Roger Bennett (Men In Blazers) on the Return of the Premier League

"We Win Stadium you will be at home. I can promise you will feel you support. Stay safe. We are still with you and. You'll never walk alone. That was liberal F. C manager Jergen KLOPP in a message released yesterday. That will bring a tear, not just the eyes of his supporters. The dare I say anyone who cares about the most popular sports league in the world. That's right folks. After a three-month hiatus. The English Premier League is back today. Roger Bennett from men in blazers fills us in on these frantic few remaining weeks. So grab a pint and US as sub optimal tour of English soccer. I'm sorry, English football. I mean it comes. It's Wednesday. June seventeenth. This is ESPN daily. Presented by marathon. Roger! Kim's. Are you relieved? Your any skin daily and not my NFL pod, talking about your beloved quarterback Mitch Trubisky You Know God Love Mitch. trubisky is an incredible pressure to be knowing that your whole life is just destined to pan out to become the answer to a trivia question in about ten years, who was taken ahead of Deshaun Watson Patrick Mahomes. Roger Bennett is suffering bears fan. He's also the CO host of men in Blazers on the NBC. Sports Network and the men in Blazers podcast by just braced for him to end up with the green. Bay Packers, leading them on a fourth quarter drive two feet, my beloved Chicago Bears, and I can't wait for that movement. They'll probably deserve it. And we're not talking about bears football today. The wait is over the English premier league. The most Popular Sports League in the world is back after a one hundred day hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic Roger I'm sure you've been getting your fix from Bundesliga but I have to imagine the return of English. Soccer is hitting a little different for you. One hundred days feels like one hundred years to be candid. I've been staring at squirrels running up trees in the park, and feeling the adrenaline burst of a run through midfield, watching raindrops charge down my window and feeling just an incredible wing-play into play of missed from the primarily, but yes, it's back today with its global ratings I mean in Britain for much of Europe for much of the rest of the world outside of the United States, it's kind of a seismic as the NFL and the NBA rolled into with the Pantheon of heroes and villains to moments of glorious ecstasy, searing dispath fuse with dodgy haircuts snack tattoos. One hundred days off. When are going to have ninety two games scattered almost daily over the next couple of weeks. It's coming back because we love it because we miss it. It's coming back for. Hard news commercial reasons ultimately to an economic decision. It's going to come back and ghost game situation where it's fabulous. It's going to be different. The lack of an audience will have an impact on the football. We watched, but most importantly it is going to be good enough. It's GonNa. Be Great enough to connect us to a ruling global conversation and that's ultimately I think. Think we will miss about sports as our calling them. Ghost Games I hadn't heard that got left the Germans. They have a name for everything. Lay. They Call Them Guy Bela. And that is what they will be. Sam Darnold knows a thing or two about those back to English premier league, so we hit positive with most of the season done with exception of Liverpool they're. They're still to be decided. The top half of the table. Seven teams vying for five spots determine who will qualify for Champions League and Europa League which for those who don't know are the midseason European tournaments to be held next year. Roger Liverpool have clinched Champions League. Spot Manchester City has of course been banned from Champions League for Breaking Financial Fair play rules so that. That spot remains open despite city being second in the League. Right now. Arsenal wolves Chelsea Menu Lester Tottenham Sheffield all in the mix. What are you expecting to see from the top of the table? When the race for Champions League qualification, which is a bit like football's march madness, it's big tournament in which the best teams in the world. You're rail, Madrid, your boss Alana's. Para Sanjay Man's by Munich's compete all. Big English teams won't be in that for brand reasons for competitive reasons for commercial reasons and is. And completely wide open at the bottom of the table. All say English football has some Incorr- ellegation, which is if you watch game of thrones? It's a bit like the moon door. Teams get flung through that in baseball, the worst teams every year like the Orioles in the mall in which is flung out of the major leagues, the mooted, and in that place. We had the Tulsa drillers around rook. Rook Express and that is, it's a searing. It is a haunting. It is a savage palm of the global football tradition, and you have six teams at the bottom who are fighting to avoid what can be economically devastating their revenue roughly hauls flung out. The Premier League is savage for the fan base. One Minute. You are watching your team. Take to the glamorous fields, Manchester United and Arsenal the next. Round Brentford Luton Barnsley barring a miracle the Jewish using Norwich canaries will disappear, but there's five teams Aston. Villa Bouma th what furred and West Ham amongst them, two of which will go with them for the big story line. Meena is Liverpool Football Club. American owned little football. Club owned by the Boston Red SOx owners, F S J and their yearning. They're dreaming of a return to greatness that was once titletown by when I was a kid growing up in Liverpool. Just six points away from lending the title that they have dreamed of then. That is the great storyline of the season. On that note. This Sunday. The team that you root for I'm sorry. I'm getting a producer this side you support. Everton, we'll be squaring off against Liverpool. They are twenty five points clear off the other teams in the League, and there's possibility they can clinch the title at Goodison Park Against Your beloved Everton on Sunday

"It's December twelve and the oaks colliery exploded exploded on this day in eighteen. Sixty six. So we're in. Great Britain and the Industrial Revolution has well revolutionized industry. Coal is fuelling the boom home but to keep the machine of progress going. We've got to get that coal out of the ground so that brings us to the town of Barnsley. That's located in Yorkshire Northern England halfway between Sheffield and Leeds needs. That's where we find the oaks colliery now. A colliery is a term used to describe both a coal mine itself and the The agglomeration of buildings offices Mrs an infrastructure around the mine basically the whole complex now prior to the arrival of the Coal Industry Barnsley was known for its linen manufacturing but the land was rich and coal and industrialists were keen to exploit the lands. Riches the Barnsley Coal Seam ran deep below the surface of the ground it was particularly prized because it contained numerous types of coal well which all formed way back in the carbon efforts period. So we're talking about three hundred sixty three hundred million years ago now. Minor sank the first shaft at the Oaks Colliery in eighteen thirty and were able to extract hard coals which are used in train engines and steam ships as well as soft goals that were mixed with other minerals to make coke a fuel similar to charcoal charcoal. The three shafts at the colliery were nearly three hundred meters deep each but as the calorie experienced several explosions and disasters in the eighteen thirties for instance. Dozens of boys working in the mind drowned when it flooded. During a thunderstorm in the eighteen forties nearly one hundred miners died and several explosions and the hoax became regarded as one of the more dangerous places in the region to work by the eighteen. Fifties workers were fed up and hundreds of them went on strike for ten weeks. Claiming management was incompetent competent. But eventually the workers had to go back to work as they were at risk of starvation that brings us to the morning of December twelve eighteen sixty six. Hundreds of people showed up to work that day. Christmas was just around the corner so very few people skipped work and they were eager to make money upcoming holiday and in eighteen sixty six December. The twelve fell on a Wednesday and Wednesday's at the mine where the day workers could make up for past absenteeism. So with hundreds of people at work that day you had heures would cut the coal out of the ground and you had hurry irs. Who moved the coal to the shaft bottom to be lifted to the top? There were men to drive the horses in the shaft and young boys were called trappers. It was their job to open open ventilation doors to allow wagons to pass through but about one fifteen that day right near the end of the day shift a massive explosion tore through the mine. Jets a fire damp had invited now. That's the name given final gases which could have included methane at the time the noise could be heard three miles away and dust and soot traveled even farther other than that ventilation systems were damaged and fresh air wasn't piped into the mine shafts for several minutes within forty five minutes of the explosion rescuers were able to bring out nearly twenty only men who had been working near the surface they were all badly burned and only six survived later that evening. So many volunteers had shown up to help with the rescue effort. People had to be turned away away. Sadly all the other workers deeper under the earth were killed would be rescuers found the bodies of fathers and sons locked in a final embrace and of course cart-drivers drape dead over their ponies. They had all died of suffocation breathing. The carbon dioxide of the mine rescue work continued throughout the night with a search for survivors. Evers ending up a search for bodies the next morning many rescuers evacuated for fear of another explosion. One Man Matthew Haig who worked the night deputy at the colliery had survived. It is an explosion there. Two decades prior and recognize the warning signs by nine. AM The pit exploded again though. Nearly thirty men were still below. A third explosion followed later that evening thing and on day three rescuers found a man named Samuel Brown. Still Alive Brown wasn't one of the original workers though he was irregular who had gone down the day before he he was removed from the pit and he was the last man found alive the next several days saw fourteen more minor explosions and the decision was made to abandon rescue efforts and to fill the pits all in all. The tally was estimated at over three hundred sixty people dead. It was the worst mining disaster in the world at the time and remains the worst in an English coalfield history. An official inquest into the explosion was opened almost immediately. The cause was never identified. The disaster helped spur some reforms and safety regulation elation the mining remain dangerous for years new research conducted in two thousand sixteen by volunteers with the dern valley landscape partnership puts the final tally of deaths at three hundred and eighty three free among the dead. Were Boys as young as ten years old. Today in the region monuments exists to both those who were killed and volunteer rescuers who lost their lives. How to Measure the ROI of AI with Sankar Narayanan of Fractal Analytics

"I wanted to to start off here. In terms of the theme of getting a return on investment from artificial intelligence is thinking about what business leaders should be doing up front you know before they dive into a project before they deploy resources as they're deciding what to do and how to approach a project what what should they be considering to to make sure that this has the best chance of aurelie in their business. Thank you for inviting me into russian and as the getting to hunting probably the questions that exist. Tell me about it on a don't exit investment so let me let me take a step back and sort of you know for the the problem a little bit <hes> right so so this is a question that ought klein's oscars all right because most of these decision makers are constantly grappling with what what items attribution. How do i ensure that every investment dollar that i put into artificial intelligence antigens realizes that that dollar rally back in multiples for the has that's a hard question heart. It is it is it is not easy. It and i'm going to stretch and see that in many cases is actually not even that important. I totally agree but i'd love love your opinion on this. This is great short and why why a that becomes an embarking undestanding is he's been nice talking. Look at all the problems that businesses are attacking most <unk> knowledge around what artificial intelligence can do to the business <hes> stems from a number growth really <unk> <hes> marketed examples that we've that you've heard and seen over the last three or four years and most of them actually <hes> have been in areas which all defined for example the best chess player being beaten artificial into the cool player being beaten by. I hit a interesting <hes> question right. These are all problems that have a definitive and bond in in chess. It's the the definite endpoint is to checkmate the king on the opposite side <hes> whether you're playing white or black and go again that is a definite of end point in mind most problem statements in fortune five hundred fortune. Five hundred companies do not have a definitive outcome right. This is a this is an important walk. In distinction affirmative statements that fortune hundred c._e._o.'s dealing with is if it is a consumer goods company as an example is the next product that i'm going to launch going to succeed. It has no end to it. What does success mean. <hes> is a question that has no into it similarly to taken in shorter her. How can i deduce why claims expensive issue are my combined ratio if you dig customer expedients as an example in multiple industries how how do i improve customer expedience for for my bank far for lane shot at him so on most of these owners can see are extremely hazy they he had really complex the outcome of you know can be defined in multiple different ways and therefore how do you hard your actually quantify quantify the propellant investment on something where the outcome itself is hazy. That's the real question right so as we as we we are. I think to this the first and foremost objectives that we set out for ourselves as <unk> appliances. Do we really understand the business problems if you're looking to solve and do we have a <unk> framed business problem. That's right and no matter what we do how sophisticated the <unk> are going to be the key question that we come back to. His happy framed the business question draining. Oh yes until if you don't mind shrunk our could. We poke into that a little bit. If i could just ask a few questions about this yeah so i i will and i love if you could correct any of my thought here but i think you're you're pointing to something that business leaders absolutely have to understand and hopefully those of you who listen to the eye and industry podcast for months now will have kind of had. This idea sunk into your head a few times. We are not talking about a board game here and indeed we are talking about open ended business problems in addition to tap. We're we're often talking about. Use cases where machine learning has not been used right so if we wanna talk about let's say detecting payment fraud. You know we we might in some circumstances dances be able to define a certain ratio of false positives and false negatives that could define success right at that might be possible if we wanna talk about you know improving customer lifetime evalu- for a wealth management client over the course of twenty years. How the heck do we get proxies for that. Not only is it vegas hack as you're saying in terms of the gray area of of our definition but it's also something where is just not really been used and so a lot of these initial projects are often kind of guinea pig like and so it sounds like what you're saying is if if we want to begin in this admittedly gray world of a._i. And gray world of business goals we have to find a way to i lock in and frame precisely what is it the problem is does that involve quantifying. The result statement in some way shape performed or is that more just the problem at high level. Maybe you could go a bit deeper. Char short the multiple ways in which the companies have done this so i'm going to share with you. <hes> how we think about what he called us a what because the key problem solving fourteen hundred companies on north thinking vowed solving one of problems they are thinking about solving problems at scale that can can have impact notches for functional area but for the business on the whole and most to barnsley be sustainable so if you think about all of these ski what's which is developing business back at scale and that can be sustainable than a is just one part of the buzzer so as i was saying earlier the fullest key point here is is to frame and reframe the business problem so we have a deep understanding across the board on what is it that we are looking to solve it is it. Is it a problem of growth. Is it a problem of inefficiency. Is it a problem of better expedients for our consumer us. What is it that looking to salt and and along the definition is also about identifying what the what did we define as metrics success. What does success look like can visualize success gaining customer's expedients problem. What is it today and how do we define success success. At what is what could be if everything goes according to plan. That's the that's the next big as defending metrics of success and on once we've we've done that. They're they're sort of three parts in our minds that that come together for enabling talk at scale number one is this is about identifying those business eighty as our eighty five efficiency as i was saying on your number two is what are the engineering elements that need to be in place or that need to fall in place for your initiatives to be successful. This could be everything anything from do. We have the right right. Data in place is data of reasonably high quality such that decisions that are made on that data out of high quality. Is there sufficient soon data governance in place so if something needs to be done in a sustainable manner do we do. We know that this data is going to be a reasonable out. As the it over to peter i'll start on the dependencies on devops on on third party data sources and things like that and finally how's the execution going to look like right. This becomes a recall this defined by of decision. Every decision has to impact a human at the end of the day. It's a human acting on the decision autism a decision acting on human right so every every decision that the enterprise sticking at any point in dine is going to be executed by a human and is going to impact the human so do we really understand what are those would needs that need to be solved for those three elements of better gopnik sophistication better engineering and better human behavior understanding news to come together to be done at scale and that's what fourteen hundred years thinking about day in day out yeah. We'll in a lot the mar- thinking at this level of granularity or phases when it comes to a._i. Projects but in terms of handling complex projects obviously any fortune five hundred board room is is going to be <music> familiar with guests distilling ambiguity into something more succinct. I appreciate you boiling down the data elements the elements of the phases to think through couple quick points. I'm i'm gonna. I'm gonna bring them up. In order with you on the first point that i just want to run by you. Here is about the fact that sort of machine learning is probably stick in the first first place so even if we think we have great data we have good governance. We're not gonna have any access problems are or we can get rid of those access problems. It may be the case that the the data that we have even though it's a lot even though we're smart just isn't going to get the job done for recommending products or isn't going to get the job done for handling some kind of shipping and logistics issue or isn't going to get the job done for there is always the possibility that we need to buffer for that. There's a lot of tinkering. There's a lot of tweaking in we can't necessarily sara lee say this bucket of data given the right algorithm is definitely going to deliver value. That's a bit of a culture shift in kind of a culture shock. I think for for many people in in the enterprise world where with software we write the rules and then it does what we want. Is that culture shift something. We have to address with business leaders. Does that have to be understood stood before we start talking about r y expectations i. I don't mean to be a pessimist by the way but i just wanna get your thoughts on that. That's actually a really industrial line. Dan and i was going to talk about this during the course of the concision sort of those sorts of people that that i encounter across devices one onset of believers which is a set of people that would free every problem into any problem. There's nothing with it is one way of thinking and then there's the other other group of people that have encountered who are <unk> pessimists if you will and that's not because they don't understand the value it's because the i've seen too many <hes> problems being famed into problems and therefore there is some amount of fatigue in using disadvantage problem right so these are do such people that <unk> donde and there is a broad middle which is which will move around depending on where the funding sources are encountered this these set of you know the truly game changing functions and organizations that are working with our we have with how one thing don right which which is a belief in experimentation. I'll say this again the truly game changing companies and functions we worked with

"I went up to Barnsley Gardens this week man. I love that place <hes> with everything the vice president come in this weekend. I'm going to be on stage two days in a row for about eight and a half hour talking to people <hes> new big stuff come in as well you will soon hear about <hes> here at W._S._b.. A It's just it's it's start distress me out so I took several days when they're by myself. Hit Golf balls relaxed. He was wonderful <hes> now we need to move on and to get there. I want to go to Eric in Clayton County Eric. You're going to be a first tonight. Welcome thank you <hes> my question is that when I hear people talk about meddling at the Russian medal and I don't understand what they mean that far attorney is like okay they say facebook and all that but and no voting machines connected to the Internet and I'm asking George got new voting machines but nothing is connected in the heck so I mean I don't know what people realize that before the Internet the Russian used the newspapers and radio and you just have to know that but this was right so I don't understand now it's meddling what they mean. When they say the rushing misery era that's disagree point before before the Internet the Russians did this as well <hes>? I mean heck half a Hollywood. What was was members of the Communist Party? That was whole thing they got. McCarthy started even if he went too far <hes> you know McCarthy it wasn't you may have been a bad guy but it wasn't necessarily wrong about a lot of stuff <hes> at least to begin with it's funny to watch <hes> the the former communists <hes> tar in feather McCarthy who actually wasn't wrong about everything some stuff he was but not everything the reason you gotta remember the reason they continued hang onto the Russian. Meddling is because Hillary Clinton lost and they can't admit they nominated a bad candidate. It's got to be something else so it's got to be that. The Russians stole the election. Well we know from the F._B._I.. We know from the Senate Intelligence Committee Review We know from Bob Muller and the like that trump's campaign was not involved with it. They may have reached out to some people. Some of the folks close to the president may have reached out to Russian but they didn't get cooperation. They didn't didn't cooperate themselves and the Russians didn't steal the election. It is a lie to say the Russians stole the election. It is ally to say the Russians stole the election would facebook did or what the Russia's is they got on facebook in in other places and and they produced memes and e false information about the election people forget they were doing it about Hillary Clinton Donald Trump both he was only towards the end. They decided that they really could benefit by messing up Hillary Clinton's world. I don't the Russians even knew that Donald trump could win but I mean we're talking a few people on social media persuaded by Russian means. This is all mythology from the left because they can't admit Hillary Clinton was a terrible candidate if they could admit we could have somewhere honesty in the conversation but they're really the Russians did not steal the election. They did not take the election. <hes> the left will want to have a footnote next donald trump what they should is they. We have a footnote next Donald Trump that says donald trump's opponent lost because she did not go to Michigan Wisconsin in Pennsylvania that is how she lost now Dave in Atlanta. Let's go to you next. Welcome to the program and I'm in agreement with you on that. <hes> there was a commentary on this <hes>.

"You i we will get into the national news of the day including andy no in tacking portland 'em but that there's been a lot of that today over national news media wanna focus on some georgia news that isn't getting attention a the these other big stories are getting elsewhere the biggest i think is the speaker of the house i had a closed door meeting with republicans up at my favorite place in georgia this weekend barnsley guards i love barnsley gardens if you haven't been largely guard you should go to the merge the gardens i need to go towards the gardens my soul needs to be refreshed and it happens they're they're they closed door meeting at barnsley no this isn't an ad 'em it's just i need to go there i love that place so they had it was their caucus meeting end in the speaker is asked about or or the issue comes up of the speaker and the company attacks from the democrats owned the speaker of the house end the speaker is super defiant he says those who are calling for his ouster bad decisions have bad consequences in then he says this if there's a snake in your house kill it in other words david rolston is unrepentant doesn't think he did anything wrong an wants to ruined those who have called for him to leave now this is actually having a behind the scenes z opposite effect because they're several people who have been very defiant on behalf of the speaker of the house who are now coming forward and behind the scenes still not yet public although i think will soon be public saying oh my gosh we gotta get this guy out of here he's nuts a it's striking that this league so quickly tuesday atlanta journal constitution the speaker thought this was going to be behind closed doors and people would not learned of this an members of his own caucus leaked to the press end people are really upset about it i let me paint you a broader picture there there have been ten members of the house of representatives of republicans who said that david rolston needs to go and now the speaker associated there's a snake in your house kill it bad decisions have bad consequences in other words he wants to kill those who are opposed him metaphorically speaking wants to destroy their political careers years according to the speaker on multiple people who were in the room where confirming these quotes from the speaker he wants to destroy those who want him removed a speaker you'll is i i'm i've been convinced for a while now but i think this affirms the david ralston is mental midget demand is not very bright politically he has stayed in his position through thuggery in fear a because he's not very smart politically let let me paint a broader picture for for you here the republicans in the state house representatives heavy fifteen seat majority ten of those members have come forward to say the speaker needs to go if five more of those members come forward and say the speaker needs to go suddenly a majority of the house representatives no longer wants the speaker there or do they if you had fifteen members members of the georgia house representatives republicans viewed fifteen members say you know what we're no longer participating with the republicans were disgusted by david ralston will come back when he leaves until then were going suddenly the republicans and the democrats are at parody in the house representatives for leadership in the democrats can call a vote in this actually's politically smart because it helps the republicans do you really think the democrats dinner going to maintain david rolston his position because we know they wanna used issue in twenty twenty we know the democrats in georgia want to use david rolston as an issue we know these ads were coming about the republican standing behind david ralston so you've got ten of them already calling for us and leave the democrats the republicans you had five more to it and they all come out and say you know what we're not gonna participate with the caucus until david ralston leaves then suddenly the democrats the ball's in their court andy either affirmed david ralston an destroy their chances politically of using him as an issue in twenty twenty or they reject david rolston as well that becomes a big issue but what is david rolston promising behind the scenes to save his fifteen seat majority it actually makes no sense no i i need the preface this i i need this by saying i'm a huge fan of the vice president's united states mike this i i'm a huge fan of mike pence's i adore the man i have known him for years i have a russell kirk the conservative mind book it sits on my desk it is from mike pence is signed by him it was a gift to me when i first got started in conservative politics what a good washington i go with the white house i have lunch with vice president taking my set up there and a couple of weeks were having lunch they were we have invited him to speak at the resurgent gathering in august i can't tell you whether or not he's confirmed but we've invited him i like mike pence i'm a huge fan of mike pence the speaker of the house has floated having mike pence come down to do a fundraiser for the fifteen republicans being targeted by the democrats fifteen republicans being targeted by the democrats so the speaker wants to bring the vice president of the united states in two georgia to do a fundraiser to help the fifteen republicans who were being targeted by the democrats the reason those fifteen republicans are in a difficult position is because the president is donald trump as much as i like mike pence these fifteen republicans are in danger of losing their seats in costing the republicans the state house majority because these fifteen republicans living seats or living districts where the majority of the people no longer like trump and pence so we're gonna bring the guy associated with the administration that the majority of voters in these fifty districts don't like to fund raised to help keep these people in the state house that's really not smart politically no if you bring in mike pence and you do a huge fundraiser for all the republicans that's one thing that's great but they cashed it as this is how we're gonna help keep these fifteen people in office a you know this stuff is gonna leak you gotta know this stuff is gonna leak if you don't you're you're bigger any thought you were already thought you were a big idiot so what do you think the democrats are gonna do mijo this this is not break stuff that this is not bright by the speaker of the house now he she saying i want he wants to kill these these ten members of the republican conference you want him gone a speaker i have a question for the republican members of the state legislature are are you so tied to the speaker of the house they were willing to lose your majority to the democrats argue so tied to the speaker of the house that you're actually willing to lose you're majority because fifteen of you're colleagues bolt from the conference because they're disgusted by the speakers remarks but you just can't step back for just a minute who says this i mean who actually says this is like something from a badly scripted movie where the the speaker of the house are due to a class of zell miller said it sneaks in your house you kill the snakes we're gonna we're gonna kill these stolen guns who are get me i mean this is just he's like foghorn leghorn is speaker of the house i mean what what a mental midget this guy is to to be up there saying stuff like this that he's gonna punish the ten members of the house who are saying stay in this guy these go by the way why why are these people calling for him to leave i think it's important for those of you who are new to this you haven't been paying attention why are people calling for david ralston to leave well they're colin for david rolston to leave because david rolston has used his position as speaker to keep criminal cases from going to trial for years end in fact it became very well known but the speaker of the house was using it abusing his position to keep cases from going to trial for years there are people who were quoted a one person at least in aj she was quoted saying he knew if he paid david rolston money david ralston we keep his case from ever going to trial i mean this is not new stuff this is been out there for a while an you've got people who are willing to participate in that kim kim kun you wait for the ad campaign of the twenty one year old who when she was fourteen was raped by pastor allegedly the pastor hires david rolston the guerrillas twentyone now she can't get any closure because of david rolston water the ad campaigns gonna be you know you you you may be as republican as the day is long you may hold your nose and vote for every republican that comes out because you hate the democrat so much but now ask yourself those squishy voters in these fifteen districts who hate the president's already don't much care for the social conservative bit of the republicans right now and they're just itching to find a way to protest what do you think they're going to do what do you think they're going to do with the trump administration comes down to try to salvage the republican majority the david ralston can't salvage 'cause nobody likes see what do you think they're gonna do when he adds start playing of the teenage rape victims whose cases are still pending who's who's assailants they're still out there because they went to david ralston and he's kept him out of jail what do you think these people are gonna do an david ross those responses to kill the descendants of the dissidents kill the dissidents kill the people who oppose and that that's david ralston stated response if there's a snake in are house kill it on what to do with the people who warning gone do you really think that in these fifteen districts these fifteen districts do you really think they're gonna vote republican do you really think they're gonna keep the republican majority win all that starts happening to you really believe that if you do i've got a great bridge to so you in brooklyn you "If you're Cleveland fan of your emotional distraught in two thousand ten like, it's kind of kind of make sense. It should matter. Like, oh, great LeBron's leaving prime to go to Miami. I'm sad. Those are a really easy roadmap to go down. Right. The burning of jersey and all that stuff stupid. And now guys are just doing it to Cerruti to have like video, right? Like going all cool. I'm gonna burn my in Tonio browner's before anybody else. I'm gonna get a bunch of re tweets, what's where's the win there? What's the value? Do you meet girls like a year later and go? Yeah. I was the jersey in the the home furnace. Yeah. That was me. I actually have issue with that back guy because he's he has a problem. I have more of an issue is like why are we even still sharing slash caring about them? And all these major social media sites. Like, why do we even give it any attention? Yeah. Right. Because then the places like we are guilty of it or anybody like people pick it up and act like up look at Pittsburgh fans. And you're like is that really all Pittsburgh fans about until Brown. Like is it or is it just due to burn a jersey, and that's become this thing. So anyway, back to the initial point is that to me it was very clear LeBron was upset about Harrison Barnes being traded game. Even though he didn't realize that Barnes will Cain pointed out on his show when I came on that part's was told like, hey, you might be trade. And in Barnsley, whatever I just wanna go ahead and play LeBron for the pro LeBrun people out there were like that's not the point at all. And like like, it's kind of both of those things, and I happened to tweet more about the one. Okay. I try not to get upset about any players that one out. But I think there have been more and more instances of this Justice general unhappiness of players that is overwhelming and entering a tipping point for the NBA. But before I do that I want LeBron be owner because then I wanna see how he handles traits because you know, how he's going to handle them no differently than they're handled..

"Most harshly when she's nervous. Like getting close to a busy street but she still does it when she's excited even. If she's just excited to train in our. -partment so how can I teach her, to take, food gently that's a great question yeah I think first of all. You have to start with low value food because that's. Mistake people make is. They using the really tasty stuff so the dog is? So motivated to go get, that food I can't wait for it so you start with low of valley green beans I don't, know. Whatever, the dog, FIS I, mean you could you could have a. Dog biscuit the dog thinks is the best thing ever another dog, is right you know so. What is your dog I mean find out. What your dog loves and then what your dog is it's okay I mean I like that so normally. Is a dry dog biscuit k- that's kind of lower value food so I would start Kashmir she loves them Well and that's what I do? And I have this. Thing, where I hold it in, my in my fingers like that if you can't if you. Come to you know watching what I'm doing right. Now because we are recording these victorious but I sort of. Hold them between my thumb. And my fingers treat and hold it towards the? Dog's nose and I tell him gentle. Gentle now, if the. Dog goes for my hand what. I'll do is all kind of turn my handover and take my, hand away. So freaks up so I'll? Sort of, rotate my hand like that and take it away okay because that. Action protects. It protects, my has makes it hard for the dog to engage okay so so if they snap at. It boom my hand goes. Like that okay And then and then I put it. To, the nose again and then I say, gentle, and its way my voices. Okay Is really important you gotta. Gentle Gentle and that, seems, to. Really make them go oh okay and then. They're a little bit less Malvy, and then when they, all good they get the. Treatment they they learn what gentlemen's they learned that if they snap too, much in the food goes away and then they. Learned that they get the. Food if, the gentle it. Works I mean look some dogs it can. Take five minutes to teach them some dogs need a little bit boring reinforcement. Pretty fast and The really low. Value, biscuits. And then when. The dogs really good with the low. Value biscuits knows what gentle and. Everything else, means then you move up to a high, that you stuff gradually increase it maybe you're, gonna, use. Some beef jerky now maybe then you're gonna. Use some chicken some cheese or, whatever the dog and, then go for the stake whatever it is Doug loves most but there's always to be gentle mouth, that's how I do it kind of it's relatively easy actually oh good it's. Funny cide, no caveat my. Dog Barnsley resource guard so he sounds like. A nice I mean he's scary when he's around his. Food He he is scary he makes, me jump oh yeah and he suddenly goes. Yeah but you know we're so desensitized to it so but when you give him a treat he will. Not take it your hand he'll open his mouth like I almost like. An orca and you place it in his mouth and then he closes it and, goes away he's the most gentle when it comes to I mean, it's funny because you know some, of our friends they can I give. Them a treat them like. Yeah sure and so she's like. Take, it. Take it I'm. Like no you gotta put it in. Their mouth is open he just. Wants you, to drop it in which is crazy Okay Let's. Do let's. See Hello. Victoria this is from Elizabeth in. Florida Would it be harmful to my four, month old puppy if I traveled, abroad for five weeks in July when she'll be eight months old I booked the trip to attend my great nieces baptism in Brazil before she came into my. Life now I'm worried about leaving her so. Soon for so long she's been with me for. Only a week she's an. Italian greyhound and, they have sensitive feelings thank you for your advice first of. "Want a frozen pizza Or do you want let's see we've got some, to Tinos here like that's just what we would do for animals definitely it's, better, than better than I do I don't really, cook like, that and you. Should see me on Sundays it's, like someone's like or you having company. I'm like Nope just making her meals for the you see that's the that's the dedication meat is love our our animals and that's what, we'll do for them now it's interesting because what you you told me that a couple of weeks ago that you, noticed some kind of different behavior in Barnsley. And that's what I want. To talk a little bit about now about how you, could maybe recognize signs of pain and you'll. Dog that will happen with Barnsley so tobacco, a little bit when this first happened with Kashmir a few years ago I didn't really know what was. Going on I just knew something was wrong with her and I tried to bring her in and she wouldn't come in the house. And it was raining out she was sitting under the tree and she wouldn't come in and she was up on a hill and she was panting. A lot and she was like scrunching her face every once in a while she would shiver and then she would breathe. Heavy and pant than she would shiver and I. Went online to look because I didn't. Know my husband was out of town and that's a sign of pain, so that's. When I took her to the, vet so then I was aware of it so. A. Couple of weeks ago on Sunday night Study. After noon Barnes who was acting weird it, was the, Sunday before the. Eclipse and we were laughing thinking, well maybe it's the eclipse maybe defects. Animals how storms they can tell something's happening who knows but he came inside he wouldn't come up the stairs and then he was acting, kind of weird and he was limping a little bit but he's very klutzy and sometimes he just limps a little, and he's just he's he's an odd dog. As we know but we. Love him and we brought them up the stairs and, Shawn said something's not right with him and. He's doing that shivering thing like Kashmir did, and I said Nope that's pain and it was about eight o'clock at night so we finally said that's. It we're taking him to the vet we took him up there and they looked at him 'cause we'd been afraid maybe he busted. A knee or something you know you can tear need just like a human can and the vet said looks like he's almost eleven or he's eleven. Now arthritis is setting in looks like in the back hips and the knees so they put him on anti inflammatories and. Now we have an appointment with our vet and. A few weeks to see what's going. To make sure that's what it is but yeah It was the. Shivering and I would, not have. Known that if not for Kashmir. But that is a big sign it's the panting it's the grimacing drooling and. Then that shivering intermittent shivering is what. That pain, sign was well yeah there is quite a lot. Of ways that you, can figure out if your dog is in. Pain, and sometimes they're hard sometimes the the changes in behavior or you doctor. So good at covering that pain and. Showing that pain sometimes they're hanging on for a long time before you even notice it well and that's the would you mentioned behavior. That's right Before. The shivering started, earlier in the day he was acting weird and he sometimes? We'll go up and lay in my, closet he likes dark space especially when, the storms coming or something but he got in, the shower I just taken a. Shower and he went in the. Shower, and he. Hates the, shower, and he wouldn't. Come out like what are you doing, standing there so he was. Exhibiting, IB he, was just standing, there panting looking at me and to get. Him out I turn the shower on I got him out of the shower and then he was just being really weird so that was. Did you say there was a storm happening at that time knows the next day was, the eclipse but sometimes when there's. A storm coming he'll go into the. Closet or he'll do something but it was a beautiful day you..

"Yeah and we have barnsley or coon hound or blackened ten coon hound who has a bit of issues he's got he's very anxious and he's got some trigger issues we manage because you mentioned managing one of the things though and i'm pretty good about okay make sure you know watching him constantly and i'm always trying to get him i'm situations i know could be a problem but you said something and i was really shocked i'd never heard this before when people come in and make sure the introduction is like oh look it's my friend and he feels comfortable and as soon as he comes in there's many people who will lean on you and he leaned on you and he knows you and he leans on me and he leans on shannon like oh i always medically thought that was a protection thing but it was more of like i like you like a hug dogs can hug right when i come in kashmir will put her head to my through my legs and wag the tail and you said oh she's hugging you're she's trying to get close to you but this is something different and when you told me that i was a little shocked never heard of this behavior yeah leaning can be dogs can lean against you like some my sadie especially in large dogs like to lean right and it's kind of it's leaning next to the secure attachment it's leaning up to somebody that they love the makes them feel safe and jasmine actually because she's a little dog she doesn't lean but she'll sit on my foot so she needs to be close to me she'll come and sit right next to me and she will put her bottom on my foot that's just the way she is that's her version of leaning so dogs can lean it depends in a different environment soil situations but with with and i'm sure that with bones louis he leans against you and that is his lean that's his lean and it says his sort of safety thing with me it was different it wasn't it was controlling my behavior it was controlling where i was going and some people call it the dominance lean i don't like that that i don't like that phrase because it implies that the fact that dog is trying to dominate me no no no he's not trying to dominate me but he is trying to control my behavior because he feels a little bit insecure about me coming in and you know you have to watch them with other people does he do that with other people does he leaned against other people yes have you seen him do this yeah oh yeah and in cases where you gotta like barnsley who is a little bit insecure and not that social central to a point but not that social he that that set is coping mechanism and in many dogs that's the way that cope so i would definitely be very careful of moncey especially around kids and i mean you know that that anyway anyway with your nephew that comes in things really important because i think the older he gets and he has hip issues and so little bit of pain there i think the moody he get and he has obviously his gardening issues as well so that i have seen him kind of a little bit growly towards somebody and definitely yes you need to you need to watch him interesting yeah i'd never see i never knew that about the leaning dav i thought that was a sweet thing but it's good to know because when i told some people are like what i don't think people knew that that was the behavior are i think we have time for one more quick question okay this is from bethany wagner from she's in ouaga indiana much from where i am from she says i have a coworker who saved a dog from an abusive family the poor dear was lit on fire and beaten while on a chain boy she's a german shepherd collie mix and i was asked if i'd be willing to take her in because she's now having problems with going to the potty outside in isn't responding well to giving treats and encouragement so my co workers losing hope and wanting to find a new owner that has the time to retrain her because i can't take her into my home due to the fact that i five you're young children i thought i would ask if there's anything my co worker can do.
