"Afternoon trysts in any NFL football takes place Not here. But finally, the Rangers. We're gonna play a Pittsburgh Steelers in about three hours or so that it's amazing what's happening with the bankers go to Miami and play, which is good place to play when it's 25 degrees here, and But big story broke, I think yesterday In northern Kentucky with the Joe Deters of Kenton County is Rob Sanders about the story of Michael Dean Tate. Now 78 years old and way back on October 1st of 1970. What about 42 years ago? Allegedly raped a park hills woman. He was a traveling salesman and hey, pled guilty to, among other things, rape and sodomy and kidnapping. Plus, I want to deal with the Rob Sanders on the issues of restaurants will reopen December 14th with without Bashir's approval, What the hell's going on there with covert 19? Because Kentucky had its worst day ever yesterday, But once again, Children are largely unaffected by this, but the schools remain closed. Rob Sanders. Welcome again in the Bill Cunningham showing Rob, How are you doing? Fantastic, Willy. Thanks for having me back on you. Maybe not have been born on October. 1st of 1978. But explain what Michael Dean Tate was doing in Park Hills on or about that date. Well, I was born Willie. I was about to turn six years old. I was still five at the time. But back in October of 1978. There was a woman who was coming home from a nightclub. She hadn't parked her car in a garage just outside her house, and before she could get the garage door down. She was accosted by man that she didn't know that man forced her from her car into his car. Drove a short distance to another street in park Kills, where he proceeded to sexually assault her just a horrible, horrible sexual assault that lasted for hours. And this young woman had to beg for her life. The man told her about all the other women that he had raped and claimed to have killed And she thought for sure that she was going to die, too. Um, after begging for her life, she eventually talked her way out of the car. He let her go and took off never to be seen or heard from again. At least not for 42 years. Um Park Hills Police investigated at the time, and they collected a quite a bit of evidence, Really. But one key piece of evidence is it turned out was a fingerprint and that fingerprint was located on the victim's car. We're her assailant had shut the car door and they I ran it through a fist, which is the database of fingerprints and run through for comparison Purposes. But back in 1978 8, this was brand new. There were hardly any fingerprints that had been put into it, especially compared to how many we have now just millions and millions of sets of fingerprints now, but that fingerprint sat with no match. For the better part of four decades before the Boone County Police Cold Case unit took up the investigation. Detectives court Cox and Tim Adams were investigating an unsolved homicide in Boone County. They started looking for other cases that were similar. To their homicide case. They came across this unsolved park kills rape case and they started looking at it, and they realized that it did have a lot of similarities to their homicide case. But more importantly, That they thought that this case could be solved. They found the fingerprint that hadn't been run through a piss for decades. So they put it back into the same database. Only now this database four decades later, it's far, far bigger than it was back in the seventies. And Lo and behold, it hit On an individual by the name of Michael being paid. Mr. Tate was now 78 years old and living in Union County, Georgia. They next had to go about first finding the victim from this park Hills rape case She's 40 plus years older now and had moved far, far away. From northern Kentucky. Understandably, she didn't want to be around this area because she associated with this horrible attack on her, and the detectives flew out, met with her. Ask her about the name Michael Tate. She didn't know anybody by that name, didn't have any reason that his fingerprints would be on her car. In the detective's next set about trying to corroborate the fact that it was Mr Tape. He committed this horrible, unspeakable sexual assault and kidnapping. They found that he had never lived in the greater Cincinnati area. That really complicated the case because they're trying to figure out well, how did this finger playing? Get on? The car if he never lived here to commit this crime. What they did find out is that he had been in the greater Cincinnati area at that time because they found instances where he had been either ticketed or arrested in the greater Cincinnati area for traffic offenses or other minor Criminal offenses and that he had arrest records here. He had public records, tying him to this area. So obviously he had been here. Waiter on in the investigation. They found out that he was in fact working as a traveling salesman at the time. Would come to Cincinnati on sales calls and then traveled over to northern Kentucky to commit these crimes so that he wasn't right around where he was staying in Cincinnati, they drove down to Union County, Georgia, met with Mr Tate And eventually got a confession out of him. He admitted that not only hit he committed this rape, he didn't exactly remember the date and location of this rape, But he admitted that he had raped a woman. Near Covington in northern Kentucky. And it could have been 1978, although he wasn't for sure. But part of the reason he wasn't sure because he said he had committed so many rapes. He admitted two rapes. In multiple jurisdictions, including two states outside of Kentucky. The detectives came back here met with me. We've been actually working on this case with them for months at the time, but they came back told me what Mr Tate had admitted to. In their interview. We get an arrest warrant for Mr Tate drawn up and he was arrested the very next day by the Georgia Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Yesterday, Mr Tate entered a guilty plea as charged rape, sodomy and kidnapping. And he's going to now be in prison and Kentucky until at least he's 90 years old. It's even sentence at this point. You recommended a 12 year sentence which you put him to be 90 has he been sentenced by the judge yet? No, he's come back for formal final sentencing in front of Judge Patricia somebody on January 12th of 2021. I fully expect that she will follow that recommendation. Input Mr Tate in prison, and if he serves out he will be 90 years old if he's fortunate enough not to die in prison. Um, certainly his age is something we took into consideration. Not that we're looking to cut him any breaks, But our victim was very adamant. She didn't want to relive this nightmare and a trial. She didn't want to come back to northern Kentucky. When we balance the sentencing recommendation, and how old Mr Tape would be if he lives that long. We thought a 12 year sentence would be sufficient in order to spare the victim traveling back to northern Kentucky and having to go through a trial. You know, I I vaguely recall northern Kentucky the late seventies. Was a hot spot for clubs. Yesterday's there was there was Larry, Uh, Grouse had a big facility where Willie's was located. I bought that from him like a 1991 that there was stuff going on up and down the river front of Kentucky. So I assume the victim had partake in some of the night life. And was there some information that Irritated followed her away from the facility because I just can't imagine him showing up on a street in Park Hills, and there's an attractive young woman. Normally they would follow somebody home or you're right, Willy. We have lots of my life back then..

They have the huge bins that we have to load up because we're out in the boondocks. And then you have to walk away down and feet wise. How long's that driveway All you're good at that stuff. I have no idea. 1200 ft or so like that, maybe 30 40 yards. It's like crazy, So it's like you and it's all uphill which is great. But when you have to carry Ah been full of garbage So? So I put all the garbage because I'm listen. Listen, listen, And then I take a bungee cord and I attack Attach it to my SUV in the Vatican. Let me talk about lazy Lord and I said no. So you got I got this nice SUV and I talked my way out of the background. Falling out of that little Japanese, Maxwell So so I'm driving up. And I go. OK, Great. I got the thing attached. And I've done it before my part in, you know, And here look, it's like the wheels are grinding on the gravel. How much do you have A huge truck. Your truck is being weighed down by the garbage Can. What do you see? Thrown out on grief. So I get to the end of the driveway now where the mailboxes Oh, this is good. I had a ton of errands to do yesterday. So I go. Okay. Now I'm here. Turn around. Every piece of garbage fell out of the way all the way back down the driveway like a trail away that it was. It was like a sketch. I turned around I look, there's one bag. There's another reel of garbage. Now that would be a bad neighbor would just go. I don't see nothing. What do I do? I kept a car that I said I can't. I walk back the whole entire lives picking up individual. Pieces of surprised you didn't have you knowing the sweeper and you have the little thing you sweep the dust. I'm surprised you never in the car and just backed the car up to try and pick all this stuff. No, I so I took every cent. So now now I'm walking back. I made twice as much work for myself. I pick up every piece of garbage and then I'm now walking down holding all this garbage. And I got eye because you got to clean up for the neighbors, you know? And and I put it all back in and then get But now when you put the top back on, you have to check this out out in the country. The raccoons will get it. The Coyotes will get it. We're listen to bear Willie of Dalia Abd el. Any Martians? Willetts 2020 margins may land the garbage eating Martians may land and eat my garbage so So I took and I take this. You know, there's a the end anti bacterial spray which everyone should carry in the car. You know, I do. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And I spray you have to spray the whole been down, man, and I had my gloves on. So everything was sanitary. But oh, my God. I was exhausted. But and then I had to go to City hall your city or because you know it. They actually put in the voting drop voting with the drop box. They finally put it Isa cemented in. I am amazing at work. So I took about them and insecure alley voted. I voted, and we voted in that drop box. I hope there's no shenanigans on that day. Hopefully the box was in the garbage can so you should get away by garbage with garbage in the ballot box. Man I think you should get. I think you should get somebody to install in your car. A hand sanitizer. Like Who? The hose. So like your writing by you can host people down with, you know, you can pose the car down when they say back. There is probably right out First Rabbit idea again, but it doesn't sting. It's fine. Gil keeps them clean. You know what? Your car like a little just a little hand sanitizer. That's actually a great idea. It's a good idea. What? You just pressed something. And he goes because rather than always reaching for something, so no. Then then I go. Then I get I got the I didn't get a dog's license. So now listen to me. This is this is my life is exciting, but I don't have a relationship. So so I put the vote clean the garbage and then they go vote And then I got my bike in the back as I pop the chain and I got to go get that fixed. So so But then I goto Tio. Go to City Hall. I got a little town wall. Beautiful, wonderful people, beautiful community gonna tell you like like in the middle. It could be Idaho. The wait is that in jersey out there So so I go in and I go. I am here for Otis is license. Oh, you know, Kim is the girl that runs a great gals you Kim is at lunch now. It's like three o'clock in the afternoon. I guess I know it's scalable over grand alive. Listen, listen, listen. So so he goes. Now His guitar is sticking out where I can get my bike and a car. Why me? What? And it's what about social distancing and he's not wearing a mask on and now it's a beautiful pristine, so he didn't get a bucolic town in beautiful of western New Jersey. Get the hell out of my way. I'm glad you're doing well. Let the stars went. Breyer Lil that's blessing Also what do you think the difference is GonNa be ed where US having Lane Kiffin in the state having might late in the this last recruiting by we have gone so far different things and and also I know you obviously think it's GonNa be fun for maybe your days everything else coming forward but do you think that She has the talent we have come back that coach give him. It's going to be a little too around and make to make us legitimate legitimate contend birch. Bayh at least maybe a third in the West. I mean it's tough so it's going to be as it is already Joseph I I don't know if it's going to be that quick but you know. Forget the fun part Art Lane. Kiffin is a good for a good head football coach. He's got away with the recruiting that I think will benefit ole miss and leeches. Just a really sharp play quote play caller. And I think you'll make an impact On on state NATO is I think the state is in much better shape than it was. I think both coaches are a significant upgrade. And I think it'll be fun Joe Moorhead was not fun. The guy was sleepy and I mean he was a good football coach. Fundamentally he just couldn't relate very well to to recruit and I think he missed a few along the way and I think he was a little stubborn in putting a system together. But I think it's GonNa be quite an exciting time. Greg is up next. Hey Greg they politics taking my call I heard I may ask call. And that has to be the call of the year before he just laid it out like no one else does does and I appreciate it every time he calls. I know some people. Don't get on sometimes but there's a method to it's madness and he goes a long way back with you. I know that and he and I talk off off the air Yeah people in the show was. I'm an was as a the this the moment. The show went beyond Birmingham. As you know the show has many iterations it was a local show In the early two thousand expanded around the state of Alabama and When we went to Montgomery I'm am became a regular caller? I think it was two thousand. Is anyone and that was really one of the most important evolutions of the show when it began to become a statewide and then a regional show Yeah he I got to meet him. You know Tammy screen role and we talked for a bit Four and after and and he's a really good guy and and to answer a question you asked earlier when that Georgia fan called and the and there was a new Orleans spent or the LSU fan beforehand. Dan The only reason they're calling you on the air to ask those questions is for affirmation they want you to agree with whatever they're gonNA say and that guy was dumbfounded when you call them out on it because he knew he didn't have a leg to stand on. He just wanted you to you know ninety people that call just want you to agree with everything. They're going to go to sound like a know it all here because I'm really not but one thing I do know having done this. A couple years I know in a caller is doing matt so I can go one or two ways I can just roll over like the lead Dog Obedience Training School and you know stick my tongue out and Pant Han an act like I'm enthralled with his Logic or I can maybe challenge him on it well and those of us who have listened to you long enough and no you. No when you're being sarcastic in those instances and sometimes you just gotTa lay it out like you did today and so I do hope that Matt Ah made his last prediction for this year My prediction on mad. Is that it that it isn't the last one. Because he'll call you when they lose their first game and yes I do understand. This is a talk show and we were blessed to have fans from all over the country calling in and in and we want that and I would never discourage that what I don't like our when callers just have no sense of reality because this is not a local show Joe in in college station Texas where everything is catered to a certain fan base and if you call up and genuinely believed that A. and M. is going to be undefeated seated. Just give me a reason Don't give me the same reasons you gave me last year that you thought they were going to be undefeated and they went seven and five Well to your Credit Paul you always ask people to tell you are when they give you something like that. And most of the time. They're not capable so so one of these days Matt is going to call up and say here's why I was wrong about that but I'm right about this but maybe I should just shut up. Maybe I shouldn't interfere with scholars like that. Because if I didn't interfere greg they would be off the phone sooner. We are win win right heading to a break where we do a lot of serious drinking during the five minutes. We're way you're listening to the Paul Finebaum show podcast. Welcome back. Glad you're here and it's been a crazy show but Why Not John is in Huntsville? Alabama Hello John Hey man. How's it going his great thank you? Well I was just calling to ask you a question I'm an Lsu fan by the way and You know I heard a lot about the defensive coordinator positions in the top of You know who you should be hired and there's a lot of talk about both leany but you know you know that's not gonNA happen but As far as my my intake on it you know I believe Corey reitman would be a good thing you know. Lsu Defensive Back Oh he's produced a lot of you know great DB's over the year and then they're under Dave Aranda for the last four years and I think he learned a lot and I think thank you be known. LSU's best interest you know as far as keeping it in house because they have a system that they have in place and you've seen a dramatic change from last year's offense the dishes offense dentures defend and I I just I just think keeping it in house would be a good thing for. Lsu what is your take on it. I think this this late in the process and what I mean by that is. It's pretty late in the year. Internal internal move would be good and and I think knowing that odor on and and you know I'm the same way that would probably be the way he goes here. Yeah Yeah I agree I mean I hope it goes that way. I just like to see how we would do. Keeping it in house You know does Ron getting that. You know six year contract forty two million dollars worth you. Know we've got time to keep the program going but what what but one other question I got a and it's just a fun question you hear a lot of talk about CLEMSON schedule being assault as it is and there's really no competitors or competition as far Clinton. It's kind of sad to say that you know as of right now you can bet your heard bottom dollar that you're going to see Clinton in the playoffs again next year. What would you think would happen? It's just for fun again if cliff somewhat to move over to the FCC and and play an SEC schedule each year do you think they'll still be the playoff contenders national contender or you think You Know Dabo swinney would Kinda crumble under that pressure well I think they would certainly be legitimate. I think this year they would have been in the playoffs and I think last year they would have as well. Now I say that having the factor in the SEC championship game. But but I think I think Clemson's program right now is good enough that they would do extremely really well in the SEC. Now we're where they where they would get in trouble is that one game That they always seem to have a little problem with now. They didn't last year but this year. The the Game Chapel Hill had they been anywhere. I mean at six ray places in the SEC. They probably would have lost that game. Now I think they still could have gotten in Dan but you know the difference in the SEC. Is You have to win the SEC championship. Game so That's that's that's unpredictable But I think I think they would Depending on what side of the of the ledger they were on. I think they would be in. Good shape This year I think they definitely would have made it. Mike is in making when you're on the air. Hey Mike play ball. Thank you for taking my call that clown zone earlier talking about Kirby on the hot seat I I'll tell you where he comes from from them. They're still like the small little mark. Richt deep state that exists in Georgia fan base. That still can't get over the fact that rick got fired at somebody else's place no matter who it is Mike. I explain this to me and I I know some people think I lost my mind on that call. I didn't I I was just trying to make a point and by the way I will never tell a fan days what to think..

"Can they even mix in with those guys? You know, I I think what we saw. Last year where the unions win, the central and they got swept by the Astros unfortunate. But I may be the case again right now. The Union's probably have as good a rotation as there is in. Yeah. I mean, Corey kluber Trevor Bauer Mike club injure Carlos Carrasco. So that's what's gonna win them some gains. But I'll tell you what their outfield right now. Right now the way it looks right now, and they just signed Carlos Gonzalez late in the spring so ill eventually mix. And but I mean, it looks like they're opening day outfield. You know and feel free to interrupt me. If you're up close and familiar with any of these guys. Probably Jake Bowers Tyler NAACP Quin Leonis Martine. Maybe Bradley Zimmer nobody that exactly scares you in that outfield. So they're they're saying there, but the pitching, well, it's by the way, this guy will end on that note and Bradley Zimmer USF, Don, there's the guy we're familiar with. "He's a top ten tight end play. For us this week. He's got fifteen targets over his past two games. Who knows if Dougherty Nelson's going to play on Sunday? The only reason I mentioned Jordy Nelson. Is that like if you're in a super deep league like someone might make the case for Marcel eightman after four catches last week and potentially some more work on Sunday, but the raiders are largely fantasy irrelevant. The ravens though are more interesting. Joe flacco looks unlikely to play this weekend's to funding. Are we that far with his hip injury? Yeah. I just don't think we're going to say they haven't had to issue. A report yet. You know, the ravens tell us nothing. But I just don't get the sense, especially the Marge Ackson one talk into the media. I mean, there's just a feeling that besides John Harbaugh did say one thing he said it's going to be tough that was immediately after last week's game which says to me now that he's a little bit more confident and Lamar Jackson just after that. It was okay to let us know that it's going to be tough for flacco to get finding one last question about Joe flacco hip. Does it lie? No, okay. I know where you're going with that trying to think of some clever like other line from the song that I could use was just no hips. Don't lie. Yeah. I think that was the correct? According to Twitter, by the way, sixty five percent say hips don't lie that was the ultimate. Here's a huge fan of the oh, six Ono fact total. Shomar Jackson weirdly, more of a fan of you in Ivan's to find. I thought that was odd. The night when she comes ten this. Lamar Jackson is a top fifteen quarterback play for us on the ESPN dot com rankings. The raiders are allowing league high six point six yards per play. And we know Mark Jackson gonna get plenty of run with his legs as well. These really interesting compelling because of that flexibility. I don't know how much the offense will change this week for the ravens, but the low volume passing things seems to persist. So the question Matthew is is there any Raven's pass catcher that you can feel confident mean like we barely have Michael Crabtree. And John Brown and Willie Snead ranked bear Willie seat is the highest ranked amongst all those players, but. We feel sure that just because he got the most targets last week that he is the one Raven's pass catcher you want to start this week too. Yes suppose. So I think there's just there's this kind of higher floor here for Willie snood who's had at least seven targets and seven straight games. Had a forty four percent target chair. I mean, if forty four percent target share with Lamar Jackson and his first start in week eleven so I don't feel confident in any of these guys. I think they run all over to them. I think it's a lot of them are Jackson. I think it's a, you know, it's outs Collins and Gus Edwards. But it's. But yes, if I have to start a pass catcher, it's Willie Snead Crabtree and Brown could easily get into the end zone, but they don't profile as people that are going to get a significant targets here..

We are talking about athletes who become actors athletes who try to act some who who do it. Well, some who nets. Not so much, and it's amazing. How many athletes have turned to acting and there's a lot of them. And that's what we're talking about. Three one nine eight one seven two hundred here is L J on WGN. Hi eljay. No. How you been man? We do it. All right doing. All right. Good. Yeah. Staying in the same vein with Rosie Greer number of football players came to mind. Going back to what you strolled. Yeah. Yeah. Williamson Freddie, Williamson Fred Williamson. Jim brown. Yup. Yeah. All those guys and Fred Williamson, by the way, which is in my favorite blaxploitation movie of all time, which is. Oh hell up in Harlem. Black caesar. That's my favorite blaxploitation movie of all time. And he's in a bunch of great ones, man. He was in from dusk. Fred Williamson is awesome. I love I love the hammer. He's he's one of the best, man. Yeah. You also ahead loan. Yup. Yeah. The Super Bowl bears Willie. Go. He tried real hard. Really been anything way. Go hold on golf tried to act. Will you try to act? Up before Stephen love football that that was gonna be like flow. Much like. Yeah. They they were already talking about the act of the crew careers before they finish. Didn't even man I had no idea that Willie Gault was going to was going to pursue acting. I had no idea. He was in a cameo appearances in a couple of different movie. Wow. He played like a newscaster. In the background. The TV was on in the background. Reading the doom. I looked at it with a look that up. And I mean, I think he arrested a lot of money both before and after he left football. But it does vary. All right, L J. Thanks. Thanks, man. Yeah. Let's check out your buddy. According to Wikipedia played Willie the sweeper and the NBC series of the pretender. He was on the sitcom still standing we have to send this audio to my friend, Scott oaken, all time favorite bear. Oh, I'm sorry. Go ahead. Sitcom still standing played himself as the father of tina's friend. He had a few appearances on neds declassified school survival guide. What I don't even know what that is. Apparently was on an episode of parental control as well. Well, Willie Gault I had never heard that before L J. Do you ever? Did you ever hear Willie gold tried to act? Nope. That is hilarious. Here is Tom on WGN. Hi, tom. He's doing there. I know. Right. I got one for you, Alex Karras in blazing saddles mongo. He's mongo. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, mongo just pawn in game of life, one of my favorite one of my favorite lines ever. But he was also on Webster. He played Webster's dad. He was on. He was he was actually Alex Karras had a pretty successful career. You know, what we'll be? He's great. Against all odds with Rachel Rachel ward. No, Rachel ward and Jeff bridges. Okay. He's great in that movie. And it was funny on Webster. And he's and he's of course, always going to be remembered as mongo though, no question about it. All right, Tom. Thanks, man. We go. Yeah. Alex karras? So that was his real life wife who he co starred with on western Webster was a big hit. He was on that show for a long time. Yeah. Alex Karras had a had had a very successful acting career. And and really seriously, Alex Karras. Is one of the classic characters in any comedy ever made. I mean mongo is one of the greatest comedic characters of all time, and one of the things that I love about that is that you know, Richard Pryor has a writing credit on on. On blazing saddles and a lot of people because there's all the all the all the ton of racial stuff in in. He blazing saddles a lot of people just assume that Richard Pryor wrote a lot of that stuff. Like, that's what he wrote. He Richard Pryor loved all the mongo stuff. He wrote most of the mongo stuff a lot of people when you see when you see blazing saddles you think. Yeah. Of course, Richard Pryor helped write this movie considering some of the content racially, but he wrote the mongo stuff he wrote mongo pawn game of life, which is one of my favorite. We gotta take a break. We're talking to athletes who became actors here on seven twenty WGN in the news is coming up after.
