"There's so many levels of sickness to this. And I want to be clear, speaking as a public Christian, when you're talking about evil, right? A lot of people, either they don't believe in God, they don't believe in evil, whatever. When you look at something like this, I want to know what you would call it if it's not evil, because here is a man who, I guess, I mean, I haven't said it, but to make things infinitely worse was ostensibly a dedicated Catholic Christian, in other words, it's kind of like the devil wearing priests robes. It's a stunning thing that so he wasn't just some secular person who doesn't believe in anything publicly he put on the face of a man of faith. So I have to ask you to just to go to the beginning. What do you suppose or who do you suppose he was that he would upon entering this life that he would go to them and do something like this? In other words, was it some crazy James Bond narrative he had? And I'm going to be a double agent. I'm going to be, what do you suppose was in his mind? Because a lot of people could get pulled over over time. Life gets tough. Things get complicated and you find yourself drifting. He goes to them. Why do you suppose that was? Well, he was as disgruntled employee. He thought that the FBI didn't appreciate him enough and that the FBI agents around him were trying to dull her. It's not as smart as he was. He always had to be the smartest guy in the room. We know people like that, right? Well, this is the Benedict Arnold story, right? I mean, if you want to go to the ultimate trader, Benedict Arnold felt he was being passed over. He was so amazing, and he was not being acknowledged. So that's kind of like the standard reason, right? That somebody like that, they think, I'm better than everybody. Nobody's acknowledging me. I'm going to get them horrible. Right.

"You clearly been reading, again, obviously. Yeah. No, I just got done with this Benedict Arnold. Chapter, where you look at it, you know, a few hundred years removed and you go. All right, I'm not defending Benedict Arnold. But I get, I get how he got there. Raw deal. That's raw deal. Wow. We should have done that. I meant to say, let's map out some things. Now, I think we got a bonus pulse of the nation. You know what's great about that bit is that there was that massive snowstorm. The crushed Boston and cape and the vineyard and all that. And there was some guys out doing an interview in the snow. And I'm sure you got this because I'm sure we were both on the same tweet. People are like, how great would this be if it was, you know, pulse a boss and I mean, false of the nation, and I'm thinking, yeah, that would have been funny. Those were those were the days my friend. Those were the days. They were missing men. Continued success for everything. And then it looks like we'll see you this week, all right? For sure, I'll connect and make sure that we're, you know, I'd love to love that. How far how far from where I am is it to where you are. At night, 20 LA thing. How long is it going to take me in a car? At night, 20 plus minutes. So after the dinner, I got to come by. I want to see the furnishings. I like to see what kind of finishes we've got. You know, judge you on sort of the layout. John, done. I want to be judged. I will see you this week. Thanks, man. All right, thanks to Kyle Steve, please subscribe, ringer, Spotify, I'm so podcast..
Leftists Degrade Former Sen. Bob Dole on Twitter Following Death
"But here's what one Twitter verified account said about the passing of the great Bob Dole. At the quote, just a friendly reminder to everyone out there deifying that Trump humping ghoul Bob Dole. Serving in the military doesn't automatically make you a saint. Benedict Arnold, Tom cotton, Mike Pompeo, Ron DeSantis, Lee Harvey Oswald, Timothy McVeigh, and Robert E. Lee. All served. In 1976 here's another one from the same account. This one goes out to Bob Dole, good riddance trumper, dancing on your grave. And then they put together a little musical tribute. Literally dancing on the grave. Of campaign. Bob Dole. Here's another one. Now that the trumper Bob Dole is dead. Did he finally let go of that pen? Too soon? Now, he was, again, suffered a heinous war injury. His arm was crippled. He held that pen. To try not to, first of all, sort of deflect from the handicap, but also to prevent people from wanting to shake his withered hand. A guy who gave so much. Of himself. To his country.

Venture the people. There hated him so much that they burned him in effigy right in front of his own house. He later moved to london where he died at the age of sixty in eighteen. "D. then you couple it with he fired rock nation. That's his second agent. He's fired in the last two years and then he had the then. He posted that his new shoes at nike's releasing trash and he had nothing to do with them. Like i get. You can't really figure out kyrie but is there something up there in brooklyn we should pay more attention to. I'll say that kerry is a very different kind of human being And and there's some beauty and genius there but there are some pretty perplexing qualities as well. I mean he's Putting his money into providing water in and and resources into african country or he's tweeting and saying crazy things about this set. And the other thing. I i'm trying to take him as an overall person and not judge him by How would everybody else If he's there and he's playing and he's competing. I don't have a problem with them. I did take some breaks throughout I guess they were. They mental health breaks where they just time. How much should we say. That's not the right thing. I think we're starting to understand a little bit that you need to allow for people to be human beings I think kyrie's is odd. And i i in a way. It could hurt the nets chances of closing this thing out if they can't really rely on on kyrie but the same time he was there in the playoffs. He was great in the playoffs. And if kevin durant has a slightly smaller shoe they probably win a title. Yep or if he's healthy they probably win a title all right so chris. Paul isn't going to lakers going back to phoenix. I think that he's going back to phoenix. So if you go if you rewind I had a reported that. I expect chris paul to opt out into look for one hundred million over three years. So he's got an option for forty four million but it makes sense for him to opt out if you can get one hundred over three. It's more money. He'll make less than that first year. But it's a bigger deal overall and then the sons went on to get to the finals. So that sorta changed. The picture and the issue in phoenix is that they've got to pay the eight and he's looking for max money. They gotta pay bridges. Probably at least twenty if not twenty three twenty five million dollars a year and already paying booker. And so if you pay chris that kind of money long term. They're going to be in the tax now. My argument is is. It's not an issue in year one because extensions wouldn't kick in it'd be an issue near to so yes taxing your two year three. It's you know it's not that hard to move a contract and in my mind. You could probably move chris at that point if you had to. So if i'm robert sauber the owner of the sons. I'm getting done But there was. I forget who we spoke to english Gamble on the radio. I believe Start yes Thank you sorry said something that was. It wasn't like a smoking gun or anything but it was very wishy. Washy about keeping. Chris it was kind of like yeah. Well you know. We'll do our best of it. just didn't come across. All he had to say like the right thing to say was. We hope chris is with the organization for a long time. That leaves you blameless. You try you do it. But he was so wishy washy. It just left to see the doubt and so when i look around the landscape of the nba..

He's indianapolis colts Some carson wentz news coming up for you. In t minus. What five minutes less than five minutes air. Pink is gonna join us. Kepala just nba writer for bleacher report. We'll get his thoughts on the westbrook trade. Speaking of the westbrook trade. I just i. I thought it was interesting. You know it does interesting. That the lakers k the laker. There's a story out today from the l. A. times that russell westbrook and anthony davis russell westbrook and anthony davis and lebron. James had dinner two weeks ago where they discussed this possible union and decided to check their egos at the door. I check their egos at the door and all play together for one last championship. Run and russell. Westbrook would come back to his hometown and try and live up to the legacy of the late great his hero kobe bryant and win a title sounds great. Sounds great. But i just. I have to ask anybody. We're where is solid. We don't have data on russell westbrook you know we have. This is four team in four years. And while i value his ability to bring it every night and i understand he will not be the first or second terms of goto options. Which is is going to be unique form and challenge for him for a guy who's dominated the balsam much. My guess is that let russ be russ a ton in the regular season and as they get close to the regular season they played through a d. they played through lebron and and and russ gets a little bit of the third wheel and and in all candor. We still don't know what the lakers are really going to look like. Because that's three starters. They still have a lot more work to do right. I can't see them. I mean do they or do they do with caruso a free agent like the resign ginsburg rights. What do they do with dan schreuder. They don't want anything to do with them but they can sign in trade him. They have some future draft picks. They they have some stuff they could move. Of course they have taylor and tucker who they've been unwilling to part with but for the right piece they could part with them is still very much a work in progress of a roster. "Thanks so much. I'm out in for colin cowherd with i mean like look. He's been posting about it. Getting a colonoscopy best wishes to our fearless leader so two days ago. Aaron rodgers met with the media. We've been reacting ever. since today. He got a golf cart from david. Bahktiar which i would expect lots of franken. Sins and moore to be left at his locker as aaron rodgers. now at least has won like What are they have on Who wants to be a millionaire right. Lifeline you get a friend. You can air lifelines. We threw a lifeline to randall. Cobb to bring him back to green bay. Look rogers was as forthcoming as any player has ever been when he had. The media listened to him for like four minutes stretch and then answered questions the this is all from his perspective but it felt like coming from a place of honesty. Now there are some concessions in his contract. That took place after. Brian jenkins met with the media yesterday. He's supposed to be in a contract for three years. Two thousand twenty two now the final years. They voided that third year of the deal. Forfeiture provisions were removing the contract preventing the packers from pursuing a pro rated portion of aaron rodgers signing bonus in other words. If he were to retire they couldn't get the because he showed up this year. Hey you show up if you retire at the end of next year. We're not going to go after you're signing bonus even though you're under contract for one more year that would ensure the packers either have to move on from him at the end of the season.

"It's right That's a great gift when you can find someone else's research they spent all that time on and you're like there's a gold mine right there. Yes says everything. Yeah the thing that we liked best about finding that book it was really solely focused on the genealogy of the family. This mardi grundy. Who's who still living on. We were in touch with her. Quite a lot through the research process She's a living descendant of this richardson family and she was able to really piece together. Some of the more intimate details of the family and there were parts. Where because her book was focused more on the genealogy rather than the actual specific house we were really able to compliment her understanding of what happened in the house through the work that we do with things like tax records and census records and maps and so between between the back and forth that we have with with marty. It was really interesting to fill in some of the gaps that she had With this published book so it was. It was a great collaboration. And we really enjoy when we're able to find people who are as excited as we are about. You know what we do that's awesome. Well you guys have done so many projects i remember. Didn't you guys even do Gift evelyn's house didn't he have like wasn't there a story there were. He had some famous guy that might have been partying in his yard. Or something or some crazy. If i remember out of that yeah benedict arnold or something exactly so we when jeff we asked jeff if he had ever had the history of his house and he said yeah i. I went to the historical society and and they weren't really able to help me too much. Which is interesting to me because you have to know what questions to ask when you enter these historical societies. You can't just walk in and say you know. I live on four thirty five street. Tell me the history of my house. It's not really how it works. You kinda have to know exactly what you're need. What records you need to pull. So we civil. Let's let us give us a Give it a shot. And i think jeff was a little incredulous. He's like yeah. You're not gonna find anything so dramatic. He's always like good luck on that right. So we're doing. The research on this place and his house was actually attended house for a larger state so the in the state is actually still behind him. Of course it's all filled in with sub development houses now which kills us but right It was the house where the tenant farmers would live so he went to do the presentation for him he knew he's on trail for the revolutionary war timeframe. The house on his road is directly on the ultra..
Tesla's Bitcoin Selling Is More Than Digital Gold
"What's going on guys. It is tuesday april twenty-seventh and today we are talking about why you shouldn't be stressed about elon. Musk selling two hundred and seventy two million dollars in bitcoin yesterday. Oh whoa of woes. We were betrayed like benedict. Arnold come back to life to give away the heart of our country like the red wedding. Game of thrones but even more violent. We were betrayed. At least that's what you would have thought looking at. Bitcoin twitter yesterday but to understand this. We need a little bit of context. This entire leg of the bitcoin bull market was sparked by tesla's february announcement of one point five billion dollars of bitcoin treasury. It also gave us one of the most iconic a bitcoin space. In retrospect it was inevitable. It put the world's richest man and the internet's most prolific memes ter- in our corner it gave other massive corporations some pause that perhaps it wasn't just a micro strategy doing this bitcoin treasury thing. Of course tesla buying bitcoin. Also flared up some additional tensions. Climate fudd has been significantly worse since the announcement instead of seeing ilan's involvement as evidence that bitcoins energy impact has been overstated and fearmongers. It instead proved to be confirmation too many that ellen has been full of crap about his commitment to the environment from the beginning you on. Musk is in spite of his great wealth. "I've been on Newsmax a bunch of times I know Chris ready and the other folks there and that thrills me and the only reason I don't know this what you're telling me. This is good news eyes that I was away this weekend. Working really, really hard finishing finalizing a manuscript, I could barely turn on the TV. And you know I was thinking to myself. This is so bleak. This is so stunning. I mean, it's like you're in a war and Benedict Arnold goes over to the other side. And you think This is he was one of our best men who knows one of our best man, Benedict Arnold was one of our best military men and he went over to the other side, and I don't know how you get a bigger story than that. That's that's just huge stuff. And so you kind of think. Well, if God is with us, we're in great shape. But if you don't know that God is with you, I would just think that you say this is over that the deep state the forces of socialism, bureaucracy have swamped. The swamp has finally won. But I really do believe as I'm sure you do that the power of prayer. Actually works on that God is he hears our prayers and he is going to come through. But I want to exhort people, folks, So much is on the line there people in prisons and China in prison camps in China. There people all around the world who looked this nation to be a beacon of freedom. That is what we're facing right now, if Sidney Powell and Lin Wood and these others on the president's team are unable To get this information out and tow have judges and justices rule on this fairly I don't know what to say. This is we're experiencing some where experiencing something like what The citizens of Czechoslovakia and Hungary experienced 1948 when they were supposed to be democratic elections that Stalin did promise. Roosevelt and Churchill a pop Stan, to allow these cut these liberate people liberated from the Nazis to choose their form of government and the communist raid the election and the media reported the Reds election was accurate, and the few people who stood up against them would crushed and destroyed and those countries were enslaved. For another 40 years that more recently, the CIA overthrew the elected government in Ukraine and appointed the very corrupt people that made the Bidens rich. It was called a color revolution, and people are saying what we're being subjected to is what the U. S imposed in other countries like Ukraine. We go in behind the scenes. We pull a few strings We slip slip a few lovers. We overthrow the government. We appoint people we want. That's what the deep state that done it overseas. Now they're doing it to us. It's just It's just too mind bending to take in I I have to say again if I weren't a man of faith who believes in prayer and who believes that God eyes on the side of the righteous I would really just be completely freaking out. I know that So many people are praying. I've been on a number of prayer calls. Thousands of people are involved, and they're crying out. The Lord of hosts. God help us. Don't let this country go down. It would be it would be tremendous. Uh, t think that We could get to this point and that we could have an election stolen. I think people should be really angry. The very idea the very idea that anyone a governor Ah, Congressman Ah, Senator President. Potential candidate would be open to cheating. That to me is that that is another headline because it's one thing you know for some corrupt mayor, but we're talking about the nation. I want to respond to that. I don't know how much time we have in this segment, but 20 seconds. Going ahead with the real culprits are the Republican legislators and governors, who in the last two years have not fought off the Democrats, attempts to make cheating easier toe, make black sir and lacks all the Requirements under the ludicrous pretext of racism, as if black people can't be expected. Don't you know you can't trust them? How I d or just signed their own signature? No, they repeat the talking points, including Obama, who I now think is a bum. I cannot I I don't have words to express my disappointment in our former president will be right back. News opinion, passion This is hey of 97. The answer mostly clear 48 degrees. "You eight hundred two eight two two eight eight two whatever you want to talk about fine and dandy great to have you here I will explain a little bit more about this whole bribery and treachery and treason stop what the Democrats have done here not a single witness ever talked about bribery bribery wives never part of their plan until they focus grouped it and found out that the American people had no idea what quid pro quo I mean didn't widely fires people know what it is but what what is it that when the quid pro quo people have no idea so the Democrats found out that bribery he got a rise out of people were quid pro quo didn't SO policy goes out and changes the terms and says yes the president guilty bribery not me one not one what December cues truck but not one witness ever said anything like it went on bribery has nothing to do with what it's intended to mean in the founding documents the country constitution and particularly the impeachment clause now here is why it was a concerning thing to the founders does the name Benedict Arnold ring a bell well you say it does to you but don't forget a bunch of eighteen and twenty four year olds have no idea who amounts a tongue is or Joseph Stalin Benedict Arnold is one of the most famous traitor is in American history and the founders remembered how Benedict Arnold almost lost the revolutionary war for them just a few years earlier George Washington invested full trust in Benedict Arnold placed him in camera in command of the fortifications at west point the US military academy stands there to this day Benedict Arnold was given the full trust of general George Washington over all of the military fortifications at west point but Benedict Arnold the plan to surrender west point to British forces in September of seventeen eighty Benedict Arnold flattened to the British and eventually to England do you know why the British promised Benedict Arnold twenty thousand dollars in that period some money for the capture of west point it was a major American stronghold in the revolutionary war and the British offered Benedict Arnold twenty grand we took it not at twenty thousand pounds twenty thousand pounds is three and a half million dollars in today's dollars today's money so that's how much she was offered and eventually Benedict Arnold why is received by King George as a hero he was given a lavish pension and that's even after he failed Benedict Arnold failed the young nation won its independence despite the traitor so it's after that that the founders put together well around that time a bit for the writing the founding documents the declaration has been written the constitution this is the kind of thing that they were worried about bribery treachery high crimes ms they were thinking treason there needed to be a way to get rid of the elected officials before the next election if such harboring this things happen like Benedict Arnold all the impeachment clause yeah thing to do with the quid pro quos of foreign policy which every president has engaged in you know trump trump made the point they they what they want to impeach Nixon because he wire tapped the water gate headquarters of the Democratic National Committee and yet he was wiretapped here wise spied on by the FBI via the fires a warrant on card Carter page and they want to impeach him so trump was on fox and friends today let's start here with audio sound bite number three he was not for what twenty five minutes with them today on the on the phone and we have just a few of the sound bites are here he is talking about the the altered their documents to the FISA warrant application to to surveil Carter page the bomb shell that was reported late yesterday afternoon this is what trump said about a road up the phony CA Hillary Clinton paid for it and the Democrats lot of it had to do they stay with you great they give a server to crowd strike or whatever it's called which is a company owned by a very wealthy Ukrainian why did they give it to you cranium company that's what I yes actually on my phone call it you know yes it's very point blank because we're looking for corruption why should we be giving hundreds of millions of dollars to countries when this is kind of corruption you look at my call I said you know corruption also by the way going back to that why is in Germany putting up money wise in France putting up money all of the European nations where are they putting up yet the European Union how come it's always the United States to put some money this sucker is why is it always the United States what it means is how come other people are trying to take care of your claim versus Russia why is it always us the French are doing it in a protected claim the Brits are doing we protect you quite well the answer is they don't have a defense to help out with because we pay for theirs too now this this business of the crime strike company they are headed by a former Ukraine you hate to put this theory that the Democrats server is in Ukraine that's kind of out there there are there are to Ukraine shout was activity is that real late two they attempt to undermine trump's campaign and presidency now the popular the popular belief is that the crown start crowd strike version of Ukraine involvements kind of bogus it nobody can prevent that nobody knows where the DNC server is and that it's in Ukraine or not nobody knows now see only hill shows up yesterday and what she cleverly dead was debunked that and then take the dog barking of that to suggest Ukraine had nothing to do it was all the Russians but she was dead wrong about it and she knows that she was wrong this is a woman who shows up claiming she's a non partisan she's not a non partisan she is a left wing activist like they all are she worked at the Brookings Institution over left wing think tank or not non partisan the truth about Ukraine is that there were Ukrainians attempting to undermine trump's campaign one of the Russians were in on it with them or not is irrelevant the Ukrainians did they have people trying to undermine trump that happened she tried to make it look like that that didn't happen because the crown strike version of Ukraine about but it's not true but we know that the Ukrainians were involved politico and The Washington Post any number of others did stories the Ukrainian court even convicted a couple of people for trying to undermine trump selection it did happen Ukraine was involved and it's kilo understand that because that explains why trump was sold reticent to give them any money it's why he was demanding that they show they had indeed that era of corruption the previous Ukrainian president prior to the lunch he is who had helped undermine trump's campaign had worked against it remember the political story I think we were the first to bring to your attention that the Ukrainians now had to do a one eighty because trump won the election and they had to now show that they were sorry and wanted to be on trump's good side there's no question that you're you're crane meddled in the trump election the trump campaign what the Russians did or didn't either but Ukrainians this truck knows it so they elect a new president is a landscape remember all the Obama years we didn't give them a dime this is another thing here is all of these witnesses in curing Fiona hill don't worry your great was defenseless against these mad people Russians well Ukraine now has defensive made because a one man Donald Trump your guy Obama denied them everything because he didn't want to take off it was bombing in Lakewood potent not trump this stuff is maddening so Ukraine wants the money that Obama never gave them trump says essentially what are you going to do for it we're not passing out US dollars anymore **** nilly that's not what I campaigned on that's not what I believe we're only going to give money to legitimate allies were only going to help people who want to help us so trump gets on the phone was a Lynskey and starts demanding that the anti corruption efforts that he ran on are actually going to be implemented it makes perfect sense particularly when he's talking to the president of a company a country which had just years prior tried to undermine his campaign and in order to find out if you claim was now playing straight he sends his body Rooney over there because Rudy is a great crime fighter former US attorney Southern District of New York former mayor of New York cleaned up the crime in New York City for crying out loud well the author of the broken windows policy got rid of the squeegee guys that were harassing everybody coming out of the tunnels Rudy cleaned up crime in that city trump trusted known him a long time sends him over there he trusted more than he trusts the ambassadorial and a bunch of the Obama holdovers they want to impeach him for that and then when all hosts a con you see pretty much admitted that they all did trump went outside channels he used alternative kind of he did not use the interagency group because he couldn't trust that they had tried to undermine his election none of this is hard to understand the context of this makes trumps actions perfectly sensible and brilliantly smart that's why everybody starting to adapt the contextual argument went away because it makes all of this easily understandable and takes away and out of suppose it criminality lawbreaking whatever cloud they wanna cast over trumps behavior here it's the exact opposite he loves America he wants to make sure Americans no longer yours taken advantage of not respecting the exactly what every president on a do not hand out money all over the world for whatever reasons diplomats love handing out money is how they by love and respect from all the people they give it to it's not their money it's the US treasuries monies US taxpayers money they were giving away they want spreading it around thanks to give away money to countries that are not our allies and particularly a country which has attempted to undermine his own campaign without first ascertaining that they've cleaned up their act that's all trump did they ended up getting their money and guess what the president told Lewinsky supposedly a you want to meet with me in the oval office then you got to do this well whatever so when you got is meeting with trump any got his end and there never has been an investigation of the bidens the trump supposedly demanded all of this makes perfect sense and everyone a shift what Mrs came up there and tried to distort everything I just told you into some sort of criminal behavior or incompetent behavior or dangerous risky behavior in all it was was autor over common sense next trump sound bites number number for here well there's no question from just kept talking so here's a here's the next but I watched Joe Biden with the prosecutor who a lot of people said was great prosecutor they took him off and he was prosecuting that company and two kids who never made ten cents in his life and all of a sudden is making millions of dollars I mean you tell me this is a guy who got thrown out of the navy dishonorably gets thrown out of the navy and make no money went through made no money repeat that he's making millions and millions of dollars but there's another reason that is maybe to me the most important why is in Germany France the European Union why are all those countries in Europe why are they paying why is it always the United States to soccer I got elected on that he makes the point again and of course if you go talk to the diplomatic corps well it's the United states' role in the world of fun along but comes exactly right does what he ran on he ran on the fact we're going to get us out of meaningless wars rivers no U. S. national interest vitally at stake we're gonna get out of these situations where we just endlessly sand American money with no reciprocity we're not gonna start paying money to nations that aren't our friends that are not our allies and here he is talking about talking about Rudy we'll have this last night before the break here this one is a great crime fighter Rudy is the best mayor in the history of New York City Rudy Giuliani is a very legendary figure in our country Rudy Giuliani was one of the great crime fighters of all time he's also a friend of mine he's a great person the second iconic figure in this country for two reasons he was the greatest mayor in the history of New York and he was the greatest crime fighter probably in the last fifty years when you're dealing with a corrupt country it Rudy Giuliani's got credentials because of his reputation when Rudy guiliani goes there.

"After saying his goodbyes to Washington's aides. He retired to the upstairs bedroom to see how bad the news was. It was devastating not only had John Andrei been arrested on one of the very last legs of his journey to New York but the secret documents had been discovered. Those papers were on route to Washington once Washington received them him. Arnold's treason would be revealed. Arnold told Peggy what had happened. She crumbled into his arms weeping but she was crying not so much for her husband has for her beloved monarchy as for Arnold. He had to accept up several things in very short order. If he was to escape with his life I there would be no surrender at West Point. He would never verbier the hero of Britain who ended the American Revolutionary War second he needed to escape immediately if he wanted to avoid the gallows which would require piggies help and equally tragically for the greedy man there would be no twenty thousand pound. Reward Arnold Begged Peggy to act as if all was well until general Washington came to Robinson House with the news of Arnold's betrayal when that happened she should delay Washington as much as possible by fainting total shock and horror at her husband's behavior. Peggy agreed agreed without a moment to spare arnold leaped onto his horse in spurred at into a gallop ignoring his pain legs. He wrote down to his personal dock where he threw himself onto his private barge in ordered his boatmen to paddle South Arnold told them to row until they reached the H. M. S. vulture into display a flag of truce when they approached it is cover story was that he had an emergency message for Beverley Robinson to be delivered under a white flag the men road like never before making making a valiant effort to get Arnold to the vulture in time to deliver the message by now back at West Point Washington Shirley early new of arnold treachery would soon be pursued when presumes the irony wasn't lost on Arnold if he just counseled Andre to stay a couple of days rather than leaving from Manhattan on foot could have been rowing together on their way due to the vulture. Andre would still be a free man the invasion would still be on and Benedict Arnold would be about to get his blood money but that wasn't the case after what seemed like forever. Benedict Arnold's barge pulled up alongside ride the HMS Vulture after boarding he demanded that Robinson pull up the anchor and immediately sale for New York City as they sailed towards Manhattan Arnold had time to ponder the consequences of his failure. His handler was under arrest and likely to be executed. His family was in mortal. Danger is only hope remaining alive himself was because the British she had already accepted his defection. It was a matter of strict British policy never to turn over a deserter to his former army the deck of the HMS Filter Benedict Arnold began to formulate a public relations strategy. If he couldn't save his plan or his riches at least perhaps he could save his family and his reputation he could tell the world that he wasn't a simple turn coat that he had only wanted to end the war he wrote a letter to George Washington insisting that Peggy was innocent cintas any wrongdoing and should be conducted safely back to her family and Philadelphia. This was perhaps the only selfless act of Arnold's owns life after absolving peggy to Washington. He feared that he would never see her or their seven month old son Edward again they would grow up in the house. Peggy's father who hated Benedict Arnold at least they would be alive and safe as Arnold wrote those words Peggy was covering his escape with a prize winning fit of apparent psychosis at one point according to valiant ambition. She pretended to hallucinate that there was a hot iron on our head and only George Washington could remove it when Washington tried to do you just that she accused him of being an impostor bent on murdering Edward although it's impossible to know if peggy actually was hallucinating. It's most likely she was an exceptional actress doing just what she promised her husband distracting the general for as long as possible after the vulture arrived in New York City Benedict received an officer's commission in the British Army though the plan to turn turnover west point was ultimately unsuccessful. General Henry Clinton was convinced enough of Arnold's efforts to reward him with six thousand British pounds but he wouldn't be retiring rich as he had planned Clinton Expected Arnold a fight with all his might for the British army and truly earn his officer's commission meanwhile John Andrei spent the following weeks in prison and become a celebrity his own guards found him charming and his valet became so attached to him that he wept upon learning that Andrei would soon be hanged on October second seventeen eighty eighty Andrei was executed. He faced his death bravely. According to observers five days later on October seventh seventeen nineteen eighty benedict arnold published an open letter in the British loyalist paper the Royal Gazette titled Letter to the inhabitants of America the attempts to recast his treason as a patriotic selfless act on old wrote in part I affect no disguise and therefore frankly declare that I had determined to retain my arms and command for an opportunity to surrender them to Great Britain. I I was only solicitous to accomplish in event of decisive importance an to prevent as much as possible in the execution of it the fusion Uson of blood in December seventeen eighty benedict arnold led an invading force of sixteen hundred men into Virginia. His men not only killed and captured his former comrades. They made a point of destroying grain mills in supply houses leaving the local people to starve just a few months after formally changing sides arnold was reunited with Peggy rather rather than live out her life in Philadelphia continuing to Feign Innocence Peggy insisted on joining her husband in New York City soon after she became. I'm pregnant with their second child. In seventeen eighty one after the British army surrendered in Yorktown Virginia Benedict Arnold was not captured or punished for his treason instead his family sailed to England to start a new life he returned to the occupation of his youth becoming once again a seafaring merchant between seventeen eighty one and seventeen ninety four the arnold's welcomed five more children for a total of seven two died in infancy leaving the couple with four sons and one daughter eventually the Arnold's move to Canada. They are the aging Benedict Arnold focused on trading with the West indies. His business thrived but his many war injuries were worsening as aged by his late fifties. He was in very poor health and receiving frequent visits from the family doctor in June of eighteen o one the a sixty year old took a turn for the worse entering a state of delirium from which he never returned on June fourteen eighteen o one he died at home had benedict arnold been more successful spy he might well have succeeded in ending the revolutionary war with a victory for Britain. Feigning incompetence was his primary means of sabotaging west point in a fitting twist of fate eat. It was his actual incompetence that ruined his plans though he didn't manage to collect his twenty thousand pounds nor and the war Benedict Arnold's fate was better than he deserved. He died at an advanced age in his own bed surrounded by his family. Meanwhile meanwhile loyal Americans were killed by the thousands defending their fledgling country his treason and the obvious injustice of his safe escape made Arnold one of the most hated men in America even now more than two hundred years later. His name remains a synonym for trader today. Benedict Arnold Treasonous legacy is perhaps best summed up in the words of Benjamin Franklin who wrote Judas sold only one man but benedict arnold so three million..

"Now back to the story on August twenty four th seventeen eighty thirty nine year turncoat Benedict Arnold received the long awaited letter from his British Handler Adjutant General John Andrei it had been nearly a month on the since their last correspondents in Arnold was beginning to worry that the plan was off despite the fact that he'd already gained command of West Point and begun to sabotage the fort. If the plan fell through Arnold was sure he'd eventually be found out and killed unless the British won the war some other way I after decoding the missive he learned that British General Henry Clinton had reacted with enthusiasm Husiac to Arnold's proposal and even agreed to a twenty thousand pound bounty for the surrender of West Point. He requested only Arnold Guarantee. The capture of three thousand soldiers during the invasion arnold was happy to stop dispersing the fort soldiers to other posts. It was less work for him and less suspicious to keep them at the base. Now with all parties agreed on terms. It was time to talk specifics planning the British invasion was far too sensitive to be done in letters arnold would have to see the John Andrei in person and not that Arnold especially wanted to see his counterpart. Andrei was young handsome air dight charming. Everyone met Arnold was an acquired taste. Even for his closest friends Benedict Arnold was still still bitter about being passed over for promotion to Major General at age thirty five John Andrei had risen to the rank of adjutant general at age thirty not not to mention the danger meeting at an American fort would put them both in if anyone recognized Andrei as a high ranking British British officer and saw him speaking to Arnold they might both be arrested on the spot nevertheless arnold bit the bullet and on August thirtieth seventeen eighty ask Connecticut Assemblyman William Herron to deliver a coded letter to the British on the pretense announced that it was a business matter he needed to communicate to a British merchant herron was suspicious and instead of delivering a letter he brought it back to Connecticut where he handed it over to one general Parsons Parsons who is now in Arnold old old role as head of the Connecticut militia simply ignored it although he recognized that it was written in code he assumed that Arnold was was in a secret business deal parsons new Benedict Arnold as a war hero and considered the idea that he might be disloyal ridiculous. LS Parsons wrote here off as Paranoid Benedict Arnold never even knew about this narrow escape four days later on September Third Arnold got another opportunity to send a letter to the British Mrs McCarthy. The wife of a prisoner of war was traveling south and agreed to take a letter into the city this second message found and it's recipient. John Andre opened the letter to find a carefully crafted insult from Benedict Arnold camouflaged as a strategic plan. Dan Arnold suggested that Andre traveled to west point in disguise as a spy named John Anderson Arnold it had even gone so far as to notify soldiers at nearby outposts that they should expect an informant named John Anderson and that he he was to be conveyed to the commander but John Andrei wasn't a man who could be easily disguised. He was known and despised despised for his cruelty on the battlefield. According to valiant ambition Andrei once ordered his soldiers to run down a fleeing defenseless defenseless group of American soldiers with their bayonets. Few survivors would remember John Andreas face forever. Andres ferocity in battle made him a favorite of General Clinton a brutal man himself. Clinton refused even consider Arnold Arnold's risky suggestion that John Andrei travel in disguise instead Clinton proposed that on dray where his own uniform and carry a white flag according to military convention an enemy soldier waving a flag of truce must not be fired upon on that's been the case since at least the second punic war which ended in two zero one. BC few military traditions are as is universal and far reaching even today. The use of a white flag is protected by the Geneva Convention traveling under a White Flag John Andrei would be safe that meant coming up with a cover story that would allow Arnold aboard a British ship displaying being a white flag without arousing suspicion enter Beverley Robinson Build Arnold's west point home and already one the few British officers trusted by Henry Clinton with a secret plan to take West Point Robinson could ask for a meeting with American General Arnold regarding the status of his property on the Hudson. John dray would accompany him. It may seem a little bit strange for an enemy combatant to request an update on his property while it's occupied by an opposing general but among those who'd grown up in the colonies both British loyalists and continental soldiers hope that the war would soon end and when it did presumably gentlemen like Robinson would have their the property restored to them. Clinton and Andrei can post a carefully worded letter Arnold politely declining his suggestion that Andrei disguise himself as John Anderson instead at noon on Monday September eleventh the they instructed him to meet Robinson at Dobbs Ferry on the east bank of the Hudson. This landing was in the neutral ground and would be a safe safe place for all parties to speak Arnold was reluctant to accept this change this meant he would have to cross the river which which was a dangerous task in itself from Man. Without healthy legs ended men's sparking suspicion in one of his boatmen if he wanted his twenty thousand pound reward. What choice did he have so on September eleventh seventeen eighty thirty nine your old benedict arnold boarded his barge and set off for Dobbs ferry this required sneaking out of the house without alerting varick but arnold managed to depart while his aide was occupied. He was eager to discuss the surrender especially because it would give him another another chance to confirm how much money he was to receive and win but almost as soon as he left the dock. Arnold old was forced to turn back British gunboats were patrolling the Hudson River as was often the case generally they just exchanged fire with American vessels off the shore of the neutral ground but upon seeing the American general alone on his personal barge they turn their guns on him nearly blowing arnold out of the water arnold swiftly returned to the American controlled West shore with his heart heart pounding in his chest. It was the closest he'd come to death on the water. Since the battle of Valco island in October of seventeen seventy six there was no way he could make his rendezvous with Andrei now and no way to send the British a message Benedict Arnold Arnold spent the rest of the day with his boat pacing up and down the West Shore. He hoped that the British officers would realize he couldn't cross and sail over over to the American controlled side of the river to meet him when darkness fell without any apparent attempt at crossing by Andrei Arnold grew the angry and scornful. He vowed that he would never again be the one to put himself in mortal danger just for a meeting he was already taking the greater risk by betraying his country but unbeknownst Arnold General Clinton had recognized the different strategy would have to be employed for a meeting on September Fourteenth Clinton revealed the West Point Plan to British Admiral George Rodney Name and enlisted the help of his fleet. It was it calculated risk. Double agents were everywhere but the time for swift action was at hand and Clinton believed he could trust Rodney Clinton sent Andrei and Robinson out to meet Arnold together again but this time aboard the H M s vulture one of Rodney's sixteen gun sloops as it happened September September fourteenth seventeen eighty was also the date of Benedict Arnold reunion with his wife and infant son Edward Hagey had traveled live from Philadelphia and was eager to see your husband after so many weeks of separation rather than wait to meet at Robinson House. The couple met at the home. Tom Joshua Heads Smith the naive attorney to whom Benedict Arnold was introduced by Robert. How the thirty one year olds home overlooked hammer straw straw bay located on the Hudson River about sixteen miles south of west point despite the peculiar features of their relationship their their age difference Peggy's political agenda and their looming debt peggy and Benedict Arnold were an affectionate couple especially with their first child child now smiling and babbling on Peggy's lap. It was a rare moment of domestic bliss for the Arnold's Peggy.

September twenty second seventeen eighty thirty year old British adjutant general. Oh John Andrei buttoned up a dusty old coat and pulled a moth eaten beavers for hat over his eyes. The journey home was more than fifty miles from West Point to Manhattan. He'd have to pass countless continental military checkpoints while carrying American state secrets in his stockings. If the high ranking officer was captured while out of uniform he could be mistaken for an ordinary spy and likely executed on the spot. He was taking a risk by going in disguise. Just two days earlier ondre believed he was about to win the revolutionary illusionary war for Britain now he was just praying to survive thirty nine year old American Governor General Benedict Arnold entered the room walking with a severe limp is haughty eyes roamed up and down Andres disguised figure Arnold spoke not a word of appreciation about the risk. Andrei was taking by traveling out of uniform. His mind was on the twenty thousand impound purse. He was due to receive from the British. Should the impending invasion of West Point succeed Arnold handed Andrei a stack of handwritten passes with the alias John Anderson Passes would allow him to cross the American lines with that Arnold abandoned his British counterpart to finish their mission without him. Benedict Arnold was confident that in no time at all his his name would be written in the books as a hero he was wrong..

"Join is probably best known to Americans the spy or the right coach the British coat who turned a Benedict Arnold. And. What was his early life? Like what what do we know about him as a younger, man? Yeah. It's interesting question. That is always a number of fire all John on bay because the connection done in policy, primarily by Americans and typically the first fifty pages devoted to early life. And then the authors put Joan on the boat to America pretty rapidly in the book, I decided to approach from different points of view because I want you to understand why Joan went to America firstly. And Secondly, why he did what he did lost in America. So I think more time researching Jones early luck looking for the crucial question why? And I found new such and you says which explained that why Mary he's family was Hugo family. He was the first generation, but he's found his task. France and. They came to break. Jeez. Like most refugees to make them all and then you country that they would. And as a family would say much trade is in cross silks and and find a fine and they start to to make living a basic sesame in Britain money. This is in the seventeen fifties and sixties and with that money, they decided to play the essentially English stock market, and they invested in the company cold, wait for the East, India company and Americans will know the East India company, of course, it was the source of all t that was being dumped on America at the time. And he basically it was like a South Sea bubble and Easter is this book rose very rapidly. Indeed, everyone was jumping on the bandwagon. And the family Meghan put a lot of money in some borrowed and seven point you can touch them to sixty eight the shares nosedived. And overnight company. The family was almost wiped out the dot quite and the follow that mysteriously suddenly died either of a heart attack. Or I hint at the post to be suicide leaving the family with John the eldest son three younger sisters as head of the family overnight. He's family saunas the name dishonors, and he had to look around for way of covering the family, not just wealth, but good name. And for him. The decision was to go into the army our guest. Doug. Ronald he is in England and the book of the life of John Andrei, explain Andres role is head of the British army secret service in North America as the revolutionary war entered its most bitter, and ultimately decisive phase. Exactly see so Joan what way up through the ranks is normal red coat office. But because they tell us he was promoting federal rapidly because he was a linguist and had learned his skills in Bush fighting what they call put your dad, which was basically citing he was rapidly promotes you to to actively the position of adjutant general to the senior commodity office, Henry Clinton and in that role. He took on the task of most of mine. Inspire perations in in North America. And he had come across ago. Cool Peggy Shippen lost. He was in Philadelphia. Joined the real patient of citadel in seventeen seventy seven eight, and she was a quake very much loyalist. And they cut the deal the two of them. It may be in a relationship. They cut the deal that they were gonna turn an American office up and Peggy set about defector targeting, but he who came in his coming down to all the Delfi, and she turned him working closely with Joan who's now in New York, the headquarters offices, oh is this for because it pretty Jami and they work together repaired by eighteen months to seduce two ton. Ben McDonald, oversee Jones doing other things, but that was his primary role was to be convinced on to make the jump. What was the relationship like between Andre? Arnold and Peggy Shippen. Pat as a fantastic question. Because actually that goes to the nub of the problem. John's very good looking right personable, and he'd been working very closely with the Phillips L bells with with an offense. I sort of what they call the Mexicans which was jamboree event by doing the occupy patients that Adelphia and John left with a reputation for being very postal. And very good looking. Well bonds auto to is twice his age twice Peggy's each was wounded positive sell by date. Oh invited..
