Highest Paid Stars Lose $200M, And Mackenzie Wins

"Guys welcome tonight we pop I am so excited because man crushed Thursday because Morgan off. So our friends Scott Tweedie is back. On the the Wrong is California dreaming. Okay. So we been listening for two hundred episodes and we've never done a man crush Thursday before one Thursday that you're on. Okay. That's awesome. All right. Well, let's up into the top story because the world's highest paid stars have actually lost a combined total of two hundred, million dollars this past year you guys. So then actually according to Forbes newspapers paid celebrity let's Kylie actually came in first place but she's Short, she's low short. Sheelah my new little coin because she's about a hundred million dollars less of being a billionaire. So how should she adjusted lifestyle so that she can kind of be up there with the big dogs when I'm trying to save one, hundred, billion dollars, it usually comes down to just eating in more. That's kind of the main thing for me that could be it. That could be it. Actually there's a few things I can do. I think it's all about the people that entourage so they could mix it up with their security. God's maybe go skinny guys or get some of this street performers yet they have to. Oh I kind of agree with you hunter because we know from our past conversations that Kylie's post mates bill is insane like she spends thousands and thousands on post mates. So maybe that push her up to be becoming the actual billionaire I think she should just work a little harder is all I'm saying. It would hurt to do two more brand deals make that hundred million I think she's taking the easy road right now I'm feeling bad for someone else's probably feeling bad for her Jeff Bezos ex Mackenzie Scott because she actually has just been named the richest woman in the world. She's worth sixty, eight, billion dollars B billion after their divorce. I don't even know how to like comprehend having this amount of money. Hunter, are you gonNA shoot your shot with her was that you win you win you're going after a rich woman you need to make it seem like you don't need the money you don't want it. So on the first date you say, Hey, let me get this the second date and you say, Hey, let me get this and then on the third day you say, can I have a new car and then that's when you're in. For a chance on this one bit of your appearance that needs to change I think if you lose the hair. Hurrell down. I think you're going to be. HOW COME THEY Got Something to show. Call Him we call him a man crush and then we go ahead and remove my hair from a photo. I don't love this episode. Personally she said look I'm into you. I'm into you having part of this fortune, but you have to go bald, would you do it listen? I know you guys think that I'm this like moralists person who won't like just live a normal life but I'm telling you right now I would do it for just a million I would do for one million. Then I'd be set forever. I'm good with that. I can't believe that she's actually worth this much money. You guys. Well, you know it's crazy is just to put this in perspective Kylie would have to sell her business that she sold for about five hundred million dollars. Every single year twice the air until she was eighty years old to have as much money as Mackenzie Basil says insane in Saturday.

Preserving Herbs Over Winter

"L. Let's get into our main segment, which is preserving herbs drying freezing bringing inside how do we do it at this time of year, most people have abundance of all types of herbs. What are we going to do with them? A lot of it depends on how you plan to use your herbs and how often you plan to use your herbs drying. Certainly, the easiest for most people, but a dried herb is only going to be really delicious and fresh for about a year maybe a little bit more. But if you feel that you're going to use your herbs up in a year and the next year, you'll dry a whole new crop I. Think. It's a great way to go because it's very simple now. Of course I have a dehydrated, which is like my right arm I would be so sad if I had to give that up and the reason I like it is because it let's me set the temperature at which I want to dry my herbs. A lot of people want to do dry herbs in they're oven or in their microwave, which is very. Possible, but at temperatures over ninety five degrees Fahrenheit you lose a lot of the volatile oils and that's what gives you the wonderful flavor. So I recommend a dehydrated where you can set the temperature or simply hanging them in a cool dry place in your home or putting them out between two screens in the shade and trying to dry them at lower temperatures. Now answer this for be Ellen. Do you think that there are some herbs that dry better than others? Yes. I know dried rosemary is really very similar to fresh rosemary, right but what about parsley or Basil Parsley dried just don't just don't even do it just don't Basil. I would say my best word to describe dry basil is Ma-. It's. It's maybe better than no basil but maybe not better than no basal but for things like Rosemary yes and Oregano shore and time and summer savory and sage a lot of these. Herbs Dry wonderfully and maintain a really great flavor if they are properly but for things like parsley and Basil. GonNa have to go with the freezing bleaching freezing. You do a lot of freezing and oil and broth chew I freeze them several ways, and I'm so glad that you started out by saying how you're going to use the herbs because I have here on my notes which we haven't talked about ahead of time I I started out by writing how are you going to? Because, if you if you freeze your herbs in olive oil, you're not gonNA use those in like a cocktail right for that you might do it in water. But if you if you on a low fat diet and you want to use your herbs in a soup, you might freeze them in some kind of broad off. So yeah think about how you're going to use your herbs and that'll that'll get you started and I actually freeze them in. Several ways for example, I will take my chives, Parsley chives. That's another good one. It doesn't. It doesn't dry well, much younger freezing. So those I will do some that just chop them up and put them in a bag fresh in in the freezer. I don't them just put them in fresh, and then I use them a handful right out of the freezer and those I tried to use up within about six months, which is basically through the winter. And then in the spring. Plant new plants and start over again. So I do them that way and yes, I will do a lot of them in oil I. We will chop up Basil in olive oil we will chop up parsley and olive oil sometimes I will do a mixture of herbs in oil and I will freeze them in Kinda little dollops on wax paper. And their cube trae you could you could do it on an ice cube tray, and then once they're frozen, you can put them. You know in a plastic bag so that then I can just grab a tablespoon of this basil and olive oil puree or parsley or a mix of the two. CILANTRO is a good one for doing that as well. Yeah. Not a good one for drying. Cilantro think it has any flavor but I blanch mine. I because. I found especially something like Basil if I don't that the color of the frozen or abyss particularly attractive and it doesn't matter if I'm going to use it for you know baking a chicken but if I'm to use it in a Pesto or something where the color is actually GonNa, show I like to Blanchet because then that preserves some of the green and it's not just brown I use the ones that are not blanched getting thrown into cooking it's getting put in a pasta sauce. So the colored is moving into soup. That's right. So it doesn't matter that they're more of a dark black green than they are. Right. The. Fresh. Green you mentioned at the beginning, you said drying freezing or bringing them inside, and I've got to say I have almost never succeeded the way I want to succeed with overwintering herbs inside I've tried it and I've gotten a couple of months and maybe something like Rosemary will actually carryover for a while but you know those herbs that need like Sun Sun. Sun The Oregano the Basil I've always been disappointed with how they've performed indoors even in my sunniest window. Well, I do keep a rosemary from year to year quite successfully but here's what I was thinking when I, when I was thinking of bringing inside I'm wasn't thinking of carrying them necessarily through the winter. I was thinking of bringing the pot inside putting it in whatever kitchen window you have not with the idea of taking it through the winter but with the idea of keeping it alive as you use it up right there in the kitchen.

The Right Way (and the Wrong Way) to Ask for Reviews

"Welcome to another episode of Marketing School I'm Eric Su and I'm Neil Patel and today we're GonNa talk about the right way and the wrong way to ask for reviews. But first we're talking about asking for us what kind of websites are we referring to I'm assuming we're talking about YELP G to Capterra decides the websites. Well. First off it just hit me I. Think we're almost four years into this podcast. We are. Oh, we're almost at fifteen hundred. We are four years into it as of this recording. Right it's crazy. Thinking about that. All right. So the reason reviews are important is If you do reviews happy for your anniversary Yay. If you get reviews. See back in the day when Amazon was I doing e commerce people buying products on Amazon and then Jeff Basil's was like Yeah I want to let people review them why you WanNa let them review it. He's like whatever Chris the best experience is what's going to help me win in the long run. And that was right and then reviews weren't just used for e contract started being used for to be services software literally anything that you can think of. and. The reviews are effective is look as humans. We all make mistakes aren't perfect but ones if you when you spend your dollar or your pound or your ruby or whatever currency using. If you can make sure you're getting what you want, and that's what reviews do. They don't guarantee that you're getting what you spend your money on, but it increases the chances that you're getting what you want when you spend your money. Yup I'm just GonNa give some real life examples where I just remember I got a good experience or a bad experience I. Remember one time post made. Using deliver rouw whatever door dash, wherever you dear food deliver UBEREATS, whatever. So Post mates delivered something to me and the guy sent me this really long text afterwards like you know gas is really expensive and it's really hard to drive to you and all that and he's like, give me this entire story. I really appreciate if you leave a five star review and also give me a tip as well. It looked like it was a can message and it just was not a good experience. Afterwards, that is a wrong way. DASS reviews a right way I remember afterwards I bought a product and then there was a card it only asked for review but gave me something else as well. So it sort of is me to write through and say, Hey, no pressure at all. But if you leave a review, it'd be. Really. Helpful for us and just please be honest and also by the way, here's another bonus for you. So they didn't need to do that and it was really optional and they kept it lighthearted that actually may be wanting to do it because if you look at whatever have online yelp or whatever. I, usually don't write reviews but if I'm compelled to do it because I felt incentivize do it in essence is. Getting at is the right way is to help people and do what's best for them. You can always do the soft ass but the wrong way is bribery and saying, write a good review and I'll give you this and you see some companies doing that it's just not genuine and don't look at reviews as off I get more five star reviews than people are going to buy from me well, if you're faking. The reviews in your incentivizing people in the wrong way, what's going to happen is you'll get the high reviews temporarily but then event, you'll keep getting negative views as well or you want people to just leave real reviews and when the leave bad reviews figure out how you can improve your parked or experience or your service. So that way in the future people nationally way better reviews which will naturally increase your sales. You might as well ask for the real feedback can you give me some honest feedback whether it's to stars four stars, five stars whatever because it helps make you better what I found from one of my friends restaurants is that they're yelp just started exploiting with reviews because they just kept getting better and better and they kept driving an amazing experience. The food was amazing. Experience was amazing. Amazing to be there and boom. It was four and a half stars and hundreds of reviews right if you can do that cut into what Neil was saying earlier with Jeff, bezos obsess over the customer and you drive a good experience you're for sure gonNA. New Nintendo Switch Rumors

"Joining me today is Tina Amini. Sam Claiborne. Everybody and Justin. Davis. Scoop Scoop. With great show you this week we're and talk about who Sony has deemed worthy of free ordering a place should five. We've got new details on. Lord of the Rings. But I. Do but I yeah. I gotta say that was a great read. You did a great job Tim. Thank you. Thank you. I was very nervous. New Rumors. Actually let's let's go this route rumors about a new version of the switch intend to switch or not new, but new rumors have surfaced this week. This is according to a report from Economic Daily News. IDEON the new version of the squid. Is set to lodge at retail first quarter twenty, twenty, one early next year report claims to be informed by sources in the console supply chain stores. The new version of the switch will feature improved. And a better quality display. Like I said the rumors about the sort of thing or not new. Tina. What's your read on this one? How likely is this to come to pass? You might say there. You'd rumors Damon because you're right. It's been a kind of like a a suspicion for awhile and it would not be outside the norm of of what Nintendo could do in terms of making sure the sustaining the life cycle of the switch. I know a lot of people wanted a pro switch. There's obviously a lot of conversation around the power not exactly being up the speed in terms of the current generation. especially as we're entering in the next generation, it's kind of being more becoming more important for Nintendo to. Make sure that they can step up on a graphical level as well as the convenience level because there's so many gamers that love the option of having to play their game on switch rather than ps four or or the xbox because you can just take it around with you. It's it's incredibly flexible. So if they are able to increase up to like four K. support for instance I, think that's going to be the kind of thing that brings them a little bit up to speed as we head into the next generation. Now you sound a little quiet on my end I. Don't know if there's anything you can do on your end or Chris who's our td working behind the scenes maybe he can work on that. But to get some more of us on this Sam. I believe you said a very recently that you don't even need a new version of the switch. That's still sure. Yeah. So what I think now is that there there's probably a good reason that the new switch is going to happen no matter what like I think like there are parts of that switch that are three or four years old that are harder to get now the new parts that are better. So we're to you know like if there's like a, that's what's funny when he brought up the supply chain part of this like if they're actually going to keep on making switches and remember it's hard to get a switch right Now Yeah that's a problem, right so if they want to get more people switches, they might need to change that up and if they're gonNA, do that they might as well upgrade it. So the screen is more definition as new processor those too easy things to kind of go forward and battery as the other one right up. But those two are interesting because I think that switches nice win. It can pace along with having the things like the witcher and which are three and and contemporary games on it like doom. If. It can't do cyberpunk if it can't do the things that are still like current generation but are coming at the end of this generation I, think that's a problem and that that's why okay. Well, if I'm really really being honest with myself, I would love to play cyberpunk on my switch I know to look. Here. It's a giant RPG that I'd want to like just veg out in bed and play you know. Just non woody what do you think? I consider these rumors renewed rumors. Tina. Put an extremely credible implausible You know it would explain it would explain why they're released calendar for the second half of this year is so so light to to non existent. The teams the Internet you know the subtext being that the teams are probably working on, you know switch plus games I'm less sure that being said that. They could make an upgrade to the switch hardware that doesn't necessarily make it more powerful the screen, and to be clear I, love my switch. But in the year two, thousand, twenty, battery life is very bad The screen is not incredibly high quality and it actually has a huge black basil. So, there's an opportunity you can see it right there on the screen like they wouldn't even need to change the switch factor at all and just make that screen edge to edge. Improve the battery life and make improvements like that without necessarily having to make a console that can do four K. output on TV or something like that. So I'm curious to see which direction they go like is it truly a switch plus that can do four k. you know when Dr met has more horsepower is just sort of like a switch plus that has the same internal components but maybe just a little bit you know nicer and premium feeling.

Achilles and Patroclus in Modern Media

"A couple of episodes are discussed the mythological figures Achilles and Patrick lists and the depiction in ancient texts most notably in his Iliad I don't want to recap episode to thoroughly. So if that sounds interesting to you, I suggest you just go listen to that episode, but I will say a few things necessary background Achilles some. Patrick lists here is off the Trojan War, our break episode which depicted in the Iliad although there is genuinely some ambiguity as to the exact nature of their relationship in the Iliad their relationship is very intense and very important to the plot character arcs and emotional hot of that poll. What is not ambiguous is how their relationship is on the stood in the later Greek texts we discussed. So we discussed east glosses. Play the domes which survives only in fragments famous speech impetus symposium, Ace, Kaz courtroom speech against to Marcus all of which depict achilleas and Patrick lows in a sexual and romantic relationship. As we discussed earlier episode, those works stand relationship in a way that is anachronistic to the Iliad, but we nevertheless thought it was important to note that is reading is a very old an integral part of the evolution of the myth. That you can't really get away from if you're talking about them today speaking of the evolution of this myth, we also spent a bit of time talking about how although people generally appeal to Hermosa when discussing whether Achilles in Patrick Louis Wet. Really love this. Is True one canonical version of the myths in which they feature, and we would be doing them a disservice to understand as early as the real story and every following version as accurate or inaccurate by how it compares to that. I bring this up because it's very easy to find audibles and people talking about how modern adaptations on any good because then not accurate and these articles that generally quiet nitpicky and lazy, and I wanted to know this specifically. So we don't do that sort of thing ourselves. It's inevitable and desirable when adapting these myths into new mediums and feel like very different cultures than the original. That heard this man to make changes just it's necessary to on Seoul's materials while doing. So so we got a comment on differences here, but the compensation will be more like why those changes get made and do we think it works as opposed to just being like well in the Ilia? Data. So with that background out of the way, we're going to talk about Wolfgang Petersen's two thousand four, maybe Troy Madeline Milas to eleven novel the Sung Achilles and the twentieth eighteen BBC mini series story full of the city I think he ranked in the order of like worst to best in my opinion but okay, you may disagree. That was not why I decided to order them. In that way I just thought we'd chronologically but that's fine. I mean now that you said that you did it chronologically and I also view that as West best that makes me feel positive that maybe like an even better adaptation that I genuinely think is good it's coming to clear I don't love any of the music specifically. In seven years but will like no. Sorry in five years because they've come out every seven years how to for two thousand eleven two thousand eighteen. Cool. Okay. Nice. So. We'll be watching an amazing adaptation, the Trojan War with that we will love anyway. So we're going to begin with the to troy maybe the film for it was directed by Wolfgang, pay the send styles Brad Pitt Kilis who just a very two thousand thing to have. It was written by then relative newcomer David Benny off which explains why it's a bit of a dry run, the game of thrones. I that sounds up its vibe. I, was gonNA. Tell you some fun facts about this movie but I decided that they weren't that fun. I cut them all but I'm GONNA I kept one which I tell you solely because it might make you upset Australian. Fun Fact No it's not. So all of the actors in this speak in that accents with the exception of Eric Bana Rosebud, the to Australian actress who had told that they had to get rid of their accents. And I think that's disgusting screw you. Wolfgang. Petersen. I have no problem with like. Okay. You have to change accidents that doesn't sound like a fantasy will like I've whatever accent I have a problem with that and I mean like this some stuff to say about that. But if doing that because you want all your actors to have a consistent accent. Okay. But if you just hate the way Australians, tall, that's not acceptable. Garrett hedlund obvious American accent fine. But Eric Basil accent is absolutely illegal. Sorry. Thinking recompense the twenty twenty, five trae. Offers how the TROJANS are all. Star. I like it. Yeah. The film was commercially quite successful but received mixed reviews, which is frankly claimed more than it does those because it's a bad movie. I tried to watch this movie just like you know throughout my life. I've tried to watch this movie like three or four times. I've sat down in front of this film I've got like twenty minutes and I just can't do it. So. That's where I met with this. Okay Jason Do WanNA disagree and say it's a good movie. Nor I will say that like I don't think it's the worst movie like suddenly I watched this movie as a kid when it came out had no problems with a had some fun fight seines cool choreography some big actors doing fun things than having fun. I didn't really mind it and obviously now watching it I think it has some quite severe problems both as a movie analyzer adaptation I would certainly agree that it's the west of the three adaptations that we're GonNa talk about today. But then again, this is the point cost queers fact and it's not

Fun Summer Recipes with Essential Oils Featuring Kati Falzone

"Katie. Thank you so much for sitting down to talk with us today. Thank you so much for having me. I'm thrilled to be here. So a big question that gets a lot in the essential oil is, can I use essential oils in cooking? Yes absolutely you can, and it's one of my favorite ways to use them a many people don't realize that. So many adulterers essential oils are safe to ingest, but they are and they are great replacements for Menia. Typical and spices that we use in cooking, and this is especially convenient for me when I'm out of fresh or dried herbs, which is often. So for example, just a couple of as. Like to use ours, we love to add things like Oregano oil and basil oil to our spaghetti sauce. We get the added health benefits said than guessing oils and we're really boosting the flavor. Another example of a way we love to use them in a recipe we is often are pro bowls. We love to replace fresh ginger we lead to replace it with. Injure essential oil because they never seem to have ginger in the house and this turns out beautifully. I love all of those suggestions and you're so right we always seem to be out of the exact herb or whatever we might need for recipes. So it's so convenient to have these essential oils on hand as a backup or as our primary source for these recipes. Absolutely. What are the biggest things that we need to remember when we're cooking with essential oils? That's a great question I. think There's really two major points. That I consider when I'm cooking. I is really about safety we want to ensure that the oil were using his actually safe for internal use. So we only want to cook with oils that have a supplement facts label on the bottle and don't tear does a beautiful job of putting these supplement acts labels on every bottle that saved to ingest oils without a supplement facts label are really better suited for aromatic or topically. Because of the intense level of testing that dough Tara's I know that there are no fillers can pesticides, etc. In my oils, I would never use oils from a big box store in my food for this. The second tip I have is a little bit goes a long way. So I think we already know that essential oils are incredibly potent. It's been said that they are more potent than traditional herbs and spices, which means that you make use a teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a recipe, but she would never use a teaspoon of cinnamon essential recipe. So. If you're unsure how much you should use, it's best to start small and work your way up. So you can start by to the dipping a toothpick into the bottle and then swirling it around into your recipe. Until you get that flavor that you desire the citrus oils tend to be lighter, you may want those but some of the stronger herbs and spices such as Oregano time and cinnamon can be very powerful even with just one to hit. So those are the two things that I think about that always want to remember when I'm cooking with essential oils. Those are excellent advice I know it can be a little intimidating to try and substitute essential oils if you don't exactly know the conversion but starting small I think is key. Yes. So Katie to wrap us up today can you share some of your favorite summer recipes use essential oils? Absolutely a have two categories here, drinks and food and I'll just make a couple down. The first is really simple and I think this is where a lot of us get started with using wealth internally I gave up soda years ago I really really loved the carbonation and. They come with soda but I don't want a you know the added sugars and things like that. So now I have sort of a daily practice of adding my citrus oils to sparkling water and I'm sort of on a quest to find the most bubbly out there. Found Topa. Chico is incredibly bubbly. Pellegrino is another favorite, but I love to add line it's my favorite but also wild orange grapefruit those are great as well.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 first look

"Real quick. How about the watch? The galaxy watched three to super-quick. I totally forgot about this watch I've got one of my wrist unit already it is thinner and lighter than last Gal to watch was two years ago. So not saying much not saying much this is the forty five. Millimeter model. It's still pretty big. I've also got a an active watch active to That's the forty millimeter model, and that's a smaller size and I find that when we're comfortable but if you like big watches You'll like this too because it's still a really big watch. I haven't really spent a ton of time playing with it, but that's their like big pitch is that it is smaller or to be thinner and lighter than before it's also slightly more expensive that kind of an upscale with it since they've got the watch active to line that's taking care of the lower price. So it costs a little bit more, I think this models like four hundred and fifty bucks and it goes up from there. So stay tuned, we'll have a review soon I know that the Galaxy Watch was really popular for Samsung in this one probably will be popular as well but. I love the rotating basil on those but I felt like when I was holding this at the hands on, I look experience that Basil Raises Pretty High above the screen still, and I just wish that they would get that down. It's like a move to minds with that because I totally agree like it's got this like dish to it, and it's kind of a little weird with specially when you're swiping it. But at the same time, if you're like out and about and you knock against something that Basil stops something for smacking your screen and scratching it so like I can totally understand why you would want to have that kind of raised lip in the sense of like a Casio g shock has all that chunky like rubber rounded and super rugby and could smack it with a hammer when smack this with hammer I get why that Basil is raised and I will say this I've been wearing the watch active to for almost a year now. And it has that virtual touch dial around it's like a touch strip that doesn't rotate but it moves when you move your finger on it, and then this is obviously the the actual rotating ring. This is way better. The rotating ring is way superior. So I'm glad that the kept around physical controls beating controls I'm into it.

"I'm good at the usually. I'm a chef working mainland ceric right now at the pop up would, which is actually in the restaurant there with next to the cinema riffraff. I cook their this kind of potato salad I want to introduce to you because I think you can vary a lot and you can play with it suits to the summer, but also suits to the winter and it surprising. You have to start with buying wexler potatoes like there shouldn't be to meet I can be a little bit media but to be. And then wash them of course, and then cut shoe liens out of it like either you do refer Mandolin or you can do by hand. And cut those shootings directly into a three percent salt Brian, it breaks down the enzymes which is important for this dish. Let. Them sit there for four hours or overnight. And then you bring a pot of water to boil and Blanche those potato shoe liens for ten to fifteen seconds. They still should be crunchy, but they need to be cooked to be edible. After you cool them down. And then you mix it with a grated cheese, you can use come to you can use create should have cameras, notes, or chatter could be fine as well. And you mix it with the potatoes maybe to search potatoes once or great cheese. You cease it with lemon choose some oil olive oil. And Salt and then you add herb I love it with Thai, Basil because it makes it very interesting but there's also possible to do it with she's ill with Holy Basil with love it like play around it really just tastes very nice and if you wanna be very fancy, you can take some of those Blanche Potato Chileans and deep fried for some crunch to to sell it. And you can also just eat those potatoes trip with roasted sesame oil, which you find a lot actually Chinese restaurants.

"Lawmakers came out swinging yesterday against Amazon Apple, Alphabet and facebook at an historic antitrust hearing held with CEOS, Jeff bezos, Tim Cook Sundar Pichai, and Mark Zuckerberg. Over remote Webcam, you swear or affirm under penalty of perjury that the testimony you out to give his show incorrect. The Best of your knowledge information and belief. So help you God. Yes. Let the record, show the witnesses answered informative. Thank you, and you may remain seated members of the House Judiciary Committee's antitrust subcommittee used charged language like too much power, Anti Competitive Acquisition and emperors as they aired their concerns about those four giant platforms. Here's the subcommittee chairman. Democrat, Peterson, Selene, a Rhode Island, our founders would not bow before king, nor should we bow before the emperor's of the online economy and ranking member? Wisconsin's Jensen. Brenner. Pointing out. Political concerns about size does big tech have a bias serves our consumers to? The need the protection of the antitrust laws. Both sides of the aisle had their opportunity to highlight this core conflict between Washington and Silicon Valley that antitrust enforcement can fix whatever is challenging or concerning about big tech. The CEO's for their part. Say We haven't squashed the competition. Here's Pichai Cook and Zuckerberg competition drives US team. needs to better products, Noah choices and more choices for every customers have a lot of choices in their products space fierce competition companies like Samsung, G. while way in Google has built successful businesses with different approaches. We okay with that. Our goal is the best, not the most I recognize that there are concerns about the size and power of tech companies. Now, we're services are about connection. Our business model is advertising and we face intense competition in both Amazon's ECOMMERCE dominance sparked a few intense moments after CEO Jeff bezos. The richest man in the world with a personal fortune of about one hundred and eighty billion dollars didn't get a question until nearly two hours into the hearing apparently due to a tech glitch. But then the pressure was on basis was asked about undercutting diapers, dot com before buying it Amazon's counterfeit problem whether Alexa favors Amazon's own products, many times. He didn't have the answer I. Don't remember that at all. I remember is that we we we'd match competitive. I believe we follow diapers cog, and this is eleven years ago I. Think we do is offer to get you information if you. Get it to your office for you read that article, but I didn't remember that piece of that I apologize for that I don't know the specifics of that situation, and I would be happy to give back to your office with more information about that. These questions for Basil's and Amazon strike at the heart of the antitrust that had been building for years as these four companies that we use every day every single day grow and grow larger with a combined market. Market cap of about five trillion dollars. If they were their own stock exchange, they'd be the fourth largest in the world. Here's vice chair. Joanna goose to facebook's mark. Zuckerberg strikes me over the course of the last several years. FACEBOOK has used. It's market power to either purchase or replicate the competition and facebook facebook. MESSENGER WHATSAPP instagram are the most now downloaded APPs of the last decade your company. Sir, owns them all and we have a word for that words monopoly. My Take Away I. Don't know I. Don't know if you guys watched I thought some of it was fascinating. A couple of questions, not not a lot of great questions thought. There's a lot of some good answers, some not good answers, but I didn't think that there was a major takeaway that all of a sudden. You know Washington was Gonna come down hard on these companies and there was evidence that was presented. That was gonna GonNa, create that challenge. I thought the most challenging piece of of news out there. But I think we've seen it before was instagram and facebook in some of the emails back and forth. Did you ever use this very similar facebook camera product to threaten instagram's founder Kevin side-stream? Congresswoman I'm I'm not sure what you mean by threatened I. Think it was public that we were building a camera up at the at the time in a chat. You told, MR, science that facebook was quote developing our own photos strategy. So how we engage now, we'll also determine how much were partners versus competitors down the line instagram's founders seem to think that was a threat he confided confided in an investor at the time that he feared you would go. That you would go into quote destroy mode if he didn't sell instagram to you, one of respectfully disagree with the characterization. Really dug into the emails and didn't take them out of context I. Thought, you'd have a hard case to make. Yeah, I, mean. I thought on on the point with facebook is easy Riley points to the quite a few different lawmakers went off the Mark Zuckerberg on on the topic of their competition practices whether he considered some of those companies they've taken over I, walk up and Instagram as competitors at that point which knowledge that they had been, which kind of course, a bit of a stir. Has Been Engaged in purchasing competition I, in some cases, replicating competition in some cases eliminating your competition, would that be a fair statement? The space of people connecting with other people is a very large space and I would agree that there were different approaches we took to to addressing different parts of of that space, but it's all in service of building the best services. Likewise said that they had tried to copy some of the particular tools that other rivals whether they bought them or not use including. Of course, the stories feature snap, which I thought was quite interesting, but Geo Point, Andrew as to whether we we conclude from yesterday that significant action from no makers is imminent. Even if we go to a sweep at the next election, the market didn't take that conclusion on those times. Talks hit session highs during the hearing, but the interesting dichotomy which goes to the question. Of, how much we managed to watch I watched as much as I could apart from when fed chair Jay Powell speaking and I watch that instead, and you had one side of Washington of goes up pressuring these tech stocks. The other part saying that we're hit as long as it takes, we're not even thinking about thinking about thinking about raising rates and not allowed old. Not just the textbooks. And close at a pretty strong session yesterday can I? Can I just ask whoever buys a company? That's not a competitor I mean. News the idea that you would buy a competitor when. Merger has ever taken place among a company that does an entirely different area that you wouldn't consider a competitor. Watching. This yesterday was complete theater just like it often is with the these congressional hearings. At. The beginning, they were asking questions and not even letting them answer. So this was really about giving Congress people their time to have their six minutes to talk and to go through with some of these things, I didn't feel like learned a lot under yesterday. I couldn't take my eyes off it when I was watching it, but it was theater. Classic, you'll take the time comments from lawmakers when they get me on. So they wanted to I, totally agree on that, but I would say compared to say twenty eighteen when Mark Zuckerberg had to go to face, they'll make on his own. Better prepared than they had even if it was then making arguments rather than letting. The answer, their questions, they made better arguments. They brought up more pertinent facts whether that was is Amazon. Abusing small sellers on this. Platform. In two, thousand, thirteen, it was reported that you instructed Amazon employees to approach discussions with certain business partners, and I quote the way a Cheetah would pursue a sickly gazelle is the gazelle projects still in place and as Amazon pursue similar predatory campaigns in other parts of its business. I cannot. comment on that because I don't remember it. Is. Apple misusing the margins, it takes on on the APP store. Apple from increasing its commission to fifty percents we serve. We have never increase commissions in the store since the first day at operated in two thousand eight. From doing so is it? No, Sir I disagree strongly with that, there is a competition for developers just like there's a competition for customers. So I think they were getting it the crux of some of the issues. But as we I think all concluding I, it didn't spell imminent danger for the tech stocks just because of that air. Just one note though on the competitor. Comment there or issue that you were just discussing Becky, which is an interesting one. We often talk on the show about how being a monopoly unto. itself is not illegal, and you just commented that you can't buy from everybody wants to buy competitor. Interestingly, if you're deemed a monopoly which is not illegal, but you have that market power, it actually is illegal to buy a competitor, and so if you really go back and read mark, Brooks emails even. Even about the instagram transaction, he actually even doubled back on one of his emails because I. Think he realized that given the power that having that industry depending on how you define it that he had to rewrite the email later to suggest no, I'm not trying to do this. He was by the way thinking about this, even to two, thousand, ten, you can. Almost, if you look through emails, you can sort of see how tracking in his mind. The Way He's thinking about it. So yes, everybody always wants to buy. But Inter stands at the size and scale that these companies are. Now, it's very hard to do that actually. Hit His. Answer. was that the FTC had all the same information that they had at that point in the FTC Peruta

The Forgotten Favorites Episode

"Hey there. It's me Lisa. Lillian also known as hungry girl. I am super excited to be here for yet. Another episode of the chew the right thing podcast. How are you? Mike Jamie were good. How are you I am good less melty than I was over the weekend. It's finally cooling off. Fine a line. At least you didn't have a power failure in your house. That is so true. Thank goodness. But if you have a power failure, that's the best excuse to eat everything in the freezer. Is Facing. I was like Tonita everything well Mike. Kept telling me. Don't open the refrigerator or the freezer, so that was my reason, not to and little known fact. That's probably a known fact. I didn't know it. The CDC recommends that you can keep things in the refrigerator for up to four hours as long as you don't open the refrigerator, but after four hours with longer now I throw it all things so I think you can just never open the fridge. I, just like I remember when I, was a child in the power to go out and I want to eat everything. Like funny, it's funny I'm talking about a childhood memory because today's episode is all about forgotten favorites. It's just Retro Very Retro today which I like because I consider myself kind of retro person I feel like all of my like my sensibility, my style. My tastes are a little retro. So agree. Yeah, little, vintage vintage A. I. Don't I'll take that as a compliment. but we've got it all today. We have some tasting. We have a sponsor. We've got news. We have a rousing game of chew or false right. Columbus. I can't even believe it. I'm so excited so I think we should probably just jump on in. have. You heard of avocado milk now. Okay? Well, apparently, it's Jamie have you heard of it only because I. Go on. L.. Apparently, it's a big deal in New Zealand, and it's about to hit the US. The drink is ninety calories a cup and has made with oats, honey freeze dried avocado water and lentil extract and it also they also have a chocolate flavor along with the regular flavor, and the chocolate actually is also ninety calories. They just add cocoa to it. So, we gotta get ourselves some of this and try and try and house the fat content to. We know I didn't look grams per cup. North Bad. Okay now I would try the I trip told. It doesn't sound delicious to me, but I love trying new. Milk Products, and it's always good to check out a new chocolate milk swab, because that calorie count is pretty good so I will give it a shot, but not so excited, so this one is really more for your niece. Lauren and all the other begins out there. Have you ever heard of the Vegan? Hawaiian store called Veg, oh. Okay so it's. It's dubbed the Costco. For vegans and it's an actual story can go and pick up stuff now. It's going to be on the mainland by the end of the summer. It's going to be for delivery only so you order it on to kind of gambling. You ordered online and they they'll send out to you in I guess freeze packed. Boxes and they have every Vegan brand like everyone. I didn't have to name them all. They literally have every V and brand in the store. Oh, wow, that's really cool, so there's not going to be like an actual physical brick and mortar location. It's all online right it's going to be. They're gonNA. PUT Basically warehouses in the major cities, probably at first, and then like Amazon you'll order it, and they'll ship it out from those those warehouses interesting. Amazing I think that's going to be super popular now it's like that. Love it. There's a lot of actually vegan products. That was so funny I was just thinking like. I spend a lot of time. 'cause I am the ultimate carnivore, but I say now these days it's fifty fifty whether I reach for something. That's actually like an animal, product or something. That's made by Gardena or AMY's. That is just sort of a substitute and I love them both so I will be partaking true excellent. All right so we a sponsor this week and we have a good one. I love sponsored segments where we get to taste food and we're going to do that today, so our show today's brought to you by back to nature back to nature that sounds so healthy, doesn't it and fitting for today's episode back to you know? That's right, but this is not. It's actually not a retro ran. It's a very like hip and cool brand. That has a ton of stuff I was so excited I have to be honest about the portion control. Many chocolate chunk cookies that are incredible. They have cookies. They have crackers. You guys like Fudge Man I. Know Mike. You're like a mint. Fudge Mint Person, aren't you? Yeah I definitely love the the Mindy Fudgy things for sure said yeah, they have a fudge mint cookie. That's amazing. They have organic stone, ground, wheat, crackers, and I love the flax seed flat breads like they have these huge flat breads that are so crunchy and incredible. We had them. I think we had them at Hungary lamb for a while, and they were like everybody was just eating them like they were going out of style, which they are not there in style, but their new. New Protein crackers is what we're going to try today, so the protein crackers come in two flavors I have one flavor. You guys have another flavor and we're GONNA try them. I love them because they are made with P.. Protein pea protein is very hot right now, so these happen to be plant based and everything back to nature as plant based. I should start by saying that also so even their cookies right there Vegan right everything is plenty Everything's plant-based inspired by nature. Simple ingredients all right so. I'm going to bite into my We're GONNA. Try Wait. What flavor do you have because I have roasted garlic and Basil? Back to nature plant based PEA protein crackers. Would you have? I'm so excited. These are the whole lot of seeds, crackers, flax, Chia poppy and hemp seeds. They look so good and they're the big flat ones to which I like

New Trader Joe's Products to Add to Your Shopping List

"I'm Miller director of words and phrases and clauses at trader. Joe's and I'm Matt Sloan. The Marketing Product Guy. This is going to be our shortest episode of inside trader Joe's ever, but remember it's quality that counts not quantity. We have so many new products coming in, and we know that customers love getting a heads up on new products, and why not a short episode? It's just about that right. You've heard used that phrase coming in. Okay, so coming in is short for coming into the store. We've just left out the preposition phrase. We want to give you a little bit of a shopping list that you can go into the store thinking about. There's something about summertime and scooping ice cream into a cone, and just sort of letting drip down I. Don't know there's I love that so new and in stores now organic sugar cones their classic sugar cone. There are nice size. Those waffle cones previously delicious and a little unwieldy. They were very large sea put like a half of a court of ice, cream and Philips to these are right-sized We got rid of the Styrofoam inner packaging. So it's great product. I'm excited for those and there's twelve in a box. A Lot's been made recently meatless products right. Pro Team Patty kind like Burger. That's been getting a lot of great attention and we have now in stores in the refrigerated section. We call it a Turkey lous protein patty. These are great. I'm going to I'm going to serve these with a brand new salad kit that we have which is a lemony, a Aruba Basil Salad Kit it's bright. I love a Regula, but the bright lemon acidity kinda counters, a little bit of the bitterness Great Combo with that Turkey Lewis Patty. Yeah and I'm really surprised, just overall. How much that Turkey lists protein patty tastes like a Turkey Burger. We have two products that are kind of like bread or Tortilla replacements. One is a cauliflower, thin, and one is a Hickam Arab. There's so many things being made with cauliflower now right, so why not make something? You could roll up your luncheon to or or make a breakfast burrito out of or something like that? The one that I'm fascinated by which right now I don't think. Think is available in every store. The Hickam wraps 'cause. It's literally just very thinly sliced Hickama that looks like a corn. Tortilla has fifteen calories and three grams of carbs in two wraps, and so for somebody who's looking at those things whose like watching carbs, and who still wants to be able to eat things sort of like sandwich, or like a Taco or like a Burrito. Cruel product. To other in-store new treaty things one sweet one savory, our baton wafer cookies, Vanilla chocolate. We have a lemon variety so lemon baton wafer cookie in that cylindrical canister, just great like a lemon cream kind of crunchy cookie you. You could even stick it in the ice cream that is scooped into your ice cream cone. Yeah, there's probably twice as tall as the cone itself, so you'd have an architectural element as well which is like fancy dining. The Nouveau cuisine ice cream cone at. At the other end of the flavor spectrum we have spicy Salami chips. Don't let that chips word fool you because these are in the refrigerator section, right? It's just Salami, but it's given a little bit of a treatment. Not dissimilar from those baked cheese bites my memory of those from when we had them at the tasting panel was they were incredibly credible. Just I wanted to keep going back and getting more okay. Nice light summer logger, fantastic pairing with those little sloppy chips. would be good. Let's move into some things that have not yet arrived, but are coming soon sometime between now and the end of the summer, the corn cookie baking mix like the best part of Corn Bread, and the best, just sort of really simple sugar cookie, and putting those two things together, but in a suite cookie. That's not overly sweet I believe. We spoke about this in the chocolate. Chocolate episode, but we have that almond beverage chocolate bar coming out right, think of milk chocolate made with dairy milk. This is made with almond beverage and eats just like a classic, rich, creamy, sweet chocolate bar well, and I'm not somebody who avoids dairy at all for any reason, but this is one of the best tasting sort of milk chocolate bars I've ever had. In my life, even though it doesn't have milk in it. Oh a couple of really interesting health and beauty products that we have coming in. We have a strawberry hand, cream and strawberries sugar scrub coming in probably middle of June. End of

Ross Jeffs on Individualizing Speed Training by Understanding Concentric

"We have an awesome show for you lined up on individualizing factors and speed training. individualization has been one of my favorite topics to get into I feel like one of the most rewarding things that. Seems to happen throughout the process of coaching athletes is finding that athlete who just wasn't responding to the training that they had been given and looking at them, and and having the layers of awareness to understand where they're at and his into as an individual giving them the training they need and seeing them succeed. That is one of my absolute favorite things as a coach and. And that's why these podcasts on training individualization. I just enjoy them a ton, so Ross Jeff's. He was on the podcast back on episode, one forty, five, talking about trainers versus racers, which again is another element of individualization, basically knowing how to train athletes based off of how close they can get to their peak performance output in practice versus competition and how to train them correspondingly. Ross is currently working as a sprints jumps in hurdles coach at the aspire academy in Doha Cutter. He formally has worked in the Netherlands is the sprints and jumps coach. He's also coached under the guidance of Jonas Dodo within this speedwork system. Outside the track field Ross's worked with a number of athletes. From -rageous sports including tennis boxing. Olympic medalists from backs, basketball and rugby sevens, and Ross really has a full gamut of people that he's worked with. He's absolutely one of the most brilliant young coaches I've talked to. He's open-minded. He's curious. He has a huge tribe of mentors and I always learn things that are very applicable whether I reading his articles or obviously talking to him in these podcasts, so for the show today Ross is going to get into the idea behind on three types. Types of sprinting or three types of sprinting athletes and how to identify those, and then how those athletes ten respond best to training, and so I've seen a presentation that Ross did on this I was thoroughly intrigued, and unlike we have to do a podcast on this and so I'm super lucky to have him back and so we're going to get into that. We're going to get into three types of these three types of sprinting athletes identifying them and then how to train them. And whether you attract coach or not, there's a ton of gold in the show just in the sense that honestly if you're a track coach, a lot of times like if you're training jumpers, you may have a group that is almost more going to be close to one type. Were says a team sport. You're going to have a lot of types and so being able to just go through these ideas. It's going to give you a great new layers awareness, and this was an awesome show, so all that being said. Let's get onto episode two six with Ross Jeff's. Ross man awesome. Have you back? How how have you been? has there been any. I've been doing any online coaching in the midst of all this. What's what's happening in the world to track and field right now? Ed, you'll find, have me May Yeah, it's interest. Not Come in Cadillac up in about almost a year now so. Been in lockdown since. At Emma, so we've been there most fought training session close, so there's no, there's not much garnell. Plenty plenty of time was that where this presentation that we're GonNa talk about today was born. I'm sure that's been. It's been in the works right for a long time, but did that. Give you the free time to get all this together. Yeah. The James Baker whose who who runs fullness performance, and he's kind of been bugging me to kind of put together for a while, so it's the right time to do things. For sure I think sometimes when there's little bit more free time or downtown I know for me. It's been a lot easier to get a wider spectrum of guests on for sure on my own end with all this on the for the podcast, but I I was really still I know our our last time with the trainers versus racers was awesome. I mean it gave me so many things to think about an implement, and so I was super excited to see that you add the. New a new categorization, and of course we talked about this like no, not the goal isn't to put athletes boxes, per se, but just the more we can learn about how different outfits respond is is just so incredible and interesting to me and so. Let's kick this off. Let's to tell us about. Your your category, your categorization, concentric, elastic and metabolic maybe to start with the history of it, like where where did all this come from in terms of you? Your journey of deciding or or determining which athletes I know, track sprinters. We're talking about specifically, but which types of sprinters were responding to which types of training? So. Springtime into briefly set the scene fest. I think if you watch. The Olympics there are many commonalities inconsistencies around. Will faucets sprinters in the while. Technically, but there's also some variation, right and all too often this variation schroeck officer. As an idiosyncrasy oh. You know this athlete would run faster if they run like Basil D'Amato, isn't a nominee, so we shouldn't coalpit. Will actually might be inefficient for one person might be actually efficient for a number, and it's the same if you analyze training program I mean in this hundred meter final that it's going to be some very similar themes that coaches through the face, but that also be some very different themes. We know people have run. Teno running never more than two times I meet some of the way up to five hundred six hundred arrests so very early mccutchen career realized that Sanofi just one in very different need to the program that they were given an equal equally, they responded very differently to kind technical changes well. Her when this happens. Time and time again over to for years you start to see some click consistencies than pictures around what kind of profile you haven't is and then to go that people have been putting some ideas out on the topic around neuro. Typing in action type toilets fouts five typing stuff from Hank. Ulcers put some stuff out around muscular Hashtag as good a reset from the distance, running community around Ariel terrestrial runners, so it's kind of blended all these ideas and something that. into something I understand in seeing can apply on a consistent

"We have to talk for a few minutes here without giving away any answers. We we turn to a topic that has nothing to do with this. And maybe something like your fall garden checklist that that you have posted at Sacramento digs gardening. And we talked earlier about the importance of a maybe it's time to take out the summer annuals. Yes. Definitely the no I have I still have some zinnias in my backyard and Muslim because the the bees and the and I'm still getting Bs and better flies occasional hummingbird back there. But with all the smoke in the air that there's noth- nothing. Nothing's flying. There is that. Yeah. Exactly. See smart enough to stay in the high when it really smoky outside. But you bring up a good point about the basil plants. They're in bloom right now. You know, the the days are shorter colder. So they're they're forcing out blooms, but the bees loved the blooms on the basil. So I'm reluctant to tear out those basil plant and make pesto the decider on for my giant basil plant that we were talking about earlier was that we temperatures dropped down at night. Love forty. And that's when when basil starts getting very frost tender because it it it cannot take any frost at all. And it makes the leaves get very dark and lacking and an appetizing and the whole plant just started drooping because of that cold. So even though it still had a lot of flowers on it. And that's when I decided to go ahead and put right who's your favorite actor who ever played Sherlock, Holmes? Was it basil Rathbone? Just wondering. I think I said basil instead of basil. Anyway, you know, I like, Ben Tony Astor cotton Easter. That's funny because that's one of the fire resistant plants, cutting doesn't oh good. Give away an answer. Well, you said methods not planets. Well. I mentioned. Okay. Okay. So yeah. Don't mention ca Tony Astor as a fire resistant plant, cutting Easter Easter whatever it looks like to me, and I kind of like Benedict Cumberbatch. Okay. So let's talk about some other fall garden tours with the rain coming on Wednesday and temperatures are still on the mild side, which means that there could still be a mosquito population. Yes. Oh my gosh. The mosquitoes have been terrible just awful. Warm weather those temperatures in the eighties. They thought it was already spring and they came out. Yeah. So think about where water is going to collect on Wednesday Thursday and Friday. With turn pots over. And also if you have trays under your pots right to collect a drain water. You may want to clean those out. Saucers? Also, I mean, you know, it's been warm. It's been dry. I have a tendency to forget I've left a tool out somewhere. And then you find it in. Arrested. Yeah. There's that too. That's why I've gotten into the habit now of wrapping at some point along a handful of either the hand, tools or the long handled tools. Some brilliant orange duct tape. That's a great idea. Yeah. Wherever because it can get hit unless the dogs bury it. Forget it. You have no luck. One thing I've noticed this year, and it I don't know if it's a fall garden chore. Not it is if you're out raking leaves is it's been a great year for acorns. Oh, yeah. Another good year last year was a very good. You're also. Yeah, it's hard to get two. Good years in a row, very rare and might have to deal with the varieties of acorns that we've seen that. There was different ones last year that gives you. Yeah. But I noticed that too is that we can a lot of acorn. Cisco has had been very busy in our neighborhood. Bearing things in my raised beds. I liked mine too. They are little stinkers. We we had a whole big screw incident this last week at at our house and the cat right home, a dead, squirrel. But the end of it, but she didn't kill it though. No. She didn't kill brought in a row rat. This is about the size of a dead. I know. Yeah, she brought she brought one of those into oh, she's one hundred but but back to what we should be doing right now. This is still a great time to plant things, and particularly when we're going to get some moisture into the ground, which is what we normally have this time of year. So this is a great time for transplanting, a shrubs or trees, if you wanna do some major transitioning in your garden, if you're thinking about going to to California landscape us with California native plants. This is still a good time to put in those Perennials and shrubs one thing to point out when we talk about planting drought, tolerant plants is they still need water on a regular basis for their first year to get established and put in a deep root zone. Does that mean, no water? The water until they get established right and established is about a year. So if you plant them now, you're giving them a good head start and you'll get hopefully a lot of winter rain to help with that development. That's why it's a good time to do it now. All right. Let's go to the phones and get some garden. Grappler answer. Is here. Name mentioned a tactic for protecting your home or landscape in a wildfires. Let's go to the phones and see what we get for answers here. I stop it is John Davis. Hi, john. Hello there. Go ahead. Give us one of those wildfire fighting tips. Sacrifice plant parameter, Kathy. What you you talked about that Kathy? How about definitely yes succulents? So I I s- planned is not a secondment. Well, it is it is maybe not preferred in certain areas. Oh, but it is there's certain varieties of ice plant that have escaped. Horticulture into the wild and become invasive there now coming out with new ice plants that are less invasive, right? And so so those okay, but the idea planning succulents as a fire retardant plant is great. Yeah. As a barrier. That's a great answer. John. And I've got for you a couple of new handouts backyard composting basics and from the Sacramento county master gardeners their sheet on vegetable planting calendar, which is an excellent reference for when to plant vegetables. And there's plenty you can be planting in November and December. So John I'll be sending that your way. Thank you very much. You have a great show. Thank you. Thanks for listening free. She ate it. Caller, number two in today's garden. Grappler, it's Kathy in Sacramento. Hi, kathy. Hi. How are you guys? We're doing fine. So what wildfire landscape tip? Do you have for us? Gutters. Get the get the organic matter out at a debtor's. Yeah. You're not kidding. Which brings up another tip to for the upcoming. Raines is make sure the gutters in front of your house. Don't have any are blocked by leaves. Right. You have grass growing in them. There's always that happened to me. Yeah. I have a question for Debbie on unavailable that she was asking about where the basil Nevada. Is it available for the home gardener to buy? Yes. Testing it. Yes. It was going to be. It's going to be introduced this coming year, the Amazon Amaral Amaral out. Yeah. Amazon amazon. Amazon says Amazon. Yeah. Yeah. It should it should be out this next spring Amazon. All right fair enough. All right. Cathy, thanks for calling. Now, we should point out to those who don't know what we're talking about this Amazon will basil variety. You mentioned Debbie group to what dimensions. I it was taller than six feet tall and five feet. Why a plant plant one plant an annual. Yeah. How was the stock on this? My gosh. It was because my wrist. Wow. Yeah. It was the biggest basil basil plant I've ever seen. It was huge. And was and it started out as this nice little plant. It started with a little. You know? And I thought it was going to be like a normal size basil plant, but it got really really big. Now was this a plant from a nursery? Or is this from one of your secret? It was it was a test plant from proven winners. Improving was we'll be available usually with proven winners. Next the next year. So that'll be interesting the Amazon basil if you want a jungle of basil was they send me about a dozen plants and another one of those was was the red flowered. Strawberry was buried treasure. And it was a horrible. Because it it looked like it was like a regular strawberry accepted had red flowers. Yeah. How to taste? All right. The fiber the berries were small, but they they call them snack size in there were a little berries. But they had a very intense. Strawberry flavor. Yes. Yeah. Snack size. That's one of those garden Cadillac euphemisms. Like precocious little. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Caller, number three in today's garden. Grappler,.

"And we're back thank you sponsor yes thank you all right so basil history is tough to track down it is but we have tried to make sense of the confusing history that we have on coverage and we will present to you as as unconvincingly as possible that that is what we promise that is the food stuff guaranteed we do our best so basil has been cultivated for about five thousand years or so and most likely originated in india or around there it was found in the tombs of mummies and historians think it was used in embalming and preserving in ancient egypt some of the first records written records of basil came out of hunan china in eight hundred seven ce so that's pretty newish relatively relatively i'm used to like back in six thousand you see whatever whatever happened the ancient greeks associated basil with morning referring to it as the royal herb possibly because of the greek word bacelius meaning king and the french still call it the herb royale yeah the engine greek term for basil was silicon on a royal plant the oxford english dictionary entry on basil recounts it might have been coat some royal underwent bath our medicine and that might be where the name came from another possible origin though less likely suggests that the latin basilicas as the root word for basil basilicas meaning dragon the same root word for bacilus yeah this is less less likely but any time we can bring up bass lists can show yeah it's it's probably definitely not the root of the word basil but at one point the latin term for basil and the latin term for bass lisk were the same but basilicas yes the french words for basil and bacilus are still the same basilic and this might be where the connection to scorpions comes in oh okay so the ancient greek word bacillus coasts meaning little king was the term for for type of bird that had this golden crest of feathers on its head the word could also refer to a kind of poisonous snake that had a spot on its head that supposedly resembled a crown plenty talked about this and might have been referring to king cobras huh from these creatures we got the myth logical bacilus.

"Hello and welcome to food stuff i'm and i'm mournful and today we're talking about one of my favorite herbs well i i think it's basically like everyone's favorite herb worldwide bakes clearly we're talking about basil basil i really hesitant because i almost said basil basil is according to baby center dot com the two thousand six hundred and sixtieth most popular name for babies this year moving on up i i it's actually moving on down it was popular last year but that's too bad i wonder where herb are herb it's on that list research for another day yes but no today we are talking about battle and watch is it well basil is a tender flowering plant with oblong leaves that are highly aromatic the species optimum basilica is in the same family as mints and lots of other culinary herbs like sage oregano lavender and time there are over sixty types of basil oh my gosh i am saying basel don't why are hell okay i mean just roll with it i you know some days you say basil some days you say basil some days you probably say completely different than insulation anyway they're over sixty types shades of green to purple to red depending on the riot basil plants may grow about one to three feet tall that's up to a meter and taste wise basil can have notes of lemon ns cinnamon clove liquorice citrus jasmine and time most basil grown in asia typically has a stronger clove flavor i feel like i need to go oh into a room and like some kind of speech their h can't tell if you're doing this on prime doing it on purpose i don't know what's going on this is a terrific like madonna moment it really is it really is here we go according to what i read it's best to pick basil leaves before the plant flowers which means i'm sol because mine has beautiful bright white but to prevent this grows or advised to pension back yeah for optimal herb leaf growth you're you're gonna wanna trim off flowers as they start to grow however basil flowers are also edible lot lots of herb flowers are edible google to be sure before you eat something but yeah i'm basil buds and flowers are a little bit more peppery than the leaves and are pretty delightful addition to like salads and cocktails stuff like that bees and other pollinators also do like them so leaving flowers on your outdoor plants can help out some of those local pollinator populations and all is not lost for me because i also read that apparently basil keeps away cockroaches flies 'em squitoes it's a plant that can grow pretty well without pesticides because yeah a lot of a lot of bugs don't.
