9-year-old boy receives thousands of adoption inquiries after emotional plea
"Year old boy in Oklahoma, who's been in foster care for six years, has now had thousands of adoption offers after he appear on the news and said, quote He just liked to have a family. Jordan, who's been in the foster care system for six years, told the new station KFOR that he's desperate for a permanent home after his biological younger brother Grayson was adopted. So here's a clip from the original story that ran last week on Oklahoma News for it's no secret A family would be a dream come true. Jordan lives at a group home now, but would love a sense of normalcy in the unconditional love of a parent. Call Mom and dad or this Mom or his dad. I don't like a family to eat Mac and cheese together, right bikes together. And most of all, the resizing 40 is because I'm so I could have Like some people to talk to you Any time I need to a child just looking for his place to call home that man, we're so he has a biological brother, who was adopted your younger brother, younger and younger Kids get adopted quicker. But 5000 people have submitted now to adopt him into 12 hours since that segment area, So here's the thing and then I hope you don't think this is weird for me to say this if we take if we because again, this kid is getting noticed because he's been put on the news. What if local stations like they do the animal adoptions? Did kid adoptions and said, Here's this kid and they come to a little spot with a kid like this and the people could see it. He's obviously people being exposed and seeing that makes them feel and then you do things based on how you feel. I think if we just went And took our kids and I hate the animal comparison. But people do these adopted dog stuff all the time. Why would you not do adopt a kid? Here's the thing that I want to warn against someone being moved emotionally by something they see on the news and then acting on it and that he can probably Agree with me on this. Maybe this is more than just taking on like a You're not you're not adopting a dog or a cat, and then it's there's so much that goes into this and you got to really be in it for the long haul, And you have to know, even especially adopting an older kid. There's so many challenges you're going to face and you have to be up for it. My point is, though, maybe it gets people thinking about adoption. And then they go through the whole process when they see that I'm not saying you see this. Can you go get the kid But I'm saying what if you're sitting there? You're married. And either you can't have kids. You just want to get back like, hey, we should start evaluating if we want to adopt or not. Yeah, like this. I have conversation, putting kids and their stories out. Make people at least start to think about it. I don't think anyone should see it and go. I'm gonna get it tonight. But my point is, it starts to introduce you to the culture and then you start to learn. And then if you do learn and you are emotionally mentally ready to go, then you do it. Unless you're ever exposed to the idea. You never have the idea. It doesn't marry an adoption. Anything else? Yeah. No, I agree. But on TV some sort of exposure would be good to show people. But I just know after those thousands of calls, I guarantee you A lot of them. They're not ready. But what if two are my 20.1 of 5000 come in, and they're able to weed out 4998. And there really are two and two That would have never seen it. Had it not been for this kid doing the news. Amazing and of the Thousands. That may not be ready. It doesn't mean in a year from now or a few months from now, they might be ready, but yeah, I'm with you there. Yeah, Exposure to that would be amazing because they're so many foster kids. And kids that need adoption. It's crazy, Eddie. How do you feel? You have to foster kids right now. What's that Make you feel down man that breaks my heart? It really does. It's a great story, but you're both right to. You know, Amy's right about a lot of parents not being ready. You're right about about getting the word out. And that's why I like talking about it on air to because maybe it gives somebody kind of an idea whenever I talk about my journey. Of being a posture of foster parents, So hopefully we're doing the right thing here, too. But you're right. TV stations need to get this thing on on air. For sure. I mean, every month put a new kid out there. That's awesome. Let people see. Hey, this kid needs a home And then there may be one or two people that have been going to the process. They're like we're ready that can actually get that kid and exposure for anything that needs help. It's all about exposure. People don't know a lot of times that they can help until you show them what's happening and how you could get them involved. No other The story was pretty crazy. And by the way, he has two foster kids, two kids of his own. Amy's adopted two Children, too.

But I don't want those things to paint a picture of the now some cool guy with a degree from a fancy college who could have been whatever wanted you know. I'm a kid from a really small town in Arkansas Mountain. Pine Arkansas population. Seven hundred. Seventy two. Who knew that if you had wanted to be something in this world and achieve his dreams that he put in real hard work. He didn't have advantages. Although I'm saying he that's me feels little weird to say that. But you get it that I would have to fail time and time again and I have to get used to being rejected all along the way and someday someday after all these years and years of hard work and determination this person would be ridiculed by his peers and be dubbed an overnight success which is crazy but as I sit here before you today. I'm in my isolated studio tucked away in a corner of stairs in my house. I'm quarantine with a girlfriend. Who is ten times more attractive than me? And that's me on a good day that can be you one day but if you're thing where the girls are a guys or dressing up like furry animals rubbing together. Whatever your thing is I'm not going to judge you but if you want you can do it because it's a crazy world. We're living in right now. No doubt about it. The Corona virus pandemic is happening and it feels like the last time I left my house. Oracle was still on TV. Is that? It's been that long by the way for those younger number article. He was lovable nerd in the nineties. Tv Show family matters for those of you too young to him. What a TV. Is that big black box. I thought it missing your graduation ceremonies and that stinks. Like I hate that for you and I wanted to share with you guys a little bit of my story so you feel less alone because I hate that you can't do. What is a big part of our lives? Which is going through graduation but you can be stronger because of it. I promise you that everyone who has ever walked the stage before you had to overcome obstacles to get where they are and achieve their goals and maybe they're obstacles didn't come in the form of a global pandemic believe. There is some beauty in dealing with wrenches thrown. In your gears. You probably heard the phrase that tough times. Never last people do right. And that's true now more than ever as we wait for the world to get back to normal or whatever normal may look like you guys will be navigating in that road and you can choose to go on to a one or two ways. Feeling like life isn't fair because you don't have it easy like those before you or you can take it in stride. I realize that if you can get ahead of this out on top that you'll come out stronger than anyone in history. You'RE GONNA learn so much now you get to write your own story. They may cancel your graduation. They cancel every event till the end of the year. But they can't cancel your dream. They can't cancel you. Make yourself essential if you look back in history. You could find people before you who at one time. Were dubbed as being non essential while Disney was labeled unessential by the Kansas City Star. According to his editor he was fired because he quote lacked imagination and had no good ideas. Walt freaking Disney Steve Jobs. He was labeled on essential by Apple. He was fired by the company. He founded after one of his Apple. Products was deemed a failure in the eighties. Winfrey unessential TV station in Baltimore. Seven and a half months into her reporting job there. She was fired and reportedly told by a producer that she was unfit for television news. You're talking about three of the biggest successes in American history. All we're told is not good enough for you at one point and every successful person's career and probably more than that they were labeled on essential every person you look to and admire for achieving. Their goals has felt so many times along the way. And that's what I'm here to talk about. They too were threatened to being canceled but they didn't let us stop them. They made themselves be undeniable. They made their dreams and there are worth essential to them and then made it essential. Everyone else to my mantra for years has been fight grind. Repeat if you've ever heard that before I would suspect you haven't because I'm not famous like Hillary Clinton and Oprah or anybody else's doing one of these talks find grind repeat. It's easy to fight is saying something that you want to do and knowing you WanNa do it and having the passion to do it. That's just getting started. That is the fight. The grind is the everyday routine. It's the consistency tunnel. That is not comfortable because every day. It doesn't feel like you're getting ahead. Somedays feels like you're losing a step it's discipline and the repeat is resilience because you might not gonNa make the first time or the forty second time or my case in nine hundred thirty seven time but being able to bounce back and do it again. That's the repeat that's the fight the grind and the repeat until you get. It doesn't have to be a job. Could be family. It could be helping. It could be work. I wanted to be on the radio and TV my whole life. I knew that since I was a kid and it wasn't the people in my hometown. Ever Stop Me from achieving that dream. They just didn't know that dream could ever be accomplished because no one had ever seen had achieve a dream like that. It wasn't a reality kids like me. Didn't have that option of someday having a big fancy pants career like I have now the struggle daily just to get food on the table. Most people in my hometown worked at the Sawmill. The struggle was just have food on the table. So wasn't they didn't WANNA DREAM WAS. There is no room for a dream because you just had to give food it. Make sure the bills are paid. Even for me I was the first person ever graduated from High School in my family. The thought of someday graduating high school and going into college was never really in the cars thought of it but I knew if I ever wanted to get my dream job I would have to do just that. So that's why I made doing well in school. Such a priority. It was my way out of small town. There was divided by railroad tracks still to this day and systematic study hard. I had to get good grades. Sat's and act's add to land the jobs that were cleaning. The radio station convince the people that same radio station. That a Dorky guy with glasses could actually get on the air. All these really small steps happened way early by the way. I'm SORTA really small steps today. No it's really non-glamorous things that you're going to do. That makes all the difference in the world. I've been on the radio for over twenty years now. I have the biggest country music radio show in America because when ever had I'll be honest with you but I've only ever been able to get to the place where I am now because of all the really small steps I've taken all the adversity that I have been through and learned from in the chaos that I've been able to navigate along the way basically. It's my tool belt. I've used them as tools to craft my own dream. I learned and I'm not kidding. You that world is bendable you can create the world you WanNa live in but it does take work but again you can create the world you wanna live in. You can decide what you want to do. You can set those terms and you can go do it if you WANNA bad enough. You don't wake up one day and decide marathon you kill yourself trying but what you can do is wake up one day and go out and run a marathon and then decide to take a walk and walk leads to a job and that job works into a run and before you know it can finish. Line of the marathons happening now. Doesn't come quick. It doesn't come easy but if that's what you really want. There is no doubt that you can do it. But you don't get to that finish line without shedding some but sweat and some tears from all parts of your body along the way and bus. Where does not cute? I Dunno my girlfriend's got a nice little butts said no one likes to talk about their butts sweat. No one puts that on instagram. And I haven't been that a non funny way. Nobody puts the hard work on instagram really. Social Media's the trophy case so stop looking at other social media counts going man. They got it all figured out. I'm GonNa tell you the more they're flexing the less they got in reality. The hardest working people. I know that have great jobs and great careers and thinking big plans. They don't post that stuff that much. So stop looking at social media as basically a trophy case of all the things that haven't haven't gone your way or their way in life you crying in a pile of dirty laundry after not landing. That job you WANNA. Last Tuesday does not look good in a post post either. So it doesn't matter if you have the Octavia filter not or the hemingway filter. You're feeling right now because you're graduating you're going out into the real world and you don't know what the cost is to happen. You would've known anyway. I'll be honest with that. You want to know what's going to happen in the world anyway. You'd have been like what do I do? But on top of that. Fracking coronas here. Are you kidding me actually? I'm excited for you. Because with any struggle come so much learning for me. I went through a lot of crap to get where I am today and I used to look back and go. I feel sorry for that food stamp. Kid who's a little shorter than everybody else? Little poor than everybody else less athletic than the other guys who didn't have a mom who's an addict whose dad left. I felt sorry for that Kid. Does me right now back. I'm so happy that I had that struggle because now I'll go back to the tool belt. I have the fricken tools I have on my have all the tools. There's nothing in life right now. That's going to hit me that I can't take you know why because I've already been through it and going through hard times as Sucky as it seems sometimes is actually a really good place for to be because you're learning you're acquiring those tools so are you willing to go and sit through all the hard stuff to get what you want. Most people are. I'll be honest with you. Most people are People. Say they want it and then when it comes down to really wanting it. Most people want run a marathon a marathon. I haven't been in the work for that. Thanks that's crazy talk. Most people want to run a marathon. And they're like I one day but they don't ever put in the time I done a couple of triathlons when it comes to work. Most people want to be a big fan spans radio show talk to millions of people every day beyond TV right books. But it's all the stuff that you don't see that actually make that happen. It's the tiny decisions every single day when no one is watching you. It's not an instagram post. Its life and if you're willing to do that he can be whatever you want and I'm excited that you have a struggle right now because you're going to be smarter and stronger because of it now. I don't know if you're listening to these other ones. I haven't heard any other speeches that celebrities way richer and cooler demeanor giving and they may say they feel completely bad.

That's going to hit me that I can't take you know why because I've already been through it and going through hard times as Sucky as it seems sometimes is actually a really good place for you to be because you're learning you're acquiring those tools so are you willing to go in and sit through all the hard stuff to get what you want. Basically against stronger for later you just training for later. I know you can do it. You know you can do it. That's stuff dreams are built on all of your accomplishments all of your success. It's all built on stuff that people won't see remember that there should be a voice in your head right now and talking to you because going on and it may say to you to make it. Will there even be a place for my crazy dreams? Wants us is all said and done that. Voices the test because if you're starting to question and go. I don't know maybe that's not for you but if you hear that and you go yeah of course there. Is that what you're supposed to do? You found it. That's it this is all just the test a test that started once. Your life got flipped upside down. Take a minute just sit right there. I'll tell you how became the principal Cowbell era. It's okay to be upset that you're missing out on getting to walk across the stage. Nobody clapping all your family and friends. You should be sad about that. Take a minute. It'd be sad. That's okay and although it may feel like all your hard work will be for nothing without that moment. I'm here to tell you you're GONNA be fine. "Which is even more crazy moss on your bookshelf or your kindle got a couple New York Times bestselling books there and you know. I didn't make the last part of promise but I don't want those things to paint a picture of on some cool guy with a degree from a fancy college who could have been whatever he wanted. You know I'm a kid from a really small town in Arkansas Mountain. Pine Arkansas population. Seven hundred seventy two. Who knew that? If you WANNA be something in this world and achieve his dreams that he'd have to put it in real hard work. He didn't have advantages by the way I'm saying he. That's Philip Weird to say that but you get it that I would have to fill time and time again and then I have to get used to being rejected all along the way and someday someday after all these years and years of hard work and determination this person me would be ridiculed by his peers and be dubbed an overnight success which is crazy but as I sit here before you today. I'm in my isolated studio tucked away in a corner of stairs in my house. I'm currently with a girlfriend. Who is ten times more attractive than me? And that's me on a good day. That can be one day. But if that's your thing where the guys or dressing up like furry animals rubbing together whatever your thing is. I'm not going to judge you but if you want. You can do it. Because it's a crazy world. We're living in right now. No doubt about it. The Corona virus pandemic is happening and it feels like the last time I left my house. Oracle was still on. Tv is that it's been that long by the way for those of you to younger and burkle. He was the lovable nerd in the nineties. Tv Show family matters for those of you too young to what a TV is that big black box. That your mom and Dad would angle all the furniture in your living room towards and I know you're probably really gonNA make time dancing videos with your cat but are also sad. Thought Missing your graduation ceremonies and that stinks. I hate that for you and I wanted to share with you guys a little bit of my story so you feel less alone because I hate that. You can't do. What is a big part in all of our lives? Which is going through graduation. But you're gonNA be stronger because of our promise you that everyone who has ever walked the stage before you had to overcome obstacles to get where they aren't achieve their goals and maybe they're obstacles didn't come in the form of a global pandemic but I believe there is some beauty in dealing with wrenches thrown in your gears if I heard the phrase tough times never last people do right. I mean that's true now more than ever as we kind of wait for the world to get back to normal or whatever normal may look like you guys will be the ones navigate in that road and you can choose to go onto a one or two ways feeling. Life isn't fair because you don't have it easy those before you or you can take it in stride and realize that if you can get ahead of this they come out on top that you'll come out stronger than anyone in history. You'RE GONNA learn so much now you get to write your own story. They may cancel your graduation. They may cancel every event of the end of the year. But they can't cancel your dream can't cancel you make yourself essential if you look back in history you can find people before you who at one time. Where dubbed as being Non Walt Disney was labeled unessential by the Kansas City Star according to his editor he was fired because he quote lacked imagination and had no good ideas. Walt frigging Disney Steve Jobs. He was labeled on essential by Apple. He was fired by the company. He founded after one of his Apple. Products was deemed a failure in the eighties. Oprah Winfrey unessential by TV Station Baltimore seven and a half months into her reporting job there. She was fired and reportedly told by producer that she was unfit for television news. You're talking about three of the biggest successes in American history. All we're told as not good enough. It's not for you at one point in every successful person's career and probably more than that they were labeled on essential every person you look to and admire for achieving. Their goals has failed so many times along the way. And that's what I'm here to talk about. They too were threatened to being canceled but they didn't let us stop them. They made themselves be undeniable. They made their dreams and there are worth essential to them and then made it essential. Everyone else to mantra for years has been fight grind. Repeat and if you've heard that before I would suspect you haven't because I'm not famous like Hillary Clinton Oprah or anybody else's doing one of these talks find grind repeat. It's easy the fight is saying something that you want to do and knowing you want to do it and having the passion to do it that's justify getting started that is the fight. The grind is the everyday routine. It's the consistency tunnel. That is not comfortable because every day doesn't feel like you're getting ahead somedays feels like you're losing a step it's discipline and the repeaters resilience because you're not gonNa make it the first time or the forty second time or my case and nine hundred thirty seven time but being able to bounce back and do it again. That's the repeat that's the fight the grind and the repeat until you get it does have to be a job can be a family. Most people my hometown worked at the Sawmill. The struggle was just have food on the table. So wasn't they didn't want to dream. Was there is no room for a dream because you just had to get food it makes. The bills are paid even for me. I was the first person ever graduate from High School in my family. The thought of someday graduating high school and going into college was never really in the cards. That thought of it but I knew if I ever wanted to get my dream job. I'd have to do just that so that's why I'm doing well in school. Such a priority. It was my way out of a small town was divided by railroad tracks. Still to this day I had to work the system to study hard to get good grades on my sat's and act's add to land the jobs that were cleaning. The radio station convinced the people that same radio station. That a Dorky white guy with glasses could actually get on the air like all these really..

You're not gonna sign it or anything you just fight. And then she can tell everyone like, oh, Bobby bones wrote this fight. And then if you screw up produce them bad now just two laser off tattoos. Now, you know, there's no our do that cover it with something else. Head to I want to get rid of it. I would just go over it. Yeah. Do something else on top of it as a full band like the guy in rage. No, no. Yeah. Whole shoulder is like green. Oh, yeah. Is that what he did covers? No. But that's what I would do or you could just add foo fighters to think about that. Yeah. There's so many ways to fight for your right? So many things. Hey Kayla there Kayla, and how are you go? We're talking about you. I was just giving this note that you wanted to get me to ride on your arm. Is that true? I want a touchy that says fight, and I wanna get it like on the inside. Right. Above the elbow crease. You know, so above the elbow. Chris. Is that like near the by som? Yeah. And you want me to write the word fight. Now. Amy looked at my writing of the word fight. And she says it's pretty good. So, but I'm just saying, yeah, that's a deal. I if why win forgot about you. We appreciate you listen to the podcast, but yeah, that's deal I do. I saw watching Amy's stories yesterday. I was travelling back and forth Elian back in the day, which means four hours five hours, not an easy. Fly your crap get back on, fly, fly, right back. So I'm not complaining. I'm just saying I'm watching flip between museums. The story then talked to her because she's in Texas. Her dad who's going through radiating or you know what it is radiation and chemo. And I got added plus one. Sucky plus one man. Yeah, I know they're kind of like, you know what? Let's just go ahead and add is just just to be safe way. He's not here. I'm looking at it on an ipad. We we watch, but her story she's going. My daughter had to get ISS then school and I'm like in school suspension. Yeah, that's all I started on men and I don't really like watch people's in store and then just talk at the camera like I'll get people to do something. I, you see me. I don't really do a lot of talking to the camera. I just pick it up and talk it sometimes. I guess fats are really want to say, but I don't feel I would actually is that important where someone's going to watch fifteen seconds. I like look at a picture and go to the next thing. Yeah, so funny, I just had to vent we and I wash it all like, you got me. You hug me is a great story. It was like breaking bad. So I was watching it and she's like, my daughter got into the school suspension on like what I put my thumb as, I'd hit limits who she has to say. So apparently she had on leggings went supposed to. Yes, so and I got the full story once she got home from school, and I realized with the confusion was because I know she knows how to dress herself or school and what's allowed. And what's. Not well, she got. She thought it was Friday. NC. Friday is fun Friday where you get to wear, whatever you want. You don't have to wear whatever they deem like a uniform, which is like khaki pants or navy pants with a collared shirt. So she thought it was fun Friday and she wore her leggings and then they called me and they're like, yeah, your daughter has on leggings. So if someone doesn't bring some pants appeared for her, she's going to sit and assess for the rest of the day. And I was like, I like. Like I literally was like, well, I don't know. "So there's that jury that story yeah the one that chinaled prediction bobby bones will give american idol the ratings boost in these i thought it was a little too dramatic was like hello pressure first of all the shows doing wonderfully in the ratings it's not the same as season one two or three when there just weren't as many options netflix but secondly it's a little too much pressure like i knew that much you saw last night i don't think i let me look i didn't say any writings records well but i mean a lot of me for example i wasn't mentioned in the article is being someone that would be tuning in but i haven't watched american idol at all until last night when you were on you have because you know me i know exactly that's what they say here they list five reasons why you're going to be good for the show because you know you still have next week and number one he'll bring his fans with him to the show that's me shut out the beamers yes shouts them out then it says you got credibility for breaking artists he has a well known rags to riches story he's been where the contestants are and where they wanna be and then lastly they say you're like ryan seacrest or something yeah it does say the had there there are some things uncomfortable for me in that story for its he's for sure going to be the next guy.
