"Dewey thinks gonna happen for the Preakness because one reporters and Barclay Tagg would rather wait till the breeder's cup. But you do have a month between the Derby this year and Preakness. Right, But you had a month between the Derby and the ah, between the Travers and the Derby. And that was the, uh, I think one of the shortest turnarounds this horse that had so and he's He's been really constant training. He didn't get a break because he was all set for the Derby back. I made the second It didn't happen, but they kept clicking along with him with regular works. Leading upto when the Belmont ended up being rescheduled. And then the Travers and now the Derby has had a long, hard campaign. And I think you know, from Barclay Tagg standpoint, he'd like to give him a break on, just freshen them a little bit and train him straight into the breederscup. If they want to go to the breeder's Cup, I would think if they go to the Preakness Oh, that'd be a lot to continue the hammer on him. I think and expect him again running the breeder's cup, so I think he's kind of by my way of looking at it. He's almost saying to them look Take what you want. You want to run in the Preakness, and that's the end of the year. Or do you want to go for the Breeder's Cup classic? Because if you do we need to Train the source into the race and freshen them up a little bit. That was kind of my read on on on where they're at and the others. There's time to decide in the next week or two as to where they're just as to what they're going to do. Do we think that our collector as a chance to run the Preakness of injury was not. That's too there. That's Yeah, That's what they've been saying that it was not me. It was just a ah, minor thing, but they had to treat him, uh, you know, with with some medication, and it was the kind of medication where you can't treat a horse close to a race, But you know if that had happened A week earlier would acquired a system and it had been good to go for the Derby. So if you look at it from the standpoint of the Preakness, which is still four weeks away, you assuming there's no hick up along the way, he he and King Guillermo both our horses who Just had ill time setbacks and are very possible for the for the Preakness Stakes as AH horse they missed a guide who won the Jim Dandy at Saratoga yesterday. So we look back at the beginning of the year when Kiss a law on the Florida Derby, And then in March, the virus came and everything kind of no one knew what was gonna happen. But somehow everything got together. And here we are. We've gotten two legs of the Triple Crown. We had two Travers. The half school on Harry. It's alway. Everything worked out. Yeah, It's obviously a lot of ducking and diving. It's been a most unusual year. But you know, these big major races have still been run. Not when they're usually run. But Like you said. Racing's been ableto come up with a plan to race safely with either no fans are limited fans and to continue to have these big events and you know it would have been. I think a riel stat situation if they couldn't have run the Derby at all, and it's unfortunately it was postponed for four months. But at least it was run and hopefully things can progress it in a better and smarter way over the next eight months regarding the pandemic, and we could run the Derby when it usually is run on the first Saturday in May and one night, I think Sam is if you're wrong about the Derby. You know you get bragging rights for a year, right if you if you take the Derby winner This year. If you're wrong, you only have to wait eight months instead of 12 to try again. Yeah, was interesting as we will wrap it up with the Preakness. One month after that will be at the breeder's Cup. Exactly. That's what I'm going back to what we were talking about with the law. I think that's one of the reasons that you know Barclay Tagg is reluctant right now to run in the Preakness is because They just ran, ran a mile and a quarter of the Travers a month later. My own a quarter in the Derby a month later, you know, a mile and 3/16 Preakness And then a month after that, um, I got a quarter of the Derby. That's a lot for a horse has been training all year. Um, So that's you know, there's there's a big race is coming up. And I think that, uh They're well spaced. But if you've had a hard campaign all year at some point, you need to take a break. And I think that's That's what Barkley saying, You know, maybe get another race out of them. This year, you wanted to be the Preakness of the Breeder's Cup classic. This was not a normal Kentucky derby for you because you didn't go to the Derby ordered you watch the Derby. In my living room. I actually was. Ah, sorry to write. You know, Marty Maggie, who works for us in Kentucky, was going to write the main story of that's having done that for a number of years. A lot of work once it's over because you want interview that jockey and trainer and some of the losers as well. And then put that all in a story. So the whole space on the racing form website they have somebody right? A quick five or six paragraph story just to hold stays there with the essentials. Who won What the winner pay, who was the winning jockey? How many times they won the Derby who was with trainer How many times he won the Derby? To a 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Who are the owners? Just those just some essential things like that. And so I had to do that. In addition to having written a couple of steaks, three caps on the undercard earlier, so I watched the race at home on wrote that it was very strange into the Kentucky Derby from 1982 is my first job right out of college. I went And through last year, so 38 narrow, So it was a very different feeling to watch it on television. But for me personally, I I know it was the right thing to do Tow to not go Ah this year and you know, hopefully I'll make it 39 out of 40 next day. So if you had to interview the owners of Of doing O r so authentic. I have 4600 owners in a syndicate of selling shares Smalls investment of $219 or something. Yeah. I mean, that would be a way in his dealings, his AA group that he put together a course here for me with Mr Hughes when he was here in California. Right now..

Can any long shots stun Tiz The Law at Ky. Derby?

"All right. Jody Delhi is going to give us the odds on the Kentucky Derby race. Of course we've heard about is the law. Everybody's liked his. The law is the law. Well, there are other horses in the race. Right, Jody? That's right. Says the law is 45. This is current odds right now. They just opened the windows this morning. Ah, 25 minutes ago. This is current odds. Tis a law fortified. And then there is a pretty good distance between him and the next horses. And the next course is there's actually a pretty good distance of who are a pretty good racer. Who's the second choice right now. It would be Santa Anita Derby winner Honor AP at 8 to 1 Authentic, though, is 9 to 1. That's Bob Baffert horse who won the Haskell Tendo one Bob Baffert horse 1000 words Who won the shared beliefs. So you've got those horses? Ahh, right there. All four vying for second choice in the Derby. Let's run from the inside, post position out. We'll give you all of the odds here. A CZ. We go through it finish the fierce. The number one horse, The one eyed gilding has been scratched. He is not running in the race number two Max player, Ricardo Santana Jr. The jockey, Steve asked. Musa is the trainer Max player. Is down. 18 Toe one. He was a morning line. 30 to 1. He's back. He's been bet. Pretty good. So far enforceable. Adam. The skits of the jockey Mark Cassie is the trainer 23 to 1 down a little bit from 30 to 1 in the morning line. Storm. The court who was the breeder's Cup juvenile champion last year, Julien Les Peru is the jockey Peter Kurten is the trainer 26 to 1, Major fed James Graham and Greg fully 34 to 1. They were 50 to 1 in the morning line. Number six. King Guillermo has been scratched. Money moves. This is the one that is interesting to me. Money moves from Todd Pletcher, making just his fourth career start. Was a 32 1 in the morning line and is getting bet. Heavy. Todd Pletcher's Horse Down 15 to 1 South Bend. I don't think all the Notre Dame Ah money has come in yet on South Been 34 to 1, Tyler Gaffney, Leone and Belmont trainer. Mr Big News. Gabriel Sias trainer Brett Calhoun 47 to 1 number 10,000 words as we said 10 to 1. Number 11 Necker Island, who, by the way will have his blinkers off, so he's been running with blinkers on in his last few races. He will not wear blinkers today 51 to 1 Miguel Mania and Chris Hartman is the trainer. Soul a Valon Day. Patrick being cone Lucas Panici is the jockey Volonte 29 to 1 attachment, Right, Dale? Romans 49 the one I thought that he would actually get a bet down. I'm a little surprised that that one winning surprise winning impression is no surprise. He is 52 to 1, the longest shot on the board. Dallas Stuart and Joe Rocco. In the irons, New York traffic 15 to 1, Paco Lopez and Saffy Joseph is Ah Ah, actually, I think he's gonna end up being like the third or fourth choice when it's all said and done. Probably a little bit of a buzz horse here out here among the horseman Honore P. 8 to 1 in the 16 post position with Mike Smith. John Sheriff's is the trainer. Tis the law 4 to 5, Manny Franco and Barclay Tagg. An authentic on the outside Bob Baffert 9 to 1 John Velazquez in the iron, So there's your Kentucky Derby odds for right now and again betting is open. And we've got a bunch of our hot We have 30 minutes to the first post 31 minutes right now to the first post long time before we get to the Kentucky Derby, So a lot of money will be bet on there, Terry.

"Beat up on the boys, so it's it's it adds to the sportsmanship the competition. We're GONNA talk to Neil Tomorrow. Because of course not only did he have this mayor getting up in the grade one but one that came back so smashing LII in the Wilshire and She's sort of the. Kind of in that the same mold as You know as this year's three year old. Likes like a sweet Melania and a and a decorated invader twin that. As, she pleased. Under Flavian Pratt. On on Saturday, looking for always fun to get Neil as they call them, let's get to the Belmont Joe. The ACA is us, and you gotTA. Follow Joe. J., BIANCA TEDIUM AND I'll send out links to both the written piece. We referenced that the beginning of the conversation with Joe as well as the video that was so beautifully done. Joe Tis the law. We just talked to Barclay me preceded you, and this is such a nice story for all the all the right reasons. Oh, yeah, one hundred percent it was it really was like a fairytale ending for variety of reasons first of all obviously the new. York bred thing one hundred thirty eight years in New York bread, and won the Belmont after all that. New York's been through for the last couple of months that was a storybook finish but also you know the the unfinished business for Barclay and for ACA Toga now the first year that I followed. Followed, racing was two thousand and three and funny side was you know really spoke to me as a underdog as a as a gutsy? Yelping is a New York Brad like he just was so easy to root for, and you know that really kind of got me hooked on racing that that Derby and preakness around and I was I was heartbroken and I think a lot of people were when he was beaten in the Belmont. And it was, it was It was unfortunate. Obviously, it was a terrific performance by empire maker but I. Think a lot of people latched onto. That horse was kind of similar smarty Jones the year after where it was just you know the the devastation. Thinking you're going to see a triple crown for such a likable horse have been having it. Be Over in two and a half minutes so I thought it was great for them that they kind of got that. They completed the triple crown. You know what however many years seventeen years later. That was a great story and he's just he's. He's a super likable horse. Manny Franco's super likable jockey, maybe the first jockey with braces. To win triple. Racing!.

Bo some years back. there's always it always seems like there's a star in the waiting on these dating races on these travers Belmont Day under car. We hadn't been had any real big days in New York for for a long time there, so I own anytime. You see a big like that like pletcher. Chat Brown putting a horse first time out in on a maiden undercard race. You gotta you gotTa think them real seriously, and that was. That was another race where you know. Junior at the top of the stretch kind of was just looking around, and and really had a handful of horse, and it seemed like it was over at that point. Yeah, that's that's you gotta look for going forward, but. It's just great to see these. These horses kind of unveiled on the Big Day undercard again because that's always a defining feature of any time you got the marquee. In New Yorker, or Churchill or anywhere. Well and and that's. That's one of my my buddy felling I. that's one of our handicapping. Maxims big days, big owners, and the you know when you get when you get those kinds of days. Their Day freak this day Cetera New York days the anywhere. barreds most prominent parts. Yeah, they're not. They're not. GonNa Start Horse that that's going to embarrass an owner a big owner. Invariably. You look down The Ramsey operation was was. Was a good example I, mean you go to go to Derby Day or or Derby? Week and Friday or Saturday. If there was some you know, there was some Ramsey maiden. WAS SHOWING UP Yeah. Chances are they're going to give Ken that chance that you know. Walk into the winners circle sweet. And it was a good weekend for American. Pharaoh speaking about stallions Joe I referenced with the Nick Luck earlier. Cafe Farrow's performance in Japan and looks like he's got that Japan slot. Wrapped up for for the Derby. The Colt that was bred by Paul Papa, and then here was the American Pharaoh Philly continuing her string of of good performances and starts her three year with a win wire-to-wire in the wonder again. Yeah, the Nice Nice race off the bench but quite as impressive I thought as three old male races decorating invader, but she's you know he's had more seasoning so far this year, and so she's got. She's probably got forward to go the rest of the year, but yet to the American Farah point it's it's interesting because he kinda. Kinda can't miss. Because obviously, it was a triple crown winner, and he got so many great great one winning mayors, somebody's.

Let's continue to walk through the card and because I. DO WANNA get the? Races. We haven't discussed yet even this morning and takes a couple of days. on these big weekends to. Wade through everything and I referenced Indian Pride With Anti Buyer. And her her figure She's obviously A. Horse to watch going forward then came decorated invader, and we'll get to Chris Claremont, tomorrow or Wednesday, because this is, this is probably the the leader in the clubhouse of the three year old surfers. Definitely and you know. He showed a new dimension I think that's. That's the big thing. Is You know so many times? These deep closer they can just be so dependent on pace and it. Just you know especially in like a one turn mile race like that's that's not the case. That's not the place you want to be in and there wasn't that much speed on speed on paper so i. I think you gotta give them a lot of credit to Joe Rosario, but you got to give a lot of credits at the horse to because he kind of put himself in the race. And you know there's so many times where these horses have speed that they just don't show, and you just gotTa let them roll. You know I see so many times especially, these turf races in New York. Jockey dragging back these horses and I just always think the horse knows better than you. In most cases, the horse knows better than you. How Masters? They need to go so I. Just I hate when Jackie's fight their horses until your wealth credit. He let them roll, but You in the in a faceless one turn mile like that you gotta be close, and he was sweet through that that inside opening at the top of the stretch, which was pretty brave. Just just dominated the that field, so for sure I think he's got to be considered a lead contender for the for the big turf races for three year. Olds not as not as pack of a calendar this year, but still is going to be good opportunities for him and for West Point. Now that he's shown that track ability that he doesn't pack to just rely on a a sizzling pace in front him I think you gotta think this guy's the limits for him and and going forward, and how about declaration of war you know. heard any side ever had this little items for grasses and Robin strings pulse time and often times I had to call to put somebody else and so forth and then she stayed ooh and this is the same way I grew up in but jumps to my in and out of the spin off him and so turns out of out of that him every day since I've been fortunate with that because I have another swell it certainly seems like it's a it's paying off and some thoughts about going back to Churchill with him for the for the Jockey Club breeders cup because he came back and you know they still and I couldn't see any sense of kind of just say squeezing lemon that's where I had to pick a race out that would give in palm building Spend enough and the answer sends really and that those severe about something that I would in humans and after the California track yet either so I just said I'm not I'm not knocking tackling and yours can break down on any track anytime hostile fractures can happen so much the mission go there and and I just started to stay close and Kentucky's rate Karan but that way but could you swim trips and every seven on their when they're on the head of the money would if you could pass and the distance right now and everything that's got around to taxes the building so but it was some cocoa Oklahoma you know there's a lot there's a lot of Barrett to taking this approach and having you know having the long term the long term goals in mind with his the law and there's a lot a lot to be excited about and another great one win for you and the by the way Tony Tony just sent me a note it was Sherbrooke who who he was a dead heat for that gwynn represents has changed look nicer yet is that right and the other getting paid uh-huh into several other attorneys with them punish sadness and very good and sound in that in that you know we went first time that's the one that's brought him up and you want correct and John has been very good well I'm going to look up that's that's that's funny I before I talk about some other horses because you've had a great year and you've got some interesting runners that I want to ask about it occurs to me talking about that era and going back a little bit and with some Maryland overlap you had to have had a relationship with any blanks whole ball all and good sense is is everyone picking goal you know I it's funny that you use that you described in that way because I sent out a tweet when I saw the the The obituary and I I said the exact same thing I said no matter where he went he one and you know people think New England guy but the he won in New York he won in the mid Atlantic I it didn't that was he would have won wherever he went all of that's whatever everybody everybody talks about him holding court racing offices and alibi down by fences and him kind of being a little bit of a ringmaster whoa I kept her pension after dinner that after dinner and and check game who turned suddenly dropped ten knocked this that and the care you love it I love it Barclay the ask you about About the highland sky sibling give us give us a feel for after now to starts highland glory the two year old filly and of course you trained Christie with a k. the mom and this is a full to highland sky and I was just fifty thirty years now I've been very fortunate to have the full to the inside he's he's a very well built and we have a lot of high school that I haven't seen anything yet but there's been anything wrong even when we got the good renison because he will Little slow on the wrong that alleged good very good conformation more well how long how long did it take for highland skied to break his maiden see is slow I don't remember remember I love it I love it well the other got a handful of state runners right now thinking about realm and of course for Nanna tried the flower bowl on Saturday Auden Virginia and very nice people to couldn't answer Virginia and one that would easily and Mrs back is GonNa be impounded that kind of stuff about ten for are absolute concerns for quite do that but there's a lot that goes anyway we'll see you gotTa Energy I've never never had the energy was mad and then which is just the sound of the bell could be nice to have in the way that race was the way that race was run to when when a horse goes out and sets that artificial tastes is yeah sometimes it's hard for the rest of the jocks the to evaluate when they're supposed to move into that into that setup along well although you're making it look easy with the at this cult a couple of other horses I gotta catch up with tale of silence of course out of the Kelso and I wouldn't even with windfall marketplace's the reports and we didn't and the equipment and I thought Auto Budapest and those step in both of them wanted so and I really don't quite into a little bit lucky them all well and talking Taylor Mikati in Jersey Down The wall twice twice in three years there's going back earlier ten it's gotta be now it's Tele coty that's gotta be at least in years ago so all town a little less but well and the other one you've got a so a maiden that I saw last week that has been trying it's an older maiden Kelly can run that Philly Cairo Prince Phillip I liked it a lot I wanNA keep on the parts and the developing no more on the the run on the excellent and what about what's next for Ramadan right and and finally kind of a personal favourite Dr Edgar on because I'm on number there who's patting wrongdoing raw and as the the lead Tabuchi legalzoom prevent a nicer the brand new enters the past couldn't be nice I love it that's the can't zones bro Oh nice beaten that was cancel well Barclay it's been a good year it got a lot better Saturday and there's still a lot of exciting the things add obviously just very pleased for you and and all the partners Jack Knowlton and the Saka Toga team it's a new set of aces from from fifteen years ago with funny cide but certainly you and Robin her are the same faces and the two you donate Ah put put pictures of you today next to the one from from two thousand and three and they won't be able to tell which is which Oh that's not true you look at you say from the from the first time I ever saw in the Atika Saratoga in the eighties it's always Barclay well done congratulations when Robin and everybody Hong we always treat parkway tag everybody and Tis the law who that was like a slow moving train Tis the law right after the after the maiden win we kept bringing them up and bringing them up edifact said that on Tuesday Mike we're waiting for the law when's he gonNA run run on the hopeful run in the New York bred race run in the champagne this was like slow pitch softball coming in well it's very good year for Barclay in fact let me I'm GonNa pull up let me see I'm not wrong by the way Barkley Barkley tag looks the exact same that he has for for years he has one point three almost one point four million earnings and win wise eleven wins from eighty-seven starts and that's not an unusual number in the last few years sixteen twelve here for Barclay and it's could get much better between this weekend Cigar Mile and Kentucky Jockey Club next month for Tis the law let's break we come back we've got visits with Seth Merrin come in and rich hang and and more who did we miss we we missed connected with Brad we miss connected with Brad Cox "I different area than where I live in Jersey and he takes the Turnpike took from now on you know he and he used ninety five all those years it's your class act and you ride or that was dead and in a in a running horses path you did get out of the way it was you know you went through the Mahler's Buoy Laurel out and the person's got a little bit better you rode horses who to on on a particular race day or the way it's shown you in two months after breeze got it is and guys have just and you know you really probably this you're more so than any really will have to adjust because there's been so many changes out there when it comes to the racing surface adept as a cushion the bumper cushion that you play play cover over the limestone base and you know and and then you're cushions over top of that and consistency of cushion have more sand in more red glide what's the consistency of that going cushion at what's the death well you can go to be tuned in to that and of course you know what training horses jockeys Rainer is a network of people I'm sure she'll go hey you know so and so whoever may be you know what's going on out there shipping awards out Comores is out there you know keep an eye on them if I'm not there every day and tell me what you think of the dragon how I will have to adjust because these guys networks of mutually respected other train we're jockeys included everyone saw jockeys know what they're talking and I don't eat you bring up an interesting element of this and some people went out early like Steve Asmussen is is sending them out steadily in advance shook talked about it with us the other day day after he made the decision to run and I asked him about these adult hill ship and on top of the race and as he explained he's he said the learned years ago you either you either go make the trip and get out their way in front of a race or right on top and he said right on top and then you're either you know you're either going to the surface or not but how quickly how quickly do you as a writer especially in that circumstance when you know you're you're going somewhere to run that is not the the whole track or the home circuit How quickly do you know that the horse is not going to get over a surface brotherly down the bad side when you've written or you know few times and you know how he is when it comes to leaving the gate and on the bid when you if it's going like three quarter mile race by the time you get to the three as Foale you've got an indication you know all of a sudden you know maybe he does have a nice snubbed as a bit maybe he fumbled a little bit you know practice breaking away from the he's going into the three a's wall and you can look at it you know xeres any prick conflict and back and forth really struggling you can see mentally struggling and sometimes you can feel physically because of the way he is one off a bit in the early stages after three mile you know you'll you'll see if see Navy is going to run his best race and then you sometimes you get into military hope this on surprises editor lane over to his right leave at the dinner on his Lafley whatever he's been struggling along I hope money talks over to his right he he Russian has some on that but you're hoping for that you're not knowing there and other times you've ridden a horse same Morris on track and you had him and you had him in hand all the way down the backside you creeped up a little position around the turn or wherever you out a little space and you knew when he had lane he's GonNa explode and you know when you're gonNA distance ground with a lot of horses you know they go they leave the gate you want him to leave the gate going long go into the first turn comfortably come out of the first during comfortable and then go down the backside with horse and positions you know you try to get that position in the early stages of the race leaving the gate around the first turn sometimes that's junkies don't always have to danced pay attention when they leave the gate you know isn't it great if you left the gate and your horses running down the stretch going long go long and he's on his right lady POPs odors left around the turn comes down to the backside on his right lead also needed to create comes up to stretch you on this really isn't that ideal well how about if you leave the gate gonna lead league you know he rightly whatever the and you're trying to concentrate on going into that first let's say the races amounts Vermont if you WANNA go into that first turning there's jockeys or John Jostling for position around you you are TNN on what lead to some gone what you're TNN on my honest versus heels in front is the outside was gonna drop in can I did around these be just to the outside tactical position behind just to the outside of these two horses in front of me without this horse that's four wide coming over and making me catch your you're looking for -sition not what need that or so and horses run around the turn maybe not as a negotiated vertically or most comfortably but I love gay on Israeli foreign long went around it turn on his right league because you jostling for position you know he was comfortable enough on the to keep his momentum the one that Riley jockeys around you would think for position I worried about what Levi's on I'm worried about not clipping heels and and being in a comfortable tactical position if that's what I'm looking for then okay we straighten out down the backside and say you know he's on his right along let's switch over to his Lafley the next one the need to be on his lap league like in fresh up the right so you get around there if he's more rational his left leg you know what does he's run most of the race on Israeli you're leaving monod left lead up this wreck verses runs straight just as fast on either Lee is just that they can negotiate a turn more easily on their lengthy I don't always looking for that turn and easily negotiating it you're looking for position and you're getting jostled around and that's why sometimes leads as much as you'd like to have the ideal situation it doesn't always occur absolutely no no absolutely absolutely right in the race it Tony Not it's not always picture perfect ideal well and Tony I I'm Gonna I'm GonNa pull up for here because I've got Barclay tag is gonNA is GonNa join us and how many how many wins you ride for Barclay back when I got the picture hanging you may Barkley we win a steak with Barkley it's it's Tony Black he's he's asking about a stake winner he wrote for you in nineteen seventy four or five in nineteen seventy four your Heart the Keystone Barkley the Tony thanks all well I guess they were studying pictures righted by hallway attic ourselves with a few months Tony let me let me get Barclay while I got a window we'll put you on hold all right took right oh I love it Tony Black Tony you hang on their let me talk to Barkley Barkley had occurred to me you know with Tony on the line that he had to want some races for you back went all available I love it Tony they should take Tony off so I can I can get a clear shot with with Barclay here we go all right Barclay Congratulations Tis the law there was a lot got to look forward to and boy did he impress excited all right is that a call coming into you Barkley Wall over since I answered the phone if you come on all local all right now actually sound you sound a little better talk about his development Barclay because you had a little bit of a Shin issue after the maiden win hadn't been issue always put him in to make them in the race at all but it was still for I just set rebel taking and we had never come back yeah that's for sure and you know when when he came let's let's go back to the origins with him earlier in the summer how quickly did you realize how much talent this one had Eh that we talk about it right off the bat after we ran into one time we report showing that a national pay that way you can do what they're looking at and you had the advantage of the opportunity to run them in New York Bread Company of course right off the debut and you know six and a half six and a half and seven when when they break their maiden those kinds of distances barclay that's usually a sign that the that the chance that and that they've got called easily to fix the head with like that and stay with me and we've got an exciting pain that worked at least he's in New York well and stretching to the mile was there any apprehension the you know he's a constitution in he's out of it is now mayor he's got plenty of pedigree for for routes of ground all involved the problem with Apollo gives you worry about so call now and and you know you you did you did give him the full five weeks how quickly between recorded works after the after the win Ed how quickly did he get back to the track did he miss any time at all after the win there and put it at career and family in fact attacking the throat traveling and the time is coming out of the same after a week or so the Second Temple Robin I think you know I'd love for you to take a minute unexplained to explain to people they don't you know they they hear the expression is particularly with young horses about the Shindig inspections explain how that presents itself to a trainer and and how you know that that there's issues Lee Down Parton shinbones is very important in the ankles the middle thank you and we think and the venue hands down the center of the Mexican feel a little little little raising in the what there's is often people don't bring land over the center of sin with another the little thin layer of skin like the perennial playoff team and then drawing or stress uh God knows what maybe puffy and clean something to sell a lot of ways you can get some shots breath of landing and this is a very small and just on one leg and we thought we take it from there and hope it never came back so far too much what is it Eh Tony what is it Barklay about the the young horse and in their development that because we don't hear about Shin issues with horses they get a little older why is it that the that the juvenile's present with the with Xinzhou's MHM horses are all a little bit interesting people I've been and it was people taking all seven can't again that's older they get stranded and used to shop and and hitting the ground sued the causes it and they just get this banks get used to it they get off of that then you know just like kids some of the and all the agent that is wrong some fun on everybody a little bit different that on the houses that that it's not a real thing you could pass go you're treated for you don't usually have any troubles that anymore wow and it's a great it's a great analogy to about the young athletes ah the development carb and it's one of the reasons that and a lot of the public doesn't seem to understand that it's one of the reasons that it's important to put stress on young horses because it toughens those bones the more exercise and the more stress yes that is brought on them that gets them that much tougher and their entire you know their entire physical makeup is asked by that early development it's an added people kind of we call it hot as you know there's all kinds leper very that kind of stuff but I like the one that I haven't heard about getting on a train permanent race I can turn back as much as ten to the one of the authors in developing themselves doc developing themselves really and they have since I've been exercising you've got to let the phones have a terrorist Oh well this was this was a very impressive follow up to the maiden win for Tis the law and then obviously Barkley it's going to be how prepared are you for all the funny side comparisons all Dan Dixie time to get into this because he wasn't a thirty five points and the best seven per along the mall ever any business myself and as a out over a year they tweet random on acquitted but that's right that's right I couldn't convince anybody well this one this one you know in in the Sakha Togo colors and right away the decision made to bypass leaders cup and to head for the Kentucky Jockey Club before we before we talk about what's ahead I do WANNA go back for a second the funny side because if you remember we talked and you explained about tinkering with him and the mouth issues changing the bit on something gentler that that made all the difference and I I hope that some of those stories you know get get told again because the horsemanship that was "Tony Good Morning I caught part of the show have been driving home I got leave guide on six this morning I mean the word good job yeah I'll tell you one thing that ninety five almost one survey ca quit using ninety five my husband works parks and he lives in Yeah I'm not doing it anymore if it ain't a traffic jam it someone's like someone's got one driving doctor called the accident and believe it or not it ain't me driving like ninety five when they only used to have one bridge crossing into that area and that was the Komi Almira rich then they built the betsy Ross Bridge I used to go to liberty valve that way little surprised that you miss going there live to the races from where you're coming from because ninety five is definitely a message Yeah I just coming up from center city and we were shocked at that was the one o'clock in the afternoon and bumper-to-bumper we sat there for like took us like an extra I don't know almost an extra at least twenty twenty five minutes then it should have come in from mm center city but Tony Guy got to ask you because you certainly overlapped with vinny blanks and I'm wondering I thought began to ask because you know his time in Maryland and the mid Atlantic after You know he he gravitated down from New England and I had a feeling you might have written a few winners form you know he was Kinda Guy Shift towards if he was at Suffolk is just a man to wherever he might WanNa raise that particular individual the one something that everyone always start or felt about any bland was yours is randomly was competitive and it was a well respected worsening whether table itself a down rocking am whether he came to Berlin a some time periods where she adores into Keystone Philadelphia Park the usually shift in and it was a competitive spot for this to be I can't remember any one particular horse I know I wrote a horse and two for him but you know what when you ride for different people and you're not stable we're there at a lot of times it's source that you ride you don't relate so much to being the drain or knowing Ainhoa you might know him by name or he'd be shipping in but I'm not very many jobs that did rights it wasn't always get Carl Gander Dalo and you know your top doing writers he's shift in and he named writers were doing I'm good enough to meet his expectation but he was a class act from everybody's remembering him and you know what there's a kind of guys chose maybe not you guys like me you're getting and there's been two years and the other names that were prominent when you were in heyday career Mike yeah the they'll never be forgotten yeah no matter what they were doing and re in years they won't be forgotten for what they accomplished in the years that they participating participated in the great sport of racing. yeah then of course I mentioned this morning one of the overnight pieces of news was the passing of of Chili Sherwood Killingsworth Out West and ninety three and and ninety and it's there's there's certain certain stories certain moments with you lose people like this that are probably gone forever over a some degree I mean the oral history what's what's amazing is how the the oral histories come pouring out about you know about guys and I I was very happy to have gory Smith on on on the news of these passing but I've also subsequently been hearing the stories from Winfrey even Gary Young Gary Young chimed in with a with a note on my facebook page after the show the other day and he was talking about how would video flags told you to bet a horse You went you went and got all the money anybody owed you because because it was a signal to the you know that you were we got healthy you know what those guys they had a a remarkable way of getting a horse ready and knowing one's the performance was just around the corner and of course you know when you raised it some of these you know the minor racetrack thank you know you weren't always stabling New Yorkers major race in California part of your livelihood maybe didn't depend on but your livelihood was supplemented by being able to know when or she was going to run its peak powerful race and you as the trainer jockey for trainer the opportunity to that issue shuttle and take some cash money from the window you know I remember medication you know we're a joke would be riding and you know they would be really down with the trainers money the owner themselves and they might come up to stretch and maybe you were an obstacle in their path and you buy audio Hey Jack Space Myspace me Jack I got me money that is that a fact and it was only open up it wasn't something that they were asking for you to do something to yours they were just asking for a little room so they could cash tickets keep the train happy oh echo catches tickets and the owner happy so it could cash his tickets and it wasn't on an everyday occurrence it was a common courtesy and it might be repaid somewhere down the line to you by that job for some other jobs but you know it wasn't anything that wasn't above board not as the job take a whole you know my money back it was Gimme some room got no place to go the you told that story that's that's one of my favorite stories years about you know about the you know the odors saying you Tony She's ready in where we're all and make sure you don't get any trouble you know and then you what did you say AH trouble I it wasn't it wasn't a common occurred but it was something that happened and every writer to have is out there that had a you know a horse that was at it is and I say you don't always find yourself in the most advantageous position in the last five sixteenths or three sixteenths or quarter mile of the race and you have to ask someone we give me some room and they gave you something room you never forgot it because you make some trainer and owner and some walk very happy that particular day because as I said you know when you're especially when you tracks were you riding three eight thousand dollars beaten claiming horses were twenty five hundred and three thousand dollars raises Volvo race drag I think the last race they won their well no the race before won the last race I won there was a two thousand dollars that was two thousand twenty five hundred dollars cars and then I wanted to be stake that day it was a steak that they used as a threat to the marlborough nursery and I finished in a dead he would Tony Aga- Nello and we let the big purse of fifteen thousand I mean that was this steak at some of these strikes and that was Marlin raising Marlboro Racetrack and you had twenty five hundred dollar pods now John gets twenty five hundred and it was just you know claiming race twenty five hundred we we raise for a stake races when I was in my hey hey let's say an average was forty five thousand and one of the big ones with the custody of the structures of change of course everybody's expenses that change but they're big courses out there now and Jackie's get you can't owners and trainers to appreciate those purses but then you look at these words sales and you look at the cost of these individuals everything is going up here sure the person's going to live in going up everything around is going up and and really need that money who makes us good women who jockeys families trainers you know and it's a highly competitive this not just highly a physical athletic event highly added that that's important as the physical well and we've talked about it before you know particular league went we when you see I was the call what it is I mean second tier second tier riders at at any track it doesn't even have to be doesn't even have to be an eight track and I've asked you this before I mean how how guys can make a living because you know you see some of the statistics and yeah they're they're working hard in the morning and you know they're they're getting some get some workout fee augment their work in the afternoon but I mean it it is got to be hard and particularly that's a for for a variety reasons whether it's whether it's physical issues taking a toll and writers you know looking kind of on the on the wane and their career or you know guys that are perceived as just not not a a a Goto doc it's gotta be gotta be very hard yeah you know you have out there that are really struggling to make a living and of course all your work in the morning is Grad you go out there you Gallup forces that used to be used to just work horses now you see jocks out there are different racetracks and lobby rates jogging on the wrong way they're galloping them it ain't they're not just going out there working for blown them out for the race so it's a highly competitive deal when it comes to you know jockey and drying generate business and get a new business I make statement you know and care by either a dime a dozen I was a Jock I made me still but you had a diamond dozen you know what there's there's a sense of confidence that riders give writing to certain trainers you know whether they've had long term relationship with them or just say no they're history of that drain or know his reputation and they wanna ride for you know you the same way trainers and owners I wanNA rider that wins races they always get exactly who they want but you just hope your name as jockeys on the list when you were talking about me gay he sources around there's one thing and you hit it right on that she'll go now that any problem adjusting to whatever he feels the racetracks going to be whether it's reader scupper any place he goes and chips you know it'd be has work that he's aiming for specific rates or you know readers got raises or stake races you WANNA drain that according to what he knows that or has to be in the day he runs at that particular travelers between Anita and they have the mindset Oh years over the years well saying Anita's using bad racetrack boop boop and how has it changed because of the circumstances that they were down you know they changed their racetracks well it's no secret and guys like in our up-to-date on that and he'll send Code on or whatever it is any Horsey yes to run it'll be over there in good order you can guarantee that and many of you drainers top ones are just guys that have nice horses aren't considered you know the twin year drainers Tabatha of and all these other names that are out there they they seem to know you know what they're dealing with when they aim horses would major stakes you know whether Kentucky Derby the three you know Valmont those races you on those just got to train your horse according to what you really has to do in Kentucky and you because I have a lot of time to conditioning and changing from preakness Belmont so you train your horse according to where he's doing well what you think the Churchill downs drag is going to be like and you go from there with breeders you know today that you you're gonna be in one of the two of you the day of Friday Saturday and you're going to art the Gloria what do you think Santa Anita is going to be.
