A highlight from Jordan Peterson: Scrap the Banks, Adopt Bitcoin | EP 825

"It's all going to zero against Bitcoin, it's going up for everyone, you're against Bitcoin, you're against freedom. Yo, welcome to Simply Bitcoin Live, we're your number one source for the peaceful Bitcoin revolution, we will be your guide through the separation of money and state. Crazy news, Jordan Peterson, one of the most influential people on planet earth in terms of media, basically said the quiet part out loud, he said, scrap banks, adopt Bitcoin. And the crazy part about this, right, is what you hear from a lot of the political rhetoric, right, what you hear from a lot of the people that correctly identify the problems, like Xavier Millie is a great example of this, right, he's correctly identified the issue, the issue is central banking, the issue is the state, right? But you if correctly identify the issue without providing a solution, you're not really going anywhere, like the whole end the Fed movement, shout out Ron Paul, because I think he really, really started that in the United States, like, that's great, right? But what it and the Fed, and then what, and the Fed and then Bitcoin. So when someone who has that much influence outside of the Bitcoin echo chamber is not only saying scrap banks, but is actually presenting the solution to his mainstream audience that is not, that is not inside the Bitcoin echo chamber, that is a really, really big deal. So we're going to get into that, he has a massive following not only on YouTube, also on Twitter, I know a lot of people don't agree with his politics. And you know, and I respect that. And I understand that. But what I ask you is to zoom out, it's not his, his politics are irrelevant to this cause to what we're trying to achieve here. And what we're ultimately trying to achieve is a separation of money and state peacefully, people waking up realizing that no one should have the ability to create money for free that someone else has to work for. And they opt out into not only a, not only a currency that is not inflationary, but is actually deflationary, your purchasing power increases over time. So that's why this is a big deal. That's why it's a big deal when people like Jordan Peterson, people like Joe Rogan, people like Tucker Carlson, when they taught Tim Pool the other day, it's very, very important that those individuals that have massive followings, independent followings outside of the legacy corporate media talk about Bitcoin, because that is when the mainstream starts to start starts to ask questions. And I'm very, very glad that Jordan Peterson not only correctly identified the problem, but also said, okay, the solution is Bitcoin. Now this was a, this is a major effort by the Bitcoin community, right? There was a podcast that he did with Robert Breedlove, Gigi. I think he did one with Safedean also that all contributed to him coming to that conclusion that Bitcoin was the answer, just like how Max Kaiser went on Tucker Carlson, just how Michael Saylor went on Tucker Carlson, just how Marty Bette went on Tucker Carlson. Bitcoiners breaking out of the Bitcoin echo chamber, getting into the ears of huge, massively popular mainstream independent content creators so that they can tell their audience, guys, it's not left or right. It's not, it's not all this stuff that you guys are getting caught distracted with. The issue is the money. You fix the money, you fix the world. That's why I'm so hyped about today's episode. Anyways, I want to bring up my legendary cohost. He's getting more professional by the minute. He's wearing polos now. Are we just, are we just, are we just poloing it up bro from, from now on? Is that what we're doing? Yo, Anders was trolling me that I, that I allegedly am going to be wearing a suit in LA. I don't have a suit, so maybe I'll have to buy a suit so that I can be more professional. No, it was literally, it just got washed. It was on my computer chair and I'm like, all right, I'm wearing a polo today. It is what it is. It is what it is. But you're wearing a lot more polos as of late, bro. I have two polos and it's like I put on a button shirt and everyone's like, Oh, you're so professional. It's like, guys, I'm just not wearing a hoodie and a t -shirt, but Hey, I don't know. I will do a poll. Do people want me to wear polos anymore? I, whatever, whatever. Anyway, this is not about my fashion decisions. Okay. Um, yeah, man, Nico, crazy stuff. I can't wait to break down this whole new story today, but we'll save that for later. On that note, we do have a guest today. Shouts out to Stefan, a Bitcoiner, and we're really going to dive in on the connections between health and Bitcoin and why you guys need to get healthy out there. It's super important. Anyway, Stefan, how are you doing today? I'm great, guys. Thanks for having me on. Thanks for joining us on Simply.

Veteran Uses Platform to Bring Hope

"Listen, Chad, there's so much that I'd like to talk to you about. First off, let me say this. Thank you for what you're doing for vets. And when I talk about what you're doing for Bette, people might not know this, you've been extremely transparent. And vulnerable when it comes to your own stories of PTSD, the mighty oaks foundation, if you would just talk about that briefly here because you help out veterans with a biblical perspective that have gone through PTSD, dark times, talk about the mighty oaks foundation if you would. Yeah, well, you know, it started with me. I came home from 8 deployment to Afghanistan as part of a joint special operations command task force. Had my own hardships coming home, dealt with anxiety, depression, severe panic attacks, and diagnosed with PTSD. I had a three year downward spiral that ended in me almost losing my family. And a very real suicide attempt where resulted in people coming around me, helping me to get well and of all the things that people did for me to get well was nothing was probably more profound than a restoration of my faith in the other side of that. I just felt a deep burden of my heart that I really believed God put there for me to help others. And I used the platforms that had been given through a really good reputation to special operations community, being a professional athlete, using those two platforms to broadcast the message of hope to other people struggling just like I was. And that is stored at 12 years ago with the founding of the mighty oaks foundation over the last 12 years. We really do four things. One is we do resiliency programs of active duty military. Based around the world, I've been able to personally speak to about a half million active duty troops throughout the program. Even as much as going to Marine Corps boot camp, every quarter now for the last 8 years, I've been in the Marine Corps boot camp and speaking to recruits on the four pillars of resiliency on spiritual agency and just being the warriors that our country needs them to be. And this world needs them to be.

"Yeah, and there's been a lot of good spin off to Shaun of the dead that we did. I mean, so there's been a lot of movies that came out of it reanimator. So there's been a lot of good zombie movies that have come from it. 28 weeks later. 28 weeks later, which was great zombie movies. Great. I was actually scared to death sometimes. Oh my God, 28 days later, 28 weeks later is the sequel. Oh my God. But still, a gray zombie movie. And then you have like World War Z and I don't know, there's literally a billion movies. Tons of stuff. And then there's the shows. So many shows, yeah. Phenomenal. It's one of the highest grossing shows in history. And then they even have like fear of The Walking Dead, the talking dead. I don't know. Talk about a phenomenon. Dead dead. They made a lot of money off these movies. I mean, zombies. Zombies are a big thing, just like vampires are a big thing. We're going to be doing blade because they're it's coming out. And we should be doing hellraiser too because the new one drops on Friday. Oh, that'd be awesome. I picked two. She's picking two because we got four, four, four. We got four. Yeah, so she's going to pick two and I'm picking two. I picked this and I picked Abbott Costello. She's picking. I don't know. The pressure on the spot. I definitely want to say hellraiser. Great movie, 'cause I love it. The original spin off thing? The sequel, yeah, no, we're not going to talk about the second, third ones, but the first one, and this new one. Okay, I'm gonna say it because I obviously haven't seen it yet. The new priest, the new pinhead. Doesn't look very wet. And Clive Barker has wet creatures. And this one looks really dry. This is my main critique going into it. Jeff off vibes and trailers alone. I'm still very excited for it. But there's something there's something wet and grotesque about the initial creature about the initial gods and I'm not getting it in this one. Yeah, my experience was what Clive Barker actually I read his books first, the books of blood. That's where hellraiser came from is a short story in that. There was three of them. And I love them. And then there's another one. He has a movie out. It's rawhead Rex. That's another good Clive Barker movie that's really nice. He has another one too, doesn't he? I think so. He's like very prolific. Yeah. And his stuff is really great. I want to say he did something about a circus. And they made a show out of it, I think. I think it was HBO. Not a 100% positive. But Clyde bock is a great author. If you get the chance to read him, I mean, he's got some seriously twisted stuff. I mean, I don't believe he has any zombie stuff. I don't think he does. Unless he has a short story, but I don't think so. I mean, so for Stephen King, that's kind of zombie ish. Kinda. But yeah, so a lot of stuff did come off the zombie movies. And they still make them today and this shows are still coming out today. So I don't know if you've watched the original night of living dead. It is black and white, but if you watch it, you're going to definitely definitely like it because even though it's black and white, you can't tell. You're so focused and wrapped up in the character. And here's the thing. I don't get the critique of people saying you don't like a black and white movie. Okay, you're boring. Just because it's black and white doesn't take away any value. It was just made in a time where there weren't producing color film or color film was expensive to produce. I think that it's black and white is fine. I think it's still in enough of, I think the material is still engaging enough and still timely that that is such an afterthought. It's still so good. If you watch it on HBO Max, it's the criterion collection version. So it's the one that was restored by the MoMA. Incredibly well done in great quality. I would highly recommend I highly recommend it. I think it's a great phone. I do too. I do too. And I think as far as the black and white thing goes, a lot of newer movies, some of them actually coming out in black and white. Exactly. No, that was just very gray. But okay, but here's a perfect example. The shape of water, when that came out. Guillermo del Toro wanted to film the whole movie in black and white. But the budget would have been like double or something. So he did it in color and just had the one seen in black and white. But I think that's so crazy that this is what people could do then and now people want to do it and it's expensive. So that's digital media though. I have no problem with black and white movie. Okay, all old movies are fun and old and some people look at practical effects now and call it camp, but it's like practical effects still hold up. I'm so sorry, we won't get back into the practical versus CGI debate because I always find a way to launch into it. Oh, Adam wants to come back, he said. Oh yes, Adam come back. Come back. We have people that want to come on. And we want you to come on because it's fun. We have such a good time. It's just such a fun time. It's so fun. I know this movie, there weren't as many laughs in this one. Because it's a little bit more of a serious topic. But still holy, holy fun, holy good. Yeah. Yep, yep. As always, I have a good time. Do you want to add anything before we go? Stay spooky, my Friends. Watch all the scary movies you can. I heard hocus pocus two was trash. No, it was actually, I went into it thinking it was going to be trash. And I will say that Bette Midler and them did a phenom. They were incredible. Okay, great job. Good acting can only carry a movie so far. And the movie wasn't all that, but it wasn't terrible. It was like, it was okay. Yeah. Okay. Well, you actually saw, I did not. Yeah. If you go into it thinking that it's going to be some phenomenal thing, you would highly let down. But if you go into it thinking, it's hocus pocus, what are they going to do with it? And then if you look at it like that, you kind of like, all right, it was the Sanderson this carry the movie. Okay. Well, that's good. I do like them. I do. Okay. We'll see. The original's just so good. Yes. The original was phenomenal. You can't top the original. And this one didn't in any way shape or form. And it wasn't spectacular. I mean, I wasn't blown away with it. The Sanderson sisters, those three are so good together the chemistry together is phenomenal. And they carried that movie. Well, I feel like Bette Midler could have chemistry with a legit lamp. So she's so good. Yeah, her divine madness show if we get a chance to watch it. That's one of my favorite oh, I will. Yeah, it's defined madness. And when she does the chapel of love, she comes out, she's wearing a big bell. Listen, before there was Gaga before there was all the Bette Midler did her thing. I mean, she was like the queen of oddities. I love it. I love Bette Midler. Okay, well, this has been so fun. Halloween spooky season, scary movies. If you guys have a favorite scary movie, right end. Tell us what it is. Maybe we'll do a bonus of it because we know what we like. We want to know what you like. And I think that would be fun. Send us a DM on Twitter or Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, anywhere we're open, we want to listen to what you guys have to say. So let us know. Oh, a 100%. And if you get a chance, go into Salem, if you're in this Massachusetts area. Oh my God. You got to go into Salem for Halloween. It's an incredible experience. It's also a traffic experience. Do not do not think you're not going to pay for parking because you are. Oh my God. No way to get around it. But once you're there and it's just so much fun. If you can, my friend, Nicky DeMarcus, has a store up there called man bat. He does man bat art. It's paintings with people in tuxedos, but they have the bat's heads. That's cool. He's done very well. He's actually met the original creature from the black lagoon. That's actually sick. He met the original Boba Fett. That's cool. He's really into the gothic scene. He's done so much. He's elvira. He's like my hero. Nikki, love you kid. Shout out Nikki. Nikki. Also shout out to Salem, go there. Just give yourself like three hours to get in park. Yeah. No lie. And then for watching that, you're going to have a great time. House of 7 gables. Salem willows, which museum. Is this so much to do? You're going to have a good time. It's a good time. It's a good time. New England is the best for fall. So yeah, just stay spooky guys. We'll see you next week. All right.

"Yeah. It is Friday. And daily pop is here and I can't believe I am. Today on this show, Harry and Meghan are disappointed with the palace yet again. Plus Beyoncé drops a bold message to fans and Heidi Klum's unique talent will shock you. Say hello to American icon Judy. And gay icon. Jay Rodriguez. And I am no icon. Please. One of these days. What listen? You're making it happen. But I have to tell you, I was saying, before we went live, that you're quite the icon in my DMs. Every time I'm here, they're like, did you get to meet Justin? The men are really after you. Via my DMs, which is hurtful, but they don't come after me. They don't come after me. If you like Justin. Go ahead and let him know, slide into the DMs. Say I sent you. We are we are encouraging it. It is a holiday weekend and Justin needs to get some holidays. Personal fireworks. Exactly. And then ended with monkeypox. He thought Harry and Meghan's beef with the royal family was simmering down, honey, someone relit the grill and it was not George Foreman. So, you know, this is how it's all been going. There was an investigation. Into if Megan was a bully to her staff. Well, the investigation is over and the palace has decided to keep the findings top secret. And that is not sitting well with Harry and his wife. A source close to the couple tells E. News exclusively that the couple is disappointed that the results will not be shared. Yeah. Why would the palace keep this privilege? Because they because they shady. And on behalf of Lonnie love and the entire love clan who are indirectly related to the queen, I would like to say this is shady. She didn't do nothing, and I have to say that I have that I'm from information because I'm sure I'm just chatting Lonnie. She's innocent and they don't want anyone to be on her good graces because Megan has been dragged through the mud and it's very rare that they actually support her from the palace. Not a thing. All right, now I'm done being Lonnie. That's what I mean, that's what I think. I think I just feel like the palace if they would, if it was found out that Megan had been being a bully to the staff. I feel like any opportunity that they could get to be like, look, look, look, look, but it wasn't just us. They would have put it out there. Or, oh. The queen's jubilee happened, they met lily Bette, the family had a great time. There was a bridge being made. It's being built, they can see the out of mind of it. And they don't want to release it because they don't want to break up with them right now. But I call something else. However, it is still shady and still a manipulation to say we did this. We have the results, but we're going to hold it over your head for a while and not tell you what it is. So maybe that word is good, disappointed. Like what's the point that you didn't shed the truth? I'm glad we're back together as a family. I'm going to try to ruffle that. You're feathers or get you in more trouble, but can you just get us out of some of the trouble you put us in to begin with with this fake rumor? I just feel like what's the point? Like if you're going to do the control. Yeah. It's called control. I think a lot of times people, if you work at a big corporation, not this one. This one's cute. But a lot of times they will open an investigation on you or say that something has happened and not close the other end of it. Well, to keep you on your toes and keep you in line. I've definitely seen that happen. And it happens. It happens. You look at, let's say you have an actress who's maybe late once or twice or three times to a set. And then all of a sudden you'll get a blurb in a People magazine on a blog that that person is being unruly. Right. A lot of the times that's coming from inside the house. Just to get you. Inside the house. Yes. It's always coming from inside the house. Right, right, right. So I understand it, but I would be disappointed. Yeah. As well. Yeah, for sure. Well, speaking of disappointments, this one is not because Beyoncé isn't just breaking your soul, signing. She's breaking the Internet with this new photo. Yesterday, be posted the cover of her upcoming renaissance album. She spoke about creed in the album saying it allowed me to put a place to find escape during a scary time for the world. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle and to feel as unique, strong and sexy as you are. Here's my question. Yeah. I do this show, I know people enjoy it. I know people get an escape from it. But when I go home, I can't truly watch this back and enjoy. Because I'm onto the next. And you just put a lot of heart and soul into this. And we have to move past the same thing. I wonder if Beyoncé gets as much enjoyment out of this. For all music, all music. Oh, I'm dying to know that about a lot of artists. Like, do you list can you enjoy your own bop? Can you? I mean, I don't know. I mean, I'm not going to ask you all the time. Have you watched it? I hate watching myself. I hate watching myself. Because every time I do, like, I'll watch it. I'll watch dailies if when I'm doing a movie or something, just to make sure I don't look weird or that something's not going terribly wrong. But most of the time, I'll watch myself and I'll be like, oh, what is that face? Why did you do that? You should, wow, you picked the wrong career for your.

"I'm going to say raptors in 6. All right. I'm going to go in 76ers and 7. I think we get a 7 game series out of this one and I do think the sixers I just think hardening and beat are too good. In the end and I think the raptors maybe a year early. I think they're really good, but I think this might be one year earlier than they expected to be at this level. So yeah, so we were both thinking a good lesson. I think you're probably correct. And that is most likely what's going to happen. I'm just thinking with what would be the most fun would be the raptors going after this 76 years and being able to exploit them in certain ways and things like that. But again, Toronto, go ahead. Always lose this game once. That's true. Does that only count when they're at home? Is that only a home thing? I don't know how that works. Raptors fans weigh in, let us know. Is that only one Toronto is at home that they lose game ones or is that always the thing? Because otherwise Bette Philly heavy in game one is Toronto's history is not been great. In game ones, but yeah. All right. All right, let's go, let's flip it. Let's go all the way to the other side of the country. Golden State. All right. So going into this, the warriors are a 5 point favorite in terms of what I'm talking game one. In terms of running that game, I should have mentioned that on the raptors that won the 76ers were a four and a half point favorite for game one, the warriors are a 5 point favorite here for game one. I mean, to me this all this all hinges on Steph Curry and is he if he's not healthy, then I think the nuggets are gonna win this. If Steph Curry is healthy, I think Golden State walks away. I mean, I know we can get we're gonna get further in depth into our analysis and everything, but is it really just that simple is whether or not stuff curry plays determines the winner? I think there's a real chance. I think it is if we had.

"Finds a special kind of fun and trolling Trump and trolling all these right wing like I mean he puts out what he knows Trump is gonna get pissed off about. Right. This is awesome, which is ironic considering that Trump usually only likes people who put out. Yeah, you know, the things that the things that really get them are when we get Mira Lago video. You know, yeah. Yeah, I mean, we follow a ton of people who are members of Mar-a-Lago. And it's a miserable thing to do. I mean, we get all of it. But I mean, every once in a while, we'll get that nugget of, you know, some 65 year old rich lady who's filming inside Mar-a-Lago and they'll catch something good that we can use. Right, right. And first of all, in the immortal words of Bette Davis, regarding Mar-a-Lago, what a dump. It's sort of like an old Vegas casino look, you know? Yeah. Right. Well, it's a lot of empty rooms like he's never short of giant empty ballrooms to do interviews in. You've seen like the one he just did with Candace Owens. The one he just did with the flashpoint dude, like he's always in these like empty staging rooms, whatever the fuck they are. They look like the inside of a birthday cake. And they're always empty. And there's no like, oh, we're just cleaning up after an event. They're just empty and have been empty and stamped. The other thing is, is the dude. I don't know why people don't recognize this more. But the dude lives in the attic of one of his golf clubs. You know what I mean? It's not like he has this giant house Mar-a-Lago and everybody comes there to golf like some sort of aging robber baron. He lives on sight. He sleeping in his office, basically. You know, the other thing we do is we follow his golf buddies. So when we know he's going to go have a golf outing, we'll plug into the guy sees playing golf with, right? And they'll oftentimes film him when he doesn't even know it. And filming his swing. So we'll post that stuff, you know, showing him an unflattering light on the golf course because again, that's something that sets him off..

"I was pretty excited when I learned that doctor Steve not lay could come into the studio why you're saying why Eric because he's an archeologist. He's a distinguished Professor of New Testament and Christian origins at niac college and he is at the center of a very, very, very exciting New Testament dig, doctor Steve, Natalie welcome. Thank you for having me here. You can tell I'm bursting with country fresh flavor over this issue. I just can't. Where do we start? Just tell my audience, the nutshell version of what you are privileged to be working on right now. I like to describe the site as the last lost city of the gospels. Most people don't realize they go to Israel, they visit there. They get off the bus. There's a sign, telling them their accessory, or mojito. They don't realize that almost all of these biblical sites got lost. They were destroyed, abandoned, forgotten. And we've been in a process for the last 150 years of rediscovery. Okay, so when you say got lost, you're saying over 2000 years, we lost track. So in the last 200 years, roughly, we have been finding the places we've read about. We've been showing that they exist that they're true. But you're telling me that the one that you're working on now is the last one. This is the one that we did not know where it was until recently. Exactly. There was an alternate site suggested about a mile and a half from where we are. They've been digging there since 1987. But it had problems. And there were a lot of hesitations people weren't willing to sign off on it being Bette, which is an important site. Apart from capernaum and the Galilee, it's the second most mentioned site in the

"And I think it becomes more important after they get hanged, like back in the 1700s. Or was it 1600s? 1600s. Because when they come back, they only have until the candle goes down to live. One night. They have one night with the candle until done. And if the chemicals out there out of life. So they needed the life of the children to keep going after them. So originally, it was selfishness. They were all old when we first saw them, and then they sucked life out of. Well, they had like old ish terrible makeup on. And then they wiped it off. Sarah Jessica Parker actually did legitimately look terrifying. But yeah, well, I think that was the biggest contrast. Was Sarah Jessica Parker's character because they made her so because they were just Parker at the time was so young, and such a huge drastic difference. Yeah. So they come back. They want to they want to consume all the children. But it's interesting because how many child souls do they actually need? They're like, oh, they want all the kids in Salem. Yeah. All the children in the same room. That feels so much like a we just need to make our villains really, really evil, right? 1 million. They also definitely the thing where your villain has to reveal their plot or whatever, and then you can thwart them. Well, it's a kids movie, you know? You gotta keep it digestible. It's a kids movie that starts out with a young girl kid killed. But she doesn't kill one. Girl gets killed. So she does, yeah. But I found it interesting because she does not move at all. She does not do anything in her own defense. She just she's not even tied up. Yeah. Well, she's under a spell. Oh, that is fair. Does that makes me feel better? Because at first I was like, wow, maybe do something. Also, it's really funny because when we first come in on the movie, and the witches are gonna suck the soul out of this little girl. Her brother is there thackeray beans, and he is up in the rafters and he has all this time while they're like they're talking and they're making this potion and they're getting some character development, I guess, from the we're getting some exposition about the characters and figuring out who they are because, you know, Bette Midler is the smart one. She's winning winifred. Right. She's the one in charge. Yes. And then we have the super dotty, but attractive, Sarah Jessica Parker. A little childish. Yeah. Very childish. What I want to get to in a minute. And then we have Mary who is comedic relief. In a tree. She's the more caring, I think she's the most caring which, but she's also just a little bit out of it. She doesn't really know what's going on. And it's interesting because clearly these women have been alive for a long time already at this point to have these very weirdly immature personalities..

You know, Eddie abortions a sacrament for them. I It's a death cult. Really? I mean, celebrating the deaths of conservatives who don't toe the company line and dare to ask questions about covid the culture of death in the room. The left has become a death cult, literal death cult. They they seem to worship death. It's the most bizarre. I don't understand what think about it. It is a political movement, Jim, I'm not crazy. You need votes. Well, you know what they're Democrats, so the dead technically can vote. I mean, they are Dems. But usually you want a higher percentage of live voters and dead voters, right, Jim? It works better that way. They're usually usually that's right. Yeah, so you need at least some. Why voters once and you don't want the polls empty all day. Big Look, it was a landslide. Right? So it's weird that there's such a death cult, and they're so eager to kill off voters like it's just the most bizarre they so, Texas says, Listen, if this child has a heartbeat, we probably shouldn't terminate its life in the room, and Democrats are losing their minds, including Bette Midler. That Midler's threatened to go on some kind of a some kind of a sex strike, apparently, which is which is great. I mean, Jim talk about, you know, uh, double whammy. You know Bette Midler there, but also preaching abstinence, which is just great like I never thought we get liberals preaching abstinence, So that's actually pretty good thing. We've had a nice positive development, but the best take of the night with Sean Duffy on Fox. She tweeted quote, I suggest that all women refused to have sex with men until they are guaranteed. The right to choose by Congress. What makes you say? You know, I wonder if you're incorporating the band here? We're so far apart. The ban is not, But I would say that you know, the last lefty pregnancies means the left the less lefty kids right? Which might be good for conservatives that have a lot of kids that are conservative right out, producing left Democrats anyway. And the Children front, right? Absolutely. But I also think that if the strike only applies to That Midler. I don't There's any man in Texas are going to disagree with his band. They're like, Of course, we'll take that band every day of the week. No one's lining up for BET. Mhm..

"You are my hero, Bette Midler. This is a great idea. I I endorse this. I think I can. I just say 100% agree with Bette Midler, Bette and all of her friends who are radical. Angry of obnoxious and hateful pro abortion. Women who I think they should stop having sex 100%, at least with men. They should stop having sex with men. I mean, what What else do they do is up to them? Because this means then they won't stop having babies. They will stop procreating. They will stop bringing in a new generation raised by women like that. I'm okay with this. Are you allowed to actually comment up as president of Independent Women's Forum because I can own this myself? Exactly. No, you're right. There is something. It's funny because political allegiances very sticky. It follows from parent to child. So you're right that if there's fewer liberals procreating that that means there's gonna be more conservatives out here as a majority of the population and I think that the only thing they should do they should absolutely take on bet Midler's idea. Bette Midler. Thank you for being a leader in this area, And I want you to pass this on, folks. I mean, a lot of people are calling for Diane Sawyer to apologize for her. Um Interview that she did with Britney when she was just 20 years old. That really I mean, quite predatory. Yeah. Don't you kind of just want to go back and watch a lot of Diane Sawyer's interviews from that time are because other people on the twitters have because, you know, I don't know if you know this. There's not a lot for people to do these days and so There's time for them to dig deep into this stuff in somebody else's posted an interview that she did with Whitney Houston. And you know Diane Sawyer being in a male dominated field for a long time when women were objectified and seen a soft constantly in that field, And so what was Diane Sawyer trying to achieve For herself. I mean, it's a complex issue it is and it Z. I said this earlier. It's not that we need to pick on Diane Sawyer. Specifically, it is an example. Right. I also brought up an example about Bette Midler said some really uncomfortable thing while she called Britney a slut, So let's just put it that way. Okay. You know you can pick out individual examples, but to your point This was a culture and I guarantee we're all complicit in this because we all Were glued to those interviews. When they said those things and a lot of us why shouldn't throw all of you into this mix, But I can say for myself, I'm sure that I judged Maybe not in this case, but I have judged people watching interviews like that before. So remember the delight that people saw in like the Britney vs Christina Aguilera narrative without thinking that these were too Young girls that this was happening to You know, now that kind of stuff is just it's inappropriate. I like ended this morning to the shift in the viewpoint of Monica Lewinsky, right, Sure that I mean, that's the number one. "So Bette Midler yesterday or the day before tweeted hashtag free Britney and like a lot of celebrities are doing right now They're all rushing forward to be like free, but the because it's the cool thing to do. It's like everybody watching That documentary is like the saint, right? Something's wrong. Help this woman, right? Well, celebrities want to be on the right side of history. Right, Right. Well Because it looks good on them. We just You know, everybody's going after Diane Sawyer cause she asked was uncomfortable questions. Can we listen to this? But member E mean I know those two ladies don't really give a damn what I say, but I think it's irresponsible in a way. That meddler who used to push a few envelopes herself. It's kind of tacky in a way because to say that I'm not responsible for the fact that there's you know, 11 year old 10 11 year old watching this shop. So there's it seriously Think of the Children. So there Bette Bette Midler of all People, Bathhouse Bette is eyes slut Shaming Britney Spears. Madonna. There is an interview because I looked this up. Somebody else had pointed this out that at one point she calls Britney a wild and wooly slut. At the time, but now she wants to hash tag free. Britney and this again. I don't want to make this all about met Midler. Just like I don't want to make it all about Diane Sawyer. Other than to say to those celebrities, you guys, you are a part of this system. You can't like like you have actual power in this system, like don't just like, show up to Twitter and do the cool thing. Like maybe maybe take a look at why the system like treated Brittney the way that it did in this documentary you were watching. You were part of that. Diane Sawyer slash Bette Midler. This is a part of the conversation. I think like, Well, can we can continue to have as we go forward because I think you're going to see a lot of these people sort of like rewriting history show up like now I have always thought this was work. Did you think so? With the term right? Because right now it's in fashion, and at that time it was in fashion. And to be a different way. When we return on the Colleen and Bradley show, Elizabeth Reese is bringing us all the dirt straight from Hollywood. It's a dirt alert on my talk one of 71 another lorry and Julia moment and shows was flat shoes as now, Peter over, Okay, e think she's got real through this right now. Why Carrie Snodgress Didn't Get An Oscar

"In 1970, she was up against Glenda Jackson, ally McGraw, Sarah Miles and Jane Alexander for best actress and she lost to Glenda Jackson. But it's only because she wouldn't go to the Oscars because Neil Young wouldn't let her go. Had she gone, she would have won. And who knows where her career would have taken her? Even with that, she's still not ended up doing some great work and some good films, opposite James Caan and rabbit run, Clint Eastwood and pale rider, fury with Charles Bronson, the addict with ray Milan. I mean, she did she did a work. She also had the part of Adrian and rocky. She beat out Cher, Bette Midler and Susan Sarandon. Well, they said Susan's around them was too sexy. But one her agent, when Carrie's agent asked for too much money, they said, no, and then Stallone hired tallia. She had no idea he was going to do that and she felt like shit.

"Race, Curly. She's working for you. I'm like Bette Midler before the boy's gonna keep troops entertained. Welcome back to the grace. Curly Show everyone earlier in this hour. Was it last hour time flies. We had Brandon Mission on and he was the father who got up at a you know, School council meeting and he kind of laid into all of the bureaucrats sitting at the podiums who aren't opening schools. And actually, the woman who gave me his contact just sent me another video from that same meeting of a different father. Speaking out on behalf of his kids, and I don't know what's going on in that little part of the country. But those people know what they're doing, and they're not afraid to speak up, and it's so refreshing. So I think right now people are so frustrated, but nobody wants to say anything and be labeled, you know. Trump supporter. I was going to see a racist and then I thought, what's worse than a racist, a Trump supporter. Today's poll question is brought to you by the phones being do what I did Enjoy this beautiful and it's the best ever. You guys haven't check it out. I will be there in February, so make sure you get you get to that website. You can get yourself a special rate to reserve your room. Go to Follansbee in dot com. We're gonna have so much fun. I cannot wait. Jared. What is the poll question And what are the results thus far Should planes allow emotional support Animal The reason I chose. This is that Southwest has banned emotional support animals from their flights. I'm going to say no, they should not. 87% say no, They should not. That's rough, Sam. You're next. Grace on thee, Grace, Curly show. Go ahead, Sam. Great. How are you? First I want to say welcome to the airwaves and loved the show. Thank you. Um, you know the thought about it, and I've heard from different points of views with regards to the impeachment. I don't think it's such a bad thing because Has been such evidence. More evidence of the fraud that's occurred has been building up every day and with the impeachment trump is allowed. To defend himself, and he'll be able to state Maura and a factual basis, But you got to events that happen during the election. And if mass media mainstream media is only covering part of it, and and not what Trump has to say, it'll even be show more of the hypocrisy and wake open up more eyes. Yeah, no, Sam. I think you make a great point there, and I don't necessarily. I think it's foolish on the part of the Democrats. I think it shows how willing there to waste our time and our taxpayer dollars, But I don't think it's necessarily bad for the Republicans. I'm not scared going into it. You know what they had done this three months ago or four months ago? When did they do it? They actually did do it a few months ago, but I mean Trump's out. Trump's no longer the president, so they're not taking that away from him. He had his term as the president. I kind of feel like that's what this is all about. Is that people who predicted he was going to resign or that he was, the walls were closing in their mad. He finished out his term and put them all to shame. But I agree with you, Sam. I don't think it's necessarily gonna be A bad thing for Republicans and a lot of people like Rand Paul Rand, Paul said today he would get up and defend Trump. So a lot of smart Republicans with good points to make are going to be able to say their piece, which could be good. David, You're next with grace on thee, Grace, curly show. Go ahead, David. Hey, Grace. First of all, I'll echo what that last caller said Great show, did you very much You're welcome. Listen, you mentioned Carrie. Not not that long ago I live. I live here on the cape. I worked at both the airports and high Ennis and Nantucket, and I just got to tell you our new what climate czar is that it's like official title is probably like logged more hours than Al Gore in the jet stream. He's another one's gonna You've got a jet around the world, reminding people to mind their carbon footprints, right? But But I got to take this one little thing is just so telling, you know, I don't know if it was his dad because his name we know he's a kept man. But the underside of this jet. The rumor was that It was painted to match the catch up. Okay. Oh, God. And it probably cost more than anyone listening Right now. We'll make in a lifetime, you know, And that's the type of individual and worth every Penny David That's what they should ask by an idea. Jen Psaki of the first press conference, they asked, you know Well, will he change the colors of Air Force one? Will they behinds? Ketchup Red? That might have been a good question. David that's Assuras refugees. That's an unbelievable story. We don't have to Google that and try to find some more information. I remember his biggest story when I was younger, and I would listen to how we the story that always caught my eye was that he Built a boat, I think in Rhode Island, or he kept a boat in Rhode Island to try to not pay the taxes and certain stories I remember would drive my mom crazy because she's been paying Massachusetts taxes are all life. And that one drove her insane. I remember driving around with her. She was about to rip her hair out yet. Thanks for the call. Tony. Really quick. You're next with Grace. What's up, Tony? Yeah. Hi, Grace. I'm calling from Canada. Montreal. From Trump's trump admire. Oh, I'd like to see three things. I'm very I'm very upset with the with the Republican Party for not backing Trump up. I'd like to. I'd like to suggest three things. One I'd like I'd like Like for a Fox to show more and more of Pelosi when she rips up Yes, the paper.

Top 5 Moviegoing Experiences

"From Chicago. This is film Spotting Josh. Larsen and I met HIM DR. Get stuck on a movie line with a guy like this behind you a free country. You have to give it so loud to shame to pontificate like that. And and the funny part of it is. You don't know anything about McLuhan. We miss the movies so much. We even miss the Marshall McLuhan pontificators this week on the show. We mourn the current closure of movie theaters with our top five movie going experiences listeners. China into that more. That's funny because I happen to have Mr McLuhan right here ahead on film spot. Welcome to film spotting with Josh. I'm Adam and as we record this. Josh movie theaters are closed. They've been closed for a month or more and they'll continue to be closed for the foreseeable future which means this week's top five movie going. Experiences is either perfectly timed or it's the last thing people want to hear right now. Yeah could be either an act of morning or celebration curious Adam. Is this the longest you've gone sense? You started going to the movies when you were young Without being out of theater because I think it might be for me. Actually it has to be right. When would you ever be away from movies? Maybe when my first child was born but even then we'll get into this a little bit with our lists. I remember going to a Lotta movies when Holden was very young. That's what that was my thought too is. It must have been when we had a new baby but no because in both cases I was working as a fulltime film critic so I would have gotten back to work within a month for sure and Bannon a theater so yeah. This has been a long stretch. If you were anticipating are ghostbusters versus Gremlins throwdown. We have decided just to move that to next week. So if you didn't get those viewings in you have a little bit more time. That part of our eight from eighty four series. This was a top five that our producer Sam suggested in fact he's been suggesting it for many months. Maybe a couple years ago Josh annually. Yeah for some reason. We have always resisted it. We talk about our apprehensions a little bit. And now it's gone from the top five. We both vowed maybe never to do to a segment that I vowed to Sam would never be more than about twelve to fifteen minutes to an entire show. While let's just for the record that happens almost every time we do a top five where they'll say this is only going to be twelve minutes and it could be an entire show so that's nothing new But yeah resistance to this list. is is proven. There's historical basis for that but times have changed. It's a different time. Adam and get does call for this list before we get to that though we want to once again mention the Chicago Cinema Workers Fund and then also the art house America campaign. The arthouse America campaign is co sponsored by the criterion collection. And it's already raised over five hundred thousand dollars for independent cinemas across the country so again keeping this on the mind not being able to go to theaters like these independent cinemas and really worrying about their future. More information on both of these funds again. The Chicago Cinema Workers Fund and then the Art House America campaign will be in the notes for this show at film spotting dot net on twitter invited listeners to write or call in with the names of family and friends who are working on the front lines during this pandemic and we heard from a friend of the show. Kenny Meyer also longtime listener Tom Morris and they called in with some shoutouts. We WanNa make sure that Jamie and Jennifer gets them. Well deserved attention responding? Kannemeyer back and Pump does our California and Just wanted to call and response to the tweet about the front line workers. Doing Cook Nineteen You guys know my sister Jamie She works in respiratory therapist. Linda Hospital Big Hospital here in southern California and Is on the front lines as they say. But if you follow around letterbox. She's still finding lots time to keep up on movies. She's already seen blow the man down so she's one ahead of me right now so just shut my big sister Jamie Thanks for doing what you do. Keep up the hard work and thanks to everybody. Who's out there working on our behalf. I don't funny Adam. Josh Sam Levy Guys. Thanks for the show in a long time to get any feedback So all the ones happy holidays. Happy Fifteenth Anniversary. Thanks for the Bette Davis Marathon and I right talk to you soon. Hey signing this. Is Tom Morris of the good the bad and the nerdy movie podcast? I just wanted to call and give a shout out to a very special person. Says dear to me who is a front line worker. That would be my wife. Jennifer sheet is a unit secretary at a hospital in my area. Hers is actually a little more complicated jobs and she. You know if you hit if a patient hits the help button. She's the first person they speak to. She's the one that organized the handles all the assignments. She gets the nurses to to alert them. When something's going wrong. She is basically the person probably speaks the most of the patient with them ever realize it and I feel like that her and others in her position should get many shout outs is. They're the UNSUNG heroes. Just like you know editors are and so forth and film anyway Let's get all those healthcare workers fighting save everyone's suffering for a couple of nineteen. Thanks thank you Kenny. And Tom for your thoughtful voicemails and of course thank you. Jamie Jennifer for everything you're doing and our thanks as well to everyone out there working on the front lines. If you have a friend or family member you want to give a shout out to. You could drop us a line. Three one two two six four zero seven four four or send us an MP three file or an email feedback at film spotting dot net. We're going to get into our top five now. Josh movie going experiences with some poll results that you could argue completely contradict the spirit of the top five. We asked listeners to vote on their favorite type of movie going experiences. We came up with these four opening night full house for a comedy opening night full. House for an action movie or opening night full House for a horror movie. You could also go. I'm not into crowds weekday alone at my favorite art house. Finally if none of those fit the bill for you you could vote other and right in your choice. How did it come out Josh? This is incredibly revealing? I think Adam other is in last place with six percent and then packed pretty tightly together. Are the three communal options. So ten percent of the vote went to opening night horror movie eleven percent opening night comedy and eighteen percent opening night action movies so you see some differentiation. There among those options but easily winning this poll. We're Buncha loners in film. Spotty Nation Weekday alone at my favorite art house took it with fifty five percent of the vote. That's also how you and I voted. Yeah it is though in fairness we could say that instead of being a bunch of loners film spotting nation is actually just a bunch of snobs. And it's not so much the day of the week or going by yourself or with a group it's the type of movie and they just loved the art house fare donors. Snobs you say potato. Yeah exactly we heard from John Dempsey. Who said I voted alone slash art house though? It's really a tie of extremes for me the other being full house slash blockbuster the alone arthouse preferably daytime experience really put you in a trance. There's nothing quite like seeing for example. The APU trilogy at Film Forum than leaving the dark theater for the bright bustling streets of New York and wandering literally and in your mind with one foot still in the world of the film on the other hand. The communal anticipation in line. The urgency of getting a good seat and the roars of laughter and gasps during an opening weekend showing of say a fast and furious film. It's the type of shared energy. Most people search for music festivals or sports stadiums. I need both in this stem dearly. And I think that's the case I think even us and the people who voted the fifty five percent who said Weekday alone of the art house. We want both and we do crave both and we're going to reflect back on some of the best communal experiences that we've had going to the movies. Yeah that makes sense to me. My my vote in favour of being alone was not in opposition to those other options. Because I do love all of those other options as well. So that's fair. John Characterizes it. Well

Here's What We're Watching During Quarantine

"I've had for years box. Dvd set that celebrates the Chicago Bulls six championships in the nineteen nineties. The title is NBA Dynasty Series Chicago Bulls Real quick takeaways couple takeaways Scottie. Pippen totally underrated. I I mean. I know he's considered a legend and one of the top fifty basketball players all time. But but he's even better than that as far as the goat discussion. Greatest of all time between Jordan and Lebron James. All right I conceded. I think it was a year or so ago that Lebron has probably taken that title. I'm more than willing to be argued that I'm more than willing to be argued wrong as a Chicagoan but one thing is for sure after going through some of these. Dvd's Jordan is so much more fun to watch. I mean he just. He spent so much time doing beautiful things. High up in the air way above Lebron's had would have been so That's just a blast to watch now. You can't this is kind of a sneaky. Pick you can't stream this. Dvd set so. I'll take this occasion as an excuse to mentioned that. Espn's ten part Michael Jordan Doc. The last eight they move that up it was gonNA come out on June nineteenth. Yup the release date is April nineteenth. So obviously I can't wait for that listeners. I can maybe loan you my bulls box set because it isn't streaming but otherwise just look for the last dance this weekend on ESPN. I will be watching it. Yeah I have not seen the set that you are watching but I cannot wait for Sunday night. When the ten part doc starts it's been this mythical thing that's been rumored to be in production or potentially production for some time new house coming out and ESPN wisely bumping that up. I think it's something that a lot of people just like us are going to be watching my number three these fall under the category of blind spots and in this case there is a specific hook to Josh. Though it wasn't by design all explain it's my unofficial slash official. Bruce SURTEES MARATHON. So one day. I realize I'm kind of running out of options in terms of things that are really hooking me on net flicks and I know that there are some things I should get to real cinematic blind spots that have been mentioned on the show over the years that I feel regret about but they just seem heavy. I'm not ready for it yet. I need stuff. That's under two hours. I can knock it out and I needed to be reasonably entertaining but I do still WanNa feel like I'm getting some homework done. I do still want to feel like I've crossed something off my list that I felt for some time that I needed to get to so I went over to Amazon prime. And one of the things that popped up happen to be dirty Harry the first dirty Harry movie with Clint. Eastwood Don Siegel directed and right away. I realized how stylishly shot it was and so after I watched it I looked up who the DP was and I see that. It's Bruce Surtees. I think yeah I know that name. I can't really tell you what else he's done. I don't know much about his history's legacy at all but that is a name I have heard and oh I'll just file that away okay. So what's next? Couple of days later I go back to prime one of the film's POPs up. Lennie the Bob. Fosse directed film about Lenny. Bruce and that really is one for me. I've always been ashamed because I adore. Is You know all that jazz. Fosse's film I like cabaret quite a bit as well and in the TV series Fossey Verdon some of the making of Lenny POPs up in that TV series it. Of course POPs up in all that jazz as well. A lot of cutting to scenes of the fosse alter Ego Joe Gideon cutting the movie. That would become lenny so it was kind of just been a joke for me that I've never watched this film. I decide I'm going to sit. And Watch Lenny and. I'm watching the credits. And whose name POPs up is responsible for the Black and white cinematography. It's Bruce Thirty so then decide okay. Well this is just too convenient too much of a coincidence. We're going to make this happen and I'll give you just a little bit of background on him. Is He a name? That's familiar to you at all Josh. Young familiar with the name. I don't think I would have been able to identify any of his movies though right so he got his start as a camera. Operator working with Don Siegel and especially on Siegel and Clint Eastwood Films in the late. Nineteen sixty so movies like two mules for sister Sarah and Cubans Bluff and then his first role as a cinematographer. As the director of photography was Nineteen. Seventy-one it was the beguiled so that Seagal Directing Eastwood and then play misty for me followed that where he was working with eastward again but this time Eastwood as director that was his debut he died in twenty twelve and if you look at his. Imdb the early two thousands in the nineties were not good to surtees out of maybe twenty. Titles there's not one that really stands out as essential viewing and even at the end of the eighties. The decade closed for surtees with rat boy back to the beach and licensed to drive in the eighties for him was otherwise filled with a lot of eastwood's stuff prior to that so movies like Fire Fox and tight rope and sudden impact even honky. Tonk man his heyday really was the nineteen seventies which brought me to night moves. This is an Arthur Penn. Early Bleak Neo Noir starring Gene Hackman as a former football player turned disillusioned private. I would other type of private. I is there in the seventies and it's all set within the movie business so it's reflexive to in the mode of Altman's the long goodbye and then the one I most recently watched was another Eastwood blindspot. Which is Pale writer?
