So i had a friend in Nassau this is a long time probably forty years and he had a boat and i had used for the boat. I use for zeke call. They won't let us work on the boat while we figure out where the money for the fees which really figured overnight we would liberate the boat. Take it over to florida. So i called a friend of mine. Peter in for flew down. We rebuilt a top or peter. Rebuilt the top half the engine and we got it so it was working. We went on down to a hotel one night and they wanted to sail the next day. And i don't think that's a good idea because i hit her on the radio that there were small craft warnings from the next day. I still putting now. We gotta get the boat out before the stores so we went down to this One of the big hotels on beach stole a dinghy sailed on over to the rubber inflatable things road over to the the marina voiced at the anchor up and set sail The boxer cuban cigars and bottle good tequila active saying. I don't think it's a good idea not stealing the boat. I was okay stealing vote. That was all right. But i wasn't okay with the small craft warnings out. There was out out outside. The harbors or the triangle begins It's one of the you're in the middle and the But you know. I'm along for the ride And going out of the harbour. I pointed out to zeke. Nobody wants near this guy. He has the worst luck in the world. He's taken this huge fall. And jason gets old and every day goes out then he sits by the argos and relives in his mind his glory days and one day a plank from the argos falls off and it brings them and he's dead all people remember. Jason was what a stupid death he had. So i walked through the woods. And i see all these fucking redwoods loaded with ticks and everything else. I think this could be a stupid way to dine. We get carded the hospital in in this process by daughter and i used up about thirty thousand dollars for the medical stuff Here's where we made. The mistake was what we should've done. We realized how serious it was the newest the amount of the uninsured motorist wise. We should have petitioned the insurance company asking for that followed reimbursement once for you realize once back i was i realized they were kind of not hesitating about paying out dog. This is a series of it is so hard he's the framing of er told us about. The accident was so so so what happened on ways over petition insurance company for a hundred thousand dollars reneged on there and say quite wait. Wait wait wait. What wh- what was that word that you said we. Can you say that can use that word. No we're gonna we're gonna have to check on that But a gone. At that point i should have filed a lawsuit immediately. Asked him for that hundred thousand dollars and the reason i say that is this so as progressed out two or three years. I realize now that they're trying to protect paying out that last thirty thousand dollars because their minds. I already get paid for the car. Wait wait wait wait wait wait. Hold on you said they. They saw they saw what in in their minds. I i don't think you're using the term properly the minds. "We have a story like this. Yeah i mean the one. I did last. Time is a lot like this one. Yeah and that's where we were like. We should just go ahead. And do the bermuda triangle. Yeah 'cause we have come across it so much anyways. So for decades. Bermuda triangle has captured the human imagination with unexplained disappearances of ships planes and people and other phenomena located off the southeastern coast of the us in the atlantic ocean between bermuda. Florida and puerto rico. The region has become. It's known as a region of unexplained mysteries but the area seems a stretch as far as the magic nation will allow. also. The devil's triangle has been blamed for the disappearance of thousands of people in the past decades. The term bermuda triangle was first used by vincent gaddis in nineteen sixty four in an article published in argosy magazine but the earliest mention of the area was in nineteen fifty and nineteen fifty article published in the miami herald by edward van. Winkle jones edward vending winkle jones. Okay that's tongue-twister tears later. Fate magazine published see mystery at our back a short article by george sand covering the loss of several planes and ships including the loss of flight. Nineteen a group of five. Us navy gunman tbn avenger torpedo bombers on a trainee. mitch mission. Sands article was the first to lay out the now familiar triangle area where the last took place as well as the first to suggest a supernatural element to the flight nineteen incident. So and i'm gonna get into flight. Nineteen a little bit later on. Nineteen alone would be covered again in the april. Nineteen sixty two issue of american legion magazine. All right and then in february nineteen sixty. Four vincent gaddis wrote an article called the deadly. Bermuda triangle in the pulp magazine are saying flight. Nineteen and other disappearances were part of a pattern of strange events in the region. The next year gaddis expanded this article into a book invisible horizons. So this is when the whole legend of the Mita triangle really start to take off explanations. Okay you can both talk about this Explanations for occurrences in the bermuda triangle. Run the gamut from a scale of scientific to aliens. Yeah do you wanna talk about those now or you wanna wait until the end after. We've discussed all the weirdness Wanting to talk about the scientific ones first and then we can talk about the weird ones later. Okay so one of the things that people talk about or as an explanation as to what's going on is comfort competent comp- grew we're definitely drinking today. Folks all right compass variations compass. Problems are one of the cited phrases and many tr- triangle at incidents while some have theorized that unusual local magnetic anomalies may exist in the area. Such anomalies have not been found. Compasses have natural. Magnetic variations in relation to the magnetic poles a fact which navigators have known for centuries magnetic north and geographic. True north are exactly the same only for small number of places for example as of two thousand and the united states. Only those places on a line running from wisconsin to the gulf of mexico. There is some evidence to suggest. The bermuda triangle is a place where magnetic compass sometimes points towards true north as opposed to magnetic north. So that's one explanation and then another one. Did you run into this one. The gulfstream No i don't know you'll have to talk about because it may be under something different than what you have. Okay and other is the gulfstream. The gulfstream is a major service current primarily driven by thermo. "The three massachusetts towns of abington rehoboth and freetown exist a triangular slice of land. That has become home to hundreds of reports of unexplainable phenomenon. It's known as the bridgewater triangle though. Some call it the black triangle or the devil's triangle. It might not be swallowing up. Fighter jets and colonial era ships like the bermuda triangle to the south but its history is just as storied and mysterious. One of the areas within. The triangle is the hawks swamp. It's a seventeen thousand acre wetland near bridgewater massachusetts in the sixteen hundreds it was inhabited by the wapping noah tribe of native americans and the fort. They built inside. It became a strategic location for them during king. Philip's war in sixteen seventy four one legend details how during this time of upheaval and invasion by the colonies. A powerful artifact was lost in the swamp. now. I can't find anything beyond a small wikipedia entry to confirm this but the story tells of how an object known as the wadham belt was lost during the war and as a result the swamp became the home to restless spirits. Ever since the swamp has been the source of nearly endless supply of unexplainable sightings one of the most dramatic and best documented reports was made by local police officer. Sergeant thomas downey on a summer night. In nineteen seventy-one downey was driving toward the town of eastern near a place known as bird hill that sits at the edge of the swamp as he approached the hill he caught sight of an enormous winged creature. Downey claims that it was over six feet tall and had a wingspan of almost twelve feet. After reporting the sighting to the east police he quickly earned the nickname of the birdman about you but it seems odd that a police officer would risk his reputation on such an unusual claim. If it was just a joke officer. He clearly saw something that night. Just what that thing was of course is open to debate

"Something happened where you know. He had a tailwind he maybe he was flying through some kind of storm and there was a tailwind that was you know. Really pushing them along a lot quicker than you would normally fly in with his instrumentation malfunctioning. He he wouldn't know what is ground speed was in anyone who doesn't know tailwind is when you're flying. There's there's usually either a tailwind or headwind headwind is when a plane or a airline shut is the flying into a wind that's blowing towards the plane so it's slowing the plane's ground speed down. A tailwind is wind. That's blowing with you and it helps the the plane airline jets sometimes can get to their locations a little faster use a little less fuel when they have a tailwind so maybe he flew through some kind of crazy storm that you know sped him up a lot quicker than he would have normally flown. Sure i mean. I guess that's possible but yeah that's a logical explanation of what happened but but yeah that's a really interesting theory and i've seen a show on that one to electric fog no matter what was happening. That beta going on or if that actually happened to that would mess with you. Yeah i mean if he truly was in some kind of severe thunderstorm that we had so much lightning and things like that to make him think he was in some kind of tunnel vortex that would be shocking. That has survived that. But yeah Interesting theory right so we will move on to another. There's a lot of paranormal ones. Cover here. They're all good though when in doubt blame on the aliens right so ufo's although their motives are unclear as they always have been. It has been suggested the aliens have chosen. The bermuda triangle a point at which to capture an abductor for unknown purposes. Actually does make sense if that's the most trafficked area and you want to pluck people out of the ocean. Yeah that's the most efficient. I guess you're away from land. No one can see you and everyone's going there. Yeah you're not gonna go to lake. Montana you're going to go where everybody's at or even just going to the middle of the atlantic ocean you might see a sheep ship thousand miles or whatever but yeah aside from the lack of evidence for this theory we have to wonder why the aliens would take whole aircraft and ships some of which are considerable size. Why not just subject abduct the occupants of the same way they are said to take people from their homes in the data night so there really isn't any stories to corroborate that otherwise other than people saying i see bright lights or whatever that is a theory that dude from ancient aliens probably believes is the number one reason. So we'll go with that and has to be on the list. No and i think. I i don't know joe. Have you seen the documentary on amazon called the phenomena. I have not you get a chance rented. It's it's a couple episodes like a bunch of different episodes. No it's it's one single documentary and it kind of covers the last from pretty much roswell to current day and the interview a lot of -tary and government officials including you know the old Harry reid who was the Majority leader in the senate at one point who has been leading effort right now to get a lot of this information on. Ufo's released to the public. All i want to see that. Because that stuff i do believe in. I'm saying i don't believe in regarding to the bermuda triangle just because there's no evidence of it but he didn't that that is really director came out that high level government official that retired came out and said this this is really fetched so i don't know what to believe this. But he made a statement like that aliens exist. They live among us. They meet with us on mars. And there's yeah there's a federation and the basis on mars and we've going there since the sixties or something like that. Yeah i mean. I i tend to think maybe this guy probably maybe missed missed as it is but like the thing that makes it crazy as he's the at the level which would know that i think that's what gave it a little more credibility than like you know like bob. Lazar has been proven correct and a lot of the stuff. He's come out with but like he was just a lowly contractor that supposedly worked at area fifty one. Where's this guy. Like ran intelligence for israel as yup. It's all real deal. I urge anyone who you know is interested in reading more about u. f. o.'s. It's i don't know what to think. I think i like. I said before you know. Show me evidence. Be more evidence than you know. Just some really grainy photo that could patriot episode. You'll fall. let's let's patriot episode and recent your you'll fall relevant revelations because the pentagon releasing saying yep division on ufo's and we found material not of this world or yeah like ships. They use the word ships. So like there's been some pretty exciting stuff that has been blowing our minds that i don't think is getting as much attention as as it should so. I think we should go patriot episode on it. I would urge anybody. Who's interested in that topic. Start with this documentary. That's on amazon. Prime it's called the phenomena and you can rent it and it's very interesting. It's well done and they do interview a lot of people that i would call a credible sources you're talking People that are were in the military in the military people that were up in. You know the. Us government They interviewed a guy. Who was deputy secretary of defense or something under barack obama. So you've got you know. Harry reid the speaker of the senate so you got a lot of really high ranking people that i don't think there's a benefit to them for coming out and talking about aliens and ufo's because exactly it's probably detriment to them to do it. Yeah and a lot of these guys are wealthy individuals you know. They're not doing it for money and they're definitely not doing it further reputation because even if what they're saying sounds believable. There's gonna be a good chunk of people that think they're just crazy. Yeah so yeah. It's a really interesting documentary. They don't talk anything about the bermuda triangle. But if there's weird stuff going on in the brand new triangle or anywhere on the planet just like the guy from ancient aliens with the crazy hair you know. ufo's are always mentioned so yes to more paranormal ones. Okay and then. We'll talk a little bit about the paranormal so atlantis so some believe that location for the legendary island of atlantis is in the area of bermuda triangle. They say that atlantans were a civilization that had developed amazing advanced technology and somehow remnants of this technology is still active somewhere on the ocean floor. This technology they say my interfere instrumentation on modern ships and planes causing them the singer crash. Proponents of the idea. Site the so-called binny road rock formation in the areas evidence yet. There seems to be no evidence for the advanced technology except perhaps for the incredible claim of discovery. Made by dr ray brown in one thousand nine hundred seventy while scuba diving near bar the bari islands in the bahamas brown says he came upon a pyramid like structure with a smooth air like stone. Finish swimming inside. He found the interior to be completely free of coral analogy and was eliminated by unknown. Light source in the centre was a sculpture of human hands holding a four inch crystal sphere above which was suspended. A red gem at the end of a brass rod..

"Episode eight. By the way if you've listened has the same florida aziz at play that 'cause you know everything joe described including all the strange feelings that people in the area experienced so it may be you know might be a real a real thing that happens especially that we have these several areas in the world on this planet where a lot of strange disappearances happen so yeah correlation does not always mean causation. But there's always clusters where these quote unquote for disease are so. Yeah so yeah. That's an interesting theory. I think at some point someday we will know more about that absolutely The next one is magnetic variation. This theory was proposed by the coast guard over thirty years ago. It states the majority of disappearances can be attributed to the area's unique environmental features. I the devil's triangle is one of two places on earth that a magnetic compass does point true north normally appoints towards magnetic north. The difference between the two is known as compass variation a number of variation changes by as much as twenty degrees as one circumnavigates the earth. If this compass variation or air is not compensated for navigator could find himself far off course in deep trouble so that's for people that don't hike use maps. There's a delineation that when you look at a map you actually set your compass to say. Hey you're needles going to point to magnetic north but magnetic north isn't directly on like we're the north pole is it's yeah it moves actual magnetic north earth is always moving so they update maps. And you have to adjust your compass. However they're saying this is one where magnetic and true north are perfectly aligned. And now you also have that in what is now vile vortices potentially and you could have again navigation. Is i think this goes into that. The flight nineteen type stuff. And maybe even this guy on his boat if they're using magnetic compass to navigate. I yeah i think the this magnetic variation probably explains a lot of the disappearances in the premier a proven thing that happens in the bermuda triangle that compasses Don't work correctly. And if you don't know that you like joe said you you know maybe those planes to compensate for that and when they tried to fly back to base when they're getting on fuel they want you know the wrong coordinates so i think that's a very logical explanation for of these disappearances. Yeah if you're supposed to be going one hundred forty miles west and you just one hundred and forty five hundred forty miles east instead. That's a that's a big difference. As far as getting back to land or even having people find you i think So this is a big one. space time warp. It has been suggested that from time to time. A rift in space time opens up in bermuda triangle and that planes and ships in the unlucky enough to be traveling at the time are completely lost in it. That is why it is said that often utterly no trace of the craft not even a wreckage are ever found so this was an x files episode. It was i remember it. Molder went to this location. And he got warped back in time to like a nazi ship in the late thirties or something. Yup i do remember that one. So i don't know i just said but that's pretty much the only context we can have to that being story. They took that story and turn it next files episodes so yeah. I think this one's obviously pretty far out there. I think maybe a logical explanation for things never been found. Is you know like like. I said early on a the burrito triangles very deep in spots so potentially something goes down and it gets down into one of those deep spots of the ocean and they just don't find it the ads down into trench somewhere covered by Sediment and yeah. What's what's crazy though is 'cause they do the sonar stuff now to find wreckages and things and a lot of times they. They searched in that area. And don't find anything either. Which is it'll be interesting. As technology continues to improve to see if they slowly uncover stuff like they found. Amelia earhart's plane just only a few years ago and that solve you know that was one of the big ones that everyone thought she just disappeared in. The bermuda triangle. Turns out she crash landed was on an island somewhere probably living for a little bit before she perished so it's hopefully over time with new tack as we get better we start uncovering some of these things and then we'll find out some real answers. I mean i would love to wake up one day and to hear on the news. That space time warps are real thing. That would be so cool. But i think you know logically kind of person. You gotta show me evidence. And then i'll believe i think i need to see evidence for first before you know throwing my weight behind. Space time warps. You know who did that. Best was the treehouse. A horse the surface up or they uncovered the native american skull opened up that space time warp to another planet where everyone everyone just through their garbage in their aliens and the other world loved all earth's like reject stuff they're like they're praising the microsoft zun for an mp three player and it was genius. Good matt groening. Yeah right so another one electronic fog so the question is electronic. Fog responsible for many of the unexplained incidents in disappearances that is the assertion made by rob macgregor in bruce german and their book. The fog gern himself as a first hand witness and survivor of the strange phenomenon. On december fourth nineteen seventy. He and his dad were flying. Their bonanza eighth. Thirty six over the bahamas in route to And i think is off of bermuda. I think so l. Look it up all your talking. Yeah look it up. They encountered strange cloud phenomenon. A tunnel shaped vortex the sides of which the plane's wing scraped as they flew so it actually made content like physical contact with this tunnel shaped vortex all of the planes electronic and magnetic navigational instruments malfunctioned and the magnetic compass spun inexplicably as they near the end of the tunnel. They expect to see clear. Blue sky instead. They saw only dull greyish white from miles. No ocean sky or horizon after flying for thirty four minutes. A time corroborated tot time crop by every clock on board. They found themselves over. Miami beach a flight. That would normally have taken them. Seventy five minutes mcgregor and gern believed the electric fog that and experienced may have been responsible for the famous disappearance of flight nineteen and other vanishing aircrafts and ships ships. So they experience and this is again another x-files whenever someone's adopted there is that time to lay so they in their account flew through. You know things like a vertical tornado. You know a tunnel of war tax that the edges their wings were physically touching if they got too close to the edges and after only thirty four minutes completed a flight that normally take seventy five and they ended up over miami beach so he kind of like a like a almost a mini space time warp. Yeah they they went forward in time. You.

"Should have done a little show. Prepped looked it up but but even look at it this way to your point. Even if it's unthinkable and start thinking they have life preservers they have the it seemed like he had the because he was a cautious yachtsman. I'm assuming like when i go on boats i've gone with you where you have like safety beacons and things like that like lights that can even if you get in the water you can still make people known your so. I'm imagining that. It's it's nighttime. Because they said they just lost the christmas lights so if they have any light or flare of their own it be seen from a lot farther away at night than it would be during the day so it almost. You'd think it'd be easier to find them. So i'm looking at a picture of it and it looks like so. It's a twenty three foot long luxury cabin. Cruiser kinda reminds me of the boat from gilligan's island. Okay but it so. It's you know a decent sized boat we. There's a lot of this kind of a boat on lake. Geneva from where i'm from and i just can't unless it was like cut in half i just can't picture a boat like that singing and twenty minutes completely. Yeah it's gonna take some time especially if the weather conditions it sounds like the weather wasn't You know there's no mention of you know issues with the weather. So it's not like the caesar super rough that day or there was a lot of rain coming down or lightning or anything like that. I mean i could imagine maybe in really heavy seas you know with high waves and a lot of wind that may be a boat could well. And here's the deal though. Here's the deal. We assumed it was sinking already. He just reported that he hit something and they needed a tow. Yeah so he didn't even report that like were sinking. Were you know mayday mayday. We're going down. It's it's always a hit something. The damage wasn't too bad. But we're going to need to be towed back in and they dispatched immediately. You know it's nine o'clock at night. They're sending up flares. What happened in that twenty minutes from that his com signal out to. It's completely gone. Now yeah and you know if he has to ditch the boat. Why you'd think you'd send one final communication the coastguard blake. Hey my boat's sinking. Were thrown life jackets on and jumping overboard exact them so yeah it. It's another crazy case of you. Know why didn't they communicate that you know it was sinking. I guess maybe if it was something really sudden they wouldn't have time to to send that radio message out. Well how about this. What do you think about malicious intent. Yeah i mean. I don't know anything about this This guy but maybe he just trying to think of possibilities. I'm not saying that was brown. I'm trying to think of a reason. Why veto calm you know. Did he misreport location. Sale those things and that's a good point. I didn't think of. Perhaps he sent the wrong coordinates to the coast guard and they went to the wrong area. That yeah maybe that could be also and they were just adrift out there. And yeah even though. They searched the whole area. And it's nighttime in with lights. I feel like it'd be easier to find. Like i think during the day would almost be harder if you're like combating the sun with communication unless you bright yellow raft or something like that but i feel at night if you have flares and lights and beacons and stuff in in like a flotation device like raft or something can jump on. It might be easier for them to search for you yet. I don't know it's just. That's a bizarre one. And obviously to the stay. They haven't found him or his boat. Who knows where it is all right. So let's get into some of the theories. I'm going to start with the paranormal ones and then kind of go into more scientific ones that You covered a little bit in some of the fact so the first ones and this okay. This one always falls under paranormal. But i believe there's some scientific back into the vile vortices theory so fourteen researcher ivan. Sanderson suspect that the strange see in sky phenomena mechanical an instrument malfunction and mysterious disappearances result of what he called vile vortices. These are areas. These areas are places with extreme currents temperature variations affecting electromagnetic fields in. The bermuda triangle. Wasn't the only place on earth where this occurred sanderson drought elaborate charge in which he identified ten. Such location locations precisely distributed around the globe five above and below the equal distance from the equator. So i personally believe there are areas like this. That are real. I don't necessarily subscribe to exactly what occurs there but even a buddy of mine that one of the guys that climb kilimanjaro with. He was just out in nevada. Doing some side by side stuff out in the desert and they were in an area where he said that they were doing stuff and he just felt weird when they're in this specific city like used riding doing stuff in the desert. And he's like i just. My body felt weird all this stuff. He's like and then. I won new storage talking about like trying to get mad at like tylenol. Ibuprofen and one of the clerks brought up there in one of the locations where these valve disease occur. And as soon as he left the area he felt better so he was. He was getting odd feelings a which are attributed a lot of times with these areas before he even knew he was there so it wasn't that confirmation bias of a placebo. Yeah you know. Maybe feeling better after he left could have been but because he knew about it then but still. There are these areas where compasses seemed to kind of way out in just strange animals act. Strange gravity's even a little bit different in. Nobody really knows why so. That is paranormal. But i still feel like there's some shred of scientific evidence behind it. The interesting thing about this. And i i. I don't know if i want to believe on these. I mean your explanation of it sounds legitimate to me. But we we mentioned this kind of phenomena in the alaska triangle episode. So a lot of people believe that that area of alaska that we covered.

"That's kind of it. I mean have that wrong. But i think exiles touched on the bermuda triangle couple times in the series and i think that was kind of my initial fascination with it. I've always watched documentaries on it but so like we said in the The open the bermuda triangle is this imaginary triangle in the atlantic ocean and the three points. The triangle are miami. San juan and bermuda now the vicinity of the bermuda triangle is some of the most heavily traveled shipping lanes in the world with ships frequently crossing through to the ports in america europe and the caribbean islands cruise ships and pleasure craft regularly sail through this area too. And there's a lot of commercial aircraft to fly over it so in one sense. It does make a lot of sense that there would be a lot of disappearances in an area. That's heavily trafficked kinda like how most accidents occur within a few miles of your house and yeah has nothing to do with where you live. It has to do with the fact that you're leaving and coming back to that area most often but as we get into some some interesting disappearances and the the weird phenomenon that people think going on. I think there is more going on here than maybe you know. Meets the eye but so it's a large area. The total area varies from one point. Three million to three point nine million kilometers square kilometers. And that's about five hundred thousand to one point five million square miles so it's a very large part of the so the here's some little history for the be may triangle. The bermuda triangle was given this name by writer. Vincent gaddis in nineteen sixty four. He came up with the phrase while writing for the men's publication magazine called argosy still. He was not the one that made this region famous and gave it. Its international notoriety Charles berlitz was the one that did that. He was a man whose family was behind the extremely popular language learning courses so he was obsessed with the paranormal. And believe that was real and was connected to the bermuda triangle. He talked about this theory in his book. Fittingly titled The bermuda triangle and it became a bestseller after that huge burst of popularity many other media outlets started to talk about it and the mystery became common knowledge and anybody who watches the history channel discovery channel any of those kinds of channels. Know that i know it's it's like every six months they'll have a new show about the bermuda triangle or in our top secret thing that we can't mention that occurred. That's going to have a thing happen over this topic. I so hope we can announce that soon. I know how obscure was that but there you go so you know. It's a big patch ocean. There's not much more about the location profile. But i'm going to go into some fun facts here that you may not have known about the bermuda triangle which is kind of crazy to think of stuff. You don't know about it because it's so prolific through. I didn't know most of these. I didn't know some either elliott five listed here. But i didn't know most of them so our first one facts christopher columbus ventured into this area back in fourteen ninety two his journals noted that his compass had unusual spins and he saw fireballs in the sky when he was in the triangle so obviously in fourteen ninety two they. They didn't call it. The bermuda triangle yet but even back then they were experiencing issues with their navigation. A fun fact number two according to some scholars william shakespeare's play. The tempest was based on real life. Bermuda shipwreck so that's kind of interesting are fun fact. Number three It's one of the deepest spots on earth in fact. The underwater topography of the area could be a factor in the history of disappearances. It goes from made shankly's sloping shelf to an extremely deep drop off. Some of the deepest trenches in the world are found in the area of the bermuda triangle ships or planes that sink into these deep trenches. Probably will never be found so that does make logical sense for why a lot of these things aren't found for It's just really hard to get down there to look form so fun. Fact number four. The area has one of the highest incidences of ufo sightings and alien abductions have been a popular explanation for the disappearances. But the abductions aren't the only theory some believe it's a portal to other planets so You know watch out. If you're going for a sailboat. Ride in the bermuda triangle. Keep your keep your eyes up. Yeah so our fifth fun fact is. Scientists have discovered large concentrations of methane gas due to decomposing organisms trapped on the ocean floor. The methane accumulates as superconcentrated methane ice. And if a pocket ruptures the guests surges up and erupts on the service without warning. If a ship is in the area of of the blow out the water beneath it would suddenly become much less dense it could sink and sediment could quickly cover it up as it settles on the sea floor so that is a really interesting fact. And i've i've seen a tv show on that before. Jared models of what can happen to a boat when it pops up. Yeah pretty terrifying. Think of it almost as like a like a sinkhole on land but in the ocean. Yeah that's crazy. yeah it's it's terrifying but So those are just a couple of fun. Facts about the bermuda triangle. Joe now is kind of he's going to go into the timeline of some interesting disappearances and then the the fun part where we talked theories yes so for this episode. We're gonna coverage of some of the most popular stories surrounding the bermuda triangle. And we'll talk about both the possible supernatural explanations as well as the scientific community's theories regarding odd occurrences or what could have happened. Then we'll leave it up to you the listener to decide so the first one we're going to cover is the story of the. Us cyclops is ac. Four was the second of four colliers built for the united states navy several years before world war one so collier's like a shipping ship. Essentially they carry cargo. The incident with cyclops resulted in the single largest loss of life in non war in the navy. I think to this day still so the ship was carrying a full load of megan's or and one engine with one engine out of action. Action went missing without a trace with the crew of three hundred and nine aboard sometime after march fourth nineteen eighteen after departing the island of barbados although there is no strong evidence for any single theory. Many independent theorist Blaming storms. Some capsizing in some suggesting that wartime enemy activity was to blame for the loss. In addition to of cyclops his sister ships the Produce and the nearest were subsequently lost in the north atlantic during world war. Two both ships were transporting heavy loads of metallic or similar to the one that was loaded on cyclops during her fatal voyage in all three cases structural failures due to overloading with a much denser cargo than designed is considered most likely caused for sinking. So it kinda throws a theory out there. Mike what do you think happened to that one. We're going to get into major theories later but we'll we'll kind of stop on each one and you can give me your quick opinion. Yeah you know that one is tough. So i was looking at pictures of it. You know. it's a pretty. Massive ship had a large crew on it. And but you know it sounds lake it. Was you know loaded to the max. So it was probably loaded to the capacity that it can carry..

"Is in the middle of these three cell phone towers that is growing up everybody's maps. That is what is sending everybody to his house. So, of course, he's called the three different companies who own these cell phone towers, and he tried to see if you can get them to come out and fix it. Like T Mobile. He reached out to them. So when I got in touch with them, they said, Oh, well, these towers are all run by contractors. So we don't handle questions about this. You need to reach out to the contractor running the cell phone tower and that you know of some generic email address that I emailed three times and nobody got back to me. Even if Mike's right about this Bermuda Triangle theory, he still screwed because none of these phone companies are going to talk to him. In fact, nobody wants to talk to you about this. I tried to get in touch with 18 to you who makes their wireless router. They said. You know, you gotta talk to the FCC about that. When we reached out to the FCC, they said, no. You need to get in touch with carriers and the device manufacturers everywhere. We've gone government entity Corporate, you know, business, local law enforcement everywhere we've gone. It's just been a lot of shrugs. A lot of that's not our problem. You've got to go to somebody else. Nobody wants to take ownership of this problem. Maybe this is just like a simplistic solution. But if they thought about just moving, that's exactly what I said to them that if they were made, I would just move, but they can't They live in this house because they can afford to. They've been priced out of neighborhood after neighborhood and they've landed here where they can afford it. I mean, they said that neighborhood is basically just them and then, like a lot of older folks whose kids moved out and never came back, Plus, if they did try to move then they'd likely have to disclose this insane. Our house is haunted by technology story to a potential buyer. I mean, I wouldn't buy that house. I wouldn't either. So they're definitely stuck here. Leaving is not an option. So we talked for a while. It was just one of those conversations where I kept suggesting things like to try this. Did you try this? They tried all the things and I felt useless. So finally, at three PM, no solution in sight. We decided Take a break. E want to go get a slice of pizza. E thought about the house. We'd spend all this time talking about this problem that was literally invisible. Like something was beaming from somewhere and landing in the wrong place. It was frustrating was so intangible, so I drove back to their house and I parked the car. And you start to wonder about the block itself. Was I missing something was the answer somewhere in these houses, so I got out of the car and I started walking around and here's what I saw. Two thirds of the block was just houses like Mike and Kristina's. He's nice one or two story family homes, small, well kept yards. But then every maybe fourth house was just utterly destroyed and abandoned like missing roof missing exterior walls, copper stripped out Then you like that story you see, like a nice house wasn't really cute lawn ornaments next house foreclosure papers now to the wall if Ellie to neighborhoods were trying to happen at the same time. So, for example, the house three doors down from Mike and Christina's, So this is the house like three doors down. They were stone steps up from the curb, and I walked up the steps and immediately I was like knee high in this big, overgrown yard front yards help rambles. Then I get to the front door. The front door just been kicked in. The windows were boarded up. There's like some shoes and bag. That is filled with what I think is just Pieces. Then there's a middle and he went into the house. Whoever had been there had moved on like it didn't seem like somebody slept there last night..

"The way was fine. Eighteen other things went off line. What why do people have there been any like when seeing what well I guess my question is if it's true that other places in like the ocean have the same amount of disappearances wide people talk about those. The. Same Way about this. You know what I mean. You're really you're. Really GonNa hold that aren't you? But that's what isn't that the just the numbers no I mean I. Don't I don't I didn't pull up any like stat starts but I will say that that is that is an argument people make when they are trying to disprove the Bermuda Triangle. So you're valid endure sense I just have no idea right I don't like. EARHART disappeared and they couldn't find her. Right. But but but what I'm thinking is like Oh but what I'm thinking is how it's like how how they're not able to find. Wreckage that's that's the thing that is so weird to me how they're not find any evidence or any wreckage That's what's weird I mean I feel like people are. Not Finding Maybe. But wouldn't you think they'd find did it I don't know I think it's weird I think that other people don't talk about the other like airplane crashes and other parts of the ocean probably because they make more sense and they can find wreckage me. mm-hmm. Anyways about twenty minutes later later, the lieutenant sent his last transmission saying that they were completely lost and the navy sent out a pair of P.. B. M. Mariner flying boats to rescue them, and then one of the what are the rescue? Disappeared off. So while it's believed that the Mariner Shortly, after its take-off the remain. So the Mariner is the the rescue boat some people that it just exploded right after takeoff the remains of the Mariner and it's thirteen crewmen were never recovered. Wow and as for the fate of flight nineteen, the final official Navy report literally states quote we are not even able to make a good guess as to what happened and.

"As of now of the Bermuda Triangle like, do you have any background with not really just that it's like a place where ships get lost and people die and stuff and it's in. One of the addams family movies billy talk about or I think the second one I? Don't know I, just remember it says he had without the only for some reason. That is so funny. We Joan cusack I think it's just like a line I. Think they just met Oh. Okay. Love. Someone is like in the Bermuda Triangle vacationing in the Bermuda triangle or something. Remember exactly. But yeah, for some reason I remember yeah the second one. I. Think with Junkies Salvat. So for those who don't know or for those wanting a refresh, the Bermuda Triangle is a triangle shaped section of the Atlantic Ocean roughly bordered by Miami Bermuda and Puerto Rico. The triangle is said to be the site of an oven uncommon amount of disappearances of ships and planes although many are quick to point out that the amount of disappearances did not occur more frequently than any in any other high traffic areas of. So. Yes why? I will say I will say that it's it's quick to dismiss it as that. But once you hear everything then about to tell you I think you might I think there might be a little bit more of a gray area. Although the name Bermuda Triangle wasn't coined until nineteen, sixty four, the earliest recorded account of spooky things happening at it dates back to Christopher. Columbus we're not gonNA tell a story because screw that guy in but I instead I will cover one ship story and one airplane story for balanced sake. So the first story we're GONNA go first the first story is about the US. cyclops. Largest fuel ships of the time it measured at five hundred, fifty feet in length and had a crew of three, hundred six. And it had a successful track record of traveling through the Baltic Sea, the Caribbean and Mexico however in nineteen eighteen, the cyclops disappeared in the triangle seemingly into thin air and even weirder is its last dome message which was weather fair. All well. So the last, the last message received from this ship was whether fair. All well. and. Then where did it go? No. No one knows. Anything about it right we'll get into it. So anyway, two of the most haunting parts of the ship's disappearance are one the fact that nobody on the ship sent out any distress signals and to nobody on board answered any of the Rayo calls from the hundreds of ships on in the surrounding area and more than one hundred years later, the fate of the ship as well as location of it's possible wreckage both remain unknown. So not only did like no one knew what happened then no one to this day no one has happened. No one knows where the wreckage that is, and I'm saying like but doesn't that happen a lot in the like ocean like with normally. But I feel like you recover that the wreckage or at least or at least like signs of one of the three, hundred, six crew people on the trail. Those people think happened like something St. We'll we'll get into the. But Eighteen slurred..

"W we're asking. Let's do it. Okay. In one, thousand, nine, hundred, nine, a church by the name of First Baptist was erected this place. Had it all stained glass windows bumping acoustics? Basically, it was the it girl in terms of turn of the century. Apparently the acoustics of this was so good in fact that the sermons. And Church music could easily be heard from the way out into the streets hardcore evangelism. Angeles made more efficient. That's what here he added. Bring him in let him here if you if you can't wear them in bringing the word to them. Yeah, and that's what this place is doing singing it and they will come however early in the seventies, the congregation decided to relocate and the city acquired the building initially intending to demolish it. But since it was like old even back in those days, that show was not gonna fly in the community. They were like not down. So a group of community leaders rallied and the church was instead restored and renovated into a theater and it was acquired by the Spirit Square. Arts. Council and Mercedes writes that she couldn't figure out why it was called the spirit square but it sounds fun in spooky, which is like so funny Yeah Spirit Square I will say it is it is It is it is. It's if feels like a deliberately spooky way to go about naming anything but I will say that I also think that it's probably something bullshit like like Oh. Yeah. He's got a lot of spirit. He's got a lot of jazz. You know what I mean like it's probably like something like that. You know that right? Right right like actual ghosts or something. Yeah. Or like spirit like school spirit like towns, Spirit or something. That's true. That's true. That's very true. I doubt. It's ghosts by at this point, it might as well be named after ghost because of this homicide haunted Bermuda Triangle that everyone talks about So then they decided to name this theater after Lewis mic glowing, which luminous what am Moon an aside about loomis the space was named after him because He. was a crazy talented composer and pianist native to North Carolina and the whole state is like very proud of him and for good reason, he's because he's very talented. "We've got a a real conundrum going on in the United States. Where somewhere around thirty percent of US have been able to continue our jobs working from home? So you've got this. Nearly third of Americans who did for the most part go to offices now working from home and employers are trying to figure out how they bring people back well. Big Employers are basically saying. We're not bringing anybody back into our offices because we're too scared there. We're going to spend the next ten years defending ourselves and lawsuits. So here's the back story. What employers fear is that people will come back to an office environment. Develop Corona virus have long term health problems or pass away in either case people would then turn around or their heirs turn around and sue the employer for failing to provide a safe environment that cost a loved one his her life or that individual worker cost his or her health so employers face a serious challenge. You know one of the things that is a Bermuda Triangle for employers is. How in the world do you make people safe using the bathroom? I mean nobody is able to go to work for eight or nine hour shift and not go to the bathroom and the bathroom is an area where keeping it safe from. Infection for people is very very hard in the office itself. You can create Might say for environment by having people work. Different shifts by reducing. How many people were a lot of employers are putting up plastic shields like those plexiglass shields like you may have seen? If you've been out and about and stores where the round cashiers there will be those plastic shields and so creating conditions it reduce the risk but employers still are afraid so they're working the halls of Congress very hard right now to get a liability shield past where employers if they follow ultimately this is kind of how would work. They follow a set of prescribed guidelines issued likely by the. Cdc is what's been bandied about Centers for Disease Control that they would have a corona virus lawsuit shield from being sued for making somebody ill who has lifelong health problems or dying from getting corona virus. It will not exactly be an easy thing to figure out where somebody got. It who've got corona virus but employers are really really worried about what is referred to in legal circles tail. Risk that that you would end up with the liability that will go on year after year after year for what would happen to somebody coming down ill with corona virus. I don't know how Congress is going to ultimately act on this. There's strong there's a strong push among a number of Members of the Senate to create a blanket immunity and the initial soundings without even requiring following guidelines that will never fly but the reality is big employers account for roughly half of employment in the United States. And they are not worried necessarily about your safety or your life. But they're worried about their wallets and that's why you're going to see a full court press over the next couple of weeks to have that liability shield in place. There's another reality though. Employers have found to their surprise that people's productivity for the most part has been just fine with people working remotely working from home and I think it's clear that this is going to change things. Four potentially a generation that it will be much more accepted as something that people do all the time or a significant amount of time that they do work from home remotely. Whatever you WANNA call.
Why did Trump delay his response to the COVID-19 outbreak?
"But the Associated Press recently did a good round up story about how the trump administration basically procrastinated for months before acknowledging you know the gravity of the situation that we're facing as a nation and the article and I'm gonna share that with you in just a moment it answers a lot of the what questions you know how they blew it and how trump kept saying no there's no problem in the going going to play golf at all there's no problem in going to playing golf and there's no problem and then going and playing golf and until finally I was like oh my god there's a problem and suddenly fox news does a pivot so fast that Sean and entities head is spinning so dancers all those what questions you know what trump was doing what the trump administration was doing that article doesn't talk about about others talk about how the U. S. chamber of commerce was lobbying trump not to do anything essentially certainly not to use the defense per talksport production aggregate a bunch of democratic senators writing it just a rip them a new one letter to the chamber of commerce saying what's going on here so we know what's what we don't know where the why is why would the trump administration B. this callous in their disregard for the lives of Americans why I you know I I just I I don't know the answer the question and maybe we can crowdsource the answer I mean you know why did trump procrastinate for two months was he trying to squeeze a few months of extra revenue out of his hotels was it that he was watching fox news and they were saying there's no problem and so he was saying there was no problems of products was quoting him saying there's no problem and then he was hearing himself being quoted on fox and so we really thought there was no problem in other words and evil dead leave feedback loop between trump and fox news had they had opened up at it and they just like you know like I did other like a giant whirlpool huge war tax into the Bermuda triangle I it just sucked the whole thing down into a black hole is that what happened where is he creating a deadly right wing media and feedback loop that we even went beyond fox news you've you've got all these right wing radius shows and hosts you know up until last week Rush Limbaugh was saying that this was a hoax and that it was being promoted by the Democrats to take down trump I was a server is billionaire bodies so that Wilbur Ross and the guys in this cabinet Betsy device they're billionaires Wilbur Wilbur Ross were three billion budget was worth five billion they have a lot of money in the stock market was he tried to give his billionaire buddies time to unload their stocks you know like Richard Byrd did R. Kelly a lot for the the two Republican senators who attended a a security briefing that said this is going to get really really bad really really fast and they sold all their defense stocks and a killer lawyer you know the the wife of the president in York Stock Exchange actually well according to some reports of what stocks like Citrix that would be good for you know working from home and perhaps Richard Burr did as well I mean these these reports are all kind of scattered right now we're just we're just starting to get the information but was it to help his billionaire buddies was it because he knew that it would hit it hit the economy I had to cut it to the economy that that it would hurt his reelection chances any thought maybe just maybe could just lost bluster is way through this I mean he's done that his whole entire life right it is lies and B. S.'s way through things eventually they work out because people around him we don't pick up the pieces and do things right or he just declares bankruptcy and walks away I mean basically that's been with the the two ways that trump has succeeded through life to the extent that you can say that he's a success is declared bankruptcy six times it doesn't sound like a success to me is a serial failure his father gave him four hundred you know that for a million dollars in the bank because that all away I mean it's just but the question that I'm asking is why did trump delay I mean this his delay is going to cost tens of thousands of lives possibly hundreds of thousands maybe even millions of American lives debts that are completely unnecessary that are wreaking havoc on our health care

The return of Peronist politics in Argentina
"Argentina's, Cristina Fernandez decay. Now is back at the full populace president left office in two thousand fifteen with the country on the brink of economic collapse. But if posed to be believed she has a good chance of returning to this in October, as vice president alongside her namesake and former chief of staff, Alburto Fernandez Jonathan Wheatley discusses, how history may be repeating itself in Argentina with a correspondent Benedict. Mander. Living with the. Going seattle. Get new put them meet there in, then they're gay three hundred fourteen dollars. We realize as individualize see noise when a p really says dune associated that was Cristina Fernandez decay, Schnur extolling the virtues of collective action. And so there can be no individual triumphs. In a society based on the kind of social contract that she advocates, but her parents policies left the country in dire state. Then it can you give us a picture of the economic situation, when she left office? Yes, when macrey took our. He find an economy with twin deficits, both in the budget and candidates, central Bank reserves running on Mt. And so you basically had a country that was under budgeted balance of payments crisis at the same time you had very high inflation. They no one knows exactly how high is they still publishing reliable statistics. There was no growth speak of high poverty. In the order thirty percents. I mean it was in a bad way, and it's proved very difficult for macrey to correct that situation. I what he's done. I was one of the big things he's done is turns the IMF and Argentina's being the beneficiary of its biggest ever bailout fifty six billion dollar package, but the IMF is still deeply unpopular in Argentina. Was that? Yes, I mean, it's like a comic book villain Argentina. I mean, it's had a very checkered performance in Argentina over the past sixty years. There have been more than twenty programs pretty much all of which have ended badly. Most recently, the two thousand one crisis was probably the west all that ended in the biggest ever sovereign debt default at a time. Anyway, huge devaluation that triggered very high employment. Those sibling arrest people shot on the streets, and so on having was disastrous. So it's understandable that people have bad memories if the funds engagement in the country. I Fono money Taddeo. This realm integral Montreal remove scenario Torello necessarily casino much of Argentine was brought to a standstill last week by general strike in protest over the government. So stereotype measures are we just had one of the organizers, Kellyanne Rupak Anini describing the IMF is being the Bermuda triangle, sucking in salaries work, health and education? So things apparently haven't improved for the poor under the reforms agreed between the current president Mauricio Macri in the IMF. What are people telling you about the hardships? They're facing at the moment. The first thing that people say that they just are able to make it to the end of the bone, and that's those that are employed, right? Because there's a huge amount of releasing Jones, but those that are earning salaries which not keeping up with inflation, finding it very difficult to pay for just the basic items food, prices have been up extremely fast and utilities as well have been rising several times over. So people just. Yeah. The month and that is obviously, causing significant social unrest. And you'd be not speaking to small businesses on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. How are they putting up with things the slums and the working class area's been particularly badly hit where there are lots of factories and workshops which not very competitive and been competing with impulse China. The defended the local markets, a lot of have been closing down. So that's leading to mass unemployment in the poorer areas of the city, which is causing big problems on against those are large part of the electorate, exactly. That's the heartland of Christina Fernandes occasion. And she is likely to do very well in that part of the electric ended makes up about a quarter voted. So it'll make significant difference. Deana. See my settlement brother shit. I mean goon Dino. And. Taylor. That was Christina Fernandez running mate, berto Fernandez. No, relation saying it rally that his coalition would eliminate Argentina's debt without making any Argentine suffer the cost with promises like this, how, as Mr. macrey can fight fightback. Well, it's not easy. The big thing that maybe hadn't his favorite, the beginning was that he was supposedly better, managing the economy, now that is not really proved to be the case or at least not over these four years. A lot of people, and I find themselves in a worse position night and they were four years ago. So he's having to look the other areas to sell himself, so recently, they've been inaugurating public works, major infrastructure projects, roads bridges sewerage signs, rather present, but these things do make a big difference to another people. And that, having that will help and also you have to remember that there are no infrastructure projects under the previous government that they're started. We wouldn't have. Completed. So this is also a reminder of the corruption that supposedly happened under the kitchen as you mentioned corruption that Benedict. What about all the court cases that are going on what bearing will that have on the election? Well, that is the million dollar question Argentines have known to vote into power politicians that have been accused of corruption in the past. So it's not gonna be the Bill and endle-. It will certainly have an impact on the margins. I think that polls show that the NFL this is a supporters. Don't actually believe the corruption charges identing that's going to affect that sector of the vote, but in the middle ground, perhaps it will and the extent to which it does could even decide the election another problem that obviously Argentina faces is that foreign investors very quickly lose trust in the country, and we've seen the huge devaluation of the currency last year again, this year, one of the problems that we often hear about is that Argentines themselves. Don't trust the currency. How do you fix a problem like that? Well, this is one of the great dramas of Argentina, and it's not clear to anybody otherwise. They might have six up more ready. It'll take years, perhaps decades of macroeconomic stability for trust in the currency to return or even appear. So the first thing that needs to do is kill inflation, which has proved incredibly hard on democracy. He thought it was going to be very easy, but it's not higher than it was when he came to power looks like it's beginning to go on a dine with paws, but it's going to take a very long time to get rid together at any then I think we'll people say, they're encouraging Argenta on politics have been compared to a circular firing squad. Is there any sign that, that passing could be halted in that Mr. macrey could engage with more moderate parents elements to win a consensus for his reform programme? Well at the beginning of this government, he did manage to cooperate with the mall, mudder elements apparent ISM and was able to pass some important. Reforms, more recently, the last year or even two that has not been so successful, but doesn't no reason why if he does win he couldn't do that again. But the polarization of Argentine politics is a huge problem. It was something that macrey promised to fix and he hasn't. Debatable as to why. But this is going to be a problem going forward without a diet. And why has Christina finance chosen to run for the vice presidency rather than as president this time? Well, you need to. That I mean it's impossible to get inside the head, but some people suggest that it may be because she thought she couldn't actually win. But then again, it's not clear that the person who is running in place on both the mandates will win either. So it could also be that, perhaps, even if she did win. She thought that she might not be able to govern efficiently at least as she might have liked to how she did in previous governments, which were current terrorized by the FTA amongst others is the populist politics. And as we all know populism doesn't mix very well with all sturdy, and that is the situation that we're in at the moment. So she might have decided to pass the buck. Thank you very much. We will certainly be watching with great interest as we get closer to the election. That was Jonathan.
