So, you know, I have confidence in myself, team has confidence in me, players got confidence in me. So just keep getting better. "And was beaten only narrowly by chin that last time, but I feel there could be more to come from jeju still. Who's relatively lightly raced for a full year old. He's clearly had his share of problems, I think, since joining the story has been with the Christopher's old town, hasn't but they've had the campaign in France, didn't we? Yeah. In 2020. And he only made it to a track one last year when he was third to the kuski. We then didn't see him again. Until July of this year when he was campaigned in France and he beat burger Rita by three parts of the land that player fonts in some good bits of place into the ice from the Christopher that they saw. So just seems to me now is stringing back to back races together for the first time in ages. And that's got to be a good thing, hasn't it? It's only got 5 pounds to find with the favorite on official ratings and he's only got 7 runs under his belt, so I don't see why that gap couldn't be bridged. But he's just doesn't win that often. Does AI play my epson a few starts ago when I thought he was a, but I wouldn't say he was a good thing, but I was really keen on him so many just disappointed a little bit was third to make gallon Iran perfectly well when beating the head by chindit last time, but he hasn't got masses in hand of me. And at the prices, I think I'd rather be with that horse with William Buick in the saddle and put him back to back races together for the first time in a while. I wouldn't trust the favorite as far as I could throw him. Cue him winning with 5 links now. I was intrigued by find the sound. I thought that was a nice run at York. He's obviously won at before that. He was a big old price and I liked him a lot. Nice piece of work from Simon and Christopher, by the way, as well. A 125,000 pound race, 5 runners and they've got two of them. They're walking away with a feral chunk of chunk of change for their owners here. And for themselves as well for that matter, but find a sound intrigues me and at 7 to one with kluki may very well be able to run a big rose, but I wouldn't want to go too hard against you because I think you made a very strong case for you to me. The three 15 new market is the only race that we will be handling from the track. It's a list of race. We get 11 runners and here's some Christopher again with danae four to one currently with kaluki who go the same price about Ed walker and safi Osborne, who was a winner of the racing league tonight, Thursdays were recording. Four to one, summer gand. How lovable is some regard? And a hero, York racecourse last week, 5s to back up his victory at the yorky bor festival management is a 6 to one shot. Take it away, my friend three 15 at new market are only raced to discuss their hootie like. Yeah, pure dream has been on an absolute rule winning. I think is it four out of 5 starts. This season absolutely nothing wrong with his form and you mentioned some of these just an old warrior, isn't he? He just turns up, finally got his head in front, this season. Last week at Yorker man a camp manager, man, it can. It's the one I like. The one I like in here, we're seeing a bit of a theme developing here out with that. I'm keen on these three year olds taking on their elders this week. And I think he's just been a really progressive sprint handicapper. I thought that was a really good run at Chester two back when the tongue tie went on for the first time. He then built on that ascot in the shergar cup, beating judicial judicial, was a one time group performer himself, he's ten years old is in the twilight of his career and I'll be still capable of running a good race and there's not a lot between the main protagonists in here on official ratings. And again, I'm siding with a horse who's best days look ahead of him rather than behind him. Change couple homes to having a great season suffer from BJ Stevenson leading the way for the horse that intrigued me most is a worse that I was watching in real time while presenting for talk sport and the York ybor festival coverage I did the Wednesday Thursday and the Friday. And palos traveled. Very powerfully. Throw that race first run after a window up. And first one since April as well. I thought she just blew up. And it's interesting the change up line is turning her out only 9 days later. And I do quite like the second run after a window of angle as well. So below says 16s with Danny mescal on board with kaluki and I take the 16th, but I very much respect your pick. It's 16 to one below this is too big. And John and Jess stands, yes, I did consider some maximum first time cheek pieces, best to look to you, James Horton has been in terrific form. 100% runners to form records. On the racing post. So hopefully the words can run a massive race. Shall we talk American racing as soon as you write about it for better? And absolutely crush it. Ten O 5 Sara tilga. As we head to New York. Oh look, it's Chad Brown. Nothing's been going on in Chad brown's were oh wait. The one mile four furlong resorts world casinos. We're dancer. Grade one is worth 305,000 and broome wins it, doesn't he? He's going to take it off a lot of beating, isn't he? The American mile and a half to his division. These horses are very much of a much the likes of tribute due. Channel maker, you know, they knock about in these races and they all win in their turn. There's no outstanding candidate. The one going forward is probably a Dahmer for the M battled Chad Brown. At the moment who's being in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. So I think broom sorry. It was just going to say for those who are going,

"Quite a bit on the final photo on. But preaches a big price at 15 to two. Considering what she's achieved. And her form ties in with the zoo as well. A new market. And Leslie went on to win at ascot. After that race, which you and I talked about, and briege was third that day. And I thought that was a really, I thought it was a taking Ron. Kinter was a bit disappointing at York and I expected more from her at the track that day. But Leslie and kinter pull clear of everything else but breeze ran a really eye catching. I think John hunt was doing commentary that day and he highlighted it too. It was an eye catching run and obviously John quince on a tremendous number of things at the moment. So Brie and queen Olly and bright diamond for the combination try cast a take the slate off of the kaluki headquarters. Roof. The William hill handicap two 25 Goodwood. Again, live on ITV. By the way, the going is soft. What? What? Yeah, it's raining in Ireland as well. After all, this incredible weather. We now have to adjust to, hey, the same legend might be run on an awful ground after being good to firm for so long. Oberyn is the 72 market leader, a hero for Neil Callen at the shore guard cup meeting and a glorious Goodwood as well. Jason Watson, partner McClure scooter, and he was on board when beaten at York and we will be on board on Saturday as well. 72 from 6 to one with kaluki Lyndon B for John Flint and William Cox, a 5 to one shot, taka bay, 5 to one pad Thai in the saddle with kaluki and rosko Lin. Let's just say it with confidence and say it quickly and we might just get away with it. Then try not to highlight it. Oh, wait I've done that. David Amara and Kieran Fallon 7 to one. This is why I don't take myself too seriously, my friend. Two 25, a Goodwood. Right, what's your thoughts? Yeah, I was quite keen on taqueria bay for male mate Richard hannon. In here, these are three year olds taking on older horses. He's actually a highest rated horse in the field, but because of weight for age, he had to get a little bit of weight from one or two of his rivals. What really intrigued

"We'll also hear from William haggis and his ideas, radical proposals. We'll hear from Neil Callen. We might release that Neil cannon clip. It's a ten minute piece of Neil Cowen just going off on kempton and the BHA. And he doesn't even mention the fact that he took a mother and a father of a fall. He was just mentioning the fact that they canceled racing because of rain. That's a great Compton is right now. Or whether a track, if you cancel it due to snow, okay? I get that. All weather racing canceled because of rain? What? It's very reminiscent of John dock in 2018, which needed to be relayed. And that's exactly what Neil says about captain. So we might put that out on its own actually. That's an interview that I did with the metropolitan two. Luke Morris talks about the upcoming web changes and also the current state of too much racing essentially. So we'll hear from all of them, Richard fahey as well. And that will come out for you on Monday and some huskins will give you his thoughts as well. Sam was involved with the resource owners association. He was a very prominent member on that board and famously resigned and then came on the final for long to talk about that. And so he's going to talk about the current situation with British racing, declining field sizes, declining prize money. I had declining resource population and horses being sold Hong Kong yet more horses were announced heading off to Hong Kong, jockeys, leaving for Hong Kong as well. So all of that would come out on Monday show, but Thursday, mark and the team Baylor I think here as well as we preview the weekend's racing. So that will be on Thursday. We'll announce the winner of our hacked dot co dot UK competition then. So hacked up dot co dot UK, who trained the winner. Of the 2020 two cheltenham gold cup hero. Who is it who trained the winner? Hashtag FFP comp act final foreign pod on Twitter or DM is on Twitter and we will announce the winners next Thursday hacked up dot co dot UK and thanks to Lloyd and all the team there. They are mustard. Right, two O 5. Beverly. Wait to excel leads the way in terms of pro fors private ratings and leads the betting market as well. Ben Curtis and James Tate 15 to 8. Post impressionists were the first time tongue tied for William haggis, who has been banging in the winners all season 5 to two for a man who may very well be the new champion trainer. Stevie Dunne who on board 5 two is the current price with kaluki sportsbook and forgivable for Timmy's to be a 9 to one shot. Who are we looking at in the two O 5 at Beverly live on ITV Mark? Yeah, I'm a big fan of weight to excel in here. I think he's been really progressive on his last couple of starts winning at Hamilton and at ripping and one of the reasons I like him as much as I do is that he's very, very straightforward. He made the running at Hamilton to start to go erase prominently at ripon last time. He's on the upgrade very much so and I think he'll take plenty of stopping here from stall one and stole one for a horse who likes to race handy. It's just a perfect pitch for weight to excel. Yes, there are dangers there are some big stables in here, the likes of haggis Hugo Palmer variant, Charlie and Mark Johnston, but my view of this is that wait to excel just has much more progression in him than any of those artists and it's no real surprise I think that he's blooming now in the middle part of his three year old career because he's by postponed. I think the project of postponed, they just take a little while to come to themselves and these are horses that get better with age and I do like horses that race prominently

"Play here Silence were has a decent line into form here with the fact that he He won only. Is it a week ago. With the real world is very much on the up and Some very excited about and you have to run a fine race that day to be third and i thought he might be a horse. That if you wanted to go for each way option in the race with one-two-three he could be the one but yeah i think so because he runs against some extremely good horses doesn't if you look back through swami he's often running what you might think. It was slightly out of his depth and then he goes and runs third or maybe fourth. But so we'll be good enough with that and he's kind. Of course i could say you know you got those horses where they're not really each way horses. They're more place horses. Because within each way who you've really got to think that it has a genuine chance of winning but there are some way you think now it probably won't win a but i do think it's a very good chance of being second one in this case. Say third. Because i think that's probably only can hype for But i certainly wouldn't put you off him as a as a horse to get into the first three because it just seems to me no matter what company runs in. He's always got the potential to finish third so good old juke of has we love. Don't wait probably finished third. In whatever race he ran in you could run him unika dropping several grades and he's still be third. You drove into a class. Five at lingfield thursday and he's still be third. Yeah not not a bother So i think peralta was still my main selection but i i would give to hazard some consideration as well. I hope that mark strolling and karen following can bring about the necessary improvement with them at this springs to beverley my man and An old favourite the final furlong. Podcasts heads the market at judicial. Who of course loves this race. So this is the william hill. Beverly bullet sprint stakes. The listed race for the speedsters and It's going to be fascinating renewal. Judicial has The market colored. He's won this race back in two thousand nineteen I think he ran a fine it last year as well if my memory serves correctly. Maybe it's failing me. I'm not entirely certain. But he is one of beverly already. This season finishing third. Back in the fifteenth of june and last time at was back in the winner's enclosure at chester com. Rodriguez for judy camacho. Four to one dakota. Gold is five's hurricane. Ivor another bit of favourite on the puck. Podcast for william harrison till marquand thirteen to two and tis marvelous for clive. Cox and paul hannigan is sevens. So three year olds are not from fourteen in the in the beverly bullet. So he can knock out any three-year-old significantly. You're gone and and any others there's dandala by show yourself bye-bye but what about the mckenzie Who have you picked you know. A thing about statistics is that they're always there to be broken in the and i wonder whether significant might be the host to do this back. Well east all three are like a horse on the curve. It beverly near the inside and the fattening. He's a front runner means he'll stay trouble because you're not beverly because that is curved. All the way isn't it. And i think this is going to be potentially issue dakota gold who. I think really is probably taking everything into account. Learn the best horse in the race. Your very wide Significantly up in front as trouble dakota goal will either have to rigorous ways with a pack will stay wide the way she's not helping a sprint race but there's often congestion at beverly isn't it. Because of that curve and horses get behind. And then they try to switch out or try to maneuver in behind the other horses in front of them and i think significantly from me. He's he's got pole position here and he's he's not far fi inside ralph. So i'm gonna. I'm gonna stick my neck and say that that sequence could be broken in this beverly bullet and significantly. I think he's a decent price for me. And i just think there's some of the other horses in their job that good judicial. You mentioned the coach. Maybe an issue withdraw his marvelous think. He'll run his race hurricane either. He's very wide. I think there are a potential issues about all the others But of course we'd i wanna find federal sprint. Even listed what rousing the sprint handicap is. It's going to depend on. Who gets the brakes. But i think significantly. I need those. Because he'll be up front and And hopefully. We'll see another horse at any state during the rice. I have to ask you then about a another final furlan podcast favourite which is just another bottle. So this horse was. i'm trying to think. Was he fifties. When rory put him up and he became a another final furlan. Podcast monstrous gamble The idea that rory had with this worse was that if they applied Blink if the first time application of blinkers worked for him. He was his specific instructions. Were this is not an each way. Bet he is a win. Bet only because he's he's either going to win this or he's going to bomb entirely and he just burst out of the souls made all and nothing got near him as coming out of stole one and kevin could basically repeat those tactics here in a field size of twelve. He's on good to firm which was good ground Rippin and he's twelve is yours that you trust to backup that form. And possibly just given the fact that he's coming out of stow along. Could he burst out and make all and just be a little bit too hard to to peg back. He certainly got. The draw has an end and of course having mentioned significantly this the possibility they might end up running one another into the grand. I the way just another one at so rip. It was ridiculous we'll stay competitive handicap sprint so the season and nothing looked like overhaul ian from from start to finish and yet the kazeem transform classier opponents because these just a little step up from those typical saturday afternoon handicap. Is you know the grapes of wolford is a cracking race every year. And if he goes off in front as far as he did there It's quite possible. Not nothing will get near him. i and also that might selection significantly. I said i hoped he never see another horse from start to finish. He might actually see another horses rear end and it could be just another bottles disappearing over the horizon a significantly takes motorable second place But yeah every reason. I don't think there's any problem to in sprinting. With horses bridging that gap between good handicaps and going up a little step up the ladder. I mean this is a listed race but even so threes in groups. We've seen seahorses haven't we Sprinters during that time and time again is is harder for the horses over longer distances. So yes he he could do it. It is a case of whether the blinkers will work again but So that the price eventually say eleven to one twelve. You know if you if you're on riven it's a. It's a gamble at that price that you might be prepared to take because until you seen house gotta run a at bedrick we. We just don't know if he does it again. You'd be kicking yourself. Yes if you back. Senate rippin lost on the point you make about the difference between handicap enlisted even group three company and sprinters sprinters at group one level. Keep beating one another There's very little difference between the class of a sprinter at high-class handicap level. Where you're on a raiding ninety-six six and listed in groups free company and there's no reason why you can't back it up. I don't think they would put him in here on the back of two weeks unless they thought he was capable of running a massive race. He's always been incredibly frustrating. In the past and it's entirely possibly sulks. It's entirely possible. He just goes. Nah i've done it and And your horse significantly doesn't see another rival because just the bottle just can't be bothered today. But judicial is probably my selection and in fact he is nell down. i'll go judicial To win this race for the second time and it's significantly for For lee mckenzie. We've one more race to come on the final from podcast Before we do we should tell you that there is live streaming available without even having to.

"Transfer of power in there somewhere the other but i suspect that he has been showing a bit and i think he might go under the radar on your horse that dancing king. I'm seeing joe fanning and mark. Johnson goodwood as macho loves having his at goodwood and it should. He comes down for the florence meeting kettle festival. Every year from runs horses twice in the space for the week Because he you could tell. He adores the tracking eels winners there. But joe fanning front running jockey. Joe benton is source. I trying to lead all the way twisting around with diane's spelling front coming round down that final bend. no. Joe is really hard to pass it. He just gets the fractions right every single time and so And i love watching joe writing. Because he's never particularly animated as he. He pushes gently gets they cut. Coaxes the horses into going faster without say inflators whipple legged place and i think he's a magic writers awash and and when he's in front and i think he and goodwood go together particularly well and of course because of that. Turn down the hill into straight at goodwood if anybody tries to get positive force. Don't act wider on that. Turn and i know many years ago somebody said to me about horses in front at goodwood on that bend that the the straight could ever so slightly curved. It's not like Windsor for example appropriate dog occur for example. The proper don't like but it's very hard to get past the front runner on the rails. If the jockey is just it right joke do that tomorrow. I think it could be very interested adults. He came especially. Try this Favorite mexico's bouncing out of stole three as well. And he's he's lead. You has raised freely in the past. Which would which would worry me. He was slowly in behind kamari but he is suspect that they'll revert to to making all particularly in this small field Have an explanation by the way as to why this sources knowledgeable anymore because he sold them for four hundred thousand euro cash cash got. So that explains everything doesn't it so he's done right as a there is no connections. Have done okay. Regardless of what happens to them after this. What's what's interesting is that Low luigi whatever. He bought him presume with the intention of running him in the italian darby which he did and then subsequently sold them to shake ab- duller almanac. I'll ask. I hope that i have not insulted. Your entire family sir. with pronunciation and he's now bought him and sent him to david amara so he's he's a good horse he did well with andrew boating. Any you can't really not second in the italian dhabi can you even there. It's not know quite the same level as they are the british school the diabetes. Because if you if you say the epson dhabi people not absent dhabi yourself go cup. Ask go cop actually actually had a gentleman Come up to me from moscow. Didn't say excuse me so. And when you're referring to the race of the week would you mind referring to please the gold cup. You are permitted to say the gold cup at ascot. Do not refer to it as the ascot gold cup simply not right and wouldn't be right for the very sensitive the viewer. I don't know this guy actually worked for for ascott or not. But he's taking deadly. Seriously so i just went. Okay thanks very much and director was Was watching all this. And obviously we keep keeping i in everything else all right. There was some guy politely. Bollocks me i think just i that laughing this owner. By the way he's the vast majority sources are in training richard so interesting. The disinterested to david david o'meara the future. The future master of palliative oil according to the great scooper claude duval. His last grade scoop. He's going to be the master of ballydoyle so dancing. Yes it may come true. one day. I think the charleston is receding. I don't care is in line for that job. Thanks for him. That's pretty much done deal. ride mark johnston for me with dense gang. Roger very and nagano for for lee. which brings us tiana for me with one. I own one day. Of course of course blonde on him. One -nology and i would be tempted to a favor. Favorite get one place ball. Go gopher the celebration mile suicide been. Sarah was talking to or tv today and he said that battle will definitely come on for the run. The plan with ben battle Who you'll remember was sent to start He's still a full horse Didn't work out firm in the old getting it up with elitist thing. Yeah so Departments so But the option is still there is still full. Horse you know might very well return So she and murphy has been booked by cyber. They've built a very nice partnership together and I was at pains to stress. That he will improve for this run. He might not have to though Be interesting to see what you think of this race at puerto. I thought was interesting for marcus. Struggling karen fallon The eighteen that was available a couple of weeks ago. Gone sevens now Second favorite is chinda for richard hannon. There were high hopes for him at the start of the season. He does have a decent form to his name with poems. Peer poetic flair to to be fair Yeah i'm not even going to try and pronounce. Charlie hills gym curly horse. Most back there we go and And proto so. It's probably for me. I think i think i'm probably going to side with the the new bay from struggling and And kieran fallon but what about yourself lee. He slightly disappointed me since he won at ascot put i. I do think that he's better than these looked in his last couple of being. Okay the i was expecting a little bit more because that pretend you're such a competitive phrases net. It's one of the few race i've ever comes as possible. I was absolutely petrified. The other rights. I can cite. It has scanned. We in the past doesn't anymore. Is the predate elaborate emotional because sub god. You'll have to. You'll know that if finishes somewhere near the eiffel tower. Yeah it's seriously but the pretenders another one. I've come to terms with an animal ryan lieutenant and the pre library. But when i first compensation oversight i terrified me and a big such a competitive race with potential improvements in i do expect the winner in place sources to actually turn out to be quite good but yeah so i think pirata would have a chance. I think he has to make that next. Step up ben battle. I think there are question marks him now he seven years old. He's identities needed to run in the past to bring him on Because he has run pretty well when fresh and at his best he may probably have one this however do think trend is very interesting on a here. They kept him very high level. A one graham at newbury and then he's been running in group one company and he'd be running very well in it as well as not being beaten far and i think he's just been lowered a bit here to a group to and i don't think this is the best running at the celebration i've ever seen either so i think it's quite winnable for a genuine group one was to come in here and and against spam battle against him off a few issues as you say. He's coming back to racing. now he is. I think a genuine group to four. So he's happy at this kind of level. But i think chinda lays not crate made a group level. He has held his own very well. I'm going to send it to to beat them bustle. Who's who has been a a a wonderful through the ages of maybe there's still a bit more to come from him. But i am going to go. I think this is an ideal opportunity for yet. He he is a proper group performer than battle but of course he has to carry the group on penalty. He's carrying winston four. Everything else is carrying Well the three year olds so there's that so there it's twelve Whereas happy power. For example if i grow is carrying nine stone four so it's more the age thing the other words that that interested me and was on. My list was Juke of hazard for james doyle and an paul and oliver call and i thought he could be an interesting each way. Play here Silence were has a decent line into form here with the fact that he He won only. Is it.

Three for phillies. Where the betting is headed by bennie. Donaire let's go with janai. Works for me grand perfect. The important thing with whose names you can't pronounce his say them confidently and everybody else will think that he got it. Roman new rights four to one. Hello you ninety. Two tinderbox six to one throw sevens and masih ada one horse that quite like wilderness girl who he's christ sixteens For andrew balding and kieren fallon sixteen to one about wilderness. Girl your thoughts on the tote prestige stakes one fifty at goodwood live on racing tv. Yeah i think you've got a point there about looking down the list him. Eleven runners and you say about wilderness girl and that was a big filled That she ran in last time out at so good and she is potentially much better than we've seen so far so if you just gonna go for the opiates once. They're that much further. The betting you might not even get as far as wilderness skill entry boarding is having a terrific seasons easy being talked about as potential champion trainer this year and i think she could surprise. But i'm gonna go much further up the fact you any further. I've gone which is to the favourite. I think deny it is. I think she's an excellent favorite in fact on surprised she's not even sure. Say in the best thing Than she she looked good when she won on debut at kempton and in seconds on that straight into a good race. At deauville and trainers. They don't send horses today illness. They think they're they're pretty small. I know they're looking for french opportunities these days better price money. But a a deauville. Horses is a good horse. So i think she's. She's clearly better to me than any of the other chocolate best thing that could be one for further down mc the best stuff yet bound for me today is. She's a strong favorites. And i think she'll win. The thing about dna is that she was very impressive accountant and showed a very smart turn of foot that day and not run. At deauville was was tremendously. Impressive she also should improve for the good ground. Yeah because it was only on the slow side. Asset as often is in france of course because they do seem to water their trucks over there than we do like doing that The the david simcock horse is by ripped chester cost. Here's a piece of business for so somebody bought the horse for forty five thousand pounds as a yearling and then sold the horses two year old for five hundred nineteen thousand pounds. Damn those breeze ups are insane at she is. This is a clue throw thorough so number two seven to one look just because she cost that much. Money doesn't mean that she's going to go on and win The one thing. I'd say but are those that her at least the way she traveled on debut. She traveled very strongly. She was in midfield. Jamie spencer is booked to ride. So it's going to be typical jamie spencer reid. And he's particularly good on these sources who who travel really well. But i just kept coming back to wilderness girl who has the course and distance form like you said it was a big field that she beat that day. I just thought that that would be enough there. That that's that's glorious goodwood and you don't tend to run a horse at least in fact. We covered Richard hughes horse who run at the various meeting and finished second and then one as long odds on favorite yesterday and he thinks the world of that horse and was disappointed. The roses beaten at goodwood and just thought it was due to the ground. More than anything else. And my only slight doubt with wilderness girl is that she was beaten on debut On good to firm. But andrew balding sources tend to come on for their debut. Ron and i think should be fine on on good from ground especially as a daughter of not never out of a pivotal marriage. She shouldn't have any issue with the ground. And yeah it's lovely grind. It goodwood is well. They've got their own borehole where they keep their own secret. Supply was at straight straight from the clouds and they get horseradish. And i tell you if you ever go ever goes to good words you will not Go there and see. Patchy greenspan tufts of grass greg at the a growing at the flight. I'm not saying that you would say that. Any race goes by the way. Just in case in clark's for the course. But but it goodwood. It's particularly lush and it's quite long grasses well as it was glorious mason it was beautiful just look at it had longer than you have in your backyard if it if you have the kitchen window saint need is a bit of a mo- but you know it just looks so long unlash not a weed insight and a lovely cushion for the horses took to race on so you won't find a grant with jar at goodwood even even in a dry summer i and don't underestimate the the the value of course to distance victory either because it is a tricky track because there were horses that go round there and their horses that don't nothing when you're running around a bendik goodwin as well you had. You need a very well balanced individual. And i've seen horses go there who've got impressive form on flexible conventional tracks and they can't handle okay. It's not quite as wacky as epsom. we'll say brighton but then there aren't many like that but it is a test a horse and if they've done it before and for me. That is a big plus. So i i do like your longshot. There and i think she said being severely underestimated him. I think to me this is a this is a trike house race and Obviously if you're going to be in the plot give you some free valuable information in a second but Throw cut you have to be careful with that pronunciation. Jesus christ To throw think is going to run a big race here. I think she can improve an awful lot particularly with the way she..

"Is this kiss kind can actually be a winning player like an all mba caliber player on a winning team. Or is it really just when it's what it's like. Sixteen people watching him in minnesota in february and i was wondering if you really wanted to supercharge that franchise and set it on a new direction. You kinda give up the the most prized possession. It would be such a tough call to make. And there's there's the basketball part of that which is what are you giving up. Or what are you getting back for towns. That's good and young enough that it's aligning with edwards. That's gonna to fit whatever the new vision of your team is and then there's the human part of it too. Which is you know. Like towns is undergone incredible personal tragedy in recent years probably more directly affected by kovic than any player in the nba or at least as much as any player in the nba. The franchises tr- tried to support him through all that. Obviously you know there's just a different element to that and saying you know over the last couple of years and everything you've gone through now we're gonna flip you somewhere else now if towns wants that if you want it out. It's a different conversation. I meant it more in like kind of like. What if what if they came together. And we're like let's do. Let's do each other a favor here like this is gonna take another two seasons for us to get good at which i don't carl carl's got like what two years left three years left on that extension. He's got a bit left. Which is i mean that would be. If you're minnesota. I think the reason to just keep kind of trying to plug away and figure something out He has towns at so many fans in the league in terms of other teams other people who think really highly of him. There certainly the questions that you raise like. Is this guy really a winning player. Is he really somebody who can fit in. This context context. What kind of defender can he be. What does he. What does he really look like on a championship level team. Those are all really valid questions. But trading towns feels like a way to get stuck in that middle ground elliott. Words might be that kind of score where he gets you so far but only so far towns whatever you may think of him is a transformational type of player now if you can actually follow through and transform the way that his talent promises is a different question. But he's the kind of player who if i were running that team fight any kind of input on that team that you hold onto him as long as you possibly can and try to make it work because he feels like exactly the kind of guy who if you trade him if you signed somewhere in free agency is going to go on to do some pretty great things somewhere else. Yeah you're i mean you make really good points. I i think i was sort of for a second is just like i wonder if the lillard lillard putting himself into the trade market whether it was surreptitiously. You're because because he actually meant for that to happen and have those trade requests. Come out or have that. Like soft demand cabal. It just made me think a little bit about towns. Because i was like would you wouldn't downs. Be like a almost if you could put together a pack for towns with simmons. I wouldn't that be maybe a more modern player to get in than lillard like lillard. Embiid is obviously early. Seductive idea role for all these different things but like stretching the floor with a four like. That is pretty incredible. Now i don't know what it would take to pry loose from minnesota. I would imagine like a lot of picks to minnesota would be like. Yeah please like why. Don't you send us your your sort of superstar with flaws and we'll send you our superstar with flaws. But i was waiting for one of these teams to do something really really out of the box. Well here's the thing with the wolves and towns if you're if you're sitting there with him you have this experience with him. You know kind of where his game is. You've drafted anthony edwards. Who's pretty good. And it ultimately has not really meant anything for your franchise yet. You haven't gotten anywhere word that you traded for diangelo. Russel hasn't really moved the needle at all in terms of where that franchise wants to be. Now you're making these kinds of moves like okay. Well let's get some veteran helping. Get the pat beverly's of the world in the door. We'll see how much that really changes for them. I'm kind of thinking you know he'll. He'll fill a role he'll be it'd be a nice ad for them Fill some of what ricky rubio was giving or could have given them if that had panned out a different way in his latest. Stay with minnesota. But he's not. He's not changing that team. He's not elevating them as we've been talking about into a surefire playoff team or anything like that and so if you've made all of these categories of moves for talent at different levels and it hasn't done anything for yet you do have to start asking those kinds of questions like what do what do we have to do to the team here. Yeah exactly art man. Well look we talked about karl. Anthony towns the golden state warriors. The boston celtics with jalen and jason and we talked about all these different teams. Because that's who. The patrick beverley trades touch. So it's always interesting like i. I don't remember a week like this. Where a guy got traded twice. But it's fascinating when these like fourteen million dollar deals. I think like we were talking before the pod started about like this being the most tradeable contract is this weird the guys who were fourteen either expiring or maybe one year left and they have a lot of lots of offer a team in the right situation but are also incredibly tradable and we saw the half of this week with pat beverley. Yeah just useful enough that a team like the wolves would want him and just limited enough that he only makes so much that his salary is just totally movable on the nba trade market rod. Thank you so much for joining me this week. Of course it was nice to scrap for content with today. I'll feel like we did him proud. Joke your dog bit. We'll talk to you..

"Let's talk a little about minnesota before we go so minnesota is. I think everybody looks at them. And they're like you're actually not even as good as memphis shit clearly clearly not as good as yeah right but are behaving like they're the bulls like they're like that they are like they're like making moves to like ready themselves for the playoffs. I look at the west. I just can't see it not can't see them getting in there. Unless finch with an off season an aunt edwards with off season and you know the continue maturation of of towns or whatever like unless. There's something there that i don't see pat beverley being like we're going to beverly as the the edge that we needed to get i i i just don't see it with them well. They're behaving like a team. That has had one winning season in sixteen years. Yes you know that. That's and that's the trade off you know if you go the memphis route and you're kinda reshuffling and rebuilding and trying to get to a certain level of competence and then be patient that can sustain you for longer. you know. some people will get antsy. Fans will want you to make trays or fire. Whoever trade this guy or whatever that's fine but it's just more palatable to be at that level than to be where the wolves have been which is in some cases dysfunctional in some cases. Just bad This this to in lately injured. I think has been one of their big problems. They just need to get their guys on the florida. Even see how good they are so they have a long way to go. Yeah i you know. The it's worth noting. That gomez and culver both left with a really bad taste in their mouth about the franchise. So culver i think just was never getting really inconsistent minutes. Although i don't necessarily think is play warranted and hernan gomez. I hadn't even heard about this. Like super weird like he wanted to play in the olympics. The wolves were like. You're not it far enough into your medical rehab your shoulder to do it. He thought that they had like kind of an agreement to let him play and he was in the opening ceremony. And then they were like you're not supposed to play. And he tried going over rose's head to There's a really good article about disney athletic. But like basically tried to go straight to. Glenn taylor glenn taylor was like i'm not overruling roses and he was just like i want out outta here. I feel like that's the kind of thing that happens when you have like a y'all lot of young players a lot of money on the line around and they're not necessarily getting the direction that they need early in their career. I have no doubt that finch vinci like a really good coach and they They did show some really cool flashes in the second half the season once that leveled out. But not the kind that where you're like. Man saver for the for the timber wolves in the plane game. Even we haven't given him anything to play for yet if you're watching hernan gomez. If you're looking at my i wanna play for the national team or i'm gonna come back and play a role for the wolves the national team's gonna away that as it does even you know even if the wolves were good. There are a lot of guys especially coming from europe. Who that's that's their. Pride is playing for their national team. And when you lower the bar on the other side to say okay you're gonna come back and maybe if you try really hard to play really well. You're going to be in the play in tournament. Those aren't exactly equivalent x. In terms of your exercising the cost of those things i can totally understand why hernan gomez who you know aside from cornering the adam sandler market and i'm looking forward to enroll in that. This is kind of where he is at this point in his career trying to figure out who is an nba player. Trying to where he fits into all this. Maybe he can fit into a more with memphis. The new with minnesota. But i think you're right that the wolves for a team that's in their position that's been you know a lowly team pretty bad team. They just haven't figured out a way to even make sense of the young talent they have yet. That's that's not a great place to sit And some of that. Some of that comes down to injury. Some of it comes down to redundancy your bad luck or a lot of things have broken against them but they they just have so much sort out before they can become a good team. Pat beverley feels like he might help in some ways but maybe he's kind of skipping a step before they get the real issue sorted out. I want to end this podcast in galaxy mode. If that's okay please. If you're gershon roses and you haven't been good in. You've missed the playoffs for all these years. You've been kind of an nba punchline for awhile is what if you just like go out there and try and get the best deal possible for towns like i saw that they were thinking that there was some stuff around. Patrick beverley is a perfect addition for this proposed. Ben simmons trade. And i guess there has been some talk about like a three way deal. I mean there's nothing that minnesota has like dangelo. Russell and patrick. Beverley is not gonna be. Ben simmons trade package. I think that the sixers rather just go. Try again with simmons. If that came to that but was kind of looking around like edwards. And if you think anthony edwards is is that guy like what what could you get right now for towns. Because he's so. I think he's almost like the nba forgotten. Men like he's just been wiling away on not unlike kevin love putting up great stats a bad team in minnesota for years now and you start to wonder whether or not the page turns a.

"Russel because they saw him being part of their core and then basically traded him as soon as they could for the next reasonable deal. They could get so. I would take everything. They say about their young prospects with a grain of salt. I'm sure they like those guys. I'm sure they envision a certain future with them but if the right player becomes available there are going to jump at that opportunity. And they're the team that i'm watching this group for sure because you know for a franchise with this high of expectation that just two teenagers in the draft. Are they really patient enough to stick it out if things start going sideways if they get into january or february without clay. They're kind of bordering on the bubble kind of area for the western conference. Are draymond steph. Really going to be cool saying let's ride this out. Let's see how we are healthy going into the playoffs and not try to get more veteran helping there. That's that's a big ask for those guys. Yeah the two things. I thought were no worthy this week. Were obviously commingle popped a bit at summer league and i was thinking about. Never underestimate like the hubris of a billionaire who who had a lot to do with the draft pick you know like perhaps you're right like like lake of is out there selling his wares and we love commingle. We think coming as mazing but he was not shy about being like i was involved in the commingle pick like i had dinner with commingle before redrafted. Him and i could see him being like no. This dude is the future of the franchise. So unless i'm getting somebody who i know will put us right back in that k. d. zone like i'm i may not. He may be lows to move off of them because for him. It's like his guy. You know what. I mean like a lot of these dudes before our our our the previous administrations draft picks. Even though they wound up delivering the title to to the warriors. So it's it's an interesting situation. And then the other sort of wrinkle with the warriors thing. And i don't know how much weight i put on this. But obviously a lot of people talking about this Katie draymond podcast. Up chips this week and i wouldn't like overreact. I'm sure a lot of the stuff that they've sat on that podcast stuff. That was that steve. Kerr bob myers joe glaze over the warriors. Folks were aware of. But i was kind of like yeah. They like the warriors front office and coaching coaches fucked up. The katie relationship fucked up are like spat that there was like that was that didn't necessarily send katie out the door but that it was a sign of things to come and that was like one of the first times i think i've heard draymond specifically kind of roll his eyes publicly at the team. Did you get that impression as well. Oh yeah but. I don't think that's the first time. Especially with steve. Kerr i think he tends to roll his eyes quite a lot. But i mean those conversations were definitely interesting i think they both put a perspective on it. They hadn't before it also felt like two guys like trying to shy away from blame in that entire situation saying oh no we argued but it was their fault for punishing him a wrong way or yeah i mean if if all that matters is as they said getting back together in the room the two of them and hashing it out. Then why didn't they hash it out right right. I mean maybe steve kerr was like what do you want me to do about this. You guys had a fight like it was interesting that they invoked scottie. Pippen in that conversation and was like steve. Kerr played with scottie pippen. I'm sure he's aware of what it was like to play with jordan. Scottie visited various points. Anyway like i thought that that was a i remain like so up and down the warriors because these fluctuations happen where you kind of go into it and you talk yourself into like splash. Brothers or back it would all is back. Wiegand is more comfortable. wiseman year to these rookies. Look great they fill out the roster in a really smart way and then you could just like step two feet to the left and be like. Oh this team. Isn't that good. This seems a lot. Like what happens if steph. Six weeks for some reason like they're they're it's a nightmare. I mean they're going to be smarter team for sharp. They're going to be a better three point shooting team. They're just more capable in terms of you know as we were time on the fringes. They've reloaded in a really smart way. But that only gets you so far. If you don't have dynamic shot chretien with steph if it becomes to easy to load up on steph or as you're saying you know god forbid what happens. If he gets hurt at some point this season you'd figure things out on the fly under pressure against some of the best teams in the western conference. I think we're asking a lot of this team very quickly especially when we don't know when claes coming back which i'm kind of expecting as you mentioned twenty twenty two going into you know late winter early spring is maybe when we see him if not back on the floor at least back on starting to get back on the floor in a way. That actually looks like klay thompson again. Yeah i agree with you. So let's go to the second team. Patrick beverley was with this week. The memphis grizzlies. Who i gotta admit. I don't really chat a lot about. Because i believe that verno on the nba other nba feet. But i have to say that they find themselves in this incredibly weird place where they are kind of this way station for other teams bad contracts and like in a in a perpetual rebuild but also clearly one of the smarter teams out there and at least one of the best developmental programs in the nba. Like hands down like you can't argue with that. I don't really know like you said you alluded to this in the beginning of the podcast. Like why are they getting into this. Patrick is is it because they thought they they had this covert deal lined up. Is it because culver as number six. Pick at that kind of taking a flyer on a guy who was obviously very disenchanted A v very unhappy. Im- minnesota is just like a no brainer into their model of of how they want to build the team. I mean i guess if they didn't already have it lined up. They had a strong suspicion. That could get something like this. Which is we're going to trade him to a team that that wants to get better. That's trying to improve the season and they're going to send us. You know their draft guy who didn't quite work out who rates willie really well by our models and we think could be an nba player. That's probably the range they were gunning for. Especially when you're talking about you know the the precursor to this was the trade. They made with new orleans in the first place where they were trying to move up in the draft in the unicef Stephen adams. Eric bledsoe mess So he get zaire williams out of that and then they're trying to flip these pieces and said okay. What other kind of upside moves. Can we make care. Because that's been kind of what their timeline looks like. What they're you know the way that they're operating as as a team that you know isn't quite secure in what they have yet and rightly so they feel good about the core guys that they have. They feel good about their ability to draft. But they need guys who are gonna push them into that next level. Yeah and i don't know who that is because they're about to pay presumably thereabouts pay jackson they. They've got to get that deal. That extension done either before the end of this off season or they have to wait 'til next season jaaz due for an extension. I think at at the end of this coming season right so he can. He can get his extension then and then so you pay jaren jackson junior. Who's still getting back to to to to where thought he could be after his injury and john. Marin who's amazing but is maybe not in in the zone where you're like guys are going to drop everything to complete with him. Whereas like personally i i would save..

"Rob mahoney. What's going on chris. What's going on. Not it's it's the dog days of the nba. They said it could be done. They said you can't make nba content in the middle of august and challenge accepted. Because while you. And i are probably having some pretty like low key weeks. You're catching up on peak tv. I'm a. I'm i'm just doing my thing out here. I'm trying to make a really perfect chicken thigh on the grill. Patrick beverley played for three. Nba teams this week. I mean he didn't play. But so sunday he was a clipper by the end of the day he was traded to the memphis grizzlies. Which if there was ever a team that he should go to that. Embodied patrick beverley qualities as a player and as a person that grit and grind identity that the the grizzlies admittedly left behind somewhat was definitely that and he seemed to embrace that and then on tuesday he was treated again. This time to minnesota. So when he was traded to memphis it was for eric bledsoe he was traded alongside on rondo. And daniela toro. And then he was traded to minnesota for jarrett culver and watch over and go gomez which makes three teams in one week for patrick beverley so he is now a timber wolves and this got me thinking that in some ways. What happened to patrick. Beverley is like a perfect vessel to discuss a bunch of different financial competitive realities in the league. So i wanted to talk to rob about that. This week robe-like. This patrick beverley explained the world like this does the move guy making about fourteen million dollars. And last year of deal of thirty-three-year-old point guard who in a lot of ways his qualities are are are intangible things brings to a team like feist and competitive nature and you know a assumption that he's a great defender. Although i wonder if certain defend defensive analytics suggest otherwise and also like the way in which this contract has now ping pong around the league and and it's meant different things when he's on a different team for twenty four hours what what are. What do you think about this. Patrick beverley movement. That we saw this week would speaks to you. Know the differences in positions that these three teams are in certainly in terms of their competitive timetable. What their needs are what. They're looking for pat. Beverley is interesting because he's one of these players whose theoretically useful to almost anyone. Any team could use a guard. Who's going to get into the ball. Who can hit some threes. Who again as you mentioned can be feisty can be competitive. That's a guy that's useful to a lot of different teams. But he's not so useful that you don't trade him when you wanna shake things up and so that i mean that's what we're seeing. What the clippers in particular and then as we go down this chain you know. I think there are questions as to why the grizzlies participated in that trade in the first place and they became a little clearer. Once they made the second trade with the wolves to get jerry culver in the door take a take a look at him But beverly is the vessel. He's the medium for all of this stuff for understanding all three of these teams understanding a lot of of where the league is for these kind of mid salaried players right now. Yeah like it to to just take take the human factor before we get into the the trade marketing and and the salary ramifications. I will say that at each step in the process. Pat bev is expressed enthusiasm for when reggie jackson recited the clippers. He tweeted yes sir gang back and when he was delta memphis he tweeted grit and grind. Let's go all caps like he seemed psyched for that. And when he finally wound up minnesota he tweeted. Obviously maybe having learned to measure is expectations. Extremely excited let's go all all nor normal capitalization so obviously. I'm sure he's happy to be on a team that wants in minnesota and he's got a relationship with gerson roses like the the over minnesota but this is a guy who like i said in his in his. He's thirty three's in the final year of a three year contract and which will earn fourteen point three million dollars and i want to start by talking about what this means for each team involved because i think given the behavior of each of these teams you can learn a lot about a cluster of teams. That are sort of doing similar things and have done similar things over the offseason. We tend to go into these these Free agency off seasons the trade. The trade off season thinking. Everybody's going for it right. Everybody is is in the market trying to figure out if they have the pieces together. Ben simmons to get bradley beal to get a damian lillard. Do they have the cap space to sign a kyle. Lowry can they do it. And then once all that dust settles. There's a lot of just kind of like i. Would you call expectation setting. Would you call it book cleaning. There's a lot of just like dirty work. That happens at this time of year. So that teams kind of go into to the season. With all their is dot their t's cross-strait yep and you don't want to be caught in a position where you're not able to pivot if you need to. You know if you're in this space you wanna be good enough to give yourself a shot to go into the season to see what what's what with your roster to see if maybe you can over chief a little bit relative to those expectations but if you know things really start to go sideways you wanna have movable contracts you wanna have players who are going to be attractive on the market all those kinds of things. That really feels like what the clippers are doing here. Not only you know. Saving themselves the money in kind of flipping contractor contract. And i think there's there's a basketball value in trading you know pat beverley and rajon rondo for eric bledsoe like there's a reasoning their leasing ostensible reasoning It's not like the reason they're doing this deal per se you know. There's no overwhelming need to make this trade beyond. Let's try something a little different. Let's shake things up on the edges of what we've got going on while kawais out. I think that's kind of been the hallmark of this. Most recent era of clippers team building is the churn around the edges right so when they went from that last sort of irritation of won't sort that the documentation that had no expectations and wound up being like a superfund team. And you and you develop this value for guys like mantras heroin or whatever and then that sliding into the last year and the first hi lou year. I now think that they obviously are just like a lot of our money is tied up and coli and paul george and we are just going to constantly be like moving through players on the outside of those two to to create something. We think is sustainable and viable and dilu- is actually the perfect coach for that kind of philosophy because he's so adaptable because he kind of maximizes everything that he's got around him right. Definitely lose a great fit for exactly that kind of philosophy. And i mean it it helps in terms of. You're gonna go in that direction. None of these guys that they have on the edges have been essential who they are and beverly part of the biggest impact that beverly has on. A game is probably in energy alone just in terms of getting into guys heads getting into the game. I think the clippers are past the point where the rallying behind that with him specifically those days are gone as you mentioned. There was a point where he was this important figure in the organization is towed them for further identity. He's he's not that anymore. Now they have other needs they. You know that that magic has has lost its luster a little bit and they just need a little more juice on the ball. They need somebody who can dribble a little more. If you have a slightly different skill set and so then it makes sense. You know even when you do. Have a coach tyler. Who's going to swap in all these interchangeable parts. Let's give him some different parts to work with and see if the results look any different. Yeah so he gets back bledsoe. Who's obviously a more useful offensive player than rondo. And beverly. obviously he's also been a little bit in the desert like he. He has become kind of like a pin yada for like spacing maniacs in the nba where it's just like you can't have bledsoe on a team. Where like other guys need space and other guys need the ball and that i wonder whether or not he he is kind of reached the end of his rope in the nba..

Detroit Pistons Sign Luka Garza
"Luke garza could actually become a real. Nba player that guy that one collegiate player of the year and yet nobody wanted and is drafted in the nba draft What ended up with twenty and fourteen or something. Last night he was. He was outstanding Again he has dow signed a two way deal. So luger's who does nobody been. It's he'll end up getting four The pistons but luca garza signed a two two way deal. He of course had a historic collegiate career at iowa. But he was you know by all accounts slow-footed big played near around the basket and so was of no use to people in the nba. And yet he made threes. He put up to huge double doubles and in their finale. Last night ends it with twenty one point and fifteen rebounds and got himself a two way contract so the luka garza dream is still alive after getting selected fifty second in the nba draft. Clippers Trade Patrick Beverley, Rajon Rondo for Eric Bledsoe
"The clippers have reportedly acquired veteran guard. Eric bledsoe from the grizzlies. They will send patrick. Beverley rajon rondo and daniel otaru to memphis and the deal. This'll be bledsoe's second stint with the clippers. He was drafted by the team in two thousand ten and spent his first three seasons in la. This is mostly a money move. It saves clippers thirty million in luxury tax and it creates eight point three million traded player exemption that they will have a year to us so it gives them some flexibility moneywise bledsoe's going into his twelfth. Nba season the average twelve point. Two points three point four rebounds and three point eight assists per game last season with the pelicans. He was traded to the grizzlies before the draft in july. So think this is a good move overall. Money wise for the for the clippers. And you also get a good player and eric so people were kind of freaking out like us too much eric. What's it like. This is cleared up a lot of money with this. Also the way patrick. Beverley season ended with a clipper. That's something the way. Push chris. Paul the clippers organization his had a history of being not the classiest they now feel like a classy organization and that was a kind of a really bottom move. That was not it kind of felt like that was the end of the

"Close doing it elevated what they were doing but it didn't strike me as controversial the way he did it. Because it wasn't a free agency choice or anything like that kinda was but you know the way orchestra so i think the fans the fans are split but someone some of the people. I tweeted question about that. How do you feel about chris. Paul you know like not trying to be snarky but like does this make you happy for him. Does this make you sad as making angry given that it knocked out the clippers in a couple were like i don't wanna see them have success like he. Flops is not good for the game anymore. he didn't quite get it done with us. And basically like all the antics do you root for beverly and it was like. Yeah and they're like do you see. That's kind of hypocritical. But i think you can ride with people that are on your team. But beverly you know i i like him too but some of the stuff last night just generally i get why. He doesn't like chris paul. If he doesn't last night look you know you. Just take the l you played hard. He got a great game offensively. Beverly was going toe to toe with paul and everybody else in that first quarter. But you don't want to see stuff devolve into that you know. Just just let the moment be. What is the clippers. Had a great season. I was disappointed to see that. But it's pat beverley as i understand it to give our listeners a little peek behind the curtain right before tip off. I texted one of our editors. Chris and i said if the clippers win pat. Beverley does not play atrocious. I would love to ray. A pat beverley column for friday and like ten seconds later. I was like you know. I definitely just jinxed this idea. It's definitely not going to happen now that i texted you just disregard and as much as much in the first quarter i was like. Oh my god is. This is going to be perfect. The i already wrote. The i started writing the lead like i was getting very excited and make it just all fell apart and i was like okay. Well i've never reading. Patrick beverley column for the rest of my life now. That makes it tough. I mean look you. Everybody wants somebody like that on their team. But then there's that moment where you it starts to get indefensible. I mean he was enormously physical in this series. Anyway and i don. I don't think he was intending to hurt devon booker you know. It was interesting because i think there've been so many polarizing plays in this postseason. There was the play with yokich and the campaign. And you know there was the play the game before this last one Where he came and was trying to get over the screen and defend chris. Paul chris paul goes flying because beverley runs. Enormous did run. It was obviously foul but the extent of the foul was a dirty play. Did he undercut chris. Paul did only undercut chris. Paul because chris paul kicked his legs way high in the air to try to draw foul and then beverley storming off talking about chris. Paul's plopping is chris. Paul had a really scary looking. All you know. So it's like it's so slightly uncalled-for it was. Yeah it is so it made pat beverley walking off look bad but at the same time. We know chris. Paul flops a lot. So it's it. It gets hard to defend them sometimes. But you want somebody like that on your team. That plays hard that maybe they go over the edge..

Power Rankings: Can the Clippers stay atop the West?
"Espn's nba power rankings. Talking about how great everything was going in. La or how much noise l. Making right now in the sports universe but the lakers no longer number one in the rankings. So maybe la's fallen down a little. Except the clippers have assumed the number one spot kawhi leonard and company. The nba's best record the clippers. Have a six game. Swing with leonard and paul george entering quarantine due to health and safety protocols and patrick beverley. He's out they had a seven game. Winning streak snapped in atlanta. The co and paul george back after missing just two games due to contact. Tracing the clippers are a deep team. There were deep team last year. But i think bach gives them a premium over mantras harrell because he can spread the floor. He can shoot the three and he can rim defend. He can defend the paint at certainly blocked shots. At least he's very good defender. As is harold box more versatile moreover more versatile player you can play a lot of big next to a bacha because he can do some things that some modern pigs can't but serge ibaka is not the reason that they're you know this good. They've played together another season. Tyler is doing a very good job. Don't forget and this goes for what i said about the nets last segment to we're in a covert year. Still where there's not practice like. They're normally is and people are socially distanced so first year teams that come together like the nets last year like brooklyn. This year are at a disadvantage but brooklyn's now going on their second year with sorry. The clippers are largely with the same cast. And yet you know. Lou will mantras harrell reggie jackson nick tomb. Which was a big pickup nick. A tumor he got a max deal or something close to it. Because he was the status all star. I mentioned this last week but at that time. Are you sure that you knew who was going to be better between kawhi leonard klay thompson and nick platoon. But he was in that category people when he got his deal. Weren't even like oh. That's too much for nick petunia. Like oh he's really good player. Lost interest on a noncompetitive team. He looks interested again. Remember he got a max deal wasn't no one. Did him any favors. He earned it so. That's a big pickup for them. Interested nick we can play making do some things but none of this really matters to me for the clippers and i understand power. Rankings are based on regular season performance. Guys until paul. George shows up as like this if paul george showed up his normal self. The clippers are still at a disadvantage against the lakers because kawai and libron or both superstars as is a de. Paul george is the next thing to a superstar. Paul george is not a five star player. He's a four and a half star player. So even if paul george it shows up as his normal self. Ain't going to be enough for the clippers in the playoffs. He has to be just to see but instead of that or even stay the same. He gets in the playoffs. So i don't believe in this clippers team in the play. I don't care what they do. In the regular season. Until i see paul george show up when it matters in the playoffs. A believer

The Los Angeles Clippers Have Fired Doc Rivers
"Another myth another legend was fired Bob and I don't you were shocked as I was I, didn't see this coming where Doc rivers we had on the podcast you and I are both huge fans of doc as a human being as a coach. I don't. I. Don't know where I stand right now. Obviously, he is blown some big leads the latest being one in the bubble. Denver and with a team that let's face it. Steve. Balmer paid doc rivers big money to win a championship not not be eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the in the western conference semifinals so Valid or not valid to let doc rivers go. I knew that we all knew that losing another three to one was not a good thing to have on on anyone's resume to do it twice in. Three years. And the do it with this owner as you said, who invested the overpaid for the team I think even by modern standards that teams are worthy he he got a little giddy with his two billion dollar plus purchase of the clippers the Lakers we could see but not the clippers. So okay, he's invested in this and I worried about it a little bit but I didn't think it would happen. I thought it was a possibility of Steve Bomber angry. But, I, thought it was an of course couching it. It's mutual ha you know coming out of the usual walk away from that money it's the modern. Thing to do that say it's mutual nationally I felt badly because I am very proprietary to a doctor and I have communicate with him already. But. It's understandable that an owner. Successful businessman. Odyssey's bomber is a highly successful with that investment. I I don't know what I don't know Jeff is the level of his own personal basketball acumen. I don't know how much he thinks. He knows he knows more doesn't knows more than that part I don't know you know. Here's what I'll tell you about. Here's what I'll tell you I. Don't think this was all Steve. Balmer. My guess is Jerry West who they pay a ton of money as a consultant. Okay. As a consultant. Yeah. Good point is Jerry West played a significant. In this move and now the question will be. What what's next in the big thing with doc and you and I know this we've been around enough. Great human being great communicator. But the biggest words that you would hear from players about doc dating back to the Celtics was a little bit of a Country Club, right? It's it's easy doctors a practice much. Older players veterans love, them. Again it's where you want to go to and the latter part of your. Extend Your career. and You wonder if that played a huge part here because certainly the clippers didn't look like there were in tiptop condition in the bubble weather. It was Knox fault whether it's back that mantras Harrow had a death in the family and didn't come into the bubble too late whether it's a fact that Lou Williams left the bubble and came back the Patrick Beverley. There were there were a lot of issues. But ultimately. It. Probably does follow on doc in a sense that you had the pieces you had the pieces. You shouldn't be watching if you're the clippers, you can't be watching the Los Angeles Lakers right now compete for

There Sam first of all, where are you right now I'm in the NBA bubble a new home away from home inside my hotel room and Casillas number to think twenty seven, twenty two is the room number if anybody wants to. Send packages or love one of the two But yeah, this is this is why these days. How has your bubble experience been so far to be honest committed it's gotten better. The airport experience was felt more stressful than I thought it went I actually had to masks because the end ninety five that US was one of those that does not protect the other person. So I put a cloth masks over that and then I ended up doing facial as well and it was the right move except man that first day travel psychologically I, remember just getting. Into, the hotel room just going Oh, boy that was the longest day of travel. I've ever had because mentally you can't smile at people. You can't talk to people that got me off to a tough start and then it's a nice room but the windows don't open you can't have a window open. There's no balcony unfortunately, the floor when I got here had not been cleaned so I would pay some walk and have bare feet in at the end of the. Day My feet would be black and so that mentally can after four five, six days you're sitting there going man I feel like I'm in this kind of dirty box. The other stuff that the players have talked a lot about is that even if the accommodations are fairly nice, it's just the psychological restriction and lack of freedom and knowing that you cannot go where you want to go. You can go on a walk around the perimeter, but if you go that. Direction and if you even go ten feet past the perimeter, you'll get seven days a quarantine. You know the other stuff also as it's just the interpersonal relationships and the people that everybody left behind you know whether you have a family or a girlfriend or a boyfriend whatever it is all that stuff adds up to a pretty challenging landscape had a productive couple of days. I'm going to carve out a little mental health time and there's a big pick ballgame happening. This afternoon with me in a few writers. I'm getting there. Well. So speaking of all of these challenges as in the bubble, let's talk about this epic meltdown of the team, a lot of people expected to at all the clippers. mcnuggets Oregon on time La. Twenty point lead with two ten remaining. This is absolutely shocking. What went wrong with the La Against Denver I think the broadview for me would be that we always felt like this team was potentially far too transactional if that makes sense. Somebody the other day, use the word mercenaries where it's kind of like I collide Leonard Paul. George have a ton of talent and they looked very good for most of the regular season. But in the bubble, what you saw was a team that was still learning one another in a team that wants the pressure continued to be applied by these other very good playoff teams. They did not have the fabric, the togetherness that connectivity and leadership to get through that. In Game Seven, I sat about twenty feet away from the clippers bench and that meant that I watched a clippers bench that with around seven minutes to go and I think they were down around thirteen at the time they just completely look like they gave up. This is what your best players got to elevate their game. And the clippers have disappointed asphalt. From the field. Two points in the fourth quarter. And frustrated, the stock of the heads went down the talking stopped you had all of a sudden whereas earlier in the game there was a flood of support and clapping from guys on the bench and intensity and passion. You had the golf clap clippers owner Steve bomber feeling like limber fans right now. I am absolutely shocked. Give this Denver Nuggets team a lot of credit. have taken the fight away from the clippers. deservedly. So the leadership thing is what they need to analyse going forward because as amazing Kawhi is he's incredibly quiet. We know that and Paul George I don't think has really ever found his leadership voice maybe that's just not the type of personality he is. But if you compare them to that other team in La, you know you've got a dude and Lebron whose so fogel and raise on Rhonda who sell vocal and I think if I had to pinpoint one of the biggest factors that kind of led to their demise I think it would be that. you and our colleague Yvonne Boo reported on chemistry issues within the clippers back. In January, did you get the sense that those issues were still present inside the bubble? So I don't I wish I had a better pulse on that. You Doc was kind of the main voice that I heard. I went to to other practices where I would listen closely to what doc had to say, and one thing that struck me was he would very candidly talk about how they were still learning each other as a team in the middle of the playoffs I look at the whole picture and I realize we haven't been together we haven't had a lot of time together. So I get it. You had the old guard, the Lou, Williams Pat Beverley mantras hair let group that did some pretty special things and the playoffs last year and was gritty and would play forty eight minutes a night if you wanted them to. Now, they tried to integrate with Choline Paul who came with the very different script and a very different style and combining the old and the new had its fits and starts, and certainly in the end, it seems like a lot of those things out. Cherishing teams are. The more chemistry for this group. D, better. I think that's really the tell at a tape with the season just didn't have enough time together. Paul George has been vocal about the mental toll of being in the bubble a couple of weeks ago. Paul George talked about being in a dark place whatever. The bubble got the best of me. I was just in a dark place. A really wasn't here. I checked out and SAM. You've gotten a taste of what it's like to be an isolation down there. We've just talked about that. Do you feel like Paul George and the clippers were maybe hit harder by the challenges of playing in this Environment Paul for sure I mean I applaud him for his willingness to speak openly about it, and then only he knows where his head was at in the later part of the series but I'll never forget I mean right corner. He shoots that three and it clicks off the backboard George. Why office to side of the backboard left corner he barely draws rim on three George Corner three way off short. Gets the rebound Paul George. Now, just to for ten from downtown they were more shook I don't know how to explain it than any NBA team I've ever seen in a crucial moment. I've never seen anything like that. So I don't know how Paul's State of mind came into play but I do think the clippers had a really hard time getting through all that stuff. So Sam what comes next for the clippers, they have a lot of strong personalities and obviously some divisions between them can they hold it together and be titled Favorites Again Next Year you know to be determined. There's already a little bit of a growing sense or at least questions around the League of are they is there any chance they would think about blowing this out because you got to remember to why Paul signed deals they're up next summer they can get out and and when they came to the clippers. People felt like it was unofficially you know a lifetime contract because those guys have the personal connection to the area but I think we're quickly getting reminded that if the basketball situation is not right and if their work life is negative, then you absolutely can't rule out the possibility of them changing their minds. Year and maybe sounding somewhere else you know the NBA rules are when you have a superstar a year away from free agency YOU'RE GONNA probably have to take those phone calls from other teams if you're not getting assurances and promises from those players that they're not going anywhere. So they've got a lot of questions to have answered and it's going to be painful for them to watch this Lakers nuggets series knowing how close they came.

Los Angeles Clippers Complete Historic Collapse As Nuggets Take Stunning Game 7
"Well. This night is going to be remembered for a long time and there's a whole bunch of different reasons why people are gonNA remember it. The laker fans have their reasons. the clippers fans have their reasons. The nuggets fans have their reasons I think I just clip. Yeah they're there It's it's rough right now. I mean I I I think any team that had duplex have experienced. What just there? That is a devastating blow, but I think I just watched. McMahon I'll see if you agree. was. An Absolute Total grade a choke. Oh, not just. All much in the three one aspect I mean that jokes who actually in the three one aspect especially in the blowing double figure leads in the last three games while choke in that even setting that aside, I'm just talking about the actual performance of night. Oh, what it only took him seven minutes in the fourth quarter to get a bucket. Yeah. Okay. We're of P. turnovers than frequent hold on hold your fire is just for a second dinner decided the backboard hold your fire for a sector. That would i. I think what I saw was that was a historic choke job and combined with a spectacular game seven performance by the nuggets or. Spectacular Three game comeback by the neck and look. Let's give the nuggets credit to straight series down three one comeback when Bo series Yokich. There's no. Yeah. But with Yokich is at minimum a second tier superstar right behind the parental VP candidates well. He was a I hear superstar in this game. For sure. He totally eviscerated Kawai Leonard in this game and really in the back half of the series but in this game. especially. Yeah I mean he he was great in this game I mean. Just. Look at the box score Paul millsap only had six points but. his buckets were huge. He played on the better six point three rebound performances. I've ever seen Jamal Murray. We've gotta get in this guy's on the Kahane's factor starting five this year forty points in a game seven. So yes. Absolutely, give the nuggets credit and we've got time to talk nice about the nuggets. But what we need to do right now is pile on the most arrogant bunch of guys. The most Arab arrogant franchises never sniffed a frigging conference finals and hey, props to the Portland Trailblazers back court for completely unloading their troll game. Warden CJ mccollum absolutely deserved to just fire away because you got Paul George and Patrick Beverley acting like they're on some frigging dynasty. They've never sniffed the conference files. Why are they act like there's some you know I mean come on now. So yes, I. I'll be honest I thoroughly enjoyed the collapse and the troll jobs that came along with it.

Clippers, Nuggets set to decide matters in Game 7
"Nuggets clippers on Tuesday I guess we don't really need to Belabor like game six. By the time, most people listen to this they're. Game seven might be tipped off already I love this nuggets team so much more than the clippers so much more than the clippers I mean everyone kind of does, but like the the the nuggets. Taking away the dramatics like the I'm not even talking about like the Pat Beverley Lake. The EH in the like I'm not even talking to personalities playoff persona like all that I'm talking about like watching them play basketball the clipper the nuggets are so fun to

Some NBA players sit out the season
"Okay, Let's talk about the MBA there beginning this week in Orlando in Florida, which is a co vivid nightmare at this point. Some players air sitting it out, or they just saying I'm not going to play because I'm afraid of getting covered. Yes, Some players were sitting out because of family members that are at risk. Some players were just sitting out because they're not going to do it. You got key members of Seems like the Clippers, you know mantra. Is Harold sitting out Patrick Beverley sitting it out. You know, these are key elements of members of a lot of teams are saying, Hey, I need to Protect my family and protect myself and that's responsible. But then you've got other members of the Clippers like Lou Williams, who actually went back to Atlanta for a funeral. And then was photographed at a strip club with a rapper. He posed the rap, proposed it to his instagram, and then he quickly deleted it. And then he came out and said, Hey, that was an old picture of me and Lou Williams. I love him so much. I want to do it. But in the picture Lou Williams was wearing an N B a sanctioned mask. You know the way people were Matt five years ago that the MBA sanctioned know that he got busted in this thing. So now the Williamses basically quarantined for 10 days. He can't play in the first couple of games back. He just can't play in the 1st 2 games, one of them against the Lakers. So it affects the team and what the N B A is saying, you know, they had a squeaky clean record. They just recently tested everyone and had zero positive tests inside the bubble, But some players have to leave the bubble stars Ion Williamson, who's the big stars Big rookie star from the New Orleans Pelicans. He had to leave for a family emergency. A health emergency if you and they ask for permission to leave, if you ask for permission to leave than you have Ah, four day quarantine when you come back into the bubble and you get tested, But if you leave and you violate the rules, it's a 10 day quarantine and this is going to affect games. As we move forward as we're trying to set up, you know the best possible scenario where the teams are playing at full strength. This is going to affect

Sung Kang reveals the fight to make 'Better Luck Tomorrow'
"Sung king you know him as the street racers. Hans Solo. I love that Han Solo in the fast and furious movies. And you can argue that. Seng's portrayal of Han the impossibly cool mentor of Tokyo drift. A member of the core fast and furious family made the franchise the most surprising and successful blockbuster series in Hollywood history. I would definitely make the argument so we are very lucky to have the chance to speak with Song. Today on Asian enough. Thank you for being here with us forever me we want to start off by addressing the big news. Which is you are coming back to the fast and furious franchise for the upcoming fast and furious. Nine which is huge for those of us who obsessively watched these movies because we know than Han. Your character has been gone for a couple of movies and in fact has one of the most tremendous most unpredictable. Arc's I feel like in movie history in that you know Tokyo drift. Which was the third movie in. The fast and furious franchise is the one that you originated this character. And we'd love to hear from you. What has your relationship with Han. Been like over these years. It's a love hate relationship. The hate is a strong word for it. I think it's maybe love and difficult is what it is because I'll never dismiss what the fast and furious and with the Han characters done for my career and my family and opened the Hollywood doors the first time I you know Justin and I worked on festive fears like we would just literally walk around the production office and then go into his office and start like laughing. Because can all these chairs the free snapple into the free water right those little things that we really appreciate it. Because when we're shooting tomorrow we had nothing we had a fold out table with five sticks of. Wrigley's spearmint gum spread out and a box of cold intimate donuts breakfast. That was our craft service and better luck tomorrow. Of course was the two thousand two indie film about over achieving Asian American teens who flipped the Model Minority Myth on its head when they start doing crimes so better luck. Tomorrow was Justin. Lin's first solo feature recode to feature call shopping things with Quinton leave and there were still students at Ucla. And then I heard that this young filmmaker out of UCLA was making an Asian American film. But I had already worked on a couple of Asian of American films that never finished and it was kind of a fiasco and felt like yeah. It's great to be part of this movement but we're not going to be able to compete with because you can't even finish the movie and when I came back to La. I was so disenchanted anytime I heard about another Asian American filmmaker instantly said this is probably not a good idea. That was already probably a few like maybe five six years in right. I mean I've been already a journeyman into business. You know and the auditions that I would get are the roles that would be a waiter or Yakuza and I felt like maybe the timing was rights. And this idea of being an actor in Hollywood is not GonNa Happen. Right and then I got a couple of phone calls from some aspiring producer. Asian American producers. And they said Hey. There's this guy named Justin Lin. He's a ucla and he's doing this. Asian American film. You should take a look at the script and you should like audition for it now and then two more friends call and say hey. You should really take a look at the script so Justin I actually met at. Danny's on Wilshire and western Koreatown. We met to talk about the script right and talk about the role and stuff like that and at that time. I think Hon- was written as a Filipino character. That drove a hundred civic here like a shaved head. Wow he was really perpetuating kind of like this. You know southern Kelly J. JD M. car culture kind of thug. And I'm from Georgia so I don't identify with I'm into muscle and you know my role models were like James Dean. Paul Newman John Wayne. If you will right and so this thing did not resonate so when I sat down with just and I said Hey I can I addition for Ben. The main character for best. I better tomorrow and just in being the the the patient older brother if you will and he would make a great poker player because slow played it and he's like why not. Let's see so. I went at like three times to read for Ban and knowing the whole time. I'm way too old looking. I don't fit the VIBE and I said to myself if this dude cast me it's movies gonNA suck and compromise vision. So after the third edition called me and said. Hey Man it's not gonNa work out but I would still love free to play on. I was like this is a guy that I would go to paddle with one last shot. Because if it doesn't work out I probably have to go and find a real job and it was so challenging because we had the whole budget in place but then the investors had asked Justin to change all the rules to Caucasian and Justin being. Who is now not GONNA do it? And he started putting the equipment on his credit card but as soon as the credit card companies. No you're maxing it out. They basically linked to the other companies. And then they'll hold your credit card so we're screwed and then I had worked at this restaurant in Beverley hills this cream barbecue place called Hula okay. That is no longer and we shot for a day and then justice said the money's not coming in so we probably have to shut this down and I went to work and I was so depressed right and I'm a server. They're left of a smile. I was so bummed and this is where I feel like everything happens for a reason. Like I don't necessarily subscribe to all these myths and stuff as some Guardian Angel but if if there is such thing that night she showed up and by that you mean John Wong and her husband. Jeffrey go founders of the Cherry Sky Films Production Company. They had been coming into the restaurant for a couple years and there was the first time they saw me not smiling and that kind of goofing off and she said what's wrong way so sadness explain the situation and she said can. I take a look at the script as I have in my car. She goes Why don't you in the director come by the office? Like the talk we went in there spoke for about an hour and then she wrote us a fifty thousand dollar check. Wow there's something like so mythic about this whole story but isn't that the keep a fifty thousand not enough to finish this movie right and so then we're stock and just kind of freaking out and the only person he knows that really has money. Is this guy named Mc Hammer right and how does he know MC Hammer so justin used to work at the Japanese? American museum is to be editor for the downtown Japanese-american Museum and so he was in plans of shooting tomorrow. And at that time the cannon xl one three chip consumer camera was coming out. And if you guys are aware if your techies like big deal so that was the first option of going digital post to film and suggests that went down. I think there was a convention down there to look at the new cameras coming out and Hera was there so hammer's standing next to a kid. You know anything about this camera. And he kind of helps them out and he goes. So what do you WanNa do this well? One day I hope to be a director. They Kinda you know. Talk a little bit and hammered being who is gave him his phone number and said hey you ever need anything. Give call so fast forward. The money's not happening just freaking out the credit cards frozen. I think he had the the phone number like pin to his wall. For you know for Sake right is that what the hell he calls. Hammer Hammer picks up. What's up is okay. Do you remember me Zig. Know what do you want? Here's the situation he goes. Hey it's not hammer time anymore. I can't just be funding these things. But here's ten grand. Do what you gotta do but you know I don't I don't need it back but here it is so if you go and watch. Tokyo drift anytime. There's a Tokyo City. Scene is hammer
