"Kfi Am text line at three one nine nine six all right governor police Taking a very cautious look forward to a pandemic free Colorado during a televised town hall. He was actually joined by the state. Epidemiologists end the State Economic Director. In case you missed it. Here's the highlights. Vip's by John Angler in the Denver Post once again hopeful if exceedingly cautious look forward last night at a world in which covered one thousand nine is no longer a raging force that is occupying the minds and psyches of not only almost everyone in the state but indeed around the globe during this televised town hall with Channel Nine the Governor spoke of a return albeit a slow one. A slow return to normalcy. And well what might be? The new normal remains to be seen how things are going to change post a Cova de Nineteen. I can't help but think that normal might take on a whole new meaning but that's a conversation for another time. Police held up. Colorado's hard. Hit High country is an example of a part of the state that may experiences More challenges in the face of its high per capita corona virus caseload but still one that will come back or mountain communities he said like the rest of Colorado. They're strong and they're independent. We're going to bounce back. This is temporary are natural. Assets are incredible state world-class tourism opportunities. There will be a day when we're once again able to embrace tourists from around the world but he cautioned that a resurgence to business as usual in. Colorado won't happen all at once but likely in phases and that state officials will need to remain wary of large gatherings for a while yet. I can't help but think that many of us will do just the same. Somebody said. Let's talk about when we totally get back to normal. That means stadiums full of people congregations of thousands of people going to church. A lot of that will need Cure or vaccine. It seems to me that a vaccine or at least the promise of one in the immediate future is the best path to a return to normalcy. Doesn't mean he continued that bars and restaurants are opening in the same way right away. It might mean a week or two later but many of Restaurants owners can't be soon enough as we shared a piece yesterday talking about the fact that according to a survey of Colorado restaurant owners fourteen percent of them said they may well not reopen. Just another reason to a shop. Local support Those businesses that remain open particularly local restaurants offering delivery and carry out some reopened eateries. Might again have to start out at capacity. This according to Governor Jared Police During that town hall last night he was joined there by Dr Rachel. Herlihy this is the state epidemiologist and Betsy Markey. And it's a familiar name right. That's the Marquis heads up Colorado's office of Economic Development and international trade also a former US congresswoman from Colorado. Markey said that it's important that we continue to practice social distancing where you're mass and stays home as much as possible to prevent the spread to flatten that proverbial curve when it comes to the spread of cove nineteen at the end of the day. The quicker we can deal with this health crisis. She said get the pandemic under control the quicker. We can get our economy back on track. The worst thing the very worst thing we can do to open too quickly and then see another re-occurrence Kovic nineteen among folks. And then we're that much further back now as we talked about Monday. Governor police extended the statewide stay at home. Order have been set to expire Saturday..

"We spent all this time thinking about what the message is an all this time thinking about which reporters tell that message to and we spent in almost no time thinking about how to get the message from the politicians mouth from the hearing room into the mind to the voters we care most about and a truly sophisticated well-funded effort here would have had a would've been taking the moments in the hearing the key pieces of information and spending real money targeted voters in those swing districts or nationally if it was someone who was an effort designed to take down trump to drive drive the information home to cut through the noise because the media doesn't have the reach or the capacity to tell the specific story with the repetition Russian in volume. That is needed to break through the noise in Arkansas in our media environment not even counting the fact. That trump is throwing up distractions left and right. Yeah because even though shifts hearings were flawless. And even though you know possess aside I would say that the media has is covered impeachment better than I expected. Let's let's give them that even when they cover it well they still do. You know. Democrats have laid out all this. This evidence Republicans say it's not true you know and you still end up with this. One side is saying this one side is saying the other thing the whole thing is devolving into a partisan brawl right like and. I don't think it's anyone reporters fault it's sort of the it's a systemic issue with the way the media covers politics that Republicans have figured out how to game name and for some reason. Democrats cannot. It's it's not even it's not even possible. It has all the all the cultural off financial incentives of media in the facebook push in the wrong direction but even if we even if every single article article or a TV segment Rittner done about. This was fucking flawless. Right did not devolve into both sides bullshit just was here. The facts was explicitly called trump out. When he he was lying or Jim Jordan they're lying laid out the facts even then it would not be sufficient because the reach of traditional additional objective mainstream journalism in the digital age is not sufficient to get to people right? What matters is what is showing up in their social media feeds? What matters letters is the tilt of the direction on facebook primarily but also twitter instagram? The other things and that requires something more than depending on the near temps do it daily wire fire and all these other right wing sites have been weapon I breitbart etcetera weaponize information for a long time. Democrats have been unwilling and an able to you think about information think about how we weaponize information not in a negative way but how we get it to people and that is still like this is a broader conversation about How the presidential campaigns going to be conducted about just the State of American Democracy Day? But I think the what is happening is impeachment. Inquiry is an example of missed opportunities on the Democrat increase risk profile because the Republicans have the money and the willingness to do things. Democrats will not so so in terms of a democratic support in the house a few members of Congress and staff told The Washington Post that up to six or even more Democrats might vote against impeachment. Apparently this group of ten who've been talking about censure instead of impeachment that includes Josh God Heimer New Jersey Kurt Schrader of Oregon Anthony Brindisi of New York and Ben McAdams Utah Dan. What are the possible reasons for doing this? This infuriates me because look if democratic member does not want to vote for impeachment that is their call. I think they're wrong. I think they're wrong on the substance. They're on morality and I think they're ultimately wrong on the politics but that is their call. But what infuriates me about this. Censure conversation is it is a idea specifically redesigned by a small handful of Democrats. Fuck over their colleagues. They know impeachments going to pass. They know there is zero chance of censure. There is zero Republicans. Nobody's going to support center zero. It is not a viable alternative to impeachment but by floating it they get to position themselves as more reasonable then their colleagues and the problem is a lot of their colleagues. who were doing the right thing? The brave thing are also in vary in very republican districts. But now that's that's important too because I think you hear. Oh this is all about the frontline. Democrats they're being you know they're not creating up. There are a ton of Democrats and trump trump districts who've already said that they're gonNa vote for impeachment or we're going to end up voting for impeachment and it is an incredibly hard vote and good for them for doing that and it is not all of them. It's just a handful here. This is one of those examples that speaks something we've talked about before which is that. Centralism is identity not ninety algae and so this is that set of Democrats led by Josh Gad. Heimer who is the leader of this wing of democratic politics where your goal is not to adopt us at a moderate policies because you believe sincerely that those moderate policies are better than progressive policies. You were doing it to your constantly trying to position yourself off of the polar other ends of both parties regardless of how right or left it. Isn't anyone moment and so this is it's it's I think it's a pretty gross disloyal tactic to sort sort of Polish. Your own apple at the expense of your colleagues and I think it's really say this I was gonNA say like this. This is not a this is not about being ideologically. Moderate right. There's no there's nothing nothing about impeachment that has to do with ideology one way or the other. This isn't like saying you're against Medicare for all or that you hate the deficits or whatever like this is about the the President United States saying I get to bully foreign countries into destroying my political opponents. I get to bully foreign countries into rigging elections and when I get caught I get to ignore Congress and I get to ignore the law. And like if you're worried that you can't do a better job than Sean Hannity of explaining that to your constituents then you will never be an effective leader for people you won't and like look if trump if trump does this again and he succeeds and he gets worse. And you didn't try to stop it. You're going to have to live with that for the rest of your life if you're a democratic member of Congress and you just don't think he did it if you looked at all that evidence and you just think he's innocent that he didn't actually call for an investigation of his political political opponent that he didn't actually just ignore a an equal branch of government. And and just said fuck you to the separation of powers and decided that he's above the law if you don't think that's true then yeah that's fine vote for it. But like I know Josh Katayama I worked with Josh got him. He was a staffer on the Carey campaign. He fucking knows trump did did it. He's not doing this Pinot like look. Maybe they'll all end up voting for impeachment great wonderful but that. That's what I'm saying like I I know I know know the Josh knows that that Donald Trump and his guilty of it I know it. I know it and it's just like to play to play these games. It's your tonight and look I get the fear. I don't quite get the foreign got hammers district. Because it's it's not super conservative it's online like if you're Kendra Horn right. A new member elected from Oklahoma and a very very very conservative district. I get it I get. She must go home. And you have all these trump trump voters who she needs to win. She only one because a bunch of trump voters voted for and she needs these trumpers to win and they're furious at her and I get how hard that must be but again that's like that's that's the job and basically what you're saying is you know Fox News is scary and they have control over my constituents and so I just can't do anything about it and I'm just going to have to wait and you know be able to maybe compromise once in a while and get a little thing here and a little thing there and that's that I don't know I think that's that's pretty tough off it. We can get off this topic in a second but it really got under my skin today but it stands in stark contrast to the group. Uh of like there is obviously a group of democratic members of Congress who wrote a wave into office. They are in districts that under normal circumstances democrats should have Kendra horns your perfect example of that. And it's going to be a huge fight. Even under the most ideal political circumstances to hold onto those districts for time in in two thousand and ten we were trying to pass before we'll character is a huge group of people like that because the Democrats had the head one hugh a huge house and sex and then he even bigger house wave in two thousand eight and had just huge members people. Who are these deeply red districts and many of them were faced with this choice? Do you vote for the affordable care. Act which they all agreed with was the right thing to do but it would come at great political risk in some cases be almost certain to eliminate whatever chances they had of keeping their district. And there's a whole group of them. Who did the right vote? In the reasons they told Brock Obama. They did was because this you come here to do the right thing with the political chips fall where they may people like Tom Perez and Betsy Markey at whole bunch of other ones who lost their seats and there are people that Brock Obama just has so so much respect and affection for because they did that. This is one of those moments right. Where you're you know you had? There was political riskier position just by getting out of bed in the morning. So we're GONNA do the right thing or the wrong thing. Yeah and it's like I get it. No one came to Congress because they wanted to take this vote. But we didn't do this. Donald trump we weren't the ones who fucking bullied a foreign government into trying to destroy our political opponents. Donald Trump did this and now you have to respond to it. That's that's the truth So one thing we know is that you know. Even if there's a few defections Democrats will have the votes to impeach. So let's talk about what the Senate trial might look like Mitch McConnell said. It won't start until Oh mid January at the earliest in there now. Reports that McConnell wants to keep the trial short and quote drama free and may even not allow witnesses on either side side to testify trump on the other hand wants to mount a full defense. The White House says and that includes witnesses like Hunter Biden Joe Biden Adam Schiff the whistleblower the deep state. You know probably Barack Obama Michelle Obama right. The whole fucking gang So he wants he wants all the crazy right wing conspiracy theories on display in a trial McConnell doesn't seem at least at this stage to want that and so do and and other Senate Republicans outside of the Lindsey Graham crazy crazy squad Feel the seem to feel the same way. Why do you think that is well? If there is a question about witnesses you were raising the possibility that Khimik Mulvaney John Bolton a bunch of other people who know a lot of information and will be forced to testify and that is of great risk. The there's a whole set of facts on the table. They have been delivered by a whole set of witnesses. But the Republicans are savvy enough to know that the president's residents chief of staff or the president's disgruntled and very moustachioed former national security advisor would be blockbuster. Witnesses bright right the amount of attention that would get if they don't perjure themselves..

"Live from the iheart media studios in the DC might go ahead. It is my high honor to introduce to you. Capless and Krista Kafer Cavs are coming. This is the new Catholic. Show you better believe it on Denver's talk station. Six thirty. Another beautiful day to be alive in the rack mount west here with the two luckiest people on the face of this earth. I am Dan capless, she is Krista Kafer, and it doesn't get any better than this mansion this Krista have this time four to seven every day with these people in this world with everything going on. It's gonna be. Dan. I think I'm going to find your optimism little infectious. It might just rub off on my dark souls. So keep it up. That's the only thing about me. That's infectious. I promise you noticed. You're sitting along way. Yeah. I got to keep my distance. Because you know, I don't know. I don't know you that. Well, we're going to have a lot of fun together. I guarantee that happy warrior radio is what this is going to be. It is a very blue place to be right now, Colorado. No question that the Blue Wave took over Colorado last night. But question for you three or three someone three eight two five five is it forever. Okay. Is Colorado now blue for good. We know that the takeovers complete after last night. I mean, what's left the dogcatcher somewhere? But but it doesn't have to be forever. It was it was tough last night. And a number of my friends lost. Great people. George brock. Learn. You know, Mike Coffman, Wayne, Wayne Williams, just an amazing person that person who's kind of love by everyone. And yet, I, you know, and and here's where I have a little optimism. Do you remember two thousand and six vividly yesterday? Okay. Been a Kim been at elections judge all day side workplace, probably fourteen hours. So maybe I have an excuse for crying at that election. I think that was the last election I cried at its because good people lost everywhere across the state. We even lost the mountain district. If you remember right John Salazar took that and then that that that bad fortune two years later two thousand and eight we lost the eastern district to Becky Marquis, Betsy Markey. So this has happened before. And we came back in two thousand and ten so coming back is possible. I think we have to learn a few lessons and what happened here. I mean, we leave radio for a few months. I took about nine months. Sabbatical had wonderful one. Wonderful time with our amazing eighteen year old daughter before she goes off to college. You took a few months to do this. And that and the whole place goes to help clearly was because we were on the airwaves, we're gonna put an end to that. Now since we are here to liberate the state three zero three seven one three to five five the number. If you want a text us five seven seven three nine quick bio in case, maybe you haven't had the chance to catch up with one or both of us before Krista is this brilliant Mendes author and intellect to also teaches at the highest levels in his tremendous on Aaron just a fun person to be around ideologically. I would describe you as generally conservative libertarian, and and and not bound by maybe any set of rules, which helps me I'm not terribly doctrinaire kind of an independent thinker. But yeah, a cross between conservative and libertarian to a degree you. I would say are a good GOP, man. You. Pretty much pretty much in alignment start. A fight already. What what are we Jesse Thomas Bina Glasser, we two and a half minutes to the show? But that is good because we don't agree on everything and that's beautiful in its brewed. How would you describe your salary hours of brutal honesty? I would not the last thing I would describe myself as and I know this quote will be used against me some day. And I welcome that the last thing I would describe myself as is a GOP, man. I mean it. Okay. Where do you differ from the party? I am a truth seeker, and we can break that down. That's more than a fair question. But listen, I'm a truth seeker. Like, that's how I got to the GOP. I was born at democrat with the most amazing mom and dad now in heaven, you could ever imagine, you know, John Kennedy type Democrats, and we were proud of that. But we were raised to seek the truth and not be imprisoned by any political party or any of that. So it was truth seeking that brought me to the GOP which doesn't mean the GOP is perfect exhibit A yesterday wipe out. But, but it sure a heck of a lot closer to it than the other side. I couldn't agree more. And I have a lot of great friends in that are Democrats. But there are a lot of bad ideas there. And I'm sad to say, those bad ideas are about to swamp the state, right? But this goes back to the liberation because what people are gonna find him. We'll go to the phone lines three or three seven one three to five five capless in Kafer inaugural show today and the key question. What is Krista said, what does this mean for you? For your kids for Colorado. And how the heck did it happen? Lots of ground covered today. And by the way, very special guest use that word in caps. George Bronco will be in studio with us at five inch just goes to show we both know George personally in different ways, I've had the pleasure of working with him as a lawyer. And boy, he's a blast to work with as the lawyer brilliant guy. But but what character he was booked for this show when? Them to win in spite of the last last night, very very narrow loss. But he's still coming on. He's keeping that commitment. That's just the the measure of the person. And he he's a young man. He's actually I think a year or two younger than me. And I'm pretty young. He is on his way to big places is just not now. And I think he is an amazing person. You know, when you think of all the US presidents, some great some lousy, but all the US presidents who have losses in their past wavelength office. You know, Abe at the top of the list, obviously, the bottom of the list in terms of performance of Barack Obama. You know, he lost a congressional race. Bill Clinton lost along the way. Ronald Reagan lost along the way. Our lines are in fire somebody called nine one one. I'm not sure the system can handle this. But Gerry how what a privilege for us. Gary wants to be the first caller on our first show together. Hey, Gary your with capitalist and care for welcome. My friend. Hey, Gary, the very first caller. Yes. You are. Well, I'm so happy to hear both of you back. And I'm glad that your troops seekers, which is always a challenge with President Trump. Amen. What? Can we agree on this right out of the gate? The biggest winner last night was one Donald J Trump man mad. Then let's have the conversations here from Gary Donald Trump followed closely by Cory Gardner too. Big winners last night. But Gary go ahead. My friend. And the beauty of this talk show is that it is going to be talk show instead of a listen show. Like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Gary, our good friend, Michael Brown. Hey, come on. He's on the big stick. He's on KOA. You got a beef with Michael you can find him there every night seven to eleven and everybody's got their style. But Gary, what's what's your thought on the election? Well, years my thought I I liked just about everything that happened last night except for polish getting elected, and I think that was just a very poor display of a campaign by Mr. Stapleton, but I'm very pleased that there's gridlock in Washington. Just take a look at what the stock market did. And that was predicted. You know, they were what they what Wall Street doesn't like is uncertainty. And now there's certain that there's gonna be I hate to break it to you. But there's not gonna be gridlock in Washington because there's Donald Trump in Washington. And there's so much he can do with without the house. So there's not going to be gridlock. I'm just glad he got some of the big legislative stuff through when he could find a little gridlock is not a bad thing. The less legislating, the less, the less regular regulating that these guys can do usually the better off my life is I will say this that. Not only can gridlock. Be a good thing under certain conditions. I'm hoping that the GOP remembers that they were once once upon a time. The party of limited government, and is thinking about making some cuts to that trillion trillion trillion twenty trillion dollar deficit. That's the debt two trillion dollar deficit, though is it's a little embarrassing under a GOP watch. Jerry. Thanks for your call. I didn't like the cheap shot at Walker Stapleton because you didn't back it up. You can say anything you want about anybody on this show as long as it's true. But you gotta back it up or pack it up, and I've copyrighted that by the way, Kellyanne here with capless in Kafer. Great to hear you guys. Thank you. I grew up listening to you with my dad will let me give my rocking chair. Hey, thank you. Appreciate that shot. The truth hurts, but I've got it. I just want this on the record. Now, I feel better now. And and I am better now than when I was twenty one, and I was not sick at twenty one. So age is usually just a mental thing. I have better hair than I did then anyway, what's up? What do you think last night? Well, I I'm very very concerned. You know, I've been disappointed and sad before when when raider one then when Hickenlooper run, but now the whole list is in charge. I am sincerely scared. Why do you think's gonna happen? I think that our I mean, our taxes that are obscene. Now are all our fees are really taxes, but they call them fees are just going to go out. They're just gonna go blow off the roof. I mean, they're they're going to be never ending. I mean first thing I heard from now, we're gonna get, you know, childcare or daycare taking care of and take great thought. But how much is that going to cause? How much is Medicare for all going to constantly Colorado? But but remember fortunately in Colorado, and and you're right calendar. There are some ways around this. But for the most part in Colorado, if you're gonna raise taxes, you gotta take it to the people, but don't get me wrong. And that's what they you know, they can circumvent things. I think you bring up a really good point. But Taber is a little bit of a break. We'll see what happens. Well, here's here's what we know. Right in all fairness, total objectivity what we know is that leftist, ideas, don't work, and and this was a takeover of Colorado. Make no mistake about it by the left, not your your father's Democratic Party by the left, leftist, ideas, don't work. So the only question now is how badly are we going to be hurt? And in what ways. I think it's about it. Oh, sorry. I scared about I understand, you know, learning a hard lesson. But I'm I'm barely. I mean are expenses now to live are so obscenely high, and I don't need it to get worse. And and that's what I'm scared about. And the last point I wanted to make I'm sorry guys. The last really concerned about how people are voting people voting based on people's popularity people are voting on their gender alone. They're voting on sexuality alone. They don't actually know what they're voting into office. And it's so frustrating killing appreciate the call, my friend. Don't get scared. Get energized. That's what we saw last night come on. Now what we saw last night. There's so many silver linings here. Because in a lot of ways it could have been a lot worse. I mean, we, you know, the conservatism lost across the board the left one across the board. But the margins were not that high now and some seeds can be taken back. I would say we had a Blue Wave here in Colorado. But in other parts of the country was more like a balloon on this. And and it didn't have the profound effect that they were predicting a couple of months ago. So we could pick up some some DOP Senate seats, which are a big deal, and you know, to Callan's point there's a lot to make somebody nervous. But when. Never be afraid. Well, and when you look at what happened last night, first of all Colorado is not gone for good unless we're a bunch of babies who roll over and die and give up. I mean, these were what three four point margins across the board. You know, police won by seven, but when you put in twenty three million of your own that's going to be good for another three or four points..
