"Hey in this program is one of only a few in the country that exist and we receive some funding for that but it is a it's you know a lot to run that mammogram and so the manager of that program has been doing an awesome job reaching out she's invited all the folks to come and tour begin how cool just have one of the new council members there the mayor came in to go to war and they were very impressed with all the work so she is you know really excited about hopefully creating some opportunities to become supported by yeah and then also every year they go up to the General Assembly and they do advocacy work and write letters to all of the folks on the hill and send information about you know why brain injury services and supporting brain injury services programs are important for the community because it's not something that a people realize but Joanne make you so who is the program director she'll say everyone is literally one horrible unexpected accident away from a brain injury well yeah and the services are there for people when they leave the hospital wow you really and they really make a concerted effort to kind of give back to the community where three individuals that are there that every year throughout the year they go and speak at the local high schools well and they talk about their life before the injury and how they acquired it in this is kinda like a lesson learned and wake up call for the young kids and not make some of the repeat some of those mistakes that they yeah yeah I mean even something as simple as my daughter got a hover board for Christmas and thinks that she doesn't need to wear a helmet and like actually what you can fall and you can get a brain bleed and there's your traffic brain injury like you've got to you got to be careful so they deliver about I think I have this number right ten thirty eight hundred presentations a year this team why go to like twelve different high schools and they deliver it two or three times and each high school multiple weeks so that by the time they finish the school year I think all the kids in one grade have seen this program and it's really powerful I mean they have kids come up to them afterwards and hug them and thank them for that what they shared and it's emotional to talk about this it was a personal thing that happened to them and I think the kids see while this was someone that looked just like me and was just like me and bam here they are five years later in a wheelchair or you know re learning how to talk and while doing really awesome things though is very impact what I'll tell ya I I took the we do an annual report and we have all our programs in the annual report so my picture was in there with war you breach and I'm showing this to my kids and on the page adjacent to that was the beacon house crew to go and as the the presentation on it right away they started talking about I remember that guy on my and their whole stories a so I yeah and I've I've made sure I shared it with Joanne how impact what it was and this is two years after I had graduated high school oh my goodness wow so that it makes yeah not about you was about the other people in the photo that's right well that's incredible I intend you did mention warrior bridge there something cool happening with that coming up well first of all were you bridge you know what makes worry breeze unique is that you're really focus on veterans with disability is sick yes I am as a person centered type case management approach worm I'm meet the battering where he or she is and and assess what their need is primarily for employment but they may not want to go to work they made that they may not realize it they have educational benefits that they haven't tapped into and so they may need to apply for a home service connected disability compensation so this so is a holistic approach and and so that's what I try to do and I pride myself in that the new thing that we're doing is an initiative called wheels to work program Nishida were we took one of our vehicles than we usually what auction off we hand pick the vehicle and the we have decided that we're going to give that vehicle to a veteran who needs wheels to work wow and actually we presented that to one of our veterans this past Friday and we're pretty ecstatic about the results of that yeah so we had application process we kicked off veterans day we ran it through the end of the year and we accept applications wow and it wasn't like a three line application like they had to write a lot and fell and provide a lot of documentation and Tim put together a selection committee full of just awesome people that work in veterans services community locally and they sat around a table and really had a hard time they have set out and conversation I was I haven't tell us about the liner and how did you end up on that winter the selection committee came from like Mary save various organizations who have a passion with working with veterans and also were very knowledgeable with Karen ASEAN through you know yeah you know what we were the greatest impact we wanted to make sure that the veteran had a car wheels to work but we also want to try to to pick someone where we could actually see a great impact yet as owner family as well yeah you know so many times we take for granted the convenience of jumping in a car and going back to the grocery store or something we forget that yeah or your child may need medicine in the middle of the night you're on so if you don't have a car you can't do that and so is a greater impact than just getting to work so it actually boil down to to the individuals we even went as far as call them on the phone S. further detail questions while and I think the the person that we chose was a young lady who it came into my office about a year ago she was five days out from being homeless with three kids and a grand keyed week through the the relationships I have with other veteran organizations we got her some housing she acquired a job wow and the only piece that was missing was the you know transport car yeah and so we have to feel that and this is a person who has went from within a year from rock bottom to now kinda doing her thing and we're very proud of her because she has is taking advantage of all the benefits this yarn and so I'm really proud of her for doing that and so if it was this is a great villain is a great story I mean that yeah it's German word it for people to know that it's okay to sometimes need help that's what people are here for and that's what people like temor here for and all the veterans services programs locally if you need help there's no shame and said you know what I need somebody to let me a hand right now and I don't know what to do and doesn't mean it's a hand out it means it's not to be too cheesy but it is a hand up it's like okay will help you find somewhere to let them help you figure out how to get these disability services or benefits going so that you have some cash flow will help you with some child Kerry but I mean they still have to do the work yeah absolutely and she did and every time she got opportunity took it and then took a step forward and you know the whole at the at the end result the whole mission is is self sufficient right now only provided by veteran opportunity to be self sufficient and improve their quality of life and I think we've been successful in doing that with our wills the work program that's awesome that's gonna be so rewarding for you guys that has heart work yeah yeah that's incredible so again Eggleston in studio with us this morning Mary McChesney she is the marketing director Tim Giles veteran service manager what else before we wrap things up on this Sunday morning would you like the community to know about at Austin you know we've covered a lot of things I you guys been around for sixty five years hopefully here for sixty five more but what is you know one thing that we would want everyone to walk away from listening to this interview today that some knowledge about Eggleston well I think it's important for people to just remember that we're here and that we're doing good work right here in the community we're helping your neighbors and your friends live more lives I'm just like you right so we like to say that we like to give people the chance to just live whatever their version of their best life is so if they.

"Is checking in problem. Pre K is a warning show continues. Now with Brian Sussman. Go the top of the news. You just heard Republicans. Against the tariffs. I get it theoretically. I can understand why you wouldn't be for the tariffs, theoretically could understand why you would be for the tariffs. I get that. That's a debate that is probably very worthwhile. But in the meantime, what are you gonna do? Come on congress. Come on. Republicans get your act together. I know Pelosi runs the house. I know Pelosi runs, the house, nothing you can do there. But here's the deal, folks. Mexico is bussing people. They're bussing people from their southern border to our northern border now. How is that helping us this is what I like the Republican plan that says wherever you are wherever you enter a country, that's where you that's where you maintain amnesty kind of like the way the European Union does. These people are being bussed from Central America up into the United States America, we had fifty five thousand kids, fifty five thousand children, which they claim to be children fifty five thousand people who claim to be children at our ports of entry last month. That's fifty thousand fifty five thousand people that are pretty much here. One hundred ten thousand people altogether last month, come up. We gotta do something. This is crazy. So there's that this morning, we have been rim. Remembering d day like no one else literally, you could listen to every outlet here in the bay area. We are remembering d day like nobody else, and we'll get back into our day commemorations in just a moment here on ks Afo. The meantime, the Democrats, don't want, they don't want to impeachment. Now they want prison for Trump. That's he Pelosi is saying we're not gonna peach him. We're just going to defeat him at the polls, twenty twenty. Then we'll put them in prison. What else did the Democrats want? Oh, here's another little story for you, Katie. This is over at the free beacon House Democrats passed a mass amnesty, Bill. Did you hear about this new House Democrats voted to pass a Bill that if entered into law would grant amnesty to two point five million people two point five million people? Amnesty, two point five million. We don't care how you got in here. We don't coach done since you've been here amnesty. They also blocked a proposed change to the Bill from Republicans that could have helped reduce illegal immigration by funding border crisis relief to the tune of four point five billion. We're not even talking aboard a while just border crisis relief as they call it. Oh. And they've got a fanciful name for this, too. It's called the American dream and promise act. Jeez. The American dream and promise it will create a path to citizenship for three distinct groups of illegally resident individuals who have heretofore been protected from deportation by separate government programs. Fine. That, you know, we, we had this story about, you know, your we're talking about all these people coming up from the southern border. We have had more measles cases this year than we've seen in twenty seven years. We have a thousand cases already just in two thousand nineteen picked up at our southern border. That's an epidemic. And you know it is an epidemic. And for those of you listening in, there are many of you who immigrated to this country legally some of you listening, I met you I hear from you. You to this country legally from Mexico. You have great into this country, legally from Latin America large, maybe you came here legally from Asia. For europe. All over the world. And you're listening to this program. Don't you feel ripped off? I mean you did things the legal way you did things the right way. Some of you were placed in detention camps, some of you were placed in, for example, I'm thinking of friends of this program who are from Vietnam, man, you left Vietnam. And you were placed God knows where hoping that maybe maybe you get the call to come to the United States of America, right? Some of you listening from the former Soviet Union, you were praying that you might be able to make it into American you did everything properly, by the book. And for what now you just got people sneaking across and they here, then they got diseases. Diseases disease would have prevented you from coming into this country, you know, that he would have been vetted. Well, we'll continue talking about this here on case if oh, what else do we talk about this morning? Now, we're talking about YouTube, apparently YouTube is going to be cracking down on hate speech this frightens me because it's I going to be the kind of hate speech that we would all agree is, is hateful. But then it's going to morph into opinions, free speech opinions. That are rooted in fact, but they're not agreed upon by the higher ups YouTube, and therefore you'll be banned. This to me is frightening. I understand YouTube is a private enterprise. But there are a behemoth and they are now a major form of communication via their media outlets and their various offerings. So in the higher ups YouTube decide we don't like what you're saying. It seems a bit hateful to me. I have a feeling that we're in for some big, big trouble. It's like the book nineteen Eighty-four coming to life. And if you've ever have it read nineteen Eighty-four read it. And if you haven't read it for a long time, reread it because you're going to be saying, whoa, this George Orwell fella. He really knew what he was talking about be leave a bowl. Next on the program. Well, by the way coming up, we'll have James Hurson. He's our guy down at Hollywood. We'll be talking to Jim a little bit later in this program. Donald Trump d day. Addressing the crowd. This was at the Normandy, American cemetery. He was honoring the thousands, who fell during that pivotal invasion. Seventy five years ago, described some of the highlights of the battle on the beaches of France, Donald Trump. Cut, please, unrelenting fire from these bluffs kept the Americans pinned down on the sand now read with our heroes blood. Then just a few hundred yards from where I'm standing. Breakthrough game the battle turned, and with it history for those of you who have ever been to Normandy. You know how moving an experience it is. Donald Trump's they're talking about it in this clip. This is cut be President Trump credited all the troops, who fought Germany during World War. Two cut be please. They came from the farms of a vast heartland. The street soon. Glowing cities in the forges of mighty industrial towns before the war, many had never ventured beyond their own community. It's true. I mean these were farmboys ranchers kids that live in the city and quite frankly, poverty, because we were having the great depression. Donald Trump reflected at some of the hardships of the battle at Normandy, cut see. It was here that tens of thousands of the Americans came the GI's, who boarded the landing craft that morning knew that they carried on their shoulders, not just the pack of a soldier, but the fate of the world for goodness. Here's Theresa May. The British Prime minister, she was also speaking, and she said we can never repay the troops, who risked their lives for the cause of freedom cut d could be sitting while the sixth of June, would bring no one would know how this the most ambitious fists and Ebel assault in all of human history, which turn out. Faye not fun rose that morning. Not one of the troops landing craft approaching these shows not one of the pilots in the skies above not one of the Sade. Is it see new whether they would still be alive when the sunset once again, it's true? Just true. That I guess, the closest thing we could probably experience to realizing, what would down was the scenes from saving private Ryan. At least that's what guys who were there say. So you go from that, right? You go from all of this. Rich history and bravery. And the day that changed history for the world. Seventy five years ago today, the battle of Normandy, and the defeat of Nazism. And then you've got people like Nancy Pelosi questioning the president's oath to serve literally. How many how radical is this? Here's Nancy Pelosi cut g listen to this. He's a great grief and sadness and pain in our country about the behavior of this, president of the United States, calling Russian assault on our elections Hoke cut it off. You know what, really this, this deserves better than that? I'm making this a Pelosi Friso. That's it done. You thank you. They're just so you know, they can't take me back that there they lost the election, and that he's changing America for the better and most Americans would agree. It's for the better and Obama didn't change the country for the better it did you see the right acting like this, like sore losers? No, no, no. We were gearing up for the next election. Just stick it. Okay. How could we do this, and we had an unlikely we had an unlikely numb nominee, Donald Trump. Who is paying off in spades? I mean, I had no none of us had any idea that this man would be relentless that this man would play smashmouth football and go after them and have all of these victories. That'd be Brett POS. L was just on the program a half hour ago, and he's from the media research center, and he listed off all of these accomplishments of Donald Trump and even Katie and I are sitting here with our jaws, dropped because half the stuff he was bringing forward. We had either forgotten about or didn't know about. So there you go on K SF. Oh, it's fifteen past seven..

"Tweets. Tweet tweet. Oh. Earlier. We we read you the tweet about how other people are writing books about what he should be doing. And he ended that tweet by saying I take back. I sit back I look around. And I say, gee, I'm in the White House, and they're not which I just made me laugh. Just after that. He did he did he's done a lot of tweets morning. But just after that he did to tweets in a row. The first one was large sections of wall wall is in all caps every time. He he uses the word large sections of wall have already been built with much more either under construction. Herb ready to go renovation of existing walls is also a very big part of the plan to finally after many decades properly secure our border. The wall is getting done one way or another. He's up. He followed that up immediately with a tweet. Let's just call them walls from now on and stop playing political games. A wall is a wall. All right. Okay. All right. I actually, okay. That he laid it out. I mean, I actually, but it's a it's a it's a physical barrier. I know this this has been the sticking point. Right. It'd be maybe we call it a fence, right? But this has been the sticking point. I mean, I really, and I've mentioned this many times that I felt like it was appealed to the base and helped him win the election. I felt that the constant referring to it as a wall didn't end up benefiting him because they just everybody just get stuck on that you just get stuck on wall. You don't you don't. He Nancy Pelosi gets to play this little game of look we'll fund border security, but not a wall, right? And is the difference. He moved over to physical barrier. He changed the the way that he was describing it right to have a be a little bit more nuance because it is it's not a wall in every location some locations. It is a physical barrier. Other locations, it's an actual using technology to be able to to to to keep an eye on certain areas, where a any type of infrastructure just isn't feasible all that being said, I kind of appreciate the fact that he's like, let's just call it a wall listen to stop because the other way wasn't working either. It didn't matter. It doesn't matter. What he calls it. So I'd rather just stick with wall. And just leave it at that. And make that be the all purpose phrase for border security of what we're looking at. Because you know, I was wrong in thinking that being nuanced and being specific and getting away from wall was actually going to make a difference for the left. No, no. Because it's not about like, I've said a million times is that old shut down this whole standoff. It's not really about border security. It's about beating Trump. Yeah. That's all. That's all. This is about there's not letting Trump get a win. That's Nancy Pelosi's entire mission as speaker. And it doesn't matter what the issue is whether it's border security, whatever it is. It doesn't matter if they think that passing something might give Trump something he can laud celebrate brag about or or make his supporters happy are simply not going to do it. Nope. I mean, it's all about twenty twenty. That's it. Free beacon House Democrats yesterday rejected a Republican proposal to add a provision that would block federal employees who were disciplined for sexual misconduct to receive the same pay raise as the rest of their colleagues. Republicans attempts in seem like something that would be all that controversial. No, no. The the Democrats want to give every all these federal employees a pay raise your point six race. They wanna give them a two point six percent raise Republicans offered a proposal or an amendment to that proposal disciplined saying if you have been disciplined for sexual misconduct, then you're not going to get a raise. Right. I mean, they should have gone so far as to say if you've been disciplined for sexual misconduct, you're out bright. But they didn't is it. You're not going to get a raise. Got soundly defeated. Yeah. The House Democrats received support from seventeen Dem's, but it was rejected on two on to sixteen to two six vote, by the way names, like Angie, Craig, Colin Petersen, Alexandria, Cossio, Cortez, and Ilhan, Omar all voted against it. Yeah. Angie, Craig Collin Peterson AFC and and Representative John Omaha voted no they wanna give raises to people who have been accused of sexual not accused discipline discipline of sexual misconduct. Raises? Yes. To those why I don't know. Somebody should ask the McCollum is also on there. Okay. Also on their a spokesperson for House Republican leader. Kevin McCarthy slammed the Bill ahead of the vote to adopt the amend amendment on sexual misconduct. Washington democrat as Washington Democrats continue their ill-advised push for unilateral pay raises for federal employees, regardless of their performance Republicans continued to as Democrats to amend their legislation. Currently this Bill treats victims the same as their harassers. This makes no sense. Phillips, also appears to be. Vote. Yeah. Okay. All of the Minnesota Democrats refuse are struck down. A proposal that would have would have prevented those from getting disciplined of sexual misconduct from getting a raise all of Minnesota's Republican congressional representatives voted in favor. It was very much a party line vote. I mean, it was what was it? It was you mentioned seventeen seventeen Democrats voted. Yes. Two hundred and fifteen no one Republican voted no one hundred eighty nine Republicans voted. Yes. Failed to oh. Six to sixteen to give raises to people disciplined of sexual misconduct. Hashtag me too. Yeah. One member who opposed the proposal. This is not surprise Representative Tony Cardenas democrat of California. That was the guy that was sued last year by the woman who says he dragged he drugged and groped her. When she was sixteen years old. Is chaired the vote for the Democrats that must've been awkward and weird. That'll be it was it was. They just don't care. Clearly point drug to women in groped her. I mean, he clearly doesn't really have scruples. Well, but you know, you. Sense of right and wrong. Senator at all. Clearly,.
