Is New England Patriots GM Bill Belichick in the hot seat?
"Bill belichick may be the most winningest coach in the nfl. But after the patriots finished last season with a losing record. While you know at the same time seeing mr tom brady capturing number seven with the buffs former. Nfl linebacker lavar. Robert Kraft Gives Honest Assessment of Patriots Drafting
"Heard from Robert Kraft yesterday was a man who was completely honest about where the the team is in a lot of different areas. I wouldn't will get into this but I don't think his quarterback comments were Something to really weigh in heavily on but I do think that overall I mean him talking about, you know, the draft specifically the personality just sound thrilled with having to Shell out as much money as he did and he basically admitted that the only reason they had to do that cuz they didn't draft well in recent years and and he committed what a lot of us have said where it's not sustainable to do that. You need the draft to be the lifeblood of your team so that you can do other things like you can't just every three years song ten free agents. It just it it's probably not going to happen be it's not economically feasible. And so I thought it was very refreshing for Robert to to talk to the assemblage yesterday and and really be honest and I think you know in judging from the comments at Boston Sports Journal com from my column off of this press conference wage. Think on a whole I thought the Patriots the Patriots fans reacted very well to it that are really like, okay. Well, at least now we know that the person in charge realizes is a isn't happy about it called last season horrible and B thinks that the team has made correction and is moving in the right direction. That's all anybody ever wanted to to hear from anybody at at one page place and they heard it from Craft and I think it made Patriot Nation breathe a little bit easier. Not that they weren't confident in Bill Belichick rebounding in any event, but I just think it reinforced that. All right. Well, we're still the Patriots thought we had a we had an off-year didn't go well we're going to correct things were going to get things back on track.
Kraft Admits Patriots Are Not Perfect
"Kraft speaking some truth Greg about the 2020 season and how the team got to this point. Yeah, I thought it was really refreshing Nick. I thought that you know, look the only person I understand how the Patriots are set up and I don't disagree with the way the Patriots are set up that page during the football season bills the one who talks for the football organization and I get it. I don't disagree with it, but it's a little bit problematic when off season is going down the tubes and you're not getting any real answers from the chief executive of the football team like this past season with Belichick. He basically deflected everything off at defensive about any questions. Look he's in charge of the team. I understand pointed comments about say there. Their inability to draft. Well the past couple of years wouldn't exactly reflect. Well on the players, he's currently trying to coach but there is a way to say what everybody wants said without saying it and Bill just decides to do things the quickest way possible the easy way possible. I understand why he does it I'm not going to I'm not criticizing him for it. But it it does cause problems when the team looks like it's floundering off where we going. What is the direction things like that? And no one's answering any questions directly and what I heard from Robert Kraft yesterday was a man who was completely honest about where the the team is in a lot of different areas.

Top 10 players signed by Patriots
"Talk about the Patriots. The the Patriots grabbed everybody's attention by making move after move after move after move. Like we're watching it over agency going off. How many people are going to bring in its kind of unbelievable how many starters they've added? And so I count they added ten players that I think are very very significant to their team next year. In fact, I would say pretty clearly the Patriots are back and a lot of people saw this coming, you know, but they are going to be a force in the NFL next year here is my list my nerdy list of the ten players the top players. They added that are very significant to their roster next year. The first two are massive. It will reshape the entire Patriots offense. They added two tight ends Johnny Smith and Ed Hunter Henry. To Johnny Smith signed from Tennessee. He signed a four year deal worth up to fifty million dollars. That's Thirty one point two five million dollars guaranteed and he's only twenty-four years old. So that's Monday. That's a really gigantic Marquis franchise player. He cited the reason why it came to New England is cuz he loves Bill Belichick. He's got great respect for him. And I want to point out of all the everybody I'm about to talk about these shows to be in New England Bill Belichick got his kind of guys who sought out New England wanted to be there and wanted to work hard and win a Superbowl. I think it matters. It's very very exciting. These are not with Josh Gordon's or what's the other example Phillip Dorsett who they made a move for and they're not really like that. You think they fit they don't work out know. These are guys who all chose to be in New England who wanted to win a Superbowl. I really want to win a Superbowl. These guys went out of their way to be New England now the other tight and they brought in With twenty-six-year-old tight end Hunter Henry from the LA Chargers got a three-year deal twenty-five million dollars guaranteed. It's worth up to thirty seven point five million dollars total if he meets all those incentives. They also added two wide receivers the Patriots brought in Nelson agholor to a you got a two year twenty six million dollar contract East twelve years old. Now a lot of people do not like this move and I I get it Nelson agholor is not the most flashy player in the NFL but I think if it's very well with Cam Newton, he's good at he's not going up and getting the ball. He's got good hands did some stuff of the Raiders that I think deserves your attention go watch what he did with the Raiders and I just I'm like, huh a lot of good plays. Okay. I understand. I see the potential Bill Belichick and the Patriots would see and Nelson agholor go will give the guy a good contract, especially considering the Patriots have like our desolate at wide receiver. They need help. They got home. Who is awesome but he can't do everything by himself from the slot. They have n'keal Harry who n'keal Harry. I I think he's going to pop. I think he's going to progress and keep getting better. But she's not a number one right now. So on top of the page where it's also added Kendrick Bourne guy from my local area actually went to Eastern Washington University 25 years old. He's coming from the San Francisco 49ers. He got a three year deal worth twenty two point five million dollars. Now another thing the Patriots did they also added they signed Center Ted carriages and they traded for tackle Trent Brown. So this is the new Patriots offense right now. They've receivers Nelson agholor, Julian Edelman Kendrick born and kill hair is its own nuclear Aguilera. I'm doing my best. It's a hard game to say. They also have Sony Michelle running backs for any receivers Sony Michelle at running back and improved offensive line. Cam Newton at quarterback who I get why people doubt Cam? He's a former NFL MVP and with when you put cams Talent with a lot of weapons including two outstanding tight ends Hunter Henry Smith, right man. I'll tell you what I look at the Patriots offense and think two things immediately number one. Everything is going to run through their brand new Titans. Their entire offense now is probably going to drive down the seams of the field right up the middle. They're going to use our tents heavily lot of play-action again. I am scheme wise things will look a lot like the page words did back in the day when they had drunk and Aaron Hernandez together to start tight ends. Now number two. I feel very very confident with Cam Newton as the Patriots quarterback and it surprised me but I want to remind you that two years ago. Tom Brady was the page word starting quarterback and did basically nothing and the reason was there were no weapons there. He kept running into the same brick wall. His receivers weren't good enough. So, how can I think you and I would both agree. I like Cam Newton Tom Brady's a better quarterback than Cam Newton. So my point is if Tom Brady couldn't make it work with New England's roster. How was Cam Newton supposed to succeed? He was set up to fail will now Cam Newton's being given weapons is being set up to do. Well, I'm excited man. He's a former NFL MVP, he's hungry. I I personally believe Cam Newton's going to have an awesome year and it really is going to make extended one-year deal with like it was like three and a half million dollars with a bunch of incentives. I honestly think we're gonna look back at his contract at the end of next year and go. Can you believe the deal they got on Camden he played so well for no money. I really think he's he's a guy who can didn't play well enough wage. Last year to earn a new gigantic contract. So he's going to have to show what he can do this year and maybe earn more money next year but I think cam is poised to do very very well and make a lot of money and win a lot of games in New England
Seattle Seahawks Today: Latest Rumors On A Russell Wilson Trade
"Originally or a few a few weeks ago russell. Wilson's camp released some information that he was unhappy in seattle. They have not formally requested a trade but it seems like the relationship has some conflict there. he has a no trade clause in his contract. There were specific exemptions from four. Team's the cowboys. The saints the bears and las vegas after dak prescott signed is extent like talked about and the raiders recently have back derek carr. They've given their full support. They they wanna move forward their cars. So that really leaves the saints and the bears as the final two candidates for possibly getting russell wilson this offseason so saints are always in salary cap trouble From what. I've learned about the salary cap they can. They ended up being able to just move money around when they need to. But they're always close to reaching that point so they're always during the cat but it seems unlikely that they will be able to make a move for quarterback this price in this caliber. So when you re comes down to it. The bears like the front runners as the most desperate team. Four quarterback if you've watched the nfl shares have always had quarterback issues. They've been in quarterback hell so to speak for the past two decades and russell. Wilson could come in and immediately fix that so the bears are desperate. And i see the bears as the front running candidate to lead russell wilson or land russell. Wilson this offseason. So when did all this start with russell. wilson is come out of nowhere I would say to myself when i first saw. Russell wilson wants out. I was shocked. But although it's not that cut and dry comes down to russell wilson. Mp carol's relationship. So they've won a superbowl. They made playoffs made. They made the playoffs. Eight times in the last nine seasons which is absurd. It's absurd to think there was wasn't been playing in the nfl for the last nine seasons But he's been assault as they come. He's true winner. he goes to the playoffs. he's clutch and i see. The situation is very similar to the tom. Brady situation new england. You had tom brady and bill play for all those years. Winning all those super bowls and talk. Although tom brady wasn't playing up to his level he wasn't playing bad and they had that loss to the titans of the playoffs. And i think he just had those two egos bill. Belichick and tom brady kind of going at each other. And they've they've finally kind of just tired of that relationship and they wanted to move on. They wanted to start. Something new. And when quarterbacks are with the head coach for so long things start to take a turn for the worst so. I'm not sure if that's exactly what's happening with p carroll and russell wilson but there are a lot of similarities there so it was reported in week. Eleven of the season. That wilson stormed out of an offensive meeting when he was trying to offer insight as to what he wanted done as on a bit done for protection standpoint and so that was the first sign the second sign is just overall. He's been getting hit way. Too much. says he's sacked. He's been three hundred ninety four times since entering the league which is on pace to be the most sat quarterback of all time which is pretty insane when you consider how well he's played and he's just been under duress running for his life literally for the last his whole career and so seattle hasn't found a way to kind of sure up that protection for him. I think that's starting to get frustrating as well. So but more specifically in two thousand twenty. He had a week nine loss to the bills. This was a defining moment for this offense offense because after that moment. Russell wilson had started to throw a lot of turnovers making a lot of risky plays they lose to the bills. The seahawks kind of started to scale the offense back like i said to limit turnovers and did not perform well for the rest of the season so before that game. They were top. Three league based on expected points added per play. They were the number three the top three leak and then after that game from from weeknight on they felt a number eighteen the remainder of the season. So that's a huge huge drop off so they really sputtered down the stretch. They were able to win games and make the playoffs through to their defense. Kind of picking picking up. Their play was weird. Their offense was so good in the beginning the defense awful and he kind of flipped that latter half of the year but he's also getting hit It doesn't seem to meet on their offensive loss of beat philosophy and he. He's definitely voiced that he wants more of a say. In the franchise direction as the franchise quarterback so all these things culminating into one is. Where would he end up.
Cam Newton Re-Signing With Boston's Patriots: Making Sense Of The Move
"I do wanna move to the quarterback news today tony because bill ballot check and cam. Newton have apparently decided to run it back next season with the patriots agreeing to terms with newton on a one year. Deal with up to fourteen million dollars. Newton did struggle down the stretch famously. Last season tony. So does this move makes sense to you. It's so charitable that you'd say he struggled down the stretch. He struggled from the moment he got in there. He had twelve rushing touchdowns which is wonderful but he had eight passing touchdowns and ten interceptions. I want to get the stats right. Here he was. I mean he couldn't throw downfield. He was twenty eighth in passing rating and he was deadliest in yards per game. And so you asked me. Does it make sense. And i'm going to tell you declarative in affirmatively. It does make sense because he's a professional quarterback right and he took responsible. He was terrible last year. He couldn't throw it but he took responsibility after every loss. He said this is my fault. He was a leader. The other players revered him as a leader. The coaching staff loved him as leader. Belichick him. Personally the worst that can happen problem is that he becomes a backup. And would you trust your team to the backup cam newton after all these years. Yes you would. It does feel like the contract. You give to maybe charitably again. A high end. Backup tony because look the deal as it is six billion dollars again or wrapped up in incentives and honors and playoff achievement. So a lot of this really does hinge on how we actually plays in real time but the other thing about this. That clear is that this is just mr right now for bill belichick. This is not mr right. They're going to go and look around. And there is a phrase that i think of another piece of wisdom from someone else that by the way describes nothing about my own personal life or philosophies but you are as faithful as your options. What some wise men believe bill. Belichick is faithful to cam newton right now because there aren't options otherwise at that price but is it going to look at the draft and say. Can we get another quarterback absolutely. Oh he'll look at the draft. And maybe mack jones will be there and maybe trade lance will be there and he'll maybe everybody talks about him requiring jimmy garoppolo very when he's not having broken bones but he has broken bones a lot you. It is at the moment to marriage of convenience. But i will say three things. One cam had no training camp last year none too. He actually had toronto virus himself and might have been in a depleted physical condition. And three m. it's it's just hard for me to believe that he would be this bad again. I you know. I got to be a little bit better but again again. My point would be if you were stuck with cam. Newton that's like being stuck with twenty five other backups. This guy who was the mvp at one point and on muscle memory alone. He could probably make something happen. Maybe maybe i'm being naive about this. I don't
What the Trent Brown trade tells us about Bill Belichick’s thinking
"Notable today trent brown. The you know pro bowl top you know. Left tackle offensive tackle in the entire. Nfl when the top guys on they traded him back to the patriots this interesting he was unhappy clearly The raiders were unhappy clearly because he's barely played so even while the raiders had like this dominant offense align at times. Trent brown was even playing for them. Sometimes you know last year. I feel like he barely played due to injuries and everything else. So the raiders weren't appreciate the effort. They felt like he could push through some of that probably. They felt like he was out of shape. You know Might may i came out and said that that when he's in shape and healthy is one of the best hackles ofo ball when he's not he's no good for you so My assumption is my guess of. I had to predict out. Trent brown will be entirely healthy next year. Because he's a patriot now and so he will not do injury concerns. He won't have all these issues because he's happy because he thinks he's on a winning team. No surprise surprise. Trent brown the patriots wearing good last year. The patriots. don't even have a quarterback sir. They don't if he can't come back. That's great but bro. You don't even know your protection. You don't even know how this even the plow because they didn't play out so hot last year now another get a lot of players back that You know took a year off because of covid. I fully assume. Bill belichick is anna. Start to repair this team. The best he can But you know the they're left guard go. I believe they decided to franchise tag him. That'll be interesting. But this always you know as a raiders fan. This kind of stuff always annoys me because players leave the traded with ever. They go to another team. Take the pay cut because he was getting paid. More with the raiders. That was annoys move. Obviously the raiders always play pay. You know a bonus they always have to pay up compared to other teams especially a successful team like the patriots so right so okay that comes with the territory. Donate to play the game. I respect that. And then you know. I hate when these guys on twitter and they started. Tweet tweeting my. They're so happy so excited. It gives me those antonio brown vibes when he left the raiders. So yeah that's it's frustrating but listen term row with some non baloch patriots at which But it's raiders all
Jimmy Garoppolo Is Reportedly ‘Plan A’ For Patriots At Quarterback
"So much has been made about the potential of a reunion between jimmy g. and bill be in new england. The forty nine. A quarterback is under contract for two more seasons but new england needs a quarterback and they may look to trade for garappolo that is according to a very interesting piece. That are mike. Reese put together over the weekend who covers the patriots for so well and he gets up with us earlier today. Mike for those who did not read. It gives us a sense of your thinking on the possibilities. Here of jimmy g. Coming back to foxborough so good morning green. I would say as a reporter covering the team there so much secrecy around the patriots quarterback plans so i was asking myself the question. What do i know for fact and for fact. What i know is that the patriots bill. Belichick he holds jimmy garoppolo in such high regard. And it's one thing for me to say it. But i could actually show it to you. I mean there was a picture after the forty niners handed the patriots their worst home loss in two decades under bill belichick. We're bill belichick. Steve on the field to talk with jimmy garoppolo and josh mcdaniels. The offensive coordinator was standing nearby for his. Turn to talk to jimmy garoppolo. So the point. Is this screening. If the patriots believe jimmy garoppolo is their plan a and the big gap to plan b. Now is the time for them to at least test. The forty niners commitment to jimmy g. and so then. That begets the obvious next question which is if they do decide to your point that that's what they wanna do. How do they get it done. Well got to give credit to michael lombardi. The longtime nfl front office man who was here with the patriots when the patriots drafted garoppolo in two thousand and fourteen on his podcast. The gm shuffle. He said how about sam darnold going from the jets to the forty niners who in turn with then trade jimmy garoppolo in a situation controlled by garoppolo. 'cause he has a no trade clause and you saw the respect. There was mutual between the patriots and garoppolo. Well you'd think jimmy might like the idea of a homecoming in that scenario greenie. That could work for everyone. The forty niners would pick up a lot of cap space in that exchange. The patriots would get their quarterback through they respect so much in the jets. Your jets would probably take a quarterback at number two which might be their preference anyway.
Greg Cosell breaks down Patriots QB candidates
"Pleased to welcome in Greg Cosell. Everybody knows over forty years and NFL films the guru over various the matchup show. You know, he's he's seen it all he's done it all he's and in fact, he's been one of my mentors over the years. He's welcomed me in the NFL films to watch wage different film with different people. I think he's one of the most knowledgeable people around the NFL in terms of film and I love the way he analyzes things in in fact listening to him off of recenters me in terms of I need to look at things a little bit more at a distance Greg. Thanks for joining us. I really appreciate it Greg. It's my pleasure to put a while my friend. It has been a while back, but I wanted to get you in on this and you're actually the first outside guess that I've had on my podcasts and you know, obviously the Patriots are at a weird time in the Their existence at least since Bill Belichick has been there with with Tom Brady gone and what they went through last year with Cam Newton. So they are obviously looking for their next quarterback and and that could go wrong in a variety of different ways. And I wanted to have you on just to get sort of your opinion what you've seen how you think things fit with the Patriots in terms of guys that are available right now veterans and also some of the Practical quarterback so but first I want to start with let's go back to this past season. I don't know how much you watch the Patriots considering they fell off a map there about this way of it took. Okay. So I just wanted to get your general impressions of the Patriots offense first year without Tom Brady Cam Newton in there. Just what did you see? What did you think of cams faith? And and why did you think things didn't go great for the Patriots offense last year, you know the best way I can answer that is just with what the film showed because I don't know Greg is you know the game Ovation, you know, I'm certainly not there. I don't know what's in Bill Belichick's head, but they played as if they did not want the passing game to be a big factor in their offense. Now, I'm not going to sit here and say that's Cam Newton. Like I said, I don't know the reasoning behind it. But we know in a league in which the passing game is clearly more predominant with the exception of maybe two or three teenage more predominant that the running game and clearly more so that the Patriots were not one of those teams. They were numerous games that I watched on tape where I felt watching the tape that they don't really want to throw the ball very much. So again, I can't speak to the reason why but we know in today's NFL it's hard to win a thousand up a lot of points playing that way. In in no question, I one thing I wanted to know I certainly have my opinion from watching them over the years and no one expected Cam Newton to come in and be Tom Brady at the line of scrimmage before the snap. But God, how did it appear to you that the Patriots were limited and what they did as far as checks audibles things like that that we would have seen them do in the past. I would say that's fair. You know, it's always hard to know so many people's you know on Twitter social media think they know what a quarterbacks doing at the line of scrimmage. I'm not that smart Greg. I do not know what the quarterbacks doing at the line of scrimmage just because I hear him yell out a few words. So, you know it appeared to be the case that they did less at the line of scrimmage cuz certainly one of the things that God has made Tom Brady great and there's obviously many things but one of the things that I always thought made him great was he won a large percentage of the Downs before the ball was snapped off. I never got the sense that that was Cam Newton's game even in Carolina, which doesn't mean he never did that. Of course every Quarterback does That to some degree but I thought that that was one of the the key components of Tom Brady's game. So my sense is they did not do quite as much of that this year. But then again, I don't think their offense had as many elements to age. Which goes back to my initial point I can't speak to why that was the case, but it didn't strike me that it has as many elements to it. When cam did throw the ball or when he went back to past? How long do you think he did as a whole on the season as far as you know, making the right read and also, you know, just the way he threw the ball. I think he was pretty much the cam that he's always been I think he's always been a little bit erratic. I think he's streaky. I think he'll miss throws that are relatively routine that he should make an make some throws and you go. Wow that guy can really throw it. I think that's the way he's been much of his career. He's always had some scattershot Tendencies and he'll miss some so I think that he was really no different this year than he has been in previous years. He obviously through the ball less than he had in previous years with the exception of a couple of games. It was not an offense. Other than the Running part of it, it was not really an offensive built around him throwing the football. Yeah,
What Comes Next for Kim Kardashian as She Navigates Her Future Amid Kanye West Divorce
"Can we say who do we. Think is the gonna come out as the winner of the kim and kanye divorce. There's no real winners in divorce. Of course of course. That's what sad is a winner of the bill belichick. Tom brady divorce now. It's true that is true. There's clearly I think it is interesting because when when they started getting married like is one of the greatest artists of all time. These kim kardashian. And i do think like her star wrote so much. Yeah in his didn't over the time and that part of that is the kardashian. Pr machine keep themselves on top. That like. I do think she's coming out on here. I agree i agree. I think kim up on you down. Yeah she has the most support for sure like just like you say a pr wise. She's gonna flip this into some money in be. Yeah she's also it'd be at a write her book and tell her story about being married to kanye west and stuff so a lot of money coming that way but also. I'm very proud of congress. He had a pre-nup so you know he was able to protect themselves. Thirty -ironically probably move. Because now she has more money than him for sure for eight. I think he was like when they were buying stuff. He was spending the money out years but also like she's she's gone to the moon since they since they started. I asked to do a lot of research on this. I think they're both worth over a billion dollars So there's really they have like four forbes or fortune one of those magazines did like a deep dive in the county's finances and said he's not a billionaire recently but he has like seven hundred million. He doesn't need a handout. From the three of us you know will this divorce be a blow to his political career. had like no votes in the election really blew by like it was the big story for a day. We chester went over this on defense he got a shockingly low number of votes And he was losing to third. The third party candidates. You've never heard of a lot of states wasn't on the ballot. Is that if you're going in there. And you're like i hate trump but i i also managed to invite in like. Wouldn't you rather vote for kanye then. I don't think than anybody was thinking that. Yeah absolutely no. We'll nobody thought that because he didn't get more than like five thousand votes in almost any state It's a fair assessment. Considering our former president was a reality tv star as well so you know maybe that was brought out a new level of you know fandome for voting you know like all the tv stars are going to get behind the kardashians. Are they going to get behind trump.
Why 10 Super Bowl Appearances Won't Satisfy Tom Brady
"Hey thanks for joining me man. Good to be here. Seth wicker sham is a senior writer at espn and he's covered. Tom brady since his rookie year in the nfl. Words with you. Seth you are. Espn's resident. tom. Brady you've been covering brady for nearly twenty years. I believe at this point. You're the first person to report. That brady was looking for a way out of new england back when that was on thinkable and honestly kind of dangerous to suggest in the boston area. But your piece out. Today ahead of. Tom brady's tenth super bowl in tampa bay with the buccaneers. It actually begins a decade ago back in new england. What happened a couple years ago. I was in tom. Brady's house and we were in his living room and he was telling a funny story about bill belichick. It was a saturday morning meeting before a game against new york. Jets and bella. Check was watching film of mark sanchez. Running out of the pocket rolling to his right players it is heels and he had a wide open receiver about sixty yards downfield on the opposite hash. So that's an almost impossible. Throw to attempt. I mean few quarterbacks ever would try that throw even fewer would complete it and the way that brady told it to me. That ballot check was just watching the play unfold and he was like just throw it. He's wide open. Why isn't sanchez. Throwing the ball and brady's little thought bubble was hilarious because he was thinking. I would never even attempt that throw. Do you have any idea how i would look in. Tried to throw that ball. And meanwhile checks just like can't get even more open. He can't get more open. Just throw it in. The way that brady explained to me later was very interesting because he said i see each play within my limits at the time. I didn't really see the significance in that statement. But when you watch. Tom brady now aged forty three years old and the entire sporting world asking how. He's done it how he's been able to get another team to the super bowl. I looked back at that statement. And i found a lot of answers in it was brady frustrated with ballot check. Invalid check suggested as much. I wanna get deeper into. Brady's thought bubble there. I think he thought it was hilarious. He he saw it as a defensive coach who had no bearing on the reality of how difficulties throw that ball. He wasn't frustrated with ballot check. He was like a little amazed that bella check thought that that type of pass would be so easy i mean. That's that's a john elway throw. That's josh allen throw mahomes through. There's very few people who could ever even try that and here. Ballot check was talking about mark sanchez. Saying he's not going to get more open than that. Just throw the ball. As kind of an indictment on the quarterback where brady saw it as you know something that was hard to believe. Couldn't believe that that his coach thought that a throw like that with that easy. And when you look at tom brady look at the arc of his career. He's someone who's kind of always understood his limits and by understanding them so well he's found a way to transcend them so those limits that he has this keen understanding of and that being this superpower. It is something that we can. Plainly see in contrast to josh allen and john elway and patrick mahomes and lamar jackson. These absurd physical talents. And that's been clear set ever since we saw brady with shirt off to be honest at the combine in two thousand but because he is also the greatest of all time without real serious dispute at this point playing more super bowls than anyone ever by far at to ask if you fully buy his explanation that that superpower is in fact and understanding of his own limitations. At first i didn't. And i remember. I was once in his house in two thousand thirteen back when we thought he was getting old. 'cause he was going to be thirty seven when the season started. And you know he can't play forever and he said something really interesting. He said there's nothing that will be able to replace football. And hopefully it gets to appoint where there is when i retire in nine ten years and he said it so offhandedly and so smooth that it was it went right over my head. It was a shot across the bow. Here was a declaration to play until he was aged forty five and he someone who has made a mockery of conventional wisdom. And so i thought there is no way when he said that that he was someone who learned how to play football within the scope of his own limitations. But as you watch him play you actually see it on the field. And i think that it helps define him as a football player because he can't do what aaron rodgers does. He can't do it. Patrick mahomes does these sort of amazing acrobatic throws but what he can do and what he's always been able to do is pick apart a defense and bleed teams to death. And i think that that's what he was getting at when he talks about playing within his own limits because he's so deadly an accurate when he throws short.
Tom Brady Praises Bill Belichick: ‘Could Never Have Accomplished The Things In My Career Without His Support’
"Year. Another super bowl for tampa. Tom brady the tenth of his career. But of course it's the first as a buccaneer. The first without bill belichick brady talked about the impact that had on his career at media. Day yesterday and i certainly could never have accomplished things in my career without his support in his teachings and in critical coach and mentor for me. I mean i've always had a great relationship rebel by Ever since i got two bucks there just hasn't been any contact at all so there were those and then there's this former teammate. Danny danny amendola did not seeing the same praises about bill. That brady did quite the opposite. Here's what he said when you see patriot way in a in. The dictionary is going to have tom. Brady's name next to it. None of those coaches learning passes. They got guys in the right position because they watch a lot of film and they spend all their time. But tom brady. Is the patriot way. And that's and that's the reason. Why in the super bowl right now in the patriots aren't that is what he said. Jeff saturday what is your initial reaction to danny. Amendola dollas high. That's what my my reaction. I'll know what happened to them on the where he's living. I know what he's doing in this offseason but to away those championships and give them all to tom. Brady is a little bit silly. I'm not sure it was tom. Brady on the field of malcolm. Butler made the interception to. Oh sorry he wasn't there riley. Yeah it took an entire football team. Listen this is an and questioned. It was belichick and tom brady is the reason they were so successful. If you look at this entire organization he built it. Those defense has. I personally played when they held our office at three points. The greatest show on turf. They hold them down. I mean look at how many games they have won that you need a great quarterback absolutely you need a great staff all those hours. Amador's talking about being there. There is a reason that team won so many games and it wasn't because of one person. It was because of the couple the relationship of check and brady. That's why they were the gold standard for the nfl for all those years. Look there's been a lot of reaction to this marcus reasonably speaking. You could have a conversation about whether the coaching is more important or the players are more important. That could be in any circumstance. That's a reasonable discussion to have to use it to diminish what bellichik has accomplished. I think is what is created a lot of people's problems you want to say. The quarterback is more important. The coach fine. That seems like a reasonable opinion but to use it to try and take anything away. Marcus from what bill belichick has accomplished is what i think is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way.
Tom Brady Praises Bill Belichick: ‘Could Never Have Accomplished The Things In My Career Without His Support’
"Does brady's that. He made a super bowl this year in his first year. In a new system in tampa. Does this prove that. He was the main factor in the patriots dynasty. And i'm not saying. I didn't have a ton to do with. He's obviously a great coach. But if everybody debates between the two is say brady was more responsible but of the two of them than bella. Check this seal it or do you feel different. Did you read having dollas quote. Yeah we decided place at the patriots way is really tom. Brady's way i've in thirteen of course salads and and anyway don't pay. I think there's reason though for what amendola is kinda tongue-in-cheek but think about you know. He wasn't doing this until he got tom. Brady and i think. Tom brady learned a lot from bill belichick and he he did. He said that today he said today that i give so much credit to bella. Check for teaching me so many different things but the dry that tom brady has is implemented throughout the whole organization especially the players and the play on the field. And you didn't see that this year in the same token and i think that is a you know and i'm not gonna give you know Tom brady all the credit bill. Belichick does take some of that credit but players make the system. Come alive and when you have players like tom brady. Who's a generational type player. He does make a difference and he wants everything to be a certain way and he's gonna demand from his players to play a certain way to be a certain way in the locker room and on the field and it showed it show when he was with with new england and it showed this year being
Lake Erie's Revenge: The Cleveland Browns Date With AFC Destiny
"Thanks for joining me. Man going to be on with ov pablo jake. Trotter covers the cleveland browns for espn and before that you reported on the big twelve and followed baker mayfield's meteoric rise. So you live in cleveland. I live in cleveland. I live about five miles away from the browns training facility in berea. Ooh so listen you are right at the heart of everything you cover the browns. I want to understand what does winning this first. Playoff game. twenty six years doing it against is truly hated. Enemy in the pittsburgh steelers. What does it do for a city after two decades of being like generally humiliated. How would you describe the energy. Jake in cleveland right now. Yeah i would describe it as one of the greatest moments in the history of the city. And i'm not just talking about football. I'm talking about all moments. If you talk to people who grew up your they would say that sunday one of the happiest days of their lives sunday night after that win you could hear fireworks going off around cleveland. I don't know who has fireworks in the middle of january but people have them. Apparently people were driving up and down. Their streets warns it was a very exciting night. For cleveland and one that they've been waiting for for twenty six years and really forever considering how dominated they have been by the steelers over the years. Yes i'm looking at a list of things. Actually jake that happened in nineteen ninety four when the browns won their last playoff game. Turns out the number one on the billboard charts. Was the sign by ace of base. Is that all sound right to you. In terms of how did all of this has been feeling. Yeah i've been doing this all year checking what songs were number one at a time. The browns headache milestone. I know that when they were foreign one for the first time since nineteen ninety. Four when bill belichick was still the head coach. That boys to men actually had the number one song on the billboard. Hot one hundred. That kind of gives you a little context of how long it's been since the browns were at this point. I mean they're starting quarterback for example wasn't even alive to rewind to a little bit more recently the week leading up to this playoff win over the steelers it was. I don't even know how to explain it. Other than just like total chaos. Breaking news into i ate out of cleveland browns coach. Kevin stefanski has tested positive for covid. Nineteen according to our adam schefter to other coaches and players dealing with kobe related issues. They're closing their facilities fellas. They ultimately competed with kevin stefanski in his basement. Watching the game not on the sidelines. So what is this week been like as it relates to cove it. They had a practice on wednesday which was weird to see because they haven't had a practice or very many of them not even just last week for the last couple of weeks. I mean go back to the game in week. Sixteen when they traveled to play the jets. They had to delay their flight because they had a positive test from one of their players. Then they had to put their entire receiving core as high risk close contacts on the reserve covid nineteen list. They finally get to newark. They stay the night there. They were not able to do a walk through before leaving on saturday so they held a walk through on the fifth floor. The parking garage that morning adjacent to their hotel really from that moment until now it is been total. Chaos i mean they have had almost every single day since then. Something chaotic happen where they'd had to adjust. They went the entire week last week. Almost without a practice until getting one in friday they finally got kevin stefanski their head coach back in the building on thursday. It has been a bizarre couple of weeks. But to this team's credit into kevin's stefanski credit. They have never panicked. They have never felt sorry for themselves and they have been able to overcome it. Which is the most impressive thing. When this team given their lack of success in the past in the way as they've come together their ability to overcome different curve balls that have been thrown their way.
Patriots coach declines to accept Medal of Freedom from Trump
"Bell check declined President Donald Trump's desire to award the Patriots coach the presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. Belichick was to receive the medal Thursday at the White House, but said in a statement, one of the most rewarding things in his career took place in 2021 conversations within the team about social justice, equality and human rights, moved to the forefront and became actions. He's committed to continuing those efforts while remaining true to those people. The team in this country Adam

"Listen, it wasn't a good product you and I know that we know that they were in the middle class we talked about that since I don't know a week four or five that this team is it's not a bottom-feeder. It's not a contender. It's not a playoff team. It's somewhere in the middle and imagine if you didn't have Cam in his leadership. This thing could have looked even worse because off the field off the field aside from home. Let's check actually saying some things that made people angry off the field these players and how they handled their responsibilities. You could have asked more of them. So just imagine if Cam wasn't nice guy wasn't the leader and you had somebody else and it didn't work out and you finished three and thirteen and hey, who knows right? Who knows? What cam did the impact he had on the younger guys that looked at him and said, oh he's handling this the right way think about all the younger players on this roster and I know they've got plenty of veterans and they've got leaders in that locker room. So I don't want to make too much of being the guy and you know, the only voice and and the one that everybody follows but he's the quarterback in the quarterback as the face of the team. The quarterback is the guy that asks, you know, all the place is the most and he's the one that gets asked the most questions from the media and if you had somebody at top right underneath Belichick who has you said took everything personal was just angry at the situation wage. Angry at everything like that might have led to some of these guys checking out by week 13 or 14 and that's when you start to build a bad culture. That's when you start to build a theme that is full of dudes that you know, hey, if we're not 7 and 2 to start the season I might start questioning what the hell's going on here. So I do think there needs to be a lot said regarding what came off the field not to say that he played well on the field and at the end of the day it's about wins and losses..

I'm going to break it down in a way. I know how to do we're going to talk about college football. I still need to share some of my questions about Bill Belichick. What's going on with Bill month Bill Belichick. I I look over the Patriots of doing it I go. I have questions. I'll share my unfinished thoughts down the road. My name is Zach shomler. He basically wore the same thing that Russ wore it. Nobody gave him shit WHO's Russ Westbrook? His ripped shirt streetwear from that. Was Her. I know you remember. This isn't that though this wasn't like a designer four, Thousand Dollar Vinci ripped shirt that patriots hoodie. That looked like it was chewed on by a pack of raccoon or Ma maybe he forgot to put out the mothballs. That's I mean that is in all likelihood the case, and this is just like a ten year old fucking Hoodie. But. The guy look at the Google Bill Belichick right now, and it'll be nursing the pops up a he's always been known for his fashion or lack thereof but this is just such next level not giving a fuck the look to me. Embodies twenty twenty as a whole. He looks. In need of a home he kind of looks like a character from the last of us. Or somebody yeah he does of look like in need of a home he does because he's Kinda portly ensure too. Well he doesn't like he's just got the face of like scruffy. He's been through it. Also, his hair probably could have been a bit better in this circumstance in all circumstances. Comb over but then it started to fall apart. So bill not known for his fashion, his hair, his hygiene probably I'm still fucking lotion on his face in his life I'm still standing this the Hoodie I think it was. conned cognitive fashion decision and he's an icon for honestly quite frankly I look up to the man. So say Chris Hope you're doing well, man big ten big time fan of our VP here I wanted to start off by saying how great you've been on the podcast so far you bring so much energy and positively to the episode it's absolutely inspiring I was just listening to rb p three. Thirty two where you'll have the segment about national suicide prevention month while suicide prevention is such an amazing platform unfortunately, it tends to overshadow something that I connect with very personally this past February I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia and my life was flipped upside down I just gotten married only two months prior and was in the middle of my second year of law school. It hit me hard I went from perfectly healthy. twenty-three-year-old is somebody who is immuno compromised and battling cancer constantly couple that with the pandemic hitting only three weeks. Later in my life was completely halted. September is also national blood cancer awareness month I could i. would never have known this prior to this year. My diagnosis has completely shifted my outlook on the world and I want to do my part to help I was wondering if you all could do a short shout. At the beginning of the show or something like that, asking for people to donate to the leukemia and Lymphoma Society LS or just ask for some type of awareness. The only reason I found my diagnosis is because I had the flu in December and then went back in January for a checkup where they noticed my white blood cell count was outrageously high I'm not one that typically likes to go to the doctor. So I saw. Had I. Not come down with the flu. I likely would not have discovered my cancer until my condition was much worse. I guess my best advice to anyone would just be go in for regular checkups. You never know what's going on inside your body. Very cool of Seth to send us this message and bring. Our awareness of blood cancer. Awareness. month. To the forefront so that we could share with y'all. Calls. You had some more information here from from Seth Yeah absolutely just some simple stuff on the leukemia and Lymphoma Society it's a really wonderful foundation with a lot of different outreach and resources as well. So if you have the means to go donate to them if possible and if you don't at least read up on what to look for symptoms, conditions, anything like that anyway to make yourself healthier and you know be able to look out for people around you you go to the doctor once a year and go to the doctor. Absolutely you definitely want to check in on yourself got. Probably allows you at least one free doctor visit per year. It's terrifying the Frey, its terrifying thought you could be going through something as serious as leukemia and not even notice until you had some sort of test done. Yeah. It's a sneaky one man my my mom lost her ex boyfriend to. Wasn't. He's an ex because he passed lost her boyfriend to leukemia several years ago and it was It was quick to man is very quick hitting and it's very progressive. Absolutely. It works its way through your body very quickly but So blood CANCER AWARENESS MONTH LEUKEMIA LYMPHOMA Give to L. If you can ls. Dot Org. I'm actually ran marathons for team in training, which is the foundation to raise money for ls through running and Marathons Five K's ten k's half marathons like the the goal is you sign up and then by running day you have to have collected like x amount of donation money Oh nice and that goes towards I, think it has something to do with like if you hit a certain time, people can agree to donate more. You know what I mean like how people will do the Track fundraisers where it's like I'll pledge dollar for every lap. You run same kind of idea but she did that for years and years and years, and it was really really supportive community with a lot of really incredible people and got to meet a lot of survivors of leukemia and lymphoma Nice and I mean the the struggles that they've gone through I mean shots to use seth for for toughened through this shit man like we're here for you got your people in keep fighting the good fight. Indeed and thank you for reaching out. Thanks for senators the message. So we could do a little segment on blood cancer awareness month. Appreciate you again. And? Prayers up for you and your and your family as well. Next, segment. Now it's time for Hashtag Sports. So let's get a little sports, update some sports stories. The first is not a good one, but it is sort of funny in a horrible way. About the chargers team doctor tragedy from CBS Los Angeles. report, chargers, team doctor accidentally punctured Todd Taylor's lung with painkiller injection before game. So Yeah. The whole reason there was a quarterback change before the chargers game against the chiefs. This past Sunday turns out was a bit of a woopsie. According to Espn Adam Schefter, it seems the doctor administering the shot of a painkiller to tyrod. Taylor pre-game for him to be able to go out and play, which is the thing that we know many NFL players undergo painkillers before the game absolutely and punctured his lung. So that was the thing he couldn't go out and do the football because the doctor put the painkillers shot in his fucking lung literally in his lung. Is GonNa find just for the record? Yeah but but yeah. That's why Justin Herbert got the start against the Kansas City chiefs who were the defending Super Bowl champions and obviously a big game for the chargers and Herbert played well in the loss, which is kind of a long lasting implication there like Herbert goes on to continue playing well in tyrod is no longer needed as the starting quarterback and if tyrod starts to slip, they'll be quicker to look back to this guy now because they've seen a little bit of what he's got well they. Believe. They've announced that herber will be starting this weekend verse my Carolina Panthers Again. So I'm saying if he can if he does exponentially wet or very, very well and continues to play very well, La takes on his luscious lettuce as a look of the land and Becomes Justin Herbert stands twenty, four, seven as Tyrod, Taylor I'll be pissed I miss. Out Indefinitely tyrod yeah dude like I'd be soon the. Doctor, going to be honest you can't can't. Now. Now, why did you sign the fuck of that right away when you joined the team and when you have any doctor really yeah, it's really hard. so Dr Bro what really really hard. What do you think is worse? This is a scabies incident. escapees incident I don't think so no. Financial. Okay. -cations this is much worse that would agree with much much worse but I would say in the medical community this probably is the biggest disaster in medicine census Gaby's disaster. I don't I still think in terms of medical. I'd still my suffering was higher than tyrod will be emotional price paid financially for this mistake will be much higher than it was for mine, which was near zero dollars mine was an emotional tax. That I that I paid. But tyrod was just signed the contract to the chargers this off season. So I mean brings about a very interesting scenario. It's a two year fucking fired. Yeah. He's definitely fired. It's a two year eleven, million dollar contracts. So it's going to bring about some interesting talk on charters chargers quarterback if they both continue well, Herbert continues to play. Well, he looked impressive versa chiefs in other news bill Belichick is falling apart like everyone. Else in twenty twenty, you showed up for today's press conference looking like he was attacked by a pack of raccoons and I'll tell you exactly what happened..

That I know that has a wealth of experience that seeing it all with the weapons that they have on their team at their disposal to go out there and execute at our level. I take your take on ESPN news. I'm Jason Fitz. And let's get some straight talk brought to you by straight talk wireless we talk about COMBOS. We have to acknowledge that we're really looking at. Who can get the most out of the player or coach that there with in a way that they can win. We have no proof of concept for cinema. And that's something that as much as I agree with everybody. The bill belichick deserves benefit of the doubt for what he's been able to accomplish as a head coach when we are comparing simple knocked teams in the only conversation is a coach quarterback. It is incredibly disrespectful to what Tom Brady has accomplished in his career. To even say jared stems name in the same breath of that conversation. This is nothing against sitting. It's just what the last time we saw him. He wasn't quite getting it done at Auburn in a way that we thought that he could. If anybody had thought jared stood in the draft. Was the next Tom Brady. He would have made it past the first round. Halley wouldn't have made it past the first pick so some come in and suddenly act like jared stood. Him is the future. And that's okay and we can presume that it's all going to work out what we're allowing to happen there is. We're allowing the bias of seeing Belichick. Having done it in the past and we'd just presuming that he will do it. Get I understand the presumption I understand how easy it is to do that? But when you want to talk about specifically comparing two different teams to different COMBOS. When you're talking about a coach in a quarterback Combo comparison not taking any of the rest of teams capable of to say that Bruce Arians and Tom Brady wouldn't get more benefit of the doubt umbrella. Check and Jarret. Stidham is over inflating. What Bill Belichick deserves for benefit of the doubt it's over inflating would jarret stood stidham deserves for any benefit of the doubt in the League. And it's frankly insulting to what Bruce Arians and Tom Brady had both already accomplished. Its I take your take on. Espn news that some straight talk wireless no contract no compromise. And the Steve Kerr punching incident the the gambling incident interesting because I mean the bottom line. Is there some stuff here? If Michael Jordan goes out and talks about gambling he's GonNa go out and talk about beating guys gambling. The problem talking about gambling. Is You gamble with somebody else. So if you If if if I didn't want to talk about My my let's say I got into a bunch of fights as a broadcaster and there was coward gets into a lot of fights. And then you asked me about the fights and that was a big tough guy. If I told you I fought it. Basically be telling you yea knocked all these guys out so I would be making them look like schmucks for a second time to talk about Jeff. Gordon talk about gambling. He's gotTa talk about who he gambled with. And is it possible? Michael's like I don't really. I don't WanNa get into my golf games in my late night. Poker Games and how much. I wonder how much I lost. I don't know maybe I'm I'm apologizing for Michael Jordan. There are things in my life. I don't want to talk about because I have to talk about them and mentioned other people and I don't WanNa drag other people into them like Steve Kerr. I talk about that. It's public. We fought he can defend himself. I always say to my when I used to take calls. I used to say don't rip another broadcaster. Who's not here to defend himself? That's not fair right. So Jerry Krause I you know. I was critical when he was living. I mean I I. He was a bad. Gm to me I don't know that makes sense. Joy Maybe if. Mj was scaled back a little on the gambling because he was gambling with people all the time. Yeah I mean there's no way to tell a story without telling somebody else's business right but I also maybe it will develop into it but I don't really feel like this is an MJ story. It's to me. This is a story about that bulls team. I mean. We're learning about each of the individual characters in that story in that Saga and MJ's obviously Michael Jordan. So it feels like an. Mj documentary is why we care so much but so far it Halley. Feel like it's all about knowing it's interesting. It's like if you're doing an activity that's illegal gambling right. Why would you WanNa talk about it? Let's say there were days that you did cocaine and could you talk about it? Well no because I did it with these teammates and this woman and I don't WanNa talk about it like if you're doing something that's illegal and people ask you about it part of the reason you don't want to discuss it is other people were involved in my really illegal habit. That part I could see Jordan. Just say I gambled whatever you find you can use. But I'm not gonNA comment on it. Yeah Not GonNa add. I'm not going to add to it which I totally get by the way. I don't know why I don't think the Patriots are tanking. I think the media's ee struggling with this. I think they're rebooting. You ever had your computer at home. And you got to reboot young plug it for like three minutes. Then you plug your computer. Do this with my phone. Probably once every other day I just turn it off. Something's not working and then I turn it back on an iphone works again. The audio works or something Jeff. How of the athletic on the Patriots potentially tanking? He's a writer. He says the idea the Patriots would take for Trevor. Lawrence doesn't hold any water now. Here is two reasons. I it's not. How CHECK WIRED. I disagree Bella. Check always does what we don't expect. He's covert secretive manipulative. Smart always has a plan and shocks us all the time. Wouldn't it shock you if he tanked? That's exactly how he's wired. He didn't draft a quarterback this draft. He didn't draft a skill. Person is draft. Didn't that surprise you. This is how he's wired doing things we don't expect. He's not predictable we. He changes his game plan every week. This is exactly I would tell Jeff. This is exactly how he's wired. He's wired by the way he's also showed over time. He is about the big picture. He's willing to experiment in September joy. What's his worst month regular season set? September willing to have short term risk and failure for long-term winning his worst month is September. That's Bella checks worst month so he is wired this way. I'm GONNA experiment do things for the greater good of the season. I mean he he took Malcolm Butler out of a super bowl. Do you think he was wired that way. If he's all about winning the second thing. Jeff how says a second in this? Traditional transitional phase ballot check with risks. Losing the locker room. You know th the great way to alienate the veterans who have trusted him over the years. Oh you mean the guys. He's gotten rid of. They're all golfing. Brady Gone Stephen. Got cousy gone. Harmon gun eight Abner Gone James Devlin. Gone Kyle Van Noy Gone Jimmy Collins Gone Ted Karras Gone Ben Watson Gone Danny Shelton God Rob Gronkowski gone. He doesn't have tailgate veterans. He's gotten rid of all of them. Outside of Stefan Gilmore who is in his prime and he loves corners and they hightower so I disagree with the premise by jeff how this is exactly how. Bella check is wired. Secretive always a plan always ahead of the league big picture over this Sunday. Big Picture season over September Sunday. Secondly there aren't veterans last year's draft in this year's draft heavy defense heavy kids. He's gotten rid of the veterans. There is no pushback. Gilmore's not pushing back. Because they pay him. He's the one Patriot they pay. And they don't pay anybody so Gilmore's and Bella Checks Cam. He's Abella Check Guy. Does Dante hightower. Who could be a coach after he quits? Playing Bella check loves it. Those are Bella Chat Guy. He doesn't care about adamant he didn't pay anything so I again. He's not a tanking. It is like Golden State. This year came into the season knowing. Claes hurt. And Katie's gone. The minute STEPH GETS HURT. They shut him down and play the young guys. They tanking whether or not trying to lose. But they're gonNA play young guys. Nobody's saying Bella checks trying to lose but he is letting go of really good veteran players and not replacing them knowing next year to a plus quarterback prospects. He just needs one summer suggesting. There's a third or fourth prospect on the horizon. We'll learn more about the next college football season but two plus his right now. So Bella checks like old inexpensive. Let's get rid of all of them. Except Gilmore who's in his prime and he's the best person in the league at his position outside of that. We're pretty much moving off everybody. One hundred million cap space next year most in the league ten picks minimum so far. I don't think it's called rebooting. It's what you do to your computer. You just unplug it. But it's I don't buy the premise. That he's wired this way. September it's been an experimental month is entire career. I'll take a loss. I'll take a gamble to be better in Christmas. That's that's how he's wired. He's a big picture. Guys always been a big picture guy and he always does what we don't expect. I don't think you can call it tanking I think. It's rebooting accumulating picks getting cap space starting over getting cheap getting younger. And that's what he's doing he just. He wants cap space draft picks and he knows that Emmy smart he knows the divisions getting better. He's not stupid he's he looks at Adam Gates and Donald now going to year to and their draft. They have a real GM now he looks at Miami. How well they played last year. How Buffalo made the playoffs. They now have stiffened digs. I mean bell checks not stupid. They're not going six and on this division they go to and four. I don't know if they match up with buffalo anymore. I really don't without Brady. I really don't so it's just the the words here tanking. It's not tanking. I don't see it is tanking. It's rebooting you know Bill Belichick. This morning knows. This is not a super bowl roster. He knows that he's he's not a dumb guy. He knows that I mean. Ask yourself this. Do they have one dynamic offensive player? I mean Julian Edelman Slot Guy that they they they they don't they don't have one dynamic offensive player. He didn't address that he built a defense defense. Really really good. He's going to build the offensive line back up so when he gets the Star quarterback and maybe it's Jarret Stidham. I don't think it is but if it is then he gets the quarterback and get the weapons in here. We go you. Everybody's caught up in tanking. This is not the Philadelphia. Seventy sixers with Sam Hanky. That's not what's going on it just unplugging the computer wait a few minutes plug it back in. Get your juice back Ben. Watson's coming up be sure to catch live editions of the heard. Weekdays at noon eastern nine. Am Pacific so next year the Patriots will have one hundred million dollars of cap space so and Bella Check has struggled drafting offensive players. They don't have an offensive pro bowler drafted since so. The last two drafts. New England has spent a lot of their draft capital on defensive players where bill is had a much higher hit rate as a personnel guy. So I look at ballot check. They're going to have a one hundred million dollars to spend. The last two drafts. Have been heavily. Reliant on defensive players plus Dante hightower and Stefan Gilmore. Are the two older players that are expensive? That he's keeping what is it telling me that New England next year is going to spend that money on offense because ballot check has struggled to draft wide receivers. He struggled with it and that built. Maybe bill saying listen. I'M GONNA have one hundred million dollars next year. I'm not great at at drafting wide receivers. It's not what I'm good at and Dante Scar. Nekia for the record could retire soon so if I had a guest this morning I'd say bill's GonNa spend money offensively next year and he'll continue drafting defensive players because it's hit rate on linebacker safeties corners and defensive linemen and edge rushers. It's pretty darn good. It's pretty darn good receivers. It's not you can't debated. I got thirty-five. He's got a bunch them in front of me. He's drafted not a lot of hits and that's with Brady. Ben Watson Played Sixteen. Nfl season seven of the sixteen with Tom. Brady and Brady. Reference Ben Watson more than once when he when he left New England about their relationship. And we welcome Ben. Who by the way forty eight? No Wunderlich test I have. I have a here. Third Highest in league history is the author of two books. Maybe that's why Brady got along intellectual physical thing. How close we're been. How close we're Tom and you. I mean he's referenced you Multiple Times. How close are you? Are You doing man? Perhaps.

"What is Belichick doing his draft we don't have a second round pick you know so that really limits to be said there were twenty three isn't that dark zone right where no matter what he does you know it's probably going to take a guy for next year's team I mean that's really the reality knows nobody wants to talk about it but most of the players but what you get outside at eight or nine guys they're typically for next year's team your draft and hoping you'll get something out of them but the real value comes next I think I'll take a guy with a great shot upside to at any position I got it he feels like has tremendous upside that they could bring into their system can really grow to be a size speed player at a position that they feel they need to fix on the football team but looking at the twenty twenty one to more than anything I don't see him traded up for quarterback let's see Justin Herbert's were to slip to ten or eleven they don't they have to give up next year's one to do it I don't think he's inclined to do that he after we get past because obviously boroughs going number one we think Herberton tool going somewhere in the first round and you mention Jordan loves a guy Miami likes they've got the extra first round picks of the next tier of guys Jacob Beeson big guys got the big arm from Jaylin hertz who was very impressive as far as wins and losses are concerning college what do you what's your what are your thoughts on kind of that second level of quarterback and where they go and how good some of those guys can be yeah that's a hard one you know like I'm not look I like to work you know I took a lot of heat from you know obviously boomers and his simple laws are worried about sure but I I'm I'm worried about you know pocket passer six feet tall you know Kenny do all the things that you got to do it in its own stay healthy I think that's a concern I think when you look at Jacob Beeson I think he's got potential to start to finish is you've got to correct in terms of his work habits and what he can do you know if the quarterback has to be able to do the things he needs to do off the field and on the field recent I don't know there's a kid named Jake Whitman from Oregon state and why I think is a really good got a chance to be a a circum what I call a circumstantial starter got it to come in and play but once I get past their other than toward love and hope I think you look at guys better down the line I'm not sold it hurts can play cornerback here's why one Alabama how to throw the football the denture that bothers me that bothers me a lot now and you could say well he went to Oklahoma if people study Oklahoma football team and study what they're doing offensively and how they run their offense it's highly run it's a lot of one on one chance options a lot of these heroes those throws don't come with you to the NFL I think it's going to be hard for him to control the football and make a living playing quarterback somebody's going to take him in the second round and it wouldn't be me we'll see how it works out to a Michael body of course the address tonight eight o'clock the first round the Indian SLR if this thing happens with the dolphins and they move up they make this deal with the choice to get the three how far down the line this corner drop where does he want out yeah that's a great question right so you got to think that you know I think you could go to the Carolinas Maureen on CJ Henderson they are anybody that Caroline has been in office right and Derek brown if you made it to them and whether he does or not you know it could go to Arizona I mean I was only due to court look Arizona is in the bottom twenty and twenty defensive categories Arizona ranks thirty or less there are bad on every single level of the defense now what they've done this offseason is they don't want to try to prepare themselves they signed some guys to try to help their defense but they they need another corner even though they drafted Byron Murphy there last year Patrick Peterson is a good player I think you could go there I mean if Jacksonville doesn't take the quarterback they're going to take a corner you go there as well miss you by Jacksonville because Gardner Minshew had you know a pretty good year last year and it feels like you've Gardner Minshew was a first or second round pick considering you only won six games he put up pretty good numbers especially when you compare to other rookie quarterbacks that the quarterback situation would be viewed differently but because he was a sixth round pick it's like yeah is he that good Jacksonville should go get a quarterback what am I missing on Gardner Minshew are they not as in love with him do they think last year was a fluke what what do you make of that with Minshew in Jacksonville I'm a little bit ranked twentieth overall in offense last year you know why on third down there were twenty six in the red zone they were thirty first couldn't put the ball in the red zone could put the ball in the red zone in the end zone and couldn't convert third downs I think you know certainly he somebody that you have to live and he's got a lot of moxie to a lot of talent in terms of what he was able to do but I think you've got to compare him is he better than to us is he better than her but that's the question you have to ask if even if you think he's equal to or similar to that you can't take those two guys right and I'm not sure I know the answer that I would guess the answer would be I like I think hope is better than Tyrod Taylor remember Tyrod Taylor was the guy the bills had on their team when they traded their first round pick to Kansas city because they had Tyrod Taylor intensity pick Patrick Mahomes look all of this all of this comes down to how do you evaluate your own teeth and how do you evaluate your player compared to the players in the draft so the beat that all right with that see see here's I'm curious about now I'm not suggesting anything crazy is going to happen with the giants but the giants loved Justin Herbert last year that's what we had heard it obviously didn't come out so there was no chance to draft in the draft Daniel Jones what a pretty good rookie year if they love Justin Herbert that much and they still do what are you doing if you're in that room in your Dave Gettleman you're you're not pulling the plug on Daniel Jones but if you love the Herbert that much what do you do on a night like tonight I mean I think you know look at the John Merrick made a decision last year with Dave Gettleman they went for the quarterback I think you've got to go I mean that's the problem I mean that's the problem you've got to be able to sit there and say if we turn this card and is this guy going to be good enough for us for the next eight years and and that's an issue and you got to know who the players are your I mean you turn the car if you're Jacksonville so you could to a but let's just say you pick two up until it comes in and he's got a red shirt is he better than Trevor Lawrence next year when you have the first pick in the draft are you going to trade away are you going to trade away from Travelodge because you have to think about that now you gotta ask yourself this question right right you gotta you gotta send it look we could draft two in Jacksonville this year right but he's got a red shirt he's he's gonna have to get himself healthy even if he plays Peyton manning played all you're gonna want to do right place round the first pick in the draft next year are we not gonna pick Trevor Lawrence why did it it's almost like you're making that commitment ahead of time to give your Jacksonville you take to a you're limiting yourself from Trevor Lawrence even if you're picking number one because why would you use a first round pick to take a quarterback who's not even get a plate then the following year could take another quarterback that's my point so you gotta ask yourself that question that's what I've heard all along that that Jackson was a defensive corner now lately there's been people saying they're more inclined to talk about the quarterback but you gotta make damn sure that the quarterback you take your team is not very good I mean your team was twenty fourth on defense last year couldn't stop the one you've lost a host of players off that team right and you signed Joe Schubert okay you side you know Rodney Gardner you side Tyler after you sign some players but you're not gonna get any better than that you're playing in a conference that's got the colts are pretty good whatever people think of bill o'brien he's only won the division five dollars six years right so he got the shot watching your pretty good football team and the Tennessee one playoff twenty playoff games so like are you really going to win the are you gonna win the south he was six and ten last year can you come back I think that's the fundamental question I don't know if Tony Kahn's asking a question he's completely fights on Twitter with the with and big white the reality of it is is that's what general managers have to do the future of the franchise if you don't ask yourself that question how do you really know what you're doing you're managing on a line item basis and anybody that manages on a line on a basis never can see the future you know you mention in the inequity and also Trent Williams and it suited these guys get traded tonight you know here's the problem a trend here here's the deal he's a really good football player and he still he could come in and give you three four five years a left tackle right it is probably better than all these tackles in the draft but they're all cheaper than him they're all younger than him so now the Redskins won a first round pick I gotta give you my one and then treat Williams wants another he wants to he wants another taste he wants a bigger contract so I'm double dipping like and what would you say that no I I can't I'm not doing that if the value comes down from the Redskins maybe I'll consider it but why would I do that why am I going to give you a huge asset and then reward the player this is one of the stranger so damn hard all right the two injury stuff I know that's what because you know boomer to yell at you and you defend yourself here's the bottom line if a guy is injured or there are injury histories and it's related to the draft we all want to know I want to know Joe wants to know every GM wants to know so how scared or nervous should teams be about the health of two well I think that look here's the reality and if you believe this and you know I do I believe past performance predicts future cheap that that's a model that I've always believed in the draft past performance to predict future achievements and if a guy has been hurt playing in thirty two games and a guy six feet tall he's not one of forty yet you know he's not run the.

"The brilliance of the quarterback. And I will say this the other thing Max that I think fellowship got wrong is if we are to believe everything that we have been told that has been reported it is a Belgian was ready to move on from Brady several years ago and hand the reins Jimmy Garoppolo and all Brady did since then was take the team to three super bowls win two of them and be the MVP the League at the age of forty. So I do not believe that building will check. The general manager has done extremely well by the greatest coach of all time. Who happens to be the same person Greenie? We can't I can't prove a counterfactual I can say that if you look at Garoppolos win loss record especially when you look at the niners. Who couldn't win he shows up. They can't lose he gets hurt. They can't win. He comes back. They can't lose. They wind up in the Super Bowl up ten points in the fourth quarter. I kept PROVEA. Counterfactual that Garoppolo stays in place. They have less success or more success. I suspect maybe a little less success. But now there's set up better going forward in terms of BELIC THE GM. You're right about his draft. He's not perfect especially on offense in the last few draft. But how can you really say behind the brilliance of the quarterback? Two years running. They were a dominant team mainly because of the defense. That's mainly what did it. And that's Bella redirecting resources to the defense well first of all they warranted defense was dominant in the AFC championship. Game that you you continuously repeatedly remind us that. Patrick Mahomes didn't get the ball last. And and that's what saved the day along with offside penalty with default. And what have you? You repeatedly reminds us of that where it was the defense then. Where was the deepest when Tom Brady threw for five hundred yards but they gave up forty in the super bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles? That's two that's why did it because this is excuse me we heard you zip it. We Are you. This is number three number three and more importantly the business inside if I correctly last week reported that Tom Brady gave up in excess of sixty million dollars over the course of his career to facilitate bill belichick make most. How do we know again? This is a counterfactual to use your word. But how do we know Max? Kellerman de Bill Belichick. The Great Bill Belichick during all those times because there was a multitude of talks he went to Tom Brady and asked him to make those Dacca fights that he didn't make promises on the back and that he ultimately didn't keep which is a problem that Tom Brady had with him in the end. How do we know that we? I don't know that we'll have much more on this and the second hour and Greenie you'll appreciate this. Because I know you cover the Bulls back in the day. Obviously they're undoubtedly one of the best tandems but let's not forget Phil Jackson. Mj One more playoff series. More playoff games in a much shorter tenure Greenie. We'll have his back covered eight. Am Tomorrow on get up. It was a wild week. Free Agency and player movement several household names such as Andre Hopkins Stephan Digs and Byron. Jones will be wearing new uniforms which rosters improved the most bleacher report listed these six squads that could be on the rise after dominating in the first week of the new league year. The Miami Dolphins Cleveland Browns. Las Vegas Raiders Buffalo Bills Arizona Cardinals in Philadelphia Eagles on that note. We bring in our guy. Marcus Spears how we doing. Marcus was family all live all good all we look. Look Look Look Barry White USA. I know you've got the brick background awed and everything like that. What's going on man? Get a small and you're trying to be intimidated. They scan anybody or anything. Like what a small saying. What were you intimidated by the last conversation? Max Max. I was listening to the last conversation. I don't know who Steve is man like this. This soft cuddly. I WANNA stand on. He'll for Tom. Brady's Guy I don't know who that guy is man. I just don't respect. You need to show respect. I'm the only one from this. Show giving him the respect that he deserves. Molly betrayed them years ago with the nickname G. She's the one that started the whole. Jimmy Max is just Max. Kellerman started on July twenty fifth. This is three and a half years ago. The twenty fifth he started and at that show. He Tom Brady's over the hill. Tom Brady and the clip that he would. Because y'all been disrespectful to Tom. Brady all use only one. That's showing him some respect. Can let's be clear about that. Yeah who do you call that Batman? Let's get it Max. I'm coming here because you are the expert on all things Tom Brady including cliffs. Who's the most improved team after free agency? How this is going to sound like homer ISM and it is but I think a good case can be made so. I'm going to make it because I can't take any more four. Five win seasons mildly. I think our New York football giants first of all As like WHO's most improved are you? Where are you improving from like a team? That wins Games. Improvement of a game or two is a lot. It's hard to improve a lot when you're a bottom feeder. It's much easier to get much better. You can win three four more games and still not be a double digit win team. I think it's the giants when you look at what they did it. At at CORNERBACK RIGHT FROM FROM CAROLINA. They went out and got a real guy and Bradbury of corner. You maybe not shutdown corner but a very good player. In the secondary De'andre Baker last year was coming along in terms of his trajectory. As a player they signed linebackers overpaid for one or two but okay. I'm not saying gentleman's a great gm but he does recognize it. Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley. He has a franchise quarterback potentially all world running back on their rookie deals. So if you're going to overpay later on it's going to look bad but you have the rookie deals going now pay now. They added an offensive lineman. The added. Goodbye wave running cope. Mcquaid backup quarterback for for Daniel Joke. They spent money while these guys are on the rookie. Rookie deals not big SPLASHY. Flashy free agent signings putting good football signings that I think make the giants. Potentially maybe three games better than they were last year. I disagree I'm GonNa go to route on the Tampa Bay buccaneers because they got Tom Brady. Yes I said. Oh by the way Swaggie I just wanted to let you know when you depending on where you to head with that background you actually look like you gotta Afro From Town to Top. Just what to throw that out there that you? You might like to look anyway back to Tom. Brady I think that when you look at Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay buccaneers and the fact that this do is replacing Jameis Winston who not only to thirty interceptions last year. All fifty one hundred yards and thirty three touchdowns but he not only through thirty interceptions last year as Dominic Foxworth pointed out earlier would get up. There were nine interceptions. That should have been catch. But obviously defenders drop the May could ended up throwing nearly forty interceptions. Now you juxtaposed. Somebody like Tom Brady. Who hasn't throwing more to fourteen interceptions in a season in years. And so the fact that you're diminishing that amount of turnovers do projecting that that's going to be the case. That's a huge huge deal. Particularly when you consider the fact that their defense eight efficiency rating so you take all of that in consideration with the Mike Evans. The Guy was OJ. The bottom line is I expect a significant upgrade from the Tampa Bay buccaneers. I expect them to go and leads from seven to ten with possibly eleven twelve. Now that's one team the other team. I gotTa give some love to at least in the off season and they tend to accumulate an off season as opposed to during the season is the Cleveland browns. If you're breaking Mayfield. What are you got you gotTa tied in? You got who you gotta right tackle. You got a full back in. Play clearly with the fancy. Is the new coach coming over from Minnesota? He likes multiple tight end sets. He wants to sit up there and do all of that. Plus having you know a slew of running back to lean on as well I think those kinds of situations considering that you still kept Orlando Beckham junior until I look at it from the standpoint that Cleveland had a pretty good off. Season.

"The move another example bill belichick again. He's just at a different level. He sat and coach while giving his players. First Class airline tickets. Earning the respect of the Veterans Teran's chosen sixteen support coming back from a win and they were flying on the plane and the coaches are normally first class players and coach so he went back and sat in the back. The players sit in first class as way to earn their respect. I mean he's just a different level right in every way he's outsmarts the entire. NFL now. Bill Belichick Fun factoid. Number one to the final one by the way he's been coaching since nineteen seventy five forty four years years. He doesn't go to anything until he does. "I mean, the average thirty five and a half is not like all of a sudden the average twenty and then when they play the patriots. They get forty. No, no, they got fifty one against the Rams. They got forty just the Steelers they got forty five against the Bengals they get for their a lot of people. We're not just talking about twenty eighteen though, we're going back to twenty fourteen. Okay. That Monday night massacre. So the hall of Famer, Shannon Sharpe. Just beautifully broke down to you. Exactly. Why? Andy Reid owns Bill Belichick why he has Bill Belichick number and that number is forty way to go. Because what we just saw all. The numbers you just displayed. They all scream that. In the end Bill. Check has lost his fastball on defense. I don't know. Why people can't see this because it has routinely happened most much of it because of Andy Reid, but I can go into several other games in which he is clearly just lost his fastball. These numbers scream that Bill Belichick should thank his lucky stars for the quarterback at age forty one who continues to save his legacy and let him off the hook for these collapses that routinely have happened, especially at the hands of one Andy Reid. So we're just we're not going back to the Super Bowl the long ago after the two thousand four season Super Bowl ancient history and Bill of check had his fastball in defense in those days. But lately since Andy Reid has been in Kansas City. We have seen again on just want to drive these numbers home, forty one points, forty two points, forty points. And in those games and by the white. There was a playoff game. Stuck in the middle of them after the twenty fifteen season. It was an early twenty sixteen a division Plath game. In Foxboro that went down to an onside kick just for the record. And I'm gonna I'm about to break that game down just a second. But in the four games Andy Reid is coached against bell checks defense while he's been in Kansas City, the chiefs of gone twenty seven of fifty three on third down. That's fifty one percent..

"I was surprised. He didn't take the cult's job because you go to your own place. You make your own way and you don't have the Belgian thing hangover you. Here's where I would make the case for that because I think and you've seen this with the patriots. You see it in pro sports and I see it in the NBA where to more closely tuned. Ownership means so much, and there are so many bad owners and there are places you can go. I don't care how good you are. You will not win. You might have a good season, but you can't sustain success with owner who's either not committed or it's dysfunctional or doesn't know what he's doing is trying to meddle or undo decisions. You make no matter how good you are. It's really hard to win in that situation. So yes, replacing Bill Belichick or let's say, replacing, you know, even with the Lakers replacing a Pat Riley or or one of the great coaches, there's something still to be said for boy, I believe in this ownership and while it creates other the shadow and all those things, I'd still rather roll the dice at a place where they know me. They're invested in me, you know, if I go six and ten, they know I know what I'm doing. The players believe in me versus, you know what? Matt Patricia goes through in his first week. We're now everyone's looking at them going like, okay, like, you know what you're doing. Like every young coach faces that that would be the counter to that is, hey, I believe in this owner and I'd rather roll my dice here than some organization. I don't know very well, and you'd better believe Robert Kraft is going to be very committed to trying to win after Bill retires as head coach, right? He's going to feel like I need to show something here to that. I can win without this guy as well. So I, I think that's a great point. And. And craft, I think is the best owner in the NFL. I think he should be in the hall of fame. I, I'm still not quite sure how Jerry Jones beat him to the punch on that. But yeah, craft is is really good. He'd be guide wanna work for and I guess that's what mcdaniels saw now, do I know for sure that they told him you're going to be the successor? No, I don't have somebody directly in the book saying that, but I think it's pretty obvious that that's what's going to happen.
