"Recent weeks, we have learned what you and I, I think we're talking about back in January of 2020, which was the Wuhan lab theory. We had certainly I think both heard from various sources that it was quite possible that the coronavirus originated in a lab in Wuhan. That theory that discussion as you well know, Gordon was shut down. Aggressively shut down and now it seems doctor Anthony Fauci may have been at the forefront of helping to shut that discussion down by commissioning a scientific study, which he basically was able to take a red pen to. Doctor Redfield, head of the CDC, was cut out of conversations because he felt it was possible it may have come from a Wuhan lab and I think he said the most devastating thing to him was when the Baltimore sun called him a racist because he suggested it might come from Wuhan. We know what we all went through. Why do you think that was? Why do you think there was such an aggressive attempt to say no, there's no way it came from the Wuhan institute of virology? My theory is that Doctor Fauci was trying to protect himself. So if we go back to 2014, the Obama administration imposed a moratorium on the federal funding of gain of function research in the United States. So what did Fauci do? He outsourced gain of function funding to a biological weapons lab in China, the Wuhan institute of virology. And he did that through the New York based echo health alliance. So echo health alliance with NIH money was actually funding gain of function on coronaviruses. So I think Fauci is a little bit concerned that the Chinese took what they learned from his funding and they were applying it and eventually ended up creating SARS CoV-2, the pathogen causing COVID-19.

Now he's leaving the state's political scene. The Baltimore sun reports that Cox is joining Pennsylvania state, senator Doug mastriano, as his new chief of staff, mastriano also lost his bid for governor in November to Democrat Josh Shapiro. Cox and Montreal ran strikingly similar campaigns, they were both endorsed by former president Trump. They both campaigned on attacking COVID pandemic measures, targeting transgender issues and advocating for anti abortion laws. Cox is telling the Baltimore Sonia will continue to live in Maryland, though, where he's also starting a podcast called it's your freedom. The capitol rioter who threatened a police officer with a flagpole during the January 6th attack has been sentenced to three years in prison. 53 year old Kevin seyfried used the flagpole, which had a confederate battle flag attached to it as a weapon against a black police officer that day. During his sentencing, he tearfully apologized. He told the judge he never wanted to send a message of hate. The Delaware man stormed the capitol with his son hunter, who was sentenced to two years in prison. That was done last year. Hundreds of employees were sent home after 8 suspicious packages arrived at the Washington county courthouse in Pennsylvania today. KDKA TV's Megan schiller reports from the scene. A courtroom administrator opened the first package, addressed to a judge and deemed it suspicious. The FBI now tells KDKA the packages did not contain any hazardous materials or powder. But out of an abundance of caution, the worker that opened the package did go to the hospital for treatment, and I'm told a judge drove himself to the hospital too. According to the FBI, the packages did not contain any hazardous materials or powder, and though the investigation is still ongoing, there's not believed to be any threat to public safety. A judge rules the so called shopping cart killer will be tested for his sanity. The man has accused of killing two women in his hotel room and dumping their bodies nearby. The judge in Harrisonburg says he'll appoint a forensic psychiatrist to evaluate Anthony Eugene Robinson. His lawyer has said he's considering an insanity defense in the death of two women last year, attorney Lewis nagy says based on court records and talking with Robinson's family. He's convinced his client has a long history of mental illness, the psychiatrist will give his or her opinion on whether he was saying that the time of the crimes, but it'll be up to the judge to decide. Robinson's also suspected but not yet charged with two deaths and fairfax county and one in D safe. Neil law can stain news. No indication yet how soon a ruling might come from Virginia's highest court. In the case of a high school teacher who was fired after he refused to use a transgender student's pronouns. The Supreme Court of Virginia listened to arguments for French teacher Peter Fleming's attorneys that West Point high school violated his constitutional right to speak freely and exercise his religion. But an attorney for the school told the Virginia high court the teacher violated the school's anti discrimination policy. Flaming appeared appealed, a lower court's ruling dismissing that lawsuit. The president's student loan forgiveness plan has survived a second court challenge, details from CBS News reporter Christopher Cruise on a decision from a Supreme Court Justice. Conservative justice Amy Coney Barrett has again declined to block the president's plan to cancel billions of dollars in student loan debt. She acted even as a lower court is considering whether to lift a freeze it placed on the program in a different case. "It appears there's nothing in state law that would actually allow that to happen. The Maryland voter integrity group says it's trying to recruit hundreds of volunteers across the state, both Democrats and Republicans who they say would hand count paper ballots starting the morning after the November 8th election. The group's leader says the idea is to re tabulate the ballots and compare the count to what the ballot scanning machines showed in an effort to look for discrepancies, but the problem is this isn't allowed under state law. The Baltimore sun notes that only a candidate can ask for a recount and volunteers are not allowed to touch ballots, only staff hired by local boards of election can do that. Still, the group says it's working to recruit about 600 volunteers for its effort. Nick lined Ellie doubled news. Starting today, if you're voting early in D.C., you can drop your ballot to a Dropbox. There are 55 such boxes opening today throughout the district. They'll stay open until November 8th. If you want to vote early in person, that runs from October 31st through November 6th, at 25 voting centers throughout the district, D.C. voters can also return their ballots by mail before election day. Despite a mandate that all eligible D.C. students get vaccinated against COVID-19, many students are not vaccinated. And now the deadline may be pushed back again. The city council is expected to take a vote in November 1st to push back the deadline almost another year to the beginning of the 2023 24 school year. Right now the deadline is January 3rd. Thomas Farley with D.C. health told a council committee, however, in a recent hearing, this is not a change in health policy. We certainly think children should be vaccinated, but there is hesitancy around the COVID vaccine. It's estimated that about 45% of children over the age of 12 who must fully get vaccinated under D.C. policy still have not. "A bat wielding man after a confrontation in Baltimore's inner harbor. It happened July 7th after Timothy Reynolds of Baltimore pulled over grabbed a baseball bat and confronted a group of squeegee workers on a street corner in Baltimore's inner harbor, Reynolds was shot 5 times at a grand jury indicted one of the squeegee workers a 15 year old boy on a charge of first degree murder. The boy's lawyer Warren Brown says it was self defense, a dash cam video obtained by the Baltimore sun, showed at one point Reynolds chased and swung his bat at the teens who had been washing the windshields of stopped cars at a busy intersection when the confrontation started. The sun reports that Brown will move to have the case heard in juvenile court, Kate Ryan, WTO P news. Maryland is ramping up efforts to test and vaccinate for monkeypox. Prince George's county bureau chief Tracy Wilkins is working the story for news four. As monkeypox cases continue to grow here at home, some high risk groups are growing more concerned about how vaccines are being distributed. At four 24, a 15 year old boy from Baltimore is under arrest in the shooting death of a driver who was angry about young people trying to clean his windshield with a squeegee for tips, 48 year old Timothy Reynolds died after being shot in downtown Baltimore last Thursday.
