"Then I will then I will have gotten because the thing is, is like, I listen to Hamilton for two years before I got to see it. And I remember I will never forget Emily Heller, telling me, in that first year, I was like, I was so into it. She was like, isn't it great? I'm going to go see it next in a month in New York. And I was like, how did you get tickets? And she said, I'm rich, Jackie. I was like, well, I love your honesty. She was like, yeah, I have a writing job, Jackie. I'm fine. And I was like, oh my God. Yes. Because it costs $1600. Yeah. It was like a $1 million to go see this thing, and then she had to fly there and put herself up. And so it was a project. It was a thing. And then when I finally did see it, Hamilton, it was a delight. I saw it at the pantages. And I had seen it with we had to buy season tickets to see it. So we saw the whole run. I saw a very weird musical version of that Whitney Houston song, which I think is a Dolly Parton song. Babs and I got tickets for exact same, we did the exact same thing. So the exact same shows the bodyguard musical. That's it. I thought that was so fun. It was partially really fun. And partially, they seemed serious about it. And I wanted them to be a little more campy about it and a little more because I think the movie was a little more campy. Yeah, I think I might have seen it with an audience that was in on the campiness of it. I think I saw it with a good audience because everyone cheering when she's saying the final I will always love you so now that people were standing and yelling and dancing and yeah. That was actually really fun too because at the end of it, there was a sing along and there was all this. It was super fun. Yeah. Are Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian Knocking Boots?

"Now I want to plug to the world is absolutely upside down. But today you've probably heard all about this, Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson were spotted holding hands on a roller coaster at not scary farm in LA. People magazine's got the scoop, I love the scoop. Yeah, like no one called them. I'll get to that in a second. I don't think this is real. But somebody is telling magazines that the situation between these two is just friends hanging out, which is what I think. Although somebody had gawker, they've confirmed they say that Kardashian and David's and by the way, you think they're like kind of the same age. She's 41. He's 27. I always think of him being a little older than that. And her being kind of younger, but no, 41 and 27. Wow. She's like a goddamn cougar to him. So people like gawker is saying they spent the night together at an LA hotel on October 28th. And not scary farm is not that far from Calabasas where she lives I'm wondering why they even have to do that. I don't know. These two might seem like a non couple, but the connection if you think about why they were together it makes sense. Pete Davidson is friends with Machine Gun Kelly. They did a movie together called big time adolescence. And Machine Gun Kelly's latest album is produced by Travis Barker who's engaged to Kim's sister, Courtney, and Barker, by the way, let's not forget this and all the smoke and mirrors. Buckner had a one point set he wanted a bone Kim before he even got to Courtney. People aren't talking about that, but that's certainly true. And let's also not forget that Kardashian did kiss Pete Davidson on Saturday Night Live last month. So that is some people thinking, wow, wow, did that kind of awaken some kind of lust in her heart? I don't know. I don't think

"Walk you through how that idea dawned on you from being the rockstar to you. Know what. I bet people would pay us money to be awesome for them. So how did you add you put into together. That's extremely insightful. Know because i think there's a lot of folks who come from the world of entertainment and and that's what it is you know is entertainment and then you come to find that like you put a lot of energy and time into creating whether it's performances or events or shows whatever it is that you're really doing in in that world you know you come to find that you know the buck or a really lack of a buck kind of stops and You know because just like you said it doesn't It doesn't really accomplish. A you know what we would consider to be a marketing goal. You know a case in point even like when we did be you know the the big mud wrestle which which was something. I just wanted to do just for the for the heck of it. It's great it's like you know. Events are fun you know and you can definitely throw an event and get a lot of people you know there and and then and then that will then that will quickly be forgotten. You know and it's onto the next thing you know. So how can you create something that is so. That's the see that was was planted. Because we would do all these interesting things. You know all the time really just kind of you know light people up but then you're like all right well. What is this really accomplishing. You know how can this help a brand or a business or someone else you know. Who was maybe interested in. That kind of like you know electrifying you know as you say sorta like rockstar sort of feel by creating something cool but we needed to accomplish a goal and so what what happened was last year. You know really just being you know locked in you my my place. Just as everything was was shutting down and everyone was all us scared to death. You know. I really became obsessed with how to create the perfect headline and and i just. I spent just my days studying copy. How do you create something that draws attention and encaptures commands people's attention And as i was doing that really just for fun you know. I been attached to thinking well if we were able to take this idea and then create an event based around like a headline that is proven to work. Then i think we can get like a whole lot of traffic to something and then if we take that and then attach it to a marketing goal. It would be just interesting to see the results like so now for the first time like. Why don't we treat an event based on this really. This proven like headline formula. That's just been done time and time and time again where on paper it. It feels organic and it feels like it just spur. Just dropped out of the sky but really it's not and you know and so i remember i was out in Visiting my mom and dad. You know in in georgia and you know i was it kinda hit me you know. We were sitting at a mexican restaurant. Y- eating and i was like well. What if i would. If i what if i were to spend twenty four hours in a tub of bean dip and in what we did you know. Why don't we. Why don't we have that. Be the headline man. Spins twenty four hours tova. Bean dip in initially started off as As in barbecue sauce. I think was was like i was like the first Scratch idea and we were kind of like playing with that for a little while and thinking that might be kind of interesting to see if we can kind of some hype around that if we can accomplish a goal here and it was at the same time you know that we had heard You know that. Back here in california over here in chatsworth. Which which is where. I would swear i live There's this restaurant. Los toros and in this is another mexican restaurant me and my family have been going here like four ever and they're very very popular in the neighborhood like big family restaurant. You know just just the type of restaurant that you know. My parents and might might chew sisters would go to all the time for special occasions so it was always like this was always the spot like birthdays holidays. No whatever it was you name it. We would go to los toros and they have this like taylor bean dip like this addicting bean dip. Everyone here knows the beat. And and i i. I saw online that they were struggling. Due to to co vid and people here in the neighborhood were putting up go fund me is trying to do different things just to kind of get the word out that los toros needs our help right now and You know. And so. I saw that and i called the owner nick and just presented the idea and said you know nicolette. We'd like to try something here. you know we in so again we. We did not go in saying you know that this is. This is a proven. This was our first test really to see if we can create one of these outrageous ridiculous events based on the headline to to drive the traffic and do all that stuff and he was like he was like. Yeah would you be okay with you. Know drinking a margarita in the tub and i was like of course absolute. Let's do it. I'm not just okay with it. I prefer it. Yeah yeah let's let's do it. Let's them margaritas to and so in so then Then what happened was so. I built the landing page for them. Built the flyer for them and when we started you know working with the messaging you know where You know his it's it is it is popular when you're trying to drum up some traffic for a restaurant or that people will do like giveaways new little things like that. You know my my thinking is always like everyone's trying to advertise something everyone's trying to market everyone's trying to promote and what ends up happening is like you know folks kinda start doing the same thing you know and we start getting we start seeing the same thing over and over and over again and it loses that special quality or like you know what we would say is that surreal quality. You know the thing like the magic of seeing something that's far out completely unique in different for the very first time. That gets us so excited to wanna you know that that stops are day to pay attention to whatever the heck that thing is just in the same way that like magic or stunts things of that nature do and so because minds like how do we. How do we do that for business owners. How do we do it. to draw attention to what they're doing so we have to do something that's added the ordinary so even when it came to like the giveaway. That was like all right like we want to. You know we're doing this stunt but we really wanna like blow up your guys email us you know. We want to market this to people like local in the community. We wanna get as many people as we can. Subscribe to this flyer. You know so. We're like so back in the day it would have been like all right. We're doing an event You know we'll we won't know who you are at the at the end of this and it was like every single day we were seeing like hundreds of people opting into this and it was like it was just beyond like any other just standard giveaway promotion. Just your standard marketing thing that we we would have had done before for other businesses. It's like once we attach a truly far out outrageous story.

Travis Barker Vowed to Fly Again After 2008 Plane Crash: ‘I Have To’

"He's a friend of the neighborhood, and we remember this and I do think most people do. But I think some people forget that back in 2000 and Travis worker was in a plane crash where they tragically Four people died. It was only he technically is the only sole survivor from that plane crash because DJ AM passed away a year later. But for a long time, Travis Barker didn't fly, You know, rightfully so, considering everything that he went through, and actually he's been in the neighborhood and you guys have talked about it, and he talked about his experience with it for a couple years. It was real. I'd be in the back of the tour bus just waiting, you know, like impact with something like That I felt in a in a way. I don't think anyone else experienced, um and lived through it that I was always waiting for that. Did you feel the impact where you sleep in the plane? Or did you feel that that impact also Now I was the only one awake during the whole the whole process. Man. Would you ever fly again? Are you Right now. It's no Yeah. Yeah, man, And we've had conversations with that man. And I know this hypnotist. That's a real hypnotist by the name of Tom Tom Silver, Right? And he was going to sit with Tom Silver. And we we had talked about it, you know, And hopefully I'm not saying too much. But then you know, Jenni Rivera passed in her plane crash, and we just kind of you know, And I'm sure Yeah, that any time that would something like that would happen. It would take him so I can't imagine that. Oh, Get him out. No. But the last few years, Travis has said. He's really thought about it more, he said. You know if his kids wanted to travel, he would think about it. But it seems also that love has pushed him to have a breakthrough really big. They're saying that Travis has taken his first flight since that plane crash, and it's a little bit of it was the help from Kourtney Kardashian, his girlfriend, and they said, according to sources, I

Willow Smith Goes in a New Musical Direction

"Never thought i'd come out of a willow song same rock and roll here. We are willow. Is the artist. The record is called lately. I feel everything song hearing this. The closing cut called breakout willow. Also known as willow smith daughter will smith and jada pinkett smith and christina for people who remember her when she was just nine years old and released her debut song. Whip my hair. She's twenty now and this is not that right. Well oh and i have a lot in common and that we've had our beef as you know. We've had our nineties singer songwriter. Phase where we're into tracy chapman and maybe a little bit of Fiona apple here and there but now she's into what i was in sioux coming out of high school which was paramore and my chemical romance and it really really shows so ninety s. I read that she was inspired to go in this direction in part because of her mom right so in two thousand sue jada pinkett fronted. A new metal ban call wisdom so music runs in the family But also in particular what was brilliant sparring willow was that at that time as. She's watching her mom literally rock out she would also see. Your mom received death threats literally just for fronting abandoned genre considered quote unquote white and so this music is definitely. It's artistry but it's also activism for her because she wants to show like other black women. Hey we need to reclaim the genre that began as ours. And i even hear that like from fuck you. Which is i believe. The second track where i was like. Oh man this is her channeling x ray specs and this is even before i realized that polystyrene was half somalian. So some notable features on the record to cherry glazer this travis barker and tara appears on a song called extra. Want to play just a little bit of that. My i was ready. I wasn't prepared to go to scare you still right

Khloe Kardashian Wants You to Use Less Plastic

"Courtney Kardashian boy is she the echo warrior of the Kardashian family, huh? I mean, look, Courtney has been busy with Travis Barker. So she can't really do much right now, but Chloe has picked up the ball when it comes to environmentalism. Chloe decided to do her part the other day and fight pollution and she encouraged her 152 million followers on it. Does anybody understand the power? I mean, presidents don't have nearly that much power with the public. I want 152 million followers on Instagram. She said, make the switch from bottled water to refillable water bottles. 'cause she wants everybody to reduce single waste plastics. Remember that term, single waste plastics, especially when you think of them plastic Kardashian family. So the Internet went a little bonkers on her and tried to remind her that excuse me, switching from heavy on to tap while it doesn't do shit if you live like you and your family live. Have you forgotten how you live? I mean, she posts, look, Chloe just gets herself in trouble, nonstop by changing a look so constantly or consistently that I don't think her daughter is gonna know who mommy is when she looks back at pictures from mommy Chloe from 1998 to 2003 to 2021. She's not gonna recognize that as the same woman. All of us have pictures of her mom where we can pretty much tell that was my mom because none of our moms had fucking worked like this or had injections or let's call them single use plastics shot into their fucking body. So she wants us to the whole reusable water thing, she urged her followers to move away from single use items. And she ended her big earth mother thing by recommending that we use filtered water pitchers or tap filtration attachments because that'll make it an easier transition to get away from single use waste. Listen, I suppose it's a nice message, but I'm one of those fucking people who doesn't understand why we have to get rid of plastic straws, but we still have plastic spoons and forks and fucking knives and plastic paper to hold the spoons and forks and knives and plastic plates. It makes no sense to

"Kardashian did a little q. And a on her instagram story and she cleared up whether or not her and travis barker have ever had a romantic relationship. I've ever had ever hooked up of war. She wrote false. It's a false narrative and that she's happy for him. And courtney so i think we just gotta take it from the queen's mouth. And that was the you. Don't you could pick which questions to answer. She didn't have to answer that question. She went out of her way to say false narrative and maybe it is true but maybe the whole is like now. We're just going to squash this right now. Either unbelieving kim k. "Some have said the transformative learning is the fundamental educational task of our times. The best college teachers don't just teach they transform. We all remember teaching transformed us in some ways. Maybe this was through study abroad. Service learning or cooperative learning my study and lies. How three teaching trends global learning transformational learning and indigenisation offer transformative experiences to evaluate them. We ask a simple question. How do they transform. Students for example in digitized classes transform how we think about the land many of see the land is something to plow mine pave or fence off. How can we transform by seeing land as identity showing relationships tar past and future can global learning work saying way. Many people see others around the globe as foreigners or remote aliens. How can we transform humans who share joys and concerns comparing these trends shows how they transform learning one. Does it by looking at the land under your feet. The other one it by looking at the land under all our feet turns out all three trans global learning transformational learning and indigenisation. Do the same thing transform. The learner push learning in the same direction. Seeing that direction can help college programs work together.

"Publicly. Meanwhile, Google is up before Britain's Supreme Court today in a case that could cost it billions. Google is fighting claims that it illegally harvested personal data from British iPhone users in 2011 and 2012. It allegedly managed to sidestep a block and Apple safari to gather data on users race, mental health, political leanings and sexuality. Among other things, the consumer advocates bringing the case want Google to compensate four million iPhone users of $1000 each for the use of their data. Vicki Barker.

"It and he wants to sit with it. So this is this is part of the him taking control of the environment. If the other dogs aren't game for that, you're going to have conflict. Now they can also have gardening or resource guarding when it comes to the humans in the home and can be very challenging because there's different hierarchies with dogs with how they recognize who's in charge of the items, as well as WHO's in charge of the human attention, and then you throw food in there and they can even be a different hierarchy of WHO's the top dog when it comes to food. So. In my house. I have different rules I didn't set some of those roles. My dogs did. So I have one dog that's a little bit food aggressive. The other one is twee aggressive and we have to follow those rules in order for there to be a harmony in the household In your situation this is quite complex I'll be very honest because. I would need to be in your home environment to really see what is going on and how these doggies are. Getting, along to really kind of help. Help things out now you did bring up one point about some of the aggression you feel came out after a vaccination visit. and they're certainly can be pets get They can feel rundown after vaccinations or also passed thinking feel kind of jazzed up in feel weird. "barker" Discussed on The Podcast Domination Show | Grow your audience, make money and have fun doing it

"For my audience that's not what my podcast is about. Yeah so a couple of things. I want to ring off there. That think are super important for people to learn more one. Your super consistent. You went even if you change up the cadence from two to one yet wherever you every week coming out with new stuff number two. You know what you're there for as in teaching so you're you're putting yourself automatically the expert because you're not bringing as many guests on if any guests on at all and like. I've seen your episodes or shorter there to the points. They won or as a longer one. It's like twenty five minutes usually between eight fifteen unless I have great guest. I've gone to an hour. Gotcha before that's the Max for me. Right right yeah majority though right are like eight to ten minutes typically with your much yeah. Gotcha in and out people learn and then they go ahead and then your call to action also is it. Now it's still promoting the book or is it just I said under management once they get to my website and they Rick Barker Dot Com. That's where they get everything and that's where I drive everyone for the show notes for everything on it but one of the things that really changed for me as that. You can't teach on a podcast. You can't physically teach someone how to do something it's really hard. I can show you a trick like we just did right. You want to give them the what they need to do and why they need to do it and then send them to the how I like that. You could collect an email address so that you can then carry on that conversation. Lot of podcasters will try to give way too much on the podcast that the person doesn't have a reason to follow up with you. You WanNa give a reason to follow up with you. So give them the why they need to do it the what they need to do. But don't show them the how and I was guilty of showing them the how now it's just I try to. Wow them enough to say. Hey and if you love a free copy of my book I'd love to send you just go to Rick's free book dotcom matter of fact head over to my website. It's all there for you. I have everything set up on my website every button they clicked. They go into a funnel whether it'd be the manager assessment whether it'd be the book whether it be the social media for music wherever. I Send Them. That's why sending them to something that you own your website so then that way you can go back and re target them later. I think super important. Oh yeah exactly and with you. I know you've definitely worked with Ryan levesque's some of the best in the world when it comes to Unplug your website right now share with on the screen with everybody. Because I think it's really brilliant. Haven't up you see your mushroom go ahead or it is crew. So that's the podcast. So at the bottom of the page is my most. It's always a podcast kind of all your episodes exactly so if you go to podcast. I use Pat Flynn Smart podcast player. Yep that's a really slick players so that's That always looks good. Nice nice pictures here all the episodes Bingo so if you go to the hall subscribe to the home if you go to subscribe you. Click that I'm using a smart says Moore link. Yeah which is good to let picks. Are you ready for a manager is going to take them to a funnel? Got It so articles podcast assessment. Listen to the PODCAST. Most popular episodes of the PODCAST. We put in there One of the things that I'm doing right now. If you go to spotify tips and tricks of something go. Roll up the spotify tips and tricks. What I've been doing is taking my youtube videos and youtube videos inside the blog. Also that I get the play credit for that but I also keep them on my website longer for Seo right so that's another strategy that we're doing instead of always sending them someplace else. I want to send them to my website so I can get the Seo and be the expert exactly exactly. I'm guessing you also have this. Facebook Pixel are they're probably everywhere right so it's like you could actually if you just drive all the traffic from your podcasts. Maybe your homepage or do I just sent him to the website. Create a lookalike audience. And you can. You can build your run paid adds to your podcast essentially with a look alike audience impressions which is brilliant For you how else have you leveraged your podcasts? Or what you're doing there that content other any other specific ways you've leverage to help you grow grew revenue grow your trial. I just think any time that you can continue to build authority and grow your authority at help. So with anchor people can ask questions. So there's an APP so anchor does well on the phone and you don't go to podcast so go to podcast again and go into any of the show notes so just go to. Today's podcast for example. Josh you know that was like a like a popular episode to just go into podcast. Scroll down let's go to recent okay. Yeah so when you see this. Hit the more button here so inside here. If you'd like to leave me.

"Now if you haven't it's great because if there's a recall or any news that really affects you and your animals you'll get it I through your notifications on your your phone your smartphone. I still have one of those. Flip phones upgrading. has really. Oh my God I know it's I don't even know how to work those anymore. I you know things confuse me. Like Electron confuse me in phones especially so I'm happy with it. You don't have your old dial phone. It's well I would if I could would. It's it's actually more costly now. Have a dial phone or a landline. Ones they want you to get one cheaper if you get the landline. And who needs it? I mean how can I text from a landline at a restaurant? That's what I want to know. Because that's what you do at restaurants you know when you go out with a lot of people you just everybody your phone. Yeah don't even talk to each with my little flip phone. I'm like looking around at everyone at the dinner table. Like trying to start some conversation but they're all engaged in their phones. Oh Yeah and then we went out to dinner the other night and there's a computer right there on the table that you pay your bill from God forbid that you would wanNA play the Trivia. You would have to pay an extra two dollars to kids. I thought I'll play the kids trivia. That's gotTa be free. They always do everything to make the kids happy. Oh guilty I played that before. Got The bill for whoops anyway So it appears that in just a few minutes we may be talking to Bob. Barker for his fifteenth appearance here on Animal Radio. Find Out in just a couple of seconds right here a lorry. What are you working on over there in the newsroom? Well we've got something new happening in the world of exotic pets but this isn't your kind of water tropical pat. This is more of a unique new pet. But they're calling it exotic and we'll tell you what it is and it's supposedly very very difficult to potty train this if not impossible. Don't get your hopes up. Okay okay. I'm not even potty trained yet okay. So let's go to the phones and another one for Doc. We have ron on the phone. Hi Ron Welcome to the show. What's going on from Jock lab named Dolly? She's chewing on her pads on the bottom of our feet right now or two front paws. Go ahead well. If this is something where it just happened all of a sudden the first thing I look at it as if there's been some reason activity that's kind of gone over the edge. Some dogs will just be especially labs. They'll be a little bit anxious in Overdo it when it comes to activities like retrieving running so if there's been some physical injury where she sustained that then We look at bandaging and getting her off her feet and some aren't are for a while. Now there are certainly dogs that will get some cracked pads and for various different reasons. Some of them can be some Metabolic problems inside the body And Other Times. It's just a matter of some dry skin or what. We call hyper carrots. Hostess so I it really would be something. I would advise to have a vet their eyeballs just so that we could make that distinction because there are definitely some really freaky looking foot pads in older dogs. Where the the foot pad actually grows off to the side. It gets all kind of briskly looking and it can have all these fissures and cracks in it and by itself that isn't usually a problem So the fact that she's bothering it and especially if we see and using her bleeding then you know this is something we really need to get a look at it and with an older girl of thirteen. Some of those metabolic problems can come to the surface and we might want to. You know evaluate that a bit further. Oh Gosh is what this is all of a sudden. I'm a truck driver choosing truck all the time so okay. It causes a problem because they're different places all the time and she's walking with all the time and that's hot sometimes the Yea In this if this would be something where You know it sounds silly in Hallo probably laugh at me but our our dog. Booties and dog. Socks that have little bits of skid pads on the bottom so it is a matter of your her feeder sensitive and we're not able to get to a vet to do bandaging some of those little socks in The booties it. Takes a little time to get amused that knack limited to that but that might be a protective device that you could use especially when you're on the road to just keep those feet from really getting irritated and yes. I would put those on boss. I think that's totally fine. There's nothing wrong with it. They're cute. "barker" Discussed on Animal Radio

"Villani news director. Lorie Brooks and now from the Red Barn Studios here are your host Hal Abrahams and Judy Francis. Today he is back for his fifteenth appearance on Animal Radio. If you're a regular listener you already know who that is. That would be Mr Bob Barker. He is an amazing gentlemen. How old is he now? I think he's what ninety three ninety sharp I admire him for. You know staying active and up with his his personal causes. I I think that's remarkable and I. I hope to be of that position at his age. Young Kid and I don't know if he's still has any animals. I know he had rabbits. So we'll have to ask you about that but either usually a rabbit next to him on every phone call. We'll find out. I know they were getting up there in rabbit ears. How long does it rub? It usually live so I see him living eight to ten even twelve years. Sometimes oh prolific guys to let them roam free on the whole second floor and they would get into the TV and the cables lows. He didn't really care. I mean now. The second was further. Abbott for the rabbits absolutely But I will take a couple of your calls now and they will do some news at the bottom of the hour. Laurie what are you working on when you leave the House? I know I leave you know music or TV show on for my pets and there is a it turns out after this new research. That was released this week. One kind of music is a couple of times they don't like this one. Especially stresses dogs out who? I hope it's not the music leave. You know. Leave on classical music when I leave the house and I think that it would be calling for them. It's calming for me but we'll find out with a brand new research that Lori has done really interesting okay. We ready to go to the phones. Let's do it. Yes that's go. Hi Diane how are you? I'm fine how are you today? Good where you calling from Orlando Florida Orlando Okay. How can we help you? I found kitten female kitten and we brought her in the house because it was winter time both winter for Florida and she stayed here for a while. Actually she's living here now with Minter Spear Kitty Spirit. Kitty has swollen glands. It feel like it looked like the mumps do about it okay. So she's about how old right now then while she had her first heat so I figured she might be about six or seven months old. Okay and is she feeling sickly in any way no? She's she's very healthy she's active. She bounces around. Okay good okay. Well we have swollen lymph nodes especially in the neck area. A couple of things do come to mind One of the first things I think of in Kittens of about the ages between three and seven months of age if they can get a kind of strep infection and it's called juvenile streptococcal lymphatic night as if that's not a mouthful and then I don't know but the basically it starts as a strep infection that they get in the tonsils and it works its way to the lymph nodes in the neck so that certainly could be possibility there among other things so other things in kittens that will cause lymph nodes to be enlarged can be some viral diseases like feeling leukemia. We can also see bacterial infections Like Bartonella which are associated with cat scratch fever so any of these things I think are going to really justify trip for your veterinarian. So we can get her checked out and that might be something as I starting with getting her viral tested as well as you know getting a sample from the lymph node because that can tell us a lot there but for a lot of those things if we're not dealing with viral thing and we're talking about getting antibiotics and getting her treated appropriately so that that I feel pretty favourable about that and then we need to get this Gal Fade my goodness oh I know. I thought she was an older cat when I first brought around I went to give her some friends because they wanted to see her for the weekends. And when I did that she went into heat. And my says this is a kitten. This is not a cat. Yeah so definitely so Great that you took her in but yeah let's get her into the vet and we can all that taken care of pretty easily if it is what I think. It is all right. Thanks pave. Hey how you doing good? How are you doing today? What can we do for you? Well I was wondering if If there's a way to tell if my dog is a perfect way overweight for underweight that's a great question. Dave and I think you for asking that because I think a Lotta Times as pet owners. We think we know. Our dogs are in good weight and the actual truth is in the vast majority of the cases in my patients. They're actually overweight. So yeah and I like to share a factoid here because according to recent studies in dogs in the US thirty five to forty percent of jobs are overweight or obese. That's all that's all. That's a lot and counts are similar there about twenty five to thirty five percent of. Us cats are obese or overweight so this is a huge number and that does have implications. So I'm so glad that you bring this up because we know that obesity is going to cause our paths to have increased rates of problems like diabetes Arthritis Orthopedic Issues Skin Infections. Believe it or not. Many people are surprised by that because that excess skin from being overweight can actually be making more prone to non allergy type. You know skin infections. So it's a big issue so the number one thing that I would say is communicate with your veterinarian in our office every time we see a patient we do what we call a body condition score so we take a pets. Wait but we all also score their body condition and there's kind of two different scales for that one to five or one to nine of the two different scales but basically helps put a number at where your pets condition is so that we can measure that between different visits and different doctors potentially So that's something you can look that up online. There's one made by Sharinau but you can go to pretty much anywhere on the Internet and find a body condition score we can look at its charge and it gives the view usually from the side and from the top down. 'cause there's different ways we look at our pets. We're basically looking to see if they have a nice kind of like an hour. Glass glass figure for a pet so we want to see a little bit of tucked up in the Kind of in the abdomen area A little bit taper there. We don't WanNa see a potato shape and certainly we don't want to see kind of the torpedo shaped head of the rounded shape. So that's kind of crazy because my dog is like a tubular but she's a rottweiler shepherd. Mix So when you work at it from the top she's tubular. You look from the bottom. There's like a cut of where the back legs are but she seems very DC but strong in not overweight. You can't potentially gut at all. Yeah and I think I would probably have to see her because abnormal perfect way dog which Mike category three out of five when we actually put her hands on the ribs. We should feel ribs There may be a little bit of some shoe covering that but we actually do feel ribs and we also WANNA see that. Tuck up in the on the flank from the side And then if you're standing above we want to see a little bit of a tuck between the chest and the hips. There should be a narrowing there so if we're straight like a rectangular then I'm GonNa probably put your dog at four out of five just from what you're describing which means we're already in the overweight category so and that's where. I think you know getting a veterinary assessment is helpful And A LOT OF FOLKS. Tell me what number. How much should my pet way? And it's never about the number just like with people we hate to like you know. Label PAT says being overweight. Because they're over thirty five pounds or forty five pounds when the breed standard says they should be a different weight But the body condition score really is going to be very important for you to help figure that out in know how to alter your feedings Because that's the next step we're talk about is how to What kind of strategies do we use to just trim off a little bit of weight and this is what I do for my dog? So I I can tell you. experienced over all the years the amount of food that a pet food manufacturer tells you on the bag to feed his we over estimated. It is yes. Yes by far and I have people come in all the time and say oh you know my you know seventy five pound dog. I'm feeding you know six cups a day and that's how much the food manufacturer says and I'll be like you know what no are. They just putting that other label to sell more dog food the reason that the amounts that I think that there's a discrepancy whether or not we believe they're trying to sell more food or not. I don't know but I do believe that. We overestimate a pets. Metabolic activity. So what are they doing during the day Many pets hanging around the house. Sit on the couch bark at the mailman and they don't necessarily do a lot So if they're out doing athletic sports during running their hunting they're doing very vigorous activity. You may need to feed more of that higher. End of the feeding amount on bag dog food but The dog doesn't do that or goes for a walk twice a week or three times. A week is not getting that same level of physical activity that we might be expecting so every day count. You know more than me running to the television for the mailman. That's a good one hundred calories.

"Barker if it is a part of your career in your job may be finding someone who you can work wasted not to not have to go on as much but if you're just someone worse than being socially isn't that important or integral to your life I would say you know to lead top stop looking at it going to I didn't want to detox and cleanse and if you feel even addicted to the internet itself you could also just make a note on your phone and write down the impulsive when you want to Google things and when you want to look at things and maybe just be patient and observe that rather than give in to the the instant gratification if you were debating somebody from Facebook or Twitter what would you be saying to them right now I would say stop stop the trying to take people's energies and stop trying to control the way that that people use their time and and make them addicted to their screens because we're losing a lot of great art and a lot of creativity I've seen a lot of amazing young artists destroy themselves as social media it's kind of sad songs with them talking about like Alice dear something in the way other generations have talked about it but I'm very serious about that I think that it really it really takes away your creative potential and and you know a lot of the great works of art took a lot of focus and self discipline and we still will and social media doesn't encourage that it just makes you is on the make use angst some people on social media they will go wild let's say they go out to dinner Alex yeah all they do is take pictures of their food put it on either Snapchat or Instagram or Facebook that's it that's all they do so bizarre like it it's it's literally dystopian I think I think it you know it and their program to do that you know that's why I also don't like stop yeah yeah I I think teams are also a problem in our culture also because they they say that we're all supposed to react to something in the same way and I think a lot of social media isn't about individuality and and and freedom of thought and freedom of expression it's kind of about a hearing to the consensus in being a sheep we're gonna take calls as I said at the top of the hour for the final hour with Alex so get ready to make your phone calls questions or if you've had an issue with magic good or bad what what do you call the good side of magic by the way Alex is a bright white magic or what isn't I don't like magic having a color I mean I think the good side of magic is pop magic honestly she that's interesting did you did you come up with that phrase did you coin that phrase I I I I cut it kind of came to me one day and I was really I was really into Pennsylvania yeah because I love pop culture and magic and I just I see the intersections and I wanted to I wanted to I wanted to kind of create a one eight hundred pop magic kind of odd you know we're we're gonna come back and take calls with.

"When we WANNA come eat Mexican food will will come out and give you a free pair of shoes but up until tell them but once pitching other restaurants or pitching at restaurant apps or pitching anything like that you have that case? Study right you want. People want to know brands and agencies. WanNa know like have you been successful. And what is that so a media. Kit is no different than you go to facebook for. PPC for pay per click. And you go in and it's going to be three dollars a click this is this is the database we have and you okay and you pick that little thing and now you know what you're going after the same thing my website I say. Hey I have fifty thousand subscriber subscriber fifty thousand people come to my website a month eighty percent of its in the US It's Mo- mainly men mainly this and now you go to Nike and say this is the reason why we need to. You do a sponsored post to my website. It's because I have a fifty thousand and eighty percent of them are males. We're looking at forty thousand a month men and we'll see very high engagement for Mayo base things for these articles that I've written. These are my two biggest ones. One of them was about how to run superfast as an old man and the other one like how to you know shoot it creating and grow to muscles overnight or whatever that is at ties into this premise of like okay that makes sense and why we should work together. You know it's that old school of influencer. It's a marketing of the models. And all this that people look at it and now that's Kinda it's gimmicky because it was but it also worked right it's evolved in what it is today where influencer circuiting really can be anybody. Anybody can be an influence. I had a guy. This is a funny story so I was a keynote speaker at the first ever influence or marketing conference in Mexico City there was a guy that came on stage. They came onstage. All he does is pink stuff and what I mean by that. Like the color pink. He came out and a pink suit. He's got a pink Cadillac lack. I mean it was like Super Pink like like I think even had pink cup though. I mean that's yeah pep dismal Houston pepple business. He's done rosie wine when he's done. Well I mean th anything pink so then they would go to them in and they would go well all these people love pink and so they and some of it was a little gimmicky. Because it's like pepple Biz. Modern learn. How much pep Dole's sold? Except they could also talk about this guy and this guy would put these campaigns zone so literally he did campaign or did his influence or thing was about the color pink. There's another lady I know that Her name is Sarah Sweetheart. She we're not gonNA last names on sweetheart dubbed your sweetheart earnings really Sarah but hurting rosie the seasons if you look at Her on instagram her things. That Rosie wine then you'd think. Oh that's really niche down. There's how many different providers of rose wine so she gets invited to events she gets invited to this and everybody that now most people follower about rosie wine so she's a heavily heavily engaged audience when it comes to wine so if she tries a line and says this is is phenomenal. Here I am hanging out with verts demeanor at their annual concert. Show thing that they do. And she's as keynote speaker they're going to get eyeballs and they're going to potentially get sales from that so that's what you have to look at is. There is an influence for for literally. Everybody right when it comes to this now. I'm not saying if you're like selling real estate life you're selling insurance or something like I'm like hey go do influence or marketing. Because it's works because that's kind of a unsexy subject and it's a little more difficult saying it's impossible some of the you know the winds and the alcohol and the Yoga and the food and the you know the actually What was it? I don't know if you've ever heard of Christopher lockhead He's he's He's a category crater three times. Silicon Valley CMO one of my good friends is a real estate agent. I I am apparently disguise the top in the entire country and his whole thing that he started out with as he looked at the market around him and I guess he said Um What's the most important thing. Oh I closed deals so his whole theme was pack your bags you're moving. And he somehow role data in so I I'm just wondering if that means that. Yes even though they're difficult maybe there are ways to real estate agents can be sexy because it's like hey you you know kind of F- you pay me that kind of this kind of attitude like hey let me show you. I'm working with social. Media can be huge for them so they are influencers. I was saying I said Real Estate. Yeah but I meant like in like an insurance broker like somebody that sells like fidelity fidelity fidelity is one of them like one of them. Were like hey do you WanNa get insurance on your why God. This is super exciting. I can't wait to read through the four hundred pages of documentation to be able to get my wife covered right that I didn't realize they can be because it can you know it's like the glitz in the Glam it still runs fund still under the umbrella like lifestyle and hey making money because I just sold this house and eighty thousand dollars and jumping my Ferrari Harry and drink some champagne you know do some crazy stuff while I'm driving. So yeah I mean that's still fits into that realm of lifestyle of like you know. Keep it sexy it's using actuarial tables are maybe slightly more bland. You're going to bring that up. That is super hot. I mean that's like don't get your blood flow like that man. I'm Jay I look at one of those instagrams I was like. I gotta get off off this from. My wife comes in the room. That's that's bringing the fire right there now moving forward you have a new show show. I do podcast scary. How there you go Nina? RSS Feed and anyone can do it. Anybody Geez is just give them when we just don't want to deal with it actually. That's one of those. You know the whole thing where you take the same statement. It's either good news or bad news since the same sentence. Yeah Oh yeah yeah. The good news is that anybody he can start a podcast and the bad news is anybody has started. It's like watching Fox and CNN. And it's like the same story but you're like this is two very different views but it's the same statement event but anyways who now one thing I noticed someone asks this is your show is named Shane. Barker's marketing mad and Christopher just for Lockheed I just brought up earlier his show was Christopher lockhead follow your different anyhow house Lockheed on marketing now as a marketer marketer. I'm curious this deliberate. Move that you're putting your name and then the name of the podcast there versus. Why isn't it just marketing madness with the author being shamed Barker I so there is so? That's that's actually a phenomenal question. I ll did put my name in their branding so I did want people to know that it is my podcast castes. So it's not you know marketing man by Shane. Burke Shane Burke's marketing madness. PODCAST in the way we did do that for branding purposes and we also put my big face with my big go red beard on there for marketing purposes as well and we've gotten some good and the reason why so I'll tell you it's a funny story so originally was Gonna be called content that converts because I wanted wanted to talk about whether it be videos or sales or whatever anything that you develop online whether it be pictures or video and how you convert that into sales. The only problem was as I really want to stop myself from like interviewing maybe influencers or entrepreneurs or celebrities and it the way that it changed was I had a girl on Julia Eliya McCoy from xpress writers. And so we were. I had these questions and you know some of the questions and we're kind of talking kind of tell me you know. Thanks for having on podcast for asking some questions that I'm asking where she grew up in some stuff like that and she kind of looks at me and she goes what I know why you're asking me these questions and and I haven't told a lot of people I don't know how you know about it. But she goes yes I I was in a cult for for for nineteen years I said I'm sorry coming in. And she says while I was in a cult that was in a cult for nineteen eighteen years. And she's I'm judging from your questions like that's why you're asking my upbringing. Which one by the way that it's gone? Now I guess they got their defunct or something called the crypts. That ring a bell the crypts rips. No I'm not sure I. I had a cult expert on the show. Russ sue you or cult expert marketing and Colt and leaving her out there on the continuum January and they really there's so much Clo- Cross each other at so many times No in so I was like no I didn't like I literally didn't know. Oh that you're in a cult because I'm writing a book about. I thought maybe somebody had told you and I was like no. I was just asking about your upbringing. You and I was like valid questions so at that point I was like screw content. Let's talk about your cold. I WanNa Kinda like dig deep and then I started thinking. Okay here I am doing this podcast. And then I'm GonNa have some guys in black van pull up and it'd be super number like. Hey okay. Sorry about what I said and I was just kidding. I like cold are awesome just not joined too many this month and if I can pass maybe I'll do it next month or something. But she was like seriously recently so the long story short. She was doing get a freelancer. She was doing freelance work English writer in the US. She was also saying to be a nurse she she had a client her and her client was on skype call and he says hey. Listen like you're kind of a weird deal. She started talking about her upbringing. Things she was going on and then her friend the nursing academy whatever ever said. Hey I think you're in a weird situation like they won't let you do this and you can't do this and you can't wear this and then win-drought person. I think you might be Colt. Well this guy said the same thing and she goes why I really don't know but maybe started kind of like that moment. Long story short two weeks later. She's like Hey I'm gonNA leave the guy that was on the skype calls a you can stay at my house. I'm like I wasn't super creepy. Like you can leave the call to go with the guy that you met from..

Today's stories actually pretty insane in the membrane. I'm so excited. I've told Liz anything about it. Usually she gets like a a little outline of it right not said a word about it because I want full reaction on this one and I even asked for details. Chan said no not now homey call me so. I'm just as curious as you guys are he. I'm so excited. Let's jump in so I didn't really know how exactly exactly I wanted to start this one so I'm just GonNa Start by introducing you to the entire cast. I okay now mind you all of the ages that I'm about to tell you are at the time that this case occurred okay. I'M PAT I up. We've got my girl Jim Barker okay. She's nineteen in your old female from Staines Surrey in the UK. She is very important character. Which is why this episode is titled Her Name? Don't forget it got it barker. Jim Jim Jim Jim Jim but not really okay foreshadow then we have Jessica Sayers. She's a fifteen year old female from Surrey. We have also got a girl who who is unnamed because she was too young in this case she was sixteen year old and she never chose to like have her name released K.. Okay so through this case. We're going to name her unnamed. Okay Jessica an unnamed okay. So we've got jemma Jessica an unnamed and they were all all friends okay. They hung out. They had sleepovers. They did the friend thing. They may be watched movies. I don't really know it didn't say any articles bottom line. They knew each other pretty well. Next up we have Aaron Lampard a sixteen year old boy who dated a named and he is described as being being confident and Chatty with a tragic family background he would regularly talked both Jessica an unnamed in group conversations on the phone Luke Jones is our next guy. We've got jemma Jessica unnamed Aaron an an Luke with me so far so far got it. Okay we have four more characters to go and I promise. This isn't going to get an easier to fall. No I know I'm going to try my hardest. Okay so next is Conor McCormack. Connor was Jessica's because I love and was also sixteen years old now Jessica and connor got together because connor was there as a shoulder to cry Orion when Jessica and Luke split up. Connor is described as kind of a pretty kid regularly wearing skinny jeans and checked shirts. He was quiet and shy and he hit his hair and face under a beanie hat and Hoodie next to the stage. We bring you Andy. Wendy McCormack who has conner's twin brother. Obviously making him sixteen years old as well. That's not confusing at all. No we've got Andy conor okay. Twins from birth. Then we have connors female school. Fred Jess just just not Jessica Jess Jess Ballet. Who is also sixteen? She was described as very kind and and seemed genuinely care for Connor as a friend as a friend. And finally we have Mr Harry Sinclair another school pal of Connor. He has been described as obnoxious. Which who doesn't have one of those friends? MRI totally anyways. We'll get more to him later. Okay I think I'm following perfect perfect okay. Now we've met all the players. I let me tell you what went down. So as I said before unnamed Erin or a thing soulmates forever and all that that fun stuff chaotic Jessica and Luke dated briefly before Luca groped her and she decided Nah Homey that ankle and checked out and of that relationship but luckily for her luke's friend Connor would swoop in and become just. Because I love. That's exactly how it went Jessica. And Connor started their relationship in January of twenty ten now connor who claim to suffer from Alopicia also known as the hair loss condition. Totally heard of it. Yes would always show up for their dates with like hats and and hoodies and all that stuff with the goal of covering his face a little bit which is a speech one hundred percent Four months into their relationship Jessica understandably was upset that Connor never really showed his face.

We're talking about Clive Barker. So we've got to very local not just east coast local local to Richmond Beers that we're gonNA be sipping on the first one up is a garden. Grow was was nice enough to give us a sample of their delicious. It's a hell style German lager. It's called give them hells and it's tasty this. We're good for this time of year where it's not super cold yet. But it's got a little bit of a little bit of a cold in the air. And according to them this is a the hell's is just just a classic German lager in this era of American craft beers being super focused on rudy and hazy as pastry stoute's it seems most people forget about what just plain gold good beer is when you stop and if you take a look at their boards you'll find one one. Ip because we gotta pay the bills and they prefer to focus on ninety percent of other beer styles seems most other brewers around have forgotten about so IPA's covered. Nobody's lacking in this town so they're making sure they're getting just good quality. Woody beer beer flavored beer and this is great. Not It's Goddamn refreshing based solely on that description. I already love them already because they understand my feelings on and this beers fucking banging. That's a delicious. Just it's a good old fashioned yellow allo beer beer. I've had some guests got the tiniest notice sweetness to it on your too much. Other tagline is their houses the everyday logger. We should all be drinking. Yes but it goes really gotta make the face on the DERP multi-phase I'm not making the squinty hop face. It's like this is just. I could take that. That whole like rouser snorkeling very dangerously Drinkable Cola. Kuala norcal the growl now he sure I mean. I think you're capable of them capable. I don't want you to have you ever seen me snort. Yes I'm sure it has but this is something. I'm definitely going to be revisiting and perfect for Clive. Barker being creator of hellraiser give them hells seems like like an appropriate response. Also German style. So as in pinhead was originally eight German soldier Z.. British bef the show so he was British ship. Three you're not paying attention to hell raiser three no okay. Nazi German shoulder now acts I Germany. He acts much like Goth kids. He picked up German later in life. Oh well well done a big thanks to garden grove for that That share this is delicious. Thank you guys are you now lowdown you're able to procure a little bit of a sample as well when we we drinking on here drinking with another East Coast local beer. Here we got one from Hollywood. I can't imagine not writing and and then stopping to have a real quick like just you know what I'm saying because it was so roddick anyway. I thought this was a good shot for it and we do want to have sex with this this beer. It's fucking balls. This is not a beer that your relationship. This is a beer that you have like nasty dirty sex in a motel room with it leaves you broken leaves you you broken still up here. I'm going to have a relationship. You'RE GONNA have a relationship with it years from now you're GONNA be like. Why did I do that? I don't know why I did that. It's so it's an imprio- milk stout with toasted coconut Madagascar of another bean and almond flavor and is a comes in and a weapon ten percent so it is also a Dick Kicker. Absolutely yeah this. This is a beer. I'm going to tell my grandkids about sticking my balls in God it actually got me buzzed. Really Fast Yeah. We'll ten percent will do that. Also finished pretty quick it was delicious delicious. I know I'm just saying Jefferson Bill. That's you know that's why we have like ten percent. I need something that I can just like session through through for the rest of the episode and not as I haven't chugged this beer. I'm looking at my glass and even the glass likes the beer gained. Yeah the glass like it's on Mash and I'm GonNa go home and tell them this is about that she's been mentioning. Get any doubt on our our scale for Forbear as the ABC Austin missed volume scale of one to ten. So where would you rate these beers nine nine for both there We're here with no nine nine nine nine okay. All right I'd give I'd go with eight and a half to nine for both of because ends of the spectrum spectrum and both sitting out to do yeah. They're both very amazing what they're trying to do. and which is why. I'm not with nine only because I haven't like you know salt my pants yet. Hannah's assault my pain. If you have a Jack late Denison Tin. I'm going to give it a ten. I'm just going to say that. I don't drink as much as I used to but I was younger and this did did for me. What three or four younger shots did for me way back when they got me buzz faster than most beers? Here's usually say ten because I I don't drink as much these days. I don't want to have to drink so much. He says three or four shots yeager back in the day talking about the rocks days down talking elephant more than five years ago. I mean not on the Russia though rucks their main street. Yeah we're yeah settlement type. Oh that was I was a seven yeager. Shot Guy Back in those days. Oh seven yeager shots and I was. I was really where I wanted to be and at the end of the night I was good to go home. Drive home. Fair enough Nowadays I I'm older. I don't drink nearly as much but I still want to get a happy buzz. That's why I gave this one a high. Yeah you also don't work cloven hooves anymore anymore. No no calm down. A little still am astounded by. Just how Rad Richmond's peercy says these are two did two different breweries that have two very different approaches to beer making but neither one of them doing a bad job at all and are hurting business either like got time. I mean we neither one of them. They're always packed. Even though g guys that legend like they they were been listening. What the seventy S? There's still chugging out beers and there's still busy as shit and this love have good absolutely me going back and forth between the two beers tonight. There's been amazing loving. I'm loving bay balance each other beautifully. This first one. What did you say it was The Gills give them hells yeah. It's so it's so it. It's so refreshing. Yeah it really chills me out from the intense buzz of the one. I'm having a blast when brother worked with the kind of a hell raiser pleasure and pain Kennedy bouncing what is yeah. We're we're we're just killing it. I man this is great. Now you've got a little little. Yeah I've got another one the share if you guys want something. I might take a SIP. That's just kind of a track. I've got four. These paid off the noise acre sip and passing around a little little SWIG here also in Virginia local. This is from Winchester Sida works. I've been CIDER kick end of summer. This is called on the same. Like sex chair. No this is called Ginga. You've been all in all the sex. It is a nice ginger cider from winchester side or its main Virginia. I've already drank about three out of four. And they're in pint cans. Yeah so they're doing pretty tasty. Yeah it's not too sweet. It's not ought to champagne. It's got a good flavor to it without being overpowered ginger spicy or sweet or dry. Yeah yeah that was so good. I had to take a second set. Because I'll tell you the the level of ginger you're not going to get the spice off the ginger. But you're going to get that just GonNa get that little bit to let you know there and then it goes into a mildly bidder. Kickin your ass with the bouncing all three. I'm living Virginia anywhere. Yeah but you need that because citre. It's it's already a later flavor if you if you put in too much ginger that's all you would taste at that point. 'cause ginger so strong that that's fucking good. I love all all the shares are really dazed by accident. Total wine over here. Nice nice to see if they have anyone else in snakes them all right so that is what we're drinking now onto the part where we make fools out of ourselves more so than say. Yeah we do an after last hour and fifteen minutes avenue. I'm already little buzz. Forty five minutes. Whatever we're talking about making a drunken scene irking drunken see I remember I went up? We have is a night breed from nineteen ninety. This is a two-parter also of the two of you WanNa do night breed. We've got a victim and Dr Philip K decker. I will say I'm a huge of all the barker movies out there. The biggest fan of you want call out who I want. Don't guess I'll I'll be a victim just another victim page in and And so low down to you..

"I think the best progression could've made if they'd have done like a similar thing. One to flopped hard you know well and initially. They weren't designed to like the in his initial writing they weren't he didn't make them to be like angels or demons or have morals. They were designed as a moral agents of just sem and and this bizarre weird line between pain and pleasure and fucking and murder and all that shit and it really wasn't until it kind of took off after the first movie in the first verse Hell Heart these like art will put some background. They weren't intended to be the front and center of this franchise. Until everyone's like wait. I WanNa know more about that guy. Yeah Yeah I'm with you on that. I was a big fan of how ambiguous they were in the first movie when when he says the box you opened it we came. And that's the answer to that. I mean that was the all the bacteria and that was fantastic because it left so much open that yes they couldn't leave it that far open in the sequel but for the first movie all it does. Is it really. Wet Your taste for you. Need to know more but they left this perfect amount saying that. Yes if you screw at the box you're going to get sent abides. which I guess I kind kind of wanted to do it? A pole with people just around the world then just say so. Would you want to play with the box and I would you like. How do you not like if you have it would you? Who would wouldn't if I if I if I heard? I had some kind of disease if I had some kind of like if I had cancer answer or something and I knew the end was nigh. I get the box because I'm not GONNA die for. I'm knocking die from some disease. Die Said yes. Yeah I do I start shit at the DMV. Do I play with his EXCU. So as one of those things. It wasn't really intended for that. But he also intense didn't WanNa make it like just in their shitty horror slasher. He wanted this character despite the Intel Shit about him to to seem even the the bleakest moment of. There's there's not just murder here it's like. There's a thought process going on that. You don't know what that box going on. I kind of would like to see how razor movie where somebody gets a hold the puzzle box that really freaks out center bites like they're not into it like Marilyn Manson gets the puzzle box need it opens it up and they're like oh no not you again come here to SAS home awesome European had. It's like no shirt off put by the person out of the box back. No it's cool. We're GONNA go now I've been to that bar. Yeah now I think I agree with you and I think adding onto that. That's the reason why we had one and two that was it was so so different from like you said you didn't want another slash. She wanted to create this world and then to explain the world because in three. We don't want to go into the world. Much we get this backstory for pinhead and then we get the random goofiness goofiness starts but also wanted to one was written and directed by Barker as into was just. He was just part of writing team not direct to. He was one of the writing team three different as a producer producer. I mean I get it. It's by they'll have input but it's not like you're on wanting to move on by the time we get to nine he's like butthole Freddie movies kind of accept wes craven at the end and just like no no no. Let me let me finish the thought. We'll bring this you back son. And then he did his name also Because Yeah and actually if you go back to forget which episode it was Hobbit but when we do the Doug Bradley interview you and I actually asked him about that was like you basically filled hell raiser one two and night breed in sequence so they were kind of like in their own. The Barcode bought leg studio radio in the UK and that's kind of where they filmed like two and night breed and they became production studio production company. First Time and He I'd ask them about like what was that like. And we talked about being being a family and that's why the the flow of the movies like when he goes to two. And you're going tonight. Those movies flow very well. They're very well told because they've David that's a third movie they've been making. It was like the course of like seven years. They've been working together nonstop basically and they were also like bff's from high school. Yeah Yeah Yeah. So I would suggest listening to the interview with With Doug Bradley. It's really insightful. Goes more than just the hellraiser stuff talks about like the music music stuff. It wasn't their CDs stories reassort with Doug Bradley's doing now like a lot of what he's doing now is he's doing audio books and he and he loves. He's a huge advocate OPPO. And he's done a lot of post stories where you can you know so if you if you're a fan of all your books he liked spooky looking up it's called Spine chillers. And he's the one reason I I and he's does lovecraft. I mean I'm sure he's GonNa have. He's doing a series of audiobooks. She's eventually going to move into lovecraft. I'm assuming you might have already because I was like two years ago. I'm going to find and yeah. Yeah sponge now with hellraiser was it three that everybody broke off from it. Because that's kind of argued four was shot at five. I have them for the sake of completion is sure but I I did one two three and four alien versus Predator even though I have no reason into own that movie but at least it's not permit theus I yelled at the house. It's only once you see Covenant True Fair like I punched out at five and a half mall. Then you get nine which is as as many people have seen the movements. The great value hellraiser. It'll be and the reason. That movie is so Shitty is dimension had to make it to keep the license alive. They didn't WanNa make it but the license was going to expire buyer. So they made this movie. Called ash can film. It was only ever made two key license alive. They showed it in one theater for one day only and it went straight to DVD. It's absolute trash but the line on. It said from the mind of Clive Barker and someone asked him about it and I actually. I wouldn't found this tweet just because it was hilarious. He got fucking mad about it and he said I WANNA put on record the flick out there using the word hell raisers no fucking child of mine. I have nothing to do with the fucking thing if they claim. It's from the mind of Clive Barker. It's a lie it's not even from my butthole. That is amazing. died revelations in judgment at the same time with that same dude and the kicker was when they got to judgement that people like well. It's closer to the source material. But it's still trash movie to watch But it's literally only existed assisted so they can keep the license of not lose the rights to make this movie over and over again and as I understand. Now they're working on a reboot and they're also working on a TV series. He's at some point because he was talking about doing a reboot of how razor himself for the longest time right and Doug probably won't come back until there's a good script. Yeah now I do you know the the the the time that the rumors going around about them doing acts reboot and so we're talking like two three years ago at awfully that panel we saw in Hong Kong. This was not won't say when we got the I got the we got interview on. It was like a year or two before but Bradley shape. Said like no one's called me. I don't know nothing about anything to do with with Clive. Or anything about a hell raiser anything coming out so from pinhead he's got. This was never something that has been brought to me. Our those actually a thing. That was actually going to happen. I was trying to say like if you guys guys guys closest to the source for that although there have been times that actors and N- directors and stuff will go. Yeah I don't know I don't know anything about it like four years ago weeks later. There's an announcement or something. Yeah it's painful when a series gets stretched stretched out until there's just nothing you could possibly enjoy about it and and then when you watch the original again then you're then you're really sad that it went on for that many movies. It's kind of what this might be opinion but the saw films there are like Alcott for the first one was fantastic was incredible incredible movie and then they started you know they kept making them. Because there's money behind that but like in the case of hellraiser. I did watch bloodline which number that is like seven or eight whatever hellraiser in space and all these these these they really stretch something out to the point where there is nothing left You know that did when they beat the I think it was. I think it was four or five when he was in space before but I feel like it was four because I think when I saw that it put in the vein of the other movies like celebrity four was in space four with and they made available credit for being as starring. Fuck Angela Basset Jason. Movie Space Yeah Edmonds. Baseball Freddie or Mike Myers. They haven't been fucking space yet. But given time once Mike Mike Meyers on Mars once again right once kick ass New sequels end with the Brian the boom house. And all those guys they need something and then some other asshole takes over and starts doing a Shitty job. We'll get fucking Halloween space like this thing is like what was the thing in the nineties where they had to end and fucking space. Everything's here you trick or treat the UK and speaking of terrible movies. That fortunately didn't happen. There was a cancelled thankfully. Hellraiser vs Michael Myers movie. That was gonNA paint. Had versus Mike Myers which fell. That would have been the welfare. Mike Myers uh-huh uh-huh I'm stairs like just murder. He just hasn't done Jason's dome. Sorry Myers doesn't die in the most isn't exactly. Yeah exactly but we're GONNA take our break For the for the mid way through here about some stuff. We're doing in town for October when when we come back. We're going to be going over what we're drinking into a drunken seen so stick around. This is Mike. The hobbit direct from fallout on a Trivia night. Telling you to come here. Every first and third Monday for Trivia Between Eight and ten twenty five cent wings drink specials prizes and tons of really inappropriate trivia..

your bottle it might be yeah swept yes Gandalf uh-huh Clive Barker I want to get into his literature a little bit I stories were has anybody read any barker recently at well not too recently I was but but I remember I read we've world I think I read a had cabal which they adapted into breed yeah I was gonna say the was more of the wor was a mix you know that was like a staple was a mix of the fantasy worked his way back around to I'm sure it's comfort zone is right I feel like everything that was great that he created the thing of of newer of his but you know of the newest like reading one of his novels is fantastic and there's something so beautiful about those figures to all cloak and it had like the the bare chest open and and you the money that it costs that particular figurine right I mean that with the Russian the extra the the the writing the packaging it's like here's this super screen accurate from afar on network sheepish really when they became popular and you can find them in stores a slightly lower rate than if you were to go buy aftermarket and the other really fucking expensive yeah we'll see if we ever get that but we'll see how that goes yeah but up and put in the weapons they're like in a the boxes made for displaying if you don't want to take out of the box Angelou's like we've got the only thing they think they've had for the and you put the eggs in the whole fucking thing or you leave it the fucking oh you're tortured life we asked the alliens avocado I have a couple of their toys and I have the name we had to have to you have to I usually mfn of leaving them in correct what I was GonNa say is actually read the whole heart is short novella basically yeah has like Oh God we've got a book like war and Peace Yeah and we've been the bloodiest thing you've ever fucking red I when I was really getting into horror hardcore and I was probably thirteen fourteen fifteen somewhere around I don't know that that was a whole situation yeah and watch that and I enjoyed it but it is it got on the AH yeah and they ran out of stuff and they're like I don't know you're a bartender oh the fucking line drops a bad ass line yeah eighteen while I'm had like some friend that was in a band or whatever and like the first couple of callers oversaw brought order but it was like this is Kinda neat because it wasn't the same it wasn't the people which was very different even its own three it was it but he was tracking people down killing him and all you gotTa do was fuck I big Fan of I'm happy to say I am I the only one at the table that seen the first one I you jason another one of those movies where the killer just comes and kills you whereas this one I'd never scene because this woman is killing people in the name of love it's love with this guy who's actually an asshole but I mean I'd never seen a movie you go watch it because I actually just watched it yesterday as five an ex like that as yeah what what I did love about a hell raiser as well as that a lot of movies there's a conclusion sorry they didn't give you everything they left it wide open where you so much more of it it just barely getting into it and then how razor to gives you a little bit more he gave you the perspective of them coming into your world in one and introducing you to these the wanted them to come and then they got you got to go into their world and see how they were Abbas add like and you see that that one room they bring them into where the they come out hey there and just to see it from their world you know which was I think the best progression he didn't make them to be like angels or demons or have fucking and murder and all that shit and it really wasn't until it kind of took off after the first until everyone's like wait I wanNA know more about that Guy Yeah I'm with you on that it was the all the bacteria and that was fantastic because it left so much open that yes they couldn't perfect amount saying that yes if you screw at the box you're GONNA get center bites which do you want to play with the box and I would you like how do you not like if you have it would you answer or something and I knew the end was nigh I get the so one of those things it wasn't really intended for that but he also intentionally didn't there's there's not just murder here it's like there's a thought process going on house Oh box opens it up and they're like oh no not you come here to SAS home I've been to that bar yeah now I think agree with you and I think world because then three we don't want to go into the world so much we get this backstory for pinhead and then we get the random goofiness three different as a producer producer I mean I get it it's in West Craven at the end and just like non non let me let me finish the thought I'm GonNa Bring this back son you and I actually asked him about that was like you basically filmed Hillary's are one two and night breed in sequence a production studio production company for short time and he I'd ask them about like what David That's a third movie they've been making it was like the course of like seven years they've been working together nonstop insightful goes more "Grow no and talk about like the amount of sad boy in that movie is fucking credible palatable in there and I didn't realize just how fucking angsty that movie is. Oh Yeah as is like an actually like in a good mood not depressed adult and and she's us like this is hard to watch because my mother is the word for God in the House of children everywhere and it's like fuck you wasn't this yet but it's very much feels Po. Like in yeah. It was pretty Po. Like yeah the Raven. Yeah but but then it moving forward with like instead of a more of a direct coming off of pose whole admission style. He created him. He created a whole for multiple people that came after him. That followed suit right. But you have people that took that and they also did a harder dilution Lucien of of that withhold torment and the whole Aspect to that I feel like Barker was a huge one to do that. You know he really diverted her. Yes and what in that. Same poll transition. It seems like most of horror builds on itself so po did something. He's probably inspired by people before him. But but you know I'm a big lovecraft. lovecraft was a big fan of pro. And so you go there there and you keep going. You Got People like Stephen King and then Stephen King Hey quite barker seem to follow right behind Stephen Camp. So yeah it's A. It's an evolution. Well and with the Clive Barker to PLO. You got the the the gruesome that that's a sad tragic person but he also kind also started the body or angle of two which then led us to Kronenbourg. Yeah you know everything from there but the body audie horrid thing really started with a lot of Clive Barker stop talking eighty seven hellraiser. I mean well yeah exactly. That's that's my point and then you go into like baby and just mentioned. Where are you got? How bills on himself by Barker also built off? Lovecraft me look at nightmare. I mean he literally is going into that whole fantasy monster cosmic kind of entity. I mean. I've read broad racks wrecks. That was definitely more on the goofy end of it. I did and he wasn't super without that came out. Because he's like I. This was is not what I intended. This monster looks like a giant Venus kind of very phallic the monster looks like a molly hatchet cover. He's burgling barbarian close. Just looks like a Mongoloid. Do that listens to Molly agit that. Yeah so it's like a molly hatchet Mangadang. Yeah oh I did get a chance to watch. had wrecked the first time since I was a teenager stupid Bonzo absolutely priceless and precious and that twenty seventeen is a is a battery mass. They added a bunch of whatever speech they could find from it. Basically that era thing was air that put narrow video better blues studio one of Blue Underground or whatever you want around underground. They do some good stuff yet riot yet. Those movies as much as they aren't able to hold up to some like later classics it's like Hell raiser and candyman. It's still nice to see where the prison comes from kind of eat the evolution from the beginning to like the more current stuff and like his other news about the same time period is like almost impossible finer. I've had trouble finding it and you don't find something weird shift. It was rigid called underworld. And I can't find anywhere underworld. It was about eighty seven eighty nine right around that area. there's another title for it depending on you know. US versus UK. I can't find it and it was also one of those. Who is he was he was about the same time? It's like Thinking about what I wanted to fuck that movie. He does that about a lot of his movies. Yeah I I just recently Going looking at all his movies and listening to how he talks about them he hates Tele Razor always talking about all these will end. He also said that about Night that he did the director's cut because he just did not like the younger redid. Some stuff in it though. I didn't notice a ton of difference when when the directors got came out a little bit. I'm with you on that I. I Love Nightmare. That's of all the Clive Barker is my number one Even above hellraiser tonight breed is my favorite and I do want to talk about the community and feeling like outsiders society that really comes into play the breed and kind of where he gets a lot of information from. But we're GONNA get into that as we get moving forward with this episode tonight light. We are talking about the legendary writer director artist. Clive Barker has brought it nightmares to screen and to To literature for us is to foil over since I think his first books came out in like the sixties or seventies. I WANNA say like the books of blood I think we're at his short stories. came out of wild back and he's been just kind of going ever since producing stuff and He was a producer on Gods and monsters. Movie of James About James Wale he's an icon of horror for and he's made video games which we are going to get into as well and he's got his hands in horror all over the place and has really helped mold it to where it is today. So we're excited to bring him as as an icon of horror this year for geeks. The employees upset one seventy five clive barker woke up. Yeah Doc Bradley. I'm not excuses basis. I'm coming to you. I will your so Clive Barker. We've done Wes Craven. We've done Jorge Romero do junk region. John Carpenter Yeah. We're doing Clive Barker. So we're getting all the big what's considered the slashers. Although I wouldn't really gets lumped in hell raiser isn't really a slasher so love bargains is on his own fucking thing man like fantasy or existential essential. DSM fantasy that you have to put a lot of things in there to try to describe this point. We've got left is toby. Hooper and Stuart Gordon. Pretty much which I know. You'RE GONNA WANNA be Gordon but something of having to add things together to try to describe something that would go as well for which was nice enough to let us use their song. Sir I author album firmament. They're doing a mini tour at the end of October October. Thirty first enrichment in a gallery five the first of November philly advantage point second in Washington. DC slash run fourth in Pittsburgh at baby land. The fifth in Ann Arbor Michigan Michigan at the low fiber the six in Huntington West Virginia at the V club and back in Richmond on the seventh of November at Richmond Music Hall. That old school like like angsty angry eighties goth kind of style too much appreciated. There's not a lot of doing that kind of thing anymore. And I want to know how that's GONNA on a hand go over in Huntington West Virginia. I've been there. I don't know how it's going to be taken in Huntington West. Virginia there's going to be upset. Is that people with Banjos and overalls. I'm just saying also for those. That don't know Richmond. He Music Hall is also called Capitol Hill House. Yes yes. It's a shitload the beer because they do have a shitload of beer and that's also my first painless on my right. I believe is that where the next Synthetic nightmare show wiz yes. That's what December December first synthetic nightmare is going to be playing at Capitol Hill House opening. Geno tortures Nice. Yeah Nice Yeah so weird venue for progenitor truce. I think yeah I mean. I've seen some some bands. I saw Dick Dale their hand. Say say again his face. The Ribbon Bayton Peyton pays mayor. Hal Yep that was awesome stage with an with an awesome amount of space as in front of it as totally separate from the actual Capitol Hill House. So that's why they gave it. Its own name December. I yes and You enough this is Fabienne How's leasing up synthetic nightmare? You're nice enough last year to let us use a synthetic song for our intros into Halloween so much appreciated associated. That was to get spooky stuff for Halloween speaking of that. Show all probably also be there as papa again most likely. Yeah Yeah Yeah. That's Agua Po- If anybody's unfamiliar L. Kuopio The sleepytime disaster eight memory serves. That's correct. Yeah that's a gorilla suit do we You know I think we're good. Pairing with Jennifer torture is because we have an insane stage so embarrassed is also quite. There's is insane but also very naughty. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah a little bit. Not He's an understatement. But yeah you might could see a titty Mike okay. You might see a whole lot more. The gentleman that just talked about is one of our regular panelists that That is very very familiar with Clive Barker. So very welcome guest here. We've got the breaker of levels. The Unicorn is here. I don't even know what you're doing this. I was pointing to the other day while I was was a updating. My server sure if when you message me like I just thought the other Clive Barker. I didn't know if you had seen that on the list. Or you're just suggesting jesting an idea suggesting because I was like I was downloading some stuff. Legally of course guys yes make sure my my server was up to date based on a DVD collection. For those listening from the government's. But I I was like Oh wide completely wouldn't share that we were looking for people took mention for LGBT icons in movies and keep them. I completely forgot to pop that into the list for you and I hope that didn't get missed and we're doing an episode. I believe we mentioned Clive Barker. We didn't yeah okay because that is one thing that's actually kind of refreshing that back as early as the late. The eighties early nineties. He was out and Gary comfortable. They aren't comfortably out wide open about it. Just not not out to friends like just like that. What's happening suck? Yeah just Italy you mean you. Don't I don't care if you WanNa talk about how that kind of informs his Historians telling as well because I see a lot of common themes of being an outsider. Feeling kind of like kind of attacked by society kind of kind of parallels that they go and do stuff. I mean. That's pretty much the whole of Night breed was they were different and therefore they were outsiders and when the little girl showed her of Boone's girlfriend's girlfriend's name In you see them being beheaded and just murked for being different so total outsider perspective. Right there I mean you know they I can go across. The board is just for anybody any ever been anything different at all. We also see it with with a candy man and stuff where it's not necessarily about like anything that could be a parallel into the Lgbtq community but just being outside or you look at other people that are also for one way or another and you can identify to a degree with their strife so candyman being both both a terrifying monster and also tragic character. You feel for the monster and one of the things that I thought was huge for Clive Barker in particular when I was is picking up the apparatus one of his books I remember looking at the back flipping through and in his biography section. How I found out he was homosexual? So when it said he lives with his his his husband and Blah Blah Blah like. Oh Clive Barker's homosexual okay and but the way it was presented to me I took it in as just oh okay. That's new data and he's he didn't try to hide anything he always seems seems very comfortable with himself and who who is and his art I think shines more as a result of him being who he is it was very and it's never been an issue it was very much put a as as a as an and also yes. I love that I enjoyed that too. And it's one of the reasons why of those those those folks is. My favorites has been Clive Barker and Rob Alford yet the same reasons. It was also this but it was very subversive for years until it was like wait. It's been in there but no one's bothered to like put a big shining light around. Well it's not like hey guys look over here at this is Maury with rob. How for you know no one ever put a big but it was also like Duh when he you know it was just like Oh?.

"Your identity, then decisions become very simple, and they don't involve willpower because it's already defined for you. And so if you think about the context to sales, if you do have a certain expectation terms number of calls, we're gonna make for week and your haven't been making those, you know. You know, just by saying, hey, I don't miss quota. I don't not make my calls two hours every day. So on it's pretty powerful for you. It's just not option. No. And that, and that's the thing is, and that's why we see so often, especially with Pab, it's that that consistency. And momentum are often the most critical components early on his just a BJ fog who does a lot of research. It's end furred on that talks about that where he says tiny. Yeah. Exactly. His critical thing is minimum viable effort. You know, you wanna start flushing your teeth fine. Everyday floss one tooth. In 'cause 'cause it sounds silly. But it's it's so little that you can't say I don't have time. You can't say too busy. But it develops the consistency of the habit and going from one tooth to tooth to your whole mouth is a lot easier than going from zero to whole mouth. So the consistency. Have it? It's consistent. Yeah. And building consistency with critical thing. I think it's two things it's the consistency. But also is this whole concept that? I don't know if you follow bike racing at all. But because it was the manager of the sky team the tour to France has theory calls the aggregation of marginal gains, right? So same thing. One day. I mean floss tooth is better than flooding. Not right lossing twos better than one. So each days, adding, you know, one percent effort better to it. And that's our I think is a very valuable way for people look at things just get just a little bit better everyday. Oh, yeah. Is just, you know, making those those little improvements, and you know, I think that's that that consistency that momentum. That's why it's like once you when you've when you've been when you've been dieting, you know, seven days, it's very easy to do to do the eighth day. You know, but it's hard. It's very hard to start. But once you've got the momentum behind you. You know, it's like you look at like look like alcoholics anonymous, you know, it's like people just focus on the next day. You know, it's it's very easy to keep up that you don't wanna lose that. It's almost like video game. You get your score up high. Enough. You don't wanna lose those points. So that that consistency that momentum. Once you get that on your side. You know, it's it's a lot easier to objects in motion tend to stay motion and say arrest, right? Well, sales physics social psychology on one day. Great. So Eric we've run a time. But appreciate your joining me, and how can people find out more about you or connect with you.
