"With on fizzy sitting on twenty six acres. Me and my puppy. It was time to start reading old classics while this fan. This you know thing is going on and With no people around. So i started with All token stuff. And i ran into the word phil and i thought you know. I have run into this quite a bit. Not as the past form of fall but describing person. That's not very nice. And then i picked up the Yorkshire vets books again and they use fell a lot. But it's describing something in yorkshire geographical. And i can't tell if it's it's obviously a mountain or cliff but it's not like a hollow. I don't know what that is so this is a really interesting word to me. So what are these. Two fells martha f. e. l. l. Right yes so you're seeing fell in. Those books are in in the tolkien books. Anyway as sort of a synonym for cruel. I mean i mean. It's weird to see. That word used as an adjective right right. And it's it's always a bad carrot guy that they use it who use it as a description caroline. There is a place where talking describes the nas school as fell writers. And there's another place where he describes fell beasts. I think he's talking about the things that live in the minds of moria. No okay the one. The bell rock ballg other things that are under their unnamed. Things that we just about never find out about really but fell beasts and fell writers. These are the spirits of nine kings who are taken over by the dark lord right so you can kind of guess from the context that fell in those situations means cruel or fiercer or vicious and etymology is a little bit murky but it may come from an old french word that means the same thing and the light bulb for me. Is that Some etymologists think that it is connected to the word felon f. e. l. o. n. As in a criminal right right and you probably know the expression at one fell swoop right. Oh yeah. I forgot about that Yeah that's the same idea. So that means an evil swoop are one instance of something. it'll yes yes like a ruthless and deadly attack by by a bird got them all in one fell swoop. Yes yeah yeah now. The other books that the other sense of fell as a feature of the landscape. That's a new one on me. Do you have any thoughts about that. Grant yeah so talking and james. Harriet both talk about the fails. Nfl is an elevated of land. And there's a couple of contradictory meetings. One is up a hill or a mountain necessarily like a tall tall mountain. We're not talking about the himalayas. But maybe a a rise in the land and sometimes though it's a level field that's an altitude usually an uncultivated plane uncultivated mesa some kind the two fouls etymologically unrelated. It's just an accident of history that they're spelled the same. Okay all right. Carolina we are so grateful for your calling in and sharing these thoughts with us. We we wish you and the pups the best take care of yourself. I i really enjoy it. It's my favorite show on npr. That's nice all right. Thank you so much. well welcome. Thank you bye-bye we'd love to hear about what you've been reading..

Okay okay so now what are you do. He's gonna find lunch hour. Uk that was romans head on the table. Ballg blockhead literally. I have to find a way to get you out which to roll investigation. Yes his first idea is can he dig a hole big enough to get them out role investigation for the love of the good mother. It's an eight okay. I'm gonna say that you can figure this out but it takes you longer than you want it to take. You could probably dig your way under. You don't know how long that would take but the rope that was tied to the grim locks tow goes up to the lock in the lock is just a bar through a couple of holes. It's just out of the kids is reach his eyes get big toy old on and then he gets the okay it experimentally pulls on it so romi strength fourteen. Okay you yank on it. It gives a little. It doesn't feel like it came completely out but something definitely happened so you can either stay here and try to tug on it again and sent something happened. I'll give you advantage on it or you can go see what happened. I think he's gonna go see what happened. Okay so you run all the way back up the one tunnel down the other talent where the kids are and you see that you have gotten it out of the lower most hole and the hole on the top of the locking mechanism still. Has this bar through it. But the kids are still managing to push the cage. Door open some. It's not very well constructed. These not a professional is a grim lock in the forest so some of the kids are managing to squeeze their way out. He says it's working and runs back down the tunnel again to tug again so rolls strength again. Thirteen's that's enough that's enough against. Has anyone seen anesthesia. And there's that dog whose ears flap really hard so he can fly. Imagine that but it's this pit bull lab mix with his head between my legs flapping its head back and forth and shaking. His ears really hard. Oh have you signed from you A heavy sigh. Your life is so hard because you already have the mechanism halfway undone that does it. You tumbling backwards a little bit. But it's good. He runs back up the tunnel again to check on the kids. Bumble you such a good show and she scrubbing his face and scratching behind its ears and giving him so many kisses. Thank you we need to go. Yeah yeah we need to go. Come on zach. And she helps act to his feet. is a little sway e east ways is what i meant to say with my human mouth. The coat looks bad. "Our decision destructor support for their respective regions so we invest a lot of money to give these regions and also the people of course in his regions a new perspective. Does that mean re training for new jobs. What does it mean to give them a new perspective. Yes this mean training. Of course for those people are working and specifically the coal mining but also called facilities but also simply attract new industries to exactly come to these regions on one of these regions in eastern germany. For example tesla is at the moment of building a huge facility for the production of electric vehicles and also for batteries at a european climate meeting this month. Climate activists cheered germany's new plan but they were disappointed that chancellor angela merkel did not announce increased funding for climate finance for developing countries. Germany's the fourth largest economy in the world. Jiu think germany should be doing more to help. Smaller economies adapt to a changing climate. I think all countries all developed countries have to do more. But i need to say that. Germany has done a lot in the past. We have been financing highest chair of all industrialized countries. So we believe others have to jump in now as in the future of their pay a fair share of the whole amount. Germany has one of the most ambitious plans in the world now when it comes to lowering carbon emissions. What do you think. Germany can teach the rest of the world about balancing difficult trade-offs and doing what's necessary to decrease emissions. Maybe most going to talk to to learn is reggie should have started. The cost would have been low office. Transformation process go ahead and fly. Spot is the state secretary at germany's federal ministry for the environment. He's been speaking to us from berlin. Thanks a lot johann in ireland. They're now saying something that hasn't been seen in three hundred years a pair of cranes nesting in a bog. That's caused for big celebration there. Mark mkhori is the lead ecologists at board amona. A company that owns the peat bog or the cranes were spotted. He joins us now. Mark two cranes spotted in a bog in the irish midlands apparently nesting or preparing to breed. Why is this such a big deal. It's really exciting for us. Because these birds haven't been a scene greeding in ireland. For about fielder years. They unfortunately went extinct back then because of haunting and we haven't seen them breeding since and so we occasionally get these birds appearing in the wintertime but it was really exciting to see a few words appear in one of our boggs in the springtime and dan starting to display on starting to build a nest. Unfortunately we haven't seen any chicks yet. What we're really excited about this year. Because the birds actually came back these are migratory birds so they. They disappeared off the nest site for the wintertime. What's really exciting. That they've come back. So what are these birds. Look like i mean how big are they. They're very big under very big in an irish context because in ireland. We don't have that many big words so they would be about four foot high. You're talking nearly six foot. Wingspan and This nearly twice the size of the hearn our biggest wetland bird which is about to tie and so if you saw it on a ballg or in the distance in a wet and it would be obvious that it's a crean something really unusual. I understand that this is a huge deal because cranes feature so prominently in irish mythology and history. Tell us a little bit about that. If you look at the book of kells there is a weltman birds or waterbird featured in knox with a long neck and i read patch on its head. So the monks that drew the book. Kale's at that were familiar with crayons and seemingly the crans were revered when they were present in ireland and their nesting places were considered sacred spaces. We see evidence of that because in some of our leaks we still have islands that refer back to the cran. They will be called cores. Which is the irish word. Suseya of the korean this particular pair that have appeared on this peat bog. I understand the peat bog. Had been re wetted or rehabilitated. By your company board. Dimona what is re wetted mean or. Damone are the irish company fats. Produce pates and we were to produce pete's for energy to be generated intellect and because in ireland. We didn't have many resources. Such as coal are even such as timber. We did have a lot of balls so we developed are back at the start of the aristide's obviously to to harvest. Pete you need to grant it. And now we're reversed process. It means that remaining paid stays in the ground and it's not leaking carbon into the atmosphere and it's fantastic for biodiversity under the appearance of the korean is just a great example of that. Have you seen these two cranes. I haven't seen these two. Cranes were being particularly cautious about you. Not trying to go down. Disturbed them too much. But i'm really looking forward to getting out on watching them. Seem boards like this in their natural habitat is. it's fantastic. Mark macquarie is the lead ecologist at board pneumonia. It's an energy company in ireland. That used to produce pete and now produces renewable energy. Thanks so much frank your car. You're listening to.

You say her has it. See your sheen. Six a visit men creatures margaret the night. More bless sedgwick. Blessed margaret does remember. Margaret does remember seeing some big heavy figures moving through the marsh. All these creatures. Obviously they're very notable these large creature out anything running a dice but then we just fine so she remembers you. Give her a little bit food. You talked to her and then he break off for ten minutes and costing or conceivably through our is. Okay Well i suspect that she has got night vision. Because she is a nocturnal bird and she starts she starts heading off. You gotta travel. Follow her for another well. To narrates the time she flies off you can see moshe get very far in an hour so we should be able to see roughing which been in the marsh. Yes she flies off for an hour. You're not sure where she went through. Her is very difficult to keep track of where she's going. She's in the air. You can't see the ground particularly. She follows her memory of where these creatures were going after. Not very long. I'll be maybe it's quite a long walk for you guys perhaps another Five or six hours march but for her. That's probably about half an hour. She a lights in the branch of a mango root tree. And you see us at a. I suppose you could call it some sort of weird structure. It's a sort of coagulation of mango trees. In kind of circular domed area. That seems to either be sort of embedded or semi floating in the swamp. And you've got the sense of maybe a little light emerging from somewhere. She's a bird so she's not particularly interested in that and you also have the sense of something long and shadowy flying around flapping jumping from branch to branch near her that she is you get the sense that she's nervous. She tries to stay away from it. And then your spellings reckon question tonight Do you wanna set off in that direction. It's about let's call it half seven. I think we need to rest. Yeah okay. i'll to lemons tiny. How long does the lemons. Tony hotlines for the towers. That must be kind of baked into the idea of it right right and it is. Let's cool it but it's hard five in the morning. The first citizens of twilight is creeping into the sky as you rows yourselves next morning and you got a general sense from the way that margaret their sexual that you should be. Perhaps all wasn't somebody. Survival civic can pick up the trial as well. I'm going to say that you've got you it advantage because of margaret sixty which is good enough you can still be. That's enough that's enough everybody purple. You pick up the trail pretty quickly. You got general sense of which direction they were going in any way and you had a little further south. It's not long before you hit a bit of an obstacle change in the map. Sit a steady rain sets in as you travel in the morning. Let's just the map here. So a heading south southwest following a trail. And you find yourself at the edge of kind of the closest thing. This swamp seems to have a a kind of river or some sort of body of water. It's very slow moving. You can't tell if it's actually flowing like a river or if it's just a sort of cool but it stretches as far as you can see to your east and west although the does seem to be some kind of current and on the southern bank of this thing you can see something that's well listen made manmade whatever a sort of skiff or raft. The looks like it's tied up to one of the wisden little willow trees but it's clinging to the southern bank. Would you too. So this is water over. The other side is a bite you know that lizard folk are very happy and mortar. They can hold their breath for minutes at a time and very strong swimmers. So they'd have no use of it so the only reason you can think that it would be. That would be a carrier for the certainly big enough to carry a couple of people maybe more. Maybe they had to make more one trip. Nowhere so far. Have you encountered any deport sir. And it's very difficult to tell because so murky but you don't get that sense here. You're looking at effectively as sort of something that comes up to waist or chest high. I'll have a look around. Is there anything like a Like a line or anything in the water. That's a really good question but no there's nothing so it doesn't seem like anybody's left any kind of mechanism for you to retrieve it. You wanna do Is it fast flowing. No there is a mild current that makes you think that there is some kind of movement in the water. It's just it's just the area flooded nece. It's possibly a very extensive area flooded. Nece cross it. Just gonna stop waiting into it. You want someone want to give me a perception check you a twelve. Nineteen thirteen Sessions israeli so. Oh that's an eight like twin secondhand. "Got the chiefs survive. This will be a sixty seven yard attempt to win the game by joey slide. Football league record slide. Big leg picking in it as well scored kansas city the victory to go eight and one at the by week on a hard fought victory first off. I want to see the kicks. Joey sly is making in practice. Weren't that rules. Confidence in me. Seventy yards that he keeps trotting him out for. I get into the game. Maybe if you've got a better shot at a sixty nine yards. You do a hail. Mary but i just. I thought that's was like the second or third game where he's attempted. One of these ridiculously long field goals like there was one against the saints as well but then go back to just eighty re pull another one out of the hat guys. Qb motion like qb motion before the snap moving laterally at the snap taking the snap and then reversing out back to the right and i had to like this. I want to pull out. The robot is any legal. I guess i guess it is. But that's that's pretty fun. Let's have some weekly patrick mahomes appreciation year man. Almost eight hundred yards passing nine touchdowns zero interceptions the last few weeks. The quickest to one hundred career passing touchdowns in nfl history. Beating dan marino's mark by four games. Now forty games in. He's over one hundred career passing touchdowns. Say this i mean teddy bridgewater made a couple of mahomes. Like place in this game made a couple of those kind of wow moments especially that fourth and fourteen fifteen yard scramble relocated in the air for about five yards kept his panthers team in this game throughout nearly led them all the way back. But of course the chiefs rate in one heading into the by and that's really the story here. Patrick mahomes is again kind of stepping to the head of the class. In the mvp race says we are at the halfway point and sees he absolutely step into the forefront of the mvp conversation. This is a team that you worried about the super bowl hangover because they were get bored on their way to trying to put together a back to back run. And then when you look at bad mahomes and you think about andy reid. And all the creativity i think part of the innovation and the stuff that they do is to keep their gas from being bored. And so when you see the quarterback motion and you see these plays that are dynamic. They look straight from a flag football playbook some of that is any re trying to make sure that he keeps the intention of guys eight and one head into the bye week. I think you feel great about where you are. If you're the chiefs the i just love when you've been watching football your whole life and you see something you haven't seen before and andy reid continues to give that give us that kind of on a yearly basis here. So that was. That was a fun one. Let's get to a number six on the takeaway list. Some young franchise. Quarterbacks are on display in the desert burston janitor at the eleven yard line so eighteen yard run four actually fake toward the end zone touchdown. Wow what bro. Insist first textiles dolphin. Well there you go. That was to a touchdown. Pass their the dolphins. Go on the road get a big win over the arizona cardinals in a competitive game or both in cuyler did a great job making plays cuyler over. One hundred yards rushing but buck. I'll get to you first onto. I thought watching the tape. Moving the launch point with him about seven or eight boots in this game and then when he was in the pocket almost everything was in rhythm. Three step five step ballg gone it was kind of what we referenced in the draft process comparing him to like vegas dealer just ch- balls out spread all over the place. Get to wherever you feel like got a little bit of separation. You're not gonna lock in one guy or another. It felt very much like kind of drew. Brees light type of a game. I know the comparison. There was some russell wilson. There are some drew brees that watching him play in. This game led me to believe this accessible format for them is kind of a younger drew. Brees game plan than than more than a russell wilson runaround game plan so so great dj. And what i what i took away from. This is one the outside noise about this being a ten game. Audition for two or talking about low to me was ridiculous. I'm glad that he played at a high level. And i'm also glad that he confirmed that comparison that we talked about win it relates to to being like drew brees in terms of a young drew brees from the pocket. You're absolutely right when they throw on time. Quick passing game a little movement. He absolutely operates in an efficient manner. That reminds you. Ah drew brees. And we're brian floor is made this move hats to him for being bold enough to say. We're making his move right now even though we could settle and go rhino patrick. He always wanted more and the young quarterback rewarded him because he played at a very high inefficient leveled against the garden in bucky. I'm glad you mentioned all that. Weird ten game audition talk like they would actually go back and draft the another quarterback number one after taking two five. Look this was not about the future like we had a c. Ten gains for the future. This was about the patriots on a four game losing streak. This is about the dolphins being within two games of first place in the afc east in division. That hasn't been up for grabs more than a decade and it's about the fact that ryan fitzpatrick while a serviceable starting quarterback disrespect intended to fitzpatrick while he serviceable quarterback was not the one that was going to in fact lead them to that type of rare air in miami in the last. You know fifteen years you guys it. It reminds me of something. That i've seen with the ten ranked indiana hoosiers in the last year. Or so the who saw payton ramsey come in and lead them essentially doing eight eight wayne season last year to a bowl game appearance but wasn't able to make enough plays at the end of games to beat high quality opponents whereas you bring in a you turn back to a quarterback. Michael panics with a higher ceiling. They bigger playmaking ability. And then you see the legs of penn state and michigan droff man as hoosiers go three no so seen. A comparison to a higher ceiling gives the dolphins greater opportunity to compete in this division and have a legit shot at a playoff appearance this year read. I agree with you. I never thought that we would have miami. Dolphins indiana hoosiers. But i'll let it go because you are right floors. Roll the dice to go with the younger quarterback but rolling dice to go with a younger quarterback. I think he wanted to make sure that he kept the turnovers down. This is not a team that has a big air when it comes to winning games playing smart inefficient from the quarterback position gives them a chance to win a ton of games. I fell asleep there for what was talking about football for the second time in the show. I dozed off all the way. You've dozed off so as upstate so much. So for the season. So wow we've got one loss. We've got one loss. That's it early in the season. We're gonna be fine we're gonna conference. We'll go in a bowl game. And so what we do all right. Let's do want one thing here to kind of wrap this thing up on the jim quarterbacks because man the dolphins if you look inside the division bills got their quarterback now which i shall he's proven that with what he's done this year it looks as though miami has their quarterback which is going to free them up with houston's pick which looks like it could be a top ten pick here to go get another big time impact player as well as their own. First round picks a lot of draft capital still left. And we're going to get to the monday night game because those two teams are the two that don't have that quarterback of the future nail down. Maybe it's sam darnold we don't but neither one of those teams can have the same comfort level as teams do in miami and in buffalo. And the we're right now at number seven. I'm going to get right to it.

Brees chiefs football miami patrick mahomes andy reid indiana joey slide Joey sly russell wilson mvp teddy bridgewater dan marino kansas nfl panthers cuyler ryan fitzpatrick vegas

"So good to have you here. Thank you very, very much. And we are continuing our never ending saga and episodes in the superfoods that I want you to consume in two thousand and nineteen. If you don't do it on a daily basis, at least probably every other day or certainly weekly. And these are foods that are designed to give you significantly bigger bang for the buck, their competitor in these foods or compounds that are in these spices that are unique in the food world in the nutrition world, and they give you massive benefits that you're not going to get anywhere else. Some of these have been around a long time, you and I have talked about them at link, some of them are newer and are, how shall we say, maybe less obvious than what the other ones are these two today are going to be right up front in terms of you've heard about him forever? You've heard that they're wonderful in great. But are they really let's? Think about it. So the clue was if you are a vampire sitting around eating sushi, you're going to really enjoy this program. The vampire is the is the oh my gosh to garlic you. Everybody wants to, you know, hang a bunch of rope, a garlic Grenier neck and you don't have to worry about vampires. The second one is the sushi. And that is ginger. Everybody always has a little the whole thing of ginger root on their plate when they eat sushi to cleanse the palate between trying the various did you know that's why that's there? They always put that pickled ginger on your plate when you eat sushi that you're supposed to take a little leaf of that, and eat it in between each of the different kinds of sushi that you eat. Because it cleanses your palate gets the taste of the previous sushi off of your tongue so that you can savor and enjoy the next piece of sushi that you eat is not desert that you eat at the end. After you've consumed all of your sushi. So I'm just giving you a little bit of modern Yasushi etiquette. So when you're sitting at the table eating sushi, you can be very knowledgeable, and cool about things. So let's talk about garlic, and let's talk about ginger, we're gonna pick garlic first. Garlic is very, very close in terms of the onion, and shallot and leak family. Okay. Each segment of garlic bulb, the whole big bumpy garlic bulb that you buy just called a clove is so each one of those lobes, which are big and thick and fat and covered with, that papery substances, a clove, there are about ten or twenty cloves of garlic on or in a garlic ballg, give or take, plus or minus depends on who's growing them. Okay. Garlic has been documented for centuries for hundreds and hundreds of years. We have found remnants of garlic in Egypt and all through the Middle East all through the Mediterranean. They're actually writings in Egypt in hieroglyphics about garlic. The Babylonians talked about it the Greeks the Romans the Chinese have been been heavily involved in, in garlic for thousands of years. It's written up in terms of medicine. It's written up in terms of nutrition, and it is written up in terms of its health benefits and how it got associated with a vampire. Nobody really knows. Nobody knows why you hang garlic Amini. If you hang up garlic around your neck, you're not gonna have many friends, anyway. So I figure they're just throwing vampires in for the heck of it, perhaps the most. Famous compound with N. Garlic is a thing is a compound called Allison. Allison is very unstable. And so it is present only in fresh garlic right after it's been cut or crushed. So here's the thing. One of the major health benefits of garlic. Is this compound called Alison? A. L. L. I. C I N. It is only it's so volatile. It's so fragile that it is. Only there in fresh garlic, and it's only there for a short period of time after the garlic has been, you know, when you put the you take the clothes off of garlic and you put it on the cutting board. And then you smack with the knife, be careful. That's a dangerous thing, and it smashes, the garlic open that is the only time this house and really is in an abundance, it oxygenates very quickly. So you expose it to air, and it goes away, you, you chop garlic up and store it. It's. Mostly all gone. You cook, it, burn it refined saute at whatever it's mostly all gone. So fresh garlic is about the only source that you're going to get scientists know most of the health benefits of garlic are from the what are called volatile sulfur compounds. Okay. And so, and these volatile sulfur compounds are only really available bioavailable if the garlic is chopped or crushed, or somehow or another opened up in all the little fibers are opened up and it has to be fresh. So that's how that works of sulfur compounds from garlic will enter your body through the digestive track. Of course and travel all over the body, and there are massive amounts of all kinds of benefits from garlic. Garlic is highly nutritious with very, very few calories one ounce of garlic has magnesium. Vitamin b six vitamin C, Salim and a little bit of fiber, garlic can combat sicknesses including the common cold. It is a real big booster of your immune system. There was a large twelve week study that found that garlic supplements. Reduced the number of colds by sixty three percent over the placebos, okay? The active garlic at compounds in garlic can actually reduce blood pressure human studies found that garlic supplements to have a significant impact on reducing blood pressure in people with high blood pressure, not people with normal blood pressure in one study, six hundred people fifteen hundred milligrams of garlic lowered their blood pressure by about six to eight points. Six to eight point since is pretty good. It improves your cholesterol levels. And which therefore may lower your risk of heart disease. Garlic does a lot of good stuff. But the theater remember is it needs to be fresh. It needs to be freshly opened up and cut in needs to be ingested in order to get all the sulfur compounds the second SuperFood. We're talking about is ginger ginger contains ginger all a substance with a powerful medicinal property ginger belongs to a family closely related to, to Merick, which we talked about last time. It is an underground Reizo. It's an underground, stem. And that's the part that contains most of the, the spice it's often called ginger root, or simply ginger ginger has an incredibly long history of various forms, traditional, and alternative medicines is been known to help digestion, reduce nausea, help. Fight the flu and the common cold the unique fragrance and flavor of ginger comes from all of the natural oil. So you can these natural oils are stable compounds than garlic is an era Matic, sulphur compound. It's not stable ginger all on the other hand is comes from its it's oils ginger all. G. I. N. G. E. R O L is the main bioactive compound in ginger responsible for much of its medicinal properties, and it's really powerful anti-inflammatory in anti oxidant. Capabilities ginger is really because it's related to Merick remember and to Merak has curcumin in it. And curcumin has the double oxygen oxidative compounds on the molecule, this is one of the. Families a great antioxidant, and a great. Promoter of oxidation in the body ginger appears to be highly effective in nausea. If you not doesn't keep you from throwing up. But it but it helps you suppress nausea. It's used extensively in people with, for example, pregnancy, nausea works highly effective in doing that. It is said, to also reduce muscle pain and soreness. There are several studies that look at ginger. Administered to elite athletes who are doing their high training exercises, and it seems to make them have quicker recovery time, and less pain, and muscle pain, on high exertion, it has a really good anti inflammatory effect on osteo osteoarthritis because of the anti inflammatory and the in the.

"Bbc TV is still over there in sodas field road. And this is a beautiful facility. It truly is if I miss the old place. It was a little warmer. I can turn the heat up. No, no, no. That's not what he meant by. Oh. Warm and fuzzy fuzzy okay now, where did you leave off I left off in about eighteen eighty eight? With the new ballpark, which was quickly quickly proclaimed the finest ballg are most beautiful bar overbuilding Eric ever Bill, and which they enjoyed for about six years. And team. One now by by the eighteen nineties, they were called the Boston bean eaters. Not just the Boston nationals all the Boston bean eaters in the bean eaters won the National League pennant in eighteen ninety one ninety two ninety three. Okay. They were really good. Okay. Really good. Eighteen ninety four trying to break the record that Chicago had but not in trying to equal the record at the red. Stockings said nineteen seventies. They were going for the fourth in a row. They played about five games in the south end grounds. Okay. And then it burned down. It also took two hundred other buildings with it or gear. It was the second greatest fire in the city of Boston's history. It took everything in Roxbury, right, but two thousand people homeless two hundred buildings couple of million dollars. But the ballpark was ashes. Alright. It was started at the ballpark. What's in the right CEO bleachers? What started it they said? Cigarettes, or flammable stuff that kept dropping underneath the the stands and just accumulated in on a windy day as somebody dropped a cigar. And that was it. Okay. During it was during a game during a gain this all happened. Everybody ran for their lives couldn't stop the flames because the wind was blowing. And. It took its toll. So they played down by they played on congress street. Okay. Down by the water because they needed a place to play for about a month. And. The stadium near because they had built that stadium. The congress street grounds in eighteen ninety for the team that played in the players league. And the team that played in the American Association in eighteen ninety one also played there. But nobody had nobody had played there since now the team in eighteen ninety one and the team in eighteen ninety one one. And so if stadium had never hosted a loser. Okay. I'm with you. So far. So these they're beautiful most beautiful ballpark in America stadium. And I I sorry, we don't have television. 'cause I just gave Morgan a pit beautiful photo stadium. That is a picture from the baseball hall of fame. I'm going to show you this is the northeastern photo, do you know, what that building used to be? That white building on the other side of Columbus cigar Jay in a cigar. Yes. Very good. I know the area pretty well. Because I lived in that neighborhood. Very good. In any case. The the ballpark did that I'm talking about the south end grounds is forever for ever celebrated at the baseball hall of fame because in two thousand five my friend, Tom Schieber, who's the curator at the hall of fame decided they were going to put up an exhibit of great all ballparks the three chosen were Ebbets field Comiskey park and the south end grounds, which soon became named Carter playground. No. New. What wasn't no Carter playground was another playground is farther down the street on Columbus avenue. And so it's not the same. Okay, thing mistake. Okay. So anyway, the the pictures and all great stuff great exhibit of those three ballparks, including south end grounds is right now in the hall of fame. So if you go there and go up to the third floor sacred ground. I believe the exhibits called you will see the south end grounds and all it's glory. It's great. Exhibit. I am too. So the ballpark obviously has to be rebuilt. So they can play the season, right? Is the fire. The fire was in may may fifteenth. So they play at congress street grounds downtown for months. And then they come back in July to the south end grounds, which has been rebuilt in the reparation wing time to rebuild things Becker, and it's not anywhere near what it used to be. It's a tiny little grandstand. They didn't they didn't ensure it for enough money, the usual thing, right? And so it was a a tiny place. The field was pretty much the same. But it wasn't the same. Anyway, the eighteen ninety s goes along and this team the Boston bean eaters of which I am wearing a shirt that I had made up right? They win in eighteen ninety seven in eighteen ninety eight. So they have won five times in the eighteen ninety s that's not easy to do twelve championships from eighteen seventy one to nineteen hundred twelve. At the south end grounds. On the other side of the grounds on the other side of the train tracks which are pretty big not compared to now where there were just two lines. The commuter train goes great, fourth and the subway. In one thousand nine hundred one came the American League the Huntington avenue grounds where the Red Sox. I did Boston Americans started to play. The Huntington avenue grounds. As also on the land owned by Northeastern University, Northeastern University has the distinction of having having its campus on to ballfields of the Nash of the major league baseball. Okay. Now, the Huntington avenue grounds got recognized because the first modern World Series was played there in nineteen three between Pittsburgh as I mentioned right in Boston. So there's a plaque on Huntington avenue as you walk by this of recreation facility at northeastern there was a Cy Young statue inside the campus outside but inside the area of the campus. There's a home plate, which I say is in the right place. But it's pretty close. And you know, a couple of other things that are there signifying and is even a little alleyway call World Series way. Okay. It's somebody put up in nineteen ninety s I think nine hundred eighty s commemorating the Huntington avenue grounds. Yes. Now, you have to understand why this irritates the hell out of me. You got a minute to tell me. Okay. The Huntington avenue grounds served read the American League fans for eleven years. The south end grounds served the public for forty four years. I'm with you. So that's five times more four times where at least..

"I want to bring us back to the film believes to about a serious moment. That's no laughing matter most of this movie's balk as earlier, oh, man. So they're they're the bar a bar fight eventually breaks out, right or they're fucking around with each other. And. They do. He does a hand by his crotch. Yeah. Yeah. NHL plan. Yeah. And again, it's the seventh grade joke. That's something people. Looks at it. And he says ballg as our punches this sets off this domino goes into motion. This is great where everyone in the bar starts fighting. Yes, you catch these. I sure did the come up there. It's a rob Hubel and Daniel Tosh point no in a poor. Rob you blessed to play like second fiddle to to Daniel Tosh is he playing second fiddle. I think he's kind of like, yeah. Let's get dash. Josh Josh is the one who's like really instigating the fight. And by the way to this day, thankfully, Daniel Tosh is only film credit that's a tragedy. One and done. Love grew at so good. Boy, he's got plenty of TV ones where he introduces YouTube clips, that's still happening. That's got idea, but sixty bucks. Shake the role Tosh point. Oh is still on the judge. No to twenty eighteen I'm sorry to ended last year. Seventy episodes of YouTube, and wow, that is a lot of talk about you too. I'm really happy. We didn't take that bet. I don't wanna get involved in owning Sadeki. There is a stupid thing. This was also a bad. So what why they're at that bar is because Mike Myers is like you have to confront your mother. So they drive to buffalo. Yes. And she is like a she's like, a preacher singer and acquired a Baptist church, whatever. And she's very domineering mother character, whatever, and it goes poorly, they leave and they're at this bar genetics. How they just end this scene of like, Mike Myers Romany medical get thrown out the window, then rob Hubel and Daniel Toshka thrown out the window and like, rob. He got glass in his head. Mike Myers has like a broom or a pool cue up his ass. They're all just like laughing about it. And it just it takes a commercial break. It just fades to black with these guys laughing. And like that's the end of that scene. Those characters never come back is you'd be laughing so hard, you wouldn't notice such a hard headed your is would be closing out. Right now laughter. Your laughter billing delirious, dude, you're just gonna come to consciousness again in the next. Yeah. That'd be one of those deflated jokes. They're just like, oh, yeah. You would be laughing. Who cares? The next scene, by the way is them some horrendo- snag. Gra falls green screen where they have like a little bit of a bonding moment that means nothing because it cuts to an elephant taken a shit, or whatever the sort of the ending of this movie such as it is right is all. Oh, please. I I was just looking at one of the things I wanted to cover my notes because it I think an wraps up this movie is it a bet. Sweating. No. When he invites Jessica Alba, oh to dinner at or. Pound flee. And this dude his his little assistant or whatever it is making the dish nuts in a sling. I will say actually the dude plain Russian issues doing a really fun job. He's got a really fun handle on this character. He's doing his best being the love guru and his best being in love. Exactly. But it's just weird thing where Mike Myers is like, all right this dinner. We're gonna have he regionals making nuts and a sling. And it's like what is it even two full offals thing because she's. Oh, okay. Her. But also that's after three minutes of them covering more than words together. That's the other musical number. You're right. And to contextualize this for people, though that this thing they're cooking. Looks like a nut sack joke. Yeah. And he's doing thing where he's like, do you want your, you know, your nuts pounded, or whatever is, of course. And the Deutz taking a meat tenderizer to this dough. Both of the joke is to one listen, that's too isn't Indian food weird. Oh my God. What are they over there? Fucking delicious Indian food, but they're doing thing. We're like Mike Myers is like reacting to what's happening to sleep in this dude pounds. He's like oh..
