He then sat back down when the jury walked out of the room, he was whispering with his lawyers, he While was nodding a he wasn't very emotional his parents were holding each other and his dad doubled over at one point. There is absolutely no equivocation here we have to stay Israel. with And Republican Congressman Tom Cole says there are different paths to get the aid. On the economic front, Nathan, a busy week concludes with the October jobs report. a preview We get with Bloomberg's Michael McKee. Which means markets will parse the October jobs report trying to determine what it signals. Is hiring still much stronger than what's needed to absorb an increasing labor force? Have higher interest rates led companies to pull back on hiring or even start letting people go? Are companies still paying up to attract workers? "What are your favorite going sectors into year -end and beyond? Well, look, as yields fall, for I think the near term, at least tech stocks still can hold up well. This is also a period of time after the last hike and before the first cut, that stocks tend to do okay, so I don't necessarily see a huge drawdown unless there's some exogenous shock. But going into 2024, I think that we need, if the bull case comes true, we need some broadening out in the equity market. I am still nervous about a drawdown. I am worried that we're going to get data that cools it too much. So I would be cautious and goals so I would still be looking at things like consumer staples. I think the utilities trade is okay. If you're looking for growth but you don't want that rate sensitivity, I think healthcare is a good place to be and I do think that we a see resurgence in energy stocks because supply will continue to get cut. Interesting final point. Liz, thank you. I'm going to catch up with you as always. Liz Young there of SoFi and this equity market in Stuart Kaiser's corner over a city said of much the same thing. Be careful what you wish for. When the economy starts to slow down, the data goes too far, then he's going the other way, in other the direction. Which is essentially JP Morgan's call and they're going to be pilloried because of how far they're going with exactly the price 4200 target. Nonetheless, the rationale is actually pretty consistent across Wall Street. It's just a matter of how that translates to markets. If you're just joining the program, welcome. I'll get you up to speed on the scores briefly on the S &P. We're negative here by 0 .2%. Now, with the latest news from New York City and around the world, here's Michael Barr. Lisa, John, Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Dubai today for the COP28 climate talks. Blinken announced the U .S. is among the more than 130 countries signing a new landmark COP resolution that tackles the relationship between what we eat and the changing climate. Earlier, Secretary Blinken was in Tel Aviv when fighting resumed between Israel and Hamas today after a seven -day truce. Bloomberg's Ed Baxter reports Blinken delivered a message to Israel about war conduct going forward. While Blinken says the U .S. stands with Israel, conduct is very important. The way Israel defends itself matters. It's imperative Israel that acts in accordance with international humanitarian law and the laws of war, even when confronting a terrorist group that respects neither. Blinken says the U .S. will help Israel in its effort to eradicate Hamas but civilians should not be paying a heavy price. Ed Baxter, Bloomberg Radio. Meanwhile, a new bombshell report claims Israel had intelligence about the Hamas attack months before October 7th. In a stunning report from the New York Times, Israeli officials say that they had the Hamas battle plan in their hands for more than a year before hundreds of Hamas fighters stormed into Israel and slaughtered more than 1200 people. According to the Times, the Hamas plan was dismissed by the Israelis, who believed it would be too difficult for Hamas to carry it out. Live from the Bloomberg Interactive Brokers Studios. Let's talk about a few more, specifically robotics. What's appealing to you and what's exciting to you, what do you see as investment opportunities for robotics? Well, I think everyone thinks robots have been around forever, and they kind of have, but they've been locked in cages inside auto companies and so what we have now is really the dawn of the age of robotics. It's really going to happen because of battery technology and artificial intelligence. And we're talking about industrial robots. Amazon is adding 1000 robots per day. And by the year 2030, we think they will that Amazon will have more robots than people. Why is this happening? Well, as always with technology, the technology is ready. And even more important, the costs are low enough now. Really, AI battery technology critically important. So we think we're going to see a lot of robots rolling

"Has been guaranteed good morning Leon Caroline good morning and thank you and let's start with a war in Ukraine which is escalating and the road to congressional approval for U.S. president Joe Biden's $33 billion relief bill for the country may not be easy Bloomberg's Ed Baxter has that story The Ukraine part has broad support across Congress but it risks getting snarled in his ask for COVID funding and immigration The Senate could vote on the emergency spending next week but the house will be on recess So Congress could finish by the week of May 9 and send it to the president but if Democrats insist on attaching long stalled funding for vaccinations and immigration costs it could be delayed indefinitely Biden did urge Democrats to pass them together In San Francisco I met Baxter Bloomberg daybreak Europe Now the mayor of Kyiv says authorities still can not guarantee safety to residents hoping to return after Russian forces pulled back from the outskirts of Ukraine's capital Vitali Klitschko has told Bloomberg TV the exodus of businesses and people has already caused a hit of at least a $1 billion to the city's budget We can't guarantee the safety in capital just a week ago The Russian record in buildings in our hometown and 5 civilians is dead Meanwhile several Russian strikes have hit key as a UN secretary general Antonio Guterres is in the city for talks with president Vladimir zelensky and a British national has been killed in Ukraine in a second person is missing Scott silby was believed to be fighting with Ukrainian forces in either Mario pole or elsewhere in the Donbass In earnings news Apple grew faster than expected last quarter generating record sales of a non holiday period sales and profit topped estimates fueled by strong demand for the iPhone and digital services where the company announcing $90 billion in new stock buybacks but the tech giant is warning supply constraints especially chip shortages could cost it four to $8 billion in revenue during the current quarter And Elon Musk is said to have floated the idea of cutting costs and jobs at Twitter in his talks with banks to leave over the social media giant Bloomberg understands he discussed ideas to monetize a platform in boost cash flow including potential subscription services Meanwhile filings show the Tesla's CEO sold about $4 billion worth of shares in the electric carmaker since announcing his deal to buy a Twitter Global news 24 hours a day on air and on Bloomberg quicktake powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in will then 120 countries I'm Leanne gerrans this is Bloomberg And I'm actually staying with you all and that is to interview One of my colleagues Sarah rap and she's going to be speaking about the iconic Camden venue coco which is reopening today after three years of closures and a 70 million pound revamp and she has been speaking to the CEO that's Ollie Ben go Sarah it's Friday night It's a bank holiday on Monday Do you know what I'm getting at It's Friday night Entertainment is back Yeah And you know this is such an iconic venue I remember going here 15 years ago I absolutely love live music It was just something that was so exciting So tell us about the redevelopment of the venue in what it means Yes after a fire flooding in the pandemic coco is opening its doors again tonight And this is an iconic theater as you said yet people like Amy Winehouse performing the libertines Prince did his last show there in 2015 And it was historic as well Charlie Chaplin used to do shows there when it was a Victorian theater and not maybe the known for gigs as it is now But they poured so much money into the 70 million pounds Over three years of development and they had a lot of problems along the way the iconic dome caught fire in 2020 and took 60 firefighters and cabin to put it out And that set things back a little bit and then there was the pandemic When you obviously can't have gigs in live music during the London lockdowns But it's back tonight and arcade fire is reopening the doors It's sold out but there's going to be a thousand shows a year so if you can't get in tonight you can get in some other time Well I'll definitely want to get in I've not even heard of arcade fire I feel like since the last 15 years I've definitely got all the touch It'll be a nice night No absolutely But what else is new So I know that you went to see the venue so what else is can we expect And what is the CEO saying It's been in the upscale revamp as well so you have the original theater which with English heritage it looks the same and to keep those historical aspects of it But they've added four stories onto the building For a members club called House of cocoa a little bit like a solo house type venue We have to apply But music lovers are going to find this amazing because we can get early access You can go down secret staircases to watch gigs from a different standpoint They have a vinyl listening room that looks like a Victorian train carriage They have a special jazz spaces to listen to like secret performances So you can see an artist on stage and then see them in a smaller venue as well If you're a member now So I love this story I love your reporting on it You've got beautiful photographs of it on the Bloomberg terminal I mean this speaks to and the reason I like this story is kind of London regeneration This is my stomping ground has to be said I'm any few minutes down the road from coca No really well So I've seen the hoarding up there for years and now it's all going to be revealed And I also think as you say it's really interesting in terms of London's iconic buildings that are being revamped from the inside out and Camden is just a classic for that that you see the facades of the buildings and behind all is modern So I guess COVID's over for London I mean we're going into a cost of living crisis where people come and pay the money I think they're sure hoping that Caroline like you said in Camden it's an iconic building I know you spoke to the architects in November when they were still working on the building And they said everyone who has come to London who loves live music knows the venue And I think they're hoping that people will be back and willing to go out and enjoy time to gather in person again The communal experience the CEO says unique communal in person entertainment But there's also a streaming spaces as well because all modern artists want to connect with their fans who can't be with them in person Bloomberg Sarah rapp thank you so much for joining us this morning and bringing us all the latest on the revamped cocoa which is due to open tonight and arcade fire will become the first band in three years to play a show at London's historic venue which is of course Caroline's local and old stomping crowd So we might all have to go there together girls Tom McKenzie There we go Yes because we can't be well privileged thank you Yeah they're a little slightly lighter That's wonder there Yes You have to come Actually my local is really the roundhouse if you know The ram house is fantastic Beautiful Theater and live event space and it is Anyway Sarah is great stuff Love the piece on the terminal Thanks so much for that Yeah that's lightened by mood then this Friday On which note let's turn to that cost of living crisis that I mentioned in the UK that is worsening The latest survey this morning from Lloyd's banking group highlighting that almost 6 in ten companies are expecting that they'll have to raise prices as costs and wages go up It's a problem for the government too under pressure to help more We spoke to the conservative MP Simon hall on Bloomberg Westminster and asked him whether he thinks that the government is now on the back foot on this cost of living and cost of energy concern I think we've been slow to it I think that is true But that doesn't necessarily mean that future progress has to be slow I mean I think you're right.

"In bucha is not the random act of a rogue unit It's a deliberate campaign to kill the torture to rape To commit atrocities And blinken says it will all be documented and reported in San Francisco I met Baxter Bloomberg daybreak Europe Meanwhile in a virtual speech she called the task of reducing inflation pressures paramount for the fed brainard didn't say whether she supports a half a point hiking may but said she's open to stronger action if that is needed And COVID cases in England last month reached their highest since the pandemic began the increase was driven by a more transmissible omicron sub variant and waning immunity among older adults Imperial college in London's Paul Elliott says although they are not seeing a significant rise in hospital admissions we should be prepared for those numbers to increase There is a worry that with very very large numbers of older people who are more vulnerable and more likely to go to hospital with the very high infection rates that we're seeing in that group that some of that might spill over into more serious illness The highest rates of infection were in primary school age children and those over 55 years old Global news 24 hours a day on air and on Bloomberg quicktake powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in 120 countries I'm leann gerrans this is Bloomberg Caroline Thank you so much With our top stories yes COVID cases in the UK really rampant And now of course under primary school a student can be vaccinated So that's the next leg in terms of the story of vaccinating young children in Britain Thanks so much Leigh Anne garnes with our top stories Also you were mentioning the U.S. EU G 7 are coordinating more sanctions against Russia and as they do that A direct meeting now between Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's vlogmas zelensky is looking increasingly difficult That was the word used by the Ukrainian president's deputy chief of staff illegal who was speaking to Bloomberg's Maria todayo Now she asked him whether the atrocities in butcher now jeopardise the chances really of any ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia and how Ukraine's government is going to respond All the world has seen this act of brutality acts of violence genocides against Ukrainian people not only in bush by the way but in some neighboring cities like the cities of urbino costume and in borogan The world has changed I think There will never tolerate what Russian R forces commanded by Russian politicians did in Ukraine They simply hate Ukrainians and they want those Ukrainians as well as Ukrainian cities to be devastated to be wiped out from the ground from the world Which will never happen So now current currently the main task for all the international community is to bring those responsible for these atrocities to immediate international justice That's why my president has already announced the creation of special task force in Ukraine who will be dealing in already dealing with fixing those are war crimes bringing them to relevant institutions and supervising the process of bringing those responsible to justice This regard we need to support the international community and we already turn to our partners worldwide to help us with the relevant experts with the analytics experience with our own people lawyers human rights protectors who know how to deal with this such cases because yes it is not the worst the first four in the world which has the atrocities of that kind But this is probably the hardest The most difficult atrocities in the 21st century in the middle of Europe near the capital of Ukraine and definitely those who are responsible for those animals those these should be brought to punishment and justice And of course you say that the Russia based on what you just told me this is Russia that hates everything that is Ukraine and everything that Ukraine stands for you yourself you say these people are animals So I wonder at this point is there even a diplomatic way forward because I can imagine that at this point is very difficult to sit on a table with the Russian counterparts and talk about a diplomatic solution to this Can you still have these talks When my brother was asked about this his reaction was you know it's really hard to speak after that atrocities with any Russia official political representative You have to understand that another possible unfortunate examples of atrocities can be revealed later when we start to liberate some cities we just see besieged but my president told that we have to continue these diplomatic talks Ukrainian delegation has to talk with the Russian official representative Because we want to bring peace to my country Secondly we want to establish conditions when those atrocities and those barbaric acts when those aggression should never happen neither against Ukraine Nor against any other European country So that was the Ukrainian president's deputy chief of staff Speaking to Bloomberg's Maria tadeo on the somber situation of course we have seen Vladimir zelensky speaking to the UN in terms of the newspaper headlines here in the UK a lot of them picking up on the Ukraine president's address Saying that the UN should stop Vladimir Putin that's the lead of the telegraph and if the UN can't it should dissolve itself Meanwhile The Guardian leads with the renewed demands for Russian leaders to face a war crimes tribunal There are other headlines though in the newspapers this morning quite a few different stories making it onto the front pages including the channel for the sell off of channel four the idea that that deal may have to be sweetened has been a real backlash against the idea of privatizing that public sector broadcaster here in the UK so they could be quite a lot of political competition hurdles for that Also they're making newspaper headlines this morning The COVID case jump that Leon gorons was talking about Leon you're here in the studio I thought I'd mention this There is a real worry now given that the march numbers were so high particularly for those aged over 55 and younger children that we don't have COVID testing for free at the moment in the UK I mean the idea that that could be reversed the bill for.

Europe's richest football division is heating up football club Bloomberg understands three groups mainly of American investors are on that short list but of course it's about more than money the government has to sign off on this too Joining us now is professor Simon Chadwick who is director of the center for Eurasian sports Simon good to have you on I mean you've got deep knowledge about the business of sports So just for the record the money how much do you think it could sell for before we get on to the issue of who signs off for it in the UK government Obviously this is to a certain extent This is a little bit a little bit of a fire sale And so there was an initial speculation that the sum of money that Chelsea would go for would be relatively low but the speculation is intensified over recent weeks and at one stage there were even reports of there being over 200 expressions of interest We're clearly down to a much smaller number than that but this speculation that potentially this could be the most expensive or the most valuable football club sale ever And figures of over 3 billion pounds have been have been reported I think clearly what we fairly healthy interest from the United States and there's a crucial detail in all of this which is that The Rain group the intermediary that is managing the sale of Chelsea their continuing to consult with or to talk with the existing senior management team at Chelsea sub Bruce book a U.S. lawyer and Marina granovskaia who was a Roman Abramovich ramovic right hand woman and it seems that whatever is happening and whoever is involved they're driving a pretty hard bargain and the price that Chelsea will go for I think will be considerably more than was initially suggested So Simon where does that money go And I guess if the numbers are getting out towards 3 billion that rules out John Terry's attempt or any form of supporter led even if it's arsenal Supporters buying it to close it down But I mean what is the likelihood of someone other than a very very wealthy U.S. conglomerate buying it in any realistic terms now I think it's looking increasingly likely that it will be a U.S. acquisition There was some reported interest from Saudi Arabia that potentially could have been highly lucrative but it would also have raised some important issues around ownership and directorship because there was clear evidence of connections between people involved in that Saudi Arabian bid and the existing owners at Newcastle United which under Premier League ownership rules would have created some issues My feeling is that the British government is sitting behind their maybe not visibly and maybe not being heard or seen to be doing things but the last thing the British government needs right now is for the political temperature to be turned upon this deal already because of Abramovich and Russia It's a very very sensitive issue And so for the likes of a Saudi Arabian investor to get involved particularly if there are concerns about connections to what's happening at Newcastle United that is something the government just does not want So I suspect that there will be an instrument.
