"President Biden says he meant what he said and he said what he felt The president and his speech last weekend with an improvised line about Vladimir Putin For God's sake this man can not remain power His staff immediately clarified the United States is not seeking regime change any more than it was before but yesterday the president said he also wasn't taking back his exclamation It was especially my outrage He shouldn't remain in power just like you know bad people shouldn't continue to do bad things But it doesn't mean we're having fundamental policy to do anything to take Putin down in any way NPR senior political editor and correspondent domenico montanaro is for this domenico Good morning Good morning Steve I guess it's not surprising that Biden feels that way No not at all I mean this was my first thought when I heard it I'm certainly perked my ears up but Biden had called Putin a war criminal and on the same trip called him a butcher A lot of democratic strategists have been talking to actually said that they think Biden from the beginning should have just leaned into it Paul begala who was a senior adviser in the Clinton White House was emphatic about that and said that when the dust settles on this what Biden did might actually compare pretty favorably with what other popular tough talk from Cold War era presidents have done Here's what he said As for so called gaffes I think this will go down in history like when Ronald Reagan called the Soviet Union to evil empire And the legend is a staff didn't want him to do it and he fought and he fought and he just said it Because he thought it And I think that's what Biden did Yeah Not quite a label like evil empire but Biden has been struggling in the polls when it comes to his handling Ukraine and people think that he needs to be stronger so we'll see if this actually is popular There was a lot of criticism though of the president saying this And I was trying to sort this out I mean when I saw the video it was clear to me that it improvised I kind of understood what he meant I also understood that this was not going to be a change in policy and they were going to be clarifying as The White House immediately did Why was it a big deal Well it's an Oscar moment for President Biden diplomatically you know the line threatened to complicate things with allies until that very last line.

"Four the last thirty nine years The state of new york has been governed by someone named cuomo. And so this is really the passing of the dynasty right may major political franchise in american history. And i can tell you one person who's giggling right now and boring a scots. Which would be the ghost of ed koch. The old the old dynastic rivalry from that. This is primary. Yahoo cuomo beaten eighty two rise. Big fall guys. We ought to hit the male. I think so okay. Quick plugs here. First of all you've got a male bay question. Just email it to us. Acts on tap at g mail dot com on tampa gmail.com. And if you can't get enough of us. The great. Mr robert gibson. I do a newsletter twice a week which is free. Can you believe it You just have to subscribe to hack on tap dot bulletin dot com hacks on tap out bulletin dot com and we talked political inside stuff just like here and includes some tidbits and links and obscure references. You i think will enjoy it. We couldn't afford axelrod but gibson. I are doing this one and check it out at hacks on tap dot bulletin dot com. Keep working at it boys. I may bargain with you. You know if you we pick up your offer significantly we We're break minimum wage and next offer. We're looking at it guys. I gotta run and talk about this on. Cnn so designate begala to handle my question. His own see you later acts. Let's guys say ax. So paul here's question one from walter for you. What do you think the chances are that. Joe manchin is walking the line so that door is left open to changing parties and joining the republican side. Either after twenty twenty two or in twenty twenty four zero or very close deserve. The democrats may push him out. They being stupid but they're not stupid and particularly democratic party led by joe biden is not going to do something so stupid as to push him out. There's zero chance. I've known mansion golly since he was a pri low ranking i think is a state representative working bill clinton's campaign in nineteen ninety-two which we won west virginia with mansions helping a landslide. So i don't do a very long time. He's an actual democrat. He cares deeply about bipartisanship. When he was governor he had a democratic legislature. He wouldn't sign any bills. That didn't have republicans sport and co sponsors to this is a really important thing for him in his value system. So he's a bipartisan democrat. But he will always be democrat. Save this tape. If he ever switch his party's. You can stick it in my ear but he will never leave the democratic party. I think you're totally right. And we're going to do a rare a podcasting first up a gala doubleheader year at the question that would have gone to axelrod but he had to go one hundred dollars of cnn. All right here. We go from ryan. Let's imagine president biden doesn't run for reelection. When will he make that official by announcing that decision. Would he wait until after the midterm say january. Twenty twenty three other any hints or clues. We should look for before then and you can knock this one out of the park is i think i know. What your answer's gonna. Yeah no president. Wants to be a lame duck and joe biden knows that he spent eight years in the white house watching a president obama. And the i i think he's definitely running. We're watching him doing everything that he needs to do. To go and run. I just think that any speculation that country is just going to true false. He's this guy is at the top of his game. I mean i know he is. He's the oldest person to be president. And i admire and respect that but holy moly. He's getting stuff. Done that. Obama or clinton or everybody back to fdr only dreamt of so. He's in the most difficult political environment in my lifetime. He has been remarkably successful so I want to run. And i'm quite sure he will. Yeah i totally agree. There's one presidential rule of incumbency. Which is the superman rule. The one thing superman never does is holds a press conference saying. Hey everybody today. I'm wearing kryptonite underwear. Wow superman's dead. How do we pull that off. I'm never ever do anything like that. And i think biden health permitting and there's a good chance that we'll try to run again and my guess is depending on. How successfully is the next two years they'd be better off with him than if kamala harris was the nominee but there were you about mccain because mythology when mccain was running against obama. He was old for that day but of course he'd be a spring chicken today but that there were people pundits otherwise serious people with the fancy degrees who were saying that will mccain will or should announce he'll be just a one term right. I thought those preposterous a. I'm sure mccain. Whoever suggested that out of the room isn't he yet. No he kept a few moves from the old days in hanoi couple of players around for moments like that. No seriously john. New was paul that you never undercut yourself. There was all this romantic attraction in the dock. Rec- particularly the pundits had never worked in actual politics. Hey would it be great if we president who said all right. I've been inaugurated. So i'm only going to do the right thing and never run again whenever presidency with no politics and the party leaders at every level than watching this on television..

"By the way. I'm announcing my exploratory committee. Now to look at running for governor the great empire state of new york. Well listen to thing. that's you know. Andrew cuomo is the most pugnacious Politician that i've ever met i. I worked for him once in the past when he ran for attorney. General paul worked with him when he was in the cabinet. He is a guy who he he. His first instinct is to fight. And i'm sure his instinct here was the fight in fact right before we started. Recording this podcast. I was watching his lawyer on television. Trying to disqualify discredit the testimony that was offered by the young woman who said she was groped which is always a bad way to go. So what's interesting to me. Is that his lawyers out there. And an hour later He's announcing his resignation. And i just think that know. He had an impossible road to hoe here. You know the bricks were just too many and this was common. Yeah the surprise here is. There wasn't a thirty day last stand with them. You know doing the tony. Montana scene from scarface. What he no but the thing is what do we say about crisis communications. Figure out where you have to go and get there as fast as possible. And i think that What he probably became convinced of grudgingly was they. Were gonna throw his ass outta there. I know it was clear. And this was the the problem with being cuomo when you operate with the bludgeon and thumb screw and scream method and politics over time. You have no friends so you're in trouble that your your so called allies. Not only won't help you. They sit around and say. How fast can we kill the guy. 'cause there's a wounded animal. He's even more dangerous so here we he became a you know. He had a reign of terror in albany did legislature was frightened of him and now i think they're frightened of of their own seats in their own concerns. I mean he became a liability and he had to go. But but this may quickly Just this may be. I use this joke lot. Maybe i have before but this is going to be like the old alley. Joke about buddy rich the famously savaged drummers funeral twenty thousand people showed up. Why for buddy rich. They wanted to make sure he was dead. No nobody's going to believe the fourteen days and then they're going to triple check the signature but one of the reasons. I think he did this now. As he wants to. Short circuit a bunch of these investigations. Yep and we'll see. I mean there's a criminal probe open in four jurisdictions Relative to some of this. And i think he's trying you know that's where the story goes. David i go away right paul. I think he grinds on well. It doesn't my guess is it's completely uninformed guests is sitting here on a podcast with you guys but wh- traffic in those anders lawyer. A former attorney general. I wonder if he or his lawyers didn't go to tisch. James the current attorney general and those other prosecutors and say okay ladies and gentlemen global settlement. Don't press any charges on me. And i quit and i think that's a lot of what's been gone. I suspect that's the conversation. That's that's the one thing that i could think of. That might cause the governor to go ahead and accept the reality and resigned. I have no again no knowledge but just having known him a very long time. I david i think your assessment is one hundred percent right. S.'s births You know it's the old adage in politics that he seemed to have never learned which is at france. Common friends go but enemies accumulate. Yeah yeah yeah. And he's got plenty. No i think you're i think that's exactly what's been going on. Paul is a You know he's got bigger concerns than simply giving up his office. And i think they've been trying to use what leverage he has to try and short-circuit those he hasn't wanna move from albany to attica. Believe we we've all been in. You know the the political crisis meeting in the incumbents office new. The room is set up by the terms of art. You here at first. It's like this is bad. Owns the news. Cycle polls are going to drop. Christ we may get a primary now. This could cut off the money. The electors look really tough. But the minute somebody says criminalization room empties out. Everybody quits or hires. The campaign is over. And that word has been brought up in the last week and cuomo bill and i think he's he's doing the strategic retreat to dig in and try to survive that and it's no longer about governor politics. You know when his chief of staff quit on. Sunday night I think that was a very strong signal of exactly Exactly what you're saying. That now the i will say the one of the things i noticed in the in the times yesterday was they did a big profile of kathy. Focal the lieutenant governor. Who's been lieutenant governor for seven years. Who will now become the governor and it shows you just how low profile she was that they actually ran a pronunciation guide to her name along with the story about the the the woman who is about to become governor but In the great governor tradition. I'm sure cuomo loved that low profile part. I remember tommy thompson governor every year. They'd shrink their office until we basically the size of a phone booth open. They never show up so But now you're gonna have a big tough democratic jungle fight for the governorship. Yeah which is a big powerful important governorship and there's going to be very little republican competition in which his james the attorney general. Who is a big player in this could could be. Yes could could very well be a candidate and There there probably will be others as well before we leave this story about andrew cuomo's resignation. We should note what the cuomo name. And what the cuomo franchise has meant in new york. Yeah epic his father. Mario cuomo three term governor towering figure in american politics andrew cuomo himself a three term Or almost three term governor for twenty four years out of the last. You know forty five or forty. I guess forty less. His father was elected in nineteen eighty two thirty nine years.

"Just doesn't aside. I was talking to a former member of republican member of congress. The other day and i was ruing. The prospect of kevin mccarthy is speaker of the house because republicans have a good chance of winning the house. next time. this guy said he's never going to be speaker of the house. And i said why and he said because trump will screw them in the end like trump always does that. Trump will that the george w bush dagger between the shoulder example. He used said. Look what happened to george p went there and he he Kiss the ring and Humiliated himself trump's. Thank you very much santa on his way and then knifed him in the back on the way out the door. Yes the old story. The the general comes up and says you know leader stalin. Your your hair looks fantastic day. Oh thank you very much. Shoot the guy in his whole family. what happened. I don't like talk about my hair dangerous. So the guy at a true story murphy. There Well i if i say it's true than styles. Relatives will kill me. But i'll tell you. I was at the and you can look this up and mike murphy. Commentary dot com. I with styling museum twenty years ago and had a picture of all the young revolutionaries and they do the old tour with the lady and the you know the cardboard closed this is silent with many young revolutionaries loved him as a leader. And there's one guy of wolf is staring at you. It's the creepiest thing. The whole museum is the greatest thing. This tracy yeah. It's georgia is so you can. Actually i have a picture myself sitting on his toilet in his armored train. That's a kind of fun stuff. I was doing when i was working in central europe but anyway to end this long story and i recommend the peace you either can hear the old russia national anthem as a soundtrack to it on the website. Sh they killed everybody in the photo over ten years. Oh my god nobody. He knew in. Like highschool revolutionary times. Live well it certainly would kill you for sitting on his toilet. Wants to kill me right now. By the way what note the other person who has the matching train car which was given as a loving gift dictator dictator by styling. Is kim jungles father. The original korean dictator had matching armored cars to terrorize the peasants. But anyway question for you below sea calls eupol and says it looks like it's going to be a longer war in this senate thing. Do i pass the infrastructure thing. Now to give biden more muscle to get the big spending fight done and give them a win. But i have to untangle myself or do i sit. There held hostage by this thing and try to pick off member by member. What do you think her strategy ought to be now. Because i think there's a real danger even if they get the reconciles things going to slow down and the stronger biden is the better. They're going to do in the spending pie. i think i nancy pelosi is the sixth speaker either. Worked with or against and she's by far the best. I actually think she might be the best speaker in american history. Certainly yeah and Sort of an under appreciated asset among democrats always look to the presidency and we we love our democratic presidents but not under appreciated if you've worked in the white house while she was pat her tell you that absolutely or while she wasn't. Yeah exactly right. God rest tom. Foley sold please. You people over fully any day of the week Right so so first. Off i just i i cannot tell you how much i love and admire her and how glad i am. She's air second. She knows just the raw politics set aside the policy. Here's what the democrats have teed up. Well i look republicans actually write. It is highly likely republicans. Take the house. And here's why they have history on their side right. The the newly elected president loses seats every time for the last seventy five years except thirty four great depression after the new deal. Sixty two after weeks. Four weeks after the cuban missile crisis carry picked up a couple of seats and to nine eleven right. So thank you picked up. Say i think you you. You're short changing yourself. I think didn't you pick up seats in ninety eight ninety eight but that's not a newly elected president. Oh i see okay. The first midterm is just death. Good president obama was for president clinton. It was not for president bush because of nine eleven so the average is thirty. One seats that the party in the white house for newly elected president either party thirty one pelosi can lose five. She's down thirty. She just history so they have history they also of course have the mat making authority. They control far more maps in the republican party than the democrats do Because of their success in state legislative racist those are really powerful assets and then third in a lot of key states. they're passing voter suppression. What i believe. Voter suppression laws That are going to restrict the capacity for a black and brown and young voters to get in. In phot- these are three huge advantages structure republican democrats pretty much all they got against that is the president's popularity and economic strength so if i'm a democrat i should wake up every morning and say what can i do to make. Joe biden more popular. What can i do to make the economy stronger. Both of those accomplished by passing this bill today tomorrow as soon as possible. Those are the two things david you've been there. I've been there. I often great tension between the congressional wing of the party in the white house wing of the party and they don't always seem to understand that you know they're in this thing together. They hang together the hang separately app. Lutely pelosi gets that. But here's another argument That may be closer to their hearts. Which is this the quicker they pass this stuff and particularly infrastructure. Bill the quicker. They get to be cutting ribbons. Yes and announcing hola progress in their districts and So you know. I'm sure she will be selling that message to them as well. But there's going to be you know political success compounds so you can hit a home run. Hit a home run. That's rare you know. But a lot you know some of these Particularly of these progressive members are not professional politicians. Right there activists who became politicians and they want to exact as much as they can and they and because the republicans are likely to take over the house. There is a this is like the last helicopter out of saigon. You know everybody's grabbing for the skit right to try and get their priority on board so it's gonna be. It's gonna be tough sledding but it binds lucky pelosi is there If there's ever anyone who can land this it will be. It will be her. And i believe and i've said this before here. It's going to be her final act as speaker. Because i think if she gets his package through. It's not a unlikely that she will move on and take an appointment from From the president may be ambassador to the vatican Which would be great capstone to her career but she is the person who can get the so guys while we were hammering newsflash here. We don't need you. Don't need regular news media. You can just listen to us hours from now. We're just going to hang around with you. The rest of your lives and just read off the bulletin as we get them on our phones but Andrew cuomo has announced he will be resigning effective in fourteen days. And you take number..

"What's different. What's different is yes. People used to get mad. People didn't use to grovel and apologize like this for it. I think that's different was social media. "Go through as you go through charging documents if you go through. Somebody's charging documents. I live in. dc. And i was there in january six and it was very weird very strange but you see people who were like taking a selfie after like breaking known the capital. And then they're like how could you possibly know it was me. Black guy also bragged about it on a dating site. Yes a dealing with the most supreme white people here dangerous offer together. It's true and that's obvious. And that's the challenge here. Is that like. We know that this can go terribly wrong. And we've seen it happen before we sought with oklahoma city. Which before then you saw that with ridge and waco and a host of other events and the concern here is that how the fbi how'd security agencies do basically everything which is to spend a lot of money overemphasize invasions of privacy and bumble. Along is going to get us into a disaster. So let me ask about the other crime issue which street crime which is going on in a very big way right now. Forty-nine percent of the people say it's a very big problem at homicides largest single year increase since nineteen sixty and the new york mayor race which the primary is tuesday or wednesday is going to be the mayor of new york. That is the big issue and the leading candidate. This is fairly new. Eric adams I'm just learning about him. After an american ex cop ex republican and i love this strapped all the time. This guy goes to church with a guy and he's got the issue crime you know. It may be big blue new york. But they're worried about it and he is the one who was when they were all zigging he was egging. He's like defunding the police no and he's ready. He talks about how opposition to funding the police. Opposition to it wins across everything race ideology age so my question is the democrats who are pandering to that. Who is it four or are you getting. Its for fifteen percent of the party. Who are the over educated over caffeinated over opinionated liberals on twitter. I guess we gotta have them. I check did with the pollsters democratic. Pollsters garin hart yang. They say in democratic dominated city's crime has no passed education and how housing affordability is a number one issue. So smart democrats are listening to that valdez. A former police chief is a congresswoman from florida. she's announced she's running for senate in her announcement. She talks about having been a police chief. You're seeing that more and more around the country here in la job. Kayano is a former cop running for mayor. I don't know how he's going to do but more more. You're seeing that democrats have got to get on offense on this. Because it's real you know a jeff bezos is not going to get mud. It's the people who are in my party who suffer. The most crime goes right. But i think that that's something in some ways you heard from people at what you've heard from. I would say class. African american communities for years is that you have simultaneous policing under policing if you look at say homicide clearance rates and a lot of major cities honolulu. There's a twenty five percent homicide clearance rate that means in one out of four cases. A case is closed. that doesn't necessarily mean solve. It just means closed like what exactly are homicide police in honolulu. Doing who knows who could say. But i think that that's the thing here. Is that when you heard what i heard people talking about. Defunding the police. I heard it in the way of like. Wow this restaurant sucks. We do not want this restaurant. Keep being like this restaurant anymore. Right and so report choice of words. There's also a sense that there's also a sense that like look among the people who is doing the biggest defunding of police in twenty nine hundred and twenty twenty with donald trump by trying to pull money from so-called sanctuary cities and so. I think that there's a real issue. I think that eric adams and i think there are a lot of people in the left. Who are less of him. That are really concerned about this. But if you can thread the needle. When i call the police someone should come and the police should not sit outside my apartment waiting for something to happen so that they can bust me on something and then know that they can violate my rights and received qualified immunity in court because the supreme court made it up. I think that's a needle that people are going to be into yes. They are.

"So you guys listen to this. The new republican talking point. You're going to love it. You know the little attack. They had on the capital on january. Six okay now. It's the fbi. Who did it. I mean i was. I was a couple of weeks ago making fun of the fact that they they were saying just a few weeks ago. It was liberals dressed up. Now i guess out now tucker. Carlson pushing the fbi. And i had this goes. He talks about it for a day. Now the my pillow guy's gonna tweet it out and then before the month is out dinner desouza. We'll have a documentary biden's f. b. i. And the death of liberty and trump will be like people are saying it's the fbi back to being at war with our own security forces. The capitol police were given voted gold medals doing not that day for defending the capital and twenty one republicans. Yeah would vote for that for what the police wh. What is happening. Where we're one republican a freshman congressman from georgia. Republican refused to shake the hand of officer. Mike oni washington dc police department who had helped save. The capital refused to even shake his hand. It's weird how this is becoming. This has been ret conned multiple times and there have been no offer over. It's kind of like it's a weird complicated where there are three different versions of the same story and everyone just keeps running through them like i. It wasn't that bad then. It was well it was antifa. But now it's like oh it's the fbi and then you see this weird martin bailey argument. Well they're like well the f. b. i. has infiltrated these groups and then tucker. Carlson went with like the fbi. Did it which it would be bad so but we know that these capital police. These very brave people were only about a minute ahead of the mob. And this is a mob with a blood bloodlust. We know this. They smeared feces on pelosi's office walls. When you're when you're communicating and feces that's my rule..

"Be prepared for wild Houston weather Next on the 10 on 7 40. Alright, We're rousing the good Begala Pretty early this morning. We'll get him in just a moment. He was with me last night during our 2020 election coverage. Clearly a little frustrated last light on waiting for some of these races to be called when the numbers are right in front of you. I mean, good Lord. When you have a 700,000 vote, lead and deal 93% of the votes have been counted out. Do you not say that the election is over in that particular cause paper ballots? That's right, because there's always more balanced to be found right? By the way, Cory Lewandowski already on Fox this morning, calling out the pollsters and the pundits. Not only did they get it wrong and Flora, which we now see Donald Trump won by the largest margin, probably any statewide gin in the last 10 years in Florida, complete blowout. We knew that those members were accurate at nine o'clock p. M. But most of the pollsters and London's Refused to give Donald Trump the credit he deserved for winning Florida by such a huge margin. Look, he won by a bigger margin in Senator Rick Scott, one by government run to save just one did Marco Rubio's last reelection campaign. He even best in his own numbers in Florida by almost three times what he got last time. So his numbers in Florida a massive scene? This wasn't a surprise. Anybody could count knew that this exactly where we were, but look at where we are in the battleground states in North Carolina in Georgia in In Michigan. Donald Trump is winning by insurmountable margins in those states. And yet, these so called experts refuse to call it. They were wrong again in this election, just like they were wrong four years ago. There's never been accountability for these people. Most of them should be fired to be very honest with you well and in refusing to call it you don't know what they were doing in terms of suppressing votes, gearing up more votes, how they were playing a part in the campaign. Well here. Here's the good news if you want For some good news out of all this. Clearly, the media does not call the shots with the American people. They can say whatever they want. They can try to suppress all they want. The bottom line is we talked about weeks ago. Sheriff Fryer is that Trump supporters showed up. They voted for the president. "That one of its most effective weapons against Trump is trump himself. What he says and how he acts. But gun says they're also trying to lay out. The clear difference between these two men are best counterprogramming to Donald Trump is contrast Joe Biden's leadership, his vision for the future. His steadiness. "Like so much of American life In the past few years, the presidential election can seem to be about just one person, Donald Trump. There is another candidate, though Joe Biden rarely dominates the news cycle the way that the president can, but polls show he is beating Trump in almost every key battleground state. So what exactly is his strategy? Here's NPR's asthma. Biden held one in person event this week in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. I have to Start by speaking about what millions Americans know when they wake up every morning with worry, anxiety and fear. We're still a country in crisis. This is typical Joe Biden, trying to stay focused on the pandemic will be goaded into outrage over inflammatory tweets. Occasionally, he rolls out a new plan. Some would say he's playing it safe. Senior advisor and needed done puts it this way. What we're doing right now is showing people what kind of President Joe Biden would be. "Eight two you can you can call about anything you want to talk about. And we will take you get to determine the subject of my favorites. Obviously, I said last variance in the cricket schools alum. Played afghanistan. I don't know. I don't know quite what I find slightly more ridiculous about that the Afghans played cricket all the Irish flag, but perhaps be a little after phobic and Irish phobic that. But so if you're talking about a quick at schools, we'll talk about that is International Women's Day. And I see the Australian Prime minister Scott Morrison has said it's not about setting Australians against each other. And trying to push some down to lift others up. We want to see women rise. But we want to see women rise. We don't want to see women rise only on the basis of others doing worse. And it does seem to me that we actually have a crisis of manhood in America and many other parts of the world. And that we have opened up a lot of the. Most pleasurable aspects of life to women in the last century or so and so now, for example, women graduate from college at far higher rates than men women are increasingly dominant in the professions, such as the law profession and the most sought after professions, the new jobs, a generally in women friendly areas and the dying jobs, the males. And the factor is jobs that men did men as my friend Tucker Carlson talks about in his fine. New book. Talking points out that the one of the things that happens when a man has no work when a man has nothing to fulfill him in life, nothing to give him a sense of dignity in life. One of the things that almost automatically happens is he doesn't become an attractive candidate for marriage, so men increasingly large parts of rural America checking out of the marriage game. We have falling life expectancy rates for rural white males in America. We took coal from Margo in Newton, Massachusetts, Massachusetts male life expectancy rates a fulling because there are a lot of ordinary men who basically dying of despair the heroine and meth epidemics raging across rural America, a largely epidemics for men. It's men who had died from it. So we have all these opportunities to celebrate women. And obviously we have things like the women's March men get a some input into the women's March. They have Louis Farrakhan who big calypso Louis who's the big guy that the three women behind the women's March love him and think he's great so men like Louis Farrakhan, do have some male input into the big women's March. But essentially we are living in times, and I think that actually. As part of the whole trans thing as well. As a couple of years ago. There was a survey that said for every nine. For every one woman who transitions into a man there are nine men who transition into women. So that in other words, the whole transgender movement is in a certain sense a flight from being male because there's no point to what's the point of being a man in today's well from the minute, you go a grade school grade school men and manliness is crushed to use the word Manley manliness the manly virtues. These are expressions that we once used fairly serious. And now a us either as hate speech times or parole. So we have a it's a very it's an unusual situation. And it's a big story. It's a big story politics goes on a costs and speaking of men, they still have a few in the democrat party and tremendous Paul Begala Paul Begala used to I don't know whether he's still on CNN of that at the time. Spend more time sitting at the gate at American airports than I do. Now. Paul Begala used to host crossfire on CNN used to be the left-wing guy, and he was just rather soda boring attack dog I always found, but the boring attack dog has said that Trump must be done. He's pulled the gal who's been left behind by the New Democrats. He saying Trump must be dancing for joy at the news. That Sherrod Brown will not be running for president Sherrod Brown announced yesterday that he would not be running for president. He announced it to a room full of crickets chopping. He's in case. You didn't know who he is. I don't know who he is either. Oh, wait. He's a democrat Senator from Ohio. He's a bit of a boy Chaba. He he looks. He looks younger than easy as he seems quite pleasant in a sort of other bland vapid, boring kind of way and Paul Begala is arguing that. This was the guy who could. Have beaten Trump in twenty twenty. He pulled the gala never mind understanding his opponents, Paul Begala doesn't understand his own party Sherrod Brown. That's Sherrod Brown is a straight white male in a party that has some fetish is identity politics that it that the first criteria. They look for when they're examining. Whether you're viable candidate is whether you check any interesting identity politics boxes that happened to catch their fancy Alexandro Casio Cortes is a Latino woman Ilan Obama is a Muslim immigrant from Somalia Elizabeth, and that's why if you have the fortune to be white in the democrat party, you pretend you're not like it like Elizabeth Warren who's one one thousand and twenty four Cherokee. Because there's no point being there's no point just not check in any of the boat. But also, Paul Begala goes wrong in this in this sense. It's going to be something special. That Bates Trump if Trump is to be beaten in two thousand twenty you can't beat him with Sherrod Brown. You can't beat him with something normal. You got more sense. That's why they made a huge mistake with Hillary. Last time round because they calculated that Hillary was centrist. And and how politics innocence where she was so famous when you become a at a certain level famous as in first lady famous it's hard to pin. It's harder to pin. Partisan politics on you. And so they thought that they would go with something moderate and centrist. And in fact, crazy bunny is where the parties heart is they want to romance. They want to fall in love you fall in love with a guy like Sherrod Brown. You can fall in love with a Kamala Harris, you can fall in love with a Bernie Sanders. You can fall in love with half. They want to go full left. That's where the energy in the party. Is that's what we saw yesterday. And people keep thinking there's this sort of fake the there actually is still an old school sensible centrist moderate, Joe, Biden, if he ever does get in the race, Joe Biden is going to be running not just well to the left of who he was in the seventies. He's going to be running well to the left of where he was as a bama's vice president, that's the point the party is moving left ear and left yo- wo- Kia and woke here, and it doesn't want to be told it put up with Hillary Clinton last time it put up with her. They believed all the big shots. The big shots said to them you count win with crazy burning. You can only win with Hilary. Yes. She's boring. Yes. She steph. Yes, she's charmless. Yes. She's unlikable. Yes. She keeps falling over in public. But look we can lean against the wall and say, this is the first woman president in America. Okay. She comes. Stand up on aided. She she she's she's mixed up with this crooked foundation. But she will be. So they said, okay, we'll go where sicker Hillary Clinton? But we'll do as we're told. They're not gonna do is that told this time round. And that's someone they've got they've got these various lanes as they say in primaries, you've got the left wing lane. You've got the centrist lane. You've got the right wing lane. You've got the foreign policy lane. You got the fiscally conservative line all the rest of it. "Skulls talking about that is International Women's Day. And I see the Australian Prime minister Scott Morrison has said it's not about setting Australians against each other and trying to push some down to lift others up. We want to see women rise. But we want to see women rise. We don't want to see women rise only on the basis of others doing worse. And it does seem to me that we actually have a crisis of manhood in America. And many other parts of the world in that we have opened up a lot of the. Most pleasurable aspects of life to women in the last century or so. And so now, for example, women graduate from college at far higher rates than men women are increasingly dominant in the professions, such as the law profession and the most sought after professions, the new jobs generally in women friendly areas, and the dying jobs, the mills and the factor is a jobs that mended men as my friend Tucker Carlson talks about in his fine. New book. Talking points out that one of the things that happens when a man has no work when a man has nothing to fulfill him in life, nothing to give him a sense of dignity in life. One of the things that almost automatically happens is he doesn't become an attractive candidate for marriage, so men increasingly large parts of rural America checking out of the marriage game. We have falling life expectancy rights for rural right males in America. We took a coal for Mago in Newton, Massachusetts, Massachusetts male life expectancy rates a falling. Because of a lot of ordinary men who basically dying of despair, the heroine and meth. Epidemics, raging across rural America are largely epidemics for men. But essentially we are living in times. And I think that actually is part of the whole trans thing as well as a couple of years ago. There was a survey that said for every. Nine. For every one woman who transitions into a man there are nine men who transition into women. So that in other words, the whole transgender movement is in a certain sense a flight from being male because there's no point what's the point of being a man in today's world from the minute. You gotta gray school grade school men and manliness is crushed to use the word Manley. Manliness the manly virtues. These are expressions that we once used fairly serious. And now a us either as hate speech, terms or Perot? So we have a it's a very it's an unusual situation. And it's a big story. It's a big story politics goes on a costs and speaking of men, they still have a few in the democrat party and tremendous Paul Begala Paul Begala, whether he's still on CNN. But at the time when I spend more time sitting at the gate at American apple it's than I do. Now. Paul Begala used to host crossfire on CNN. He used to be the left-wing guy, and he was just rather sort of boring tact dog I always found, but the bowling attack dog has said that Trump must be done. He's pulled the goal has been left behind by the New Democrats. He's saying Trump must be dancing for joy at the news that Sherrod Brown will not be running for president Sherrod Brown. Announced yesterday that he would not be running for president. He announced it to a room full of crickets chirping. He's in case, you didn't know who he is. I don't know who he is either. Oh, wait. He's a democrat Senator from Ohio. He's a bit of a boy Chaba. He he looks. He looks younger than easy as he seems quite Pleasanton, a sort of other bland vapid, boring kind of way and Paul Begala is arguing that. This was the guy who could have beaten Trump in twenty twenty. He pulled the gala never mind understanding his opponents, Paul Begala doesn't understand his own party Sherrod Brown. That's Sherrod Brown is a straight white male in a party that has so fetish is identity politics that it that the first criteria. They look for when they're examining. Whether you're viable candidate is whether you check any interesting identity politics boxes is that happened to catch their fancy Alexandro Casio Cortes is a Latino woman Ilan Oma is a Muslim immigrant from Somalia Elizabeth, and that's why if you have the misfortune to be white in the democrat party, you pretend you're not like it like Elizabeth Warren who's one one thousand and twenty fourth Cherokee. Because there's no point being there's no point just not checking any of the bolt. But also, Paul Begala goes wrong in this in this sense. It's going to be something special that beats Trump. If Trump is to be beaten in twenty twenty Yukon beat him with Sherrod Brown. You can't beat him with something normal. You got more sense. That's why they made a huge mistake with Hillary. Last time round because they calculated that Hillary was centrist, and and politics in a sense where she was so famous when you become a at a certain level famous as in first lady famous it's hard to pin. You can fall in love with off these crazy crazy crazy people that you can fall in love with an Alexandria Casio. They want to romance they want a romance. And so the idea that you could beat Trump with they're going to go. They want to go full left. That's where the energy in the party.
