"Course of being their filming and filming which we race for filling about seven days on race itself was five days through the northern jungles of the mountainous mountainous region of tile so race. There's tiger stalking us. There's we gotta eat on the fly so it's the race no maps. No compass just go. They gave me a backpack. I had a crappy Bush shaded bought off the market. Okay and it was go time right and so I'm a very big navigator when they showed me the map where we were going had to get to a river and the end point was a damn. So I've memorized quickly. Good photographic memory kind of what I had to do to get to the river and that helped me out a lot. Eggs used to using maps. Gp S.'s and so once he gets into trying to go off the land he gets a little bit law. Sometimes twisted intern pay is going to use my experience tracking skills and all this stuff. I knew from years of of new in this stuff and show that you know youth and vigor. I'll take wisdom. And Tha THA NASTY. A little Grumpiness from an old guy any day of the week over some young young snappers about us about ten years younger than okay. So was an amazing challenge and amazing race and I think I came in like just a couple of minutes behind which we had a client to a rope to get to the top of this damn and hell if that rope. That roope sucked is all wet. Had No energy to climb a rope with knots in it and I got big size Turkey wide so I went to the last saw pile of debris made a little bit shift ladder to climb up and get up to this guardrail metal guardrail. I scale the wall. My hadn't seen it or discovery. Go and you can see the season one episode for and so that was amazing and Last year Twenty okay but last year I got called up to go do a new naked afraid series called naked afraid alone. Now's unlike the alone series of the history out. It's called alone because we went out there right off the bat doing it alone. Not that we were trying to compete with the television show alone and so I was going into Bulgaria normally knowing that was in the Balkan normally naked for Yemen partner. This time you know. There's been a shows where the people have lost a partner and had a Finnish. But from the Gecko your mindset on. This is your. That's it so I was in the Balkan mountains by the time I got to my second camp. It was at thirty five hundred seat We had jackals there were Caucasian are not Eurasian Wolves Okay Gray. Wolves are pretty big pretty me and they had these hogs there the the wild boar that were very aggressive a bunch of mistakes but the resources were lacking okay in terms of what was usable even whether it was for building shelter Trying to get things to survive off then when it came to food the protein resources were just exist. They were just oh so elusive really so difficult to get at. And I threw everything I had to try and get these animals. I sit traps all over the place because add power core. I had my wonderful. Of course I don't leave home without it. Think that's a bad ass night B. and I had a pot for boiling water. Although I had a fresh spring I didn't need water but I had that pot making key and hopefully boil up any food. I might have gotten at least you weren't wound. That's an important thing had good water. Terrible shelter making materials and the wood for burning was all dead fall down with because it was the dry and all the trees were soaking the water up just like it doesn't Africa so we trot chop a tree down. It would take wallover week for that. Would to dry out so you could burn. It would just sizzling the fine on having a used dead fall after to a afire to keep the Coles go gone and dead fall makes the worst. Kohl's the best Kohl's are the ones where you get a hardwood and burn that and then the the coals just last a lot longer than it became a problem later on. I'll tell you in a second but what happened to me is a two hall. I went in air put on some weight. I went in there to fifty seven seven point on IOS waiting to forty five to forty seven pounds to go in and by the time I got out of there. You won't believe how much weight but I turned vegetarian. I had to resort to wild plums walnuts wild apples blackberries and a thing called St Nadal. Which is like a spinach at makes amazing t full of iron cleans your brought out. But I pretty much vegetarian while I was out there only a few crawfish did show but I got one trout and A few minutes I was a vegetarian out. There lost fifty pounds. How how meat? But when you're in a situation that you you mean we I watch with Eva sometimes and it's like how can eat there and I'm like when you're when you gotta you gotTa yes so I went. It was a healthy diet cleanse myself. You can't say unique craft every other day. For eight total shits out there crapping crew combined. You know elevations was a problem in the cold. It was like fifty degrees but when the wind would start at night with common elevation it was feeling like thirty degrees with the wind. Chill so I'm out there naked. Burn in my fire at night. I've got the hawks coming in. I got all my trap set up by made nice dead fall spike traps. I had snare shut up with my cordage. But they were eating their right out of the court and the only reason use quarters. I brought with me about snare. Wires illegal there so and then oh by the way all the small mammals running around me and the lizards frogs. They're all protected. I found out this one meadow. Where all the hawks were going to feed. It was a twin twin medals. One on each side of this little brock okay. I said all my traps. Mughal my traps ter- and they kept eating their way out. Well then the wolves moved in and I had two different packs of wolves starting to surround me trying to come in on me and when I found where my Hajr at I realized that the wolves removed in on Hong. Okay so I had a band. I had abandoned trying to catch the hogs because the wolves were just on Bay and so I had to trek out of there had a two day trek to get out of there. Took my Kohl's put him in my my coffee pot brought with me as I was climbing the steep rocks at a at a basically rock climb over these little small waterfalls got to this major waterfall. I fell over. My all. Mccoll's fell out of my pocket so by the time I got to my next point it was either your colds. Good and you get a fire or you got a bow drill again. That was the toughest will fires I ever had get in that environment because the air was so moist. The materials were just not not conducive. Not Working Right. I was unfamiliar with them. And it was really really tough to get affirmative. Fire up there especially when I got to forty five hundred feet. The wind was blown and at channel. But I did get out of there in one piece and again if you had seen it. The episodes on Discovery Go. Check it out. You won't be disappointed. What was the weather like? You said it was thirty overnight. But what did it get to during the day? Oh that's a good question. It got to a point if you could get out from underneath the forest canopy They have these meadows where I was at. It could get except around ninety degrees so when you're walking in the open areas. The ground is just scorching porch. In your fee. You Got Thorns. You got these lava rocks at end. The worst was in the river. The dry riverbed had the small little pebbles them that bruise your feet terrible for walking right. I made a pair of I I took a the willow and I strip the bark off the willow tree and we demand to these great shoes. That look like Crock. I had the first pair for ten days then. I made a second pair for my trek to get the hell out of there because I knew it was going to be traveled across a really bad as crazy as nuts. So when you go to these they do like Surveys the scene. Tell you like what you're going to be a countering or anything for prep. Well they told me well as funny they kept telling me I was going to Louisiana. Now is just like my backyard. I'm a swamp boy. Eat like a king among kill it. So ibis put nominee preparation into the swamp which I really don't need 'cause I I'm well enough to go to. I've been in every kind of environment ecosystem across the planet so I I've got a great base skills. Lean on and I just like I said Nancy swamps for my second home. I saw Rangers To get through the Florida swamps over there at bars was gonna say the wolves are way not just a Pekingese. They like the by Jangle. But I call it. Pekingese right because they they can only high enough to to bite you in the end of the. So I'm thinking go to the swamps Louisiana while I'm doing a I was up in the Arctic Circle up in Alaska. The Arctic area you some backpacking and before I went in. I found out. I'm getting ready to go to Gary. The bulk amount so very funny. How the universe you know throws into place where it was completely opposite the swamp and I'm out there doing some stuff and now in a terrain that's going be kinda familiar to where I'm going a little bit. It was Kinda cool up there. Even I was up in Alaska in August so I got back Alaska after being up there for about two and half three weeks spent maybe a week to get ready to go the Balkan so I did a quick study went in there. I had a great Survivalists that was there who I went out for about a half a day. Got Some Familiar with the terrain was going to be going into He and I were actually kind of friends. We were friends on facebook and he was a huge fan and we chatted a long time about survival tax. Did you just really a great pleasure to meet with him and just learn the materials learn. How HE DID. He lived in his backyard right and so that was. It was kind of helpful because I use a couple of things. He showed me That I knew with other plants and stuff like that but I'm not a great while. They're guy but he really helped me out a lot in terms of wild edibles which I was a vegetarian and I put it to good use. Yeah you got to Right. I mean and you know what you mean walnuts. If you're eating walnuts those are good source of protein right and so that kind of goes with greatly right we just whether Turkey I got. Outta endemically. I'll have a backup plan to what's going on like we're we're talking about you know supermarkets running on a food or else we get food in the everyday. I left out of fifty two pounds lighter but when I did my bed. Check Sammy me. I was healthy as an ox. Lote I only of low blood pressure.

"That was. holiday. he he did leave an imprint go to a. our own today I did and then I did what was your take away he's very good at answering questions without giving up any any cards obviously. away anything at all he did it in my in my mind like his his answer about the ball park was on affirmative that the fences will not be exactly the same when we come back that was like that was I I felt like that kind of snuck under the radar for some people but he he answered a question in saying and you could already we went out on the field one of the left field goal time out is already been obliterated that's gone so they're moving the Balkan mountains and he said and I'm paraphrasing but he said we made a lot of progress with plans to move the ball pen mounts to the outfield and the put on right sooner yeah and he said and the the stadium those plans include the stadium having a different offenses of blueprint. right center and on what if it's going to run I think the State Farm sign it is farther in right field is going to run from one side to the other is going to run straight across yeah and it's going to that's where you gonna put the bowl will she could put can be a great power alley than men because that's going to be because he was certainly to the State Farm is when I'm to Penn as right out to Penns neck which other is still gonna be longer than this he is still gonna longer than normal it's still me longer than a normal right center two pens and I wonder I wonder though if they do make it straight is that all of them they don't want to be symmetrical I don't I don't want that either I mean I don't want you to still look like triples alley right I'd want closer yeah so they don't know how they can do that but that's what I want to make it look like tribbles alley but just going to double it was out of doubles alley. double valley. really not really but I I just. the one thing I love about this ballpark is it as personality and it's not. conjured up fake personality like they Houston was for for a while with third is delivered yeah stupid Crawford boxes in polls and been in the hills in center field like twenty one right I right I mean this is like personnel like Fenway personality were this is that there's that much a the acreage we have to work with let's make a work and make a cool ballpark and they did that and I agree you have all four twenty feet look it's not nineteen thirty you should get a home run out of that that that should be a home run so you move that in but I'd still like to see it come a if it could I think the same close it off of what I'm speaking all together they good don't don't just go but all the Central Valley is gone it's a regular ball park with the with the symmetrical right center right it is our center field so I hope they do that I don't know if they'll be able to and I told these guys don't know if I told you it's really cold then I I want to see is John John show I don't know if Greg was here is it I think it might have been John drew this week or last week or the method of intra Canada but all of these things could call however one yeah yeah create that. it was funny some guys like. and I I thought it was like Brad Pitt in true romance for a minute like when you weigh like after he said it like the your. he goes just move home plate up ten feet they'll make everything I'm like that and I do so so I thought about a program like a like all I never thought about that that. the reason I never thought about that could still put eighty terrible I yeah I hope the lines don't work I don't they're not gonna work you can have your lines go out I go to the base plate is a work that way though this is dumb I go but but many had me for like five seconds really really. if you hear the comment at first you're like. when you think about it I'm not like that. hello. ground is Oakland. this is a. it doesn't work. I think home plate will stand I enjoyed. zero is a great nine second but that was it but I do agree they need to they need to movement if you remove manned and figured out problem is they will get rid of that stupid Kilgore. as you can with like the failing cucumbers movies I don't know if you could put the mounds right behind in dead center field I don't think there's another ball park in league that has that you have to put you have to sync them but so they were definitely beneath the wall they have a large family because visiting Penn. "Hey, dad best show. Thank you. Yeah. I why do we have to have warmup pitches out of the bullpen when guys come in? And that's a Morgan you make it you make you make a great point. And and and and you'll ask you a question. I just wanted to say Jeff that on this show last week. I said Al Lopez way back when manager of the Chicago White Sox talking about the fact this nineteen sixty two he was talking about the fact that why do relievers have to come in and get a full complement of pitches. They've just been warming up. Why does the starting pitcher need eight? Why don't you give them a five? If you wanna if you wanna speed it up here. Here's the thing is that nobody understands that. The bullpen mound is not the same as the game mount every Balkan mountains different. So once you go out in you. Differently. You know, sometimes they cut the slope a little bit differently out on the out on the main field. So you need maybe you probably could use five just to get us for the mound because it is so different. So you go in there, you know, about the man mount heights when we first started in L E play the National League east the mountains were like mountains you need ropes to climb on were so high so going from the bullpen mound, which didn't have the steep slope. And all of a sudden going into the game mound. You you needed those couple extra pitches. Just used for the stri good. You went in there. Blind and say, okay, I don't get any pitches. It's tough for reliever actually to go out there and not do that without at least a couple of one. You make a great point mortgage where we're going to say, yeah, what I was gonna say is if a goalie comes in in NHL game and the the whole front decrease all chopped up because the way the previous groups in getting a chance to take jobs and get warmed up like just come into the game play that should be part of the game. Crew guy that come in and fix alls. But we need that we need that we need those couple of extra pitches because of the of the Mt. Right. Mortgage exit much for the call Joe is in massapequa on Randall's talking baseball on the fan Hijo guys. How I Jeff. Thank you. Memories. Well, I I go to twenty games. Security. About seventy games a year nine, and I noticed one thing you take to the fan that is on the phone constantly one lady. Once I saw playing words with friends the guy next to me. I I heard about walk that not watching the game. Every sport is reality. Three hours long. There's probably gave playing football. Maybe thirty minutes of play. I heard it was on. Something like that. I mean, you worry about the pitch clock is rethinking guy. I just get him in there are, Yup. Coach baseball. Hurry. I'll talk in the box. But the thing that gets me, and I like the trips to the mound, which I liked a lot because I remember when Savelli played for the Yankees. Everybody would go out there and talk. Right. The three pitcher. The minimum. Now, you're going to get rid of the lefty specialist in the writing specialist. Have left handed pitchers pitch for the Yankees and logging specialists. They could barely pick. The lefties mighty destroyed. Those guys are gonna lose their jobs. There's no such thing as a special, but I would do you worry about all this time. Save time cutting down ten seconds every commercial break. What are you saying? Three minutes a game with the national walk your holy fingers, shaving one, thirty seconds. What about the way they're so bad that you have replays this sometimes we play take ten minutes. You got to put a cap on it. That's when you save the time. Joe? Thanks so much for your thanks. Thanks so much. Thanks so much. Jeff. I get a lot of calls. Can you stay? Oh, yeah. Sure. Great just Nelson with is four time world champion with the New York Yankees. And was beloved by Yankee fans he and Mike Stanton leading the games into Marianna Rivera taking your phone calls on the toll free at eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six and now John Minka with our twenty twenty..

"But ideally would love to move back to Europe again. So that's my main focuses particularly on the and he goes, so so so you were basing miles that's going to say, well, there's that are you saying that you basically were a vampire hundred for the State Department is that. Tonight. To mazdas. There's something wrong with the nobody could serve two masters. I read that in the bible. Right. Exactly. Well, I'm also looking at maybe doing a PHD. So particularly again, it'll be on eastern Europe. I just can't seem to get away from the area. So this is probably a stereotypical of Americans. But you know, a lot of this may not know much about the Balkan regions. I mean outside of the, you know, I remember some news stories about some kind of conflict or something. But the. What is the Balkan region because that's not really a country. What what is that the bogans is a great question to start with? I always try to explain to people think of where Italy is if you can picture Italy as the boot. And if he can try think for greases it's in that area. So you're talking about a Mediterranean culture with the Adriatic around eight Adriatic Sea in the union sees so it's also rounded by the Black Sea. And he can think of maybe rush on a map, the actual Balkan location. Technically is in Bulgaria and very very extreme eastern Serbia. It's where the Balkan mountain ranges where the name comes from a regionally lauded this area goes back to well, really the Roman empire. There was about seventeen different Roman emperors from the Balkans region, including mostly from what else Serbia, and you had a particularly focused in the time of the Byzantines, even though they would never call themselves that they would call themselves eastern Roman empire. And they were battled. The Sarah's battle. Back and forth and tossed around because it had a lot flat paintings, and it has a lot of not really high mountains don't think of like the Alps or the Rockies. These are pretty mountains. Look apper easy to get over and this area stretches through what used to be the former Yugoslavia this area stretches towards out Romania Bulgaria, and it gets really big euless because some clued Hungary in that area include Greece in this area include Turkey in this area. But for the general history overall is that up until about the later seventeen hundreds this area was known as a Turkey in Europe. Because a lot of air is part of the Ottoman empire. The Habsburg empire and the Rahmonov empires, and it Dan by eighteen hundreds name Balkan came about because a lot of your western explorers. Like George Byron. And what else not started going there and writing down that stories they've heard or this area has this. And this group is there, and you get all these various different democ. Traffic tater, that's really some good and some pretty terrible that team back, and it became part of the western beliefs and by Wilbur one right before one, and then, of course, into the nineties, everyone thinks of the implosion of Yugoslavia, and unfortunate Balkans is become a very negative term. So I prefer to say southeastern Europe. But for general audience, I will say the Balkans. Does this include? Did you say Romania? Yes. So I'll give you the countries of generally where let's say big is the Balkans. Are let's just give you country. Let's much as pecan. So you got the former Yugoslavia which includes Slovenia Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina Montenegro Serbia Kosova slash pulsa Vode, pending on who you ask and Macedonia renaming itself north Macedonia. Yeah. It's usually. Yeah. Exactly. Which is fascinating case in itself, and you have Albanian which always been independent since nineteen twelve then yet Greece then you have both. Guerrier Romania and some include Hungary in there some include Moldova, but I try not to because you could also attend including Ukraine in there because part of it Judson to the area but Ukraine Moldova because they're not into European Union as some of these other countries in the western Balkans. Are I clued as more is eastern Europe in turkeys and big US because we're east on bul is that is technically in Europe but Turkey straddles across into Asia's, well as name Asia, Minor Anatolia, and I'm looking at work, and I'm looking at Cambridge actually do my PHD and I'm looking at their programs..

"The time sucks store for flippable states because if we don't, she has to track down every sale after the fact and manually calculate and pay for each individual sale, which is a fucking nightmare. So God damn Lewis Fena. Mussa FINA told me not to worry about Japan has always saying, don't even worry about Dan, just relax. Drink, take your pants off, just chill, you know, get naked and just relax and don't pay things. So begun to FINA by love you and that's it. That's it. So now let's get rugged. Let's get Roman. Let's get rock-hard for shit. So manly it is beyond my twenty-first-century male comprehension and suck on some Spartacus. Who was part of his character. This charter, as as I would say, Wasi, we know virtually nothing about his pre gladiator life other than he was Thracian. So what is the Thracian? Well, Thracians were the Roman empire's first professional athletes. They played an early form of a discus based game pretty similar to modern frisbee golf called thrice, and the best rations could hit a small steel target with bronze disc from about two three hundred yards away. Spartak has played for the Naples super buses and they'd won the alad Capri tri-nation championship three years running spark has just picked up an endorsement from Troyes talcum powder. The most popular hand slash body slash ball powder of Rome choice. Talcum don't toss a yoga over your balls or leave Rome without it. I'll show myself out Ness nonsense. You know that now let's talking about who the Thracians really were. Three is a historical area that stretched from the Balkan mountains to the north, you GNC to the south, the Black Sea to the east, the area of. Day, Bulgaria, parts of Macedonia, Serbia, Romania. Let's take a look at the progression of Thracian culture with a brief time. Suck timeline. Wrap on those boots soldier where Martin down a time, soccer time line. Right? This time line starts thirty five thousand forty thousand BC the earliest traces a man in threes. Go back to the paleolithic time four thousand years ago. Humans were still probably speaking mostly in grunts and club in whatever they wanted to have you wanna pet dog club a bit tilt respects you as a master and starts listening to your grunts you want a ham sandwich, but hawk club it till stop Scrutton. You want you want a woman. Well, threaten the club her until she grunts her dream to some sort of marriage. I honestly have no idea what Thracian three to forty thousand years ago and neither does anyone else. But you know, based on archaeological digs and discoveries, that's when they realized they showed up in the area for the first time around six thousand BC stories. No, that threes was settled by an agricultural population. Two thousand years after that they discovered minerals, turned to mining into metalwork in central Bulgaria or gala just have excavated numerous copper tools, weapons, and. Ornaments all dating from that period. Men working in Thracian mind must have been really terrible. Like mine is hard work. I've I've watched miners work outside of Wallace, Idaho that shit's no joke down. Now, thousands of feet underground, heavy tools, hot conditions, having a backbreaking sweaty, not mess around kind of work, but at least you know, modern minors can use explosives heavy equipment and they get breaks every once in a while, you know the imagine mining in the in the days when when you couldn't even buy shovel, it you to make your own shovel back when you had to build a shitty rock shovel to and use that to dig for more rocks and then figure out how to smelt some kind of some copper out of some kind of or to build a little better shovel to keep digging for more rocks. No bottled water, no protein bars. Now backpack plus snacks or Coleman cooler full of sandwiches full tasty sandwiches and Kool Gatorade and shit. No, yet he has some shitty creek water fucking bucket or something sent. He can't even wash with soap some old nasty. Salted meat, so hard and sharp. You praise your meat for shovel. Whatever fruit or vegetables in season, but not too much because you get the runs, which has to be extra bad..
