Che Guevara as an Icon
"What is one of the most popular images symbolizing revolutionary and radical politics. That you can even think of for me. It's definitely that image of che guevara wearing a beret looking off into the distance. Are we going into this topic of il-chang give out so the year is two thousand nine and met my very first college party and i'm sherlyn you know relaxing all cool not playing some bebo and some guy walks in with t shirt and immediately. It caught my eye because number one. Cuban and number two. It's gigolo at number three. it's a white guy wearing a chicken. I don t shirt and it wasn't very different from any of the times that i saw ceva anywhere else but suddenly some white kid walking into a party wearing a t shirt had me feeling things that i had never felt before when it had seen shale at his image that grew up seeing china's image almost everywhere growing up in miami. You not really presented with people who are very different from your upbringing so growing up with a bunch of cubans. It never occurred to anybody to put j. o. On a t shirt and walk around with it carmen. And i were both raised. Cuban americans in miami where the perspective of tshuva i would say is generally that. This man was very violent figure in the revolution. It's the very first time. I think that i was confronted. With the fact that somebody else might have a different idea of what this image stands for. So get into the image. The image i'm talking about. I'm sure you've seen countless amount of times. It has been said that it is the most reproduced photograph of the twentieth century. And it is the image of chiang about looking off into the distance very serious. He's got long hair and he's wearing a beret with a single star in the middle. The image is called gabrielle at equal or heroic warrior. Yup well i have never translated that. And now as i'm saying it in english it's even
Limited Time Gaming Events: Yay or Nay?
"This week. We all know that animal crossings. Museum Day Stamp. Rally event has started. And this comes the question delimited time evincing games. Are they good or are they bad or they fun? Are they stressful or are they something in between to some games do that well to other games do it poorly what do you think what do you think about limited time events inside games? For example Animal Cross Caesium Day stamp. Rally the Cherry blosser. Diy Events and all of those other things will the animal crossing events are really interesting to me to in this in this question specifically because like generally I don't mind limited time events in Games but also I think of those in the context of online games or multiplayer games with big communities that you're interacting with other people and so like the item that you got at that point is kind of like a badge of honor of like. I've been playing this long that I got to be at this event. At this time you know stuff like Monster Hunter or any M. O. Or or dislike legal legends did a lot of leg limited time events are stone. Does all these events like the VAT type of thing. I never really minded. It's a little different. I don't mind it in animal crossing either but it's a little different than it is like primarily single player game. Obviously this is a similar thing of like you can show off you know. I'm sure there's somebody out there who's got that guards and they're like you know I was there for the Easter event with my Anger Arch. But like it's less thrilling when it something that you're just sort of building for your own collection. I think that that's kind of my initial my gut reaction. I think you putting your finger on something there. I actually animal. Crossing fundamentally is is structured around the calendar year. Right there events that you come back for some of the attraction is to come back and see what? Christmas looks like what Easter looks like in the game so I actually really liked that. I don't think they've yet fully connected the dots on how to let everybody in then celebrate like if you take like a a fortnight concert event for example is this giant thing where everybody rallies around. It's a big story online and yet the Easter eggs stuff was pretty big around Across thing to if you're on social media it was mostly people complaining that they got so many eggs but there is kind of like the starting point of something that uses an event to create a connection between people. I think ultimately those other ones where that I like split tune was a great example of timed events to like haven't been you break into teams and rally around the these two teams and align with one was really really fun from a you know. Working Dad perspective. It's never awesome dead. They are time limited in had to miss out on some of them because I was doing something else and on a trip or spending time with family but I. I fundamentally like that stuff. Yeah I think I think the time items especially when it comes to like weapons armor or super cool. I think it's like when you see somebody in game. And you see the geared. They've got because they did sometimes event. It's it shows like. Oh this person's really hardcore. They've got this super rare item from this time to vent interesting. It just doesn't necessarily fit with how I play games like typically like I don't do a ton of jumping back into stuff after I've been away and I thought that animal crossing would be the game that would like really ingratiate me into time events but I haven't picked it up in weeks in the museum. If anything was going to get me back into it it would have been the museum events but I you know I I think at this point is well. I had my time with it. I I enjoyed it and now onto other stuff but I don't necessarily disagree with the idea. The pair there's definitely some kind of pressure or some sort of like a gamers anxiety around getting all of those specific items or or things in that timeframe like when when march was ending in people are trying to catch who dump fisherman were crossing. There was one fish sealer camp. No not the different fish anyway. The everybody on my mind was like I've been fishing for four hours. I've spent hundred fifty strengthening. That is still haven't caught the string fish and it was getting to the point where people are like just event ends in three hours. And I don't have a string fish. What am I going to do that? I also commiserate with that in that I don't want to have to the Cherry blossoms actually was the problem where people you know. The people fell lake. There was a task list of things that you needed to accomplish. But they couldn't because the recipes were released over time rights catching the cherry blossom petals and seeing other people craft things but not being able to them themselves so they was a little bit of that anxiety with it but I think it depends on. What kind of Gamer you are? I I have no problem. That didn't get the Cherry blossom fan or something in time. You can come back next year. You can time travel this year. You Yeah I think steph completion EST thing right like please just need to have all that stuff in the time frame and I've never been that so I used to be that man. I used to be that so hard with games. Where anytime a seasonal would come out. I would need to hit every single thing the when I was really really into Hurston Art Stone. I came out I was like I need to get every single card back that they release every single time they release new card back and then there was a car. You could only get one a tournament in China or something like that and I was like. Oh while okay fair you know that feeling with Bebo and those special monster Hunter Amoeba right or like the Lebow Joy Khan and stuff like that and I think part of me sort of just like gave our like and I think I'm better for it where I was just like okay you know. I don't need absolutely everyone of those things. But I tell who sympathized with the people that are like that. Because I've been there and it's it's a really like suffocating feeling especially in the case of like the Cherry blossom thing where it's like you are playing every day but now he's you still not getting everything

"I haven't slept not since my boss Block Bibo the long forgotten social network was the first to produce its own. TV style show show. It was quietly revolutionary. Today's social media giants Tau billions of dollars into producing TV series and films as a way to lure and keep keep users K.. Modern was important because it allowed Bebo to strike deals with the guys at the biggest budgets television advertisers. We show them what we had. And we said this this is the medium that you guys are familiar with. It just happens to be the lured on the Internet and that changed everything. I do think it was really powerful in some ways I also yes. I think it was a complete failure. People didn't actually want to watch it and it was really important is succeeded so we kind of falls upon users at the time creating and publishing a TV show for an audience on the web helped set bebo apart it showed the world what was possible in this brave new world of social media. We would certainly the largest website site overall in Ireland New Zealand and for one month we overtook Google in the UK is the largest website and I thought this is amazing. This this is GonNa be such big news. Is like an English guy for the first time ever built allergies website in the UK. No one gave a pardon. My French gave. AP's ship this episode. We're going to pick up where we left off last time. We introduced to Michael Birch british-american couple who started dreaming up websites. And a little. It'll richmond flat in the late. Nineteen Ninety s the came to California to seek their fortune and amazingly. They found there were many web tycoons viral era marketeers who had a couple of small but very profitable successes but they wanted more friendster had started revolution. FACEBOOK was changing the way that people kept in contact and my space was changing how people express their creativity online social networking was taking off and the birches wanted a piece of the action enter Bebo little. Did they know it but their lives and the lives of teenagers all over the world were about to be flipped upside. Hi Down. I'm Danny Fortson West Coast correspondent for the Sunday Times and this is episode three tales of Silicon Valley and the finale really of our story of the Bibo billions stick around Jim. Steinman was an early early employees at friendster. The original social network. He was one of the first people who tried it after its founder Jonathan. Abrams came up with the idea he was in trance. Dance with how easily connected people. It was a quintessential big idea but two years in the wheels were coming off. Friendster may have created social networking working. But it was ravaged by technical issues users. Were starting to leave and mass a merry go round of CEO's each tried and failed to fix it. Schoneman was given the job. Go find a rival to buy. That is when he first met a teenage Mark Zuckerberg. The company that was very interesting. House was also facebook facebook. So I you know we flew out and he's really smart and very special founder. He had a much bigger vision. Frankly would he turned down the offer from from the friendster board board. I went and had lunch with them. And so you know. How do you turn out in such a lucrative offer? You know you just starting out you know you're eighteen. I'm just wondering what you're doing. He said we. We're a much bigger vision. We're going to connect the world. While would I sell to friendster. I'M GONNA put you guys out of business watching all of this unfold and having learned a few lessons from their previous projects Ringo. Oh and birthday alarm. The birches wanted another go at one of their first ideas a self updating address book it was kind of the first idea we have a hat and we thought it would be really all what at the time. When it wasn't the challenge was going back to Alva- I var idea and then applying all knowledge? We'd gathered since then working from their attic in San Francisco. Michael spent a couple of weeks coating the first iteration of Bebo. They should on January twelfth. Two thousand five the day after so cheese birthday and I remember remember yelling at him saying Michael. Nobody's GonNa Care What Day this is lodged lunch at tomorrow. She was right when they launched. Ringo social networking was in its earliest days. By the time Bebo went live the world had changed dramatically. Social networking was growing into something that even if it didn't have proven business model was clearly going to be substantial seven months. After Bibo launched newscorp Mother Company of the Sunday Times paid five hundred eighty million dollars to acquire my space looking back at the coverage of the deal is like opening a time capsule and not just because much was made of how one of the most popular either bands in the world. The black eyed peas remember them used my space to stream its new music. The New York Times referred to it as quote a youth oriented music doc and social networking site. The social networking bit wasn't quotes because the very term social networking so new. It was around then that the facebook dropped the the from. Its name Zuckerberg raised a big new round of funding from Silicon Valley's finest valued his little upstart at nearly ninety ninety million dollars. The Harvard dropout was getting ready to make newscorp feel very bad about the deal had just made for my space birch felt the pressure is well we will always in catch up mode. Having seen the rise and fall of friendster up-close Schoneman the executive who tried to buy facebook from an unknown Zuckerberg. Berg was looking for a new job he knew the purchase from their ringo days and thought he might be able to help them avoid the same pitfalls schoneman became employee. The number one at Bebo and I thought that was a compliment for them. You know had already been through this at the largest social network. I'd seen all the mistakes friendster Don. The virtuous moved headquarters from their Attic to a garage in the mission district. And you'd roll up the garage door and actually pulling my car because I drive in the garage garage but we have like four desks inside this garage. On one side there was an auto paint bodyshop so one day you know you never know what's GonNa be the fumes when they had paint fumes the other day it'd be the pot dispensary on on the other side. Maybe that's maybe one of the reasons why be vote was such a creative we by far the most creative be bows beginnings were. We're humble my space with the positioning. We were trying to do. We wanted to have more self expression than facebook but we didn't will kind of GEO CDs look of my space like we wanted to do with have little elegance and not to be the complete wild west of craziness that my space was the purchase creation took off especially Salihi for some reason in Singapore. We launched an after nine days. We added a million members to it from nine days on the Ninth Day without three hundred and fifty thousand members on that one day and one hundred thousand of them were from Singapore. What's up with that? I don't know so. I looked up Singapore. So what a tiny country. I didn't quite realize how tiny the population world so we've added like a meaningful percentage of the country one Hyundai and then we thought who cares about Singapore so we blocked the reblock idea dresses and we thought well we WANNA go in English speaking countries so we basically blocked all IP addresses that were growing in countries that we didn't wanNA focus on for what it's worth. I looked it up. Hundred thousand people is two percent of the entire population of Singapore who all joined a Single Day Bibo racked up users but just like with Ringo engagement was tiny people signed up and then forgot got about it vessel Anne. Ten of people even enter their address. So you've now got address which are in. ESPN percent of your contacts in it and none of them every day so it was more all the photos non-self updating so updating address so the birches holed up in their garage filled with pot and paint fumes started trying different different gimmicks to improve the site. We built a quiz. How well do you know me? Most people would say. How do I know you? But if you know me I'd fill out got my ten question quiz and sent to all my friends on Bebo and not on Bebo and that would bring in millions of people right like little ideas and we had hundreds of these in many of it didn't work but that's the beauty of a small team right. You know. Michael Never got the credit. He should've but he was like the wizard of viral marketing. He understood that better than anybody else. The little ideas started paying off so then we added photo sharing which people start using. That must've been big. No no that was popular. Yeah and then we thought it adding profiles and then we added comments and we just developed into a full social network as Bebo grew. The birches were slow to bring on staff for for a long time. Michael did the coating for the website himself. I was the only one that could fix the website when he went down the happiness of teenagers around the world. And you're in in your laptop. Exactly yeah it'd be a lot of upset people bebo scrappy. And they realized that they would have to take a different tack from their better-funded competitor's their answer was to effectively ignore America. You have to remember that in two thousand five. Steve Jobs is still two years away from unveiling the Iphone I phone the smartest smartphone around was the blackberry. People still mostly access the Internet over their desktop or laptops. It was harder to be global. Ideas didn't spread as fast startups were much more prone to focus on their local markets. Here's Leslie Berlin. The Silicon Valley historian. You've heard from before it used to be the you had to go to a special room to get on the internet or you had to go to your office list to get on the Internet. I've tried to explain to my kids that the reason that cyber Monday is called Cyber Monday is that people didn't used to be able to Get to computers until they went into their offices on a Monday aside from ignoring America the birches made one other critical choice. Yes we were going after high school by the way. No one had done that before. Friendster Really Post College. Facebook went to college. We're like what about high school as the added photo. Sharing profiles comment and other features. People's popularity exploded as the the amount of time that people were spending on the site we succeeded. We ended up. Being the highest is engagement metrics of any social network in Britain Ireland Australia New Zealand people became the social networking site. Michael began building engineering team in San Francisco but it was in the UK where they needed to beef up because that is where audience.

"The ringo sale was in Silicon Valley parlance birches. I exit but it rankled them because they felt like they had no choice but to sell and they had no choice because they had no money which is where birthday alarm comes in their birthday reminder service for Michael and so cheap it was the key to pretty much everything that happened thereafter really everything. The idea was simple. Most people only know the birthdays of their immediate family. And a couple close friends if you assigned birthday alarm it would ask you if you wanted to email your friends to ask their birthdays. The site would then send out an automated message asking for their email addresses on your behalf saying something like i WanNa be reminded of your birthday. Can you tell me the date. It was an easy ask. Lots of people said yes. It does what it says on the Tin Right so descends on tin. It does to you would say on every friend that said yes would get the same prompt that you had asked me. If they wanted to know their friends birthdays and on and on it went the business. This is called viral growth. An idea or product that spreads person to person contact like a virus as opposed posed relying on flashy and expensive marketing campaigns. Birthday alarm was growing but in two thousand and three exploded. When Michael came up with an address book importer any social media APP with salt these days requests access to your contacts but back then importing someone's entire address book was pretty new and an astounding running number of people simply agreed handing over not just the contents of their little black books but their email passwords birch coated it over the weekend? I'll let him him explain what happened next at went live. I think Sunday night. Twenty four hours later with added one hundred thousand new members in one day. We'll go from ten one thousand two hundred thousand and then I go for that week. It climbed a little bit. And then we're adding one hundred fifty thousand a day out of that function work you just Someone the the time is hot. Matignon this note before g mail but certainly before Jima was anything big would also halt mouthy mouth and hoping I'll password and then we you would behind the scenes. Logging has them like we fake browser session fairly logging Azam scraping their contacts display all their contacts on on our website to them and say. Do you select which passwords. They would be a little bit surprised storm. We're Nice we didn't do anything wrong. They had with them. But we certainly could have wanted to. Yeah and then. That's like the friends that you wanted to invite. We didn't invite them. The ones we selected with an invite them and so people at that point inviting hundred people on average from hotmail in Yahoo and we just assume the hot man y'all who would work out that this one Ip ps server was hitting them thousands of times a day different account details and they would just like block the idea there so we were super excited that we were now going a hundred and fifty thousand member day thinking the next day or stop and it never did ever going on so we added a thing over forty million members in one year to our website which was crazy. Keep in mind. These are still very early days of the web. The days have Google and facebook building empires based on granular personal data. Were still a distant possibility. Google was still private and facebook. Not even a glimmer Marin teenage mark Zuckerberg's I- birthday alarm however was growing like a weed. But it wasn't making them any money until they started charging people to send electronic greeting greeting cards when they received birthday reminders. The floodgates opened almost overnight. The birches were bringing in millions when we started charging for greeting reading calls. We went from ten thousand a month to ten thousand a day so we made three hundred thousand a month and that continued so we ended up peaking peaking around four and a half million a year with just the two of us working from an office. And I think it's relevant is that we had been self funded until then we took a reverse mortgage on our flat in Richmond and we were basically living off of our flat and just like that way back in two thousand three. The birches had come up but not one but two very profitable viral websites. Suddenly they were living large. They left Walnut Creek and bought a house near Alamo Square a hilltop park in San Francisco that sits across from the painted ladies. The multicolored houses made famous by the Sitcom full. House is actually very good life. We we could've gone on like that for years but Michael decided not to you see for all their success. Neither birthday alarm. Norinko held a candle to friendster. Abrams had raised a bunch of money from Silicon Valley's top venture capitalists little. A website was national news. Social networking was officially a thing but cracks. Already appearing the friendster edifice. The site was buggy. Pages would take forever to load. Abrahams was shunted aside or replaced by a new CEO who was replaced by another CEO. Who was replaced by another CEO? Uh friendster star was fading which lets opening an opening for a new rival called Bebo. You know Michael Never got the credit that he should have but he was like the wizard of viral marketing. He understood that better than anybody else before today like today. We have growth hackers Enviro marketing experts. But when when it wasn't even a term term of art in a in a career he was the best at that I had a vision of Michael wearing. I talked about it like I said. Let's put a wizard hat on you and the wizard robe and you're on the front of Forbes Front Sunday Times like that needs to happen next week. On Tales of Silicon Valley people starts from the birches bedroom and goes global it becomes the top website website and countries all over the English speaking world before it all comes crashing down. "You know, watch the video again this morning of that incident. And I don't blame vivo at all they need to keep Bebo big part of the tradition. How about not having people hover around Bebo is closely as they were when we saw that. I got a corral. Well in this case. There was nothing. I mean, it was just like a bunch of people standing round and in a couple of the silver Spurs standing there. Just trying to you know wonder if they just up to ketamine up the tranquilizers and just kind of make him a little loosey-goosey, and he'll just kind of a little bit more of the cough medicine. More heavy fine. Safe, right? Exactly, exactly. Just keep them lit. And it'll be good. But this is a tradition. You you just can't come on. I mean that would be a sad day. And you know, everything about this tradition. You're a longtime Austin nights. You know, all the details about bebop. Oh, I don't. We're going to test your trivia do about vivo. There's a segue. Okay. What was the first year that vivo was actually introduced the year the year? No way there's got to be multiple choice. You can't on I'll give you multiple choice. Multiple guests nineteen fifteen nineteen sixteen nineteen twenty two. I'm going to say nineteen twenty two. You are wrong in his nineteen sixteen. Biba was not the first mascot. Do you know the first mascot for the university of Texas, the very first mascot? This is pre nineteen sixteen before vivo name the first mascot for the university of multiple choice. Every time I do this to you. I gave it to you. I give you multiple choice. All right. Every time said the Lama, okay? Presilla the boa constrictor are pit bull named pig. You know, I'm going to have to go with my gut and say it's a pit bull named pay. You're absolutely correct. Really first mascot was a pit bull and American bull terrier named pig. I have never ever heard that who here's another question. Multiple choice. You know, everything about vivo and UT history because you're a longtime Austin who owns who owns vivo. Actually, it would be a rancher. I'm sure that actually owns Bebo. I don't know who what is supposed to know his name again multiple choice. What what what what was John and Benny Baker? They on beaver and this is number fifteen by the way. Fifteenth vivo, John and Betty Baker. And they they keep VO there at the sunrise ranch there in liberty hill right there on twenty nine how about that..

"Spend eight hundred fifty million dollars in cash on this aquisition. So how did it turn out? Not great at all. Now, you could argue that Bebo was on the same path of decline that ALL was as a as broadband was becoming more popular. Ails. Dial up was dwindling. The Bibo was seeing its number of users dwindle all of them are going to other social networking sites. Like Facebook AOL was not able to capitalize on Bebo like executives had hoped. So just two years after buying the company AOL would sell it to a digital media investor group called criterion capital partners. And the price was much lower than the eight hundred fifty million dollars that AOL had paid for it. They sold it for ten million three years after that the original founders of Bebo Ray able to buy back their company from this investor group for just one million dollars. So they sold it for eight hundred and fifty million. And then they bought it back for one million. Now, that's all a bit outside the scope of ALL. But I thought it was an interesting little tidbit. So I decided to include it, plus it's another way to illustrate how AOL was still making some pretty questionable choices that the merger with Time Warner wasn't an outlier. It was an outlier in the sense of how big it was one hundred sixty billion dollars is an enormous outlier, but not an outlier in the sense of making some rash decisions that ultimately didn't pay off. Now. That's also not to say that every purchase AOL made was inherently bad AOL bought lots of companies, dozens of them in fact companies like weblogs Inc that owns popular sites like in gadget and the former joystick there was game daily that ael L purchased a true VO all of those made products or services that face. The public will also bought companies like eve, always invo- interactive..

So you'll I think you'll figure that out the content the community connecting people, and I think it's it's got to be an important part of of your organization. So I'm glad you're doing it. From the beginning. I wish I had done that from the beginning. I felt like I was ten years too late on that. That's what happens when you have good luck brother area appreciative of the model. You could look if an easy reflection point to try to mimic some of the the good things. Thank you. Good luck. Man. Take you good luck. Thank you. I think it's probably I think he's made a really important point. And again, trying to make this from my audience like, you know, I always talk about like watch. What I do not what I say. Like when you watch something you can take if you deploy multiple layers. If you watch what I do not what I say, if you deploy self awareness that know who you are you can look at a model, and then you can decide what you can and can't do in that model, and then you can start hacking a lot of people can't be on planes seventy one hundred days a year. Right. It's just not in their energy levels things that nature, but when you can see a framework you can start chipping away making your own by the way, that's what you did from because you have so many tech friends, and so many tech founders even recurring revenue streams gets into lexicon. That was talking to people who I was talking to. Anyway, it's about a fight about recurring revenue like it was because he was helping pay on a guy, but he was hoping to pay for the overhead for six years. So I think that was the community of people that we put ourselves in. I mean, charity water. Was not hanging out with other nonprofits, we were. We were reading fast company. We were reading wired. We were hanging out with people who are innovating and trying to learn from them and ask those those questions when didn't you understand that that was the next class like you dug very deep into our world, very fast like what what made that happen. But of Michael Birch is started with that transformative million dollar gifts eleven years ago feeble right after he still Bebo, and it's funny. I just had. I had dinner in San Francisco. This week in Mercer Mayer was telling the story about meeting me eleven years ago. Someone had set her. Charity water early like, crappy office Phoenix. Hello, well, positive. Hanks Felix Felix Felix. It's Gary finished with your on the ask area be show. Can you do be one favor? I'm going to let Scott finish this Mercer Mayer story. And then we're gonna ask you a question. So US US how I got into it. So it was it was Michael Birch. She gets introduced to me walks in the office. I'm doing my thing on the laptop clicking through all the photos. I just come back from Liberia. She sponsors a couple water projects and says, hey, you need to be Ted sponsor you. So she sponsors me at Ted. This is back in Monterey, California. I go someone at the bar that night said, hey, this guy named Chris Sokha. That's there. He's really important for you. I believe can you get him. If you can get him to care about your thing. You know, that will open up a lot of great connections. He was a Google then. So I had the PSA that we'd made with Jennifer Connelly and her kids directed by hotel Rwanda's, Terry. George ahead it on ipod touch walk up. The Sokha tap him on the back and ask him to put headphones on at the bar at Ted and wash my PSA. And I think he just did. So he watches this thing for sixty seconds. The next thing I know he's trying to get Ted to play. It makes you introduced to YouTube next thing, we know. We have the homepage of YouTube back men to debut, the PSA tens of millions of us. Right. We leverage that to get a million dollar spot on American idol to run the sixty second PSA. This all happens from clicking on a laptop with the right person to the next place to the next place. I mean, I can draw the web of connections, and you know, sock has been to the fields twice..

Nintendo announced amoeba support for Diablo. Oh, that's right. You give them a great game. Endorphin. Diablo two. Yeah, just popped out an amoeba and then like some named dude comes out. Oh, that's interesting. Fucking cool. The way to get loot. Let's see questions from Abe. I have a couple of friends who are teachers in elementary and middle school, and they were talking about how kids talk these days. One of the things kids liked call each other as an insult is default. Jeez. When I asked what this meant, they said it was because fortnight where everyone starts with a random default skin is used by both boys and girls and everyone uses it for example. Yeah, that teacher is so default or don't talk to that kid. He's default fucking savage. So my question is, did you guys ever experienced language influence from video games growing up in school? Really not so much like mainstream enough at that point. I, I spoke with children while I was out of state what not in this state didn't take him over state lines. Okay. And I found kids that that actively disliked fortnight. Wow. What? Okay kids? Yeah, world over there. What are they. More into halo really, really thirteen fourteen four? Nine like whatever. Yeah. Feel like halo would be an old man's game to the kids at this point and I would I was expecting and then a someone who is closer to ten, very big on the road blocks, a lot of roadblocks chatter. Is there any advice you can give me to help in these negotiations?.

It's one of my favorite parts of fight club Sylla's with me today. Bibo Russell ladies and gentlemen, Bebo Russell, can I clap is at the microphones pick pick up clapping? Oh yes. We'll be quite a spike in the in the ears, the audience. I want to go into this at the top of the show, and I'm completely aware that sponsors will be pushed again, but this this is important. Bebo Russell did it. He did the goddamn thing. If you don't have to be will Russell is look up. He is the the man. The. Yeah, mechanic. Would you calm an engineer? I don't. Yeah. He's a mechanic Macaire. Somebody words come to mind. Yeah, stole plane at Seattle, Tacoma airports and put on his Cape and he flew flew and he decided this is it. I'm gonna go ahead and steal this plane flights, and then try to attempt to do tricks, mid air. A commercial airliner. I wanna. So here's why the story meant so much to me. Sure. First of all, we weren't even supposed to be doing show today. You're -sposed to be not pregnant anymore, but I still in Asia due dates and we have. Loan past that. So just like, all right, great. The fact that you're even doing shows amazing, but you're that. I don't think the baby's coming out. Well, I don't. Yeah, that's basically is. I'm just like, well, whatever is it that crazy that I'm doing a show? I'm not running a marathon. Oh, you're so we're waiting on the baby daily Watan expect to be doing show you'd be going to sleep pretty early rightfully so obviously you're exhausted carrying full term baby and not coming out. You Lear live. She's he's going to be like ten pound by the time that baby comes, he'll walk right out of the Gina. Yep. Yep, yes. So you've been going to sleep early. I wanna keep you up. So I go out to the living room throwing a little preseason football and Lifan through Twitter. Trying to find this running back stats, potential eight round fantasy pick for me, who knows maybe and then I see hashtag seatac trending, right? Number one. And I'm like, what the fuck is this? What? Seatac. Right. I thought maybe it was the Seattle Seahawks game. Something of that. And then it was like no Seattle's coma, Washington, the ninth busiest airport in the United States. A man has stolen a commercial. Blaine. So, and I like, no, I probably breeze through fifty sixty people of reporting this. I don't believe it at the time I don't. I'm just like there's no way most most of the accounts were coming from people on the plane who were stuck on the runway and their live tweeting what they're seeing. And I'm like, man, there's no way there's got to. This can't be. It's got gotta be a better explanation than this, then a guy post, hey, man, here's the radio channel like where you can tap into the tower, the flight tower, which is the best thing of this story that your role to do that. Yeah. So I go from reading these people's accounts to the live feed of this, and I caught it right at the exact moment like perfect moment where you're like, oh, man, I wish I was alive or listening to this or awake or whatever it was. And I was. Was. And so I put the TV on your sleeping popped open the iphone and just played the live feed from the tower, the control tower to be Bo Russell whose has stolen this jet at this point and is in the air. So he's up. He's not trying to get up. He is physically in the air. There is no explanation yet of how he is able to fly a plane, but there is an explanation that he definitely doesn't. That came out of Bebo mouth himself right while is in the air, starts off with an apology to his friends and family. And I feel like maybe we should play a little bit of it if we could cut him the audio, that'd be greats feel like we'll cut it in right here, but then so I tell you what listen to this audio first and then we'll, this is just a little bit of it, but this is the essence. That's why. Donna..
