Fresh update on "bengals" discussed on Bet The Board

"And Jacoby Brissette has been a real problem for stretches in terms of creating some balance. Last week, there was a little bit of optimism. He got Donovan people's Jones involved, maybe a nice one, two compliment with Amari Cooper, who is still the alpha. But let's not sugarcoat it pain. This Cleveland Browns offense will run through Nick Chubb and if Nick Chubb can get on track, all bets are off because it forces teams to respect play action passing. Do you think Lou Anna rumo's defense struggles at all that contain Nick Chubb or how do you see things playing out tonight when Cleveland has the football matched up against the Bengals defense that's been vulnerable in the first half, but absolutely air tight in the second half approaching on a levels of historical greatness for not giving up a touchdown through the first 7 games. Yeah, I mean, it's a great question. I think if you just kind of look on the surface, you would think the browns offense is faced a really poor schedule of defenses and they've had some troubles among playing those defenses in that Cincinnati would be this huge step up in class. To me, it looks like Atlanta's dead last defense is skewing some of the metrics a bit because Cleveland's actually played two top ten defenses for top 14 defenses and 5 top 17 defenses. So I don't know if this will be as large of a step up in class as I initially thought or the surface level metrics would indicate here. Now, don't get me wrong, the Bengals defense is really good. It's 8th best in schedule just efficiency. They've been really good against both the run in the past. But there are some avenues here, I think, for the browns to have some success, they showed last year with Nick Chubb healthy that they were able to run the ball right at Cincinnati and find some efficiency there and you're looking tonight the big fella DJ reader out again up the middle for since the rumor there is potentially a return after the buy week, but for tonight, that's a big loss. And you can run on the Bengals defense specifically on first down. There are 30th defending first down runs. Now obviously that's going to be the objective for you to stop the run. But if Cleveland can get those first down runs to be efficient, it can keep Jacoby set in the browns pass offense competitive in my mind. Aside from last week we're bris looked really good and he was able to hit some explosives and intended air yards numbers were quite high. Cleveland as a whole really hasn't shown the ability to hit you deep or be overly explosive. It's very much a controlled pass attack. The one thing though, to your point at the top and it was astute, it's vital for Cleveland to get out early tonight. You just have to. For whatever reason, luanna rumo hasn't been great devising game plans, but he has been a wizard making halftime adjustments once he sees what you're doing. We did get a glimpse of that during the Super Bowl run last year, but right now. Todd the Bengals defense bottom ten and eBay per play allowed in the first half. Second best in the second half. So the browns have to get some points on the board early. When you look at luana rumos professional trajectory, did you ever think he was capable of doing what he's done so far with the bangles? No. I mean, this is incredible to me because look, we don't hold the bag. I watched him at the dolphins. I was gonna say, we don't hold the Bengals coaching staff. Any of them in the highest regard and you look at the adjustments they're making, specifically on the defensive side. I mean, my God, I mean, these things are impressive on a historical level. I mean, not allowing a touchdown in the second half of this season. The last team to do this for the first 7 games happened back in 1934. So to just wrap your head around what kind of historical precedents being established, I mean, is absolutely mind boggling. So a hat tip to him, we'll see if Cleveland get out to a fast start, play with a little bit of lead. We know that this defense is built for some of that, but the bangles no strangers to coming back, knowing they have a prolific passing game. Have you seen anything on this? Did you see the move on the under coming in or you think that's all injury related to the absence of Jamar chase? So a couple things going on here. You kind of hinted that it was one way action on the Bengals and I would say you're probably right there. I do know of one group that actually got out and laid it with the bangles. We saw some buyback at three and a half. So there's a full blown battle on the side. In terms of the total, it started to trend down a little bit, but I do think we saw the large move come with the announcement of Ja'Marr chase being out. And I'm interested to see how this ultimately unfolds before kick-off because there might be a little bit of a difference of opinion on this total as well. Keep your eye on the weather. It didn't look significant. There was some early morning rain, and we thought it would clear out a little bit quicker, but it looks like it might linger around a little bit before kick-off, about a 25% chance of rain for the game. So keep your eyes peeled there. The wind isn't significant by any stretch, but we've seen what happens sometimes when it can come off the water a little bit. And where that stadium's position isn't great. So let's keep an eye, but I think ultimately what you're going to see here is some battles on both the side and total in this one. Yeah, one thing on this too, and it's not advocating for a position either way here. It's more of a PSA to our loyal listeners as I'm sure a lot of them will look for a little bit of action to try and hopefully roll some of their profits from a college football and NFL best bet winner on the podcast last week. If you like the underdog, do not take three on this game, there'll be plenty of three and a half. I think you're going to see books that cater more to recreational betters. Have their hand forced. We already see two of the more prominent shops nationally that deal to recreational customers and legalized jurisdictions at plus three and a half minus a dollar 20. I see a shop here who fits that same profile out in my neck of the Woods at three and a half. So wait this thing out if you like the underdog, the converse is also true. If you find yourself making a case for the Cincinnati Bengals lay three, not three and a half. We can't emphasize the importance of getting the best of the number. Often enough around these parts. It's hard enough to win as is even more difficult if you handicap yourself or self sabotage, I should say, before you even go to the window to plunk down an investment. I would absolutely concur and I think ultimately when you're looking at games and we mentioned this a little bit last week, it's not who you're betting. It's how you're betting and when you get games around these key numbers of three and 7. You ultimately have to gauge your asymmetric risk and it comes down to which side of the coin because that debate depends on which side you actually like. So if you do like Cincinnati, you don't want to lose the three. If you like Cleveland, there's probably a 0% chance you're going to lose the three. And so it's worth waiting and taking that risk because you believe it's going to get three and a half. You believe it's going to get there. Ultimately, you're going to have to gauge risk as a better when you're playing around these key numbers. And it just fight all that to your point if you are playing the bangles, you want to be laying three if you're taking the browns you want to be taking three and a half. Such an important lesson and we know a lot of our listeners come at this skill with a variety of different attributes, levels of experience, but we like to try and reiterate some of the baseline points that allow you to keep your money in action a lot longer than the otherwise would if you're starting to display some bad habits out there. Joe Burrow's TD to Higgins lifts Bengals over Titans 20-16

"Just as they did in the playoffs last season, the Cincinnati Bengals came into Nashville and knocked off the Tennessee Titans. This time by a score of 20 to 16. Bengals quarterback Joe burrow went 22 of 37 for 270 yards and a touchdown through the air while samaj P Ryan, filled in nicely for the injured Joe Mixon, carrying the ball 17 times for 58 yards at a score, as well as four catches for another 35 yards. P Ryan says getting into a rhythm early helped build his confidence in this one. His first start since 2020. If you can get into rhythm early, of course, is going to help and it's not only going to help me, but it's also going to help the team, you know, just eating the clock down, wearing a defense now, you know, keeping their offense on the sideline, keeping Derek in real and sideline. That's always a plus. The story of the game may have been the Cincinnati defense, holding two time NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry to a measly 38 yards on the ground. Jeremy kick over Nashville.

"The ravens taking it slow because strong hamstrings protect that new ACL. So most likely here probably missing one week, they do have the buy following that and then likely to see Gus Edward back strong after. And then we have his teammate Mark Andrews, the video is a little hard to interpret, but it does suggest possibly an AC joint sprain of his shoulder. If that's the case, the average timeline would be two to four weeks for tight ends. With them having this week ten by, it wouldn't be surprising if you missed exactly one game and then came back after the buy. And that's all for now. I will throw it back to you, Todd. A ton of relevant names that Deepak broke down for us paying. Obviously, we're optimistic as football fans, the Cooper Cup will be out there with the mild ankle strain, was able to walk off as Deepak mentioned under his own power. Late in the game, the crazy part about it, Sean mcvay, taking responsibility for why Cooper Cup was even out there when the game had long since been put out of reach at 31 to 14. Deebo Samuel, the hamstring Mike Williams, he ain't coming back anytime soon. You look at some of the running backs that are out there. But of course, the big name and I think it provides the perfect segue for us to go into the breakdown of tonight's game. Jamar chase, a fracture in his hip, torn labrum, we saw this Cincinnati Bengals make the decision not to put him on IR, hoping that being a freakish athlete that he is, he could heal a little bit faster and would be out in the mix. And as a result, you've seen a number move both on side and total for tonight's game. The Bengals now a three point favorite, you have to lay a dollar 20 across the board for their trip to Cleveland. But the totals come down from a peak of 47 and a half as low as 45. Kevin Stefanski foreign versus the bangles as a brown's head coach swept each of the last two seasons. The Bengals, they've lost 12 straight road prime time games and absolutely meaningless street, but a fun nugget to share when we go back to 1970. Joe burrow gets the play under the bright lights for his first ever Monday Night Football start. And when you look at the Cincinnati Bengals, arguably one of the most undervalued commodities in the entire National Football League, not just this season, but going back to last year, they've now covered 5 straight, a cover this week would mark the longest streak for the franchise since 1993. And if you look over the last 15 games that includes the postseason, the bangles have exceeded odds makers expectations in 13 out of 15. I feel the most logical place to start is how much different you think the bangles offense will look if at all without their number one alpha receiver in Jamar chase. It's a good question and I think a lot of sharp guys have started to gravitate towards the bangles in the last handful of weeks and even though they had the slow start. You thought there would be some cohesion within the offensive line once they started playing together with four new starters out there. I think you're looking at a Bengals team right now that's positioned better than they were a season ago. And I think you're looking at a fringe top 5 type team. I know all the Bengals fans hated us last year as we continue to told you or continue to say that there was a bunch of luck and some variants that were swinging their way. But I think even with the record that they currently have, they're in line to make a little bit of a run. But going specific to this matchup, I think we talked, I don't know, maybe two Mondays ago about the offensive shift we saw from the Bengals and now it's starting to receive some mainstream love, but Joe burrow basically has transitioned back to the quarterback that we thought he was and it's because Zach Taylor has allowed it to be his offense. And that's the one thing that we've seen in the last two weeks shotgun usage up more than 18% the last two games versus the first 5 weeks. Burrow, you can tell it's just more comfortable being in the shotgun being able to see the field and be that point guard and distributor. And then there's also been a little bit of a shift in play calling, where we've kind of been pounding, I think, the table for two seasons now. For the love of God Zack, stop running as much on first down and second and long. Bengals the last two games have passed the ball 22% over expectation. So you're starting to see them do the right things in the offense is taken off even if it is against a little bit of a lackluster schedule the last couple of weeks. Now, you get a brown's defense. That's 28th in pass efficiency. And they've played the likes of Mayfield's Flacco, trubisky, Mariota, and Bailey's app. And certainly, let's not exclude Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson, who are both plus quarterbacks. But when the browns played them, Herbert's dealing with torn rib cartilage and Keenan Allen's out. When it's Lamar, it's down trending metrically. He's playing with the hip injury in both Mark Andrews and Bateman are extremely limited. Even when they played the better offenses, the browns defense kind of got a lifeline with some of the weapons that were far less than a 100%. Yes, Jamar chase is out here. It's a decent sized loss. But I think when thinking about haggins and Boyd, Cincinnati is more prepared to play without their number one receiver than most other teams. And as much as I like Jamar chase, we expected some regression this season and so far he's only playing 5% above replacement level when you adjust for schedule strength. The browns also will be without their best corner and Denzel ward. I think negates the loss of chase some. J okay hasn't practiced this week and he's in jeopardy of missing this game and think he's an elite cover linebacker. So maybe that frees up Hayden Hurst a little bit more than we would have initially expected. And then you may see mix and get on the loose here because the brown's defense is horrific against the run 27th and they've been really, really gashed up the middle. Now the one thing that I've been hearing and reading and seeing on social was Joe burrow didn't look great against Joe Woods and the browns defense last season. So I dug in a little bit and there's been some clear variants with those two games. If you look when Joe burrow struggled last season, he wasn't great on third downs and he was really poor in the red zone and those are just very much variants base. There's not a lot of those opportunities in a game, but you go back to 2020 bro torch the browns in both meetings and this to me is just a different version of the browns defense. 28th and schedule just defenses of efficiency. They're equally bad against the run and pass. And that's against a bottom ten schedule of opposing offenses. So I think Cincinnati even without Jamar chase will have some ability here to move the ball, especially when you think about what they're doing now in the grand scheme of things with more passing with Joe burrow more comfortable in what they're running. And just a really beaten and battered browns defense specifically in the secondary. When you mentioned Joe Mixon and of course, these are counting stats not to talk efficiency for those folks scoring at home. I mean, he's had big games against Cleveland before, including a pair of beams back in 2019 where he went absolutely ballistic on the ground. You talked about the Brown struggles against the run. You wonder if this is where you don't necessarily see all Joe burrow operating out of shotgun, it's Joe Mixon running between the tackles to try and neutralize some of the threat that's very real coming off of the edge and keep burrow out of harm's way against the likes of miles Garrett even knowing that the Cleveland Browns far from a 100% in the defensive backfield dealing with a laundry list of injuries a couple that you highlighted and players that have been questionable all week who I expect to be out there and Greg newsome and greedy Williams, but clearly not operating at a 100% in their own right. Now, when you look at the other side of the ball, this Cleveland Browns offense, it's going to look a little bit different. No date David noku out with an ankle injury, Wyatt, tell her out as well, a key cog along their offensive line.

"Win 27 7. So he may as well just hand it to him already. Send Lombardi trophy to western New York. For Monday morning as we always do we'll kick things off with the good the bad, the ugly. We'll get to a couple look ahead lines, although there weren't major market adjustments around key numbers. A little injury update from our man D PAC and of course an in depth breakdown of a showdown in the AFC north tonight between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns. But pain. I'm looking forward to that. I think it should be a lot more compelling than what it looks like on the surface. Let's put it that way. Although the way it's being bet from the people I've spoken to around town, they may as well not play the football game because the bangles win this going away. But we'll get to that at the end of the show. Good the bad and the ugly, always where we like to start things on a Monday morning and I'm going to give you first honors. I appreciate that. First off, the tea box. Let's go with maybe some low hanging fruit here because I watched this game. It's close to me. We bet the first half over. Let's go with tua and the dolphins offense. And I know you think another part of that game was vital and caught your attention. But let's start with the offense there. And you look at the metrics, right? I get that the lion's defense isn't any good. But you think about the dolphins organization and past years. They've just never had the offense to catch up, you know? Not a lot of imagination or creativity or just any ability to really battle back from being down double digits multiple times. And you look at the importance of that game. Miami is either going to push to 5 and three or they're going to falter to 500. I really thought that was a game offensive performance from them and chase mode. Final three quarters to a had a positive 0.66 EPA per drop back. So basically any time tool would drop back to throw. Those passes were almost yielding .7 points each time and to this point to a number one in EPA plus completion percentage above expectation for 8 weeks for week 8 rather. The one thing that's interesting here before we discuss the other side of the ball. I would like Mike mcdaniel to come out with the pedal to the floor. If you noticed Miami is a little quirky offensively. Unless they're really being pushed, McDaniels is kind of willing to settle in and run and play a little bit more controlled. We obviously know he's a former run game coordinator. I think there's also this element of trying to protect tua that's layered in there. But you have to start the game with the governor off build some leads because you're not always going to be able to play the lines and catch up from double digits. That's the one thing that's a little bit annoying there about Miami, but ultimately playing catch up the offense came alive. They did some of that on the opening drive on Saturday night football, the week before against the Steelers. I mean, it was the most creative opening drive. They go right down the field, get 7, and you're thinking to yourself watching that game and I know we're talking about obviously yesterday's game against the Lions. Miami is going to be able to do what they want when they want against the Steelers defense. Fast forward to what the eagles did in the first half. And you begin to go, okay, why doesn't Miami do that? And to your point, again, yesterday, they didn't really get outside of the box until they found themselves in that double digit deficit. One that was largely dug by a defense that looked like they didn't start the game until halftime. And that's actually the group that I wanted to highlight for Miami's 31 27 win and interesting result for sportsbooks with that game falling for knowing that the public and professionals actually got out there laid the three and three and a half. What did you see schematically that Miami did differently in the second half? I know they were only out there for three drives for Detroit, but they were able to force two punts, something that they couldn't do through the first 30 minutes of that football game. It's always the interesting dynamic and why there's some variance in these games because you would think if the dolphins can get a little pressure on golf, that's the element, but if golf has time, he's going to be able to pick a part of secondary that's a little beaten and battered. It's basically Xavier and Howard and javon Holland, the dolphins are down starting safety is starting corner and starting slot corner. And that ultimately was the game within the game. If you can get pressure before golf can get an open receiver, you're going to have a chance there. Ultimately, that's what unfolded they stopped the run a little bit better in the second half as well. And the offense maintained possession. Well, while scoring some points. Yeah, I mean, I think you hit on the key point there. And we talked about it, I want to say a couple of years ago with the Dallas Cowboys when they were rebuilding their defense. The only way that the defense is numbers were going to look better was with the offense putting together long sustained drives, keeping them rested. And if they were out there a ton, it was going to show up on the scoreboard. So a good second half from the Miami Dolphins to your point, they get to 5 and three in the division. One that looks significantly more competitive on paper now than we probably would have anticipated early in the season. I want to go to the AFC south and it's a team that we've picked apart for the last couple of years, one that I've been overly critical of it. And I think rightfully so they now find themselves in first place, and that was the Tennessee Titans. Look, they didn't do anything pain to reinvent the wheel. They didn't put Malik Willis in positions where he could cost them the game. But the Houston Texans knew what was coming, still couldn't stop it. I mean, Derek Henry puts the entire team on his back yet again. 32 carries 219 yards for a pair of scores. It's now four straight games of a hundred plus. He's carrying a 22 times. We keep talking about when the tread on the tire is going to wear off and Derek Henry is going to fall off a cliff. This guy only gets better, the more touches he gets. And what it allowed the Tennessee Titans to do is to protect that defense as well. They got off the field on third down, held the Texans to two of 14, and they held the Texans to a 161 yards of offense or 3.2 yards per play. Look, I'm not going to call the Titans a Super Bowl contender by any stretch of the imagination. It's going to piss everybody off in the volunteer state and in the city of Nashville, but they went out there, they executed a game plan. And Mike vrabel, to his credit, at least knows the strength and weaknesses of this football team. Well, they're not. So I don't think any reasonable fan would think this is a Super Bowl contender. And now kudos to Derek Henry, the guy had a 190 yards after first contact. The Texans got steamed part of it was the quarterback change.

I do love their kicker as you know Ivan McPherson. He's he had a little bit of a slump in the middle of the season, but the guy who can just stay out of the locker room during the Super Bowl half time to watch Snoop Dogg is reemerged. "Men and women, the people of America, I am sick and tired of athletes. And coaches who supposed to be shooting three pointers, supposed to be coaching teams, congratulations to Steve Kerr. The only reason he won, he won, right? The only reason that he won because he was the Arizona alumni. But outside of that, you supposed to be doing your thing, but they putting their hands in a politics in ways in which I think are rooted in stupidity. Steve Kerr came out and said and cried about good laws and just country. Enough is enough. And then he runs off the stage. And then Joe burrows, I love that kid, man. If y'all don't know it's the Bengals quarterback right now, I love them when he was in college, LSU won the national championship. I said, man, that kid got hard. Come back season. It was amazing. And then he came back and he went to the championship and I rooted for him. I said Joe burrow, I hope that you win this thing and be an upset. You know, be a part of an upset victory. However, I have since changed my mind because I believe he's going to walk in and woke. So I don't believe me. Wrote a clip. You got to be able to go through a rigorous process to be able to buy something like that, I think. So, you know, hopefully the people that get paid to make those decisions figure that out, my job is to play football, but hopefully the politicians can figure that one out.

"While in Joe's mind, it wasn't just the knee he wanted to kind of rehab and get better. He also wanted to improve his arm strength. And once I heard that, it became very clear to me that this is who this guy is. Yeah, and when you talk about the evolution of Joe burrow, Ben, it's impossible to not obsess about what happened when they made the AFC title game, right? So the Bengals this year, they go ten and 7, they win the AFC north narrowly. And here they are against a team that has made four in a row of these. The Kansas City Chiefs and supposedly the loudest stadium and not merely the NFL about according to the Guinness Book of World Records, the entire world. The Bengals promptly go down 21 to three to the Kansas City Chiefs. And the entire world myself included is just like all right, this was cool, nice little Cinderella run, but you know, let's move on to the big boys now. But how would you describe what happened from there? Honestly, it felt like as I was sitting there watching the game, I go, wait a minute. Didn't I just watch this game a few weeks ago in Cincinnati? Right, this is week 17 when the Bengals beat the chiefs at home. In that game, Kansas City looked like they were going to run the Bengals out of their own stadium, then all of a sudden, you know, they kind of whipped up a touchdown out of thin air..

"So you and I we talked about this last week on the midweek show. It was just it was difficult to find a path to victory for this Bengals team in Kansas City, even though they already beat them. You know, when they beat in the first time, they got two 70 something you are touchdowns from Jamar chase. The chances of that happening again just were very low. And they didn't happen. I don't know. At the end of the first half as the chiefs were, we thought in range to put more points on the board and basically go in with a commanding lead at halftime, which they had anyway at 21 to ten. It just looked like it might be ugly. And all of a sudden the Bengals just end up hanging around. And I thought it was look, I thought it was Lou and rumo's defense who did most of the lifting here. Yeah, and really kind of some surprising adjustments there because at the beginning of the game, it was really interesting to see how many really easy throws and I guess run it running lanes that Patrick Mahomes had. It seemed like they were really scared at the beginning and scared it's probably not the right word. They were trying to prevent that backbreaking touchdown. They're not scared. They're just trying to not make it happen, you know. They're doing they're doing what they're supposed to do. They want to prevent that back breaking touchdown. And so I thought it was interesting to see how they were just giving there's a lot of uncovered backs out of the backfield. At the beginning of that game, mahomes had a lot of running lanes. And so it was just kind of like here. Yeah, let tyreek hill take the 5 yard stop. You're like, go ahead. You can have that. But the problem is, that can really snowball quickly if you're the chief's offense because they know then how to transform that little bit of momentum into a quick game and then they just kind of keep rolling on you like that. But I was shocked at the way that as they came back, they just tightened and tightened and tightened, and their lateral tackling. Their lateral coverage ability when the chiefs tried to start expanding them to the sidelines was fantastic. I mean the tyreek hill fourth down attempt, which was one of the two plays that I think absolutely changed the tenor of this game for the Bengals was fantastic. It was also a bad play call, I think. Because he didn't have any blockers out there. But that said, like, to tackle him in that moment, if your Eli Apple is hard. It's like one of the hardest things to do. Yeah, absolutely. And look on that play. Look, you want to put tyreek hill in motion and okay, if there are still dudes on that side of the field, he is no longer an option for you if you're Patrick Mahomes. So that's an issue there. You got to look away from him, and if no one else open, you got to fire it into the stands and then go take your three points. But the way they were able to and look, we'll have to seat all 22 because I don't know exactly what was going on downfield on some of these plays where mahomes was extending plays behind the line of scrim. There were some three man rush approaches to him, but there were places where mahomes is doing his thing where he's running in circles behind the line of scrimmage and just no one ever came open. And he ends up he end up taking a couple of coverage sacks..

"Guys, jumping to the present here. This year's Bengals team is headlined, of course, by two young superstars, quarterback Joe burrow, and wide receiver Jamar chase. Let's start with Joe burrow. His rookie season as every football fan knows ended prematurely with a terrible knee injury. What have you guys seen from him in year two? Just the continued Ascension of what we saw in year one, that offense was really starting to click and Joe burrow was really starting to come into his own when the injury happened. And so the thought was, is he going to go back and start year two the way he started year one and he has and he picked up right back where he left off and we've seen especially over the last few weeks where the coaching staff is kind of you don't want to say taking the training wheels off of him, but there was a little bit of a conservative nature where they're trying to protect him a little bit and use the run game and try not to get him hit as much. And then they just realized if we're gonna win, we're gonna need to put the ball and Joe burrow's hands. Throwing the other way. Jamar chase. Touchdown. And Joe burrow. Cold blooded in the fourth quarter. Set it up perfectly. They've been protecting in really two the defining games a win over the ravens and then a victory over the chiefs. In week 17, he combined for 971 yards. 8 touchdowns and no interceptions. It's an incredible run like you just don't see it. To the end zone touchdown Higgins. As he Pete Orleans ten yard touchdown strike. How the day Joe burrow and you have that guy you can beat anybody. Their offense is so explosive. This year, Joe burrow has thrown 15 touchdown passes of more than 30 yards, the next best in the league is Tom Brady with 8. Chase there is no chase. It's a touchdown. Nobody's going to catch him in the open field. 69 yards to go with a 72 yarder in the first quarter. They have this three headed monster what he calls the athletic freak shows on the outside with T Higgins, chase, and Tyler Boyd in the slot that has really turned them into kind of what lately has looked like an unstoppable force in the passing game. Coming out of LSU borough was also talked about a lot as a great leader and we've seen him give some pretty powerful public speeches. What insights do you guys have about his leadership specifically within this team and how it's impacted the locker room and the organization? Really, it's more impressive than 971 yards in a touchdown no interceptions. And that's really what's made the difference in this team. He's been the perfect fit here because this team needed somebody who had this overwhelming confidence that people gravitate to. There was never any thought of hey this team hasn't wanna play off game or they haven't been very good for a while. It was what can I do to come in and play good football and improve to the organization that I was the right guy to draft me and then prove to everybody else that I could be a really good player in this league for a long time? And people are just drawn to him. They love the way that he carries himself. He has this work ethic that is the stuff of legend and it has created this sort of team that has this ability to just, no matter how much they're down, no matter how bad it seems to be, they have a real resiliency to them. And that's because they always kind of know that burrow is going to find a way to bring them back, Trey Hopkins, bangle center said to me, he's eager for the fight. And it's not even just answering the bill. He's a guy that he's eager for the 5 years joys it. And he's the guy you want to follow because you look in his eyes and you see he is having fun. With your Los Angeles, the competition and he is having fun. He is the ultimate competitor. And it comes off as maybe cocky to the outside, but to everybody inside the building, it's not at all because they've seen the work that he's put in and they know how much he relishes it. And they needed cocky. The Bengals needed that attitude in a huge way and I think it's been the biggest reason why they have turned around and had their perception of their entire franchise totally changed. Well, you want a little insight on what Paul said about he's ready for the fight during the last year when he was hurt, he binged The Queen's Gambit. And he became a chess fan, and he has a chess board in the locker room and Cheetos is the best chess player on the team and he destroyed Joe burrow and Joe was asked about it this week and he said he didn't play him again for a long time because he had to get better. I mean, just a casual chess game in the locker room and he took it that series where I'm not gonna play you into I get better and with that confident cocky demeanor that Paul talked about, said, next time we play, I think it's gonna be different. Cut to Joe burrow lying in bed, seeing chess formations on the ceiling. Well, as you guys have mentioned, Joe burrow's favorite target this year has been his old LSU teammate Jamar chase. Chase set a Bengal single season record this year for receiving yards with 1455. He also scored 13 touchdowns, was named to the Pro Bowl and pretty much seems like a lock for offensive rookie of the year. As you guys have been watching him week in and week out, what in your opinion makes him so special? Well, I mean the talent number one, but I think he's got kind of that same mental strength that Joe burrow has. It doesn't come across quite the same way, but people may not be familiar with the night he was drafted, he said he was going to come to Cincinnati and break all the records. And that's a pretty brash thing for a guy to say who's never taken a snap in the NFL. And then he gets here and he can't catch anything. He's dropping passes left and right in OTAs and in training camp and I don't think anyone ever thought they made a wrong pick, but there was a lot of head scratching of what's going on here and then you get to the regular season and the first throw throwing his way is not an easy catch at all and he snares it and he's just been off to the races since then. Going deep Jamar chase he's got it chase to the end zone. That's a Bengal touchdown. And that deserves a while. He's done it all different ways he early in the year he beat people down the field for these long shots and then teams start trying to take that away and they hit him underneath and he breaks attack or two, and he's off to the races again. Look at that little bucket chase go. My goodness, what a gear he just found. Chase for the touchdown. Wow, chase is on the case. He can basically do whatever he wants and they are finding ways that work best in specific games. Well, the Bengals opponent on Saturday is the Las Vegas Raiders. These teams met in week 11, and since he pretty much stopped them, what were the keys to their victory in that game? And what will the Bengals have to do to get the same result this weekend? Well, as much as that looked like a stopping, that was a very close game for a long time and then they kind of went into that game with a mindset that they weren't going to expose Joe burrow to that pass rush that the Raiders have and they just ran the ball ran the ball ran the ball. It was really the defense that kind of kept them in that game until they're the dam will eventually break philosophy happened and they started hitting some plays in that game. You may see a similar approach this week because it's going to be cold. I think they're going to need to rely on Joe Mixon again, but I still think that they've learned over the last part of this season that the your best chance to win is with the ball and Joe burrow's hands, no matter how cold his hands are. And I think we're going to see them open it.

"I mean, I think the one obvious first battle of Hall of Famer there is Wagner. Yeah. Which is funny because he was always the quietest of all those people. Right, right. But I do think that to go back to the point. I do think that lynch probably sneaks in because of a dearth of running packs that are going to be coming up and also the personality. And it was just funny because he was so anti media early in his career. And now he's just like fun loving guy. And I mean, people do respond to that. So I bet he sneaks in. But Scott, your predictions, now I've given you enough time to take your predictions on the championship games. As a political side, I like the fact that the rams have a wide receiver named Schrodinger. So I'm just going to have to come up with lots of like obscure jokes, but you know, and the answer I'm going to stick with, you know, should I should I stick with my original so I stick with bill's cheese. Despite the buy, I'm still not gonna pick the Titans 'cause I still, you know, I just, I don't think they're gonna be favored in any, you know? You know, I mean, listen, I mean, if Derek Henry comes back after the tie game completely fresh. It's fair. It's very funny. I don't think it's a bad pick at all, but should I do it? Should I pick, I'm just gonna say it. Is this high here? The worst possible feeling for fans in West New York, bill's patriots. The Patriots. Wow. Wow. Strong. That is as bold as Farley's Bengals selection at the beginning of the season fair that's worked out for a little while. And you know, I certainly like, but to me, there's just it's very tough. I think the ravens could. And I actually, like, I think the chiefs are still like, you know, they can certainly get it together. You know, to sort of get there. They would not, you know, I would see, I would see the kind of ravens ravens chiefs, you know, Titans, patriots, all at a pretty tight knot there. And so much is going to depend on matchups. But, you know, I just look at like the pages have a lousy schedule. They have really good coaching. So, you know, you know, scarily, I think you have a chance to do it. But it would just be something about like, and don't you think like the bills need to kill their fathers? They're going to go to the Super Bowl. That could also actually be a guy can also see that being a divisional round matchup too, which would be really interesting. So it's kind of hard to make these picks without knowing what the seedings are. Oh, just just because it would be fun let's say bill's patriots. And then in the AFC, I'm going to say packers just because I think they're probably going to have the number one seed, say packers rams..

So through four games, the Bengals are three and one. And I predicted they would go four and 13 this year. And what's the last year? I met this year. "Fourteen yards to get him into fuel range at the beginning of of the second half so there definitely should be more of a role for going forward because the need. Yeah i agree with you and you know. It is disappointing about mixing in the past blocking aspect. At least because borough all preseason training camp was was applauding about how much work he is put in how much he seemed to have been improved in that aspect but not showing it on. Pf scores in some of the some of the tape that we've seen. Let's let's kinda start closing this up a little bit How i mean how. Big of a factor is jackson. Carmen gonna be if he does start either positively or negatively. I mean he's kinda it's obviously kind of a bit of a wildcard and if he does get the star john do you feel exponentially worse better about the same from the offensive line and because we know the offensive line is going to be one of the biggest keys of this game so the steelers can just. They can do whatever they want against. The bengals offense landed just have done it for the past few years. But they also know how to get creative in terms of Pressure packages against like last year. Against when it was pittsburgh i just could. I need both hands to count. How many times. They ran just simple stunts in twists. And the bengals were completely perplexed in the know how to manage it and then gave up a lot of pressures on borough because of it. And that's kind of what the bears did against borough last week and i think there were better at managing and handling it but like throwing a rookie to take on that when you have both. Tj wide camera looping around each other. it's going to be a lot if he's tasked with the but that was also something that he was really good at clemson. He was a great mental processor in pass protection he could pass off and received stunts in loopers with with ease compared to most twenty year. Old a true junior in college game. So it's it's a great match of opportunity for him to showcase maybe his biggest strength and pass protection but at the same time. It's steelers against the offensive linemen and it could spell trouble if needed. I wholeheartedly agree. I'm kind of i mean. It's nothing ends xavier's to a fellow though. It's kinda like this. Your second round draft pick. This was your highest draft investment on the offensive line in one of the biggest areas in which you need to improve this football team. I mean i understand the need. The desire for a veteran is some veteran consistency. but i'm kind of the mindset here. it's it's not like sufi lows. Lighten the the film on fire right. It's it's you may want. You may want to think about getting arm in there at some point and you know this week would be tricky to do so in Could have the ability to blow up in your face. But it's a high investment you made in this kid and you seem to believe in him at least to some degree like but for the first time i think we can actually legitimately asked this question like the defense line still really good regardless of tdy. Plays the cam still beast. They still have. Melvin ingram. who's Even on the other side of the thirty now but now they're off of the line is kind of in disarray. Very much in flux. it's a lot more experienced. Bengals offense line. Isn't there's still a lot of questions with so now. We can actually ask the question with the bengals defensive line playing really well. Do the bengals have an advantage against the steelers offense aligned. More than the steelers haven't advantaged against the bengals Very close this lot closer than it has been recent years. I i actually think so. I actually think that they do based on. You know very small sample size and i'll tell you why because when the bengals did have some success on defense against pittsburgh in in some of those go back and look at the stats but it was when gino atkins was able to generate inside pressure and get into the backfield and you know we've seen years and years and years worth of bengals edge rushers dunlap even and others get their arms..

"You can get those kinds of wins but when you don't get a win that you are expected to maybe get in chicago. You feel like you should have won that one and now here you go approaching the division games and the pittsburgh steelers feeling that they're still one online. They got a great win in buffalo week one. But they're still feeling like a bit more vulnerable than we have seen in recent history. You know just going in here for feeling good about where this team is headed feeling good about. Hey we made the adjustments on offense. Borough looks better. Hey we went into pittsburgh and we beat this team. I think it's really important and we can talk about how the the pittsburgh game on monday night. Football saves zack. Taylor job last year. That was at home. This is going on the road and beating the bully in their house. It's it's incredibly important not only do not only all of those factors matter but like pittsburgh remembers game to as much as bengals fans remember. Pittsburgh definitely remembers him humiliated in a setting that they normally don't get humiliated. Not only on monday night. Football but in paul brown stadium where they haven't lost since two thousand thirteen like if it was at a point where the rivalry didn't really feel like a rivalry anymore. One team will always come out up in the bengals just with no expectations. Knock their socks off literally at midfield. Jujitsu shots so the pittsburgh steelers remember that. And i think that's going to have some type of an edge with that and yeah i think outperforming them on their turf note with that in the back of their minds. It is another level of impressiveness. I guess in a really really really really weird way to put cheese canton right now. You know that the steelers are looking at this game. is there. Get right. Game after losing to las vegas in home right. I mean you know you. That's just the mindset that steelers in their fan base have about the bengals and especially when the bengals go to heinz field. It's just that's that's how they feel in. If the bengals are truly in my opinion if the bengals are truly feel like they are turning a corner and heading in a direction that they want ahead in under. Zack taylor with joe. Borough is a quarterback. They need to not only play while they need to win this game. I think if they go to one and two and it's another road loss and what if it's another one possession loss shoulda woulda coulda as that's gonna just raise a lot of questions man but if they win their two one going into plane probably open three jaguars game and we'll be on here. There'll be a ton of optimism regardless of how they win. It's still bad point of the season. Where is just wins and losses that set the narrative. Yup yup you got any any others before we end the segment and talk about the match against the steelers for our believe it or not now move defined my tongue.

"The orange black insider bengals podcasts. Cincy jungle dot com coming at you. I'm on the road at a different venue. That i normally am as you can see kinda from the background here but coming at you to talk about the week two loss it very very odd odd game to say the very least a frustrating game a game of missed opportunities. If you're the cincinnati bengals you have to be sitting there wondering how the heck you lost that game. Rookie quarterback comes into the game. Doesn't play all that well made a couple of plays when it mattered. Most adjusted in fields but For the most part there were opportunities to really grab this game and run away with it and they did not take advantage of it so very very frustrating. The bengals drop went on the road at chicago. Twenty two seventeen a lot of mistakes a lot. I don't know if i don't know if you wanna call it a hangover from the five quarters play last week. I mentioned that on my game preview on since he juggled dot com and a couple of people kind of kind of pooh-poohed the notion. I guess that you know playing an extra quarter may have an effect on this on this team. We've you know we've heard players talked about the short week going into thursday night games. We've heard players talk about all kinds of different things. Eight by the way. Matthew from france high from france matthew. Good gives you look. There were a lot of things in a lot of blame to go around. I know the defense trey. Hendrickson misses the tackle early. But he had it he he was on some plays early onto our. He missed it. I'm sorry he missed the tackle on fields late rather but he had some place earlier in the game. You had sam hubbard in there. A couple of inexplicable penalties Some real real interesting and questionable refereeing in this game. A miss calls a late hit on joe. Borough wasn't called the got it right. The late a play later there was another call. That could have been made on him. A pass interference call on higgins. It should have been called me. Basically everybody's saying that there was a catch. That was ruled a catch for the bears. That a lot of people including dean blandino of fox sports. That shouldn't be a catch. You know the the bottom line is there was a fumble by fields late in the game. Logan wilson who had the late interception to make this game interesting missed not only the scoop and score but just to get the ball and pick it up and fall on the ground. Miss that opportunity And of course you gotta put blame on the quarterback with his three interceptions. A very very weird weird sequence of events for joe borough wearing. He was three straight passes. That were intercepted. And then the next two in a row he throws two touchdowns. It's like what so very very odd game. A lot of issues on the offensive line still still showing up a lot of refereeing issues and the bengals stumbling over their own feet and they lose week to in chicago. Twenty two seventeen leads share this. This is the box score. Courtesy of espn alec to share this kind of as a tale of the tape if you will hear So you look here First downs bengals really on the short end of that one fourteen to sixteen it. This was just a boring boring game until the fourth quarter. I mean you look at this too mean. The defense has a lot of lame. I tweeted this out. The defense a lot of blame in terms of not making those critical place there was another third. In what was it. Third and sixteenth or nineteen a woozy. Mrs tackle that that lets a receiver go by and you know he had a couple of pass breakups late but there's just a lot of different things a lot of different opportunities where you just make some of those plays and you've got yourself a win and that's what's really frustrating. Here you see the passing first downs. Ten to seven bears really went into a shell. When andy dalton left the game with an injury really went into a show went very conservative in relied on. Montgomery montgomery responded. You know he had a lot of tough runs that bengals of tried to corral him and You know he had a lot of tough runs. But you know didn't Still made plays when it counted particularly at the end of the game in the bengals needed a critical stop. You know had that Basically blame game clinching. First down there bengals six twelve fifty percent on third down bears not. They were slightly worse. Six fifteen both teams own over one on fourth down total plays there. I mean the the bears kind of in the first half or hogging the football sixty one to fifty four total plays I mean totally are. It's just not enough yards for either team. You kind of expect that from the bears with a rookie quarterback coming in off the bench to forty eight to six was the total yards Eleven to ten drives four point six yards per play three point four yards per play just ugly offensive showing by both teams nineteen of thirty. I mean four credit the bengals with four sacks some of which were coming up the middle again there was there seemed to be some miscommunication on the middle in terms of picking up linzers. Picking up pressure. Jona williams had at an issue early where he kind of had a quin on the end there. Then quinn moved inside and got off of off of williams and got a sack of borough so bengals got three sacks of their own though. They've got six in the first two games. So they're getting after the quarterback they're getting back they're they're creating plays and i know like i was saying the defense had some issues where they did not come up in these clutch situations. Henderson's gotta make that wrap up and make that tackle on fields. You know wilson's got scoop up that fumble. There's a couple of tackles by defensive backs on third down that they did not make but when you really look at it. The defense on the road really only gave up thirteen points. Seven of those points came on a job..

"What's up everybody. It's the orange. Black insider bengals podcast coming at you. Once again the big wednesday night show on anthony. he's john we've had a jam packed and will continue to have a jam packed week as we get closer to week one of the regular season. I hope you're all doing well. John what's going on in We've had a lot of a lot of fun stuff. Come out this week and more to come of stuff so far out of stuff plan. But that's the nature of late august when you do in a football show things ramping up. Training camp is ramping up. Preseason is winding down was lots of talk about. What's going to happen in the next few days here with the bengals gotta lot on tap tonight for this show. We're going to recap the loss to the washington football team. We're going to play this. This newer little game. We've been playing the last few weeks. Believe it or not to talk about some topics and see whether or not we believe the hype and or panic surrounding certain headlines with the cincinnati bengals. We're gonna pit preview a position group. We're gonna start wrapping nat series up and We've got a a small sound bite of the weekend. Obviously another preseason game to talk about the finale against miami. So we're gonna get to all of that. We're going to try and cram it into our maybe earlier if we can but we'll see we sometimes trying to go along but We're going to turn out to go super long. We did the water cooler chat earlier. Today we released in interview. We briefly teased it once. And then we kinda tease you. A little bit more about it with definitely is still so go check out that interview really really cool that we were able to talk to both of them and then of course we've got the show tonight and friday listener questions live. We're going to be joined by jake. Klis cow and on dangled the all angles website and john. That's going to be following. Jay has been trying to get on the show for a while. And i feel like i've been leading on to get him on the show but we just haven't been able to do it. It's weird because you know they do. I guess their own little bengals podcast. If you guys have ever heard of disaster definitely support them because they need all the sport they can gather deftly behind us in the ratings one. Not but you know the scott his own schedule as james but it's nice to combine the two guys across the Right before the season to preview of the season is gonna recap the preseason and kind of interesting question so that should be allowed front on friday. Yeah that'd be a lot of with. We're going to do that at three eastern on friday and then we're going to also try probably after we gotta get with the rest of the guys on this junk channel but try and get a a conglomeration show with with ace zam and matt and the two of us and kind of talk about what's going on as we go to the regular season with cincinnati bengals. So we're we're going to be doing a lot. I also want to say this. I know we've got a lot to get to john yield You're able to cash out and divvy out the money to the foundation. The ken anderson alliance and the ken riley foundation. Unfortunately we received some not great news. This week about kanter sending ken riley regarding the hall of fame. But i just want to personally thank all of our listeners. All the cincy jungle readers because we well surpassed our goal. What did we get to john about. Twenty two twenty three hundred dollars or something that was divvied out evenly amongst those three charities which is awesome twenty two Hundred dollars twenty to forty six two thousand two hundred forty six so i just added. We added just four Four dollars to make it an even twenty to fifty so seven hundred and fifty dollars was distributed to all three charities. The payments are confirmed. They have left the go fund. We actually did get an email from Nolan j henson who is a committee member for the rally foundation. Rewound email us said. I would like to acknowledge your contribution to the ken. Riley foundation co Inc your generous donation will go a long way toward assisting a student attend attending college or technical school since. No money's used a pay committee members one hundred percent of your donation will go towards assisting a student and as we did for all three of these like we cover the cost of the fees for for whatever like bank takes out of the so one hundred percent of all your guests. Proceeds are contributing to these great causes. And we've got some recognition there too. So thank you guys so much for being a part of that making it a resounding success. It's going to impact a lot of people's lives. Who definitely need it. That's awesome we do. Have i have not forgotten. We do have giveaway. As for some of the donors we need to settle all of all of the donations. Close that up and then obviously get the money to the respective charities but we'll be announcing some winners of surprises there. Thank you so much everybody for donating wanted to acknowledge that had not had the chance to do so this week but wanted to acknowledge everybody who contributed their so. Thanks for that. John thanks for spearheading the the go fund me portion of that and getting those donations out. I appreciate that personally as well. Let's just start getting distant bengals staff as well though because there's a lot to get to his. We've mentioned the bengals went to washington and it was a sloppy game. It was there. Were some good things to take away from it. Bengals lou seventeen thirteen. I think john is i. It's kind of a reason why i waited a couple of days to do a quote unquote post game analysis. It's because when. When i watched the game i was like. Wow this is pretty ugly then you kind of take a step back and you see some of the pf data you kinda review some of the the film in certain players and whatnot. Things looked a little better than they did. Kind of watching that game. Live at least for me What were your impressions. We're gonna talk to march as when you're talking about a lot of players are obviously that that were part of that that loss but What were your overall impressions. Now that you've had almost a week to digest second. It was the quintessential preseason game. I think they played washington. The last time there was a preseason it was doing haskins is like first game or something new that washington too and i remember that game being pretty ugly too. But it's it's a sloppy that there's not a lot of production moving the ball a lot of punts in that kind of comes with the territory of preseason but it's also a reminder of what the preseason is about it's not evaluating the overall team success in the team productions about these individual evaluations and sometimes that goes into evaluating position groups as a whole and honestly even though the bengals lost seventeen to thirteen. They didn't have a lot of offensive success for most of the game. Outside of kinda towards the game with a run. Blocking improved and chris evans jobless patrick going again. The offensive line. I in second-string looks very good against the defense line. That's is deep and talented as washington's is an even without joseph aside off in his first ever. Preseason game was still pretty decent to i think. Dj readers specifically has maybe russell like six or eight times in two preseason games the as three press russillo coupla quarterback. It's so ease looking like a brand new player himself. The irbe first team looks pretty energetic. Tricks i guess didn't have as much success against washington's offensive line as they did against tampa bay's but i think both of those units are the main storylines right now. That was those were the unions that got the majority of the emphasis in the offseason in terms of what needs to be improved the most of the investments in free agency in the draft. And right now..

We had anthony on the show the prior wednesday. We had both ken anderson. And and ken riley the second on the show and we are raising funds for the all three of their foundations. And i'm gonna put this link. I know i've asked for donations for the past couple of weeks. Now were only leaving this active for a couple more days here so i want to have one final push. We've raised twelve hundred dollars as we speak and we. We had a goal of twenty twenty one kind of a lofty goal in. I'm very proud of our listeners. And proud of since jungle readers who have donated to this cause to help give that money to those three charities. Wanna try and really reach that goal if we can. We've got prizes to give out so if you donate get your contact information over twice a week and make sure that if you do win some prizes we had some cool stuff that we can get that over to you. Thank you for your donations if you've already donated if you haven't yet even donating things can riley's jersey number thirteen bucks fourteen bucks for kenny anderson's jersey number fifteen bucks. Seven plus eight. For anthony munoz jersey. Whatever you can do we appreciate it. I hate to start the show off with a little plug like that. But it's only gonna be active for a few more days raise a lot of money. Were pretty proud of it but we want to get a little closer to our goal if we can and hopefully reach it. Thank you everyone for your support and go check out. Their shows to there are pretty fun talking to all three of those folks about the ring of honor the twenty twenty one bengals and all kinds of different stuff. So we've got a lot to get to start to kind of start with the weekend stuff. things we saw. Maybe you know talking fell wised hall of fame game and all that kind of stuff. Obviously some some recent rumblings of practice is mentioned. The bengals are currently practicing. We take the air right now and some other news and notes. Now there's bits of good news in. There's bits of bad news that we're going to be sharing with you. Most of it is actually pretty positive and other parts of it. Maybe not so much but a lot of different things. We're gonna go through especially as it pertains to the bengals there. Some news and notes with the afc north. We gotta get to and then of course the rest of the nfl. We're gonna get to all of that if you are new here. This is the water cooler chat. This show goes over headlines. We go into a tiny bit of analysis on all those headlines around the league. Mostly on centering on the cincinnati. Bengals we go through a lot of different stuff but then we are wednesday deep dive show. We do listen to questions. Live on friday so we try and bring you stuff between our show matt. Mimics chuck talk and or is the new black by ason zim on the jungle podcast channel. We try and have something for you every single day of the week. If we can at least in the weekdays so go on your favorite podcast streamer subscribe lease rating. We appreciate that. And if you like what we do on video channel subscribe to this youtube channel hit the bell for notifications after you subscribe so you know when we go live when new content is available in all that good stuff all right. Well let's let's start with it and we will start with what's been going on over the weekend with the cincinnati bengals. We always start with cincinnati bengals. And that's start again. Of course we're going to go through that then the afc north and then of course the rest of the nfl while let's recap this on cincy. Jungle dot com. I'll coffee pace this for you folks as well This is on since younger On recapping the sunday practice. Now there's been a lot of talk about where joe borough is doing isn't doing in practices and not so much participation wise but Some certain things where he is. There was a report by paul dana junior in the middle of last week where there is maybe a look of tentativeness by joe borough in that knee injury. There was some other Some other concerns missing missing balls and just a lack of reporter. Though a lot of the videos we've seen shows a lot of good plays by t higgins by auden tate by by march chasing. So it's a little bit of a little bit of a mishmash guess of conflicting information. But the good news is joe borough after hearing all this chatter and we will kind of scroll through this because there's a lot of tweets on this on this poster but after this is what was encouraging to me after hearing for basically the better part of a week joe borough wasn't wasn't doing well was maybe struggling with some things. The offense was struggling with some things. The offense was behind the defense by the way. If you listen to anthony windows when he joined us last week he talked about how. That's kind of a normal thing. That's a frequent thing that happens during training camp so he wasn't overly worried about it..

"That for so long was not officially recognized by the team wasn't even like it was just ignored by all capacities to see this kind of growth. There's is special At least from my end for for what we do for the site but also just to see just grow because of you guys. It is genuinely special. Look the the the. There are a lot of great folks before john. And i headed to cincy jungle before we started this show all of that. They're other great shows before us You know a lot of great editors in those who spearheaded the website before us and to their credit not only were. They doing great work but they tried to engage the team in and there wasn't always a serious tone from the team being taken about what we did at the website. What we do on the show. There were a couple of olive branches that were extended but You know now it just like you said there seems to be quite a different approach and a lot of different things. I think people are seeing in. The team may be seeing the amount of page views in the listenership of all of our shows. And all of that. And they kind of are taking stock. And saying you know these are these are some folks that Are doing some good things along with the many great reporters beat writers all of that the cover the team and You know i. I don't wanna make this a gush vast about what we do buy it was just. It was pretty humbling in pretty cool to see to see what what were associated with on this specific poll and they met the t. Mentioned it so if you are so inclined I did put the link to the poll if you have not put the if you've not filled that out go ahead and do that even if you don't put us down or whatever that's cool too but Check it out. It was just kind of a cool fan engagement initiative by the team yet again. So kudos on them. And i don't know if you've got anything else to add on this but i wanted to share all that stuff and talk about that because it gets pretty important for the bengals fan base and we're allowed to flexible bid you know. We worked hard for this recognition. So you know. We've rented this in three seconds of spotlight so definitely check out the pulled. Put your put your input in would mean a lot to us. Obviously them yep. So let's we're we're gonna move on here and we are going to do a do the positional first or you do the The breakout player. I john lew let you decide. Let's see the preview. I okay so before we do that though we got. We got to tell the folks about our buddies over at symbol. And we have since we've been talking about symbol a little bit this week. "Their fans and you know the whole pageantry of their brand if you will get them more involved in the experience where it's like. It's not just a football game right. it's an event. And i think that is also wording that has been used by a by blackburn in the team maybe while the director of content it wants to be more of a live event in experience. Something where you want to go there. Not just because the bengals football so because this is the best show in town i guess and i think that has been the message for this entire offseason. The entire game experience is going to be enhanced. The rule the jungle campaign is really just all wrapped in a ribbon. They're going to have like a special like ruler. Fan who's gonna sit in the throne very comfy front speaking from experience but i i guess that's going to be there their their special tradition now like Leading the who'd age hair for kickoff but everything about this it just embodies that message like our biggest strength. Regardless of the quality of the team is our fans they they still support a still come back year after year despite what our performances let's reward that s mixture of the key going back and let's make sure that this is experience seven or nine times a year now in the regular season that they want to keep going back to the cincinnati bengals fan base is not the largest contingents contingency in the fan base is in the nfl. But by god john. And i think you and i embody this a based on the amount of work we put into this show the way. The website cincy jungle and everything. But i think look. Passion in loyalty are two of the biggest traits for since the cincinnati bengals fan base and there are a number of people who have been longtime season ticket holders through thick and thin a lot of thin more so than thick. I guess or vice versa depending on how you look but the point is that this kind of resonated to me in a way that hey we are going to really. We've always valued your loyalty as a team. We've always valued you coming back to the stadium and all of that. But this kind of a deal where it's were recognizing it and we are want to let you know that we are valuing that loyalty and that passion that you always show us being bengals management as as a team. So here's in case. You did not read this. Here's kind of the premise of all of this right. This is on bangles dot com to in this is from elizabeth blackburn. She wrote this piece up on. Bengals dot com. Today we set the tone for the twenty twenty one season as we launch our new campaign rule the jungle rule the jungle signifies the high standards energy we expect to see on the field in the stands and in all areas of our organization rule. The jungle is a mentality. That displays are confidence and strength rule. The jungle is a feeling of exuberance. Each fan will feel on game day. Like a queen or king sitting on a throne as we celebrate together in a stadium that is back to full capacity to rule is powerful. Great empires are built by the bold effective and revered leaders throughout history envisioned schemes to reach new heights build impressive infrastructure by mobilizing the masses under a common goal and won battles to assert their dominance build win rule. This is the path forward. So that's basically the message there. There is a picture of the throne with seven of the bengals core players. There that of course there are more that will be deemed as core players going forward but those are seven of the core guys as we sit here today that you got joe mixing on the sheeran thrown their the that he has once graced might thing with this. I mentioned it a little bit on the water cooler chat. But i found this to be interesting john in the past. It would seem that these mantras that came from the team. These team slogans. All of that. It was marvin lewis putting these slogans on t shirts and whatnot. It was zack. Taylor coming up with the seize. The day new day all that kind of stuff. This is coming from the front office. Maybe the other ones did as well but that was not the impression that the team put forward that was not the impression to coach the players. Put forward this is coming from even higher up from the co from the coaching staff. And that to me was was something that made me pause in tennessee. That's a little different. Yeah it makes all the the past efforts in this type of Cast because you mentioned like the marvin lewis slogans and as the years went on the got more more of a parody of themselves. And then like you zack taylor. In his first year as a head coach believe like he was in lace and local commercials and that was brand new. Because we never saw marvin lewis kinda put himself out there in the team advertisement in a comedic fashion so that was a breath of fresh air. And now it's this which blows all those past efforts out of the water. Because you're right it's coming from management's coming from someone with with blackburn or brown in their name coming from that lineage and you know that there's actual working done to make a difference with this which makes it different but of course it's not going to be deemed different if there isn't a difference palpable difference that you feel in the stadium and i would love to have fans on as the season goes on. We talk to them. We interview them about is the experience in the stadium that different because i think that is buying large word. The bulk of the difference is going to be. It's just you know we can reference the article last week about Ben villains list of top thirty destinations traveled to cincinnati. Being the last like. It's almost like this was a way to counter that or way to boost up those rankings. Because if if that experience in itself matches that of a vikings game of seahawks game of like on a low but another embarrassing idol. No i've never been to really any other. Seems aside from hobart kimberly give the other perspective but like if that is where the majority of the of the differences being made in. I think it's going to be the fans that really see the most and again it's really like you said pain back the fan. Loyalty pain back. Passion always sticking by their side despite thirty years of lack of playoff success. So now you're starting to see it now from the just the coach himself. Who's usually the face of the franchise the now you're seeing it from someone in the executive branch of the organization if you will in that's where most of the change actually happens right away little segue here. Elizabeth blackburn was also in attendance for. Ken anderson's i think you wrote the article up on this on cincy jungle to john covering kenny anderson's new coffee shop that he has opened in conjunction with his foundation. The can anderson alliance That coffee shop is is providing.

"So those i i believe. That's five years of him in a bengals. Uniform is now. Unofficially official if you will is still not considered an official statistics but the numbers are there to be posted and honestly when we're doing some research on this in putting together like the official unofficial top ten career sack leaders and top ten single season sack leaders. I learned a lot about mike reid who had never heard of before my life which is why the ring of honor thing is such a big deal. Mike reid played like five years as one of the first bengals rosters in the early seventies and he's sixth all-time in sacks in unofficial saxon forty nine so it's averaging ten year and which is why like he's listed three times in the top ten single season sack leader list. You had thirteen sacks nineteen seventy-three twelve sacks nineteen seventy to nineteen seventy-one to believe us a two time pro bowler in an all pro. And he was like on the on the smaller size so he was like the gino atkins before gino atkins forty years later but just playing in a totally different era football so just seen that posted for everyone to see in kind of learning about edwards. Obviously coy bacon. Twenty one half sacks american seventy six. That was really nice to see in relates to learn about a bengals four. Great that i never even knew before. He's also country music artists. I guess i that's something. I learned a little bit about him to know. You got gary early in their another guy that Is is a name that that old time bengals fans are familiar with as well and a great guy You know it's. It's really cool to see that. Now i correct me. If i'm wrong i still don't think the nfl has officially recognized those net. More the pro football reference which is like one of the psychic i e gown on the most That they they have done the legwork in compiling this a hopefully this is one of those steps where than the nfl itself. Follow suit and says. Hey you know these are these. Are statistics worth counting in worth Accounting four in terms of nfl history. But yeah coy bacon. And mike read a lot of different. A lot of different players. Get to know those guys when stuff like this happen so appreciate you bringing that up get ready for stats on your baseball stats. With first of its kind. Mlb app brought to you by t mobile. Get in the moma. Data on every single hit launch angle exit velocity. Hang time and you can even.
