"Axios this morning, Mike Allen's site, the inside the beltway publication, Biden's win streak, one big thing, Biden and the Democrats are riding wave of good news, it's so great right now. Somebody said yes, I saw somebody the other day. He said, you know, that's like you weigh 400 pounds. And you lost 15 and you say, look how skinny I am. That's like saying that, well, you know, I'm ravaged by some skin disease all over my body, but on my left thumb, it's clearing up a little bit. So now I'm in good shape. Good news. Consumer price index, 8.3%, inflation is still soaring, crime is still roaring, the borders are still surging with illegals, they've got a crap storm going on in major American cities

Who's Your Special Master

"There is another in the endless series of leaky stories and anti Trump stories law stories in the media. Finding special master and Trump classified documents case no easy task, legal experts say. Okay, so whenever I see legal experts, it's the people they call that. All right? Who they called up? Finding people have the necessary experience and security clearances to handle the highly classified documents. And the willingness to enter the political brush fire surrounding the probe will be no small task. Legal experts said, that's just nonsense. It's absolute nonsense. The number of people inside the beltway who are very good lawyers and have ongoing clearances for a variety of reasons, whether they are working on classified defense programs, whether they are defending people in espionage cases and have done so before, whether they are involved in surveillance case. Just remember, we have all sorts of lawyers in America and there are a bunch of them that have security clearances. And wouldn't blink at being a special master.

The GOP Whip Race in the House

"Beltway has many, many competitions within it right now. One is underway to become the minority whip and a new House Republican majority should that come to pass. Kevin McCarthy, the speaker, Steve scalise, the majority leader who would be the whip. Many people think it will be at least, but I think Elise Stefanik wants to be chairman of education and labor and razor national profile. Whip is an inside game. Jim banks of Indiana is my favorite candidate for that and it turns out David drucker was doing some reporting and he finds out Jim banks campaigning for it. What do you say, David, good morning? Morning hill. Yeah, I was in Iowa over the weekend and Jim banks was just outside of Cedar Rapids. Speaking at an event, we're actually Henson, a freshman representative from that part of the country. And he's traveling all over the place. And of course, this is what you do when you want to try and build a majority, win in November, but also when you want to try and collect chips and votes for a leadership election that will occur after election day. And of course, Republicans need to win the majority for this slot to open up, but I spent a little time with banks. And he talked about how he's used the job. What do you think is Kevin McCarthy as a potential speaker? And how he thinks a Republican majority will function if they can win and remember again, it's the problem you want, but winning these majorities, especially when they're still going to be a Democrat in The White House and the Senate, even if Republicans win the majority without 60 votes, it can be very challenging.

Axios Calls Mar-a-Lago Events a 'Search,' Not a 'Raid'

"The search since the search and the search to the search. Hey, Mike Allen. You want the FBI? Rifling through your shock drawer? You got to call that a search. Some search. They could obtain any document generated during the four years of the Trump presidency. Any document, what the heck kind of search is that? What the heck kind of warrant does this judge think he can issue that anything that they get to find? They just get to keep. They can take anything, including three of his passports, and then they lied about it, said they didn't take the passports until they it was proven that they did. This whole thing reeks. And everybody knows it reeks. It stinks to high heaven. So here's this inside the beltway publication and like I always say, don't trust anybody inside the beltway. And I mean anybody. Do not trust anybody inside the beltway. But here's an insight. This is as insider, a media source as you'll ever read, axios. Since the search, Trump is once again at the center of attention. He has once again been able to align his own personal grievances with the Republican base that a deep state bureaucracy is out to get him. Well, no kidding, because you know why? The Voters of Wyoming Shouted Against Liz Cheney

"There's nothing, there's no gray area here. The voters of Wyoming didn't just speak, they shouted. And what they shouted was that the January 6th select committee that Liz Cheney has been chairing is a scam. What they shouted is you can't live in Virginia and pretend to be from Wyoming. And be an inside the beltway establishment political hack. Who has become obsessively fixated on Donald Trump? And the fall of Liz Cheney is pretty astonishing.

Liz and the Beltway

"Top story today is coming from Wyoming where Liz Cheney is now Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant all rolled up into one for losing a primary election. Wait a minute, let me check my notes on that. Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses grant for losing a primary election. Dwayne, these notes are terrible Dwayne. How is Liz Cheney Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant for losing a primary election? Well, as our friend Kurt schlichter said on Twitter last night, after she compared herself to grant, he said, well, at least grant served. You know, it just, I think we talked about it a little bit to go off air, which is that concession speech is largely a good example of why she lost. It really is. I mean, and this is part of the beltway obsession, lecture series. I guess that Liz Cheney has been on for the past year and a half. I mean, almost the entire term that she's been sort of focused on this, and it's because January 6th, of course, took place at the very start of the term. So that's part of what this is what's going on here. But this is a person who's clearly lost touch with Wyoming. She is fully invested in what's going on in the beltway, and Wyoming voters that got a chance to weigh in on it. Yeah, yesterday. The takeaway is Wyoming voters don't care about the one 6th committee. They want to know about inflation. They want to know about the same issues that everybody else cares about. And she doesn't seem to give any voice to normal issues. There's only one issue with her. And they just got tired of it. Now

The Republican Anger Over the FBI Raid

"A full board of calls here. I have seen so much intense and unyielding anger among people at what the FBI did. It's not transitory. It's not superficial. It is deep. It is all consuming. These people are furious because they believe they're constitution has been betrayed. Do the people inside the beltway have any conception of just how angry people are in response to this Mar-a-Lago warrant nonsense. Well, I'm not sure if people I think the question that people, I think what people inside the beltway are trying to figure out. And your question is very valid question. I think when people are trying to figure out is who is angry, where are they and who's happy and where are they? And when you put all those together into a voting electorate in the midterm elections, how does that shake out? I am not at all surprised that Republican voters were voters who tend to vote Republican or voters who vote as long as Trump's on the ballot are upset about this. There are also a lot of democratic voters who are not or who have felt for almost two years at Merrick Garland, the attorney general has been way too timid in dealing with Trump and other Republican mouthpieces as they see it. And so whenever an event like this happens, I like to see how all of this shakes out. Often people inside the beltway and this all sorts of things. So if they're missing this, we're missing this wouldn't be the first time. But I don't think people on aware. I just think people are trying to figure out how to put it together in such a combination that they can figure out whether or not it's going to affect the midterm elections and beyond. Well,

President Trump Wants to Clean up the Swamp

"There is a crazy story over at axios, and if this is true, then I think Donald Trump should be reelected in a landslide. So, according to the reporting of axios, and this is Jonathan Swan, and he's got some pretty good. He has some pretty good Intel, some pretty good insight into what's going on. Inside the beltway. Trump allies are preparing to do a complete overhaul of the federal government. Now, one of the reasons it's easy to forget these little nuggets, but they're important nuggets. One of the reasons why the establishment Republicans despised Donald Trump and especially Liz Cheney is because Donald Trump was cleaning out the swamp in Washington. Liz Cheney's father is one of the largest swamp creatures. I mean, the guys making tens of millions of dollars on these government contracts and the military industrial complex it's unbelievable the amount of money that Dick Cheney has made as a result of his connections in federal government. And president Trump was eliminating all of that. He was, he went in there and he started getting rid of as many swamp creatures as he could the problem is. And anybody who lives in Louisiana, you folks in Lafayette Louisiana, you know all about this, the swamp. You got tons of though, you got the snakes and you got the crawfish and the alligators. All sorts of critters down there. Not to mention swamp thing. So there was a lot of work to be done, and the president was not able to finish the job. Well, according to axios, if Trump goes back in and is president of the United States, they are going to implement a policy that is going to immediately terminate the employment of thousands, if not tens of thousands of government workers in Washington, D.C..

How the Media Elite Discounted Trump Voters

"Is a column today in The New York Times by Brett Stevens on what he was wrong. Most wrong about Trump voters. And I believe it's because Manhattan beltway media elites don't have any connection with America's middle class. And I mean, everybody on every public course everywhere, 9 out of ten are going to come from America's great middle class. You agree with my proposition. I agree. And Catholic schools, you're going to run into all kinds of people, even embarrassed in Georgia, even at Kennedy and worn Ohio. They're going to have a cross section because that's what Catholic schools are. Agree? Agreed. So Brett today says, I just didn't get Trump voters. It's the second admission against interest. The first was by Peggy noonan. I don't know if you've had a chance to read it yet, but I think it's a very important admission by Brett about what America media elite have gotten wrong about Trump voters. Have you read it yet? I read it. I did. What did you think about it? Well, I think he's right. I think there was a lot of folks who missed all of that. And as it was happening in 2016, there was just a discounting of a whole kind of section of the population.

Every candidate that we backed and every measure that we backed either one or our leading, most significantly, the San Francisco electric tossed out the Soros prosecutor, chase boudin, and I mean chase a boudin. They tossed him way out. They drop kicked in. So far out of the city by the bay, they are sick to death of having, oh, that's not a crime. I'll go take $950 if you want prosecutor. Oh, no bail. They are sick to death of it in Phoenix and sick to death of it in Philly. They're sick to death of it in LA. Rick Caruso won the first past the post, but he didn't get the 50%. I didn't think that was possible, but he will be the prohibitive favorite in the fall. Karen Bass is very nice 68 year old lady who just could not handle LA's disasters any more than the person sitting next to you on the bus this morning could. They just don't have the skills that she's been in Congress talking to herself and 8 Democrats for forever. Rick Russo is a developer and he is chairman of the board of the UFC and all that stuff. He's going to win and maybe LA has a chance.

All the way over to Pittsburgh and up to Erie, and I encourage everyone to go and vote for David McCormick for the United States Senate. I also think Lou Bart, let barletta is a much easier to elect candidate. I don't think mister mastriano can win. I know David McCormick can win. I don't think any of the other people can win if you're going to vote for Kathy. Barnett, or Doctor Oz, I think you were throwing your vote away because they can't beat John fetterman. And this election matters so much because if McCormick doesn't get the nomination, we're going to have a very hard time getting the Senate back. In Republican hands and then confirmation of Supreme Court Justices will remain in Chuck Schumer's hands. The opportunity to break the filibuster will remain in Chuck Schumer's hand. It's vitally important to elect David McCormick. The bronze star recipient graduate of West Point grew up outside of Pittsburgh. He built business in Pittsburgh, built jobs in Pittsburgh. He's a Pittsburgh. And so this goes against migraine to say nice things about a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. "You know, we were talking in the break here about just how out of touch this Democrat party feels. I mean, you've got secretary Yellen there, basically parroting lines from market singer. I mean, obviously the founder of Planned Parenthood. I mean, this is, they're so out of touch, and I think you had a really good take on that. You live in the swamp amber. Why are they so just brazenly tone deaf? To me, the Biden administration and its most public facing officials are just the stereotype of the D.C. rich white liberal who is so insulated from people who live average lives and have struggles that they are in this bubble with each other and they focus on these really strange issues that really don't resonate for most people who live in the country. They're the type of people who have the sign outside of their house that says, you know, in this house, we believe Black Lives Matter and science is real. And then they have a Ukraine flag hanging up above their door. And meanwhile, they live in neighborhoods where they've probably never even met a black person besides somebody who might come to their house to deliver a UPS package. This is the type of person that we have put in the Biden administration. And they're in charge of making policy for the rest of the country, even though they have no idea the types of lives that most people live outside of this little beltway area.

So I let me look at what the total percentage of on the doubt was 3.12% on the S&P, it was three and a half percent on the NASDAQ. It was 4.99%. The Amazon was down almost 5% itself. And I'll tell you what, it's probably going to go on for a while. Because the market knows the fed meets every couple of months and is going to raise interest rates a half point every time they meet until such time as inflation is broken because every single person that inflation is the enemy here. And don't worry, if you're unless you're a speculator and you're selling puts and calls. And that's just gambling. I'm not sure Robinhood kiddo, who thought, you know, I was going to make a fortune by trading GameStop and AMC. You expect this and you grim and bear it. "We spent 50 years with a court that has now been just bombarded with an issue that they take up. Maybe in the last 50 years, I took up three to four times. That's it. Yeah, and you're so right. Supreme Court politics have always fascinated me because when a justice is nominated, you immediately go to what have they said on life. What have they written on life? All those types of questions. And it really, to your point, ignores a lot of the other qualifications that you would look for to Supreme Court Justice. I think this is one of Trump's greatest legacies that he was able because in his unique way you know him, I know him. And his unique way, he was able to vet out, you know, people that were really conservatives. And, you know, I've had my complaints about Kavanaugh and Gorsuch, especially. I think Amy Coney Barrett is probably the ideal Supreme Court Justice out of those three that Trump appointed. But, you know, I mean, obviously, I was around in the Bush administration as well. "Reports, this leak stuns America. They say the sweep of the ruling and this is a mainstream inside the beltway publication bear that in mind. The sweep of the ruling is staggering. If this is in fact how the court rules abortion would immediately become illegal in at least 13 states and more would almost certainly follow. New restrictions and other red states would make the procedure difficult to actually obtain even in many places where it might technically remain legal. Do you understand, actually, this isn't even going to touch how unconstitutional roe V wade is. Mainstream media is disdainful of this effort. To overturn roe V wade. Number two, the rulings rhetoric is staggering. The draft isn't necessarily final, but it is labeled as the opinion of the court. It's a full throated, unflinching, repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights, good, good, something that is staggeringly unconstitutional should be staggering in the decision to overturn it. And finally, axios writes, the leak itself is staggering. This is the first time in modern history. That a draft ruling has leaked before the court issued it publicly.

"This is an episode. I've been looking forward to for quite a while for a couple reasons murph. You and i both live in this area. You were here when this happened and we both lived through in a different way than the person we got coming on. But what we're talking about is the take down of. They've had different. Names the beltway sniper the dc sniper malvo and muhammad and what we have with us is jeff nice. Jeff was one of the swat team leaders in montgomery county maryland. That was there. When law enforcement finally took down malveaux and mohammed. So jeff brother. Welcome to game a crimes. Thank you great your beer. you say that. Now wait we start making fun of you. And i'll let me throw to also jeff. Thank you for what you do. That's murphy's all he's got his two cents. He's got no sense otherwise so use what you got. Right to capitalize on your. You got to recognize your weaknesses morgan. Anyway it isn't honored pleasure to have you on your because like mortgage There i was one of those people that was the of duck down at the gas stations. Trying to figure out what we could do. I was still an active agent. They are trying to figure out how are agency could throw in some federal resources to help you guys out which you guys had covered. But it's just the way law enforcement. Is you always want to help right. So it's take my hat off to you brother. Thank you for what you guys did that. Then we'll get into it here just a few minutes get try not to steal all my thunder right up. Front there murphy. We had this plan. It's the drama. We don't want to give the ending a movie away right upfront. Jeez because i like jeff. Let's let's let's talk about you because as we always do when we get started whether it's a crook a criminal a cop and author doesn't matter where it was wanna start off. We'll start off finding out about you. So what you know. What kind of lead you down the path to eventually getting into law enforcement i know you studied criminology. And your you're naved of the area right. I mean so you grew up lived around the montgomery county area. Actually born pensacola florida. But most of my life was in montgomery county. So now i start making the connection to the naval stuff. We'll talk about that in the minute so most of your life in montgomery so so tell us. How did you get into this. Whole law enforcement deal was about fifteen sixteen years old. I live in an apartment complex. And i live in the ground for my dad and upstairs with mike day. He was a police officer. And i've always had great admiration respect for law enforcement and the military and he provided me with a lot direction. You know during those years. And i had a lot of respect for him and he was a great influence during their teenage years. Your teenager to catalog misdirection. He wouldn't be the right direction misdirection as the youth. I can tell you grown up in kansas where there wasn't much to do. I'm surprised i'm still alive at this point. Some of the crap we pulled so so so you started off going to montgomery county community college. What were you going to study at that point. Remember this is not court you can continue to answer. Yes or no sir. Just just keep going on. We're you know this is. This isn't court we haven't sworn yet. So but you went to criminal justice but eventually went to the university of maryland. But you had a decision at some point to make between going into the navy and going into law enforcement so tell us about that. That's a great point. I went to. You're samarrai makes it criminology. And is that university of maryland oscar. My pilot's license now one thing that was kinda need is and we're your pilot's license. You have ticket ground written test so went to a major there who's running or otc probe into the air force and all. His class was not see. I asked him civilian. Come into your class. The guys are good about it. Goes sure come on in. So i came in civilian everybody else dressed in uniform guys really good to me and had the opportunity to study for the test based on what they present and ultimately that allowed me to pass the written. Now get my pilot's license was at university of maryland so when i graduated. I was facially dilemma. Do i want to go in the military to where you want to go into law enforcement. I tried to go to the military. What does this tries to us. So you actually. I mean you took the test though. Yeah what happens. I took the test naval flight school and they came back and said your scores are not high enough to be a pilot. But if you're like we'll put the back seater as a flight officer back. I said no. And that was the right decision because many years later i saw the movie top. Good top in the back seat. And i said i don't remember that. Yeah hey funny. Quick divergent funny story. When i was a detective chair saucer went out to san diego to pick up. a homicide. Suspect is one of the cases. We were working. We had a warrant to pick them up. We're extraditing him. We actually went to casey's bar and grill right there. What's called around horton plaza where that actual episode was filmed for their sad part. Is that thing. I burned down later. But yeah that was yeah. You don't want be goose in the ejector seat there. But i think they call those rios radar intercept operators too. So i had buddies. But that's where the pensacola comes in. So buddy of mine actually went through flight. School at pensacola. Is that where you got your love of it. I mean we're you. Do you remember that when you were young enough that you remember anything the flying down there. Or how old were you when you move from. Pensacola actually to move from pensacola. But i know that cable flex goes down pentacle. My dad was a navy for four years. He was out of pensacola. I tell you that flying thing not to get off track here but back in the seventy s. When i was a cop in southern west virginia buddy of mine and i started taking flying lessons. You know thinking we're going to be these big commercial pilot's well. He actually made it. He went to work for american airlines. Eventually i think he's retired now. Some big mucketty muck from the airlines. But i was doing good until we went to the part where they teach you how to come out of spin and the instructor. He's he's prepping and he's like okay. You ready are you ready. I'm ready. let's go tough go. He put that little piper into spin knob. Crap my pants. I could do anything i was frozen we landed. I think that's the last climb lesson i had say for me. We'll think like this. I took my lessons at freeway airport. Which near nablus. And because cash like flying over the bay bridge and see the naval academy there and so forth but played out for me that did you actually go ahead and go through the process of joining the navy or did you find out since i couldn't do that. Did you. apply for law enforcement than at that time. Yeah i applied for the montgomery county. Police department in maryland and i was selected. I started the academy in nineteen ninety-one. Now i went to the academy. Various awards you went. So i knew when the academic based on what happened the navy. So i sit my focus on winning the physical training word and when i graduate in december of eighty one. One that cool. Where did your physical fitness come from. I mean is that something you always did. Is that something you learn from your dad military stuff. I always had a big edge and exercise. My dad was a teacher when i grew up a test coach at.

"Beltway. Good morning. Well, Good morning, Rick. Do I remember how much the media used to make about polls? And Donald Trump has it going for Joe Biden these days? Hmm? Well, things are a little rocky right now. And let's fight this morning early in the morning. All these numbers from me, But here we go. This is from the tip pole, and everybody needs to know about what the Tipo is. They have been around for three decades, and they offer surveys in politics and economy and so forth. But this is a This is that one poll that has accurately predicted the winner of the last five U. S presidential elections? They're the only folks that have done that. But anyway, they have something called the Presidential Leadership Index. And this is actually an analysis of a couple of different qualities about leadership and so forth and a president. Here's what they have to say. Can President Biden recover from the worst monthly drop in the presidential leadership index in two decades again? This is coming from the tip all the very accurate folks. They released their analysis on Tuesday. They say that their index fell 9.3% points again. This is their index is the combination of Of Poll numbers here and it all worked out to be a 15.8% decline in Mr Biden's ratings and this past former President George W. Bush, who previously held the record at 15.6%, and that was said after the Hurricane Katrina hit United States back in 2000 and five So, according to the tip, all they say President Biden's performance dropped on every single issue we track so not such a good week for Mr Biden. So President Biden had promised this of course, unity and everything was going to be calmed down and we were all going to be happy moving forward. I'm not so sure about that. And even CNN has a question mark on that Well, yes, indeed they do, and they they're talking about Americans themselves, and they had a poll this week that are kind of revealing that Americans are pretty fuming and pretty pessimistic. Right now. They found that 74% of U. U S adults now see that they are very or somewhat angry. About the way things are going in the United States today that includes 88% of Republicans, 70% of independents and even 67% of Democrats against this is a CNN Paul. But wait, Rick, There's more. Another 69% of Americans now say that things are going pretty or very badly in the country these days. That includes 91% of Republicans, 72% of independents and 49% of Democrats that half of them again CNN Paul and, uh, the biggest concern right now is illegal immigration, according to the CNN survey. They said that about three quarters of Americans now say that it is important important that the federal government quote Stops the movement of undocumented immigrants into the United States and a big partisan breakdown on that is 95% of Republicans. 76% of independents and 52% of Democrats agreed with this. And, according to the CNN analysis itself, the tentatively positive public outlet that marked the first month of the Biden administration has faded, and the survey this is just released this week by the rising share of Americans say things in the US are going badly and that the economy is in poor shape with increased worries about coronavirus. The economy and crime against CNN had this this week for all the think about and you know, 11. Other thing came out of CNN this week, which was an essay regarding, um all of these lousy Reviews of President Biden right now, this was coming from huge former advisers to Michael Bloomberg Bill and Hillary Clinton. The gentlemen are Eric Wilson and Bradley Norman, and they wrote a rather significant Essay regarding all of this bad news. Negative news about President Biden certainly unexpected, but here's their take away. And just a few words, they say. Simply put, Biden's mandate was to ensure that Trump would never, ever occupy the White House again and ideally, leave the political stage. We're good. They say. But somehow, the Biden administration seems to have forgotten its mandate to a series of self inflicted wounds. This calculations and gaps that Biden administration is prime ng the pump. For a trump presidency. Part two, so something to think about their and again. This was news from CNN this week. You know you're talking about the border. How about the politics of it between the Republican ideas and the Democratic ideas? Well, certainly The Republican ideas came came across very, very clearly this week because the Republican National Committee issued a very handy summary of what's going on. Down on the southern border, and it's a lot of numbers, but they're very very telling and August and this is coming from the Republican National Committee 208,887 it would be illegal immigrants were apprehended attempting to cross the US Mexico border. This is the highest number for August in 21 years and the second month in a row Rick where the encounters have surpassed 200,000 that is a 317% increase over last August alone. It also noted that 18,847 unaccompanied Children were apprehended during that time and that 18% of migrant families. And 20% of unaccompanied minors are now testing positive for covid in recent weeks, and let's just switch to the border Patrol. I love covering what they do. In addition, the U. S. Border Patrol agencies £1104 of fentanyl and 6 £19,671 of meth and Cena mean in August alone, so Republicans are tracking this probably for all of us because GOP really has a pretty good reality check when it comes to these rather grave matters down Jennifer Harper inside the Beltway of the Washington Times. Of course, you can follow her on Twitter at Harper Bulletin. Thank you very much. Thanks a lot. Have a good weekend. Everybody it is 6 40. It is the Saturday Morning update. W one A.
