Southbound Connecticut, Bradley, there had been a wreck, also southbound three 55 or Rockville pike may find delays headed past the beltway. It's a single left lane getting by that work zone. In Virginia on the George Washington Parkway delays northbound after one 23 and southbound after one 23 as well, both directions of the single lane, getting by the work, 95 in Virginia, southbound slopes crossing the Aquaman, a little volume in Stafford after courthouse road, northbound seeing a little bit of a delay after two 34 in dumfries. This was reportedly a work crew along the right side. And in the district southbound D.C. two 95, the volume now from burrows past these capital street at the lanes should be open. All travel lanes have been brought to a stop, traffic had been traveling on the eastbound span one lane in each direction as they do work on the westbound span that works out is still in place as we can tell. Now checking in my cameras looks like we're getting some traffic moving once again as you make your way from to and from stevensville on the eastern shore of the bridge, but again, following police direction expect delays the crash activity on the eastbound span of the bay bridge, you only have one lane in each direction, so you may be alternating across the bay bridge. Elsewhere in Maryland the earlier crash on the inner loop of the capitol bellway near Richie Marlborough road, that has been cleared. All traveling to have been reopened and that's now much again back up to scratch on 95 and on the BW Parkway, we are quiet. We go to Virginia, check our work zone on the inner loop near gallows road heading toward I 66 still moving past the work single file to the right. This is overhead work, see a big old crane there, and when they have to move that crane over the highway, they've got to bring traffic to a stop, so it expects stoppages coming out of the Springfield interchange, trying to get toward Tyson's outer loop work off the American legion bridge, getting past the GW Parkway doing so fairly quietly with no reported delays, single left is how you're doing it. 66 the westbound work zones all still in place. After the capitol beltway to the left in a single file after the oaks exit 57 for route 50 you're over to the right in a single file then after suddenly wrote back over to the left single file past the work heading toward Gainesville. Okay, that could be what we were listening for 50 in Maryland, leaving the bay bridge westbound very heavy very slow after bayda driver before route two, I think what sounds like may have this crash may have cleared over on completely to the right shoulder. If anything was left there, I think it is over on that right shoulder. It had been blocking two right lanes to do be very careful. Now you are going to find we've got some sort of a new issue on the bridge itself. 50 westbound follow those overhead lane control signals right now. There is a red X, lit over the far right lane. 50 at the bay bridge, we've got limited wind restrictions in effect. New Hampshire avenue north before adelphi wrote an earlier crash, 75 closed in Monrovia up in Frederick county, south of Baldwin wrote down near the railroad crossing, the crash struck the overpass and maybe shut down for an extended period of time. Now we've got an issue on the beltway inner loop between three 55 and Connecticut avenue, a crash along the right side of the roadway, and the earlier activity sounding like it was near New Hampshire avenue. There'd been some slowing exiting toward I 95. That seems to have cleared out. Topside add loop remains slow from 95 toward Georgia avenue, two 70s below the posted coming out of Germantown riding down toward Rockville, slow traffic at the lane divide, headed south toward old Georgetown road M three 55, and at the bottom end of the spur, leaving democracy boulevard to get on to the outer loop. 29 up near route 100, we've got a crash reported in elegant city. Now watch out in Virginia 95 north were slow, trying to get out of a quiet moving into dumfries after two 34, crash shouldered left, all travel lanes now open, the rest of the ride north you're looking good into Springfield, a little bit of a delay leaving the inner loop Springfield interchange, headed up toward Braddock road and two 36. Inbound on the Clara Barton Parkway delays after Macarthur boulevard trying to make your way toward the chain bridge, watch for any work on possibly the outbound chain bridge that has a tendency to back things up like this. Again, that is now on the westbound side of the bay bridge with a left lane is blocked in the reversible lane so keep that in mind if you're traveling across that westbound span. No problems being reported on the beltway as your role in Montgomery county, but through prince George's county on the Arab neighbor Juan college park, almost street sweeping crew blocking the left side of the roadway outer loop, leaving Bethesda headed into Virginia across the American legion bridge where solid and delays, the work zone, two of them set up past the GW Parkway blocking the right lane than before the dulles toll road, the second one blocked the right lane as well. And i think it would have been very influential and possibly change. The course of how other bridges subsequent to it would have been designed but rights vision for that. I san francisco skyscraper just as he never got a commission to design another bay bridge in the late nineteen forties. Right was competing for projects all across the country. A bay area engineer and fan of rights suggested he throw his hat in the ring for proposed second bay bridge. If there was some project that he found interesting he would do the design and then just hope it would get bill and he could promoted. You'd hoping we'll get that was in nineteen forty nine and right would spend the rest of his life the last decade trying to win over decision makers in california because he fell in love with his own proposal which he called the butterfly bridge the structure had the form of the action wings of a butterfly in reinforced concrete news. It's beautiful sculptural form when you look at the drawings that he did. I can't say. I see the butterfly in the butterfly bridge. I say well this is a family program. Okay from overhead. People driving across the bridge could pull off into this landscape park and enjoy the views of from hypol- kind of crazy idea. That traffic going across the bay would stop. And there'd be enough room for parking and but that was the idea but right couldn't get the state to adopt the plan. The engineers in sacramento. We're able to say well. It's just not worked out in enough detail. We don't think it's gonna work it's too radical and very much but no thanks exactly and of course no bridge was was was built at all they ultimately they decided it wasn't necessary because a few years later people started talking about barred under the bay and so that became the solution to this traffic. Right call that idea suicidal which will turns out to be. An overstatement is the transbay tube is still going strong after more than forty years. But even as he neared the end of his life right never stopped trying to sell his bridge here. He is in his mid eighties making a pitch on k. "Box truck drove through the guard rails on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel earlier today and went over the side into the bay. The Coast Guard and firefighters have been searching the cold water for the driver, Wavy TV and Norfolk says it happened near Virginia's Eastern shore about a 20. "My name is Meghan Sacks criminologist at Fairleigh Dickinson University. In simplest terms criminology is the scientific study of what causes crime and how the criminal justice system. Response. To crime. Ridden about twenty, five true crime books over the years and I think many maguire is perhaps one of the most interesting ones and baffling. This is Melanie. McGuire arrested today minutes after dropping offer children in daycare. Melanie, McGuire a New Jersey nurse was accused of killing her husband cutting up his body and throwing it into the Chesapeake Bay. In two thousand, seven, what was being called? The suitcase murder trial was generating an enormous amount of media attention, not just in New Jersey, but all across the country three bazaar discoveries, three separate suitcases, all containing human remains the woman who is on trial for her very life. She says the real truth behind the crime has never been revealed with no history of violence and no apparent motive for murder. Could she really have done it? She was this beautiful young nurse and they were the seemingly normal middle class couple and the murder happened in such a grisly way. The idea that this beautiful nurse could have actually killed her husband and then cut him up is just incredible. Of course, they were salacious aspects. Maguire is a nurse and prosecutors say she had an affair with a doctor. She didn't fit the profile I. Guess of a murderer over the years and colleagues of ours have come to me and said, you know Melanie McGuire proclaims her innocence and to tell her story I started thinking Oh maybe there is a little more to this case than what you see on the surface and then the idea podcast came up and I was all in on direct appeal examined the murder conviction of Melanie, McGuire him following a highly publicized trial looking at the evidence that was presented and the evidence that may have seemed insignificant at the time before own conclusion about Melanie's guilt. We hear at ABC have our own history with the Melanie. McGuire case back in two thousand, seven ABC's Cynthia McFadden had the first on camera interview at the mother of two on trial for murdering her husband. Who was the Melanie? McGuire you hope to jury. knows. The one who tried to take care of everybody. Who didn't make the smartest decisions but admitted to those mistakes? To the people she trusted most. But. Did Not admit what what she's acute stuff. I have been incarcerated for twelve and a half going on thirteen years now. Do. You still insist that you're innocent. Absolutely. You're sitting here. Early morning a couple of fishermen and the kids are out on a boat by the Chesapeake Bay. Me and my friend Don Connors was going to go out fishing and we both had days off D. or Don. We Call Them D. said, keep his kids out of school. We're GONNA take him fishing. Everybody was excited. We went right out this bridge here. and to keep on going you run right in the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. In the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel is seventeen and a half miles long. It really is quite astonishing. It connects the eastern shore of Virginia to Virginia Beach has two tunnels, two shipping channels, and then once you get on the other side, you go North into Maryland Delaware New Jersey.
