a child they will eventually lead to the end of a marriage almost always it. Sounds like that may have happened to your parents might have would always talk about the murder strangers and lee and my mom. We kept it all inside and had lifelong friends. Who never knew about beverly. I think my mom might talk to some of her closest friends. But basically my mom and i could not talk about her december twenty eighth and her birthday october. I was always sacred. We get together even if we didn't talk about her. We were together. James adele wrote a book about beverly puck who disappeared and older sister. Said she could never talk about the loss of her. Detective carl jackie retired from the garfield heights police department. He also investigated the beverly jaros case during his career. Can you tell me how you got involved in this case. Yeah well this is. What happened when i got hired on the police department. I got hired and ninety and grew up in garfield light so i knew about the case. I mean what you heard it growing up and a lot of it was urban legend and some of it was fact but i got hired on the police department. The one detective told me. "I couldn't go from the time that she died bill. I have huge memory gap. I don't remember much of what happened through. Those beers started living again. When i went away to college. And the purposely chose a college out of state where. I thought i would be anonymous. I didn't want anyone to think of me as the murder girls to stir. Remember stay at college. There was a reception for freshman students. I to an all girl catholic college seton hill and western from pennsylvania and there was a nun goose bragging. She studied all our pictures and memorized our names even before meeting us. I couldn't believe what she looked at me. And she said you are. Beverly cherif action. I'm not anonymous. After a home to all the years never talked much about beverly and just kept it all inside. It was so painful to even talk about it. And i've had lifelong friends who didn't know up ever lease murder until i published. Her book of poetry appeared on local. Tv stations talking about the case. It seems matters that i hadn't even considered i. I never thought about the fact that your mom and dad will become so overprotective and they would restrict your freedom because they didn't want to lose their only living child. Which was you that definitely had been tough on your life because you missed out on some experiences that you would have gotten to have had your sister not being killed. I also think like. I'm a mother of four children. How would i have reacted. I probably would've reacted in the same way. I don't know i tried to give my own kids not a free range. Life is always like tried to know where they were and what they were doing and everything but tied to the them on normal. Life didn't want to restrict their freedom such a way my mom. I was restricted. Assuming you told your children about your sister. Did this change. The way they saw the world did they worry more about the evils of the world. Were they able to maintain the same type of freedom. You had before your sister's passing. I did not about beverly. I had pictures of her round the house but they were already grown by the time..

"Wasn't anything unusual about the day. Beverly and carol watched their parents leave and go to work. The sisters had plans to walk to their grandmother's house and have lunch with her around one pm. Beverly told her grandmother. She needed to return and meet up with her friends. Barbara and margie. An eighteen year old neighbor of beverly's grandmother gave beverley a ride home after beverly arrived home. She gave her mother call to let her know she had made it home safely. Beverley also received a call from a man asking about her father. The caller identified himself as stephen. Stanko it's said he would call back. Police later learned stephen stanko. It's was a fictitious name. Beverly's grandmother also called to talk to beverly. Their conversation was brief is rarely had to get ready for. Barbara's visit barbara arrived at one. Twenty five pm after knocking on the door. She then heard a thump coming from upstairs. It was like someone was moving furniture after. No one responded. Barbara returned home. She spoke to her friend. Margie and told her beverly never answered the door. The three girls originally planned on spending the day together. Margie called beverly's grandmother and told her beverly didn't answer the door when barbara knocked. The grandmother called beverly's dad ted gyros and shared concern. Ted left work to check on his daughter. He arrived home the loud music playing. He went upstairs to check on his daughter. Someone had murdered. Beverly the coroner ruled strangulation as the cause of death per killer also stabbed her numerous times. The garfield heights police have never captured. Beverly's killer nearly six decades past. Since beverly was murdered in her garfield heights. Ohio home today. The case remains cold. Beverly's death was a crushing blow to the family. Carroll has never recovered from losing her sister and fortunately carol and beverly's parents would divorce carol is now the only surviving member of her immediate family. She waited all these years for someone to help her find out who killed her sister for this episode. I spoke to carol bartos and retired. Detective carl becky about the unsolved murder of beverly garros my earliest memory of beverly. Probably when we were like bevin and eleven or ticks and pan am every night. She'd make up bedtime stories. Telling me as beverley was four years older than me. We were deli- at different levels of maturity. Beverly died when she was sixteen and i was still like a little girl or twelve playing outside with my friends and being so connected to what was happening in beverly.

"Lives a bedroom shared with her sister carol just twelve years old at the time. It's the first thing i ever think of. Even now when i wake up and it's the last thing i think of before i go to bed. Their mother died on valentine's day this year. Never having the answers she so desperately wanted killed. Beverly jerris well. I just think that she met the wrong person at the wrong time then. This person was obsessed with her for him. I shall never cease to pray days by with their cell. And i'll patiently await his return until sunset and death. Police believe beverly knew her killer. The murder weapon a knife never found the rope used to strangle her bounce so tightly at its snap. The radio is blasting reallowed. I believe that was used. Just the muffler screaming for the last sixteen years detective called. Becky has worked the case over nine hundred files on this case statements that have been taken to yours limited people of interest. They've aimed people of interest and yet this is like putting one of those thousand piece puzzles together. And then you find out. The last piece is khaki believes new. Dna technology can help them find that missing piece narrowing their search down to two main suspects. Men he says who still live in the area. They should be looking over their shoulder. Put it that way. They should be careful what they're doing because sooner or later is going to have. They have daughters of their own. And how like. How do they look at their daughters and think about what they did to beverley. I don't understand it. Somebody's out there living their life when they should be locked up answering for for beverly so that bothers me a lot and it does get personal. I guess it does and just like to see an end of it. You know nobody deserves this by sorrows. I shall never tell sweet sleep. Come gently with stealth. All i have known farewell. I have a rendezvous but steph even at age sixteen. Beverly was a literary soul constantly quoting shakespeare writing poetry in her diary her beautifully. Handwritten words published into a book of poems by her sister. Carol five decades after beverly's murderer nearly every page and every holon mentioned death and dying. It seems like it could be a premonition. What if i should die within the next year. "A sleek well designed and optimize trimmer. That makes shaving. Time your favorite time in the bathroom. i'm going to go with my second favorite time. Ooh what's your i. I just got a day over this last year. And it is life changing my god. I'm jealous now but this'll be number to date. Now you get to manscaping. It's a whole journey. What do you like about the lawnmower for brian. O'brien is the best part is that it's engineered so that the ceramic bleeds are actually contoured so that they're not cutting you. That's the main thing for me. Is that nice a regular razor an electric razor on any of those metal blades. They're going to nick. And that is not a cute love. Nobody wants to see that with a ceramic played. It's designed with your safety. In mind this is also upgraded with a four thousand k. led spotlight. It is customized with trim additional guard links with sizes one through four. And did i mention. It's also wireless charging future. I know the future is in wireless. The new wireless charging system uses electric magnetic induction. Which can help battery lengths last longer. There's you know electric magnetic fields and even when it comes this shaving there's a magnetic induction for basically on mars as it is now but that does sound sexual doesn't it does and speaking of sexual if you really think about it if you've been shaving using the same trimmer on your face and your balls. Unlock your confidence and always use the right tools for the job with manscaping guys all right guys before we go into the episode before we go into the banter and the tour we gotta learn a little bit about the beverly hills history and please feel free to time. Jump to fifteen minutes and three seconds. If you want to go directly into the episode but before we touch on our beverly kills tour we must learn a little bit more about the beverly hills history because you know we like to mix a little history and crime and ghosts so we gathered some information based on the history of beverly hills from the beverly hills historical society website of beverly hills historical society dot org and so according to the beverly hills historical society it all started with maria rita in the years. Eighteen fifty two. Maria survives a a siege and shootout with native americans who attacked her rancho and this may have influenced her to sell her land two years later to henry. Hancock and benjamin wilson unfortunately for the new owners the water straight up in the area a few years later and followed by a long drought that left their livestock to die. Hancock in wilson are remembered today for the upscale hancock park neighborhood and local geographic landmark of mount wilson by eighteen sixty eight. The land was owned by edward. Bruce or press who sought to establish a community for immigrant german farmers to be called something muttiah in the meantime he turned the ranch into lima. Bean fields selling his crop to cover taxes in santa. Maria was never to be yet after another. Drought plotted bruce's streams early in the eighteen eighties. Henry hammel and charles dunker acquired the land with the intention of creating morocco a subdivision with north african theme. The us economic collapse of eighteen eighty eight put a quick end to that scheme in the year. Nineteen hundred the fortunes of the former rancher began to improve a group of oil speculating. Investors led by burton e. Green bought the bean field on behalf of the amalgamated oil company. Green drilled a series of wells that failed to strike oil however they did strike a lot of water enough to support a town in one thousand nine hundred six green and his partners reorganized as the rodeo land and water company inspired by beverly farms massachusetts green and his wife renamed the bean field beverly hills in one thousand nine hundred seven landscape architect. Wilbur d cook was hired to design a street plan for beverly hills. Cook laid out curving streets with larger lots on the north side smaller. Lots on the south side and triangular commercial district between them. All the streets were tree-lined and land was set. Aside for public parks for elementary schools and a high school vision was to make the area affordable to a range of incomes. as long as the buyers weren't black or jewish these shameful restrictive covenants would eventually fall in the nineteen forties. Thanks to a lawsuit brought by hattie. Mcdaniel ethel waters and other notable african americans. The first house was completed in one thousand nine hundred seven but sales were very slow. And by nineteen twelve to bolster the interest of potential buyers green completed construction of the beverly hills hotel on the site where the waters once gathered. The luxurious establishment served not only travelers but the locals as a defacto city hall community center movie theater and religious worship than you. The hotel was reached by the specially constructed. Dinky railroad a wondrous attraction in itself by nineteen fourteen. The local population was large enough to support the incorporation of beverly hills city but real growth didn't take off until the errors most glamorous hollywood couple mary. Pickford and douglas fairbanks bought a small lot on summit drive and dubbed their home. Pickfair put a pin on this. Because we definitely touch on pickfair in the tour. Following their fashionable lead was a host of film industry stars directors and producers who began the celebrity mystique that remains a constant of beverly hills to this day would also brought fame to the young city was the addition in nineteen nineteen the los angeles speedway the site of auto races. Second in importance only to the course covering most of the southwest quadrant of the city barely made it through half of the roaring twenties. Among the notable structures built on the land formerly traversed by race cars was the beverly wilshire hotel in nineteen twenty eight the same year edward l. dini completed greystone mansion a fifty five room mansion and estate which was a wedding gift for his son which is now owned by the city and operated as a museum park and event venue. Also put another pen on this location because we will definitely be stopping here towards the end of our tour because there is a story of true crime and ghosts attached to this mansion with growth. Came the return of a problem that haunted the nineteenth century rancho a potential shortage of water. And this even hans us to this very day in nineteen twenty-three an effort to secure a steady water supply through annexation by the city of los angeles was defeated by the voters. Thanks to opposition led by mary. Pickford who feared the loss of local identity. Celebrities continued to be important to civic life. Most notably the nationally cherished humorist and honorary mayor of beverly hills will rogers in his memory. The park across sunset boulevard from the beverly hills hotel was renamed after his death..

"Of individualism and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps. What do you guys think. I think that this idea of being self made is is one of those things that we present to people. But it's a fantasy world it's amid. That's not how it actually works. I had a friend Her name is liz and she used to always say what her biggest regrets was that she was not born to rich parents and is always funny when she says it but i mean the her statement makes sense. We actually have zero choice and the situation that we are born into and the a lot of the foundations and our life a lot of the the. The trajectory of our life starts at ages that we don't really have the we don't have the ability to really make that many decisions yet but it's really the adults in our lives. That are making the decisions for us. But you have to understand that everyone does not start at the same starting line and we're talking about Being successful we have to really you know. Be mindful that everyone is not you. I think if we start there we can be a lot more empathetic about people's situations and that doesn't diminish your experience it doesn't diminish your experience to say that you had some help along the way or some luck that's a good point like both can be true you can both work really hard and also have a really good support system is another good example of this is a lot of the systems that we have in america. They require you to kinda have that support system. Good example of

I would actually love to hear a little bit about your career path and how you came to writing about dress and fashion and also about global consumer history. That's sorta to step answers that i'll give you so. I guess i should confess. My academic trajectory was rather unorthodox I did one year of university. And then i quit. Pet Resorts, Dog Walking Services Bounce Back From COVID-19 Slowdown

"About pet sitters pet sitters are in high to man. These days as people are traveling more and that is just one example of the way the service economy is bouncing back as people start to emerge from their pandemic lockdowns. Tsa checkpoints screening five or six times as many people as they were a year ago. And of course that means more business for airlines for rental cars for hotels and pet sitters. Yeah i thought about that myself recently. When i went home to colorado's you my ninety two year old dad for the first time in over a year ribs anneli stayed behind in washington where i have a very good pet sitter but a gummy thinking about another pet sitter. I know beverly pickering. Beverly lives in hazel park michigan. Just outside of detroit. She has gone from having practically no customers during the pandemic to suddenly having more work than she knows what to do with. I don't know any pet sitter. That isn't overwhelmed right now and smiling about it. It's so exciting to be working again. We confirm that with the national association of professional pet sitters that snaps for short they say businesses looking up after a long dry spell

LAPD Investigates Alleged Anti-Semitic Hate Crimes In Beverly Hills

"Investigating what it believed to be a hate crime that happened in a Beverly Hills restaurant. About eight Palestinian protesters jumped out of a caravan of cars waving Palestinian flags Tuesday night, witnesses say some of them asked. The diners were Jewish. When two men said Yes. They were then attacked and beaten by this group of men. We reached out to Los Angeles police on the possibility of more arrest. We're waiting for a response that we do know. Investigators believe the suspects in this case are connected to the attack of an Orthodox Jewish man Monday night near West Hollywood. That man says he thought He was going to be killed when the caravan tried to run him down boxes. Christina Coleman. "Kirby gear nails young girl. Check these out. Wow others flowers on there. Are those present want. Yeah they're daisies. Those are amazing. Who makes them there from color camp owing love love. yeah so color. Camp is a nail salon based here in la. And it's on. Beverly obviously they were closed for a majority of the pandemic and they kind of pivoted their business. Now they have this lake booming. Press on glue on business. They're not cheap. They're like fifty bucks or so depending on what you get if you get nail art and stuff. But i'd ordered a pair from them. Before and i thought it was a really cool concept like they send you these little clear acrylic process to try and you measure them to all your nails and then you go online and you like okay. My thumb is an eight. My index finger is a seven. And you do it individually for each hand so like one of my thumbs. The nail bed is smaller than the other thumb. So it's like okay. Cool great and then i'm an idiot and i measured them to small and i wrote them and told them like hey like i'm actually in pain wearing these thales. What to do. And they're just they were really. Oh we're going up your sizes and send you a new pack. So they did and then they threw in like an extra one. There was like wait. This is great customer service. So then i ordered again and they're reusable glue on so if one popular like file your nail and glue it back on in your good can hear that and some of it all. But they're super. Long the i was gonna say unless you're like cardi b. kylie jenner and have an assistant. How are you using your dawn power. Wash washing dishes with those nails

Woman Says TikTok Used Her Voice Without Permission for Viral Text-to-Speech Feature

"Story has now broke about another voice actor whose work was allegedly taken by a major platform without her permission. Now i i want to reiterate something that is shared in the story earlier this week. So susan bennett. The voice of the original siri did not know that she was recording components. Vocal sounds that would be used by apple. Let alone for a brand new technology. They'd be putting all of their devices. She was just doing another job for the studio she'd long worked with. She thought it was a kind of advanced text to speech project for random company. She didn't know she had become the voice of siri until siri was public. And friends started recognizing her voice. Now while i don't have complete evidence for it. It seems based on brad jones reporting that the same thing happened with the voice actor behind alexa. Who was also working with. A larger agency used by amazon for the product. Now while bennett reviewed all the contracts that she signed in determined she was allowed to go public when she decided she was ready. I have my suspicions than amazon's contracts for the woman behind the alexa voice are a bit more restrictive. Either that or the woman doesn't want to be public which is totally legit. I am also making an assumption here that somewhere in the paperwork signed by those two and by other actors whose voices have gone to newer and international versions of virtual assistance there was language about eventual usage. And they're waving of rights to their work but that may not be the case with the latest voice actor to come forward ontario based beverly standing has discovered that her voice is being used to say anything and everything on one of the most widely used newer features on tiktok. The feature is a basic text to speech one. And if you've seen any tiktok over the past few months you've probably encountered it. It's a sort of robotic sounding woman's voice that reads aloud the text someone puts on their tiktok. Its ubiquity has become a bit of a meme in and of itself and personally. I have a theory that one reason. It's so popular apart from the accessibility that it engenders is that it enables people to have a voice reciting their tiktok without them having to say anything

"Get out those magnifying glasses. Honey because we're about to zoom in real post gene and been. They were spotted driving to the airport in montana after a week. Long vacation. sources originally insisted they were spending time together as friends but now we can confirm because we are e and we know everybody. It's more than that now. In this photo you can see in the driver's seat and j.lo's looking a little serious probably because he's a bad driver and in another photo it almost looks like they were holding hands and getting on that ej. I saw these photos. And you got your your investigative dissect these what did you think. Okay so i said this yesterday. And i'm gonna stick by this. I think that when celebrities do not want to be seen they go on scene when you have two people of this starpower jennifer lopez and ben affleck if they wanted to keep this more private have especially with the. Pj you land under the cloak of knights three thirty in the morning when nobody is at that airport. You control the private plane. That's the whole point flying. You writing a driver. Seven hours is but you know this was very much like gabe that where they stayed at his home in yellow but the yellowstone club. I looked this up. There's only eight hundred and sixty four members of the club so it's not like they went like you said yesterday to the beverly hills hotel. It's a small place it's very private. it's very exclusive. So now we know why there were no photos of them while they were staying on his way. But i think to kind of just jump in your suv in the middle of the day under sunlight and get snapped

Inside One of Hollywood's Most Audacious Ponzi Schemes

"Beverly would man has been arrested by the fbi for allegedly running two hundred and fifty million dollar ponzi scheme. Investigators say zachary horwitz. Who uses the screen. Name of zach. Avery told investors he'd used their money to acquire licensing rights to films that. Hbo and netflix had agreed to distribute abroad instead. Investigators say horwitz use the money to pay other investors and by a six million dollar house. In beverly would. Horwitz has been charged with wire fraud. If convicted he could get up to twenty years in prison. This one is relatively current. Definitely showed up on many timelines on my internet because it involved an actor and a ponzi scheme. Oh and i've been watching a lot of generation hustle on hbo denver. Hasn't i haven't the con- on hulu. Okay of course listening to or favorite podcasts. Or one of my favorite. And i think we both like swindled. Sure your little white collar crime mo for for the most part and this is how an actor a relatively unknown actor which is makes a story exciting scammed a lot of people for a lot of money and the examples he used are baffling to me. That's what makes it so interesting. And i'm going to get to that part baby. So zach horowitz who you may or may not know as zach. Avery and you've seen a lot of. I'm be pages. You've met a lot of actors you've seen. He's a very typical of what you'd say. A early thirties actor with dark hair got looks like sometimes with the beard sometimes not

"The family was worried that perhaps it was some abnormality that caused becky's death and they were not going to take any chances with their only surviving child right. Did they know they were taking her to the place that you know harmed her while she was in beverly scare and at this point beverly was the main nurse on the ward. Katie's heart stopped and the resuscitation team was summoned yet again. They were able to save her but unfortunately two days later she suffered another attack which resulted in the collapse of her lungs. Katie was then transferred to another hospital where they found that five of her ribs were broken. Did she survive hanging when they don't know why her is broken but attributed to possibly revival attempts. But there's really no way to know. In addition to that she suffered serious brain damage as a result of the oxygen deprivation. The doctors also concluded that katy had large doses of insulin and potassium in her system while she was lucky to be alive. Megan she now had severe medical issues. Such as partial paralysis cerebral palsy and sight and hearing damage. God you want to hear the sickest part of this sue phillips the mother of katie and becky had asked beverley allitt to be katie's godmother because she was so grateful beverly for saving her child's life. Beverly was a master manipulator. She made everyone think that she was part of being a victim. Here and little did this. Poor mother know that alex was actually responsible for causing the death of their one daughter and the irreversible harm of their other. That's terrible over the next two weeks. The incidences of trauma continued. Luckily however there were no more deaths but similar to katie's fate there were plenty of situations where children suffered severe complications. There were seven year old matthew davidson. Who arrived at the hospital. After a non severe wound injury. He suffered a heart attack but survived. Then there was nine month old. Christopher king an eight month old christopher christopher-peres good who were also injured by beverly while under her care next was one of her youngest victims a seven week old baby patrick l. stone who was for a minor ear infection when he was found unconscious once again after being in beverly scare in this case. Another nurse on duty reported that the alarm that alerts everyone when someone stops breathing had been turned off remember. This happened in an earlier case so now nurses saying this seems weird but again. No one really suspected anything. Suspicion slowly start to grow around this time but doctors and nurses suspected that it was perhaps an outsider who was harming the children they could not have comprehended the idea. That one of their own was inflicting harm on these patients. And keep leaving. They had not contacted authorities to this point. I've actually seen that happen with other healthcare situations hospitals are usually afraid to contact authorities. There are also the they worry about their negligence issues. Things like that and their own liability. Yep but i think because they didn't sound the alarm earlier you know. Some of these terms could have been prevented app anyway. Finally in april nineteen ninety-one beverly's killing spree would come to an end after a fifteen month. Old girl claire. Pack was admitted to the hospital..

"Okay so this. All starts on february twenty first nineteen ninety-one when liam taylor was admitted to ward for where beverly worked with chest infection. I read a few reports that said liam was only seven weeks. Old ally out of her way to reassure his parents that he was in capable hands with her and she told them young. Go home get some rest. So obviously the parents were by his side and she was so loving that they really trusted her so they went home to get some rest when they returned alad advise them that liam had endured a respiratory emergency but he had recovered from and this was very confusing because it seems like to know where things took a turn for the worst. But you don't know one suspected anything alad even ended up volunteering for an extra night shift so that she can watch over the boy. The parents at this point chose to spend the night at the hospital as well and to the shock of everyone liam had another respiratory crisis just before midnight but yet again he had recovered. Allitt was left alone once again with the boy and his condition worsened dramatically. He became deathly pale. with red. blotch is appearing on his face at which point elliott summoned an emergency resuscitation team. So in england they call it the emergency resuscitation team. It would be our code blue. Got someone's in respiratory distress at the time alex nursing colleagues were confused by the absence of alarm monitors which had failed to sound when he stopped breathing. So normally there'd be alarms and for some reason they didn't go off and this seemed concerning but it was kind of forgotten about since they were really focused on this little boy. No one really anything of it. Despite the best efforts of the resuscitation team liam suffered severe brain damage and remains alive only due to the use of life support machines at this point. His parents made the agonizing decision to remove their baby from life support being that they were told his condition would not improve. He died on february twenty-second and his cause of death was recorded as heart failure. As a result of an undiagnosed heart condition. Everyone on the word was in mourning and really dumbfounded as to what could have happened to this little boy and it was never questioned about her actions leading up to his death. There was really no reason to question her. Just two weeks later. Timothy hardwick an eleven year old boy with cerebral palsy was admitted to work for the hospital. Due to an epileptic fit due to his condition he was not to be alone at all. So beverley allitt stayed with him and was put in charge of his care once again after being left alone with the boy she summoned the emergency team who found him without a pulse and turning blue. Unfortunately the team was unable to revive him. An autopsy was performed but there were no red flags and his cause of death was determined to be a complication of his existing condition. Everyone once again confused upset. How could another child be lost so soon but nobody thought anything. Nefarious was going on all tragedy. It's a small child but the children are in the hospital for a condition. So there's that alley. In fact beverly was even consoled because two of her patients had passed away so she was the victim in a way because she was so close to these patients. You see what this is setting up for less than a month. After timothy hardwick death one year old kaely desmond was admitted to the hospital because of a chest infection which. She seemed to be recovering. Well from however five days later with aladin charger for care kaley went into an unexplainable cardiac arrest chillingly..

"Most people say she acted very strange in this relationship. She demanded that she become his girlfriend and when he gave her a ring she declined and said she didn't want to get married but then at another point she asked him to marry her a lot of strange things. She refused to hold his hand in public she. She reportedly would only sex him once a month. They had very violent fights in which stephen was the victim of domestic violence. She would need him in the groin. She also had a habit of lying. She made several claims that she had been raped and that stephen had aids. Oh wow she also claimed that even raped her but all of these things were never corroborated and likely ally when you at her previous behavior but her behaviors continued when she was suspected of smearing feces along the walls of a nursing home where she trained. That doesn't even make sense to me to be honest. Now i don't i don't i don't even see where that fits was any pattern but okay god so that's just an example of this kind of odd behavior. She was having her. Attendance was also very poor due to the amount of illnesses illnesses that she had and as a result of all of this. She ended up failing her nursing examinations. Well it's interesting because you said she dropped out of school so she must've gotten a ged then gone back and for nursing. Okay i get it. I'm putting it together. God despite beverly's history of poor attendance and odd behavior. She was hired on a temporary six month. Contract at the chronically understaffed grantham and cast of in hospital in lincolnshire in nineteen ninety and this is where beverly began to work as a nurse in the children's ward at the time there were only to train nurses on the day shift and one for the night so when she started. It was very much understaffed and it seems that. Even though she failed her nursing exams they may have been desperate. And that's why they were giving her like temporary contract. Okay people. She worked with started noticing. Strange things about her behaviour not long after she began working there while talking to other nurses. Beverly would often make strange statements at one time. She claimed that a poltergeist stuck a carving knife into a pillow that this poltergeists had set her bathroom curtains on fire and fed tablets to her. Landlady's dog none of this makes sense. Nor is it supposed to make because you're looking at me like what are you well. This sounds like delusional. So i'm not sure if she's now blurred the line between you know what i mean like exaggeration to delusion yup and while she worked at this hospital the police were called on two different occasions. One time to investigate a kitchen fire and another time. They were human feces found in the refrigerator. All my god. A few nurses express that they thought that beverly should have a psychiatric examination but they never said anything to her. I don't know if they were scared of her. They just felt like it wasn't their place but either way it was at this hospital that the tragic events at the center of today's episode took place. There are several victims in this case. And of course they all deserve to have their stories. Heard i'm going to discuss each. But i'm not going to spend too long on the specifics of each case because for the sake of time. I wanna make sure that we are able to talk about the arrest. The trial the aftermath of theory. So i might not so much time on victims as we normally would like to..

"So i can get money before the ice cream truck goes by but Yeah it was just an Right as we were getting a rice greece by daughter came home. And i thought oh you know this is about and it was like five o'clock. She's going to be upset. That i got on my screen right before supper and she just got out of the car and was laughing hysterically because she knew what had happened. She knew that truck came down. And i was going to give her kids ice cream. I didn't care if it was two minutes before they were going to get an ice cream and so she had. She had a really good attitude about that. When i think i think the end of the story is she says i think your daughter said something. The ice cream truck never comes down here and grandchildren says. That's because grandma's here grandma. Can you come every day. You know something to right right. And that's just a wonder if i wonder if children right little children who you know their association as mean grandma's magical you know. I think that's the beauty of the relationship because i you know i'm thinking back to even my own grandparents. When i was little there was something magical about them. I don't know what it was. I knew that they were older. I knew that you know that they didn't look like necessarily look like my mom and dad but every time i was with them it seemed like there was something magical about to happen. Yeah yeah i mean. I have so many memories of my grandparents in being woman seven. I didn't really spend any alone time with either one of them in any other group. But i remember one day I was just happened to be standing in the driveway. Getting ready to go on my grandfather just looked at me and he said are you happy and i thought i was probably seventeen eighteen. I found no one has ever asked me. No one in my life at ever asked me if i was happy and so i thought it was fantastic. That he would ask me. I thought it was fantastic question. I it. I thought i said yes i i really am. I really am a happy person. And and he was pleased with his answer. but know. That's the kind of thing that you get from a grandparent. Another time actually. Life is slower. "Yes, we have another great, fabulous, outstanding, amazing, awesome wonderful show. We have with US none other than Beverly Lazard, and she has written this outstanding. Sit, I'm serious. It's just an outstanding book. It's called. Are you emotionally ready to retire? And? We'll stay with me before you decide to stop. You just need to hear something for a second. This book if this book is not for old people, okay, this book is for young people all right this book. You need to be thinking about it i. don't Care What Age you are matter of fact. She's GonNa. Talk about there's actually story, but it's actually a quote from. who was getting ready to retire? Who said you know what you need to be thinking about this in your teens? And it's because being emotionally ready to retire isn't the same I didn't say financially. Yes, that is important. But what I am saying is. Are you emotionally ready to retire? because. It's more than just. It's more than just being financial ready. Some. Beverly's and talk about this she she's done the research. She has done so much research. That I'm just telling you love her. She's just GonNa an amazing demeanor, and she's just so kind and friendly, and she's awesome, and so we're GONNA. Talk to her about are you emotionally ready to retires? Can Great Show I promise you it will be? So much great information that you need to think about. The book of course is available everywhere, and so you need to check it out and it's a very. It's a fast read, but man it's it's A. It's a read that'll get you thinking. I promise, but before we get to hurt, let's do it. We do every week and you know what that is right. I ask you about how your training is going in the four areas of your life right because. You know we're living in weird times, and so we need to be training for areas of our life if we are going to be the best that we can be. You know we are physical, mental, emotional and spiritual people all right, and so when it comes to you being the best you could be. We have to be working on a training. Because as we all know, you're only as good as your training when you were tired when you are stressed when you're under pressure. When you aren't completely exhausted. The fact of the matter is you know what you're only as good as your training. Period. And so I like to ask the entire audience out there in the world. Because you know now, we're in over sixty countries around the world. I like to ask you, you know. Let's talk about your training on a scale of one to ten one being miserable ten being outstanding. Let's talk about your training in terms of. How you're doing physically, so one is when's miserable tens outstanding physically? What do I mean by your training? Physically when I mean is not only are you exercising? which is is important, and not only. Are you eating right, but are you getting enough sleep? Are you drinking enough? Are you, how is your? How are you doing on a daily basis making sure that your training in the right way? To to to really protect yourself. And to be. And it's a question that you have to answer for yourselves out there right, so you know skill went to ten. You know five being average, you know. How would you say your training is going out there right? And because the truth is a matter is is that you know you got to? You have to work on your training. So there's your first number. Second number. Second number. Is You know what how would you say? You are doing mentally in your training. And what do I mean by your mental training I mean is what are you consuming? That's helping you be better mentally whether it's professionally or personally. That's expanding your mind. That's helping you grow in your wisdom and your knowledge and your understanding of how things. Work. Right. You can't just sit there and let things be thrown at you. You have to be an active participant in your mental engagement in your mental training. Reading books. Are Such a huge part of your mental training. Especially books are actually benefiting you in some way I'm not against fictional books. Please don't hear me. I'm not against fictional books, but. Here's what I know I. Know that when you were doing things that are actively helping your psychology actively helping your profession actively helping you pursue a hobby actively helping you do something that's making you better. Those things are the thing. Those are the type of reading. Those are the type of things the activities that you're doing. That are challenging you mentally. Because we need to be mentally challenged again, you're only as good as your training, so if you're not pushing yourself mentally, there's no way that you're going to be able to be as good as you possibly can be. Right so the scale of one to ten when being miserable, ten, being outstanding, how you doing in your mental side? Your mental game. Right, so you get two numbers physical mental, and then we got the emotional side. And, this really has to deal with more relationships, but we oftentimes in psychology as a psychological professional. You know we tell our clients. You know things like you know. We evaluate people on their emotional quotient or their emotional intelligence and. Often we evaluate them in two areas one is how well are they able to control their own emotions and understand their own emotions? And then we evaluate how well! Someone is able to. Emotionally, tap into the emotions of others, however, they able to understand the emotions of other people. And we put those two things together, and that's kind of a rough way of gauging in emotional quotient or some emotional intelligence. And you know you can train that part of your of your. Life. Right? It's about being very intentional. You have to be very intentional about. You know controlling your emotions when that person cuts you off. Can you stop yourself before you decide to have some sort of finger gesture? Can Use stop the thought before it comes in. The same token, we can do things to expand our emotional vocabulary right because we're not just angry. Sad or happy, there's a whole. There's a whole number of variances between those. And the better vocabulary is the better we understand, and can tap into the emotions of others, and when we tap into the emotions of others. What we're really saying is. Are you able to really understand them and empathize with them right? Because that's that's ultimately what's really important so? How is your training going?.

So I would just encourage you guys as you go forward in this week. What you're meditating on what you're thinking upon knowing that God no matter what it is if it's a jealousy about habit energies, if it's that habit energy that's drawing you out of alignment. He can drawing back. He can transform it into a place of power. I have to be honest with you. It took me four days to just get through the first six verses of Psalm Nineteen. Because yes, I am that person that just cannot read one strip drug at a go back, and so and then I'm having this incredible, so if you haven't read all of online teen, go read it to our audience. Because the first six verses are all about him being our creator in as many of you have said is just the beauty and I have been so aware this week, of creation and I think what beverly said earlier. I'm really trying to take this time. To look at the things that God is giving me in place in the business that I had not sure I'm ever going to be able to go back to that dizziness bet. Everything from click beetles to double rainbows. Anyway moving through that I kind of skipped the second part, which was all about God's word? I, did spend time looking at the second part of the song, but when I got an..

"It was Beverly and besides singing and song writing Beverly is also an actor and a mom you're listening to the song that inspired the story right now yellow dress it will use this is not our next story is from a man in Detroit his question comes via telephone here's lead Thomas I'm standing in line at the grocery store and I'm there to get the essentials you know pop tarts olives for the paper I'm a dude and so I feel this guy staring at me intensely I can feel like he's burning a hole in the side of my head it's intense you know he's looking at me so hard it's like she smells something terrible he's just quick face looking at me and I can just feel it now usually that's a problem someone staring at you you give a mean face you know the face you use when you're walking down the street here in the city or any city you want to be left alone and given that mean face and they stop looking hopefully but this time I decided to do something different because the truth is is I'm not a mean dude kind of the kind of guy who cannot always has fun but as little as like the sing song kind of do a little dance studio just smile to make people smile in people would stare at me so I usually say it's because I'm devastatingly handsome I call myself the spotted Denzel Washington what's up girl but the truth is I have a disease called vitiligo it's two percent of the world's population has it is not life threatening it's not contagious but it does get you a lot of attention get you a lot of stairs so today instead of giving me face I decided to do something different I just let him stay here in men did the guys there I'm putting my stuff on the conveyor I'm checking out he's checking out on the other island he's looking and I'm let them look and I think he doesn't know that I'm let them look what he's looking he's lookin and we both check out at the same time we head towards the exit and he still look it in so we get to the door to leave and we actually make eye contact face to face and I just decide I got a break this and I look right at him and I say Hey buddy what's up and he won't hi and I think at that point he realized that he was a grown man staring at another grown man which you know is usually a problem so I wanted to break the ice a little bit and not make their tension and I I I said if it's a disease cover like a man it's it's not life threatening it's not contagious it is just kind of cosmetic and it just looks very different I I get a lot of attention and then the guy actually asked me a question the lancers question and we talk a little bit me ask me another question so I end up talking to the guy in the grocery store for like a good five minutes it it it was good in the end of our conversation he says to me if you don't have in Largo it's vitiligo but you know he was trying if you didn't have the Largo you look just like that guy on TV and I left it on my laptop I go high yeah yeah I get that all the time but you know I go to my car and I I just sit there and stare out the window because the truth is is in the city I live in Detroit I am that guy on TV I in the anchor of the morning show I am a reporter for a local station and I have been covering my vitiligo have been and still do cover my vitiligo with make up when I'm on TV and most people never even notice so for him I am that guy not wearing make up on TV is not a big deal this is New York you guys know this if you're on TV you got to cover blemishes you you gotta make it the sign go away make up is not a big deal on television but not only am I on television and entertainment reporter so I interview I'm gonna I'm gonna cosmetic job in a superficial industry and I interviewed the most beautiful people in the world right so I cover my face with make up because I don't want to lose my job I think if they know what I actually look like then it might kind of be over so I just do it everybody else on TV does cover it up and keep it moving and that goes pretty well I cover everything except my hands the vitiligo the pigment disorder you just lose your color for African Americans it's very drastic you look like you have some white spots all over your body but the hands completely go away no I tried to cover my hands with make up and it's brown make up follow me here you have brown make up on and you touch any part of your body during the day you're going to have a brown spot you shake somebody's hand they're going to walk away with brown on their hand you know like I do this is my mom's fault I'd rather people think that I have a disease then thirty because my mom you know this is hard my mom would always say we may not have a lot but at least we're clean down to the underwear thanks mama the so a cover with makeup it worked have a good career many years one day this lady calls me she says her son has vitiligo people with vitiligo noticed the hands in the call or write a letter and reach out that's cool she said her son wanted to talk to me and I said okay having call me after the newscast tomorrow and he did the fourteen year old kid he said that like go for a while he had straight days the kid was in the karate he seemed like he had his head on straight and I talked to the kid for like twenty or thirty minutes and we go back and forth with vitiligo stories and we talk about how to deal with the stairs and all kinds of war stories it was a good conversation and then he says Mister Thomas I have to ask you a question anytime someone announces a question you know it's something so I go okay he goes would you show your face on TV without make up on and I was like hero okay you because my boss had been asking me to do that for like two or three years in the news director and I wasn't gonna do it I was telling her let me think about it because you can't tell your boss no this is nothing you can do so I tell you let me think about it because I know I would just end up seeing watch the black man turning white tonight at five did they get that done a promo that's going to run for ever thanks to ready for that so this kid asking me the same question was different than my boss so I said to him why and he says if you show people what you look like maybe they'll treat me differently wow the kid blew my blinders off you know those blinders that.

"This con is once a Beverly harbor from the independent women's forum in this morning for merry Walter Beverly good morning glad to have you back thanks for having me is diminishing get in trouble yes he dared to say that gratitude bird should go to college he he says to the chief economist or who is she I'm can use after she goes in studies economics in college you can come back and explain that to us he said that was he said that in Davos where of course everybody you know then got the vapors and promptly lost their minds you were tacked St Kereta what is your take on talking about kids and what constitutes at constitutes an attack is this an attack in your mind should he have said it is it okay where are you on this fence I'm my only objection to his remark is that somehow the higher education system is going to confer knowledge of value on credit Tim Burke correct that's my only objection to this I I think that that that the only criticism that really is merited of somebody as young as as she is involved in a political debate is she doesn't know anything the passage of time itself dictates that she's too young to be even be involved in the debate and yeah and my perspective on this is by the way she seventeen so when she's eighteen I guess we can then say whatever we want as we would to any other at adult but here's here's the problem that I have is I am firmly in favor of not going after a president's child while he's in the White House or even after that chose just doing their thing they're not an activist but when somebody put themselves out as an activist becomes person of the year for time magazine they have to have some push back on what they're talking about like don't criticize unnecessarily as a person but you can criticize their opinions because they're an activist yeah I mean she's a public figure yeah you know you can put your punch is a little bit she's a kid be careful or whatever but she's a public figure and deserving of scrutiny especially if the whole plan is to dictate the way that you're going to conduct your life and the way that your government's gonna operate in the way that they're going to spend your money and the way that the global community is going to dictate potentially to other sovereign nations the way they have to conduct their lives and spend that money and by the way eight minutes and was asked about her he didn't just offer it up it was he was asked by reporters but I did find one of the fascinating things about this story Twitter Twitter was entertaining me yesterday our our frontier Frank Chris Cuomo over at CNN decided to wait in on the conversation and he said why do these transfers think it is okay to go at a cat and of course he was attacked on Twitter for the very obvious hypocrisy considering last year at this time right around the March for life Nick Sandman was viciously attacked in the media even though they're reporting was incorrect and by the way they just settled a lawsuit with him just a few weeks ago yeah good for for defamation an exam and was not a public figure no next time I was a kid standing with America had on at the Lincoln Memorial that's the sum total of Nixon men's activities he wasn't given a lecture to anybody he said nothing he stood there with his mouth shot he was seen not heard Greta timber can take a page out of Nick Sandman's book but instead she's lecturing us and by the way that's a product of the adults in her life correct who are using her in this way but as you point out what Chris Cuomo is like whole areas the hypocrisy of that statement how dare you attack children aha your network to settle a lawsuit for defaming a kid who had no interest in being part of the public conversation other than being a part of being one of the many many thousands of people who had marched in the March for life that's the way that he was trying to have a contribution to the conversation and it's really it's well within his rights to do that but he wasn't lecturing us it is saving you still there the master the only the only thing that maybe we look back on it is maybe not needed to have a a smile that didn't look like a smirk that was his one crime is that when somebody's yelling at you it's hard to just stand there and sometimes your smile gets a little bit awkward it's understandable he just we all get parent we have to work on smiles because somebody could take it out of context that's right in fact in in George Orwell's nineteen eighty four that's called face crime thanks have a word for it it's face friend if you commit a crime with your face that's when you get disappeared your raced from history Nick Sam and made sure that he was not a race from history he fought back we're in for now six forty two I.

"From the wearing school in Beverly who are heading to the very first lego league World Championship this spring coach I just wonder what your thoughts are but the team doing as well as I did over the weekend well I'm I'm super proud of them we've been meeting together since even before the season technically started in fact we never stopped meeting from last year so I probably spend more time with this group of students than any group of students I've ever worked with we've spent literally well over the course of the last three years by thousands of hours together working towards this goal of all getting to the championships together so it's really pretty moving for me actually we'll know what legos are and a lot of kids who put legos together but this is a lot more than just that can you talk about some of the things that the students are learning well they have to learn actually to make this robot drive well you can just make it move but to actually make it drive well you have to use really pretty advanced techniques so these kids have been learning to program with the race has been learning loops which loops they learn sensor feedback this robot is continuously navigating around the board using sensor cues like the gyroscope the light meters in our team actually one of the reasons that I think we were able to win on on Saturday was because we've come up with some pretty innovative approaches for example using multiple sensors to integrate into one way of the robot knowing where it is and and allowing each sensor to correct the other sensors the facts and that kind of programming will stand these kids in grades that I mean they're doing it for fun now but I think later in life they could be doing this I mean this is the beginning of something for them it's not it's not just a team it's something it's a whole way of approaching life technology as we know is super important and we're really getting them ready for careers in engineering if that's what they want they must be pretty good at it they're very good at it the lego World Championship is huge nearly forty thousand teams from a hundred countries participated but only the very best are going to the finals and after winning the eastern Massachusetts competition this past weekend the wearing team is headed to Detroit in April for the World Championship well Santa will probably be delivering a lot of nerf guns this Christmas it's the most popular toy in the nation an online review website mapped out the favorites for each state based on Google searches nerf gun was a winner in eleven states including Arkansas Colorado New Mexico and Wyoming the second place story is more high tech five states chose the Nintendo switch and for opted for Plato dolls are also quite popular in nine states with only New York going with a classic lego playset mark may field reporting seven oh wait time for a check on wallstreet with Bloomberg a lot of us are looking at the calendar and starting to panic only a week till Christmas that late start to the holiday shopping season could mean super Saturday the Saturday before Christmas this Saturday will be the biggest shopping day of the year Reuter says customer growth partners estimates will spend about three billion dollars more on Saturday that we did on Black Friday it was one of those marching in place stays on Wall Street none of the average is moved very far from their starting point by the time the closing bell rang only the nasdaq posted a gain of four points that set a new closing high for the average the Dow fell twenty eight the S. and P. one I'm John Doniger Bloomberg business on WBZ Boston's news radio sports traffic and weather just ahead it's.
