Musk predicts full autonomy from 2021
"All right so getting into the must interview. This was earlier today. Yulon was accepting the axel award the fifth person to win this award so we sat down for about a thirty minute. Chat or so with axel springer's see up overall. I thought it was a really good interview. I'll put the link in the show notes. A lot of stuff that we have heard before of course but some interesting new insights as well from you on. I think the biggest headline will probably be comments around. Autonomous driving axles springer. Ceo asked quote win. Is thomas driving really really going to happen. And quote and john said quote. I'm extremely confident of achieving full autonomy and releasing it to the tesla customer base next year. And so of course. We've heard comments like this from the past. And we also have this sort of convolution going on between full autonomy and tesla's full self-driving option as oftentimes ilan will talk with that as a frame of reference and talk about win. That option will be feature complete which is not necessarily full autonomy so the actual springer co did a great job here of clarifying that point saying level five relief full autonomy and eline replied. Yes yes and quote so just to clarify what that means that five is defined as the vehicle being incomplete control and it can handle all circumstances conditions that a human driver could reasonably handle so essentially full autonomy. If we step down the levels level four is basically the same except it is only in certain locations or in certain circumstances so you can think of something that is geo fenced or maybe only works during the daytime or when. It's not raining something like that. But if all those conditions are met it can be fully autonomous. It doesn't even need deva pedal or steering wheel and again. The vehicle has full control and responsibility stepping down to level three. This is the middle ground. Where under certain conditions within the drive the car may be able to take over but when those conditions are no longer the case. The car needs to alert the driver to be ready to take over with a reasonable warning period. So good example there is. Maybe it's highway only where you don't really need to pay attention. There's no nag but as your your exit. Maybe the cartels you. Hey and ten seconds you need to be ready to take over control so to go from level to where the driver is info control but has sort of assistance features to go to level. Three is really a big significant step and even with the full. Self-driving beta test tesla has not taken that step quite yet but of course. That's what they hope to be able to collect data four to be able to prove that eventually the system can go ahead and confidently have control needing that driver monitoring if that happens on some portions of the drive. Tesla ben is able to step up to level three. If tesla's confident that that can happen for all portions of some drives that step to four and if it can take over every drive all the time that's level five so ilan feel confident that they can eventually get to level. Five yuan here is saying that that will happen next year again. That would be quite a step up. From where tesla is today as for regulations allowing something like this. You llamas competent that at least some jurisdictions will allow that next year and from my limited research on this. I'm pretty sure many states already do think florida is a great example where fully autonomous vehicles are already permitted and ready to go where nothing would need to change in the regulations to allow a level five operation of course many other areas could be more strict and the regulation. And it'll sort of get phased in. I think over time if this is able to be achieved

Tesla Model X, Model Y Recalls iIsued
"There were recalls issued for the model x. And for the monowai by the national highway traffic safety administration for the model x. There was just an issue with a cosmetic advocate at the front of the roof just behind the windshield for the model x. That if the adhesion process was done without a primer could be at risk for flying off at high speeds of travel. It's a says this could potentially impact about nine thousand vehicles model x. vehicles produced from september of two thousand fifteen to july of two thousand sixteen. And that nigga is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from this condition as for the monowai. Nitsa says that four model is produced between august twenty eighth and november sixth. There were four hundred and thirty seven. Four which manufacturing records could not confirm that the front upper control arm was probably fastened to the steering knuckle so that just needs to be confirmed or corrected if there are any issues and that's again says they're not aware of any accidents or injuries from that condition
interview With Dennis Crowley Co-founder of Foursquare and Creator of Marsbot
"Okay. Dennis crowley welcome to the voice. Podcast thanks for the beer. Yeah it's really good to see you again so we were just talking before we got on the bike in the video here that we met very briefly. I think we talked for about ten minutes after voice. Camp by beta works. Which i believe was june of twenty seventeen hundred times ago. Who has a lot of things happened since then and that was fun. I mean yeah. Companies like jovan came out of that. So there's a lot of listeners to my podcast very familiar with jovo and egg voice. I think was there as They're doing really well in the in the custom assistant space rag culture so that was a really Really good event. Very early on is reputed. We're starting to build custom assistance. And you're on stage. I don't remember exactly what your Your comments and prognostications were. But i'm sure they came true. I think we were talking about Voice skills at the time. I think i let alexa was opened to you. Know building your own voice skills. And i think we were. We force for likes learning with like. Should we make something there or not. Yeah and you'd never did correct. We did we made something for actually made something for google. Whatever google on google home google. Now whatever it's called sugarless assistant yet but we we. We launched them but we never really promoted it. I don't think. I even know it still works to be honest. We saw very williams at with that stuff as it's tough because you really have to say a mouthful just to get the thing to work like. Hey google assistant foursquare this. That's just not what normal people do. You know. That's really interesting So actually why don't we. I think most of the people who are listening are probably familiar with foursquare. But why don't we talk a little bit about your journey with foursquare what that does how that lets you up to the assistant. We'll talk about that. And then obviously. We want to spend a lot of time on mars. Because i think that's a really interesting solution. But for the people who aren't up to speed on the foursquare journey you know what you're what you're quick summary about how you got to where you are because you know a tremendously important company in many ways At least from my perspective And you know really at the at the onset of the bubble revolution in particular. And now we're in voice and you're doing something else in the space so i think it's really interesting. How you're jumping these technology curves. Yeah i mean we've been doing foursquare for for twelve years now and so forth. What has been a lot of different things in those twelve years kind of typical startup journey of trying a little bit of everything until you really figure it out but started as a consumer app Back in two thousand nine audience maybe fifty sixty million users which still wasn't enough In terms of you know running a at canal a product radio ads in the product. And so that's really when we started to understand that the destiny of the company was becoming more of an enterprise providing tools and technology to develop partners providing data a building advertising marketing solutions in robust analytics around types of people have been to what types of places You know really a lot of the things that he saw the consumer equitable to spin those into very valuable Tools and technologies for for others to use and company has has been doing really well since we've really figured out how that business works really changed the company to better serve those opportunities. Yes it was really a social connectivity app. I would say in the beginning. And it's moved into that data location business. Yeah you're you're you're working with enterprises. I will say that i still use the foursquare out. Yes why there's tons of people still use the apps and i think that consumer dna still runs very strongly. The company which i think gives us A unique perspective. When we're building had of these enterprise tools like normally think of enterprise stuff is like oh it's just software for companies but like we approach it as As as you would if you were building it for for end users and i think that allows us to be more thoughtful like more clever with it more playful with it sometimes And you know he was still a team here that works on the consumer apps. Like my my job now is run the the rnd team here which just makes weird stuff with the tools and technology in the most of that we are stuff is meant to be used by end users. Just people that are walking around was was phones or airpods. Whatever

Pets collective a podcast sharing stories of people who are doing great work within the seattle community so then repeat another podcast feeder check out and she is the co founder and pro and producer of the limelight pet project and multimedia campaign shining the light on harder to adopt pets in the people who care for them so markelle we had to pivot and shift just to get on this recording. Oh boy so. We got stories to share before we even dive in. How are you today. i'm doing well. I mean my day started super early. As my tuesday's are a busy day for me. I mean. I'm not surprised. There was a little hiccup your heart. We are yes so for everybody listening watching. This is part of the pivot and shift mini series. And i'm really excited about this about this topic about Talking about this and to get a her insights about what's been going on with her and and how she had to pivot and then went up but before we do that just to share a little bit of the back story about just how perfect it is that this is the topic. We're talking about today when we first scheduling i. I don't know what was going on in my day. But i just constantly. I said okay this this day in time work this day in time and we just kept going back and forth and i kept screwing up and so i think it was like three or four times whereas finally like lock it in is it nowhere changing and it was all my fault and So that was finished so that was the first and the second was. So we've been using then caster to record our podcast episodes because of the amazing audio quality. Give you with your remote listeners. Remote gas rather and zen kester has a beta now where They allow video recording. And it's also remote ver- video recording so you get pretty good quality video and for whatever reason. Her computer is is blocking the beta but not the regular only recording so We moved over to e cam live beta which now lets me to bring in guests. We're the first time we're recording an episode and he can live film hoping things go well We had to pivot and shift just to get this episode recorded so we are here people boy so first question for a half for you on this topic and we're going to dive deeper into this as we get through this this conversation but if you give the listeners a brief summary of of what your photography business was like before the pandemic and how you shifted just a little suburb because we get dig into this. Yeah so i started wanting twenty off with some really big ideas of what i was going to be doing. Especially in springtime. Springtime is my favorite time of year to photograph pets here in seattle. Just the flowers are beautiful. It's just that fresh spring air. Everybody's just so happy and unfortunately things did not turn out the way that i had planned so i had to think on my feet about well am i gonna shrink from this. Am i gonna hideaway. Or am i gonna jump in and create new opportunities to leave my community and and create ways for them to connect through sharing their pet stories. And so that's what i did. I didn't really. I didn't even really rest. I just immediately like okay. I guess this is what i'm doing and and turn went from trying to schedule sessions and events to okay. What can we do online. How can we come together. And and the things we love. Which is our pets. So out of curiosity before all this Were you doing more studio.
MacOS Big Sur Lets Apps Slip Past Security Safety Nets
"Next up mac. Os big sur. Let's apt slip past security safety. That's a new feature in mac. Os big Allows many of its own apps to bypass firewalls. Mvp ends potentially allowing our to do the same thing in the recent beta release apple placed fifty six of its own apps including facetime and apple maps on an exclusion list allowing them to bypass firewalls and certain vpn's without user's knowledge. A twitter user named maxwell. I spotted the problem last month and now developers are crying. Foul according to jamf security researcher. Patrick wardell melwert could exploit the issue to bypass a firewall and to exfiltrated sensitive data to remote server using a simple python script that piggybacks the traffic onto an apple exempted app as of wednesday afternoon apple hadn't yet commented on the issue
Canon EOS RP, The Affordable Full Frame Mirrorless Camera
"So if i put this camera in your hands this one that i'm holding right now with the twenty four to five and i told you it was full frame. I told you it was new. And i asked you to guess how much it costs. I'm thinking you would probably say more than one thousand two hundred ninety nine dollars. I know i would because again a lot of spec for that relatively humble price tag now. Thirteen hundred dollars is not chump. Change for sure. But we're talking about full frame with an image stabilize land so if this were a poker game the anti would be a thousand dollars right. You just the play and so if you're coming in thirteen hundred dollars you have a winning hand like this camera. You're probably sitting pretty already. What i'd like to do is start out talking about some of the features because it has some good ones and then talk about a few the disappointments because there were compromises that had to be made to keep the price where it was and really comes down to a matter. Are those compromises. Something that you can live with or would you rather spend more and get a different camera. That's for you to decide. I do want to frame this camera by saying that. It's really a triple threat. First of all it's a good stills camera raw files in the j. pigs are quite good and i was very pleased with jay pigs out of this camera. The second thing is it's a solid movie camera really as in a lot of the features a lot of physical features really lend themselves to this being a good movie camera. The articulated lcd. For example and then the third thing is that it is compatible with canon's webcam software video conferencing and the software works on both mac and windows platforms in the software has just come into full release. It's out of beta now. And if you look at the specs for the software for both mac and windows. It's compatible with a lot of cameras and is compatible with a lot of different platforms for videoconferencing. It looks really good. I tested it with the. Rpd in the r. p. works great with the video conferencing software. The webcam software. So there's that as well so in terms of a camera for modern times especially at this price tag. I think it checks of boxes so let's take a look at some of the features here some of the highlight features. The first one. I want to mention is that it has a nice twenty six megapixel full frame cmos sensor with the digital age processor. Twenty six megapixels. For most of us i think is a sweet spot Shirts great sometimes having more megapixels but you know this resolution is six thousand two hundred forty by four thousand one hundred sixty that. That is a nice framed work. With right you have room the crop. You can make big prince if you want and the file sizes are manageable. So i i really liked the the six megapixel choice for this camera. I think it's a good one. And the iso. The native iso range goes from one hundred to forty thousand. And tell you the truth. I didn't really think about when. I was shooting with his camera. I just really didn't. I knew it could hamlet now when i looked at the pictures in light room afterwards. I go that was that iso eight thousand that was that iso twelve thousand or you know whatever it happened to be but the images look good and you know i would only look at the isos just because i was curious because i was doing this review. Not because of Image quality so one of the first things out say is a plus for this camera that if you do wanna shoot high. Iso and you don't want to spend a lot of money for camera that can do that. This is one to consider because it does the higher. Iso's quite well all right. Let's take a look at framing sean. In viewing the shots so you have an integrated two point three six million dot electronic viewfinder and then on the back you have a one million dot lcd with that. Very angled design. This is the first thing that we start to see. That really lends itself towards movie making a cannon does these lcd's articulating lcd very well.
MacOS Big Sur reveals Apple secretly hates your VPN and firewall
"Os big sur has exited beta and been released to the public. Despite this there is no indication that apple has changed this behavior Some default apps on macos big sur which remain in beta bypass any network firewall. Vpn connection a user has connected This behavior was first spotted by twitter user amex x. s wd and is more thoroughly explained by security researcher. Patrick wardle according to patrick on older versions of mac os. A firewall could be set up using the network. Colonel attention but on mac. Os big sur. Apple has deprecated the extension which allows for many of their apps to bypass the firewall. Patrick provides to mac. Os big sur firewall examples. Lulu and little snatch so. This is frustrating
Space has a trash problem -- and its getting worse
"With me. Is johnson skillings. One of our copy cheese and the of our latest package on satellites titled signals from earth. Welcome john hey roger so we sometimes take for granted. Space has well allow space. But there's actually a huge amount of trash orbiting earth and that's the subject of the first story in a series way exactly is floating up there a lot and stuff. I mean we think about space is being infinite and it is but then there's our neighborhood right around earth And there are several layers orbit and everything not everything from the beginning the space age but a lot of stuff from the sixties and seventies eighties is still up there and we're talking about rockets satellites and big things like the international space station and then little tiny pieces that have broken off from all those things and so how big of a problem is this. The the sheer amount of stuff. That's up there. Yeah it's it's really big because it's all just spinning around eight skates controlled release trapped by different space agencies by not we do dubai right now and things are going to bump into each other and that could be bad yet. Tell me a little bit about that. Why why is it bad thing as it. Just the potential damage. I mean how big of a problem is it for these existing satellites. Give me a sense of actually. How many lives are up there right now. Year right now. There are a roughly twenty eight hundred live satellites and perhaps three times that many defunct satellites still floating around and not a lot of human traffic there right now going in and out of the space station and for the people for too long there might be some space tourists going out there. So you know. There are people who get into trouble but also a lot of machinery and they're more more salads coming up all the time if there's a sense of how may more we expect. 'cause feels like we're say launching new satellites will explore on your services running off these satellites. What what exactly is sort of the the expected volume of satellites over the coming years. It's a lot. It's hard to put a number to it. You have more and more countries all the time starting own space agencies or saying rockets up then you have commercial space traffic which is not done by the likes of nasa the european space agency. You have private. Companies like yuan musk's space x Jeff bezos and amazon. And all his money going into Rocket projects on its own in space x in particular. They have a new system called starling which is going to provide broadband service to the earth. Eighteen beta right. Now there are about six hundred or so satellites And they're going to be a lot more i mean. Musk has filed paperwork to send up as many as forty thousand of these Satellites are not not be car sized space station size but you know a chunk of metal floating around of their forty thousand is eight a huge number no matter how big or little that satellite is reading this piece and this is by jackson ryan one of our colleagues out of australia. Who is fantastic. These worth reading if the another chance. He talked to nasa researcher. At least cited a nasa researcher who fled the doomsday scenario. Tell me about that right. The researcher is donald kessler in the work. He did start in the late seventies. It's called kessler syndrome named after him in the basic idea. Is that the more satellites or anything else who have floating around in space. The greater the chance of a collision more collisions. You have you're going to get debris more debris brief floating around the maurice floating around and we're chance collisions and you get into this cycle of more and more trash spinning around and just really out of control. So what's being done about this problem. A lot of worrying a lot of thinking about how to handle it but there aren't really a lot a good solution to right now. So some satellites and rockets sly back in earth's orbit they burn up and you know some that can be directed on purpose. Some satellite skid spun into a higher higher orbits andrew out of the way By the are no good systems for dragging satellites space. Picking can't send trash trucks since tweet street. Sweepers around growling. They've been some experiments With things like Basically a big fishing net to grab satellites And even space harpoon to grab him but again you have to be careful because you don't want to fragment you one nice big clean satellite and make it into a bunch of little tiny satellite pieces. That just adds to the problem.
Sybil Attacks on Federated Learning
"Hi. My name is clement. phone. I'm a phd student at carnegie mellon university. Welcome to the show thanks. I'm here so tell me a little bit about your specific areas of study. Yeah so at carnegie mellon. I'm a phd student in the school of computer science. And more specifically. I do research in. Let's say the broad category of computer security and if you wanna drill down even further i mostly work in security when applied to machine learning systems and the security of machine learning systems. I would guess the audience has at least some familiarity with security is being like denial of service attacks and very like rule based kind of system looking at traffic. Maybe not as much machine learning. How does security play into machine learning operations. Yeah absolutely there are many different levels. I think that you can approach the problem. There's the initial idea of just taking traditional security problems. Such as denial service intrusion detection and applying machine learning to those domains just gathering insights from data and learning about them. and then there's the more meta area of making the actual process of machine. Learning more secure has so there's been a wide array of work in the community that has shown how at test time you can perform different tastes of attacks during training time you can perform a tax on the model and pretty much anything in between. I'm sure you're familiar with this phrase that if you're not paying for the product you are the product and i guess. There's some wisdom in that i don't know if it's universally true but people are certainly becoming more aware of that and maybe the off the cuff reaction is. I don't want people having my data because its privacy. But in some sense i would like people to have some of my data. I don't mind having good recommendations on amazon for example. Because i can just ignore them. Where do you yourself. Draw the lines about data sharing yet. So i agree with you that this is a pretty personal choice when it comes to just the type of experience you wanna have with the products. I think i would be similar to you in that respect where nothing comes for free. As you've said you've got to give some data to system to use it and to use it effectively. I think it's a really big area of research in general about ways in which maybe you could provide assistance but do things in a more privacy preserving way so that's a very big area research these days i guess i am a user of most day things. So that's where i would slide. Hundred spectrum makes sense. yeah. I think that's most of us. Perhaps we'll the specific paper. I invade you on to discuss. Today is titled delimitations of federated learning in civil settings so some definitions questions to kick us off. What is federated learning. This is great because it kind of plays into the idea of privacy. A little more federated learning is this new idea in distributing machine. Learning came out in around twenty seventeen developed by google. And it's the idea that you can train machine. Learning models across distributed data sets over the network without actually transferring data into google domain. So previously you'd have the idea that i'm using a service and some server. Let's say that's owned by. Google would be collecting all the information in storing it somewhere on a database and then writing machine learning on that collected data federated. Learning is a different idea. Where instead of storing data on a database owned by google. They actually just do the model training kind of live as it's occurring and there's no transfer of data is just machine learning occurs over the network and that might sound like it's kind of the same thing but when it comes to the problem of data ownership and privacy there's a bit of nuance there in terms of both the privacy and security implications federated learning which is one of the big topics of our paper and when the models being trained. Where does that training actually take place in the situation of federated learning. I guess you could think of the machine. Learning process is kind of just an iterative summation of values. So the training still takes place at work in the sense that you're taking updates to a model like you're learning it by adding values but the values are passed over the network directly so it's still lives in the service domain. Just the data used to supply those updates does not it still stays on the client devices. Gotcha so maybe we take a simple case of something like the logistic regression which can be nicely summarized as just it's beta values just the parameters that were calculated machine learning. Would it be corrected to saying like my phone or my local or whatever looks at my private data calculates that model and instead of sending my data just sends those parameters off to google. Yeah that's exactly right. That's like a really good way. Just gotcha okay. So we're seeing that then. Don't i still have some sort of privacy risks though because someone could kind of invert that and say well. If you're sending us these parameters what's the data that would have arrived at this answer exactly. So there's a whole field of research on privacy attacks on federated learning. We discussed this a little bit in our paper. But it's not really. The focus of our paper ends the idea behind. All these attacks is very much what you just said which is maybe. I can't observe the data used to train the model directly and that provides some sort of privacy but if i can observe the model updates or the beta values as you're saying and observed multiple instances of them i get a pretty good idea of what your data looks like there's some you know mathematical theoretical bounds on how much you can do but in practice. That might already be too much for certain context.
COVID-19 cases hit 1st Caribbean cruise since pandemic
"Welcome back to pass money. Check out the cruise lines sinking. Today's session and there could be some new trouble on the high seas. You're looking at pictures of the seadream. One it is the first cruise ship to set sail and the caribbean pandemic began. A passenger on board reportedly infected with the coronavirus. It left barbados. Saturday carrying fifty three people. Nbc's kerry sanders spoke with one of those passengers about safety measures. The ship was taking to prevent an outbreak every passenger and to be tested before even flying are betas where the crew started and getting on the ship within three days and then tested again at the pierre he went on to say. Passengers were not required to wear masks on board until two days into the trip. This is a smaller cruise line as we had mentioned that this is not a publicly traded one but for anybody who's thinking about a cruise that are going to say take a look at that seadream one that went off and there is one cova case on it. Yeah not good. Well this is something. We've been grappling with this for a really long period of time right. I mean the the whole idea used to airplanes and then people started to get eased back into that and it seems like we are starting to hit numbers again. That are that are at least tolerable but with the cruise ships. Yeah this is something that's been going on and people are all betting on something that's going to be very very positive from a vaccine perspective but wow this is this is certainly something. That's not very pleasing for. I think the rest of the big publicly traded companies publicity disaster for the cruise industry guy. And i'm putting aside the fact that you will. You would not be caught dead on a cruise. Let's put that aside unbiased on the cruise lines because it is viewed as mean this stock viewed as the ultimate the ultimate vaccine. Play right and karen has talked about this. A number of times the way to play a potential vaccine would seemingly is going to be a vaccine. In summer is vis-a-vis the cruise lines. Not the not the pharmaceuticals and she's one hundred percent right. But i think what she would also say is going to be huge volatility from here to now. We mentioned the jimmy cliff song the other day. I won't do it again. But i just wanna point out actually saw this love boat episode a few months ago where i think gopher talks to captain stooping about this. So it's amazing. How are is limited imitating life or vice. Versa melts fascinating to me. I just find it shocking. There is only one person i mean. I think it's going to get worse. Would be my strong guests on this. So if you were to be caught dead on a cruise you gotta be careful about saying that now. I guess given the environment that we're in. I think that You gotta look to delay it post which is obviously very bad for the cruise lines but they do have some cash to survive
Vansilli talks about CS and trying out Diabolical
"Our next guest on the centering East sports podcasts has been involved with the scene for a very long time before it was even called E. Sports, believe it or not please welcome to the show van. Silly guys. Thank you so much for having me. It's going great in some kicked in for the past two days. So I'm like a little bit groggy here and there, but still super excited to be part of the show. Thank you so much for having me. You've been. Go ahead tell us about I mean he you've been pretty busy. It's okay to be a little. For sure for I. Think I think as we're GONNA talk about him I'm I'm assuming very soon is. Valerie Valerie has been keeping myself busy, not only just trying to follow the scene, but just trying to rank up as well because I I feel like to this day even though I've been in the scene for such a long time for sports, you still have to prove yourself to the community so I don't want people to go like, oh should caster kick w what a bad castor you know so I I need to bring myself up to the diamond platform at least and then hopefully immortal at some point. It's cool that you mentioned that I wanNA actually touch on that for a second say. been casting for a long time right? Not since what two thousand and three? Thousand two, thousand and three. It was my first ever event I started really dippy my toes into it in two thousand and two with quake three urban terror. So we're we're going way back at that point you know. So we tim and I both played quake three. Urban terrorists. Okay. Okay. What what is urban terror I in another interview you? Yes. So it could actually it was the the MoD for quake three actually helped me transition over to counteracting duty one when those came out because urban terror was kind of like. A similar version of action quake with you guys played quake. quake. But if not, you could compare counterstrike with with some bunny hopping, including stamina and sliding. So it was a lot of. You had to buy weapons. So they were they were actually Actually, had to choose weapons instead of buying. So you're allowed to choose for example, let's say you go end for each one of them had little perks, and if you chose certain perks than it would nullify getting certain type of equipment, she could banish your teammates by budget holding caps lock, and then the the they're able to go off way but the damage internal organs shot in the leg or no body or head has that type of damage. So it has that type of hit. Boxes. So you really have to be good and in terms of aiming for the head to to make sure that you kill Vassar but the the same style is still very counterstrike he where it's like a five five or six six but you bunny hop across the map and plant bombs on onto different sites, and of course, the opponents have to defuse or you have just a regular team survivor. So it's just like within a timer, you have to kill everybody at a certain point. Survivor played coming from that arena shooter world. ANY INTERESTING DIABOLICAL I've been playing diabolical with like the first Beta came out I love it I'm I'm really not good at it. Actually I'm good with the I'm with the the what they call the rocket launcher I forgot what the they have different course but the one that's like the rail gun holy crap. I'm not good with a really be more like when I play to increase I was all about rails but now I just can't hit anything I. Think I got that boom that funny hit me but. The boomer foul yeah one hundred percent I still I still love watching fatality play I still love watching lex play and de can play as well and of course, they're screaming a lot and you see a couple of local tournaments or smaller tournaments with like a Dang and all them playing him to just to be able to see like PS PSB arena ps instead of being quick champions what they tried to do I'm just happy to see a different style or that style comeback with diabolical to what quarter cle the routes used to be for for quick. Do you think the arena shooter will ever come back in a big way. With diabolical I think it will to be honest like because when when you when you used to launch a for example painkiller or quake three, CPA, it was all about how fast people are moving around the map in how good they were in terms of aiming but also predicting where your opponents going to be because you have to control the rail, you had to control the Rock and you have to control the items. There's so much mental timing that goes into playing a repeat that people don't really understand the the whole concept around good you have to be to be top. Notch in arena ps but as a simple spectator, it's so much easier to follow. Because now you know it's a one vs one. You know who you're following your when you're looking at the screen and you know basically the concept of He needs to pick up weapons he needs to the other guy you look at the HP, you look Winter GonNa, pick up armor, and then you know that there's going to be like the whole time or kind of thing what I like about diabolical in the dual into dual range in what the ad is the i? Think it's called Golden Kill or The last kill. Agar's should have something. You have to basically within a ten minute timer. If you're actually destroying the guy that tarmac goes down a little bit faster, and then once it gets to that timer, the wouldn't lead still has to do one more kill to secure the win. So there's still a chance for the second person to to make a comeback into the game and hopefully win a sudden death overtime or something, which is great because back then again, when looking quake three and you're looking at. Painkiller it's like if the guys by five enters two minutes, left users hiding for the rest of the map and he's just GonNa win by time. Even with quake champions just with this last quake con championship like the forget the guys who were in the finals like the guy was up by eight kills and it was like. Yeah. Exactly. It's super boring. So I think that adds a nice concept and a good little changed uranium ps where I think I think I could actually get pretty big I. Mean you have some big names that are still support and behind it like I said like Didi keys in there and and I'm a digi wheat lows playing it similar it from time to time and he has like it i. mean it's it's produced by good studios and two good has been very, very, very much involved with with sports in his in his days. and His career as well. So I think I think they have the right people to try to push into the next level.

SpaceX Starlink to go South for first time with planned deployment in Texas, west of Dallas

"To a close. dodie admitted to Benowitz that the entire Dulcie base was a ruse. But BENOWITZ didn't believe in. Meanwhile more was wracked with guilt over the benowitz affair. In nineteen, eighty, nine, he came clean about the Benowitz story at a UFO conference. He wanted to warn his fellow UFO researchers and explain to them just how far the government was willing to go to keep their secrets. But some weren't sure more was telling the truth they suspected his tail of being yet another plant cover up of a cover up. All in all the official story leaves much to be desired. The strange hovering lights over Kirtland have still never been explained. Nor of the cattle mutilations that swept the area during the nineteen seventies and eighties. And the undoubtedly expensive disinformation campaign the government undertook doesn't quite make. It all seems like an elaborate way to prevent the Soviets from accessing American intelligence. Next time we'll look at exactly what Benowitz reported in project. Beta. To that end, the conspiracy theories will cover our theory number one, the MJ twelve, a shadowy government organization really did exist and they were responsible for ufo contacts and cover-ups. Theory number to the United States government conspired with a million 's in order to gain access to their technologies. Finally, in theory, number three will explore if aliens actually are experimenting on Humans and livestock to understand life on earth. If, so perhaps, Paul Benowitz was onto something after all. Maybe we do need to prepare for extraterrestrial domination. Especially if the US government has no intention of taking the threat of an alien invasion seriously. Thanks for tuning into conspiracy theories. We'll be back Wednesday with part two project Beta for more information on project. Beta, we found project Beta, the story of Paul Benowitz, national security, and the making of a modern ufo myth by Gregg Bishop. Helpful to our research..

"It's another episode of Tech Talk Radio I'm Mandy. Taylor. I'm Sean Too Weird and I'm Justin Lemme back looks like Broadway. Today. said he was going to be here. Oh, Broadway's too busy screaming. Have you, chicken. I actually have he was streaming his chicken coop for awhile and then he was streaming like watching another twitch streamer, and then he was just kind of like comment over the Stream. So I mean, he's he's extremely active I mean he's really putting in the work into channels the I get the notifications on his twitter feed that he's doing it. He's using re stream. So he's streaming to like all the platforms I'm following on. So when he goes live I, get like five notifications on. Yeah. I get it. John's live. Now. He straight is did he get Microsoft Flight Simulator Twenty twenty? Did he do that 'cause? I'd always been doing he's been doing the little inflatable people which which is. Fog is everybody loves that game? Yes yes. Everybody loves fog is that it really honestly just took the gaming community by storm. It came out what Sean like two weeks ago. It's probably by the time the show airs three maybe just under a month old. Yeah. Okay. And and when it came out, it people like literally overloaded the servers the first day. Had A shut the game down. Yeah, I played at the day launched. It was okay for it was okay for a while but then it was noticeably laggy and then you weren't able to connect and then kept getting kicked out after one round or when you're getting your experience points and then it was just it was just a mess for a couple of days after that for those. Guys it's a, it's a new game out on a PC and it's out on playstation for that's the only two platforms. You can't get it on switch you can't get it on Xbox. It's a battle royal, which is that what what you know everything is now call of duty and all that other stuff fortnight they're all battle royale. Everybody, versus everybody but the way this works there's no guns there's no violence. It's just a bunch of funny little. Inflatable looking characters and you basically have to race to the end of a map and I. I don't know forty out of sixty people. Go go onto the next round and then each round more and more people get eliminated until the last round I think there's five rounds total the last round there's one winner and that's it. I mean this is a fun little party game. It's kind of like Mario Party in a way it's a mix between. Mario Party and the ultimate wipeout show that was on TV. Yes. You have to do these courses you have to jump over these. Devices that are spinning trying to knock you off the map and people are the characters can grab each other and there's this one map that's called rollout where it's these different sections of the map is basically one big cylinder. You're standing on the edge of the cylinder and it starts to roll and there's different sections you have to jump over walls knocked into gaps you have to stop. It's really fun. It's a simple battle royal game. That is has of really great replay ability and it's very family friendly like I said, there's no guns there's no violence there's no blood and Gore it's just a fun party game. It's like you said it's like Mario Party now, how does how does somebody get somebody listening right now and they they play on maybe they don't have a console. that. This game is mobile on a mobile device no. No. So currently, it's only available on steam or ps four and steam is something you can download for the PC platform and can you Esteem available for Mac. Yes it is. Okay. Cool. But there's there's a limited selection of games on the MAC I don't know if all guys is available on steam for Mac. But it might be i. don't know what the price is. Sean do you know what the prices? One thousand nine, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty some bad. It's not bad. Yeah and it's like it's like Sean said it's got a lot of repeal replay ability. And they introduce seasons so they'll definitely be. New Seasons, there will be maps levels there will be new maps, things like that, and what I like about this is also there are a couple of team games in there. So if you're skewed by yourself. You could do a free for all game. There's one called slime climb where you have to run up the hill covered in slime. Nazia. But then there's games like hoarders right thirty, five balls that drop into the map and you have to try and get those five balls years your team's side of the map. Right. So there's not not not just single. Not just solo play. You also have to work as a team for some of these shirts. You can have people that don't know how to play the game and you're just starting out. In your teams yeah. It's people are getting stuck teams that are either they don't know how to play the game they're throwing the game or they're just working against you. So, there's a lot of. Develop. There's a lot of developmental feedback. If you go to their twitter page, there's a lot of the developmental feedback that is. Positive but also a lot of negative feedback. This will help them to make the game even better than absolute which. That's pretty cool because like I said it looks so basic and I've I've I've seen Broadway playing it, and I didn't really understand what was going on. It's just a lot of running around and is it is running running and jumping. Yup. Basically kind of the the key to to a good game. I don't know well, I know that you guys and I still haven't gotten it yet and I'm Kinda. bummed. Have Been Playing Microsoft Flight Simulator Twenty twenty I know over the last year weeks you know for a listeners that don't do games we've talked a lot about it, but it is a groundbreaking game technology. Wise. Everything that I've been reading since it's been released since people have been playing it they're just blown away by how great the graphics are. Really.

"His he and his daughter they they both play video games on k. they love it and on Apple TV win win. Multi profiles support came out. Oh, he was so excited he he set her up with her own screen so that she could get her own TV. Shows TV, so show suggestions, music suggestions and all that stuff, and it was really great, and then she went to play some apple cake games, and he had to sign out of apple or arcade on his profile, so that she could sign in to apple arcade on her price profile totally ruins the experience so frustrating to try to use a second account and chrome. Why did you try? Yeah, what's the point it's? It doesn't do what you needed to the fact that they're bringing that I think is really good. I also think that the updates for home kit or are pretty good the like. Viewing of home kit secure, video cameras. So I'm getting. My first home kit supported video camera. I can't pronounce the name right but. Y You. Thank you. you feel they're. They're sending me a a one of their home kits for security camps to test out so I. Really look forward to using that alongside apple TV because that is kind of the thing I have a ring doorbell, and so if somebody rings my doorbell, I have to pick up my phone. I have to open the APP have to tap on live view and at that point that poor person has waited. Ten fifteen seconds and I haven't even gotten up because if somebody I don't want to talk to. I don't want to answer the door. I'M NOT GONNA like walk up to the door until I. Know that it's that it's semi on the door for so I love the idea that you can just get this little pop up that like your doorbell rings or you know you get the motion sensor. It's I don't think there's any home kit. Compatible security cameras that are also Dr Bells, but you could at least get your notification onscreen. Somebody has approached your front porch. You can see who it is that way by the time they ring the doorbell. You know all you already know whether or not. You want to go open the door. So that's pretty nice, and what's really interesting in a tight to the larger sort of updates with home kit? Is there Apple's doing like securely stored facial recognition. Through through these hunkin updates, and so it can recognize people who are door, and so you can get you know you can get a pop up on your apple. TV You might also get a notification through your home. Hot through your home pod Ooh, so you're like in the kitchen when and comes up to your door, your pod could actually announce you know. Your best friend is at the door. Yeah, you know I love this. You know emily the door whatever? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's so great! I can't wait to try this out. I'm very excited about that. I have not actually updated to TV OS, because for similar reasons why I don't put the developer Beta on my apple. Watch I. Don't have a spare, so my apple TV is my main, but I will be using it to to test out the developer or the public Beta because I think. In this case, just because of the work that we do, I'm willing to take the risk in order to like you know test out the features and see how they work and talk about them. Universally start living with them. If you want to write about them, yeah, exactly you just got. I mean personally the biggest change for me and TBO has fourteen is they've updated the design slightly of the Control Center, so it's more in that sort of floaty design rather than just a shade that comes over part of the screen. Yeah, that's just data and they've added to it right because right now. The only thing that you can do if I remember in control center is switch accounts, or or turn off Apple TV. There have been some controls in there. for wild like changing sound sources and seeing. On the in the I haven't haven't even paid attention to it. I pay a lot of attention to control centers. It's a hobby. Will I'm glad you're here to give me more information so so you can also just You can select speakers right. Here's what if you WANNA? If you have a pair of homepage, which like I do I have a pair of home pod set up right over here. The I liked to connect to my apple TV to watch things like like watch things through the TV because the youtube APP is, that doesn't play Nice with homepod. How why? Restricting just. System something system standard Google. Police That's that's what I ask. But yeah it. Use It for that. Also speaking of sound, they have updated the the volume us Ui on Apple TV. It's now more like the new one that they introduced for the iphone last year where it's a tiny bar that goes up the side of the screen. Hey, instead of covering porno. Yeah Yeah, that's Nice I like that today so actually that that makes me think of something so my home pods. I'm the same way I have I have a pair of home pots that are connected to my apple, TV with left and right Stereo and Basically it works fluidly when I'm watching an itunes movie, or if I'm watching something in the TV APP. If I watch Netflix or Hulu or an APP. In. Youtube is out of the question, no matter what it won't work with joke with yeah with the others what will happen is like it will lose its connection. I have to go back in and Reece not not recent. To pull down the the menu, Click over to speakers. Switch it back to the to the air. Pods are.

"Beta and I think. What this is probably what this probably has a lot to do with is people are looking for. less than official channels. Data's. Right and this can be a problem for things like data security. And malware. Right yeah? So. Walk us through the step so far. Is it the same thing as if you were to download and install the developer Beta? Essentially except you're going to Beta apple DOT COM Instead of going through the DOT. Com Yeah Yeah so so you just go to bed at Apple, Dot Com Click Watch Os, and then when it's of and you do this all on the phone that is paired with your Apple Watch. That's very important. You can't just download the profile anywhere right and the phone has to be on the Beta I you you need you need. I. Think you need the latest Beta. To get the like I think you can't be on Beta one. And then update to the watch Os Public Beta when it's available I think you need be on. The corresponding Iowa's Beta. So if it's like if watch os seven Beta. Comes out, it would be I always forcing bid to public Betas to you like if it comes say. Could some point today. You need you need either developer. Beta two or public Beta one which are it should be noted the same built of the same Beta build so Beta to Beta to public Beta, one are the same So you need one of those, and then basically you tap the. Download profile button is going to appear. And then you're whisked off to the watch, APP on your phone. You hit install. An agree in some to hit a stall install and then agree and then. You then you want to restart your Apple Watch. Actually you'll get a pop up request to restart your Apple Watch. Just hit the button your watch a Lotta medically restart comeback. Unlock it then you can download in an install the Beta either through your. Apple Watch because that. That's something they added in watch sex, or what's probably the better solution through the watch APP on your phone because you have to open up to watch on your phone anyway. and if I'm not mistaken you, your watch has to be on its charger. So yeah, you need the walk on the charger and the watch needs to be at fifty percent charge already. So keep that in mind if you're at work when the the watch Os Beta comes out, and you get all excited about it. Don't shy. Because you unless you've got a charger for your watch at work, but Time. Enough tie does take away to be stuck there while you're waiting for it. You can't just decide to leave. Yes, you gotTa do all that with Wi fi all the good stuff, so yeah. One more thing. Excuse me. I'm to mention is that. We the like the Betas are very stable right now, and that's really nice. Last year they were a hot mess in a disaster, but just as a reminder, just because the first version of the Beta is in good stable condition. It doesn't mean that Beta to isn't just wreck your device, so keep that in mind when you're. When you got that Foam Oh, and you feel like you WANNA update. You're only iphone to the Beta virus fourteen just because it stable now doesn't mean it's going to be stable in the next time. I just have to like really hit home. How important it is to not do it and if you really are going to take that risk, make an backup up so that you can downgrade if you need to whatever Beta you're downloading, no matter how stable and this also goes for standard software updates, so keep this in mind. It's going to be a hot mess when it comes to the battery. I first download. Because it's got an index a lot of stuff in the background. You know things like photos and files and all sort of stuff so just. Have a charter handy and give it like. Our show, it is really hard. This is the one I haven't had that. pull to download much as I have for this one I actually was like. Waiting like what am I really did? I can't. I can't lose my phone, right? I can't lose my phone I. Have to have it. People that are like in dire need to reach me, I can't have it messed up, but every time I get a phone call and the phone call hijacks my screen. Unlike Unlike all no, maybe! It, okay. I know that this one's working really really well. There haven't been a lot of problems and that I see a cute little widget I'm like. Bloody, hell. I really do wanted like I really. This one is one that is just gonNA. Give it like I. Get so angry when you're doing something and something of a phone. Call that choice Reid denied do I. Wait to a message to them, do I. Is the is that the one like the the hijack of your of your your phone screen? Is that the one thing that's making you WANNA switch over? That's your biggest new feature that you're excited about. Yeah I think that it was and I. Think it was Rootin- truce beforehand. Right leg like talk like it made me angry that life you know. Here's something that you're doing something and then, if like someone's like I'm shutting you down, you can't do anything you're GONNA. Have Way you don't want to answer it.

"Ww DC and data. Season is upon us every year. I, <hes> I, him in Haw, and I always install all the Betas usually. We don't cover them a lot. Until <hes> the we're closer to release, but because of this year that changes are so significant, and people are just so interested in the stuff that <hes> Steven and I, both kind of made a point to go a little crazy with Beta installs <hes>, and we've been using them now for a weekend. I thought it'd be fun to report how these features are working and. And given. This is Betas with some of this stuff could change, but you know. Let's kind of dive in deep on it I will say you've gone a little deeper than I have so the pool right I'm swimming in the pool. You did a cannonball from the top of your house into the deep end. Oh, I did I. Did I I wrote a post in the payers forum saying Hey Steven I've gone a little crazy with the bait. If you've got questions, let us know and a team. Oh, wrote crazy like install watch os Beta. And <hes> one of us did I'll give you one guess. Not, me. Like I had actually Rosemary. <hes> went in that pool I I said well. Did you watch blow up anything? She says well when I wash my hands at once crash, but otherwise it's been fine, and like you know it and also I feel kind of cavalier this year because I'm home, not traveling. <hes> if if my phone gets to messed up I can always unwind. The Beta I'm. Home doesn't matter that much so I. I didn't feel that bad about it, so so let's just <hes>. Let's list the devices right <hes>. What have you got? The BETAS installed on, so I've got the Beta on a external SSD that. I'm booting my macbook pro from I, need my fro some later this year, so I'm not willing to put the bait on at directly yet. And running it on my I've had many other. My leverage IPAD PRO is probably going to succumb to it. By the time this episode comes out <hes> out of my phone, and the definitely not my Mac pro <hes>. The this machine is where I make my living, and it will stay on Catalina for some time, but yes. I'm playing with it kind of getting my. Getting in the pool. I spent more time with it on the Max I've got thoughts around that, but. I want to get back. Somebody said a second ago. The interest in Beta cycle is way higher than it normally feels like. And maybe that's because a lot of people aren't home. Life's a little bit slower now. It's because like big Sur in particular is a huge change having we just on your iphone. Who Change like there's a lot of things that are really attractive about these Betas. Wherein some years it's like yeah, it's better, but you know. You can live without it for three more months. Some of the stuff people want to really experience now. Yeah, agreed. And <hes> and there is kind of some themes to these Betas as we go through it. In the show today I started with the Beta on my is because I have two IPAD pros because I'm that guy so I started with a on the big IPAD pro and it was running fine, and then it quickly cascaded over a couple of days. And I put it on the laptop, so I had big Sur on the laptop in it on the IPAD. Then <hes> suddenly I had it on the second IPAD I had on my own. I also put it on my Mac pro because we have a the way. The recording situation is right now in the sparks headquarters. Has You know there's there's four people living in fifteen hundred square feet and <hes> so? My studio isn't really where I'm recording shows where my I MAC PRO is. It's where I do all the edits and all that stuff, but I'm not doing the recording there <hes>. My old studio has been turned into my daughter's. Daughter's bedroom, but we have an extra in there, and that is the kind of recording machine I'm sitting at it right now, so my fancy Mike and Everything so that one is not upgraded or or running Betas, but but but the all the others should Max. The to Max I own are and then a few days ago I. Put on the watch, too. Because I as I told Rosemary and the automakers. If it breaks, it's her fault. But it's you know so, I, I've been reading on everything. This one thing that you may have heard in the news is these are pretty stable Betas I. think partly because wwe came later. This is more like Beta or Beta three in normal year. That being said do as we say, we do. Don't don't know these. If you need to get your work done Yada Yada Yada Yeah. I, mean they're still developer Betas. At this point, you have to have a developer account. The Public Beta will be in July. That's when they're more widely accessible and usually in the past. At least it's been to developer bills for everyone public Betas so. Developer Beta two or three be public Beta one and there'll be a couple of developer builds and then. A couple more puppets, this sort of tiktok approach, and just because this Betas good doesn't mean the next one will be in fact very often. They get worse before they get better. So yeah, do what we say like. Let us take the pain and you know if you have a spare me, shake my head many if it bursts into flames, that'd be sad, but it's not the end of the world. Then <hes> yeah, I think it's fine to play with on that, but definitely out of production machine now something you need for work because you can this situation where the you know, it's always like the one happy really need the one workflow you really depend on. That's the one that's broken for months. That'll get you.

'cause that is gold right there are people all right so the one a forget is something that has laid staked pledge typically between two parties on the outcome of a contest or a contingent issue. Synonym is wager and this is often used figuratively in such phrases. As all bets are off to stress the uncertainty of an outcome one be the act of giving such a pledge. I'll be there not during these times of self quarantine to a to maintain with or as if with a bet to be to make a bet with to see to make a bet on and then we have one in transitive definition to lay bet. Now we have the third form of bet. It is an abbreviation for the word between so. Would you pronounce the Abbreviation as beat? I don't think so now. We have the Word Beta B. E. T. A. It is the I form and all of the rest of the words will start with Beta. Yeah Alright this is chiefly British. This first one. It is a noun from the fourteenth century. Is I think this is the Greek letter Beta it. Looks like a be like a capital B. In our English alphabet but the bottom left part of it sort of is a tale. That goes down now. We have Beta Adron Beta with Hyphen. And then a D. R. E. N. E. R. Adra Nordic. I pronounced that correctly. Maybe I betting it my God. All right. Because she's not letting out any juice urine. Okay. So but so that's that's a that's like a known way of p aggressive women expressing attraction so, and you. I'm sure the woman who is no. You have seen this happen before. Right? I'm sure you've seen this in the wild. A woman who's aggressive, has a crush on a man and he's aggressive with your her. So maybe you're thinking that that's what's happening here with you with him to and you. But from heme perspective, she just likes bullying you because she perceives you as weak. And she thinks a momma's boy, I have one of two responses to beta boys one right. I was I was polite on Oscar beta boy out of all the all the all comedy pushes you've had on the show. I'm the beta Boeing, yeah, ridiculous. Doing rain room. What are you doing. Eight. What defines the beta position? They keep fucking pushing you keep coming back for more that I keep coming. Well, I enjoy the comedy. I think you guys are very funny. I find you very entertaining creative. Maybe that's why I give you the license to go as far as I know, and it's super fun. So that's so that's one responses to fund response shoe. Right? One is just I'm just gonna, fuck, ignore you. And that's it. I don't wanna even way what see now I'm even further confuses you mean as a podcast or as a sexual as a beta boy as a beta? Boy, I still I still feel like the judgment is out as to whether or not I'm a beta boy. So if you could stop referring to me officially as a beta, boy, I'm not saying that I couldn't be defined at that at some point. However, the facts alpha. The yourself is? No, I'm in. I'm somewhere in the middle, but I don't think I'm a beta for sure. Definitely not a dirty word. No, it sounds like a positive. Yeah, you're right. No, with especially with the way him those saying it and also the way it's been referred to as a beta bitch, I feel like that takes some of whatever positively might be in the beta title away to a significant degree. I don't think it's necessarily a positive. No, I don't think I've ever heard it referred to necessarily as a positive or something. I think there are positives. I think that in a relationship is again a yank and sure, and so- beta doesn't mean that I push you all the time. That's just me, but you know, it could be a good complement, ten alpha. I've yet to hear it sound as a complement compliment as a complementary pair. I generally date more beta men because I am pretty alpha in my. And everything about her personality, and I compliment was somebody who has none of these none of these traits. And yet when as a negative trade, I like more subdued people because if there was two of me in a room than everyone would be dead, so I will take charge and live life and then I'll have a bitch with me. No, no, because beta can still take charge and live bait. I think I view as someone who does not have to trick definitely start as negative because alpha used to be the standard like the gold star of masculinity back when and I think it's toxic masculinity is is what we're referring to. My man has to be the breadwinner and jacked in get so many bit. Like I think I don't work out and I don't pay for shit. Yeah. Does that make you a beta. Yeah, I, I mean, Keats Keith flipflops Keith kief thirty define yourself as alpha beta seeing is apparently those are the only two options. So for one to you never know where I'm coming from. I think the way I feel about myself at times. Yeah, I didn't keep this usually the alpha in the room, but in relationships, you take the beta position because you you don't want to on certain things. Yeah, and not in a bad way in in the way that..
