"You know my main stamping passports with denied it for migrants coming into the country asylum applications, and it was in that meeting that the idea of family separation again came up, and it was soon forced out into the public by by Julia Ainsley. Who I mentioned Ben John Kelly confirmed it on CNN, talking to Wolf Blitzer, and after a really brief public outrage in the early days of the administration. They didn't talk about it again until it exploded in the spring of two thousand eighteen, but all along they were working on this, and in El Paso they had a pilot program and those seven hundred children. The CAITLIN dickerson reported on or being separated despite the fact that the administration said they pulled back from the policy, and just to put a really fine point on it. Nobody's ever done with the trump administration did it was deliberate? It was just a matic detail very extensively in the book, and that's despite the best efforts of people trying to stop it from within the government, and so to be clear my understanding is that win the Obama administration would separate children from their parents. It was a function of the parent having committed a a crime beyond to the extent that it's you know it's a civil offense, but a a crime beyond crossing the border but had to do with like if they were in possession of. Of Drugs or if there was some type of abuse that was going on, whereas and like you say, it was entertained in the situation room as a method of deterrence, like hey, things are going to be so horrible for to take children away. Don't come here and that's what was ultimately adopted by the trump administration. There was a Mac nations involved in in criminalizing going across the border in slightly different ways, so that there was sort of a legal apparatus which this was done, but so i WanNa talk about this because this part about. Right about the reporting that you have of celebration I mean to me. That's seems indicative of a cultural problem at the the you know. At the, Customs Border Patrol a that that that seems a little problematic I mean. I guess we want people to be excited about their job, but it's not necessarily. People think that their job is just to keep immigrants out Maybe that's a problem. Don't forget you know and I write about this in the book. The only time I've ever come face to face with Stephen Miller was in Colorado ballroom during the primaries in two thousand, sixteen and. you know their whole campaign was to end. Catch and release the active releasing asylum-seeking. Families into the interior of the country as they await their immigration proceedings, and this was the this was the dream scenario for the right wing, ideological folks in the administration and some of the career folks in law enforcement. And I should say like I've met many compassionate caring. line agents from the Border Patrol customs and Border Protection officials at the ports of entry, and officials up and down the chain of command, and many of them spoke out to me. also from from hhs about what they saw as the cruelty of this policy, but there were people, and it's no secret that you know they. They were ideologically aligned with Stephen Miller who really want us to happen and push from the earliest days and they they obviously obviously were successful. That's that's what we're with. This boils down to. Is They? Pro I mean we should've seen it coming. They promised it. The president talked about it. On the stage at the Republican National Convention they stood there in the middle of Texas delegation. With surrounded by people wearing cowboy hats, and it just didn't occur to me and that's where that's why I write about this from a personal perspective. I missed it too right like I ended up being one of the journalists who documented this first hand, and saw the conditions with my own eyes yet. The fact that it happened, and the fact that the fact that I couldn't believe what I was seeing with. My own eyes is in some measure, my own false, because this was laid out this was laid out very clearly, and only by going back and digging deeper and learning about the meaning you talk about and many other subsequent. You know key inflection points. Did I learn? How premeditated! This was and not only I used to say there's no plan to reunite. There was no plan to separate. I was wrong. There were plans to reunite. They were just rejected. passed over ignored by the trump administration. Who wanted to do this so badly? They push it into existence without waiting for a mechanism to be able to even put children and parents back together if and when the policy was ended. Right so let's talk about some of those inflection points you mentioned that the that it is revived? You know early in seventeen as an idea. Kelly has to admit it. People assume it goes away. What happens with that policy after that? Like what is the How does it wind its way back into actually being executed? It starts with that pilot program. That's right and and this was in the El Paso sector of the Border Patrol, obviously directly across the border from Dot Juarez And they began separating in the summer of twenty seventeen and were it not the reporting of Loamy, Kriel, who I mentioned from the Houston Chronicle this would have never surfaced but when it did service it was, it was basically quickly shut down by Kevin mcelwain, and then I, write about this you know, and have the emails between him and or job as Carlo Provost Keyboard patrol officials flagging that this was coming out in reporting and the newspaper articles and they decided to stop it and..

"Books, John and anything new in the in the writing department. Are you still doing your country squire thing pretty much all the time? Quite yet. Kind of busy trying to get the old place back into shape because you are, you know, that's that's taking the priority now but in the future, I think I'll start getting back on track. And I do as you have set before I contribute to the rich line dot com website where I answered questions that ask the plant, Dr so folks can get in touch with me if they can't get through today at that website and just go to Richland dot com and go to the section that says asked the plant, Dr. Very good. We I know a lot of people do take advantage of that. Let's go back to the phones. John and talk to Ben and Aurora Ben good morning. Thank you for waiting. You're on the air. Hi. Super super shy. Learn something new every week. Oh, well, that's very kind of you. I appreciate your calling in today. Can John help you this morning? Ben John, I asked him this question, and I'm not doubting. He told me, but I, I realize every four to five weeks and I'm sold on rich Lon perfectly, and I only used iron one time a year should I be using it, every time or not? Well, actually. You use the fertilizer that has in it, there's maybe only between two to four percent iron in a fertilizer, you, you can use it at each fertilizing that supplements, your needs for that lawn, so you don't have to use a separate supplement unless LSU fertilizer does not contain iron. Exactly what I told him. John, you'll be happy to know I've been a student of yours. So I've learned from, you also, of course, is isn't it true even lawn? Let alone flowers and principles and bushes. And so on if in trees, if things start to turn yellow need iron is that still true with, with a lawn? John. Generally the case with lawns particularly if you see the yellowy, but yellow leaves does not always mean that gets an iron deficiency. There could be other factors involved thirds apple on a tree, or shrub. If you have yellow leaves that come on suddenly it'd be a sign that there's over watery and the roots are suffering from lack of oxygen in the soil. It could also be drought symptom. So that's why it's important to know a little bit about your plants symptoms when you're diagnosing problems, but with the Lon yellowy usually an indication that it's an iron deficiency because lives are continually Bo. Then we're you know, we're taking off the leaf blades. They need more nutrients than their past grower. We'll been I think John raised a good point which I didn't Annunciation, and that is the percentage is relatively low. I think the rich line that I use John is four percent, but it's not enough to over iron lawn in my right? Usually, you know, they iron is a very expensive, commodity and fertilizers. And you don't need to put a whole lot in it. Otherwise if you buy it separately. You'll find out that an iron supplement can cost you some, some good dough there to put on the only use it sparingly and the other using John is the rich on turf oud. Okay. And that's fine because that's going to have if you look at the lay the lecture have between two to four percent, depending on the formula that you purchase. Okay. John, thank you so much for your help. Chopped liver. No, you're not. I love you. I'm just teasing Ben. Listen, thank you for your call. I do. Remember your checking in and I'm glad you called back to confirm. Yeah. But I use that iron thing every time and, and my lawn I'm just very proud of it. It's deep green and John. What I find is very few weeds. And I think you've made this point before a healthy lawn will discourage, we'd formation won't it. Well, can I just wanted to, you know, give a sidelight here is that when I listened to your show if I'm out in the field of the morning on Saturdays? I catch part of that. And the way you answer these questions. You very good. In school than I teach it exactly that, you, you can find that if you're following the advice of somewhere that has some common sense like this here, you're gonna get good results in your lawn and garden. So you're on the right track. And I just don't think we need to get caught up in some of the marketing, some of these products. That's what usually what happens and starts to confuse people will John you and I have known each other going on thirty years. So I guess is rubbed off some somehow, I guess, but yeah. Comment on my, my, my comment of, of. I would my lawn is so healthy that I just don't have weeds in it. And is that, that's the case isn't it? If you have a really healthy turf. The grass is, it's it deletes can't compete with that because they can't get started. You're actually shading them out and they can't get started. But if you have been lawn, it's got patches here and there, that's where you get things like crabgrass and spur things like that. So I helped me learn is gonna be more wheat free and disease free as well. Let's talk to listening, conifer, this Elwyn Elwyn frequent caller to the program. I think he's a retired plumber is. I remember. Good morning. Hi you're on the air. Good morning. John and Ken, I live at seventy six hundred feet and I have to apple trees coming up on their fourth year last year, they had one or two apples each this year. They bloom from the bottom of the branch to the top of the branch is there danger of that little apple tree, killing itself by overproducing? No, not Alan, it's, it's not a sign that it's going to overproduce that you may have to go out and do some Denny abbey apples. In other words, go out there as they're about the size of a p or, you know, a marble or whatever and start to send them out so that there's not fight so many you'll be happier because you'll get bigger animals, and the apples will get more sunlight so they ripen better as they get to that process later on in the late summer fall. Right now about them nail size. Do I need fertilizer water like crazy? Dislike typically do water deeply as the soil gets dry, so dig down around them when you see that it's getting dry down about four inches. Just give them a good soaking. About four inches verse three feet around him. Okay. And that's great because that'll help supplement that reduce the, the loss of water from the soil. At Apple's, on to do that some years, they produce heavy and bell rest a year. He'll come back. And so that's difficult. I appreciate you John do great. Thank you very much Ellen for your comb. We're going to stay on schedule and take a break. We have a couple open line. So if you have a gardening lawn question for John, give us a call. He beloved to share his database in his prolific experience that he's, you know, he's, he's been a teacher in an author for I don't know. John, did you start on Denver radio leg in the was it the late seventies early eighties, something like that. In nineteen eighty I was working at the time, in fact with her who was the county agent in Denver. I remember radio guests and he introduced me to radio on KOA at back at those days. So I would guest host with him and fill in, when he was gone, and that's how I got into the business, so to speak. So after about thirty some years of radio, I decided to retire to the western slope, because I did help my family as a raging, and that's where I'm at now. Well, yeah, I remember you and I met in the early nineties when my show started on Lawrence street in and learn near larimer square in Denver. And I'm as been so neat to know you and your resources. I know our audience really appreciates big as I get, as a matter of fact, I got an Email couple of weeks ago seal may have is somewhere wends, John going to be on the program against. I knew time John so. Glad you're with. I enjoy doing this. It's all these fun to kind of keep in touch with the pulse of gardening is doing in the metro area at throughout the state or even in Wyoming, we get calls from there as well. So it's always fun. We cover Wyoming as you. I think, you know, K to fifty thousand watts up in casper and KGB as a nice signal in the Cheyenne Fort Collins, Laremy area. So we cover Wyoming big time. And if you're in Wyoming and wanted mask about lawn and gardening in the cowboy state with John credit, give us a call three zero three.

"Bring these my, my friend John Lynch, I can't take credit doing Ben John very well. So he organizes his amazing trip with professional musicians and local musicians all working conditions and this kid here comes down. He's like Culver you the first time I was I think eighteen fifteen maybe yet like fifteen sixteen right around there. I was I was young and you didn't even the first trip that you didn't bring your guitar. Did you know? Yeah. Right. Didn't have a but you were you were playing music at the time. Yeah. Yeah. So these musicians give guitar and he starts playing along with them. Well, then the next year you would have thought he went to Juilliard or something like that, because he just completely rocks it out. And he has this band. Now. They all have this band the matching shoe and I got to know bend a little bit now. Let me go to Dominic real. Quick here because Dominic was in this studio actually wasn't a student was the old building, and you are, how do you think at the time this is probably eight years ago, maybe eight or nine years ago you alive? And then when I made the connection with these guys like that, that is kind of crazy. So with lunar limitation wasn't it? Yes. Yes. That is that's like one of the incarnations of an early Dan doing. I always talk about that, because that's he would always, sometimes sitting with lunar. And so we would do some gigs together videos. Sometimes sit in with the sages two. How old were you when you had your first band? So that was,.

And she laughs again because it's a funny line, and he has a great sense of humor. But after that the conversation kind of fades away and stops. Because it's time to talk which for me means it's time to talk to a mental health professional. Find Phyllis Phyllis probably about about fifty like, I am because she remembers and forgets a lot of the same things that I do. She looks a lot younger she's tiny and kind of pretty socio cute enough to inspire my fantasies and old enough. So I don't have to feel like midlife crisis cliche. The best of birth both worlds. Really? But the attraction isn't really a physical thing. I just think we make a nice couple. Unlike every other therapists who spirit I'd broken. Phyllis. Always looks happy to see me. And also unlike them, she has human reactions. He's appalled. When I say something appalling like the time I was men's room in a moth, flew out of my pants. Right out through the fly like an empty old purse. And when I say something funny like time the moth, flew out of my pants. She laughs just like my girlfriend and because because we haven't been living together for sixteen years. She always at least pretends to be listening, and you can't expect that from anyone in love with her. But that's okay, because you're supposed to fall in love with your therapist. And I swore to myself and to my girlfriend that I was going to do this. Right. This time. So she started changing our here that was the first thing I noticed and shortly after the hair thing, I noticed that she kind of started losing the little midriff belly Bolger that she had that you can only see once you are certain pants shoes working out. Maybe. Then a little while after that. She she started stop bumping into other patients as walking out of the office. I wasn't avoiding I contact with Mr. handsome with chick lit size cell phone anymore. And that was okay. With me. I didn't think he belonged to therapy. Anyway. After a while, it was just Phyllis and the Saul Steinberg, the graph in the Ben John Graf, and the African carvings from the shark's teeth in the rainforest, white noise machine and me and her place was like my place like our place and now she wants to pour cocktails like we're a couple. Let me just got home from work on wine before dinner. And she asks me do I wanna drink, and I'll say sure, you know, if you're having one, and she says, I know the whole thing is totally unprofessional. But I've been struggling with a way to bring this up. And I know what's coming. I know it's going to be big. And suddenly, I'm terrified. It's like when I took a few flying lessons, and I was really into the whole idea of it. You know, the big green headphones logbook can the flight bag shrink wrapped set of instruction manuals, but I always kind of hope the lesson would be cancelled because of bad weather. Gimme a license but keep that plane away from me. So now, I am kind of nervous about how she's gonna crack open. This whole thing going on between us sit back and let her start. She pours the drinks. She looks at me for a while. And she says I've been sick. I am in the middle, of course of chemotherapy right now. You must have noticed me losing weight. And I can't say anything. I am kind of frozen. I'm shocked scared. And I'm whatever a bigger Ord. Sad is animus shamed. About what I was expecting to happen. And they can't help it. But I'm disappointed and that makes me shamed. Again. And she says she's not saying we have to stop work right now. She doesn't want to maybe selfish. But some work is good for her because it helps you know, forget sort of stay centered..

"Six waiting to forty five shoulder narrows. Him. And everybody knew you didn't give a limb to be John. Big bad, John either. Folks, we have Big Ben John's miracle online to talk about the news of the day today is voting day election day in the United States of America something to celebrate. And the main way to celebrate it is to vote. God bless you. As you vote make an effort, it might be tough. Do it. It's the right thing to do John's miracle before we continue with our substantive conversation. I just wanted to announce we had a contest my book, Donald drains, the swamp is out and we contests for Halloween and for election day that during this week if anybody dressed up as Donald the caveman and sent us a picture of them. We would send them a copy a signed copy of Donald reigns. The swamp personalized copy in Donald he's my caveman sticker. And he's my caveman button and all the trim. All right. And we said whoever wins the contest. I gets three books and three stickers. And someone's we got an entry two days ago that I posted part of it on social media. It is the most exquisitely disarmingly cute thing I have ever seen in my life. A family dressed up the dad and their little baby as Donald drain the swamp complete with a yellow wig sewn. Awesome wig. You saw it. It is so cute. I could shriek it is. So unbelievably cute. I think they're going to end up being the winners of this. It's the walk family W A L CK Alicia walk. It seems to me the mom did all the sewing, and it is so spectacular. I want one of these. I want one of these costumes, but I have to say that if they don't win I'll be shocked by midnight tonight. We get an all the entries, and I just wanna say folks, this one is going to be tough to beat try. I hope you'll try, but it was. Is so cute. I still I just can't believe it just incredible. Did you ever price that aside for someone who dresses his their dog opposite, Georgia Soroush? Yes. Perfect. Shaggy lab. Let me tell you whoever dresses their dog up as Georgia's Soroush gets a free signed book for me. Thank you for reminding me that the George Soros the villain in the book. The Georgia Soroush is is also if somebody wants to do that you will be rewarded for that. Folks will be rewarded on this program? I'll say your name if you don't want me to say your name, I won't say your name. I I will reward you. I will reward you. But that I just have to say the picture that the walk family w k it is so cute. I couldn't I really I just howled. It is so beautiful. And then a leash o- walk who's the mom in the family? She even wrote a sonnet, which I'm not gonna read right now. We'll do that tomorrow. We're kind of a live call in show tomorrow in case, anybody cares. If you listen to this program when we're live, which is which is two PM eastern standard time to four pm. That's our to our two hours that we go. Live, but we will be doing the show live and listening to your well answering your phone calls. So if you can't get this live on your radio you Metaxas. Talk dot com. You can get us live there or you can get the app on your phone put Metaxas in your app store on the phone, and you can get us live. You can listen while we're doing live, and you can call in. We're gonna have some fun tomorrow. So anyway, just wanted to say that so John's Mirek we were talking about mongering released. I was going to talk about fearmongering. We were talking about the Democrats going stark raving mad, and I think I know the reason for the left politics, and especially identity, politics and victim politics, and the politics of white guilt, and the the politics of of breaking up into ethnic groups intriguing that as if it's the only morally important thing instead of fate. It has become a religion. It has become a an enthusiastic crazy chew the paint the walls. Speak in tongues lasts yourself. You know, bleeding all over the stream that kind of crazy. Pseudo charismatic religion of the time that you saw like pay the pagan priests of Rome who used to castrate themselves the priests obey away. I mean, it is a it. He's a psychotic pagan religion. And in order to keep a religious moving moving going back. Kind of you have to keep raising the stakes. You have to keep having exciting spectacles, you keep you have to keep doing things that seem like blood sacrifices. I mean, I think Kathy Griffin holding the bloody plastic head of the president. I think that stayed into something in this new pseudo religious movement that little right. You're right. One of the reasons I love having as we we can talk about what's going on. It's not just what's happening in the news. But to look a little bit deeper. So when we're talking about victim, politics, right? The Democrats have fully embrace this just a few years ago, they had not fully embraced it. There were still moderate Democrats. But something has happened to the party where they are. They are fully embracing this, for example, we have African Americans running in on the Republican side Democrats. But this for the Democrats, this is the most important thing is it a woman. That's the most important thing we need to get more women, and we need to get more blacks in we need to get more transgender people pro-life pro-life, and then they're not real blacks are not real women. Well, no what I'm saying. Is that the Democrats when they have a candidate who is any of these things take off the box this straight for them. This is very very important. It's effectively why Barack Obama got elected because people said look the most important thing in America is to elect finally to elect a back black president the most important thing in America is to elect a woman president in other words, what they stand for their character all of those things even if they're decent. And in some cases, they're they're law laudable things about Barack Obama. But all of those things took a back seat. No pun intended. Because identity is now the thing. And the reason I'm bringing this up is because if you think about it that way of thinking is fundamentally un-american it's fundamentally divisive. It forces us to think about us versus them that the guy thinks did I get in. A woman thinks that a woman get in anything. Wow. When this is pure division. We are sowing the seeds of division, the Democrats are sowing the seeds of division, and it's tremendously harmful. It shouldn't be about nursing. Yeah. Mike. I'm Lisa in the former Yugoslavia can can I tell you. You don't wanna go there? You really really don't want to go down that road. That's what leads to like, the siege of Serb Nico. That's what leads to ethnic cleansing. That's what needs ethnic gangs shooting it out. If you if you went back and watched the tros Martin Scorsese movie gangs of New York turned it off halfway through. But that is how you create a society like that. If I encourage people to be tribalist. It's unchristian really stupid. Okay. And by the way. But think of this you have the Democrats have been accusing the Trump Republicans of being tribal nationalist, which I actually think is nonsense though. Those groups are real fringe groups. They're ridiculous groups. I mean of all the conservatives. I know I don't know. Anyone knows anybody in those wacko groups? Now, what what I find funny is that this is. And you just said it precisely what the Democrats are doing. They're dividing us up into tribes. Instead of saying we are all Americans they say Urugay American. You're black American. You're a Latina American. That's the most important thing, we need more Latinas and more blacks and more transgender and more gays, and you think that's not the American way that divides people it makes people think about what's your sexual identity. What's your color? What's your and you realize it ought not to be about that that is itself fundamentally against what Martin Luther King junior? And so many other heroes of the civil rights era era worked to overcome. That is great irony of our time. Douglas. He was the great opponent of identity politics. He was a great American Frederick Douglass is somebody I would wherever there's a confederate monument. I'd rather than tear it down. I would like to put up a statue of someone like Frederick Douglass. And we both statues up in that there'd be a silent tension assignment dialogue between our countries past our country future, which I hope our country huge is one of civic nationalism where we're loyal to the country because it's ours. And we feel a sense of kinship with our fellow citizens, regardless of the with the elements of their identity and their tribal of religious past because they are fellow Americans, and we are in this together. Well, it's funny. I remember back when Dukakis was running for president. You know, there's a side of me that thinks oh there's a Greek in there like a Greek could be president. But you know, my father who was born in Greece. And who is deeply Greek I'm half Greek. He would never vote for Dukakis because he knew Dukakis represented things that were on American Dukakis was not the right candidate Dukakis did not stand against the eagles. The communism at the time. This is before the fall of the wall didn't stand against those things. And my father showed me the way he showed me that it's about America. We are Americans. Now, we're proud to have grown up in Greece. But we don't vote for somebody because they're ethnically Greek we vote for somebody because they're the best candidate. We're going to be back with John's Mira folks today is election day. If you haven't voted turn off the radio program, go vote, and we'll meet you back here when you voted. News, opinion, passion. This is AM nine seventy the answer. Mostly cloudy. Fifty six degrees. What's going on? We had the answer. Andrew Cuomo getting four more years as governor of New York. The democratic incumbent had a large advantage over his calendar. Republican duchess county executive Mark Molinaro Cuomo spend much of the campaign trail and criticizing President Trump with an effort to drive New.

"News time five thirty four with the fiftieth anniversary next July of the first walk on the moon. An auction of all things Armstrong is being held also to coincide with next month to release of the Ryan Gosling movie. I man ten ten wins news. Ben John Montana. Got a sneak peek at the memorabilia at heritage auctions on fifty seventh and park. John. I'm bridget. Our great national hero was also a pack rat Kathleen goose Mon the managing director here at the auction. House says there's Armstrong's third grade report card almost all as and the letter he wrote to the Easter bunny moving on an autographed copy of the Newsweek moon landing cover. He's got his space helmet. Is a real iconic piece, especially with the moon backdrop Armstrong's. Gemini flight suit is also here goes mon- says anything Armstrong is a treasure every one was riveted towards him being on the moon. And what he was going to say is a pivotal ballpoint in American history where people rallied and felt good about being American that we did. And so one small bid relatively speaking could land, you one giant piece of Neil Armstrong's life. John Montagne ten ten wins at heritage auctions wins news time five thirty five. "Get it and say. Okay something, stylistic change in the case of Denver. This is Ben John Elway's baby, and he gets all the credit for for amazing things that, they've accomplished not just as a quarterback for him as, a GM in the in recent years, with the, winning, success but there has to be some owners. Shapira Paxton Lynch is not the guy and now what are they doing I mean there there's a little piece, they get a two year deal right quarterback so what are they going to do, moving forward I eight Yeah yeah Chad Kelly, Kelly's guy who when we talk, about the quarterback from last year's class probably would have been a part of the conversation much earlier in the draft had not been for an injury that ended his season prior. To that in college certainly had a. Little bit of you know interesting off. The field dust-ups that came up? With him but as far as a. Talented quarterback on the field we saw that. Clearly show it well in case keenum I mean? Is obviously Yeah but. We're talking about, the parent and I don't know if that's Chad Kelly either but right now he's there well, and we forget. The, case keenum is thirty so we're. Gonna get. We'll, get some answers on case keenum. Because I've said repeatedly I think when the Vikings when you want to look at the production the. Vikings, hope. To, get in their situation by replacing case keenum I don't think that they're looking, for some huge massive uptick I think they're looking to replicate that limited production the question is can case keenum replicate that level of. Production when he's not Minnesota, big question because the weapon the, offensive line, yeah it was pretty good last year there are no. They're nicked up this year receivers he had in Minnesota, and certainly being the conditions you're playing in Minnesota little different than in Denver When the weather starts to get bad so we'll, see I think one of the other instinct things we wondered where the jets and the Baltimore Ravens be playing with, three quarterbacks. We saw the jets won't be in trading teddy. Bridgewater and I, guess Lamar Jackson did not do enough in. The eyes of of John Harbaugh to say we, can kind of. Be, free of RG three and he. Can go. On, about his business to be traded. Or cut they kept three quarterbacks they're certainly looks a little behind RG three I think outperformed expectations And there's also that we're balancing act of wanting to lose Lamar Jackson as a weapon in that offense and not have him just be the backup quarterback so quickly Mike for four guys now there are guys that got released in you you were in this situation and guys will try and go on, you went to the FX? FLU gave a shot you up to Canada's while some of these guys now that are still looking to keep that dream? Alive that got released required reading by the way Dominic Foxworth former defensive back in the NFL wrote a great piece for the undefeated on what comes next for a lot of guys that are that are traded that find themselves in positions where they are. At that career crossroads because you have to ask yourself a lot of, hard questions and a lot of really bad thoughts start coming in is. This it for. Me is this over or am I going to be able to re up redouble my efforts and try and land somewhere. Else it is a tremendous time of change for a, lot of guys who are the meat of the bell curve who live on the back end of, these roster's and are just trying to make ends meet for their families and set up a better future and that's such. An interesting point because. Even though we're through cut days they're still, going to be guys Right and and so now they think living they finally made it they got their dream and they're still living on the still go away it's a it's a sad time for a lot of. Those guys coming up who won the weekend our next guest is certainly, a strong contender Golic and wingo.

"Mortgage confidently join amac didn't final. Hour it's teams Pacific preview time you guys voted couple of weeks ago we picked ten teams around the, National Football League that we. Thought were most compelling coming into the year which was the Houston Texans. And I liked that vote and put it on my list of ten we're going to get a Texans preview from a. Guy who comes them, day in and day out. For the Houston chronicle? John, MacLean joins us you're on CBS sports. Radio how'd your early season Ben John Jodi there's a lot of excitement in Houston and the reason is most players. Are healthy last year twenty three players on injured reserve including thirteen starters they were just decimated by injuries people's kinda just forgotten about, it did you see. Just about everybody healthy practice they held out. A bunch of, guys from that first game at Kansas. City just because there, was no. Need, to play him and, especially, saying Shawn Watson back on the, field has got people in. Houston with varying very high. Expectations and there's one thing. To get guys hurt we've even talk. About that today extensively everybody has injuries in the National Football League but the level of player of the, injury also has a major. Effect and when you lose your young starting quarterback who's kind of flash. And made you believe he's going to be your franchise quarterback for the next decade and you lose a guy by the. Name of JJ watt, whose only candidate for defensive. Player of the year year, in Route. That that's more than just injury that injuries to superstars, that derails a season Jody I, gotta believe that. A psychological effect to nobody will ever admit that but they they. Got worse worse as the season wore on? Their offensive line was pathetic definitely the worst in the NFL their running game did work passing game didn't work defense have gone to number one in, the NFL two thousand sixteen to allow the most points in the league and that's. Why besides the taken out to players you. Just mentioned as well as many more. Day just they were not do replacements weren't, good they didn't add depth and that's why I think new general manager. Brian gain along with Bill O'Brien it worked, so hard throughout the off season and we'll continue to do it when the washers reduced ninety fifty three's. Continued to try to turn that depth to try to get as good as they can give so if they get caught That situation. Yet they won't be so helpless I didn't give us the reason why one of the areas, of. Need that they need to do upgrade and certainly by depth in was, the offensive, line as anyone flashed so far in preseason and says all right yeah are. Lying. Had a lot of room for improvement at least we. Can see, some at. This position Johnny they got four new starters they started the five against Kansas City they kept watching he only. Played a few, plays but Brandon wing looked really, good they kept in playing gave up no sacks no hits and that was good you know. Ordinarily offensive line does, that the first preseason game people juicy on, about it but because the offensive. Line it'd been ridiculed here for so many months throughout the OSCE and they did us free agency upgraded people here are looking for any little areas of improvement and that was the first thing I wrote about. After the game was it It is just the first half of the first preseason game, but you're looking for improvement and. They did well in that game now they have to build, on it up front after running game go and of course protect. You watch No, I heard you say something, I wasn't sure I heard correctly. Brandon Weeden look. Good did you. Really say that the last time he played here. Jodi he was helped him win two. Games at three touchdown. Passes what rushing. He's ratings one, seven and no. Turnovers, but it was so long, ago people have forgotten he played, well it was at the end, of two thousand fifteen and in this game he was nine eleven, threw two touchdown passes his rating Jody. One forty three point zero okay the numbers..
