Pittsburgh Steelers' Chase Claypool Suffers 'Minor Ankle Sprain' in Practice
"Lot of steelers. Nation was collectively holding their breath at the end of practice today when one wide receiver chased klay pool went down and did not go off the field under his own power. He had to be helped to the locker room. By ben roethlisberger and eric hebron luckily reports and already out that. It's not a high ankle sprain. She stay low ankle sprain. he's going to be out. I feel we're not gonna see him this this week. I don't even know there. Were gonna play him or not. The next week all depends but bottom line is he should not be missing significant time. That's going to affect the regular season. We might know a little bit more tomorrow from coach tomlin but i doubt he really says anything because that's just what he does but the it. It's not anything that looks like it's going to require extensive time
"ben roethlisberger" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain
"The live mike on tuesday. The steelers staticky on thursday in the pm. Mondays the hangover tuesday's scarborough show wednesday. The curtain call thursdays the preview. Friday with tony saturday's the touchdown under sundays two. Am and we are expanding our platform during the season. We're gonna give you more information on that in the coming weeks. But i have to be honest. I love to tell stories. We haven't figured that out yet. And i wanna tell you how i kind of thought of this and it's gonna be a little little side ram. We'll put it that way. So i i've always loved cutting grass whether you call it mowing the yard. Cutting grass doesn't matter the same thing when i was a kid probably about ten years old. Maybe eleven is when my dad taught me how to cut grass and we my brother and is three years older than me. We were tasked with keeping the grass cut and my dad probably did that to the he didn't have to do it. I get it. I understand that now is the father of five and i would cut. I just love the way the yard looks when it was freshly cut and it was in. I also a golfer and a baseball fan and say when you're a golfer a baseball fan you always see designs on the course or on the field. It just looks so nice. It just is awesome. I love the way it looks. And i really got in. I love cutting grass. I was. I'd cut a couple of people's yard in the neighborhood for money. I would cut my grandmother's grass for money. People from church. I would cut there. I i still to this day. I cut to other lawns. And i'm thirty eight years old to other lawns for money. Just because they they need someone to do it. I like doing it. Still which a quick side rand if you're a parent and you have a child that's of age to be able to cut grass. I don't care what gender they are if you haven't taught them how to do it yet. You're giving you to your child. Teach them how to cut the grass. Let them go out there and go to neighbors houses and say if you cut your grass for you for money. It's a good way for them to make money. It's a good way for them to earn their money. I had to cut the grass to get my allowance. So i'm thirty eight years old. I'm cutting the grass. And i'm thinking i my thought is where the kids. We're only where the kids out of here to cut the grass. I mean i shouldn't have to do this. i'm fine doing it. i still enjoyed. It's good exercise dad because it's not riding mowers a push mower but i'm still in like where are the kids where the kids out there. That wanna make a few bucks whether it's money for gas whether it's money just to go take a take their girlfriend or significant other out on a date. Where are the kids. That's what i wanna know. Where are they. Where are the kids anyways. While i cut grass. Sorry for the quick rand while i cut grass. I oftentimes think about a lot of different things. What it takes you a an hour to cut a yard in. You're doing multiple yards in a day. I find myself like my mind wanders anyways but it always seems to be is especially now with my. Let's ride podcasts. I always think about what i talk about on the podcast. What's unique what's different. What is something that could really be interesting to a lot of people and they wanna hear me talk about it so cutting grass over the weekend and all of a sudden i started thinking about the steelers running game and just how awful it was last season in twenty twenty. I mean dead last dead last i. We're beating a dead horse at this point. Everyone knows that statistic yards per carry yards per game. Dead last thirty seconds thirty two. It was bad. And so i started thinking about the running game and i started thinking about the impact it will have on the steelers if they can rejuvenate their running game whether as she harris weather. It's benny snell. Anthony macfarlane kaelin balance. It doesn't matter who that offensive line. If they can actually develop a running game what would the ripple effect be for the offense. And so i'm cutting the grass something in the win. This could have a huge impact on ben rothlisberger. And that's where the headline came from for this podcast. Why a ben rothlisberger renaissance could happen in twenty twenty one. He could be the renaissance man in. I say that based on the fact that they can run the football if they can. Effectively inefficiently run the football. I feel like ben. Rothlisberger could have a really good season a really good season. I could've talked about this for twenty to thirty minutes. And give you my opinions. And what i think and i i think you know what jeff you have some time. It's the weekend. Why don't you do a little mini. Scofield do a little minnie's dabke. Look up some stats. Give yourself give yourself some numbers to support this. Here's what i did. I went and i looked at every single one of ben rothlisberger seasons. I looked at the win loss. Total for that year. I looked at who the leading rusher was for that season and then i looked at ben rothlisberger statistics for that season and when i looked at his statistics i looked at four main categories and these are the categories that i feel like are really important to not only any quarterback but to the success of the offense. I looked completion percentage. I looked at total yards touchdowns and interceptions. So we're going to go back through this and this is going to bring back some memories when you hear some of these names. If you're old enough you'll remember some of these names I only listed running backs. It is the leading rusher. I only listed two running backs if they were over. Four hundred yards. I'm gay so if you had someone. Let's say like isaac redmond's first year when he made the team i think he rushed for. Maybe two hundred yards najji. Davenport was another running. Back who i think. He had a season where he may be rushed for three something. In that regard. I did not put them down. They did not get over four hundred dollars if they got over four years listed. So let's do this. Let's go back to two thousand four and let's run through this and then we're going to show. I'm going to take a look at some. Comparisons here may take a look at Overall general numbers for roth is we're gonna and we're to connect some dots and see how important it is. Maybe to have a rusher run for over a thousand yards okay. Let's do this so back in two thousand four ben roethlisberger rookie year. They finished fifteen in one legendary owner. That the steelers had two rushers. That really came close to a thousand yards. Jerome bettis rushed for nine hundred forty and do staley. Yeah duce staley. the one. The year that he had its best year with pittsburgh. Eight hundred thirty yards rushing. They were the leading rushers on the steelers. Ben roethlisberger finished the year..
Steelers Sign a New Contract With Roethlisberger for the 2021 Season
"Ole Ben Roethlisberger cabin back to the Steelers and he's taking a five million dollar cut to do. So I was going to say is pretty damn awesome. That's pretty damn awesome. And you know you and I kind of talked about this at that was going to be the case just because he'd already had talks with the rooneys wage a look. I'll leave money on the table if that means I get to come back. So right yes, so he reduced his paid from 14 four or from 19 million to 14 million, which gives them about 15 million in cap space which in the grand scheme of things isn't a lot but just the gesture alone the gesture. I mean well and well this kills my whole, New Jersey Pharisee theory of give me the way he was sitting on the bench was looking off into the distance taking in the stadium. That was it. He was going to hang it up. We're not going to see him and well this happens so it just shows you guys. We're not Sports analysts by any stretch of the imagination cuz I completely speak for yourself Hold My Clipboard and my headset. I got this. Well Amy has kind of a point.
Breakdown of Ben Roethlisberger’s new contract
"Ben roethlisberger has a new contract. So what is what is the tweet. What's the headline the pittsburgh steelers. Send this out. We have signed quarterback ben rothlisberger to a new contract for twenty twenty one period. That's it what. I'm sitting there reading this thing and they can't be serious they cannot be serious. Said that's it. We've signed ben rothlisberger to a new contract for twenty twenty one. What are you talking about. He was already under contract for twenty twenty one. His salary cap hid for twenty. Twenty one was forty million dollars so we knew that he was. I'm reading this thinking. What in the world they talking about. This is the worst headline writing or is just the dumbest story i've ever seen in my life and so you're wondering okay. I gotta go to this article. Because i need to see what in the world they're talking about and so you click on it and it's literally three paragraphs the pittsburgh signed ben rothlisberger to to a new contract for twenty twenty one. It was announced today. Okay what does this mean a new contract. So here's what general manager and vice president. Kevin colbert says quote. We are excited. We were able to come to an agreement with ben rothlisberger on a new contract for him to return to the steelers in twenty twenty one pause a new contract for him to return to the steelers in twenty twenty one. He was coming back anyways. I know that they wanted to give the salary cap down. What a what do you think we are idiots. Let me continue quote. We know the ben can still played a high level in do special things for this team. Our goal remains the same to put together a roster that will compete for another championship. We are happy that dan will be one of our leaders to help accomplish that goal. End quote

"He doesn't he's not he's not really in that range anymore is putting up those kind of numbers and is you know. It's not anything to do with you. His weapons or anything. He has amazing weapons. An and pittsburgh so it says he's thirty something years old thirty eight thirty thirty. Some of the oldest. You know he's old. And i know we see tom brady doing it and i know he sees your brees. Doing drew. brees had a down year last year. And he's contemplating retirement. So i mean he's he's getting up there in age and that's means everything is gonna likely come down a little bit. Not everybody can be You know tom brady. That's what makes them to goat and so if he returns. I would assume that these numbers would likely say around the same. I wouldn't expect some dramatic jump or a dramatic drop I would assume in this range in that. Fifteen to twenty quarterback always is a safe place for him but Yeah if he returns. Now what's interesting is if he doesn't return what happens if ben roethlisberger doesn't return number one. What does steelers do at quarterback right like we know there's options out there right now. i don't i don't really see the steelers trying to trade right now for a shawn watson or carson. Wentz is not really the game for them right now. They are in bad calorie salary cap situation. And i don't really see on trying to trade for You know a quarterback while pay ben rothlisberger dead cap it because his dead cap it is i twenty over twenty million so even if they were to let him go he has a big cap it to the team regardless So they're not gonna just trade for one of these guys take on all that salary that's not happening Is there a younger guy. Or a free agent you know or is it between haskins. Who already on the team which asks people you know like the pump. These guys up. You know we wanna we wanna root for the young guy that came in with all this promise in now. He's in a new team new place second chance at this. You know a career. But yeah i mean i honestly Is it a trade for guy. Gardner men shoe you know when they draft trevor lawrence at the top of the draft to that t. That's not impossible to me There are guys who could be traded for.

"And stream now got our play of the day coming up. And, uh, your phone calls as well as we always do. Every Monday, best and worst to the weekend. We make way for the popular co host of pro football talk live on Peacock. Chris Simms, the former NFL quarterback who joins us on the program, Chris, Thanks for joining us. Let me start with the quarterback. We are most likely to not see next season. Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees. Okay. The one were most likely not to see. I mean, I think it's really up in the air for all three of them. I'll say I don't see Big Ben. I think Big Ben's going to try to give it one more year. All right, So I'm going to say that and I think for what he's done for the Pittsburgh Gordon organization. If he says he wants to come back one more year, they'll probably let him Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, one You know, I think Philip Rivers is probably the guy would say is the most likely we've we won't see again, Drew Brees. I think it's a little bit like Ben Russell's burger if he says he wants to come back. They're gonna bring him back. But I do get a field or a sense just by some of the comments Sean Payton made during the year that they'd like to move on a little bit, But I think rivers would probably be the leader in the clubhouse on that one. Who deserves the heat for the Steelers lost last night. Well, um You know, overall, just the whole offensive unit. The approach everything they did you know, towards the end of the year, you know, I think I came out a few weeks ago. It's one thing to be predictable. It's one thing to be predictable within your predictability. Okay, we're gonna We're gonna throw the ball. And now you know, we're gonna throw the ball with our dads, so they're predictably predictable. Right. That's the better way to say it. See me and be in English are no so that good, but that's the way they say. That's why they pay you the me talk pretty. Yeah, me talk pretty right. Me play football Meat blonde. I mean, not that smart, So, but that's like, I think that's it, though. When you talk about it, it's we know they're going to throw the ball. Okay? And then the compounded We know they're going to throw the ball five yards down the field. You know, over the middle of the middle of the ball middle of the field that area and I think that's really the issue. I mean, come on, snap over the head. That interception over the running back, said in a formation in the play set that they usually don't do play action. One man route, you know, then they get into the next drive, and it's the third one and they can't even run the ball for a yard if they really want you because that's not what they are, so it's really overall just the offense in general. And, of course, big Ben's a big part of that, By the way, we're focusing on the teams that lost over the weekend right now, and then we'll talk about, you know, moving forward, So just so you know, Yeah. The Rams and the Seahawks. You know, I'm not surprised at what happened. I'm surprised at how it happened. It really felt like the Rams. That was a varsity in Seattle was a junior varsity. How did that happen at home? To Seattle. Yeah, well, the Rams defense is special. That's the first thing and the one thing I say when I really break down Rams Seahawks matchups to you Got to remember the Rams were built to beat the Seahawks. You know, when Sean McVeigh took over Seahawks for King of the world, you know, so you're gonna build your team the way how we gonna win our division and that was, you know priority number one. So really on the field player for player, they match up well with them and then The defense for the Rams. You know just what they do to the Seahawks. They got a front for that can contain Russell Wilson. They gotta DK Metcalf for Racer and Jalen Ramsey. And I think the big thing is just to focus on the Seahawks like you're saying. They need another idea Guy on the offensive side of the ball. I like Brian Schottenheimer, but it's like maybe, like I would say with great Roman in Baltimore, I might be one of those things where you go. We need to bring a passing game coordinator in here. Just infuse a few more ideas and things into our office because, as you see it's very stale, and teams really caught on to it the last four or five weeks of the year. How should Washington fans feel today? Um, that their organizations going in the right direction. There's a lot to be excited about. I don't think, Taylor Hi. Nikki is going to be the future of the franchise. But either way that was amazing with what the hell we saw the other night. I mean, right? I don't know. I just kept going. All right. Here comes the blowout. What he did. Whoa! Unbelievable. All right, here comes a blowout. And then he'd pull out another unbelievable football play, but between that defense I know some of the guys they got all over there, You know, even in the secondary, they got a good offensive line. They got a star receiver and Terry McLaurin. Antonio Gibson, who was playing hurt here at the end of the years are really damn good running Baghdad. They're a team I would say like They get this quarterback situation figured out. Watch out for Washington and 2021. What happened to the Titans? The Titans ran into a healthy Baltimore Ravens defense. The first time they played there was no Brandon Williams or class Campbell. They dominated the line of scrimmage. The Ravens defensive line Brandon Williams, class Campbell, Matt Judah, and they kicked butt and I think the rookie linebackers they have impact your queen and the leak. Harrison too. You know the fact that they got to see Tennessee earlier, I think helped them how to defend the run game and what to do properly. There was really a big thing. And then those two corners in the back end the fact that you can rely on them and go. Wait, We gotta stop Derrick Henry. And then we gotta put you guys on the island versus a J. Braddock. Corey Davis know that that Z special defensive unit and of course you know that offense for the Baltimore Ravens and their physicality and Lamar Dan? They just throw it just enough like we saw yesterday with Hollywood Brown outside the numbers and just attack that part of the field where defense's have to defend it. It's going to help their offense out big time. It's gonna open up the running lanes and everything like that. I thought that was one of the underrated aspects of the game yesterday. Guess I should mention the bears to be professional. I guess the one question I have is, you know what do you do with Mitchell? True biscuit? I feel like.

Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Indianapolis Colts this weekend
"Look the american football conference. The playoffs are not intact as of yet the steelers just a few weeks ago where the number one seed in the american football conference now. They are the number three seed after three straight losses. Look this team yes. They are in the playoffs. But they are fighting for momentum redemption and seating. And it's very important that they take care of their own business by beating the indianapolis colts which is going to be a tough task. The colts are coming in at ten and four. They ride a fantastic defense behind a forest buckner and also darius leonard and very capable offense as well led by the old wily veteran by the name of philip rivers. Yes they know him. They have been around him a lot in the last seventeen seasons and rivers has faced off against ben roethlisberger as well remember he was the guy who was supposed to go to the steelers and number eleven but ben roethlisberger was picked instead because he went earlier on to the new york giants and then was promptly traded to the sago charters. Thank you ally manning for refusing the play in san diego. You're whiny ways really helped pave the way for to super bowl champions in the pittsburgh steelers in that era.

Steelers’ Perfect Season Comes to an End With Loss to Washington
"Or game tonight. The undefeated steelers hosting the washington. Football team ben. Roethlisberger and alex smith go and head to head. Second quarter all steelers early. James washington to catch the steelers while received some of the best in the business with run out the catch all been has to get the ball in their hands. They know exactly what to do with it. Fourteen nothing pittsburgh. Meanwhile from the comeback player of the year alex smith. That's the last thing we want to see bleeding profusely after being cleared. It's the other leg to quick nap. Critical moment final seconds of the first half of the clock. Ticking down. Alex smith getting sacked on a third-down play. No timeouts left the trying to run the field goal team out but the clock is going to be stopped by the officials and this may have been sneaky from alex smith. this sneaky. good better and move by. Alex realized that he doesn't have any time outs left and if they used the ball in play to probably not going to be able to get the feel law so retards off with the football. They got to stop the clock in the points. Before the you take a look. Ron rivera's yelling everybody's yelling but we're going to show it to you here. Watch alex smith again. Sneaky veteran move the official saying. Give me the ball. Alex smith is saying. I got other ideas. He takes that one himself. They have to look. He's laughing he knows. Exactly what is doing common knows what he's doing and in the end it results in three medical points. Dustin hopkins forty nine yards. It's up it's good. Fourteen three at the have a little momentum shift now oakland drive of the third smith. Watch cam simms. This might have been the biggest play for the washington football team in this game. And don't just take my word for mike. Tomlin talked about this after the game. Felt like he was a real turning point thirty yards on the catch and run a big first down in that would lead to this. How about logan thomas to the one converted quarterback out of college logan thomas with some great hands being able to get down to the one he's really turned into a professional title. They were punching in premier. So fourteen steelers fourth quarter at seventeen ten at smith. It's thomas wide open worldwide. That's a busted covers right there but don't fault the waas to football team alex smith to taking advantage of the miscues by the steelers. So we're all even now the steelers of a fourth and one on the twenty eighth. They're kick chris. Boswell is out the rookie. Matt right is there. And so mike tomlin elects to go for it a throw was to anthony mcfarland his miscue there and the washington football team takes over on downs and that leads to. This happened this catch. This is a big time catch right here by camps and being able to survive the ground one handed grab pressure situation. Can't do it any better than that. That's a big first down later in the drive. Dustin hopkins from forty five away at the first looks. It's going to hook but then it hangs and it's good to washington up twenty two seventeen but mike tomlin had used his timeouts. Well they will going to have plenty of time. But there's no time when this happens a no deflections your the game washington. Football team's defensive line. Pittsburgh Steelers take their unbeaten record and face Washington, DC's Football Team at home on Monday
"The Washington football team getting set for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. Five o'clock injury report looks pretty good. The unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers pose a big challenge for Chase Young and that defense, especially quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who likes to get rid of that football pretty quick. We'll have to, you know. Get our hands up. Um, you know, because he does have to get the ball over a fast and you know, in the times that he does hold it. I feel like we're just gonna have to take advantage of those times and, you know, try to

Pay the price if they sit in zone in rush for Then i think cincinnati is gonna be in this game you know. They'll make it hard on but they have to attack the weakness of the team which to me offensive line. Yeah patriots taken on the ravens. That'll be in new england. Baltimore shouldn't have an issue. A good good win. Good win for the patriots and for cam buying the getting that one on monday night minnesota go into chicago. Three and five five and four. We talk about dalvin. Cook running the ball very well. I can t t chicago's also one of those teams. I can't call mike. You never know what you're going to get you know. The the quarterback position was hurt them. So bad right now and they consistency. And i don't know what they're trying to do offensively at times With the playcaller who is a head coach They gotta get him in rhythm and get him gone Defensively this'll be hard for the vikings because at the chicago is against rush. Now that i have a good plan. They've got good people up stuff you in run game so if the vikings can get the running game going on there's just no way i think chicago beat them but if they stop the run then you know then i think that They got real chance but it is. It'll be hard for chicago near the winning record here in the vikings are on the men right now. If i'm gonna pick attend the vikings clearly to near gonna beat chicago but you never now. Yeah they feel like in look like they have the momentum they do so..

"They had a lot of energy something. They're flying around making plays any tackled better than they've tackled in three. Yeah that was weird. I wonder where that came from. Whether tackling in you know when you make a change like that the defense is so diametrically opposed to what they were a year ago a penetrating front. This read all that kind of stuff. So the guys were fighting it fighting. It wants there's a buy in in understand it and they're trying to execute it the way you want it done then then. A changes nanji changes. I kind of think that's a little bit that's happened there plus having the linebacker back as a huge deal. Yeah that's right. Yeah that that helps. Definitely the dolphins and cardinals. Close game two really good quarterbacks. I didn't know if i was watching an nfl game or an old college game. like oklahoma in alabama. Well a tool was really for his second start of blown away. I thought he played exceptionally well. And you can see why. They took him away when they did i. I was skeptical of the change like we talked about last week but boy he sure proved me wrong. He came out. I thought he was excellent. Yeah yeah and you know. Everybody has questions about his hip. And and that's still there. We'll see how that goes but he made a couple of cuts that told me well for now that hip is is doing well and they're and three cardinals are five and three. You know it's good to see too young quarterbacks onto teams that are that are trying to improve. And they're they're hanging in there. They're doing well in in the fight yet. They're both real good teams. You know there defensively. The cardinals are way better than i thought they'd be That's been surprised. Plus her russian. The ball extremely well all that stuff which is hard to do my hats off to them before we leave and go onto the upcoming games. That bills seahawks matchup. Is that possibly a super bowl preview. I know that the chiefs have something to say about in buffalo gonna have to go through kansas city. Most likely but i think that's the key game of the year will be you know they. Afc championship. i think we'll probably be those guys in pittsburgh you know i just think the chiefs they kill his he'll forms defense Do but mahomes can overcome just about anything it'll be it'll be hard for you. Got to contain him. Just like Russell wilson they got to because it didn't let him get outside the pocket. You know a is a shorter guiding when you don't let him outside and create then it's hard for them and that's kind of what happened to him yeah fighting. I think that could very well be the case. Absolutely right so looking ahead to next week. Eagles giants the nfc. He's three four and one eagles into and seven giants. I can't i can never. I can never predict what's going to happen when nfc teams play. These well i thought jones For the quarterback played his best game last week He didn't hurt them. He made good plays more accurate than they did. A little bit more of the up or quicker throws with him. But i think the giants are dangerous. Because they're getting better every week. Are they good enough..

"He's got this game and it was almost like they were all reading off of a script that says losing football game. Because everything just kind of lined up and it's funny mike you you know. And here's one. I was going to throw it at. You was a point. I know we're talking about a college game. But there was a point where they lined up for alonside kick. And i'm thinking now in arizona state's got to receive. The onside kick is at a time to call timeout. If you're the receiving team you know people like the ice the kicker some time on a long ago but is there such thing as icing the kicker when he's about to attempt an onside kick no. I've done several times. Just for the alignment. So especially alignment exactly the alignment and how the kickers lined up and making sure. Everybody's where they need to be so once you see that in the players on the field alignment then you call them over and you can talk them through any changes or potential adjustments that you wanna make you know so yeah. That's not unusual. I think it's a good thing you know. And that was such a weird guy did a great job. The kicker did a great job with a carrot did a little squib kick where there lay the ball flat. That doesn't work. The work is when you kick the top out. The ball bounces twice in the third bouncing goes way up in the air. I agree one hundred percent. I'm so sick of hearing about that. Watermelon kick. i would love for someone to kick one like that. I'll take that all day but that one like you're talking about that gives you that that that one hopper and then another one and you don't know that other ones are going to be ones that we've we've gotten a number of those. All wilkins was really good at it. And when he hit beautifully we got him because what we would do. We put our best jumpers over there and they'd run down and they you know they go up in the highpoint like a basketball rebound and those are the ones that And they're hard. They're hard to catch on the other end of too. Because you know you're gonna get splattered you know you know you're gonna get splattered no matter. How many block and all that stuff they come down they just blow you up so You know we used to work on that a lot. I'll tell you another thing we used to work on is bloop kicks so it's not an onside inside deep kick you know in the half mile up there. We used to work on trying to drop it in like a chip shot. You know a at about twenty hours from the point that you kick it. Just drop it in. Let it bounce back then and scrambled back there. We'd se when arizona state. on one of those. You know we we ran down. There ended up getting it. And it's it's a nightmare to return. If you get a kicker who is really good at but you have to work at that. It's not an easy thing to do it. We thought at one point. Because you could use your punter. You can use any kicker on to kick the ball can you punt the ball. Does it have to come off. T i should good question. I should know that. But i i think he had to kick it..

"This is an unusual world. It's an unusual time I had to, unfortunately, spend time in the first hour. Telling you about Big Ben Roethlisberger being placed on the the covert Reserve list. A few hours ago, the New York Knicks announced that AH, several players on their staff have tested positive for covert none of the players, but they now have two Temporarily shut down their facility. As the N B A and and the players have agreed to a re start on December 22nd. We have several games in the SEC that are pretty much done for this weekend. Postpone the NFL. They're saying, Hey, if we have to cancel games, especially as we get later in the season Yeah, we'll go to a 16 team pole season. That's just let everybody and their mama into the playoffs this year. So it's It's been an interesting day in sports. There's no doubt about that right before we went to break. Besides Ben Roethlisberger, we spoke about Cam Newton. And ah, injust longevity. 31 years old. He's getting knocked around. The New England Patriots are looking for a little bit of life, especially after beating the New York Jets last night and then I got to take on the Ravens. So nothing is coming easy for anybody in the world of sports, Not at all. And a man in particular who has had just I don't even want to call it a rough week. It's only Tuesday. I know we're moving into a Wednesday in a few hours, but it's been a rough week. For Tom Brady. It was a rough night for Tom Brady as they were embarrassed. The Buccaneers were 38 23. They were down 21 to nothing. The field goal that they got is basically a gift. It doesn't matter. They could have been shut out for we know one for all we care. And Tom Brady, someone who at 43 years old I will still consider this An M V p quality season. I mean that the guy at this point, Tom Brady is His own pace. For about, you know, 20 not even 26 4600 yards passing. He is on pace right now for about 35 to 40 touchdowns. He's on pace. For about 12 or so interceptions. But this is the reality. For Tom Brady. This man has looked like an M v. P, but he has looked like a mere mortal. He's looked like a bad quarterback, Dammit! He has looked like Let me see who cannot put here. What name cannot put here. That's embarrassing. He's looked like Jamis Winston. Against a new world and saints. Tom Brady has seven interceptions on the year. Five of those interceptions have come against the Saints. And it's basically bookends the last game in the first game of the season. This hasn't been kind. It hasn't been nice for Tom Brady. We open up the season. It was just like, Oh, wow, The the Buccaneers. They just lost to the Saints. Ugly fashion 34 to 23. Tom Brady goes out gives you two touchdowns also gives you two interceptions. Oh, this might not work for Tom Brady and Sample Bay. And you have this past Sunday What Tom Brady goes out there and they totally get smacked and stopped. Tom Brady, he gives you three I nt is it doesn't matter how they happen. Where they came from. They got smacked. They lost. This guys is red on the sideline. He's pissed. He's Maddie slamming helmets, and he just looked angry. He's stolen. And he should. I don't think you win six Super Bowls. I don't think you have the success that he's had over the past 20 years unless you actually care about what happens on the field. We got a lot of NFL players who just show up to collect the cheque, and I'm sorry, and that's the case across sports. It's no different. We got a lot of people who get up and go through life and just go through the motions just to get by. Just because they're able to do it, and it's what's there. They make the money. Sports is no different. We got some lollygag hours. We've got some guys who were just like, Oh, well, I can I can run fast or I can jump where I can hit a ball or I can catch one and models will take the money. I could tell us what happens. And then we got guys were actually winners. People want to go all the way. And that's what Tom Brady is. He's not someone who is complacent by showing up. He's not someone who's happy to go out there and just get a check. You don't play a game that your career can end on any play. You don't play that at 43 years old, just because you know you don't want to sit at home with your wife and kids. He could be at home with his wife and kids, but he loves the game that he plays. He is a competitors. He's the most successful quarterback in NFL history. If he didn't want to do this. If he wasn't passionate, he wouldn't be out there. So I got to get some great Tom Brady credit in that regard, and this is coming from a guy meet. Personally, I am sick and tired of looking at Tom Brady. I want to see more of the younger quarterbacks I enjoy and respect everything that he's done. I think it's amazing to watch and play and I'll enjoy every minute. But from a personal fan perspective is just like, Jeez, man. Just go away, please. You want Give somebody else a chance..

"I can't even call it the prom time match up because it's going to take place at 1 P.m. eastern time. Is going to take place at 10 o'clock in the morning on the West Coast. Talking about the Ravens. I'm talking about the Steelers. The 25th matchup between Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh. Before we went to break. I told you Here in 2020 Lamar Jackson, and it might be exciting. He might be the reigning MVP, but I could look at a 38 year old Ben Roethlisberger. And if you said, Hey, I need you to win one game if you need another one of these cubes. I helped deliver you that w Who would it be? I'm still going with Ben Roethlisberger. And I think Ben Rapolas Burger and a steel is between that defense between that arm between those new receiving options that he has God's like Claypool that Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers they have another title run. In them. Open up the phone lines to you to ask that same question. Okay. But before I hit the phones, you gotta hear what Mike Tomlin said that Steel is a six to know getting ready to take on the Ravens. And even though they're undefeated, this is what Mike Tomlin had to say about what they need to do to improve. I think we just don't enough to get out of stadiums and I, you know, um, you know, we desire to play better out, obviously, but I'm thankful that we got enough competitive spirit that we believe in each other enough that Enough guys want to be the reason why we're successful that we could make enough plays to persevere. Sometimes in the midst of adversity, sometimes in the mist of diversity that we create. Um I don't think any of us when I say I'm talking about any of us in the National Football League. Probably view ourselves. It's finished products. At this point. I think our perspective on where we are is probably not a lot different than the 31. Others were all working weekend a week out trying to win that particular game, but also Understanding that we need to get better in the process because significant, you know, challenges usually lie here. Well, this Sunday is a significant challenge You take on the Ravens. They've been beaten the hell out of each other for years. Now, the phone lines. I told you our open. "ESPN radio as princess. See, the Eastern one said You've got that. Look, you have Pittsburgh feels I'm talking to you. I know it's very easy to fall in love at what they did on Sunday versus Cleveland Browns, But they've been doing this all year long with that defense and that offense even yesterday because Cleveland has not beaten Pittsburgh since been Rafa's birds play for that organization in Pittsburgh has never happened. Mike Thomas told me how proud his team is. And how probably is office team, especially being undefeated, wanted a few in the NFL and I was varsity ball today stepped up his step a big, really kind of all across the board and met a challenge versus very good and A team that was very hot. Can't say enough about the efforts of our guys. Part of being good in this league is identifying problems and eliminate them Hopefully before they happen, But once they happen, you get eliminate him quickly. We acknowledge that third down was an issue force last week. Defensively, I thought the answer that challenge well and emphatically. Today I was necessary to slow down a dangerous Brown's attack. One that had been ringing up a bunch of points up her game. Just can't say enough about the efforts, though all the way around in all three phases of the game. Appreciative, and now we transition our attention toward about Oasis in Tennessee. Yeah, I can't wait to see Stills vs Tennessee in Nashville will be people in the building a little bit. They might let a little bit more people in the building. Support Tennessee But steals fans will be there as well. They have all the tools that you want an elite defense like a middle to fill the McNasty defense of anti J one on one side, but to pray the other Here's the deal. I think this offense could get even scarier. The more they keep involving Chase Claypool, making that things better for Ben Roethlisberger. And that running game led by James Connor and many snow Junior. It's the second round draft pick two. How did that guy fall in the second round? My Thomas said. Name? No. Yes, end of broadcast on wide. And how long did it take for you? To get the card when Chase Claypool's still available second round, he said, Well, TV had the weight, but we're up there in 10 seconds. You couldn't believe he was still there. I need you to do it during the draft. Talked about that, like 10 and bomb. I mean, everybody, you know, I mean, sorry. We're all like, Wait, Wait. How is this young man still on the board and you? You're seeing what a lot of people missed on is one Remarkable character, but all he does is catch the football and make plays. But to me, it starts with a quarterback and Ben Roethlisberger. He looks like, you know, an old school bent right now. The arm everyone was wondering, including myself. How is he going to come back from significant elbow surgery and he looks like old school Ben are Plus you have a running game with James Connolly one for 100 yards again. Blake Snell is a great change of pace for James Connor. But you go to that defence. That's the attitude of this football team. From the two guys. You mentioned toe Hayward to make up. It's Patrick. They are on seek and destroy. And yesterday they destroyed anything in a Cleveland uniform. It was dominating and a team that does the exact same thing we're talking about. In the place of the scene. Kind of attitude. The team they're gonna play next week in Tennessee, That is must see you. You know you have all your chores done. Get the honey do list out of the way Early Change the baby's diapers, mow the lawn. Whatever you've got to do, you're gonna want to watch this football game. But that's gonna be a one o'clock eastern time on CBS and even Pittsburgh knows kind of vision that they ran because it's always going to be about them in a Baltimore Ravens. So you're looking at pissed, but think you know what we're going to deal with that team. They're gonna have almost a clone and a different kind of way When it comes to Tennessee, Tennessee very star money in football. They got a quarterback that can make something of the Lamar Jackson has been missing from Thursday. If a Baltimore but yet they're five and one. We could be a lot worse without jobs like that team is still gonna be five in one Adjust the attitude they play with. They were not playing around with Cleveland and play around anybody this year. They have gotten after people that defense that defensive gotten better week after week after week. They have that look in my opinion about a team that not only can challenge but get to a suitable and win it with this US team. They could complain anybody yesterday. And that defense, I think would have looked like that against any by the way to play yesterday. What was the last time Freddie? You and I talked about all of these teams and you know a big focal point about their attitude. And what they do as as a unit. Been about defense. I thought we talked about the Bears decide about the bucks. We talked about the Steelers. We talked about the Titans. We talked about the Ravens. Everything with these teams. Those are some of the best in the league. I mean, what quarterback you get? You ain't got a shot. If you don't have a quarterback, that's a given. But the attitude of the team that bleeds into everything else starts on the defense of South a ball for those teams. We just mentioned Fitzsimmons on Freddie Coleman and Freddy and Fitz Simmons. Khalil Mack in one Miller. so I don't think it's any guarantee that Ben Roethlisberger comes back in is doesn't miss a beat next year and now you have Eli he's done right unless Daniel Jones is even worse. and then you're gonna put that genie back in the bottle. so you eyes done and here we are and I look this up not only is Philip rivers the last. quarterback standing from the for draft he is the last man standing. go through that draft. he's the only first round pick that is healthy and gainfully employed by the NFL. so we talk about Brady right like what's give a little credit here. to Philip rivers that he has been able to outlast all of his peers and I think I know the reason why he has it it has to do with his. healthy I'm shall we say re populating of the earth I feel like with all the kids that Philip rivers has that is kept him young. where is all of us have like one or two kids and the agents horribly. but with Philip rivers it keeps them young but seriously look at that for draft in the fact that Philip rivers looks like he's not ending anytime soon. pretty crazy. you think about two eight six zero zero four six some of you have thoughts on the biggest issue facing the Broncos through two weeks of the season and I think I found the answer for what the football team that Troy Calhoun like so much eight years ago so we'll do that next here on.

"The jets Ben Roethlisberger out for the season drew Brees done for about six weeks and the Texas man with a bizarre Starbucks obsession that story in about twenty minutes. sign up for a business update that it's brought to you by the Michigan economic development corporation the businesses of the future are being built today and Michigan is where they start learn more by searching Michigan your opportunity a new report from C. N. B. C. says work stress and burnout are reaching epidemic levels in this country the yearly cost of the US economy has been estimated at three hundred billion dollars what can we do better as companies and employees we're joined now by Joe Larin general partner with a group called the conscious business institute he's based in New Jersey Joe how do you see this one fact that just couldn't escape me was you know I wanted to work every day and got the company tried his best to engage me but I would still rather be somewhere else than where I was and as I looked around my colleagues and people that work with me and and. and then people outside of work everyone's just doing something that they would rather not be doing and it given the financial burden to do so they would meet tomorrow and this to me gave me this picture right wow we spend our whole lives be working the thing we do the most engaging activity that we would rather just not be doing so this is not necessarily also as employees becoming accessible twenty four seven to a manager or something this is just lack of engagement or inspiration at the workplace. yeah yeah so it's really a round the human need court and it is the way that I've come to understand it worked as a really good job of meeting one court you may need a higher need for stability and security and everything around the financial aspect of it you come here we give you a check and give you benefits and the core fundamental way for you with that well one of the areas that companies are not really doing a good job of covering even if you have a great manager and you have you know good work life balance and and things like that with some computer trying to do better route they're always should the need that we either do you believe the logical and emotional that we only have been into so our our need to. that's our selves is not and a lot of us are in jobs that aren't related to a natural gifts and talents and part of our natural state actually do things we don't even Barnes over the course of a lifetime are we tend to take a career that made sense you know well meaning parent teacher mentor kind of died in this in this direction and it will become experts in this year we can become pigeon holed we never actually four weeks plus we are rather revision that someone on our younger selves. that's making a lifestyle and then do you know the need for the vision and making a contribution and the need for human connection. I mean for you. they're all individual needs that organizations aren't providing for us today and no good manager and you know no good culture with the cation time and perks and you know. the office is gonna make a pretty deep psychological and emotional need that we all have as human beat files we're speaking with Joe are in general he's a partner with the conscious business institute we're talking about avoiding a culture of burn out at the workplace what can companies do better and perhaps what can we do better as employees at these places. in ruling the we break it out it is great to have both systemic and it's with the companies and also individual with individual deans can do to promote investment advice mentioned the problems the needs and actually bring that in your business model and greeting or sold on how you're coming across in terms of those areas so we can help you profit margins as the main way of measuring other programming really bring in those areas of functional human no livelihood and inspiration one quick way to do it there's nothing that organizations can do company these days are really put a lot of stock in meaning and you know getting back to the right of being ability environment creating teams and and promoting people within the company that faster support and care and those type of things I've been more inclusive the really would have to happen to have to start bringing into the action of the company so companies tend to do out in the light of day when everyone is watching and when they're you know putting stuff on the website on linkedin and marketing it's all about those things with them behind closed doors that Monday morning meeting it's a much different operating you really can't have a double talking when you do that we do have a double profit from the truck the dot and then any mission if you want to run you know the the closest anything can that be insensitive or the motivation and when you say other than that you know they were you know actual from an individual point of view you know this is really around certain things you can do and then certain things you have to think about the mindset is Joe Joe learned Geral partner with a group called the conscious business institute it's twenty minutes now in front of the hour on this morning America's first news..

"B. was not able to handle it the same way you out that's Kim I'm not sure so even the apologies from Ben Roethlisberger are equivocal well you know I feel bad that I did that thing that that guy did a white but I did the same thing to someone else and he thanked me for it so what the hell in a my problem it's his problem that's basically Roethlisberger saying sometimes better to say nothing an A. B. Woodbine any of it he tweeted yesterday never friends just had to get my ends shut up already that was in response to the the Ben Roethlisberger comment that tweet was later deleted it was so Antonio brown realizing there's a point we just gonna let this go you just calico the Steelers have to let it go he has to let it go just like go B. J. with the giants every time beach it's like Kramer's vow silence starting now and it continues I have a feeling that we jail we talk about the giants at some point during the regular season I have a feeling that Antonio brown will be talking about the Steelers at some point during the regular seasons I have I have a feeling that the Steelers are we talking about him at some point during the regular season and if the giants for the Browns or the Steelers or the raiders in the post season or some combination of those four we're gonna be here in about a ten to it's interesting it adds all spice to the game but there is a point we just wanted to end and book James Washington is it going to complain about getting called out by the quarterback James Washington was a rookie Antonio brown one to complain about it in two thousand ten you want the football she you want the quarterback to like you when you're not get established and this applies to any organization think of it this way you're the new guy the boss calls you out our system trying to put your nose up the bosses but for lack of a better phrase I stopped I paused I tried to think of when I couldn't so I I went with my first stop you try to prove yourself to everyone you want the boss to trust you thank you Sir may I have another once you're established and you've been hearing the same thing from the boss for all these years and you get sick of it here it comes again that same old routine call me out and busted my **** yeah appreciate me although somebody else will appreciate me I show what I can do boss you to start this crap again I'll go somewhere else that's the difference and if your perverse the roles James Washington would have been upset if he was the established veteran player shown over and over again what he can do and Antonio brown would have taken it if he was the rookie and what's astounding to me is Ben Roethlisberger apparently enable figure that out unless he is just groping and grasping for any way he can to justify and make conditional his sense of regret by Ruth for a really bad about that thing that I said about Antonio brown the impact it had on our friendship but I said the same thing the other guy and he was happy about it so screw a B. it's like the the better off as per her internal monologue playing out for us all to to a a paper and please keep doing the weekly radio thing on ninety three seven the fan in Pittsburgh I I have yet to see a final decision from band please keep doing it it's good for us it's good for us for the sports not good for you per se but that's okay you'll find a way to justify it keep thinking keep keep keep working on on the the those various reasons why you come up with something that will be plausible at least to you it may not be plausible rest of us but we like the contents so please please please band keep doing it I look forward to Tuesday mornings with Ben Roethlisberger because he got a license to call out James Washington if I got a license gaudy on teh Johnson he's the rookie this year he'll take a Dante Moncrief he's trying to establish himself column all out just oncology usually Shuster you reply with a B. next year in Las Vegas not a B. would be happy about that would not be the best if you just miss Schuster an internal brown end up on the same team again at some point our Hey in only eight days will have real football to talk about but the one thing we know about football season once you get started the pressure goes up the chances of guys saying things that maybe they shouldn't say in reacting to those things it it increases each one of those games so important to your effort to try to get to the playoffs that's the beauty of only sixteen games maybe that's why they should only have sixteen games there are some who think they should go back to fourteen games could you imagine that think about how much each and every game would mean if there were only fourteen so it's coming in eight days the first of two hundred fifty six NFL regular season games gets played in and three days later all hell breaks loose with the first full Sunday and off we go into a quick break one return some of the statistics are in on replay review of pass interference so far this preseason I got a couple of observations as I'm trying to work my way through anger to now bargaining depression and acceptance and the reality is we need to accept it because nothing is changing for the start of the season now it may change once the season gets started we pay attention to what's happening but for now we're rolling into the season with some important points to keep in mind especially if you're on the sideline with a red flag that you're considering whether or not to use will discuss all that would have to live continues right after this.

"So I decided to make my list of teams that can win the Superbowl thirteen of the thirty two it's cheese Chargers brown's colts Texans eagles ram Seahawks bears Packers falcon saints that's the list sorry Viking sorry cowboys out sorry raven sorry Steelers that's the list those of the thirteen teams that can make this a real I gave you my reasons as to why in the last segment now you guys get to tell me why I'm wrong who should be on who should not be David in Sacramento died of a five five two one two four CDS what's up David what do I have right what do I have wrong well everyone keeps trying to especially your data first off thank you for having me on the show you're welcome quick the Steelers deserve to be on your list first of all San Diego there's no way you're going to tell me that Philip rivers is the better quarterback than Ben Roethlisberger secondly he and you look up right they've got no running game our defense is still suspect wait I work was sacked Weston Ben Roethlisberger last year I'm almost positive Andrew luck is one of the least sect quarterbacks in the NFL error on on or you may want to go back and and and take a look at that also they've been our office burgers probably gonna throw at least a third you were sacked because the doctor and we try to force the ball looks you Antonio brown so I think the Steelers offense is going to be better the Steelers defense is going to be better and we also played in the AFC north I think we're gonna have the forces to be able to make the playoffs and actually make some noise in January and potentially said I think your list is wrong alright listen I I appreciate the call but hold on with me don't before you hang up Ben Roethlisberger threw for fewer touchdowns more interceptions and was sacked six more times than Andrew luck last year two four how do for what Ben Roethlisberger three for fewer touchdowns more interceptions and was sacked six more times than Andrew luck last year okay I stand corrected but I still stand by my by my my call I don't know I just I I I I appreciate you could stand by whatever you want but Andrew luck had a monster last year now frankly sort of big bat brother's murder led the NFL in passing in terms of yards he had more than two to one touchdown interception ratio completed sixty seven percent of his passes but it was also a quantity year he threw the ball more than anybody else in the NFL by a considerable margin you're the ball six hundred and seventy to seventy five times Andrew luck threw at six thirty nine and some luck completed a slightly higher percentage was passes albeit for six hundred fewer yards but add five more touchdowns one fewer interception and was sacked like I said six last times now if you want to go down to Philip rivers rivers said for fewer interceptions then big ban completed a higher percentage of his passes had higher yards per attempts and had two fewer touchdowns and I believe played all sixteen games last season but I will pull that up just to be sure yeah I played in all sixteen games also last season Roethlisberger had a monster year but remember no levy on bell no Antonio brown and obviously didn't have bell last year he's got you just miss Schuster and you could argue addition by subtraction if you want to in the locker room I just want I wouldn't you don't replace those types of talents in terms of production and Cedeno sort of drop off more people want to call me crazy and put in teams on my Superbowl list that I don't have we will do that and I will continue to expand on why I absolutely loathe NFL training camps even though in about seven hours I'll be driving to one do my radio show we get into that coming up but first mark ability of the sports update.
