"You know, and then my receiver coach, when I was with the Arizona outlaws, was one of my childhood idols. It was Fred Belinda cough, who was, my God. With the Raiders, you know, so growing up, you know, when I was at the schoolyard, playing catch with my with my friends and dive in for balls in the grass. Like I was always Fred Belinda cough. And then it turns out like he's actually coaching me. Didn't they used to say about bulletproof? He would have so much stick him on his hands. He could catch a ball on the back of his hands. Yeah, he was a really interesting man and just like a wonderful guy to be around, like as a young man to like be in meeting rooms and on the field with a guy that you had idolized as a child, like every single word he said, I hung on it. If he would have said, Jay, you want to make it the NFL, I need you to climb up on top of that building and jump off on your head. I would ask him where the ladder is. Oh, wow. Well, again, and that's the other thing too. I mean, that's stuff of legend. You know, when you think of the original Oakland Raiders, you know, and guys like that. Just Lyle ousey though. You know, just you know Morgan in this big picture view that like we're discussing just of life. So all these events, these football events, we're focused on this like football phase of the story right now, but it translates into translated into my professional life as well. It's not so much the accomplishments. It's the people it's the people you cross with. And the relationships you build and the people you get to know, truly in hindsight, that's what's important is the people. It's always the people. Yeah, and that's going to serve you well later too. So you do a little bit of a stint in CFL, USFL. When do you start realizing, I got to go out and get a job. I mean, at what point does that not work out for you? And what's the next what's the next job you get or what's the next adventure you have before we finally start looking at ATF? If I was going to continue as a football player, it was going to be a very struggled existence. I was always going to be a bubble guy. I was always going to be a guy that was like hanging there at the last cut, is here is he not going to make the team. And I had pretty much accomplished what I had set out to accomplish in football. Not the ultimate goal, not the plan a goal, but I was content with what I had accomplished and like we said earlier. I left nothing on the table. I had taken it as far as I was capable of taking it..

But it wasn't what you expected. Yeah you know. It's amazing is bill. Belichick schematic guy. He's not great on the personal relationships. As you can imagine. Not like the most touchy feely. Warm guy in the world But when you think about parcells everybody looks at him like this evil guy tough tarred to handle. "All you gotta learn to love them and care for them. They got to know you're being honest to them. And so yes and you know. It's wonderful i will even today. I have Kids doing an evening. High school would drive up in their truck and roll the window down and say mr cam. Oh i want you to meet my girlfriend. So you know you built that relationship. And wanting kids grow and learn and then i went on to do the same thing for adult scouting Bayden powell and nineteen nineteen started a program Which is an eagle project. Go equivalent for adults wood badge and i began teaching. That course i took it. And then t told it and became the the cost director. Both my sons-in-law are eagle scouts. Wonderful congressional yeah. So i am not needed for tying knots or starting fires that they've got that covered. Yeah yeah. I was very fortunate. Because of what i did. I did. Get the The silver beaver award which is is toward locally and then the silver antelope which is the highest award. Volunteers get within the boy scouts. So and then there's another one. It's called god and country service to church which was my faith has been very critical part of my life and was very honored to get the saint. George ward for service to youth with my shirt okay. Well let's talk about that for a second. You were a founding member of saint peter's cathedral correct right we Left the fiscal church to file form. The anglican church of north america and saint peter's is now the cathedral for this area and so that entity is what we help start and Been very involved with that program. It's a wonderful thing and You know it's been a major part of my life. And i'm so of the church too. When you say we re talking about latino i my wife who's been you know. I was very blessed to meet her. She's from pensacola florida. Six generation floridian which is a rare breed and She helped me change from being this. Stodgy englishman to more. Like you know being an american way you share feelings and you care a moat and so forth easy transition for it. Took me a while. She was very rigorous at making sure that i made that transition. She got very involved with a community activities. We did a lot of that together. one of the interesting things we did together that We had been involved with the british olympic team. And and then We also did the Managing a nascar team right. I started Cam group internationally. Nineteen ninety-six relief. So that i could facilitate my activities in sports and have kept it. Going for consulting services over the is obviously. It's become important more times. And then today i have it very active. And that's really my. That's the company. I work for today. Okay all right. Were you brought up sports. And that's where. I wanna go next because that's a big area of interest for me. I read that in one thousand nine hundred four. You developed a web site for the british olympic team before we get to that website. Because let me do the premise. We tina worked Was vice president of the chamber and We had the sports authority. The goal of the sports authority was to bring major sports events. We're talking about tallahassee tallahassee right and we'd bring major sports event from economic development because obviously what we did was tourism and if you brought Whenever you had a big sporting event you have about two point five to three people that come to town and hotel rooms etc etc so we had been doing that and Then the nineteen ninety. Six games. In atlanta the centennial games looming up. And so i'll goal was to get at least one team to train for the ninety six game. Why was that important. Because the games were being held a loss week in july and the first week in august heat and humidity is a primary issue for these temperate climate countries. Right and so. Fortunately i was asked to be on economic program Communications group to go with. At and t. To england right about that time. And i had the pleasure of meeting up with the british olympic association and the british track and field organizations. That typically don't get on too well because track and field in europe is a big deal for okay and Fortunately we put together a package and we convince them that To consider tallahassee rather than georgia and so they put a bid out For athens georgia chapel hill Raleigh area dharam and tallahassee. Those are the final three and they brought in a team and we showed them all on all kinds of crazy things. But the key thing that we did. I did a evaluation of the Temperature and weather conditions for the last ten years before that and we could deliver the same conditions as those two weeks. August september four earlier for nine months out of the year. And so what i slogan warmly. That's not a big selling point but the thing is really important to understand. Is that in tallahassee. We have the finest heat and humidity in the south and they bought it and they came and we got twenty one of twenty four teams that they took to atlanta thanks. We built the facilities. Put together the facilities. We blessed to have a fantastic relationship with florida state. University florida am all the local communities the biking communities the wrestling communities boxing communities and then the other aspect was Massage therapy which was a big deal in in olympic sports right so they came and they trained for four years and we had an incredible number of athletes. For how long for four years they we. They selected us in ninety four years. Voyeurs of training off and on for that opened on the teams with coming they. As we got closer to the games they came more and more and that formula is very important Four what we did. We were fortunate to be able to contact buckingham palace and princess. Anne made a decision to come and the night and the day before the game started in atlanta. She was flown in on a private jet. And i to spend the day with Taking a to all the venues making meeting the players the dow athlete very exciting. Very exciting time so getting back to the website. You'd sell right The idea was to be able to sell branded material clothing right well for most people that don't realize that the olympic rings look the same and they are the same in every single country but not allowed to sell any kind of olympic gail in america other american olympic gale was got a waiver. We had a good relationship with the american olympic association and so when we open that they agreed to a let us to sell british olympic Branded montero's on that website and That was very significant are so in addition to the olympic the work with the olympics. You also We're involved in managing marketing and sponsorships for a nascar team. So how did you get involved with nascar. I had a friend that i went to chapel hill with. And he was the lawyer for a team and asheville north carolina and they had They had a team but never really got better than seventeenth position in nascar. The difference between first place and forty the forty fourth call is seconds not a lot of time and he asked me to come up and help them with the sponsorship. And so t nigh Took on the opportunity to use our knowledge that we had learned from the olympics to help them with their sponsorship along the way Having worked with all these athletes just little things that we could help them with. That would make a huge difference for instance. Whenever you jump you always jump off the same foot. Okay well when you go over the wall to change a tire you're talking seconds for and if you go to the wall on the wrong foot the body will change and put you on the right foot. You now lost a second. Every second is one position back as you go back on the track. How do you. Max minimize the time. It takes the train to change tires and get the 'cause ready we help them get the sponsorship. We we did that want. We thought we had got a major Victory and tnt spent a lot of time cultivating And we really felt that we had convinced Pepsi dispenser our teams. We had team Number was one and they wanted the number one and the vice president call. Tina and said i gotta tell you we can't go through the deal but when you hear what we have you'll understand and she hung up very disappointed and she told me i said well. There's only one person that would make that difference. And i said jeff gordon and he was a coca cola sponsor and yes. They had convinced him to move from coca cola to pepsi. That was exciting. I mean it's such a tremendous you fly into the the different venues and you inside that area you're working with the teams and just a wonderful experience. But it's not conducive to raising three kids. So that's where we left that industry. Yeah hey everybody just a quick reminder that this episode is brought to you by fiori communications just like people every business has a story to tell and we've been helping our clients. Tell their story since two thousand one because who you are as a company is just as important as what you do to learn more about. How telling your story can make a difference in your business visit. Fury communications dot com. Thanks again for listening now. Back to the show now we get to one of the most interesting parts for me is a huge sports fan especially football fan You were and are still a member of the tallahassee quarterback club and i believe you founded the foundation to Tell me about the origins of the bullet nicole award. And how all that happened as a great question and i thoroughly enjoyed talking about it but bottom line over the years From my time in high school where we played football. I had a tremendous interested college football and football in general and i was watching Charlie ward get his heisman For those don't know. Hollywood was at florida state university in one the heisman and he suddenly could to me as i listened to him getting the award and having listened to the college football award show three days before having looked at the the sport and understanding that there was no ward for the for the wide receivers. As i said there's Seven positions in college football. And indeed. As i look through the history From very posit. Occurred between dot muffin. yale and eighteen. Eighty seven of quarterback was falling and screw the ball and It was caught and went for touchdown and then the ref said well there's no rule against it and that's how the nobody had thought to throw the ball. Nobody thought right. And so it wasn't outlawed Then side then looked at two things. Who would you give the award to. So i the research on who had the best to statistics in college football and as you go through and look at the history up until that date nineteen ninety four ninety-three that time period. It came to be evident that fred. Belinda cough who was from airy pennsylvania very successful athlete at lettered in five sports in high in high school and he played for florida state university and his assistants With very best at the time. That's how i eventually Decided that would be the person that we would name the award after. We also had a great Pro career with the raiders. Right and that's what. I want being a marketing person. That was one aspect that's a great observation on your part is that i didn't pick up on that. And so after we created the ward. I called him and got to know my head to talk to the raiders organization to allow them to talk to him. Yes he had had a very successful pro-career but so then you had to create a trophy and if you look at each of the seven positions. There's a pacific stance that depict if you look at a quarterback where they stand the quarterback award. Looks like that. I look at the running back and the key. Position for receive always a sideline pause and so we created that a war the figurine to look that way and it was kind of interesting is that we had nobody the did Figurines tallahassee the only person. I could do to get to do. It was a world renown duck decoy person. That did decoys for ducks and he did. The i mode. Obviously it had some issues but we had a a very fortunate that we one of the people in town that did trophies and they were able to get the clay model to the company in chicago. louis does all the emmys oscars an mtv awards and so forth and they do all those things and so that model was then sent to chicago and then we wanted a blank to really stand out and so we have philippine immobile which is the finest marble in the world. And that's the blank that goes in the blit knockoff..

"One day to picking a running back they are going to be highly sought after in both dynasty and redraft format Josh you have courtland. So you've talked about Josh jacobs and all three leagues courtland sutton in all three of your dynasty leagues in the f. fcc well this is another guy coming off with torn ligaments in his knee. How confident are you in a bounce back season. Have you been shopping him. And all the same way you could get her. Are you going to see what's going to happen first before you think about moving. Well yeah like you said. It's got them all over the place and that injury last year Yeah that's really kinda that hurts a little bit He was starting to kind of come into his own and everything seems like he's on track to come back healthy He has jerry jeudy on the other side. noah fant. You talked a little bit earlier in the show. About melvin gordon So the weapons are there to kind of spread it around Big question is drew lock. Is he going to be the quarterback for denver. Or are they gonna find someone Personally i don't think lock is the answer. So courtland right now. Until he can show that he's healthy and maybe gets off to good starts whereas value might go up a little bit I'm going to be holding onto him. But right now courtland sutton and jerry jeudy. I have about the same. I m real close in value And really the only only difference. I like sutton more this year But jerry jeudy beans three years younger More time and i don't think there's a better runner than judy. But something is the bigger more physical receiver. So it's going to depend on the quarterback that they they get throwing the balls on which one's going to be Getting the most targets. I think i'm so glad to hear you. Say that about being a route runner jerry. Jeudy i told someone the other day that jerry jeudy was fred. Belinda cough with Steve and they asked me. Nicole was no one i know. It's just it's i won't be talking to that person for a while no one Has to ask who jamaal williams is. I look forward in future to having baulky hang out at the senior bowl sometime in. Meet these players when they're when they're coming out of school but Jamal was just as a use of explosive personality and then people just fell foreing immediately. And he's kind of player that you want to root for now. I think he is in a situation to really pay dividends. Thank excellent Pairing with the quarterback In this passing game but the players that you've mentioned early the andre swift Are we can't for say Sort of a marking room. Alvin kamara situation developing in detroit. The are you hiring these players. Steve you know does how does williams affect your thoughts of swift. I like that comparison with ingram and kamara. I hadn't thought about it like that. But being a packer. Fan being from wisconsin. You know having seen jamaal williams and his personality. I you're right it. I was really thinking it was gonna be aj dylan and they were gonna sign williams back in green bay and let jones go so when they signed jones kind of saw the writing on the wall. So detroit's got themselves a great back and jamaal williams. I don't think is going to be anymore Than what he was with the packers Fantasy wise real real wise. it's a great great signing But the thing is jamal williams. She picks up the pass rush. Really well is a good catcher. So as long as peterson and kerryon johnson and then those guys come back..

"That's that's exactly right. you know. In my opinion you know you look at these guys are that are in the super bowl right now. You know it takes eleven guys open seven days dancing and living guys to go out on special teams to get you to this moment and you. You gotta go through a grueling sixteen game schedule by the way through the playoffs to get to the super bowl man and it's so hard to get there you know everybody doesn't get a chance to get there and went and they understand how hard it is so it is it is. There's nothing better than to be able to say at the end of the season and to art. Best team in the nfl. Get a chance to to the whole course that the bardi trophy up as the champion. That is the awesome it because it is the ultimate team sport man. So i know these guys you know you know both teams you know Kansas city went last year. And you know brady's when it six times so he's been there before but you got some guys you know they haven't been there and You know. I know those guys are explaining what this actually means because once you're a champion man you're champion charles. Had two shots at it. You one one and you didn't win one. I'm curious to one. You won like the way you lay that out this so much that goes into it. It's so grueling over the course of any given year to get to that spot and then you suffered the worst possible break. The worst possible time a broken collarbone in the first half of a super bowl like given the price that you pay to get there. What goes through your mind when you realize man. I cannot rejoin the battle with my brothers in the super bowl. How emotional was that moment. And how'd you process that. Yeah that was. That was certainly emotional. Because i mean anybody who's been around me and my career you know that if i had you know there was a way that i could get back to get back out there on the field you know whether i had to take a shot or you know whatever i was going to get back out down feel so it was tough not to be able to. You know finish today. You know with my brothers. But i was on my guys that are in my position in my back room. I was hoping. I made enough of an impression that can help those guys and some kind of way finished the game and i think that happens so you know whether or not i was actually in between the white lines and playing the game to finish it out. I feel like my presence will self man in and actually in saying that i did. Finish the game so Regardless you know the guys went out there man guided done. And i was able to hold them bardy after the game man. Which was you know very very special moment. I wonder about that like you. Got to hold that lombardi up and you got back out there like when you consider the sweat equity. That goes into it how badly you want it how much it means to you when you actually get that feeling you. Hold that trophy up. Does it match your expectation in other words. Did it live up to the hype. What's it feel like to be the best in the world. I no question you're talking about myself. You know having been to you know. I was there in two thousand two. It was as you know with the raiders and we had a great great team. And you know the expectation is that you did to the super bowl. I mean hey you know you got the same players coming back for the most part you're gonna make it back next year and it took me several years to get back to it. You know. so we're going into that game. I remember you know having my speech. You know to the team you know that we got to the championship. Damn it was like hey man for these next two weeks man we gotta be gotta be one one mind man purpose. Oh one goal in mind going into this game. And i meant every bit of it and i told those guys you don't you don't know when you're gonna get back you know what i mean. I don't know how. How long are you gonna play. I was forcing ended up to play a long time and to be able to get back to one. But you never know when or if you'll get back to super bowl man. Let's take advantage and let's go out and win it and you know that that that meant everything man to just have the opportunity to get back and then to you know like you said be able to host it at the end and say hey you are the best team in the nfl. That's amazing like when you have the career you have had worked as hard as you didn't got there twice. Then you look at your fellow michigan man. Tom brady charles like this guy is going to his tenth. Like we all know his journey from unheralded player in college to mid around draft choice to vote. But i'm curious wendy. You look at this guy. I mean really. Look at this guy and thing man. This dude is different. This dude is special. When did you first have that thought about him. You just take the probably after he won you know multiple you know super super bowl and you think when they won the first one you know he's just just coming in and of course you're excited for you know he's an old teammate. So wow got it i. Super bowl is great. But when you look at you know their first super bowl and the second one was a lot of attention that was paid you know on the deep in society the ball and a lot of people say oh well you know it wasn't about him it was about the defense but then when you look at him at all he did was just keep climbing and climbing the ladder man and you know then he gets to the point you know he has a little long then run resin table with another three more and you just you kinda look back over it and you start going through the steps of his career and you reflect on all of it. He just amazed at the fact that one you know he's forty three years old still out there slain it but you just mentioned to to be a part of ten super bowls you know having one six Is that that'll never be done again. In my opinion you know especially In this day and age guys switching teams and the whole nine. But i just. I don't think it's one particular moment. Man i just think it's the totality of this career. And then actually seeing him leave the team that he played for for twenty years and go to another team. The new system new head coach No all season really. You know everything was done. Virtually for the most part you know for a large part of that Season preseason and then he gets team man and they just do throughout the course of the season. Kinda i think. Buy into what he was bringing it to the two so Man i think you know when you look at what he did in new england. You're amazed but then now you look at where he's at with with with the bucks and then you're just you could say re amazed at what he's doing so i mean just before man happy that he got a chance to to leave new england and so he does have a great impact twenty teeth. That's true isn't it. I mean like bruce arians said it's one man like one man was able to change the culture of the building. It's it's an amazing thing. Now charles the next raider fan. That i meet that has gotten over. The tuck rule play is going to be the first you. Of course right middle man. You hit brady a fumble. How long did it take you to reconcile or process or move beyond that. Call or maybe is part of you. That still hasn't the miatas jim How do you reconcile something that every year you know. The playoffs star does anniversary of group. Right i don't know how i don't know how never able to heal is is like you know there. There's a scab you have on your leg and you know finally starting to heal and then all of a sudden you find out in back open. It's like jeeze every year anniversary. Komo so you know for me. I feel like you know what i was one to toughest moments in my career. Of course because like you said i was right in the middle of the play but then raider nation. You know feeling like you know. We all got robbed in that situation as it's a hard one to get over and and i don't think really you know i think there's probably a small part of you know each and every one of us that still hasn't gotten over it but at the same time you know i can't really complain as far as you know how things worked out as a player for myself and playing being able to eighteen years in the. Nfl did finally win the super bowl. And like you mentioned beavis player of the year and all of these other accolades. So i don't dwell on it but you know sometimes that wound is open back up now. I understand that. And i appreciate the candor to response and then charles yet such amazing running green bay such a great run green bay. You're going to go down as an all time packer grade. But they certainly weren't your first choice at the time right in fact if we're being real did you even initially want to be there at all in the beginning. Green bay was never my radar. I never know once you can even put out. You know the idea that you know. I was thinking about going to green bay coversation with my agent and You know we talked about several other teams tampa was was at the top of the list Initially because of the fact that grew was there General manager. Bruce allen had gone down there i just thought man naturally they would bring me in. I'm grueling first. Pick in oakland i. I was almost a certain that i was going to be. You know a taliban buccaneer and all of a sudden you know. That wasn't an option. I remember telling my agent that i wanted to talk to jacksonville. I mentioned this a couple of weeks back. That jacksonville was very high on my list because of the defense pieces that they had and i thought that would have been a natural fit for myself to go out there and play opposite. Math is and you know they have some study of front That could you know flat out. Get a pastor and stop the run. So i was. I was like man okay. Tampa not in the mix definitely jacksonville and then they went another route and then here comes green bay kind of out of nowhere you know enquiring about me and called him an agent and you know i'm like you know carl carl's posted man. We haven't even talked about green bay. Why why you keep approach me about green bay and You know they were. They were persistent. I know there was one other guy who was they. Were looking at in free agency. Lavar arrington and I forget what kind of happened with his situation. But you know they stayed up to me and next thing you know man. I signed a green bay. And like you said man helluva run and green bay hell run. It's amazing how things work out. Aaron rodgers charles. One set of you quote. I think he's the most talented guy i have ever played with quote. I'm curious what's it like to hear that particular praise from that particular guy player. There's a lot man because if you know the type of player that iraq has become in have a lot of respect for air. And i know he's coming from and started his career. You know where he is now and no to be honest man when you're out during the field and you're working you don't really you know understand. I who's really paying attention. And so you know he's got his own deal. He's trying to start you know. Then he gets the job. And he's the quarterback of green bay packers franchise and got his own deal to worry about offense. You know his his his relationship with mike mccarthy and he's got a whole lot of other things going on you know so you know for him to actually you know during that time period be watching me i went through. You know my career there and my seven years in green bay and to have that opinion Because we have. We asked out there on team that that means a lot to no doubt. I mean it's it's such a ruthless business right. Even for the very best of the best. Like joe montana did not screw the niners. Tom brady dominates crew. The patriots brett farve did not end his cruelty. Packers how do you think this plays out for. Aaron in green bay is you're on the outside looking in. How do you think that's gonna end going to end up just like all those great ones. I don't think you know ever got is ready to give the game up. You know within the next two years. I think he wants to play as long as he can. I know i know he wants to get to another super bowl for certain You know because you know all talk. And how great. He is at a quarterback. But when you look at other guys around him some of his contemporaries. No rothlisberger has to allied to. Brady's got six pain head to You know he's sitting there. I want one. I'm sure he Definitely wants to get you know another super bowl And so i. I think you know for him. He he's going to be just like all those great ones he's gonna play. Maybe one or two of the years in green bay. Then he's gonna have to go somewhere else and play. It happens to all the grace it's like. Nobody is exempt from that happening. Just because you were a player to a certain team. I mean look at breath or you mentioned joe. Montana got brady. I guess the prime example just recently you know who who would have thought he'd leave new england and be down in tampa bay florida. Nobody ever told that So i think if he plays As long as i think he would like to play end up on another team man. I think you're so right. Do you want improve your health. Brady and think to myself man. At the support he has with tampa they essentially gave him whatever he wanted. And he earned that right. He's the goat but he's got to say in almost everything that goes on if he says. Hey i want gronk that he gets. Ab errands got to be looking at that right and thinking to himself. The grass has got to be greener. Look what this guy did. Because he took that big step and for and i mentioned this the other day when you look at the season Of course you know an probably want them to drive you know. They had a slew of receivers in the draft. I'm sure you probably want one or two one win. Those guys Didn't get it and drafted quarterback and so you didn't have didn't drive someone who was going to help that team immediately And right now and sure at this point you think okay I'm the quarterback here. But i made a little say as well let let me let me be part of the decision making processes far. Who were looking at in free agency. You know what guys. We're looking at drafty other. Otherwise you know you're gonna have you know you're going to have a disgruntled guy especially makes you this year. He just went out and played understanding that you know you drafted a guy. Behave better than me. So i'm not worried about in taking my job going forward you kinda look you know the way. The game was play the other day. Look at the weapons brady had. Even though some of those guys are out he still had those guys. throughout the seasons. You know they were loaded with weapons on the side of the ball. So i know aaron wants those guys to go all out you know on the opposite side of the ball bring whoever they can to help him right now and i would almost guarantee that he would want to be a part of that decision. Making process in green bay doesn't do that you will have a disgruntled player in packers and i think that i mean in in Dan rogers and then i think you know speeds up his process of you know trying to get out of there and get into another. Jeez trust i think you hit on something. That's really really interesting that he should be involved in the process. Like you have to shawn watson and the team had told him you will be involved in the process. Then they did not involve the process and now he may not be in the best way. Where do you come out on this. When you have a franchise quarterback is this a matter of where players play coaches coach. Or if you have guys like dat you better involve them in the process. Should they be involved. Yeah i think. I think you guys of you know arends caliber You know brady. You know you talk about the shawn watson where he where he is and his career i mean. Why wouldn't these guys you know. Have some say so. I mean look. Who's in the super bowl right now and you know. Look at the quarterback situation that they have you got a home and you got. Tom brady in the homes is going to be in the same situation as a player Why not bring those guys in. And say hey. This is what we're looking at. You know as far as especially as far as all things is concerned and then looking at data side of the ball you know. What would the defense made me to help. Defensive side of the ball and and helping you know those guys be stout on defense and getting off the field on third down so that you can get the ball back but when it comes to receivers running backs offense lineman why why. Why wouldn't you bring your friends high quarterback in there who you expect lead you. You know to the super bowl you know. Get you deep in the playoffs and win the super bowl. Why wouldn't they gotta be a part of this decision making process and i'm not saying you gotta let him make your picks but why not let them. Have you know some say. So as far as who comes on their team. So i gotta believe man that you know. Mark murphy Those guys they're the billy Go to chris and You know those guys together. We'll sit down and say hey you know we gotta we gotta bring a ride in man. We gotta talk to him. We gotta make him a part of the decision making process Like i said otherwise. I he's gonna be a disgruntled quarterback much different than what he was this year. They should just play relaxed. Looked like he was having fun. But you don't you don't bring them in and don't let them with the decisions. I think you'll having upset all hell. Yes absolutely he should be involved in the process. I mean i posed the question to get your thoughts. And i really appreciate them. But why wouldn't you. Why wouldn't you. In fact i'd go one better. I'd make sure if he's unhappy. They should make it right. They should ask him exactly what he needs what he wants take as input and then maximize that asset. Of course i mean. Why wouldn't you know charles. You used to come on the show early in your career my shows when you were with the raiders. I'm curious what was it like back in the day on any given day. Any number of former raider greats which show up at the facility. I'm talking willie brown bullet caccia motto. What was it. Like what apart or to be a part of that particular brotherhood and that was awesome You know i grew up. You know you call You know some of the raiders games late because they were you know on the west coast so I mean growing up. I i'd heard names. Like of course tim brown and and You know bo jackson but you didn't. We didn't really see a whole lot of you know from But you but you knew of them and you know. Of course you knew about davis and you know about the silver and black but then getting to oakland and you know probably the first person that i that i really had any report with with was willie bryant. You know late. Great willie brown and of course. He was a constant in the building. You know help that. With the db's i got there but then you start to learn about all of these guys. Man freddie belinda cough. How we long. Jim auto worked in the building trying to think cliff. Man clinton brands myth clip branch man. We had all of these guys man always buzzing around the building and it wasn't a day that went by that that one of these guys wasn't around and you and you just understood you know what that place was was all about and you know you always hear saying wants to raider always That really meant something you know to. To the raiders in the former player that played there. You know they were always welcome to come back to the percentage and they were around I remember you know. Every year. Freddie being with get up in front of the team and talk brian would talk and You know i remember. Freddie would always is one thing hey you want you know everybody in the nfl and around this country to talk about what you guys are doing and you got a not talking about what we did in the past. You gotta go out there and win you know and that always stuck with me you know it was like hey you gotta go out there and make your own name for yourself. Otherwise no keep talking about the former grace. They played here so we always had those guys around the building. Man it just made it fun and you know to hear those guys talk to them. You know the winning always to know stories about how it was when he played that. The locker rooms where you know smoking in under the bleachers on the way and the halftime jean claude. Back in the day man but it was. It was great man. Having those guys around it was a lot of fun. That's incredible willie. Brown was such a class act. And what a great player. What a classy guy charge you. Madge those guys going under the stadium to burn some marlboros halftime. Are you kidding me. Like i know their own school when they get fucked.

"For that. And welcome back to the show. Rick tiller with you. Coast to coast and around the world. He email address Is one eight hundred. Eight seven eight play. Few people have Two people emailed me about what aubrey huff. has tweeted. And like. i'm i'm not gonna talk about it. I mean i'll address email on the air But you gotta remember that. He's he's in it for your reactions and the the best way to counter a guy who's so stupid is to ignore them. I mean ask any girl who has a guy who's after him if you keep saying no thanks. I appreciate the flowers. But this isn't thanks for sending me drank if you ignore them it's cruel. It gets the message across so much more effectively than any type of You know declining the gesture. So and i know the knee-jerk reaction is rage but remember that is the currency of twitter and social media is rage. It doesn't matter what aubrey huff thinks. It doesn't matter what i think. Or what you think unless you care about what i think or what you think or it makes you think but with aubrey huff. Literally don't care what he thinks you. What do you care about people. You respect people who you think are smart. People who are loved ones are people who might teach you something other than that. Why would you just listen to jackass on twitter. Who's gonna say stupid racist stuff. Let you you make in a way. You make him a success. You make what he does the success if you react to it and in my opinion but do you want one. If you remember who's looking up on the stars any city saw the stars in the late over there in michigan. Wow very cool and what. He's doing what he's doing us a great player but what he's doing that kind of Clung me what he's up to. I really liked that a lot of good stuff from the guy's really memorable. Yeah well essentially from all planned that guy. Some the nfl antidotes Maybe you can kind of lead into my point about the lions and that would be that Study believe cough. You know freddie belinda. Cough john hazelwood drafted by the detroit lions. Mr ford wouldn't sign them because they were too cheap..

"Any credit for that seventeen zero PM. A lot of people aren't aware of how the referees officiating crew are selected for the Super Bowl, take me through that. It's a qualifying process depending upon your grades and he'll, as you know a camera follows every efficient around during every game every call every no call every play is recorded on tape CDs. Now, of course, I am and you're evaluated Monday Tuesday and Wednesday after your game every week and you're scored on how well you do how poorly do we call them downgrades and if you get too many downgrades, you're not going to work in the play offs and once you get to the playoff level, then you can work in the wildcard. Visuals Championship and they all over the course of working in the super. Bowl. It's always discussed about putting the cruise together and when you take a linesman and backfield judges and referees and you bring them all together at the last moment as you said, you learned about ten days before the Super Bowl. How hard is it to get that synchronization between all the elements of an officiating crew? We really never have a problem with having a three. I've had fact I was in a fourth one as all that and when the. Redskins and the raiders played in Tampa but they come together a couple of days ahead of time they're the best in their position they know what to do. They can coordinate the side judge and the and the headline coordinate very well as do the line judge of field judge could coordinate along the is like that. But now they're doing more and work crews in fact, divisionals and the. Championship Games this year had four or five from the same coups. So nowadays, the violin you as a crew, not necessarily Jessica individual that's important too. But as a crew hundred you do and so many of the crews are working together now, and that's a good thing. We know how the teams prepare for this game. What about the officiating crew? Did they look a lot of film as well? More more filmed, siskel and Ebert. All A lot of. Not Studying the team so much as to what? WHO's this player? That player you're studying teams in terms of formation They'll run trips three three receivers on one side. A lot of times when you do that, that has to mean adjusted for for the officials. On that side, we have five officials downfield that cover five of players there have only can be five receivers on a team. Those five receivers are covered by the officials downfield. We WanNA coordinate, very well as to. Who's got the inside receiver who's got the wide receiver who's got the tight in and come down and cross and do the officials cross to they make that adjustment. That's a very intricate thing that needs to be discussed over and over and looked out on film. As you know, the game has changed a great deal I mean there are nickel packages dime packages defensively. The West, coast offense came into play, which created a lot of excitement. How about the officiating how the officials adjusted to that? We don't have any fucking nickel and dime. Crews on all seven guys out there for those that can even as we can't leave the like those players do but you do have to adjust to that because they had the linebackers coming up in the middle of Alaska. That's a tight end. Position is a linebacker going to bless you need to know understand about blessing you need to know what the blitzing schemes look like and there's a nickel and dime packages change. You got to adjust downfield particularly the side judge back as and Field Joe's just three downfield. One thing I know is that you work super bowl number six and then you did number eleven and. Number twelve I want to ask you about what you noticed in the change of the not only the game but the people that were playing the game because you and I have talked over the years about how the players have gotten bigger and faster in the game has gotten tougher. What did you notice maybe incrementally between Super Bowl six and super bowl eleven well, that was a that was. A, lot of years in there but I did notice the fact that the players were bigger and stronger and that the system to change a lot Dallas and Miami in the Super Bowl six or basically running games joining Thomas for the for the Dallas, cowboys and and CZANKA and kick for the for the dolphins versus when you got to the vikings were Tarkenton's a passer, the raiders with statement as a passer intact in Super Bowl six Roger starbuck was MVP but it's super bowl eleven fed Belinda cough wide receiver was was that and then superbowl twelve. was such a defensive game with the Dallas cowboys that randy white and and One of the other line back Home Martin was they were they were the defensive guys was a MVP changed a lot and it seems. That was nineteen, seventy eight. We're talking thirty some years later. This is an tremendous improvement in the game in terms of kind of formation and the kinds of things that. Have to look at one of the things I think that anybody had seen NFL films. They've always seen shots, coaches working the ear of the officials aside judge also the referee out on the field it seems like they've gotten more vociferous I know in watching even regular season games some coaches always yelling something out the official or or working the guy on the side. Have you noticed a change as far as the interactivity between and communication between the officials and the coach is A lot more, and there's a good reason for and and it's not all bad because now. For Years Ron the League Office assigned me to give the rules talk for the people in the West Coast, the charges and the and the cowboys are on here. Then the forty niners and the seahawks and the raiders, and we would have an interchange with the coaches and that sort of thing. But now they send crews into the training camps are there for two three or four days working discovery just so they get a lot of discussion that way as soon as a lot of interaction but one thing I noticed on the other end of that is when the coaches are yelling and screaming at you now that we have instant replay and the challenge flag. That the coach skin. So the challenge flag, he's screaming official the physical inventory. So I'm going to challenge that is more of a pleasant conversation now or you're gonNA shine it. Okay. Now we go to replay replay upholds the call the field, which is maybe against the coats have the callously and the coach accepted who invented why didn't you accept it when the official dude you're accepting the eye of the camera as as as God as an example, why did you do that with the official on the field I? Think I think that relationship has gotten a lot better actually our coaches looking for explanations so they can understand better why and what officials are calling then. Many times, many times, coaches, which was on and many times I've seen that coach pull player off the field and discuss that were they might do on the sidelines or yell at him from the sidelines. But yes, they're looking for he will came it was a false start. What did you see them at Foucault, who which was seventy seven or seventy six or whatever, and why did he do that or? You gotTA pass interference down the field that receiver push off what did you see? Can you know helping to coach help the player that they don't really WANNA commit fouls they're not intend on commending thous- even though some teams have more files than the others, they really would like to play the game without the phones you know as well as I do that famous clip of Hank, schram on the sideline. Working the officials and also bill. Walsh was somebody you and I talked about that who always knew how to get his point across as well over the years of officiating whether it'd be Super Bowl championship games or what it was telling me about some of your favorite coaches at the interaction..

Because you really want to be proud of taking taking the greatest quarterback of all time and turning him into a six round pick and I'll just step a little. Have a little aside for you. Howard add Jim? Harbaugh have something in common and then it's going to be very difficult to fire these guys because there's just such an emotional connection and now we've rebounded with the FAB five so you're not just firing Juwan Howard. You're firing guys that endorsed Jalen rose at Chris. grabber and you know they feel that Juwan going back to that bench and bringing that program maybe the next level and you know they've been all been very careful not to put out Jon Allen in the great job that he did add They're not you know they don't even seem all that discontent because it was you want Howard who replaced him with the with the departure You know it's almost like they understood. There's guys will Michigan ties Michael Phelps is from Baltimore but he started a swim program on Campus Michigan and Derek. JETER is perhaps more more of a Michigan Fan because George Steinbrenner was an Ohio State Fan. Abbott is just such a unique case. the one handed pitcher born without Out a right hand. He has thrown a perfect game. I think dirt against the Indians But threw a perfect game for the New York Yankees and the ad I you know I. I don't recall ever seeing happen but Apparently he could hit fairly he. There's Mario Manningham Ruining Michigan Era Penn State's perfect season a few years back. There's you know. The there was the Michigan disappointment. They lose at Iowa. They lost Iowa in eighty five or in eighty six rather. Actually I had it right the first I mean eighty-five they lost to Iowa. WHO's number one? They lost twelve to ten they lost a heartbreaker just a few years ago at Iowa. City and You know I believe that Michigan once again went to you a major ballgame that they were undeserving of wet. You probably the Orange Ball and I think instead Florida state just boat race them in that particular. A lot of Michigan blowouts enough that nothing nothing quite like losing thirty four to thirty two at home to an Appalachian State team that was not only unranked but not even even tiered on the same level. As the University of Michigan going forward going forward. There's no urban Meyer. There's no Jim Tressel at Ohio state. They beat Luke fickle in twenty eleven. Maybe they've got their heart set on taking down rain Ryan Day this upcoming season shape. Patterson I think shape Patterson's back act quarterback you know of course of course. The wolverines were were favorites against Ohio state at Ohio state and that didn't work out so well looked a little bit competitive early. Actually it was. It was a couple years before a couple of years before at Ohio State in twenty sixteen whether there there was a controversial fourth down that was awarded I down that was awarded on four thousand. Wow state that would have ended the game and after review the first down hold stop and then on the very next play. The buckeyes walk it off in overtime. Thirty to twenty four hour. But I'd be lying. Never recruited one of them and they think Juwan Howard can get that done. It would be a amazing. I I really love seeing these guys staying at home coach in their own program up. We're going to deal with Dabo. Sweeney someday at Alabama. Maybe but of course. It's a big risk. When you hire a guy that you cannot easily fire? And you've rekindled the relationship of the Fab five. You've rekindled the relationship relationship with the football program. Though Jim. The clock is ticking. "Talking about what is coming on Sunday the last game ever to be played in Oakland now you know you feel bad for the fans don't leave right yeah we're really feel bad for fans then why the hell are you moving to Las Vegas well and I understand it's more complicated process that the public money wasn't available and nobody wants to pay for their own stadium in if there's another city that's going to pay seven hundred fifty million dollars for your state and then what can you do but we use this occasion with the last ever game to be played at the Oakland Coliseum to do a draft of the baddest raiders of all time I don't know whether we approved ultimately the most badass raiders or the baddest raiders either way that's the spirit of it can be raiders from anywhere at any time that's the draft trivia question to determine the first choice got all right well as you know they're playing their final home game in Oaklyn against the Jaguars in history the raiders this is amazing actually in the history of the raiders only one player has made ten or more pro bowls who is that player art shell are good gas but no it will be a Jim Otto Jim all double zero Jim auto I know someone that offense of line yeah either I'm shocked hard shell or Jim are good yeah first pets all right now the Dow the top one that really was it actually a surprise it was such a great franchise that that's the only one I would have thought maybe they've been you know one or two others but all right well I mean I don't know I gotta start here when you're talking about bad **** raiders I mean I'm going without Davis the started off I mean he's the one that started the badass writers I mean he is the guy he's the guy that used to walk around in a white leather jumpsuit with a director with the raiders emblem on encrusted in diamonds I mean come on if that doesn't look like a bad **** right there with a pinkie ring bling bling I mean he fought against the NFL all he and still be added to all of the raiders into that organization that all came from him a Brooklyn guy a tough in your face like if you don't like it after you just win baby the reason the Superbowl rings are the way they are today is because al Davis you're only allowed to spend a certain amount of money on the rings so he maximize that and then he told the company charge me ten thousand dollars for the box of featuring and that's why they are where they are too which is amazing it was as the leader of the bad **** when it comes to the raiders yeah I mean look there's only one guy in the franchise they light a flame for the Florida game in its Davis so I agree with you that would've been my pick to thanks for the difficult trivia question back I would've had the I take back my compliment from earlier in the program about the split screen with me and Kristen and Peter Kay all right a boy and there's so many different ways you can go with this now we're gonna go with Ken Stabler yeah I think raiders I think Ken Stabler a guy who was denied admission to the hall of fame on justifiably for years a guy who led the team to its first ever Super Bowl win a lefty a guy who just in the seventies and and that was the era where I first discovered football the raiders were always good the raiders were always competitive that sea of hands throw that ended the dolphins dynasty at the end of the game the catch by Clarence Davis in the end zone incredible plays by Ken Stabler when I when I thought raiders I thought can state room and I thought he was the guy with the eye patch on on the side of the helmet that's the raiders to me and I he's always one of the first guys I think of when I think the Oakland Raiders yeah I get it I think that would have been my next pick two or within my first pick if you got al Davis yes I mean come on he's a lefty quarterback one he was a bad **** I mean you know just seems like the type to be hit by the drank a beer and smoke a cigarette at halftime in a game and been like a screw you of something to go out there and throw three touchdown passes quick story we're playing the raiders in two thousand four they're talking about me maybe becoming the starter and replacing Brad Johnson right we go out there to play a game I wear a throwback Ken Stabler Jersey to the game right and because I'm like I'm gonna pay tribute to a lefty here I'm gonna wear the white Ken Stabler Jersey and I'm thinking I'm cool and I got guys in the locker room like man that's a great Jersey all the sudden Jon Gruden and one of his assistants comes up to me and they were of livid that I wear why would you wear that Jersey I can't believe you wore that al Davis is gonna love that you wore that Jersey and I was like I'll okay I don't know what to say it I mean I wore the Jersey to pay respect to the guy but they were they were pissed off that I wore that Jersey that day did you hear Val Davis about it no I never did know but I got a little stunned the all time without Davis before that was a very very special time to be talking football they almost like talking to a bill Belichick where you just like wow this is amazing I fell out he did not most people there but he did not heart all right I'm stuck here there's so many good guys to pick from but I'm gonna go with one from my childhood that I really think of when I think of the razors and that's Lester Hayes Lester the molester haze okay because I just think he exudes raiders like in your face corner back member you status fingers tight taped up and he'd have them between his legs and wiggling his fingers like come on bring and then he had like the stick gum all over his hands and arms so when he did jam the receiver they almost like stuck doing that way but I gotta go with him because I just remember watching my dad play in you know nineteen eighty six and other year during that time frame and I was very young and just go on who is this guy where in thirty seven he's so cool and just in your face and of course he was one of the best corners in football and kind of just he he he meant raiders to mia and one of their own and one of their all time interception leaders for the Oakland Raiders as well yeah and and I remember those days when they had that stick images grouped all over I on their helmets on their shoes on their socks everywhere just just drip and I there's some photos out there and you can just see it is dripping off of Lester Hayes hands but he was at first the the the the first corner back the first modern cornerback for me that really resonate is a guy that just was a shut down guy they still kept throwing it his way and he still kept picking it off I'm going to stay and in this it really gets difficult there are so many so bad **** raiders are it over the years it's a made and this and and this guy was Super Bowl MVP even though Ken Stabler led them to their first Super Bowl win against Minnesota Vikings ever watch that fame game very closely and not being very happy with the raiders when it ended but for Belinda cough yeah it was incredible where that sloppy helmet with the the the two bar facemask and just get it back in those days you paid for it every time you caught a pass you pay for he probably pay fourteen practice against the likes of Jack Tatum and company definitely paid for during games but Fred Biletnikoff was was one of a kind hall of Famer they named the college football award after him for the best receiver every year political off was one of a kind in it again I feel but I feel like I'm gonna what we need to do five dial to get all the guys who deserve a hoodie got neck yeah well I know I I do I feel bad you're right I'm gonna go with how we long but I really want to pick kinda Jack Tatum till but it's the last one I'm gonna go I already picked the DB's on trying to change the wealth here I'm gonna go without a long because like how we long is I mean of course a hall of fame defensive linemen you know he kind of like exudes like tough this aid in your face in a silent type away maybe not as brash's you know some of the other personalities we talked about but also he's an Oakland raider to me from the standpoint of like okay you want to step outside the more in the bar and how we long will like me you know knock you out and like seven other people all at the same time I mean his head is the size of a cinder block okay so he's intimidating that way but then also very California Oakland raider is that where yeah he could beat you up in a bar fight but at the same time after that fights over go to a G. Q. cover shoot and be like GQ men of the year in Hollywood and so handsome in like perfect that way too and to me that's part of the raiders as well their showmanship it's their their Hollywood ness of that franchise to where how we long still doing great things on fox and TV and everything like that I got a a lot of respect for him my mother my mother has a head shot gigantic crush on Harry long back when he was playing Zaman ideally Wendy you know my and went she loved how they log out so and he's right he didn't he didn't you know he wasn't the guy that would take your helmet off in a year over the head with at least not when anyone was looking right and he had a different image than the other raider renegades like the bill Roman now skis allows a does the job at two sacks but still he was he was a bad **** in his own way yeah I do have to go Jack Tatum yeah I look what what what happened there Stingley was unfortunate it's something that you get ejected from the league for ever for view even came close to it nowadays I don't know how Jack table to survive in today's NFL but in the seventies that's the way it was in the NFL marketed it they may they eventually make the videos with all the big hits and Jack Tatum had a ton of them he was an Intimidator his book was they call me assassin and he lived up to it every time I was on a field there to think about that if you that's the Sammy white hit from Super Bowl eleven the knocked his helmet off we thought that was kind of quaint in need at the time yeah just football if you would do that now you would be removed by security you would be suspended and all right police over just shows how the game is changed how brutal it was back then and Jack Tatum was the guy who who was identified with that brand of football yeah def I mean do you want to talk about a receiver and you better have a your head on a swivel holy cow I mean there's no wonder the guy only played nine years in the NFL I mean not only did he knock other people I used to his body couldn't take anymore those car crash collisions but yeah he's certainly one of the guys that deserves to be on this list all right you got a more is that it well that's it yeah I'm more throw one more in well I mean like you said in awhile because I mean there's so many like because like Tim brown is awesome right at it but I don't know if I'm gonna put him in the bad **** category so I guess I kinda go Lyle's Saito next he's the one next guy that'll jump out to me that way you know just just again in your face grew unbelievable personality will beat you up and tense got a good you know talking crap on the sidelines yeah I mean we know we experimented with some drugs at the time to make himself even more of a bad **** and but I don't know holy cow he just throw that guy's helmet Adam I mean that's unbelievable that's a raider that's a bad **** thank you for supporting me with that video evidence side back in the control room I appreciate that I know he didn't play for the raiders for very long at most of this truth the Broncos but we only think of him as a writer yeah I mean it was like he was destined to be a rate god he and do you have football was different football was very different back in the eighties douse eight OO a quintessential raider blasphemies Ted's ten Hendricks the mad store yeah the first time I heard that nickname the mad store I thought that is awesome and Ted Hendrix was awesome he played with the team for nearly a decade he was with the calls for a while the Packers Rubicon like while Saito when he finally landed where was supposed to be all along it just it just worked and Ted Hendricks my last pick we had take a break we have more to.

"And long time NFL writer and he's part of the group that is picking the all time team receivers coming up next and obviously bay area Steve diehards and tradition one dot Hudson on the team Peter king many years ago wrote down Hudson is the greatest player in the history of the NFL while you look at the numbers and what he put up in the forties and fifties were the Packers yeah we called you're the greatest of all time and you just take it was they threw the ball a lot and every players that are gonna put up incredible S. catching numbers because they just it is just incredible Michael Thomas the start that he's off to New Orleans do you break everything you could break it up break Marvin Harrison single season this year and it's just as they throw it so much more dot Hudson years ago was just so we was like Babe Ruth or Wayne Gretzky with his stats when you stack up against other receivers so he's the best player no one's ever heard of the Peter's been making that point and I don't disagree with you look at it having started compared to Jerry rice but sherry obviously both sides of the bay is gonna he's gonna be number one it was cool about this is they bring him in studio with Bella check in Collins words in rich Eisen and I Jerry I'll be there then Randy moss I think we'll be there as well and then T. O. will make it yeah yeah how many they get a trim it down to just for wide receivers twelve yeah well I asked here and I'm not really sure but I I have a C. T. O. America again I guess he has two boys number it's three areas lovely I mean all time ranks in and I mean the I I don't think Jim Brown all make it is Tim brown of the last cut there now yeah I a and is there a lot of great wide receivers even like you know I would go to Paul Warfield in guys they didn't put up the whole lay **** Freddie Biletnikoff would you have him on that list is on the finalist yeah I mean I would put bill in a call for Tim brown it would still visit it you know stress for younger people than they did like said they just look at stats and the game is totally different lance Alworth are totally rainfall berries in there but let it kind of Chris Carter Tom fears later feature Marvin Harrison Bob Hayes crazy legs Hirsch don Hutson Michael Irvin Calvin Johnson Charlie joiner Steve l'argent Dante Lavelli James Lofton don mater Randy moss Terrell Owens Jerry rice John Stallworth Charlie Taylor played down Maynard's interesting but the jazz seven that was you know George sour and don Maynard was been Maynard was low as name is steep target they they didn't put up the name that war feels obviously on that restoring gathered for worship what lance Alworth and powerful definitely it's interesting we'll see you know how do they even research this image to go back and watch video footage every it's hard to compare stats and it's a little like baseball with the steroid era and just a proliferation of of runs and how they played with the game the dead ball era verses whatever they're doing with the ball now versus the PD era so you can't just look at stats and Tom fears of the rams still holds a lot of records that was years and years ago I played the fifties so it's hard to do these like is it just because of what you just said it's hard and then you have recency bias at all these kind of things that's you know it's I don't know how you do it my whole thing is always been like I'll take this to the hall of fame because it's a similar kind of thing where I would say if I have to look at the numbers of a guy then he's not a hall of Famer because you know hall of Famer like when you hear a guy's name a disco it is always list is different yeah you know and it's a line that I always have about guy what they're doing is they're pick in the hall of fame's hall of fame right if you have you have you guys now we we get to play a game with every were dont yet very best players that's a great question asked when you think about that is like okay you've got to pick a team there you go wide receiver but you're right Sir he wandered be those who would be the ultimate second wide receiver that's this is I would think this is a great debate with receivers we all we just go Jerry's he's ready for a long time it is what Joe I think part raise a probably of their now whatever that's a great quarterback but I think this might be the greatest debate of position in football in terms of okay if Jerry's number one number two that's why I mean you actually trying to play a game I'm just yes I'm for the rob tree I what I'd want the best deep all threat that's ever been in that would be Debbie Randy even the Randy moss legend that run the full rock tree he was limited he did not like to run across the field and I'd like to run shallow crosses he would run a jeep JK but he was more of a of a goal router nine route a vertical bang a you know more about vertical straight ahead and just use it Billy the G. is job jump you I mean Randy was a problem and I saw first hand with the raiders how he would just quit on a team but you have to acknowledge him so if you had I am in all honesty if you put a team together just an ability of Jerry Randy and T. L. you probably have it all about covered I I'd probably I mean if you want to go to a three wide receiver set which is the modern day you probably want to have more of a slot wide receiver and Belinda cough did not play in this slot factor raider started the slot formation they called it these formation Mike see ani the young a wide receiver from Villanova they drafted would go inside the slot and you know it's ready on the outside influence Freddie would really great slot giving you issues a short area quickness would be great but yeah I mean Wes Welker in morning eyes wide receiver coach I think arguably we look at the statue the best wide receiver in the slot but would you put him he's not even on that list so I'm just looking at you know playing a game but I think you start with jerian Randy would you just ability yeah back you know I'd probably take Warfield in the slot it could take a lot of guys of this lot Belinda call for well I I you know what it's going to take it I I would you take Randy moss even over lance all words I mean lance all words was just such a great Bambi the way Randy was just a deer anywhere the wait like a drain is more of a two foot jumper like a basketball player come to a two foot stop and then jump in Gol high point the ball lance all words would jump off one foot he would run the route down and then just chop off the inside leg and then just drop in the air and just so beautifully make the catch over a crowd but in the football so different then but in the AFL they threw the ball deep as so many guys so we forget about here awful man goes on and I will talk to with your bell coming up next year as part of the committee that is voting for this and wide receivers are up next we're gonna that conversations are lively by stating rumor to Ryan power hour from noon to one today so make sure you participate in that only on the four to you're locked into pop and line on KNBR one oh four nine six eight the sports leader he's the voice of the nineteen.

"Way. You Double Team chased one of these tackles. It's GonNa be the best team. He's faced all year. And then you gotta give the First Guard slot two why it Davis from Ohio State. The only all American lineman playing in the playoff. How about that not a single woman? That was an all American is playoff except why at Davis he was the top rated guard hard in all the power. Five football a road grader. In the run game plays nasty and then how about this. There is eight offensive guards in all the power five I football all the teams that have allowed zero secs eight. Total Davis is one of them. The other had to Jona Jackson because I actually think despite what dominant Y it's been in the run game. I think Jona Jackson is a better overall guard right now maybe not. It's neck and neck. I like them both but first team all big ten. He's the number four graded garden all the power five sixteen best pass pro ten pressures total. So those are my guards and now the center back to Clemson Listen Sean Pollard. third-best past Bro Center and all the power five football. He's allowed four total pressures ninety nine point two percent efficiency. Pass Bro second-best Kim best run blocking great in the playoff second to Josh Meyers about that. So about two good offense lines Clemson Ohio state not LSU and gloom of all all of my all college football playoff odds alignment they all play in the fiesta bowl. semi-final thing about that. How about this just a couple of other side notes cool stats? Let's allowed. Pressures by starting tackles starting tackles already told you that the two starting tackles for Clemson have zero oh sax now is talking about total pressures Clemson's twenty-three just the tackles Ohio state thirty three LSU forty two Oklahoma forty seven think about that. Oklahoma is twice wasted. Many pressures allowed by their tackles and Clemson. The top. Three graded tackles playing in the playoff over. Four hundred fifty snaps are are all playing for Clemson. All three thirteen starting tackles and all the power five. Football have not allowed sack. This season. And both of Clemson's tackles Are Amongst those thirteen so I wanted to look at the overall just real quick. Let's just analyze the four line that are going to be rolling out in the playoffs. The second most efficient Olenin Pass America was Clemson Ninety Four Percent Ohio state twenty eighth best. Impasse Bro Oklahoma thirty first. LSU thirty third. That's what makes Joe Borough what he's about to win and has done this year. So impressive the worst line going into the playoff is Lsu. Two of the four teams in the playoff have all conference centers. How `Bout that creed Humphry at Oklahoma and Lloyd cushenberry at Lsu? Now this kid issue I just told you there. Oh Line's been average and I watch them on film home and this kid he's a he's a decent player he's also they've also throwing the ball a shit ton but he's allowed twenty-seven pressures this year more than double any of the other centers in the playoffs. It's third worst. I in power five football most all centers and he was all SEC. So let's shut the fuck up about SEC bias. Your Best Center in your conference was the third worst in power or five football. What I don't I don't know how to do math but there's fourteen teams and SEC? How was he the best? I guess the run game but I want to get to the perimeter and I will tell you this finish up the offense real quick get into the perimeter players versus tight end none. I'm not playing a tight end if I'm if I'm the head coach I'm going four wide not a chance. They only have one tight end in all four teams that has over two hundred yards receiving its Thaddeus Moss. LSU Who's a good player. But if I have these four teams and can make an all star team. I'm going four wide. Not a chance in hell and putting any of those tight ends on the field and I don't care if we run the ball I I I pick CD Lamb Liam Oklahoma shocked. He didn't win the blink off. He's the third most productive receiver in America. Third most receiving touchdowns in America. How did this? CD LAMB now this is not a little scat receiver has the second. He's forced twenty-five missed tackles the second most by a wide receiver in football seventh in America. Twenty one years secured catch so CD lambs on one side. My other side I got to roll with t higgins from Clemson the number one greater receiver power five football get ready for a dogfight of dogfights the number one graded receiver versus the number one graded corner in Jeff. Okuda could've dogfight in the semi-final he's a second most productive receiver six most receiving touchdowns in America. He's tied for the fourth most effective deep ball wide receiver in the country. How about this t higgins catches two out of every three two out of three D. balls every three D. ballsy throat throat? Ta Gins he catches to now. My my wildcard. The Guy I had to put in over a tight end once evaluated all the tight ends. Was Chris Alavi from Ohio State. He's a seventh most productive in America. But he did. He wasn't going to be on my initial risk list because he's kind of role player right now. He's not a staple the offense though he's controls increase the snaps have increased. But listen to this stat. That is indicative of Chris Alavi Production. He's the only player in America with double double digit touchdown catches and less than fifty receptions. He's scored more touchdowns on less sketches. That means he is a dynamic player. And just hasn't gotten looks got into touches and then my fourth receiver obviously the Belinda cough award-winning marches from Lsu. Absolutely freak show. The number two receiver power five football most has eighteen touchdowns he is twelfth in America he ever just almost twenty one yards per catch. He's tied for fourth t higgins at the most effective receiver. So love if this is my all star team I have damore chase on one side. And I have t higgins on the other if I throw up six deep balls to those two four of them were caught now a couple of the guys that I really liked and a couple of side stats one Justin Jefferson Lsu the number three greatest slot power five football. He's GonNa have a tremendous impact in this playoff game. And then maybe the National Championship K J hill the number eight graded slot and powerful. I football was I. Guess an honorable mention and side note. Ohio Ohio State's. All Time Leader in receptions insane considering the history of receivers Ohio state has had and then the other note. How about this for you Justin? Ross the Clemson freak show Oh from from the state of Alabama by the way has the most drops of any receiver in the College Football playoff. Yes six drops more than anyone else in all four teams that it was a lot of analytics a lot of analytics. And what what. Basically what I've really found out as I started evaluating these positions as Clemson and Ohio state are the two best teams in in the country. Right now and it's evident as you look at the talent that they have. And how talented play. But I want to the defense real quick. We're gonNA take a break. I need to get a drink drink water but we'll be right back after this. I have a question for you. Which of your online searches does the government have the right to know about whether it's maybe a your late night theatrics or your antics or maybe the fact that you have a pinterest account does the government deserve to know about those searches to answer none of them if if you have expressed vpn they won't without express VPN's protection though hackers governments add companies and ISP's all have full access to your data? I I don't want them using my web history or video searches against me. That's.

pay fourteen practice against the likes of Jack Tatum and company definitely paid for during games but for Belinda cough was was one of a kind hall of Famer they named the college football award after him for the best receiver every year political office one of a kind in it again I feel but I feel like I'm gonna what we need to do five dial to get all the guys who deserve a hoodie got neck yeah well I know I I do I feel bad you're right I'm gonna go with how we long but I really want to pick kinda Jack Tatum till but it's the last one I'm gonna go I already picked the DB some trying to change the wealth here I'm gonna go without a long because like how we long is I mean of course a hall of fame defensive linemen you know he kind of like exudes like tough this aid in your face in a silent type away maybe not as brash's you know some of the other personalities we talked about but also he's an Oakland raider to me from the standpoint of like okay you want to step outside the more in the bar and how we long will like me you know knock you out and like seven other people all at the same time I mean his head is the size of a cinder block okay so he's intimidating that way but then also very California Oakland raider is that where yeah he could beat you up in a bar fight but at the same time after that fights over go to a G. Q. cover shoot and be like G. Q. men of the year in Hollywood and so handsome in like perfect that way too and to me that's part of the raiders as well their showmanship it's their their Hollywood ness of that franchise to where how we long still doing great things on fox and TV and everything like that I got a a lot of respect for him my mother my mother has a passion gigantic crush on Harry long back when he was playing Zaman ideally Wendy you know my and went she loved how they log out so and he's right he didn't he didn't you know he wasn't the guy that would take your helmet off in a year over the head with at least not when anyone was looking right and he had a different image than the other raider renegades like the bill Roman now skis allows a does the job at two sacks but still he was he was a bad **** in his own way yeah I do have to go Jack Tatum yeah I look what what what happened there Stingley was unfortunate it's something that you get ejected from the league for ever for view even came close to it nowadays I don't know how Jack Tatum were to survive in today's NFL but in the seventies that's the way it was in the NFL marketed it they mean a venture would make the videos with all the big hits and Jack Tatum had a ton of them he was an Intimidator his book was they call me assassin and he lived up to it every time I was on a field there to think about that if you that's the hot Sammy white hit from Super Bowl eleven that knocked his helmet off we thought that was kind of quaint in need at the time yeah just football if you would do that now you would be removed by security you would be suspended and all right police over your shows how the game is changed how brutal it was back then and Jack Tatum was the guy who who was identified with that brand of football yeah def I mean do you want to talk about a receiver and you better have a your head on a swivel holy cow I mean there's no wonder the guy only played nine years in the NFL I mean not only did he knock other people I used to his body couldn't take anymore those car crash collisions but yeah he's certainly one of the guys that deserves to be on this list all right you got anymore is that it well that's it yeah I'm more throw one more in well I mean like you said awhile because I mean there's so many like because like Tim brown is awesome right at it but I don't know if I'm gonna put him in the bad **** category so I guess I kinda go Lyle's aid next he's the one next guide it'll jump out to me that way you know just just again in your face grew unbelievable personality will beat you up and tense got a good you know the talking crap on the sidelines yeah I mean we know we experimented with some drugs at the time to make himself even more of a bad **** and but I don't know holy cow he just throw that guy's helmet Adam I mean that's unbelievable that's a raider that's a bad **** thank you for supporting me with that video evidence side back in the control room I appreciate that I know he didn't play for the raiders for very long at most of his truth the Broncos but we only think of him as a writer yeah I mean it was like he was destined to be a rate god he and do you have football was different football was very different back in the eighties douse eight OO a quintessential raider blasphemies Ted's ten Hendricks the mad store yeah the first time I heard that nickname the mad store I thought that is awesome and Ted Hendrix was awesome he played with the team for nearly a decade he was with the calls for a while the Packers rear but kinda like I'll say no when he finally landed where was supposed to be all along it just it just worked and Ted Hendricks my last pick we had take a break where turn some troubling injury news for the New Orleans Saints plus whatever else we jam into the final segment the program PFT live be back right after this.
