How To Get on Podcasts as a Guest

"One of the most free questions. I get asked about podcasting is how do i get on other podcasts as guest and its frequent for good reason because people know that podcasts are powerful way to market themselves to get out there to be known. Nobody wants to be ignored. But how do you get on a podcast. You just use cold outreach. Do spam people in their inboxes. Asking to be on their podcast. What is the most effective way to regularly show up on other podcasts. Well i'm going to tell you share with you my system so you can lineup guest appearances for the rest of the year. First of all. I want to address something. That's very very important. One of the things. We all have to come to terms with no matter where you are in your entrepreneurial. Journey is understanding. Why you should be on a podcast. Not talking about the benefits here. i'm talking about. Why would a podcast host. Won't you on their show. You have to honestly answer that question for example. Take a look at some of the bigger podcasts. Out there W f by marc maron. Joe rogan the jordan. Harbinger your show. Why is elon. Musk being interviewed by. Joe rogan. Why did richard bring it on the dribble. your show. Why did president. Braga obama get on w. f. with marc maron. How did that happen. That cold email. joe rogan. No probably the other way around right so the first thing we have establish is the more value can add to an audience. The more likely it's going to be that you're going to show up on that podcast. Let me say that again. The more value you can add to an audience the more likely you will be a guest on that podcast so elon. Musk shows up on. Joe rogan because joe rogan knows. His audience wants to hear from him. He sought after the something here. There's something that he can offer. That makes it worth him trying to get him on the show. One of my favorite podcast interviews is with jamie fox on the tim. Ferriss show and tim for a shares that it took him years to get to the point where he knew jamie foxx enough to convince him to get on his podcast. He had to put a lot of work in a lot of time. A lot of sacrifice a lot of investment and. I'll talk a little bit about how he actually got jamie fox at the end and how relates to today's lesson. Why did tim ferriss go through. All that effort will because he knew the jamie foxx would be a brilliant episode who share incredible stories. He has a lot of value to add. So i want you to start thinking in that way. Yes we all are not jamie fox or president barack obama but we can add value to an audience and we could start somewhere we will have to start with the can show right. We can start with smaller podcast with audiences that are more niche that can really benefit from what we can offer but a lot of us get disappointed that. Hey i'm reaching out these podcasts. And they're not getting back to me. I can really offer a lot of value. Omar will one of the reasons why they're not getting back to us because they just never heard of you or they don't really have any kind of rough of what you can deliver so we're going to solve this problem immediately. One of the best ways to get on a podcast. If your brand new is to be noteworthy that means you have to show people that you can deliver for example if somebody wanted to get on a podcast and they just reached out by email and said hey podcast. I'm an expert at seo. I think i'd be really valuable to your audience versus somebody who says hey. I'd love for you to have me on your show an seo expert. I should talk about how. Google has become the dominant search engine and y. Here's a link to that ted talk hoover's opening the email whoever's reading the email whether it's the host or the executive system that works for the host. They have a lot more mature work with now. They have a reason to say. Yes they have a ted talk to watch and say. Wow this person's credible they really delivered Enough people in that room were willing to listen to this person. He commanded an audience. Might be worth having on the podcast so you have to really give them something to say. Yes. this is why your own content is really really important until you have a few great interviews under your belt where you can share those in your pitches then you need to shoot something else whether it's a youtube video whether it's a bestselling book up performance onstage. Give something to. The decision is easy. It's an easy s now. Our which is one of the ways you can do. This is one of the strategies. I used in the beginning where i literally would go to the pages of all the podcasts. I wanted to go on. I emailed them and Ask them to be on. And i gave him some materials to kind of look through to know that. I'm legit but a more effective way is what's called a warm introduction. Introductions are one of the best ways to get on podcast and it's the fastest way to get a. yes now. there's a few things you can do. Let's start with one of the easiest step step number one is do you know anybody. That's been on amy podcasts. As a guest. Look at all your friends on facebook on social your emails. Is there anybody in your network. That's been on a podcast guest. That knows that can vouch for you if so ask that person. Hey can you introduce me to that. Podcast you're on. A warm introduction is an easy way for them to say. Hey that gas was good and the recommending somebody. There's a good chance that somebody is going to be worth my time. This is why. I really emphasize the importance of building. Your personal network making friends in your industry because you can always help each other out vouch for each other and remember. I talked about how a lot of just don't know who you are. The more you network the more. You're well known. There are so many people. I know that are so good at networking yet. They don't have a best selling book. They are not a social media phenomenon. But if i say their name people know they are because they are great at networking. They're great at making friends in their space and people like that will never starve because they can always find opportunities because they know somebody. So get a warm introductions one of the best ways to get on podcast. Next piece of advice is your aim. Should be trying to get on five. Podcasts doesn't matter the size of the audience or how newer old the podcasts. Is you wanna get some rips. You wanna really understand the process and you want to deliver. Will you wanna do in those first. Five is be the absolute guest that podcast has ever had. I'm talking about study. This podcast study everybody. Who's in your niche or have spoken about the topics that you might talk about in the interview or in the podcast episode and cover things that haven't been covered address issues. Problems challenges that other people haven't addressed on the podcast before you want to be the most guests they've ever had you want to be the jamie foxx episode. Okay why because this is how you're gonna viral market yourself if you knock it out of the park. And you're the best episode for each of these. Podcasts podcasters listen to other podcasts. And the here episode the blake. I gotta get this person on my show and that really worked for me. I work super hard on making sure. I nail my first interviews. That i crush it that i really deliver value. It's my only goal. I'm not trying to promote products and services if the host talks about my websites or my products. That's great. that's fine. But i don't even mention the asking. That question is are any way people can reach out to you. I give out my e mail or give out my twitter handle and try to get the conversation to continue on those mediums. The point here is that you just got to really nail. This not only will help you with the viral marketing of a. But it's a great set of interviews that you can use as samples of your work when you reach out to other podcast to be a guest on. My next tip is make a list. Make a list of all the podcasts. You want to be on. And it's okay if you shoot for the stars and he may even wanna work to that list so like number. One is joe rogan number two. Is tim ferriss. Show whatever just you know naming names here. But you have your favorite podcasts or the best podcasts you want to be on and work your way down. you know. it's okay if that list is one hundred. Two hundred three hundred podcasts. And see as you know a a bucket list you know. I wanna cross these off. And i want to get through all the podcasts as much as possible. And don't forget new. Podcasts are being launched all the time. so you're gonna want to update this list but the list is great to have so you can track your progress and is literally just a spreadsheet on google sheets. You know the podcast name. The podcast host The link to the podcast. And then i actually have a column or linked to my episode. Once i'm on it when you're starting out on another quick tip. I have to say this. But i've noticed some people don't do this but when you're starting out when you're trying to get on other podcasts. Dopey a prima donna. Okay don't be too precious. A lot of people. Don't want to fill out forms. They wanna do pre interviews. They don't wanna do the initial chant. Sometimes they think well this established business successful This is beneath me and this podcast is not popular anyway. Why should i do this. Well you should do it because if you wanna get on the show. That's what needs to be done. There's no room for pride here. You want to get on the podcast. Go through the format. It's good for you helps you prepare helps you do your best when it's time to actually be on the podcast and you're on the road of the actual episode. You gotta earn your stripes. You might be successful in your own area in your own business. But you're entering a new world podcasting and you're nobody here. I don't want to speak on your behalf but if you're a beginner you are still earning your stripes. You're still proving yourself as good guest as a gray guesses a valuable guests so run through the steps in the is as needed. And sometimes you're going to have to do all these kinds of hoops and prepare and schedule months in advance before the episode of airs. The better podcasts. Actually you know. Have a pretty long lead time. Some of the bigger podcasts. I i've been on. They had four five six months of lead time. But as you know time flies so put in the work now so you can reap the benefits later.

"Well, that that's that's the attacks that air coming down the pike when the Commies get in there. They have taken your right to vote. Your vote doesn't mean anything anymore. They don't even care about hiding election problem anymore. That's evidence. Anybody who believes that Joe Biden got 84 million votes. They need they need reprogramming. You can't tell me that that Barack Obama between his 1st and 2nd election lost three million votes. But this the food Beaten back by 20, plus million getting afraid well, and in the second election of Barack Hussein, Obama got 66 million votes in 2012 66 million and 2012 rent a fabulous campaign. Filled up arenas everywhere. Voter registration drives everywhere and, according to the so called counters abiding, got 19 million more votes than Obama. And Trump received about nine million more votes than he got in 2016. And I'm looking at that scene. I sense something is wrong. But it wasn't proven because it can't be proven because the federal courts would not allow trials to take place. There's not enough time for the trials, and it's a consequence. Whatever the states say happened. You have the court's going to go with it because they're knocking overrule the election. It's like a self fulfilling prophecy. In all these states immediately moved to start destroying the evidence. The day after the election That's illegal in every state, Even California Chris, you know, I don't think the average politician in Washington understands how the bubbling anger is occurring and so called trump country and then his and the expression of it has got to be nonviolent. There's no excuse. If you're not, for example, Chris and you say you belong in the capital and not you, but The riders that went there. There's certain times in a place for everything. You have no right to go into a building a public building that's closed, even though you may have paid for the federal courthouse. Potter Stewart Courthouse when fifth Heaven Fifth Street downtown. It's a public building, but when it's closed, you don't have a right to go there and to go in, and if the doors are locked a right to break down the doors, and so the capital was closed at that point to the public, and and those individuals broke federal law by causing millions of dollars worth of damage, and the fact is the people's House. Ex-Defense secretary blasts authorities for not being better prepared to prevent the Capitol siege

"Panetta. Now he has spent many hours with the U. S. Capitol is a former congressman from California. He also served as President Bill Clinton's chief of staff, as director of the CIA, and as defense secretary for President Barack Obama. He's on the line now. Secretary Panetta. Hey, there. How are you? Well, I think we've all had better days. How are you doing? I hate it. This is, uh In the 50 years over 50 years of public life that I've had. This is without question the most disturbing day in my life to see what has happened. At the Capitol of the United States. I think it's a sad day for for our democracy, and it's just it's a sad day for our country. Reeling off all your past titles Just a moment ago, drove home to me that you've served in Washington from just about every vantage point, a person could have what has shocked you most as you have witnessed events unfolding today. Well, there were You know a number of thoughts that crossed my mind. But I think first and foremost was just the fact that Uh, we I think we all knew that something like this might happen, Uh, that there were these protesters who had come to Washington that we had a president. Who was inciting the protesters and actually went there this morning to incite them as well and that as a result of knowing that this could happen But it just strikes me as incredulous that steps were not taken to better secure the capital of the United States on make sure That the business of the country could be conducted without having a riot. Take place. How much responsibility and your view does President Trump bear for this moment? How much responsibility do the members of his staff the members of Congress who have supported him? How much responsibility do they bear? Well, I'm afraid there's probably a lot of responsibility to go around. Obviously, beginning with the president and his attitude about The the fact that somehow hey, won the election when that simply is not the case on continuing to talk about a rigged election and continuing Theo to go against our Constitution, and obviously, those who support that position obviously have contributed as well to the acts that ultimately took place at the Capitol today. And those who basically supported the president's position, I think have also contributed to what we've seen take place. I I also believe frankly, that those responsible For securing the capital and making sure that this did not happen. Also bear some responsibility because it strikes me that whatever Whatever precautions they took were totally inadequate to deal with the protesters and with those who were intent on going into the capital s, Oh, there's a lot of responsibility to go around number one, though. I think it's absolutely essential. Restore order to the capital to make sure that the capital is cleared and number two to allow both the House and the Senate to get back to the business of the country. Which is to count the electoral votes on Duh announced the new president of the United States. Well, if you were back in government picking up your phone, who would be the first person you would call what did the immediate steps that need to be taken? To restore order. Well, Unfortunately, the president is AWOL from his responsibilities. Normally under any other circumstances, President would be the one to take charge of restoring order. But that That's not going to happen with this president, so it really does require the leadership of the Congress, both Republican and Democrat to make clear that the capital will be secured. That the protesters will be ejected or arrested and that a perimeter will be established around the capital that that will provide security for the future. In terms of the Congress on what what needs to be done? And then in addition to that, make sure that both the House and the Senate convene as soon as possible in order to complete the business of the country.

"And foremost happy new year to all our listeners. At the ever present risk of tempting fate it does feel like two thousand and twenty one can only be an improvement on two thousand and twenty one. Primary cause for optimism is the fact that after january twentieth earth's most powerful office will no longer be held by america's worst on imprisoned citizen description. Correct as of this broadcast between an untamed pandemic economic crisis and the spectacular mess made in general by president. Donald trump president elect joe biden faces a daunting oval office in trae won joint first of all by christchurch mcnichols news editor and by suzanne lynch washington dc correspondent with the irish times in this first part of the show. We'll look mostly at what president-elect joe biden wants to do and will do domestically but chris festival on that thought of succeeding donald trump. How much political capital does joe biden inherit just by virtue of not being donald trump. Well to be honest in some ways. That is a question that will be. I think more important end to discuss in the second half of our show. We look at foreign policy. Because i think that is where there is arguably a lot more political capital. You know joe biden will enter office of this month to lead a country that is still extraordinarily divided. It has to be said that whatever Court decisions were taken efforts to reverse. This election rejected by courts and by many academics. Who saw you know and others observers. Who saw no real evidence of fraud. It is important to point out. I think that potentially a majority of republicans are going to come into this year. Voters believing. Joe biden is illegitimate that that is not correct. That is not that is not what happened. But it is nevertheless a danger for democracy. And it's something that really i think is important to watch. Joe biden essentially has a tremendous amount of goodwill from half of the country who expects him to reverse many of the policies that donald trump implemented over the last four years and he will do a number of those from day one but we should not forget the other half of the country that will be causing a huge stink about all of this and it will be very interesting to watch how he tries to bridge those gaps particularly when it is such a strong divide as i say even in the sense of many just simply not even seeing him as their president suzanne to bring you in that division that chris delineates the is going to make extremely complicated one question. Joe biden will have to grapple with which is what does he do about donald trump. Does he as best he can. Just ignore him and hope he goes away or does he turn various congressional committees and the department of justice loose to try and get to the bottom wherever it may be of whatever. Wrongdoing was done. I don't think joe biden instinct will be to do that. I mean joe biden has presented himself very much as the kind of the nation's healer. He's talked about his own track record when he was in the senate for so many years of working across the aisle with republicans and working productively republicans. Now some might say that. Joe biden is suffering from naive radio. That washington has changed. That things have become much more polarized on they have in the last decade or so so he for example has has quietly hinted at his relationship with mitch. Mcconnell mitch. mcconnell is more more than likely going to be leading. i'm the two men have worked together. Particularly joe biden was vice president and mitch mcconnell in the senate and but even still you know. We saw mitch mcconnell reluctance to add call. Joe biden president-elect even though he had had won the election so that is a major at challenge for at for joe biden is going to be handling congress also. The problem facing him is democrats did very badly in november's election in terms of their seats. Both the senate and the house so not to pelosi now coming into a new year coming into a new congress with a much reduced majority and that is going to make things tricky for her. She's going to be tried keeper own party in check and i think a lot of the more left wing elements of the democratic party. Who basically were prepared to put away their differences with the establishment democratic party. If you like to try and defeat. Donald trump i now all gloves off and i think we're going to see this element of the party. The bernie sanders winged. Aoc wing. you know. Really kind of be vocal about what they believe. This joe biden presidency should deliver so i think you know that whole political reality of how washington is going to work with the mats in the house and the senate is going to be a constant challenge for joe biden other tries to govern. We'll chris let's look at the most pressing issues that will face president joe biden which is of course the covid nineteen pandemic now. Obviously there are grounds for optimism. Which is that a vaccine exists but it is going to take a while to get it to everybody. We are still months away from normality returning to the united states. Between now and then is there anything. The president biden will actually realistically be able to do to make an obviously already dreadful situation slightly less dreadful. Well i think he is going to try his damnedest to do that. he has set this or that that we all know now of Essentially a one hundred million doses of the vaccine in his first one hundred days disseminated to the public That's an ambitious goal. Although at the same time it it should be said that this was A goal if you will of the trump administration as well And this was. This was something that was planned. They had essentially bought one hundred million doses for the first quarter But the biggest challenge that we are going to see this In these first one hundred days is really going to be how that is disseminated. How is it gotten through to hospitals. you know and how states and local authorities cooperate with the federal government in order for that dissemination to take place how the army is potentially involved. It is a herculean task to get all of these vaccines out as quickly as joe biden has promised and i think it's going to be interesting because on the one hand you know he is as we you know he's he's still not president until january twentieth much of the work on this has been done by the trump administration At the same time there is you know there is this risk if you will or you could also put it in a positive way. There's an opportunity in that joe biden. I think will very quickly find that. This becomes his pandemic to deal with. And that he will be reckoned with in terms of how he is able to get certain programs underway. That means that his people his entire operation is really going to have to hit the ground running incredibly quickly when they take over in particular because they also have not gotten that much help that much cooperation from the trump administration in the transition. Suzanne joe biden has of course being in the white house during one previous dramatic intervention in the united states economy. When he and barrack obama arrived in the wake of the two thousand eight collapse will he be tempted towards something similar in the current circumstances or preceding more on the assumption that wants the vaccine is taking effect. The us economy will more or less sort itself out. Well it's it's a very good point. Under i mean i think there are lots of parallels here actually to what obama faced obama joe biden back into into a nine and you know even between the election on the inauguration i mean america. I'm particularly america then. The wider world was embroidered the biggest financial crisis in decades. And they have to deal with that. So yes there are a lot of parallels i think joe biden has a proven record on this and they were able to pass the tariff act. They did the the bailout fund for the auto industry hugely complex pieces of legislation. Where a lot of money involved. And that may well be the case. Again i mean the. Us economy at the figures december have been worrying. There has been worst. Jobless figures than had been expected am the signs of recovery. We saw in the late summer. You know really didn't continue as we kind of got into that second. Wave around thanksgiving time so i think the economic consequences. This you know are really not getting. Maybe enough attention here. Obviously so at the figures are overwhelming in terms of the deaths the infection rates and but there's also a huge impact on the economy. And i think we're going to see i. I believe around the world. It's it would probably accentuate this. You know the difference between the house and the have nots. If you like you know the poorer are are people who are have lost. Their jobs are in less secure. And yes we're seeing the stock market. Do very very well throw twenty twenty and a lot of people. You know hoarding cash. Essentially as saving. So these kind of issues i think are going to be front and foremost for joe biden particularly. I mentioned already because of this very strong left wing within his party. They want joe biden. Who who has been pivoting. More to the left economically i think for example compared to say a hillary clinton at the time you know four years ago and i think he has suggested you know with his pick johnny yet and his treasury secretary. She talked about for example. The need to address structural issues economic inequality along racial and gender lines in the united states describing how they are important for the economy to address that. So you know what he's going to do in terms of getting more covert relief. Package is going to be a key element of this first one hundred days in parallel to the huge logistical challenge of getting those vaccinations out trying to encourage people to get vaccinated etc and again. This is all going to depend on his relationship with congress and these are going to be. It's going to be a lot of money involved in this and Republicans in particular in the sandwich have been At loggerheads with democrats out late twenty twenty about the size and scope of a of any rescue package for the american economy and you know commentators ironic air pointing out the national dash went way up under trump a now are we going to start hearing republicans complaining about the national debt. So i think that whole aspect as i say in parallel to the the health issue is going to be a key concern for biden in the first few months presidency. Chris susanne mentioned there a couple of members of president-elect biden's domestic team we should talk about obviously the highest profile member of that domestic team which vice president-elect kamala harris do. You anticipate that she'll be a more visible and obviously engaged vice president than usual because it's going to be a very different relationship. Between her and president biden vice president biden had with president barrack. Obama perhaps ironically as things have turned out biden. wasn't really seen as a natural apprentice. successor To the much younger president he was he was running alongside whereas you already. Since there's a a feeling gathering kamla harris's president in waiting. Well i think To continue the two thousand two thousand nine parallels in in some ways. This is a sort of the reverse of that. As as you're discussing. Because i think when joe biden came into office as vice president he sort of provided the experienced the heft to the to the obama administration as the time as the sort of political establishment candidate for you know a relative neophyte in barack obama at the time and so his role You know he was. Obviously you also had before that dick. Cheney famously is maybe the vice president who really transformed the role but joe biden sort of ran with that and he was this You know incredibly powerful Very involved vice president as involved if not more involved than dick. Cheney was as vice president you know before that vice presidency often was seen as this very unimportant role and so i think in that sense perhaps looking now to kamala harris In some ways there's a reverse there because she is not the one providing the heft if you will joe biden is now even more experienced than he was back then so he will be the the fully experienced leader if you will in this campaign In this in this white house And so the question will be in that sense. What kind of room. He is willing to give kamala harris. What exactly she is going to put her stamp on In terms of us. And i think that's still a bit of an open debate. He obviously picked kamala harris because they have a good working relationship. She is somebody who was Arguably more of a centrist than some of the other candidates that he could have picked. You know she's not from the bernie sanders wing of the party. I think that was important because in wanted to pick somebody not only who was historic in terms of being a woman. I african american as well in the vice presidency But really somebody that he could have a good working relationship with in order to use her as both a trusted adviser and entrust her with leading on certain issues. So i think it will be very interesting to see how that relationship plays out and finally as you say as one point he obviously has not expressly said it but many would assume. There's a very good chance that joe biden will be a one term president and so in that sense. Yes this is. Come a harris's chance to really show that she is the one who will take up the mantle of being the leader of the democratic party of the future christchurch. Mac thank you for the moment.

Trump pardons Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Charles Kushner

"Trump parted another batch of loyalists including Roger Stone and Paul Manafort tonight. Charles Kushner, the father of Mr Trump's son in law. Jared Kushner also had his legal record wiped. The president made this new batch of clemencies just after leaving the White House for Mar A Lago in Palm Beach, Florida ABC News Political director Rick Klein joined W. T. O P s Dmitri Sodas to take a deeper look at those pardons, stunning series of names, the kind of list that you can't imagine any other president ever. Compiling about a month before he leaves office. These are political loyalists of the father of his own son in law, Jared Kushner, among them in Paul Manafort, Roger Stone to individuals who remained loyal through some very tough legal times. They really brought upon themselves the president clearly using his power now, on the way out the door to reward loyalists in ways that would be unfathomable. You know the any other administration. This is not The normal channel or the normal course of business. These are not people that would have been pardoned, or Heather senses committed by any other president, but saying oil to President Trump has paid off for them. Can we talk about the Mueller investigation as sprawling and wide ranging as it was essentially being undone here? Is that my my overreaching or is that correct? I think the president is systematically taking away the accomplishments and undermining The very real prosecutorial work that they accomplished particularly with the Paul Manafort conviction. I think the Roger Stone one probably fits into this is well, you had a office inside the Department of Justice that was very aggressively looking for things that were prosecutable, and they found them in many cases, and now the president is coming out and saying This whole thing was Was a witch hunt from the start. And that's That's what his former national security adviser, or, you know, already the beneficiary of one of these pardons one of these computations and I think yes, I think anything associated with Mueller, the president is more inclined than most to say. This is something that I can undo with this pardon power we have heard in recent months. Defenders of the president point to the sheer numbers that is that other presidents maybe take Bill Clinton as an example, may have actually pardoned more people in the end and that President Trump should Not be criticized for using one of the few powers that a president can wield. Shall we say unilaterally, and he can use it, But I think the criticism is very much justified when you realize that this is not the normal process where people petitioned for the Department of Justice, you get a recommendation not to say that other presidents have never used political loyalties, particularly Bill Clinton in the past, But we remember times were Where there was outward lobbying on George W. Bush for Scooter Libby from his own Vice President Dick Cheney. He's still resisted and said, No, I'm not gonna issue that pardon. Actually, he was pardoned ultimately, by President Trump similar for Barack Obama. He did not consider pardons that that would have that kind of personal connection. They went up to the Department of Justice. The president has this part in power, he can use it. It's one of the few unchecked, unchallenged powers, but it's clear that President Trump is using it specifically to single out people that have been loyalty to him to pay off political patron's political donors, people in his own family. It may be setting up the ultimate pardons, which would be potentially pardons of people in the inner inner circle and maybe in his own family. There are partners on the way out the door of his sons of his daughter, Ivanka, maybe of himself. That would be the ultimate tell and truly without precedent. That's ABC News political director Rick Klein, who joined us on Skype.

There's no doubt about it but not any new places and he's removing troops from afghanistan. General mark milley chairman of the joint chiefs of staff suggested that just two large bases and several satellite ones will remain for the twenty five hundred soldiers. Who stay so. They're still going to be a couple thousand troops on the ground there but on the ground. The situation is getting worse. The taliban is launching more attacks and taking more ground and thousands have fled their homes for those people. A peace deal seems a long way off and many are losing faith that it will succeed. They have to do less work but it also means that they are they can talk to themselves and as a consequence of the way our democracy our republic is structured. They don't have to appeal to as broad of a base. That's not fair. But i i at least would prefer not having the progressive model ourselves out of our model ourselves on on the curb republican party. I asked him about his legacy. And what part he might have played in the rise of president trump. Let's talk a little bit about. Let's loosen things up. That's unbutton one of those one of those buttons on the ship as someone who i consider to be one of the best deliverers of jokes and and roasts. Are you going to be more careful going forward about who you roast and i say this because you roasted donald trump. He ran for president. You roast a kanye west. He ran for president. So i don't know if you've noticed but you have an ability to inspire people to run for the highest office in the land with some of the jokes that you tell about them. I should i should roast people a people i admire more i'll start. Roasting you know although you were born here so but look look. Apparently who knows before. I let you go. I want to know one last thing. And that is being. President of the united states is arguably the toughest job in the world when you transition back to personal life. I wonder what that is like because unlike you. I don't have that power. I've never been able to just change a thing in the world or do something about it but now in many ways you are like me in that you see on the tv and then you get angry or sad but you cannot really do anything about it. And so i wonder as as former president barack obama have you. Have you transitioned into that completely or do you find different ways to try and fix the problems in the world. Well first of all. I'm not anything like you. I still have a lobbyist. So listen clear. Come on man perspective. I was hoping you'd hoping you just let that slide. I was hoping you'd just be like yeah. You know as look. The truth is that i did not have those kinds of withdrawals and i know that there are people who i know who've had them when they leave public life and very visibly in other they want to get back on stage. Michelle and i. That's something we share. We feel good about the work we did. We don't feel about not being the center of attention. We get frustrated. Like i think citizens around the world and here in the country do when we see something unjust or unfair and yes. The goal i think for us is to find new ways to have that same impact understanding that will never have the exact same impact as you have office but you know a lot of the work around the foundation is you said. Create a lot of obama's. I'm not sure that's the goal. But if ten years twenty years down the road there thousand ten thousand nine hundred thousand young people who are now moving into positions of authority and power and in some ways have been shaped by our example in a positive way that that's the legacy that may exceed anything that we did while we were in our formal positions and and that feels pretty good. Could talk to you for hours. But luckily i have a seven hundred page book to answer the rest of my questions. Thank you for joining me. Thank you for taking the time. Barack Obama clarifies his criticism of 'Defund the Police': 'Not the point I was making'

"Nothing made me more optimistic. During a very difficult year than the activism that we saw in the wake of george floyd memorial and black lives matter and i have consistently believed that their courage activism media savvy strategic resolve a far exceeds anything that i could have done their agent. I think has shifted the conversation in ways that i even imagined a couple of years ago so throughout this this slew of compliments i then said well what do you think about. Be particular slogan defunding. The police and i said well that particular slogan i think the concern is that there may be potential allies out there that you lose and issue always is. How do you get enough people to support your cause that you can actually institutionalize it and translated into laws rights and so forth or two or three brighter. Who i admire. Who wrote out obama's making an admission to chastised black lives matter and you go what hold on a second. I just spent the whole summer. Complementing remember what are you talking about the reason it caught attention. I suspect is there. Were some in the democratic party. Who suggested the reason we didn't do better in the congressional elections. This time was because of this phrase that people assumed that. Somehow i was making an argument that right. That's why we didn't get you know. A bigger democratic majority. That actually was not the point. i was making. I was making a very particular point around if we in fact want to translate the the the the very legitimate belief that how we do policing needs to change and that if there is for example a homeless guy ranting and railing in the middle of the street sending a mental health worker. Rather than an armed untrained. Police officer to deal with that person might be a better outcome for all of us and make us safer right that if we describe that to nudge us white folks. But let's say michelle's mom that makes sense to them but if we say defunding the police not just white folks but michelle's mom might say if i'm getting robbed who am i gonna call and is somebody gonna show up right so the issue here becomes at any given. How are we translating and using language not to make people more comfortable quote unquote right because that's always a strain and historically all the concern in these debates is also as often or are we just trying to make white people comfortable rather than speaking truth to power right. that's the framework. We tend to think about these things right yet. The issue to me is not making them comfortable. It is can we be precise with our language enough that people who might be persuaded around that particular issue to make a particular change that gets a particular result that we want. What's the best way for us to describe that and basically saying is we should workshop all of our slogans with michelle. That's what i that probably would be wise. It would probably work. But but i wanna go back to something you said earlier which i think is really important and i said this in the wake of of some criticism i said look. Part of this is also. Everybody has different roles to play an activist movement. Leader is is going to provide a prophetic voice and speak certain truths that somebody who is going to be elected into office will not be able to say i reread james. Baldwin's a fire next time this summer. How is it that something written fifty years ago fifty five year. Yeah yeah applies directly today. Despite everything that's happened to me that is as honest a portrayal of the the gaping wound of race in america.

Rice served as national security advisor and ambassador to the U. S. Under former President Barack Obama. She also misled Americans regarding a terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, which is why Mark Geist, former Marine believes Rice is unfit for this position. Joe Biden looks in somebody like Susan Rice, who we know has lied to the American people about Benghazi. Who has zero experience and domestic policy and, ah lot of failures truly in her for policy, even outside of Benghazi, and how she handled that more

"But i still need a congress. I still need to make sure that we have a majority in the house of representatives. Because if i don't i can't get any a single law passed if i want to change something. On criminal justice reform it turns out that the federal government is actually in charge of most criminal law. Most criminal laws made at the state level and determined by state prosecutors. Most police departments the federal government has nothing to do with. That's determined by the mayor in that city whether they're prosecuted when they do something wrong. That's up to the state's attorney or district attorney in that area so when we think about politics. It is a mistake for us to say okay. Once i'm i've voted for president i'm done and i hope people don't repeat that mistake with biden and kamala harris right now. We've got two seats in georgia coming up if the republicans win those two seats than joe biden combine will not be able to get any law passed that mitch mcconnell and the republicans aren't willing to go along with you gotta do a better job of letting people know. Hey i wanted to do a lot more. People who couldn't could mitch. Mcconnell was blocking me every chance he got well. That's why i wrote the book. That's why everybody that's all. I'm saying about the interviews. I hear some people. Listen to you about georgia. Where not i see. They're giving him issues about his alliance with jeremiah. Wright tell him he should step back and denounce him at this point. Though first of all it is a losing game at this stage to just go chasing crazy commentary Y- there's some things you have to answer aggressively but you can't obsess over. It is doing a great job. I if i'm him. I'm going to be emphasizing. What am i. Positively gonna do on behalf of the people of georgia at As opposed to just try to play defense against a bunch of crazy stuff. That's coming out there but but listen. It's hard winning georgia dislike. It's hard winning. Iowa is like it's hard when in a lot of the country and one thing. I think that. I hope the book also reminds us of those of us who live in. Dc or new york or la. Sometimes we do not have a a good enough sense of how big this country is and how a lot of folks do not accept at all things that we who are. Living in urban metropolitan areas just take for granted off south carolina. I know yeah. I made us. You know you go there big chunks of the country even in our own communities right. I mean so so. I deeply believe that people should be treated equally under the law regardless of sexual orientation. I was shocked. You talked about in the book but we all you know. I mean i think the big chunks of our community where that's still controversial. People were surprised about A lot of hispanic folks who voted for trump. But there's a lot of evangelical hispanics who you know the fact that trump says racist things about mexicans or puts Detainees Undocumented workers in cages. They think that's less important than the fact that he Supports their views on gay marriage or abortion right. It's hard to believe when you say this but then you look at the way government is ran right you you talk about instance you look at these big businesses and and you look at their taxes and they don't pay taxes at all and then you look at somebody who is just getting by paying as much tax as possible and you look at for instance the pandemic taskforce that you created in man. You see trump coming off shuts down and you think to yourself dam if that task force was still around with so many people have been dead being killed. When we'll be able to save lives we would have saved some lives. Here's one simple statistic canada right right next door. Their death rate is forty percent of what ours per capita i. Don't you know. So for every hundred americans that have died. Only forty canadians have that. And that's just a matter of their government making better decisions so the the question though is is that you still had seventy billion people voting for a government that I would say objectively has failed miserably in handling just basic looking after the american people and keeping him say why is that well. Part of it is because It turns out. Politics is not just about policy. It's not just about numbers is about the stories that are that are being told and that story that they're hearing from fox news and rush limbaugh and in some cases inside their churches is that how democrats don't believe in christmas and you know Only care about minorities and black folks and are trying to take your stuff and trying to take your guns away and right. There's a whole story. That's being told to them and people end up feeling as if you know what we are under attack. The what's always interesting to me is the degree to which we've created you've seen created in republican politics this sense that white males victims. I bet they're the ones who were like under attack which obviously doesn't jibe with both history and data and economics but that's a sincere belief you know that's been internalized. That's a story being told and how you unwind that is going to be not something that is done right away. It's gonna take some time some rumors in this book. How different because you know. When i hear that i'm like amateur catering to white raises all the time. I wonder how different would the dim strategy be. If we lived in a one man one vote society with no electoral college. Or i think that would help. But take a simple example like the senate so wyoming which has about half a million people has the same number of senators as california with thirty three million people right so what that means is that the us senate is hugely skewed towards some of these lower population.

"Yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo on inslee charlemagne the garden to the planet guess what day it is just what day it is all i yes today is so special i'm gonna tell you why why is today special I think next week on the second. It'll be ten years that we've been doing the breakfast club correct for ten years for this whole week we could things given. We've never ever been here live vacation one time. All somebody were always outta town. It's just the week of thanksgiving. We're always off well so on e. With his white man's holiday we decided to come in for one day in one day only for very very very very very special occasion. Very special reason right. There's a book out called promised to and promised land rights written by a guy. You may know. wasn't they kind of popular. I guess who is he was named the forty. Five president of the united states of america is listening. Barack hussein. obama. Never heard of barack hussein obama who that and I guess you could say we were summoned. We don't have all of that Fancy ass technology. That oprah has the where she can be in our house and win make it look like her and moroccan. Say room. now we don't have those so we had to get cova tested in Fly down to dc. Make sure we were properly. Socially distanced to sit and kick it with president. Barack obama not only that they took all social security numbers. Wrangler protocol you know. Made sure that actually also need that. Don't you need that to get the covid test. Do you know information all that. All that information was on full full secret. Service protocol run it. Make sure we were good morning. I've been vetted before. Actually i i'm ever got vetted i didn't path at all we all but you didn't pass that one. Yeah but you know since then. My life has changed so president. Barack obama will be joining us next hour. We go with the president Doesn't it yeah. That's the only reason we -cation Didn't even know he would come in. I was like wait. We have a show tomorrow. Yeah i mean. I think it's only it's only right president. We sat and chopped it up with him for almost all right. So we're also we usually You know play snippets of the interview on hair and then put the whole thing up on youtube. It's morning we're playing the whole in every play in the whole in seven o'clock yeah so We'll we'll get into all that It's only reason the only reason we have anything else. You got to feel free okay. We got front page news next. Well let's talk about who. Joe biden has selected for his cabinet and let's also talk about corona virus. This vaccine is supposed to becoming in a couple of weeks and we'll give you some updates on the side effects all right. We'll get into all that when we come back a lot this the breakfast club on morning. Everybody is tj nv angela. Shall i mean the guy. We oughta breakfast hatton next hour. Yes barack obama president. Barack obama will be joining us right. And we're playing the interview in full so no songs in between no commercial breaks no commercial breaks down in between no four fifteen fifteen fifteen. No forty-five minutes straight forty five hundred forty finesse. I dunno i just ask them right. There blake no commercials. We won't be going straight. It was only a couple of people can do that. There was like Barack hove beyond say. Michelle obama and only four people. I can get on here without planning. We can debate it also. Let's get some front page news. I don't even know who's playing football tomorrow. I don't even know. I'm i've been chilling at home. Come on man cowboys redskins. Who cares about those exactly so wasted time. They should be social distancing from the nfl. All right what else. We guy but joe biden is building out his cabinet. Since we're talking presidents that's our president elect and there's fifteen executive and so far of course comma harassment was vice president secretary of state is anthony. Blinken secretary of homeland security is alejandro. And that's a big win because he actually is the first latino and he's also the first immigrants serve in that position so that's gonna be a a big deal right now because you know we've had a lot of issues with immigration in this country and dhaka and all of that so this could be something and he says that he would have never seen himself in that position so he's hoping to help people who are fleeing from persecution and other things come into this country for a better life all right yes and Donald trump is finally seems like allowing this transition to happen. Joe biden had tweeted out. The election is over. It's time to put aside the partisanship and the rhetoric designed to demonize one another. We have to come together so yes it. Looks like begrudgingly. We are gonna move forward. See this normally. I just i just don't see it. I mean relatively normal by trump's hasn't been don't see it ending just just normally i just don't see it. I think he'll be going party map people. He pardoned manual. You need to start himself. I don't know if he can do that. Donald watching cnn last night. They don't know if he can actually do that. It's never been done before if nothing in the constitution as you can't if i'm not mistaken it doesn't have to be locked up. I i have no idea. Us covid nineteen cases. could reach twenty million. They're saying by inauguration day on january twentieth but by december tenth. They're saying that they could start Soon after december distributing the covid nineteen vaccine. They are going to start doing some testing in pregnant women and children though so you know a lot of people are reluctant to actually take this vaccine but right now they have to show that it's safe and make sure that group can take it. They also said that Doctors are saying that. The cdc warn people about the side effects from kobe vaccine shots and they said it will not be a walk in the park. So you have to get the first shot of the vaccine then you have to come back and get a second shot also requires two doses and doctor is worried patients. Come back won't come back for a second dose because of the unpleasant side effects after the first show that could include Symptoms like muscle pains chills headaches. Which is also symptoms associated with malikova nineteen and. They also need to make sure people are aware of that. You governor cuomo in new york and you hit joe biden. Who say that. We have to get this to the african american community. I because you know they're the ones being impacted by it the most. They don't feel like that about anything else. They don't feel like that when it comes to bed education. They don't feel like now and come to the economic equity packages. You know they don't feel like that when it comes to mental healthcare resources and our communities wadi such a rush to push this vaccine in the house it. I want to know health care where the healthcare workers in they said the elderly. And then everybody governor. Cuomo joe biden both said verbatim out of their mouth. We have to get this to the african american community for us. Because it's impacting the most. But i know they give it to healthcare workers. I know that was the first step in an elderly. But i mean. I'll be honest with you i. I'm at a point right now where i'm like yo. It is what it is. If i gotta take this vaccine i'm gonna take the vaccine. I missed my mother my father. I can't see them on thanksgiving. I probably won't see anymore more christmas. I'm tired i wanna see my mom. Can i call. My mom came out. Can i get my data hug. I'll be right behind you go guinea pig. Oh go guinea pig. Go get out there go. Do you think they might make you be permanently black right. You might not have the die. No more turned black. But your skin turns agree. Take that vaccine i. I won't die as long as i was so many people dying like this has been a fw. And i wanna. I wanna see mama pops. Like i want to spend time with the moments in time for thanksgiving. I don't want to zoom them for thanksgiving ash is well. Guess what thanksgiving's tomorrow on somebody today with a vaccine. You better not take it. Hey heard you want to see you got some needlepoint wrong with. You might be arrows and five. Joe biden cabinet. Dr ruth simmons needs to be his secretary of education because we are not the greatest and most long lasting former systemic. Racism has been in the education system. So there's not a black person that's gonna be Tre treasury secretary roussy be secretary of.

What GOP Senate could mean for Biden's climate agenda

"How fast will climate policy shift under a president biden. I'm npr teeth meteorologist. Paul hunter here with climate counts. President joe biden has laid out a dramatic shift in climate change policy. But the makeup of the senate is still uncertain. What could biden do and not do with a potentially divided congress. Former republican congressman. Bob inglis is executive director of the conservative climate action group republic. Espn dot org. Hi bob welcome to climate cast expo. It'd be with you in a recent inside. Climate news piece. I saw you said a divided. Government situation may give rise to the best opportunity for durable climate solution. What did you mean by that. If you run something on one side of the field only then when the pendulum swings you know it can be undone and so the thing that comes with divided government is the opportunity to do this in a bipartisan way. Therefore is durable biden frames a lot of climate change policy agenda in creating jobs a green jobs and infrastructure energy auto manufacturing. Do you think that that can get some buy in from senate republicans that's gonna be the the thing that Will have immediate bipartisan support. I should think which is basically incentives to make it possible to transition to clean energy. I mean if you look at the polling data if we trust anymore you know. I should probably about pulling if the pooling debt is right It shows broad support for the concept of clean energy. President-elect biden has of course a history in the senate do you think that gives them a better chance of cooperation. Really hope it's gonna be different. This time You've got one of the reasons. That is joe biden was in the senate for an awfully long time so he's got cheap understanding of the way the senate works. He's got deep relationships with senators. Yeah there is you know last time we did. This is barack obama and he's only been in the senate for four years before it became president. And you had sadly this racial overlay cola. Name names like secret. Muslim american socialists. There's no reason to call the man names. He's left of center. And i'm right of center but We we shouldn't have done that Indications joe biden like. He's an old white guy like me and show. It won't admit racial element to it. Let's talk about what a president biden could do on his own. What specifics could biden change regarding greenhouse gas emissions with executive actions. There's something that he can do for example issue Executive orders that undue president trump's executive orders if he tries the next step up from the order which is regulatory action could run into some trouble with a six three conservative majority in the court so really we need to go up to the next step which is legislation. And that's where it's so important to find bipartisan consensus. We've seen this huge boom in renewable energy production Some progress in electric vehicle growth. How much can a president accelerate that process. President can accelerate through some executive orders But the most powerful thing the president can do is set a very ambitious agenda for solving climate change and particularly making sure to see it as a worldwide problem. We've if we're just solving for climate change in the us where we're cleaning up local air which is nice but we're not solving for the challenge of climate change in order to do that. You really have to get the whole world. And that's that's what takes real presidential leadership former south carolina. Republican congressman. Bob inglis. thanks so much for sharing some of your perspective today. Hp with paul thank you.

"Minutes after the hour congresswoman maxine waters will be very special guest. You do not want to miss it and you didn't want to miss yesterday are forever President Barack Obama Campaign for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. This was in Philly South Philly just outside of Citizens Bank Park President Obama had some choice words for trump. Take a listen. I get that this president wants credit for the economy he. Inherited and zero blame for the pandemic that he ignored. But you know what? The job doesn't work that way tweeting it the television doesn't fix things making stuff up doesn't make people's lives better. You've got to have a plan. You've got to put in the work and along with the experience to get things done Joe. Biden has concrete plans and policies that will turn our vision of a better fair stronger country into a reality. We literally left this White House. A pandemic playbook would have shown them how to respond before the virus restart shores. They'd probably use it I don't know prop up wobbly table somewhere. We don't know where that playbook win eight months into this pandemic cases are rising again across this country. Donald trump isn't suddenly going to protect all of us. He can't even take the basic steps to protect himself just last night he complained up an area that the pandemic made him. Go back to work I'm quoting here. He was he was upset that the pandemics made him go back to work if he'd actually been working the whole time, never would have gotten this bad. So, here's the truth I want to be honest here this pandemic would have been challenging for any president, but this idea that somehow this White House has done anything but completely screw this up is just not true. Now. That's how you talk. That was all. Right here that bitch. Yeah. Come. Off. Yeah. He was so relaxed and calm and confident I mean he's never really spoken like that. You know not really. You know he's always been smooth and cool and know. Yeah, we let him have it. He let him have it fact. He's Can't. Be. tweeting at the television. Had It is Smith. Nine every since you got it off as you try to destroy everything I've done. You spent more time trying to destroy what Obama did. Then pass something that you can claim your own. You've done nothing you inherited an economy that was no recession when you took over. The stimulus package had saved the auto industry, save countless workers and the economy was rolling you inherited that. and then you try to take credit Ford. Played us on the pandemic I. Don't understand why we talking to people get yo ass to the poll in both. Sick and He's asked me to be present you nuts. Nuts. If you don't go to the polling vote, get him Outta here. Sitting here talking about black lives ain't nothing but a Marxist communist movement. Do you know that black people don't give a damn about communism? Can I tell you that we have enough to concern ourselves with communist? What. We were trying to hold them life to just be a mic. Be No damn, Communist. What? Constitution to apply to US but the hair, we're go and go to another one full. When the wall we got ain't even working for us. All Right Steve Yeah, you're right time for today's don't ask me. Ask. For the headline. True. Thank you very much okay who white man from Frederick Maryland is under arrest in facing federal charges for allegedly threatening Democrats Joe Biden Accountable Harris Forty two year old James Dale Reid admitted that he made threats in a handwritten letter left on the doorstep of a home October fourth saying in part quote, this is a warning to anyone reading the letter. Nightmares about anyway the officials say that letter goes on to threaten violence against the White House candidates and sexual violence against Senator Harris President trump and former vice president Joe Biden go head to head tonight in a final debate Democrat you'll Biden said to now have a much bigger campaign war chest than Donald trump but even while he's lagging in the polls, the trump team is predicting a win this year that the president insisted he'd have when he first won the office in two thousand sixteen to win four more years in the White House. Is the most important election to the history of I feel that way. So strongly soda you that's what he said when he was inaugurated trump says he'll win again because of the enthusiasm of his supporters pointing to the massive crowds at his rallies in key swing states the White House now says it's optimistic by the way about there being a bipartisan agreement on a corona virus relief bill by maybe tomorrow Congressional Democrats. have been talks with negotiators for the trump administration over the last several days working on ironing out their differences. "You've had some really good advice I, think for Democrats both in elective office in citizens. But some kind of you put on your candidate hat, your your old community and political organizer has you know Democrats. As a creature, we tend to be nervous and what advice to people so that they sort of focus on. Organizing and not agonizing over the next eighty days. What's kind of your checklist for them? Well, look I I actually think that the people are thinking about this the right way during the primary, there was a huge amount of hype understandable. That's what the press does. Nothing wrong with it in emphasizing. All the internal differences among Democrats and Ill in was the Latte versus the center and new generation versus old generation and this and that, and the other my impression is now that. People feel good about this ticket. I thought the Joe did a wonderful thing. Not just politically, but it was the right thing substantively to engage Bernie Sanders after the election put together for ses hammer out some consensus platforms on big issues like climate change and. Economic inequality you look at what's contained in those documents Those are serious well thought through ideas that really you know. I think potentially can make a difference. So the good news, is that a lot of so-called divisions within the Democratic Party I think are not going to be a major factor in the election I think everybody's unified around the idea that everybody should have healthcare and that the affordable care act which I'm very proud of needs to be built on. I'm the first one to believe it. So hopefully, I'll mice borders due to it's not an insult to say that we can improve. What we got started there I think all of us care deeply about climate change and Joe has serious. Specific plans to make big strides on that front having all of us are concerned about issues of race in this country and. The continuing. Stain of racism that affects all walks of life but in particularly the criminal justice system. I think again although that's primarily a state issue in terms of day-to-day. Practice Joe's got I think serious plans to make sure that the federal government's on the right side of that. So I think from a policy perspective, there's broad unity there. But the main thing I would say to people is rather than worry about things you can't control worry about the things you can write and I will repeat the one thing we can control. Is Voting. We can cast our ballots like we never have before i. do think maybe there's one aspect of this that I should I address. That is voting among young people in particular which you and I have always stressed about. Because the interesting thing about young people is they are the most progressive..

"You mentioned you know the current president. Today. said that they're GonNa Starve the post office. So that makes it harder for people to vote by mail. We've never seen this before. This does seem to be a threat to the entire enterprise not to be too dramatic. So I'm curious what some of what you think Democrats in Congress can do about this. What should they be doing to make sure that you know the worst doesn't come to pass here. Look the Democrats are doing the right thing. which is to say we are in a crisis we are in emergency they put forward a proposal P- months ago. To make sure that people got additional relief that small businesses got additional help. And that certain parts of government including the Post Office As, well as state and local governments that are getting clobbered by this crisis. Also, get help so that they can keep on doing the important business that they do to help the American people in all kinds of ways. And for. Reasons that you and I probably don't completely understand other than. I. Guess. Pure ideology on their part and this. Consuming. Hatred of of government. The Republicans. Didn't put anything forward so You had negotiations between Democrats and Republicans in Congress. Go to last minute there now deadlocked. You now have the president throwing in this additional monkey wrench trying to starve the postal service I think the democratic leadership in Congress, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have. been very clear and they want to do what's right by the American people, and that includes making sure that the American people get direct relief and help. because. That's good for all of us. Even if you still have a job, even if you haven't been as hard hit you've been lucky enough that. You haven't had to rely on. These additional unemployment benefits and so forth or small business loans. As we learn two, thousand, eight, two, thousand, nine if you have high unemployment and people hurting..

"Climate Change Science. How to get the vote out of A conservative senator. In. Your Caucus. What farmers in Nebraska are thinking about? Corn prices you're not gonNA. Have all that. What you can do is assembled the strongest team possible. And create a culture that says. Let's all focus on a problem. Let's bring in top experts. Let's look at the facts. Let's challenge assumptions. And then the president has to make a decision and what I think Joe. Always showed me during his side of the White House was he enjoyed that back and forth he wanted. And encouraged me to access experts. It's one of the reasons why I'm confident that he's going to be able to put us in a much better footing when it comes to Kobe nineteen, it's a sharp contrast to the current administration that seems to purposely. Try to ignore or contradict experts, and I think the fact that he chose camera is an indicator of his comfort would strongly people who've got strong views, right well for Joe Biden Commonly Harris to dig us out of the hole we're in now they I have to win the election. And you know you're a very competitive person maybe not everybody realized that from the outside, your com customer but I think you helped us in our campaign to make sure everything was concern we never rested right and so in the best of circumstances, good campaign staff and candidates don't take anything. Ryan. But now we have a pandemic we have the central way that many people may vote by mail, the US Postal Service under attack. So what's keeping you up at night I? Mean there's a long eighty days between now and election day, and so what should we think about this? What can we do about it? and. How concerned are you about just the execution this election may affect its outcome. Look. As you said I, worry about everything. But Joe Biden has the right candidate. He's now picked an outstanding running mate. And those are big pieces of the puzzle..

"And most importantly, I think she's somebody who is going to be able to give joe sound advice and be a terrific sounding board when he has to make tough decisions during the course of his presidency you know the thing about Joe that was so valuable to me. It wasn't any particular portfolio that he took although as you and I both know he did outstanding job helping to manage the recovery act and help rebuild the economy after. The financial crisis and the terrible recession in two thousand and seven two, thousand eight P. was critical on a whole host of big foreign policy initiatives that we had and helped wind down the war in Iraq. But the most important thing Joe provided was just somebody who's judgment I trusted so that after we had gone through briefings and Puzzled over what options were available to solve big problems. I can say to job, what do you think and I knew that he would give me. Reasons advice and he would make sure that whatever advice he gave. Was Private and if I made a decision that was contrary to what he was advising, he went out there and sold it. That kind of trust is something that I think Joe and Carmela can. Develop and I think they'll make a terrific thing. I very much agree with that. So I'm curious you know this decision is often referred to as the first presidential decision someone makes even though they're not currently in the Oval Office I remember back when we went through this twelve years ago when you're up picking Joe Biden, Yussef Axelrod, Ni- around to visit some of the finalist and you said, listen I WanNa make sure you guys. There's not something on missing I'm interested in universe but quite frankly not. That interested because I gotta live with this decision like it is a lonely decision right it really and it is in many ways. I think so many decisions you make in the situation room in our lonely but talk about that a little bit because it is something you have to live with and I think in this case, you've got that decision. Right. But I think it does shed a lot of light in terms of how somebody might make decisions president. Well at the end of the day, you have to be honest with yourself and understand what it is that you think will help you be the best possible president. And what I like about Joe's decision is it shows. A quality that he always displayed during the time that we were together in the White House, and that is he is not afraid of or intimidated by strong people who have strong opinions he welcomes debate and he welcomes. People who can bring something to the table. That he may not have and that was certainly one of the reasons I felt good about choosing Joe. As you'll remember at the time Joe was not the person I was closest to of the candidates they'll. We were different Nadezhda different in background is politics were a little bit different than mine. But it was precisely those differences that I thought made him. Ideal. What we shared was some core beliefs. Support Values, and as a result, I had a basic trust in him. But I've said this before. There's no way as president. The United. States that you are going to be an expert on every subject that comes before you. You are not going to. Have mastery of..

Geo TV, battleground states all that right in front of us and who better to give us some unique perspective than someone who knows a thing or two about that because he's actually been in the arena. Hope you enjoy this conversation with President Barack Obama. President Barack Obama thank you for being with US David. Good to talk to you brother who would have thought I met would be talking through an APP called squad cast on something called podcast right? Well, let me just say that. I did not. As, you'll remember during the campaign I was good about getting tech issues to twenty five year olds. That was not my forte, right? Right. Well, one of your four tasers making good decisions. So let's jump at our old friend. Comma Harris was picked just a couple of days ago by Joe Biden to be his running mate, you put out a statement on this but expound if you could a little bit more on what she's going to bring to both the ticket, and if they win the White House and what it says about Joe Biden that he made this choice. I think it was terrific decision and indicative of. The kind of decision making Joe is going to display. Once he gets to the White House he chose somebody who would be prepared on day one to soon the presidency in. The event that that was necessary. He chose somebody who is experienced at just about every level of government. He chose somebody who shares his core belief that everybody counts and that it is the job of public servants to. See and empathize with and. Embrace the dreams and the struggles of. Americans from every walk of life out there so that we can help knock down some of the barriers that stand in the way of true opportunity and a better life for everybody and. Elkana somebody I've known for years she is smart she is. She is somebody who? I think will be able to share the stage. With. Mike penser whoever else and? Dissect. Some of terrible decisions that have been made over the last four years that have helped create worst problems then were necessary..

"Voter ideas racist I think it's insulting for all people. It just is. If voting is so important as the Democrats say that it is. Then wouldn't that be important enough to go find some form of identification for yourself. And show me one person who is not able to identify themselves in the modern era today. I just I have no tolerance at all whatsoever for this argument. So, Obama also endorsed other Democrat reforms including an end to partisan gerrymandering extending statehood to Washington DC and Puerto Rico and making election day a national holiday. Now why is? Wise Barack Obama, talking about all these things remember the left is obsessed with power. We as conservatives we as Christians we as decent and reasonable people you might not be any of those things but thank you for listening. We are the thing that drives us is not power. It is the liberty of human beings indecent and stable and peaceable lives whereas the left, they want power what would granting statehood to DC Puerto Rico and making election a national holiday do well for one if DC was a that'd be two more United States senators. So that have one hundred and two senators portable, one, hundred, four senators, and election. Day a national holiday even though we have voting month where you have early voting all over battleground states and where I grew up in states that I visited, they have voting booth that are so abundant that around every single corner starting early, October not to mention, you could vote absentee by mail not a big fan of it. Some people have to do it. That's fine. Everything that President Barack Hussein Obama. was arguing. For was trying to make it easier for Democrats to be able to win national elections. That's it. That's the key. And so. Brock. Obama. Also went after Donald Trump incredibly unfairly by the way he said this. There are those empower doing their darndest to discourage people from voting by closing pulling locations and targeted minorities and students restrictive ID. Laws. Even undermine the postal service.

"Kirk when you do you'll say fifty percent off your first month. So, what is the John Lewis Voting Rights? Act Before we get into this I, just want to say that. Democrats treat black people like they're really stupid. Democrats treat black people as if they have no. Agency, to be able to identify themselves or be able to operate without some sort of Democrat puppet master controlling every micro decision in their life. And so there were two decisions shelby versus holder in two, thousand, thirteen and Abbott versus Peres. Thousand and eighteen, which they say gutted the Supreme Court decisions. First of all those decisions allowed you to have voter ID in certain states. So Shelby county versus holder was the attorney general of the United States before Loretta Lynch Eric, holder Rangoon's to the Mexican cartel so that Americans could be killed. That was as US Supreme Court ruling regarding the constitutionality of to provision of the Voting Rights Act of nineteen, sixty, five section five, which requires certain states and local governments to obtain federal pre clearance before implementing any changes to voting laws or practices and section four, which contains the coverage formula that determines which jurisdictions are subjected to pre clearance based on their histories of discrimination in voting Abbott versus Peres unify decision written by Justice Samuel. Alito a great Supreme Court Justice God bless him. The court upheld the current redistricting maps as valid districts outside. District Texas House District Ninety near Fort Worth which the court found was an impermissible racial gerrymander remanding the case to lower courts to correct the redistricting to eliminate the racial gerrymandering. Thank you for listening email us freedom at Charlie Kirk Dot com freedom at Charlie dot com. Obama. Calls for Renewing Voting Rights Act, the Hill Obama Calls Filibuster Jim Crow relic backs new voting. Rights. Act Bill. Now again, the left, they're phenomenal marketers who could be against the voting rights act. Well, the media is painting Miss. The activist media is painting this as the civil rights issue of our time. It isn't vote by mail might be the single most important issue heading November. But because the Democrats plan to use it to corrupt the voting process, we've had Tom Finn on our program previously. That is talked about this extensively and go back in the archives Charlie Kirk show to go listen at Tom Fit from judicial watch talk about this very topic the media's playing into this NPR national public radio just sound sent out a push notification on Apple News and we can get deeper into this but the Republicans on hearing against big tech they did such a poor job in some ways because I would love to know who exact I wanNA know the human beings name of WHO's in charge of what gets a push notification us and what I want to know who is in charge of that. November and new poll finds well, how about the young people show up to vote because they're not at risk to die of the virus about that? In what a deceiving headline resources to go vote by mail We have created such soft young people. It is just unbelievable.
