A Complete List of Trump’s Pardons and Commutations

"Today. Donald Trump continued his full on assault. On the rule of law pardoning and commuting the sentences of several high profile criminals he notably included former Illinois governor. Rod Blagojevich was convicted of trying to sell Barack Obama's Senate seat vacated because he was elected president in exchange for campaign contributions. Begovic had served eight years of a fourteen year prison sentence. You may also remember the governor from the apprentice where he messed up the Harry Potter Challenge and got fired Donald Trump. We'll technically by the apprentice producers today the President Communities Sentence Response Members of the Illinois House Republican delegation released a saying quote. We're disappointed by the president's commutation of Robert Mugabe of federal sentence. Begovic is the face of public corruption in Illinois. And not once has he shown any remorse for his clear undocumented. Record of egregious crimes that undermined the trust placed in him by the voters. Nbc News Correspondent. Tom Winter reminds us are eating. A jury found him guilty of trying to extort the CEO of Children's Memorial Hospital for a donation in exchange for increasing the payments to doctors. Who took care of Specialty Care Kids? Oh but Donald Trump was not done there he also pardoned former New York police department. Commissioner Bernard Kerik pleaded guilty to eight felony charges including tax fraud and lying to White House officials. Carrick was nominated by George W Bush to be the Secretary of Homeland Security before withdrawing that nomination just a week later. The judge gave a longer sentence than agreed to the plea deal saying quote. I think the damage caused by Mr Carrick is in some ways. Immeasurable trump also pardoned bond. Trader Michael Milkin. So guy considered to be the face of insider trading in the nineteen eighty S. Milton was originally charged with ninety eight. Federal counts including racketeering. He pleaded guilty to six felony charges of securities fraud conspiracy. He was sentenced to ten years in prison. He also paid six hundred million dollars in fines and restitution at sentencing. The judge said quote when a man of your power in the financial world repeatedly conspires to violate and violate securities and tax laws in order to achieve more power and wealth for himself and his wealthy clients. A significant president prison term is required in order to deter others others receive clemency from trump today glued former San Francisco Forty niners owner Edward debartolo junior. Who pleaded guilty in one thousand nine hundred eighty eight two concealing an extortion attempt involving the governor of Louisiana David Savvy and the former Bush administration official who was sentenced to a year in prison for lying about his association with Jack? Abramov June grown the owner of a Mental Health Care Company. Who was serving a thirty five year prison sentence for running? A two hundred. Five million dollar Medicare fraud scheme to be clear. This is the president who spent the last six months arguing. He so pose corruption. He had to make sure. Ukrainian president was to by withholding credit grudgingly approved military aid unless you launch fake investigation into the Biden's and route around Kremlin source conspiracy theory tourist findings but somehow this group of liars an extortionist and swindlers is the group of people. Trump felt deserve clemency. Maybe it's just a coincidence. That trump is pardoning these felons as the sentencing yet. Another one of his criminal pals looms earlier today. Trump tweeted about the judge in the trial of his longtime friend and advisor. Roger Stone suggesting stone deserved a new trial. Not long after the judge ruled stone. Sentencing hearing we'll go on that's planned on Thursday. Although she did say Roger. Stone's sentence will not begin until after she rules on his request for a new trial. Trump's interference with the stone cases. Troubled the Federal Judges Association so much that they called an emergency meeting tomorrow to address it and joining me now. For more on the president's pardoning spree. Today's Walter Dellinger. He was formerly formerly the acting. Solicitor General and also the head of the office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice under president. Bill Clinton Mr Dellinger. What do these pardons say to you as somebody who worked in in at high levels in justice in the United States? Well I think the show that we're really at the at the end of being a country that believes in equal justice under law there was no process to see how these crimes and these sentences compared with others who remain in prison. It's the president's own whim when a president acts by Wim and says he did of the Goya Vich. I wanted wife on television that that is an assault on the rule of law. But it goes much deeper than that. This is part of a three pronged assault on low as we know it. It involves threats of criminal prosecution of political opponents. Those investigate you. It involves promises that the president will intervene on behalf of those who commit crimes on his behalf and it. The third leg of this assault is his attack on judges and jurors in cases in which he's involved there is there's a banana republic aspect to it as you said that if you're friends with the president or on his TV show you get a pardon no matter what you've done and if you cross him in any way you might end up being prosecuted and we know that William Bar doesn't seem to be opposed to doing that but they're also does seem to be kind of a sort of Ross statement of power that Donald Trump is saying that if you commit these particular kinds of crimes that are against the Public. Trust that our financial in nature that are about corruption when he himself was impeached for corruption. It almost as sort of I don't know it almost feels like a message about that too about the fact that he's saying no no. I'm going to use of dive into corruption and revel in it. That's a good point Jordan. He treats he treats very high status people as if they're high status is a mitigation of their crops. When in fact it is an exacerbation that makes him so much worse. When you're a privileged person take for example. The fact that he has intervened on behalf of someone who was this got to be the national security adviser and lied about an investigation not just any investigation an investigation into a foreign military powers intervention. Our election. He intervened on behalf of someone who has been a prominent associated with President. Said is Roger Stone Who who committed five categories of lies and engaged in what the first department memo said was a relentless multi year attempt to again and obstruct justice in terms of an investigation into the corruption and the election and then finally the sympathy for someone. Who had the Honora being governor of one of our largest states? And who is thoroughly corrupt? And who sold a position in the United States Senate? Now that's he treats those because high status people as mitigation of their crops. And would it surprise you if the after to the things that Donald Trump does as well when it surprised if he's setting up there's been a lot of questions about whether he might try to part himself like if he's ever found to have committed some crime and that would certainly make himself the biggest part of the mall. I think he would undoubtedly attempt to pardon himself and everyone around him. He certainly let it be known that if a if he's re-elected or or even in the period after he was defeated he is GonNa take care of Of of everyone he knows including himself. I think the courts would reject hisself pardon but you know no presents ever tried that before so we can't be sure and the way in which he he seems to revel in the fact that he could take someone like sheriff. Joe Arpaio a law enforcement officer who is targeting Latinos for harassment and using the power of the police deliberately against a minority group and he pardoned him of criminal contempt of court that the way in which he plays with this. I think Dolly Elliptic who some times on this show referred to the `constitutionalisation of narcissism is what we face in this country. Yeah IT DONALD. Trump wants credit of also doing first step back kinds of criminal justice reform. He wants credit for that. But but do you sense in the pardons that he's doing especially today that the real message here is his own power right that he's essentially saying if you're powerful and you're my friend that is actually how you get a justice not by being somebody who was falsely accused of a crime or got too long of a sentence for having marijuana or something like that. That's why there's absolutely the absolute absence of any sense that the people pardoned held they compared with the culpability and the sentences of the tens and tens of thousands who remain in federal prison. The idea that he can act on on Mir welcome. I think something we've never seen the president before you know. Some people are going to raise the a Bill Clinton's pardon of financier and fugitive Bark Rich. And that was the worst thing. Bill Clinton did in eight years and an office is unjustified pardon but Donald Trump is taking it to a very different level where he's using the levers of the of the power of his office in order to corrupt law threatening opponents rewarding those who would commit crimes on his behalf going after judges and jurors in. I don't know where we go from here. I think we two thousand former prosecutors not just signed a letter but perhaps to think about blocking the willing to be arrested blocking the entrance of the Justice Department out. You have to use your imagination where we go from here Walter Dellinger. Thank you very much really appreciate your time and joining me now. For more. On the president's pardoning Spree Matthew Miller former chief spokesperson for the Department of Justice who's down MSNBC Justice analyst and Betsy Woodruff Swan Politics reporter at the daily beast and she's also an MSNBC contributor. So let's talk about sort of where where he could go from here and where and what it means and I'll start with where he could go from here. Betsy because is there any reporting on how much more of this because it does appear that there is a pattern? Somebody is either you know his friend or was on the apprentice goes on Fox News and pleads for his help he immediately responds to his friends and gives them a pardon. Who's who might be next on the list. I spent the afternoon talking to people who identify or describe themselves as allies of Roger Stone and they said that they saw the spate of clemencies that came down today as very comforting to them. Because they believe it's a signal. The President is sending that Roger. Stone may be next in line for this type of executive action. I thought your use of the phrase Banana Republic was really interesting because a federal judge. Us that exact same phrase in a transcript that was recently released from a closed door hearing regarding the investigation. That's now closed into Andrew McCabe and the judge literally said that the fact that trump was tweeting about McCabe so often the fact that he appeared to be interfering in that process created the appearance of a Banana Republic. So the thing to keep an eye on both the president of course granting clemency to people who he views as his political allies in part because he sees them on Fox News and the inverse of that which is the president encouraging DOJ to weaponize itself against people who he sees as his foes. "These texts on how to put either sleep. Why don't we literally? But you know what? I'm talking about. Kevin up. Senate Republican leader Bill Brady's here. What are you more into gambling or we'd because apparently after last weekend? That's the deal you know, I'm into a balanced budget and growing the state's economy and. The budget. Yeah. All right, the budget, we got a good infrastructure program, I believe, and there's some good things in the budget healthcare for for nursing homes, slaps good education funding and some good things in the budget. The infrastructure piece going to get paid for is just the gas tax. That's not enough as well. There's several portions of the infrastructure, there's horizontal. And there's the vertical what's so horizontal would be roads and bridges. Okay. We've got pretty bad situation. The statement bridges Amen, Heff closed. Some if we don't do something. So the investment, I think is a, a great ROI. Not only in terms of we have to tear down and rebuild cost ten times more is opposed to economic development. We don't have an infrastructure. We can't keep them grow vertical part of that the vertical would be what we would invest in say, education, and hospitals and other things. That would be a portion in the way it was pretty structured is when we passed accustomed to show amendment lock boxing road fund money. So you can't spend anything else. Exactly. Seems like a good idea by the way. Yes. And we saw a lot of money under Begovic Quinn stripped away from those road projects with creative problem. And so now that the funds will go in there, the motivational funds will go in there. The registration funds will go in there. We can be assured. There will be reinvested in the others. The vertical was pretty much funded by the expansion of casino, gaming and sports betting. The betting piece goes into effect when I think everything becomes effective soon as possible, hopefully in the first of the year. Okay. And any concerns about the gambling peace. You think it's going to be regulated enough. I do I do I, I recused myself from that vote because of an interest, I have in a business that has a relationship with video poker company, but I recused myself from discussions of that particular piece of it gaming, I think become an industry and no doubt. And with the fan duels, draftkings of the world operating sort of, like Cowboys in the old west without anybody looking to get a piece of their revenue tax wise or other things. Why should we be left alone? Well, people are going to bet on sports one way or another, and, and the and the state getting its share as opposed to losing out the Indiana and other states into illegal industries. Makes sense and the leagues are all getting behind it. Dave the NBA the NFL, the NHL MLB in MLB babies. The first in here they're all getting in on the legalize sports betting. Yeah. They formalized relationships with some of the like the fan duals of the world. And, and this is the kind of the next chapter for them where they always wanted to distance themselves from them. And I think Senator Bill Brady what you're saying is if it's going to happen, why should we sit on the sidelines? Exactly. So the gas tax piece lot of people are not pleased about it. How I've been since we had a gas tax increase will, I think goes back to maybe want say, president two thousand nine I think you're right. I think it's longer than that further that, you know what's interesting, if you study win the last time, we had the gas tax and you were to adjust that from flation it would be almost exactly at the places that today. Okay. Let me let me say this. It wasn't my idea. In, if, if the Republicans control the legislature, there's probably not one piece of legislation that would have passed or budget the way it did. But we don't have control. We would have preferred I think, to see other revenue sources used but given where we are in and given the situation we were in, I feel the increase in more fuel tax was justifiable, particularly with the lock box the concern, obviously. And I know you're concerned about this as well are the small businesses that truckers, and the guys like that who aren't making a bunch of money? Interestingly the businesses in the state supported the infrastructure Bill, the trucking industry support of this, they need good roads to transport members willing to make that soi because, you know, replacing an axle, it's broken through pothole city is expensive. Exactly, the hardship will mostly be people who pay for it in from a business standpoint gas stations. Convenience stores near border states definite hardship their work. We're concerned about. That I know you're accused yourself from it, but do you have any sense of where this new casino or two casinos, go, don't executive take the rest of the year to figure that out, too. Well, it'll be up to the gaming board. Applications will be taken the game more, we'll have to justify their selection process, I think there will be a push to move quickly forward as possible the state needs resources. We still have a backlog of pay bills that we have to work on pain down, and anything can be done to bring those resources bring the business investment to the communities that are going to bring the jobs that come with the construction and the permanent jobs. Particularly the Rockford area. For instance, there's a real situation where the state of Wisconsin has looming gaming industry that hopefully will be able to block and be able to keep that business in Illinois rhythm losing to Wisconsin. That would be a good thing when we come back, once you answer, mysterious question for me, because you are elite Republican in the great state of Illinois. Is that harder than ever in give Republicans who are listening? Some reason to believe that they're doing the right thing, and that there's hope down the road. Because the idea that Republicans have just given up the state to Democrats. I don't think is a fair assessment of things. I agree with you, Mr. Dirk, and another. We'll come back with at a second. I at six fifty three what's going to firefighters have had to call an extra personnel to fight a fire in the roseland neighborhood, this morning at one hundred twelve and Michigan? We'll have that story at seven o'clock from the WGN newsroom, and they still have Michigan blocked.

And then she would she would find him but our, our guy did find the elephants force, and we were up close to elephants. I got I got about three and a half minute video of, of the elephants eaten, maybe a meter to two meters away from us using get immersed immersed in immersed in the language and culture when I when I take these trips. But can I tell you this? I asked our guide. How he finds these the, the animals, and it was just I'll just play it on my on my phone here. Can I haven't figured out how to how to be able to post these videos? Damp with unpredictable. But he's who provoke them, but can go through. I was reading press with us sort of coming just feeding so close to us. It's for you on the consumer the cat. France, the mental genius. How'd you know they're gonna be right there? It's una- bunk. I was with the Chris Barnes, and then David Turnley, they've attorney, Dr Kylie. She had to go back. She was with us the first day, and then the second day, then, then we had David Turnley for the, the second third session, so. Yeah, it was a Sarah, my wife and my daughter, Addie. I think I think that was everybody. And yeah, the lions came right? And sat right behind your I drive, I drive. We were the only ones to see lions at that point, the very first day out. And, and they came walked like, right close to our to our Jeep, and then walk behind it. And somebody, I think it was me who got up to, like, I was going to take a video and, and guide said, no don't get off, these lions see the vehicle and these people as, as one thing you know, that Jeep is too big to take down. So they're not gonna they're not gonna come. Look, they check you out, then they look at you not. They don't stare at you. But they, you know, they side I and they're, they're looking around and everything else that is going on. But it was it was credible. The elephants were credible the lions gonna make your heart, stop you look into their eyes and they're just unbelievable. And you know that you see him there with their cubs and we had two lion. Cubs were were there. One day that the mother lion was trying to get them to move. I mean these lines like the move. They don't they don't just stay in saying one spot. "But again i think she's an idiot but that's just it's dangerous ground man you gotta know not to go there as anybody asked tom arnold he's been making a tour yeah anybody else ready to listen to me i was the first had said that she lost it five years ago nobody paid attention anybody wanna listen she's cookie he's been saying she's crazy for a long thank you so much time there you go let's get the new by the way somebody said you guys never had gavin newsom or scharzenegger on c you want liar yeah let's get the news now more civil just and president trump thinking about commuting the prison sentence of former illinois governor a rob obligatory avik vich the guy is so acrylic al trump told reporters begovic did something dumb but a lot of politicians do the same thing and thinks is is sentence is excessive i part dumb probably not second part did something that everybody else does absolutely true third got punished too much for now you got to punish people for that when you catch him the fact that he said it out loud was unique in that he said he was going to give up a senate seat unless he got something for out loud on the phone wasn't moron happens is not new that they'd trump's right about that trump telling the reporters that he did say something dumb but again that a lot of politicians do the same what's that stat that for the last five illinois governors said ended up in prison isn't that amazing how do you feel about this idea though pardoning this guy for this isn't that saying so go ahead sell senate seats everybody else does it what i don't think it's a great idea whether it's an excessive sentence or not i really don't have any knowledge on that he was convicted of attempted bribery for political appointment to ask fourteen years years i'm sorry that is a long time a long sentence but you're selling senate seats i don't know meanwhile no opinion bad talk show host meanwhile trump was gonna throw the book at him chatting with reporters on board air force one today said he's also considering a pardon for martha stewart another pardon handed if you're famous you get pardoned i guess i don't i don't know what she got nailed for something everybody else does.

"Incredible outrage over this and there won't be it'll be another day and then everybody will move on and then when donald trump tries to pardon his cronies it'll be just oh well we're slowly boiling frog on our way to fascism so okay i guess that happened and so then when he fires the prosecutors well i guess that happened let's call it even okay hey did i mention deneche and i'll see you dancing dance boy dance so there's another part of the story that i think is worth discussing donald trump is potentially planning on a pardoning other people who have been convicted of crimes now the following people are not necessarily right wingers but they were convicted of crimes and it is interesting that he is reaching out to them and potentially offering them apart and so trump told reporters he was considering pardoning martha stewart and commuting the sentences of former governor rod blagojevich of illinois so just to do a little refresher on what their crimes were a jury found stewart guilty in two thousand four of obstructing justice and lying to investigators about the reason she sold shares of a company she served five months in prison for that convicted crime and then when it came to blagojevich he is currently serving a fourteen year sentence after being convicted of corruption stemming from a scheme to sell the senate seat that was left vacant by barack obama so i wanna go to a video from back in november twenty sixteen where trump was asked about laguardia vich keep in mind that begovic had appeared on trump's show the apprentice and here's what trump had to say about the crime that he was convicted of.

"Host carlson tucker last night it's the second time to court rejected a begovic appeal in doing and so it let's stand his convictions on corruption charges a federal judge in new york monday rejected a request from president trump and his personal lawyer michael cohen for a temporary restraining order an order they would have prevented federal prosecutors from reading files that were seized last week in a raid abc's aaron katersky was in the courtroom this case has donald trump more fearful than even the special counsels substantive russia investigation what's in michael collins files the white house and administration officials have told us president trump believes could be more damaging to him than anything that robert mueller comes up with and so he asked along with cohen the judge for a temporary restraining order to keep federal prosecutors from reading those files until they can sort out these issues of privilege the judge denied that he says the judge asked why the third client was unnamed he says cohen's legal team answered that that client didn't want his name uttered in open court the judge said there's no legal protection she forced coincidence at that point to read the name of cohen's third client katersky says there was an audible gasps in the courtroom when he said it was fox news host chanted sean hannity president trump set to meet with japanese prime minister shinzo abe's today at the president's maralago resort in florida it's a two day summit that's expected to focus on finding common ground on how to deal with north korea's nuclear challenge and the us military was not involved in a reported missile strike against the syrian government airbase near homes last night another one near damascus syrian television outlets began reporting on the strikes early this morning the pentagon says there had been no reports from any us military commanders in that region of us involvement skidded update now from wgn sports good morning good morning the white sox can't blame fatigue they were well rested for last night series opener in oakland after three straight postponements they played for the first time since thursday but the results whether saying they couldn't generate offense and the socks fell for.

"Win win governor was saying it's going to be a costly negative race moving forward jbc certainly addressed you last night i'm sure you saw his comments about how he's tired of you tacking him you have flaws too it's not just him how do you feel about moving forward you versus jay pritzker in the race well you know mr pritzker has been funding liguori funding matt again in the shenanigans of the senate seats sale that begovic tried to pull off he's dodged have property taxes too ripping the toilet so he's been parking his personal money in the bahamas and cayman island so he doesn't even have to pay his income tax he ended heritage billions he's been part of the corrupt machine for for years and years we cannot have that be governor he'll hand the governorship to mike madigan and he'll enable mike madigan to gerrymander districts again after the twenty twenty cents and believe me mike madigan will be there for the twenty twenty redistricting evaluate loves that he's done it for for decades so we can't have pritzker be governor period end of story turn out the lights in the state of illinois that if that happens that's why i'm working hard to unite the republican party but more importantly unite everyone independence centrists and democrats who know that we need to change and bring people together of what we can agree on let's stop the gerrymander let's stop trying to tax our way to bounce by just let's grow our economy let's get term limits on elected officials so some of this corruption and self healing can be eliminated over time these are the changes that we can make together on a bipartisan basis my guess is that the election cycle has started grueling campaign started right here is at twenty hours later and twenty billion dollars later it's going to be it's it's it's already on all right governor thank you very much congratulations.

"Between trials were two trials and so he was punished ironic that donald trump is doing much the same thing with his behavior towards muller investigation just openly taunting mocking deriding sneering uh undercutting claiming he's innocent either of him charges have been every repressive a do see a similarity between trump and blanco it's hard to see us similarity with with any on and trump i mean let's face it trump is it's evil personified i i you know he's he's given safe harbor to the clan and the nazis in the skinheads so wherever you want to say about blagojevich to compare him to trump i think is is unfair to begovic um so i i get what you're saying and i i think there's a certain brashness and an outward nece when it comes to how trump is handling this um uh so it's i could see that similarity i i get so grant you that one of the ironies of course is that uh uh you are were representing robert wave which uh and but she ran against his father in law for committee men of the thirtythird ward and defeated that would be richard mellon robert way the chose his career thank you agree with me after the supporters from richard now way back when in the midnineties when he first ran for state rep why did you run against mo for commitment so i i've lived in a thirtythird award it's now been since 2004 so so i've been there for some time.
