His daughter had a uniform birthday and she was starting so I and his mom got hair out like my I make upset and so I got her little makeup brushes that were Unicorn Horns, and then I found this bag, the was Unicorn hundred name embroidered on it so. I totally took aggressions out of the bag because I would rather have my niece, but I couldn't. Be Bag too many out of my mind I was like all they could have gone to your knees embroider at your legs her. So So I. Went to you I. I went to I went to hear when I they were closed on nunes like that's fine. So I have undesired Kazmi harelips a little crazy, but I wanted to cute Cute like I bought those that actually fit means. The best crop top life right now, and so you have this cute like black skirt with pockets little black crop top that shows just like his skin and It came in little sambo's and I walked in and she was like literally by. Call her. Aunt Cassie Howard. Yards like Chelsea you. Just inching up with Mike Lying. No rush no big deal and. Now. Own well. Okay. So I don't know what she told her son or what her son told her and I have for soon as the baby of the family doesn't WANNA lose face with his mother he probably lied and said either I broke up with him. Or? Because then he gets You know or creed he's or I said or have you said I was crazy. So. and. He probably said like MOMS stop by age. Really Nice word because she could blow at any moment you guys are beard and they. You want to save face but you're the one that did it. You know. So. We are so so I walk in and she's like. I to me and all this stuff and. I've a mask on his. This and she and she's thinking, Gosh, you don't enjoy that asking here's the. People in your will like it's I. Know she is so right image. Oh i. mean before I ended I got the birthday person for emily. Do I just all sorts real name? You're welcome So, before cal Jacobs and I grew up. UPS. It didn't work out between being out but I'm really glad that I got a chance to meet your family because you guys are really great and she was like she's like. Sweet, and began and we talked about our salon because I had been there before. So she gave me a tour because she's just as Chatty as I am. It and We are hold saying and all this stuff and I was like well, again was like it was such a pleasure give you and I'm sorry you know like Steve just wasn't feeling it so and our cow wasn't feeling it and she robbed burn and these bridges so. So. It was like you just wasn't feeling anymore and then she got a stop for a second. She's like well, I have to say I have because I have two boys many nice girls in my life that my voice just made decisions I don't necessarily agree with that I was like. Honestly, the nicest thing I would have ever expected to say because I don't expect a mom to take my side. Ever you know but also this is a running theme in your life. Screw up the other one. If you WANNA come back in like a couple months, we'll be like all my. This happen. So yeah, I knew. He says she was really sweet. And and then she goes. I. I was like clearly if he did tell her the he got dumbs. I-. I- negated that so obviously that was pretty clear so. Yes but okay so I take the funniest. Okay. So we went on vacation nor. So there's no way they were coming like she had had a c section baby super healthy beautiful, and has like be most I've ever seen on a baby ever. Pictures it almost looks like she's wearing a wig like it's so full. It's yes. Crazy. But. So they weren't coming obviously a couple of other groups are market already and then seven Daniels decided that they felt more comfortable. And Young. Children like I you know. I it is. You know. So we ended from nineteen people ended up to say about going. So I probably like everyone like do you want to just Dan Hotel Room or five days free? Because I'd like. To hang out with us because it's your own apartment is even told stacy was like, do you to just come for a couple of days and like work on your book and then you can just drive home and she was like that sounds amazing. I don't think I can make it word because as is taking on her parents. Problems is her home people are starving. We just need your. Other problems are not ours. So anyway, so we go we went up to the up we went to quantum falls. Gorgeous beautiful have posted a single picture but it was beautiful I've never been. Terrible michigander. Elapsed people have been you by everybody in that car had been the decided myself..

Burma CDC quote, unquote up in your room with, said Girl A. is she totally all you out on you? Know. I was I was real convincing with my that didn't happen. so I just remember that story in just like every time. I was so excited for the show that we're gonNA, do obviously. But. Just like? How in tune, you guys were with each other like even though I, only met her a couple times obviously knew you guys were on the same wavelength in. Yeah I mean it's hard to be I mean. I, My mom like I am not in the same widdly with her like you guys are. They I can honestly say there's not a living soul on this planet. That will ever know me to my core like she did, and that's kind of what scares me the most about all this. I know she's here with me and I know. I think essentially he's there and you know what I mean. I truly believe this has made me take a step back while I still believe in aliens and all the crazy conspiracies that I always have, and always will believe in did make me take a step back and think I mean I. Refuse to live in a world where mom isn't a heavenly realm and. I Say I'm sorry. I went off tangent I say all that to say you know there. That's what scares me. The most is like. Will I ever find someone that's GonNa? Know me that well and I think. That's also kind of the point of life I think we have those people in our lives and their special for however long we're blessed to have them there and I think I'm just lucky. I had her for twenty nine years man. It was good, it was it was better than good. You know it was the best life I could ever ask for could have ever dreamed of. And Yeah, I wrote I write a journal to cope with everything right now, and I've already filled it up and I'm onto a second one. It's basically. The first. You know maybe one half. Harry Potter book filled of just me writing like I'm talking to her at night, and it's what I've been doing and I literally titled The chapter. Last night no cables needed. We have heart. Bluetooth and I went into. Explain that you know we are. We're on such this this crazy wavelength that. You know. We were always thinking the same thing. We always knew when something was wrong. You know we didn't have. We were always an extension of one another, so it's cool for you say that I'm glad that you hope everyone knew how you know connected. We were I. Think even though she's GonNa. We're GONNA. Stay connected so. As that got it got real for a minute Alvarez. Point. And then I got some funny stories about my Momma. Share. One my uncle Dave that I actually talked to you prior to this this episode. He told which I didn't even know about my, you know. My mom actually set my uncle Dave in my aunt, cassie up and I think that he she knew them before she knew my dad, she was friends with Cassie so anyways My uncle Dave was. Telling the story, they go through McDonald's McDonald's drive-thru. My mom was a big fan of fast food and she'd never gained weight which drove me crazy because I could eat like that and I looked like a whale, and you know she's fairly driving issues with Dave. And she said she drove through an intern around and win back without saying anything to anybody, and she held up her French fry. She shook it at the person in a window and was like. I didn't pay no doubt four large for a small variety large cup. Like. Oh, so funny, so she she made them fill it full more full, the large fry, and apparently this happened most multiple times. I didn't pay per small fry in large container. Oh, so that was. That was a funny one. Another one which kind of goes back to US talking about rocket, the raccoon and raccoons a whole lot. This episode I actually have a video that I've saved of my mom flicking French fries out the car window at a raccoon next to McDonald's and she's going I. Love Eating with somebody I hate eating alone. You want some more, and she gives it little fucker like six French fries is so funny. I haven't I've got it saved? I'll send you the file after we're done with this. I'll shoot it over you on facebook. It's hilarious and it just goes to show how much she did. Love animals even. Even little beggars so and find another one. I know I've got so many I could say I could do this episode for another two hours, but I'll make it fast just two more. She loves food. She loved Mexican I love Mexican and we went to Kyoto one time food Mexican. Food, sorry, Yup that better, yeah, good call We went to Cuba and We asked if we could eat inside the place because it was late. and. They told us now and still had like fifteen minutes before they closed up. And it made my mom super pissed and she I was of course embarrassed, but she wanted to. Anyways we've. She pulled the back of the truck her little. Not Little big expedition. That she drove the big white one to the very front like part where the back end was facing, the Cuba and she popped the trunk and she said well. We're just GONNA eating here. We don't want to get cold home. And I was like what do you mean? It's facing the window? Everyone Cuba that's working can see us and he's like that's the point they're just going to have to. Deal guilty. So. We ate this Cuba in the back of her truck. Facing everyone is they were closing down at Kyoto and to make matters worse right before we were done. Now Open the door and just go through the trash in their. Housing. I was like she. They took the trash out already. Mom and she's like. I don't care. You know what they get. Inside felt like a little demon boy, just dry. This was literally probably two or three weeks before I moved up here. To Virginia. So send you on over there on the interstate. Yeah, it was the brand new one. Yeah, right next to the starbucks whatever well..

Rallying outside my door or anything like that. It was always just shut them. Fuck ops. They were just dry. They wake me up so early and I. Go back to my room and lay there and I have to lay there for like another hour I couldn't get back sleeve. The chickens and roosters were roosters. Chickens don't crow. You know what I mean. "All right guys so definitely check out. All of those great podcasts Before we get into our individual stories I wanted to tell you listener aunt. Cassie I put out a little poll on twitter. I'm obsessed with do in the polls everybody on twitter probably aides. When I found that we were doing a ghost story or ghost stories. I asked my twitter friends. Do you believe in ghosts? That was the question and fifty eight percent said yes honestly knowing our friends I kind of it was going to be higher but I think that that's still a good number more than half. Yeah that is more than half. I mean fifty eight percent. That's not bad. I thought it'd be higher to just because of who our friends are not big. Not like based on general population or anything why feel like seventy five percent of the general population believes in ghosts right. I don't know there's a lot of paranormal shows out. There's a lot of you know movies and books about ghosts paranormal activity. I don't know if everybody that ingests that content like actually believes in it or if it's just entertainment for them yeah for me. I personally believe in ghosts but even the stuff that I see on TV. I only believe half of the stuff that I see on TV. Oh okay does that make sense? I believe in everything it's terrifying. Why don't I don't recommend believing it as much as I do? You will never sleep again and cassie you believe in ghosts. Yes so we're to believers okay so I will go first. 'cause my story is very very short very short and seat and then you are going to tell your story and. I'm here for it. So my dad used to work at a rice mill and somebody who was doing the night guard duty. There saw a spirit. It's pretty cool. And he for some odd reason wrote it in the log book which. I don't think that goes to encounters are the point of the log book. But I'm here for it and I love this guy for writing this down. Four twenty one nine nine nine twenty two. Pm Everything has been quiet till the last walk around the warehouse area just past the are tank a person or object. I don't really know abnormal behavior. I guess this was my first. Go citing the person or object stood there for about thirty seconds then vanished into the wall. My first thought was to call frank or Steve but thought better of it till I slept on it so it goes on a little bit after that. But it's nothing else about the ghost so he just wrote kind of a brief description of what happened but the following day at work when his boss Steve came in the night guard told him what happened. He said that he saw a figure. Transparent wearing old style. Clothes Twenties forty style close with a big mustache. Like an old timey barber look. He saw him standing in front of a cinderblock wall and the guy said at first. He thought that somebody was China. Projector onto the wall. Because that's how it looked to him and he looked around to see if anyone was around. I guess pranking him. Apparently this guy was used to having very in-depth pranks I don't know. But he looked around to see if anybody else was there nobody was around and then he watched the ghostly figure walk into the wall and disappear. My Dad brought home the logbook like two days later. So he's had it since nineteen ninety nine. Apparently he's in his collection of A. I don't know borrowed things I don't know I don't know why he took it. I think it's Kinda funny but that was the only time that that happened there. It was just kind of a one off and I thought it was really fascinating. I did try to research the area to see if I could find anything. Find any information. Nothing really came up about it It's a really small town. This mill was in so the history of the town is is not super in depth. But I just thought it was a cool story and I thought that it was kind of funny that the guy shared it with everybody that he worked with when he hadn't worked there that long and I don't know I just thought it was interesting and cool and a little unusual that it was a one off. I feel like usually when you see something that clear. It's not something that just happens one time why I think what's interesting about. His entry in the log. Is He specifically says? This is my first time seeing ghosts. So what is it? His first time in life or it's first time seeing when they're like maybe there had been rumors going around that peop- other people had seen a ghost and this was his first time seeing it. Goes there in that specific spot from the way it was worded? I think that was his first time. He'd ever seen a ghost himself personally and from talking to my Dad. He didn't say that there were any other sightings there. He worked there for like nine years. Okay and he had never seen this. Operation Never showed itself again. So it's interesting it makes me think you know. Usually we think of ghosts tied to a location But perhaps not always or maybe it had something to do with the guard maybe had nothing to do with the place itself. I don't know it's pretty interesting. Pretty full that is so cool. Are you going to read the phone part? Because I thought that was Kinda cool. Oh he just. He just mentioned that the phone had also rang every night at ten fifteen and no one had ever been on. The phone was like another little thing that he added at the end. Which is I don't know I mean I that could be attributed to something paranormal or like in ninety nine. We were so pranking people. I don't know. Did you ever print people and when you were a kid we did? Yeah of course I did. I don't know that's a pretty. I don't know every night at the same time. And he he answers it and no one's there. I mean that a little unusual when I looked when I was trying to research. I was really hoping that it was like and the barber died at ten fifteen but I didn't find that that was just well thinking that was. That was a wonderful little story. Thanks for sharing and thank you to your dad for stealing that log. Thanks Dad for stealing this notebook from work. Keeping it for all these years okay. I'm so ready for your story now. To say this story is a little too close to home is an understatement For me but we've decided to stick to northern California this episode so I am going to cover the hunting accounts of empire mine in Grass Valley California. Okay I've been there and I've been to your house and this is how bad my sense of direction as I did not realize that they were that close together. They're extremely close to each other. I'm a loser I don't. I have no since correction whatsoever. It is really bad so when we talked about doing this episode. I thought you know because I go to empire might all the time It's it's beautiful and it's a blade grids. Great placed it's great contained place to walk around with the kids So so pretty yeah. It's nice so I thought okay. I'm going to go in there. I'm GonNa talk to the park rangers kind of you know. Be That Lady. Who's like have you seen any ghost or do you have any spooky stories while then? Kovic nineteen descended upon us. And where shelter in place? The state parks closed therefore cannot get into empire. Mine had to do what research I could on the Internet's so this is. This is what I came up with and is actually quite interesting. So I found a Blog it's called H. M. B. Horror movie blog and they had one of their Researchers paranormal researchers go to empire mine and a little bit of research and he also gathered some stories while he was there. We should totally try to do this. After this is all over we should go there and be the ghost ladies say. Excuse me anything while you were here. I am totally down for that are on our list. We have a me and CASSIE. Have a big checklist of we've already said we need to go here. We need to go there. We are ready. We had a ton of stuff plan for summer. Twenty twenty and it's looking a little dismal so mice choice for the actual haunting accounts is horror movies blog and what I also went to the California state parks website and I looked. I got my hands on the empire. Mine Brochure that they give out at the park. They haven't digitized it so use that as a source And it's pretty interesting. Let me tell you okay. I learned a lot of stuff that I didn't know about so let's get started. Let me ruffle some papers here to let you know that I am ready to get down to business. All right so empire mine for those of you not familiar with Northern California or California in general Sacramento is the capital California. An Empire Mines located about fifty miles from Sacramento in the Sierra Nevada mountains. And that's like the big mountain range in California. It's considered I say it's a little bit more than higher than the foothills of the Sierra Nevada's but I would say I I would say hi. Foothills of Sierra Nevada gold was discovered in eighteen forty eight in California and by nineteen eighteen forty nine people flocked northern California tens and thousands of people and they actually were named forty niners. Okay so that's where the forty niners name came from. Actually I had to Google why they were called forty niners. You really didn't know that no I love you. You're my best friend I'm not a football fan side when I don't know but I didn't know the specific dates of the gold rush in northern California. So but once I believe the reason why I know the specific and so yeah so I was like Oh forty niners make sense. The local football high school football team there. The forty niners to Or the the High School. Mascot is a forty niner. So and these tens of thousands of people like I said flock to northern California Nevada City Grass Valley area Once someone discovered gold and it kind of became a booming and they came from all over the world People from England. Chinese people came here but that wasn't the beginning of the history of the gold mining town in Grass Valley for ten thousand years before that native Americans called the Nissan people lived in this area which sadly I think A lot of people are getting about the native Americans that inhabit the land that we live on now that had previously inhabited it just because they're number number once the white settlers came here. Their numbers just like vanished because of settling and diseases and so. I think that it's important for us to remember. The history of Northern California passed the gold rush definitely. And you're right. Nobody ever mentions the native Americans. Did they Find GOLD OR USE GOLD. The actually that is a really good question because the Nissan people had a warning against gold in their culture that it would make you sick. You come down with a fever that you couldn't get rid of so. They stayed away from gold. Oh like greed right. It's a little ironic..

I don't know maybe you're dehydrated. Maybe I should probably finish the rest this Moheda and then awful green and before we get started as always thank you so much for listening yes is second debt for sure and this week we are doing something. We've actually never done before in the podcast. We are breaking into conspiracy theories. I'm so excited yes I am too so I have never heard yours. You have never heard mine and one two three go all right. I'm I so. Let's start with my sources all that's interesting dot com. I'm obsessed with this show. I like it to religion. Dispatches Dot Org the daily Grill Britannica and there's another site that I quote and I mentioned that in the body of my story. Okay as we all know by now We are talking about conspiracies. Oftentimes conspiracies are created because people refused to accept the widely believed and often proven reasons for certain event. Famous Guy who said the simplest explanation is the only explanation. That was me well. I'm not sure who said the I li- somebody said that said it is at it. I'm not sure he's at other times. However lack of information creates a void of knowledge. Oh and wherever? There is a void a conspiracy. We'll try to fill it okay. So let's begin at the beginning. Good spot to start. Yeah at the beginning. I love it Georgia. Nineteen seventy-nine okay. Can you see it? I can feel it A man using the fictitious name of Robert Christian his signature was RC Christian. In case you're wondering every time I sent me I mean I just thought of RC. Willie Oh but why was it? I doesn't matter I know sorry. It's just a natural my my natural areas to ask why even if there's no answer to that even if I already no matter even if I already know why I still have to ask why okay. So Robert Christian walked into Alberton granite finishing and spoke with its president. Joe Finley Christian claim that for the last twenty years and anonymous group that he belonged to had planned to build a monument. The monument was to be a very large and strong enough to withstand the end of the world. No big deal Christian and his anonymous group believed the end days were near clearly they had finally decided on. Elbert county to the site for the monument because it had the best granite on earth On these slabs would be written instructions for how to proceed. After the end of human civilization the monument that Christian described massive precise and would become one of the biggest mysteries in the history of Georgia. And I'm just happy that they chose granite because they were GONNA do Irish spring soap but that just seems like a bad idea shut. You're always not one hundred percent. Sure I was like okay because I know this is a you know it's a conspiracy theory episodes so I'm like well anything could be true. It could be put on your foil hat and strap in. I'm already wearing it at first. Findlay the Granite Guy Just thought this guy is totally legit. Okay we I have first of all. Can anybody just build a monument anywhere they want? Did they have to get a permit for this? Or we're getting there but yeah yoga money you can build whatever you want to own the land right good to know. Yeah so family thought this guy was full of shit no way. He has the resources to back up. This huge job that he's asking So he sent crash into the local banker. Assuming there wouldn't be funds for the project. But there were funds Christian had a ten thousand dollar deposit ready to go so the they secured a location and the bill began Christian left town what they cryptic. You'll never see me again. So dramatic after the build was underway. Christian. Did Right the banker. Asking the ownership of the monuments land be transferred to the county weird. Yeah also I would like to say that Christian never disclosed his name to anybody except for Fennelly the granite guy and the banker named Wyatt Martin He had to disclose his real name in order to sign all the documents and everything to get this underway right. "To see that weight gain around the middle. We all that spare tire your tire insulin meter, right? The Muffin top. I think lot mother name why we could come up with a lot on. So when you think about the stress of caregivers, there are just so many stressors, the round the clock duties, you know, that's enough to exhaust even the strongest of individuals. And then often there are financial pressures, and sometimes there are just some really strained relationship things, you know, and one of the stressors I had a care caregiving, my dad was when he didn't want to eat properly. Sometimes he didn't even want eat, did wanna eat at all, didn't want to eat at all. Other times he would have, you know, maybe a few bites of something and he wouldn't necessarily want the healthy things, you know. So as a nutritionist, that really kind of that was stressful for me because I'm still the daughter, right? Yes. And he's not listening to you because he's the dad, the dad and anyway it would just it. It. Was it was hard and even with friends that's happened, you know, they wanted to go through a drive through before we went to a cancer treatment or something like that. And I like. Oh, please. Dr driving near the devil right well, and I've even seen in my own family with my grandma, something I never thought I would see there are well, there were eight siblings. Now there's seven taking care of my grandma and just the friction and the stress that has been created between the brothers and sisters in trying to figure out how to best care for their mom and one inevitably, you know, gets the biggest load put on them, certainly, and then has to kind of dictate things and then gets the the, you know, the feedback that isn't always good from the brothers and sisters. So there's so many ways that being a caregiver can be really stressful. And as I said earlier about ninety percent of caregivers report that stress as having the biggest negative impact on their lives and on their health, and you all know that if you are a caregiver, you can't just walk away from. That daily stress. But before we jump back into that topic, I want to talk a little bit more about the ADHD seminar that's coming up here the end of September that Caroline mentioned on the other side of the break. This is such a great seminar. So many of your questions we'll get answered. If you have a child with ADHD or maybe you yourself are struggling with ADHD. I can tell you one of the many questions that I hear repeated often at this seminar from the attendees is Ken sugar increase my child's ADHD symptoms. Well, as dietitians and nutritionists we can tell you that from clinical experience that, yes, it can definitely increase those ADHD symptoms, but I also want to share the research with you. There was a study. -ducted at the university of South Carolina that found the more sugar that child consumed the more hyper active and restless they became. There's also a study I have here from Yale, which found that high sugar diets made kids who already struggled with attention struggle, even more at nutritional weight and wellness. We believe that a real food diet is critical for anyone of any age experiencing ADHD symptoms. So whether you're young or middle aged or older food makes a difference. And this upcoming seminar again, is called the food connection to ADD. ADHD are. Teachers are as always JoAnne and Angela, and we choose to have them teach the seminar because they both have children with ADD and or ADHD and they do a great job sharing what foods support their children's brain chemistry and the law. Also talk about what foods interfere with positive brain function. Aunt Cassie said before we went to break that we would come back and we would talk about how do you manage the caregiver stress without affecting your health? You know the truth is the caregivers. First priority really should be themselves, but that's hard, isn't it really harshly for us females? Yeah. Yeah. Why is that? Whereas are done right, but really you need to take care of yourself, I or eventually you aren't going to be an any kind of shape physically mentally emotionally to help the other person. So how do you do that? Let me tell you, you know, it's really not easy. I've been in this position a lot of times, but you do work hard at it because I've had conversations with you before on this. Yes, yeah. Out for time with your friends to just laugh and socialize exacting, sleep sleep os sleeps really an important one that's for sure, but I really found that I needed to take just one step at a time. Right? And so my first thing that I always do is carry water with me. So finding a great water bottle or something that you enjoy drinking out of. And for me, I love the my filter. Water because it tastes so good. Yes. So I carry a water bottle everywhere. I know and I know that my kidneys and liver, they have to have that one to have sufficient water to metabolize fat. So a good water bottle. That's an easy solution. Right. Kind of a fun one. Nine for, yeah, a yeti or some Jan water bottle and not only does drinking eight to twelve glasses of water a day help metabolize fat so that you don't have that unwanted weight gain, but it also helps your energy. It does. Don't you find that even on those nights where maybe you were up with your dad? A lot
