"Basically music was my first language. And I studied for ten years. And then I discovered rock music and that it was a game changer and the louder the better. It just sort of spiritually just reached inside and grabbed me more than any other kind of music, although I still love classical. And then I just, you know, it's funny. I wanted to be in a band. I wanted to be a rockstar, but not because, you know, I wanted fame and wealth as much as I just loved music. And I thought it would be so cool if I could just make a living doing what I love to do. I mean, to me, that's the secret in life is making money. Good money. Doing what you're passionate about instead of just sort of surviving through the day, which unfortunately a lot of people have to do. I was just very fortunate. I think the timing was right. I think my style of music was right at that time. And I don't know. I think some of it's luck. I think some of it's tenacity. I was very, very relentless about wanting to make it. And then the switch to songwriting. I hadn't even thought about being a songwriter until certain things happen, which are in the book. It's kind of a long story to tell you right now in the radio. But get the book and read it. And it's all in there. Oh, I've just ordered the book. I'm going to probably read the whole thing this weekend. You mentioned timing. How did MTV kind of change everything? MTV was the best thing that could have happened to me because it was a foreign where I could get not one, but sometimes they were like 5 videos at the same time going. It's like you had hearts never and you had the warrior and you had love is a battlefield with pat benatar and you had obsession with an emotion and John Wayne's change and they were one after the other and then they decided to start doing news blurbs on me like every half hour. And that was another Holly knight song or something like that and I couldn't understand it because I didn't have a PR agent somehow they found out that I was the common denominator. It just sort of happened organically. To the point where I ended up I think it was the

"So it goes on to speak about the academics and philosophers. The celebrated anti natalist get the term anti natalist against birth. The celebrated celebrated note that anti natalist philosopher David benatar, wife quoted in the past, argues that the disappearance of humanity would not deprive the universe of anything unique or valuable. Do you understand that this is the inevitable result of secular thinking? My life has been devoted. I've said this all of my career. It's one overwhelming message. The consequences of secularism.

"My best of the weekend was the NLS cup just an a plus game. It couldn't have been more entertaining sale with a header to take it to extras. The worst of the weekend was NHL, Hall of Famer, longtime color man for the Colorado avalanche, Peter McNabb passed away big legend here in Colorado. Many might remember him for running into the stands after a game, but he was so kind, such a Colorado legend. And so Carter sports is grieving today with his passing. I think thank you, Tyler. Did they announce or did they have The Rock and roll ceremony? Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony this weekend? I saw a quote from Eminem, and then he performed with Steven Tyler. Yeah, was that Saturday night? Saturday night? Yep. Okay. So Eminem, Dolly. Dolly Parton was totally there? I think she was there, yeah. Okay. I don't think it was live. It may have been taped for HBO. I think they tape it and then play it back. I got Duran Duran, pat benatar, Eminem, eurythmics, both of them, Dolly Parton, both of them. Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, Judas Priest. Jimmy jam, Terry Lewis. Harry Belafonte? Is that correct? All right, Harry. Get in there. It's rock and roll. Okay. Daylight come and. Todd are you familiar with that song? Vaguely. You're not familiar with it. Come mister something. Anybody who's seen beetlejuice knows that song. He like comment, we want to go home. Thank you, too. "I think the way that we're wired, what we're used to for most of us, the way that we love can be unhealthy because of our stories and we can fall into those patterns and that's what love can be a series of unhealthy patterns until you realize that it's you and there are things that you need to work on. I mean, of course it could also be your partner, but when you realize that it's you and that you want to take ownership, then that is love, right? Love is unpredictable. Love is understanding one of the things that the Vanessa and I talk about in our book, one of my favorite things is understanding someone before trying to be understood. Trying to understand before trying to be understood. And I think love is all about that. And when you have two people trying to understand before trying to be understood, it makes it safe. The soil is not rich for growth. When you have people trying to, when you have people trying to be understood, wait, did I say, oh my, I'm confusing myself. When you have people trying to be understood instead of trying to understand, my shit's like tongue twisters. And I see them so much I forget. Okay, let's start over real quick. Love is to understand. So if you try to understand before trying to be understood, that is love. Most people try to be understood before trying to understand, right? So love is to try to understand before trying to be understood. Love is undeniable. We collide with people and we know it's meant it doesn't mean that it's easy, but it's undeniable why we meant why we were meant to collide and we know that because something greater is happening. And that could be children that could be building something. It could be anything that is greater than self. It could be two people helping other people, but the collision of you meeting this person and both people taking away growth, wisdom, it being a catalyst to their own evolution, all that, although it's helping the self is also greater than self. So love is undeniable. Love is peeling layers. Love is about peeling layers. And I say this because people think that love when you feel that connection and that that is love and that is not love. Love is exploring, love is peeling layers of a person of yourself doing life with someone and as you do life with someone learning more about your partner as well as yourself. So constantly peeling layers. Love is in your heart and body and not head. I said that love is not a bad love is. In your head, it was a pat benatar that said love is about a field, yes. I disagree with pat benatar. Liv is not a battlefield. It's the cognitive distortions in our head, that's the battlefield, right? So love is in our heart and bodies. Because our bodies don't lie. Now, even though our bodies don't lie, they are white or a certain way because of traumas, right? But love is not in our head. Love is personal responsibility and by that I mean individuals taking ownership. If there's no ownership, there really is no love. Question for you. What if you could use science to learn more about your body? And I don't mean like science in the distance.

"Came up. So it was pretty cool. So I'm going to jump on with Dave Phillips, that day, by the way, I called Dave Phillips the king of the 45s. He knows his music stuff too. He's a good music guy. But he evidently has a fucking giant collection of 45s, which I love. I think that's great. If he doesn't, then I'm making it up. I don't know. I just like calling him the king of the 45s. You gotta love those singles. Yeah, absolutely. But he's a music guy. He knows his stuff. I have a number of album covers on my list. And I'm just gonna be very general with this one. Any herp Albert. Herb Alpert fucking album cover. Especially the whipped cream one. Like he said, yeah. Any Herb Alpert covered is fucking great. I do listen to her belt. They were great. Just a new album. He just released a new album like a couple months ago. Carly Simon is. I want her to Carly Simon. She goes, I voted her out, actually. Can we do that? Remember, because America is not in The Rock and Hall of Fame, but Carly Simon. I was thinking that the other day. That's an interesting point. It's wrong, man. Yeah. I was thinking that the other day. But they're doing this inclusive shit, and they're forcing it to force feeding it. And pat benatar does not belong in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before a number of bands. And I still think the fucking Green Day doesn't belong in the period. My son, that's funny, my summer. We're driving. We just got home. A podcast. And the time you're left comes out, my son Luke goes. I don't like Green Day. I like your son already. I like him already. He's going to make me sad. He goes, I don't want to feel sad. I don't like this man. It's just the fucking 90s version of the Ramones. It's all they were. Can we tell Dave Phillips that Jay Giles doesn't belong? He'll fucking. I'm sorry. David, if you know the phone number, Dave, you know they're not. I have the phone on. If you want to say something to Lou that about Jay Giles and him not thinking they see, I've never said that, look. I don't say those things. I know they're hometown boys. I try to keep the fans watching. Dave's a big fan. Do you love fucking Jake aisles? They wrote their own material, yeah. I mean, they had an impact. They record. They toured their well-known. Centerfold was huge. I mean, if you want to go commercial, but they wrote them until like pat benatar and Neil gerardo. They didn't really write many of those hits of anything. I think there are other guitar player wrote some stuff that they didn't, but I agree. I mean, I think there were good bands. I really like that drummer, but and he's a great guitar player, but I kind of agree. Yeah. Busta got lost. He's a great thing. Because it's got the first half of the song and it goes into this really great jam. That's wonderful. Songs of theirs. Yeah, they're great. They should be in. And don't tell Dave that lose from New Jersey, because that'll really get nasty, all right? Oh, really? And don't forget the song wham a Gemma with magic dick on the mic on the harmonica. Yeah. That was in the 70s. You could have a fucking harmonica player. With the name of magic dick of course. Today. The second time. That's the second time dick is coming up. I just want him to bring that up..

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason. Being a fan is a funny thing, because it's tough being a fan, depending on how big of a fan you are, does that make sense? The more you are a fan, the more emotional you get with things. Wednesday was a weird day for me. It was the day of the announcement for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2022. And the NASCAR Hall of Fame for 2023. And of course, I'm a big fan of both rock and roll and NASCAR. And while, well, you don't look at the people who got in and say, well, I don't want them or they shouldn't get in or maybe you do. You're more upset about the people you wanted to get in that didn't. The Rock hall, I pretty much given up on that as of many people, because it's really just a popularity contest. The band I wanted in most, the band I believe to be in most. Of course, I'm a big fan of. That's Devo, the hometown boys from just outside of Cleveland. And guess what? They didn't get in. I don't even think they got close. Now I got no qualms with pat benatar with even Eminem for that matter. Same thing with NASCAR. Don't mind who got in. Don't mind Matt Kenseth. Don't mind Kirk shelmerdine, but wish Harry Hyde had gotten in. I know it's a silly thing, but it's those things that prove we're a fan.

"Mike always great to see you. Thanks so much. Thank you for having me. Mike Wilson, Morgan Stanley. Brian, so ship coin might save Christmas at this point. Personal wealth is going to help the consumer out. Yeah, I mean, listen I actually think there's something to that. And we know that Robin Hood has been knocking the cover off the ball. We know that when we talk about WallStreetBets, that is kind of our quote unquote retail trader. Now, I know they might get upset at me for saying that. But the point is, I do think there are plenty of people out there that have made money in crypto that have made money in stocks that are living off of that right now. And if I had to think about what is going to be that smoking gun that you asked about, it is probably that the consumer spending declines right after Christmas. That's what you see. Everybody spends there's going to be a big Christmas and then it just goes into that ice period that Mike's talking about. Yeah, I think what was interesting about Mike's commentary Tim is that he was talking about this ice period, but we've got enough of sort of all of the ingredients needed for a rally into year end, and institutional money wants to stay pretty much invested to you. You're in any way. So the show can keep going. Yeah. And look, who didn't read that note and think about the great pat benatar song, fire and ice, where you come on like a flame and you turn a cold shoulder. I didn't. And that's the case. Where are we going with? I think you're going to go home tonight and listen to that song. But the cold shoulder is going to be turned by the fed or really the valuations because what Mike didn't get a chance to get into is really just the mechanical element of where higher rates are going to bring down the valuation of the market. And that's not something anyone's going to do until next year. So look I would not be betting that the fed is going to step in here. Would I be betting that markets are starting to move yield curves around the world? There's no bet. That's happening. But the dynamic right now for liquidity is still way too strong. And I'll tell you, we're gonna look back on Christmas 2021. And that may have been the greatest era for the consumer coming out with higher wages with a lot of gains and asset prices and a world that really just doesn't care. And is looking to kind of exhaust that last bit of spending. But I think it's going to be a difficult year as we get into next year. And I would not challenge the market to push back too hard right now. All right. Coming.

"Songs they wrote songs. Neil rowe and nothing really comes as far as a big hit but it continues the run of making quality music quality rock and roll and the fans are still there supporting them. And that's the thing that i think. At this point they proven to everybody. You've got this sucker. Going people are coming to hear what you're putting out. If they hear anything like they come in droves. So that's what puts the pressure on the artist and i think it's what are the deals with. I wish that we could have them on. Because they're such nice people they would probably tell you exactly how felt and how it feels there that couple. They're those kind of people in. I haven't talked to him in a long time. But i'll tell you what i still have. Great regard for them admiring. Grumbach is still playing drums. With when i worked with them back. Then that's really cool. That one of the old school drummers you know was able to continue to be able to play with them. But i agree with you. I think it would be really fun to talk to patent neil and talk especially about those first few albums and how they really made an impact and the challenges that they have a especially singing about topics that make people squirm in their seats. And i wonder if the record executives squirmed when they spoke with neil and pat about all of this stuff. I would love to know that type of stuff. Because i think it would enhance the story in really unfortunately one of my friends who could give us an answer about some of that stuff died of cove it in the middle of the and keeps happening even now all right my friend well. I'll tell you what i've had fun. Talk about pat benetton him and it made me realize that. There's so much to talk about chrysalis records because you gotta realize they have they blondie right and so they had to really powerful women in the seventies and eighties. There were part of the business backbone of the company. I mean yes. They build it off of jethro tull's massive success in other stuff too. But you know what i'm saying. I think it's really neat neat. Phase rock and roll that we should probably dig closer to the bone so to speak absolutely. These women definitely deserve the credit because they have not gotten the credit that they deserve holy. Who was in that period man. They did something. There debt was me because it's punk they kind of figure. Well this is what we do. But i don't think it's been given enough credit. I agree with you on that. Benetton's last studio record release was in two thousand. Three cried go. Yes and since then they've been continuing to play live. I'm sure they've slowed down a bit as they've gotten older life on the road takes its toll on you but they've remained true to themselves through their entire career and through their entire lives. And you can tell you can feel and you can hear it in all their music. And another reason. I'd love to have him on is because i'd love to get her perspective as the singer on how she made all those interpretations happen in her own voice in her own way and made them into hits as pat. Benetton be kinda cool. You never know what you're doing. This podcast I don't have any plans to stop you. you hesitating. What's the word. Stop is what. I was trying to figure out confused. I will stop this thing stop. I'm sorry you confused me. We wanna stop for now. Let's get you anywhere confused. It's always good to talk about great rock and roll and we've been actually talking about doing this talking about patent spider for quite some time so we made sure it fits into the schedule here. Is we started another month and coming up on two years since we joined the pantheon network that So much has been happening buddy. I know we don't talk that much about it on facebook or or social media or on the podcast but the growth especially in the last six months we've seen the growth the increased numbers of downloads. And thank you for listening when you download. That's really amazing what we're seeing there and all the different places the growing number of listeners. Both here in the us and all over the world kind of blowing us away man. We talked about sunday's our text back and forth or like. Whoa wow oh my god and you guys blow us away every day so we thank you for that and thank you for all the feedback. Some of it helps us to grow as a podcast when it's not exactly what we want to hear but generally speaking. We love the feedback. You guys are sending us down. Forget you can email us imbalance history. Gmail.com hit us up on the socials on facebook. You can find us at the imbalance history of rock and roll. We're on twitter. Imbalanced history and of course on instagram. The imbalance history of rock and roll and one final thing rock and roll hall of fame pat. Ben atar is a game changer. She should be in. I think about our parameters for entry and he may not have changed the whole game but she changed things from the way they were to the way they are in a lot of ways and i agree with that and she's on a list of people that's pretty damn long that have belonged in the rock and roll hall of fame for quite some time and have not been given entry really too good of a mood right now to spoil it by talking about them fuckers as you know what i. I can't argue with but recognize bitches recognize. They are great and we both recommend you put on some pat benetton and celebrate her incredible. I am not wearing the lycra leotard. I'm not. I don't care how much you asked me to. I'm not putting on the pat benetton makeup and hair. Sorry dude come on dude through that eighty shit. I told you know you didn't. It's the box in the closet. I know that recess tupperware at the bottom of the steps. I view time the right. Your kids are gonna pull it out this halloween. I gotta be careful. That'd be fun to see. Oh yeah. I'd want video of that. That would be hysterical to see eric and epaulettes. You know what i mean. I saw and on that note. Let's wrap it up for this episode with pat neal and everything that's attached that they've got a lot of great friends. They've made and worked within their time. Rock and roll. And we'll see you soon. We've got a lot of things to talk about. We never run out of shit to talk about doing now. This is an unending subject matter. Diarrhea openly verbal diarrhea full on every episode. Leads rabbit a break curb peer. It's marcus goldman as well. And this.

"It and it was written by eric. Lowen and dan navarro. I'm not even sure if i know who. Those guys are couple ellie songwriters and boy. They probably have a pretty nice houses in la from that or wherever they decided it was a big hit and it continues to get played on the classic rock stations and networks and so for the writers especially the cash continues to flow. And that's part of what's helped a lot of artists. I think through the pandemic time was the cash flow from airplay and things like that because they weren't able to leave a house or a lot of cases even record write another two year and it seven the hard way coming in october of eighty five produced by neil joe ciccarelli and mike chapman their old friend. Who's back in the mix and he nikki chan. They're quite a pair. They wrote songs. They'd help you finish your songs producing all there. They were like full service so she brought all the hands on deck for this one and they come up with is a weapon which is an activist song. That is bro female. Even though it's kinda telling girls the stop using sexism weapon to be more love. It's pretty pointed at the time if you think about when this came out in eighty five we're in the middle of the eighties hairband thing. We're in the middle of the eighties. Pop thing it was pretty much create so it was in the middle of the eighties. Everybody fucking everything moves thing and it was her way of putting it on the radio and it was written by tom. Kelly and billy steinberg. I'm not sure. I know who those guys are. But oh wait a minute. Billy steinberg like a virgin. Yes co-wrote like a virgin and true colors well and that too. Yeah i see that. And tom kelly. It's not our tom. Kelly say nyberg. Kelly wrote a bunch of songs big songwriter. But this is what happens. You get the big guns in there and you pull out all stops and you get it done and you have another successful album. It goes the number twenty six on the us charts lung. Gotta keep the momentum going. That's the thing that's most important when you're at this point in a career. We talked about this a bit on the beach boys episode. We talked about the international flight on the doors episode. And it's really the point where they are. Where the album's aren't selling their selling half a million copies. Nobody is really complaining. I don't think everybody's doing okay but it's not double platinum results. But they keep making great albums and creating one of the really great rock and roll catalogs of eighty eighties into the early nineties. Absolutely and then the one thing that even though the album sales suffered their live show did not suffer and people are still continued to support them in droves because they were so good live and boy talk about being part of a crowd singing emotional songs with the band. Holy cow y- goosebumps thinking about it. That good well. Wide awake in dreamland does get them a hit. Remember the song all fired up yes. It's not like the biggest song they ever had. But i thought it was cool. And then i looked into it and it turns out song was written by carrying tolhurst. Who small straight. He was in a band called the dingoes. Remember that i do not remember the dingoes. I'm all but you know they did a sonko. Let's stay together. That wasn't an green cover. You know they did some of their own material. That was really nice stuff but it didn't connect in a big way wide way off fired up. Did it got up to the top of the rock charts. And that's really good when you're Karen tolhurst horst and you hear collecting the check every three months. But that's where they are at that point and then you have nineteen ninety-one true love Which is produced by. Neil and these two have proven in this album is kind of a tribute to that proven at.

"Now that we are back from our crooked eye breaks. I went to jamie's house of music and lands down to grab my growlers. You went to crooked eye brewery right in the heart of hat borough. We've got so fast. Mr. they're also poring at the rich borough. Poll i slipped by for a cold. One there another place you know. They're allowed to go import events. So you just never know where crooked. I will turn up but yeah man. I'm happy bro. it's the place to be man. There's so much going on but the music that's happening at jamie's house music. You just have a much more enjoyable experience there now because you can go in and have a beer or a mixed drink some wine. All jamie's music right there on the main drag right down the street from the theater there in lansdowne and it's easy to get to from the magic bag studios. Oh you're just so happy about this. I love it in the middle. It talking about that benetton and her little spider neil giraldo and they have made quite a life for themselves. They become almost like a cottage industry unto themselves like so many classic rockers. Have if you think about it. While her career did start in the seventies she was really an artist and she's one of the artists early on who recognized that they had the ability to continue to make records and tour at whatever level. They could achieve and develop as they went forward. They're one of the teams that figured out. How record stop sailing as well as they did. At the beginning of your career how you escalate the live. Show vibe and create that. They're one of the first eighty spans. Who reinvented themselves. And they done it a couple of times now and you gotta look at it that way. Because they're a band they've got other guys who play with them live here and there but there are a band and that's why they continue to make records now. It's been a while but after get nervous. They make tropico two year break in albums. The first time they had taken that long break. I know they did a live album in between called live from earth in one thousand nine hundred eighty three. But i'm sure they could use that break after those first. Four years of heavy recording and touring. That cycle is tough. Also because around. That time you'll draw was getting involved in producing john weight and starting to do more on producing on pets records too so they were kinda do it a little bit more work at home for other people you know. At some point you recognize the best way to go. Forward is to diversify and become more of a producer for yourself and all the other aspects of it when you produce your own records. You keep the producer points in house whether it's the band or the duo like they have or whatever so it really does solidly thanks. Now you've gotta make great records. Otherwise no he's gonna care who the producer is. And you can keep your points.

"Not only put it on the front page. She hit you with the issue and made sure that you knew what she was singing about and she let it all out. Those songs moved talk about it on the young and the restless. I can't remember. I gotta be honest with you. I can't remember because that was probably in the nine. Like i've seen her in the twenty s like in the last twenty years but they did more appearances back in the days and i don't remember what they talked about kosovo's stories. I'll just run together but hell is for. Children wasn't even released as a single and i'm guessing some. Aor rock radio people were like this is a damn good song. I'm gonna fuck and put it on. And they did. It's just up and down great. I remember seeing her videos. And just listening to those songs and listening to them very closely when they came on because she pulled you in and the way that ban just really moved yet and i think at that age it made a positive impression in so many ways she was part of a wave of women in rock and roll started to change. The tide heart had made great inroads other women at a great inroads but pat ben atar in some of the other women of the eighties. Just basically set. We're here and this is what we do. Were rock checks for want of a better term. And we're good with that so take me seriously and treat me right damn it. That's what i did there but in by but these obser- all selling great. I mean your time at number one on billboard for precious time the next album selling two times platinum and canada and double platinum in the us gold and france and new zealand. You're talking about albums that are starting to sell international territories kind of radio coverage that we had here and it was selling great here. The states promises in the dark just like me which turns out i did not know was paul revere. And the raiders cover. I mean this is the kind of stuff. Are you seeing. What i'm seeing here. And that is that she is the kind of person that kind of singer that can change and turn anybody else's songs into things that are hers. And i don't mean give it to me. It's mine i mean she creates it in a way that makes it hers. Even the songs that she didn't right and a perfect similar example of that as jimi hendrix taking bob. Dylan's all along the watchtower. She was able to do that with her songs and make them her own. Especially the melon cap. Yeah yeah and her version. Helter skelter is a pretty good cover to put on your list. Beatles covers to check out some time so that's all on the precious time album which does pretty well comes out and keeps her rock and into nineteen eighty one again just about a year after so. She's got three albums and three summers. And that's perfect. Timing for touring and those guys are known to tour all over wherever the touring winds will blow them. And i think somewhere in their travels they spent time in hawaii neil impacted and they fell in love with hana but they had a house there and way with when they would finish tours. Wanna get away. They wouldn't go back to la or anywhere else they would just take the plane. Go to hana and spend some time decompressing there. It's one of those special places for them. And i don't know if they still have the house there. I heard someone told me that they had sold that. And we're on to other things. Maybe they're doing what so many people do. And that is downsizing as we go. Well she's going to be seventy. You know my favorite cover. Though of all her album covers. Marcus is the get nervous cover. That's the one. Where she's the straitjacket and the hairs hall like. It looks like she's had a electrodes. Therapy right yeah. Oh my god yes. We're going to get nervous. Because we don't know what's gonna. This is neil taken over controls. With peter coleman helping as the producer he'd been involved in producing in the last couple of albums and You know they're band changes up guys. Come and go long before. He joined the secret sessions band. With springsteen charlie giordano joins on keyboards for the next adventure. Get nervous with pat neal her spider and it does well it like she keeps having hits on every record. Not everyone's out of the park home run but she so platinum and double plied on every album and that's allowing them to tour and make all kinds of good money and create the life they want for them in their girls to win win win for everybody and she continued to sing about issues. That people are very uncomfortable to talk about. She didn't change who she was for the record companies or anything. They continued to sing and talk about the issues. They thought were important. And they made it very clear but their music state consistent and good and she was fantastic live. They've always been really good. Live per voice is powerful. I mean powerful but don't get nervous. Marcus it's time for our little thirsty break here in the middle of this episode. I've got the griller. We don't even have to go far. I'll just put it up on the table and we'll have a quick sip and then we'll get onto to more about pet benetton on the imbalance history of rock and roll the taste of it. I like coming home for the holidays man. And by the way. It'll be the holidays free. No it marcus. Getting into the fall season. And so the bruce change and some different things appear on the board. A there's a lot going on and is always the best way to find out what's happening at the brewery location in hafbro is on their facebook. But one thing you know is. There's the blues jam. Every wednesday night hosted by the crooked soul band. And i've been noticing a lot of new names and a lot of new acts appearing recently at crooked is go in and see who's playing this weekend and don't forget if you're in delco jamie's house of music is a place where you can get crooked eye beers as well. Fresh bruise p. a. spirits in wine as as all the fun of the music. It both jamie's hasa music and the burri location in hafbro cook. It is brewery.

"You. well. I'll tell you what listener episode month in july was a lot of fun and we really got a lot of great feedback from people since we set it up. We keep getting emails and stuff from all of you. So thanks so much for giving feedback giving giving us some input on the episodes that we've done and episodes that you'd like to see stu so that's a good way to get things started in a new month after listener episode and. I think we probably will do that again. I'm totally down with doing listener episode month again. It was a lot of fun and some great ideas including the new orleans segment which i really enjoyed researching and digging into a little bit and i can't wait to dig into it. A little bit more so fascinating. Well we're looking elsewhere in the rock and roll landscape. in fact we're going to brooklyn back to nine thousand nine hundred fifty. Three january and the birth of patricia may andrews who ski. No i'm talking about talking about. I was right patty bay. Patty may from the block country singer. It might sound like having. May her her details of her young life in brooklyn but fast forward to one thousand nine hundred seventy two. She meets up with a guy get married. Stayed married for several years throughout the seventies but we know her by her married name her first one not our second one. That marriage lasted a lot longer so far than the first one ever again. I'm talking about pat benetton. They get around to it in a weird way. You definitely Took new long scenic route to get us to add the muhtar getting out of the gate on his vows. History of rock and roll by crooked iberian hard hafbro. They've got what you need. If you need a cold. Pike a great mix drink nice glass of wine and great music and entertainment all the crooked talking about pat ben atar. She kept her married name. After the divorce from dennis and right around that time she met a guy that nickname was spider. And i think it was because of the spidery nature of the way. He approached the guitar very talented guy. Neil giraldo and they clicked right away. Well maybe not right away but they clicked and started working together or found out that they be really great as a couple got married had kids and have been together ever since continuing to be musical and life partners. We're talking about pat. Ben atar and her little spider to neil giraldo on this episode of the amounts history rock and roll and at the beginning of my time in the record business. I did get to work with them. Very briefly was during their cammarata album and there was a whole thing. They wanted to go on howard. Stern and did and this is when we were working. The single from the album and the song called strawberry one and our being howard started asking her questions that linked strawberry wine to menstrual flow. And pat's pretty cool but she wasn't having it and it was the first time i'd seen someone lock horns with howard stern on the air in a long time and i guess i wasn't expecting that it would be my artist my new artists that i signed on to help work that would be in the midst of all that and it was fine. I felt mad. Actually because she's just sweetheart and so's neil they're all thing is very very nice and they're very kind sweet people and had a good life because they've done things the right way and it. Just it pissed me off at howard. Actually at the time. I i was just like come on. And she's a class lady and that's a whole nother subject. But i'll leave that gopher now but that was the time i worked with them and it didn't go great the album. You know i. It didn't make the top one hundred albums on billboard but we enjoyed working with her and Say a chance to be. We actually had met once store my mr days in the eighties as well. And there's a picture somewhere of Ex number one and me and the bat. Neil and i'll post that up online little crossings ranked the little crossings that we have but when those two cross signals when they across pass they started making music together and that led to the debut album in august two seventy nine called in.
