And whose tax dollars were passed through equal health alliance to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Remember them? So again, it says to predict program is the key to understanding the funding of Eco Health alliance and its work with the Wuhan Institute. Predict is a research funding program launched in 2000 and nine as a quote early warning pandemic system. Alright. Sounds like a good idea. Right, folks, We want that kind of thing. Well, here's the problem. Between 2000 and nine and 2019. The predict program funded the collection of more than 41 Day. Excuse me, 140 down. I screwed this up this way to 140,000 biological samples that contained as many as 1200 coronavirus is with the potential to cause human disease and pandemics. In that time period predict awarded Word and what $200 million in grants before the grant funding ran out and President Trump ended this program of the 200 million. This is amazing. Get a load of this. Get ready muffins toasted right here. Bagels big of the $200,000,063 Million. Nearly a third of all predict Grant funds went to the Eco Health alliance, which was working with the Chinese bad lady G. Zhang Lei, who worked in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Folks, uh, that's not a scratch off ticket like, Hey, I won 20 bucks 63 Million beans is a whole lot of dough. I don't care how rich you are. That's a lot of money.

What if Donuts Came to Life?

"Let's jump in and find out what if donuts came to life and went on a journey. To find toppings plus julie the mermaid. Have you ever wondered why a baker's dozen is thirteen rather than twelve on what if world just in case one comes to life now julie was a mermaid maker but fortunately she could turn into a human which made getting around the kitchen a lot easier. Her bakery sold all kinds of goods and a bunch of the breads. That came alive over the years helped to run a tall baguette worked the register. A dense old bank rolled fresh dough and a flaky. Crisan paced the floors picking up after itself and cleaning up. Everyone else's messes to let julia had never tried to make a doughnut before. She was reading directions as she fried the circle of dough in some hot oil and just when the donut look done. She plucked it out. Shook it off and put it on a paper towel now. it says. Make sure to add toppings before your donut comes alive and has an egg exist. Dential crisis bagel. What's an existentialist crisis. Who am i. Why am i here. What am i doing with my life cheese. I was just asking a simple question now. Trying to give you an example a law. Hey you i'm alive. What now looks like. She hadn't got the on fast enough. That donut had sprung up from its paper towel and was spinning around like a coin. Big alive is weird. Are you my mommy what's happening is you're crisis. Julia poked here. Okay little donut. I'm chewy my mom. No i guess that big clump of wet dough is your mom. It's he might. Dad that boiling. Oil's probably your dad. I'm not getting much from them. No you see. I didn't stick to the recipe. And now you came alive but i like being alive. Oh and i'm happy you're here we have to figure out something for you. The little donut was plain brown and had finally gotten dried by spinning itself around. Well he kind of looks like me. Can i talk to him. Of course said julie the mermaid

"Should bake your bagels folks. Big time people close to biden. Tell us he's feeling bullish. What he can accomplish. Biden loves the growing narrative that he's boulder and bigger thinking than obama. Did that statement alone folks. Do you should be sweating right now. If you're not start sweating. Quick also goes on this temptation to go even bigger senate. Republican leader. Mcconnell insists will create such a fisher between the parties and he compared it this week to a nuclear winter. The temptation for biden to transform the country that is so in media terms biden's ready to pounce stories remember democrats score screw up the stories never about the democrat the media so he's about the republican response to the story. Republicans pounce on andrew cuomo getting people killed in nursing homes. Never about cuomo but biden's about the paths biden's about to transform the country to the ugly justice league nightmare batman scenario. What's coming folks. Because if you don't know what's coming down the line you don't know how to stop it. Let me just go through the litany of things. I'm getting from my sources in some which are open source out there and you can on your own things that could be coming your way. If biden nukes the filibuster meaning. He'll need just fifty one votes in the senate to pass legislation fifty one votes. He has there are fifty democrats. Dan you said they need fifty one. That's majority yes. Fifty democrats fifty republicans. Kamala harris is the deciding vote. Commerce has more liberal than joe biden if they can hold their caucus together the democrats this stuff will all go through if they nuked the filibuster

Best Positions for the Cowboy's Free Agents in 2021 Season Draft

"Let's talk Cowboys on today's episode. I was talking about free agency. And and this is now the time of year to be talking for you to see if we're not talking about Dak Prescott and let me ask you if you could only because it's the Cowboys here and we're not going to get greedy. If you could only sign one position in free agency. What position would that be? Before so we're assuming that co-signed here or do I have to yes. Yes. Okay. So if I'm if I'm kind of like sweeping generalities one position, it's probably a cornerback. That's that's where I'm going. And I think that's where there's the the largest amount of options especially with the fact that both Judo and Jordan Lewis are departing and free agency. I think that's where the most shallow at the moment. I don't think there's like a safety that that makes you know, it makes me want to make a bagel. You know what I mean right now, like there's not that guy in this year's free-agency. So I'd probably go corner. What's yours free safety because there is that Gap there's lots of those guys. There's good depth of pool at free safety here with I mean Marcus May and John Johnson Marcus Williams, I mean Justin Simmons is my guy but I don't sure first of all he's going to he's going to make money and second of all he's probably not going to leave the Broncos, but I think there's four or five guys right now. 24 to 27 years old high high level free safeties that are probably gonna hit the market and that's that's without. You know, some of these other guys have the market inevitably because of Captain D's because the Caps going down but I'm not Corner would be second for me. I just think if there's one position to splurge and it's free safety cuz I like Trevon Diggs. I liked the Cowboys going heavy draft capital a first round pick in the corner position. So I think you can invest in in corner line back or defensive line offensive line in in the draft one position. I'm prioritizing it for you to be fifty. But I also like I wouldn't be mad if it was Corner either. Yeah.

Remembering musician and producer, SOPHIE

"We want to spend a couple minutes remembering pioneer music producer. Sophie who preferred not to use gendered or non binary. Pronouns died in an accident last week at the age of thirty four so fi did a lot of solo stuff but also collaborated with some pretty big names. People like vince staples is and charlie x and even mcdonagh here to talk with us about this loss and help celebrate. Sophie is sasha geffen. They wrote a book called glitter up. Dark how pop. Music broke the binary and they wrote a profile of sophie in two thousand seventeen for vulture sasha. Welcome thank you for having me. So sasha what do you think. It was about the music that sophie made. That was so uniquely appealing listening to sophie song as like getting immersed in bespoke universe where everything is tailored to be maximally sincerely pleasurable sounds great. It's like being in the opposite of sensory deprivation chamber it's like being in a sensory overload chamber but in the past most and i think it's like being in a place where you can perceive everything in touch everything experience everything i'm sensory level and also everything around you is also touching and perceiving you. It's like this exchange that feels really fluid and vibrant and alive. Neyla what i hear in the music is this desire to take the most irresistible parts of pop songs the most most delightful and fun elements in really clear out space around them. Zoom in on what made those sounds in those moments gesture so infectious. Because hank sophie recognized that there is a lot of power in the kind of music that can bring thousands of people together in a room. That can coordinate. People in that way that kind of ecstatic collective effort. Vinson's that happens. I think we can't really talk about sofi without talking about the fact that sophie's a trans person so if he was a trans person. How do you think that showed up in sophie's music something that it can only really speak to my own experience but ver- me something that's been part of the process of figuring out how to be a person who was trans is being really hungry for surfaces that kind of resonate with my core and that's what i here in a lot of this music is looking at the surface internalizing it and then reflecting it in yourself and becoming your own image in a way that is satisfying and rewarding. Obviously there's that line in takeda. Cry it just goes. You're inside his your best side. Which is like funny. I think i mean that song in particular kind of flirt so openly with like the sentimental or like the corny but but really lands it in its vulnerability is so. How do you think sophie would wanna be remembered. I think sophie would probably want to be remembered by people taking care of each other and looking towards joy and finding you know finding that opportunity to to dance again someday. Sasha thank you for sharing about sophie's joy and vulnerability and thank you for sharing your own join vulnerability appreciate yeah. Thank you so much for having me like. I said it's been helpful just personally to kind of like talk through some of the stuff you could do some processing. Yeah i mean it just. I think it's useful to talk to understand the great emotional sway that this music hold over a lot of us how powerful it was. And that's ounce

Interview With Dr. Stephen Porges

"Doctor porges. Are you there. i'm here yeah. I want to gush about you for a second because i am a giant fan of your work and the observations that you brought to light. I thought it was time we took your material to the public. Which i know is going to be a little bit of a task because it's very physiological and very technical but this is the future. Are we off line. No we're on. We're on the rock. I know it sounds like i'm not talking. Okay then go ahead and gosh yes. Dr borjas develop. Something called the polly vega theory. And it is that may not be a term that is immediately apparent what it means everybody. But he basically has shown how a part of our central nervous system that has been ignored for longtime or at least marginalized. Maybe at the core of understanding. How i describe this. How are emotional. Landscapes work I i came to work. Dr portas through alan shore. I may humble disciple of his work and his his work informed. Everything i do and he is backed by the Will be on in a couple of episodes to talk to you about his work But he has been able to show you know how the emotional landscape is built how the self is built and how this is a a. We've missed the fact that this is a bodily based experience and that the auto onomic nervous system sort of breaks accelerator of our system has been marginalized in our understanding of this thing. We call motions and feelings. Is that a good way to sort of bring it start actually going if you don't mind me dancing in spring it I actually Realized i finally realized that you were trained as an internist. And what i would say is to start this. I would say that. What i do is really the interface between internal medicine and psychiatry. Yes so You should find yourself feeling very much at home. With the linkage of the on a nommik nervous system to behavioral mental health disorders will and it. Maybe that's why you ended up in addiction medicine too. Because that's a similar crossroad You know it's it's very much you know medical. There's a lot of medical stuff going on. It's there's neurobiology that's completely out of whack there's interpersonal there's dynamic issues psychiatric issues but ultimately it is about the body and the body's relation to the brain and that is something that i think has been when people talk for instance talk. I'm getting off topic completely right away here but whenever hear people talking about you know Computers or artificial intelligence. I think wait a minute. Humans have this all other thing that they're embedded in that informed so much of what they're experiencing maybe it's all of what they're experiencing but it also informs what they're thinking how they remember things and how they process information. It's why there's things like intuition and why we have insights those actually our bodies creating those those sorts of moments. I suspect well. We are biological. I mean that's what we are and whatever we do whether it's art or music or social interactions. It's really based on our biology. And this tends to be you know marginalized this importance and as you've already realized that we live in a world that is very i'll use the term cognitive centric or cle biased. It's being the same thing that this little part of the brain that deals with our awareness and our alertness in our consciousness is the major role of our brain and it's not really To help our body run and the way. Our body is functioning also feedback and provides porto's of accessibility to different mental competencies. Well let's try to talk about the vagus nerve and what you observe to talk about the poly vegas theory. I by the way gave a lecture at the usc university southern california. I know where you are. You're at dr professor of psychiatry university of north carolina By the way you can find more information at steven porges. Pr ge's dot com and the book. Which will be on. Our website is the poly bagel theory. gave a lecture not university of southern carolina near you. The university of southern california which is our usc and I tried to tip toe into your material. It was interesting because I do think. I do use it so much. In terms of helping people understand. Emotional regulation and inter subjective experiences. And they were pretty receptive. I even wrote an exam question about it which is about basic theory based in a national in a format that we're all accustomed to talk about what you observe how you got into this. Well i i'll talk about the history of getting into it in a moment but i The theory is extraordinarily logically based. But it's also intuitive. So now you have this balance between really deep science and the history of neuro anatomy off the allergy in the study of evolution on one side and the other side. The intuition of it this is this is how we feel that we act and when you put those layers together suddenly demystify. The unusual experiences people have had especially those who have been traumatized health issues. how i got into. This is really backwards. I think We all get into things that interest us about feelings and trying to understand our our body but we often go into profession so i started off in psychology and i was interested in physiological markers or parallels of psychological processes with kind of a dream that you could put electrodes on people and you Understand a lot about them without talking to them okay so you could understand A lot about their physiological states. And as i started to do my work and this is actually several decades ago i started to ask more serious questions not Simply where there correlates or relationships between ordinary activity and talking to prophecies or emotional states

"CAST episode five eighty one other kinds novais welcome to China caster weekly faxes journey through the cosmos where we help you understand not only what we know how what we know. I'm Brisbane publisher of the Universe today with me as always as Dr Pamela Gay a senior scientist for the Planetary Science, Institute and the Director of course. How you doing I'm doing well, how are you doing good the word size just comes up your senior scientists working for a scientist a tude science science science. It, it's kind of the way I live my life. It's nice to have people focused on science it is. It is and Happy, I Canadian thanksgiving. Oh. Yeah. That's this weekend. Yeah. We're. We're not that big about Thanksgiving around here in fact my. My my sister calls no thanksgiving. All, right we we keep a pretty low key. chloe's to be coming back from university for for Thanksgiving and we'll be hanging out so so. Excellent. Yeah. But but. Trying to organize like a Thanksgiving dinner is very complicated around the house so. So ten we tend to make something Super Yummy. That's all you name. Yeah exactly. But it's also you know as I mentioned year after year it's entire. It's very civilized although I think this year. Like, nobody's be traveling in the US to attend Thanksgiving's so I think you have to worry. But maybe in future years once the pandemic has wrapped up, then consider adopting Canadian thanksgiving is your date because it's just. Air travel traveling in general is a lot easier in in. October than in November. This is true and we're starting to get fall leaves. So it's more. than. The the leaser. Great. Yeah. November they're they're they've all fallen. It's gross. Yeah. All right. So don't ever accuse us of not comprehensively covering every kind of exploding star this week we gather ball the leftover ways that stars partially or fully explode don't probably enjoy. Oh Pamela. So I'm not GonNa lie I did absolutely zero preparation for this week's episode. Because I have no idea. What's In fact, we were prepping like okay. So what what's left and then you then proceeded to rattle off a whole bunch of ways it starts getting split I had no idea. Had even had names but. Why. These these are in minimal exploding right moments in our life. You gotTa Start and start gets brighter. It could be an explosion, it might not be. And and this is where we have to go back to what does the word Nova mean it it's a new star and so Nova New Star. Yeah. So anytime, a star decides, Hey, I, may not have been visibly bright before but look at me now and hops into our sky. That's a Nova. And so far we've discussed where you have a compact object White Dwarf Neutron Star, whatever that is stealing matter from a companion and periodically flares in brightness due to usually some sort of an exploded. We talked many times in the past about supernova where an entire star decides I'm GonNa could boom either my outer atmosphere or all of myself and we've behind something or nothing depending on the stars mass and whim. Yes. Put. There's other really cool stuff out there. And the other cool stuff out there. has produced some of the most beautiful didn't actually explode remnants for Hubble and other massive telescopes to point that. So let's let's run through a couple of examples I guess of of of Stars that did something interesting but not in a traditional variable star sense because we've talked to them plenty of times but like weird variable stars, Right Right. So so here we have systems like I think the most famous may be Ada Karena. exploded. Ready. Right well or not. I, mean here we have this this star that wasn't particularly noticeable Intel in the eighteen thirties. It decided to suddenly do the opposite of bagel juice and it became brighter than Rachel. Brightest, stars in the sky. It became the second brightest star in the sky for a while. Just after serious. It's had multiple episodes of getting brighter getting, Fainter. and. It's thought that this humongous Nebula that is around it this it looks like an hourglass with an exploding waistline. I don't know how five it. Yeah. So the hour glass of material around it is is thought to be material that was given off during its great eruption in the eighteen hundreds. And its subsequent. inning occurred when all of this material cooled and coalesced into dust and that dust hit the the two stars. We now know that are lurking down in the center of this system

My Latest Cravings (MM #3476)

"The Maisonette with Kevin Nation every now and again, I have some weird Cravings sure when you're constantly dieting you're constantly watching your weight. You have cravings for things usually bad things, of course, you know ice cream or pie or Donuts or sugar in that kind of stuff and it's all bad for you. But that's not the kind of Cravings. I've had recently last weekend. All I wanted to eat was cheese and crackers just cheddar cheese Big Cheese swiss cheese didn't matter cheese and crackers and that's what I had for dinner one night last week. It was great. But recently this week and a couple of months back. I had a craving for lox and bagels now, we've got bagels Iraq whole time but remember eat them my wife eat them for breakfast every now and again I try to stay away from because I know the breads bad for me, but for some reason I just had a craving for real honest-to-goodness locks hard to find expensive and to be honest with you. I couldn't tell you the last time I had it probably at some big expensive fancy brunch at some Hotel haven't had it in years, but I've had a craving for it. I don't know why I don't know what it says. Maybe just covid-19 got a craving for some strange things wage.

Stay Weird With Stacy Ossei-Kuffour

"So stay we thought we would warm up a little bit because We were delighted to find out that one of your favorite things in the world. Is Felicity. So. What is it about felicity? Well. It's a couple of things I think. For me growing up I I didn't realize it until. Now but I was really obsessed with the WB like. The WB. Children out there will be like, what is she talking about and I think for me? I became obsessed with felicity because she was like I mean obviously Carey is stunning I'm talking about like I know are but I think really affected. Me Was it. It was about this woman who didn't know what she wanted, but she knew she wanted Ben and saying it now it's like such an eye roll but I just thought it was so cool that she. Didn't do anything that her parents or friends wanted her to do and she like just dropped everything and moved to New York for this guy and Mike as a eleven year old a twelve year old I was like yes. Hi. I'm this is I'm going. This is where I'm going I. totally forgot you're going here. So unbelievable. I know this from high school. This is Susan this is. This is. versity felicity while. All right. So I'll see you around. and. Just told myself that I was going to do the same thing felicity did and obviously I mean I there wasn't a boy that I was like in love with and moving to New York for but I researched that like the school that they were modeling it after. Was Nyu, and so I decided that when I was gonNA turn eighteen that that was the school I was GonNa go to. So it's crazy to say now and you know when I did turn eighteen deny auditioned for nyu I didn't get in and so it was heartbreaking and all that stuff and obviously I realized I was not in TV show in not felicity. But then I auditioned my sophomore year and then I did get in and so I moved I dropped everything and moved to New York did you also? Like seek out a job at Dean and Deluca to really out. Absolutely, and they were like no ma'am and I was like please and it's crazy because i. think when I went in there I couldn't afford like not even a Bego I think it was like seven dollars an onion Bagel. But I was like for me like walking Dean and Deluca was like walking into a museum felicity just had an extreme profound effect I. Mean even now I go back and just watch the pilot discussed. Makes me feel good. So getting a little bit into your work to words that we noticed while researching up on, you two words that positively came up a lot to describe your work either by like your own words or other people describing your work. Were dark and weird. So I was wondering what those words, those two words mean to you. I think if I'm honest both of those words like. Growing up had a negative connotation for me I. Think. People often thought I was extremely weird and you know I was a pretty dark kid in terms of the stuff that I was into I mean publicity isn't that dark but I was really into. Buffy obviously but also these. Books where like it's just you know murder and incest, and then I think a lot of my friends were reading goosebumps which I was into but then like my sister was reading just rl Stein. So I was like wait what's that and so I kind of ditched goosebumps because it was like. And got into Rl. Stein. The adult books recalled Rl Stein and so I would read those a lot and those kind of just kept my. I think I was obsessed with a lot of stuff but I didn't WanNa read the Kitty Shit. I really wanted the adult books and I fought really hard. To like, trick my parents into getting me the staff and pretending it was a PG and That's just show you the kind of kid. I was just like I was beyond curious like I wanted the content I wanted I just wanted to grow up really

A Simple Equation to Help Kids Love Math

"We're going to the equivalent of flipping to the back of the book to look right at the answers because we know back by listening to this math, you had to overcome some anxieties I bet of your. Yes. So let's get right to our takeaways and number one. Don't let your math anxiety hold your kids back. Nothing's -iety. As you mentioned is a real phenomenon all over the world and it's pretty clearly related to how we teach math in school things like timed practice and memorization and high stakes testing and oh my gosh, I'm getting. Hot Flashes and sweaty palms, just thinking about tests. Can here's the really upsetting thing that math anxiety it's not equal opportunity. That's right. It's tied to stereotypes race, and especially gender research shows that mothers and Preschool teachers who are overwhelmingly women they can pass that feeling onto their kids especially to their girls but there is some good news children are not born with math anxiety. All right. It's passed onto them. So I think that's why we have to check out selves in when we're talking about math this. was kind of a surprise for me because I thought that you know if my kid had a problem with math I could bond with him by saying, Hey, you know it was tough for me too but actually rose Marie says saying, I. Don't like Math I can't do math that will get conveyed to your children and the solution. Instead we need to reframe math yet rosemary says think about the fun activities that can back up and reinforce what they're learning. In school math is very much an integral part of your life do you love music i? Do I love to sing. All right. If you love music, then you love math do like to cook and Bake I love to cook and be okay. Then you love math because she can't do music and you can't cook and bake without math so I can't cook or bake really and I definitely cannot sing but I love baseball for example, and my boys. And I we talk about baseball statistics all the time. So what's important Rosemary says is recognizing math as part of many things that we like doing together exactly and so to see more about how adults can we've math into our everyday moments of life even with really little kids you and I and our producer Laurent Mickey visited Really Special Preschool new first reported this episode. This is back in two thousand and nineteen when we could freely move throughout the world. Watch US light today. This is the center for Early Childhood Education. It's our research preschool at Eastern Connecticut State University. The lobby has this giant, super, realistic oaktree yet which I climbed inside. Very cool. We should also say about a third of the kids at this school speak Spanish at home. That's right and at the preschool, we sat down with one of the lead researchers. Suda. Swami not done and she helped us understand a lot more about how to grow children who love math the minute we say math with think of the big picture you know Bagel theorems beore geometry concepts instead swimming not says thinks small she's a professor in Early Childhood Education at Eastern Connecticut State and her special focus is on early math learning and Sudha And her colleagues have done lots of research to see what kinds of childhood experiences lead to better performance in math later on and one of their answers makes up our second takeaway take number to talk about math take this really ordinary moment you asked them to put their books away and and say, doesn't fit the shelf. So why disadvantage fit? Maybe it's the book is too tall too big Suda says you're actually talking about math process it's problem solving. Yeah, and we heard lots of this by the way math talk at the preschool. As the duck fit in there too. He did fit when he was standing up. So you decided to lay down does he fit now? That's Amy Lopez the lead teacher for the toddler. It's a sunny room with a cozy reading corner. There's a play kitchen and blocks, and you're the center of the room. There's this table and amy sitting with the children they're building together with magnetized calls, which are these colorful plastic blocks with different shapes that stick together and the little plastic farm animals, and one of the kids is kind of putting together a house. You're using triangles and squares unique. Naming the shapes in both English and in Spanish. When we played this tape for Rosemary she said what I heard. There is the teacher using descriptive math language and that is so key for children to understand math concepts. You can't understand the concepts without the language. Yeah, and aim is not building the box for the kids cheese actually making observations kind of narrating their thoughts in real time the more blocks you on the longer dad's Cohen I notice that when you added more your line got longer and longer when she said Moore blocks to make it longer. Longer is a complex word for children and they need to hear that language and they need to hear that language in a very concrete way. She wasn't even afraid to use really technical words like when this little boy was trying to make a little corral standup. Now you can put them all around the perimeter all around the edge Caribbean or.

Are You Putting on Enough Sunscreen?

"As I record this, it is August which here in the northern hemisphere means hours of outdoor time under the blazing summer Sun. But even though many of us do wear sunscreen to help prevent sunburn skin cancer and the kind of skin damage that the beauty industry calls premature aging recent researches found that we're not applying that sunscreen is thickly as we should hang its effectiveness by about forty percent. Sunscreen is rated for Sun Protection factor or SPF WITH SPF thirty able to block ninety, seven percent of ultraviolet rays, the higher, the SPF, the greater the protection although even SPF one hundred doesn't block one hundred percent of UV light. The problem according to this recent research out of University College. London is that few of US US enough sunscreen to enjoy those high levels of protection. Lead author entity young explained to US via email that to calculate ratings in the lab. Sunscreen is applied thickness of two milligrams of product per each square centimeter of skin. He said, an average woman has about one point, seven square meters or eighteen point three square feet of skin for a whole body sunscreen she will need about thirty three grams or one point. One fluid ounces with three whole body applications a day that's about one hundred grams or three point four fluid ounces. For reference, a fluid ounces roughly equivalent to a shot glass of sunscreen and a large tube of sunscreen holds eight fluid ounces of product. So a person spending a full day in the Sun should use about half a tube by themself. Are you using that much sunscreen probably not young and his colleagues estimate that our real life application of Sunscreen is closer to about point seven five milligrams per square centimeter at less than forty percent of the recommended thickness as a result or not getting anything close to the ninety seven percent protection promised on a bottle of SPF. Thirty. The good news from young study is that you can get away with using less product with SPF of fifty or higher. They found that even the real world application rate of point seven, five milligrams of sunscreen per square centimeter if using SPF, fifty provided considerable DNA protection compared to untreated skin. So does that mean that you should run out and buy the most expensive SPF one hundred or spread your regular SPF thirty as thick as cream cheese on a BAGEL. We also spoke with Ivy Lee a board certified dermatologist based in Pasadena California who explained that you could. But that the best daily Sun Protection Strategy is to keep it realistic. Lee, said I tell my patients to go for the highest SPF possible. That feels good on the skin for daily use. How do you know you're really applying two milligrams per square centimeter? No one knows we don't want to induce anxiety over this we want to build healthy habits. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States and exposure to ultra-violet or UV. Light is a risk factor for all types of cancer including melanoma more than nine thousand, three, hundred Americans die for melanoma every year. UNPROTECTED EXPOSURE TO UV light damages the DNA and skin cells leaving them more susceptible to skin cancer DNA damage can result from either a few severe sunburns or a lifetime of cumulative sun exposure. Incredibly the American, Academy of Dermatology reports that getting just five or more blistering sunburns between the ages of fifteen and twenty will increase your overall melanoma risk by percents. and. Lee says that although skin cancer is less prevalent in people of color exposure to UV, light can also cause premature aging they sunscreen use will slow the appearance of wrinkles and age spots for all skin tones. Healthy sun-protection habits include avoiding sun exposure during the peak between ten am to two PM wearing a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses went outside and full sun, and of course, applying sunscreen on all exposed skin even in overcast conditions. For full coverage, Lee recommends starting the day with a cream or lotion type sunscreen preferably fifteen to thirty minutes before you step outside. Instead of measuring out of full shot glass of product, Lee tells her clients to think of applying sunscreen like a massage or can fully into the skin without missing a spot since body sizes vary and product spread. Differently there's no preset amount that works for everyone. Lease suggests reserving spray or powder type sunscreen for fast reapplication on the go the ideal is to reapply every two hours but lease as a more realistic plan is to reapply around lunchtime if you're going to be out all day. If you're heading out on water sanders snow more frequent applications are required because UV rays reflect off of those surfaces. According to Lee it's a myth that you can't burn the palms of your hands or the soles of your feet. Also, tablets and other hand held devices reflect UV light too. So pick a shady spot if you're going to spend some time in the sun scrolling.

"All right I now know what I'm getting. You guys for Hanukkah this year. You want to know we're getting the same thing. Both you. Okay KFC themed crocs. So. crocs has just released KFC theme sandals that came out yesterday and They sandals I'm not sure I'm just assuming that they're considered sandals. I'm about to say something that is going to make slightly unpopular with some people. I, think I think crocs are absolutely hideous. These are probably more hideous. Regular crocs so they come in the famous Red White Red and white bucket KFC bucket. And then they have the chicken like pictures of the chicken all around, but the cool thing is on the very top of the CROCK is drumstick. It's a gibbes charm. I don't know A. It's some sort of charm, and it's a drumstick and it smells. Like a KFC chicken drumstick. Who's going to smell your your foot? Crock? Get answers getting worse than what? Are you sure this isn't a joke. No, it's. Kim Kardashian debuted it a few months ago and now it's like a reality. The CROCK is going to sell on their website. crocs DOT COM for a fifty nine, ninety nine, and they are available right now. Okay. I don't want them for Hanukkah. Don't want them for the holidays. I don't want them for my birthday, but I understand. There's a time and place for crocs and people say they're really comfortable. Blah Blah Blah, but do you wear them? Never know You'd have to pay me to wear these. These chicken shelly yeah. Well. If I was going to wear any, I probably would wear these. That's all I got all right while you ready to get you. I am so excited that these things actually came from target, I can't even believe it so many unique things. We're going to start off with breakfast and the first thing we are going to be tasting. Are Bantam pancakes in magic? Unicorn mini stuffed pancakes. So Bantam. That's the company that made the bagels right the stuffed bagels. Yes, were then shark tank? They were bent on bagels. I think a huge shark tank success story. Yeah, and there I think those bagels are at starbucks. I was excited I. Have The box sitting right here and the funny thing is I'm GonNa? Show this to you because I don't think you can see this. I'm a little scared. Because one of them is like a little pink filling and the other one, there's a picture of some weird green failing, and it says mystery filling inside. And I. Don't know what. I'm holding one. That has the mystery green filling, and really. I'm a little worried. Oh my the pink! It says colorful sweet cream is what it stuffed with, and then that's interesting, colored with fruits and Veggies, so there's no. Oh, no fakey I'm Jay. That's greater. This is so good, but wait. Each one has one hundred ten calories. Yeah, how would you describe their size? Okay? There are like a mini muffin. Wouldn't you say like a very mini Muffin like a? Large mini like a Chubby mini muffin. Delicious, though because like it tastes a little muffin. It's like a Muffin and a pancake had a baby, and then the baby had a delicious, fruity, sweet creamy filling. So I'm going to see if the the fillings are different because the Grad, the green one I know what it tastes like so now I'm going to try the pink one I just had the pink one. Tell me what the green ones as like I think. They both taste the same, so maybe the mystery is just the color because it's supposed to just be sweet cream filling. That's amazing. I. Think kids would go nuts over these i. have to tell you they're really fun. And they come, so the Bantam pancakes come in other varieties two. I think it's not just the Unicorn ones. Oh well. Yes, so they also have home, style, chocolate, chip, and Blueberry Oh. Wow, okay, well, you know I. I have to tell you like flavor, wiser home run, but I would probably want to eat three or four of these and I think the calories would would rack up pretty. I don't know they're just really young and

"Million thank guber peanut butter jelly elite. Maybe no one buys it put put it together and eat like a like a gun. I don't know I've seen in that presentation before. But not with like it's not a not with a fucking Bagel dog. I've just seen it like the dog. Slice down the middle. It was harder to eat. Yeah much mustard and catch up together in a jar is like this most discussed ranch there. I'm good no. It's a craft ketchup and ranch bland. God I would be into that might WANNA pursue it. We had some of my friends. I didn't love it. I think there was. It was better than expected though but I to me. I was just like if I want to have both these sauces. I'd rather add them in the proportions that I e exactly it tasted a little weird all much together. It wasn't quite quite how I'd want to do that. We catch up on those. We had some packets of that. And then also I put some muster on that Pastrami sandwiches well and then the last thing any needed there was a little bit on there but not enough. The last thing I got the last thing we got we got to waters and then we I also got a gigantic orange juice. Fresh squeezed orange was very big but but it was good. I felt like I was getting sick. It was a good our shoes that was tasty. The thing the last thing we got which is a winner for me was the Novo locks in which cucumber tomato red onion capers abors with planes schmear on a plane Bagel. But we got it on everything. Yeah we got all everything potato but now that you you so you said you're thing was lightly toasted. I think that our bagels were not totaling. How interesting now that I'm thinking about a Bagel has to be toasted? I oh I think if it's fresh no I like a soft fresh Bagel with if it's a little warm like later in the day or a day old toast that I like it toasted stead. I used to be a toast to guy all the way through but then sometimes did a Bagel can be. You're everything Bagel toasted. Because I just just like the little onions to get goodbye. That's fun sometimes inside the so moist and Nice and you don't WanNa fuck that you can do a late. Sometimes I'm known to do like a very light toes boy interest and that's nice just like a little crisp on top of the whole rest of the way those good quite you bet light toast also nice. If someone has a minor life achievement noticed a light toast. That's straight up socks light roast coffee you do like a light roast. The coffee portly fool. The white rose. Yeah would you like. Would you like me to get you a razor. That's kind of a light. Rose was kind of a light roast and roasted and does it lessen the the Bagel the Nova locks Bagel was my a favorite of the box. The Best of the bunch. I will say well maybe the hotdog because inherently. There's just very flavorful. All the sandwiches I felt like all of them were like like almost tasteless. I liked the locks. I was surprised at at that. It wasn't like worse. Yeah also the two months lettuce the lettuce who is not. The lettuce was overwhelming. There was lettuce tomato Pastrami Sandwich. I know no heard it wrong to be honest. You don't put lettuce and tomato. You let me check here. I kind of think they just did it wrong. Oh It's possible. Jelly Sandwich is wrong. The hop astronomy does not have does not list yes tomato I think I think part the issue is I think people go to know us for bagels and coffee and those menu items are there. Yeah have some higher margin higher fuller meals. They're not commonly commonly order. You're not supposed to really get them. We realize that after we were like we should have just gotten BAGEL and cream cheese like regular. That was the thing when we were walking away with just like like yeah I want a Bagel and cream cheese and yeah the Bagel because the Nova Lock Sandwich. I just took stuff off and I was like this is a good Bagel and everything Bagel and cream cheese as I would have enjoyed it one hundred percents fine but I feel I mean. Maybe I'm just like I used to eat. Noah's bagels constantly growing up and I feel like the quality has gone down like the Bagel itself was not great. It was bred which I'm fine like I like Brett but it just kind of like two soft like you know bales you've got to have a little crispy on the outside has to be just like textured and it just I was not re. I just didn't really like no. That's fair that's fair. Okay well we should get to our final thoughts on Noah's Bagels so Jenny. We're going to go around. We are going to give a summation of our feelings on this chain based on a lifetime of consumption and an end and by giving it a four grading from zero to five forks. You our guest. Oh we'll begin with you just like final thoughts any final thoughts lots and then give it a well over. I fell that everything just kind of tasted like nothing even after eating all that I was still really hungry. It's like a couple of hours later at a little bit of a headache from cream. Cheese bagels okay The locks was better quality than sometimes you get like really shitty locks these places fatty or something and it was pretty good. Pretty melty But I guess my four grading I'm GONNA give it two and a half how how two and a half that's low as hell. That good would bad was good but I mean you get that at Costco. That's true that's true. I mean like they. Shouldn't I feel feel bad for this place because I feel like they're trying to you know they're they're they're trying to keep up with the market like a luncheon and they're trying to keep up with subways he's an all these other places let's say they shouldn't keeping up with and the low carb craze has really hurt the bagel sector sector. Yes then that persist they have like Bagel thins there. Yeah I think we're okay. That's a bummer Bagel man. I just wasn't impressed. Okay I get about it. I'm Asaba about it's how about something you you you feel passionately. I almost want to give it an incomplete allow. Yeah I mean when I saw the lettuce and tomato on that Sandwich I was surprised as Joe Greene was when I pulled that Bagel out of my pants. You did pull it out out of your pants to.

"I'm not afraid of y'all big bagel all up in your pocket. Patriot patriarchal white capitalism telling y'all, what's the best bagel? I'll see what it is. Dre miles, right? I going to say what he said, but he was right or heard the point being. The everything bagel is a Jack of no trays and trying to be everything is season becoming no things which makes it don't worse bagel. What did he do to you is just the worst is that it didn't have to do with damn thing to me. And before you go broad, you're not from New York, you're not Jewish. What are you know about bagels? Well, let's talk about how mathworks. Okay. Let let's say that bagels in the places I've eaten bagels are half as good as bagels in New York, right? Let's just say that I have tried all the bagels where I live. They don't just sell everything. Bagels. Dummies is not going to sitting around going, oh, I've tried one, everything bagel. No other bagels and was like, bagels are bad and you go wherever you try to New York, you would've fucking jeers all over yourself? Well, guess what? I try to auto bagels here and other places. Everything was always last no matter where I was at. So let's say I go to New York and bagels. There have fucking crackle. Okay, bagels, their stick your digging them and they make you come. Let's just say that that's how good the bagels are. Let's say that on a scale of one to ten bagels in New York are fifty. Seven. Okay. Like the Jewish people make them by hand. I don't know fucking they do all the right things to make a bagel. Perfect. Let's say that's true. Well, because we're talking about the commonalities, the everything bagel up. There is still going to be last of all the delicious bagels that are magic. And that's your fault because there are sites out bagels are garlic, bagels, Dr, onion bagel. There's other bagels. Ok, I know bagels. The other flames, but then you also have condoms and Thomas you put on spreads. Okay. I'm not nudity on this bagel shit. "Had this weekend. Great burger hangover burger that was served on of all things in English Muffin, and it obviously got me down a rabbit hoax, starving right now of discussing the great qualities of an English Muffin, and it got me to thinking and Alleyen skied like you guys to weigh in on this. I, I look at this and I say there are four things that I would consider in the brotherhood of English Muffin. It'd be English Muffin. It'd be a bagel. It would be toast and it would be a biscuit. Would you say, is there anything else I'm missing? Do we think in this category. All right. So we've got, we've got knows there now. How would you pal rank those? Because of my mind looking at this and I'm saying it is clear to me that there are two at the top and then everything else. It is biscuit as my one a, it is English Muffin is why one be, and then the rest of it is a gross drop off to bagel toast, etcetera. My only thing is I agree with biscuit at one, but like a good cheddar bagel from like a local lake place is also extremely delicious. See, this is the kind of thing. I imagined that the only real pushback we're going to get is from the New York crowd here because New York bagel, the sort of folklore Scott, you can speak to this guy. I don't know if it's the water or whatever it is, but there is a difference. I can attest to the New York, New jersey area bagel, correct? Yeah. The whole, the whole bagel thing. It's a, it's the water thing is real and bagels down there. They're just Adama baby. I was to say. Eagle one. Oh, wow. Okay. So you posit bagel at one here? Yeah, see, I, I appreciate a good bagel and I had teammates from New Jersey and my roommate was from island, so their family would come out and they were literally import bagels to us. That was how important it was. They would bring a serious business and it was great. I understand it, but man, a nice flaky. Buttermilk biscuit gets my mouth watering now. And I think the really under soul part about what you're dealing with. An English Muffin is just surface area. It's like a sponge little porous to absorb butter and anything else that you're gonna put on it, but I think you can actually fit more under the bagel and you can't English Muffin. Do you think there's more surface area under the bagel? Why I'm saying pound for pound because bagels also a lot bigger. Like there's more surface area there, but an English Muffin per square inch is like giving you more surface area because a little Spungen's, right? But like you can put more like there's more options with a bagel. Like inside your bagel can be a bacon egg. Cheese, which you can fit more of under the bagel or it can be like a ton of cream cheese. Whereas like you're more limited with your options on the English Muffin or you're definitely limited..
