Facebook Misinformation Posts Get Six Times More Engagement Than Genuine News

"Article came out this weekend. Friday night was long ran a lot going on this weekend before the labor day holiday was really tired. So i'm out trying to enjoy some black in salmon. One of my favorite things to eat went my wife and my daughter talk and i'm good time couple. People came over to say hello and this article someone sends it to me. Goes look this zero to washington post. The zeros nasal lisbeth d-wash. Watkin dwoskin out. I don't care but she this article. The washington post missing for the washington post talking about misinformation is one of the most intentionally. I think they have to be joking. Like this has to be a pitch at the washington post writing about misinformation. So this is the dwoskin whoa shkin. She says misinformation on facebook six times more clicks than factual news during the twenty twenty election. Study says right-leaning pages also produce more misinformation the forthcoming study fat notice. She cites no examples in this piece of misinformation whatsoever because elizabeth too stupid to do journalism. So we did the journalism for her. But here's the piece of. She mentioned me. This is classic. Dogmatic study about right wing for the washington post which is hilarious. She cites news guard guard. She doesn't even do the homework herself. She says no they set it. It was like she does the beavis and butthead other kids. She doesn't do any research herself. She says he's groups have categorized thousands of facebook. "To share with Beavis and Butt head. Okay, why are we living in? Well, I was gonna talk about share. But I don't really like it. He share songs. Besides that, you know, Sheriff Beavis and Butthead. Why not? Why not? Why? Why? Sharing the news? Oh, Sher says If she had been there, she could have saved George Floyd. And some people react to that. Like what? What would you have done? Kind of an unfortunate and really ignorant thing to say? Yeah. What kind of white Knight Bologna. Is that? What would you I could have personally said Why would she have been? Their share is not backing down. Some people were offended that she made this claim. I mean, like some liberal people were offended. Like Oh, what would you have done, White lady, I'll tell you what she would have done. Share would have started singing the national anthem and that American loving police officer being the patriot that he surely is would have stood up, huh? When the national anthem because last thing you wanna do is be caught kneeling during the national anthem, and when he rose with his pride for the American What do you think? That's funny? I think it's a genius idea. But what if he's still overdose to die? Because well, now, I didn't say it was to save his life. I just said she would have thought getting his knee off of that boy's neck would have done it, but I don't think that would have done it right. The 74 year old singer first tweeted out, she says was talking with mom. And she said, I watched the trial. The policeman who killed George Boyd and cried, Sher says. I said, Mom, I know this is going to sound crazy, but I kept thinking. Maybe if I've been there, I could have helped. Well, there were people on the scene who did try to help. Uh, the police don't like it when citizens generally speaking, they don't like it when citizens rush in to try to assist either them or the guy that they're fighting, so people started reacting to this even people that are sympathetic to George flight and Generally tend to like Sher said It sounded like she was having a white savior complex. It is some of the white privilege to share double down, she says. I've wrestled with this. To be honest, because I thought some people wouldn't understand or believe an entertainer could have an honest emotion about a human being suffering and dying. Even if it's only shown on TV. You don't know what I've done who I am or what I believe I can I have, I will help and she a lot of capital letters there and punctual. Yeah, she's at that age where they like to do all caps. I have some friends, the couple that just all cap all the time when they text and they think for some reason. That that was a good idea. Yeah. And how did this share idea of helping others turn into something all about share while share is on Twitter and like most liberal, affluent celebrities, if you'd even call her in a lister, she once was not even She has a lot of followers. And when something happens in the news for some people, Summers and people really want to know what share has to say. And I'm you know, Share thinks you want to know what share has exactly Now. Here's one thing I will give share credit. For most people like share. Um Bette Midler, For example. Other affluent liberal celebrities who think people want their opinion have blocked me on Twitter. But share has not been well, That's nice, so I still get to troll her to be the share is totally unaware of your existence. Well, yeah, probably. That's hurtful. I think it might be possible. She just doesn't She's not good enough A Twitter to read the replies. Also because I'm most of these celebrities don't operate the page themselves, right? Because I have dumped on share plenty of times and gotten a lot of retweets out of it. You know, usually then that's when they notice you When you're getting a lot of attention in the comments I share knows that Donald Trump retweets you well, you know if she did know that she'd probably blocked me. Probably. Unfortunately, you know, Trump got kicked off social media, which is sad, though. He'd be retweeting you today? Probably. Yeah, I wish that he would. I wish Trump would come back to Twitter. Twitter's been kind of boring since old Trump left, but thank God we still have you on musk. Well, he's still busy. Yeah, you line Musk is still on the platform. That's one guy. They haven't taken his tweets down yet. Fortunately, Ellen must make Twitter fun. But Twitter was awesome with Trump. Now it's just kind of it's like when you're at a party and the funniest guy leaves and everybody else that the party is like If I leave next, I'm gonna look like I'm just leaving cause so and so last. Like, How long do I have to stay before I could leave without appearing to be ruined? The second funniest guy at the party is really not that funny, but he's trying extra hard now that that guy left and it's just fallen flat. By the way, we got an update on the police officer. We were just talking about it the capital. Apparently did not die from a knife wielding maniac. The policeman died from the car being crushed between the car driven by the perp and the concrete barrier, which he was trying to ram. Yeah, that's what I thought as well, It's just awful. I didn't think that there was a knife involved, but I didn't want to correct. You were not correct you all the time, but I'm nicer than you. I'm just a nice guy, You know, by the way, a shout out to aboard wine up in Temple. Doing muscle slept late this morning because he did not hear us give a shout out. 22 Baylor bears Go. Baylor Bears love your show if you hadn't already what about a shout out for the bad told him this already done, But we could do it again because the national championship is tonight. Now that don't start till they say, eight o'clock central time. So that's really more like 8 20 by the time they get through all the preliminaries and stuff, so You know, around midnight or so if you want to watch it all the way through to the end, And then the celebration after you're gonna be up late, Dwayne, and we expect you to sleep late tomorrow morning as well. Monday doesn't seem like a good night for a championship to me. Yeah, I don't know. They started doing this a long time ago to get you know the Ratings. I got full about the prime time viewership and all that. Do I have to care? No. Okay. Don't let TV be the monster in your living room. Let.

As sea levels rise, water creeps up beneath peoples feet

"As the climate warms coastal waters rising. Not only along the shore but beneath people's feet the storms in the waves and sea level rise are going to affect the surface water. I and the ground waters going to follow. That's kevin beefs assistant professor in the department of geosciences at the university of arkansas in fayetteville he studies the impact of sea level rise on groundwater the water that stored beneath the earth's surface beef is says that as sees rise more salt water seeps inland that creates pressure on existing groundwater and pushes it upward as it rises that water can creep into subway tunnels and basements and damage underground electrical lines because it saturates the earth it can worsen tidal and storm flooding so beavis says as coastal communities plan to address climate change they need to think about more than surface flooding they also need to think about the effects of sea level rise on groundwater these are hidden dangers of sea level. Rise that i think for the most part on people's mind and so the surface flooding is the primary concern and it will be the most in our face but this groundwater response something that could happen behind us if we're always looking out to see.

"You said ever since Beavis and **** head it was anybody who had been watching Beavis and **** head was suddenly a pyro maniac epic theme that brings back so many memories remember the the video game the Beavis and **** head video game was a big deal can you imagine the Beavis and **** head of video game combining the two worst things I must've been a pyro and I was I live about two minutes fire so but I never I don't blame Beavis and **** head you see well I went home yes with is this morning my mom called and said I play I play video games and I was a kid and I mean it's never been a thought I don't even have a gun like I've never had or owned ever so like it's never been a thought even get one like so when the guy called initially and blame the video games like I was playing GTA crashing in a fire hydrants I don't do that on every you were doing that during the show you're playing it in there while you're producing the show it's yeah I believe I know it's a straight out so I can do a lot of things at once unbelievable crazy but so what my brain doesn't understand and it's okay because I wasn't raised this way I wasn't raised with guns in my life guns in my house a gun in my hand I've shot a guard I shot a gun when I was a kid we went to Vegas I wasn't I wasn't legal in New York where I'm from so you can own one until I just recently it's interesting that really interesting the obsession people have with their guns you know why do you have two thousand rounds right for safety for peace of mind why do you need two steps to get your gun from your bad and and nothing against William it's it's again it is peace of mind for William right but my question is if everybody thinks this way how bad are people and I don't think Williams about person I don't think any of our listeners are terrible people but in the back of my head I sit there and go are you guys doing that bad of things in life where you're afraid somebody is going to come into your home and try to kill you in six seconds I mean six seconds to me is like that's premeditated maybe it wasn't maybe it was just random the guy was coming in ready to go but like six seconds is like you did this guide dirty and he knew exactly what he wanted to do so why do you need a gun axe it got access so incredibly quickly why do so many people have this obsession with don't take might win my gun I need to that you know twelve thousand rounds I need to have access to a gun in one or two steps in case somebody breaks in how many times has this actually happened you know knock on what I'm so thankful that you know we we've we've we have security we have the highest and security because I I pay for peace of mind that is what I do I pay for myself to be able to sleep a little better at night and thankfully nobody I've known has ever had a a big break in I actually that's not true my cousin dead but the point is is that we take all of the steps and the only difference between security is security in the form of alarms and contacting police yes granted that's not going to do much if somebody comes up with the god get it but it's not it the security system I have doesn't cause violence and the gun you have on your bad side does but again we're talking to different things we're talking about you know I I kind of almost frowned upon William saying he carries a loaded gun and he even apologized because I'm sure that something in his life he's been scorned for you keep a loaded gun with kids in the home but to Williams other point as his kids no you don't touch dad's gun at all and he must really know that they understand that rule so the education is incredibly key here so now we have to go into the mass shootings mass shootings more than just video games more than just an accidental found a gun and decided to play with that so yesterday I said I wanted to find research supporting the profiling of the mass shooters and here's what I found couple of US studies have been done on a couple of different ones that coincided with one another there's no single profile of a mass shooter so you're not going to sit here and go on mass shooters eat lucky charms or cereal for breakfast there's just different types of mass shooters and it ranges get a from a school shooter to college shooter to a public shooter but they all you know the the profile is a little different you know white male thirties not many women are really profiled here I don't think any woman has been in the mainstream media that I can recall but here's what I found they all have this in common in a research study done of mass shootings of mom for more people since nineteen sixty six they all are using up I'm sorry we start over they all are using legally obtained firearms I am a set illegally but they're all legal firearms any firearm that it's stolen it's stolen from somebody who obtained it legally who's a family member all right to a family member had a gun that is a majority of them automatic weapons are semi automatic weapons history of childhood or adult trauma driven by family or school work environment was consistent throughout the majority being of childhood trauma but there's also a loop Dan are from a couple of these some work shootings some sort of trauma happened to where you just could not take it anymore the ones that happen from kids when they were younger is more of that mental illness which Jenny in the chat says it's all psychological and I do think that plays a huge role however there's that another study that says two thirds of the people who have conducted a mass shooting had some sort of mental illness but it's typically typically not a driving factor due to the fact that fifty percent of Americans experience some sort of mental illness at some point in their lives so what they're saying and I don't necessarily agree with this is that because so many people have experienced some sort of mental illness that they have to deal with having two thirds of them have mental illnesses it's not as big of a number because a majority of people already have mental illness at some point so I don't necessarily agree with that because I think there's different levels of mental illness and I believe there are certain traumas that happen to people that really mess them up so I think yes you can say fifty percent of people have suffered like I suffer depression in college for a year and I bring that up to my wife and she's like she laughs at the minimal anxiety that I went through because you know she she deals with something more on a daily basis that's a little more anxiety drive in and you know and she's she's I mean she's a rock star he's great with it but she deals with the different kind that I dealt with in my college years when new my friends didn't call me back I mean it's two completely different things so there's many different levels of what mental illness is and the extreme cases triggered by possibly video games possibly being hit as a kid I think there's a blended cocktail of things that happen to a person that allows them to carry out any sort of unattributed violence with a gun gonna finish taking the rest your calls stay on the line eight four four two two zero zero nine.

We try to convince the people of the museum that it was worth it to have space for Latinos and they gave us fifteen square meters. which accounts for one hundred and fifty square feet? Maurice Gabriela Varroa is president of the Latin Recording Academy an offshoot of the Grammy Organization but also says when they began pitching the idea of Latin music space at the museum they had to focus on two things. First Education we are. We are tangled. We are SAMBA. We are personal. We are Ranchera so they said well. It's very easy for you to say but we don't know how to do Louis. Hope I retained on behalf of the Latin Recording Academy experts in every field and they came and they put their best. So when you go there you have all genders there about. Oh assess for nine years. They kept complaining about the one hundred and fifty square feet. They had been allocated until one day he asked I. What else can we do? They said we'll we need contributions so he says Oh. Let's contribute so. We begin being much more cooperative with the museum. undecisive guys. Why don't we do something nicer for you? Assess for the past year and a half. Latin Recording Academy has been helping the Grammy Museum create the Latin Music the gallery they went from one hundred fifty two six thousand square feet so the difference is huge humongous. It is also true that the presence presence of Latin music in America has grown is being more noticed but they also found that most of the apple these to the museum are Latin. Descent are Hispanics who come to the museum. So if the Magic Work Iwo Lavonia they live. Well I think that music brings us all together and now with our renovations were able to tell a lot more stories and a lot. Bigger stories about are about the impact of music. So it's very important. Michael Stich is president of the Grammy Museum. And this is Kind of museum two point zero if you will. So we're actually taking a lot a lot of time and energy and a big investment two million dollar investment. We've made on the third floor to really start. Expanding the storytelling of Latin Music Day Nagara Exhibit zibute highlights the Latin Grammy Awards from the past twenty years including more than thirty songs on rotation heard on a sound system in every room on display. "And welcome to another episode of the Trivia with Buds podcast. I'm your host Ryan Buds. And you'll get a double dose of buzzed brothers today because my brother Scott wrote all all the questions. You're going to answer today's episode. We have a round on Beavis and butthead. The classic show from MTV created by Mike Judge who also the creative stuff like office space idiosyncrasy and Silicon Valley. So if you like those shows if you like Beavis and butthead you're in the right place this'll be a quick one. We just have eleven. I haven't questions for you and you can play along however you see fit you can write down the answers you can check your scores. You can yell out the answers you can pause it and play along with a partner on on a road trip. which is what I hear a lot of people like to do? Somebody told me that they binged like three four hours worth of the show and another listener just wrote me and said Hey I can only hear the last three hundred episodes or so on the apple. PODCASTS APP is there any way to find the old episodes and you can always find all the episodes with no pay wall of any kind at Ed Trivia with Buds Dot Libson dot com or rather lipson dot com libson dot trivia with buds dot com. What it is? Libson DOT TRIVIA WITH BUDS DOT DOT COM. That's what it is and that is like my host. I use Libson L. I. B. S. Y. An for all my hosting and everything's on there and you can find it in the show notes to every episode but you can search any topic in the search bar on that page and there are certain other podcast listening APPs stuff stitcher and Google play. I don't know what they limit their episode episode. Total to but apple. PODCASTS does limit it to three hundred of the last episode the last three hundred episodes really so since we do the show every day. That only brings you back about a year. But the show's been around for almost three years. So you can go back a little bit further and find all kinds of cool stuff to listen to all the way from two thousand seventeen or so and again just just if you if there's something you're looking forward just you can always Google search to you. Can Google Search Trivia with buds Mardi mic fly and you find a nice back to the future episode. But if you're looking for something specific that would be the best way to do it and if you just want more episodes in general try a different podcast APP. I know that's a pain in the butt. If you always listen to everything apple but that's it's just my quick work around because they limit it to three hundred so I did want to share that Info had a real fun day yesterday. Doing a bunch of Disney steph over a Disneyland with my kids kids for our birthdays in November. We're there from nine. Am To ten thirty PM. The longest I've been at Disney in quite some time got to walk around galaxies edge which was very very cool. My quick review of galaxies edge would be that there was not a ton of stuff to do. But there's lots of stuff to look at and it looks awesome and pictures are great but but there's not a ton of like activities and things to do they're just a couple of restaurants and One ride which was fun but not one of my favorite rides at Disneyland. So that's my quick review but the the whole experience at Disneyland was fantastic. We had a great time. We did California adventure. We did Disneyland. And we used to be season park pass holders but then we're paying off all that debt so we have not gone in over a year since the kids last birthdays. So this was a fun fun time but that is why there are two episodes going up today. I missed putting it went up yesterday. Did Not prepare as advanced as I should have so. If you're looking for more trivia today get ready for an abso later on star wars movies. So if you like star Star Wars movies and you're watching them all and Disney plus this might be a fun episode for you coming up in just a few hours all right. "Gathered with your loved ones or knowing your loved ones as you listen to this. I'm on Christmas Eve, I like the idea that someone's listening to this while their family is in the other ring together. Yeah. Yeah. And you're just here. Listen poll if and Scutt. Swoops ground. A little dip elite item. Let me see if I can do polling might. That Beavis Viva. You're right anybody. I get those doing. You're right. I was doing this. On O'neil fire. Fire fire canola liked fight for my bunghole. He liked teepee for his bunk. He liked fire until it was suddenly unsafe for him to like fire, then he liked fire. No longer the the Beavis story. Was there an episode where he didn't stop like fire. Now, I just think they had to phase that aspect out of his personality, perhaps as someone set fire after watching the cartoon, how would they know like they say like how was this a little kid? I think it was a little kid first of all. Fire is something that mankind needs in order to survive, we need it. So eat it. It's one of the elements. It's an instructional video in order to teach man how to make fire. What if what if Beavis have been like wind wind? That would have been safe would have set up some sort of hydro-electric wind turbine or by the time. They're doing that arc would be water. They'll get caught you know what? I mean. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Terrible tragedy. I don't know. Whatever happens you that that person, but not for you..

"I heard this week about a beaver deceiver when you want to introduce beavis to an area and you don't want them to flood the area you have a way of tapping the wilshire off but the beavers don't block it because i don't stay but nonetheless can accommodate the beavers and have the benefits of the beavers without them actually flooding you out of house and hi matt yes i wanted to ask you about invisible animals so if marine animal is invisible that just means the photons are passing straight through it then blind because capture any jeez vision this is actually what i did my phd thesis on or is an aspect of it a lot of crustacean larvae for instance like mantis shrimp larvae use transparency as a way to disguise themselves in the open ocean because otherwise they'd get eaten very readily however they want to see because they're little predators themselves and as you are you're hinting at you cannot actually see without having some sort of opaque screening pigment within your i'd isolate each photoreceptor from one another because otherwise you'll muddle all of the pixels of the image that you're generating and so what they have evolved a lot of crustacean larvae but i studied the mantis shrimp is this really beautiful material that unfortunately i published under the name of ice shine i would rather rename it as i glider because it is this beautiful blue green glittery material that is over the surface of this black part of their i that reflects the wavelengths that are behind them perfectly it is a perfect match and so they have this reflective camouflage strategy to enhance their invisibility in the open ocean because you can't have a truly transparent i thank you very much.
