I don't let me tell you what I'm supporting okay. These are the issues we're getting into this. These are the issues of the twenty twenty election. Twenty Twenty election is coming folks whether you believe it or not. I saw great name a couple of times this week about a time traveler came back in time and this person said we we were just at the inauguration of Donald Trump up and they said the first term of the second term and in the time traveller said that right Oh so we'll see what happens in other words he won twice yeah so but here's what's going to come and I anybody worried about Donald Trump in and the debates whenever they finally come down to like. I think it's GonNa make television history. WHOEVER DONALD TRUMP has to debate is going to make light beyond anything that's ever been seen in American politics? Can you imagine I mean it is going to be all kind of mudslinging going on yeah. The two thousand sixteen primary for bedding they were bad wrong. That's wrong. You're right 'cause you'd be in prison. I love it and he savage. The man is savage is but here's what here's what here's what's being talked about and this is a compiled list. I hold in my delicate fingers here. My my recently barbecue greased fingers the issues of the twenty twenty election. I'm going to read them off. Real Quick Can D._C.. Compile these she's exactly right and I read this and I'm like oh well these. This is what's going on incarceration death penalty private prisons cybersecurity affordable housing big banks income inequality paid leave for mothers minimum wage increase cost of college teachers salary Felon voting nuclear power fossil fuels versus renewable energy background checks for guns Medicare for all marijuana legalization overseas deployment of troops veterans Veterans Racial inequality reproductive rights criminal justice reform packing the supreme court abolishing the Electoral College gender inequality pay inequality wealth gap border wall immigration relationship with North Korea relationship with Russia relationship with China Nafta Tech Competition Online privacy and wealth tax. There's there's a lot going on in America. She didn't play. There's a lot going on now. Who and I want you guys like you tell me what you think the biggest issue heading in two twenty twenty s because because they asked that of the democratic debate contenders Democratic contenders at the debates and they said and they all came down and talking about universal health care they all came down talking about immigration reform and many of them were talking about climate? Change is the biggest threat to America today. Yeah I remember them. What do y'all think the biggest issue is? I don't think it's climate change. I think what it's well what I think it is. It's between the healthcare immigration all right. We cannot do universal healthcare okay so I'm going to let them know that right off so so so what we saw with I've been waiting. I'm very excited to tell this to see see something firsthand. As a healthcare provider myself I have lots and lots of opinions on this but when we were in Ireland Chad was driving my life flash before my eyes almost non-stop but one thing that I didn't miss in either to Chad was we drove passed an Irish hospital and there was a huge banner and they have socialist health care or socialized healthcare and there was a huge banner that hung over the side of this hospital that said where's our M._r._i.. An instantly I was like and this is why we don't want this in America when you take away the competition why should the governments in them anything well and not only that it was hanging over another side new services right the median that is the big side is where they're all right but that that's such a simple thing so if they've got a huge banner that they bought and put over the side of their hospital. What is the care like inside? That's just one thing thing and that's that's so scary. That's the last thing I would want to do is to bring that to. America competition is so important to be sure that your surgeon and your healthcare providers of the best of the best you know so if all the healthcare providers get paid the same that we've taken away the competition you know and just like everyone else. Healthcare writers have to get paid so that they'll go to school to learn what they need to learn to be the best party foul state. What do you think the biggest issue facing twenty twenty S? I think this time next year will still we'll be talking about immigration all right Brian. That's that was my answer as well. Thank you for taking that away from me. I'll also against quote unquote reproductive rights. I will send basically the abortion issue. They don't want to say it real quick Mark Kansas. y'All got one healthcare in defense defense. Okay mark you got something I think immigration is gonNA still I mean as far as the election is going to be big debates theme. I I do think immigration is a big deal. I agree with you on a philosophical level and a spiritual level as far as life is concerned Brian and I think he'll but healthcare immigration big big deal because it will do exactly what Barack Obama said and he said it early on fundamentally changing the United States of America fundamental change. We're starting to see that bliss talk about incarceration. Okay the numbers go down the list of some of these ones that standout so why is that an issue well. Let me tell you something. Donald Trump's done a heck of a job working on prison reform. I mean who thought that Kim Kardashian would be the person at the forefront who's bringing prisoner form to the president the United States and making this thing happen listen I mean. I hope there's a lot of people that are in prison. Yes America has the largest prison population of any country in the world. I hope that changes. I believe there's a reason for that. I think that we house a lot of people because you know in other countries. If you steal it just chop your hand off so that makes those people not want to steal as much whereas we're a lot nicer during the half as much they're missing one hand until they lose that hand yeah then they'd have to use feet and everything else I mean eventually just can be walking on dubs or they put them to work in some mine and they die easy handmaid's tale <hes> so so let's talk about that. What do you think about fell in voting because that's that's directly you know there are different ones and I love it when you get into these debates and everybody says well? That's a conversation we need to have well. They have the frigate conversation. Stop saying we need. It's a serious conversation. We need to have okay microphones in your face. Have the conversation say wasn't voting a rider privileged. Voting is a privilege it exactly right. You just lost when you go break the law that harmed other people or took from other people you. You just lost that privilege now. I think that there is okay but but here's the difference so I think after persons paid their debt to society depending on the crime. I think that a person can come to a place where that gets taken away back and you get the privilege back but like they're talking about people voting while incarcerated no no no in prison absolutely not because you lost opportunity have representation. It's a ludicrous idea. Let's talk about let's talk about legalization of marijuana because let's face it a lot of people who are in the prisons these days you know they got. They got caught selling a gram. They got whatever doing a whole deal should they be. In there. I mean these are non violent criminals that just wanted to be laid back and Cheech and Chong it for a little while you know. I think that's a hard one with the legalisation of that. I feel like once we do that. Then what's the next drug on the list that we're going to legalize just like it's going to snow drug and you can buy every corner store from I mean there's an is true. I mean you you know you you can make an argument that alcohol related deaths are far more pervasive than say marijuana related death which aren't but you're right. If you open the floodgates where you close it down. How does that affect the cartels? How does that affect the nature of <hes> you know? Ah There's a lot of their statistics both ways on that but I just don't I me personally and young disagree with me. I just don't think that the average person that was out smoking weed or got caught sellin little pot ought to be doing hard time in Huntsville not next to murderers yeah I mean I have. I have an issue with that but I think if you legalized it nation- nationwide tomorrow you're not going to get a bunch of new marijuana smokers. Those guys are already anybody that's doing. It's already doing it. I mean you know hey i. I kind of agree with that there. There might be some people who like maybe for professional reasons. They don't do it and feel like okay. Now I can because it's legal but I don't know that there's a whole lot of those people either. Let's talk about income inequality does is does income inequality exist or is it a myth in America. That's the debate it exists. I mean it exists in a sense but it depends on how you want to see it. Is that a good thing or bad thing. I think it's service. I think it is a difficult thing I think I think it's easier for the men to slingshot past the moms because when the MOMS have to take time off and it is too expensive for the company to employ right bombs moms it is but I mean somebody's GonNa have a baby at some point or we're gonNA lose our earthly doctors expensive. You can offset them with lower. Pay No what happens..

"Hey, if you you need to display your patriotism by buying an American flag, you remember? And so everybody even know the flag market existed. You know and everybody needed flags we'd like twenty thousand US flags and twenty thousand flagpoles flagpoles have been there fucking forever. She had to blow the dust off of it. And people aren't even American flag league in and I gotta give it up for the guy who owned the own the place. He never raised at one dollar like he was selling still at wholesale prices when he could have been gouging crazy, and we sold out so much and it's Texas, right. So these people were calling non stop, and I'm out of everything American flagging thing has an American flag on it people come out. I need American flag out. What do you want to do like stitch some for, you know? I mean American flag. We'll have an American flag with John Wayne on it is an octagonal. Excel in these fucking every American flag with the native American. I'll take it. You know, they'll take anything rapidly flag with American. I'll take it. Then give up. Sold out. Take don't tread on me civil war flags. Yeah. These guys Betsy Rawls Haley was like no don't do this. So we sold jersey hundred hundred it was so insane. I'm swear to hand to God, man. This guy walks in the American flag, bro. I don't have anything. There's nothing. There's no I don't have anything for your too late miss ship, and he wouldn't take. No for an answer. I was like well I have a Liberian flag. The stripes are just switched, but the same colors and instead of fifty stars is just one big white star in the middle of a blue square. He was like, I take it. This fucking guy walked around like America forever. Liberia flag. Naked. They I sold all of those. Oh my God. It was crazy was absolutely madness. What's what is? What is internal wrote a whole bit about it, and the specialist like one of my favorite things. What is what is being Palestinian like like, what is like I'll I'll tell you from my perspective being Irish Irish German everytime. Family get together were drinking beers. All the guys go out in the garage, go to my nana's house. We tell stories about their dad and book drinking's around us. And and and and there's like a there's a weird connection to Ireland that none of us really have. Right. But we believe we you know, it's like our connect. But you do. Yeah. You know, like, it's interesting side fact, but they scientists DNA hold memories. Yeah. So you're having feelings you're having these like sensations and this connection that is in nightly inside your bloodstream. It's there you don't even know that. It's there. But you feel like that's home. That's where that's where your soul came from something. So that's there. But being Palestinian is one of the hardest things you could be, you know, because there's so much misinformation out this all much missing so much misinformation. There's also there's this like taboo of talking about who you are. It's like very difficult to have a regular conversation. Yeah. Without people having these, you know, images in their head of what you are. And where you come from. And quite frankly, you know, we're kind of victims of what the British empire did at the time. You know? So it's like we are displaced peoples so breakdown breakdown what happened to Palestine. I remain is hard efforts on long story. But. Was by way. If I'm saying something where you go. Well, that's part of the misinformation or that's like let me know like Palestine was Israel, correct, throughs, lem, wait, right? Yeah. Essay. So you didn't fucking. Kidding, man. So yes. So again, this is..

"Unbelievable. It happens to professional broadcasters predictions for the matches who's going to win. I know you guys are having on the pro side. But the amateur side looks good. And why would we root for the amateur? Well, you've got a friend named John pig who's very close to both you guys here's a captain along with Pat Rogers and Brandon Boyd sin, and you know, every good guys on that amateur side. Well, they're not they're not bad guys in the process. Wringers this year because the pros have been known to bring in Joe Ogilvie, Omar your arrestees, Tom Kite, Ben Crenshaw, if you could you would dig up Ben Hogan, I think when this year. It was when it was eight to five and we're playing at Spanish we rolled out. Henrik rolled out. We won that twenty three to five. Y'all have on now. Threes. But with the weather we had the reschedule from the next two days, we pushed it back to November twelfth and thirteenth. So we may have a player to up our sleeve. That wasn't available. We, you know, we really want to get Ben Kern had a great performance. From Georgetown now. And then Omar is going to be available and Rick Arnett who was going to be the senior. He was going to be gone at the senior section. So some of those guys think of the Gasset limit come back come on Andrew Landry. Sergio Petrovic Watney. I'm calling for good idea. By the way, Sergio's in the lead of his his the tournament in Spain that his his charity puts on. So we wish him well tomorrow when he got to fifty four is that right? Steve that is and I just wanna make a quick comment. You know, we host the event were Angela and Sergio Garcia foundation. They made a twenty seven thousand dollar contribution to the handed Cup association. Wow. Which is unbelievable. Probably had that in his pocket. Tip. The car can. No, no. Really significant and spent a welcome addition to Austin, he really has his Scotty just mixing whatever the names, we do have guys in Austin that just light it up from from Ben Kern from Georgetown country club who played so well in the US open, and we talked about Petrovic had a great year. West short has had a great year. Tom Pyatt still out there all mar still hit that around Andrew Landry. Bo hostetler. It's it's it's a fun time in Austin Dafa. We gotta say Steve congratulations to the Texas women's golf team. But one day here at your club and a resounding victory in the Betsy Rawls I mentioned last week. They're pretty good. I think this is one of the top five teams in the country. And ironically enough Alabama's ranked number one they got to top ten ranked players in the world that are leaving mid semester. So they're going to go from number one to number fifty and I think. That's great. Lied into that top five on the women's golf sound wonderful. But you know, what all the Austin guys just goes to show, you what we need to do with junior golfing Austin because we had the two best juniors in the world grow up here and started this all and there's no reason I I was out here for our George Hannan junior to start one day first time I've ever been able to do it. You cannot believe the quality of kids playing this event. It's phenomenal these and the younger players are still younger and younger. That's the point. They're playing so beautifully as young kids. And the guys but Texas currently tied for ninth place at the tavist stock the CJ Cup at nine bridges in Korea ended what midnight twelve thirty this morning. It was twelve hours watching it was twelve thirty and Brooks kick, it just I mean, I turn on the TV kind of bleary eyed after some football games, and and Gary woodland had caught KEPCO on fifteenth hole. Then all of a sudden kept good birdies. Fifteen birdie sixteen eagles eighteen. Yeah. Kept a wins. Today, the nine bridges, and he is now the number one player in the world. Brooks is number one in the world as you said Gary woodland finished in second place this morning in Korea woodland seventeen hundred par Texan Ryan Palmer, who's played a lot of golf here at UT golf club had a sixty two he missed about a seven footer for sixty one yesterday Scott to get this. He ended with seven. Consecutive birdies. Yeah. He had a real makeable putt on the last hole. He's an Aggie right? He's an Aggie from Amarillo, but his mom lives here. And he spent a lot of time here, and it was a nice finish for our friend. Bill. Hasler Boho slur finished tied for eighteenth. The Sunday bugaboo has gone. He finished at six hundred today. Okay. I'm gonna tell you something. Ed, you won't believe Jeffco wins a million seven for that tournament. Okay. You know, they ask why these guys are playing in these fall tournaments now. Well, the money's the money's just as good and Bo hustler for finishing eighteenth place. How much you think he won? He probably one probably maybe eighty thousand dollars twenty one thousand can you believe that he's making radio money now. You mean annual ratings? Three year radio. Well, good for Boho slurp. Also today, they played on the champions tour and Woody Austin Woody Austin was a winner today. Gosh, I was hoping Jay Haas was gonna win today. Scotty, you would've been the oldest winner ever on the champions tour. But Woody Austin was a winner today. Woody Austin wins and at eleven under par guests who was second. No surprise there. Bernard long Bernhardt line is still number one. In the Charles Schwab Cup standings Bernard longer finishes one back at ten under. Fran quinn. Don't know who they win the great Fran Quinn. He's played in Austin many times. Yeah, franklin. Okay. Yeah. Where's he from? Where do you go to school? I don't know where it went to school. But he's a heck of a golfer. I think it was a hockey player as he just turned fifty. No, no, no. He's been around the block out the okay, I'm sorry. I just don't know another one. I'm sorry. I don't know. Also finished nine hundred third-place can't Jones Jones Jones is remember Kent Jones. He was a great collegiate player. No. I don't remember Jay Haas also tied for third. Well, Jay Haas. I was hoping he'd become the oldest oldest winner. But gosh, darn it. He's is not we're here at the beautiful UT golf club for the big dinner tonight for the George Hannan cut because of wet weather Spanish oaks the matches. You're going to be held November twelfth and thirteenth. But tonight all the captains and the players and members of the George handicapped society will be meeting here at the UT golf club for the annual dinner. This was started in nineteen Ninety-seven by Mark Howard in our friend Brett buckman and people like John pig. Jeff Beauregard who are. Are going to be the captain's will be with us. But it's just a wonderful gathering of Austin golfers who who donate to give scholarships and to remember coach, George Hannan and we lost both coach. And Joe within battery day, I think it was within three days of each other. And they're both very Texas State cemetery appropriately along with a lot of great historical figures in Texas. And of course, coach Hanan two national championships. And coached a lot of great players at UT. Sure did win one wonderful man and to be a little sentimental tonight. Because he was always a big part of this. But he'll always be in our thoughts. So the great coach George Shannon coming up after the.

"Stephen territory, also say Munich conservancy, one of our sponsors, Stephen Tara for here from the UT golf clubs is also president of the handed society, first of all for our listeners may not know, what is the society? And what are some of the things that Hanan society does brief history. We started in nineteen ninety seven it was really Brent buckman and Mark cowards idea we had launched Austin country club and Brent wanted Donner cochina, then all his successes. So we put together the hand and cut matches which pitted. Fourteen to the best professionals against fourteen to the best damage damages. We did that for the first six seven years, and you've been kind enough to MC MCI event for twenty one years. Great event we evolved into the handed Cup. Association because we wanted to do more for Austin and the junior gal program, so we've founded the scholarship program to the southern Texas PGA, we added the George Shannon junior invitational over time. So really this thing is evolved into so much. We've contributed more than two hundred fifty thousand dollars to graduating seniors, which is great. We have the George junior invitational. In august. We added the in pro-am at UT golf club in June. And then we cap everything off the hand Cup matches next week. And it's really fun because you said the best playing professionals against the best amateurs, and it is very competitive. I know from the amateur standpoint people with people would love to be on this team because it's a goal of all the top amateur golfers that I know to get on get on this team. It is ironic. It is we were tied up at ten to ten in following our twentieth anniversary and now amateurs one last year. So it's eleven to ten heading into the twenty second playing of the hand. And yeah, it is a very prominent match to qualify for who's favored this year. The pros are the amateur not saying the complete amateur list little secret. Just because you've got pro behind your name doesn't mean that you play much the amateurs play about three times more than than we do. But I think we're a little more accustomed to playing some of the foursome and fourball competitions. We kind of have the euro approach in that regard. So we keep it close. And I think we're looking good for this year. And you've had some great great pros play in Santo, Omar regularly place in this. And who else have you had on the how we've had rich beem, Nick Watney? And we really loaded up the team that amateurs kicking our butts so bad eight to five and then Henrik Simonsen added Spanish jokes loaded up unequated seven touring professionals, and we won that slate twenty three to five year they amateurs weren't thrilled about that. Now on the hand in hand and association handed society, how can our listeners join and be a part of that because I know many people in this town love, George Hannan and Johann and what they stood for and what they did for golf in the university of Texas golf, how can people be a part of this. Yeah, you can go to Hanan society dot org. Randy long is our managing director. She's done a tremendous job, formerly with AJ and then work with us at the UT golf club. And does a lot of the southern Texas PGA. She runs our organization does a phenomenal job at canon society dot org. Fantastic. Steve talk about UT golf club a little more because we didn't get into. You've got the eighteen hole championship. Golf course. Designed by ROY Bechtol and his partner. Now, you've got the Jordan Spieth short-course talk about that. Because that has really been a big buzz going around the state about that. Yeah. We added the it's called the speed, lower, forty minutes on four and a half acres. We spent about a million four and its features. The latest zoysia grass is down there. It's an incredible six hole. Short course with seven. Five to one hundred yard shots and tell you what's interesting. You're seeing a lot of families. A lotta grandkids grandparents out there playing the camaraderie of the game. I mean, it only takes thirty to forty five minutes to play. It's really I think it's the future of our sport. You know, you don't have to make the four or five our commitment. You can go out there. Thirty minutes to an hour. And have a great time. You can play barefoot down. And we do feature on the way down. It's really incredible. There's been one hundred seventy professional victories from our UT former players and a lot of people don't realize, but. Betsy Rawls, and Betty Jameson and the likes like that Harvey such a rich history and tradition, but you walk down there. One hundred seventy plaques down there on the wall of champions. You know, obviously, Jordan, I think he's got fourteen at this point in time. But the up and comers. The Cody griddles of the world that Jonathan Vegas is you'd mentioned that prediction, I have a couple predictions from our UT players in addition to bow hostile which I think he's going to solve that fourth round problem there, but Kramer, Hitchcock got his card, obviously got Jordan out there. Dylan for tallies, one of the tidiest players on tour. I think you're going to see a lot of great things coming out on the women's side as well. You know, we had our USA amateur champion from a couple years ago. So I think you're gonna see some professional victories a lot of our UT players acce- Kramer haircut. 'cause I've gotten to know him through my son's really nice young, man. And I think he's gonna do. Well, great family. What about Brandon Brandon stone is on the European tour? He is and he's a. Another one that he'll be over here soon soon enough. I've never seen a kid. We went to Hawaii one time we took a big group of members and he stood up on the four hundred twenty five yard par four eighteenth. And Monica hit it right over a tree right off the tee right on the middle of the green this kid ways. Maybe one hundred sixty five pounds. That's one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. Yeah. Good group of guys. How about Gavin Holland? Scotty chef. Where are they? Down just a little bit injured. So he's he recovered from a rib, but he'll he'll be there. I mean, great kid great player and Scotty, and I didn't mention Doug GAM, Doug and Scotty or man if some of the best players you've ever seen so consistent and just fine young gentleman. I think they're going to be very successful. I've seen Doug plan some European events. He played I believe last week. So he's he's making the rounds. Trying to try to get stabbed on on tour. And it's difficult as we all know, it's difficult at one of those difficult things in professional sport is to get a spot on the PGA tour accreditation on any tour. I tell you I just carried the bag ninety holes last week for Q-School Taylor down in Houston. And it it is such a grind to get there. And for years. We watched Justin and guys like that out there trying to make it, you know, now, we've got seven of these up and comers. And I just I think we're we're starting to see a lot more to or cards, and it's just really hard to get there. But how we're having a lot of success right now. Yeah. Once you get there. There's a learning curve to just just getting used to the travel. Well, dug in went up to the US open at Shinnecock story up there for a practice round with his dad like ten days before the tournament. And he asked the pro there he said where should I study? I mean, he didn't realize it. Everything was booked up within sixty miles of Long Island. And thank goodness. One of the members chenecocs just just gave them their house for the week and step aside. But there is a learning. Yeah. Learning curve. Okay. Hey, thanks for being with us. We really appreciate Tara. Thanks so much. I'm gonna say they can say, okay, they stay for the for the fridge Arabia. You might need help. I always have a little fun. We'll stay stay then for tributes. What is your official title? Yeah. General manager CEO COO chief operating that's pretty fast. And I knew you win where you're just a gopro. Welcome to the show. Tara who runs the the pro shop, and it is a gorgeous pro shop on our afternoon show. We've been giving away the great hatch hatch from UT golf club two very special people. Scotty, we have here whether they're old and dear friends and. The UT golf club is one of the one of the best private clubs in the state of Texas. And it's and it's because of these two people right here. And when I like to see you gotta activities just about every week of the year with it being university of Texas golf lovey put a big emphasis on football games. And you have a big party Friday night buses going to the games, and really it's not fun atmosphere out there. It's a special time for the club. We have our fifteenth anniversary this year and to see what you guys are talking about the hall of fame and congratulations to Austin country club. We were running the club there as we celebrated the hundred year history, and it's just such a story program in Austin. And you know, the last fifteen years has just flown by with the UT golf club. But it is a blast. Home game weekends. We'll have three to five hundred out there celebrating. And we've got our fifteenth nursery coming up on November sixteenth fantastic. Our state game should be a blast. And you also the home home of the golf team men's and women's which is very special, and we talked about the longhorns playing for third place in the match play championship and your up close and personal with those guys just about seven days a week your son played on the golf team. So you're you're you're not one of the coaches, but you're sort of a coach unofficial coach we made a lot of the players, and we've seen fifteen graduating classes, but you know, it all started with Ben and Tom and Kotani seventy one and seventy two championship teams. And then forty years later we had this kid, Jordan Spieth roll through. And we'd landed that victory that had Riviera for third national championship. And I can tell you the future is extremely bright Kohlhammer hammer on the team. We've got Mason gnome coming in Travis Vic, the Cudi, boys. Cooties? Daddy. Cow was my host at Texas back in the mid eighties. And to see this all come to fruition. I think twenty twenty you're going to be seeing another championship post hoisted here in Austin. I'll tell you what the program somehow continues to get better. And better. I mean, you look at it fifteen years ago, and or wind coach feels come twelve he's been here since ninety seven. Yeah. Boy, time flies one years. But it's been it's been building and building. Of course, we were. We were there. Of course. Ben, and Tom, then the your your club your team, Steve the Mark Brooks years the Justin Leonard's years, John. But it continues. This is this is the UT golf team. I think is what Tom Herman would like the football team in the competition for national championship every state can year. Coach fields has made the play. I believe six at the last eight years, and I will tell you another prediction since you were talking predictions. The women the women's team's going to win the national championship in the next three years. They're really good. They've got to turn the Betsy Rawls coming up pretty soon this week this week the end of this week at UT golf club starts competition starts Friday and concludes on Sunday where he coach Murphy and Kate golden I mean what you couldn't have a better situation for that program. If you want to see some of the great teams come on out for that. It's open to the public speaking open to the public Tara Runcie UT golf club pro shop, and it's open to the public. Absolutely. And it is chock full of great Longhorn stuff. And what do you feature? I know. I know you're clubs club bath pretty good pro shop, but tell everybody what you feature what what what are you like to sell most of all and the golf club. I tell you what our men's lines are really coming along. Great. We have our online stores if you go to UT off club dot com and hit the homepage. And hit the shop online. You can see all our feature lines that we have are always adding new merchandise there. Peter Millar is always a great seller. Travis Matthew, we've also started our brand and go and see the it says UT g C brand. And that's our brain that we're gonna be growing and building and working with some designers and always creating new and fresh merchandise that you can't get anywhere else. But at the club, and so that's our new introduction. This year. You know, merchandising is such a tough business, and you do a great job with it. We were. Talking about some of the young clothing lines in Austin, like cricket Bill Murray's got his company that they've got an Austin that they just launched some sportswear. And then, of course, all our local pro shops like lines and Morris Williams today they push their merchandise at people wear proudly. But we go back we go back as far as Barton creek. And we're talking a little bit before the show a Bobby Jones shirt. Can you believe what people charged for that? And what she charged for it in the Barton creek shop in that team eighty seven well back in the day when Ben had one and everybody was excited. He was wearing the Bobby Jones line. We would sell a million of them, and that was at a hundred and thirty dollars each and we couldn't keep him in the store, and it was that was one of the first time that I ever got called into the accounting offices that I had written a hundred thousand dollar purchase order. And they wanna know whose signature was on that one. Thank goodness for you that it sold up against sixty nine dollars Pickering shirts with Pickering back in those days. And singer. That's right because they were paying the pros and a little bit in their retirement account, aren't they exactly. And so does where some big brands. But yeah, that was then really made that happen. And really got me out of trouble, you go from traditional old man golf shirts to this dry fit things. That's the hottest thing that gets me that the dry fit the new styles where it's comfortable, and it looks good. Even though it's hundred ten degrees outside. Well, they do a technical hybrids. So you have the technical fabric. That's in were interwoven with the cotton. And it creates a better fabric better to wash and wear. No dry cleaning. Well, I'm still school. I like hundred percent. Oh, goodness. We have that too. Now. Helps in the old man department over there. Hey, I'm sorry. Stephen territory. Tradit- tradit- tradit- the fifteenth glove on Kilby BJ radio there from the university of Texas golf club. And again, we want to thank you for giving us a bunch hatch. We gave away which of course, you know, who got his four so, but thanks very much. But is how is the business changed for YouTube? Because you you're you're young guys guys and girls here. But it's it's changed in the time. You guys have started out your business. Yeah. We're in our twenty seven th year here in town and spent about seven and a half with Austin country club five and a half with Austin country club. I'm sorry, seven half Barton creek and then five and a half with Austin than last fifteen with UT and we've seen a lot, you know, the business after nine eleven really slowed down where the last new start in Austin in two thousand three so to see Brent come back to town, the driftwood golf club. It's really exciting. I mean, this is such a great market. We've had one hundred people a day move here for years in a row. So it's great to see the golf industry. I I go to a lot of. National meetings and things and people talk about the business being down. Nothing's down in Austin, the junior program, so strong and the private club and the public clubs are doing great. That's a good time for golfing Austin. Well, do you think we have enough enough places to play golf and Austin? You know, we're trying our hardest to save lines for public golf and that sixty five thousand rounds a year, you can't pull that out of the system. But do we need more golf courses? I think we haven't had a private club opens Hispanic jokes, right? Since us. Got to. Okay. But I agree. I think we need more golf you go to Dallas and Houston and you look at their MSA's. I mean, there's there's hundreds of golf courses Austin. It's so hard to build them you go down twelve inches. You hit solid rock. It's so expensive to find two hundred acre tracts, so we do need some more. No question about it. And that's a big part of what lions provides. No question is a UT golf club full. Are you full of members right now? We are. Wow. Is that not great? And you have one thing a lot of friends who come in for football games. A lot of cut summer lake Travis. They are members Lada. You've got a lot out of town members. We do we have over three hundred out of town member summoned a full capacity and others in the limited play, and we have members from all over the world. And they were talking retailer earlier, you know, it's funny. Our retail sales kind of ebb and flow with with the ws and losses on the football field. So it's nice to see our football program gaining momentum whole five zero nine were somewhere. Biggest sales years we won top one hundred three times during those years. So yeah. It's a good time to be an Austin, Steven tear premier with this. When we come back. Steve is also the president of the Hanan society a great off society here in Austin in coming up later this month is a handcuff. We'll talk about that and much much more. This is the fifteenth club on KLBJ radio brought to you by ABC Bank by capital Chevrolet. Scotty, I'll be back with Stephen Tara. Right after this..
