"Denial report news radio 600 Kogo. This is the Gemayel report. The fight continues. Karl Tamayo here. We're counting down the top stories of 2020 focusing on the election during this hour. Let's take a look at Local race for San Diego Mayor something I know about having run for mayor and 2012 Todd Gloria was running against Barbara Bree, both Democrats. And this year, um That neither candidate received my endorsement. They didn't meet the criteria. Barbara came close to it, but just not not close enough. Um, So Todd Gloria was out there. And originally we weren't gonna do too much on this race because we had a no endorsement but position, But then Todd Gloria decided Vote for Senate Bill 1 45. Under this bill. Uh, a Um, Adult as old is 24 years old, can sexually assault a minor as young as 14 years old. And escape the requirement of being placed on the sex offender registry. That's right. SP 1 45 removed the mandatory requirement that individuals who sexually assault minors have to appear on the sex offender registry. Disgusting. It's part of a larger push by sex offender advocates who say that sex offender registries are unfair that we should punish people for crimes, but we shouldn't have them living in an environment of suspicion. Not really. Do you not understand that sex offenders tend to be compulsion driven that it's a repeat of fence environment, and that's why the registry has been very effective at making sure that we constantly monitor these individuals. And keep kids out of harm's way, making sure that no inappropriate situations are happening with these sex offenders. Sex offender registries work. But to glory doesn't seem to care about that. Which is why he supported SP 1 45. Now he created a smoke screen saying that well, the reason why I supported it is, ah, geysers are treated differently. Is right now. Some some straight men are allowed to escape this registry. And so what about other forms that gay men and engagement Huh? That's the cover story. All right. That's his good as it gets my friends, and that is a outrageous that they went with that cover story saying it's about LGBT rights. No, no, no, no, no. If there's someone out there who somehow is able in any way, shape or form when I don't no matter what the act To escape a mandated sex offender registry requirement when they sexually assault someone as young as 14. Let's fix that don't broaden it out and offer additional benefits to sex offenders, depending upon the flavor of the month. Well, we called out to Gloria on this in the campaign. My Super Pac Reform. California did an independent expenditure Tioga against him in the mayor's race, alerting voters to the fact that he voted for SP 1 45 and explaining to them what SP 1 45 actually did. Gloria's response was to scream homophobia. I'm the I'm the victim of a gay attack. Listen in Audio nine. The race for San Diego's mayor is intensifying. Assembly member Tom Gloria says he and his campaign have filed a police report after receiving a serious threat last night. He says his opponent, Council member Barbara Bree, a conservative radio host, Carl DeMaio, are inciting the threats are ABC Tennis reporter Anthony Pereira has reaction from all sides glorious campaign sent us some of the threats they've received. We're not going to show them to you because they contain disturbing images and offensive slurs. SAN Diego mayoral candidate Todd Gloria says It's not unusual for politicians to receive threats. The ones he's received are different. It's about the threat of physical violence on din this age. We just cannot stand for that. I think, particularly given that these threats are being motivated by thinly veiled homophobia, I think is further need to call it out. This week, ABC 10 News reported that Gloria is taking attacks via text message. From conservative radio host Carl DeMaio over Gloria's recent support of SP 1 45. The bill lets a judge decide whether to force someone to register as a sex offender in certain circumstances after having sex with a minor. The bill is meant to end discrimination against LGBT Q individuals. Gloria says DiMaio and his opponent, Barbara Bree, are inciting the violence against him..

"In my mouth. How alright? Just like Cause I mean, so to take you back to last week. My whole premise Wass that support for criminal justice. Ah, and racial equality measures had had spiked in the summer around the protest movement. That was that that followed. And That I thought perhaps That that would have dissipated over time and that maybe this. The support for this measure wouldn't have been as strong as we thought it might have been when it qualified for the ballot. I don't think it's possible to have imagined it getting more than it got here. You know, practically 76% is ah. That's about as good as it's gonna get. You can't get many people 76% of people to agree to just about anything. You can't get 76% of people to agree that That you know. This creates the new Commission on police practices. So it looks like the city of San Diego will have a group of people who will be able to subpoena police officers and conduct their own investigations with their own attorneys. And you know, just the fact that that's in place might have an impact, but also the investigations that produces so and I say that this is a Ah NIU An early thing to watch for the new mayor of San Diego is thie implementation. Of this measure is hiring a director for the new commission on Police practices, making sure they have the budget to do with what what they need to and essentially making sure that what happens that had what happened at the county. Where they already have a commission that does have subpoena power like this one, but they haven't ever really used it, making sure that doesn't happen here, so this is very much an early step in the process, and we'll see how it goes. "Well out in front. Early election results show Assembly member Todd Gloria taking the lead over city Councilwoman Barbara Bree, so happy, But Bree says she's not backing down. She declined an interview Wednesday. But we received a statement saying, in part we know from our experience in the primary when we were way behind on election night that it's not over until it's over. And there are still a lot of ballots to count, so I will reserve judgment. While the remaining ballots are counted. Patient registrar voters count every ballot. But today we are extremely optimistic, and I'll be the next mayor of San Diego. "Gonna be talking about with your neck. Guests joining us on the commoners, live line political consultant John Dady and good to have you back, John. Good morning, So let's start with Barbara Bree and Todd Gloria. Any surprises there? Well, that's very slightly surprised. People thought it was going to be closer. But you know, Tommie jumped on this early running for a long time. Hey, did service in from mayor. So yet he had a pretty good resume, so they're not really not really a big surprise. But one thing I don't think people realize I'm going to make a comparison to when Kevin Fokker when the mayorship this is the eighth largest city, so when falter one As mayor. He came on the national stage, especially for the National Republican Party. That same thing. What happened to Tye Gloria? He will be now the Democratic National Party. Has her eye on him as a member of the clergy city. All right now, let's go to the 50th Congressional district, which, as of now is very close between Darrel Issa and Ammar Campa Najjar. Yeah, again. That was not a big surprise in the sense that we knew what was going to be closed That one never looked like a blowout and again, the conventional wisdom is I've had a lot going for him. In the sense that is conventionally. Ah Red District, where temperatures are clearly both two years ago in this time was doing extremely well as a Democrat. You know, let's talk about now We're going to see a democratic majority on both the City Council and the county Board of Supervisors. What does that mean for San Diego? Well, I think a lot of but for different reasons really quickly, I'll say on the county board. What you're going to see is a change on priority of issues. Clearly, a Democratic majority is going to focus more on things such of social issues on the homeless and that type of thing that they've been frustrated before. At the conservative board in the past has not made those type of things of priority. Here is an interesting point on the city of San Diego part it's not only a majority of looks like a super majority. Eight out of nine will be of the Democratic Party. But here's the interesting thing. The mayor is going to be a Democrat. But that doesn't not necessarily mean that he's going to get his way with the super majority. If that, if the council discreet may on something they have more than enough votes to override any veto, even though he's of the same party All right. So now prop 22 was a pretty resounding Yes, it was aimed, you know, 85 was aimed at uber and lift and this directly addresses and changes what Thie State assembly decided to do with uber and left. Well, I think I think you could read several things in there that this was the original inspiration 85, which mandated that these were supposed to be employees was very controversial, And that's an understatement. So I think these results show that there's a There's a flashback on that. Ah, blow back and I think you might see other People kind. You take a baby five and go after other different things. This was specifically on this industry. But I think it's what do I really reading between the lines? It is showing the frustration of the general public on these type of very onerous laws that the Legislature is passing. Now I will give you a joke and tell you everybody thinks that we were left with the big winners. In this race. $200 million? No, The big one. This was the consultant to get all the TV commercials and direct mail. That's a very good point isn't very usually the lawyers that make all the money off anything anyway? Right? Exactly. Political consultant John Dady and joining us Thank you so much, John. Thank you very much. All right here. "Is the Dome. I'll report with Carl DeMaio and Penrose. The fight continues. All right, so we've got Barbara Bree and Todd Gloria running for San Diego Mayor mayor both Democrats. We just heard from Barbara Bree. Her positive case for why she would like to earn your vote. I urge you not to leave the ballot blank. It's important to make the decision because we may end up with another Bob Filner, and I'll get into that in just a minute. But what do you make of the voice of San Diego's poll that there's this many undecideds? I mean, it's a It's a bizarre pole, and I have a lot of problems with it. But if they're right Could there be 30% undecided and the Democrat on Democrat Race for mayor of San Diego? I think there are a lot of undecideds Mohr so than a traditional Republican vs Democrat race because you do have two Democrats, you have a lot of independents and Republicans are saying Who do I go with you now? Which poison do II decide? Tio Select So I think there are a lot of undecideds in this race. You got Ta Gloria, who's got all the special interest lined up behind him. The labor unions that have screwed our city time and time again have literally raped the taxpayer. In every financial way on left us with bad city services, crappy roads and violated the Citizen's initiative process by suing on the pension reform initiative. All of that stuff Gloria is thick as thieves with these people. And so they've poured money into his campaign's Ah lined his pockets, even big business because they think, Oh, he's he's going to do what we want him to Dio. You know, he's he's. He's an ambitious politicians. So if we give the money, you'll he'll take care of us so big corporations have given him money. In addition to the unions, but where I see him being exactly like Ah, Bob Filner's that Bob Filner was not just wrong on the issues. You know, Glory is wrong on the issues 85. Sexual predators that he's helping them out with SB 1 45. But he also has no integrity. And that's why I asked the question about these mailers. He's literally trying to lie to voters and pretend like the mailers came from Barbara Bree. They look like a positive mailer for Barbara..

"Don't leave the ballot blank in the city of San Diego Mayor's race, You've got to make a tough decision. Gloria or Barbara Bree. Both are Democrats. But Barbara is willing to come on this show and answered tough questions, which we appreciate joining us on the day. My report is Barbara Bree City Council member and candidate for San Diego Mayor Barbara Thanks for stopping by Good afternoon, Karl. Yes, I talked to everybody. Even people will disagree with me. Todd won't go on a U. S. I and war is, you know, I know he's just keeps, you know, shutting the door on people who disagree with them, which you know. Doesn't make a mayor for all. Let's talk real quick about. You know, if you were given was just a one minute elevator pitch with a voter who's undecided as to why they should vote for you. What would you let them know? So I'd say that my first priority is to restore fiscal discipline at City Hall to make sure that we don't do anymore stupid real estate deals like one on one as street that Todd promoted when he was on the City Council. And then I'd say, uh, voters, you should look at the $1.4 million in special interest money, much of it. City labor union money that's going into support. Todd Gloria. Clear the city laid. The largest labor union does not want me sitting across the table negotiating with them. So who do you think will represent your interests? Attacks. Parents Okay, Great. It's Lou Penrose. You mentioned fiscal discipline. That's something that we hear a lot during campaign season..

"Council race in district One hears Coco's Jack Cronin with the special decision. 2020 report. More than half the seats five out of nine are opening up for election this year on the San Diego City Council. This includes District one where Barbara Bree is running for mayor de one covers Carmel Valley, Torrey Pines You TC and LaToya and running to replace Bree are planning veteran and civil engineer Joe LaCava and attorney Wilmore. Both candidates or Democrats. Both support measure E. A city wide vote in the adjacent district to raise the height limit around the sports arena, but they differ on their positions regarding short term vacation. Reynolds Joe LaCava says he does not support for term rentals at all in single family neighborhoods. We have the law on the books. We just need to be able to enforce the law, and that's really a challenge. And let's not make any mistakes when people try to characterize this as a Loy issue at a coastal issue of District one issue, but a fact it actually occurred all through District one, it occurs in many other communities. My first got started on this issue. I was working with somebody from Claremont and somebody else from north part. So it is a much larger issue that affect us across the city. But when I talk, Teo focus now on the phone, instead of knocking at the door for term vacation rentals becomes unimportant talking point for them. They're so frustrated, so tired about the city's inability just enforce the laws that are already on the books on the other side, will more says he supports the compromise that would limit the number but still allow the rentals. I think we absolutely need a deal. Practical deal that gets done to deal with these short term vacation rentals. I've seen these politicians who say Oh, they're legal, just enforce the law. They've been saying that for 34 years now, and it hasn't done anybody any good. It's a great sound bite that doesn't actually help solve any problems. What I want to do is get behind a deal that brings the number of actual vacation rental down by 70% in the city of San Diego, puts in the neighborhoods where they could be more appropriate. Get this regulation and enforcement. So somebody's having a party house next door. Your house, you have a number you can call and get that license cold If it goes on for more than Double time District 11 of five San Diego City Council seats up for grabs over the next few weeks with this decision, 2020 report I'm Jack Cronin. I think you've seen the videos. Another tweet and you'll see him. Uh, shortly, you know, he's back. The fight continues. Karen, We just saw the president get out of marine one walk up the Ah, the flight of stairs to get into the White House. Hey, didn't even go through the ground door. He walked up the stairs. Look perfectly healthy, obviously still dealing with Kovar 19. He waved on, then walked into the blue room of the White House. Again. He didn't need to go up those stairs Lou. He could have walked right into the diplomatic reception room, but he decided to lock up a pretty big instead of set of stairs. Tio walk in through the first floor of the White House rather than the ground floor. So there you go. Well, despite with Whoopi Goldberg thinks it is important that the president of United States demonstrate strength and power and command. S Oh, yeah. In a lot of respects, this is imagery on purpose on DH. Let me let me tell you right now that your retirement of 401 k would not be doing very well, The only photograph we have was President Trump laying in a hospital bed. Exactly So these things matter. Yep. By the way, a cz President Trump is walking. He took off his mask by the way he took off his mask when he got to the top of that first floor. Took his mask off that's going to cause people to just lose their launch. They like their hair on fire. For that he took off his mask. He looked out at the cameras gave two thumbs up. And then Ah, retired in the White House. Uh, by putting his mask back on, So there you go. President Trump is going to absolutely caused people to lose it by the fact that he took off his mask. When he stood On the, um in front of the White House. Ah, again. No one was around him. Then. As you said, Lou, this is absolutely planned. He probably said, Hey, I'm gonna take my mask off and make sure no one's around me. He's out in open air, takes his mask off Bunch of cameras air there. He's standing very tall. He's standing great, Ethan salutes. Marine one. Without a mask. He salutes Marine one. Looking very confident, looking very sharp. And pivots and walks into the White House. This is this is theater. It is theater, but it's important theater. It shows that he is not on his deathbed. That he is bounce. He has bounced back that he's fully capable. He is still dealing with the illness, but he looks like his old self Lou. I mean, it's it's remarks. I don't think enough is being commented on just how resilient this guy is. He's 74 years old. He works day and night. He worked the entire time he was at the hospital on DH for the most part. Now he's just a Going right back to work. I mean from from being admitted on Friday and testing positive to Monday. Here we are. Six o'clock Washington, D C time, and he's headed right back to the Oval Office. Pretty astounding. And let that sink in 74 years old 74 years old. He spent 72 hours in the hospital. He still has treatment Teo to make. But now he's coming back into the White House. And I know people are going to be real upset. He took that mask off. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. He took the mask off. He took the mask off. I'm sure that they have protocols in place that are necessary to protect people on DH. He will, you know, probably be reunited with his first lady and continue his treatment at home on also continue to do the work that he needs to do is president of United States. He also tweeted moments ago. He can't wait to get back on the campaign trail cannot wait. He's he's showing very much of a Reagan asked type. Brand when Reagan was shot, and Reagan, you know, got back from the hospital gave the thumbs up, walked into the White House and Then, you know matter of a few days later, was speaking to a joint session of Congress trying to get his economic package approved. Absolutely. Inspirational. We'll see if they will see if this will end up having the same sort of bounce that Reagan got in his pole approval numbers after his AA tangle with with with well, actually, a near death experience. I mean, it truly is astounding that because even if he had, but the flu Karl if he was coming down with the flu on Friday, you would still feel you know not so great on Monday, and it looks as if he's ready to roll. There's there West Wing staffers half his age that tested positive that will take more time off more time off and and would not look as good.
