See Oscar nominees online this weekend

"For six bucks this weekend. You can catch up with Oscar nominated films like stars born bohemian rhapsody and green book on TV the online streaming services. It's the pre-oscar addition of talking tech, I'm Jefferson Graham with USA, basically, every movie that you might wanna see that's nominated for best picture is online you'll have to pay, but it is online. But I you will have to dive into an odd variety of different video formats and device rules, and you better watch past. If you're not familiar with watching video on demand, you pay around six dollars in you, only get forty eight hours to start the movie and finish it. So if you're the type who likes to stretch out that viewing you are out of luck. Most of the movies are available on demand via YouTube Amazon prime video Buddhu fandango now and Google play. Now, the Oscar ceremony will air Sunday on ABC beginning at eight p m e. T five PM, and it's also available on the ABC app or cable alternative services, like YouTube, TV direct TV now and sling TV, let's look at what's available on the major services net. Flicks has four of the Oscar nominated films available to members without paying an additional fee. Roma. Black Panther, the ballot of BUSTER Scruggs and the incredible to Amazon video which is the chief streaming rival to Netflix has none of the twenty nineteen Academy Award contenders. Available for streaming to members of its one hundred and nineteen dollars a year. Prime service yet Cold War, which is up for best. Foreign film will be on the service beginning March twenty second. Amazon does however have many of the top nominated films for it fee. The going rate is six bucks for many the contenders. But some are even more expensive Amazon charges twenty dollars to watch animation nominee. Ralph breaks the internet, but has. First reformed, which is with Ethan Hawke, and it's up for best original screenplay, and you can see it for just ninety nine cents. Look out for really weird rules Baheen rhapsody, for instance, is available in HD on YouTube. However, if you'd like to see the story of the rock band, Queen and four K ultra high definition, you don't have a lot of choices you'll need to be watching on recent Sony or Samsung, four K TV's or you will need to spring for Google's under the radar seventy dollars chrome cast ultra streaming device and watch it that way the ultra connects to the TV and asks you to watch the smartphone app to cast the movie wirelessly to the TV voodoo the service on by WalMart offers films in HD HD X, which is slightly higher resolution and ultra high definition for K. But I'm voodoo a star is born is available in just HD X while bohemian rhapsody streams in HD HD X in USD offer six dollars. Fandango? Now the service from the company that sells online tickets does offer a star is born in four K as does apple. But only if you own the apple TV for K hundred eighty dollars setup box the model that cost thirty dollars more than the entry level, apple TV. If you watch the film on your iphone, ipad, ten eighty p HD finally on Amazon, which has tons of movies of able for video on demand stars burns not there. However, it does offer Oscar-nominated films at various prices are BG the documentary about supreme court Justice, Ruth, Bader Ginsburg is three dollars the wife with best actress nominee, Glenn Close is five bucks and best picture nominee the favourite fifteen dollars. Now, I don't mind paying to watch the films, especially when the fees are so much more reasonable than what's being charged at the theaters. But these uses rules are right for changing. How about one rule on all the services? Do you think that'd be kinda cool? Happy viewing good luck. Oscar winners, a special treat for talking tech fans. Check out my at Jefferson Graham YouTube channel I did a video this week about Wittig grape photos in classic Hollywood locations from LA La Land singing in the rain to the dark. Knight rises. I think you'll get a kick out of it these watch. And let me know what you think you can leave a comment on my YouTube channel, you could find me on Twitter where I'm at Jefferson Graham, don't forget to subscribe, the talking tech wherever you listen to online audio police favorite us on Stitcher, which helps more people find the show and his always. Thanks, everyone for listening.

"Elsie Fisher got dragged onto Golden Globes. For being like or was it was it Golden Globes, or what was it where she got basic dragged for being like, I'm so excited for bohemian rhapsody, and everybody's like, it's really problematic and bad. And you shouldn't kid I know that but it kid when no that the the woman who Steven Spielberg cast in west side story, I went on YouTube deep dive of her performances because they're are just wonderful. And I can't wait for that movie. And she seems like she's going to be a big star. And a lot of her like YouTube covers were Queen songs because she loved Baheen rhapsody, so anecdotally, I feel like young people like bohemian rhapsody, if you're an Oscar voter, you know, and you have a teen. I think you maybe you're like probably watched that movie like six or seven times. So I feel like they actually do like it or enjoyed enough or maybe you're able to see it through the eyes of younger audiences, obviously general audiences loved it. So I think they actually do like it. And I think they're in twisted way. You could argue that actually awarding the movie is a protest against Bryan singer because he got fired because he got fired. So if you're a person who is going to vote for Romney. Malik for best actor who I think is actually going to win best actor because Bradley Cooper's not gonna win. Obviously as much as we would like that to happen. He's not gonna win and Christian Bale's campaign has seemingly not really done much to Golden Globes. He had that nice speech, and then just disappeared. Right. Like, he hasn't really been top of mind. So if you look at Romney Malik, he's at every single thing he was like Santa Barbara film in or whatever the hell, they call that international something always. He's making the rounds. He's doing like the work..

"People are going to be really interested in that. Well, I'm glad you enjoyed. It makes me really glad that I made it up. What is that? I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah. But you made it up, Freddie, was already roommates with those guys when they formed the band or whatever. Oh, why would you change that? It's a bio pic not a documentary. Get off my back like a weird thing to change though. You're on my back, and I'd love for you to get off of it. So anyway, then we're going to see his very first performance with the band. So we're gonna see his struggles as a new musician and all the problems that come with. I performance. Yeah. Amazing. Yeah, he's going to have to kind of struggle with Justin the Mike stand. But you know, he figures it out glad he managed to overcome that same here things. Could it turned out very differently if he hadn't figured out that Mike stand? So then we're going to see them go through the difficulties of trying to get their music heard. Oh, actually that's going to be super easy. Barely and inconvenient. Oh, really? Yeah. They're going to sell their van to pay for studio time and pretty much instantly become superstars that does sound super easy. Well, I kind of wanted to rush through the band formation stuff. So it can start listening to some Queen music. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And so pretty much the entire second act is figuring out well known songs and then playing them to immediate success. What do you mean? For example, there like we need a song that the audience can perform with us. And then they figure out we will rock you and it cuts to them playing it and everybody loving, okay? Or they're in the studio and John D can play a cool baseline, and they figure out another one bites the dust. So it's going to be then figuring out songs, and then being instantly successful with those songs. Yes. So that way we get to play a bunch of Queen songs. Automatically elevates any story stuff. We put a row. Round it. I mean, it can't be that. Simple people. Don't automatically think. Something's good because Queen song is playing. Remember when that suicide squad trailer had Baheen rhapsody playing in it. And everyone thought the movie looked amazing. Okay. Yeah. I see your point. So I think we're going to be just fine. But they really don't face any resistance to their music. Well, actually, we are going to have this record executive Ray foster here, but he being rhapsody city and be like nobody's gonna play this six minutes law. So they have to struggle and try to get a radio station and play oh, the immediately go to radio station, and they immediately played and it's a smash hit. Oh, so the resistance they met on Baheen rhapsody was conversation with the do. And they're going to tell them you will forever be known as the men who lost Queen. Well, and it's kind of funny that we're immortalising. This Ray foster guy in this movie for exactly that. Right. I mean, he doesn't exist. I made him up. Oh, so the resistance they met them in rhapsody was a conversation with an imaginary. Do that's right. Well, you're making a lot of stuff. Yes, sir. I am. We're essentially going to recreate some Queen performances and sprinkle some lies in between. And how does the movie and everything's going to kind of build up to their famous Live Aid. Performance or the dramas really going to amp up before that. Oh, what happens? We'll phrase kick the band's manager out of a car for even suggesting that he started solo career. That's great. That shows how committed Freddie is to the band. Exactly. And then a couple of minutes later, we're going to have Freddie, go was Ben like, hey, guys going to start a solo career? Oh, we are. Yeah. And how do they take it? Oh, not well at all the band's going to break up. Oh, no. And then FREDDY is gonna get diagnosed with aids. Oh, no. So all that stuff is going to lay the groundwork for how dramatic the Live Aid performance is going to be that is a lot of drama. Yes. Afraid he's going to have to apologize to his band to get them back together for Live Aid. And he's going to have to tell them that. He has aids. Riveting stuff. Yeah. In the band's going to be like, Freddie, we haven't played together in years..

"It the directors of none of those films were nominated for best director instead of the best retro nominees are the directors of of Roma which Netflix movie that didn't report any grosses. But they're extremely low only a handful of theaters the same time, you can stream it and no additional costs on Netflix and another film nominated for best director, but not best picture is Cold War, which any black and white polish film, so far gross less than one million dollars. Now, I know there were various issues with the director of Baheen rhapsody, but you mentioned a couple of the other big ones Black Panther. And a star is born they certainly didn't direct themselves, and they got generally great review. So we're Ryan Kuebler and Bradley Cooper snubbed in the director. I mean, a lot of people think they were wine Kugler and people weren't sure if he can nominated frankly, just because. Black Panther is the first superhero film to even be nominated for best picture. So that's a big deal in and of itself. And also get best director would have been even more than accomplishment. Morrison? More surprising. I think for superhero fans more of a wonderful surprise. And don't forget there can be up to ten movies nominated for best picture this year. There were eight they're always five nominees. So he's going to be tough for him. But for Bradley Cooper, did not be nominated shocked a lot of people. A star is born is one of the has long been a favorite to win best picture and to really be the big winner at the Oscars this year. So it was very surprised. That's that's a favorite at the Oscars. "Got more sports. Eric standby? We'll get touch base with him here in just five quick minutes. I know with the government shutdown over at least for a couple of three weeks a lot of people turn their attention to tax time. We know the IRS is in is going to be a little sluggish start to get to get their feet back under and all that here in Ohio. You are able to submit and get that info done. So that's a plus. That's a plus doesn't like YouTube is going to be changing the algorithm at suggests what videos use your should look at next in order. The idea for that is to reduce recommendations for videos that promote conspiracy theories and false information. The Google owned company said in a blog post Friday, we will begin reducing recommendations of borderline content and content that could misinform users in harmful ways such as videos promoting a funny miracle cure for a serious illness, claiming the earth is flat or making blatantly false claims about historic events like nine eleven. However, while it seeking to stop recommending problematic videos YouTube will not be removing them from their site. They've made similar promises before. Seems like it was about a year ago. They did one. But a Washington Post investigation last month found that YouTube continued to recommend. Conspiracy filled videos bigoted videos across their platform. So, you know, whether it changes or not don't know. And I don't know. I mean, I go to YouTube, and I'm usually looking for something specific, and I rarely take their recommendation 'cause I kinda got a line of thinking. So I I follow my thinking rather than what they what they throw up there. Don't know if you pay any attention to the sag awards, but just a couple of the biggies Black Panther took home the night's biggest honors. Outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture, basically sags, you know, best picture award. That was the one that went to Black Panther Rami. Malik best actor for Baheen rhapsody. Tv side the marvelous MRs Meisel pulled off a hat trick. Outstanding performance by a male outstanding performance by female outstanding performance comedy series. So they got pretty good stuff..

Because FOX there was a slot open. There's only like six motion pictures in this NPA FOX's done. There was a slot open and let in Netflix. It's fucking crazy. So anyways, I liked this collection of, you know, Archie Roma's entirely in Spanish, this is a foreign film. And then you've got a Baheen rhapsody and Black Panther at the other and knew about a four language from being nominee. That's true. That's true. But this variety this ranged here. Okay. We have you know, we have a musical. Yeah. We have a lot of political shit. Yeah. We got a political grow Mantech tragedy. Yeah. So we have you know, it does we have a historical piece on vice president. Right. So there's a lot of different things going here. Some more serious memorial lifting. So it's interesting that the grouping is is so deep it's very unique set of of pictures. Now, what do you think by Pantelis should legitimately with everything that besides best picks him sign original score? For an Oscar, bro. That's crazy. How crazy I think? Yeah. It's dominated. I don't think it should win. But I love that. It's up there. This is a huge move for this John Ryan who would have thought, you know, marvel ten years breaks fucking barrier yet. It's a superhero picture nominated for best forgotten. I mean does it legitimize them though? I think the dark Knight was one of the ones that legitimised everything when that movie came out, it was okay. This is not only a good comic book movie. It's it's a good crime move out here. Yeah. But I think it does legitimize a bit more in the eyes of mainstream audiences like, we know it's legitimate, but audiences of the ones that are paying billions of dollars for it. That's true. I know it's fucking do. I don't get it. There's some younger people. Now, they're younger in up their whole us. I think could beat out Disney in Pixar again, avengers Infinity war nominated for best visual effects. I think it should get that one also except for the floating heads. Well, there only that does stick out as some bad shit and Infinity war. Is it better though than the affects in? I think is ready player. One ready player. Because that yes, you know, what I bad third act really does hurt the experience of the movie, it is what you are left with when when we get to the movie reviewing this week that the big part of the discussion is the third act. "Panther. Start over. Siemian rhapsody and a star is born he writes on. I I just don't feel comfortable throwing like almost every single person that I've come in contact with in the music industry has told me that my nose is too big. And then I won't make it directors of none of those films were nominated for best director and two of the best retro nominees are the directors of of Roma which net movie that didn't report any grosses, but they're extremely low. Handful of theaters became time. Bradley Cooper, did not be nominated shocked a lot of people storms. Born is one of the has long been a favorite to win best picture and to really be the big winner at the Oscars this year. So it was very surprising to see movie, that's a that's a favorite at the Oscars. Overall tonight, even get a best record on national. So in your article, you suggest that we take a close look at these lower grossing films connected with the best director category to perhaps figure out, you know, which best picture nominees. Have the best chance of winning? These are the directors who did black klansman Cold War, the favorite Roma advice as you noted. I've seen only the favorite advice of those five. So tell me more about the directors here, including Spike Lee with black klansman, and what the prospects are now for the directors in that category. Sure. Well, spike leads a huge accomplishment. He's been a major force in in directing. I. Thirty years now, and this is his first timing nominated for best director. So it's a really big deal for him. And you know, black klansman is very well liked in Hollywood again, extremely good reviews. And you know, it would be amazing recognition not just of a movie of his career if he were to win in enroll now, you have a director who's one before onto Koran he won for gravity. But this is a Netflix movie that, you know, the vast majority of people virtually everyone has seen it seen a streaming on their TV or other digital device, you know, have very very limited theatrical release, and so it's kind of. Would really say something, you know, this is the we're supposed to be about honoring Moody's movie going, and this is this is a moody. But it's not a movie that you see in a movie theater. And so that would be a really kind of transformation of the way Hollywood thinks about movies Oscars. Think about movies if they were to honor Koran for this film, perhaps you'll win best record. But they won't give it a picture because you know, it is well, well, well like film, and he's a well like director, and I think it's a great movie by most people have the nation. So they're really grappling with what to do with it. And then in Cold War. You have the film. That's really well liked it got rave reviews, and you have a director not well known here, but you know, by spice, let's say he's they're very well known and respected then Fritz? So the Wall Street Journal with this weekend's Jim Cesco, it's thirty minutes after the hour on this weekend. Com. We believe a good night's.

Played his obvious condition. Well, the funny thing about that is like, no, no, no. He's literally dominated for best picture. He's uncanceled. Like, what is I feel like we have to do could do campaign on Bryan singer because he has some sort of fucking. Here's some nether world Rune where just like like literally everyone knows like the guy we talked about who calls the avengers the adventures knows that Bryan singer. You know, he's on that cheese pizza shit. I'm trying not to get sued. But yeah, what kind of things? Yes, that he might also some people who are even more powerful than you might be only. That's that's sounds better. That sounds all right. I just want your country and take that make the case that Baheen rhapsody is a good film and should not be judged by any merits outside of the film. Okay. Okay. Good film. Okay. You know what it's about? Yeah. Yeah. What is it? About course. I do. Well, what's it about? All right. So once upon a time in England there is a boy. Born in his aim was Freddie Mercury. And though he was named after the second plan from the sun. He was everything that was great about earth. It is life. Yeah. He wrote some songs he wrote songs about big asses. He wrote some songs about guys who were champions did nonspecific sport. He wrote the other fucking Queen song. But then he had a vision. And it was you know, he smoked the most powerful drugs available to him in the seventies. And it was by our standards mids. And he lower than Gloria. You could smoke in the seventies was like came into like a brick and it looked like sand. It literally had it literally head Barak from. And that's actually what I to. Story. And he came up with this story, the story of the bohemian rhapsody in it's about a child who shoots somebody, and then tells his mom don't worry about it might want mind your business. I'm busy his mom's knocking on the Starbucks bathroom. What busy then he calls out to earliest Rodham or Galileo for some reason, and then dances, some other bullshit and people in the seventies who smoked even lower weed than the sub mids that, Freddie. Mercury smoked. They cried they killed their parents. They had grossed groups ex their genitals. All look deflated doodoo the types of hormones that were in food in the seventies. That are different from the hormones now that Bimbo fi everybody, and then he died, and that's the story of the bohemian rhapsody. And if you can't take a lesson from that and apply it to the age of Trump. You're basically a fucking idiot. You're absolute fucking moron. And you shouldn't even be allowed to watch movies that were filmed in color. You've only earned, you know, three stooges and Buster Keaton and the movie where the French guys fucked the moon with the rocket. It's all your deserve. It's not for you, the bohemian rhapsody isn't for you your fucking nothing. You're nobody. You're fucking idiot..

Yeah. Giving it's amazing. It's remember that both black clansmen and Black Panther came out early this year, and they're still holding there still memorable. So they're worth it. Baheen rhapsody the favorite green book Roma stars born in vice now, those are all best picture in. Very varied. I think the one thing that's important about the Oscars. Oscar nominations this year is the diversity is not great for women as such there are note women directors nominated, but there there are a lot of different stories told from a lot of different stamps that we wouldn't have seen otherwise, it's interesting. It's two years ago since everybody said that the cause was a whitewash. We know people sort of goes way, a new think gosh, someone says tokenism, it's I hate to say is that what's being happening been happening all the films that have been nominated genuinely was even omission at any other year Oskar history. Well, probably a little bit of both. I mean, granted they did kick a lot of people out that revoting hadn't actually seen films. And they were then they brought in a lot more that younger people people from different minorities and women have not a minority we must remember. So I think the voting audiences actually more with the world it's more with the the the the marketplace. I think that's important. It's a little bit more relevant which is on. He said, I mean, let's go back to black Pence. He says the first superhero film has been nominated for best picture pretty good superhero films in the post mucks. This one was being a good. We see. Okay. The Oscars are not a mirror talk. Crecy? They are basically all the mean. You know kids in school voting on stuff. That's how I see it. And the reason this is different is that they're finally allowing an entertaining film to come in an end from comic book sources new graphic novel sources to be in the best picture category. That's a very very serious category. It's about producing it. It's about development, which is major. So I think that's very very important. It's reflecting the popularity of of Oscars and ours used to be very very niche and popular films, particularly comedies were shunted. And so I think this is opening up a big big thing for the Oscars the make them more relevant. It's a pretty curious thing. Isn't it to know that we might actually go and see a film and enjoy it? Is that of watching films thinking, oh my goodness. Is that an Oscar winning performance that will watching you? Sometimes feel is says books to king going on in terms. If I look this way, I know I'm acting my way to to to to know, exactly. And it's always always like somebody who's struggling or have been raped or something terribly recovering. Which is not to say we shouldn't be interested in those stores. With what we always very much with what she won't person. The who's we did lie to. Rich Negron an actor who stood outside his flat that he rented thirty years ago in London and said, I paid thirty pounds a week. I think for one bedroom flat thirty six years ago, and here I am six to don't sing about having been given it'll nomination. Isn't it lovely to see someone who's genuinely over the moon? People love that. In fact, I think I retweeted that and also we had our critic circle awards on Sunday, and he also won the gong there. And I said I tweet I retweeted what he'd said. And I'd said this makes you a Critic's darling now, and he liked which was nice..

"Wasn't? I notified. I mean, I remember when when Al Gore said we only had like twenty years, and what what we're past that. And and and things are are fine. I'm not saying that you should burn tires in the middle of the road. I'm saying that things are fine. And they clearly clearly overreacted aggressively to the very idea of a global warming climate change, whatever it is they call it right now, we only have twelve years. What else like this is the war? This is our World War Two. Boy. Escalated quickly. I mean that really got out of hand fast. It's insulting World War. Two was World War Two. That was your World War Two as well as mine. That was the war that kept Germany from taking over the world that responded to Japanese aggression by crushing them to the point where they had to admit that their leader hero. He was not a God. Publicly, humiliating them. An embarrassing them. Till they said, please stop hurting us. Was your World War Two as well? This is our World War Two. You can't verbally that much. You can't you can't do it. But twelve years left. That's that's new that is that is just absolutely terrific, and rich, and and all all sorts of special right there. We're going to have some more on this and Tony cat today at eleven o'clock, and we're going to talk more about this this thing in in in Lafayette, this this gender-neutral locker room because it's it's more than just that top line something kind of interesting going on underneath. You know, when when people talk about the bathroom issues and who's using a bathroom. I do agree with the general principle. How you feel should not have an effect on. What is real? But single use bathroom solve problems. I'm a big fan. Well, this idea they've gotten Lafayette. Might be part of that. My question is is it efficient? So we're gonna get into it. Because I think when people hear about oh gender-neutral locker room everybody goes to their respective corner. And people don't get into a conversation about what's happening. I'm going to get into that. That's on turning cats today at eleven o'clock as the shutdown now. No end in sight, absolutely, positively no end in sight have. I do I have any issue with a border wall. Offense angels. Absolutely not. And rationally we know that America doesn't the people who have the issue. It's not that they oppose the actual physical barrier. It's that they have not come to any place on whether or not they accept the idea of a border. And also the Oscar nominations are out. Of course, vice the attack on former Vice President Dick Cheney is. Is nominated for best picture. Of course, it is also nominated for best picture Black Panther black klansman. I guess you have to have blocking the name. But he mean rhapsody the favorite green book Roma star is born as I said vice lady Gaga also nominated for an actress leading role for a star is born Melissa McCarthy for can you ever? Forgive me. Then you've got actors on leading role that'd be Christian bale for vice Bradley Cooper stars born Rami molecule, or is it was it Ramey is Remmy for Baheen rhapsody, which I could see winning Vigo Mortenson for green book could one. But then he was having a conversation onstage and used the N word in context to a question that was asked and then was told he was a racist. And well, that's that that's over. That's absolutely positively. Over. We'll get into this as well at.

"In this podcast. We will offer a subtitled version. Don't worry it. Hopefully, fine, then please get in touch or just anyone I think this could be my new thing film podcast, but with football people if I'm going to call it that Chris you it's film podcast brackets. But with football people I'm going to start with Alex McLeish. So that'll be something feed. Listen to in the future. Meantime, let's talk about moving news last week. We had a positi or earth if you will of moving news. But this week we have the opposite problem. Hollywood is back is wide awake. Now. And we have a surplus of movie news, and we should probably start. Normally I would afford to Golden Globes leave respect they deserve have a bit of silence and then just move on. But actually the Golden Globes. Are we're talking about I think this week. Yeah. Let's start with the good stuff. Vehicle. Mun winning golden gopher the favor up for the BAFTA for the happy happy day because she's wonderful and everyone loves her down with that. And then there was the rest of it feels like a lot of the acting winners of the Golden Globes were fine. It was more. When you go to best picture, of course, divided two categories to give themselves a better chance of looking like, they can predict the Oscars, which they in fact cannot so we got two winners a green book and bohemian rhapsody. Yes. And book was in musical comedy. Despite I haven't seen it yet. But I understand is not really a comedy and musical an embassy Mian rhapsody was in drama, even to it would fit more accurately in musical, and certainly. In comedy. But do you think this means Bahamian rhapsody, which is a movie that I, you know, I'm not a huge fan of shall we say, you know, like, I said, I liked the music and Rummy is very very good in it. But everything else is a bit lifetime TV movie of the week. Isn't it really? But yeah. Do you think that this is thrown Baheen rhapsody into the race for Gulf forbid best picture could go the other way? I mean, you had the situation of years ago where Argo lost either the Golden Globes and bended very very, well, the Oscars. And there was a perception that they saw as a snob at the Globes and therefore corrected it for the Oscars. So it can sometimes it work the other way, I think it's a weird year. Actually, I would personally give practically everything to Bill street could talk. I think it's nuts when we get to the BAFTA nominations. I think it's completely Nasi that Black Panthers and up for costume. So I might not give that one to bail street, but practically everything else it's weird. That's barely in the car. Sation early front runners, you know, things like I mine have just completely full in two aside with the pulse exception of clarify who I think is still in with Chan's, especially the BAFTA on home turf. Not seem strange main. That's a nothing role. Really? Isn't it is she does a lot with in an understated way? She does it is a very slight role. I think she she does make the most of it. And she is up against supporting actresses who are really the lead actress, Emma stone. So that is interesting because they clearly made a decision have any with the Olympic Holman thing that live your Coleman is the best actress from the favorite and then Rachel Pfizer. Emma stone who have way more screen time. Yes are the supporting actresses interest around. Yeah. People make money based of this field..

"Winner is green book. Okay. So I am not going to try and translate with that. Oh, God, man. Trying to translate Bill Murray. I do know Greenberg has been criticized for its portrayal of the black concert pianists. Donald Shirley, his family says the movie doesn't reflect his story. There's been criticisms of the politics of the film Aisha Harris. Are you surprised? I'm not surprised just because I do think that this kind of plays into a lot of things we've seen in the past that voters tend to go for it has photo progressive tone to it about the way in which race can be overcome by just becoming friends with the person of another race. And I think Peter ferrelli the director his speech compounded that last night when he talked about how we all have something in common, and we should be able to get over these things. I don't think that helped his case. But I do think that that probably played into a factor of why it won the second film that did well last night was Baheen rhapsody, which is about the band Queen. It had to cut ties with its director Bryan singer before production. Ended he has been accused of sexual misconduct, and he made a statement of sorts right after the winners were announced Linda tell us what happened. Well, he had a picture of himself that he posted saying, you know, thank you for recognising me. And he's sitting in a director sheets really unusual to have the lead actor in a film, ROY Malik in this case except in award for his lead performance, and the film except for best drama picture, and nobody mentions of the director, right? And he sort of drew a line under it by making this kind of public comments share dead on a more positive note. Actress Regina king won best supporting actress for her performance in the film, if Beale street could talk and she went up on stage and made a pledge that women would make up fifty percent of her productions for the next two years. Anyone out.

"Time to prepare your eardrums for orgasm. Number two. Apparently a star is born with snubbed at the Golden Globes. Nobody cares about the Golden Globes though. And I did hear that shallow won best song. It did it did. Specifically, it lost best picture comedy or musical or whatever. They have weird. Gory headed to the bohemian rhapsody Queen dot movie, which by all accounts is a terrible movie having seen both movies. I am insulted. That is the I have yet to see the Queen movie. I'd like to see in the Queen move as I said, I enjoyed it. And I will enjoy it was a store that I've read not only from critics, but from friends is that it's just it's a bad movie. That's entertaining. But it's a bad movie. And people generally thought overwhelmingly thought store stars warrant is an excellent movie. I just I will say this Golden Globes, you're lucky because if you hadn't given shallow best song, or whatever you probably have a weird name for it. That makes everyone wonder why it's the name that you chose if you hadn't done that. I'd be making threats right now. I would I'm not gonna make them because this is an audio recording. And it'll hold up in court, but I would have been making threats. So you're luck. You gave shallow. It's good and proper, but you need to give. More to a star is born fucking bootleg. What's it called Baheen rhapsody was all right? All right. It was all right. But it was not worthy of winning anything in any. Award show over stories more. Hey, MacGill's pots petty Zepeda the pet. "A lifetime. I love you you beautiful, man. This is four and because of you gorgeous. Malik there who played the lead role in the Queen bio-pic bohemian rhapsody. It was a night of surprises at the Golden Globes the awards show often seen as a clue to which actors actresses and movies could win an Oscar was held last night. And right now, let's break it all down the big winners with entertainment. Tonight's Nancy Odell good morning. Good morning. Our you were you surprised at how many awards bohemian rhapsody one? I I mean, the moody was incredible around the valley was amazing. I think that you know, people have been talking about his performance. So that wasn't such a big surprise. I think it was a surprise it. They rhapsody walked away with the best movie went again, it was very disturbing. But people have been talking about a star is born they've been talking about somebody other movies. So I don't think people expected it to win as many awards as it did. But again, very deserving other shockers like you said there were a lot of the prizes. Julia roberts. The Hollywood Foreign Press loves had big movie star, and it was a first small screen role and Amazon homecoming, but yet even though she had several moms. She don't walk away with anything and a star is born like I said that one and there was a big campaign around Bradley Cooper and lady Gaga and the movie itself. And yet they just walked away with best song when advice it was the most nominated movie, so we expect to its walk away with. Several awards, but yet Christian bale only won for best actor so a lot of surprises nasty surprises. I was gonna say one of my takeaways. It's amazing. How many of these movies revolved around your involved music directly? Whether it's green book about the travels of a musician, obviously Baheen rhapsody, and then of course, the star is born that was one of my takeaways too. But also when I wonder from your perspective, it seems like there were some very substantive movies this year as well as do you feel the same way? Yeah. Very much. So I mean, greenback definitely being one. And I was glad to say that one. A lot of words, I was one of those movies where you watch it. And it's one week. That's that's classic movie that you can watch year after year, and it's just had such a great message. And it's one that just seems like it's timeless. Yeah. If this is seen as a primer for the Oscars. Do you think we'll see either bohemian rhapsody or green book win best picture at the Oscars? I think they're definitely going to be. There's no question about that. And I think the Romney valley incredible chance. Walking away for the best actor, I think that you're gonna see a lot of the same people nominated. I'd like to see Bri the private great chance. He did such a tremendous job as both director and actor and a star is born said I'd like to see him there as well. I'd like to see him get some kind of award this award season. I thought he did such a tremendous job. You know, they go to love the you just can't tell there's a lot of different voters. Sometimes they're a great predictor. And sometimes they're not. So it just depends on the different year. They've never kinds of voters. So a lotta times and sometimes not it's hard to tell entertainment. Tonight's Nancy Odell, you're you're a good one. We've glad we picked you to be on with us. Thank you. That's good to talk to you guys had a statue. Five time now for money.

But a little movie called a capex Zarin Kevin Spacey. That's something. AM Arctic Cheney. Andy San Burg, actually, who's the host. Sandra hosting right syndrome. They're hosting Golden Globes on NBC will renew something coverage wise, not what not sure what to do yet figured which is run down the nominations. Maybe make a pick. Maybe who we think should win or who will win up to you decide what you wanna do. I'll run down the nominations quick. We haven't had a chance to do this. We'll make this a long segment best film drama stars born black clansmen to feel streak could talk Black Panther Baheen rhapsody. I'm going to stars born. I think it's gonna win. I think it should win. What about you guys? I think I seen all these movies, except for feels street could talk I think that one's been getting great buzz. So I might might pick that one once I see it because that seems like something I really enjoy. But out of these in terms of what I enjoyed the most stars born. But I don't seems like a really bohemian rhapsody in this crop. I think is outrageous because it just wasn't a good movie drama. Yeah. It. I don't know. The black klansman definitely deserves to be in there. I Black Panther is. I think deserves to be in there. I think that's an interesting pick. I still getting used to comic book movie being in a best motion picture drama category for someone who's thirty four. It's hard to get just to that. Because I'm so used to know them having like. And some French language bullshit like up there every year. So kind of cool. Yeah. I think my gonna be with Jeff has say stars born just two hundred hype around it, even though it is the second remake of the movie, and it's the same piece of plot points around just think what they were able to do that was really cool. And I think that this is one of those movies that film critics love even though it may be there's better movies that come out this year. Do I think it should win? Maybe not. But I think it will. Let's move on best film drama. Actress lady Gaga Glenn Close. The wife must McCarthy. Kenya? Forgive me. Nicole Kidman destroyer and Rosamund pike a private war. I think this is a shoe lady Gaga though, I might pick McCarthy for my favorite. She was incredible and Kenya. Forgive me. But this this one should this'll be a shock lady. Got a win. I think lady Gaga will win. But I would love to see milk Melissa McCarthy when here in her revenge tour member Tammy remember, the college movie, I just did. Oh, yeah. Well, now, I'm on the road to the Oscar to good point Melissa McCarthy. A woman I still don't think that lady Gaga was decorated job in stars. I think obviously the singing was incredible like Oscar where these, but the actual acting. I don't think was really there especially in three dramatic scenes, you know, when like he sort of relapses and like can in he makes fun of her.
