"Take a look at our key suspect at this Johnny Garrett and see what makes him. So starting at a young age, Garrett was oh my God, this is so sad. Garrett was raped repeatedly by a stepfather. Who then sold him out to other men for sex. God. When was this? This was, well, so the murder happened in 1981, and this is he was 17 years old then. So this was in the 70s. So right when that, what's his name, who killed all the boys in Houston and driving gacy, and there was that dude who lived in Dallas, who was the head of selling young boys basically for sex. It just makes me wonder, was he involved with him? 70s in Texas was that was a messed up time. He was beginning at the age of 14. He was forced to act out bizarre sexual acts that were recorded for pornographic films. His family gave him his first taste of alcohol at age ten and drugs soon after. They also taught him how to use paint thinner and amphetamines to get high, which resulted in brain damage. Or the young Garrett. Garrett was regularly physically beaten and abused. Once he was placed on a stove burner. Oh, my God. That resulted in severe burns and scarring. And there were also numerous head injuries that he would suffer over the years. Yeah. Because of all this abuse Garrett suffered from paranoid delusions and had mental handicaps that typical teens his age would not suffer. Yeah. So, at his trial, Garrett would maintain his innocence. He testified in his own defense. He denied raping or murdering sister Benz, he testified that he entered the convent two days before the murder. Looking for something to steal. Because remember, he was wanted in this other burglary and he did have scrapes with the law. He said he entered the convent through the front door shortly afternoon and proceeded into the medication room and the cafeteria, where he picked up the kitchen knife. He testified that he then went into several of the bedrooms. And in one bedroom, he bent the knife in prying open a locked drawer. He explained his fingerprints on the headboard of sister Ben's bed by stating that he grabbed the headboard, so he could lean over and reach across on the wall, there was apparently a crucifix that he wanted.

"My fingers. If you did that's my boobs, I'd be like, I don't, let's not do this. Honey, we need to talk. All right, speaking of talking, how about we take a break? And then we'll come back for questions. All right, so I am going to tell you the story Adele of sister to DIA bends. Okay. Now, we have talked before about like last year when we were doing the Halloween things. Nothing had happened like on Halloween. This one, where are you about to correct me, did something happen? I was just thinking back to what we did last year and you did Cindy song, which was a party, but it wasn't on. It was a Halloween party. Yes. But it was funny, you did a none as well. History of another directory. Yes, that's right. Oh my gosh, okay, well yeah, nuns and Halloween apparently do not go together. So on Halloween 1981 40 years ago this year. I know it's the 40th anniversary. 76 year old Catholic nun sister to DIA Benz was brutally raped stabbed and murdered in the Saint Francis convent in Amarillo, Texas. Her body would be discovered that morning by another sister, when sister Benz didn't attend the 6 30 AMS. Sister Benz was naked with blood on her face. The window in the convents community room was broken. The sisters called the police, evidence was collected, and that evidence included a knife under the bed. Sister Ben's bed linens, fingerprints lifted from the knife's blade, the bed's headboard and the cut window screen. An additional kitchen knife was found in the driveway or on the driveway outside. So at first, I guess, when the sister first glanced at sister Ben's. The one he found her. I guess she thought it looked like an accident. Okay. Naked on the bed with blood on your face. I don't really understand how that can be taken. Exactly. But at first, the death was considered accidental. And then an autopsy, of course, was performed by pathologist Ralph erdman, and he revealed the details of her death. So there were stab wounds, contusions to the head and abrasive injuries to the neck..

The History of the Electric Car
"It or not. The electric automobile is almost two hundred years old in eighteen. Twenty eight hungarian priest by the name of unused djedovic created a simple electric motor and may have created a device that converted it into motion in eighteen. Thirty two scottish inventor robert anderson created a very simple vehicle which is basically a carriage a non rechargeable electric battery into crude electric motor. It didn't go very far and it didn't go very fast. But it was a self-propelled electric vehicle. Electric vehicles were mostly novelties. And weren't something that could find practical use. There was no centralized electrical generation at the time. And there were. No wires transmitting electricity. And moreover every time you use the car you had to get a brand new battery. It isn't believed that any of these very early vehicles actually ever carried a passenger. Many people in the mid nineteenth century created electric devices which moved including prototype electric trains however the fundamental problem that electric vehicles run into for poor batteries and very inefficient motors. The first big development came in eighteen fifty nine by french physicist guest on plenty who invented the acid lead battery. This was a breakthrough in that. The battery can be recharged over and over. Even though there had been improvements over the years this is still basically the same type of battery found in most cars today in eighteen. Eighty one french inventor gustav trevi created the first thing that we would probably recognize as an automobile. It was an electrically driven vehicle. That could carry a pasture down a public street trevi. Interestingly enough also applied electric motor to a boat thus creating the world's first outboard motor in eighteen eighty two englishman. Thomas parker produced a commercial electric vehicle. It wasn't until eighteen. Five that german engineer karl benz invented the first internal combustion engine automobile and the name benz should ring a bell to anyone who's remotely familiar with cars.

What if Earth Spun 10 Times Faster?
"What if earth spun ten times faster. I'm pretty sure we didn't earthy question last week. i think we did. Is continent connected. It was well still even though we did that. One just before it had been a while before that what it feels like we haven't done many earthy questions i know feels like a long time to him. Maybe one week is too long for me to not do a question about earth. Marcus herbal object permanence. If i don't see the earth how do i know it exists then. Sincere being snarky bathroom. Why don't you start us when i get so. I looked into obviously the spain. Ten times faster. That's going to change. How long are days and nights are. We're looking to try before before you get too far into it. We just one note. Yes our parameters here. We're basically saying that. The earth is always spinning ten times. Faster not just immediately starting to go ten times faster like an overnight thing to despise of nobody if the earth suddenly started moving ten times faster it is an absolute catastrophic accompany of earthquakes. You know ridiculous strong hurricanes and things Everyone just dies before anything interesting happens. That isn't just immediately apparent of why you don't drastically changed of planets and benz shorter day night cycle really doesn't matter at all. It does not sure does one real short day. No one will be there for the night. So that's the only thing. I want to add before you jump in bed but go ahead. Yes so the first question is you know what are our current days. Like around around the world. So it varies based on where you are in relation to the equator. If you're the equator your days are around twelve hours long all year long. I should look a city in. Ecuador called Kito or i'm not sure which is about sixteen miles south of the equator. And they're the the daytime. Was you know it was from from like twelve hours and five minutes to twelve hours. Eight-match minutes year round. You know so pretty constant twelve hour day tomorrow night for us. We're all around boston on this. Podcast it does fluctuate based on the season so as we're recording this. We're actually just coming up on the summer solstice which is june twentieth. It's obviously already passed listening to this. But on the solstice which is the day where the day is longest shortest The sunrises five of seven. Am sunsets eight twenty four pm. So the daytime is about fifteen quarter hours around sixty four percent of the day on the contrary the winter solstice which is in december december. Twenty first it's kind of the inverse so sunset is our sunrise seven ten. Am sunsets four fourteen pm. so daytime. it's only about nine hours. It's about thirty eight percent of the day so obviously if you have ten times faster days you're going to have started ten times faster rotation of earth. You're going to have days their tenth as long.

Oh and mason mount craig. This was this was easy. You just looked at that. Stop and out the talk lane and you watch the game and saw sixty seven percent possession real madrid for maybe a little bit unlucky. No not all. I mean not unlucky. Lucky lucky it was only to know. I mean yeah. Lots of possession but but very positive side wayside with by the way forward sideways only injected a life when it dropped of carrying benz among the first half when he got accepted or amid a good run into the baltimore. Great rodney made monitors picked him out for a header from with mandy. But this was this was going over by chelsea. Say that are fighting for fourth known. The preeminently great. That's the crux of the here. Yes thomas was done a marvelous job and reorganising jokes. He scored and they have talent but goodness me a final of competition that. This club thrive on its cope with so much success real madrid and yet they were so meek and so ponderous in the performance the the fact that chelsea beat them by four. Maybe five goals honestly. Karim Benzema Earns Real Madrid Draw Against Chelsea
"The back of the english newspapers dominated by chelsea's one one draw against rambler. We can pull this off a young a lot on the back. Page and stop in spain. Marker going with a draw to keep dreaming meanwhile benz emma is. It was an interesting game wasn't in the spanish capital dominated once again from a strike as perspective about team verners. Miss chances yagan thomas to coming out afterwards and saying you know this. Is this kind of life. This is what's happening with him at the moment. How much trust have you within him again. That he can find the back of the net once again. Maybe soon i've total trust in him because he knows where to be in the right time and right now maybe there. He misses one and that specific moment. So so that's something to deal with for strike. Oh and you have to kind of just think about the next opportunity comes along like you know michael jordan said so he missed more shots than east called and t-mobil no. It's just like you know if you fail moments it makes you only stronger and the kit is good. The kid has a tremendous amount of drive and talent and he knows where the ball will fall in the box and he can also know makes things happen himself of his speed and going at people. So i'm i totally have trust. And t mobile. He will go through that stage and who knows. Maybe he's causing the next game in the second leg or he's goals in the final of the champions league you know. He was very young when he was twenty. One being meaning the golden boot at the confederations cup in russia in two thousand seventeen and he scored one hundred goals in the gym bundestag already. And he's only twenty five to kit is good and a kid will prove it but obviously it has to deal with the criticism when you miss a big chance. That's normal night. Goalkeepers do as well when they make a mistake. You know the the all over them but I hope that he gets plenty of opportunities going forward.
Do Benzos Treat Depression?
"Nothing is more tormenting to a melancholic than to lie awake for several hours in the early morning alone with his morbid thoughts and his intense desire for the piece of sleep judicious prescription of the proper dosage of the right drug is most rewarding to such a patient that was from. Frank is nineteen sixty one. Textbook recognizing the depressed patient and the right drug. He was talking about was the barbituates. Soon after the book's release barbituates were replaced with benzodiazepines. And the benzoate were later supplanted by the z. Hypnotic at least for sleep. That sounds like progress but really we aren't too far from dr is world. All of these drugs are gabba. Jack and their main difference is in safety not efficacy. In fact the older versions are arguably more potent than the newer gabar used today but they were also more toxic and more addictive barbituates were fatal and overdose on their own while benzes mainly 'cause overdose deaths when combined with other drugs like opioids are alcohol the z. Patrick's Hot Take on Clubhouse
"Everybody it's another episode of after hours and today. Oh boy we're going to talk about the most fomo inducing social media app out there drum. Roll me second drummer. Drummoyne desk here. It's called clubhouse okay so you might remember a couple of weeks ago. We had A listener mail. Message from brent mcginnis and i was talking to brat around that time and we stayed in touch. He wrote me a note and he said hey. Do you have any advice for clubhouse. You know i'm going to start getting involved clubhouse and my my answer was i don't know because clubhouses causing me a bunch of foam stress i don't think about clubhouse and so i decided to talk about club does this week because it. I just said it like a canadian. Their club hosts. I meant clubhouse. Because everybody's talking about clubhouse. I feel like every conversation i have has a clubhouse element and everybody kind of criticize out clubhouses the worst but yet they're all on it and so i just think it's interesting to unpack that. What the heck is going on with clubhouse and so i have five conham went through for five hot takes on clubhouse that i wanna share with you today okay. Hot take number one this. I don't think it's that hard to take. But tell you think i think clubhouse is interesting and i'm gonna tell you why i have spent a little time on there and people have cool conversations. That are outside of the norm. So i think the very obvious use case clubhouse it's a place to congregate a following so for example we can have a really cool foam sapiens event. Where a bunch of us get together and we start talking about the show and the things that we like from the show. It'd be great chance for me to meet some you listeners. And maybe we'll even do that in fact if you're interested doing that and you're a member of clubhouse I would love to hear more about that. You can actually follow me on clubhouse at petro mcguinness so check me out patrick mcguinness and i just like like the fact that you get groups of people together and there are some really interesting people. Obviously the musk's of the world now those types come on. That's great too. But i i was on a A bunch of conversations about dating or about social life for about politics and people. I never heard of were getting up and talking pretty honestly and sometimes saying some crazy things. I was like ward. You said that. While but i just think it's a great way to learn about topics that you may not have exposure to and frankly i was looking to a conversation about race and that's a conversation that i really wanted to hear and i don't have all the time with with certain people in so hearing about Concepts of racial equity and and in from people who are living Living lives are affected by racism for me was super education. I valued being able to hear that. So i think there's a lot of value for people when they listen on clubhouse but let's move onto number two hot tag number two. It is super super time. Consuming i mean you get on clubhouse and then you like fourteen hours later when you get off because your phone is dying. You're like oh my god like what time go i. I wonder if people maybe just put it on in the background while they're doing other things but who is just. It just sucks up a lot of time. And i have a good friend who's been doing a benz on there and she was telling me her experiences like yeah. I love doing it. But frankly i you know i i. It's like start things. Go for three hours. So you start at nine o'clock and suddenly midnight and you're sorta like gosh. What are the time go and so it does require a ton of time and that's an interesting thing because obviously during a pandemic people have time to spare and so it's just a great way to kill time but what's going to happen when people are busy again. Are they gonna wanna be clubhouse. That is a mystery. We don't know what's going to happen. But i do think that the time sort of element. It's going to have to change because people cannot devote three hours for conversation Every week or every night or however frequently you're on it. And i think maybe after the pandemic will see that those conversations will get a little shorter. That's what i would predict but we will see when that happens.

Psychology of how human connection can really mean the difference sometimes patients between whether or not they get better or whether or not. They drag on in their dysfunction. If in their pain. I think one of the big takeaways for me as i listened to this interview again and as i recall the book so i bought this book about the time that i was closing on a private practice that i purchased here in my home city of augusta georgia. Home the national the nationals. If you're in a golf. I'm not but some people are in. I was coming into purchasing this clinic and becoming a clinician again boots on the ground clinician if you would after having spent the last four years or so in between academics and healthcare consulting and doing marketing and some big strategic initiatives for some very big projects and i had always in the back of my mind wanted to go back into private practice into into just making relationships with patients again. Because that's why. I got into healthcare but i was a little bit disillusioned after being in and out of some of these organizations after doing patient engagement. Work with clients. And just feeling this drag on the clinicians that i spoke to the managers. The clinic directors. That i worked with around. Just the the burden that is productivity and utilization and efficiency in how the numbers have really taken place of people and i was kind of hesitant about stepping back into this not just from having to work in it standpoint. Having to be a clinician now kind of in the rat race of utilization and productivity but being somebody that was going to be in charge of setting the culture at a clinic. And i was i was worried about how it would look and whether or not whether or not i'd be stuck. Do you know falling in line and doing what everyone else does. And pushing pushing some of these metrics over people and reading the book. So i bought it shortly after his published. Shortly after i had already signed the papers to close on this clinic. And i was kind of hesitant about it a little bit in the back of my mind about seven back into clinical care and reading the book. Just re energized me about our role as clinicians about the impact that we have on our patient's lives. I was talking to a colleague from the university. About the time i was stepping away about. The time is leaving them this clinic. She said oh yeah. That book was on to read lists. I wonder if it's any good. And i said listen. I'm reading it right now and it is making it is making me fall in love with clinical care again and i cannot think larry enough for taking the time to be be with us for an hour or so to chat about his book but also to share some of the insights some of the practical advice that he gave throughout the throughout the interview about what we can do as clinicians to build empathy to build trust to decalcified and notice when we are feeling on the edge of burnout. So he's done a lot for for the profession for clinicians in general and we just want to thank him for that anyways. If you like what. We're doing here at the show. "I have one of these conversations for the podcast and this one is no no different. So i'm just going to dive right into it. And then i'll do some housekeeping stuff at the end but my guest. This week is dr larry benz. He's a physical therapist and he is the president and co founder of a company called confluence health and they're basically a holding company that partners with outpatient private outpatient physical therapy clinics occupational therapy clinics and the like across the nation. He is also and the reason that i wanted to have him on the show here is. He is the author of a book that was published in late. Twenty twenty that is called. The book is called called to care. making healthcare human again. So if you've listened to any episodes of this show if you read any of the work at practices calm you know that we are all about that. I loved sitting down with with dr bans. With with larry and having a conversation really about some of the most common patterns most of the the most common reasons why clinicians might become calcified or might become burnt out in healthcare and really some practical steps and an inside. The doctor benz could provide around how to undo the damage that is done by working in a healthcare system and industry if he would that seems more focused on numbers and spreadsheets then on people so without any further do here is dr larry benz from conflict health. Talking about his book called to care a. Hey larry welcome to the show. How are you. I'm doing wonderful pleased to be here. All right for those. That may not know you tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background pt. That's where you spent most of your time right absolutely so i'm sort of always been smitten by all things physical therapy And the pro. I'm currently the president and co founder of and ceo of conflict health influence. Health is a holding company. "Really challenging and there's a high power charges going in. I'm while fifty kilowatts walls fine a few years ago and even i'm saying that someone who drives a car that charges on a twenty two twenty two kilowatt. Ac on the zoe. So i'm hardly wants to complain. Because i got a very slow charging ebay and it doesn't affect impact me rarely but still the wider picture. I do think a hundreds perhaps a little bit slow for a premium car. Maybe one two five one fifty at least a peak great. Look if if it's one hundred kilowatts pretty much holds that charge rate for the entire like the like the like the out each on. That's absolutely fine. If you are wanting to turn up a charger with a very low state of charge whakatane of juice into it. Let you do with a tesla that will go up to two fifty on a on a three supercharge that ramps down so quickly like that's the that's the absolute peak rate than it. Ramps down if you do need to go to a charger and just do that. It's great to have a fast charging even if the worst by use case with a lot of people get it. I know that you do you understand. I understand it as well use case. So if you want this to have any the y you are pretty much charging during some road tripping. You're going to get to eighty ninety percent all the time. It's no use having an iv that charges quickly to begin with but then goes down to a trickle. You want to charge the color charges quickly throughout the entire session if this does then all power to it. Pardon the pun a charging. Eleven eleven kilowatt. Ac charging three-phase that's pretty good north of sixty and eight point nine and again. I don't need to call the. Does that drive quickly anymore. Not ever really did. But in the world of ev is eight point nine. Is you gotta say for mercedes benz. A little bit slow. Even though this is the base model you know you're looking. At the nissan aria the new a new nissan. It's gonna come with the wheel drive the force technology. That's going to be five point. Something seconds nor to sixty. And that's the in this area the ladies benz during nine seconds. It may be a little bit tardy. It does toe up seven hundred and fifty kilograms important for some markets and it goes on sale from forty seven and a half thousand euros next month in february having a uk price having a us price. It may not come to the us. I'll get onto that now. Mercedes benz has recalled revealed the second model so the fcc was the first one very very expensive. The qc and Very luxurious. I mean a a gorgeous absolutely gorgeous cop edging out the soon to be revealed e. q. S we thought maybe the might be revealed but now the iki is the first one to be revealed. A small crossover and definitely a shape and size of car that many people are looking forward to to to adding a model. Why size an. Id four skoda skoda any ac. Iv kia a narrow kinda size car now. The relationship with its gla. Sister or cousin car is very clear. The guests number of unique design changes but it is a car based on a combustion platform made into an ivy has a power train. That's on par with the gla more impressive than its combustion-powered interesting though mercedes hasn't decided whether it will be offered in the us yet says also block so we cars like the bmw. I x three. Which is again based on combustion platform just an electric version stuffing batteries. Where they can that is not coming to the us. Something we'll say because the range is just not good enough for the us market and again to six five miles for this on wwl tv pay. Maybe that's two four five or two fifty when it gets an epa rating. Well you might ask. Is that enough. I personally think so sell in the. Us and people will buy it anyway. The driving websites driving electric driven already. And they say it's expected to be priced from just over forty thousand pounds in the uk. The qa is a premium offering with its sights set on the tesla model. Y rather than trying to be an enticing affordable car like the id four nevertheless it will appeal to a wider audience than the qc which fought too expensive for most people. First of all. It's very swift. It's compact good visibility characteristically eager and smooth delivery of electric power which is great for driving in city traffic. Not bad at all on a twisty country road. Out of its depth of they say a sustained high speed motorway. Cruising top speed is nine thousand nine miles an hour which i'm surprised about because again germany mercedes-benz the auto bahn people drive very high speeds. In places. there are no less than five levels of region to toggle between the strongest which allows for one pedal driving everywhere the lightest feels more like just kind of free wheeling and so they. I like that. I want more of that. I like to have complete control over that because again in slow town driving. I want one pedal driving but again speed. I want to be able to free. Want heavy region. It's more efficient to just kind of cruise a slowdown gently to read the road. Ahead of you to look further ahead to be a better safer driver when you let let you off the accelerator ozone the bright lights. Come on and you ford and you you know you thrust into your seatbelt because the region is is so extreme of course to get around that you're modulating your right foot which i find more of a hassle to drive eve as with with crazy strong region. So what do you think. Have a look at the pictures online. Send me your thoughts. I'll read out some of your opinions and thoughts. I'd love to hear from you on what you what you think of this. I the outside and again like i celebrate holidays. I love electric cars when we knew wants to talk about so i always give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm more positive negative. The outside i think you take off the flashy wheels they on for these press picks on some very average looking error alloy wheels or even some areas sales and you take away the jazzy pressure that they've kind of blood. Today's the impression of speed and it's a pretty bland average looking crossover shape. Isn't that just the shape. The everybody wants these days not me personally. It's not quite a con quite an suv. Like i think if you wanna call by a car if you wanna suv. 'cause your family all an lost after whole dogs guinness uv. This kind of not quite anything shape doesn't do anything familiar but they just sell everywhere around the world now and again. It's why it's the shape of the model. Y idee four scott any ac all of those costs and so i think you take away the glitz and the outside like the way is just a bit boring and bland with no real design on this. I think the interior because i like button not I need serious spectacular the the screens a big but not too big the nice little blue detailing inside is nice overwhelming the the materials look them not so much to attack you. I pace from these subscription company to the came straight from the factory as aspect eighty grand and like eat in the they they they send it to me to say. Hey you have a drive of this and try out of and i was like was done two hundred miles like snacks in the car. You know because it really felt like an eighty grand car and so it was. Everything was premium leather and soft and beautiful and so quiet drive base. And although i've been inside this mercedes-benz it looks like it's heading towards that level of interior luxury clearly. A few of the materials look like they've made some cost savings but this looks like it's a real premium in interior with just enough buttons to make the control of things like heating nice and easy not having to access a touchscreen but still be nice big screens in this and again. it's all. Subjective really appeals to me and so called white to drive one. Let me know your thoughts. Let's talk about the reynaud five which is coming and a follow up on a story i told you about. Bring him back the five nine for small city car and i mentioned by the time they hit the market in a couple of years time. The zoe will be long in the tooth. Is it going to be replacement justify up. There is some clarification on this. It will not replace zoey. They will sell both from red eye At the same time. The reasoning behind is simple. Zoe is europe's best selling electric car. And they want to keep that name plate going and so the run five inspire debate out in two thousand twenty three. We saw a prototype. Concept is coming along with the four as well. We wonder if i will maybe not sell the twingo. And they'll sell the full the five and the zoe we'll wait and see porsche next in the news today. Revealing new entry level cheapo bargain bucket version of the teich on this model joins the range with two battery options and for the first time in ticon two wheel drive and tycoon. Sales were second only to the mccann imported lineup in two thousand and twenty. It's been so wildly popular porsche. And that's why they are expanding the range and making the most of a good thing says the performance car website. Ego the new variant simply. Called tycoon is opening up. Its pricing thirteen grand less than the current two. Cheapest one seventy grand. What a bogging. So feel seventy thousand pounds. You got a eighty kilowatt hour battery or an optional. Ninety three point four kilowatt hour battery single motzer on the rear axle. The same motif found in the full s. Three hundred and twelve all three hundred seventy four break host pound depending on the battery size you to get some over boost for that so you do get in a shorter period of boost of almost four six nine break host power so it'll be a performance car. Despite the variation of peak power figures the performance of both battery options are identical in terms of the stats. Say five point. Four seconds not to one hundred kilometers an hour and going as fast as one hundred and forty two miles an hour. The entry level tycoon. We'll be the slowest. But it's also the one that goes the furthest it's going to have over three hundred miles on the wwl. Tcp test cycle and so again for those porsche drive on a drive along way without stopping up. He three over three hundred. Miles is great still a very expensive car tongue in cheek saying it's a cheaper version is cheaper obviously but not cheap. Let's talk about. Vw going head to head with tesla in china with a new electric suv. The full well. There's two versions of the four in china. Let me tell you how it works. Volkswagen has set the starting price of that locally built. Suv the id four now. They've got to partnerships in china because until tests there were allowed to build their facility. That wanted to go build an ev. In china to a joint venture and it was a way of bringing in knowledge to the chinese economy and the chinese market. There was no one hundred percent foreign owned. Ev makers until tesla were allowed into the country to build gigafactory shanghai. And now you can other companies can and have owned more than fifty percent but pre. Then that's why. Volkswagen have different partnerships in china. So this particular car is made in a joint venture with f. w. group again. A domestic chinese mike is fa w vw selling the id four for thirty thousand eight hundred dollars. Equivalent hundred ninety nine thousand yuan which is incredible a great price for the id four and a real play for the mass market and so much cheaper than even the cheapest of tests on sale vw does have a very good reputation in china and doesn't a lot of cars in china according to bloomberg the full Which is called. The id for cross is built on the same platform as the that sold in europe and the The us the platform and as audis and scott is being made on that platform. The the car is cheaper than tesla's way cheaper than tesla's recently launched model y which three three nine nine hundred You on so significantly cheaper and also eligible for subsidies the vehicle can run fell four hundred kilometers. That's two hundred and forty nine miles for the chinese might. Id full and vw will also a long range version which does five hundred and fifty kilometers for just two hundred and twenty thousand yuan now for comparison. The cheapest tesla sells the model three standard range. Plus that's the equivalent of thirty eight and a half thousand. Us dollars it'll go two hundred ninety miles the most expensive. If you spec the id four to its top levels and the biggest battery most expensive id. Four is even cheaper than the cheapest model three thirty seven and a half thousand dollars equivalent. Now the there's two. Id force me told you about this at the beginning. Let me tell you the. Id four x four. X has a few different styling trims and it is made by the s ic- vw joint venture. That's the four x then. There's the id full cross which is exactly the same as the european and us id four and that's made by hefei w. vw but both of those have a production capacity of three hundred thousand cars every single year. So six hundred thousand. Id fours a year just for the chinese market. When i talk about china. And i'll tell you all the time. The numbers are insane when when companies like vw have been putting all of this groundwork into building all these factories that they don't get the attention of some of the comics and ones that do get more at time impress. The numbers are just going to be overwhelming so big when they when they go. Ev that really gonna go for it and a massive capacity in these factories. The one we're talking about today. Say the fa wwe model for just over thirty thousand dollars equivalent. Getting the id four. Which i think is a great price for two hundred fifty mile car. And it's getting very very good. Eddie reviews we'll wait and see how the chinese take to it. of course. Tesla has a premium brands supercharging network. It's that that That brand the so many people aspire to at. How much does that make a difference as well looking forward to seeing how this plays out. I'm loving it at the biden. Tesla have lowered the price of the model three in some european countries. Germany and france as of today the price is reduced standard range pro plus went from forty three down to forty thousand euros. Long range went from fifty two and a half to fifty thousand euros in the pupo performance from fifty eight and a half forty five thousand euros now. In france there's a seven thousand zero subsidy You can get a vehicle for instance full a very very good price. Thirty four thousand euros say in france with the standard range plus model three now. There are some places as well in france that will give you a extra subsidy for trading in a diesel combustion. Couple before two thousand and six. I think you've always eat. You've got owned it for a while. She's gone by one few hundred yards and then try to. If you fit the criteria you will indeed get that money off and there are some other local regional regional benefits. You can get a tesla model. Three for under thirty thousand euros in some parts of france. If you tickle those boxes and finally again this like yesterday's mcdonnell story this one put a smile on my face. Just just because like i if once done with a car and they sell it on and somebody can have a second third. Fourth use is just better for the planet rather than building new stuff. He has good reasons why you shouldn't have that an issue. Of course norway is with charging opportunities of every shape and size. I personally wouldn't buy chatham oka- i mean no disrespect to someone picking up nissan leaf tonight. The leaf is a great car. And there's plenty of those plugs around most of us charge anyway But i don't know that's just my opinion. Feel free to disagree like those china plucks on going anywhere for ten years. It's like it's like you can't judge a mental block. Maybe it's just me. But it comes with that plucks own because it's a similar size to the chinese plug and actually to make the hole in the side of the car is my nonscientific way of describing big fish. Ccs would mean redesigning the car literally and this crash test and things to go through and homologation so the puts you out of my own. I understand why but the g. three looks like an interesting wwl's ep range of two hundred and ninety miles a ex pilots. So it's pretty clever driver. Assistance is pretty cheap. How much of that is going to be dialled down and an entombed out. But you know. I think this is going to be a million miles away from that. Stunning swoopy lo long sedan. Version of the s class in electronic form the luxury pure electrics sedan looks almost ready given the very low level of camouflage on this latest set of pictures and then we don't expect the final production version of the us anytime soon probably in the first half of two thousand and twenty one and an s class equivalent the first electric model mercedes-benz to arrive in the us as well. And it's going to be marketed. As a direct competitor in line with tesla model s the future bmw electric seven series.
