"Sonic teams up with his own sidekick tails and together they embark on a globe trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. I feel like I should be reading this in like a movie. I feel like you should. From the filmmakers behind the fast and the furious and Deadpool, this next level sequel, stars, James Marsden. Ben Schwartz, as the voice of sonic, tikka Sumter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam pally, and Jim Carrey returning alongside new additions Shemar Moore, with Idris Elba as the voice of knuckles in Colleen or shaughnessy as the voice of tales. Is that good enough that's pretty good, right? The movie is super fun, you guys. And if you haven't seen it yet, it is a great time. Sonic the Hedgehog two, of course, is now available on Blu-ray in digital, which is why we're talking about it today. So invite some friends over for a movie night and grill up sonic's favorite chili cheese dogs. And watch this next level sequel today. Check it out at Sonic the Hedgehog movie dot com that's Sonic the Hedgehog movie dot com. Brittany, you have been playing a game that I found super intriguing when they first announced it. And I'm gonna be honest, I forgot that this game was coming up. Oh man, I was so excited when I got the email in my inbox. Thank you for the review code. And I was like, oh my God, yes, I need this. It actually came in when I was in Hawaii, and I was just looking for something to kind of play poolside and it was absolutely perfect. So we are talking about RPG time the legend of right and right is spelled WRI GHT. This game's actually been out on Xbox since March, but now it is available. It has been cooking for a minute. Anyway, yeah, like if you're watching on YouTube dot com slash what's good games. I think it's very apparent why this game would catch anyone's eye, but for those of you listening, it's this hand drawn notebook.

"That's great. By the way, keep watching our show. You may be very excited at what happened. You might just be saying rework that you might just be a redneck and I need a catch phrase. And I just be. You might just be surprised. I like it. The right to self. What would it be? Also, you're trapping us, Sam, other Sam. You're trapping us and to have the same one the whole way through is so scary. Yeah. So it's like you definitely didn't want to be pick a film type where there's always a happy ending. Oh, like a Pixar movie. But then at the beginning, someone's gonna die. You're gonna lose somebody very close to you. There's that. That's true. What would you do, Sam? Maybe I would do like a very theatrical and wiry Kung fu movie like crushing Tiger king dragon? You know? Also very Starbucks. Exactly, and then I just like everything I do has like wire work. So I can work my throat, and I got a lot of spins and jumping on the counter and they're like standing down in the cup like falls into my hand and like thank you. My thumb up in like two coins go into the tip jar. And then the guy's like two coins and they fight to me a little bit and I'm like, oh, okay, here's another dollar. And then they're like very good. And I drink it. So all that. Hold that for a coffee. Frick coffee. You know what I mean? It probably gets off. In cinema. Beautiful. I think about you. I think it would be an animated movie because I think then I can do anything I want. And I could start one day like this in the next day. It could be flying, or I could be in a house that has balloons in it, or I could be or I could create the circle of life. A lot of people are talking about the circle life nowadays. A lot of people. You know what? Because sometimes in these movies, people start off as mermaids, but then look at these feet. Look at these things, aren't they neat? You know what I mean? Wouldn't you think? My collection's complete. Wouldn't you think I'm the girl? Girl who has every everything. Surprise? Wow. You might be surprised. So, all the reviews are in or the early reviews that I saw. And people like this show. And they really talked about the two of you together, decider called the two of you as a comedic duo. Quote, joy, personified. How cute. How cute. And I get the feel from watching the show that everyone got to improv a lot when they wanted to improv something a big part of the show as well. I wonder, what do each of you both like the most about the others improv style? I know you both came out of improv. Wow. By the way, this is so interesting to, I don't think we've ever been in a place where you have to compliment the person opposite as this will be I mean, I can't wait, but this is a very interesting opportunity. All right, so in terms of improv, two things, I think are important. One is trust. You have to trust the other person. In my head when I'm on stage with someone, if it's a two person trailer goes forever, it's like I have to know that whatever I do, I feel safe. I feel that Sam and Sam does this very well. I feel protected no matter how insane of a initiation or something I do in a scene. I know that Sam will take care of me and also you're with somebody that can make anything funny. So it takes so much pressure off of me as a performer. I know that if I say something that's only like, oh, what are you doing? Sam is so smart and fast that he'll find a way to make it funny. Man, there is nothing is Xavier's that you don't. Grammy? Yeah. People's choice award when he's got that MTV Movie work best comedy sex in? So funny. You're like, how is he gonna? Oh, that's how? The upside down part was. So I feel supported. I feel loved as a human being because I care about Sam. And I feel like I always want to make Sam look good so bad. And I have a feeling that he feels similar. Now same you're screwed. You can't say any of that. I can't see any of that. Okay, some of it. With Ben, Ben is so giving and so fast and so funny that you can truly turn your brain off. So sometimes you improvise, you have to kind of be on your toes, 'cause you're like, oh, let me get ready to patch up whatever's coming up so that I can make it at least work. But I don't have to do that with Ben. I know that wherever I go or wherever he goes, there's runway and there's leeway and there's space so we can just play and I love Ben as a person and we had to quick friendship that we just sort of it was as if we'd been improvising together for years and years, even though my first time was in these scenes. This is very, yeah. This is very much giving me that YouTube video where they ask her about Gayle and she's like, I can't name a better friend. It's very much that for me. And I like that energy. This is very warming. I love that question. We speak a similar language in your hearts or in similar places. I love it. I love it. Then Sam, we all stick around and play a fun game with me after the break. No. Samsung. Oh, no. You're the first person. There you go. Can't wait. Can I tell you there's nothing salmon? I love more than a game. Yeah, truly. We played games. I'm like throughout filming. Like, just whatever. What was the most played game during filming? There's two games. One is that Sam, I don't want to put him on the spot and he doesn't have to, but Sam knows the theme song to any TV show that we watch growing up. Sam is younger than me, but we're roughly go do it. Thundercat are on the move. Here the magic feel the roar. ThunderCats are loose. But that's like an easy one for him. He could do B sides. He could do like the he could do like the weird, the weirdest thing. Okay, okay, here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Pepper in the Saturday morning ABC. Was it girl? What's her name? Is he cool? Is she labeled? You talk about what's her name? Pepper rant. Yeah. It's like one and a million. Amazing. And you understand that would be ours. It's just they paired the right two people. I really, truly did. I love it. But after the break, y'all will have to answer the questions to the quiz game in the spirit of TV show theme song. Oh, fantastic. I don't even know what that means and I'm excited. Coming up, I play a game of who said that. Full of big improv energy. With Sam Richardson and Ben Schwartz. "You're listening to it's been a minute from NPR. I'm Sam Sanders. I gotta say, all the news this week, it has been a lot. A Supreme Court Justice retired. Russia is knocking on Ukraine's door. In a pretty missing way. The stock market has been all over the place, but mostly down. It's been a week. Sometimes in weeks like these, I think it's helpful to take some time and talk about things that aren't the news at all. And to have conversations that kind of just meander. Like this chat, I taped a bit earlier this week. I'm eating during this because I know there's no way this is gonna be on the podcast. What do you mean? When you say you're rolling is when I'll stop eating. I'm rolling. You're wrong. At Sam Richardson and Ben Schwartz. And that little interlude about a last minute meal. It very quickly turned into a pitch. Oh, by the way, Sam and I want to promote our podcast every single crunch. So Cap'n Crunch has a backstory, of course, right? Yeah. And he didn't just start as a captain. That's exactly correct. And there's different people in the crunch family. He's, of course, the captain, so the same way to say it's a drama as well as a comedy. Well, it's because it's important that you have both sides of it, you know what I mean? So it's a comedy, but it's a comedy that will make you cry. That's silliness. That ability to just meander into fun, that spirit of improv. It is a big part of Sam and Ben's new show on Apple TV plus. The after party, it is a whodunit murder mystery, and it takes place right after a 15 year high school reunion. One of those classmates being a celebrity. His name is Xavier. He comes, makes a big deal. It has an after party at his home, and he's killed there, and everybody is a suspect who shows up. And one of the detectives on the case, none other than Tiffany Haddish. Did anyone here actually witness Xavier's murder? No, ma'am. Officer. The murderer did. Everyone else doesn't know what happened. Because we're all stars of our own movie. And she means almost literally stars of their own movie. Sam Richardson and Ben Schwartz, they play two of those former classmates in the after party. And they are now two suspects. And over the course of the season, each suspect gets their own episode, told from their own perspective, each in the spirit of a specific film genre. I began by asking Sam Richardson about his episode. Sam, your character is telling detective Tiffany Haddish, his telling of the events, but it is told through the, I don't know, through the lens of RomCom. A RomCom. Kind of awesome. Yeah. What was it like to make that episode to make literally a RomCom about a murder? It was really fun. 'cause it's also the first episode of the series, so it sets the ground for the expectations of how the genres are going to play and you know it's not as bold or it's crazy as genre as like an action or you know as a musical. So it kind of lends itself to the sweet romance of it and sort of the expectations and sort of the things that also match the character. So it was like really fun to kind of get to play with those like classic like sort of like Tom Hanks, you know, Hugh Grant and charming woe is me, I shucks kind of guy. A week ago, she sent me an email, asked me to come. And it had a smiley face emoji. What does that mean? A name. What's going on, man? It's been like two years. And then like to have been as my RomCom sidekick or best friend, it was great. And then to play across from Zoe, who was so brilliantly talented like a wonderful person that was just like so much fun. Isn't it so crazy to be here again after all these years? You know what? It's not for me because I'm here every day. Oh wow. Your vice principal? Yep. Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't even see that I didn't look at your name tag because just looking at you from the chin up 'cause I'm so respectful. Such a gentleman. You know, to get to do that and I have to be first off and I kind of set the pace of what I think and self point of view is was like an interesting sort of exercise. So band before your episode in the spirit of the musical, were you a musical guy? I am, Sam Sanders. I love musicals. My mom has been a Bronx music teacher for 54 years. So music and musicals are a huge part of our lives, but I was always when I was in high school, I was too nervous. I don't know if Sam you were like this. Same was probably pretty cool. I know it was pretty cool in high school, but it's like, I was afraid to audition for the musical because I was afraid I wouldn't get it, and I would have failed and I would have been embarrassed and felt really bad. So it took to college and auditioning for the improv team for me to finally be okay to fail. But in high school, I didn't audition for anything acting was because I was too afraid it wouldn't work. And look at you now. I mean, how about it? Talking about your musical. On national public right now, I get my own musical..

"I appreciate the attempt to creativity, but I just, have you played the grapple dog demo on steam? Grapple dog. No. Yeah, grapple dog. You need to play this. It's a demo. It's this little indie game. It's the best sonic game I've played in years. Like, it's about a little dog with a grappling hook. But when you play it, it feels like the best sonic game you've ever played. And I look at this and I'm like, this is creative, I guess. I don't know. It feels I don't like what Sega gets derivative. Sega is at its best when it's pushing boundaries. You get something like she's rocking. Yeah, chichi rocket. Maybe we could name 50 things. And this isn't doing it for me. But then again, I famous from the game scoop days for saying mean things about sonic. Yeah. And plenty of good sonic. Very nice things about sonic. But I'm going to reserve things to say about this one till we see any gameplay because I just really don't even understand what this is going to be. It's hard. Unlike Wonder Woman where I'm like, cool, Wonder Woman monolith, I get it. This I'm like, Sonic the Hedgehog, 3D Sonic the Hedgehog. And what looks like either breath of the wild or shadow of the colossus, it doesn't compute to me. So we'll have to wait and see. But what does compute inside the hedgehog two, the movie trailer? Oh yeah, baby. It looks awesome. I will say that the first half of this trailer kind of let me down while I add this looks more of the first movie and less of what I like about the first movie, which is kind of the more side of the hedgehog gamey type stuff. I thought we were going to be in other worlds a little more than we seem to be very earth focused here. But there's a shift in this trailer towards the end when should just goes off the wall. We start seeing sonic on a snowboard. We see the chaos emeralds. We see knuckles, and it is fucking so stupid in the best way as possible. I'm glad for you Tim. I'm glad for you. This is just. There's the old meme. I don't know how far back it goes. Shut sonic and his shitty Friends, right? These aren't the shitty ones, though. They're talking about wheels is cute. They're not characters. They're not characters these things. They're sonic as barely a character. He's a mascot. He's barely a character. And the rest of these tails, I love he's a great design, but I don't care about the inner struggles of miles per hour. And when it comes to knuckles, I'm just like, you know, at that point, it's just get fucked. It's just, oh my God, show some goddess. This is what the sonic fans want and deserve. And I am not going to be the one to tell them that they're wrong to accept yet another sub par product to consume as they have so many others. So you know what? I'm okay with that. Yeah. I hope it's dope. I expect you know I love Ben Schwartz. I love Ben Schwartz. He's ideal casting for this. Elba's brilliant casting. Again, the first sonic movie was far better than anyone had any right to believe it could be. This 1 may surprise us to this look too much like a sequel to me. That was kind of my problem with it. See, my thing is, I saw sonic on a snowboard on a location that looks like it could be ice cap zone, which means we might get ice cap's own music, and that's all I really need. Because we got enrolled hill zone in the most epic fashion at the end of this trailer and God damn it after the show I'm watching it again. But moving on, cuphead, the delicious last course finally makes its return, we're getting the release date, my birthday, June 30th, 2022, way later that I had expect, but I'm just so happy we're actually getting this. This is the type of game that could have been canceled at any freaking moment. I'm a little let down that it still DLC. I was hoping that after this long of a wait, it was going to be turned into a full sequel, but I'll take whatever I can get from cuphead. It looks like some pretty meaty DLC too. And speaking of trailers, this was the trailer the night for leading in from the musical number to this pseudo island of misfit toys vibe to this to the incredible classic cuphead style and the animation. This was my get hype moment of the evening, I think, along with Alan Wake, like I was just like, I am ready to explode with anticipation for playing this. Cup has already proven its quality and I really do think that whoever designed this trailer deserves a medal. It's superb. So damn good. Moving on, we got Star Trek resurgence. It's a post next generation game made by telltale veterans. It looked really bad. It did not look good. I will probably play this. Even though it didn't look good because it's Star Trek and it's I'm going to pray there's a good story in there. But it did not look good and it was also weird hearing fake Spock. That was strange. But I can't apologize. This is my bad game moment. You know, sometimes we just lean into things that we shouldn't. And unfortunately, Star Trek is a place where I have terrible blinders. I'll probably play this. We got the expanse getting a telltale series. It's a pretty cool story. Kev, you excited about that? Yes. Biggest fan I know and that's the level of energy we're bringing to it next up we got a plague tail requiem, gets a brand new trailer. A favorite for a lot of people, so we're getting a SQL's really cool. Then we got a whole bunch of other things that are a little bit smaller. We got among us coming to VR, which is kind of fun. We got a new gameplay, trailer for saints row, silent. Don't skip doom. Don't you dare skip. I saw that work my way up. Creator announces a new game slitter head. It looks weird. I don't know about it. Then we got doomed spice wars. It's a four times real time strategy game. What does that mean? Everyone was giving me shit for not knowing what that means. What's four times mean? Four X and it stands for it has to do with things like exploration, expansion. Anyway, civilization, just think sieve. That's what for X means. When you see four X, that means like a sieve type game. That's the easy way to understand it. But yeah, and some people are excited about this because dune is very well suited for that, but also a little bit of video game history here. The first truly successful real-time strategy game. Really in history was June 2, which was also based on this franchise. And it was an excellent strategy game. It wasn't for X style it was real time strategy style. But that's why some people of a certain age were getting really excited about this because June 2 broke open to created the whole command and conquer world and everything that followed really to isometric modes we have today. That all kind of came out of that. So that's why they were excited. Very cool. Moving on from that, we got a bunch more smaller things in some kind of big deals that are just quick mentions, but X BioWare debs reveal fantasy Victorian survival game nightingale, tiny Tina's wonderlands trailer shows off some chaotic fantasy action, another example of just we've seen the game a lot, but now we got more. We got a March 26th release date. Crossfire X is coming Xbox on February 10th, monster hunter rise, expansion with some more new NPCs and stuff. A big one, fun fantasy 7 remake integrate come in to PC coming to epic game store next week. So that's a huge announcement. Obviously not as big as the SQL would be, but very cool. Very exciting unexpected. Eventually, eventually, daylight two, we saw another cinematic trailer. That is an example of a game that we don't need to see more. We've seen a whole bunch, but I guess marketing has to happen for it at some point when it's actually releases. We got warhammer space marine two announced. That was really big for a small group of people. We had destiny two, the witch queen trailer with the February 2nd release date. Tunic finally gets a release date. The Zelda like tunic gives a release date of March 16th, 2022. Persona four arena ultimax announced for PS4 switch and PC. Rumble. That's just a troll. That was just. It really was. It's always going to be with Alice at this point. Like, come on. It's just like, come on, guys. Just put P four G on switch. Come on. All right. Rebel verse, it's a brand new brawler take on battle Royale from iron galaxy.

"I think pairing it down would probably be the move and then trying to re expand it and build up toward the smash ultimate of this new next match brothers. And I also don't just see it as a complete possibility. They just poured ultimate over again. Oh, yes. Be easy. We know that Nintendo doesn't go for visual fidelity and I don't expect gigantic massive hardware updates to where it's going to be ray tracing and all that cool stuff. Unless we get this rumored switch HD thing or whatever, switch four K thing. But the idea of porting over smash, putting it in a newer engine with newer lighting and better textures and all the upgraded stuff that we're sort of used to whenever remasters happen. I see that as a complete possibility that game smash relaunches ultimate mega edition with 5 extra fighters. God, I love it. Everybody would absolutely love it. I mean, I would buy it by 5 extra characters who are those characters Andy characters. Oh, let me tell you, buzzing. Oh, man. I'll tell you off stream 'cause it's a lot of stuff I know. I told you in the post show. For now, let's jump in to the next news story, which includes a character that's included in smash brothers. Story number 6, Sonic the Hedgehog twos movie poster has been revealed. This is Gavin lane at Nintendo life. Kevin, I have an image at the top of the article that you can pull up, that is the poster. Following on from recent news that tales voice actor Colleen o'shaughnessy will be once again voicing miles per hour in the upcoming sonic movie. The pollster the poster for the sequel has been revealed and it appropriately references another Sonic the Hedgehog too. The Game Awards honcho Jeff keely also tweeted to not only confirm rumors that sonic's next game will feature, but also that both Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz, who played robotnik and sonic respectively, will be in attendance at Thursday's award event to introduce a world premiere of a trailer. I love Spider-Man posters. This poster is so good. It is very sonic too. Sonic standing on top of a plane being piloted by tails in the background, you see robot chasing after him. There's a level of song that hits off to you that is literally this. I think it's like sky chase zone or something like that. And I fucking love this. This is bringing back memories already and I love that they're harking back to sonic tea this way. Do you ever think how it's weird to me blessing how you and I are frequently on TikTok? And every once in a while I get a video of Jim Carrey being very existentialist and then I see him on a poster as doctor robotnik just kind of like two different sides. I mean, he's perfectly unhinged. When he's saying, what he's being diverse at Jim Carrey is like, what the fuck is up with this guy, but then he's playing doctor robotnik, and it's like, yeah, unhinged. You're never quite sure if it's a bit, but he's on a red carpet being like, none of this matters. We are in a simulation. But I'm just like, damn, Jim Carrey, you're being kind of wild right now, but I don't disagree with a whole lot of this. And then I see him on a poster's doctor robotnik. It's just kind of weird the idea that he is, he's just a villain in a video game, and he was graded it. I liked him a lot in the first one. Yeah, actually, I can't wait for some of the hedgehog to. I'm hyped about that. Hype about the idea of a new game a reveal for the new game because it's been, it feels like a while, even though I think it was earlier this year that we got that original ts of the next sonic game that is seemingly coming next year. I really want to know more about that. There are those reports that it is going to be an open world Zelda game, which is I think the theme of this games daily. And I find it hard to believe that a sonic game can nail being a breath of wildlife game, but I'm down for the try. I'm down for them to try it out. And apparently it's going to be called sonic frontiers. I have many questions. One of the things I one of my main takeaways from that original trailer that we got earlier in the year is that this seems to be a it looks stylistically like a new take on sonic, just from the standpoint of it doesn't look like classic sonic or modern sonic the way we know classic and modern sonic generations and forces all this stuff. It looks like a different kind of sonic. And that makes me excited because I don't want them to keep trying to do the same thing over and over again and failing in the way that sonic forces wasn't great. And a lot of sonic games we've gotten recently just haven't been great. It basically stopped talking to me. Did you play that did you play that you probably are already mentioned at the Xbox 60 frames for sonic generations? Yeah. Yeah. I haven't played the 60 frames yet because I was a recent addition. I played sonic generations on Xbox, just like last year, just because I wanted to. But actually, I had been wanting to go back to that because that actually got me really excited because that's the way I want to play sonic with smooth frames. But I hope we see something that is kind of the redefining of a sonic game because those games kind of need it. They kind of really need it. I need it. I've talked off and I just fucking hate the way sonic feels. And it's just all personal preference. But it's an IP that I've always sort of just loved and I really enjoy the characters. But God damn, I just, it just has never really felt great to me. Even when it's at its best. And it possible that it will never be for me blessing, but I just really want to be able to be in that world and I think just slow down everything blessing. Does he need to go that fast? Have you been playing? You've been playing solar rash. I have, yeah. How do you like how that game feels? Because I saw somebody on Twitter mentioned that this could be how a sonic game feels. Like if a sonic open world game feels. And I kind of agree. I think that is kind of what you would want to aim forward it is, hey, here's smooth momentum smooth momentum driven movement. That feels something like something like jet set radio, but also has that boost mechanic when you want to get that quick burst of speed. And not automated. I think one thing that I've always disliked about the 3D sonic games is the automated endless runner feel of you hit that bumper that launches you up and there's three bad guys and you tap a three times ago. Boop, boop, boop, and you just go into them. I like that when I am playing solar ash, if I wanted to grind on that rail, I have to manually jump and aim correctly and land on the rail. As opposed to, even like a ratchet and clank like situation where you just tap right and jump and you land on the next rail, I do sort of like the manual input feeling that solar ash offers. I totally agree with the man. I didn't even thought of that. That's a great comparison. Yeah. Make it feel like I have more agency as opposed to just running around and then I hit a wall and suddenly the game is all about momentum makes me hit a rock and suddenly I just feel like it's a big challenge. Because what they go for with sonic, a lot of the time in the 3D platformers is making it like a roller coaster kind of experience, a set piece kind of experience where it is, it's less about that freedom of freedom of control and more so about what is the coolest way we can get you from point a to point B and then how do we stop you at some points to create challenge with combat or whatever..

And what I'll tell you, the video listeners and just don't mind it. Don't worry about it. You know, just keep this don't think about it too hard. Story number four, Sony is reportedly happy with sales numbers for kina bridges spirits. I'm pulling from George Yang at IGN. Mike and Josh Greer from Ember lab have revealed that Sony is happy with the sales numbers of Cana bridges spirits, and that the game is already recouped its initial development costs. In an interview with Bloomberg, the great brothers didn't provide a sales number, but they noted that they were pleasantly surprised at sales so far. Quote, it's hard to tell what's a huge success. Sony's happy, said Josh Greer. My grier also mentioned that Sony put plenty of effort into marketing Cana bridges spirits because of the large amount of attention it was getting. It was revealed alongside the PS5 back in June 2020. At game conferences, Ember lab pitched earlier versions of the game while there were lots of big publishers interested. The studio eventually closed a deal with Sony for both funding and marketing support. Additionally, Ember lab was allowed to learn about the PS5, your prior to its official announcement and was given development kits for the console. As for the studio's next project, the gear brothers know that it'll be a narrative driven game cool. That's awesome. It's very nice to see that Canada is killing it because that is a very, very good video game. That deserves it. Yeah, it's actually kind of killing it after Cana killed all of us many a time because it was shockingly difficult. But yeah, I think that's awesome to see it get that kind of support. And yeah, we don't really know the specifics on the numbers. But I remember from the September downloads that PlayStation put out on their blog, Kano British spirits was the third most downloaded game in the U.S. on PS5, right behind death loop in two K 22. So I feel like I was pretty surprised to see it. That high up there, it was like number one on the EU for that same PS5 skew. Downloads wise. So like, yeah, I think that's really awesome. And I think speaks to just how much excitement built around this, you know, I definitely saw a lot of people looking forward to before it came out. And then obviously when it did come out, I think everyone was a little bit pleasantly surprised. I definitely didn't go into the game expecting it to be bad. I was excited for it from the marketing. But I was a little bit surprised by how good it ended up being. And I think a lot of people felt that way. So yeah, definitely I wouldn't say a sleeper 'cause again, it's doing well, but if you have not checked it out for whatever reason, it's definitely one to take note of, definitely one of my favorite experiences on PS5 this year. Yeah. Yeah, and I think it's worth noting that being number three in that PSN sales chart behind only death loop in NBA two K 22 is super huge for a game that is a new IP from an indie studio that came kind of came out of nowhere. You know, they had the help of Sony marketing and they had a really good trailer to kind of help launch it off the ground. But that is really impressive nonetheless. So shout out to kana. Story number 5, Idris Elba says knuckles voice won't be sexy in the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie. That's like a collective boo, boo. That sucks. That sucks why Idris Elba why. I'm pulling from Rick Stevenson at screen rant. Idris Elba has been pretty quiet about his upcoming performance as knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog too. But he's now revealed at least one detail. It won't be sexy. The eradicator will make his big screen debut in the sequel to 2020, Sonic the Hedgehog, which is currently scheduled to release on April 8th, 2022, which is way sooner than I thought. For some reason I thought this movie was years away. I can't believe that it's only like 5 months away. That's where elbow or maybe more like a math. Don't worry about that. We'll start as knuckles alongside Ben Schwartz, as sonic, Jim Carrey is doctor robotnik slash Eggman and James Marsden, as James marston. When he was first introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog three knuckles no, you can't just fucking roll past that. James Marsden. The article, right? They write sonic and doctor robotic. They don't give James Morrison's character. Okay. I just have to say James Barnes stains James marston. When he was first introduced inside of the hedgehog three, knuckles wasn't exactly best friends with sonic. Instead, the echidna was positioned as a minor antagonist, a muscle bound brute, easily tricked by doctor robotnik into fighting sonic. Only to realize later on, that Eggman was the true enemy all along. By all accounts, the version of knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog two, we'll follow that same story. Likely joining sonic in the battle against doctor ekman, Doctor Eggman before the movie ends. I was full quote on the matter goes, quote, honestly, I can not say, contractually, I can not say anything. But I wouldn't say he was sexy. I don't think I'm going for that. That's for sure. And, quote, Janet question, I have no reversing this. Baseline knuckles. Is that voice sexy to you? Like in the game. In the game, no. Actually, actually, actually, actually, actually, Barry, I'm going to define a clip of knuckles. No. God damn it. I started running so late. We're gonna move on to the next news story, but before out today, it's a real circle back. I gotta hear knuckles was again, because the answer might be yes. It's what do I need to look at? I don't fucking play any of these goddamn games. Are these 3D games? Yeah, I would just like a knuckle boy signs honestly. Yeah. Well, I guess I'm gonna be a little bit more creative though, which is different. As parents looking that up, let's move on to our last few story story number 6. This is a follow-up to today's PSW XO XO that went up. Little double inside, we'll be at tomorrow's stand up play. This is from at PlayStation on Twitter. They tweeted out this morning. All aboard for tomorrow's data play, which includes your first in depth look at little devil inside. Tune in at two p.m. Pacific time, which all I gotta say is don't doubt me, everybody. Don't do it. Here's one of my predictions. This was one of your hopes. It was not a prediction. But yes, I was thinking of this too because it counts as you calling something. But PlayStation, what the hell? Why didn't you confirm any of my predictions or hopes? They went out of their way. Again, PlayStation, clearly a fan of the show, listen to, you know, put out this post. They're like, okay, let's play. Why didn't you tweet out the Final Fantasy 16? Isn't gonna be at tomorrow's state of play PlayStation. Exactly. What's up with that? All right, Barry, do you have it first? Go ahead. I do. I'm not happy about it. Battled all right. I remember like it was yesterday. It was sexy. Yesterday. This is from sonic colors. Let's just say. Into the kids. Travis willingham. Too. Let's just say he won't be bothering us again. Oh, yeah, what are you saying? Is this sexy for you? Okay, their fellow calm down. Not really. I feel like maybe in.

"Solution to avoid amputation. What propelled you to do that? And how is the foundation doing overall? Well lately, we're doing great, like the news of my departure. Um it's funny and great at the same time, like, uh, we every time I did an interview like this. I would find a way to mention or just come up, but I broke my leg in college 1980 last play of the game. We're at Oregon. I'm in the game. Last play were down 33 to 9, I think was very Decide One more We call it 95. That was like triple go routes all over. And why not? You know when I try to make it 33 16 guys fix his helmet on my ankle ball comes out of my hand. It was a wet day, horrible pass and have a fracture dislocation. So I played the next year. And this this favor like wrapping all these many stories into one here the next year I played I was second string to Sam King. Sam King led the nation in passing yards will beat BYU at BYU that year. Uh, Jimmy Sandusky, a post corner Jim McMahon was hurt. A guy named Steve Young was their quarterback. Yes, Funny, right, Like all that I didn't play that game, Sam through for like 500 yards. So after the season, the Seahawks gave him a free agent deal. But he was going to go to Canada. Instead. My coach said, Hey, if you like that guy, you should look at the backup guy. He probably has a better arm. Sam was a better quarterback, right? That was pretty much the book on us and I go through. To Steve Largent. If you will. He happened to me in the building. That was my travel guy. Wow. And he was. Yeah, and I signed a contract. But I ended up working out for three weeks in Kirkland. But I end up failing the physical for this damn ankle, right? They put me on the machine to measure the strength and I was thinking it was just like a 40 or bench press. You know, I was trying right? I would have cheated. I would have gone hard on my bad leg. 70% of my good leg. I didn't realize what was going on. But they were measuring the difference between my good and my bad and the variance was so great. They're like we just You know what dark. The doctor just said. We can't pass you like your ankle isn't isn't going to last or you're going to get hurt worse, or we're gonna have to pay for it or whatever. So I was out. I got a TV job five days later in Seattle is kind of a gofer, right? Took a while to move up to three or four years. I get on the air than I do sports and the whole ESPN thing. So I mean, I think all of that matters in the makeup of me and how I look back at everything. The appreciation I have for what it all meant, and also kind of where I am now. Like I've got more attention in the last three weeks than I have. In 27 years you were talking about outside more in three weeks than 27 years by far. Wow. Yeah. I mean, I'm not saying I didn't. Somebody wouldn't call. Hey, you want to be in a commercial, but I'm talking about in a condensed period. Well, you know, you know what It's like. It's like you died to a certain extent. That's what Ben Schwartz said. I don't like using that word. But sure, Uh, said, how is your electronic funeral or something else? No, no. And I was so touched. Truly earnestly. You know, I didn't know how many people would even carry, like, like whatever some other guy old guy left ESPN, you know, give us the next game. And just the outpouring and the sweet words and from athletes from strangers, you know, from colleagues, you know all over the place. So going back to the run free, though, because I got sidetrack the ankle is what the point that was filled the physical years and years later, I'm now 50 something. And I was considering amputation. I'm not kidding. Like it hurts so bad at this period in my life. I was doing the football stories. Matt Doyle, the producer with me and and Oh, my God, he he just shake his head as I'm like limping off the plane turning, you know, drive your ankle into a place where it's bending up again because I have like a locked ankle of like a self used ankle essentially and the flights not good for it, and it's our It was a bad hair and dark period. And I got advice from the amputation people in Seattle Harborview Hospital. They said You're too young. We wouldn't even we would reject you. We're not doing it. You need to go Try something else. Go get a better therapist like we've got a connection to get a better brace. You know? So I go this guy Nino predict. He's a chiropractor here in Kirkland, Washington, and he saved my life like he brought it back to life. He he made it Look better. He manipulated it. Kind of got it going again. Then I gotta brace but Few years later, I got a better brace. So this thing is called an exo Sim and it's funny. I told Jim Zorn, who has a similar problem on his left ankle. He got the same first breast as a gym. You've got to go to the second guy right now. You have a station wagon and I have a Ferrari like they're two different devices. No offense, The other guy, it's you know, it doesn't for some people, but I can run with this one. I'm gonna go play golf. I'm out the door After this question, I hope and get love. And I can walk with Gretchen. I can hike I can sprint like it's amazing. So the day I got mine is is late Fall 2017. I believe it was Gretchen. I immediately like Let's do something good. Like I cried for two hours. When I got mine. I couldn't believe my gift. We start a foundation called Run freely. We've raised money a whole bunch of different ways. Jamal Crawford just give $1000 for each of my 27 years, so he just donated 27,000 whole bunch of people have done nice things and end the $5 ones matter as much as Jamal's 27,000, Right $5 to 1 person is 27,002 Jamal. So it's all relative. But we have We have enough money right now for six new veterans, and I just got to call the next one in line out in Port Angeles, Washington, which is on the Western peninsula, She was so sweet. She almost made me cry on the phone like I I couldn't Hear her answers without getting emotional. And sometimes I choke up talking about it myself. Just because it truly changed my life Now, I don't need a day to day. You know, I'm not in great pain anymore. We're just to go to store. You know, I just wear flip flops all the time or slippers or barefoot. But if I'm gonna do something athletic, I have to have it or my ankle will totally blow up. So it's huge gift to me. And I'm really proud that we're doing so the fact that you Departed. ESPN became a huge benefit gift to run freely dot.

Three after the thomas ditch kind of. I feel like it's much easier to do so because it's animation it's just the voice actors who think that they could just like get rid of the character of terry and bring in somebody completely new. I mean i could. I could see them bringing over. Not necessarily an alternate reality terry but maybe just an alternate version or some late. They grow out there on lab store thing. Because you're you're half aren't yes. So how or even like in season one when they create that That little dude or whatever at the end of season one i wouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised if they do of mike that. So you bring in a new voice actor for terry and it's like the same person just a different voice when it be crazy if they brought in ben schwartz who you know well they schwartz. They did middle. Ditching schwartz on netflix. Dot com find out how loyal shortest his friend take his character. He's not very loyal right now because he like. If you go to his twitter. He's fucking taken thomas he's taken middle ditch and schwartz off the list of credits on twitter and it was there. Wow i'm disappointed. Because i had middle different sorts on my list because i fucking love ben shorts but then that thomas middle stuff came out. And i'm like all right. Missed the boat on that one on. Never see man from uncle. Now that middle distance schwartz fucking act was fucking brilliant. It really was and was and it just sucks. Because i love solar opposite so much that i don't i hate it when like something i love has like somebody that's like controversial involved in it because then you don't know the future of the series and it's like yeah middle ditch you kind of fuck this up for. Not you fucked up your life number one but number two like you kinda fucked it up for everybody. That's involved in this show. That has jobs on the show. The animators justin roland. Everybody who's involved in this show..

"You don't tune in to your my friends talk about their pickup league. Tune in. Dear me, talk about the sonic the hedgehog movie. This week. I saw the trailer was released, and I'll watch pretty much any trailers. So I watched the trailer. And here was my initial thoughts. Like, oh, that voice Miller. Oh, that's bench Schwartz. Ben Schwartz as the voice assigned the hedgehog. That's a great choice. Bench Schwartz is super funny. There's Jim is Dr botany chew up some scenery. Maybe it'll be funny. Maybe not I don't know. But sure great. And then I was left with the very strong feeling that this movie does not look very good. You can't be sure from a trailer, but more than that, this is a kids movie in some sense, people would say anything with a any kind of superhero video game. Stop movie is a kids movie. But this is a very much a kids movie. I looked at the end it said this film is not yet rated. But when it does I think you're gonna see a G or PG. Perhaps the Paul George thirteen. And that's where it ended for me. Like, this is a movie that I'm not ever gonna see but good for them. What did you think of the look of sonic the hedgehog while last night? Scrolling through Twitter in the late stage of this raptors game because I couldn't watch the old television. But I was too lazy to turn it off. And I saw. Some sort of headline that was like, sonic. The hedgehog director says they're going to be changing design sonic, and I was like, oh, that's so funny onion style headline. And I'm scrolling. And I see like a different headline. That says the same similar thing. I look at like. The what's going on? So then I have to put the phone down and go over the laptop. I. I can't I can't googling from iphone. And it turns. This is not a joke. This is real the director tweeted, the message is loud and clear, you aren't happy with the design, and you want changes it's going to happen. So basically people freaked out they didn't like the way sonic, the anime here. The other characters are real people is. Created by machine and. They weren't happy with the way look to my eyes. He looked friendlier then the sonic that people wanted one hundred percent disagree. You don't think? So because the more anthropomorphic people are saying he looked more like a human. Yeah. And the other way he looks more like a like an angry like man, I'm gonna go spin real like head truck. With spiky hair. But he looks you're right. The part that's creeping MIO. I guess a lot of people is the weird human quality look to the teeth. L'armee? Yeah. People are angry about the teeth.
