The Left Now Wants to Destroy the Suburbs
"Not content with a large degree, many of our inner cities. Not content with creating plantation style urban dependency. Not just in the ghetto, but also in the barrio and then in a rural equivalent on the American Indian reservations, not content with doing all that damage. The left now wants to destroy the suburbs. And they want to destroy the suburbs. They want to convert the suburbs, if you will, into the kind of urban plantations that they've created in the inner cities, and on the Indian reservations. Why? Because it pays political dividends. It brings political benefits to the democratic party. The Biden administration has issued new rules specifically 200 pages of new rules. And the rules require a quote equity plans. In hundreds and hundreds of suburbs around the country. Now, equity is the new mantra of the diversity equity and inclusion. It's a new mantra of critical race theory. It's that we don't want equality, and we don't even want equal treatment under the law. We want equity and equity here is defined as equal outcomes. What the Biden administration is doing is relying here on the fair housing act. Let's remember we had the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the fair housing law of 1968. The fair housing law is pretty innocuous. It says no discrimination in the sale rental and financing of dwellings. So the basic idea is that if you want to buy a house or rent a house, it's based upon the fact that you have enough money to do it. And if you have enough money, it can qualify for the mortgage. And you're willing to pay, then it doesn't matter whether you're a Christian or a Jew or a Hindu. It doesn't matter if you're a male or a female. It doesn't matter if you're a black or white or brown.

Dinesh and Debbie Discuss Trump's Latest Rally in Pennsylvania
"So Friday was the Trump rally and it was a rally for Doctor Oz who I guess was getting a mixed reaction from the crowd. I mean, there was a bunch of people with Oz stickers and all, but pretty much every time his name came up, there was also a bunch of booze, just giving you an idea that this is a this is a guy who does not seem to have unified support. And I had never been to a rally in this sense. You and I went to the rally. And he was Ted Cruz and Trump. And so we were in the audience for that one. But here I was in the green room. I was kind of fun. There's Doctor Oz and he's sort of, you know, he's a character. He's a very he's a charismatic fellow. But I like listening to his health tips and stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you can tell he's a little bit, I don't know if Phil himself is right. Well, I mean, that again, I think I know why people were not happy with him. And that is because how conservative is he. Right. And you know, I do remember when he was on Oprah lot and he likes to, he likes to kind of mingle with the left with the liberal left. Yeah. You know, so that could be why people are like, hey, why are you running in the Republican ticket? Are you Republican? Are you a conservative? Are you? So I'd never met him. We said hello. And then JD Vance comes in, which was great. I like JD Vance. And look, JD Vance, I've admittedly in the beginning he was not hot on Trump, but I think he realized that the very issues that he writes about in hillbilly elegy. The very working class people he grew up with who have hard lives and are ignored by the elite. Trump, believe it or not, Trump the billionaire cares about those people. I know. It's unbelievable though mentioning that how so many people in the spectrum love Trump, like the very poor from the barrio where I grew up to billionaires. It's like everybody, you know, loves him. So he's got, he's got a lot of fans from different walks of life. It's amazing. I was watching him interact with people. Think about Trump as he's, he's a Democrat in the small descent. I never notice a difference when he's talking to an important person or an ordinary guy, he treats him exactly the same. Exactly

"Only one guy was freaking wedding because of that. That's all that's all I had to see. He did a build. I was very impressed by Ramos. He drops his hands a little bit, gets touched sometimes because of that. But he was calm in the eye of the storm. He sat in a pocket with a guy who wants to fight in a pocket. He sat right now, because he recognized, yeah, you could out box the guy and catch money outside. Yes. Yes. You have an option with this kind of guy. But you could also sit in a pocket and punch inside his punches. And that's what he did and it made for good action, which is important because he's going to be an entertaining fighter guy that puts Fannie synder seats fan friendly another saying I used to use some of what it was called fights. And so he's got all that going for him. But the thing, the thing I really, well, I loved a lot of things about him. But Ramos was so calm in an oncom environment, as I say, in the eye of the storm, and he was not deterred. Even when Rommel's had a few little moments, it did not discourage Ramos from doing what he knew he wanted to do and could do. He was steadfast. He hung in there, he placed shots, you know, real clean, like I said, I thought he could have got a body a little more. But he went to the body. He went to the head and he showed a quality that I love in a fighter Ken. Either you got this or you don't have it. You know what that quality is? Let's be a really good finisher. He's a finisher. I love it. I love it. Because when he finally heard him, man, he knew what to do. He came away. Yeah. Not everybody. That's not automatic. Not everybody's a finisher. This kid Ramos is a finisher. Yeah. He's I love that. And he went and he finished them. Yeah, great one. Teddy before. Very smart, very patient. These are the words I wrote down. Ramos is a nice looking prospect. Calm, smart, patient. And when he heard somebody, he gets them out of there. Teddy before we talk about what we've got on tap, I just want to give a quick shout out to our number one sponsor, athletic greens. Last week when we were in we recorded the interview with Brandon Moreno, I was in Malibu with Robin as we was rob was nice enough to give me a ride to the airport. Now as we were going, you know who called me Irish Mickey ward called and said, hey, Ken, it's true story. What's up with athletic greens? I said it's the best. You've got to be taking it, especially for guys our age. You should be taking athletic greens every day. He's like, okay, perfect. I said, actually, they'll probably want to work with you. But so rob's connecting them with the company. But in the meantime, I said, let me send you some from my own private stash. I treat this the way Escobar used to treat his stash of supplements. I protect my athletic greens. Here's the new package. Here's the new package. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You can't say something like that. And then just pass right over. Let's make this very clear. Ken does not have any supplements anywhere near like Escobar had. Please, before you guys put down your phones, put down your tweets, put down whatever devices you have in your hand right now that you're about to go nuts. Ken does not in any just using words in a smart way, but to get your attention, which he did. He got your attention for a good product. But his products all products athletic green products have no relation to any of the products that a guy named Escobar had. Go on, Ken. Continue. Please. That's how I protect my athletic green stash. It stays in a safe. So anyway, Mickey called me, we sent him, we sent him some while he's getting linked up with the company. But again, I talk about this all the time. These guys spent ten years with top nutritionists to develop this product. It's got all the whole food sourced ingredients you could like, vitamins, minerals, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, you know the drill. I take it every single day. I suggest you do too. For our listeners, you can get ten free travel packs when you place your first purchase. Those travel packs are valuable to me, I take them.

"That layoff when he got that first surgery in his career and then before the seat old Lopez fight. He looked he looked that good. But I will say that I was left and when somebody said I think it was during a broadcast, I wonder what he's got left. I left right away, you know, my ads was what do you mean what's he got left physically? Of course that's what they were implying. He started four years old, I think, whatever that, somewhere there, 33, 34. Ken, when I heard them say, that's the question. What's he got left? I said to myself, there's no question. He's got plenty left. This is a guy with low mileage. This is a guy who has, you know, I mean, he's been an act of more than he's been active. If you look at his career, he's 33. The career his years of inactivity way outweigh his years of activity. I don't need that in front of me. I know that. So when they said, oh, I wonder what he's got left. I was like, what are you kidding me? You should be thinking and look at other places if you want to look for something to talk about in this fight. You know, everyone's always looking for something, right? Look for something else, because there's not a problem with what he's got left. He's got no miles on his old dominant. You'd go buy that car in a minute. You know, in a minute, you'd say, wow, that car has been kept in a garage. I'm buying it. So even if it is 33. So my thought went to where is he at mentally? That's the question we Keith Thurman. And it's the question now. For the people that love them or wonder whether or not they could hook their wagon to them again as far as the future goes at this point, does she still have a future with the big boys with the top guys? It's all about the mental part because he's been a guy that sometimes I use to think was almost too smart to be a fighter. Or so smart he would be a terrific fighter, a world champion, but in some ways too smart for his own good. When it comes to the longevity of his career, when a come because when you get down to the longevity of his career, it gets risky against tough against. And to his credit, he's a smart guy. To his credit, he's a guy that would think about the possible consequences of staying too long in his career. And of that even staying too long of being in a long couple fights. So I always thought that that could be as great as that could serve him in a ring being smart, it could be a hindrance to him outside where he thinks deeply about getting out at the right time. And he made a lot of money early thanks to Al hayman. Or how he was made a lot of money. All of them. And I don't know if they'd make it quite as much as they used to make, because Al doesn't have quite as long. You know, quite as fat a wallet as he used to have. You touched on that, but some of those those guys that I had fun guys. But he made a lot of money early. And I felt that it showed that part of the demise if you will of Thurman. Yeah, he got injured and everything else. And then it was an act of and coming back and then gone again. Some of it was physical, but a lot of it was mental of making that money being smart and not really loving the sport to the extent that you're willing to risk yourself in it. Anymore, when maybe you don't have to. I always thought that about thurmond, that that was what was at the heart of everything with hermit. When it came to trying to understand, you know, his future. What is he have left, you know, what can he still do? Where's he been? I thought it was always attached to that. And when I saw him the other night, and I heard him talk, I was wondering at the beginning, is that just a sales pitch? You know, because that's what everyone does. They give their sales pitch. They promote themselves. They're not going to come out and say, you know, what I'm one and done. I got my foot halfway out to you wouldn't watch them then. So of course they're going to tell you the retirement of one time, one time. You know, of course, they're going to do all that. But what it was over with and I listened to them and I saw what I saw throughout the night. I kind of believed them that it's important to them again. I felt like boxing hadn't been important to him. For a while, because the very thing I just explained and I felt the other night that boxing is once again important to him. Now, do I think if you put if you put a gun to my head, a lot of people would like to do that. But if you put a gun to my head and said teddy, can he beat the two top welterweights right now, Spence and Crawford. I would not bet that he could. Not right now. I would not bet that he could. He's got some physical technical habits. He bucks beautifully. Beautifully. But he dropped his hands once while we could catch some clean. Who you like? Very interesting. Both PBS was either thurmond, thermos either gonna out hustle or outbox them, underscore cards, be busier, outbox, so keep more balance, or he's gonna get caught with he's gonna get caught with a counter. That's the fight. I just broke it down. Take it to the bank. It's gonna be one or the other. If it has got a pretty good chance. So at the end of the day, it probably wouldn't decision. But that is to the heart of what I'm talking about. That from a technical standpoint, he jumps in, and guys like Crawford, a great counter punches. And even Spence will catch him jumping in maybe. He got away with it and it looks spectacular. I'm not knocking him. He got away with it the other night because it was faster. He was quicker. And I'm going to put one other thing. He deserves it. I always put in what I think people deserve. He was smart. He knew what he was doing, and he got away with it. He was jumping in leading with left hooks. He could have got caught. If I was in barrios corner, the game plan would have been one thing. Sit on right hands at time him one time tonight at least when he jumps in and leads with love talk. Timer will write in. But he wasn't able to. Why? Well, because Derby was quick enough. He was quick enough. Just like Pacquiao used to jump in in his prime. And he was quick enough. He got away with it. And then one night he didn't get away with it against a guy named Mark house. Another Hall of Fame fighter. Another iconic fighter. One of long list that joins the long list of great, great, great Mexican champions. But Pacquiao also had his way with marques on other nights. You know, that was a rivalry that went back and forth. You never knew who was going to win. It was always close. Always close. Even if the judges didn't quite give it what it deserved on the scorecards, believe me, in the ring, where counts were the truths always survives and is always there. They were all close. But that's that's my assessment of Keith. Just terrific performance, you know, I think that he's back as far as wanting to be back..

"Thurman has not looked the same. All the way back. To when he had surgery years ago, his first surgery, I believe, he had surgery and then he was off about two two and a half years after that surgery, somewhere in that neighborhood. He spent off a couple gaps of two years in his career, but he and then he came back against Lopez. I believe of my memory serves me right. And he almost got knocked out not fight. He started off good, then he kept pulling back straight was hands down and Jose was catching him catch him. It was a small guy moving up. So he didn't really have the bang to really damaged storm in the way somebody who had a little bit more weight on him at a little more power could have. I mean, he was in danger of he could have got knocked out in that fight. I mean, he won a fight. He got ahead early in a fight, but he was he was getting caught really bad hawks as he was pulled back towards the end of the night. And put himself in a parallel position. And I thought, he's never ever since that layoff. And then of course after that fighting for a Pacquiao and he got beat by the legendary Pacquiao. I never thought he looked near the same thurmond that we thought we were going to get. And as German that was tested against Porter, you know, I know he had a lot of hand, you know, handpicked opponents on his way up. That's what everyone does, but then when he fought Porter, that was a real test. And he beat Porter, and he took when he had to take. And he was, you know, again, he never looked like that fighter again. Until maybe the other night, where this is the best I've seen him look since then. That's how impressed I was. Yeah, he was fighting a smaller guy that moved up I get it. But not a big punch and all that stuff and a guy who's coming off and I can't lose, you know, against Davis. But he was fighting a solid guy. A tough, tough, tough fighter. A legitimate guy. And Thurman got hurt towards the end of the fight. And I have a little bit of a what do you call it? I have a little complaint here with the kind of people or the producer not fight because tell me if I'm wrong can, but unless I missed it, they didn't really do a good job of showing you that punch that hurt Thurman, and it was important to show it. Why? Well, it's always important to show punch that it hurts somebody. But especially in his fight, it was a one sided fight all night, up to that point. And if you want to keep the attention of the audience, which of course, you always do, right? You want to keep them there. You have to give them a reason to be there. And that was a reason to be there, that barrios could still not come out. He could still pull it out of the fire. So you have to show that punch. You have to show that. Now, maybe I miss seeing it as clearly as I could have. But you have to show more than once. And I just didn't think they did a good job doing that where it's such, I mean, it's such a possible turning point of to fight with a guy who's getting beat up all night, heard some and maybe there's a chance it's going to turn, we got to see it. And I didn't see it, I know that Thurman's been hurt by body punches and everyone kind of went along that line. He got hurt in the body because he has been hurt in the past by body punches, but I didn't, I didn't get a clip look at it. Teddy for the price. Did I miss it? For the price we paid for that pay per view. That's a whole another topic. I want to address with you after we break down the fight. It's infuriating that I pay that price that price for that fight. I think it was $80. I wasn't gonna say none because I feel I didn't want people to laugh at me and say, I suck. Suck. I actually felt like that when I was buying it. I'm like, at some point, we should just like boycott this crap and not even cover it. You wanna charge us? No, you know what I thought about. I didn't think about boycotting. I thought about the day's 30 years ago when they had the black boxes. What happened to those black boxes? That's what I thought being honest. There are people that can get those illegal streams. I don't like to do it, but I like the thing. In many ways, stop, stop, stop, stop. All right, Ken, here we are. I got a legal strength for you. You don't have to pay the 80. What are you gonna do? Take it. Okay, here's $80 back. I got this, I got this dream. I mean, I think you could I think you could find a way. You're a decent person. You don't hurt nobody. You raise in a beautiful family. You care about good things. I don't think taking 80 bucks out of the, not out of their pocket, but yeah, I guess it's out there pocket. 80 bucks out of the pocket of a rich promoter. I think you could live with that. I have a funny film, your conscience will not keep you up tonight. If you did ask for the promoters, but I gotta say 80 bucks for that. That should have been on HBO after dark. I mean, that could have been a Friday night show. I mean, no offense, but come on. No one's no one was clamoring for that. And I was like, oh, thank God they're making the Thurman barrios fight. It's like, come on, it's a get back fight for them and it is what it is both coming off losses. There was no it's frustrating. Come on, don't do the fans like this. 80 bucks, UFC. You're an investment capital guy, whatever that it's called. You're into investments. I don't think that you would recommend anybody to have been an investor in that show. That night because how many how many buyers could they have done or besides you and me? That's true. But how many let's go over. Let's just go over this real quick. You got a guy, you got a guy who has an important two and a half years. He has in the last four and he's fought twice in 20 years. And I know I'm really it felt like that. It felt like that. I like Thurman. I like him a lot. But you got a guy that don't fight. He hasn't put two and a half years. He's fighting a guy who just got knocked out by tank Davis. Real game guy I love barriers, but a guy that got knocked out in his last fight. So you're not completely sure how he's going to behave, you know, how he's going to be if he's still going to have ghost in the belfry, so to speak, as I used to say when I was quantified to ESPN, that would be used in a nexus years..

"Pop. You know, just these little short shots inside. Made the most of his position. That's all. I'll go to the box. Yeah, let's get into the boxing. Pay per view card, Keith Thurman. Keith Thurman versus barrios barrios coming off the loss to tank Davis thurmond coming off a loss two and a half, almost coming up on almost three years ago against Manny Pacquiao, that big payday. I was curious to see how Thurman came back because two plus years off after big Manny Pacquiao payday. He almost wonder if he still has the same desire to fight. It seems odd to be that be so inactive for so long, but Keith Thurman looked good. I thought it took him a minute or two to get his engine running, but then he battered barrios around the ring. One of the things that I thought was interesting is barrios for the most part, I thought was outboxing tank Davis, pretty good. In their fight before he got caught and I think dropped in the 11th knocked out in the 11th, but Thurman boxed his ears in most of the night, I thought, so I was just thinking, man, tank Davis has been, you know, they're doing a good job of picking the exact opponent for him, but they better work on a few things before they get in against these elite guys. That was my takeaway on barrios, but Thurman looked good. He was one 18 one ten on two cards, one 17 one 11 convincing one sided win. How'd you like the action? Would you think of Keith Thurman? I'm going to piggyback real quick off something that you just said. I pick it back because, you know, you and rob have strong legs. I feel like, hey, I can do that. I got you. You're never gonna let me down. You're never gonna drop me. And so what are the things that hit me was you got barrios fighting a bigger guy of a big full big welterweight. Barrios was moved up and so you got them in there with a guy and a guy who had a reputation one time they come one time, you know, for a reason. He had a reputation and he hits you one time you go whatever. And that's what they will build them up as early in his career Thurman, big punch. And, you know, the more I saw barrios eat some of the shots from Tyree got hurt several times towards the end, but and remarkable remarkable heart remarkable grid and heart from barrios. I have to say that he deserves had to be said to survive. And but he took these shots in a muy took these big shots from terminal wide thought, wow, what a bunch of Davis. That's what it made me think. I was like, I was like, nobody's talking about that. And I'm like, wow, what I did one of the commentators might have said some actually. I want to always be fair. Always. So it's important. So, but I thought it throughout the night and more and more who went on. Punches, as I always would say, sure somebody else has seen it now. I would always you can begin. I can't help it. But I can't help but sometimes. I'm human. I'm human. Sometimes the truth hurts people. Let me just say that tank Davis to your point. Remember the knockout against Leo Santa Cruz? Oh my God, I thought he might have killed him. But tank was getting old boxed in that fight, but to your point, he also was coming up from like one 30s, one 30s to fight. I think he fought barrios at one 40, so barrios moves up to 47, but to your point, he took those shots from Thurman at one 47 and tank coming up from like one 35 to one 40 and smashed him. One shot. Yeah, I mean, while he dragged him twice and then finally the last one. But he was just reminded me what I always say. Punches are born and not made. That's it. And he's a prime example in a great example of when I say that of showing it what it is. I mean, think I was just a born puncher. And the one thing that I'm going to come back at you a little bit with that I think you're a little erroneous is to mock him a little bit, Davis has just a punch hole just a walk in guy that could be easy in our box. He's got great skills. I think Davis, I don't know if he's always respected enough for those skills because he is such a big puncher that we look at that sometimes. But he is, he's a good boxer. He's a great counter puncher. He's defense is good. He's smart. He's a rebel. He can set you up. He knows what to do with the right time. Take David is a lot more than just a puncher. He's a damn good solid all around fighter. That has a lot of dimensions to him. But that's one thing that struck me doing a fight is when I saw barrios pods so I said, wow, he wasn't able to eat Davis's punches. Obviously, and it shows you what a bunch of Davis has..

You know and yeah, just have something where if it's necessary if what's keeping them what's impairing them is they can't get the right glasses with the right prescription. That's get them for them. Dana, let's get them for them. That was outrageous. And it reminded me reminded me that, wow, we're not alone. You know, when I alone. Boxing's not alone with the bad judges. I was, you know, I don't wish y'all no one else. I know. But we're not alone. Obviously, a quick wake up to that a quick remind of that was that judge score split decision given it to a Manson, one of the judges. So get past that. And that takes time to get past because that shakes you a little bit. You know, these guys put their lives on the line. They're gonna give up, potentially get robbed. God, so. I'm gonna piggyback off some you just said, the obligation when you reminded us that he had a new coach, Strickland. When you start, I've been in that position a lot of times about. When you start new with somebody, sometimes you take a step back to go three steps forward. What do I mean by that? You're teaching them new things. You teach them possibly a new philosophy, a new way of thinking a new way of approaching things. New technique. And when you're learning that and you absorbing that and you're in that process, you know that initial process of developing these new things, there is a step back. And sometimes your first fight out of the shoot with that new coach is a step. I don't think it was a step back. But I want to explain something that I thought it was very calculating. I thought it was very calm. I thought that it was really, really, he was economic and he was, you know, he didn't want to waste anything. And he didn't waste anything. And he was in control, pretty much all night. And as I like to say, he knew his geography. You know, it was to stay on the outside where he could strike and not let Hermanson who's very good at getting on a mat, not let him get where he wanted to get. And I think Strickland displayed a lot in a quiet way in a controlled way. And sometimes you don't get credit for the effort you put out what it's in such a controlled cerebral way. People want to see the fire. They want to see a little chaos. They want to see a little craziness that they say. I wanted to do that today. You know, and then, you know, and then it attaches itself to the performance. But you didn't have to say, wow. Saturday night, but it was there. And it controlled quiet way without the loud without the noise without the amplification. It was a solid dominant, really well done, well schooled. Effort in every year. Even in with the takedowns, he knew that he couldn't, he had a guy who wants to take it down and his takedown defense preventive defense was tremendous. He did not allow Hermanson to get to the dimension of the game that he needed to get to. That was tremendous. And that gets lost. I think some of that gets lost a little bit because of the things that I just explained. And again, I'll finish up on with a new coach. When a new coach is taking over, is implementing his new things. Sometimes when I say take a step back, what I mean is, well, you're concentrating on that stuff. You can't integrate everything into it. Your concentrating on being controlled your concentrate on showing a new stuff on being thoughtful of the new stuff of having it, you know, having a downloaded in your computer, right? In your brain. And while you're doing that, yeah. Some of the other stuff might add flow. It'll flow in the next fight or the fight after. It'll come in. You know, kind of like an orchestra. Yeah, you're here and mostly the horns and everything. Next time you're gonna hear the drums next time you're gonna hear the violins. Next time you're gonna hear some of the other instruments. They're gonna come in. Right now he was concentrating on a certain section of the band, a certain section of the orchestra. And I think that what I'm describing now, I feel very confident about it only because I've been there. I understand that when you teach it a fight and new and you coming out with a new coach, you are going to have more concentration on what you're being taught. And that is going to force you to kind of quiet it down. A little bit. While you're getting everything while you're getting everything in place while you're getting everything in order. Well you're getting all the cylinders eventually to all be heading at the same time the way you want them to. So I think I think that's part of what people might have experienced and might have seen, and that's the explanation for why you saw that. Again, I'm giving them I'm giving him a high grade because he dominated did not allow a guy who's tremendous at taking it to the bat do that. He completely shut the guy out.

"You doing? Good Ken. You look great as always great shape. Everything here looks every piece is in place, and I want to start by saying to the marathon boys which you'll one of them congratulations to the other one, I'll produce a rob, more you guys, does anyone else win marathons? Besides you and him, he won a marathon. What was it Saturday? Sunday. Sunday, Sunday, yes, Sunday morning. And we really seriously do you guys got what he called on that thing that you want monopoly? Yeah, really, you own it. You own it. Well, explain to the people what he won because it's impressive. Rob is like to everyone who knows this rob is like my brother, when it comes to running, if there is any one person that I would ever be okay with someone beating me, it would be rob although I would never, ever let anyone win. Do another talk to him again. So go ahead. We try to be we pride ourselves on his show seriously as being honest. Yeah. So you would never talk to him again. But you'd still do the shop again. I don't have any, I don't have a healthier competition with anyone other than rob. He won the surf city marathon in Huntington Beach, California yesterday. We did that race together two years ago. I came in second, rob was third or fourth this year. He went back and blew the doors off everyone. I think he won by 5 or 7 minutes. He ran two 32. The levels in which he has improved is just incredible. I'm so incredibly proud of him. That's rob Moore mohr for the running fans out there. It's just I'm so happy for him. I know how much it takes to win a marathon and it is so incredibly rewarding when you do get to win one. It's just, man, I'm happy for him and how many people in that race. A few thousand few thousand it's a big race, the multiple waves. Yeah. Big one. Wow, that's tremendous. I wanted to make sure we got that mentioned. Congratulations to rob. He's not running now, is he? He's. I think he's, I think he took a day off, but no one hear me probably did a few miles to recover this morning. Yeah, I'm sure. You know, we are real quick mention of since when to sports obviously or overall, the Super Bowl, who do you like? I'm going to say there's some magical going on with that young quarterback and Cincinnati. I just sometimes magic is in the air. I think there might be a little magic in the air with this kid. And I'm gonna say the Bengals might claw the rams with this kid. I mean, I understand the rams. What are they? Four point favorite four and a half point favorite. At home, at home, that's incredible. And look, you're right away, the quarterback at home. You know, there's a story with this quarterback. He's been in the league with a bad team with Detroit so many years finally it's his year that happened for Tampa Bay with Tampa Bay when he left the Bengals and then where does he go? He goes to Tampa Bay with the Super Bowl, it's in Florida. I mean, the whole thing was story book it was like Hollywood written and this has a little this has a little touch of that too, with this quarterback, you know, for the ramps where Stafford, it you could see that. You could see that this time. You know, it comes to ramps the first year bomb. In LA for the Super Bowl and he gets, you know, he gets paid back for those years with a bad team. But then again, the fly in the ointment, the fly in the ointment. You know, just like robs of flying. But in a maritime, you know, a little bit you know and the flying with baby. It just might be Joe burrow. But you're feeling there. I couldn't agree more. From a personal perspective, I don't think anyone can lose for me because Stafford, he's paid his dues. I mean, he was with the doormat Detroit Lions. And he was so good, but with the team and the organization was so bad that it's highlighted by how look he went to a really good team and their defense is just insane. Aaron Donald, I mean, this guy, he needs a triple team among every play, but this I'd love to see Joe burrows get it done. I mean, that would be such an awesome story. I don't think Cincinnati is ever won a Super Bowl. LA I mean, look, I love living in LA, but their fans are like a bit fair weather. They're very transient. I was lucky enough to go to the ram San Francisco game last week sat in the box with some execs from the forty-niners and I'll tell you that at least 50% of that stadium was filled with San Francisco fans. You'd never see that in New England or at a giants game where half the fans are from out of town. But that's the nature of LA. I mean, it's the same thing with all their sports team and not a knock against LA. It's just so transient. There's not a lot of people from their relative to the sports team. So I think at the end of the day, I'd love to see Cincinnati do it. You know, like, do you hang out with regular people? I'm sorry. Can I just say? Do you hang out with regular people or just top executives and, you know, the creme de la crab people like you of the world? You know, the expression show me your closest friends and I'll show you who you are. I try to hang out with people like you that I admire and want to be like and if you surround yourself with great people, eventually it's going to rub off on you. And I pull it back. You got to entry there. Okay, you have all pulled back. Everything. Everything pulled back. Speaking of that, the one thing that is hard to do in life is stand up for things that you think are right and stand by people that you think are good people, even when good people make mistakes and one of those people that I'd like to address with you is Joe Rogan. Joe Rogan recently, they pulled together. They've been out to get Joe Rogan for a while, but the latest attack, they got him pretty good. They pulled together a compilation of Joe used in the N word and saying some candidly some insensitive racial crap that I don't agree with whatsoever. Fans of the show know I have an African daughter that I adopted from Ethiopia. I don't like people using the N word, even other black people..

Larry Elder Believes He Can Be California's First African American Governor - Here's Why
"Why do you have the idea that that you might be able to to win. Well i'm from the hood. I was born and raised in the area of la call. People union which then and now is heavily hispanic and then we moved uptown to south central and i went to public high schools. I can talk firsthand about what's going on with our schools. I can talk first. Hand to black and brown people. Living in the barrio. Living in the hood exactly what the democrats have done. I gave an interview recently to a newspaper called the sacramento black newspaper. And i can tell when i walked in eric. I get this look. I'm an uncle tom. I'm a sell out. I'm an oriole. I'm a coconut all the things i've been called over the years. That's a new one larry. I've never heard of coconut on the sideline out. Yeah i got it. And i can just tell by their body language that they weren't feeling me until i opened my mouth and i said aren't you tired. Aren't you tired of the two-thirds of black parents say they don't want to send their kids now. Back to the los angeles unified district in the fall. Because because of virtual education they were able to see the crappy education. These were getting. Aren't you tired of the fact that seventy five percent of black boys cannot read it. State level viciously. And i told him out of the three hundred public school teachers in california. Most people estimate that all public school teachers in america. Roughly five percent of the era are incompetence if that holds in california talking about fifteen thousand incompetent teachers most of whom were assigned to south central los angeles not to the valley not in the west side but the south central los angeles and yet. You're pulling that lever for the democratic party. The party that's largest funder of the the tissues union the largest funded democratic party forgiven. Do some and they're not giving parents what they want. Polls show that wacko. Brown parents overwhelmingly living in the inner city. Wants school choice yet. You pulling the democratic party. That's not giving you what you want. Aren't you sick of being used. Aren't you being betrayed now after that ran. I'm not saying eric. They became ronald reagan. republicans. But i can tell for the first time a light went on. And maybe just. Maybe they're going to go in there with secret. Ballot check larry. Ob even though he hasn't our next to his name. I told them you can vote for me without telling anybody if you're an independent without telling anybody that democrats because race crime has no color. It's up the declining. Paul schools have as no color. It's down homelessness has no color. It is and the outrageous cost of living has no color and that is why as i mentioned for the first time in our state's history people making between fifty and hundred k. Are leaving and the number. One reason cited leading is the price of a home. The average price of a home in california is one hundred fifty percent more than the national

"Please go there. And i and. I'm hearing her in danger having talks. That's the rumor that she's that she's going to go over there. She speaks well or backgrounds. Fantastic looks good. She checks every box skills. Check finisher check monster check. I mean a promoter's dream at over the. Let's see how you do. You can always go back to. Phil can always go. But that's not going anywhere. Never you could take five steps back and still be champion over there. You'll see you can't five steps. Better become champion. It's worth the risk to me. And she can do it home. She hears for she. Does it best fight up to me of the year. Most entertaining and just just overall was devante. Tank davis verse. I don't know why his nickname super mario barrios. Why he just goes by. Mario barrios i have no idea how not coined the term super mario bar ios dude because my son plays a lot of nintendo switch. And i've mari on the mind but it's such a smooth transition for a nickname super mario borrows. Are you watching super mario this weekend. Who super mario borrows the big ass. Maxine aztec in first of all he. He might lost that night but he won on the outfit. His ass take outfit was fire in. What's crazy is devante. Went up two weight classes this why. It's my favorite fight of the year. 'cause devante goes up to eight classes. There's only men who has. Its floyd floyd oscar de la hoya and get one more many. Maybe manny yeah. So floyd oscar manny and devante the four that held those belts in three different weight classes. So devante was a greatness. Will you don't realize this is how tough of tasks that is. Super mario barrios was so much bigger. And those first five rounds. I would maybe give devante two of those. Maybe one of those but he was so much bigger. It took devante ozzy. I dunno housing it this done. I told my grandma this he's quicker. He's more powerful but this kid so much bigger and he had trouble on the inside for a while and then he started his timing down and starting inside inland. Some shots do. It was such a good fucking fight. He stopped them but once he found and super mario kind slowdown. just eat. just a team. E bit tank started landing. He dropped them with a right hook which is beautiful. Up fainted. came over the top with it. Dropped them there. And then it was fucking on man and i've always i've always been hired tank and i i do think he's a fantastic fighter but i remember being blown away by him. Why realize the reason why. I'm not blown away by. Because in these lighter weight classes he hits so hard is nicknamed tank. for god's sakes. It's so hard that you don't get to see his full potential because he's hitting dies and it's over right like when he santa cruz and he uppercut and with that vicious which is another one weight class he hit him with an uppercut from his dad and brother and basically highlight knockout of the year for last year. Amazing fight when. I thought that was tougher. Fight for him. But you don't realize how good tank that box until you see him. Fight a much larger opponent and you see how smoothie is his technique his ability to not get hit in the pocket. He slipping his jab setting guys up his body work. He so fucking good at boxing his he was so explosive. His timing was nuts but again when he fights these guys he sent them. It's over so you're like. I thank god i guess. He's respectful dude. We saw against super. Mario barrios such a big super mario fan. Now i'm super. I'm such a big super. Mario fan now because he dropped super. Mario morrow pops up in these other way classes. It's over the key lands. It's over not in super mario. Because since he's bigger absorb more punishment he pops up and then you got to fight on your hands and the unofficial scorn with steve far hood. Who one of my favorite people on the planet steph. Far hood for showtime actually had. Devante dave's down cards to go into the eleventh. Made was there also mayweather. Maybe too many chains by sam. He had nine thousand nine chains on. It was like he went to shop. And i came in. Which ones do you like. You like okay. Cool and then he took all of them and just war them. You've never seen human being with more jewelry on than floyd mayweather that night. It must have been so uncomfortable and heavy unless it's fake. Which i doubt with floyd fake it. I'm not even trying to be funny here. Ten chains and i don't mean like small chains like amway. I'm in full. Cuban link fucking fifty cent chains here town of amman. All diamond studded out it was so distracting and such a weird look but also kind of cool such a weird flax it was like dejoy store was like man. We really appreciate it if you just wear like one of these cabin. I wear all of them and they're like all right where all of them. We've never seen that lee that what's he does he. Oh jamie foxx but boss nas so he just posted no caption. Yeah it's such a strange look a lot. It's like he has a neck brace made of gold jewellery. It's a full blown junior ceo preventing your head from fuck in the concussion neckbrace. Look at that thing either way. It was cool. Flu can pull it off in the world can but he was in his corner he goes. Oh yeah. I think it was the going into the length used you're actually down on unofficial scorecard. Devante zych watt. He's a he's a keeping hundred with you man. I'm telling you what you need to hear and tangles like i'm down. I didn't think it was down. I think it was that you two rounds. I think the official scorecard agreed with me. He was actually up two rounds. But the st fatherhood whose brilliant man smart man had devante down because he gave him so many rounds one through six..

"I worked at a convenience store right at my dad's and Yoed newports were not that expensive back. Then you're neither were marvels campbell's none of them. Joe i remember when they were like four dollars in my state i was. Let me give me your. You know your your guests on what you think. Loma chanko is a minus in terms of favor in this fight. How big of a favorite. You'd think they got him. In the bookies the betting lines three forty and you i mean i don't i don't even know like some sores. He's a minus twelve hundred. And i'm just gonna say fuck up minus two hundred. Why why do you give reaction what happened. Talks minus twelve hundred educators. Educate the people. Who don't know why you're reacting this way. Well that's making him a twelve to one favorite meaning that he is such a favorite that somebody would say joe. I'll bet you one hundred dollars but if my guy wins which is which is loma. You know no. I'll have to put up. no no. I'm sorry i'll bet you twelve hundred dollars but if my guy loma winds only got to give me a hundred back. That's what they're saying they're saying this is me and i'm going for nakasone and we're going to bet and i'm low right. I'm going for loma. i'm gonna say i mean less. Bet i'm a bet you twelve hundred dollars okay but if but if but if my guy win you only got to pay me one hundred. That sound like a fair deal. That's what that is. That's you know their true. That's one fifty nakazawa alway. What's not kettani at. Plus though because i know he ain't no damn my i know he ain't a plus twelve hundred there in no way i'm gonna get a little less malta and i'm gonna go ahead and with that fifty or straight mario. He's too much of a favorite way. No yeah i would say the best would have been like six hundred would have been to me still a little higher. I just think that. I think i have to disagree and stop you that. Think it's because you're not frequenting the betting lines on a weekly basis. I'm pretty sure we can. Google search and find loma as big as a minus five thousand for some other fights and that i wanna bring up that minus twelve hundred when i've seen him a minus five thousand in some of his other fights someone's respecting knock kettani is all i'm saying. Think about it. Andy rees was a minus twelve to sixteen hundred depending what site. Meaning you could go to my draft kings and final matt for twelve hundred twelve hundred come to my bookie dot. Ag used that code beck and find him at a sixteen hundred plus rather those are plus for and he was an underdog so my knock. Tiny is only a plus six fifty again. They think he has more probability of winning than they thought. Andy had at the time of beating. Aj's all i'm showing. There are people that believe. Not kettani can win and now and it's not just guys like me. It's people in the betting game. And that's why he's a plus six fifty and not a fucking you know plus six hundred thousand andrea six now. Anything crazy like that They respect them a little bit. Yeah definitely that's what that suggests. I mean i guess if you look at it from that perspective which is very reasonable perspective to look at it. You're right loma. Chanko is coming in at way bigger Favorites in that. You know his minus money was i mean you had to bet a lot to make any sort of real money on chanko fight but you're right it reflects upon his loss for sure but i think it also reflects upon the The opponent and knock itani has momentum heading into this fight you know. That's the one thing. I think if people don't under- yet for sure how he four prevail all that is like at least two three months ago you think. Oh yeah and remember. He woke birthday. It was the eighth came back and ended up. Whooping on day. Hill is showing that. That big resiliency. And i don't had over del put his as down. He was winning the fight. I don't i don't think loma got that resiliency. I think that fight says to me if it came down to it and each fighter had to go down once they had to trade them kinda blows. I'm not even sure. If has a blow to trade let alone get up more than once from me. That's very astute reasons. I think you're right. I just want not tiny. I want kettani to fight hard. He has to fight hard. Listen you have like Like like again. Selena like ugly. Yes not ugly. Active many constantly many punches many like don't give him the ability to dictate the pace. You must control the pace to be loma You know te'o he was able to from counterpunching ability. He was able to wait and be a little more patient. Because he's he's more polished not consignees. Not that even like a tiny even gave te'o problems in there. But i think that was more heightened range like he needed a few rounds to find a way to get in on the taller man I liked this fight and ten dollars eight and not man. Just remember if you go to mybookie dot ag and you. Drop the code betsy. Bv or you want a direct link so that you're sure you're you're helping tv hit me up and i'll send it to you up and send them into a few people and When you win you you come back. You told me a five spot of coffee. Because i'm telling you i like that as a and again it's a bet it's not a prediction. We're not making a prediction. It's a safe bet and again. How do you value safe bets. Ten bucks a pack.

"One guy i say. I've got my money because i went to college. I got advanced degrees and play the market and the other guy says yo hustle hard i drove trucks and then i bought a business. It's two different routes tank. His the truck driving route Josh taylor is you know because of the tournaments and the pettigrew. He's the educated route. If you will. I don't think he has a right to speak his piece but to disparage that truck driver. You'd be a fool to do that. That's why i take it as a slight. But he does have a point having earned undisputed. I mean he get to talk that shit. You know what. I'm saying whether we all listen is another story. That's up to each and every bra. I'm a i'm a some spice to this. Because he is talking shit. I don't know if you've seen as headline that. He says he has a better resume. Crawford be well. There's a lot of hypocrisy out here. Because when cannella moved up to sixty eight spot rocky filled they called it a fake belt. There's lot of people in a rush to call you know whatever division champ this makes him you know and if we go to rocky filled in did he have a better win over anyone in the boxing world. Then call for cairo. Carl boy carl well. It's it's arguable. It's arguable for sure. He john writer. I was going to say. Oh john writer that's right. I forgot ziggy. Because people don't know him. But i was giving them credit for ziggy for going over to to to germany and beating that do for for the regular belt like he wasn't expected to win that fight when he went to germany. So you know unlike barrios right who truth be told them not kicking shea but many thought he you know deserve to give a rematch. At the very least to activate the mac dove whatever that wasn't the case for rocky fielding instead rocky beat john rider who arguably beat callum smith and went to another country like pauline malaysian became a world champion. But you know that was shamed on. That was laugh at now here. We are you know glamorizing and putting this regular title on a pedestal called a mickey mouse bell. Thank you rob. He called it a mickey mouse belt. That's what he said in a lot of people came after him You know. And i don't like i don't have any problems with him defending his status right. But like when we're going to on air and we're going to talk about the fight we have to be honest about what's going on in in the truth is like i did not think twitter was going to be so involved and interested in despite just based on the way that people have been talking the last four weeks. And that's i mean. The good thing is that the josh is a villain like like billy. But he's a he's a obviously he's proven to be a better fighter because he is a unified shirt undisputed champion. But we need guys like him. We need people like him are gonna tell people like crawford. I have a better resume that are gonna tell people. Like jefferson davis. You're fighting for mickey mouse bell. This kid is doing what he's gotta do. Let's get behind him and action sauce that he's bringing to be honest with you because like who else is out here trying to discredit team trying to discredit crawford. Trying to get a fight with ten trying to get a fight crawford no one so let's get behind. Don't i agree because if you if you disparage fighters resume that means you really wanna fight you start talking about ace be signed it splits to meet adding really fight tall. Yeah no you absolutely right. I just think at the end of the day I don't even compare them. I know the fights one forty. I know that there's some sort of title on the line. But at the end of the josh taylor is the indoor be all of that division into mean and and so for me like tank has other a different route about all that like. I said. This is the debate. What do you mean and all that jazz. He's got all the bell. He's not on pay per view. It doesn't matter the tank doesn't matter that matters to take lanta it. It doesn't matter show. Tom did it matter. The mayweather matter it matters it matters to boxing smell view then if it mattered they would be giving you this for free instead. They're telling you it don't matter what they got going on where the biggest fight from one thirty to one forty and doing any event and that's why it's eight hoodie. You're right but that's why they don't care because it isn't event season you guys got it all fucked up. Joshua is now known in the division jocelyn needs tank in the division. Dass teller is mad. Did he accomplished what he accomplish. And he's not getting the attention of tank in the division or other people. And that's why is out here. Disparaging what are you mainers. He's saying what he said because he intake shoes. He wanna jump out the lamborghini. He wanted the dozens and dozens of media. Taking pictures. come on. Let's stop it's sad. It's an array on saturday and you know whether or not you approve of the opponent. Remember was an event when when zone gave Canelo attend fi deal and by sweden and the dilatot woman. Eleven free fight in new york for the for the for the for the regular champion iraqi filter. So let's just stop. Let's just stop until you doing events until you find in america about nothing. We see them numbers how they seriously change when. Aj came from where he's at two america seriously change and it was a completely different game to you. Know he ain't performed quite right under this american son zo. All we know so well. Let's again think there is some you know There is some intrigue to saturday in terms of the paper view. right Last time out. It was a fairly weak card right this time. It's not a great card but the combing event puts it over the top from the last one right. It's a great one two punch that said lomas on free tv and that was the on free. Tv he's on the most watch sports network in america. So what i do is fine. They get and this no disrespect but who shows up to his fine. How many guys does okay. And and and that's fine but but how many people are watching at home saying like how many people are watching at home for us because they're gonna say whatever they want but the views are going to ultimate in casual fans is and the media by the way but isn't terence crawford the biggest viewership person over there on free. Espn i mean. Who else doing terence numbers. I mean what. What numbers are you speaking of loma what. What was the best saying. Is that you giving them credit for the female one. Because that was the spike with the latino. Okay and that's fine but again that seem like the crowd is going to have the opportunity to either pay to see tank a whore tune in to see loss. Ioc not ghitani. But but but you don't have many people at the bar. Just start seeing on tv yummy times. You just try to you. Or they know game on espn. Let me turn your centerman. It's so now you assume that the bar owner. I'm not assuming that the owner who's been in business for having many years and knows that football and baseball and basketball are the american sports. And that's what you put on television. You you just going to say. Oh they're gonna randomly have. Espn plan by is i. Don't i mean tell me that you've been to a bar that isn't showing espn. That's a good question she Comment burger member. Nah i you know. Let's remember that's the question. I look at it happen to know someone by the name of coach midi of soon. Sorry coach midday m idea. No okay because he runs a white collar boxing out. The thing is is white collar boxing london. Maybe yeah that's a big one. I've had that one. Yeah this one was not this really forgotten the name to be on but yeah a guy that runs in his name. Is terry long more. That he kinda runs the. I'm i think he's got a corporate job as well that he does on the sides but yeah he was doing maybe two or three shows a year and them if fringes referred me to you know why not try. See what this book's can do and because it was a charity for as well and you honestly which is an amazing experience. And then when i joined the spend in love with it from them so how many amateur fights did you have so i had ten fights and afternoon for them look had went into tournaments more or less pretty much straight away and just twitter stop shop really and go your national medal. A hiring tied to london tied to a short period of time. So what year would you say. You hooked up with savior so just lost year. Oh so When i think yes when -cribe it happened. And i was basically the week. Look i'm happening in the. Uk is meant to be deletes so we have the semifinals initially that week. And then obviously we all know what happened with the pandemic unfortunately but then thinking about going to do awful. Maybe i could may stay for another season in the amateurs just to get more experience. Obviously but then you know the pandemic hang delayed and dodgers fluid. You know what. Let me turn to the pri- ranked so later on in the year. Probably like end of the summer links. Abby miller he's somebody that i knew from the amateur system anyway because he's been in the game for such a long time anyway showed me love and yeah when out to portugal of see. He was in training camp in portugal. And yeah we did solve a trough session. But i loved it Going really well. He release a shooting of the game is a professor which i love as well And yeah just been ever so he obviously must think highly of you if after twelve months. He's turning you pro- Is it his decision. A your decision. Who who's influenced you to turn professional about both to be honest because when i joined the amateur system in twenty nineteen you know i always wanted to just pick up as much as i could and then see if the professional ranks was for me and it went outside doing so well and remained undefeated. We genoa my style. Anyways crony mo- suits the ranks said at the end of the summer when all speaking says he was up to you like it was some it was definitely something that was in a bowl with that was in my core but he oversees lavar have the talent to do well in the pros now And so that's kind of where we're at with it so being with xavier. Did you happen to fall on the dillion whites management team as well or you being moved and guided by someone completely different yes. It wasn't even a bit different dillion. Maybe not there. He's been completely supportive. I mean it's literally he'd be training and he'd come over to us and you know. Stop doing bad pod work. We'd be on the bag. You want to try this. So he's been completely supported which is great to have that relationship there. But we're doing when moving a bit different because it's not that everybody in the same team to be guided by the same people. You know exploring other options really do you. Foresee yourself ended up with a match room since they're starting to be female. Yeah yeah you have to give you. Praise praises g right and especially in the uk. They've got lows of females thirty way. I think they blow a couple of my weight. But that's definitely something that could happen in the future. You never know but obviously you wanna line yourself with somebody that knows what they're doing with females and not know how to guide females in the right direction. So yeah we'll see i think. My weight into tequila welterweight welterweight and super low two-way. Yeah so in the uk. There's a lot of that will be coming up especially off the be an infant. So we'll see what happens. Wow so i mean obviously with five women getting entitled shots. We've seen ebony bridges moss again. Ah right melissa. About five fights in a title shot interest. I mean if you have the talent like I am following the career of melissa parker anywhere. Her her maiden name is desa. Yeah last weekend. And just one the ibero title. And i guess. If you're like low marchenko would be the metaphor right if you're talented enough to be fast tracked while the what's the wait. She's thirty four so it's like. Yeah what's the way if you're talented. But you know for instance me looking on the outside for you have never seen you find. Never seen you hip do nothing ex. Save you said you know. Let's get the demo on. Let's get her on. And let's hear your sleeping ending said hearing your story knowing you started in white collar boxing. I would assume they're going to give you a slower route. Then five fights to a title shot but again continuing to talk to you hearing the he's turning you pro after only working with you for twelve months now. I'm more intrigued. Maybe you maybe you're a killer because now we're hearing that you're also bigger than normal females. Right one forty. Seven hundred fifty. Four isn't katie. Taylor serrano cindy none of the girls right. Yeah you're pushing the mccallum mccaskill weights the Discussing greco even an bearing in mind. Even though i did. I want qualified member. What We Know About the Deadly Stampede in Israel
"And we're following the tragedy in Israel. Today, more than 40 people were killed in a stampede at a religious festival more than 100. Others were hurt. NPR's Daniel Estrin joins us from Jerusalem. Daniel, You've been covering this since it happened. What more do we know about the stampede? What might have triggered it. Well, just to describe the scene. This is a popular Jewish pilgrimage site. It's the tomb of a revered rabbi and an estimated 100,000 people were there overnight. They were going into the site coming out. There was a huge mass of people pushing against each other, trying to move through it. Zaveri rickety complex. There are passageways and stares and flimsy railings. Police had put up barriers try to do crowd control. But there was one passageway that was a slight downhill. The metal floor was slippery. And there are videos where you see row. Just a row of people in this mass just dropped to the floor. You see a hand reach up in the air for help on Ben. The next row of people fall on top, and it's just it was this pile up. Eye. Witnesses say that medics and police at the scene were trying to pull people out and untangle them and it was. It was just chaos. People were screaming people were crying out the Shama prayer, which devout Jews are meant to say before their death. It's a harrowing scene, to say the least. Daniel tell us more about the festival that people were attending. What was what was this supposed to be? Well, this is the Jewish Festival of Lager Bohmer. This is a pilgrimage festival. First of all Jews celebrated around the world around Israel with bonfires. It's the anniversary of the death of a second century rabbi and mystic. Sheiman Barrio high. That Rabbi is a central figure in Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism. So every every year there's a pilgrimage to his tomb, which is located in the Galilee in the north of Israel. It's a It's a very old tradition to visit that tomb and in Israel, it is Thebes biggest annual public gathering that there is

How Lowriders Were A Protest Against White Supremacy
"The low rider movement was also political as a journalist of the nineteen seventies wrote quote. Low writing culture expresses the refusal of young chicano american to be anglicized. Never been a clear case of the automobile being used as an ethnic statement when mexican-americans drove low riders. They're both claiming their identity. And refusing to become invisible hassled by cops pigeonholed by the media and profiled by the general public. There is often a cost but the reward as it is so often in car culture was freedom. The history of low riding is as old as the history of los angeles car culture itself. If you've been to la or even if you haven't you're probably aware that it's a spread out city of wide boulevards and busy highways. You pretty much need a car to get around. And that's been the case for over a century of the city's history as early as the nineteen twenties. The city had an auto ownership rate of one car for every two point. Two five people compare that to the national average at the time which was one car for every seven people and it's because the tire companies paid to have the public transit yet. They show it in the documentary roger rabbit. It's very enticing to say that there is you know why conspiracy there probably was. There is definitely benefit for certain parties to shut it down but also people also liked having their own cars. So is a mix of things almost as soon as cars got into the hands of angelenos. Enterprising owners dissatisfied with stock sameness of cars like the ford model. A or the chrysler fifty eight quickly got into modifying them and stripping. Wait to create hot rods. Which back in the day were known as hop ups or cow jobs. I'm so glad that word has died out. What is a gal. I've idea let's bring that back. Yeah we got bring back. Dow job algi. That's so funny. My girlfriend said no more gal job. So i get the ones i have running cow job. My girlfriend says i gotta get a real job. Get rid of all my gal jobs. Cow jobs okay. So i found an an inch of blog post on jalopy journal dot com talking about the term gal job and just like hopped up or souped up right how that came from like racehorse giving racehorses like pills pills or drugs to improve their performance gal was also a nickname for like drugs as well So you're gone up your horse. The gow job got it and yeah while the initial focus was on speed some maters quickly became interested in how far they could push the envelope and other ways the great depression of the nineteen thirties was an added incentive for kearns iast to fix up and modify older cars rather than buying the latest and greatest the predominant car culture was creating hot rods. But there's a counterculture developing especially among the mexican american community that was a direct reaction to the dominant mostly white rod. Seen at first it wasn't known as low writing. It was just lowering your car. Also popular was chopping or lowering the roof of the car. Decorating vehicle's exterior with designs and replacing stock interior components with plush luxury substitutes. Still the term low rider hadn't yet been coined in the thirties. The clear predecessor of low rider history in the chicano community was a co style. A slang word that roughly translates to punk or troublemaker. But you goes were known for wearing zoot suits slipping their hair back and duck tales a distinctive pattern of slang and in association with swing in jazz. Music is so cool. I watched like archival footage of and they're just like i wish i could pull that style off. My grandpa had zoot suit back in the day. I wish that you are the same like personality. You had the same job hobbies but you just were every day. I'm like accidentally slamming the coattails of my zoot suit in my impreza. Guys look pretty cool. Still pacheco's weren't necessarily associated with a specific style of automobile wasn't until the fifties that mexican american culture started to really embrace the low rider aesthetic in the nineteen fifties. Many white hot-rodders chose to raise their car turning away from the sleek look that had been popular before the war in the words of chicano artists gabriel gibson. White drivers quote went into hot rods and fast cars. They would raise their cars. These big all motors these big trucks but the raza for the race says now i want to do the opposite on a nice and slow slow and low. The one thousand nine hundred fifty saw the true emergence of low rider culture especially in los angeles in the postwar period. Los angeles was a hub for american auto manufacturing. Second only to detroit with ford chrysler and general motors. All operating assembly plants in the area matching if that was still true. That'd be cool. Yeah bill alice. Ten cities ton is stan. Low rider culture. You have to understand. The history of los angeles and it's mexican population originally founded as a spanish mission to spread catholicism in the seventeen hundreds by the eighteen hundreds it had evolved into a forming and ranching up while the land owners were initially of spanish and mexican descent by the eighteen fifties white americans began to dominate. Los angeles is economy and governments prize surprise. Although mexican americans. And even chinese immigrants outnumbered white americans white angelenos still held most of the political power in the city while the white neighborhoods of los angeles boomed tocado in hispanic populations were increasingly regulated to urban ghettos or barrios especially in the east los angeles area away from the pacific ocean and the downtown core at first these neighborhoods were little more than shantytowns but after world war two the population of l. a. began to explode. The city had one of the largest populations of mexican people living anywhere in the world including mexico. Thousands of mexican americans who had served in the war returned or moved to los angeles and with the cash stipend provided by the gi bill. Many of these vets had the income to afford a car of course despite the improved economic times mexican american communities were still far from the luxury of beverly hills or the film set glamour of hollywood. I'd say hollywood is trying to say that convincingly knowing that hollywood is not very glamorous. Yeah i'm sure back in the day it was but the thing i find funny in interesting seeing like torres families like german tourists in like they're blonde hair and jean shorts like walking around hollywood so confused. Yeah well this is a this place full of like forty dollars suit stores and like weird pizza places. If you're coming to la don't go to hollywood. It's pretty bad. Plus all the studios are like in culver. All the studio sony's in color but most of them are in north hollywood. With their means of expression limited. Low riders became an important symbol of personal expression. Freedom and cultural independence

Argentine soccer great Diego Maradona has died
"That Tom was talking about for the Seattle Sounders no doubt are very, very good players, but I think they'd be the first to tell you they couldn't hold a candle to one of the world's all time greatest soccer stars whose died now three days of national mourning are decreed in Argentina. Traveling To Medellin
"Let's open today's travel with Rick Steves travel writer Dave Seminar. He took his whole family to many in Columbia which used to have a reputation as the headquarters for a dangerous drug cartel. Our interview was recorded just before the global lockdowns kicked in. Hey. Thanks for having me on the show wreck. So you went to Medigene I, mean the image of Medina's like scariest a generation ago is one of the most dangerous cities on the planet. That's right. But but it certainly isn't any longer. I mean these days the murder rate in Medellin is lower than New Orleans Saint, Louis Chicago and several other cities as well. It's an amazing turnaround and. Tourism. Is a booming part of the economy I was just there. My son loves it so much. He bought a condo there and I was there for years this last year with him and we were standing on his balcony and and everybody was blown up fireworks and My son had a Colombian friend there with him and and we were talking about. It and when the Colombians see those fireworks, they remember in the days of Pablo. Escobar. That's what they would explode when they made a deal in the United States with the with the drug trade they're not making deals with the drug trade anymore with the Pablo Escobar outfit that's just celebrating. So they've gone from supplying America's cocaine habit to actually building A. City on live biting entrepreneurs. That's true. They I Columbia is still does produce eighty percent of the cocaine I mean to be frank. However look I went there with my ten and twelve year old sons and my wife, and I would never take them to a place that I thought was too dangerous. So I really consulted with a lot of different people before. Going, there, however, my parents and several other people said, Columbia. You're taking your sons to Columbia you nuts but I did my research and I talked to enough people who had had great experiences there that I felt comfortable doing it and we spent two weeks traveling all around the country and I felt very safe. The whole time tell us about the public tour. It was interesting. You know my wife said Pablo Escobar to are you sure that that's appropriate for our sons who are ten and twelve years old side I called one of the tour companies that had good reviews on trip advisor and he said Oh yes our tour is good for children aged six and up said really okay. Well, let's do it. We thought maybe we can teach them. Okay. He's a bad guy you know here's the. Evils of drugs and teach them a little bit about why the drug violence in and I thought maybe they a lot of it might go over their head but I thought well, they'll learn something. Let's do it but you go through a you goes through your neighborhood community thirteen, which is now trendy. It's filled with street art and is just a festival of good living not good living. It's still a poor area but a festival of happiness. Community Thirteen is sort of an interesting area I've I've found it to be one of the more disappointing stops to be honest with you on the tour I mean, it doesn't really have much to do with Pablo Escobar although it was a neighborhood that was wracked by gang violence, and then in two thousand eleven, the government installed a series of escalators there the idea was. Allowing people to be able to move safely through the community, get from their hilltop neighborhoods down to where jobs and transportation and things of that are. But when I was there in July about the experience maybe if you traveled at a different time of year, you might have an off more authentic experience, but it was absolutely full of tourists which really shocked me because here is. Sort of an impoverished neighborhood that has all credit to them. I. Think it's wonderful. They found a way to turn the violence of the neighborhood into a marketable commodity, but it was absolutely crawling with tourists and I sort of felt like, wow I really don't like going to places that are too full of tourists. So for me, it fell a little bit flat to be. Quite honest. But maybe if I visited another time of year, I would have I would have liked more. No, I don't think. So I mean I was there in the winter but to me, it was a former violence ridden gang ridden community that now is a kind of a tourist trap and it just like an amusement pier in San Francisco, almost or something like that. And what was really fun was the street art I mean, the street art was like it's like going through an art gallery and it's all this edgy colorful tropical kind of street art and you've got it all together by escalators I can imagine before those escalators came you know ten years ago you would have desperately poor people and You'd have the intimidation of the gangs and all of that and and the high murder rate and today there's there's not a hint of that and the escalators let people connect and I think you know the way Columbia has invested in its infrastructure has given poor. Barrios the confidence and the feeling that this is progress and changes possible and and one thing great about going to Medine is you write these cable cars because the city is in a very mountainous area and the poorest communities are pushed way up the mountain sides. But these cable cars, they're just like cable cars had a ski resort. They connect the people in the poor neighborhoods with the good jobs and the good shopping and the good entertainment down in the valley floor and writing these cable cars was just a kind of a celebration of community to me what was your experience on those cable cars? Well I love the cable cars just like you know I took the cable cars up to the park. RV. which is it's a long ride as interesting things that you take two different sets of cable cars. You can take one set of cable cars, which sort of goes through some of the rough hillside neighborhoods, and that one is actually fairly quite cheap to go through and actually when you're. On that first cable car, you're actually getting ordinary people who live in those neighborhoods coming on and off of your Gondola but then to go on the second. Gondola. which takes all the way up the mountain up to the park RV, which is just fantastic and I do recommend that that significantly more expensive so that that second cable you know Gondola is more for tourists in it's it. Would be too expensive for people who live in the humble neighborhoods. But as a traveler, it's worth it's worth it to do both at the lower part words the transportation for the community you you get a sense of the community and you get to talk to people. It's Kinda cool because you're floating above all of these barriers and then after the top city, stop you sort of plateauing you. Go across this amazing lush forest in a giant National Park and they're the only people still on the cable cars are tourists who can afford that but you get to the terminal point way in the middle of the park and I think the locals will come in there by bus, which would be much cheaper because it is a a wonderful jumping off point for for hikes in this nature reserve. Yeah. So the neighborhood that Pablo built I mean now it's called Barrio Pablo Escobar, Pablo Escobar's. But it was originally called million sin to a jury US medicine without shantytowns and the idea was he was really trying to improve his image in the country and he built about three hundred and sixty six humble homes in this neighborhood for people who are down on their locker many of them were homeless and actually living in a garbage dump area and in that region and you talk about street art they're. So there's a number of murals celebrating Pablo. Escobar would say that most Colombians despised Pablo, Escobar and everything he stood for. However in this little neighborhood and I met some of them. There are people who still revere him as quite a small minority of Colombians I would say, but you see mural several murals right in this borrow Pablo Escobar. Depicting. El Patron the hero, the Robin Hood that you're talking about in and some of those people, and there are some young hustlers there who are very interesting entrepreneurs. One of them has created, which you'll find in in the middle of this neighborhood is a Pablo Escobar memories. Museum now there was another Pablo Escobar Museum that was run by Pablo's brother, which was actually shut down and it wasn't in this neighborhood with the government closed that one down. This one is sort of a homemade sort of museum that some young hustlers in the neighborhood of made, and they also sell visits to the US through some of the homes where you can tour the homes and. It's kind of it's bizarre but yeah.
