Today's usually in April but because of you know the baseball starting late, they move that back and so the man that play Jackie Robinson passed away and I thought that was just it's crazy that that made a sad thing even sadder in and and we're poignant But yeah, that's awful man by all accounts she was supposed to be a great guy. Couldn't. Couldn't stop thinking about that all weekend it was just a it's just such an upsetting. And especially, you met with the you know with what's going on in our country at the moment, and here's this positive role model and for for kids and you know black specifically and then. Just awful. Awful Yeah but I mean the other way of looking at it maybe to to try to find the the light side is that he I do think he helped change the world I mean like that is the impact of that movie and his him playing that character the way he did is indelible and I think Woke certainly will collie would to the idea that there is a hunger for that. Type of positive representation in film for for all people of Color and minorities and so It's it's awesome that he was in his even though his time was cut short that he was able to to have that kind of effect on the world I think also the positive takeaways that you got to watch that commercial free. But I do think that there's a one percent chance you could also maybe and I don't think this is true. But maybe Batman also a guy thought that man fit into that but I don't I think that that that it undermines that because because this is when this character was created for that purpose, right? No Batman the first one that's why I thought Oliver Queen might because he was created later I, think has created this. Maybe I'm wrong that anyway. Why was this interesting to me in the first place So E- it's it's slower. I I think I said I'm on the show that sometimes. I've taken less MED. So that I can kind of speed things up a little bit and get some which is not so great. That is not the greatest But I don't think I haven't done that in a few years and I'm Yeah I'll just now just a slower process a still have new bits of one. I'm excited about About Children's books and Richard. Scary busy town. Have you heard? Richard Gere is a ton. Of course you have. But he's a mouse the mouse the there's no back story you know you don't have to hear the the the whole all the details behind it like the cat inherited the business actually and he's not. There's not as much passion. They're the recipes of the same but everything tastes different. Because I would like to think in that scene I would be a bear and it would say comedian right next to me and you know schoolhouse. Typeface and You know that was the comedian. Because I would have a big a bow tie and a flower that squirts in you. Don't nobody goes Oh. Is She any good. No of course it's the town community. She makes the whole town laugh. Bamford interviews actors and Comedians about their mental health issues. But it's not all serious. She also has a new comedy. Special called weakness is the brand. I've had many friends and family said leaked suicide and one thing that always bothers me though. Is that when there's a bitch worry the for someone who's died of there's always the number for the suicide hotline and I know that it's helpful is helped me. I call it myself but as a person. Who's trying to kill himself? It always feels a little condescending like I know what the number is depressed. Maria Bamford welcome to the show. Thank you so much for having me on the show I want to say. I think there is a consistent talking point in your comedy whether it's early. Stand up your Netflix. Show lady dynamite your current projects and that is your dogs. Oh Cherie going there Yes it's organizing principle lost everything you do. Also bigger dogs Well my husband and I we'd been together six years so I have voted adopted older dog. So we've had several dogs Our current doggies are Max his ten year old pug from the Pug Nation. Pug Rescue and then we have Jackie Onassis She's a rat terrier Chihuahua and have been able to crack the code of impersonating your dogs. Because you do it with so many other people in your life well there's the classic Pug but then of course we know. What is the speaking Voice Grant Mimi? Kp young then. It's it goes a little higher but it's amazing what range they have and kind of different range than your parents who clearly have their own. Unique way of speaking yeah. My mother is currently obsessed with weight watchers 'em Delta and if you put both those points points games together can really put shape and meaning into your life. So she wants gold medallion status on Delta Airlines diamond diamond. Hard to get so hard and I just got cold. It was hard so you do so many other voices. Does anybody do you certainly Melissa vison? Your does a good one. I read their food had a crazy. He's always yell at the auto early. Lloyd how you make is today. You're coaching somebody about how to how to get you voice wise. What what the What are the tips? I think it would be a constant stream of apologies. Doubling back on your words what you just said I do a little bit of Haha signing so yeah a try that and with anybody to they say what are you doing. That doesn't really sound like me or they say. I really sound like that that bad or do you. Kind of make it a little heightened so they can't. We'll may feelings her. My parents are just grateful that I have a job. You know. My Dad says whatever you need to do for money. They're very open about it. I had my sister actually request me not to do it in a presentation of her anymore but the other voices. I have aren't any specific people really. There's a businesswoman woman who some people have said. Sounds like a diane. I was very confident. And she never at a loss for words and then curry knew from highschool. She's just an amalgamation of we men were having no one really excited. Tell me things that are kind of insulting. Looks only got a couple years ago. You gave a speech at your Alma Mater the University of Minnesota. And you had some. I will say very practical words of advice on how not to use a liberal arts college degree. Here's what you get clip. Don't do a touring star trek show of the southern states of this great nation. Where you have to say things like greetings majorly Lanka the planet. Beige your get there for way for me all right. Don't data Volkan on said Star Trek? Show and get an st one of the most popular. Std's you can get. Actually I assume fifty percent of you have it. Yeah interesting material drawn from real life experience. Yes yes and the other thing is. I talked about how I got paid to do. The commencement speech was the other offer. Nothing I think you countered with some crazy amount twenty randy out and they said okay. We'll pay you. Yeah was the University of Minnesota trying to suggest that I could not get paid for the one thing that I paid them to teach me how to get paid to do and thankfully I tell you know They yes they came back with ten grand and then I felt so bad about myself That gave the money away as a part of the speech to two kids in the audience to compete on their student loans but I coulda kept negotiating and then you settle for twelve five But the guilt of the old country network and I went with ten and ended up giving Giving my way which sounds like a nice new That's the only way I'm able to do kind things if it is in public and it is grandiose so it's all about the recognition not about the act of God. Yeah I am an atheist but nothing if not ethically competitive. We're talking with comedian. Maria Bamford but isn't that title weakness brand also acknowledgement. That the things that define me aren't necessarily bad that this might be who I am and it's what I'm going to talk about well. There's so many Self-help books that will say whatever you perceive is. Your weakness is your greatest strength and that has turned out to be true for me That thing where I have no boundaries and can tell anybody anything of turns out to be a cash cow In and mental health issues Definitely felt very ashamed of those end. It's been only good. It's been only good connected me with other people or or that feeling giving me a feeling of hopeful Definitely experience After shows it's been really Comforting to me. How many people that. I know that if I had another breakdown I would have a huge community to Get support from so and you had a breakdown on stage that right in two thousand six is that or is that kind of urban myth. I mean was it around or performance. What happened is I was. I was putting a new mood. Stabiliser was a doll which caused one of the side effects is cognitive where you're unable to think or talk. Whoops and I was booked for four shows in Chicago and I flew there trying call. His friends gone. I don't think I do and then when I landed a I got to the hotel and I went on this kind of crazy walk where I lost. All My densification ended up at cut myself. I was bleeding and it wasn't able to put full sentences together so I called my manager and said and He cancelled shows and So that in that I went directly into the hospital. Eric took a fly which I was. Gold medallion thank. You thank you for asking and I got a first class upgrade if you're bleeding sometimes They take in. I WANNA play a clip from your chat show called what's your ailment. There was a conversation you have with Jen. Kirkman where you talk about. The worst therapy works therapist you ever had. She tells US Great Story. She never once said to me. You seem like giving Xining because I was very jacked up and I was like. I want to be a comedian. I don't know but I have a day job like everything that's totally normal. In your early twenties. She should have normalized. It'd been like. Yeah that's everyone honey. And instead she goes. Well maybe it's not gonNa work out then and she goes. Do you know Robin Williams. I go well. Yeah and she goes. We'll ask him no him know him like I thought you meant. Do you know who he is and she goes well if you don't know him like are you even in comedy and I was like I guess she's right if you don't Robin Williams or non incoming and she goes. I mean I would assume like if you WANNA make it be friends with him. He can probably help you and if not like. It's probably not for you. I think just in the effort of trying to get help. I think there is something healing to that. And if it's especially the care that you get there can be a bullying effect of that like I. I went on One of those Internet texting therapy sites. You can do at now and we started texting which seems like a terrible way to have their and then I told her what I was working. Basically sort of work life balance type things inch. She texted me later she said Christine. Of course you're stressed you just had a baby and it was weirdly helpful like I was like Christina's had a baby had a baby ammo names Don Christine. You know what in the scheme of things? There's a new baby in the world and the piss poor therapist is talkline clients like madman. I'm fine so I can. I think asking for any help sometimes is better of than trying to find the right help like Los Angeles is weird phenomenon. That happens where it's like. No the only person you can see is this guy. He's it's very remote. It's in big Sur You ride to him on a donkey and it's seven thousand dollars to reserve a place nano call the Domino's pizza place and tell them about You're you're mother's a stage four lung cancer like try. Try something else. It might help Maria. Thanks so much so much for having me. I'm delighted CELEB- In my ears. That was comedian. Maria Bamford coming up on the frame fifty years ago. The Beatles WanNa Grammy for Abbey Road and it wasn't for album of the year.
2020 Democratic Presidential Candidates Visit Hollywood
"California presidential primary is less than two weeks. Away and Democratic candidates are in a mad dash to raise money and improve their name recognition. And where better to build both than in Hollywood. Ted Johnson is the Washington correspondent for deadline where he covers politics and entertainment. Ted Welcome back to the frame. Thank you for having so who came to town? And what did they do? Well Amy Klobuchar was at the home of Lorraine Sheinberg. She's the widow of Sydney Shamburg. Who was very top executive at universal and also very politically active and in his career and the rain. Sheinberg played the wife to officer Brody in Jaws yes And it kind of speaks to. What type of support she's getting. People were moderates in the entertainment industry. Probably a little older than you may see from some of the Bernie Sanders side and then p. Buddha judge is in town on Thursday. They've been out here raising money at the home of Seth Macfarlane who is very enthusiastic about his support for the former South Bend Mayor. It's also being co-hosted by league. Annuals I assume most of these events are relatively similar. You pay a couple of bucks you show up at somebody's house maybe get a photo shake hands and here twenty minutes speech. Do they all fall? Pretty much under that same pattern. Yes pretty much. So it's usually the candidate delivering a variation on their stump speech that you can hear in public on the campaign trail sometimes throwing in a few insider risk comments and sometimes doing acuity with donors who are the kinds of people who are hosting these events and are they aligned with one candidate or do. They spread their love around. You are seeing some of that but I think what really distinguishes. This presidential cycle past ones is here. We are just two weeks out from Super Tuesday and there are a lot of those traditional donors. The people who've been involved cycle after cycle who have not declared their support for one candidate or the other. I'm thinking people like Steven Spielberg Jeffrey Katzenberg. Hyme Savan these people who are incredibly involved in what they have done This cycle is. They either sat it out or just spread their money around among multiple candidates so as an observer. It's a it can be a little confusing. Just because someone has given to a candidate does not necessarily mean that. They're going to vote for that person or they're going to endorse a lot of people are just seeing how this plays itself out. We're talking with deadlines Ted Johnson about campaigning for president. In not that long ago I remember and you do as well the town being pretty much split between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama during the primaries has one candidate really kind of gone to the top in terms of leading Hollywood attention and money right now. Well it's interesting because if you look at the numbers Comma Harris actually is collected more money from the entertainment business than any other candidate. But she's not even in the race anymore. She's followed by people to judge who is raised. I think it's one point. Two million so far from the entertainment business is quite extraordinary that he's raised that amount. Given that a year ago he was unknown and he came in and really became kind of a darling of the entertainment industry very quickly that I think. A lot of donors a saw his candidacy as potentially historic he'd be the first LGBT president and they really won over by his message. They say hey. We see shades of Barack Obama in people to judge now also shouldn't discount Bernie Sanders. He's raised close to nine hundred thousand for the entertainment business for his campaign and he has a very enthusiastic number of supporters people. Like Adam McKay and Susan Sarandon and Mike. I'm war. They're out there on the campaign trail for him. It's just that he is not relying on these types of high dollar fundraisers to finance his campaign. He's is doing it through these small dollar contributions in his messages. Definitely resonating even in the elite circles of Hollywood but I have to add that. It's also tends to be the left side of Hollywood as opposed to the center La. So let's talk about the right side of Hollywood. It isn't very big but have there been any conservative people in the industry who have come out and said things in favor of or given money to president trump we have people who have come out in favor of trump. Benham with him very publicly from the star. People Jon voight. There is a reluctance to come out publicly in support president trump because there is a lot of blowback. I've talked to trump supporters. Who said they just don't want their names associated with him because things are so polarized at this time but if Bernie Sanders nominee will see. I've talked to centrist donors who are very concerned about sanders getting the nomination. They won't come out and say that that is going to force them into trump's hands. They'll they'll say I'm just GONNA sit it out if he ends up being the nominee but we'll see and once the primary in Nevada is over. Will there be a return of candidates coming back to La looking for more support now yet Joe Biden was post to have an event this week in southern California but that was rescheduled. Because he has to spend so much time on the campaign trail after a pretty dismal performance. In Iowa and New Hampshire. But we're now getting down to just a week away not just from Super Tuesday but also from the South Carolina. Vote so this is. This is crunch time for these campaigns in taking them off the campaign trail has to be a very Savvy calculation that it is going to end up being worth it to fly into California for our fundraiser will probably see the candidates flocked to California not this weekend but the following weekend for those first couple days before Super Tuesday. Ted Johnson is the Washington correspondent for deadline where he covers politics and entertainment. Ted thanks so much for coming back on the

"Lot of people because they're easy to understand their quick so things like Swat right so for those who unfortunately don't know Swat cover your ears right now and don't listen to the next ten seconds but it's right a whole path of supposedly putting up on a wall. Your strengths weaknesses opportunities and threats. And what happens? Is People sit in a room with post it notes. And they're like Oh yeah. This is what we're strange. Oh look at this. This is a weakness and they fill out this chart and tells us absolutely nothing. It's just you know it feels good. It's easy to do and it tells us nothing so a classic kind of thing. They'll put up in strength. Is You know our people our competitive advantage or are competitive advantages quality or a competitor that has customer service and every one of those every one of your competitors. Say the exact same thing. So we've got to get past these sorts of techniques. These approaches. These what I call myth of strategy so that we can get underneath and get to what really separates companies in the customers. I mean customers sitting out there making decision to buy a car or go out to dinner or to buy a computer or by some clothing. Whatever it is. They're getting ready to do. They are going to make a decision based on what the advantages are of value. Proposition is for them and they quite honestly don't care who the employees who delivers the meal. At McDonald's. They didn't come to McDonald's to meet Sarah Right. They don't care who actually handles their bank transaction at the bank. They came there because of the and we can go down a long list of things perfect so one other question that I had was tell us a little bit about five factor tests. What is that in? I guess us a little pinch of how you apply there for clients. Yeah and this may take me a minute or two to do so. Y- go backwards. What really constitutes a competitive advantage? So there's been a tremendous amount of research. I mean literally thousands of articles on this approach. And if I had created this approach I think I would have called it. The Bamford Approach. But unfortunately it's called resource based analysis or some version thereof. Some consulting companies have called friends. Some researchers have called free or risk. They come up with different names. But in all fundamentally revolves around five different factors. So you've got something you think is a competitive advantage. You're pretty darn sure. The element is what separates you in the minds of customers. Great let's analyze it. So the quickey version would be. Is it relatively rare right? I element that is relatively unique compared to my competitors you get past that next. One is durable that is. How long do you get the hold on to this cool advantage and the interesting thing is you? Don't get to decide your competitors decide. How fast or how. Well can they match you and will they match you? If it passes those two we look at substitutes. What are the different substitutes for this? Cool thing that you think you have right and are they good substitutes or bad up to if they're good ones you don't have a competitive advantage. Fourth one is a quick one and that is called tradability. I didn't make this up by the way it's but it's called trae to build your transfer ability and that is easiest core there actually several elements to it which we talk about the book but the easiest core is if you can buy it on the open market then it's not going to be a competitive advantage because your competitors could do if they wanted to and finally the Fifth Element is. How do you get value out of this thing? You just told me you got something. That's rare durable non-substitutable non-tradeable hi? You'RE GONNA get value and Lsu. We've studied this up one side and backed down the other in the research you can get value three ways number one. You can charge more my personal favorite by the way number two. It could just cost you less because you have whatever you get a better basis point run than your at the same price or third customers will go pasture competitors and come to you because you have this cool thing and if you've got something that can get through all five of those elements and usually try to do with the team right you want you want your leadership team to do this. Which you together. So you're fairly honest about it now. You've got something all right. Let's go do some research. Let's go do some analysis. Let's go check with customers. Let's go make sure we didn't kit ourselves but now we probably have something that's true separator that we can now use in the market about. Why should you buy for me? I've alda eyeball with a customer. You buy for me because and it's now real you've evaluated you've analyzed it and you can go eyeball to eyeball with a customer. Perfect as they all sang goes suck time flies. When you're having fun we've come to the end of our conversation but I don't want to let you go without getting from you. And actionable tip for the enterprise. Irs to improve their businesses today. Yeah I've got many make it real right? So if you've got some elements focused the entire organization around those elements because everything else that you do is just table stakes. You Are Doing Everything Wrong with Chuck Bamford
"First of all let me say thank you for taking the time out to talk with us. I know before we hit record. You have a ton of things to do today. So thank you for taking some time out to share with US more than glad to do so. Glad to have the opportunity. Second thing I'd like to do is to ask you to tell us about yourself. Now when I say fill free to go all the way back to where it all started or you just start more. Current Day tells about yourself. Yeah well I'll skip all the parts. That are are too impressive or embarrassed me along the way I worked in industry for about twelve years after graduation from my Undergrad most of that emerging acquisition work decided to go back and get a PhD and then for the next sixteen years. I was a classic professor of the I was exactly what you think of. In terms of academic I held an endowed share. I was tenured full professor and then I decided that I really wanted to have more of an impact on business to be honest. I felt like I really enjoyed the teaching aspect of academia. But it wasn't didn't feel like I was making as much of an impact on business practices. I could so I left. Full-time academia gave up tenure. Much Chagrin of my friends and started a consulting company which that's been going on for just over seven years now doing strategy designed Strategy Implementation Consulting and then I still teach so. I do adjunct teaching at Duke University at the Fuego School Business and at the University of Notre Dame at Mendoza. When we fly up there was only fifteen minutes down the road from where I live. So I still teach in the executive MBA an MBA programs. A bit probably do. The rest of my time is spent Writing 'cause I've got As you mentioned several I've got seven books out. So that's sort of my quick history. Nice so you mentioned you wanted to make a bigger impact and I want to dive into a little bit more later but for now. I want to backtrack a little bit and learn a little bit more about you. What's your favorite thing to do? You're going to take a nerd but I think my favorite thing to do is sit quietly and write. I think a lot of people don't enjoy it. I just really do data so sitting quietly in writing. Is that hard for you to do? I know myself with the family and the kids. Sometimes that's a little difficult to do. How do you find the time in the space to do that? Well I'm very fortunate situation or time in my life an empty nester and so the only disruptions really occur if the grand kids come over. We've got lots of rooms. My wife works at home a lot of times as well. We just kind of quietly work during the day and then I don't really find it a problem at all but now I do two to three cups of coffee in the morning and get to that point but usually it gets going. Get it now. This question is sometimes throws people off but I love to ask it because of the variety of answers that I get you can meet anyone in the world. Who WOULD IT BE? And what would you say to them? So I actually have this response to several folks who have something similar not exactly what you put it but it would probably be honestly the Dalai Lama and I really liked to understand how you attain inner apiece. Because seems like things my brain's always going things are always happening inside so I probably would. I would probably do that and I would consider that to be a one of those life. Check marks if I could do it. So what would enter peace? Get you why interface. Yeah I think it would just quiet every if I could quiet everything down. Not only could I do a whole lot more but I think I would do better with my kids. My grandkids to students. I teach back in the day. I'll do a quick for you back in the day. I was labeled hyperactive. Nowadays they probably would have called it. Adhd and so. It's the sort of constant stuff going on. Keeps me constantly going kidding? It has a pro and con and one of those sort of constant inside stuff happening. Which would be fine not Not to always have to deal with now. If you had to give one thing you do to overcome challenges. What would that be yeah? It's writing it all down so I run into for me again. Not Everybody does I like paper and a pen but if I can get it all written down what the issue is and that gives me a chance to sort of map out how all solve it and I'm sort of a picture guy. I have no artistic talent whatsoever but I draw pictures all the time about how I'm going to accomplish something and it usually helps me get around problems that I had struggle figuring out in my head top two keys to success. There's a tough one. I guess I'm only going to have to say it for me. Number one is to never stop believing that you can accomplish. Whatever it is you want to accomplish. Just my take a whole lot longer than you think it's going to take and I think the second one is one. I've gone back to even back into my high school. Days is always felt like I was not the smartest guy in the class. More of the smartest person in the room. But I'M GONNA I'll persevere just about every buddy so I think it's Focused down work hard kind of approach to accomplishing some really good point. I think that's a great life lesson as well. Perseverance is key it really is you make it. It's amazing what can be done by the willing to just keep pushing at it so we've learned a little bit about you. What makes you take? And I'd like to revisit the impact statement that you made before wanting to have a greater impact. I'm assuming and that's a really dangerous thing that you started your company because he wanted to make a greater impact so talk a little bit about that and what your company does indeed so colonel hearkens back just a little bit. When I was in I was constantly surprised to find out that research had already debunked a lot of the stuff that we were doing and business or had come up with better techniques. I was always like. Why don't we know about this stuff? So when I got into academia I realized this is it's so much of this is known. There's so many things that we already know how to how to do. Why isn't this getting out unless I was teaching? My classes. Undergrads are great but unfortunately it's going to be twenty years before they can put into practice the strategy stuff that I'm trying to teach him in quincy unfortunately by then it's somewhat changed. I mean changes fairly regularly so really wanted to be able to get more direct impact a love Executive Mba. 'cause they're normally all out there in business they're fairly experienced. They need to use the stuff right away and MBA's who can get into this quickly can do the exact same thing but my business is really focused about doing it directly for companies. So I like to get into these companies. Get into opposition. We worked with over one hundred twenty in the last seven years. Get into these organizations and really help them figure out what separates them the minds of customers such that customers will go pass their competitors and come to them and get past these face validity kind of things as I mentioned. Sorry in my inappropriate. Oh yeah that employees are not our competitive advantage but how we deliver on them but to get to elements that really make a difference really implement strategy and quantum just changed the game for these companies. The sales soared the EBA sores. I mean it's just it's been a remarkable run. That's been a lot of fun.

I can't answer and I won't answer it by by the way I I'm interrupting but I don't understand why everybody's so angry about singles versus albums to me. The whole point of digital music is that you don't have to buy the album. I can see you get there is there is implying I was angry. I'll tell you why because I don't like it's messy. I wanted I wanted to be associated with something more than just. Its own song. You liked by that like you might like that song banged the drum by. That's the only song you like. I still do it but what happens is go into my recently like recently added area. He coached Michael Jordan at the beginning of his career. Maybe had his name. But I think it's sender under Donald Congressman. It sounds running for Senate okay but then. I also competed with Doug Jones who's also be in his forties probably. Yeah the the Alabama senator. I'll I'll say apparently politics ages you evidence. I think that's totally fair right. I mean I couldn't even find it where to couldn't even grow moustache any more. That's how you got lip baldness stress. He knew what was coming. He went to that theater on purpose. Or let's let's talk a little bit more so they show. That was going to be great. That's we have special surprises for that new. The new season season twenty six for both the Wednesday feed that's when it starts arts and then the now platinum which will come out for the march. Where does that end up being something on my calendar it's the ninth No March the eighth eighth is a Sunday that the first episode of the Platinum Yup March four is the first episode of Season Twenty Six and also the the video. Obviously part of the platinum thing so you could say that that's also march four right right but the first official episode right here on the eighth. Yeah walk them through the. So here's an I'll say this before. machias tears we have. We have been hearing for ages about about. Hey if you guys went to a patriots style format Boy I I'd be happy to throw you five bucks a month but it's hard for me to give this guy that chunk of money in one swoop and I will say this we have heard you and we have a listened. Yeah so we are now going to an an e this is going to be easier all the way across the board. We're more of the pay is not patriots. We're of course doing our own. Never not funny system but it is patriotic on in nature. And it'll be easier for everybody to be involved both financially and of course technically yes so matt will now. There are three tiers. We've always had the three tier system. But here's how it would work if you want to join platinum season twenty-six. Yeah it's true we've had the VIP the NBA plus in the past. But I think these tiers Hopefully are more attainable for people and also they were doing a lot of new stuff that I think people will be excited sided about so tier one is platinum. That's five dollars a month It oughta renews every month and the feed that you get when you audio or video feed whichever feed you WanNa Wanna use or both of them that feed will as long as you keep renewing. It'll it'll stay the same you don't have to every six months you don't have to get a new link or pay again or You know is just going to keep working for the perpetuity of your subscription. which is I think very handy cool? I know that my wife and my mom and my wife and everybody in my life who subscribes is like. What do I have to do now? I have to get the thing every year. Whatever and that those days are gone so now I don't right there speak to my wife anymore? Finally we've solved the main problem. We were addressing so that so that the file is what you would have called the players in the past it's Access to the letter episodes the Sunday night episodes But we are also adding a once a month bonus episode that will be in addition to that second weekly weekly episode and that'll be things like Tournament of Sevens. And we're we're going to. We're going to start playing around with some some new ideas. New Am Not format things things but just the things we WANNA have fun and experiment with different Games and and nonsense that we can do and and there will be live shows in in that spot to So that'll be the five dollars. Five dollars you get the weekly show you get the weekly players club both with video in addition to this bonus episode. So what did I say. It's going to be hard for adults. You know what we mean dead hands we call it the Platinum Club. They want to sit in a corner. No sex in the platinum growth and so then the next level is platinum plus for ten one dollars a month. You get everything. We talked about plus access to our entire back catalogue. Everything we've ever done for the last fourteen years that means audio and video episodes In the regular you know numbered lettered. There's bonus stuff that was never available in if you were stitcher premium person. You never for her. These bonus things and certainly never got the video in institute premium so all sorts of stuff I think again. I mean we've talked about this but it's actually over a thousand Uh Peppers there's you if you count audio and video separately it's over two thousand media files that were that were giving you access to. In addition to that you get access to a private chat chat room that just people at the Platinum plus level can access and interact and chat with each other on what you'll be fun and then one once a month we will be doing doing a livestream Colin episode that only the Platinum plus subscribers can watch. It'll be it'll stream live on our site and you can in You'll get the phone number to call in. Only people who are in the platinum plus area will have access to that phone number so they can call and talk to us and watch Gotcha as it's happening so that'll be fun. Matt I have a question for you. I know that our listeners like when they get trinkets and so on and so forth edition to the episodes. We'll still be treated as episode at the Platinum Satnam plus level. You get a never platinum T. shirt which exclusive t shirt exclusive to this level. Brett oiler is one of our longtime fans. He made an amazing beautiful awful logo for just for the Platinum Subscription system and the t shirt will have that it'll be printed by Martin Giorgio over lemon iced teas you will also get a platinum pin same logo we really are excited about this logo and So you guys will see at once. The site launches. And then you get a sticker. Never not funny platinum sticker the Hologram sticker. Yeah it's kind of like a mirror back around Very cool looking sticker Hologram. But it's on a Hologram. It's like the backing his mirror and then the logo is sort of printed over. It's very cool And so that's that's for ten bucks a month and for twenty bucks a month. This is the platinum premo. This is I think we understand. This is a lot of money but there are always people consistently we have fans who are like. Let me give you more money and so we're trying to. Here's your chance. Signed a way to do that of course we always feel like we never wanted to tip jar. Yeah so I if you WanNa drop twenty bucks a month. We're hoping to make it worthwhile right right. And so would that level you get everything we just talked about at the ten and five dollar levels plus you get an exclusive. Never not funny calendar now. This calendar is very -clusive that is a very rare marched to mark Downer through starts in March Twenty Twenty and goes through February twenty twenty one and the images are classic album covers that never not shopped has made into never not funny themed cover. So if you're a fan of the twitter account never not shop where he photoshop us into funny situations then you will very much appreciate this calendar. It's very cool. That's a really well done something we already have so we will. We'll be shipping those right away as soon as the order. Start coming in you will. We'll start shipping those These shirts and the pins probably ship within a month. Whatever you know I know in the past? We've taken months and months to get these stuff these things out. But everything's on order or already in house so we should be able to fulfil these orders within within the first month rather quickly which is exciting to so what so what else. In addition to the calendar they get what else then. There's a personal phone call from Jimmy Pardo about telling allowing me that if somebody donates twenty not donate if they subscribe at the twenty dollar a month level That they will get a personal phone call for me correct. Was.

"Center whatever they call that and that's also where all the players happened to be staying and I was the comic working at the club that week So I had to come down for my regular interview or whatever the hell had to happen and then they were like Oh. That guy's the comedian working here so then while they weren't getting baseball players and I forget it was a female comedian whose his name is Lori. Something that will never put her name. She was one of the other comics. And then forget with the headliner was Who Was it shoot? I don't remember but Rather waiting for players to come down from the room or whatever they would we would bounce around to these stations from all over the country and they would interview uh-huh uh-huh to kill time. which what fucking Snooze Ashby for somebody in so? I was talking to the guy from Boston. Yeah and end. And he's talking about comedy and stuff and I'm answering them and then they saw clemens and it was like literally. If there was a way to push me out window they would have been having. It's like a hook literally out and grab your neck and now now that's what they'd let me stay because they didn't know how long Roger would be there. Yeah so I I watched a an interview with Roger Clemens with the baseball with a Boston radio station as close as you and I are right now and then I might have interjected in order to And who are you. I'm sure you wonder why they do. Not Know this guy he was like this is played in the National League. Hetero this Guy Oh God boy this very tiny for player and then I then he went away and then he'd you're talking to me but I did not because I was not following baseball in one thousand nine hundred ninety. It was a little window of time where I did not care at all about baseball. Where had I known? Oh my God. This guy will be considered one of the greatest pitchers of all time. I may have done something on a signature dish or something at least cared you know. Yeah but then if it turns out he's Yeah I. I was interested as to what the shortest artist baseball player might be a quick search. Is that what you can't use Is it Harry Chapas. That is not what it's coming up with. What's the name? The shortest play was a pinch and Cheddar. Is that the Guy Eddie. Whatever yes Eddie? Gadol I'M GONNA say get Dell and it was a stunt. It was not legit. He is a Little person a little person and the idea that he would have a strike zone so small. They sent him out there player though no so it was just for the white sox. Bill Beck was the owner. uh-huh was sent him out there as a stunt wasn't sort of white socks if a mistake. It looks like Eddie Goodell. I I'm disappointed because I thought. Hey because actually from a strategic perspective maybe that is a good a good thing. Yeah it's not as I can tell you this as a short guy who was used for for that ploy in Little League pitcher's throwing strike. She's throwing strikes. It doesn't matter he doesn't care what your strikes I mean. You have to be able to at least bunt it and if you bumped it then if you have have to be fast Advance the runner get thrown out. I guess but it's a very limited use case that that would be and then the the PRI- At least from his for me. I believe Mr Bell L.. Who made the big I didn't make the big was? Don't swing right. They won't be He's gotta the whole point. You're don't swing. You're just GONNA walk you. And that's the premises is for you to get on first base so you don't swing and then you strike out because they know they know you're not going to say no it yeah. I actually swum the third one. Because I didn't want to look stupid and I still struck out but it was still going to be and then I came out. I told you about this way. What was on strike three strikes capacity? He wouldn't he didn't fall for you. Hold take back your mechanics job. Thank you for donating your no. Get off my ass. You Really GonNa do that. You'd have to find a person who not only was small but could legit hit the ball. If they had you would have not just smart. You'd have to find a guy who actually is has no to all who then could shrink into a small thing then the next time after according to himself in order for it to be anything because the guys throwing to the catcher's Mitt. It's going to be a strike. Think because that person can throw a strike every time they want when I play the guy wasn't a pro. He was another twelve year. Old Talking for that. That's why was arguably googly a better strategy for your situation because the average high school pitcher can't throw three strikes even with a regular sized person at the plate so and I'm surprised that guy ended up being Randy Johnson. Oh so he he was fine. Okay wasn't born Randy Johnson them and he ended up being the famous ranch Making a name for himself. The next shortest person on this list according to the Internet is a five five is it Harry Chapas no. Where's Harry Champ? On this list. Five five is not that short. That surprises me that that they are listening to them in order is that Jose Altuve I don't see that name either Uh but he got next So then I'll just give you the name because I don't know how to make this end of whatever you do ready attack Freddie Mac Blade for the shortstop shortstop for the Kansas City royals and I looked up to him. Jose altuve is that said L. SUV Aus. He's the next one five six. Okay and then. Where's Harry Chapas? Because at the time Harry Chapin was considered the shortest player but he played at the same time. It's pretty politic. He was on the cover of sports illustrated. He was such a crazy thing. I'M GONNA look different lists because we're just look up. Harry Chapas all right standard spelling and all of that Eh and then then look up El Chapo and see how tall he is. I don't what he's a how much he's filling his sell out a AH. He's in a prison cell. He's back in. I could see out. I don't know where he's at well. He escaped but then they get them again. I have no idea next door. I have no idea. It wasn't the whole thing that he escaped. He went through that fancy tunnel. Something Guy Somehow landed on the other side so this is why this list didn't have this person exactly right. Harry Chapin three yeah right and and he played for the whiteside he played so I blade Google Google's list. Yeah but yeah five to three Chicago. I remember very excited about Harry Chapas. Because he was tiny and so he and Freddy were guys that I was like. Hey if they do it I could do it. They had one thing I didn't have and that was Skills they had the ability they had to be the fundamentals. If Darren was here he'd walk us through it In baseball if you are short As long as you have a strong core you ought to still be able to hit a home run. Theoretically yes Jose altuve. It hits a lot of home runs now. That said he plays for the Astros. And so there's no one has to question how much cheating played into how many home runs familiar with what. What's the issue with the Astros and cheating they were? We thought baseball. They had a camera in Centerfield. Oh that they were stealing signs got something else they knew. When a fastball? What's coming? They knew what a curve ball was coming so fast it was coming. They'd make a noise in the dugout. So then they knew I can turn and and and hit a home run on this one but nonetheless you still have to be able to. Yeah well see. That's the argument with steroids. As well you still have to have the hand eye coordination do just just. Because you're just like in Sammy Sosas case or mark mcgwire's case case or Barry bonds those may have all been home runs anyway but instead of the first row they went out of the stadium also that they were they were using partly to recover from injury faster and so they played more than they would have played and they were felt better and healthier and therefore had more strengthen it all they had to be very talented but the numbers wouldn't have been as Gaudy. They would've been they still would have been through the best players probably question. They just They they wouldn't have broken as many records. I'll tell you this. I heard that they were on royds and I was like you know I could do that. And so I play with him royds. Oh and my numbers burble. Yeah so painful that they were able to do so well with they did so well on the roads. I couldn't even get done. I Elliott when you're a professional though they have other ways of encouraging urging you as well maybe maybe the pain inspired them right to actually ice baths. Yeah that's where I want to really know this but how did you give yourself herself how. What's the process down my friend bearing down not comfortable? Yeah bearing down and then intentionally doing it okay. Like even when I didn't have to go I'd go in there and just constrain manage. Was it worked. I got the Roy Split. Yeah and it's true. It does make you angry. Had once in my life it it is awfully awful. Paints not fun. It's awful pain. So did you enjoy the Oscars. I where did they seem long interesting. I thought they were long. But it flew by to me and we. We did not go to a party or anything this year. It was yet We were scattered in the wind. A little bit right and then We were home by the time it started. Just Oliver Daniela Myself. But we have very much enjoyed. It had some We eat. I didn't really have big lunch and we just had some snacks and stuff to enjoy it But at your point I guess they were long but I thought everything The the the the thing about award shows there's always going to be speeches and some of them are going to be boring and some of them are going to be too long and then some of them are GonNa be good. I valley there were slightly fewer standout speeches. But that's you can't fault the broadcast that when it comes to what they did to entertain us. I think I liked pretty much. I like to have a lot of what they did. Almost everything I liked the comedy bits. I thought Chris Rock consumer funny interesting. You didn't like them No I like the idea that they workshop that the night before at the comedy store concerns me. I mean here's the thing. All that I I only saw the opening to those those two parts the debts and the and the and I thought that I did not like that opening number either. I thought that was. I thought it was more exciting than than than past like she had more energy. Okay then yeah like crystal or somebody like that. What's funny is I thought it was good but I also has of us as it was happening?.

hook you up with some hot available single well I tell my parents and said listen mom if you have a candle lit for my husband you know visit my mom had a candle little retirement yes well to make him come yeah oh she's a she's big crash and so I was like she was at home and eating him we're all I'll go out with anybody I went out with a snowmobile dealer in Duluth I I'm introduce me sport me about and I think that'd be good to say that to your mom to your to your sisters or your friends and just be like yeah put it out there and then they can start thinking yeah give them a job if that's or if you don't WanNa Park sometimes people you know if you don't aren't sure if you WanNa release now just tell Matt and then then they'll ask him about themselves everyone's will talk about themselves forever yeah I kind of I mean I love this advices I think it's hilarious to have your mom set you up with partners but I would actually maybe sounds to me like this is a good opportunity for you to set some boundaries with your mom and your family and say I don't really like discussing my love life with my family but you do maybe you do I think what this what this is probably tell me if I'm wrong here but you have you you're saying you've had a slightly unsuccessful relationship track which you know what I had an incredibly unsuccessful relationship and everybody here except for Natasha who had nothing but long-term romantic monogamous love enduring relationships and then I came along and I guess she was like you'll do Moshe has had so like there's hope on the horizon and you're worth isn't tied up and whether or not you have a partner anyway but part of what a noisy so much about it is like this feels like feels like a kind of an insecure place for you anyway then have your parents coming along and telling you they know the answer is that right rookie his his the everything time I've I've always talked to a guy with my mom mainly she's like why don't you pick somebody the touching rich or why don't you pick a Asian Asian Asian is she going crazy I guess that's a great idea is your mom Asian the this is a cool example of when people they are racist they become racist again they go so far into non racism is racist like you know I really want you with than Asian it feels like no this doesn't feel progressive anyway what race is your best friend we're both like taking American okay so you should that's what you should say he's not Asian every time she brings it up I want to marry him so badly but he's not Asia and my so I do kind of well we're we're in murky water here do you think that most people would agree that a mother Alan you that you need to date someone who's rich or a certain ethnicity like that's that's not fair or cool well and I know my mom when my mom tell me stuff like that like you needed to bury a doctor she would say or somebody rich it will kinda made me feel like I was incompetent like I couldn't take care of myself or that I plans were a bad idea because you gotta have somebody to take care of me which turned out to be not true at all I've I've done I did a very good job of taking care of myself and yeah earn far more than my father ever did by the way was actor I think I think that's a really interesting point that somebody in general getting that involved in your love life so your parent is essentially telling.

Because everyone was believing that this was Omaha beaches race to lose and now Omaha beach is on the sidelines, which is very sad for the owners and the trainers who thought they had it. And and also they had been playing up a lot to World War Two veterans with Omaha beach. In fact, I've still been bringing in World War veterans visit the horse over in the backside of Churchill Downs in Louisville this week. So there was a lot of sentiment there behind Maho beach, but Omaha beaches out so who's the favorite now, actually favorite. And fact, Mr. Bamford has three early. Morning favorites in game winner roadster and improbable all trained by Baffert or three favorites at this time. All right. Who's the long long on? So if you put it something down, you get a bigger payoff because the odds are so long. In the morning line to horses listed at fifty the one one being great magician and the other one being a horse. That's been racing in Japan. Jay name is master sensor. Would be the two longest shots at this time. Now does that play a role in the odds because he's been racing in Japan? And folks here just don't know anything about them. That. And the fact that itself the competition in Japan is not quite as competition that the horses have been racing here in the states. The Mark white. Why would somebody name a horse win win win? I mean is this horse is in the race tomorrow and fast break right next to game winner but win win win. You're just asking for it with that name. I guess it's better than naming lose. Well. Very very valid
