Oh yeah on the bed of a pickup truck in front of a diner in queens and do they put like a stool up there with a bottled water. There was a mike stand. I don't know if there was still did you. How was your memory of your sach. I mean i was rusty. But i was like. It's your fault for coming to the first comedy show which began laureate. Do miss doing stand up or you. Happy for the break i do that. I've been to mean a all may stand up shows in my bedroom on. Yeah and i constantly have to worry that. I didn't lock the door and family members going to barge in asking nita jar or or whatever i had to drive out which is when you walk. You walk through. I was like what. Are you doing more devastating. When somebody put their car in reverse during show. So laurie aaron. We have a game for you. Sound good read excellent so as you know. Fully artists are the people who create the sounds. We hear in film and television. So this audio quizzes called foley moly play a movie sound effect and you are going to guess how the sound was actually made. But don't worry. This is multiple choice. So you'll have some thing to choose from and you're going to be competing against each other so we're going to go back and forth Starting with aaron okay. Okay all right. This is godzilla from nine thousand nine hundred fifty four. Well that was weird. That was a weird one. Okay how was that sound created was it created a breathing through a scuba divers mask be rubbing a leather gloves coated in pine tar resin against the strings of a double bass or see withholding coffee from a mother of four. Well i mean. I'm sure it's probably two of those definitely. Sounds like coffee with your. I don't remember. Hey so i am going to say the pine tar and the base absolutely. That is correct. Any answer that contains the word resin is the right answer was no other byzantine and the sound designers for the two thousand and fourteen version. Say the roar differently. This army chant is from the second lord of the rings movie the two towers. What are we really hearing there. Is it a twenty five thousand spectators at a cricket match be the crowd at a special promotional lord of the rings inspired pro wrestling match or c sixty five hundred angry fans at comecon. Who just learned that. Ben affleck was cast as batman and or not audio from assume comedy show. I mean the most successful one. We agree that would be the most successful i. "Talking. Sasha baron cohen who looks like he is in the airbnb is probably corner of his house designated like the interview room but had like a black and white photograph next to him. That your like hotel. You just like stolen like what's going on here in just really funny. It's like sasha baron. Cohen couldn't be more generic athlete. Couldn't be more confusing. And they just had a very different frequencies and it's like affleck is like so excited to be interviewing. Sec about all characters like how he pulled up four at like all this stuff. it's. I found a lump debt. I've not seven our next segment. But i do actually think this ashburn cohen could be an airbnb. And i do also think that there is even a lockdown trend of people who are doing junkets and promoting things are in like a hotel room in a junket or like a separate space. I think privacy. I think probably some amount of like health and safety stuff If especially if if they're like crew involved. I don't really know i'm basing this primarily on the fact that when hugh grant was his undoing junket he was in a hotel room which she said during the interviews. It had some nice curtains anyway. The quick huber detour chore. Go for it. Did you see him re tweeting. Elizabeth hurley a little while ago. No but does it have to do with the fact that with hurley's been doing bikini photos which she does because she looks fantastic and also. She sells bikinis. I believe and then piers. Morgan had nothing better to do and so started yelling at her. Okay and we three this allowed. It's from january. Seventeenth and elizabeth hurley. Tweeted lockdown is turned me into a demented housewife forty seven jars of marmalade or nesting in my larder. Another sack of civil oranges await me and she hosts like these two jars marmalade. She's like wearing a push up bra. There's a lot of cleavage. She looks like a real house actually. Also tied whatever and hugh grant Lover of twitter as we know and former boyfriend of elizabeth hurley re tweets it quote retweets it interest rates paddington. Three and hugh grant one of the best twitter's we have. I really enjoy his combination of dad. Twitter extremely british humor twitter and brexit or anti brexit. a twitter. He's just it's it's an incredible anyway back to sbc in black elders. Want to note that. Sasha baron cohen youtube content is like one of my favorite buckets of content. I mean i could just go on. And i like i honestly do recurring feature. Where for like one minute each week you tell me what corner of youtube view. Either found or revisited because there's a tremendous amount of like regular stops onto juliette lipman youtube door. My favorite sasha baron cohen related video. Obviously number one is the lame as rehearsal video from the oscar several years ago where everyone has obviously obviously very close second. Is the video he reference one time when howard stern of his israeli grandmother doing calisthenics chair for the elderly. It's like so funny. Whatever else will police in the. That's great i s great again every time you talk about what you watch on youtube i just like i'm trying to get into the head space like i'm trying to understand where you are like now. I'm just going to click on this video and just watch these things. I don't click on videos. I don't really i. I'm alive and twenty twenty one so i'm gonna have to figure it out but it's more just. How do i get to the place of wonder and curiosity with which you greet the internet every day. I don't know. I just like. I don't know man i just. Love weird's great content. Hey i'm your number one fan. I am number one subscriber to juliet using youtube. And we'll say. I watch this. Ben affleck such video because it was fed to me like there you go to youtube dot com and it was the isn't always the worst. No it's great. I loved it. But i'm ben. Affleck loves borat like and he loves it. Allergy like loves loves loves and so he was like just interviewing this guy. He was like asking questions about how he did it he was like. How did you fool rudy giuliani. Like how did you actually get into the trump rally like all this stuff and sasha baron. Cohen loves shocked by his craft. Like sasha baron. Cohen is a very serious man. He is a convenient very serious. I think he doesn't seem that fun. But i worship have literally worship him and he was like going into extreme detail becoming playing trumpet like how he did all of this all things that he fakes. Or whatever and it was riveting riveted because it's like the side by side zoom content home continent really the tolerance for and then like riveted and laughing and he usually having such a good time. And i was like i love seeing ben laugh a happy family member if it gets too self serious than i don't really love kraft is a as a word is one where nick sign right but on the flip side. There's nothing better than people who are like people who are exceptionally talented. Like really wanna behind talent. I do think sasha baron cohen. it's just exceptionally talented. It's comedian ben. Affleck exceptionally talented as a filmmaker. I like he's made a lot of great movies. And ben in some good movies and some really bad movies but a lot more than other people have but when people who are really good at the thing they do like start about the thing that they do in a really specific level like sometimes you see them light up and you kind of just like get a window into like oh the genius has logged on. And it's. it's very very exciting. I often feel this way. When roger federer who is the most boring interview in the world starts actually talking about tennis and when he starts talking about the thing. He's good at. I'm just like oh. My god like a whole person showed up so it is really exhilarating when people explain how good they are the things that they do in part because people who are that talented and also like that passionate about what they do they get really excited you down you like that energy is communicated no it's completely true and also like ben affleck was talking. About how like. Amy ryan and jeremy renner had to like dishes for his films like like that was like really fascinating to about like hearing. He was talk about the process. This is back on the hollywood reporter pod the process of how he how he makes movies in whatnot and i don't know it's just like was it exciting to like actually here. Ben speak in some ways. It's so funny because like we look at pictures of him all the time. I look at pictures of him. All the time like google old wants to as as i mentioned and so i almost feel similarly to him as a do with the royal family. Megan harry actually speak. It's like almost surprised. Because he's such a conception of who they are in your head based on the photos that you're served on us weekly the daily mail and so we're going to be so animated literally Versus like these during discombobulated photos that type of his house is like it's a pleasure. I don't know. I love this man. I also love is man but i think the other thing is interesting. Is that doing a seventy minute podcast. You like talk even if they're called anecdotes. But we're trying to be personable and relatable that's like new celebrity right someone an older generation transit like trying to segue and i think most people with the exception as always probably like beyond say though even beyond say didn't as told you with bogan was shares more personal things.

Baby like throwing away photos are putting things under the bed but i guess when you have a life size cut out in a closet you can fold it up. You can fold it up and i go on. That many dog walks. If we're going to have to watch you to be that obsessed with each other for that much time you can be a little classier about this. That's the lately disrespectful. What a classy way to throw out of cardboard you know i could have folded it. He could take it up. You could have ripped it up. He has twelve people working for him. That really i have to say. Are you really okay. Because the door is closed. I need you to really think about it. Because i want to marry you but if you don't if you want children you're not gonna wanna say with me or vice versa station. Maybe sort of personal develop wise as bizarre icicle theater teacher but As sometimes happens with a really important person and young people's lives he took on like he was Sort of you know. My father wasn't present you know. He taught us how to be responsible. Hard-working ethical moral adults. He took us to take acting writing directing really seriously. He taught us that You know let us improvise the seams and then direct them. You know you didn't he. He he kind of introduced this notion that if you were an actor just an actor wasn't a an asylum that it was all part of this larger process and gave us sense of empowerment that we could write direct and act and you know he was somebody that we just worship and adore and he was incredibly dedicated wonderful guy and incredible accuracy. A ton people have come through his school and gone on to be successful in work professionally. You know to bury is degrees from larson. Who the things musical theater at. Who max casella was in the binders. They're going to my friend matt mayor. Who is a great actor and and obviously my brother matt and and and you know But not not you know. His success is not even in my mind measured so much in terms of like who was successful learned from him but everybody who tobacco. The vast majority of us were made better for ad. He was somebody that i thought about a lot. When i was doing the vinai things. I thought i mean the way back because i thought you know if you have somebody young person particularly at that critical stage as a teenager. Who really guides you and fosters your development. It's it can make a massive difference in your alive from with the most single most important moments in my professional life was around graduation. I was finishing school. And jerry asked to talk to me in his office and thousand trouble and i went in there and say hey i just want you to know you know If you make the choice. I you know. I think you can do this. I believe in you. I think you can be successful and for what seemed like a long time. You know seven years or something of a lot of rejections struggle and getting turned down a million of those words kind of kept me going. The fact that this guy who i admired so profoundly believed in me was enough to keep me going and i can't say enough about how important he was to me. Yeah so one. Other thing that i guess sort of started before college and only because i guess it kind of is a thread that again will connect with the way back. I think this may have even been pre jerry becker at the same time as jerry stuck. I think your mom sent you to a camp for teens right. what was that about. I'll tell you what i made some money. You know about eight thousand dollars or something for me. It was not a high paying gig and It was put into an account that was supposed to be for my college modeling when i was a teenager. At my father's alcoholism was quite severe. You know he. He made some bad choices that you do as an alcoholic which i've come in my later years to understand and appreciate and recognize for for. They are a but it was a mistake and he he was working. As a janitor he acheron he fell down. He smashed up. God fire couldn't pay his ran and asked me for money he asked me to basically pay pays rankings bills And i figured out how to crack into this trust fund that trust. Because i didn't perr. It was money that was because it's college bound by talking local woman who is a notary signing something for me take it to the bank in any way got access to the money spent the money mostly on on giving it to my dad ran but also some out like you know like pizza beer games dumb shit so went through pretty fast and when it ran out. I didn't want to tell my mom that i might get my dad and trump and drugs and send me to like We were you've summer experience on the colorado river. Were you like a week living alone. It was horrible aided but I did it i. It was like me a bunch of other troubled kids which just means like lassos and you on a river. that wasn't even the grand canyon and And yet so. I went to a experience for troubled youth teenager. Well obviously Came out of that and it comes time for college. Matt goes off to harvard. You initially i know off to university of vermont. Then after a few months left there and ultimately went for a few more months to occidental. And i think that that was a bad experience but one that you seem to have taken some inspiration from because i guess the they were not receptive to your form of creating right. Yeah that's fair to put it. Basically what happened was Making good decisions than i was always making blunders seemed liked back grades i was. I was surprised. I was having problems at home. I was cutting school. I didn't do very well traditionally in school Not that i ever let. It made me think. I wasn't smarter than that because i was despite the harvard but he went to harvard and then had and then i went to you vm. Because i was i loved. My school girlfriend followed her. And when i got there and it was miserable on. I was just really depressed than talk this eight this i wanna do. I wanna do so. I moved to l. a. packed. Stop and you know when you're eighteen. You're just like stupid and naive enough to think that that's actually a good idea. Just like throwing up in a bag. Los angeles even though you like. You're doing anybody so i did. And then my mother was like. I really want you to you know. Try going to college. So i did. Some kind of independent study continuing off. Campus type Continuing education that occidental. College a college of which For a brief time. I think maybe i was the most famous alumni. Until marach seen obama's elected president was permanently eclipsed but I and i and i major much of stuff. I think work history and middle eastern studies in america american history major which kind of came in handy for for reo. And i was also english. Major and matt. Let's time i left harvard in eagle rock where we were living and before school. There was no like ours combo stores. All washed away by a series of critically demolished films especially two thousand four's jersey girl and two thousand five jelly and the tabloids relentless coverage of his relationship with his co star in those films jennifer lopez and yet he clawed his way back to respectability with a humble character part in two thousand six hollywood land and an impressive directorial debut with two thousand. Seven's gone abie gone followed by two thousand ten's the town and two thousand twelve argo. The last of which was awarded the best picture oscar meaning and buying return to the oscars podium for its director. Fifteen years after he was last there however in the years since his standing fell once again. Thanks to surprising. Decision to take. On the role of batman in several dc universe films which then underperformed his first bomb is a director two thousand and sixteen live by night and a battle with alcoholism that contributed to the end of his marriage to jennifer garner forced him into rehab and left many doubting. The forty eight year old and discussed his difficult childhood and how high school acting teacher wound up serving as something of a surrogate father for him giving him the confidence to pursue his dreams of becoming a professional actor how he endangered wound up writing goodwill hunting and convincing hollywood to make it with them in the main roles thereby launching their careers how he navigated newfound celebrity the benefit period his personal struggles and the many times when people have written him off why he took on the part in the way back which hit very close to home and how he feels about it now plus much more and so without further ado. Let's go to that conversation..

"ben affleck" Discussed on The Big Picture
"With the idea of like putting on a play putting on a production and. Making a film and that was the whole idea kind of behind argo was and it was a back door love letter to movie making I. Don't know that you can make a straightforward love letter to movies even with Chinatown even though. I would say that when people are like man, they don't make them like they used to why can't we just have that mid budget adult trauma with a little bit of genre of sprinkled on top of it like this is the platonic ideal of that. This is the talk like Chinatown is the movie I think a lot of people think of when they're like I wish they made them like that now. So how do you make a film about that? Also, film that most people still hold in really high estimation. How do you make a movie about that while still being honest about what happened in and around the making of that film, and that's what Sam Watson's book Kinda gets into going to be a tall task be fascinated to see what he does. This has inspired an idea for this conversation though which is that the kinds of movies that we wanna see that are like movies that Ben Affleck is making. So the making of a certain kind of movie is a well-worn documentary trope. We know we know about the apocalypse now making of, we know about say burden of dreams Fitzcarraldo making of I was curious what movies you'd want to see the making of a narrative feature form. Yeah. So we both picked a few WHA-. Give me what's what's on your mind with us? Well, you tease me a little bit there with apocalypse now. So I'M GONNA, go this number one but what I'm actually going to say is I wanNA, see a narrative film about the making of hearts of darkness, which is Eleanor Coppola documentary about the making of apocalypse now and really tells. The story of marriage it's the story of being the partner with a tortured created dean genius. It's a story of excess and it's a story of making one of the great. War Films of all time may give this right here cast.

Legend. Viviana. A. Welcome. Back. Welcome where we are so excited to have you hundred GonNa Flirt with you. The entire show get prepared for them. Time Vivica just walked taping. That works for me baby just a little. Just a little took us. Describe my style of flirting. So this is. My God I'll. Little tickle we can get started now. All Right Ben Affleck was just banned from arm his upcoming James Bond Premiere at least that's what the tabloids are claiming. It's probably total but supposedly bond producers are afraid the couples pedia will overshadow the movie and Daniel Craig's okay. They have like a you've obviously you're a lot more famous than both hundred and I combined you too many movie premieres yet we like it. It's a big win for us tonight on nightly pop. If you going to an event and for movie you were in and producers said, listen you're man can't come how do you handle that challenge? Cry. Let's start right there. We've never look here. Work showed up gave as our how I not shining I. If this is true is totally unfair. Why does the girl not have to shot because she's in a grid we? Away from. She has died. He has done for them hunter. What do you think about if you could not bring me to a movie premiere as a standing date for you because your girl canceled? Would you be asset? That's okay with me and I think if they really don't want Ben Affleck showing up, put it in a city that doesn't have Dunkin donuts. I guarantee you. Not Going. There for some reason I mean honestly I have to say I don't know why I'm leaning towards this being true but I sort of believe it. I kind of feel like this sort of makes sense I mean I don't know if Ben Affleck is going to overshadow Daniel Craig's something about them always walking those. Dogs which I Got? Every day. Why it's always just so staged feeling for some reason I I do believe. I kind of believe that they're like listen just leave your boyfriend at home or moving on. While Shirley's there and knows what she wants when it comes to a relationship and the first rule is she's not going to live with anybody you guys. She recently told the mirror that she's not sure that she could live with somebody again and that he may have to buy the house next to her. She's just too old for this. Like it okay. I just want a new. And nobody's coming up here running thing but me so I'm all with their Charlie's let them know when it's happening to come over and do the deed. With after other than that stale ass next door right you. My God. First of all, my type of woman this is Great Vivica. I'm happy to buy any house near Your House I'm going GonNa have to save up a little bit but I can do it and then seconds I see where they're coming from but it also feels like Charlie's is coming from a place of she hasn't had healthy relationships lately maybe or she hasn't found that person you do want to live with I. Think we all kind of think that after we go to break, we're like no more of the opposite sex ever again taking that much of my personal mind and then raging you find someone. And you can grow with and maybe they start outside the house maybe eventually you're like, Hey, let's have toothbrushes in the same room. Let's try that out for a little while. Yeah, I feel like with Charlene I think that also when you are single for such a long time, you kind of get set in your ways and just having the idea of someone come in and just rearranging things becomes really daunting and just quite frankly really annoying and to be honest Shirley's does not need to settle. She doesn't need to do anything that is inconvenient for her at all. So like I. Totally under understand her mindset of like I don't. Yeah. Come over when you need to do the deed otherwise I don't need to be moving my cashmere sweaters for you to put your jeans and the next door take your time says the girl that got engaged in seven months. I was like, all right give it to me okay Brian. Austin. Green is getting defensive about dating multiple women after his split for Meghan Box Ryan was on the Hollywood raw podcast you listened to that a lot right with DAX holt an atom. Glenn where he said he isn't playing anybody but the whole point of dating is to talk to several people at once. What people normally do when they get out of something is they date they they talked to multiple people at once I'm not playing anybody like this is. My life is just is much more under a microscope. Let me ask you. So should he have to tell the woman? He's dating that he's seeing other people I'm GONNA ask Hunter Africa's I can't wait to hear the assay. I appreciate honesty to be very honest with you in their plans. Call dating onto someone says it's meeting. You is called dating I. Think the biggest problem is when it's rubbed in other people's faces
Ben Affleck won't let face mask stop him from smoking
"Of Ben Affleck I hate to laugh about this but it is sort of funny so he's trying to do the right thing by being out and about and wearing a mask on his face so sad but he smoking so yes the mask up over his nose but then he has his mouth out so that he can have a sig for what no no no that's not blue brain do it right now if you're gonna smoke signals do it in private like every other celebrity because nothing Israel everybody
"The Way Back" Actor: Will Ropp
"Next guest performance as Kenny Dawes number. Eleven in the way back directed by Gavin O'Connor and starring Ben Affleck is easily one of my favorites of twenty twenty. Please welcome the very talented will. Rob will thanks so much for coming on the show today. Aloe thank you for having me. I am so I am like your performance moving beyond belief. I'M GONNA get there but I think you have a story before this movie because you certainly have an interesting life. I mean I've I read where you were born in Connecticut. You know I wanNA see right up until sixteen. I live near. I live in Massachusetts so obviously were bordering Connecticut. What part of Connecticut? Where did you grow up in Connecticut? I grew up in Gary and so I I was there until I was about Sixteen and then. I went to boarding school in Florida. Okay and how did you like Connecticut for the time you were there? It was good it was you know I I I had some great friends there and I I really focused on baseball. Growing up like baseball was kind of being on baseball and feeder. Like you're always Kinda. Took the background baseball. Baas barring up And it was kind of once. I went to Boarding School in Florida that I realized that like Florida Day Falls Different Than Connecticut. Baseball and slowly realised that me Mike. Utah's knock knock out the way I wanted it to. And so that was a blessing in disguise and kind of put Peter in the forefront In the front seat and Yeah from there and went to the University of Michigan. Yeah no but Connecticut was great. I love it actually. Many friends Aaron I try to do that is often if possible. Newhaven new haven is the king the King City for Pizza. I think in the United States I mean Yes oh my God. It's phenomenal but that's neither here nor there. But I have to say so the school you. You're talking about in Jacksonville Florida. I hope I'm pronouncing it correctly. Was it called bowls correct yet. And that's where you kind of I mean you you have teacher want hope. I have this right. Move a teacher named LAURA REPELS. We'll have that incorrect. Yeah ripple rickel ripple and she really kind of says you know what this kid can act and she's not saying she's not saying it's huge like make you feel better or give you something to do in your off time. She's saying like you could make a living doing this. You're this you're that good so that had to mean a lot to you and just talk a little bit about that moment in your life if you will I mean I mean we're riffle She's my probably the first person that told me. Yeah just I bet I could I after genuinely like do you think I could do this as a profession and she gave me a genuine answering said yet And so I I always respected for that and always will and and we did so many shows together in In high school and she just kind of. I think you know like I was saying that. Baseball is a different level in Florida feeders. Also different level in Florida. It's the congress I think. Cheater get more funding in the North East so When I was in Connecticut I was used to these huge production. The knees you know a a you know a ton of talent department and then I went to Florida and it was kind of like it was it was more. It's just a little less funded. You know black people interested in it More people are interested in sports. Obviously so Paul Basketball Baseball and And so I kind of kind of woke me up and I was like oh I didn't know that not every school puts on fantastic productions and so in a way kind of opened my eyes little to To what you know where I kind of fat in the in the pecking order talent wise or whatever and from there she she kind of got me ready for all my college Acting Auditions I. I applied to be a A. Bfa activator in school. And in order to do that you have to Prepare a bunch of monologues. And it's a it's a tree rear s Solution that you have to go through. And she she got me ready for that and she kind of was was one of my main mentors and encourages That that ultimately got me in Michigan and Michigan ultimately got me where 'em how was your time at Michigan. I feel like reading about your amazing. Yeah greeting about your life. Will there was a couple of interviews where there was mentioned of adversity and tough times? Did you experience a lot of that growing up my mother when I was Thirteen yes. That was probably you know. The trouble is the biggest adversity And you know I am one of five children. So you know my siblings. They was on the second oldest. So when something like that happens. It's tough on a fairway and it's tough on you know my father and So you know kind of siblings at the for each other and you know Kinda rallies through it and And Yeah I think we cannot be other end Eventually you know. Will you know will never stop? The grieving is a process. That never stops so. I think that'll continue. You know continue happening but Yeah I think that's probably my biggest adversity that's happened so far It was tough and I have to believe she would be so proud of of what you've become the man you've become. I mean my God. Yeah your family in itself. I mean I think your mom is well I mean they were all musicians right. Will I mean these? These are talented people that you've Kinda grew up round. Do I have that part right? Yeah well Line Graham Law Louise. She caught a choir stuff prior like thirty years or forty years and in and she still sings in her church choir. You know she plays piano and then my dad. When factum monthly clarinet I played trombone. Kind of a little bit of a band merged throwing up played trombone in jazz band and concert band. I was in court as well And then my sister played the violin. Really well my little brother is a is a singer. Songwriter My sister Susie. She's a college Lacrosse player. But before that she played the base for a little bit very little known fact about people don't notice days for a little bit and then Yeah and then my little if fister Lena we're not sure what instruments you gotta play after a police say man. I you know a lot of times when I prepare for interviews. I like to watch other that. An actor director cinematographer has done and one thing that really impressed me about you and I loved it. A lot of actors will kind of try to put themselves over I. I can't remember the interview but it was. It was about twenty seven minutes. You're with two other cast mates. I think Charles was one the other one was. And you put them over like you were like. Hey what do you think or they were like. You never made it about you. You always made it about them. And it's so I mean I could tell you mentioned family earlier. That's just such a family kind of thing to do in such a classy thing to do you. Were putting them over before you. Kinda of were putting yourself over. I thought that was a really selfless thing and I don't. I don't see that often. I have to tell you.
Movie Review: "The Way Back."
"Today's movie is the way back directed. By Gavin O'Connor who's also done warrior the accountant miracle three phenomenal movies. Starring Ben Affleck movie clocks in an hour and forty eight minutes The way back is about a high school basketball. Who just walks away from the game and I'm being vague in general here on purpose. I don't WanNa ruin any key plot points for you just walks away from the game Forfeits his future years later. He kind of reluctantly takes this coaching position. Basically a shot at redemption and The movie goes from there. And from the if you've watched the movie trailers which are great you know it has the Bon Iver Song heavenly father by did some great work in the movie the judge to Great Band but I also have to say you know The movie is about Ben. Affleck ALCOHOLISM RIGHT. That's the centerpiece of the movie. And there's so much to digest here hoping yet in under twenty minutes I think again. So you'll affleck. Has this unique ability to show pain To show hurt This is also around the time when they were filming this that in Ben Affleck's personally if he was undergoing very similar consequences very similar scenario to Jack Cunningham. We portrays in the movie. You know the alcoholism struggling with life. And there's A. There's obviously a story behind the alcoholism began. I don't I don't WanNa ruin that for you so I in a way. The movie is split into two. It's Ben Affleck's alcoholism in his coaching of this basketball team. His High School basketball team. That hasn't won him play or been in the playoffs. I WANNA say since nineteen ninety four. So that's a huge part too so in a way it's a sports movie What I love about Gavin O'connor is you never loses. Focus of what he wants to do. You look at a movie like warrior yet about 'em but there's so many plot points that are crucial in key and he does not forget about that he could over made it a cheesy anime movie. But that's not Gavin O'Connor style and that's why I love watching his movies. There was another. Yeah the way back is two stories right. It's the story of Ben Affleck's. Alcoholism is the story. The Story of Him coaching the basketball team warrior Kind of like I said a similar scenario but again I love the Way Gavin. O'connor doesn't forget too big issue in the way back is Ben Affleck's struggled with Life Ben Affleck's struggle with alcoholism. That is the main plot point. It would have been so easy in this movie to have a coach find redemption very much like hoosiers where you know winning cures all right. Winning has cured the fact or mask the fact that many of the struggles with some of the characters are now gone Remember the titans did the same thing right. There was some really awful things going on in that. In that time I feel like once the football team started to Mesh together and win that. Well I I. The movie became Disney right when when movie becomes Disney fight. It's like we kind of lose the main plot point and we've now cured everything because the team is now winning. And I'm so happy that Gavin O'Connor didn't take that road again being purposely vague. But you'll see what I mean. He could have easily said you know what this guy makes redemption. He can start. He completes his redemption. He got the team winning again. They win whatever and you know off into the sunset he rides. But that's not the easy way out. That is the easy way out. And that's not the way out. That Gavin O'Connor chose to go with and I'm so happy for that right because the main struggle in this movie regardless of what you see in trailers is not the basketball team. It is Ben Affleck. It has been Affleck's life. It's his ex wife or estranged wife. It's his other family members. That's the main story here and I also like the fact that we all have struggles right. We all have a weakness. We all have something we battle with every day. And I feel like that's why it's so important. That Gavin O'Connor doesn't take the easy way out in this movie right because we all with something. We're all battling something every day and when I watched the way back that's all of that kept going through my head and my little notebook and I take notes when I go to the movies and I'm going to review. You Know He. He really kind of reminds us of what the big picture is. Yeah sports are great. Sports are important. You know in in a time now where we've cancel. They suspended the NBA season suspended the NHL season. We prioritize things. I think in some of these movies and all the wrong ways right humanity is what's important human beings are what's important. Sports are the side stories Sports or not what drives society. That shouldn't be the way. Sports are part of our society. Humanity is our society Gavin O'Connor has given us a window into Ben Affleck's life his struggles. And you know it's pretty quick or as it unfolds. You start to see you know y Ben. Affleck has become an alcoholic. You see why he's turn to its accumulation of a lot of things. It's not one thing it's you know as he's getting older. Yes things happened with his father. Things happened with his family. It's so much like many of us in society right. I mean problems pile up in sometimes. There's not a way out and I'm so happy I I say you know. We are so easy as as movie fans to say. That person deserves an academy award. That's an academy award winning performance on quite truthfully This is Ben Affleck's best movie as far as acting goes as directories done some great things you know Argo. He's done so for not the town. He's done phenomenal things. But as an actor you can even throw in good will hunting. Throw throw everything. This is Ben Affleck's best movie in. It's absolutely phenomenal I gotTa Tell You I. I'm in my seat. I got tears pouring down my face and I'm just blown away by what this man is doing. He's just you know. He is redemption story. Here right he is the one that we're cheering for by the end of the movie and I just love what he does. You're not the only worry I have. Is You know I'm always cheering? I Love Ben Affleck a lot. I really hope he gets the opportunity here to be nominated But I worry because the movies come out like in March and that's almost a year away from the academy. Awards in movies are released early like this or early movie year It's not a great thing Because you know the performances tend to be forgotten. Movies tend to kind of be tend to become distant memories of bit to to the voters. I really hope they don't forget what Ben Affleck did here. He's earned it. It's for a couple of reasons why he's a great actor. But I think we were definitely watching a story about Jack Cunningham. Former Star basketball player. But I also think we're watching a story about Ben Affleck and you know it was his life. I was watching. He was not so much Jack Cunningham. Which makes the performance all that more special That's that's how I kind of perceive it. It is very unique sports movie. I loved it. I've never seen it done like this. The cinematography is so wonderful The way they show you the final scores of games. I've never seen it done this way. Love the way they did. They did that right. You're not watching this game against the team that you don't know anything about. It's very brief. It's builds up over the movie. I love how they graphics they use it. It's just a really well done way to approach you know a progression of a basketball team through season without having to show you know four five entire clips of a basketball game in Mesh them together I really like how Gavin O'Connor that Kudos to the editor this movie The other thing is I love the team of actors. I love the basketball team. The kids work really well together. It's a very eclectic bunch. It's a human bunch right. It's it brings back that in a different way. Obviously but you believe that. They're a team in the same way. When you watch the bad news bears you believe these kids meshed together as a team. They come together as a team. There's so many sports movies where you're not buying any of this is happening right. You're not buying it. They could ever be teammates. You buy it here you it's very. It's very old school in that way. These kids work so well
Court unseals over 1,000 pages of Weinstein documents
"Documents were unsealed now that Harvey Weinstein's trial is over and then we found out that when the national Enquirer was gonna run is story where I guess Jennifer incident claimed or complained about Harvey sexually harassing her he reportedly said in an email Jen Aniston should be killed and he apparently also had this red flag list with a bunch of celebrities on them Ben Affleck was one of those

"My Bathtub. Literally Year devoted to the podcast. Exactly I have the sniffles. I am afraid to come into work in this era. And so I'm joining you remotely from my home podcasting studio which I've created in my bathtub under a large blanket. You truly are an artist and more you truly are thank you. Well a world away a guy who probably has his own home recording studio and doesn't need a bath. Tub Ben Affleck. He just said that his biggest regret in life was divorcing Jennifer Garner. But he's already moved on with another woman. Yeah he he has been spotted with onto armas who you might remember from knives out. She's in the new James Bond movie. And she is Ben's Co Star in upcoming film which is based on a Patricia Highsmith Book and that Movie Comes Out November Thirteenth. Which means on it will be competing with herself. Because James Bond won't be out then on November twenty fifth but the two of them are actually seen together in Havana Cuba. Where on from Yeah. I guess A source told our own Sara Nathan that they were beaming. I saw. Ana Grab Ben's arm as. They walked out together. They looked super happy. She's absolutely stunning. The onlooker thought I totally think they're dating. They were seen shopping. Eddie Trendy T. Shirt store apparently called the KLUNDER Stena. they were also overheard speaking Spanish. Together I do not have that bath last fluid. I know I have to say I'm impressed. That's a pretty baller move like let's have a date in your native van. I'll bust out my fluent Spanish. They're believed to. What were you gonNA say Maggie? I agree that is a baller right. You'd be impressed by that. I would be me. And they're believed to have arrived on Wednesday on the island and dined at cozy eatery called La Korte Clinton. Cpa you're not it's fantasy Senate talion. Let's be like court data plenty pay and they were posing for photos with the chef. Can they were also seen a restaurant called Ivan? Oh the IVAN CHEF. Giusto restaurant we Maggie. Haven't you been one of these places yourself? Well after dinner they went to a place called. FA see Abrika Day. Arctic Kumano and. I was there when I was in Cuba a few years ago. And it's mega cool. It's like a kind of open air art gallery. There's drinks there's music you can walk through different levels. I when I was in Cuba was there for a week and I went twice at this place. That's how great it was. Yeah apparently it's an a former cooking oil factory. I have to say Ben Affleck impressive dating game here. I know so you know the one thing though is if I were the producers of the James Bond movie which on armistice in I would be kicking myself right now because as we reported on one of our last podcasts the James Bond producers had to move the release date by months it was supposed to come out in April and all this prices hitting right now raid. You've got Daniel Craig on the cover of G. Q. Not all the female stars on the cover of various magazines including Vanity Fair And now you've had this huge press bump of Ben Affleck dating one of the leads and I'm sure there would have been a ton of speculation. Would he show up to the premier in London next month and now it's like I don't know? Do you think the press you think this is. I don't know maybe they're hoping the relationship will last or that. They'll just break up right before I mean I'm V debuts in November on the flip side. This is good. Press for him because he has the movie that just opened the way back and I don't think it's doing huge number so this might help. That's a great point. Maggie I think it made about eight point. Five million dollars at the box office and analysts were saying that you know it. It could have stalled out partially because of the corona virus scare as I broadcast to you from under a blanket in a bathtub. But this could kind of help the movie. I mean this does seem like after his trials and tribulations a more sort of together athletic rate. You know kind of this this Cuban date you know. He had opened a he. He did a whole press tour recently opening up about his divorce from Jennifer Garner but also hit his own battle with alcoholism his character in the movie also struggles with addiction. He told The New York Times. The biggest regret in my life is this divorce. Meaning from Jennifer Garner. Shame is really toxic. There is no positive byproduct of shame. It's just stewing in a toxic toxic hideous feeling of low self worth and self loathing. But this I'm actually happy for Ben Affleck like this. This date in Havana seems much more sort of like wholesome and productive than some other stuff. He's been involved in recently like when he was stumbling around On Halloween and had a relapse which sent him back to Rehab. Right and let's not forget he was dating. Lindsey shook us from SNL for what like a year? And now that's right. I don't think we ever saw them. Doing any. International travel together did we. That's a good point. Actually yeah she might. She must be shook shook. Us shook us by this relationship. I mean the other thing though Maggie is. Do you think that this is good timing though to start a new relationship in dawn of the Corona virus scare. Is this a time to be getting close with someone so you can hunker down with them and imminent isolation or should he be keeping your distance and just be like in full body protection with this person the whole time or does this mean that pure l? Has LIKE AN APHRODISIAC like quality? We never thought of before. Now people are just hand sanitizing and falling in love all over the world totally purell intimates. They must really like each other. It's proof of your feelings. If you spend time we'll also you know it's funny because There was a report is well today. "Ben Affleck has a big profile out in the New York Times. And he's saying that his divorce with Jennifer. Garner was the biggest regret of his life. And all I have to say is a Aubin he yeah he messed up. You'll at the best woman in the entire world getaway. Yeah Yeah but better be your biggest regret that better. Be Your biggest regret. And you're someone with the full tattoo but still Jennifer Garner slipping through your fingertips should absolutely be your biggest regret. Ben Affleck. Yeah God I'm so happy that Jennifer Garner isn't the celebrity that I'm feuding with because I feel so protective over her. I love her so much. God thank God. I'm feuding with Chrissy. Teagan my true enemy but back to Ben Affleck's New York Times profile Here's his quote about regretting his divorce with Jennifer Garner in the PC mostly talks about his struggles with alcoholism and addiction and the negative effects that has had on his life. This quote goes like this quote. I drank relatively normally for a long time. What happened was that I started drinking more and more when my marriage was falling apart this was twenty. Fifteen twenty sixteen. My drinking of course created more. Marital problems he then added quote. The biggest regret of my life is this divorce and quote. I think the profile is generally pretty interesting. It's nice to hear Ben. Affleck be super candid about all of this stuff. It made me think I was like. I don't know this piece makes me like Ben Affleck more or if I just know more about him now but it certainly an interesting look into the past. Few years of his life then also opened up about his most recent relapse which happened before his two thousand eighteen. Rehab stint he said quote relapse is embarrassing obviously. I wish it didn't happen a really wish. It wasn't on the Internet for my kids to see JEN. And I did our best to address it and be honest and quote God at Jennifer. Garner is such a good co parent. Love her so much in the article. He also thanked Bradley. Cooper for being one of these stars that helped him get sober. Probably Hooper is like the patron saint of getting a list men to stop drinking and he also put Lady Gaga in a star is born. I mean Bradley. Cooper is truly the king of Hollywood in my opinion Bradley Cooper. Your Saint Love You. I gotta say the best part of this whole article is that Ben. Affleck finally addresses his absolutely enormous back. Tattoo of a Phoenix. He told extra back in the day that it was fake for some reason and the writer of this New York Times piece called him out on that weird lie. Ben explained the lie about the back. Tattoo being fake saying quote. I resented that somebody got a picture of it by spying on me. It felt invasive. But you're right I could have said that's none of your business. I guess they got a kick out of messing with extra. Is Your Tattoo real or not real? Of course it's real. No I put a big tattoo on my back and then hid it and quote. See Ben Affleck is a little stinker. I knew it. I don't forgive you Ben. You Hurt Jen. You're a little stinker. You lied about your Tattoo to be a little stinker. It you have to say the most defensive part of the whole interview is when the writer from the New York Times says that the back Tattoo was not nearly as Garish in person and quote A. Sure Okay Not Garish. It's just a giant colorful phoenix. That goes from the bottom of his neck all the way down to his butthole but sure. Yeah that's not garish in person. Yeah it's totally not garish in person..

"Game he played it was just lights out. You know and they've never been super great at surrounded except for the Randy Moss Jere. Of course they broke all the records and if he had had receiver like that. I think you'd see eight nine super bowls you know with what you know about Tom in the way that you know him. Do you think there's a part of him? That wants to prove that he could do it without bill belichick. He's not said that's me and I have asked him quite a bit about bill belichick because bill check is an easy guy to develop opinions about it but if it were me if I were bill belichick or if I were Tom Brady. There would be a part of me. That would be wondering like ooh. Could I do it myself? Can I really be? There's definitely you gotTA remember Belgium coach Cleveland and had a losing record right so there is that fact that exists but he's also genius. He's out coached a lot of people and he's done an amazing job and they seem to be uniquely well suited to working together. So it's sort of like you know maybe Robin thinks he could do it without Batman but you know what I mean. I don't want to stick together. I've never had a person who actually played Batman. Say That to me before. But that's all a whole other thing very quickly because I have interview enough to know. You are a legit. Sports Fan Ben. Affleck genuinely cares about this stuff if brady winds up somewhere else and they play the Patriots with Brady being the most beloved. I think he has surpassed like Bob or Larry Bird Right. He's at the most beloved player in history. Yes penske if he plays them in the Super Bowl who are you in Damon? Sitting there rooting for him. It would be a terribly terribly painful moment. I don't I don't know who the Patriots would put together to compete against a team with Tom. Brady has the quarterback or that they would be making any super bowls. They didn't make the Super Bowl with Tom. Britain nastier they would need to do some rebuilding. It'd be very hard for me to really get Tom. He's made Fans New England very happy over very many years. Not only the Super Bowl but always getting. They're always getting close always being great. You never watched. The pats allow. This will never happen. That is a very unique fan experience. You know what I mean to jets.

"Institutions or obtain a waiver from the NCAA so wanted to assemble panel of great minds. Here Doris for joining us. Jalen again and and auto and guys. It seems like we've already seen the big ten. Do this these conferences are coming out and saying that they're going to allow these one year. Transfer Exemptions Jalen. We need to see more conferences doing this. But what's your initial thought on seeing a little more power given to players I appreciate it and I'm happy about it and if you're the NCAA you have to continue to do things to make your product more attractive especially when NBA players. In the next couple of years. It's going to be able to go straight from high school to the pros and now there's so many international options when coaches get hired or fire. They can go get another job and I know that the transfer portal was really instrumental in college football. You see a lot of college quarterbacks that it changed destinations and have been impact players so I have no problems with the rule. I think is something that they should continue to build upon and I think more conferences are going to follow suit. It's the right thing do you cannot say. Athletes are equal when every other sport has had this option on the table for years. And then you say the five major sports can't do it so it's the right thing but my first question was what was the impetus so I reached out to Jay Bilas. Who's got the best pulse on this? He believes they may be punting on this issue to take a harder stance on name image and likeness their issues that intersect. It's a rabbit hole. I don't want to go down but it's an interesting thing that something. They felt so strongly about for such a long time. They've now wanted on. It is the right decision. It's the right thing to do and it's the smart thing to do you talk about the college football playoffs this year. Let's focus on the sport that we're discussing Jalen. Jalen hurts justin fields. Joe Borough all transfer quarterbacks that was the highest level the highest product college football put out all year and all. Those three players were transferred quarterbacks. And then it would alleviate so much of the issues on the controversy. We have around coaches leaving. My main issue around coaches being able to depart on a moment's notice is that the players can't do the same thing so not only. Is it the right thing to do to doors this point? It's also the smart thing to do and it's interesting. Greenie the former player to see the power shift. That's what's intriguing. The part of this that and it's written on the bottom of the screen and lower read it but I don't think you can say it enough times. These are rules only apply to football men's basketball women's basketball baseball and men's ice hockey. So there is no logically consistent way to suggest that this is not a business which the NC double a. has to consistently tell you but then tell you we have set. Aside special rules for the sports exclusively for the sport wind up generating revenue. There was such inconsistency in that that I actually had a hard time reading the store yesterday without laughing in other words I wanNA have control over the athletes that make the most money for the university doesn't really if you really WANNA. Here's what here's the thing that kills green wasn't actually upset until you read. That brings it all back to the forefront of the table it's the NCAA is trying to continue to massage all of our eyes and convince us that the sports amateur. When there's nothing amateur about the sport they just have different rules in play to try to keep it as amateur. That's why you don't WanNa have transferring allowed because it's more like a free agency type of more the fact that both the ACC and the big ten of come out with unanimous. I think is really important to this. Is something that will continue to see these conferences. Do and the more that happens the less power the NCAA has okay. Tom Brady is as synonymous to New England as the old North Church and lobster rolls. I love lobster rolls. What happens if he leaves the Patriots and that is keeping Ben Affleck up at night.

"It sounds like you've moved onto the talking about whether or not Henry cable is still superman. Yeah. I mean is he still superman? I mean, Ben Affleck, not Batman. So who knows but they have wonder woman's they need to keep wonder woman. I guess aquaman now. I mean, don't forget Steiberg they'll keep him to now there. We're never going to hear cyborg ever. Most popular character from Justice league. I read a whole dissertation about it. Whenever whenever I go out. I always see kids wearing with like cyborg, backpacks and shirts hearing his signature phrase robot smash. Hey, I liked as Miller as as the flash. And I. I mean, you gotta admit like you'd much rather. See more Ezra Miller flash movies than him in in fantastic beasts, right? Oh one hundred percent. But okay, now, we go back to the Ben Affleck as Batman first second. I do want to say that. I actually really liked Ben Affleck as Batman I feel like the performances in both those movies, which I know get a lot of crap like the movies as a whole. But I think Ben Affleck in Henry bull in gal. You know, the the whole group actually turned out pretty good performances as characters in not so great movies. And I was really interesting. I'm a fan of Aflac as director, I would have been really interested to see him direct, a Batman movie. But you know, what? I'm more interested in that Reeves directing at superhero movies. So I mean, what are you guys since this is like the, you know, the last will ever talk about this crisp. What are you have to say of the loss of Ben Affleck as Batman, you know, I'm right there with you. I actually think Ben Affleck did the best he could with the character. I'm not a fan of Batman v superman or Justice league. But I do think especially in bet maybe superman, I really liked the idea of this. Bidder. Zena phobic Batman like Batman was pretty much like the villain in that movie. And I kind of liked that idea, and I liked how Ben Affleck played him as this total asshole. But at the same time the script was really bad and the script Justice league. It was even worse. So I think Ben athlete did the best he could with really shitty material..

So I've been doing this thing called hashtag saved Ben on my Instagram stories for. I don't know this started maybe you're ago you can actually go.
