"Poll question, which so many of you are taking time to vote on today on our twitter feed at HR, n., and of course on our facebook page as well was who wins. Today's met Mile Pretty Simple, and we gave you the three favorites code of honor, Vico Mackenzie or other in if you choose. Choose other. Please make sure that you specify well so far. It's pretty tight code of honor getting thirty seven percent of the vote that coma three percent Mackenzie just twenty three percent of the vote, no votes yet for Hog Creek Hustle but I have a feeling. That's WHO Vicki Foley would pick was voting on this particular poll this morning and she's with me now here on the horse racing radio, Network Vicky Good Morning. Good Morning. You know. Don't let that poll. Deter you hog. Creek hustled thirty two one on the morning line. How do we get done today? Well. He's training fantastic. You could ask them to be doing better. I know we're. We're up against the best of the best and We're hoping for a some fast fractions up on the front and So we can have a nice clothes. We'll be stocking and. Make that. Final run. Well I thought I would take you on a little trip down memory lane here. Vicki and look back to thirteen months ago at Belmont Park when this is the way it sounded with. Hog Creek Hustle storming down the stretch. Silver on top the leader by three quarters of length to Wendell Fong, here comes on his Bishoff, looming large on the outside, and the three of them turned for home with autism mischief, making them over the outside up strike silver Wendell fondness right behind them heartbreak, hustle on the move and clothing, nitrous step against the outside of these calls again to with Barranco but private various Cook, pre council nitrous outside. He's dude onto the line Hot Creek Hustle Act. That was nitrous buttle by Bourachot and strike sober a final time of one twenty one point one to. Hog Creek Castle came from the back of the pack that day Vicki I know you remember it well I. Just thought it'd be nice to take you back there one more time. What a performance that afternoon and hoping for similar again later today. Absolutely, It was amazing the race he ran that day and That's what we're hoping for today We're up against. You know we ran with three year olds last year. as we're. Having to step up. Of course in this race. And Seven eighths was his perfect. Distance and But we feel like he'll go the mile. And again we're just going to step back and make our final run down stretch. Yet you know it's it's interesting. Since that win the woody Stevens last June by the way this the last time that he found the winner circle. He's faced off with some heavy hitters. He hasn't really duct anybody He returns to greatest company after that second place finish as the favorite with allowance horses at Churchill. Why was this the right spot to put him in here today Vicky? Well we sit. Decided to go, you know thought that was the perfect place so allowance right? He hasn't had a win. spend Belmont. And? We thought that was the perfect five Unfortunately, unfortunately, like Tony Allen jumped up. And ran a heck of a racist day. We just couldn't run him down. And After they're just really. Aren't any what knee other places to really to run. And we were hoping to run a keeneland. Believe! They had the Commonwealth there back. Before everything shut down seven eighths of a mile, which was going to be a perfect spot. And they for some reason didn't bring that race back. For their short meat. So and Our owners. We just decided that we we wanted to go. We didn't want to run six anymore. Or six and a half. And we feel like that. that. He deserves this opportunity. To and we know, he loves racetrack. "The victory ride kicks off the stakes action here at Belmont Park tomorrow afternoon grade three early in the caught has just the feel of five phillies. GOING TO GO Six and a half furlongs as for the three year old's warning line favors one francs. Rock Cat Hall of Famer Bill Will Give Fellow Hall of Famer John Velazquez a leg up and this phillies done very little wrong on her career. She's three for seven. With four second-place finishes ran second in a couple of graded stakes, including the grade one spin away up at Saratoga last year last seen winning a third level allowance optional claimer. She uses stakes. Winner took the any limit kick off three year old season three starts back. and. Probably the only reason that this race isn't later in the card is that it's a five Horsfield and Franks? Rakhat is three to five on the morning line, and she may be the the loan speed in race, so she's going to be tough to beat at three to five, but that's a pretty short price, considering there some pretty good up and coming phillies near now I think number four center. I'll I'm going to give her another shot for. For Chad Brown and Joel Rosario Sheila Great Getting Her Maiden Win Gulfstream Park, when bet down to three to five at the end of March then came back in a tough allowance race at Churchill downs where she was really over bet, she was three to five that day against another very impressive maiden winner of this one for Steve Asmussen in casual casual ran a great race that day center I'll had all sorts of problems. She didn't break that well. She had trouble during the race, and she was just really never in at any point. I think it's a racy can kind of draw a line through? If she runs closer to the way she did and her debut. I think she's the one that could give Franks rock cat. The biggest problem Franks rocket will probably get the lead I would think Rosario would have center I'll sitting justin behind her and seeing if they can outgun into the line going six and a half furlongs. With you I'm going to take a shot with center. Rile planner. If? When I plan! Early took five tomorrow I will use both Franks rocket and center, but I'll tell you what I think. You can make a case also for up in smoke was undefeated and sprints. She's four five and a career. Lone blemish came when George Weaver tries to stretch her out Hollywood wildcat. Go at Gulfstream Park. She's raced exclusively of Gulfstream, in fact, steady diet once. Once a month February march April may June now. She gets a race in July. Here over Big Sandy, she wanted the game face overboard last time out for weaver Rod Ortiz Junior. Who wrote her in her debut against fellow Florida breads down at Gulfstream Park's in the climb back aboard for the first time. Since that day looks, you'll need a little help up front if Franks, rockets able to set an easy pace I. She's going to be very very tough. I think Senator I'll be the first one to come calling. Those are the two up in smoke. If you're looking to three deep, I don't think you need to center for Bobby and I race number three goes as the great three six and a half for a long victory ride go to the end of the card. Eleven race card like I said earlier, and the final four races make up an all stakes pick four, and it starts in reasoning with the greed three poker. Flat Mile on the turf for many years. This was the fourth of July staple. On the naira calendar here it is now as part of a super five stakes card. In, the poker though. On the widener, so they come out of that shoot. On the clubhouse turn we get a field of eight entered for the turf as a main track. Only it's all relevant with the way. The weather's been here. I would imagine you know there's supposed to be some rain. We're recording the show Friday afternoon supposed to be some rains rather day on Friday and into the evening. I can't imagine it enough to take this off the turf, so let's say it will be a field of eight.

Dr Post's Rider on Unbridled Win at Gulfstream

"He is yet another late developer who may benefit quite a bit from a delayed and revamped triple Crown Dr Poster respond to urging size all over him with the tax rate top of the lane on the outside attack. But right from between Dr Post Doctor Post now up for the lead attack rated second let there be no doubt doubters best. It's Dr Post Uneven. Money winner that win. At Gulfstream in the ungraded unbridled stakes was the first time Dr Post had run a mile or longer. He'd run into sprints before that winning one this year and finishing fourth in his debut at Belmont Park last July and while his sire quality road one multiple graded stakes at a mile and an eighth doctor posts never wanted longer than seven eighths of a mile. So I'm pretty sure that when trainer Todd pletcher and owner Vincent Viola learned that the Belmont stakes would be shortened from a mile and a half to a mile and an eighth. They were probably not to dismayed. Dr Posts next start might come in the Belmont and Soda Talk About Him to talk about the return of racing in New York and other related topics we welcome in the gate. The man who has the best seat in the House to watch Dr Post his rider the two time defending clips award winning writer Iran Ortiz Junior. Tell us about all that. He overcame in winning that race at Gulfstream. Well he John Hord. I is learning by racist Green Green. Like I'd have to stay on him and but he everything's good in the behin. He wasn't bitching horses. I gotTA using monitor be to keep their then. Golly talk was the intimidate. Then we get through then. What getting now because he was seeing the horse. And what's more comfortable for me to start going because I can ride then. Finally when he gets. Put THE HEAD IN FRONT. You just take off like he got some work. Your go no yet can be a nice sort down the road will. You've said that when he grows up a little mentally it'll help him now. What shows you that. He's not yet mature in his mind. Not You know not Betty Serious on the do can feel it when do right. We'll fill their own horses. Datum care they. They know what they're doing he's Joan hordes talent but he don't know yet what he's doing you know he's looking. He spoke from the hotel sometimes. he running away from from the horse when he go by. When went to go by you look him? He's like drifting earlier so that mainly feel he's agreement. Nothing happen you just follow. Whatever I went through you know you raised it said Anita on Memorial Day you've run at Gulfstream and Churchill and will soon be returning to New York. How difficult is it to go through the testing process at each track to be cleared to come in and race? It better for you know like that's thing. I just really like three or four times. It's not too bad for me and I'm happy because like that. I'm okay to see my family. You know after I check from other also. I'm Don T my baby so I'm glad they do. They do hopefully they keep doing it their way to how challenging has it been to learn the different procedures that each track is taking to make sure that you follow all those safety and health rules. I looked a day. Should do think being roaming just enjoying sometime? He thought you're very very straight. You know I love it. I love it. They keeping rate start by just right there. I think it's better for heavy lady like that but I don't know why they don't do that but I wish they do everywhere. Now you flew back from California. Do you fly back commercial or do you fly back on charter flight? Commercial back how did you feel about that after having been away for a month because of the virus and everything yeah right now? We're not head to New York so I don't have any contact with my family because they're going to stay here up. Loria so that's why her you know. I gotTA START FLYING. Because they business. "The state reds will be on display. Here at the big tomorrow Broadway. It's a hundred thousand six furlongs four. The state bred fillies a field of six. The exact from the lava. Dodd back in here. That was going seven eighths. This one's going six cash offer collared and ran down kept true that day. That was going seven. This one's going six. She lives at one of the favorites. Big rebound here. We go somewhere else. I ended up going with one of the choices but I thought it was a really competitive field for for just a six pack. I thought they got some some good players in here. Cash offer The morning line favorite has really. Reinvented herself the last couple of starches. Become able to sit and make a run even though you know. She's still one of the quickest breakers out there The cutback to six furlongs concerns me. A little bit With her I know she likes the trip. It concerns me from the inside draw Horse I was interested in was the one out of orbit as well if the race was a little bit longer than six. I might have taken a shot with With her as a price she's turning back from the mile and they've bay ridge where she found herself on the lead for very tepid fractions tired late. I think she's going to be strong. My concern is her breaking from the fence and the short trip all the way turning all the way back to six furlong so I'm going to try and get her in the money a little bit. I'm still a fan of the number. Five kept true with the speed to her outside. I think she just going to let the speed six stones in the road go the cutback to three quarters. Promise of a fast track this time. I think that can help. Make the difference. I'm going to go with G. Ahmadi and kept trip. Yeah so AM I. I like the fact you know. Both of these phillies are accomplished at six cash. Offer End Cap Jones. To be honest. I don't think anybody else win. This race My late pick five. Pick four it'll be those two and that'll be the end of it I'll say this I think and I know cash offer three for five with two seconds at six furlongs I think the cutback benefits kept true. More I did. She has a little struggle right even the six and a half furlong way. She won At Belmont Park. She was fresh that day. That's when she's GonNa WanNa do that. I just going six furlongs. It's a little bit more of an edge to kept true. She gets back on track as well. I'll take kept true over cash offer. They're the only fuel phillies. I'm using in the hundred thousand dollar Broadway. It goes race eight on the nine Ray. Saturday called here at the big a post time all week. presidents. We've we have racing on Monday here. 3 Horses Die in 3 Days at Santa Anita, Prompting Fresh Criticism of Racetrack

"Three three more horses have died within the past week at Santa Anita racetrack bringing the total to forty two more sets at the track since December of twenty eighteen Santa Anita had promised a series of reforms in its operations and animal welfare practices the strong group owners of Santa Anita reached out to KNX offering to come on this program to talk about those reforms that was supposed to happen today but yesterday they cancel the interview and only provided a statement which will read a little bit and park later we do have with us to critics doctor Catherine path is a thoroughbred racehorse veterinarian and owner of Hillcrest meadow at Kline in Harrisburg Pennsylvania and Patrick the twelve who is founder and president of the activist group horse racing wrongs thank you both for joining us and Patrick let's start with you so we hear enough for southern California has been I have been hearing lots lately about course deaths at the Santa Anita racetrack but this is not just something that is is at that track this is something that is an issue all across the country is it not absolutely it's initially why Charles so centimeter has averaged fifty dead horses a year going back to two thousand seven but we have similar numbers throughout the country you know Belmont Park just last year forty four dead Gulfstream in twenty eighteen fifty five dead Charles town West Virginia has sixty dead in twenty eighteen I'm just finishing up my twenty nineteen for your request so those numbers are complete yet but this is an industry wide problem horse racing has always kill courses this is nothing new the only thing that's new here is that they've been exposed all right so Dr cancer pap wanted to ask you why is it so dangerous for these courses but what is it that that's causing this many doubts and and why is it seem impossible to get to a horse racing in general or a race tracks in specific to do something about it well I don't believe that it's naturally all horse racing that result in or causes tons of death there are it's four three thing in many other countries besides the United States a ninety nine point nine percent of the horses that race there do not break down they do not die they do not have catastrophic events so it is particularly unique the United States racing industry right now that we are having the outing basically as Patrick has mentioned of death and more transparency has come across in the industry not just with the public outcry about animals and what happened with in and nida but in general our industry is trying to be more transparent and talk about what's going on we can figure it out and fix it but most of the staff they're coming due to pre existing injuries in these animals have come down to basically that there's something small and it is become something big when they race at high speed so and this is for either one of you either doctor pap or or arrive at Patrick about twelve hi if I'm hearing what the doctors saying this is something that really is unique to the U. S. horse racing industry not so much that it's not nonsense I'm sorry to interrupt but it's nonsense we hear this all the time from the reform minded people and doctor pap is one of those not to say that she doesn't care about animals or care about horses but she does like course racing she wanted to survive we hear this all the time about the U. S. death rate being so much higher I don't know that to be true there is no one like me in France say or in the UK or Australia Hong Kong independently confirming the number so anyone who thinks and horses are not breaking down and dying wait a minute yes but when it but by your own admission since there's nobody you say like you in other parts of the world you don't really know if what doctor Pappas saying he is risen tree you don't know what I'm not a term from a professor of veterinary epidemiology at the university of Glasgow him park and he has to physically set out of Glasgow that another approximately ten in every ten thousand start in Britain and Ireland result in a fatality that was a source and not talk to Pat what is the source for that I you know this call in the industry today glad it is published in pod Matt I pulled up the article it has been done through their data they collect they they have a Jockey Club just like we do right who the Jockey Club here in the U. S. lies about the true death rate they don't count training that's the only count doesn't happen within seventy two hours of injury all tracks do not participate in the database for the Jockey Club it's an industry it's an industry tool and the same is being done in these other countries so if you believe these numbers you take them at their word I'm sorry I don't that's why I've only had an Australian seen it myself I've been to the Melbourne Cup I watch the race name amount of races here as I do there and I can guarantee you that there are less deaths in the U. K. and not to mention there's many less racing and they have season so for a fact there are less deaths will both of you hold it I'm going to ask you both to hold your fire for a few minutes we are going to come back and continue this discussion but before we go for a break I mentioned at the very top that we did get a statement from the this tronic group that owns Santa need although they backed out of being on the program today in park their statement says our Klein athletes of the life blood of their support and their health and welfare is our top priority we are disappointed that we were unable to reschedule our interview with KNX today and anyone that the station is welcome to come to the track for tortious see first hand our commitment and care for courses that train and race at Santa Anita Park KNX in depth continues after this

Brad Cox Interview

"British idiom is you heard the call ridden by hobby or Castellano trained by Brad Cox who has been so good for so many years he is now trained one thousand two hundred eight winners in his career and that total includes those three victories that he had yesterday to Keelan one at Belmont Park but none none more special than that grade one Darlie Abe's win and Brad is with me now here on H. R. R. N. Brad Good Morning Congratulations. Thank you good good morning. How you guys doing things are good my friend. Dr You still kind of on a high after that big win. Absolutely they had several breezes this morning at your show just kind of wrapping things up yeah. That's that's a win. You definitely you know saver for a while. They're foreign feud between the great ones yeah. What's that light for a trainer when you show up to work. The next day is kind of like a victory lap around the race track where everybody's coming up and shaking your hand and congratulating you you know it's it's it's good. I mean you know it's it makes it easier to get up in the morning. I can tell you that when you you know just having good horses to look at watch them work watching breeze. He's checking the next day. F You know post race stuff like that so you know it's good horses which is get up every day and do this force. The you know have horses than move forward young horses Oaks Derby British Cup type horses what you're looking for so it definitely makes getting up a little easier. I promise you that yeah and you've been around so many good ones but certainly British. Idiom is looking being the part at this point in her career and let's remind people. This was only her second career start. She's now a perfect two for two after breaking her maiden at Saratoga back in the middle of August. It look back on that race from yesterday she she won very impressively very easily. Share your thoughts on the performance. I I mean it it. was you know to think he was going to go over and perform like that no way. I mean you know she. She just she just blew just spectacular performance and you know watching watching the race I mean broke with higher did a great job of keeping up in the race not necessarily on the League exactly what you like to see setting off a couple of horses a relatively you you know reasonable pace the backside. I think he was laying fourth and I looked at my sister and I said she's in a perfect spot. I mean she's got no excuse from here and then when she brings it up to the leaders eaters to three eighths. Kinda started looking at some of the horses behind us like I think she's got these in front of her when she's come up to fairly I think you can go buy these and then obviously I was kinda looking for perfect perfect alibi and szucs Philly and I saw so perfect alibi was kind of interesting you know if she responds when heavier ask this things over and she did and you know the only thing I told you can't tell the guy I don't give them any instructions at all jocks but the only thing I told him I said it's a short wire so don't don't you know short stretch. Yeah I wire so just when you turn for home ever position and he did just that she responded well. It was very very impressive race. Did you know this philly could be this good in this caliber when you first laid eyes on her no really well not when I first laid eyes on that yeah you have to go through several steps. You know obviously months and months of preparation to really get a line on we had this. Philly keeneland England then we moved into this summer and she was really stepping for stepping up and you know acting like she was a good horse we breeze brought her to Churchill with the intent of running her at Saratoga and Yep. We just left our church. I I can't remember exactly how it was about just her last work before she ran at Saratoga. was from the gate at Churchill she'll and thought you know this phillies going to be awfully tough at Saratoga auction race. We'd like to a lot so and you know come to find find out. It was like that morning. There was a buzz I was actually at Churchill today. She broke her maiden Air Togo but there was a little buzz kept hearing like you know they're stranded like horses turning like Susan. I like four or five of them in there and you know she. I think lots of times like you know I thought she would have been down a little more and she wasn't. I just think it was a you know a lot of people like horses in the race and the silly it was second obviously came back and broke her maiden. Belmont which was a positive You know just a couple of weeks ago so I uh I think it was even though it was restricted maiden race it was decent strong maiden races well so she received a big figure out of it to that. That was the one thing that Japan Academy Rag Number. You know a couple of days later and I thought you know she moves forward off that you know she's a she's a serious horse. She obviously did it. Just took us a while to get her back to the races we point for the Pocahontas and she the week before she breezed in the breeze was just okay and We've put a blood on her blood worker blitz count. Where's off a little bit so we just decided to skip the Pocahontas in point for talking with trainer Brag Cox Looking back on yesterday's big win in the grade. One DARLIE also vitek was British idiom. She is now punched her ticket to the Breeder's cup juvenile fillies which will be held at Santa Anita in Arcadia California about well one month from today. Hey we'll be breeders cup Saturday Brad. What do you do now over the next four weeks to make sure that she stays in peak form and she's ready to fire her best shot in the Breeders Cup. Well just you know as of right. Now you know I believe we have a plane scheduled to go out on Tuesday before so that's the twenty ninth we'll just go out then with whatever we have that's earn whatever earn their way to the Breeders Cup and you know just who works. I think you know nothing fancy. I mean you know she got a lot out of yesterday's yesterday's race being the second career start and you know just hoping she comes out of in good shape so far so good she scoped great. Last night looked good last night. Put her to bed and she looked at this morning. So you know Oh everything's positive with her will to this point and you know like I said we'll bring her back to Churchill worker twice and then off to California to before as long as everything goes well when you get an opportunity unity to maybe add a couple more grade wants to your resume later today you have Juliette Fox Trot going in the grade one first lady here at Keeneland and then you'll send out in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont Park. You'll send out arc low in there so let's start with Juliet Fox Trot. Tell me a little bit about her really Nice Philly. I mean it took a really tough being California. Last time we got was beaten by. I think the two thousand eighteen races and the silica so I mean I think right if the wires the only time she was in front on of us we got back in front of her past the wiring dot great really nice really think the world ever very very classy filly to deal with in just just real real nice philly that train them and just very straightforward. Does everything alleged WanNa see a horse do of the mornings and obviously the afternoons as well since she's been here in North America America and just amazing philly not real big. I mean she she's. She's a beautiful really beautiful. I- owner beautiful head up but it's not a big big philly typical. I think you know think cut back to a mile. I think is a I think she can do anything between a mile. Maybe even a mile and a quarter anything in there but I always like a horse that you know in a mile in eighth last time cutting back to the mile today. I think a positive that she drew well in the race. looks like on paper. There's speed I'm hoping she can kind of break settle kind of shut off a little bit going into the first turning up the backside and she does that she'll be. She'll be very very competitive today. I think a lot of this feeling. I think she she some you know. Hopefully can you know get some great one placing. Maybe hopefully a great one win and I think you know. I think the plan right now to raise their next year and I really think she's got had a big feature. You know it's interesting you talk about the mile and an eighth cutting back to a mile later on this afternoon and how much you like that move. I've heard other people talk about horses making that can't move to why can that be so successful. I guess it's just a fitness thing I mean I know. We've had the feeling training all year but it's a lot angles and racing that you know you. Can you know I. I sometimes like you know You don't even if a horse runs well on the dirt going to turf. It's almost like you trick them a little bit. You know it's it's and you know I. It just felt like you can have a little more confidence with your shortening horse up as opposed to stretching now now 'cause you know the further you go. I guess the unknown but you know she performed well at a model at Qinglin this spring so we know she can do it. She didn't really shut off and rate that well that day wish you would have you know relax a little more but it was a first start off a long layoff for a long time. I asked her to run a little bit earlier and she was just kind of on the go like I said from off burning fresh off the layoff but she she's moved forward and she responds to what the routers warrant They had three different jobs under this year. You know they've all got along with her. Well so I think for on obviously knows Schroeder twice before been able to get her. They're both times so hopefully like I said if she can get take a trip and relax a little bit early. She'll be tough yeah. You've had her for four starts now. In North America her first one as you alluded to is keen last April after she campaign in in her native Great Britain when you get a horse like that Brad that comes in from overseas.

Part 3: Jeff Siegel, Ed DeRosa, James Scully

"Jeff Good Morning Good morning how you doing excellent and lots to digest. We've already talked to the J ribbon earlier this morning morning. I want to get your take on what went on about the racist we discussed last week including the the upset which I think is less shocking talking than people. The people are are feeling. It didn't seem upon further review that Mongolian groom was all that impossible well. He wants to me I mean I thought he'd run well but I I really I'd watch McKinsey working. I thought he was ready to roll. Oh and just looking at the form I thought that he would win and he he moved to the top of the stretch like he was going to pounce and then he kind of flat out and I I always had a little sense of doubt that maybe he wasn't quite amount of quarterhorse but this is only a mile and they and I was disappointed and I think Bob Baffert with two do I really was an he's made in announcement that he's going to replace my Smith with a writer that we don't know who's going to be. I'm sure all the the agents are kind of hanging around trying to throw their hat in the ring but yeah I mean I it was I mean it's it's just it's the nature of the game here. We've you see this happen a lot and perhaps the real the real important racist coming up a month from now but if you've you know food for thought as to whether or not the horse that we also at least I thought was the number one older horse in the country. is really that much better than everybody else and amount of quarter. I think it's anybody's game now fold in as well the the result at the Jockey Club Gold Cup and what did you think of the takedown and who do you favor of the two of them coming out west well. I'll tell you what that I I was kind of hoping that it didn't come down and even I thought the three year old is going to win the race going in and what am I ran well. I thought he I thought he had every chance to get by but it was a tough. It's tough to lose a race lightweight like way when push came to shove and unfortunately for her also did come to push he he hung in there I think both both of those are deserving the universal. I'd come already come out west a winner racer over the summer so we subtract and so they'll meet again it's I I. I was talking about this. The other day was Zoe on our podcast and we we were pretty much not baffled. I don't think that's the way but kind of open to in trying to figure out who might win the plastic doors so many possibilities now so many horses that look like they're capable title stepping up some of them that look good or maybe vulnerable so I duNNo. We'll be watching the next couple of three weeks to see who trains the best. Maybe maybe we can come up with a conclusion but right now now. It's really a mess we'll wait till they get the decisions. The final decisions horses like a late and late would add another wrinkle visit I think they're thinking mile and a quarter and the boys aren't that top much tougher for maybe the midnight DC would be if he ran against her again and and a mile an eighth in the in the the staff so that would that would certainly make an interesting well a couple of other thoughts jeff about last weekend the reasons we discussed filled D'Amato just a of magical a couple of days pee wee reese on Friday mirth and Cleopatra Strike in the Rodeo drive and the John Henry able to Geo Story. I keep coming back to it because what can you say and then Sunday Paradise Woods and I ask you the same question that I brought up up with Jay and I asked Sadler too Sadler Sheriff's the other day if she runs that race of the distaff she's she's a major major player and I know she's a notorious in and outer but I thought that was a terrific effort it was it was accomplished under under pristine conditions sitting right outside a speed horse with nobody all rounder nobody in front of her nobody beside her with kind of like a workout for but she did feel the deal as she finished strongly and she earned a beyer speed figure that was something like eight or nine points better than they were not that that means anything but bottom line is she ran really well now whether or not she can do that again I don't know if he pointed out not exactly your model of consistency and I thought maybe your best days were behind her but boy did she work well and I I I yeah I mean you have to go. You have to think that going into the dispatch. This definitely has a legitimate chance I mean if she decides to show up with a game the thing that we're going to start talking about Jeff when when when I'm at clockers corner and and we're watching horses work and when we analyzed the the XP TV workouts leading up to the race between you and Millie Ah Zoe is going to be fitness levels and the one thing you're not going to have to worry about John. The sheriff's Baffert and Sadler is is fitness of these horses on that racetrack and that's going to be a huge factor and I'm I'M GONNA keep referring to the east coast horses that went to del Elmar for the Pacific Classic and God drowned on that deep surface and Steve Asmussen asked me to his credit with with tenfold he learned his lesson and went out early with Mottola because he is not gonna get caught on that element he wants his horses. This is ready to travel over that surface and it's going to be something we we really focus on and then I'm sure in the recap you know after breeders Peter Scott. It's GONNA come up well down. Mars is eat but it's it's not it's not any deeper than in Santa Anita where this is not the old Santa Anita track backwards you know three quarters in eight and change all all day long I mean you have to be did fit to run on. This track is deep. You just tiring you you have to train over it. I think I think it really helps and yeah I think it's going to be very important to to to watch the works and I I do think it's going to be a great advantage for horses to get in early and get a beast of one or maybe even to work over the drag your possible because it's it's not it's it's tough. It's it's it. It's deeper than New York and Belmont Park is I'm convinced of that and I know Belmont to be called the fanny and all that but this track is is big heavy. I mean it's the faith it's safe and that's why they made it so deep but you've gotta get through it and you gotTa. That'd be fit well. Let's get set to look at the weekend and before we talk about Saturday any any day maker ideas for today well. You know it's yeah I mean I I did do a couple of San Anita and I can give the a little bit of an insight today's tough but I like the Philly name swirling in the fourth race she's not the favorite averaged five to two zero six two five in there she's a late running turf sprinter that that I that likes attending through force and they're starting to run five and a half now in the first we've got a couple now they extended the shootout there so she'd found five furlongs on this course a little stripe and she was hitting the boy and running well but just running out of room now she goes five and a half and I noticed in the few couple of five and a half long since we've had so far that the closers have a better chance and she's she's good enough to win. and I think that extra half for a long we'll give her the edge that she needs so I'm looking at number two swirling in the fourth race to kind of heightened me over for that's my play play today. It's an okay car not a great guard but I think we can we can get some value there because she's not going to be the favorite it's excellent all right swirling today and Let's let's go to the weekend and obviously the steak the steak side of things Let's talk about talk about the city of hope I because it it it really is intriguing and I brought up with Jay earlier. Jeff the mixing and matching of older horses. I mean really veteran in six seven eight year olds like synchrony and Ohio and Bolo and catapult facing off against some horses that may be emerging What's your angle in the studio? It's really hard. I handicap this this race and I came up with about four or five that on their best day could win. synchrony is intriguing to me I think he's intrinsically the best of the group but he doesn't have a lot of tactical speed and going a mile on this course even though he's running the tool aww theoretically he could maybe draft into the mid part of the mid packing and save the nangle out and get through he tends to give himself a lot to do and I remember when he came out here for the CBS del Mar last November. The same thing happened. Do that was sixteen. He fell back. He he had some traffic trouble he got. That's where we finished. Fuller Ronnie finished thirty one but but he didn't get there so I I like him at five to one at synchrony shipper I I hope he gets the trip. If he doesn't then you can make a case for a number of these. I mean looking for fifteen to one shot number four on your program. Aziz restrained vengeance. He's GonNa get loose in the lead and if he does that he can be dangerous. TAT upholds training really well but he's form doesn't look all that well you gotta go back to the Kilroy Mile Back in March the finding good but at least it was over this turf fourth and he could pop up Sadler. He's five to one the raises a bunch of the race basically is is a bunch. That's a five to one shots hoping for good luck but I think maybe if he gets through synchrony can win I wanted to I wanted to like River Boyne off the lay off and then John White made him four to one and that that cooled my ardor well you know I looked at him him and he was a very good three year old and he hasn't won at four and haven't made a lot of progress at least according to his numbers and he goes from practice and I'm looking elsewhere. Let's put it that way you know a to go back to an angle from last week as that in fact Jay also came up with and Dash the other filled D'Amato player and here's able to do who the things that just seem to be running for Jeff at at least from what we saw last week while they they ran for a golden gate when he was leading rider up there and I talked to them for a number of years actually we had horses up there and he he wrote for us always felt that he was good enough but he was kingpin up there era and then he decided to make the leap and I thought it might be tough for them but it really hasn't he's really falling favor with the with the horsemen down here and he's a strong writer but he's a good rider as far as and dishes concern. He's coming off a nice win. Del Mar.. He's obviously never beaten this this group although he did run second Mendelssohn and his racing debut of that matters which it doesn't that was way back in two thousand seventeen at the Curragh but but he's he's he's developing. He's he's coming around and the way the model is going. I mean I wouldn't put anything past him and especially in a race like this in which really there is no standout and anything can happen so hey why not wanting to watch a couple of other thoughts. what do you make of this chance Salat Omaha beach matchup the very very different set of three year olds against elders in the in the sprint championship wells twelve sheds lots four to five in the morning line because he's not only the fastest horse in the race in terms of numbers but he's also look controlling speed and he doesn't even have to go that fast my my concern was and it's kind of happened in the Jerkins a little bit then I know that the inside part of the wasn't particularly hit that day but they kinda slowdown down twenty three flat forty five and and he's fast horse and I think you gotta use his weapon and I think going three quarters. They don't have to worry too much about you. Know saving reading anything so I I would suspect he'll bust out there and go. He had a nice breeze over the track. I think Navarro did the right thing by bringing them out early and breezy had a half and forty. He's seven and one third fastest at sixty five last week and he lied did it. The right way looked like he was relaxed like he got over the track very very well so he's going to be it really hard for Omaha Beach the rundown although I my theory about Omaha beach is that he's always wanted to be a sprinter and because he was so good and all the money's going long long that Richard Mandella kept running them wrong and why wouldn't he won the rebel in the Arkansas Derby any may have even able to win the Kentucky Derby had come down with the trap Levada brought his only sprint race of his career only race of seven that he actually sprinted

"Mount, according to the turf for the grade to dance, smartly, this one starts on the clubhouse, turn, one of the weirder configurations. We run a North America. Feel of eight Phillies mayors, go the ten panels, the queen's fleet winner from twenty seventeen is here. Holy helena. She was third in this event last year behind a couple of Chad Brown. Remers Santa, Monica the flexibility. You know, I don't know what happens on my racing form. I, I don't see Chad Brown horse in their mistake. Something happened. Maybe he didn't want to make the trip to Canada. He's got a lot of a lot of things going on south of the border. So. Like here. Well, you know, always like holy Helena. She's one of my faves, but rock. My love comes to this country with a hundred eight racing post rating, she's by Holy Roman Emperor. She's got excellent form in Europe. Fluffy prod takes the call. She has some nice works Belmont Park. I think she's gonna be a decent price. And I think she might be the best filly in the race. Holy hell Innis five. She's mayor. Now, she's had her ups and downs. Not, not the most honest mayor anymore. She runs good ones bad ones. I thought our last race. She got a horrible, right? She could have been much closer. And she ran against home wreak, who is going to be an important horse at Saratoga, this summer, I believe, and I think you do to, you know she, she said some racist, get some tough. Really CK s point is very nice. Nice mayor, and she ran it gets her twice. You know, since the beginning of the year, so I, I think, holy Helen is going to run well, but, but I'm gonna take the other Philly on top the other one I was interested in, in Persson Nile green motion takes over training here. She has been out since November the third, but she's got that dastardly one twenty six seven eighths work. That always tells green motions intentions in during Van Dyke takes a call and take blinkers off. That's the first time in her chart in the last ten races. She's gonna run without blinkers that sometimes really wakes a horse up, so she has some long shot angles in your favor. I, I don't think anybody's gonna be betting on her. I'm definitely gonna use her in my exact isn't tries it cetera et cetera. Right. A long shot, look fifteen to one of the Nile for the pontiff. Nice price play in. I don't have a opinion here. It's hard to really trust any of these horses. Lift up five for seven on the turf, and, you know, she got beat to Lisi as world, she got beat the valedictorian last year. And before that she had never lost on the turf. The Mouna quarter shouldn't be a problem. She's one test to do it off November layoff. But with a pedigree, I think amount of quarters shooter, just fine. I'll try lift up, but I would wanna use a bunch in Iraq. My love German-bred this. I'll be honest. This might be an all in that in that twenty cent pick five, we'll say that's wide open tepid selection for me with the number seven lift up race, number nine the grade one Highlander six.

"Widener course for flat mile a field of six Chad ran only has three of them. So then he might run one-two-three and he might run one-two-three seeking the straw as the first phase three runners show break from around the Kendrick Ramoche Nova soul is the lukewarm. Second choice at five two she'll break from post four, which with. Auditees union for Chan and the favorites on the outside blow out via Castellano rights post six in those million FARs than light green silks, Peter Brant. Well, I went to Nova Seoul, first of all she has my. Good turf igure, and she has one hundred one racing post rating. And most importantly, I think out of all of that she wanna race on a soft turf at launch. So all of those things combined make her my favorite in the wild applause. I think blow out must be respected. She's a very talented Philly and probably has the most blue sky of anybody in this field. She's by, Dan. Cillian. Densely sources even run on the dirt. I mean it doesn't seem to matter where they run. They always run. Well, so I think those are the top two of chats, but seeking destroys coming off a grade three win at Belmont Park. So I mean he's he's got this race around it pretty much. But, but I'm gonna go with Nova soul. All right. I I I'm gonna tough time separating the three of. Meows of the I am going to. Let beautiful Belmont Park, make the decision for me and seeking destroy has a win over this course over the Widener in fact and with given around she went over. Good. Course here in the soaring. Softly on Preakness day, she was ten to one that day, she rolled down Senator track. That was weird because she had won her last two before October. Layoff, white wire on off surfaces. But sprinting, she lost a little bit of speed completely understandable, Kendra. Komo's gave a great ride now back around the turn backs back on long. I should say not a lot of speed and here unless you really think Pap who walked the dog on my own eighth last time I think Kendra put seeking destroy on the front end. And I think that could be all she wrote. So I wound up, what's he can destroy on top? Feel glorious seconds where last time gets a pig writer. Upgrade Joel rally all her second. Maybe the split chat here blow out and. Nova soul on of interchangeable three four four three. I think he can destroy gonna get the money because of her speed..

Thirteen year old Jamie, Kloss of Wisconsin has been found alive her alleged kidnapper who's also accused of killing her parents is in custody. There could be a new obstacle in the way of the islanders getting a newer arena. Mike sugarman has been looking into this, Mike. What is the issue here? Well, it's the Williams pipeline which has been on the drawing board for a while. And it's been controversial for quite some time. It's a natural gas pipeline would go from New Jersey and through New York to the Poconos, but twenty three miles and it's controversial in itself. But it would be the heating and cooling facility for the. The park the arena Belmont Park that the islanders plan to build to play in twenty twenty one and now national grid, which is the supplier of natural gas to the area says unless it gets built it won't be able to heat or cool that arena unless there's some alternative or right now, we don't know of many alternatives. So it seems like a political move to bring this up now. But they've been talking about the arena in. City councils and in other facilities, and that's the problem right now, they say if they don't get this pipeline done. There's a problem with the arena. Mike what what makes this pipeline? So controversial. Well, it's natural gas. And there is a move the governor Cuomo wants to reduce emissions. Eighty percent in the next fifty years forty years, and this wouldn't help you need some sort of geothermal or some sort of solar or some kind of alternative in its place. But I've been talking to people, and there's there's really nothing in its place right now. So at the moment, the only way to get the power to cool and heat the Serena's through this pipeline, which is very controversial. All right. Thank you. Mike. "Nine buyer any one Twenty-one time for US rating. There are some important handicapping pieces that need to be throw. Known into your sort of brain when thinking about this race and looking at horses exiting it first things. First time for US had the quarter and half mile splits, both color-coded blue meaning in theory, it's favoring horses on or near the early lead in compromising those coming from off of it that would play into the hooves of pattern recognition and play against both sunny ridge and time line taking it a step farther time, former you time form US excuse me, had the main track. Belmont Park color-coded red, bright, red meaning. It was intensely speed favoring that day at Belmont, I believe every single main drag. Race was one engage wire fashion on Saturday afternoon, pattern recognition, right to the front and didn't stop when you see the fractions were soft. Combining that with the way that racetrack was playing other horses, essentially little to no chance most notably sunny ridge line. Now when you go and watch the replaying that stretch run again, sunny ridge loomed up like he was going to go right on by pattern, recognize. Ish in had plenty left in the tank. This to me was not an issue of sunny ridge hanging. This was just pattern recognition having a little bit more left. I think both he anti-men timeline was in a little bit tight down the inside, but more so sunny ridge. This was a sneaky, big effort for sunny ridge. If you believe the fractions and you believe the way that the racetrack may have been playing, I think he's one that you absolutely have to throw in your DR horse watch. I did the same with timelines simply because of the dynamics of this race pattern recognition, though, visually, he looked very good out there. And if you think this is an instance where this is a horse that it's just taking him a little while. Chad Brown made mention, he's at a number of injuries during his career of you think he's finally putting it all together. All of a sudden he becomes an interesting alternative. If you're looking at a race like the Breeders Cup, dirt mile, you know, Catalina Cruz. You're gonna take his money. Maybe if a Horsely promises fulfilled goes there or Renzo fire the three year olds taking on elders, they'll take some money pattern recognition. He's an interesting sort of candidate for a spot like that, but I think you have to keep in mind that it seems like on this day he had everything go. Way, sunny ridge. I don't think he's Breeders Cup type horse, but he is a cool horse. Have always been a fan of his. There are spots for him timeline. He has been sort of his potential early on. It looked like he could be anything in time has gone on. It just doesn't seem like he's gotten any better. We'll find out maybe this is an instance where you starting to put it all together. He certainly not a Breeders Cup type, but there could be racist for him down the road. No, dozing. I think he's exposed at this level. I don't think this is what he is. I tried to give him a chance in the forego didn't work in this spot here. Perhaps he had a little bit of the track o- against him, but keep my. He was the one that was up just next to pattern recognition. So in theory, he should've had most of these things going his favor. He ended up fading badly. I don't think he's quite this good. We have to discuss battle of midway and I'm going to do this as delicately as possible. And I say delicately I, it's just I'm not trying to insult anyone. But when I look at battle of midway. The story behind him. If for some reason you are unsure. You don't know the situation. He was retired following his victory in last year's Breeders Cup. He won the dirt mile. He went off to stand and he was, he's not infertile, but he is sub fertile or something along those lines. I don't know what the actual term is, but he's not firing on all cylinders..
