"Ben Heart Sock by partner in crime all season long 11 of these, This was the BCS national championship back then in 2002. In this building, right? And ah, Glendale, Arizona's Sun Devil says I was tempi, but in the same region and you played into Fiesta bowls. What were some of your memories? I guess outside of the championship. That would be the obvious one. Well, yeah, to be a part of a team that ended a 34 year drought of national championships for Ohio State was special. But I'll tell you standing on any bowl stage as a victor and having confetti rained down on you. It's a spectacular experience so few people get to do and I'll never forget my time to do that 31 yard line. How many people walking the earth. You could say that Ares shut back in the game, throws the pass out too. Admire the tight end, and he's finally dragged out of bounds on the near side, Mike Golic's senior who has has his first his last ESPN assignment, He's on the television side for this broadcast on ESPN. I've been here as long as Mike's been here, so we wish him well in his endeavors in the future, But I'm reminded that 22 years went quickly and after this play, I'll let you know how I marked my time. Here at ESPN radio from the 35 yard line shut to pass on second six. Nothing to his right tucks in the left hand cuts inside 41st out and finally dragged down at the 42 yard line. Jake Hummel. I can remember like it was yesterday that Miami Ohio State game that you participated in. We've had so many different studios here in the Bristol headquarters. I was over in what's called Building five. It was a temporary while we were waiting for our new studios to be built. And I remember like it was yesterday. Having those updates going deep into the night during your championship run. Here's shuck passing incomplete, was trying to find Sean dollars out of the backfield in the flat, overthrew him in tow coverage, and it's incomplete with 5 16 to go. Well, Aziz, we wrap up in many ways this college football season waiting for the national championship be crowned. I'm just so thankful. The perseverance of the universities for the conference is to have a full season. I think I heard last that it was 87% of the games that were scheduled got played, and that's AH moments like my memories that are so so sweet that these guys have had their chance to have a very shuck on second down and 10 fires across the middle, complete first down. Out across the 40 to the 36 yard line. Josh Delgado with the reception and Oregon's offense moving is smooth as it has since the second quarter with five minutes to go. So often a change of tempo will bring a lifeless offense back to attention, and that's what's happening in this drive down 17 points organ of the Iowa State 38 yard line. Shotgun staff to shock looking left nothing backside pressure, and they grab him for a yard loss out of the 39 yard line. Will McDonald takes him down? Third in the FBS in sacks finally gets to the quarterback. He's had a breakout season as a redshirt sophomore. Somebody that they're going to continue to build around that I was state got him for a couple more years really talented rusher. Well. McConnell quickly to the line shut takes the snap from the 39 on second down fires across. It is complete to Johnny Johnson of the 35. But right there day Trone Young takes him down. It's third down after five yards game. The other thing that organs organ is doing on this drive is they're moving with tempo, but they're also taking some shots deep up until this drive. Both teams have been settled short gains short throws, not really stretching that field vertically and forcing that defense to cover all of the field. Now that Iowa State defense a little bit Um Hired as Iowa State calls for time out here at the four minute mark to go trying to manage the ballgame is maybe take the time out for Will. MacDonald went down to a knee after.

"And we end this innovative Sancho with an old fashioned information storage device a book. He is professor. Peter Ben Heart in Saint Louis Louis Missouri all about a botanist from the gardens at Q.. Have you ever decided to hate a book before you read it because you didn't like the title. That's how I felt after seeing the cover of the plant Messiah by Carlos Magdalena. Let's be honest. The words plant and Messiah. I don't belong next to each other. Remember what Jesus did to that fake Tori. I still don't like the title much but I can heartily Italy recommend the book. The author explains in his forward that it's not a title. He gave to himself as he has long hair and a beard. Checkout is interesting videos on Youtube. A journalist at a Spanish newspaper couldn't resist the comparison. His family thought it was funny and continue to hope that that Carlos's mother will eventually stand on her balcony and repeat that once infamous line from monty. Python's life of Brian Eh. Late Terry Jones owns of Monty Python. Who died last week Valley Peter? An earlier generation of readers should be pleasantly surprised that his his writings often paralleled the books of Gerald. Daryl like Darrell. Magdalena collects imperilled species then brings them to a safe place. In this case the botanic gardens at cue to nurture them. So like Darrell Magdalena's work takes them to Mauritius South America Africa and Australia The differences that Magdalena calls himself a botanical horticulturalist. That is he specializes in the propagation of species to maintain living and scientific collections not in the mass production of commercial floor of for attractive landscapes. Hence his title at killed like Dorel Magdalena's job can't be separated from his private life and and it's ultimately connected to a colorful childhood. The boy Gerald had the Greek island of Corfu. But the boy Carlos comes from a story areas in Spain's North West born nineteen seventy-one Magdalena's father bought a small farm when Little Carlos was five five years old allowing his son to grow up in a region with the greatest expanse of deciduous forests in Spain. The author explains what what it was like. In the last years of the Franco regime like so many authoritarians Franko and his followers were convinced that it was a modern modern nations duty to become productive by taming nature that meant destroying as much native vegetation as possible and killing native animals because they didn't turn a profit consequently Spain Burns every summer thanks to its many Eucalyptus Groves School Board Magdalena But his mother taught him to identify wild plants and to garden water. Lilies fascinated him and that fascination continues to this day instead of going onto university Magdalena and a friend opened a successful cafe its profit and sale. Let him move onto the gardens Q.. You where he entered its horticultural training program. He was most interested in the tropical orphans. In the Great Palm House often representing the last examples of plants regarded as extinct in the wild dead species. Walking Magdalena was convinced that by using a battery of techniques and protocols their numbers could be increased and then repatriated in accordance with Q.. Policy Magdalena I focused on Amihai Lund's of the Mass Korean archipelago where fifty three plant species are regarded as extinct and about thirty percent are endangered often represented in the wild by one lonely plant when Gerald Darryl and his crew visited Mauritius in the nineteen seventies they were after breeding stock of native species of golden furred bats and pink pigeons encouraging them to breed in captivity must have been in a lot easier than Magdalena's attempts to derive seeds or viable cuttings from one or two remaining trees some pollinated exclusively by lizards thirds. He also came across a comet orchid on Reunion Island pollinated by a raspy cricket his colleagues filmed the process with a night. Vision Vision Camera. Water Lilies belong to the family nymph. AC and Magdalena is clearly a nymph. Oh lipped look it up up for me. These were the most stimulating chapters in the book culminating in a two thousand fifteen expedition to Australia's Kimberley with with Professor Kingsley. Dixon now a professor at Curtin University at Perth Magdalena is especially interested in these top and goddesses bodices as they are so well adapted to survive long after Billabong dry out in summer this three week expedition allowed the authored to collect a new species of Nymph area with large flowers and previously MIS identified as a rare hybrid in the northern territory territory. Sometimes though it's the little ones that caused the most concern and readers may be mesmerized by chapters ten and eleven. Here we need need name failure. Thir- Marham a water lilies. Small enough. It could grow and bloom in a porridge bowl. Once found only right at the edge of a hot water spring and Rwanda it is now extinct in the wild in captivity. The flowers produced hundreds of seeds but all died a few days after sprouting underwater. The author tries several experiments. But they fail he. He then checks the literature and notes that while floating leaf pads of water. Lilies suck up plenty of carbon dioxide from the air are there is little in the water for submerged. Baby Leaves Magdalena experiments further until he finds a propagation and designed that feeds the gas to seedlings and dozens of plants reach adult size happy ending. Not Quite chapter eleven recounts the day he discovered that one of his beloved lillies was stolen right out of a public display pool in the Princess of Wales Conservatory late. This hit the international news in twenty fourteen. Magdalena doesn't say so but it looks like the reporting was more sensational than accurate accurate. I remember seething at the time that someone would take the only existing plant in fact many bloomed on in queues research research and propagation houses nevertheless. There's a lot of food for thought here. Did you know that queue has its own police force. It was established established in eighteen. Forty five staffed originally by veterans of the Crimean War. Do you realize the Internet remains the biggest black market for trafficking trafficking and protected species but also defrauds the unwary posting photos of rarities while selling seeds of common relatives. Yes Q now. Repatriates rare species but it and other botanical gardens have older reputations as receivers of stolen goods in the form of Tulip Bulbs Tea Bushes and the seeds of rubber trees. The book provides an epilogue encouraging readers to conduct their own on citizen science in propagation and to join conservation studies. Many of these options suggested will already be familiar to Australian listeners. As the author concludes that unlike the Messiah he can't perform miracles but he can commit his research and future writings to promote biodiversity city and counteract a form of general apathy we bought inists coal plant blindness. Well I tried to to do that over. The past forty years and hope Carlos Magdalena is more successful than I was professor. Peter Ben Hawk reviewing the plant Messiah by Carlos Magdalena from the Royal Botanic Gardens at Q.. And yes as Peter just remarked. The Magdalena videos are worth watching lots about Australia idea. "Sirius XM channel eighty Ben heart sock Nick cattles with you Peter burns out this week. He is down in the Bahamas tweeting watching live streams of college basketball games. Texting back and forth with Mike a about songs that he hates. And he's apparently he's on this vacation, Mike, you said earlier this morning. He's on his vacation without his child. Right. Like, a fifteen month year old child fifteen month old child, and he is down in the Bahamas with his wife without said child, and he's still on Twitter, and texting and watching streams of college basketball down there with beautiful Lauren burns, the got away, you know, as as as anybody who has kids knows if you get a few days away from your kid, it makes everything a little bit better. Sometimes and he's watching LSU basketball on the beach. That's says a lot about Peter burns. When did he leave? Do. We know he probably. Say he left on Friday. He is tweeted at least oh my gosh. He's tweeted eight times since he started his vacation. I have a tweet at eight times in February. Gonna say all going say is this is this in the middle of March in a in a few weeks three weeks? I will be out in Vegas with my buddies for a big bachelor party. I will guarantee you you will not have me sitting there watching anything on my phone. I will not be texting you Mike on Sunday morning. Probably be. I don't even I don't know. If I want to speculate what I will be doing by Sunday morning on that weekend. But I I will not be focused on this show or Peter burns. I can guarantee you that where you stay as it should be. Where are you staying? So I've never been to Vegas this. Yeah. This is my honestly the first time that I'll be in Vegas. Yeah. So I'm staying five five o'clock shadow on a Sunday morning indicates. You've been the Vegas. This is actually a tightly trimmed beard. You've got look like you've got to look like you've got a standing reservation at like, not not like some Palacio like the polo towers, or or whatever one of the one of the lower end type places. Cousin Eddy goes about certain dealers like cheryl's work. So you're you're saying I look like a shady, dude. Just like really shady degenerate gambler who drinks until five in the morning, the I am absolutely. Yeah. Quite baffled that you're saying. This is your first time. I that's where where are you staying Bally's Baranova? That's good or bad. What does that out is in the lower echelon of Vegas ski resorts? Well, listen to my I'm following my buddies. We're all staying at the same place and have a look of more Atlantic City. More like a riverboat type of guy. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. I mean, so this is the first time I've ever met, Ben heart sock. Okay. This is the best week every SPN radio heart sock. Cattles? This is the first time I've met him. I've I've known Ben heart sock for all of two hours, two hours. I already know his bathroom habits. I was told way too much about that. And now he's telling me, I looked like some shady Atlantic City. No world responsibility kind of human being. That's that's just the hate coming through. You know, I wanna be where you are. That's all that's all. I do not make those decisions. Make those kinds of decisions. All right. So speaking of decisions reportedly an allegedly Robert Kraft's has had made some dumb decisions down in Florida. He is facing charges of soliciting another to commit prostitution. You all by now know, the story I don't want to pay attention to that part of it specifically. I'm more wanna talk about the organization Ben and how this team is going to handle this kind of distraction. Of course, we know the patriots have had a long history of distractions. Right. Whether it was spy gate or Deflategate. They literally had a tight end on their roster. Execute a human being less than a mile away from his house they've really dealt with any kind of distraction, you can imagine. Now, they're going to have to deal with this distraction with their owner somebody who is very influential within the league highly respected throughout the league and really loved in adored in that locker. I mean, some owners are not close to their players craft is very close to his players including Tom Brady. How do you think New England deals with this Ben I think this is low level as it stands today until the video comes out? I am anxiously waiting the video to see how bad that looks like whatever is going to unfold there that could be a an atom bomb. You know, and in its impact. But right now, the public sentiment and the Twitter sentiment, and and even knowing the locker room environment, and what locker rooms around the locker room will be would be saying as it stands right now. You know, Robert was doing Robert was doing guy stuff right disagree? I disagree with that. They're you know, we talked about it earlier the distinction between was she was she a prostitute. That was a willing to the the job. He's chosen for herself versus someone who's being trafficked. I don't care either way. I foundation am against that. But right now where it stands today. I think that the guys are just saying a, you know, there will be a portion of that locker room that will have a little more respect for Robert Kraft that he's stepping out and try, you know, it's a little bit of a male chauvinism type of thing. I think that's a good point. I think it's a good point. But if a video comes out, and it's just weird and nasty, and perverted, and who knows what could potentially be there that can that could change the tenor of this discussion very quickly. Yeah. When there's video involved. It's always for whatever reason we saw this with Ray rice, right? You know, we hear the nine one one call with Greg hardy. And people react a certain way, we we might not have video of a domestic dispute or domestic violence in in some people might not think that it's as bad as some people are saying, it is when you see the video when you see the Ray rice video it shouldn't be this way. But it is when one certain people see the video the outcry and the outrage it grows. So the video is going to be interesting. The thing that I look at with the patriots in this situation. Bella check will be fine. He'll handle it. Like, he handles everything. The person that's going to be fascinating watching during this entire time aside from Kraft is Brady because Brady and craft have an almost father, son relationship. So this is going to burn deeper within Brady having to answer these kinds of questions, and it's going to be interesting and compelling to see how Brady deals with those questions about craft. It becomes a morality thing. This really isn't a football thing. This isn't even an owner player thing. This is a morality thing. I don't know. Tom Brady's moral background. I don't know his standards of living as far as what what he determines is right or wrong because there's right or wrong. There are their population of people that think that a massage parlor is an acceptable thing. I disagree with that. But there are there is a certain population. That is going to say he's just doing what what guys do. And unfortunately, I think that's what we're we'll be decided that that's what has to be discussed here. This is going to be very personal for Brady. And it's going to be intriguing to see how he handles those kinds of questions. I think he'll be fine. But it'll be interesting to see how he deals with it all because it is a Robert Kraft bless their hearts. That's right. It's coming up next. It's the best week ever Nick cattles along with Ben heart socks sitting in for Peter burns, ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Russillo..

You don't really have this show and not have PB at all see PB was go hold Hold on. on Dr do for you get going on that one of the things you've you've done a tremendous job stepping in. And and hosting the best week ever. I mean, tremendous. Yeah. I know I can't say enough. Cannot say enough. You know, how impressed your professionalism your spirit your spirit? Really? I think in a lot of ways is strong. But one thing definitely professionally and one of the parts of this show that we haven't gotten yet to today is one of the favorites. Among our listeners weekend therapy ever. Yeah. And I think it would be remiss if we went through this entire three hour segment and didn't do a little bit of weekend therapy. And so the great thing is as we go to the shell Pennzoil performance line. We have a little Sunday therapy with somebody that it feels it feels right, but it feels a little bit wrong because the host the host of best week ever. And also the counselor of heart sock and burns Sunday morning therapy sessions. We've got a joint enlist story we've got to do a little bit of therapy with Peter burns. So let's go to that hotline right now. And we're joined by Peter and Baton Rouge, Peter. How are you? Hello. Hello friends. How are you doing? Well. I'm not gonna lie. I knew this was going to happen as you can hear my voice. I felt the impending doom. As an LSU fan when Bama combs. It's like whatever it's tax day, and you have to get your tax in right? Like, you know, the IRS is going to blow your nose, and you have nothing to do. You can't do anything about it. And that's that's what Ella. Bama is Alabama guys has become the IRS of college football. Hey, they suffocate you, and it's not any fun because you're going to pay the piper in it was then a hundred thousand people last night in that stadium full throat. They're going crazy in right from the get-go you go in this is gonna be in different than it has been the last seven seas. I like how you went straight from therapy. You just crushed that. And you went from we're going to do this as a therapy session to know. I'm just going to be Peter burns. And I'm gonna give my insight on I'm not playing. Complete derail the show today. Because listening I got four people going man Doria should host this show. Every stinking. Let me let me. All those text for our producer. That's great. That's great. Well, what what was it like though? I mean, the the atmosphere looked but nana's I mean, it looked it looked bonkers even even with the loss leading up to the game. The, you know, the pomp and circumstance and game day set and everything I mean, it was unbelievable right? Lived up to the hype is it was the first year though. I felt like he had something different in the air since twenty twelve remember that was coming off the heels, you know, losing in twenty eleven to the national championship game twenty twelve great gave TJ Yeltsin takes path they score. They win on a last second drive or last minute drive in. This was the first year it kind of felt the same way. Because you really didn't know what was going to happen. You know in the years past probably since twenty thirteen to up into last year guys we felt like this is going to be too heavy weights. There. We're going to run the ball. Whoever was the last man standing would this year felt different because you're like this is like a Netflix show in which you don't know whatever the hell was going to happen. Like this was game throws because you're like, I don't know. Bama hasn't played anybody. But then LSU they ran through Georgia couple of weeks ago. And what was gonna happen? Nothing end of the day. It's just the IRS Paul wins again. And I mean, they're just I think the thing too. In in Doria. I think we've talked about this a little of the SEC network, but thing is loss in how good Alabama's offense is is how good their defense is we don't we don't talk about it..

"Last night. Ben heart sock is coz in here. So I actually did show prep. I watched World Series. I watch college football got ready for the NFL everything that I needed to do to be prepared for this show. I have done now. I just have to execute. The the, hey is in the barn, my friend. How are you, sir? I and the exact opposite. I. I had a soccer game early. So I got home, right? As the noon games. We're kicking off. But I had to be a little late getting to the noon games because my other daughter had science fair experimentation that had to be monitored. Which by the way, we were mixing baking soda and vinegar in film, canisters and different ratios to see how high they would launch. I wanna watch list. Now, just the fact that you said this on this show baking soda and vinegar is the most middle school science fair combination in history. It's always vinegar. So then I watched my games I was catching up, but then the six o'clock went to a costume party. So I was up getting then I came back early from the costume party got back into games catching up till one in the morning because the costume party and the science fair stuff. Put me. I need I need to jump in. You keep calling it a costume party. Yeah. Wouldn't that required you to actually wear a costume, please? Please tell America before we get into the biggest story of the week ever. What what you dress your kids up as a in yourself for this quote, unquote, costume part? Oh, this wasn't a kids included costume party. This was a grown-up costume party. This was adults only and my wife, and I this is two years running. Now, we've gone as ghosts. I I don't see the big deal. If we even we even stepped up the ghost game last year. We just wore the sheets with the holes in it this year. We did I black makeup around is to look even spookier, and we added sleeves to the to the sheets how long into the party to the sheets come off at seven minutes tops, seven minutes when you're that. You're you're the worst kind of person to have at a party everybody goes, and they do all this prep work. And it's like, Peter Peter did all this. Prep-work this show. And you know, what you just come in and ruin it by putting feet over your head and going down where to go way to go this year showing up the second year with the same gift because it was kind of a joke last year that we did minimal effort. We really didn't care that much. We just were there for the nachos. And the punch then we show up this year exact same outfit, whereas everybody else just like you said, we had a Dolly Parton, and Kenny Rogers, we had a Bonnie, and CLYDE right people actually cared except for you know, that's fair. That's that's. This is what this is what Halloween parties. That's what it is you show up in the first fifteen minutes is like, oh, look what everybody's wearing. And then all of a sudden, you're just grownups wearing weird costumes Nacho. Okay. Listen, I got I need seven hours for all the stuff we had coming in today. I tell you this the been hearts costume party talk has now been closed. The case is closed on that. Now, it's time for the biggest story of the week ever..

"My friend if you now the time for Mike as next awkward moment of the Wiki, how are we up to number five hours that Mike had one? So the first. So for those just joining us, Ben heart saw came to Charlotte this weekend. This the first time we've ever done this show actually together. Either one of the the first awkward moments is that you thought that Mike AR producer was forty seven years old day when you first met he's thirty three and he's thirty three. So very awkward. Second in the number six on my list was my wife saying that she thought you were really dorky little white dude, thirty four pounds based on my voice, six, four. A former NFL and Ohio State standout. So that came in at number six number five. On the list of awkwardness. You don't even know about that. Oh, basically, when I was coming down, you told me it was your daughter's first birthday birthday. Bo. Thank you. And I went down to the ESPN store because you couldn't go when when you were close and I grabbed a few onesies just two little things to bring down for your daughter. Show thoughtful, so respect. Then I handed it to my wife who wrapped it up. Nice. Nice with pretty pink bow. Yes. And so I told a, yeah, just so you know, I, I brought a little something, you know, I mentioned it in passing, right? So then we take separate cars to your house and I get there and Ben supposed to be there. I was wondering why bit is late to the far so I text him, hey, did you get lost? And he's like, no, I had to run to WalMart to get something. His daughter because you can't show me up. So he had to go to the store to buy your daughter has eyebrows or something that is. And by the way I, that is number five of the list that is awkward. However, it's audited, you think I would care about somebody gets a one year old birthday party. Like I have care let my daughter, my daughter liked the bow on the actual present more than she actually like. It's it's, it's Mike doing the super thoughtful right so much four thousand people who people and some people aren't you fluid here from Connecticut. Meanwhile, I stop at the WalMart and mile and a half from your house. I almost brought a live puppy to try to compensate, you know, no, we don't need any of that. I will say this as long as you didn't stop at the gas station because some of us listening have done the gas station Valentine's Day or anniversary gift before if I'm being truthfully truth drugstore told, this is right. This is a confession I stopped at Publix. I see if I could find something there and I know that's why you were late. You did to? I maybe I'll find something in public. I almost just got a box of diapers and called it a day. Honestly, that would have been awesome. Listen, that would have been poopie gift function over fashion at any point. That was a bad joke, Mike demerits for that one. All right. Let's get into this because college football week eight brought the pettiness and I love pettiness in sports in delivered yet. Once again in at least we to the greatest sound of the week ever this week because it was Jim Harbaugh and Mark dantonio, Michigan, Michigan state head coaches, respectively, nipping at each other after this rivalry game. And that gives us our greatest sound of the week ever. Sweetest sound bite of the week ever. I just heard about it. I didn't hear at NC it, but the day was out there. He saw it and. Apparently there were closed line. Two of our guys came out in their helmets, Lawrence Marshall. Went up and clothesline them, you'll fashion clothesline ripped off. One of their guys ripped off the verts headphones, total Bushley and apparently coach Antoni was five yards behind it all smiling. So yeah, thanks Bush league. That's my. That's my impression of it. The other that you talked about the last few years fuelling like cleaner game or sportsmanship. There was some issues before the game today. The little brother line comes out again, afterwards, Michigan players and coach Harbaugh said the shenanigans before the game. We're total Bush league and coached Antonio's five aired behind it all smiling..

"Scheme of the week. Doubter. No doubt. Or is. It was down in the plains where Jordan hare. The Auburn Tigers had won thirteen straight games. And they were twenty nine and two in the last five seasons with a ten point lead. A last one of those laws were were in the last five seasons with a ten point lead. That was LSU last year. They blew a twenty point lead in Baton Rouge. And this year LSU comes back from behind to stun the other set of Tigers twenty three twenty one. How 'bout those by you bingos in it owes Iran, Ben heart suck what a game? I mean what a game. My notes are just slivered with the momentum swings. It was just so fun to watch. Because at times I was like I'm watching I'm watching LSU, and I'm like, well, they don't trust borough. And then they'll throw a deep ball and borough makes us incredible thoroughly, oh, they love, bro. And then stay steady them the same way. It was just a great a great college football game. Just for the momentum swings the atmosphere at Jordan hare. It was it was a great great game. It was one of those games in which you hope that lived up to the high because I feel like the last couple of years like CBS has the ESPN. Are they have the SEC draft pick? Right. So for those who don't know and people will go. Well, why is that game on CBS for the last couple of years? Yes. The SEC has had that contract with CBS where they get the number one draft pick well last couple of years at least feel like last year. None not a lot of the Ames lived up to the hype. I've always felt bad for you. Gary in Vern, what they were doing it going, man. This is kind of a blowout. Oh, that's one of those games where you felt like it was a college football playoff type atmosphere. You know what I don't like about that game is is is Jason aldean's at the beginning of the game. Well, you're not gonna like what almost say where it's like, it's like the best games. The SEC the best games on the best. I don't need you rub in that in. Okay. I get it. The big ten's had a rough patch here. I get it. But I don't I don't eat Jason aldean coming on with this tight jeans. Tell me about how great the SEC is move on. You know, that's the case why the CBS on SEC promo should just be like, they're good. You're gonna watch any way we're not gonna spend one hundred thousand dollars. I don't even know like what is all dean get paid. What are you guys? Go for that. I don't know. That's a great question country music star. Jason now dean just just throwing potshots at the rest of the country because he's from Georgia wars. What's worse the promos for big football games? Or when you have nine guys on a desk for a halftime show that those are tough because anytime I watched NFL game or. Then they're like, all right. Let's go ahead around the coverage, and we need to get to nine hundred twenty five games in a span of three minutes. And by the time, they intro everybody else. They don't have even time to get into the game Hasselback. Randy moss. Rex Ryan the other Hasselback Ross blonder, and we're not nearly as bad as I think like NFL network like NFL network on some of this Thursday night games would be like, here's seventeen different guys. And they all have one line like from now on they're going to be forty people on a set. And they're just going to hold up a tweet in that halftime show is going to try to fight somebody. I was there. I was there for Steve Smith and Michael Irvin talk a little trash together. However, getting it back to college football. I'm trying to in this pains me to say, okay. And I'm going to say what LSU did was nothing short of fantastic. They went in. And this is the first time since one thousand nine hundred seventy one that had college football team has two top ten wins underneath his belt in the first three weeks of the season. That was incredible. Joe boroughs showed me a lot. Dave Aranda who is making two and a half million dollars a year worth every single penny because LSU's defense kept them into this game. Right. Same thing. They did against Miami. The same thing they did against Auburn. Okay. Kept them in the game. However, I don't believe that LSU can win a title. And I don't believe that they are legitimate college football playoff contender. And it has nothing to do with what I've seen over the I I it has a little bit of something to do with over the first two weeks been what I mean by that is they still have a stretch in which they play Georgia. They gotta play Mississippi State, and they have to play Alabama three weeks three weeks ago. State and Alabama three. We do get the bye week before Alabama. But I think LSU at this point and can now with the schedule can lose one of those games NBA title contender. I don't know of LSU who thankfully, opened up the playbook. Like I wanted to see what Stevens meagre in this offense. Take it to the next level. They did that they could lose one of those games. But if you're saying you're still have to play Georgia Mississippi State Alabama in oh, by the way, possibly an SEC championship game against who. I think is going to be Georgia. You gotta win three of those four games. I'm not sure that not just LSU. I'm not sure if any college football playoff contender can go in and get that done. I think the matchup of Auburn and LSU is such a there so evenly matched both of their defenses were played lights out our incredible defensive fronts. But I think it just in general, I think that you can flip a coin and say who's going to win that game. If you flip that coin one hundred times fifty fifty each one of those teams get a win yesterday. But the argument that comes out, unfortunately, Auburn with that loss. They're they're behind the eight ball. But let's say LSU you talk about their schedule. My argument when you talk about LSU or LSU versus Clemson Clemson. Yeah, they've got they've got a cakewalk. We just talked about LSU has to has to play Georgia Mississippi State in Alabama and three consecutive games with my week mixed in there down the stretch. You look you look at what the Clemson Tigers have to do they have to go to Florida state look out. They've got to get off. To Boston College. They've got South Carolina and Duke good teams. But they're not what I'm getting at is if LSU can somehow get through that buzzsaw that is that three game stretch and make its way in they are better suited to go into the playoff because they're they are salty dogs. Contender. If when you say that if they can get in there. They're one of those things I played on a team that won a national championship. And nobody gave us a chance. We want a bunch of games by less than a touchdown. We went double overtime games against Michigan or overtime against Mitch overtime against Illinois. And we go into a game against the Miami hurricanes were nobody gave us a chance. But because we were salty dogs. We were we were battle-tested we got into that game and got into a dog fighting to win. And that's where I think LSU if they can somehow get into the dance Clemson is going to be. I would say what I say by that. I understand the Saltillo. They don't look at the same level. Right. They don't there's that second tier? And I think LSU is in that second really good tier? But there is a there is a different gear in. It's not even six gear that I think that Alabama. I believe that Georgia, and I think that Oklahoma are playing in right now. Like, I think those three teams in even I saw Ohio State. I wanna put them in that in in there as well. There just seems to be a different gear and what I saw out of Alabama continued weekend and week out. I'm not talking about this is a good Alabama team. We've seen some good Alabama teams in the past right with the national championship. This may be the greatest football team ever assembled from Nick Sabin staff. Now think about how many good teams he's had in defensively they are really good this year. But I've never seen a Nick Sabin offense. Like this. Intuit is using the game genie contra code in. It's out of control with how good that offense. Looks a. Yeah, I get it. But no one's even close right now to Alabama football. Right. But that's why I asked you whether or not you think old MRs equality opponent. Like, I get it. Alabama look spectacular to is living up to the hype anticipation, the touch what he's doing a spectacular. But they've still played Louisville. Arkansas Arkansas state and ole miss until they play allburn until they play LSU. We have not yet seen them at face adversity. Just like we saw Ohio State Ohio State grew a lot of character last night because they stood and looked down the gun barrel of TCU still found that way to win as good as Alabama is. I grieve their talent is incredible. But until they get into a street fight. We don't yet know. At the doors blown off of them. Right. Mike, a go just just record this. So we understand that has happened contender got. No, no, no, not that. She's not a contender. Alabama will destroy Texans. AM in Tuscaloosa next week, destroyed them. After one hundred years making shaving cream Barbara solves finally making razors. That's a no brainer. Barbra Salter six plus with six ultra thin blades. Save now at barbasol dot com. Aaron gold hammer ESPN eight fifty Cleveland so much to unwrap with him next. The Josh Gordon's situation. What, about Phil Yeah yeah Yeah I I, do listen it's as game of skill that the the lack of the loss of athleticism is different in those kinds. Of games that's why baseball players can. Play, longer they they lose some of that. Athletic ability some of that snap some of that, hip hop but but, it's a it's it's a. Finesse game they're playing a different style. I don't. Know if. He can bounce back from that or? Not I like how you stuck your question in there by, Rickie Fowler and. Here's why I liked it it's because the sport has to be beyond tiger and Phil, but it can't he was the guy that I. Thought was going to be the next year he, wrote he raced motocross and he wears. I think they could acknowledge Joe and sort of not stoop down to his level. He will have a bust, of course, in the hall of fame, but I just wonder, you know the the whole thing now from both sides actually feels a little bit childish to me. I wish both the hall MTO were handling this differently. Well, I was able to. I've been to a hall of fame induction ceremony. I was invited as a draft pick of Bill Polian Bill Polian went in, I think in two thousand fifteen and I didn't know Bill Polian well at all. He drafted me in two thousand and four and I got the invite and I was shocked because I only I was a disappointment on his culture Auster and only played there for a couple of seasons. But nonetheless, he invited me and I was I was honored. I mean, I was humbled to be able to be a part of his enshrinement and you go and watch part of this. The reality is Teo when he's sixty seventy. Whenever he's an old man, he will look back and he'll regret that he didn't go stand on that stage because you go, and there are ceremonies, and there are celebrations where you're going to see teammates and people are going to celebrate. The things that you did and you're going to be honored in a way that so few ever get the be there. The stats from going to high school ever plan in the NFL are miniscule that stats from going to the hall of fame or another order of several orders of magnitude more miniscule than that, and Teo is is just on. He's coming out here and he's doing this just to make it more about him and he's going to miss out on another great situation. You know, he was a great individual player Ben, but he never one to the level that I'm sure he would have wanted to play in the one Super Bowl in played well on a broken leg. One of the most harrowing incredible performances on a football field that I've ever seen. But there's a reason why te'o played for all these different teams in his career, and he didn't just play for one team. There's a reason that he bounced around the league. There's a reason that he wore out his welcome in every single place that he ever was. And it's because he had this selfish approach and demeanor throughout the course of his entire career. I hope he doesn't regret it one day, but I tend to agree with you that he probably will. And I do think it's a slap in the face to the rest of his class, and also the rest of the hall of famers that are going to be celebrating at the enshrinement ceremony, which you can watch on ESPN a little bit later today up.
