"Come. Don't keep this insert a question right after that every day. We say he indeed throwing. Monday morning mulligan. How's that work. You get one. But look i'll concerned. Are you with the saints in the quarterback situation with drew brees and the ribs and jameis winston kind of sitting there waiting for that opportunity. Well i'll tell you what this is. We talked about this off season. This is an investment for james wants. And he's only twenty six years old. This is not the tampa bay offense that he had for a number of years. All do guys is play point guard. Emmanuel sanders michael. Thomas alvin kamara. Just get the ball. Out of your hands and distribute it to a lot of good play makers and we go back to that contract. He sign everyone. Chris is a he left too much money. On the table he could be third. String behind hill. I think it's an investment if he plays well again only twenty six years old and thinking about all these teams. That will need quarterbacks in the future. this is an unbelievable opportunity. James winston. I think what else is really interesting. Sometimes coaches say one thing and do another. We've always heard that. Sean payne really believes in tasteful hill. I think he actually believes in james. Winston winston was the guy that went in for breeze. So i think there's going to be fascinating to watch and to me. I think the saints have a real chance winston because he's talented and this team has so many weapons that i think this is going to. Winston does well mike. I put you on the spot. Tell me right now. Who are the two best teams in the nfc. Boy that's a great question. It's green bay and a big question. Mark j will in a one game series. If we were here. Eight days ago. I would've said tampa for sure but i think after what new orleans did to them. We have to eliminate them. It's a great question. The second best team. They all have question marks. I guess we have to go with the saints. Assuming that breeze will be there in the end but again you know as curious rock and when we were together coach parcells used to have a great line when bill parcells the gm and the head coach used to say to players. Hey i don't want to find out that you retired and announced it three years later. This is a contract to play. This is not a retirement policy. And what i watched. Drew brees play. I'm that he got hurt. And that's not great but when you get older and you're thinking about retirement this is the wrong sport for you and it's gonna be interesting to see to see missile week dismas three weeks and again dirt. A good situation with jameis winston. But i don't think they're in the top two without drew brees. Hey mike got ask you this. Because i know the packers are seven into and i know key always says you have to win the game in front of you. That's all you can do. But they're winds are against the vikings even though they're playing better now lien's they did. Beat the saints. The falcons were depleted. They were playing horrible. The texans horrible. The forty niners depleted. And then the jaques j. will it's a great point and let's go back to yesterday james robinson over one hundred yards and coming into the game with cheek gluten being the quarterback mike pen the packer defense coordinator knows we gotta stop robinson. Any still ran for over one hundred yards so even though the may be the best team in a one game series. They still have flaws as you said. It showed up against minnesota specifically this year in a championship game against the forty nine a year ago. And they haven't fixed that problem and we all know the worst thing is when you have a weakness and you can't fix it. Your opponents exploited. Mike tannenbaum joining us. Here all guest joins us on the shell pennzoil performance line of when you look at the giants and these guys laughed at me for saying this mike i had the giants back in it and challenging philadelphia for division. They won that game yesterday. Where do you see this division headed. The it's really interesting. He the headline coming out of the early game yesterday was coming into yesterday. The giants were twenty six in the nfl. In opponents third down conversion yesterday philadelphia did not convert one. Third down to me. That's a great silence. Coaching and joe judge fixing a problem. We just talk about the packers and there run. Defense is getting better. Look at the giants their third down defense much better so there in the thick of the state and i give them as good chances anybody. Because they're improving. Daniel jones doesn't turn the ball over. They really have a chance and remember. They're doing this without their best player. Saquon barkley mike. Do you think that the patriots after that crazy win last night in a rain storm. Do you think the patriots of now cynth- another message to the afc east that they're not going away yet. I that number week. let's go back and look seattle. They lost by one yard literally. One yard camden fourth and goal against buffalo there. Infielder racer at the twelve yard line. They're either going to tie or win it in buffalo so they've already beaten miami. We know miami's going to be there till the end and this thing is far from over look. Buffalo is the best team. They had a crazy loss as we talked about. But i think what new england's done is they found an identity and it's damian harris very talented running back from alabama. It gives them a pathway to win games consistently and this thing is far from over and we also have to remember guys this year. Seventeen makes the playoffs and every afc coach whether or not they'll admit or not they're going to stay inside. Their building is the one team and coach. They don't wanna see. You know one game series bill bell check in the new england patriots. Mike what do you feel about lamar right now. She would be concerned about not only his play on the field but it's thought process because after post games he's kind of been saying some stuff whether it's they're calling out the defense i mean they're calling our office of plays or you know. The rain affected the way we played yesterday. I mean what are we thinking now with him. I think he's just a young man. That's still growing up. He's the league. Mvp allies we're going to be on him. We knew that this was going to be an important year career. And he's a great kid. Football's really important to him. I think he's gonna get better and better. And i think like what we saw last night. He's see a lot more zone coverage and the reason for that is the opposing team's defensive. Quarter wants eleven sets of is the mar jackson. Because if you play man-to-man and you're on defense and you turn your back to him. He could be gone. And i think that's going to be a big growing pan for seeing some frustration but baltimore's in there. They've got a great defense. This is team. That's really hard to defend offensively. And he's young and he'll continue to get better. But i would not count them out by any stretch mike every now and then you might want to hold onto your wide receivers in getting them on the way out. Come in here. How he's coming in today on this this week may receivers worth that money to number. One picks are pretty valuable as well. Though zinger on the way back we should mention baltimore still finding that offensive identity trying to figure out who they are next up for them a team. That's in the very same boats till trying to figure out who they are and what their offensive identity is after hitting a rough patch of their own..

"Yes, it is my office. Come on, Mike. You got a response. I don't want to keep this. Insert a question right after that every now and did I didn't say anything I just said every now and then. Yeah, right. So I get up Monday morning. Mulligan. I mean, how does that work? No, you get you get one. But look at me. I should is. How concerned are you with the Saints in the quarterback situation with Drew Brees and the ribs and Jamis Winston kinda sitting there waiting for that opportunity. I'll tell you what this is. We talked about this in the off season. This is an investment for Jameis Winston. He's only 26 years old. This is not the Tampa Bay offense that he had for a number of years. All you have to do guys is played. Point guard Emmanuel Sanders, Michael Thomas album Camaro. Just get the volume out of your hands and distributed to a lot of good playmakers. If we go back to that contract, he signed, everyone criticized and he left too much money on the table. He could be third string behind teams from Hill. I think it's an investment if he plays well again, only 26 years old and think about all these teams that will be quarterbacks in the future. This is an unbelievable opportunity for Jameis Winston. I think what else is really interesting? Like sometimes coaches say one thing and do another. We've always heard that champagne really believes in Taysom Hill. I think he actually believes in Jamis Winston because Winston was the guy that went in for a brief, so I think there's gonna be fascinating to watch and to me. I think the Saints have a real chance. What Winston because he's talented, and this team has so many weapons that I think this is going to suit what Winston does. Well, Mike, I gotta put you on the spot. Tell me right now, who are the two best teams in the NFC? Well, that's a great question. It's Green Bay and then a big question. Mark J. Will you know in a one game Syria's if we were here eight days ago, I was a Tampa for sure. But I think after winning worlds did to them. We have to eliminate him. It's a great question. The second best team, they all have question marks. I guess we have to go with the Saints, assuming that breeze will be there in the end, but again, you know a security reference when we were together. Coach Parcells used to have a great line when Bill Parcells, the GM and the head coach used to say to players Hey, I don't want to find out that you retired and announced it three years later. This is a contract to play. This is not a retirement policy. When I watch Drew Brees play like I'm sorry that he got hurt, and that's not great, But when you get older, and you're thinking about retirement, this is the wrong sport for you. But their wins are against the Vikings, even though they're playing better now. Lions. He did beat the Saints Falcons were depleted. They were playing horrible Texans horrible. The 40 Niners depleted and then the jacks. Okay, well, it's a great point. And let's go back to yesterday, James Robinson over 100 jars and coming into the game with Jake Lewton being the quarterback might pen, the Packer defensive coordinator knows we gotta stop Robinson and he still ran for over 100 yards. So even though they may be the best team in a one game, Syria's they still have flaws as you said it showed up against Minnesota specifically this year. The championship game against the foreign eyes a year ago, and they haven't fixed that problem, and we all know the worst thing is when you have a weakness, and you can't fix it. Your opponent's gonna exploit it. Mike Tanen bomb Joining us here All guest joins us on the shell pins off performance line. When you look at the Giants and these guys laughed at me for saying this. You know, the headline coming out. The early Games yesterday was coming into yesterday. The Giants were 26 in the NFL in opponents third down conversion Yesterday, Philadelphia did not convert one third down to me. That's a great sign of coaching, and Joe Judge fixing a problem. Just talk about the Packers and their run defense out getting better Look at the Giants their third down defense much better. So there in the thick of this thing, and I give them as good a chance as anybody because They're improving at Daniel Jones doesn't turn the ball over. They really have a chance. And remember, they're doing this without their best players safe on Barkley. Mike. Do you think that the Patriots after that? Crazy wind last night in a rain storm. Do you think the Patriots have now sent another message to the NFC East that they're not going away? Jackie. I said that for a number of weeks, Let's go back and look Seattle they lost by one yard literally one yard can dune fourth and goal against Buffalo, their infield. Laurie start the 12 yard line. "Michael Wilbon back here with us. Chicago native always good to have you. Sir Stephen a did you wanna get into something. I I was going to start with Scottie Pippen. Yeah go for it. I wanted to start. I know we gotta go to Scotty Pippin but I wanted to start off with Charles Barkley because obviously we all love Charles. Barkley Mike will bond. I know how close you to are. He tried to basically imply that. Michael Jordan with the Steve Kerr's of the world the Scott Burrell's of the world. I forgot the word that he used but this discretionary bullying whatever. I don't think that was the words. But that's basically where he was going towards. What were your thoughts when you heard what Charles Barkley had to say about Michael Jordan and in regards to his treatment of his teammates. Well look everybody's gotTa take on Michael and how? He was on teammates. I mean that's so far Houston. What's that selective? Prosecution was the words he used select prosecution. As we'll start me said look everybody had a different leadership style. The reason part of the reason for this documentary of the reasoning exists is because Michael decided. Okay I'm going to be able to control the conversation in terms of why I did what I did and how I did it. I it comes out and says you know you've had this conversation with him. He wasn't trying to adopt anybody else's leadership style. He was going to do this his way. And when it worked then you had to buy and you heard him during. I thought the most effective part of the last dance. The part that made me reach for a notebook and put my reporter hat back on his wall. Michael said winning has a price. And if you don't want to buy into the mentality I am using here. Get out it's going to be is going to be held for you. I think was the phrase so you see all those teams you see will produce e Winnington and those guys set at the time that we did it. Seem like he crossed the line. Yes as time went on. Do we think he was a great teammate. Yes this is not you look you can have whatever take you. WanNa have on it and I understand Charleston's tape because it was different but nobody else then time when as much I mean magic and Kareem on the way in but it worked and so I even sit there interesting. I'm watching in real time. I have not watched. I did not watch all the episodes of the advanced like most people in our business. I wanted to watch them in real time with my son. Who's a twelve year old basketball player and his eyes get so big? When Michael says certain things to his teammates we are watching. The unedited version would not watch the PG rated version of the DEUCE. And he's like. Wow He's a dad. Did he have to do that with his teammates? And I'm like I don't know if he had to but it worked they won. They didn't win occasionally they didn't win three and then lose to that they should have one say like Golden State they won and Jordan way worked. And so I I understand Charleston's take on it or if anybody else has to take on it but I understand Michael's as well. He's giving his take through these ten parts in this series in a way the football parallel to Jordan is actually coaches bellichik. Where his way is not the fun way? It just works the best but Michael. I wanted to ask you about something that the document the documentary. The last couple of episodes kind of got across that Seattle was a hopeless underdog in that finals. And that really spoke. Boorda Michael Jordan and the Bulls Dominant. Seattle is a sixty four win. Ten sixty four win team. Who would sweat back to back? Defending champion rockets who beaten in a seven game series Utah. Who would get out of the West two seasons in rural right after this season and they had a great team? Sixty four win team that Jordan. Just kind of brushed aside. How much do you think? Jordan's legacy what are you thinking to Jordan's legacy that. He never went to a seventh game that no other team was ever considered like. There's no Celtics Lakers 'cause Jordan was there otherwise maybe jazz or the Lakers right. We're the Celtics or that. Great rival.

"But is the coach important. Sure. I just think I do think though, I think it's silly to not think most about LeBron y'all got to think about the coach of the young players and developing integrating. But I do think LeBron is the is the biggest part of this job. And that's that's a good thing. That's not and it should be. And that's why this conversation's driven me a little bit crazy. The last couple of weeks is if it's somehow an impediment to the Lakers, like, no, it's awesome. That you have the brunt on the roster. It's you should be thinking about what type of coach can best use the skills that LeBron has and get the respect is guess what that's going to do. Just like Gregg Popovich. Tim Duncan just like Steve Kerr. And Steph curry like that relationship is going to is going to go down to the next layers of the roster, and the respect is gonna fall in line that way, I think. Yeah, I agree. A hundred percent coming up next. People are mad at us about our wing choice. We'll get to that in a second. Plus, I wanna get to this. Katie thing. We have not talked about the warriors stuff, and we'll take us. There's a lot of people on hold that one talk about the Lakers situation. I get we'll get you in. I got ta I have to have tons of completely disrespected the warriors last night. We'll we'll get into some of that Georgia Georgia disrespect truck coming up next. No, I won't I love Chuck. I may disagree with him as different back in three minutes. Right. It's the Sodano show. Mike, you're hanging out with George today. And George keeps saying stuff about the chicken wings that we chose which I don't particularly see what the problem would be in that context when he gets back in the second year. One of the things that I was noticing about the the big game in the NBA last night in terms of warriors in rockets was that well. I think it's just ridiculous that the second that Katy pulled up right now. The first thing that we all thought was back on let's over this isn't the achilles kind of look that way when he turned back. I felt the worst in that situation. But I so my first reaction was actually after I heard the report that it was most likely just a calf strain in that. That was good was then, oh, wait a second. This is exciting for the NBA playoffs. And again, this is with removing the fact that we know we don't want. Kevin Durant to get hurt hope that he's fine. He'll be more open. It just makes it not just open. It just it's just interesting. It's intriguing. It's that this it adds a level of intrigue. And I think because for a lot of people when Durant went to the warriors right people were outraged. I don't think you, and I were we we got it from transfer cool. But as it was cool. It's been cool to see the dynasty to an extent. But yeah, they didn't really need him. He was not. It's like the biggest luxury ever. And the other thing do we have the audio from Barkley Mike on what he said about this after the game give me one second. So while you're looking at up, I've saw this also on Twitter is if is if like the warriors are somehow dead now without Durant. That's silly. What we forget not only are they still possibly the best team the NBA. Yeah. Even without him. Even now, you gotta get some minutes out of Joe. And you gotta get some. Okay. Go ahead and play the Barclay audio after I got no chance of winning without Kevin Durant. This series this series or any series. Kevin Durant made them on beatable. They are not gonna between on beat avoid can't win a series. But will they they're not going to be wrong? Okay. Not going to beat the rockets without K D, And they're not going to be Portland or Denver. Okay. We waited. That's how important he is. He made them a dynasty. Let's don't sleep on. It people say what they want want. It did it was terrific and he wants to they lost. But that was like five years ago people like that was two years ago. They did not become a juggernaut onto Katie got their everybody who knows best ball..

"And so I got to watch the development of the Super Bowl, obviously, the Super Bowl being a step change different type of event from really any other. So a lot of times we get questions about how is this like the Super Bowl or how is this different from the Super Bowl? And I would just say a final four isn't like anything else. And Super Bowl really isn't like anything else. But if you scale impact from a ten day event like the one we had in February two afford day event that we're having now you are seeing the impact a hundred and forty eight million dollars of economic impact over four days. I think if you double and then some that to ten days you start to see while these are both events with huge opportunities around them. Being amateur sports college sports. Don't miss that. This is a very sophisticated business operation because of the NCAA relationship with Turner and CBS there's a contract that goes out to twenty thirty to a very unique collaboration where broadcast rights and sponsor rights have had been named and exchanged for vast sums of money almost two billion dollars a year. So there's a lot riding on this event. Those corporate partners have opportunity to do what they want to around ninety different sports events. But after final four it falls precipitously, there's frozen four. There's and I don't mean it doesn't fall in terms of importance to the student athlete or commitment to the student outpa-, but in terms of world followership and really your chance to have your brand in front of people. So final four is the big one. But at the same time, it's critically important that the experience is. Leauge it that it's generational that it's shoulder to shoulder right down Nikolett, which is our means street. We're redoing our tip off tailgate the experience. It's very it's the culture of final four is the brand of final four that. Everyone's there together. And oh, hey, there is Kenyan. Icy Charles Barkley. Mike goodness. Is that the Naismith award winner and that your chances of of being right beside these legendary icons are very very high. And then oh, yes. Some students in browley and then someone with their grandkids. And I think we'll north and the Super Bowl host committee in their ten day event extended that same invitation and this unique Minnesota way of how we take these fantastic opportunities. And just ring all the value out of them is something that our Tasca a business leader group. Calls bundling, and they did some research that suggests that with a strategy that is maintained and our core group with high capability. Eighty can ensure that that type of bundling occurs across all of these events that we were getting used to hosting one everyone to three years, and it's in the bundling that you get more economic the most economic benefit but a chance for geographic rebrand of our whole region as in bold north a chance.

"Let's get back to the phones as we speak. Let's go to rob. You lava Steve day talk to me. Hey, Steven, I watch out man from Missouri. How will you just keep on corrupt delay? Good. Hey, I don't think you're being speculative at all on Eli manning. Of course, if you wanna go that computer still in keep either because who in the right mind would be sadistic as this offense is gonna be next year when they're stacking ten guys at the box saquon Barkley, Mike, get his legs broke. I mean, of course, he's got nobody throw the ball to. So if I wanna know their hell, he'd still be there, come on don't even think quite just not just that. And rob rob not just that. This is this is the final year of his contract. This could be the swansong for ally. Manning, and you're subjecting him to this. He's in the glory years on his contract. I mean, he he wants to Super Bowls everybody thinks he's the best but come on. I mean, the guy's been guard for the last six years. Well, actually, you're wrong. Nobody thinks he's the best. Nobody thinks that. But I appreciate the call, man. Thank you so much. Let's go to trae you live, Stephen they talk to me try. Hey, Steven how you doing? I'm a young black student SPCA you, and you know, SPCA us aren't really valued as they are PW is. So for me starring podcast. It's like how would I get out of us? And you being one of my biggest expirations and Bomani Jones and others like that. Whatever ice would you give young black students that are trying to get in the world. They Terrain. train. Do your homework. Do your research for the most part know, what you're talking about be brave and courageous of what you have to say back it up with facts understand that you're not perfect. You're gonna make mistakes, but more importantly have thick skin because people are gonna come at you. They're going to try to knock you down because we live in an age and the day and age where people's definition of success is bringing somebody down to their levels rather than rising up above the fray and standing out above the crowd. Remember that and you'll be fine. Okay. Appreciate it. Take it easy, man. Let's go to Evan. You live. Stephen. They talk to me. Hey, what's up, Steven? How you doing? I'm all right. Go ahead, man. It's what in in terms of year. We're blessed to to me to think that Kevin Durant would want to go to the Knicks. Why would he want good with team that's won one playoff series in twenty years when he could be chilling out in California with his buddies winning championships. What would imagine that? You're right because it doesn't make any sense for Kevin Durant to wanna leave a situation like playing with the greatest shooting back cord in the history of basketball, but numerous reports have circulated. He wants his own team. He doesn't wanna be seen as a number two. He he will forever be seen as that. And Golden State. I can assure you that because that's Steph Curry's town. Make no mistake about that. They love that brother. He accomplished his goal if he wins this year he'd have three consecutive NBA championships. And the only thing left for him to prove his to find himself in a big market where he's the man he can't do it in L A with LeBron James there and Los Angeles right now, let's he went to the clippers so New York and who's to say he would go to the Knicks. Why wouldn't he go to Brooklyn can't rule that out either? Remember, they've got cap space and they're expecting to have cap space for potentially two two two superstars as well. So don't always assume that when we talk about Kevin. Durant? Leaving is for the New York Knicks. It could be for the Brooklyn nets. You read that Ernie Grunfeld screwed it up with finding John WADA huge contract. And I'm sure Katie would've looked to go home and play with the wizard..

"Well, he's he's still affective. He still has a love for the game. The rules are designed to protect the quarterback. So why wouldn't you keep playing? I would say this about going out on top. You know, Michael Jordan could have done that hit that shot against Utah Jazz. He retired from moment came back with the wizards. No offense. Kevin think when people think about Michael, Jordan. They don't think about that time with the wizards. They still think about that last shocker here over Brian Russell when he probably pushed. There's a horn. We're gonna get outta here with with it also Super Bowl week fetter. Wade Phillips look walking in with the hat and bump swayed or shooting video portraiture mode and finger in the shot. You notice that you're in the shots. Both very much brick ourselves. Time for. One of the great name. Wake up to a one of a kind kind of milk. Back to around the horn. Brought to you by checks coming to you from the port district here. Seventeen. Core for the Pro Bowl years ago was sixty two thirty five a rainy. Jason Garrett game gets you twenty six seven this year, Alvin Kamara Zeke Elliott saquon Barkley Mike Evans, play defense. Jalen Ramsey played offense scored the last touch out of the game, Jason Witten broke a trophy. Does it all and up to something? Good or something. Well, it adds up to something that people want to watch over a million people that's more than some playoff games. In other sports. There's still a strong appetite for this even though it's not particularly good football. Now, it'll never be good football because of the nature of the game. Which is why I think they should focus on elevating the skills competitions making them more like NBA dunk contests. Something people really want to watch. If you put it official NFL light in your refrigerator three million people would stay for three. No sense whatsoever. Stick a fork into Pro Bowl, it's done. Do you want to have an event have those guys come over from the senior bowl two week before then play against did if L pro bowlers that would be worth one. Oh, that is a solution oriented plasma TSU in red that I can get behind. How about you? Kevin Blackstone Joplin or maybe they go back to the old old days. And I'm sure what he remembers when they has the college all stars Klay the NFL champion that's two years. Yeah. That's I mean that that was kind of interesting. I didn't watch much of that either. And I'm not gonna watch Frank guys. You. I love. How would he says how great the ratings are? Then he doesn't want them to play the game. I think the goal is to nobody gets hurt. But I do like this the biggest hit of the weekend Jamal Adams knocking out the poor patriot's mask. I think I had to get sent to the hospital, and he is winning again terrible though, that was passed out for deal guys paying attention to tackle guy. Like that. He's kind of all I wanna I wanna ask this. Same question actually for the NHL all star game. Did it work all these things to try to generate interests and didn't work the game with its Woody style? Three periods by the white ten five the ping pong challenge. More line not safe for work once yourself and everybody was actually doing physically and the league all right skills. Competition me let's talking about. This KENDALL Coyne Scofield and w h ELS Minnesota Whitecaps first woman to compete. She finished seventh in the speed skate brianna decker of the Calgary inferno. She then mode the passing challenge which really wasn't televised live, but then you could put the pieces together when leaked on the internet fans thought she won the competition. NHL didn't really address it by the time..

"Ted Larsen is the reason that touchdown happen. He's sprung Kenyan Drake, and he gets no credit. We're all celebrating Kenyan Drake. But there should be a stat. If an all bits of linemen throws the block that allows a guy to score a touchdown. It's not just that though, Dan. We were also talking about touchdowns like some plays aren't touchdowns by quarterbacks touchdowns by the receivers. So the quarterback shouldn't be getting credit for those touched. We're redoing stats, Dan. We'll get back to you. When we have more of this is happening in advanced metrics, right? You're not redoing anything. This is stuff that people are doing all the time. But we're doing it differently. What billion I would like to have is a touchdown committee. If you throw a two yard screen pass and Todd Gurley takes it ninety five yard that should not be a full touchdown for Jared Goff. Let me ask you. This question might be an ignorant one on the Kenyan Drake play who gets the crew. Credit for the passing yards there. Does it get broken up? Like, Kenny Sammie hill. Did the least okay? Okay. But who, but I'm talking about just the typically never mind in terms of stugatz credit giving I'm talking about. Statistically, that's a sixty nine yard touchdown pass. But I'm asking does does. Devante parker. Get four yards for the four yards. He ran with the ball. Yeah. No. It does break down like that. Devante Parker gets five. I don't think. That's true. Yes. Stills guess fourteen. Parker gets five and Drake gets whatever forty nine or whatever. The the balance. You're joking right? No. I'm serious about passing yards. Here. Passing yards is all tannehill. So what listening? No, no, wait a minute. Wait a minute. I was talking about how does it break down in terms of receiving yards? Of course hill is going to get the passing yards. He's the only one throwing a path. Look, I can't make fun of you, Chris or Cody or anybody today because I've had the single worst start to a show that I've had in fifteen years doing this. I've spilled coffee on myself three times this morning and once all. Over the floor here after I hit my head on a bottle of tequila. That's the thing that actually happened this morning. Eight thirty somebody sent as the seven nine hundred ticket down here. Miami centers sent me a Christmas gift of tequila. I hit my head on it. I spilled coffee, Mike, and Billy have been cleaning it up for the last twenty minutes with me, I'm not, but they've really done a better job than for the last ten years. Honestly, actually, make a room smell a lot better. Like, I'm glad because is in here. Now. Now death warmed over is over here unless you've been swearing like a sailor, by the way, lashing out. Right. No. And I've been terrible on the radio as well. In fact, would you guys do me a favor? Would you guys? Just take it from here for the rest of the segment just do whatever show you want to do just talk amongst yourselves. The quarterback committee. So this is a committee that we assembled to determine whether or not committee touchdown committee coming people already so Bill. How would you do it this way? Like if if Jared Goff throws a five yard little out to to Todd Gurley little screen pass something like that bubble screen and he takes it sixty yards for a touchdown. But it's all Todd Gurley has nothing to do with Jared Goff. How would you how would the committee role that girly? If I was on the committee had give Gurley a full touchdown. And then Gough depending on how open Gurley was either get an assist or maybe a half touchdown, but not a full touched off a half touchdown and whoever had a big block on that play that that's what I'm talking about. And we have discovered recently. I'm telling you offense of Lyman. They have no stats all they have is Brian Billick, and pro football, focus, will they have pancake blocks do. Yeah. Okay. But I tell you they need something they need some validation for their work. And we have learned. Because of pro football, focus, just a valuable offensive linemen are, but they need to have that. That was Ted Larson's touchdown touchdown tatty. As far as I'm concerned baseball. Also needs a committee to decide wins and losses. I'm so tired of of a pitcher who pitches just the right one third of an inning getting credit for a win after the guy who just pitched four and a third inning. Kenyan Drake got fifty five yards total on that final play in receiving yards. So he gets a receiving yards after receiving the pitch or sales gets the initial. Committee for another day in hold on a second. Parker gets nothing. Yes. Berkeley gets fourteen yards. He started it. No still started. Then Parker or he gets five yard Mike said that Mike wasn't given anything to drink fifty five yards receiving from that they gave fifty five they they forgot Parker. But I'm with you where else on the where else in the stats sheet in football is there half because it's acts right sacks. Give you half right tackles, half, a tackle. I also think we should give be giving people total yards. So like if you run forty yard side to side, you get those yards to come on. Oh, that's terrible idea. Football. We're penny. Ran eighty six yards. I'm always a twenty yard gain the sideways yardage, Dan springs. You you're keeping yourself upright. You're keeping yourself. Not tackled. You keeping yourself running. If that's springs you for fifty more yards bellies on touchdown play. That's going to be filled with half touchdowns in assists. But if you go and you run four hundred yards on a play for whatever reason up and down the field for time to get four hundred yards. I think tackles they do assisted tackles, actually, I don't know if they do have tackles. I'm gonna check assisted touchdowns passing appearance counts. Now you get the yardage on there. It's it's such a bummer and fantasy receiver. Just holy beat somebody and they drag him down because they're beat. You. Don't get any of the yard. You don't reap any of the rewards. Why are we changing football should also get bonus credit if you have small feet, you know, because if you wear like a size eight Clete, you're working harder to get those yards. And if you have like a Brogan like a size twelve steps. Yeah. Finally, someone said it. Yeah. It should be steps. Not yards. Be careful boys. You guys, Cody and Stu gods? Both of you. This is fairly amazing arguing for more stats like you guys. Come in here every day. And you say fewer sets fewer stats fewer stats now. You want to change everything? The right stats were just tweaking the stats stats stats. Fair stats. Some of these things you're talking about. It's not the official stats that you'll find on ESPN dot com. But all of this stuff is accounted for the Packers have had more yardage lost and dropped passes than any team in the sport. They are tracking this stuff. Right. But does anything happen to those wide receivers? I mean, that's that's what I'm wondering. Do they get negative stats because of it? Well, I'm totally with you get your hands on your shoulder and throw that thing like a man or woman. Actually, I want to see league where it's only shovel passes. How hard can you make it go? Metric Mahomes can throw a ninety yard shovel pass. He's gonna do that before the season's over. He's just. Emporer the nine against the Rams. If the Phillies settled freight, Andrew mccutchen, let me tie they're going to be less content. If they have Manny Machado, I know these people they listen to me, we don't want Machado merry go home. You're lazy for our city. We watcher. I would much rather overpay for Harper. Then give them a China. What he's asking for in this city. The only people we lack Johnny hustles. Thank you, really. Okay. Made my point just, you know, I know all my calls out pretty much falls in eagles right now is going to fire this Adam off the top. Hi, tommy. Hi, Tom, you want Machado here. You know? You were like who who who would? I like to be you know. Tom. It's not that complicated. Do you want Machado here? Yes. Or now. Hey. Emmanuel. Love travel because teammate or rule that you have to hostile right? He's on our side. I'm looking forward to your remarks about Nick foles, where do you think it on Nick? Hey, you know, what? Like, you had some little bit earlier, you know, he's laid back from relax. Say Tom Brady, I believe that's a great point. Who do you want to be Tom who would you like to be in sports? Charlie manual. Don't be a stranger chaining her hours to tend to and you can call me Joe, and you can call Al John. Yeah. Right. Nice guy. Great, sixty seconds. Isn't it? What makes it fun though? Look, obviously went through your guy going forward. But. Who's the one guy that has a better game? Every time foles is starts, right. Yeah. He must be easier to coach a call place for Gina must be what it is. I don't know. But it makes the whole team better makes it so therefore your defense is better. It's all way around you gotta cut cut a little slack there. Now west is your guy obviously going forward play at Saint Nick time, and it's Saint Nick. I g y you're what you're telling me is even if Wentz healthy you'd rather see foles play Sunday. Yes, sir. That's what I'm hearing. You know, what I feel the same way? Same better. Get I don't know what it is about the guy. But the guy's a magic man go out there and perform another miracle is this time right now. And where did you do you want Machado here? Do not see. It's not it's not a Philly guy is not our style style. And Carl I'm doing I'm trying to do my best to get that signal out. I don't know if it's being received. But I'm trying you want to be in sports. Okay. Great guy hall of Famer multiple MVP all-star. Great attitude. Billionaire is gonna be most of all eagles fan local guy lake trout. Oh, that's going on. They're going to give them three hundred million. But just in case that's not enough. Sure. We're gonna kiss his ass until it's chapped. Yeah. All right. And understand. I'm not making this up. Gabe Kaplan, a personal friend. Yes. At the Christmas party stood up. And he made it clear. How did this is about wooing a man who you're going to write a check historic numbers? Yeah. Listen agape. It's been reported that Manny Machado is coming to town. And we're absolutely really excited to have him and show him all the cool things about Philadelphia. But I think the biggest pitches Manny, you are the guy that has an opportunity to put us over the edge. I don't even think Manny cares about that indicate was he class top when the dodgers lost to your Red Sox. But he seemed devastated by that. Mercenary me give a damn well every now, I think he gave it. I don't think he's getting his fair props. He made a stupid the guy. He played shortstop, correct? Yeah. Lousy. Why know about lousy he's he's a great. So contemplate that before you consider signing this massive deal, which will hamstring the Philadelphia Phillies from making future moves. So you better be able to back up these numbers. If you choose Philly what you probably won't anyway. And one other thing you're gonna meet the manager. Gabe Kaplan, who is a nice guy. But Gabe the very first game. He ever managed in this town because alley forgot to put the relief pitcher. Remember that was Ari. We booed the crap out of them in the first game he ever managed here. If you come here, you will be booed during the introductions on opening day out. There will be boos. No, they'll be Manny Machado when they introduce him before is I gave you you ought to be here. That is not a reputation that he has nationally the people in Miami. No though because if Kobe played here and Dwayne played in Los Angeles. But at the end of the day that will always exist, and yeah, I don't have a problem at this point saying that we were concerned about that having lost the core leadership for so many years. We knew we were handing that over to a new group, and we knew that three or four of these gals would sort of be the ones that most would look to and they're they're persona. They're their behaviors their body language needs to be great always. And it's not and that is making it that much more difficult for everybody else. And then once the once the feeling sets in with. A lot of people that some don't seem to care as then you are really in for it. Because people need to know that their teammates are invested. And we've reached a point in the season. Sadly, I can't sit here and be honest with you and tell you that I think every day everybody's giving it their all. Rolling is going through the motions. And that's the that's the hardest thing for me to sit here and tell you that, but I'm just being honest, and that's actually one of a couple of important parts about having experienced players within your program. One is more from a technical standpoint. When you're in practice, and so forth, you have players who've been through drills. They they know how this defense sets up whatever it may be that they can help the newcomers be in the right places. But that is while important to me, a secondary thing to the culture that we just talked about the approach to things the way you go about things the way you conduct yourself. Yeah. I mean, it's also interesting that we just had alumni back this week. And I don't I won't. I won't repeat the expert in the profanity's, and we had alumni going. We know what what the blank blank blank is this. Yeah. There you have it. You know, not on my watch. I heard of that a few times. Well, okay, you're not here anymore and the hardest thing and I think about this. And I learned this in two thousand one I got here in dealing with the Wichita eagle in the first people to interview me. You know, right off the bat. Well in team sports, or maybe maybe even an individual sports for people. It makes me wonder. Okay. It was it was real easy to demonstrate you at your finest. When we were at our finest. Are you only able to demonstrate high high competitive spirit when the school board? But the message in the narrative and all the little fancy words hasn't really changed. You got work to do. And plenty of it. And find yourself fighting and coaches find yourself teaching, and you know, you don't you don't hear me standing here complaining about Austin, Sean. And if I really thought that was a problem, I probably would say to you, Mike, but I need to see these guys step up and fight for something as we go to uconn ten temple. "Who do you want advice always as the person after you who they want they'll tell you the truth and then i'm gonna take saquon barkley i think the temptation there is seeing ode l beckham junior's name on the board it soundly is reception league i assume mike's gonna take him but i stick to my guns and that generally means drafting a running back mike and i went with auto beckham he is the he is my top tier wide receiver of right now i have brown hopkins beckham in that top tier to be fair and tony brown probably should be his own but i got those three guys very close together and i was hoping that on the way back i was going to grab kind of my favorite running back on forcibly four of the next six picks were running backs including four net kareem hunt andy's personal favourite kareem hunt rising up his now rapidly melvin our and delvin cook this is why took a running back just for the no back the gamble here because i knew mike was gonna draft twice and this happens in your league to you're gonna have somebody if they're drafting around you you know their tendencies i was worried that if i went oda beckham junior i would see five six great running backs off the board mike double up on running back and i would not have a guy near the tier of saquon barkley mike went with beckham junior those four guys off the board julio owned michael thomas with the second and third pick of the second round and now mike's face some tough to i'm certainly struggling over here because i don't.

"The big 12 through for ten thousand yards i mean i'm just throw numbers out sixty thousand touchdowns quarterback rating of a million you know and he can't even get on the field for the team that's looking for a quarterback instead their planned a 38yearold journeyman in josh mccown actually put okay so far but you get the point so the skewing of numbers goes both ways where we sometimes overreact to the inflated numbers and here's some looks at at door north at sam's throws in the one thing i will say about him at a crate throw right there has off his back foot role in to his right we overreact sometimes to the arcade numbers of the college level favourably but sometimes in the case of sam darn old i think we also overreact to chase you know nine touchdowns seven picks this is and what we signed up for this is what we thought was going to happen which is true i mean nobody floatie that two more touchdowns than picks at this point your yard it's almost october and he's not even the favorite to win heisman and neither is josh rosen and josh alan hasn't been very good rudolf lost recently and he didn't play particularly well so there's a lot of issues with these quarterbacks at least in terms of first glance like wow it's underwhelming the stats are quite favorable but there's there's context there and of i think in the case of somebody like josh rosen the context is team steaks with all the respect i mean you see la's bed at what was the for jazz rose and they might be a three when theme this year and really they might be somehow gives them a chance even hang around every week okay so sake while barkley mike we at long wednesday believe we had him on wednesday and take it i just love this kid on of turkey's raving about a running back you know you know i'm paying attention especially the running backs and we asked them it was really good spot really good kid a matter of fact he was sitting outside of his classroom on these staircase conducting the interview from campus before he went into class kid gets it and we as but everything about the win at iowa lastsecond come back you know pretty soon their play michigan oh how statebacked back after the get past indiana this week at cetera and we asked about.
