"Louisiana had been under french control until seventeen sixty two and it still had a large population of french speakers. Although by the time most of the acadian started arriving there it had become spanish territory. Most acadians arrived in louisiana between seventeen sixty five and seventeen eighty five that included about sixteen hundred people who arrived from france after being deported to france so while the there were some people that like made their way through the continental. Us to get to louisiana award of people had traveled across oceans. First beau soleil and his family eventually arrived in louisiana and they are welcomed as heroes there today. The cajun ethnic group includes people who were descended from the acadians as well as people from other immigrant groups who assimilated with the cajun's in and around louisiana after arriving there the acadian population of canada's. Maritime provinces in northern maine didn't start to approach its pre removal levels until the eighteen thirties and forties. The idea of acadian as an ethnic identity really started to coalesce around this time when more acadians entering politics to represent acadian interests and in eighteen forty seven poet. henry wadsworth longfellow introduced the acadian deportation so a lot of the rest of the english speaking world who did not already know about it through his long poem evangeline. This poem was incredibly popular. Also spread the awareness of this beyond the english speaking world as it was translated into at least thirteen different languages within about a decade of its first being published. There are also multiple fully illustrated editions of this poem. Although in general they were illustrated by people who had never been to acadia and they didn't really know what it looks. Like or pal acadians had historically dressed. They sort of created an image of acadia. That was not really like that. Evangeline tells the story of two lovers separated by the deportation. It is very romanticized. And as you probably guessed from tracy describing the visual depictions it was also not in terms of wording particularly historically accurate. But it did really established the idea of the acadians were in the popular consciousness in places that had not been directly involved it was also adapted into plays in films including the nineteen thirteen canadian film. Evangeline which is cited as canada's first feature length film. There are also multiple monuments to the acadian deportation that incorporate a statue of the character of of angeline and streets squares and other landmarks are made for her during the acadian. Expulsion acadians face discrimination and persecution and hardship really regardless of where they were taken and that really continued..

"Cavernous but this wonderful Simple to sort of Chandelier but you're also welcomed in by not this this cavernous lobby but fresh flowers. Purples and remember the last one was purples and blues and pinks which were just so wonderful on again very. There's something to me very inviting about that space and again if you turn the corner and you go to the cafe. You can get a mediterranean margarita. Spread full jin spritz. I know intern before we get to the dining. Because obviously dining is is. Is there anything else on your list in terms of a reason to stay. You know what i for me. I the next one's up deaf. Well all right. This isn't quite dining but it's close. Which will lead you into dining. How about that. Because it's a bar. I know i can't help it but it's the bar that's into opaline owes but it's not so much the bar itself. It's the big terrace that's outdoors at the top of the tower. Where you get your beverage at the bar and you walk out onto the terrace and you have a seat and you have this beautiful view. All around you of the caribbean beach resort in front of you. You can see some of the fireworks often distance again another space that you can just sit back and relax and have your cocktail. If you're me At night i got back from the parks and Just went up grabbed a drink at the bar. Went up to the Outside on the terrace and had a seat and just kind of soaked in the view is the Is the fireworks going off. So that is a way to cap off night Of a busy day in the parks with a cocktail in hand and nice relaxing atmosphere. Before you go to bed. Parents i apologize. I get agree with me right now. Listeners sometimes you need a cocktail after a day. But i actually did have the. I called out the views foreign. Oh bar i call it the views specifically as a reason because not just from topa lena's terrace but from depending on where you're guestroom is remember. Every room has a balcony. And if you come back to the resort at night you have views potentially of the nighttime spectacular at epcot and magic kingdom and disney's hollywood studios so if you have one of those tower studios room though they will face epcot if you are at toppling terrace you can see epcot N views of magic kingdom has walls hollywood studios if he goes to the dependent again where you are if you're on the terrace. You can see the hollywood studios nighttime spectaculars as well but even notwithstanding the fireworks. One of my favorite photos that i've ever taken at walt disney world is from topalli knows terrace at sunset. There's this amazing reflection of the sun over the water the skyline and the building as the. There's this wonderful set of orange and blue hues as the light from the pool and the light from the lagoon. Sort of rise up. It's the views are gorgeous and the outside seating area there especially as you know in in those two or three weeks that we get a fall and winter here in florida absolutely spectacular and at some point when things come around there will be an a small outdoor bar outside. So you can becky. You don't even move very far. Somebody can bring your drinks the bar outside on the terrace itself. And that's the plan. Now the next time i go back this is what. I'm thinking about gothic. Look there have got to grab a beverage from the bar and go out and look at those views. I hadn't seen that picture that you're talking about. We might want to ask them on jolo on instagram. Yes i took so just very quickly as because we didn't talk about which is on my list and then we'll touch on the dining without making this a to our dining review i believe the activities and amenities are also attractors too. I think rivera. Is that when you pay to stay there. You should stay there. It's not just a place to rest your head at night and take a shower hopefully in the morning before you go to the park. But there's a lot of different outdoor activities again. This is meant to feel like a mediterranean resort. So when you go outside the when you go down the lobby steps and go outside into that courtyard there's lawn chester's connect for there's there snooker. There's a botchy court garment replaying botchy with my parents as a kid. The main pool has this beautiful winding pool. Slide around this gorgeous sort of european style column. there's also the beau soleil pool. Which is the quiet pool. That has a nice little spa and a hot tub and again end part of the reason. Why i'm bringing this up is because this resort is very much geared towards adults that want to go and have a romantic weekend as well as families that want to go and stay play together so the cbo play play area has this as a lot of the resorts have were have added these water play areas for kids forty inches and under so i meet the height requirement. Not requirement but. There's this gorgeous european-inspired gazebo. There's fantasia cow characters. There and they're seating areas of adults want to go and just relax in the shade. They can do that as well. So there's a lot of stuff to do at the resort itself. Which i think is very much one of the reasons to not to sleep there but literally to stay there. Yeah and if you're don't don't kill me for saying this if you're a runner too they do have one of the running trails throughout the property to so there is something for everybody there. You don't have to go to a park. You can enjoy all the amenities and the things to do just in that immediate area. I think they've done a fantastic job of offering something for everybody so the the the ozone delicious elephant in the room and very much a reason to not just stay but to visit riviera is going to be the dining and there's you know not four but five different because i'm include something. That's not necessarily a restaurant. There's five different potential don experiences out. I'm just gonna go through these very quickly. And we kind touch on the high points so bar riva is the resort's poolside bar and they will actually serve. They actually serve a lot of the same dishes that you'll find at primo piaggio. Which is this wonderfully casual.

"Wass ex Watson knew the Cielo drive house on Benson do what it Wass and he was told It was a symbolic thing to send them out to this famous Famous residents and create the carnage and the habits that was created. Is fascinating. The rumor that we had heard in addition to the Terry Melcher story was that that Manson had gone to the house after Terry left and, ah, someone related to take Maybe a photographer. Something told him you've got to leave by the back alley. And that gave my motive saying, you know what will get you? Was there anything based on that? What? There was a certain truth to that Well actually happened, Wass. That when Terry Melcher didn't come across that Charlie Manson to get a contract recording contract, which he had mentioned in his mind. Imagine that that happened. He wanted to get hold of Melcher and say, Hey, you know, I want to. I want to find out what's going on with this field that you promised me so he actually went to the house to confront Melcher when he got to the house. Sharon tape was at the house, and so was Sharon Tate, photographer friend. I forget the guy's name, but he was there as well, A mention pain to the house and the front. But he went where Terry Melcher and the problem is that I don't know. Why don't you go and talk to Rudi Outer belly now? Rudy Altobelli was A minor league figure in this, but he goes in the house and he lived in the guesthouse. And Charlie knew who welcome Valerie Wass. You with a hot Hollywood agent show as Charley was leaving the house. At photographer said Don't come into the main house, go to the guest house and kind of Gonna shank him aside while the disrespectfully according to mention on that was the only time that supposedly that Charlie bits of Sharon Tate, who happened to come outside, and Saito, a photographer. Who's that guy? He said. I don't know, but I send him. I send into the guest house to talk to Rudi. That was the brief encounter. If you want to call it that Manson had with Sharon Tate was the only one. I think I can think of anyone who believed that actually happened. Now just before those murders, which were certainly on every newscast in every city, probably worldwide, but was the lesser known Gary Hinman murder in Topanga Canyon. And what was the connection? It was the connection and I believe the reason that mansion actually said them out was not to start a race war. But but about before 10 days before the murder of Sharon Tate and her friends and J C bring an order people that were living at the house with Sharon. 10 days before Charlie Manson's fence, said Robert Beau Soleil, Amboseli with a musician, Another member of his plan, If you like to go and get some money from Gary Hinman at his Topanga Canyon House And Bo Chalet showed up. "The offerings of regional Mexican food in the greater L. A area is staggering even during these weird times, and yet Afro Mexican food hasn't been represented. Until now. That is Food Journalist Bill Esparza is here to tell us the story behind tamales. Elena Bill, It has been way too long. How are you? Yes, it has, I'm create and it's great to be back and ah, during this these strange times. So strange. So let's jump in. What is Afro Mexican food. Is there a specific region that we're talking about? Yes, the well, you know, after Mexican communities have been around for a long time, they were some of the earliest. Free communities for ah, slaves that were freed and also escaped slaves in Mexico and primarily in Vera Cruz. Lacosta chica in Guerrero and also and that adjoining region and Oaxaca or kind of cross that the line the state line between Garrido in Oaxaca, you have actually Afro Mexican towns. Really? Yeah, that's fascinating. What are some of the names of the towns do you know? Offhand, no, like where Melissa Lena is from. They don't even called. It's just a bar. It's like a sandbar, and they call La Barra. And so when I asked her where she's from and Lacosta cheek, other from Lombardia and right there in Watts, lots of the Pamela Rose. The vendors that have been there since the nineties are all from the Costa chica, and they're all after Mexican and most of them have the same name Lorenzo, which is like Smith over there and and their community. So interesting. So when you say you went to Melissa Laina in what form was she selling? Well, they were just selling tamales for the community. Was she doing this? Like off a Carter? Would she set up a table? A push cart, You know, shopping, a shopping cart. What is your name? Maria Elena Lauren. So So I understand that since your daughters have grown up, they have acquired some hospitality experience. Yes. What This is one of the most amazing parts is all of the women in the family are working either front of house back of house. Judith, who Actually was working with John Sedler right about the time right before Rivera closed and she had moved up on his hotline, which was really you know something because she had originally she was brought there just to do the those famous tortillas floor Alice that chef John Sadler used to Dio. And so she's the most. I guess. In the chef world, the most accomplished of the sisters. And you should see the place I did. I did. I went by to look at it. And there's some pictures and in my article on eater, Ella, and they've really done an amazing job. I mean, it looks like a cute little Place, you know, So what we're talking about is that this woman with the help of her daughter's has opened or is about to open a brick and mortar. That's correct. Just the idea that there is someone engaged with that. Brick and mortar who made those Tortillas for Alice. Is just something for me. That was like one of my all time favorite foods in L. A. It was an amazing dish and amazing there. So so let's talk about what they're going to be offering. What is on the menu. What is specifically regional from Lacosta chica. And maybe what else they're making. Yes, they're going to continue to do tamales. But they're not going to do the economical families that they saw their truck which are really for the community. So you know about feeding people, but they're going to offer They're banana leaf tamales, which I've done special orders for over the years, which are just amazing. The tradition the after malice in that part of Mexico, just like in Oaxaca is, you know banana leaf? And her flavors have always been there. Her flavors have always been from her hometown using chilli Costain. You everything has chili Costain, you and Marie Elena some cuisine because that's the chile that they use most and whether what are the properties of Chile, Costinha that we would be able to recognize this separate from others? In addition to the color, it also has a little bit more heat and it's super fruity. What is the color? It's red. It's a dried red chili. They used the red one in Oaxaca. They used the yellow for making Moloch Mario, It's ah Milds spiciness. You know her food is a little hotter, but it's not hot. I mean, you know this. This conception that Mexican cuisines are are spicy. They're not We condiment but are the regular cooking is with more mild to medium dry chilis. And so this just has a little bit more more heat than you're gonna find in like the wahey, eoe and other like the chili Call Colorado, which are more for color and flavor rather than heat. And then Molly. She's going to be serving a mole, a dish that's you could only find in people's homes and in the Watts area, which is her Monteverde with And tamales. Nikos are unfilled tamales that are cooked with ash, so they're kind of dark. That's why they're called hosts and those air used to eat the Molly. And really, Until now, you could only if you went to a family's home and after Mexican family In South Los Angeles. You could have Monteverde condom, Alice, Nikos, But now you can get it in their restaurant. And the most exciting thing is that they're finally gonna be serving their poor soul. Every day, which is something that I you know, I'd have to call them and find out when they were going to make it next before, But Guerrero is known for its soul. It's the best possible estate but specifically because of Afro Mexican cooks. That makes the Apostle e very day. The green one, the white one. And they're also going to offer red Pozzuoli and they're making a vegan L, a poor soul, which is made with fresh corn, corn. That's not next analyzed. So they're making something for vegans, which is very much an aspect of that that hospitality. Experience that the daughters are bringing, reaching out to two vegans as well. They must have been planning this for a really long time and then the pandemic hits so obviously they'll be doing just take out until they're able to do interior dining. Well, they have a drive through. They have a drive thru? It's the on ly drive through post Sola Cosa Lady on the United States. Probably right, So, yeah, it's a cute little spot. You know, it's it's really designed for the times. It hardly has any seating inside. It's got a little patio area, which they can use right now. Ah, and it has a drive here, so yes, you can get drive through tamale goes and Afro Mexican cuisine. And that's like made for the times and in which neighborhood what we find tamales. Elena Bell Guardians. The drive through is is ready. You can get their food to go to malice and Beau Soleil are great food items to go. And, yes, It's you know, for people who are not used to this in Mexican culture. We eat soup hot soup in hot weather. We're the only culture I think that thinks you have to have ice to cool yourself down, right. Thank you so much Bill. It's been wonderful having you back, especially to share such a unique eating experience. Thank.

"Patchy fog will burn off to sunny skies today will also see gusty winds in the mountains and desert coast, up to 74. Today, Inland 85 the mountain 79 desserts up to 1 10 right now Downtown. We are cloudy and 69 Kogo news time is 6 11 So next month, it will be 51 years since the Manson family went on a two night murder rampage in Los Angeles. But do we know the whole story? Well, joining us on the cocoa News Live line is director and executive producer of Helter Skelter and American Myth. A new docuseries on Epix. Lesley Chilcott. Good Morning, Leslie. Good morning. So we've heard and read countless stories about the Manson family. In fact, we've interviewed authors on this show before. How is the information that you uncovered new or different? We have read and seen a lot, haven't we? Over the years, I think a lot of people will find it surprising that there's never been You know, a film or television show or documentary? I told the entire story of the Manson family. I think it's I think no one will ever know all of the exact details, but I think no one's really had the time to tell the entire narrative. There's so many twists and turns. And I think you know as time goes by people are willing to talk more. And there's there's knew There were new things to tell. And so that's why we wanted to do this. All right. So what new things? I just? I mean, just maybe not All of the examples, obviously, but one We have someone which which you'll have to tune in to see. But we do have a family member that has, you know, never been on camera before that that Charlie met. Late that summer before these horrible murders, and there's some new things that she has to say there's a couple other family members that tell new stories and, um Those two main ones, but also I spent a lot of time interviewing people. You know, on some of the shows, you know, as you can imagine, you get your half hour. You're 10 minutes, but I interviewed people from multiple days over multiple period and was able to connect a lot of different dots. We also have Bobby both away who calls from prison. Man who narrates the unfortunate murder of Gary Hinman and expresses his remorse and tell us exactly what happened. There's been, you know, multiple Theories on what happened to Gary Hinman, and he tells us what actually happened. Well, yeah. Gary Hinman was the first victim. I guess that that we know of. And isn't that the case where they they got in his house. They basically tortured him, though I think they cut off his ear on DH will see that and that that is one of the theories. Absolutely. And then there's no question, but he, you know, murdered Gary Hinman. He admits it. He wants to atone. For it. You know, there's no mystery or conspiracy there but various books and even thinks people said in court at the time, you know, because they didn't want to be convicted. They would say that they killed him because they thought he had come into some inheritance or various reasons. And Mr Beau Soleil actually narrates the reasons and His ear was cut, but it was cut by Charlie Manson. And it was not cut off. That seems like a minor detail because the poor gentleman was killed for absolutely no reason. And that was horrific. But a lot of the details get you know there's a lot of factors to the story that people kind of can't resist. Um, you know, miss information gets out there. I think the puzzle pieces don't always fit. None of the crimes had had motivations, proper motivation, And it remains a mystery for people, especially people that live here in L. A Why? You know some some kids that you may have gone to high school with just a year two at a high school were part of these horrible and tragic murders. And I think that's one of the reasons you know there's been a lot of tabloid Ask coverage. So we kind of looked at the moral seriousness. Excuse me moral seriousness, Um, underneath the spectacle, if you will. This's isn't. I mean, it's called Helter Skelter and American myth, but it's not in any way absolving these peoples of the crime, is it No, That's not there. Many nets. I think the the bureau it be able to, you know, chairman for themselves, but one of them is simply that. Charles Manson was a brilliant mastermind criminal and that it was this was all planned out step by step because he wanted to bring about a way for you When really he was a small time con artist. Should any of Manson's followers get out of prison? They've been granted parole, several of them and the Pearl then rescinded by the by several governors. That's a really good question. And I know people have extremely strong opinions on this issue. If you look at, you know, they all admit to doing these terrible crimes. Some of them have been more model prisoners than others. But after 50 years you have to look at a lot of these people were teenagers are in their early twenties. It's absolutely horrible for the victims and their families. And and it's still hard today because the case is so famous. But if you think of that person, perhaps, as you know, a sister or a son or a daughter A lot of people who have committed similar crimes or worse crimes have been let out of prison at this point. So you wonder if the famous nous of the crime is working against them. On the flip side, you would say they committed murder. They deserve it. What if someone Mike Leslie Manhattan, for example, who was 19 at the time has been a model prisoner, and we don't let someone like that out. She had a different court case. Later, she was sent in seven years to life. If you look at the rubric, she met every step. If we don't let someone like that out, then I think we're kind of saying as a system that people are beyond redemption and want to go to prison. That's it, And I think that can lead to some wrongheaded thinking. Lesley Chilcott, Helter Skelter and Rickon Myth premieres on Epix July 26th and thank you for taking the time this morning. Thank you for the great questions. All right. Here's the stories Trending in San Diego..

"Diane snake lake member of the family is the book and before we go back to the Spahn ranch thing I just want to touch on that mellow yellow part I thought that was so funny that you at one point you in your your girlfriend's Jan and Joan try to get high with bananas yeah well if you will Donovan that made that yeah those dollars in but they're supposedly scraping inside of a banana peel and then you what smoke then what was the deal thank you greatly implies a banana as I recall yeah you know on a cookie sheet there's a menu you know flake dead or whatever you smoked it you are exposed to get high yeah this is funny after I read that part of the book I remember hearing somebody do when I was like in middle school somebody tried to do that but they didn't drive the banana so they couldn't even get it lit I think they missed a whole part of that recipe so the Spahn ranch part of the movie and once upon a time in Hollywood is really just uses who's really creepy was it was it reminded me a lot of of like a really good Twilight Zone episode or something it was just it was a it was so much atmosphere and at night I was so you've confirmed that in fact it you would have had that effect when people you just kind of came out when there was a visitor at the ranch you all kind of came out in congregated and you were saying that the the spawn the house where George Spahn who owned the ranch lived was not up so high there weren't that many steps was it was it was it is dingy and gross as it is in the movie you know it was it was pretty dilapidated but I mean you know like in the movie they show you know a rat caught in that trap in the squealing yeah yeah so it's really filthy dirty yeah and I'm sure that how people think we live but we didn't I mean I think that we improved George's lot you know I think we improved the condition of his house I mean I remember cleaning as refrigerator right you're a bit of a neat freak which I admired about you that you said that when you would get high on acid you actually did stuff like cleaning right now you know it's still let me see the thing is the cleanliness thanks it's funny though but so you and you you said did you know that house needed a woman's touch am I right in I mean I know you slept you say use veal took turns sleeping next to him did you also sleep with him George the old man I I I did take my turn you know like I think we took turns I don't know if you know we we did intercourse of maybe the intercourse with him but I I took my turn giving him head right well yeah so this is the this is the frankness of the story as I had alluded to that there was but that part was a little vague and I was sort of surprised and I don't want to dwell on it but it was interesting because it it didn't it the this idea of all the orgies and all of the stuff that's not a myth it really that was what life was like according to your account inside the Manson family it's not exaggerated it doesn't seem it sounded like it was your new normal right we we you know we kind of did you know regularly I I don't know I don't think it was weekly we took acid pretty much weekly we smoked pot you know daily and you know we may be dead the orgy Lovin thing you know every other week yeah maybe every every week occasionally but it works on it what you know wasn't a constant thing and then Charlie orchestrated that you know he he passed out the tabs of acid like with the sacraments and then you know he kind of start taking off his neighbors sure and then one thing on the record it was everybody took off the next person sure didn't you know I mean it you know I did that I mean also I can describe it is the way I experienced no no I think that I don't remember it being like this total why old you know fever pitch or do you know right he I don't remember it that way but that put me people might view it differently so it but you also at this time when you were so enamored of him and you work fully under his spell you had also already experienced his wrath he had he had hit you I'm he had it you I think a couple of times by the time you got to the Spahn ranch and if you didn't like that but you were like everybody else you're sort of condition to to try to make Charlie happy end so you were very mood conscious I thought that was a very interesting that you lot of your day perhaps much like a lot of abusers would relate to was spent trying to gauge the mood of their but the person that was abusing them so you you had some clues and you I read an account that somebody else had said that you were the most hit person in the family but I don't know that I had heard you say that in the book do you agree with that assessment you know it is starting to come out that he hit a lot of the girls but not publicly so I think that you know if he can use it as a tool I don't feel like he totally took out like his anger fury on it was more disciplinary but in a kind of twisted way right I mean this is how people right this is exactly in that I mean I remember I you know he'd get slapped me when we were like in New Mexico because like you know I I actually just want you know Hey you know you need some food or you know and he was had a toothache or something and he just you know I spoke out of turn or whatever and and got slapped and then but it's not like he beat me and then the then the next episode I remember you know the extension cord I remember like winking at me you know like you know yeah I I'm doing I make in this example of field you know go go with that kind of thing so every time there was you know in my mind you know he had mitigated it wasn't just you know I I wasn't the recipient of you know on controlled rage and fury there was a reason for it and so I think that's why I accepted that well it's not it's not okay no in India its not okay and I and I and I know that now but this is my perspective then I you know I I try to go back to where I was then and and you have both sides using your father hit your mom so in a lot of ways it already was a pattern that probably just did already in your mind is being a little bit is acceptable in some way and and sorry would you know he will a shot him as he was based on you know women are supposed to submit to the husband thing is he so much for new thinking he's so yeah so but in a way falling out of favor with Charles Manson really save your life yes explain how your your life your entire future pivots on the fact that you're eat your he's mad at you or he's ostracizing you a little bit right I mean I was able to stay in the desert and I didn't I came back with Bobby both play and Charlie was very ill and the whole energy and the whole kind of the the main thrust that was going on the family at that time was totally different than I had ever seen previous he was really in areas really trying to gather supplies you know convert Volkswagen Beetle them to do but he is the vehicle indeed in dune buggies he had incorporated the straight satans which is like a motorcycle gang out of P. me valley into our family you know and they provided guns and knives and and mechanical services to convert these vehicle since it didn't buggies and it's just you know with like this frenetic energy to try though they weren't doing good and you know he was he I remember he hold hello my fingers and other people's fingers over flames the candle is like too conditional to not feel pain and it was just in and I from the time I left the desert with Bobby I felt like of kind of like a salmon swimming upstream but not on but I was going no I was going in the wrong direction his eyes rocks the trees everything was calling out to me that I'd made a mistake and when I got to the Gresham street which I didn't know anything about Gresham street because I thought we were going to go to Spahn ranch in Gresham street with you know like a mile or two from Spahn ranch in Canoga park and he was just furious with me I'm taking you back to your parents going to find your parents on taking back your parents and he did find them and he did take me back there and at that point I been literally too long heard too many of those songs that's all I had going on in my head and I just felt again rejected a my parents were now my mom had not re married but you know she and my dad would definitely separated them you know she was with another man and they were like boarding parents for an alternative high school so they had all these other kids my same age basically living with them and I just I just felt crazy I mean I wanted to jump on the roof of the house I'm up on the roof of the house when you out old Charley's talk you know about living in a garbage dump and all and I mean it was I just felt crazy I mean I really felt crazy your programs yeah I was and so I I went back to Charlie because but I did sense that I felt comfortable but you know I mean I felt at in juxtaposition to to being in a like a more normal you know society whatever I just felt crazy and so I went back to Charlie and then he took me days Gary Hinman and I live with Kerry him in for a week or so and and then I got Gary Hinman to take me back to the Spahn ranch and the family really didn't live there anymore I think I think when that was still taken care George in the main house but the back how you know with another commune that is kind of moved in so the crazy it was a crazy time and eventually apparently Charlie took me back but I was never part of the like inner circle I was just kind of like hanging on you know to the friend you know taking care of babies doing you know doing housekeeping cleaning or whatever but and the other girls were going on these creepy crawly missions and it was just a weird it wave this everything was weird enough I've had my head screwed on you know I would have right out of there I did so the it is the tragedy of Bobby beau soleil will we probably won't have time for but it job and even you know that all the names you mentioned are familiar to people that know that story and know that era let let me ask you about you so you weren't included in any way you weren't even discussed you don't have to get out of any of those creepy crawly things where they committed the horrible crimes at at add to the the the Tate mansion to the Polanski mansion or or it at the la Bianca house you weren't involved with that did you when did you suspect that murder was part of the Manson family agenda when did you start to feel like there's a much darker side to this it might my fears are unfounded it wasn't until we were at I'd woke up one morning to Leslie burning.

"No. He's talking about. There's another guy who's in prison right now. And he was serving he was supposed to be in there for life, but listen to this. So he's part of the Manson family the Charles Manson family. He's seventy one years old name is Robert beau Soleil, and he wasn't involved in the killings of Sharon Tate, and the others by the Manson family nights at sixty nine. But he was convicted in the slaying of musician. Gary hinman the same year. What's what these the the man's affiliate? All these musician a lot of musicians to hang around while he thought of himself as a museum. Yeah. I mean, this Beausoleil too. I guess, but they were all kind of like they were they were a failed musicians, but really good killers. So you got to be good at something. They just went into the wrong career, right? By should've been a hired hitman. Yeah. So anyway, so this fall back career didn't work out. Real good plan b. What's great? He was convicted in the slaying of musician. Gary him in the same year as the the Sharon Tate murders. But here's the Hindu was tortured for three days, according to testimony at previous hearings, including when Manson cut his face with a sword. Sort has weird. Yeah. Anyway, the parole panels ruled against releasing Beausoleil eighteen prior times. But supposedly now they're thinking that okay? He's served fifty years. Almost fifty years is seventy one. So the incoming governor Gavin Newsom could block the parole in coming months, but chancellor he may not turned out governor Jerry Brown's consistently stopped, releasing his followers Manson's followers. But they're saying that there is the parole board saying that we don't see any reason why he shouldn't be released. But someone's gotta step in. There you kill at this guy out. You killed somebody for I what do you while, you know, he's he's more compassionate. Now your change, man. He's very thoughtful as inciteful. The only thing that's missing. From this statement from his lawyer is he's bored. Again, there's usually that in there. The only thing missing. From the statement is he has the desire to torture someone several days before right disposing of them. Here's the thing, though, if a guy's been imprisoned for fifty years, he's just chomping at the bit to torture and kill somebody. He hasn't been able to do it for fifty years Jones. From eating pizza for two years. The first thing I'm gonna do is go out and get some pizza. So here's the thing though. Gary Henman's cousin K hinman Marley, Lieutenant Thursdays. Parole. Hearing said Beausoleil was already lucky wants his death sentence in nineteen seventy was reduced to life in prison by appeals court. So he's supposed to get the death penalty originally, which I would have given them, of course. But he got life imprisonment. Now, they're considering letting them out I think the only reason is because maybe he can go out and make some more some of that good music that the Manson families to make.

The last time they played which was a good, you know, they held under two hundred yards one hundred ninety eight yards. It'd be a tar game. "With calf would calf grant. Thomas Clancy three. We some sponsor stuff with like, say, mobile. He was around also. And then next thing was rather lingered. The coach of sky kept telling me about him kept on saying he was, he could win to actually move member. He was with a bottle, but that was after eight minutes mobile. Then he went to the world this out African team on that. Alice had a good contact. Rod l. ING would the coast and he said he could win the two fouls. One day seems like yours progress on a sing with a friend. Thomas, he had breezing like Brad weakens your notice him. Look like the lead singer of Arctic monkeys doesn't he, you know, like, so he got a trace of that, but we all love, I'm what do you think about the way he's written his tour. I just love it. I just loved to seem his by his look so good on the by Siegel. He looked like it on at like ten years before he loot lie into rain who got everything under control of costs. We know his inside he must be boiling, but he looked like erasing on the control, whatever you say about sky, the just have a good team, Ian Boswell, Katiba opposite ever trailer them. Yeah, quite a bit. And did a lot of training together did some barbecues at the team house and beau Soleil, just outside Monaco then to his house for maybe it's his birthday or something, but he's really just an easy going guy. And I think that's part of the reason why he's not why he's doing so well here, but he didn't come in here with a lot of pressure like maybe from had anything if from doesn't win. It's kind of a failure. Gee, everyday has, and yellow is like a bonus, you know? So he's he's writing on kind of this euphoric high of positivity and kinda just rolling with it and he's a proven talent. You know, he's obviously older to kind of be a first time, grand tour contender. I think everything in its career is kinda led to it and you know, he's a well rounded rider. And I think as the cycling podcast, say he luck falls on his side tends to have a lot of unfortunate crashes, but he's, yeah, sailed through twenty while eighteen days. Now with these in your training with them racing with them, being teammate, her good writer. Did you think he was? He's just a natural writer on the bike. You know, he just comfortable. A lot of the British writers track background. They're really smooth on the bike. You look at his development coming from the track kind of being a classic sky, and then into a a g c writer, you know, he has like a pretty diverse background of racing and big skill set. And I think just having that knowledge from, you know. So even something like the team pursuit, you You know, know. he knows how to pace himself and it's just a matter of, you know, for him, he would probably test losing some weight and kind of concentrating on the training takes for for grand tour, which I think has been probably his biggest struggle, but also his biggest attribution to reaching this level is just his process of learning what it takes. And you know, in training and weight management ride a grandma, Stephen deal sports director, track afraid of what can you remember?.
