Sports on the Sidelines
"Has been postponed that was march eleventh when an announcer called off the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz game. Just before tip off. Most of US remember that day it was the day. President trump announced the travel restrictions from Europe. The day Tom Hanks and read a Wilson said they had tested positive for Kovic nineteen and the day the NBA suspended the rest of the season after Rudy. Gobert the Utah Jazz Center head tested positive for the virus. You may remember go bare as the player who touched all the microphones at a Utah Jazz media event as a prank. He didn't know he was positive at the time and later apologized for it. I'm a huge basketball fan myself so I was crushed when I heard the news of the NBA suspension. But of course public health comes first to me that really was the watershed moment in the entire. Corona Virus Cova nineteen conversation and not just sports but in our culture. Christine Brennan has been covering sports for three decades. She says she hasn't seen anything like this in her entire career. I think it woke the nation and the world frankly up to the significance and the seriousness of the corona virus pandemic after the NBA suspended season. It was like a domino effect. Major league soccer in the NHL have suspended their seasons for now while Major League. Baseball is hoping to open season in May according to ESPN and the NCWA cancelled it spring and winter championships as a wolverine go blue. I love March madness. It's one of my favorite times of the year. I even had tickets to the final four this year so I was really disappointed when that didn't happen but the threat to our health and safety was too great and it wasn't just the safety of the fans it was for the safety of the athletes to eleven thousand. Olympians expected to compete in Tokyo. This summer had their plans. Put on. Hold the Twenty Twenty Summer Games now postponed until twenty twenty one. The Games have been canceled three times before. But this is the first time they've been postponed and of course even a date. That far ahead doesn't come without concerns. Christine Brennan told me well we in the summer of two thousand twenty one. We'll people feel comfortable. Flying on planes overseas will the Japanese fans feel comfortable being in big stadiums and the answer is over and over experts. I've talked to. We have no idea. We just do not know but by that point of course a lot of these. Olympic athletes will have lost months and months of training. I just don't think we know yet and I think that uncertainty is so difficult for athletes. Consider that Olympic athlete. Their whole lives for this one moment. I was hardly know just as we train for for almost a year to two years. Just make the Olympic team. That's odd the beater Amman. An Olympic distance runner twenty twenty was the fifth time he's qualified at forty three. He's also the oldest American to run the marathon in the Olympics. You know before before the device you have a goal does the one thing you have like road races coming up you. Have you have something to get ready for this time? Everything's on the air. I just training just to stay fit and the sports world isn't just waiting on the sidelines. In the midst of the Pandemic Major League Baseball is now participating in a nationwide Corona Virus Antibody Study League employees spouses and players volunteered to participate to help give a better understanding of how prevalent this virus really is so I go is not to get an obese specifically back to work go in our research is really to get a bit of understanding of what the true prevalence looks like across the nation. I spoke with Daniel Lichner. The president and lab director of the Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory. They were great pot down in a great organization because the head nationwide coverage that we could access individuals that were I seem to matic regular part of the general population. You know from team owners all the way down to hotdog vendors and be sales people on Game Day and everything in between you're looking at the MLB it sounds like sort of a microcosm then of the country Representing different demographics of our country. Can Can you talk me through how it was administered? Then in how quickly then did they get results? Some people could do drive-thru program where they have a bunch of their technicians. Physicians trainers and the Individuals with the drive through. Stick their finger out the window get fingerprint can get the result literally in a matter of minutes and it seems like most people would fundamentally want to know. Then am I now essentially immune can I get infected again? I think which too soon to say what that immunity looks like now. The federal government is slowly making plans to reopen the country. As I said earlier president trump has asked major league sports commissioners to be apart of that conversation the commissioners have a tough job. They're weighing a lot of things. In making the decision of how in win to get back to work commissioners work for the owners and their league and and the owners are going to want to start playing. They're going to want to start making money again. They're not liking the losses the financial losses that they're taking of course no one is the commissioners also have to weigh the very significant health risks. Not just for the players and their families and the referees and the coaches and the TV people and the and the media people But also the fans in the stands. And if you're drawing people into a stadium and if it becomes a corona virus hotspot and all of a sudden explodes. That is the fear of every commissioner in every sport you open up too soon you bring people together and all of a sudden you have another corona virus bomb sports says we know it may not be the same for a long time the NFL draft. Which starts tonight. We'll be held. Virtually for the first time as was the WNBA draft last week. The League plans to start its regular season in September and the draft helped set that into motion. Here's NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in an interview with ESPN. Obviously it's a different year for all of us. We had to make modifications in our offseason program We've had to make significant changes to our draft And those are all appropriate and their right to do. And we you know part of what this is about is continued to work from home by-product from home continue to do things we're supposed to do and be prepared. There's also the possibility that spectator less sports will become the new normal Christine Brennan predicts that will happen at the PGA men's golf tournament when it comes back in June and the masters in November. We could see an a masters without spectators. And that's GonNa look very strange to a lot of people. Although my prediction here is that within a couple of days of watching some of these sports events. If you watch a baseball game without spectators day is not gonNA look a strange the next day and by the third or the fourth day. You're going to be totally used and you're just going to be happy. You're watching baseball again. I think sports is walking a very fine line. It's kind of a tight rope. We want sports back. It'll make people happy it'll signal this openness that maybe we're we're coming out of this and yet you don't WanNa move too fast. Olympic runner of the Bearman thinks that the twenty twenty one Olympics will be a history making record breaking year. But I think he's GonNa going to unite us. I'm just GONNA have so much energy like a lot of things. Going every athlete winner represent contract because they know what their country went through so everybody wanted to do when do their best Magic Johnson also remains hopeful America. All of us who live in this great country that we live in. We need sports especially in a time like this but only if everybody is safe

Trump celebrates victory after impeachment acquittal
"But we will begin with the president's celebration of his acquittal in the Senate and his thank you to the men and women specially the Republican Party but also his staff for standing by him through the ordeal of the three year ordeal the Democrats launched against Donald Trump even before he was sworn in as president in twenty seventeen the three you are deal alleging conduct that was a hoax to quote my friend Devin newness of fairy tale of fantasy fabulous made up falls three years of it I don't need a detailed because a man who's lived it along with me is seven core concept a very good evening to you the president as specially mentioned Devin and his remarks and I talk to Devon earlier in the program and was a delight to learn that once I read the news how do you measure the president's remarks today what did it do for the Republican Party that now completely supports the president good evening to you ASAP good evening John well I I played a large chunk of the president's press conference from the west wing which was ruby impromptu it wasn't a teleprompter speech it was heart filled and it was delightful because I've you said of the photos the the the victory round that this is you know a man and a quick hit forever and he beat and the lives of been destroyed he went around the room one by one with personal anecdotes thanking everyone there who had done so much to fight for the truth including Devin newness got a special shout out but perhaps one of the most enjoyable folly and and and warmest comments which is to Steve Scalise who you recognize the specially given the the violence of the did meted out on him that almost took his life so today is is a is a glorious day I had match lap from the American conservative union on my show he said he was in the area where he is a man who has breeze and live the conservative movement for for many many years and Matt said John he's never seen the Republican Party so United and so excited elderly supporters with that might read manga hats on you're getting up from there with the walkers and and and and punching the air and and excited and what I have to give him full credit Matt said this is the first day of the new presidency the president never had a honeymoon he was never given a break for three and a half years and with the state the incredible state of the union and we have the liquid alone on both counts in the Senate impeachment trial this could be the that new start for the trump presidency the state of the union I I've read over the speech because it was happening while I was in the air and I was not able to view and I saw the video clips the president's statements were straight forward he he was a summarizing the accomplishments of the trump administration in fact it was so obvious worry was going the whole time but I'm told that the Democrats sat there many of them wearing white sat there glom can I take this as a form of cheering for the president that the Democrats had nothing to say no we we we really have to be very clear about what happened in the state of the union it was appalling because on the one hand you had an incredible speech some have said it's the best speech the president has given I still think the Warsaw speech will be more historically significant but it is clearly one of the best state of the union speech of any president have given it was so perfectly choreographed drawn from the the the story of the nine year old black girl who finally has been awarded a scholarship by that by the White House she will be able to choose which school she goes to the one hundred year old Tuskegee airmen who would just have to stop you don't have that often by the president making him a general whose great grandfather is that in the gallery wanting to join the space force as an officer the the military family that the mother who was there with her her children who've been supporting the the families at Fort Bragg whose sobs and is surprised to heat she surprised by the fact that her husband the sergeant returns from the sky and the stand during the speech by the president and all of these jobs all of them the Democrats sat down and did and she did that they didn't they didn't they didn't see it when he said we have the highest employment for women in America we have the lowest unemployment for minorities the people who the Democrats say they represent and and they wouldn't even cheer for the fact that the president said we have taken millions of people of food stamps John it was it was on American it was so now what it was do this if and and it really shows the Democrats who they have become a a party that has been taken over by radicals like other she did to leave walked out half way through the state of the union Nancy Pelosi who destroyed a government document in peak at the end of the speech by ripping it up including all those incredible stories that were part of the state of
New virus infects more than 7,700 in China, other countries
"China corona virus hot but more the more hot I'm looking at the South China morning post the headlights from a newspaper distinguished newspaper now in the hands of the Communist Party it's owned by Ali Baba which is a subset corona virus desk time to one seventy cases exceed seventy seven hundred China faces bigger epidemic than sars in quote grave Carl coronavirus outbreak this is of concern Hong Kong nurses call in sick in protest a refusal to close borders sees the headlights right now it's morning it's Thursday morning Chad in addition we have the report of free confirmed we'll had evacuees in Japan with the virus McDonald's is closed all of its branches in China I saw a report earlier about Starbucks closing I saw a report earlier about Google either evacuating close there been various reports all day of their lives stopping service to China I know I saw the British air stopping service they'll be more or limiting the service and then this strange deeply concerning rotavirus props WHL World Health Organization U. N. super body to consider a merchants growing evidence says the sub head of human to human transmission outside China they must been reading Twitter forcing the WHL tour of reevaluate last week's decision not to declare a global health emergency there's the clue right there what I just read you and I go to Gordon check is going to ask a question of our correspondent Arthur Waldron of the university of Pennsylvania about what that statement about the WHL reveals about the present crisis in chat a guard good evening to you the question Dick Arthur please phrase our other today we'll see one news agency released a statement from the director general of the WHL after he met with C. jumping in Beijing and the director general said that China was quote winning the admiration of the world on foot another quote this is the superiority of the Chinese system and the experiences are worthy of emulation by other countries your comment please Arthur well I mean that is ridiculous and Walton and everybody including the people who are making those statements no that is wrong right now the reports that I have been gathering of we've all been seeing China is seething with anger at the absolute incompetence of the people in charge and also at the grotesque lack of emergency preparation I was just reading before we came on the air about a elderly man who had to go to a different hospital and his you that none of them would let a man and it isn't clear what his status is now people are list quite literally dropping dead on the street and they are so mad the they are there before burning up the wires on the internal talk minutes and who knows what they'll burn up next our third the puzzle here is that China has a top down command system no one could move until he or she receives an order from the top and it goes all the way to the M. for therefore the puzzle does China knows the embers the problem do they understand the fish they had the state my feeling is that they do if you think of almost any country facing the this incredible disease out out out out break like this this is you could say that this is like a Chinese Chernobyl I mean it's a huge disaster the the head of the country when the president of France or you know the IBM this is mark they would be on the next plane to wherever the place once they be making themselves visible to the people they'd be meeting with the officials say be crouching there eating a few finger fulls of rice with the nurses before they go back to work they'd be comforting the bereaved they would be exposing themselves to danger and so I will leadership death the big question of the Chinese that apparently is where is trump now what does that mean it doesn't mean trump trump is the code word that they have adopted for she's in pain who is described as safely in Beijing and people are absolutely red hot hopping mad about this wait are there just wanna check where is trump is code for where she is that correct that is correct yes that is important that's fabulous that tells me the Chinese people got soul the Chinese people they one of wall grins lost in the Chinese people are very smart and one of the problems that the government's having this time is they have various **** and bull story and the people and millions and millions of them on the phone they're able to play with words make ponds make references to all kinds of stuff and the and and the poor they're overwhelmed the poor sensors are overwhelmed by the volume of the discussions and they're also overwhelmed by the intelligence and wit of the way that views are conveyed guard the anger toward the end certainly aren't there last couple days state television critic Chinese television critic of posted a comment about the HBO series Chernobyl in that comment the critic mentioned nothing about the corona virus and the current situation in China and yet of course that whole posting was taken down because the Chinese leaders know that people are talking in a very determined way about Chernobyl it's a quick ability to what's going on and move on and China and the need for a whole new and political system and are there I think that you're absolutely right the Chinese people now understand this they're talking openly about it and this could very well be a leading sign of a failure of the Communist Party I agree with you I think you could go back to June night the first small teachers strike in Hong Kong and then you can look at wave after wave that is hip hip the the Beijing the communist leaders the communists the first the Hong Kong demonstrations then there washing defeat at the polls another bid to sell to the lecture long calling them the communists have been absolutely wiped out each time then the triumphant election of the Taiwan president who won more votes than anyone has ever won there and that already had speaking a little bit nervous to put it mildly to their they don't know how to win elections and now they have this challenge of keeping people alive this at the office and they can't meet it they don't have any idea what they're doing they don't know anything about the virus they don't know how it spreads and ads for word originated which I believe is a chemical warfare lab our other a biological warfare lab there's no proof of this but there is there's a lot of indirect indications of users one right smack in the middle of one time and the only one which is capable of holding this virus where experiments on this fires have been carried out if this they there's talk of the Chinese Communist may even admit that swear trump they are in so far over their heads it is just not funny and I think the lottery officials the governor or the mayor I guess he was being taken to task for not being Odyssey so you have to understand we knew all this stuff but we couldn't tell you until the higher ups gave us the okay now in the system like China for subordinate to say I do this so I would have told you that Mister Mister Biggs said that I couldn't that's insubordination and further more it it it is she is she looks like a weakling he is coming out looking like a complete weekly with no guts no sympathy living in a kind of vain world of his own so this is very very bad I was involved in the university of Pennsylvania Gordon
Are the Democrats ready for Bernie Sanders to get the 2020 presidential nomination?
"The news in the Senate well is that the Democrats are on repeat repeat repeat so we're going to move past that waiting for Mr step alone Mister Sekulow and the team from the White House to win our attention with succinct remarks about the foolishness of this whole exercise that is draining the nation's attention at the same time it is slowing the business at hand of reelecting the president of the United States I don't want to go to something that's even more surprising the election cycle to me yesterday as I approached caring for the show the CNN poll national Posada showing that Bernie Sanders had gone in the lead over Joe Biden the national Paul and then I today was in correspondence with our colleague John fund of the National Review online and he sent me a granite state poll from New Hampshire Bernie Sanders is going to lead by twelve points in New Hampshire and then I saw the Iowa poll of these last days showing the Bernie Sanders was also outpacing Joe Biden and Liz before in Iowa the thinking is that Bernie Sanders is drawing from the disappointing Elizabeth Warren supporters but this is the question to you is the best are the Democrats really ready really ready for Bernie Sanders at the top of their nomination process are they ready to deal with what he represents good evening to you ASAP good evening John I put it another way that they're ready to sabotage him and they're doing so right now how is the the the the halt Mike incident with between Bernie and Elizabeth Warren at the CNN debate took several days facts the B. leaks tool to be used in the media what what what was the pulley that what what was the accidental pools for several days and then you have the long interview with Hillary Clinton where she goes off to him and this falling on top of the private discussion the the heart to credit discussion in which we're supposed to believe that an up and socialist the honeymoon in the Soviet Union is Bernie Saunders did flat out told Elizabeth Warren the woman combi to present United States what he knew full well he'd probably be running against of the the Democrat establishment on it's clear in the in the last few days has set its sights on Bernie Saunders three years ago it was done with super delegates it was done with the D. and the using every tool in the book to rob him of the nomination I'm not saying this out of any sympathy to them on reconstituted socialist we're talking about here but he he is not part of the the classic Democrat establishment and that's why the knives already out the the the odds of March is occurring as we see it with regard to Bernie Saunders because the Democrat establishment cannot abide the thought that this man could end up at the top of the ticket history says that a stop fill in the blank movement always results in that person getting a hand getting the nomination right now the anybody but fill in the blank Bernie MO is probably contributing to those numbers that I gave you in the polling is gaining attention in addition to the fact Elizabeth Warren is fading so let us entertain the unimaginable is the trump campaign ready to run against Bernie Sanders the populist is is there is there any stone we need to turn over and look at closely before we enter into that fantastic dual I was also the reason I've been with my colleagues in California will places but two thousand the conservative patriots came to the event it was Dennis Prager myself mark to be in and one of the questions from the audience was which one of the candidates are you worried about which one of the candidates on the left a gives you you know most sleepless nights when it comes to a a competition with food with the incumbent and mark was lost the question that is with us the question and I said it doesn't matter modern politics is about celebrity it's about charisma individuals like Bloomberg Macy's you can purchase it but we know that you cannot buy love all popularity but John it really I'm I'm completely sincere about this it doesn't matter who they choose even if Oprah runs our fifth absurd conspiracy theory that Michelle Obama the love it's it's crazy job why because of the the economic results that is your pot full when you create we've added eleven trillion dollars to the US economy with when the stock market you can't keep up with the breaking records on the stock market and when you see the unemployment figures the likes of which we haven't seen since nineteen sixty nine it really means that it doesn't matter who gets the nomination just on pocket books to load Donald Trump should all other things being equal stroll back into the White House and yet Sam what we see in the polling is that Bernie Sanders is going to do very well in the first two votes that the Iowa caucus in New Hampshire we have reason to believe he'll do well in Nevada as well just reason to believe I haven't seen any recent polls bodies it is leading nationally in some fashion what are the Democrats who support Bernie Sanders telling us that they don't care about the White House that they don't care about the party that they don't care about down ticket is that what they say what what the Democrats and I'm trying to think yeah I'm trying to do what we were supposed to do is have you were trained in military intelligence you trying to get into the mind of the follow but at least as a coach out of the Cold War the pho was rational drawn when we collected the intelligence and read the read the the the the publications all of all of the enemy we could extrapolate to some kind of rational objective in the in the application of ways and means to that executive but with when we're talking about individuals who truly believe that after forty countries for their countries have tried socialism since the manifesto was written by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels and every single one of those countries has failed I I have no rational explanation for what they see it's it's really indoctrination from the nineteen seventies on was that they always have you and I will watch this story I mean that's our job will watch this story over the next a number of weeks to the February third what is it is less than two weeks to remember third will watch a story and see whether it is this suicide watch for the Democratic Party or is there some scheme here that so clever it's like the ability to cheat at monopoly you can't catch them have it all right we'll see
Trump says middle class tax cut to be announced over next 90 days
"The president mentioned a tax cut to follow the election are presuming he has control of the Senate and control of the house of representatives and that's an ambition what would it look like over there any hands for his well I think they are trying to pitch tax cuts for lower income people through the earned income tax credit may be also child tax credits we talked before hand you would mention maybe something about Kay and tax cuts on capital gains that is something Republicans long to put through whether that would be something he talks about in this election I frankly doubt it I mean Democrats would paint that is something that's only attractive for wealthy people even though we know farmers for example are are very disadvantaged if if capital gains go up and other people who have real assets that ultimately get sold but I think they're going to be talking about middle class tax cuts because there is the persistent criticism that too much of the tax cuts in two thousand seventeen went to high income people so look trump has turned the tables on American politics there is no denying it and whereas Democrats always prided themselves on representing workers union workers in particular but workers overall middle income people now it's really president trump who sort of has made that his mission and you know they talk about middle class incomes going up five thousand dollars since he was elected that is a reasonable statistic median incomes are higher than they've ever been before it you know the Democrats can talk and talk and talk but the reality is all those people across America at the end of the day know that they're better off than they were and that the simplest message of all from president trump and Republicans in November will be not only are you better off than you were do you want to stay better off or do you want to turn the podium back over to the group that was it basically is talking about raising taxes lowering grows and and also crimping our individual freedoms I think these are big topics in big themes for this
What Is America Still Doing in the Middle East?
"Iran said it launched a missile attack on US led forces in Iraq in the early hours of Wednesday right now in retaliation for the U. S. drone strike on an Iranian commander who's killing has raised fears of a wider war in the Middle East Tehran fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles from Iranian territory against at least two Iraqi military bases hosting US led coalition personnel at about one thirty AM local time that according to the US military fog of war the source for most all of this news is Iraq the source for the photograph produced by Reuters being used and picked up around the world right now is Iran press handout via Reuters we're looking at propaganda release from the follow fog of war I welcome Victor Davis Hanson of the Hoover Institution is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution writing most recently at American greatness about a much larger canvas then the propaganda of the disgraced rogue Tehran regime this has to do with the American people asking questions over these last years what is the Middle East for what we doing there Victor a very good evening to you it's an excellent question it comes up often I'm sidestepping the partisan matter will come to that but you asked this question in light of the revelations of these last years at the U. S. is not dependent on middle eastern oil is not depended on in fact the success of any of these all ago or Logar case or of the bully boys Iran and its help mates Russia and China we're not depended upon them at all we are locked into a long term conversation that is left over from the twentieth century in the Cold War so do you measure that the American people that the trump administration are trying to find an exit or to change our posture towards the Middle East good evening to Victor good evening John I think they're trying to collapse all of the reverse to be in the middle east of the last seventy years down to just one or two reasons to have a much smaller footprint and by that I mean we don't need it oriel anymore and the people who are most dependent on the waterways are trying now in the European Union the European Union apparently won't track horizontally grow on their own territory and they won't protect their own tankers in China we don't really want to subsidize their security needs I don't think we don't have a as you said the geo political rival like the Soviet Union proven as on a qualifier in self in Syria there are so many mount Terry questions but no more so than in Africa or South America or Asia so I guess what we're saying is why why do we have troops in Iraq and what are we worried about I think the only answer well I think one the administration is focused on is we don't want the oil wells and its considerable about thirty percent of the world's oil we don't want that but while format to accumulate in my hands about unstable regime that would use it to get a ball that's all I can Franco and that's why we are trying to contain a ram the other secondary reason is we don't want to become an enclave of sanctuary or platform what used to be black September of the PLO the national liberation front propels flying or then later became all cried and isis so did most two reasons it's hard to see why were there and I think the ministrations same old grunts stand off with around so that we were in the sport of stopping them from becoming a nuclear power and then we went and history of a bomb isis for most of the only two legitimate reasons I can
China says will strive to reach phase one trade deal with U.S
"Two weeks ago phase one minute here we go Wall Street within the last twenty four hours phase one not a minute trouble with agriculture IP the usual basket of case now I am of the opinion that if something's happening they'll tell you if it's not rumors of usually indicate nobody's got any news anyway it's just a lot of space in the span of course we've been through this before it's a roller coaster it's a little roller coaster it's hardly going up very far we don't have to go down very far so right now we're going down a little slow no deal no deal by thanksgiving no deal by Christmas no deal she didn't big question is he's still holding out for Joe Biden I think that something was going on in Beijing which we don't quite understand and I think that they do believe in China that they can hold out longer as you point out if you go back two weeks everybody except for me but everybody was saying that there was going to be a hundred percent chance of what president trump called a phase one trade deal it was a sort of marked down arrangement not comprehensive president trump October eleventh in the oval office announced this phase one trade deal as he stood next to the Chinese trade negotiator vice premier well hello then what happened is the Chinese started to up their demands and specifically they did two things first of all they wanted a comprehensive rollback of American tariffs which were not part of the October eleventh arrangement and then they decided that they did not want to make a specific commitment as to the purchase of American agricultural products this is very important of course the president trump so it looks like the Chinese have reneged on that October eleventh deal and there are a couple of other indications that there's problems in Beijing but you point out and one of them is on Saturday The New York Times released four hundred and three pages of Communist Party documents about the oppression of the Uighurs in the cosmetics in what people call soon John or Chinese occupied east Turkestan that is supposed to move in rage the Chinese leadership and in their view made it impossible to sign it even a phase one trade deal with the United States so this is getting extremely
Senate passes bill aiming to protect Hong Kong human rights
"The news from Washington the US Senate unanimously passed legislation on Tuesday aimed at protecting human rights in Hong Kong amid a crackdown on a pro democracy protest movement drawing condemnation from Beijing the news the it's entitled the Hong Kong human rights and democracy act the house of representatives and the president of the United States of indicated that he will sign this bill once it reaches his desk is that correct that's correct John the Senate and the house versions are different but speaker Pelosi said that she's going to accept the Senate version it's going to the president's desk shortly and the president has indicated he will sign it we welcome Arthur Waldron and the university of Pennsylvania first to comment on the fact that the Congress which is which cannot agree on the weather has now decided to agree on condemnation of the Chinese Communist Party in specific she didn't pick guard she jumping is the Communist Party he is the government yeah he is and increasingly so and that is a departure from previous years and it has consequences are there a very good evening to you condemning she didn't pay because I had the I'm not being fancy here this condemns his decision making is that is that is that a blow to the Communist Party they shrug this off and give out propaganda as they have for the last seventy years good evening to you it really is a body blow to the Communist Party to use the original plan appeal cast your mind back to suit nineteen eighty four and nineteen ninety seven with the Hong Kong was going to be treated differently from anywhere else in China they were gonna have freed them their freedom of press they have freedom of speech by this point they will be electing their own chief executive that it is in writing and the United States eager to support this well yeah resolution of the question of what to do with the one policy with the British did not leave a democracy when they a band that went went when they gave it freedom we okay well if you do certain things if you do these things will do certain things to will treat them in in special ways that canonically and all the rest what's happened now is the way you said well look you have screw this up so totally that we do not consider the you are keeping any of the promises that you made where it's quite clear and therefore one ocular given special treatment because of it hello he had to the promises to get a special treat other words you have a whole slew of cycle of diplomacy that was part of the optimism of the direction of well what if China is completely down the drain in Arthur Beijing has summoned the embassy of second in command because investors not there to complain about the Hong Kong human rights and democracy act as being a violation of their sovereignty they said they're going to retaliate in unspecified ways but it seems that China really has no way to retaliate against the U. S. there huffing in there puffing and what we are seeing Arthur is this supposedly mighty state which is a post on the twenty first century looks hopeless well they look helpless with respect to us but consider it we've had nearly six months of massive demonstrations first immense but peaceful millions literally two million people photographs from above a impressive who were simply bearing witness to the fact that they wanted to be heard and then they started a little bit of trouble and then more and then by yesterday be you had a pitch battle at the polytechnic university where work for foot bridges were being burned armored an armored car was on fire it saturates sector and through all of this we had not seen or heard any official reaction from St Jane or from really from Hong Kong except to say this is unacceptable and we may have to stop it but it shows complete governmental incompetence in an African country if this was happening in the number two city the president from the first number one city he'd be over at the second city by by twenty four hours ever ready with a look we got to figure out what the hell we're going to do our car is gone on for for for five years five months and no action no discussions no communication it suggests that somehow the ability of the P. R. C. to do even simple things such as can be in a meeting is impaired U. as talked about something which I think is a significant change in the Hong Kong population and that is over these past five months of the we have seen Beijing inflame the population at various times by doing the wrong thing but what's occurred you have pointed out is that there has been an irrevocable change in Hong Kong's people if you could explain that well I think I should say this is an insight from Willie lamb who is really the dean of China watchers seven Hong Kong himself although he's a Canadian he lives in Canada and is the man he was sick of the heart one horrible thing after the point is the child that these people say they're eighteen year olds say their twenty two year old say their thirteen year olds say that there are parents say that their grandparents asked to these searing weeks of indecision of suffering of fear for their loved ones of police firing live ammunition and god knows what direction of the underground Chinese criminals coming out and beating up subway car passengers and all the rest they've stopped being your usual very very sort of thoughtful and unemotional urban citizens the you had before he went about their business they've been politicized and they've been politicized deeply and they now I think it's fair to say there seven and have people in Hong Kong who who with hatred of the day as I was saying earlier because mothers they hate the guts of the Communist Party are Sir Arthur imagine for us how the Tiananmen generation sees or hears the news of what's going on in Hong Kong does it make them regret does it make sense take over what they did that the compromises they made since eighty nine no I don't think so at all I think if they say to themselves well of course this is exactly what you expect this is what we went through this is what communism produces its is dysfunctional destructive mechanism for writing a society at a certain point its victims either they try to speak to women say for god sakes stop think about what you're doing and what it what it shows that is death then there's violence they chairman worked were naive enough to think that the people's army of China would not shoot at Chinese people I always to say by someone they can't do it you stick a bear and an eighteen year old undergraduate girl in killer that changes the course of history but that's what they did and now it's happened in Hong Kong is really in most of it in most ways very very similar not least in the affect people who went through the chairman crash this situation they've got so yes I seem to remember that thirty years ago while I was part of some unpleasant once people are killed I mean if your if your friend is beaten and then recovers maybe you don't think about all the time if you're somebody standing next to two other people both of whom are shot in the forehead and

"Kong cloudy rose said of the independent women's forum has been in Hong Kong these last hours and days Arkady was there earlier in the cycles FOR many weeks and then left momentarily and is now back to report on what she's seen over these last twenty four hours we have incomplete reports of confrontations leading to at least one death what looks to be a gunshot death of a protester a young person now I want to frame this before going to Claudia cloudy semi videos are during the precedent during the run up to the demos last night what I saw where young people children for my part of the winners seventy one years old you're allowed to say children when they're under twenty children holding hands and singing songs that's what I saw I also saw a city that was prepared for worse well apparently it came Claudia a very good morning to you it is now October second for you we are getting incomplete reports here of violence but more to the point I want to know how the Carrie lam administration Caroline was in Beijing for the parade of missiles how they prepared and executed their police presence during the October first protests good morning to you. good morning driving cleaning up as China's national day basis to his very own are looking to update you on one thing the teenager who was shot point blank in the chest by a police officer is alive he's in critical condition but he's in the hospital but he looks like he will survive that's good that to your main question the way that they prepared here for national day was the chief executive left for Beijing to celebrate China is the second anniversary of communist China and leaving her deputy in charge here and effectively the police in charge of the streets who began by the day began with the shut down of critical natural state subway stations they called the MTR here and when I went down into the wind here's where I'm standing to see what what was going on in the NPR first thing I run into are a riot police into big huddles because while the NPR in the now thing they're doing this for passenger safety actually the greatest threat to safety in Hong Kong has the con itself police force right now you know quick behind it the threat of the turning those people's armed police and people will Gration are eight but they use the metro as staging areas at this point and get more from which they can boil up almost anywhere to very official subway system and means like the people are wall that is very communist China the people are world out using their own and she are on grounds that they don't want people coming to these protests and from there it just spot on in two it basically. carrying a violent or well territory there was a big March that Hong Kong people wanted to hold a lawyer usual bring Josh on day and they always protest against China on national day this is the first year that it was banned and it was bad with all sorts of threats that things would go badly for anyone who showed up alright. I could don't know the numbers except that they were huge a little thousandths thousandth thousand showed up probably a hundred thousand maybe more it just went on and on if you. materialize and they took the roots and chanting as they went fight for freedom extent with Hong Kong I watch and take down yet more of these big banners that the government has put up celebrating the seventieth anniversary of communist China crowd cheering I thought they were very painting graffiti free Hong Kong and so on they walked down the surveillance lamb calls in the what we're reading about is vandalism is targeting sites and symbols of authority they went past Jewish shops that which they didn't touch they went past hi and shopping malls where did you spray paint graffiti on shop that deals that are basically dealing with the big with that are backed by trying to interest but the rest of it they really leave alone and this that turned into confrontations which went on in districts all over Hong Kong as half the MTR stations were shut down as white police came out and fired in another finance it's your gas which they do at this point indifferent to whether there are families with kids in strollers in nearby to death nothing to do with that yes it's a terrible scene and what a border one two is kind of groups are really here already certainly on the street. John is rules was second looks like cloudy as they grow this can you imagine a little for us Hong Kong a year from now. I can tell you what it looks like I saw it late last night when I took a stroll through the what was it those awards out where they were already had trucks out cleaning up the the garbage the debt collectors which the protesters the drive to form barricades all right it looks like what was a really beautifully cacti and street wear it's a pleasure to walk around turn into a rubble strewn a landscape covered with graffiti there's free Hongkong fight out one last the defense boil down to they want to elect their own leaders on and it it was just a dark trash out city you never used to be an add on click on television years ago saying that the credibility of different it would show fibercon con and then it would show a dark gray obscene basically like communist China thirty years ago and I looked at the scene last night and if you could still this turned out so thick that add hours afterward as they were cleaning up. we're still gagging and coughing as they walked home to places in one try which is where what sort of good pitched battles are fought over and over because it's near the main police headquarters near the central government complex and those are two sites they go to all right so it's weak. but now that they've already arrested a hundred eighty people in late yesterday that's on top of more than fifteen hundred before the act they had begun rounding them up before this national day that president xi Jinping in China calls we should check the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation unfortunately he's rejuvenating it as a total of date on and basically if they sure is violent and what they wanted to hear is a culture of individual freedom will be a real desire for liberty and rule of law and that's why you're getting these tremendous showdown this is where the two tectonic plates of our time are your really meeting right now hearing aid versus hiring is free society. we just have a minute I want to because you said you were a Tiananmen you saw before and after Tiananmen and I've seen before and after on October first twenty nineteen are the mainland authorities are they a. intimidated to use the mortal violence they use thirty years ago what are they are they in some way holding back. it's very possible again we're all guessing it's possible they are because they want Hong Kong junior reserve banking. its support for foreign exchange but I they have been letting this play out right I think it's shado fighting in a way real people are really getting hurt but in Beijing where they just have their huge military parade. at this point they're letting call control itself apart and the question is how will they finally after being at I would not rule out guns by any stretch marks. slowly rose said of the independent women's forum she's reporting from Hong Kong the events before during and after the confrontation on October first twenty

"Five eight hundred eighty eight ten Brian in San Jose, Brian you're on KGHM with Ethan. Bearman miss Pelosi is correct not televising the state of the union address because Mr. T likes the camera too much. Secondly, the pizza delivery guy it's going to hurt my bottom line, but take the hit. Because you know. State of the union is good for pizza delivery. And I think Mr. T doesn't know how to write. What we do know that all presidents do have speechwriters. But to your point. He does he loves the camera. That is how he connects with his base is in person is so it's visual for him in. It's the words I would suggest that you have a very strong point never a political perspective. The Democrats look at this and go good. If we can keep him off a camera. That's better for us. There's no question about it. I like it Brian. I and I'm sorry that your pizza delivery business gets her four one five eight eight ten Robert in San Jose, Robert your KGHM with using behrman. Thanks for taking my call. It's in agree with the last caller. There's nothing for him to say unless it's on reopening, the government, we already know what he thinks. And how we feel and the fact that he's asking people to go back to work, but we're not gonna pay you. This just a kick in the crotch for those individuals, and I don't wanna see that on television. Now, if I may ask you a question, you keep saying that we need to understand the Trump voter. Why do you say that? Why do you feel that way? I'm curious when you last heard me say that it is not sure you've heard those words for me at least several months if not longer. So you you don't feel that we need to understand in. And I think we always need to hear people speak and allow them on certain platforms to express themselves. That is the democratic way is that we have debate. And I go on shows where I may fundamentally disagree with the people who I'm discussing topics with. I think conversation discussion is important because that's how we debate what the information is. But to say, I have to understand Trump voters at this point. I think we have pretty good documentation of of where they stand. So I those aren't words that I use. I think you're getting those specific words from somebody else. I definitely believe in debate. That is something. I definitely stand for Robert. All right need. I was just gonna say that. I think that the problem is the majority of us already do understand exactly what they can how they feel and majority of us that point of view and. Having lived through the Reagan years in northern Virginia and seeing where the Republican party has gone since the late sixties, I think Trump's just a natural Indian of that party. Yeah. I agree with you. I mean, he is not the cause of what is happening right now. He's in. He's an indicator of it. Right. He he's just he was elected because of these things that have been happening for a period of time. You could go back to the late sixties you back to the John Birch society and look at them and say, maybe they're the origin of of a lot of this. Maybe it's Ayn rand. Maybe it's that type I don't know. I I'll let other people writing about that. But I can I can sure say he is the culmination of this not the start of it. So I agree with you on that one. Robert, thanks for calling in four one five eight hundred eighty eight ten Craig in Sacramento, Craig you're on KGHM with Ethan Bearman. Hi. Hi, thanks for taking my call regards to speaker Pelosi. I agree wholeheartedly what she's doing? I it's my understanding that he is required to make some sort of a speech, but he can make that from anywhere. You can make it from his home from his basement or any place on earth, and so not inviting him to speak in front of the full congress. I would wholeheartedly believes. Yeah. And again for eternity presents did it in writing. And then with the advent of radio, they started giving telephone or radio speeches on the radio the state of the union, then it became on television. So there is a history to say, hey, you just give it to us in writing. Let us know what you think the state of the union is because it's in the constitution required to do it from time to time appreciate the call. Craig? Thank you so much. I also got a message in from Craig that says I'm not in favor of federal workers being forcibly called back to work for free. The thirteen. Amendment makes involuntary servitude. Against the wall. I totally agree. Talked about that. We we we've discussed that where I think that there should be. I can't believe a federal judge just throat those lawsuits, and I really believe that judge in Washington DC threw him out because the judge didn't want to be the target of President Trump's ir. Do you want to get him? All that is actually the judiciary's place is the whole the legislative and executive branches accountable to the constitution. So I disagreed with that judge staying out of it. I agree with you this involuntary servitude. Say get back to work, but we're not gonna pay you for it. And we might not ever pay you for it. It's it's actually ridiculous. So I'll be very curious to see we still haven't heard back from the White House yet on the letter this morning from speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi saying maybe ought to wait to give us a state of the union until after the government shutdown origins. Do like they did for the first one hundred and forty years of our country's existence and give it to us in writing. And I'm and now the question was who read the letter to President Trump? Who had that job to deliver the news to President Trump? That's so I'm curious about that would be an interesting job to have when it well. Mr President, the speaker of the house says they've rescinded your invitation to give state of the union address in front of congress who wants to be in that room when that happened because you know, he didn't read the letter himself. He doesn't read. I didn't say he's illiterate. I just said he doesn't really watch TV. And he listens to people meetings. It's been well documented he doesn't read what they give them in writing. He asked for somebody else to brief him on it. So I'm not suggesting he's illiterate not saying that. But I am saying we know and he's very well. Open about this. He doesn't read he watches TV. He listens. So who had to tell him about that letter from speaker Pelosi fascinating aren't coming up in just a moment. We have the attorney general nominee was that the Senate yesterday it's still going on William bar Robert Muller national security reporter from the Washington Post. "Tweets out, Ethan Bearman. The showdown continues and the coastguards not getting paid today. A court in Washington DC just had some really bad news for eight hundred thousand people working for the government and federal judge just ruled came in just a couple of minutes ago. Just rule. Federal judge US district court judge Richard J Leon. Refused to force the government to pay federal employees who've been working without compensation during the government shutdown. Rejecting arguments from labor unions that unpaid work, violates labor laws in the constitution. It does. The judge said, quote, it would be quote profoundly irresponsible, and quote to issue an order that would result in thousands of employees staying home from work. He said, and I continue and I quote at best it would create chaos and confusion worst. It would be catastrophic. I'm not going to put people's lives at risk, and quote, the judge ruled against a consolidated claim from the national treasury employees union and the national traffic air traffic controllers association bile against the government, alleging that employees should not be forced to work without pay. The list of unionized employees who've had to work with pay during the shutdown includes the IRS customs and border protection the food and Drug administration. The Environmental Protection Agency the National Park Service. The agriculture department Securities Exchange Commission, federal sc- Federal Communications Commission as we found out today to the coastguard the coastguard. The American federation of government employees is among three unions along with a number of government employees who have filed suit against the Trump administration alleging that employers should not be forced to work without being paid. It was a bench hearing. Declined to issue a temporary restraining order. Compelling government to pay its employees. This is weird. So we can continue to tell people you have to work. I don't know if I'm ever going to pay you that violates a number of laws related to minimum wage when a violates the union contracts every union contracts as I must be paid for my work within a certain period of time. So that would violate federal law on related National Labor Relations board. I mean, you can't just unilaterally change terms of a union contract. You cannot it's against the law. That's what's happening here. I didn't read the filing in this case man, I would've loved to have. Donald pro Bono work here. By the way, the general counsel for the national treasury employees union has filed lawsuits against government said he had hoped the judge would rule in the unions favors, something he said would have quote put pressure on political branches to come to some resolution and the shutdown eight hundred thousand people without pay. And their families dependent on them. They're they're being given. I owe us. You can't do that. You can't spend money. Congress hasn't. Appropriated. This whole thing is it's just it's so upsetting. I think we have to play the clip again, who's shutdown is it the Democrats have really done a good job of sticking together on this one, by the way as impressive to see Democrats actually sticking together because they're usually really good. It's splintering is there's so many different groups under that umbrella. But it was it was just over a month ago. The United States Senate passed a continuing resolution funding the government without border wall money through February. So there will be time to negotiate and out of the blue the president invited Nancy Pelosi speaker Pelosi and minority leader Senator Chuck Schumer to the White House and unbeknownst everybody of shortly before that he announced before they met. He knows I'm going to have TV cameras. We're gonna televise this thing. And on TV he announced that this is he's gonna shut down the government over this issue. And it's his shutdown. These are his words, I will be the one to shut it down. I'm not gonna blame you for the last time you shut it down. It didn't work. I will take the mantle of shutting down. It's Trump shutdown. Okay. So the Trump shutdown continues people aren't getting paid any federal guide said. Yeah, I'm not sticking my nose into that. That's basically, what does judge said? Oh, I'm not one not going to be the guy that does that. Even though it's constitutional and the appropriations clauses very clear, the executive has no power violation of the separation of powers and the appropriations clause for the executive in this case, the president United States to refuse to participate in the process does forcing workers to work without getting paid and issuing I owe us, I I think that's a solid legal argument. And while all that's going on refusing to pay the coastguard refusing to pay all those other people in our government. Guess what else was snuck in late yesterday that you didn't hear about that? Just makes me you political bastards you. Remember how the.

"Jason you're on KGHM with Ethan Bearman. Hi, I was calling in to say that even if one terrorist goes from Canada to the United States is that enough to build a wall between Canada and the United States. We're a big country. We got a lot of money we could easily do it. You don't see what the impact would be building a wall? If we just build walls everywhere, and if it's to stop a single terrorist. Well, then we should allow we should stop all visas right because people overstay visas, that's what happened in nine eleven they had visas to come to the United States. They overstayed them they committed acts of terror. So we should end people come to the United States on a visa, right? Well, no, maybe we should be more careful about who we get visas to like the Muslim ban. Right. So we're we're. Wow. Okay. So rule of law. Doesn't matter. The constitution doesn't matter is long as we can stop a single terrorist. The constitution with nieces because what busy as our supreme court has ruled who that's the group of people who interpret our constitution have said that that rights extend to people who aren't just in the United States with our permission. But others once we extend that permission. We can't base rules on things like based on your religion that actually violates our fourteenth amendment. He had say I won't allow Muslims into this. That's why he lost the Muslim ban those first couple of times because that is how they frame it. And they had a rewrite it. So it didn't say it that way that that's how the constitution works now. Jason Dick's calling in all the way from Pennsylvania. I appreciate that four one five eight hundred eighty eight ten rich in clear lake rich, you're on KGHM with Ethan Bearman. There's something about a national address that has a certain Robbie toss to it. It's not just an abuse of my ears because quite frankly agree with the guy you get accomplished roughly the same thing by allowing FOX air, the message, I understand if the president speaks you have to cover him the problem that I have with this is this is all hat leak false. We have misused our resources are army Archerd earth, all based on some kind of xenophobic fear that terrorists are going to cross what three thousand miles of the Sonoran desert when you can just hop into an airplane and get the same thing accomplished. Point being why are we allowing this to even occur? I understand the process. I also understand that this is nothing short of propaganda. So you you rich. I mean, you just heard the previous caller from Harrisburg. And you heard the other caller from San Diego. And so how do you address those people? I mean, they genuinely believed you heard my counterarguments to them. What do you say to them because they genuinely believe terrorists are trying to come across our southern border facts, be damned. What do you think of that rich? I guess we lost rich. All right. Well, rich. Thanks for calling in four one five eight hundred eighty eight ten Mike in San Jose, Mike, you're on Keijo, Maryland. Good afternoon. Nathan. Hey, mike. So what are your thoughts on this? Yeah. Tell me about it. Newsom wants to give all those people that come to California medical. Who's gonna pay for that? Helpers we owe Cowper it's seven hundred million. That they left out of the budget. That's almost a billion dollars in the red. Who's gonna pay for all their medical? And another thing. I if you guys went on leave the order open, I want all the money and the five years time that I lost given my bringing my wife's here. Spent thousands. Yeah, I understand that. I have a lot of friends who are legal immigrants. They spent time in line. They took the citizenship test. I absolutely understand that argument. And I'm not sure who's advocating there about three congress people advocating for straight up open borders, and that's it. None of the rest of us. You've never heard me say, I'm for open borders. I never said those words, and we want to have an organized system. But again, that's not what the president is proposing a simple answer to this. I'm telling you it is so easy. I've been saying it for years. You implement and enforce e-verify on all employers. So now you've disincentivize crossing the border looking for a job unless and in conjunction it while you enforce e-verify across all employers you implement functioning work visa programs. Now, I want to come here and work. I know I can't do it without proper documentation. I sign up for one of the guest work visa programs now that doesn't change asylum seekers and refugees seekers and everything else. But those who are just looking for work. Yeah. We've addressed. It's so easy. But you're not hearing anybody talk about it because it's too easy. And it's politics. That's what's going on four one five eight hundred eighty eight ten let's talk to Matt in walnut creek. Matt you're on KGHM with Ethan Bearman. Hey, how're you doing pretty much? What I have to say is is Iran, Iran, and you're gonna you're gonna say exactly what they already told me Iran on Mexico pay for the wall. I think you guys are splitting hairs the people voted. We wanted. We wanted a wall. He won electorally. That's constitutionally, we want absolute. And so what happened the last two years with the Republicans in charge? Why is it a crisis? Now that the Democrats are in charge of the house. That's politics. That's not reality. That's an artificial crisis. You're correct. But the problem is it's on both sides housing it on both sides when the president said I own this shutdown. I'm doing this because the Republicans had two years to do it. They didn't if the president was such a master deal maker. He couldn't convince nine Democrats to agree with him in the Senate. That's all he needed nine Democrats in the Senate to agree with him that never got out of the house, by the way. A build the wall Bill so the house which was Republican controlled couldn't get it done. It's an artificial crisis. You can't blame the Democrats because the president said this is his shutdown. Let's listen to the president of the United States again in his own words for anybody points at Democrats, again, here's the president of the United States last month in the White House. I will be the one to shut it down. I'm not gonna blame you for the last time you shut it down. It didn't work. I will take the mantle of shutting down. Yeah. I mean, that's it. It's just that. Simple. Math. Could he talk to you? Thanks for bringing into. I do. Appreciate it. Four one eight hundred eighty eight ten Paul in San Leandro, Paul you're on Keijo, eight ten with Ethan Bearman. Hi, Paul, you're on Keijo, eight ten with Ethan Bearman. What are what are your thoughts about all this? Now, you don't. There's no way excuse me. HEW? That will allow any terrorist across the border because. Ruined their business. So the terrorists will never ever take a chance to go through the Mexican border. So w so this cartel thing would wipe them out before you even get here. So this is just like you said, it's just scary. The people for no reason. Just because you're born in this country. Why does it make you more than anybody else? That was born here. Okay. People. These people that just hate just to hate is not a healthy thing to do. "Some of your tweets on Twitter at Ethan Bearman, happy twenty nineteen it is the new year. We're gonna in about twelve minutes talking about northern California women's March canceled for being not diverse enough. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on that. Plus Louis CK's in trouble in hot water for a leaked comedy set. He's supposed to still be a comedian. I thought we'll talk about that one here in about thirty minutes. Let's kick it off with this. President Trump continues. His strange attacks on military people. I I honestly don't understand. He's supposed to be the most pro-military ever. But if a military person dares to say anything after they're done. About him. That's not one hundred percent praise through the most evil awful thing ever in. These are highly decorated highly regarded military personnel, by the way, the president was just giving a little whatever you call it at the White House. He said things like this his super low approval ratings in Europe. Quote from the president. I could be the most popular person Europe. I could run for any office. If I wanted to I don't want to you can't run for office in Europe. Congratulations, President Trump, and you don't speak any languages other than English. He also said this. I had a meeting at the this is what makes me. A little uncomfortable with our present, shall we say? Look, I have a DD to fourteen I signed up for the army and my grandfather was Colonel he's buried at Golden Gate national cemetery. My father served my uncle served. My family is served. I signed up I got injured during basic, so I couldn't serve any longer than I did. But I've done everything I can to work with my country. I've fulfilled. My jury duty every time much to my wife's chagrin. All these kinds of things, right? I'm not some like my country, and what no I love my country and do what I can when he says stuff like this. It just makes me this clearly somebody who's never actually volunteered to do a damn thing in his life. Other than make money for himself. And I quote, our president this morning. I had a meeting at the Pentagon with lots of generals, they were like from a movie better looking than Tom Cruise, Tom Cruise and stronger, and I had more generals than I've ever seen, and we were at the bottom of this incredible room. I said this is the greatest room I've ever seen. That's our president. That is like a three year old boy who's playing with GI Joe choice for the first time. Oh my God. Look at all. Oh my gosh. That's not at all how you measure. The success of the military. The quality of the military anything about everything about that is wrong. By the way, shortly after him lying about Mattis getting fired. He didn't get fired. He actually turned in his resignation letter. And said, he totally disagree with your worldview, and then you didn't let him finish out the time of his resignation, but he resigned, I he was not fired. You went after general mcchrystal, boy, you've gone after every general except for Michael Flynn who is apparently a traitor to his country. According to the judge where you at your actions seem to look like if you're a better, president doesn't go after a potential traitor. He goes after all the honorably serving military members. You don't criticize him in uniform because you're not supposed to do that. And they do it afterwards, which he apparently have a problem with general mcchrystal. He went after. Yesterday. General mcchrystal got fired like a dog by Obama last assignment a total bust known for a big dumb mouth Hillary lover. That's the president, folks. That's the president you elected him. I didn't the day. He entered the race it. Nope. No chance I'm sporting this guy. Don't want him to win everything about that approach is wrong and bad everything everything. And I debate that with family members who dared fend it because some of them do have Trump supporting family and that aspect to President Trump, I will never ever ever get behind that serves no positive purpose in any way. Unless you're a scorched earth, believer, whatever.

"Some of your tweets as well at Ethan Bearman time is released their shortlist for the two thousand eighteen person of the year. It is important to know it's not necessarily an honor award according to them, but Representative of the influence the person or idea has had on the news within the past year for better or worse. Still don't like celebrating people like Adolf Hitler. I don't I know. It's not a work still feels like it. I'm just saying that's why I don't want Vladimir Putin on it either. You may be super influential right now, he may be taking over countries and potentially starting wars and subverting western democracy. I I don't want him on the cover time magazine, just say. Last year the magazine's editors selected the silence breakers. Individuals who spoke up and sparked national reckoning over the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault you before that two thousand sixteen was Donald Trump would just wanna stunning upset and became president the United States. So he's one of the shortlist others separated families, Vladimir Putin, Robert Muller. Ryan Kugler Christine Blasi Ford Jamal kashogi March for our lives. Activists South Korean president moon Jae in and Megan Markle, that's the shortlist from time magazine. What do you think for one five eight hundred eighty eight ten Mike in Pleasanton, Mike, you're on KGHM with Ethan Bearman? So my first choice would be micro everything from returning the favor talking about how you don't have to go to college or trade skills, and he teaches that and the value of hard work. And my second choice would have to mother nature. Fires and hurricanes and everything else about this past year. You know, that's an that is fat. I love that idea, by the way. I like both. I've loved micro for years. He and I share over the years I've been saying the same thing. I I guess I hadn't realized that the same time that he was pitching. You do not have to have a college degree. I love that. He pushes that. And he sponsors people has programs. He has a charity around it. I'm a huge fan of micro. I've actually tried to get him on this show. I don't know how many times and apparently not successfully so far maybe soon maybe this conversation sparks him to come on this show. But he, and I share that a friend of mine wrote a book called not microbe and another friend of mine wrote a book called blue collar gold. He's a chimney sweep worth seven figures from being a chimney sweep. So I'm a big fan of that. I I was critical of governor Brown during the budget crisis. When he cut vocational technical education. I thought that was totally wrong as many jobs now don't require a four year degree as do. So. And I like that and I like, mother nature. That's a good one really really good. Really good four one five eight hundred eighty eight ten. Corey and Cupertino Corey you're on KGHM with Ethan Bearman. Hello. Hi, corey. So what do you who do you think should be times person of the year or who shouldn't be or who? Would you add to the list that Christina for Dr Christina Ford? She's the biggest con artist liar. I've ever listen care. She totally made up her whole story. It was all a con job part of the metoo movement. Just like that song. They're trying to get rid of playing on the radio. It's just women may to movement. Ganged up together to destroy that song and brick capital. I called the building department city of Paulo Alto. And I found out that she applied for pundits to build a a home office in her home. And that's the reason for the second door. And by the way, she was denied three times. You you called and they gave you that information Corey. Hey, interesting. So I could call so hang on. So I'll have my producer call the city of Palo Alto. And I'll say I want information on Christine Blasi Ford's construction permits and they're going to hand that out and say, of course, I'm gonna give you Christine, Dr Christine Blasi Ford. Hurry in for Corey. It's interesting. It's weird. Why men fear women speaking up? It's because they almost always because they have something dark in their own pass that they did that they're ashamed of and now that it's not okay anymore. They're worried it might come out about them to. So I wish you the best Corey. I honestly, do I deeply hope that you can find more humanity in your heart. There's nothing about her tells me, she's a liar that you accuser of everything. And by the way, experts who actually observed her testimony say the opposite. And here's some good news about brek Cavanaugh today so much to the chagrin of conservatives who were huge supporters of Justice, Brad Kavanagh. Did you know there is a supreme court declined today? They announced that they declined to hear a case from the lower courts and supreme court Justice, Brad Kavanagh and chief Justice John Roberts joined the liberal wing of the court to not hear a case that would have allowed states to defunding Planned Parenthood in state Medicaid programs. In other words, the lower court ruling stand that it is illegal to single out Planned Parenthood from Medicaid contracts. That's right. Lower-court rulings prevented Louisiana and Kansas from blocking Planned Parenthood from participating in Medicaid. And it's weird. I've never understood how my friends on the right have such vitriol, Planned Parenthood. Look, I'm not a fan of abortion, not a fan of it. I still believe it's a woman's right to choose. A Planned Parenthood is required to separate their money there. They have a separate book separate accounting ledger for abortion related services. Medicaid is not able to contribute to that. So women's health. Suddenly apparently doesn't matter in places like Texas Planned Parenthood in certain parts of is the only provider of women's health services for like a two hundred mile radius. And yeah, you don't want women to have access to women's health services. I've never quite understood that by the way, it was both chief Justice, John Roberts and just new Justice. Brad kavanagh. Who joined liberals it was only Clarence Thomas Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch who voted to hear the case. I thought this was fascinating surprised more my friends on the right or not live it and saying, oh, Christine Blasi formulas. Right. He should have never made it onto spring because how dare he rule are in this case say I'm not going to hear the case. So therefore, Planned Parenthood gets to continue to get money from Medicaid. All right back to time's person of the year the short list again, it's not an award. But it's Representative of the influence of the percents still don't like it. I don't want Vladimir Putin winning, but Donald Trump separated families, Vladimir Putin, Robert Muller. I actually think it should be Muller. I do I just of all the names on this list. Probably I liked that that one caller said mother nature though. Think that's a great one. Time's person.

To pass on the verdict We're at the broader big it all Everybody's property taxes So the one percent from the renders probably goes down The percents. Homeowners straight so property. Taxes that probably a better idea I do feel that Glenn something Access to help. The homeless that's a. Good, thing I appreciate, your thoughts I so are you? A landlord yourself Robbie Not non Calvary? Okay so you. Understand what, I'm saying though disincentivising investment like that. I'm a little I honestly I'm a little bit worried about that we need a lot more housing here in anything that disincentivize is development concerns me. Right, now until we deal. With our absolute abject shortage of house Ravi thanks for the call I appreciate I really do appreciate. Hearing your insight and in a level of compassion there as well the reason why we didn't do, it at a property tax level while you never hear that though that Robbie brought up. Is because, our state. Laws restrict how. You can raise property taxes it's really really hard you're seriously limited how do this really easy, to pass a tax on, revenue that's, easy for municipalities to do whereas passing property taxes really really. Difficult and they're all kinds of rules around that from the state so what are your? Thoughts on this new, landlord tax proposal for Oakland. To fund homelessness to, deal with homelessness which is a significant? Issue That must be addressed in way more aggressive fashion than we are. Right now I genuinely believe that four one five eight hundred eighty eight ten Stephen San? Rafael Steven you're on, Joey ten with Ethan Bearman Don't feel it's a. Good idea because it will just contribute to larger whether higher taxes and then. Mostly being larger corporations that would it be able to absorb it you know mom and pop type landlords are unable. To do so I had a uncle that adds a couple of flats in the marina and he got to. A point where he just kept. Them vacant because, he didn't, want to deal with. The headache and you say to someone would, move in and be able to get them out and we, eventually sold those it was just easier to do and this is you know follows the same line people are not gonna. Wanna deal with it which will create a rental pool instead of increase. Is I I'm concerned about exactly now really quickly though the Oakland tax will be, on over two hundred thousand dollars of. Rental, revenue it starts a one percent starts on your two hundred thousand first dollar so if you're. Truly mom and pop and you only have one or two units you're, probably not. Breaking. Two hundred thousand anyway it's once you Get past really tiny mom and pop that you're gonna start. Paying but I'm with you I actually was talking to somebody the other day he was like yeah I'm not gonna. Rent my unit anymore one single little unit because it's just it's too much of a hassle it's too scary. The laws are too tight so. It's time to, sell into, your point or in. Your case it was just keeping them vacant, there's gotta be balance here between the rights of renters and, the rights of property owners which is a big issue here in the United States but that's how we want to fund. Homelessness taxing landlords I just find that to be I don't know that. That's the right approach we clearly need to do more and we need to do, a lot more and we need to do, it right now But isn't that just mean there's gonna, be a..

"The blonde melissa mussa france's yes she left zia does she yeah i mean in a good by not in a weird way they are genuinely likes the oh yes he's been on the show here a couple in on our gel and like our publicist emailed us back and it's like we love ethan like oh grimmer she some nice nice could okay well i thought so too she wrote a little while sears i at this point would be worried if i was somebody who was on a show with you because like you know you argued against that one guy and he didn't even have a show after that member we leonard boulevard and public lodged as you i know i'm just think revelations start being concerned house on where the last bill o'reilly all right let's play some of this audio from last night's here with brian go on hannity on fox tomorrow i don't know you got chicago you got new york and you have philadelphia they have until october twenty seven to provide documentation that they change their ways joining us right at a reaction in chicago the see how they're going to react to this deadline is steve cortez a vaxxers contributing who is a member of the trump campaign versions house officials and in los angeles ethan bearman a california talk radio host so we'll los angeles comply ethan will california which name to solve a sanctuary state get on board absolutely nuts and there's no reason to because the laws actually on the side of the sanctuary cities if you read the actual federal law the one that the attorney general is talking about right now in the us code section a excuse me title aid section what thirteen 73 they're they're in compliance so what he is trying to do a stronger arm them this is red meat to the base there says would go all the way up to the supreme court and the attorney general would very likely lose so this is a political move not an actual legal one at this point we'll see this of dougie the others having and they go to where is their brain courts again the attorney general stumbling down is actually gonna join us tomorrow on fox friends but does ethan ever point though he does not at all or.
