"This is the play of the day. Check this out. Morton high right-wing ball on his hip triple threat position gives the lawyers at the top of the key right side to Gillis hill shoot another three. Help make another free. Nice and Guinness 9, three point buckets of the game. That's the Mackie arena record. That's courtesy of learfield sports, Purdue, number one in the country, beats Penn State, Gillis more than doubled his previous career best with 29 points, 9 three pointers, most in the Big Ten, this season. That's your play of the day, brought to you by Mercedes Benz range of SUVs, every member waiting to impress learn more than the USA dot com. Todd uptake the poll results from the first 47 minutes of the program. Fascinating results. I'd rather have a two Academy Awards for best supporting actor, 51%, one Academy Award for best actor 49. Okay. Right down the middle. Thank you, Todd. You're welcome. All right. Yes, pony. I have a Academy Awards quiz briefly if you want to. Which actor, I start with actor. Okay. Which actor, I'm gonna start with actress actually, which actress has the most career Academy Award nominations. It can be for best actor or best supporting act. Meryl Streep. Anyone else want to go off the board off other than Meryl Streep. That's entertainment music? I don't know. Catherine heparin is 12. Balloons. I teach you up there. Bette Davis with ten. Meryl Streep has 21 more than almost double Katherine Hepburn. Here's the thing about Meryl Streep. She's only three for 21 from the field. In nomination, a John Starks of actresses. 21 nominations. I hate to say the phrase only three wins, but it does seem unfair. Well, she got Sophie's choice best actress, the iron lady, and Kramer versus Kramer, who is best supporting actress. That's not a good shooting percentage. It's not fair to Meryl Streep. Where's Glenn close on that list? He doesn't want to be ignored. Thank you. Excuse to drop that. Glenn Close is not in the top 30. Okay. What about, man? I don't think you'll get it. I would say he's modern era. Like if you were using quarterbacks, this guy is from the modern ish era. 60 70s, 80s, 90s. Was his heyday. Lawrence Olivier. No, but he's in the mix. Okay. Yes, more. Jack? Jack, Jack Nicholson. Jack Nicholson. Anyone want to go other fritzi? I don't know. Dustin Hoffman. Did you know the question I asked? I was going to go Robert Redford. Robert Redford is not at all correct. Jack Nicholson 12 nominations. All right. Three wins, a decent one floor of the cuckoo nest as good as it gets in terms of endearment. Okay. Okay, who has the best shooting percentage in Academy Awards here? That means the nominated ones and one ones? No, you had to have multiple. We had to have standards in this game. Okay. Standards and practice. Both of these two people have 6 nominations and won three times thrice. Yes, Martha. Daniel day. Daniel Day-Lewis is correct, Marvin. Marvin's our Hollywood guy. My left foot, no sequel. There will be blood and link. You would have thought they would add my right foot. Right. That's the secret. It writes itself. No secret link in either. That's true. The woman who went three for 6 from the field. Three for 6 from the floor. And all best actress winners. And she is in the modern era, started in the 90s. One of your favorites, Dan. Pam. Now pat, that's my favorite band, man. She won in 96, and then she went 2017 and 2020 best actress. Ritzy? It's not yes mean bleeth. It's not carbon Electra. That's disappointed. Francis mcdormand. Fargo, three billboards outside ebbing, Missouri, and Nomadland just a couple of years ago. Yeah. Tom Hanks is also two for 6 in the field. Yeah? Yeah, morph. It's how makes you back to back? You're back to back one year? Was that big and Gump? Yes, he went 90s cowboys. He went Philadelphia Forrest Gump back to back. Wow. You say big? Yeah, I did. He was unbelievable and big. That's fair. Philadelphia was like Kobe and LeBron playing on the Olympic team. Denzel and Tom Hanks in their prime. What a career turn that was. And Tony O bandaras, it's not working. It's not working. Sorry. I can't find anyone else going back to back. Why must I love you so much? She loved me so much. Rick in California, hi Rick, what's on your mind? Hey guys. Hey. 5, 7, two, ten. So I was thinking about this offer for the young guys versus the old timers and they are in a caprio and what's eating Gilbert grape. Best acting of Leonardo DiCaprio's career is what's eating Gilbert grape. Because I didn't know much about him and he shocked me. Because that was not really, it was Johnny Depp movie, but Leo was so good in what's eating Gilbert grape. He's unbelievable. Tim and Boca, hi Tim, what's on your mind today? Oh man. How you doing, Dan? Love your show. I'm about a month ago, Pauly. You started talking about Bruce Springsteen Springsteen right in the songs for the Ramones, the point of sisters. You guys almost went 20 minutes with it. Chris the imitated Bruce Springsteen dancing and songs, but the moment Marvin brings a pusher. All you guys jump on. The whole time you guys did the Bruce Springsteen thing. He probably didn't say a word. He probably just sat there like my work with the whitest guys ever. He didn't say nothing. But today he brings up usher. You guys threatening to take tomorrow off take 6 days. We make fun of frenchie makes fun of Springsteen. He makes fun of Bob Dylan. We went too far, though, calling out usher them. Yeah. How dare you call out usher? You better not call out Nelly. What else you got, Marvin? It's February. That's what that is. What is usher's biggest song? Yeah? Oh yeah. Yeah. What are the lyrics on that one? Is it just like, yeah. Tomorrow. You can play it today. Very popular song. I remember it. Okay. In this club or something? It looks like he's going to usher with me. In this club. Okay. It doesn't mean we're the whitest guys because I don't know usher. I never said that. That was Tim and bokeh. And I said that your month should be longer than February Marv. You know where I stand on that. Why is it the shortest month? That's a good question. The whitest guys. 28 days, yeah. That's usher would say. Yeah. Why not a longer month?

"Interdicted on international waters. It used to be that a lot of these goods could just travel and open waters and goods were delivered in this way. Of course they are that way all around the world. But the sanctions cut them off. And so instead, Iran and Russia have created a whole new overland trade route, which is not subject to inspection or enforcement by U.S. sanctions. Can you describe that route? They've had this idea for a long time, Russia and Iran. It's something that Iran has been really pushing for. It's always looking to circumvent sanctions and bypass sanctions and specifically U.S. and EU penalties by using different pathways and routes and various different types of disguises to try and foil its trade with countries, particularly countries like China and other countries around the world. And so what they've wanted to do for a long time in Tehran is to link their ports in the Caspian Sea which historically have always been very accessible to Russian markets, obviously. To the Persian Gulf, because the Persian Gulf, as we know, is kind of like it's the choke point for global energy supplies. It's a hugely significant for oil trade, and it's massive, huge importance for Iran's economy, making sure that the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz specifically is open and that Iran has ready access to that and that it can kind of bypass any perceived threats from the U.S. for instance because the U.S. Military obviously has quite a strong presence also in the area and Iran has difficult and tense relationships with its neighbors and has had for the past ten years now. The Russian leader wants to bypass the blockade with the help of new partner countries. Russia's answer is the new north south route from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Azerbaijan, Iran, and to Mumbai. Russia hopes this new route could replace some of its lost trade with the west. The idea is that using a land corridor so going from the northern coast of Iran on the Caspian Sea, karting through the country using railway lines to link effectively these ports to the southern Persian Gulf Coast where they have these major trade terminals like bandar Abbas, which they're using now at the moment and they've used bandaras to pilot this corridor so far and send some goods to Russia, and more recently what they want to try and do is also use the port of chabahar. Chabahar is much closer to Iran's border with Pakistan and so the importance and significance of that. Is that it comes east of the Strait of Hormuz. So if goods come from bandara was they have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, using a port like chabahar as an alternative to bander Abbas, again bypasses that political risk, and it can get goods straight into the Indian Ocean and through to markets into Asia, like India, for instance, China. What's very unique about chabahar is it's exempt for U.S. sanctions. It's speculated that it was originally granted a because the U.S. wants to keep India on sides and was seen as a potentially strategic link to supply U.S. troops in the Afghanistan. Back when they were still there. And whether the sanctions exemption remains or not, is one of those open questions. And this is also quite an expensive venture. What has it cost to expand this trade route so far? The headline number is about $25 billion more or less evenly split in either side. The Russians are spending billions, have committed billions to dredge and expand riverways and Len river ways. That's so bigger and bigger ships are able to pass some of these narrow waterways. Exactly the capacity constraint is the weather, parts of it frees up right now, parts of it are too shallow. So there needs to be significant investment to increase the capacity to make it an internationally competitive with longer roost, the bigger ships comply carrying bigger loads. Do the U.S. and the EU have any way of limiting or enforcing sanctions in this route? With the rail line with the railroad, no, I don't see how they could possibly do that. The Persian Gulf where we've seen how quickly crises can erupt in that waterway, we had it under Trump. We had a effectively a second tanker war. If they choose to then swoop into the Persian Gulf, like a U.S. vessel and wants to circumvent a ship which it suspects, for instance, of carrying maybe some kind of goods from Russia that it's destined to go to China or India that's come by Iran that is sanctioned, then that potentially can happen if they do it in international waters inside the Persian Gulf, but doing that obviously really elevates the kind of risk scenario in the Persian Gulf. I'll continue my conversation with golnar and Jonathan in just a bit. But to understand why Iran and Russia are going to such great lengths to avoid these western sanctions, is worth taking a moment

"And vice versa. Russia can ship goods down the Volga river up the dawn river to rivers and southern Russia that lead into the Caspian Sea, which is shared with Iran. And so it's not just the traditional Russian deliveries of grain and energy flowing down this southern corridor, suddenly now it's also Iranian products that are flowing north because Iran also wants to escape sanctions and so they're signing deals to ship turbines and plastics and of most concern for western policymakers, drones and other weapons that can go over the Caspian Sea into Russia directly without the possibility of being interdicted on international waters. It used to be that a lot of these goods could just travel on open waters and goods were delivered in this way. Of course they are that way all around the world. But the sanctions cut them off. "He says, my fellow Pokémon trainers. The time is upon us. Once again, as a new generation of Pokémon games drop this weekend. For any players looking for new trading hookups or sparring partners, send me a friend request and I'll happily help others catch all. Go. Do that. Gondor's condor needs your support. There's people in China saying, can we pay blessing enough money to play through balance one to roll? And this is what I'll say. All right? I don't play games made by fucking criminals. All right, what do I look like? I'm not going to support white collar crime. God damn. I only support regular crimes. All right? Legalize it. I love it. Everybody. Looking through. Someone else in the chat said Gotham Knights is $40 if people want to jump in. I would say a way for it to be cheaper. Yeah. Bam. Insider trading trading based on dragon quest is fucking insane. You know what I mean? No, it just is. Here we have bandara center who says blessing asked for a sonic prison break game in sonic adventure two, sonic does get arrested and tails and Amy have to break him out. That's why earlier when you're like, it's obvious. I thought that's what you were talking about. Oh, you know what? I guess sonic forces sonic is kind of impressive. And he's being tortured tortured. I fucking love Sonic the Hedgehog. We need to make a freaking, I want a full blessing show of like the most bizarre sonic moments. I thought about making this blessing show, actually. I wanted to do leading up to sonic frontiers. Episode titled, I played every sonic game for this video. You know what's funny? Is me going through every single sonic game and talking about the fucking journey bless this week I was cleaning my downstairs at home. And I just, I throw on YouTube videos like video essays and stuff. I found this video, I say, don't know the man's name. YouTuber does a lot of game history type stuff. He did a video that was I'm going to play through every 3D sonic game in one week. that. And it's like semi real-time as he goes through the videos like 50 minutes. And he's just giving reviews as he's going. He's like, just be sonic adventure. He started with 3D blast. And yeah, it's this one. Thank you. Thank you very much. What's his name Barrett? Sonic heroes. I love sonic heroes. I just had it up. It went away. Is that yakko? Yako CMN. Yeah. Yako CNN loved him. This was a great video, very entertaining time. But it was so funny because yeah, he did it to himself in about ten minutes and he's like, I don't know why I did this. I want to try it because I don't know, man. Sonic is one of those franchises where there's so much nostalgia built into it to where sonic heroes, I'm sure if I played it now, I'd be like, oh man, it's like a 6 out of ten, maybe 7 out of ten if I'm lucky. But I know for a fact that I would still enjoy the experience so much because I played so much of that game when I was a kid. And I think that applies to so much a sonic, but then there are also other sonic games that I've not played. I never played through all of sonic adventure one. I played that game mainly at a cousin's house, and I also played it at a demo kiosk and Best Buy. Wow. I was like, oh, that's cool. But yeah, no, I never played through all of sonic adventure one. It's like to this day, I have, I don't have much fondness for the sonic adventure games, because when I go back to them, I'm like, these games are trash. Terrible. I'm sorry they are. But I go back to something like sonic heroes or sonic unleashed. And I'm like, I really enjoy these games. How much better are they from sonic adventure? I couldn't tell you. I just know I love those. They're radically different, actually. I'm interested in some level of this, 'cause I would be down I love how I'm saying all this after I said that, I would never play one out of 5 games. But I would be down to go through and play with games like sonic and the Black Knight sonic and the other one that was secret ring. Sonic and the secret. Those are fine though. Those games aren't horrible. You can play sonic boom. And I'll play through sonic O 6. I never played through sonic O 6. Yeah. I've only seen the scribes. I've seen the videos. I watch videos. We need to know. We need to how did it get there? How did he kiss that human woman? Let me think and figure out an angle for this, because I think this could be a blessing. Doc prompts to watch it though. Plus, this is one of those weird days where it's like, I don't want to stop talking to you. I just want to hang out. I mean, what do you want to talk about? I'm not going to talk about it. I don't know. We got 5 minutes left that we could spend on the show. Yeah, let's hang out. Let's talk. Yeah. I can't believe it. So wait, you played a little of sonic adventure. Have you beaten sonic adventure two? No. I played. Wow. I played quite a few of the first levels of sonic adventure too, right? Because I remember, because that's one that you could kind of choose where you start based on character. So I remember no? No, no, two's more linear. One, you get to choose one has more like character selection stuff.

"Now I'm going to say something that I'm going to regret immediately. But I saw something in the chat that I saw, so all of you need to hear. Bandara sense says, Jeff grubb raised me, but Nvidia leak is my daddy. That's really good. That's really good. Shout out to wander at for that one. Was FF 6 HD 2D, not already announced or leaked or something? Now. It's just everybody just was trying to will it into existence. Okay, yeah. When I put out the chrome triggers tweet, I could have sworn a lot of people were responding to it being like, oh, it's happening. I have a 6 is happening. Oh, I think it was dragon quest that I'm thinking of. Dragon quest three HD two D is the one that I think is actually happening. They're gonna keep making those things. And you know what, give them all to me, you know? EarthBound, HD two D, I know that's not square, but it's Nintendo, and I'm sure that could happen. I'll be totally down for that. Give me fucking mother three HD 2D. Yeah. They did libel live. Yeah. Which not many people were asking for, and it was dope. People are asking for mother three, give me mother three HTTP. And that's the thing. It's like obviously square is their own thing, so it's like them collaborating would be weird, but it's not unprecedented. We've seen companies collaborate on games before and ways that would surprise you, smash brothers with bandai namco. We got star Fox assault with Capcom. We have Sega with F zero on the GameCube. So it was like, that it could happen, y'all. It could happen. I have a long flight this week, bless, which means I have two long flights. Guess what that means? You hop into the live alive? Oh, I'm live alive in an up baby. Not in the universe. And that's not double hit or Twitter. You're gonna have such a good time on those flights. Let me tell you. That sounds like a great time. Let's hop into story number 7. Microsoft is speeding up your Xbox Series X and S boot time. This is Tom Warren at the verge. Microsoft is speeding up the boot time of the Xbox Series X and S consoles. In the latest Xbox insider test builds of the Xbox dashboard, the cold boot startup time has been reduced by around 5 seconds. Microsoft was able to speed up the boot sequence by creating a shorter boot up animation. Xbox testers noticed a faster buildup time recently and Microsoft confirms the changes on Friday. Josh Muncie, director of Xbox integrated marketing, says the company created quote a shorter boot time animation of about four seconds from the original boot up animation of about 9 seconds, hoping to reduce the overall startup time end quote.

"It just seems like and then chase Sherman, again, that was a good fight. So I don't understand, Sean, this guy, Jared, bandara, who's a good fighter, solid fighter. And you know, I go on his Instagram after he loses, right? He loses to chase Sherman, chase knocks him out in the third. It was probably maybe one to one going to the third, and then it was a good fight. But and everyone's like, people are like, you suck. And then you look at the people that are like 12 years old or ten years old and you're like, fuck you. Who are you to tell these guys sucks? I was bothered by some of it. But then I'm like, one guy said, you know, what's the point of having a black belt if you're not going to take a shot against chase Sherman? And I was like, I actually had a decent point because he stood up the whole fight against chase Sherman and chase Sherman's one weakness has been the ground, and kiss your man is one bare knuckle boxing matches. He's great standing up. I don't understand why he wouldn't. Take it to the ground. I think some guys sometimes, man, when you're in a fight, I was always the opposite way, even when I was dominating, and I felt like I was losing. But I've seen guys get dominated for three rounds and get up, and they literally can not believe they lost a fight. And I'll be like, dude, what do you not believe? The guy whipped your ass the whole time, but some people are delusional like they feel like they're always winning or they're really good at comedy, like job when they're not. They're like, some people are like, they really believe they're better than they are. And I thought he was laying in the harder shots than Sherman hit that jab and he's a good standing up, but man, that job was his job was rough, man. Like, he was landing it. And I think sometimes guys like that just think that they're winning when they're not, I mean, we've all seen the guy after a UFC fight walk away with his hands up. Like, can you believe I lost that fight with the judges? I'm like, dude, it was 30 26 on all three judges. I can't believe it, you know? And sometimes I got to watch it back to believe it, but it could very well be, he thought, and you know it looks different on TV than it feels in person. Some of the hardest punches I took didn't look like anything on TV. And then ones that look like they hurt didn't hurt at all. You know? So he may have not been getting hit as much as it looked like or feeling it like it looked like he did, but man, they went at each other. I'll tell you what they were like rock and suck a robots and they just end up with a fun fight to watch. I mean, if you had a black belt in jiu-jitsu, you got to spend what? How many hours? Years and years and years and years. Unless you go the right coach, they'll sell you one. There's a guy here in Indianapolis that offered to sell me one if I wanted my black belt. Really? Yeah, he said if I were to do ten private training sessions with him and let him corner me in an MMA fight, he would give me my purple and then two months later my Brown and then like 6 months later my black and I didn't have to come class or anything like that. But he was the same coach that I submitted the first time I ever rolled with him when I had never done jiu-jitsu before. Mike and I literally submitted it in my first class, like in front of all his students he really hated it.

So <Speech_Male> while that's technically <Silence> true, I do still think <Speech_Male> that <Speech_Male> the <Speech_Male> idea of what we're saying <Speech_Male> is that Phil, <Speech_Male> Phil <SpeakerChange> understands <Speech_Male> it shouldn't be annually. <Speech_Male> So we're <Speech_Male> saying that Bobby kotick <Speech_Male> suddenly having a come <Speech_Male> to Jesus moment and changing <Speech_Male> the business model that <Speech_Male> he had to <Speech_Male> for over a decade <Speech_Male> now <Speech_Male> shortly after there was <Speech_Male> a change of leadership <Speech_Male> above him. <SpeakerChange> That was a coincidence. <Speech_Male> The <Speech_Male> change of leadership hasn't <Speech_Male> been implemented <Speech_Male> yet. So <Speech_Male> they're just trying to <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> be clear that <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> filled probably <Speech_Male> wasn't directly <Speech_Male> involved with making that decision. <Speech_Male> Definitely wasn't <Speech_Male> involved. <Speech_Male> Illegally can't be <Speech_Male> involved in that yet. <Speech_Male> Well, if <SpeakerChange> it's not legal, <Speech_Male> then I'm sure it didn't happen. <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> I <Speech_Male> fucking love you, <Speech_Male> Gary. "Labor I think will be hoping that Boris Johnson does stay because yes, he has become the levels of unpopularity that trees and Theresa May was at the end of her premiership. But at the same time, we're still possibly two years away from a general election two and a half at the very most. So it is a difficult balance for them to do. This is a man our prime minister is a man who has been sacked from every job he had for lying. Apart from the mayor of London, that's the only one that he wasn't sacked for. He, yes, when he was at the times his first job as a journalist, he made up quotes, essentially lying. That is the highest crime in journalism to do. He was sacked from that. He was sacked from his first cabinet position under the then leader Michael Howard because he lied about an affair that came out. So he is someone and I think what's interesting about this whole episode and the anger at stoked on why his polling personally has plummeted and he's dragged as party down is that we use this expression. I've used it in the studio with you about Boris Johnson that was for a party that for much of its recent times has been a party of family values it claims and it was all about it was all about the kind of family basically and still in the past decade of introducing family tax breaks. It was always very strange that Boris Johnson has a very, let's say, colorful, personal life was so willingly accepted as their leader, and we've had a prime minister even in the time that he's become prime minister. His divorce one, wife, he's married another. He's had yet more children. But what the phrase that was being used was that it was all baked into Boris Johnson. Everyone knew who he was because he'd been on the scene for so long. But I think part of that baking in was, yeah, but he's never going to betray me. Whereas what's happened here, I think the whole country feels like a personal betrayal because it was such a universal experience. You're just hearing dozens and dozens of horrendous stories of people who lost siblings, parents, children, during that first lockdown when the death count was so high who obeyed the rules to the point where they were not by them on their bedsides as they died. They were on the ends of iPhones if they were lucky to them. That's why I think the anger is so strong. Can he survive this? Well, I think you have to look at what the maneuver was. So the Conservative Party is good at getting rid of leaders. They got rid of IDS of Margaret Thatcher. They got rid of David Cameron in the end. They got rid of Theresa May. I think what you have to watch is the runners and riders, and the front two are Liz trus and Rishi sunak. And yesterday, Boris Johnson, after PMQ, went into the tea rooms trying to lobby the ranks, there was a slow drip drip drip of the cabinet coming out supporting him either on the airwaves or via tweets. But the two that I think are most interesting and they were the latest in the day, so you got a Rishi sunak who said and I quote on the tweet, I've been on a visit all day today continuing work on our hashtag plan for jobs as well as meeting MPs discuss the energy situation. The p.m. was right to apologize and I support his request for patients while Sue grey carries out her inquiry. Not exactly a willing endorsement there, is it? He was saying, oh, I've been really busy looking at jobs to have you, which job exactly mister you've been looking at. And then backing the inquiry, so that went out at ten about ten past 8 last night. And then Liz trusts who's the other big runner at the moment at 9 15. The prime minister is delivering for Britain from Brexit to the booster program to the economic growth. I stand behind the prime minister 100% as he takes our country forward. Now there used to be a joke in Westminster that when the prime minister would back someone a 100%, that was normally on day 5 of a scandal and by a day 6 they were gone. So those are the two that are worth watching at the moment. They obviously publicly at the moment are still sounding like they don't feel that he's quite injured enough that they can make their move. They're probably thinking wait until the report comes out and then see what happens and in the meantime try and work MPs and see if you can build enough support if there was to be a runoff leadership election. Vincent, thank you. I'm quite sure we'll be returning to this story. That was Vincent lack of any, and you're listening to the globalist on medical 24. In March last year, China and Iran signed a comprehensive strategic partnership in order to boost economic and political relations. This week, Iran's foreign minister is visiting Beijing to discuss the 25 year cooperation agreement. We'll send him vacuoles the deputy director of the Middle East and North Africa program at chatham House and an expert on Iran and joins me now. Thank you very much for coming on to the global list again. What is the history of the relationship between these two countries Iran and China? Thank you for having me. Well, the relationship between the two go back number of decades. China has been an influential supporter of the Islamic Republic of Iran since the revolution helped Iran with its nuclear program and the two have forged very important economic ties over the years that have helped Iran whether sanctions and pressure from the United States. And can you give us more detail on this strategic partnership? This is a document that was released last year as you mentioned it. It's a 25 year agreement. I see it more as a memorandum of understanding, where both sides would commit to develop stronger economic relations. And I think the number associated with the partnership is 400 billion. But it's important because Iran has been under a very extreme sanctions after U.S. president Donald Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement. And Iran, because of the U.S. withdrawal, has experienced significant sanctions, hasn't been able to export oil at the ability that I would like and China has represented an important trading partner and the document would commit China over a long period of time, 25 years to invest more readily in the Iranian economy, regardless of what happens with the United States or the nuclear agreement. Well, it's interesting that you mentioned the nuclear agreement because of course right now talks between Iran and major powers are ongoing in Vienna. So I mean, given that how significant is the foreign minister's visit. It's significant because China is, again, an important political player for Iran, China is sort of back to the Iranian position. And understands or has empathy towards Iran, particularly after the U.S. withdrawal. But at the same time, China would like to see the Iran nuclear agreement resurrected. And so it has pushed Iran nudge deron forward to make concessions and so China is playing an important supportive role in these negotiations. And in terms of this ministerial visit to Beijing, do we know what's on the agenda? Well, the 25 year partnership, I suppose ironing out the details, which many of them we don't know, the Chinese have committed to opening a consulate on the Persian Gulf and bandara boss and China, I think will be investing in infrastructure projects, which have been important in the past and will be important going forward as the Iranian government is looking for funding and investment to diversify its economy even further. So I think this will be the crux of the agreement. But at the same time, Iran has joined the Shanghai cooperation council, which is an eastern oriented body defense and security body. China, Iran would like to strengthen its ties with Asian states to balance against the pressure it receives from the United States and European countries. And just before we go, I see that a British council employee who was arrested in Iran has been let go. And I wonder if this is indicative of perhaps a softening of the regime and if indeed nazanin had a Radcliffe might be released too. Well, I think that the intention is to release all of the dual nationals that have been held hostage in Iran and the case of RSA is an important one. It's great that she's back in the UK. I think the broader objective is to release all of the British dual nationals and probably it will be tied to any accomplishment made in Vienna. And maybe part of a bigger release that would include American hostages as well..

"But so long as his base stays loyal to him and they want to stay in power, they will continue to tap that base because it serves their interests. It's kind of all very selfish. Trump looks off for himself. And members of Congress look out for himself. It's all a big power play. I don't think it's that surprising, actually. People talk to me and be like, how is it possible that these people are enthralled the Trump? Well, I don't think they're in for all the Trump personally. They're enthralled to his base. And I think that dictates a lot of their actions. Yeah, you have some exceptions. People like Marjorie Taylor Greene who are ideologically committed to trumpism and the Trump brand of conservative politics. But that's just because she enjoys flinging money at people, I guess, of some degree. But most Republicans in Congress, I think, are just out looking out for their own political scan. Yeah, yeah. And what is the story with Rick Perry's text to, you know, didn't they uncover that? Who was also texting Mark Meadows? Yeah, and I think this is a bit of a reflection for those of us who have been covering the committee for a long time. It's kind of a reflection of the committee changing tactics a little bit. When they first started, they issued a blood source subpoenas and I broke the news, for instance, that the first thought of subpoenas would include Mark Meadows. The trouble was that these subpoenas are really aggressive. And if they don't cooperate, the only other option you're left with is to cite them for contempt of Congress. But contempt of Congress is not a coercive measure. It's a punitive measure. And so when it goes that Justice Department gets out of the select committee's hands, like the best they can hope for is that they get charged and indicted and then that they face jail time and these witnesses think, actually, I don't want to go to jail, so I'll cut a plea deal maybe in exchange for testimonials, something. That's really the best outcome they can hope for. The committee would much prefer to just get the information. The committee doesn't want to see Mark Meadows go to jail. They Thomson then he Thompson doesn't have a personal bandara against Mark Meadows that he wants to seem in prison. And so it set this whole thing up. They just want his information. And I think this is a reflection of them being more strategic about the way that they operate. They couldn't get Mark Meadows to testify, right? Because Trump got to him is how this puts it to me. Trump got to him, so they can't get a testimony. But communications are two way things. So if Mark matters received it will send it, then there's someone else on the other end of the line. And in this case, it turned out to be Scott Perry. And so I think the thinking of the committee was, well, it matters is not going to testify maybe the other guy who knows about the communications about Perry or tell us more details about him, of course, well. It's got Perry came out today and said there was no way he was going to corporate. So we'll see what happens next. I'm going to bring in the army major. Army major, this is yugo Lowell..

across Hong Kong court has issued arrest warrants for two self exiled former lawmakers Sapporo says it can hold the 2030 Winter Olympics also save money The mayor says he will calculate a public opinion survey next or conduct I should say and then calculate an opinion survey early next year And Iran nuclear talks begin with the EU urging immediate removal of sanctions to get things done In San Francisco I'm at Baxter This is Bloomberg All right Paul All right thanks very much As promised joining us now to help preview this evening's India GDP data for the third quarter We've got Prague bandara chief India economist at HSBC So Brundle we've got an expectation of around 8.3% Does that fit with what you're anticipating So we expect GDP to grow 8.2% in the September quarter and that's much better than the previous quarter Remember the June quarter India had a very disruptive pandemic and there were many lockdowns and in the September quarter many of these lockdowns were eased and the pandemic read east as well So this is going to be a quarter which shows pent up goods and services demand and it's going to be a good quarter in terms of the number But having said that you know when you sort of peeled into the recovery data we find that the recovery has been more gradual rather than swift And the reason for that is many fold One is all the different global supply disruptions that have come in from chip shortages to the energy crunch and they have the manufacturing in India as well And then of course you have some very domestic issues for instance There has been a case of rising incoming equality and with the top of the pyramid of spending more and imported goods It has been really trickled down to the rest of the population And that is also something that has kept the recovery a little soft But going on head we think much higher vaccination rates and it also the energy crunch You can run a little bit quickly before crunch means make it a bit more better So the government has been spending pretty aggressively And how much have low interest rates helped Yes we have health Central Bank character and everything it's called from cutting rates to infusing a lot of domestic liquidity It really has no major bankruptcy to their entire pandemic period And now we have things like mortgage rates very low and people coming out of the pandemic want to improve their houses So there's a big demand for real residential real estate And all of these things are expected to make recoveries stronger over the next couple of quarters So growth is looking pretty good Inflation is looking pretty hot as well running at 5.3% as the expectation in 2022 and rural inflation might be a bit of a concern When do you see the RBI tightening in this sort of environment Yes that's correct So there are upside risks to inflation coming from all kinds of sources to this high oil prices globally But there are other issues as well for example with commodity prices rising manufacturers are taking on very compressed margins at some point when they pass it on to consumers then that could raise inflation across the board So there are some pressures in fact our senses that between December and April inflation could go towards 6% which is our BI's opportunities level Can I tell you the RBI has already started a gradual normalization process It's been draining some of the liquidity It needs again in December next week on 8 December And we expect it to start raising some of the radical and since we expected to start facing the reverse report in the December policy meeting So yes policy normalization is some of the cards at this point In terms of growth to what degree is agriculture one of the bright spots So then how can some problems in agriculture over the last couple of months the monsoon wins were volatile some of the activity had to stop for instance construction activity because of volatile and clean limitation was also up So all of this has slowed the sector a little bit But our senses going ahead none other than this behind us it's construction activity picks up especially residential real estate construction then that is a sector which employs a lot of rural labor and Google reaches could go back up So a lot from your depends on the construction sector Can I throw in a wild tad here as well A lot of the world now can send or just watching and waiting and seeing what's going on with the variants of the coronavirus What's the state of play with the virus in India at the moment Especially as we've got the cool weather now I arriving in the north of the country So India did have a very disruptive pandemic this year And since then cases have come off quite sharply vaccination rates have been 60% of the population has at least one dose about a third of the population has both the doses and remember earlier this year it's only about 5% of the population that has the first tools So we've come a long way in terms of vaccination a lot is not known about the new variant so we have to see how it really goes But you know it vaccination is a microwave in India is much better for data at this point than it was at the start of the year Pranjal what is essentially the biggest challenge at the moment Is it a resurgence of the virus or is it inflation What looms Well look there's a lot of unknown about the virus So you know let me not go there and say I want to focus on inflation I think inflation is a big problem in India right now It's not one of the inflation but it's still inflation that has remained elevated through the pandemic period And the RPM is to attack quickly come to the ideas already begun but let's see where it goes The second risk that I'd like to charge is the rising cost of economic income inequality The fact that 80% of the labor force is informally employed if many of them have lost wages through the pandemic and that should not demand and growth over the over in the future So that's one other area that I'm tracking But somebody else did as vaccination rates right and people still go to services demand in a services are more homegrown There's a better chance of that trickling down to the bottom of the pyramid So that's good news but income inequality is something that I will track for India.
